3 of 49 Bars & Pubs in Miami

If you're looking for a delicious meal, live music, and a fun atmosphere this is definitely your go to place

Although Ball & Chain was not on our foodie tour, we stopped in based on our recommendation from our tour guide. We loved the back lounge area as well as the bustling atmosphere within the bar. The bar boasts photos of the past and one can imagine what the Ball & Chain was like back in the 30’s and 40’s. The mojitos were perfect as was the service! We can’t wait to return to enjoy the live music and salsa dancing at night. A must see!

Spectacular Mojitos! The back patio is fantastic. Gorgeous plants and cooling fans. Excellent music, even mid day on a Monday.

I have visited Ball & Chain on three separate occasions and each time has been an incredible, timeless experience. I loved how authentically Cuban the restaurant/bar was and they have the best Happy Hour Cocktails. I love the fact that they very spacious and stylish seating both inside and out, and the live music is always there to set the tone for a great time. Having been there since the 1930's, Ball and Chain is a must see tourist spot for anyone visiting Calle Ocho from out of town. Going to Ball and Chain makes me feel like a tourist in my own hometown. Oh and you can trust that their Fish Tacos are a must try!

Great music, friendly staff, interesting restaurant. Only had drinks so can't speak to the food. Would definitely go back just for the atmosphere and music.

With (loud) live music throughout the day and happy hour 2-4-1 special from 4-7 every day, this was a great place for a cocktail if you don't mind fighting for space with the tourist hordes descending from the hop-on hop-off sightseeing buses. The outdoor garden looked inviting but was booked for a private affair so I'll have tcheck it out next time.

What a great spot. Great vibe. Fantastic drinks. They had a band playing that was awesome. The staff was friendly and helpful. Definitely a must stop to experience Little Havana and the culture.

We got here right before the Friday night rush. Got comfortable seating outside. The waitress was awesome an made great recommendations. Mojito was good, but so were all the others. We ordered a bunch of tapas and stuff to share and loved it all. The conch ceviche with fried plantains; CongI fritters; chicken sandwich, etc. we would go back in a heartbeat.

The Hop On Hop Off bus left us here with instructions to eat at their recommended restaurant, but we chose Ball & Chain instead...great decision! The quesadilla, cuban sandwich, and wings were all excellent! The best surprise of all was the roasted corn with queso fresco and cream! Our friends enjoyed the Mojitos too. We arrived just as the restaurant/bar opened and found a pleasant garden area in which to sit. By the time we left, the entire garden area was full of guests. Friendly and quick service and delicious food served Tapas-style.

This is probably the best place to be in little Havana on Friday and Saturday night. Live Latin music, plenty of atmosphere and drinks galore. It gets very busy and crowded but if you don’t mind that a good place to spend the night

Beautiful music, nice place but food and cocktails absolutely unacceptable! Chicken wings recycled and burned, Empanadas simply cardboard. Never again!

Came by for an afternoon snack and drinks with the family. I have heard so many great things about this place but, unfortunately, never had the chance to visit. The drinks were great and happened to be $9 happy hour while we were there in the afternoon. We also tried various tapas - chicharrones, fish tacos, chicken wings, fried cheese, and ceviche. Everything was great and the service was also fantastic. The location is great and I absolutely love that they have a live band during the day. I'm sure it's a great way to attract tourists but it certainly was a great touch for me to share with my family. The group was great and so engaged with anyone that walked by. The actual restaurant is beautiful with so many great details. Love every inch. I look forward to stopping by at night to enjoy the live music and dancing!

Mahimahi-tacos were great! Mojito was exellent. Cigars smelled all the time and live cuban music were played also at day time. There was nice backterrace. I liked the place.

Stopped in for lunch on Sunday. Live band out front with great music. Mojito's are great and the food was as well. If your taking the hop on off bus, it right across the 9 stop. The only way to enjoy our last day here.

I noticed some negative reviews about slow service - but we had great service. The music was fun to listen to - and the mojitos were yummy!

When you walk in its old style, the decor is a little dark, what a great atmosphere. Its how I would invision Cuba in the 50's. The staff is good,

We went on a Friday night for a bite to eat and a drink. There was barely anywhere to sit unless you paid for bottle service or were lucky enough to score one of 10 bar stools! On Friday night the place was pumping with live music and lots of people. Drinks were yum but expensive. We shared the chicken sliders. Delicious but VERY bite sized. Only serves ‘appetisers’ but someone had a burger and fries at another table that looked like a meal size.

Walked in and sat down at that bar. Waited 10 minutes or so with multiple bartenders standing in front of me. No one took my order. Then I over heard one bartender telling another patron they were closing at 430 pm so I just left. Very confusing because it does not mention a mid day closure. Would have been nice if someone acknowledged me.

Stopped in for a quick snack, and a mojito. Hands down the finest mojito I have ever had. Also ordered a beef quesadilla which was amazing. Two of us shared the drink and food and it was a good snack between us. Service was fast but we arrived shortly after opening so we were the first customers of the day. Live music was starting around noon and the place really filled up fast once the music started.

Fantastic location and lively atmosphere. Great selection of cocktails and Eric was super friendly! Highly recommend

We were recommended the Cuban arae for a night out, and 'fell into this place. And what a great evening we had! Food was a bit ordinary, and drinks a bit expensive - but this place is not unusual in this respect - the taxes are horrendous with compulsory tips being added. Music and dancing was brilliant

Had a great time with my girlfriends, the bartender outside Victor made sure we were well taken care of, great music and fantastic service. ALWAYS A BLAST AT BALL AND CHAIN

Enjoyed our beers and especially the great music. Very lively in the middle of the afternoon, a real gem.

Great place for drinks and live music. On certain nights they even have free salsa lessons. Fun night out

Some real characters and great music in here. Located on 8th in downtown Miami this look to be one of THE places to go for some great music and dancing.

Great atmosphere. Loved the small amphitheater set up out back for live bands. Best mojitos we’ve ever had! Great place to come in and unwind for a bit.

Must visit! Such a cool place, it’s noon Thursday and so lively. Beautiful and can’t decide inside at awesome bar or outside at awesome patio. Food good, drinks goods and Erick the Bartender is So Cool. Little Havana so much more fun than stuffy South Beach, Ocean Dr 😎

We had live entertainment both inside and outside. Ricky Lucille Ball impersonators. Great food and mojitos. A few domino boards and covered seating. Love the misters and shell-covered stage. A trip to Little Havana is topped off with lunch here!

Outstanding atmosphere. Amazing mojitos and wonderful music. Do not miss it if you're in the Miami area!

Mojitos were very very weak. Atmosphere was good including the music. Limited food menu but you probably aren't coming here for a good meal.

Great ambiance and friendly bar tenders. The drinks and appetizers are ok, they won't you blow you but coupled with the live music and colorful Calle Ocho scene, it's a nice way to spend an afternoon or evening.

Having a couple of hours to pass before leaving Miami, brought us to choose Little Havana. Our lunch time choice was the very reputable "Ball & Chain". Musicians were storming up a cuban beat that just was drawing us in. The Menu: Tapas, Côctel de camarones, B&C Elote (which is very good) or Mariquitas de madras, The B&C Tacos are good, the red cabbage coleslaw is vinegar though, Prices are reasonable, $9 USD, but the best of the best for me was the Medianoche/Sandwich Cubano ($9US) This is pure Cuban food at it's best! I took a star off 5 because the service is quite slow. When your on a timetable it's stressful. We ordered plantain chips they arrived at the end of the meal. But other than these 2 issues, The Place is a stroll down memory lane, since it's opening more than 84 years ago!!!! Great Great Place!!!

Good, fast service and nice cocktails. The staff were friendly. It was a lovely place to sit down and get out of the sun. Would certainly recommend it.

Mojito, Cuban sandwich and churros along with live music and friendly staff. Food was as very good. A great afternoon.

Went to Cuba in March this year so was interested to try out this bar in Little Havana to see how it compared to the real thing. It’s a great bar, you should definitely try it out if you can. We only had a mojito each as we didn’t have time to eat as we had a flight to catch but what the drinks were superb and other people’s food looked great

Very fun place for drinks, appetizers and great Cuban music/entertainment. The Cuban food is not that fabulous but for appetizers it's good. If visiting 8th Street you should make the effort to visit - great experience. Then go next door to Azucar for some exotic ice cream flavors. Fun place!

We looked at reviews and walked up and down the street and found that this place had the best menu selections and ambiance. There is often a line, so get ready to wait for a little while. Be aware that when the music starts, it gets very loud inside.

Three of us went for a quick drink before moving on elsewhere but we were really impressed with the live music. When we first arrived there was some piped instrumental music (can't really call it background as it was fairly loud) but occasionally the musicians would join in. After a couple of songs, the whole band started and they were great.

I was surprised learning about this place, after being living in Miami for almost 30 years, and not until a few weeks ago I came across it. Saw a flier, as they were showing Tony Succar. That moved us to go celebrate my daughter’s b-day enjoying the incredible talented Tony. We arrived early at around 8:30pm, and had a reserved table right in front of the outdoor stage. We opted for valet, as parking on Calle Ocho on a weekend proves to be a task. Valet is $8. The front portion of the restaurant is highlighted by having the bar in the center of the space, and a small stage where they have live music/performance, even if another one is going on in the outdoor back patio. The place has an incredibly lively atmosphere, and gets very crowded with many people drinking and standing around. The restrooms prove to be very small for the amount of patrons. We had a bit of trouble understanding the concept as Gabby, our server was not very clear explaining. Here it goes: in order for you to secure a table you have to order at least $250 in either pitchers of Bottles. The Pitchers cost $100 each (Mojito, Sangria or Cañita), and bottles go from $250 to $600. Grey Goose:$275/JW Black $275/JW Blue $600/ Glenlivet $275/ Zacapa23 $300 and others. I asked Gabby if they mean to have a minimum consumption of $250, in case what we wanted to drink was beers….she didn’t know….we asked another server, who said it was a minimum charge per table of $250 on drinks, which makes sense…..minutes later came Gabby again and insisted that we needed to order either bottles or pitcher. Well, we tried taquitos, very tasty. Sweet plantain mariquitas and Pork rind . All tasty. For two or three couples sharing the tab, makes sense to go with the bottle….People danced away to the music of Tony Succar. …definitively will be back.

This is a wonderful place to drink, eat and listen to good music. Friendly wait staff and the food is excellent. This is not bar food. First class restaurant quality. Went back a second time on a short 3 day trip.

Ball & Chain was recommended to me and it didn't disappoint. Good food and even better cocktails. The live band were great too, enjoyed the music.

We stopped in for a quick lunch. For an appetizer we had the Chicharrones. My husband got the Cuban sandwich and spiked lemonade. I got the mahi tacos and it was delicious. The service was good and the atmosphere is cool.

We visited on a Sunday afternoon, without reservation and were lucky to get a good table facing the band. We had the ropa vieja and the Cuban sandwich, both were excellent! The band playing were fantastic and the full experience made us feel like we were in Cuba!!

Visited Calle Ocho last week and stopped here because of the live music. Happened to be time for lunch so we stayed. Restaurant has mostly tapa type foods. We had the fried cheese with the guayaba dip, the fried rice/black bean balls, and split a cuban sandwich. Food was delicious!! Price was about right. I'd definitely stop in again.

Excellent place to visit. Live Music and Dancing in the front area. Be sure to wander out to the patio area to see the Pineapple stage. There was a band playing Jazz music while we were there. Comfortable patio chairs and a nice breeze. Great place to have a cocktail and smoke a cigar. Be sure to ask if there are any specials. We were there around 5PM and they had some happy hour specials

I loved Ball & Chain so much that I came out almost 4 times during my short stay in Miami. This place is absolutely great for dancing and listening to music. On two of the nights that I went they had live music playing. The bands were awesome and fed off the crowd. The drinks are really good (the Miami mule was my favorite). On Fridays and Saturdays this place gets very packed! I will be coming back for sure.

Miami vibe & decor , covid conscious, very good staff. They have live music. I had churros, sandwich, mojito w/o ice cream, but lime instead.

What a great place. We only had about half an hour. So glad we stopped. Just ordered drinks. They were fabulous as was the service. And the atmosphere was just as fabulous. The live music was freindly and lively, as I would imigine it would be in actual Havana.

We stopped here for a mojito / lemonade and live music while sitting outdoors at this very cool restaurant / club. This is a must stop if you visit Little Havana! Fun and cool and delicious drinks!

The establishment is very cool. Has a hidden back garden area where you can catch a show. Music was playing in the front bar area on the day we visited. They have great seating with couches or tables. I got one of their special drinks, a punch. It was ok, nothing special served in a small size glass, no garnish at all and 12.00. Beer was local which was nice. Note this place like others adds the tip in.

Good food, great music and ambience good mojitos. Tapas style had a cuban pork sandwich which was as good as they get. The conch ceviche was 90% veggies : wheres the conch(beef)?

The restaurant is nice. We didn't find the food that good. The mojitos are served very light. The service was poor. And there were two things that bothered us: 1. That if you want to occupy a table, YOU ARE OBLIGED to consume not only drinks, but also food. 2. That at the time of asking for the bill, without asking your opinion, arbitrarily and unilaterally, they impose on you the payment of 18% tip. That is totally unfair because the tip IS EARNED only if the service was good, IT IS VOLUNTARY, NOT MANDATORY and everyone IS FREE to DECIDE THE PERCENTAGE they want to pay for that concept. So forcing you and imposing a percentage on you is A OUTSTANDING ABUSE. Oh… and if you question the waitress about it, she makes a face at you. Bad attitude! For those reasons, WE DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE.

I called twice to find out about hours of live music and inquired about cover charge, both times they said no cover charge. On second call I reserved for four people. My friend checked the bill and didn’t mention the cover charge to me. Come to find out later they billed $7 per person.

Excellent Atmosphere, the vibe was electric, the feeling authentic Cuban. Loved the music, the drinks were fantastic.

Love this bar and restaurant. Excellent service. Great Live Music! If you love salsa and dance, this is the place. Cuban food and Cuban mojito 😋 Love it!

This is a great place to have fun with your friends during a nice summer afternoon. They have great drinks food and live music was amazing. This place is centrally located in Little Havana in a wonderful community. People were a joy!!

This bar is so lively all day and night, you can’t go wrong here! They have free salsa in the day and then live jazz from 6pm so come for happy hour to bag yourself a good spot for the jazz.

We had the back patio to ourselves last week around noon and enjoyed a few cocktails and a cigar. So wish we could've been there in the evening, but the atmosphere even during the day should not be missed. It's cheesy, but you can feel the history. We'll hopefully be back!

We love this fun restaurant in Little Havana. There was excellent live music that we enjoyed while eating our beef empanadas and Cubano sandwich and drinking interesting cocktails. Service was a bit slow but who cares when you're enjoying the music and staying out of the rain. An enjoyable place to spend an afternoon.

Stopped by here today on the Big Bus tour for lunch. There was a guy shaking maracas and salsa-ing along with the band and a salsa dancer splitting her time between the door and dancing with him which was quite fun to watch. All the food is tapas but quite big portions. OH had the queso fritto (fried cheese) and a chicken sandwich. I had pork and BBQ sauce tacos and a sandwich of turkey, cream cheese and jam which tasted as bizarre as it sounds but worth a try, it came with freshly made chip sticks. Waitress was very pleasant and friendly. I get the idea that this place would be fun in the evenings but a bit far without a car if like me you are on SOBE.

This is a touristy restaurant in the heart of Little Havana and it is a happening. Real good Cuban sandwiches! Good atmosphere that reminds you of Cuba. They have various goings on here as well as a Happy Hour 4-7 weekdays

I loved this place, it's great. I tried the mojitos, very well done. I could drink a couple of local draft beer which was exquisite. The staff was overall friendly and very attentive. Live salsa music and that same.night I could see a jazz quartet and they were great as well. I tried the qusadillas there and I loved them. If you ever go to Little Havana, this is the place to visit especially it it's a Saturday.

We spent the day in little Havana and stopped in the Ball & Chain for drinks and to listen to the live Jazz. The outdoor patio is excellent to enjoy the music and drinks

Great vibe, great music and surprisingly good food. First time we visited and not sure what to expect, jazz music in the front bar all night and an amazing band in the back stage area. Food and service was excellent, I felt I’d been transported to Cuba😀 only negative was the server who didn’t manage a smile all night. Never mind I’d still rate 5 stars and would definitely recommend. Good cocktails, easy access for all and room to dance. Just enjoy the mudic😜👍🏽😀

Great drinks excellent live music. Friendly staff. We stopped in for a cool drink and to escape the heat and we found a hidden gem.

Place was recommended by a local, went into the back area of the cllub and a world class Cuban music group was playing. Wow,!, the band was amazing and the talent outstanding. Such a cool place to be, vibes were awesome. We loved the ball and chain and will always visit when in Miami.

The Mojitos are a rip off, full of crushed ice and in tiny glasses. Make sure to check your bill as you will be overcharged. Bathrooms horrendous, toilet didn't flush and no soap in the stall! Not impressed at all, very disappointed

I was there around 1PM on an Thursday and this place was already had live Cuban music playing. Sat down and had the best Mojito I've ever had. need to go back at night.

Amazing experience. Live music, good food, great service. Open concept with additional outdoor seating area.

Came here on the recommendation of a friend, was tired but checked it out anyway. THANK GOODNESS. It was incredible. The music, the people, the drinks, the dancing. As many times as I have visited Miami I have never been to a place like this. A must if you are in the area.

We had lunch here as we were strolling through Little Havana. The 1930's nightclub is a lovely step back in time. There was a live jazz trio. We had Ropa Viejas and fried plantains for lunch. Service was good. Located on Calle Ocho, the main street, it is a must-visit while in Little Havana.

a great place to samba - it was full of happy people when I was there in the middle of the week. I'd go back there any time.

Hateful welcome for a Happy Hour. Endless waiting time. We asked for a Cuban coffee (cafécito) it was actually a classic espresso. The teams explained that it was the same thing instead of admitting that there had been a mistake on their part. In short, a place to flee!

Little Havana is definitely a destination. Lots of friendly waitstaff. The rear patio is where the ball and chain shines. There is a tropical feel on this large patio and a bandshell with live music. Plenty of fans moving the air with misters. An excellent mint lemonade is shown. I also had plantain chips which were delicious. Soft like good bacon. Salty in a good way. I would go back.

Very typical, picturesque and fun. Perfect for fast food and snacks, with live music, a little too loud. Sale of high quality Cuban cigars to enjoy in the garden, which is also the stage of music and dance events.

My sister and I had just finished eating a great Cuban meal down the block from this bar, and we were just walking around, maybe going to stop somewhere for ice cream. This bar was playing live music, and we were intrigued, so we decided to stop in. We ended up sitting there for a couple of hours enjoying the casual but classy vibe, the great live music (although a big loud), and some really delicious drinks! I hope to be back soon!!!

If you are restaurant or bar-hopping in Little Havana, this is a must-see venue. We tried Mohitos and sent them back twice with little to no rum. suggest tou stick to a beer and enjoy the music.

This is a very unique place with the live band out front and stage in the back. Apparently they have salsa dancing and endless live entertainment going on here. The atmosphere is very unique as a 1950's establishment with the décor. Plenty of famous musicians who had played here have pictures on the wall. According to our tour guide, this place has the best mojitos in Miami, so take that for what it's worth. We had one, and it was good. Although mojitos are not my cup o tea. The staff was very fast and friendly. The prices were fair from a look over the menu while enjoying the mojitos on a quick break in the afternoon. If you like live entertainment and Latin flare, this is your place.

This bar was a mobster owed bar back in the 1930s. Lots of history here. Great place to get a drink while visiting Little Havana.

Today’s outing brings me to Calle Ocho, SW 8thStreet, The Heart and Soul of “Little Havana”, Miami’s center of the Cuban Couture and way of life. The local neighborhood which has been transformed by the Cuban immigrants came looking for the Street “Calle” which is paved with Dreams of making it in Miami. The streets are where those fleeing repression of Communism have turned to Golden Opportunities. This 10-20 city blocks are lined with Coffee (Café) shops, cigars manufactures both big and small, Restaurants, small business shops selling everything for life’s staples to novelties and Tee shirts; Don’t forget to try on a Panama Hat to add to that ever so dapper look. As a photographer I find these places are what that makes my life complete. This evenings event is being held at Ball & Chain, a favorite hand out ever since the 1930’s, it open in 1935 were the likes of the Jazz and Blues Greats came to play their music, society wasn’t ready for mainstream to mix the likes of Up-town in the Downtown. Probation was still lingering in some towns and bars were looked down on. Today’s Ball and Chain is the new infusion of both the past and present. Salsa and Caribbean sounds stream out of every establishment lining the streets, food served are both the standard Cuban dishes and the new twist of smaller and lighter fare. The inside bar is well stocked with more choices of Rum than most bars, a Mojito is a must try. Everyone is having a Good Time, the horns blaring from the band, along with the beating of the percussions accompanied by both the patrons and Dancers who preform and teach those who are willing to dance like a Pro. This is a must stop on the tour or if you are just strolling along looking for a quick refreshment Ball and Chain offers both a little education from the past and a touch of the present. The transformation of the back parking lot, into an outdoors lounge and dance floor with stage shaped with a Pineapple, to allow headliners to showcase their talents. So next time you come to Miami or the Beaches of South Florida take a step back into the past with a flare or the ever changing life in Miami. Hasta la Vista Baby!

Fantastic place in Little Havana. Great music, delicious cocktails, Vip-area. Best salsa music I experienced ever...

I booked a table here for Friday night at 6:30pm. Upon arriving we wasn't sure where to go to find a host, we walked up to two waitresses chatting away who seemed very annoyed with being interrupted. We were directed to the Host who went to check our reservation, we were left waiting around the entrance for a good 5-10 minutes. She came back over and were informed the people at our table didn't want to move so we were directed into a table inside. This was quite disappointing, especially when the Host told us we had to leave by 8:30pm as someone else booked the table. The food menu was a little limited but it was great as were the cocktails - especially the mojitos.

Hung out here with a friend from work during a visit to Miami. Had soooooo much fun! We went on a Thursday night. They offered Salsa classes prior to a night of live music and dancing. Had a ball!!! The staff is very sweet and accommodating!

Best authentic cocktails we've ever had. Went there in the afternoon, and ordered a couple of cocktails with just the perfect mix of ingredients. Even the live local cuban music was great and added to the ambiance. However, 15% tip was automatically added to my bill along with a gratuity for the band around 10% , which was a bit weird. Don't i pay for the ambiance, service and music when i am paying close to 15$ for cocktails.

A must visit Cuban Bar / Restaurant located in the centre of the action in Little Havana. Great Atmosphere with wall to wall Cuban memorabilia and live music We had the Calle Ocho Burger & Mojo Grilled Chicken Sandwich.. both came with season fries.. Maybe a little heavily on the Calories but really tasty, Would definitely recommend

If you want to taste great authentic Cuban food then this is the place to go. No fancy stuff but just awesome food you’ll enjoy. Very extensive menu choices. If you don’t find anything you like.... you’re just a difficult person. Just try it. I’ll go again!

For a lively spot with great food, check out Ball & Chain for sure. My husband and I weren't even hungry, but were lured in by the live music playing in the restaurant that opens fully to the sidewalk. The next thing I know we were seated enjoying some appetizers and drinks. We had the best time, and the food did not disappoint (and I am Cuban!). Definitely worth a visit if you are in Little Havana.

great place with live music. had a ton of drinks and appetizers and evrything was great. in little havana. great salsa band in back bar outside area. had latin jazz inside. i will definitely return.

We had some delicious cocktails here before we went out for dinner and it was such a cosy evening! The cocktails were very good and the atmosphere was great! We’ll be back!

this place drew us in with their great music and beautiful outdoor area! we decided to try this place for lunch instead of the recommended large, touristy spot. this place was so much fun! we took our young daughter and we sat out back. beautiful!! great mojitos for us and iced lemonade for her. we played dominoes at our table, ate the best cuban sandwiches we've ever had and really enjoyed the live music! the tapas are large servings, 2-3 sandwiches per plate. we ordered the tacos, chicken sandwiches and cubans. so delish! great experience, cool restaurant!

We visited Little Havana while staying in Miami. We decided to go to the famous Ball & Chain for lunch. There was live music and the bar/restaurant seating was already very full. We were offered a table by the band (no thank you!) or to go out on the patio. We chose the patio which was very nicely set up and airy with misting fans blowing. It’s really designed for drinks and it would have been difficult to eat somethings out there, but we chose to share a Cubano and street corn, so it worked out. The food was very good, as was the mojito. We could still hear the music out there. Good service and a nice experience. Not sure what it would be like on a crowded night. Glad we tried it!

The music was amazing. That’s where it ended. The restaurant was pretty empty. We waited about 5 minutes to be seated. Then waited another 15 minutes before our waitress came over to our table to take our order. They had already ran out of masas de cerdo at 3:30 pm so we both ordered ropa vieja. We asked for two waters. Two tiny glasses were brought. The beef was flavorless, the black beans were super spicy I couldn’t eat them. My husband’s black beans weren’t spice at all. He ate mine because $60 JS. Rice and fried plantains were good. The service was horrible. I guess we were paying the $60 for the music. Would never return because the food and service was so horrible.

If you want good food in Little Havana, this ain't it. The food doesn't taste authentic and the drinks were weak. I loved hearing the band play, but that was the only enjoyable part of the experience.

We went there today for lunch. Had cuban sandwich, cuban spring roll, and calle ocho burger. It is definitely something we can mark off our bucket list. The live band was a little loud as it was inside the restaurant instead of outside. But, other than that it was wonderful!! Staff were all so sweet and very helpful if we had any questions.

We came here after dinner for a drink and it must have only been 8pm so was very quiet. Despite this though they had a live band outside and some seating however, not enough. The barman told us that we could sit on a reserved table util the guests arrived as there was barely anyone there anyway. We were repeatedly told that if someone was to come then we would have to move, which to be honest was a given. We still managed to get cocktails in happy hour which was the only saving grace. I had heard good things about this place but it was a it dead, don't know if it picks up later on into the night.

Great mojitos and live music during the day. Sorry we did not have food but we returned on Thanksgiving Day and unfortunately it was closed. We'll try again in August when we return to Miami. A really fun lively place. Daily specials!

This was our first time here. We arrived at 9:30 to watch our favorite band the "Spam All Stars". They played out back on the open air patio, on a really cool stage that looks like half of a pineapple. The place was packed and they had a great jazz band playing inside. Later in the night they had a DJ inside and everyone was having a great time dancing. The bartender inside was not very friendly, (maybe he was having a bad night), but the guy bartender out back was very nice! We had an awesome time dancing to Spam!!! Can't wait to go back.

We had a fantastic time at this place over the weekend. Alexis came to us and was so friendly with us all, a fantastic part of their team for sure. The security are excellent and make you feel so safe. Live music was amazing also. We can’t wait to go back.

If you like mojitos, this is a must stop location in Little Havana. They make this delicious drink in their own unique style. There is live music which reminds one of Ricky Ricardo at the Tropicana. Go to the rear for a great music venue.

Food was awesome. Ambiance was hip and happening until the three piece band left and the DJ began. Cool, little Havana Experience. I’d go back.

This restaurant is in the middle of the iconic Little Havana and has tons of history. There's regularly live music on the restaurant in the front and there's a DJ on the patio in the back. Ambience is great. Of course mojitos are a must and the lechon tacos are great too. No AC but fans and open restaurant front provide a cool ambiance.

There are so many amazing things about this establishment I think I could come and sit out back in a dream ojito for most of an afternoon but I also would love to sit inside and listen to the live music they have So much history and such character and best of all the best mojitos

I know there is a premium for live music but 30 dollars for two small and watery mojitos is taking the proverbial. Most I have felt cheated on this vacation.

Don’t waste your time. Band was not great, DJ was just as mediocre. Service was average at best. Food was so so. Too many other better places you can go and have better time and experience. Again, don’t waste your time. Oh and shoe policy is ridiculous.

this place captures the essence of what I would imagine a bar in Havana would be like. There was on artist painting on the stage while the smell of some cigars wafted through the air. the food was very good . simple menu.

Hanging out in Little Havanna? Well, you must venture into the Ball & Chain. The outdoor section is the place to be. Hang out listen to a live band, maybe do a little dancing...order up some appetizers and let the drinks flow. Awesome staff and a super friendly relaxed vibe. All are welcome, just make sure you are in the mood to have a good time...because a good time is being had there.

For a great mojito and a real taste of Little Havana drop by. Six of us welcomed in served quickly and entertained

Loved this stop on our culinary tour that I went back after our cruise! Loved the live music and the mojitos. They were a little pricey though but it was happy hour time where they were 30% off when we went around 1pm.

This place was hopping when we visited. The energy and positive vibes was an extra plus. Had their B&C Elote which was tasty and plentiful. The flavors of roasted corn, Chipotle crema, fresh cilantro and crumbled cotija all complemented each other.

We were feeling a bit nibbley, and I looked this place up. So glad we popped in. The live music and dancing is great. Great vibes and food. Delish! A lot of people came for an afternoon drink and to listen to the live band. Must Order: corn & fish tacos!

The House Manager took care of us great! Make sure you make a reservation, as the location is in high demand, but it was worth it! The Cuban food was authentic, so much flavor in every bite. We all shared the Chicken, Beef, and Pork dish. Perfect taste. The Mojito and Old Fashion w/tobbaco leaf was unique and best on the Calle Ocho! The live music was off the charts cool. The manager made sure we had a table and a table in the Pineapple Shell for dessert and Cigars. Excellent time, made our trip to Little Havana memorable.

I want to give Ball and Chain the benefit of a doubt. We love the atmosphere in front and especially the lush garden courtyard and stage in back. The Sunday evening we went, the band in back was terrible and not Latin. Also don’t order the Basil margerita - it cost $15 and tasted terrible. I will go next trip and hope for better music.

We went to Ball & Chain during the Little Havana Miami Culinary Tour - we had the best Mojito during our week long stay in Florida. The local musicians and dancers were entertaining. Wonderful!

Absolutely way too long to wait for a drink. OMG. We finished our drinks and left. A waist of good time.

We visited Little Havana after the news of Castros death. After a wander around we went in the Ball and Chain. Drinks selection was good. They had a Cuban 3 piece playing which added to the atmosphere. Drinks weren't expensive and the small food menu was fairly well priced. I imagine the atmosphere at night is pretty good too.

This is what we imagine Cuba would feel like. Great location in the heart of Little Havana, across from Domino Park. Metered parking on the street and the trolley went past. Happy hour was two drinks for one from 4 to 7. Very nice cocktail selection and many draft beers on tap. Enjoyed the Cuban tapas, they were small but tasty. The live band Pulled us in, with music in the front and the garden. Cigars were in on the menu and a few were enjoying them in the garden. We will be back!

Location is good. Just in historical Little Havana. Atmosphere is great . Live music here. Good spot to take a rest. The food I ordered is good. Especially, the Angus Burgers.

My bad part of the review is based in my final part of the night until then things were better. It was our first time there and at first it was nice , eventually got way too crowed and hot but the environment is definitely inviting and fun , the drinks are good but expensive for the size you get. We didn't try the food. At around 12 my female cousin started feeling bad (she only had a piña colada) and we decided to walk outside because we felt kind of claustrophobic in there, as soon as we got outside she passed out and thanks to my husband and brother in law being so close she didn't hit the ground, what happened next really messed up for me with this place , the main door man or manager dressed in gray asked us to please move out of the way (we weren't interrupting the entrance at all) and my cousin wasn't even conscious yet , there was also a cop in the premises and didn't even offer their help, the bouncer dressed in black allowed me to go inside to grab some water despite of the long line to go in again (and to that and thankful) but just be aware that all this people care is the money you can spend but if anything bad will happen to you , they will need you to get out of their face. Sad and will not return

Place is great! Good drinks, wonderful life music.... but sketchy bills. At 4pm on a Sunday they charge gratuity on top of service charge. For what? No1 seems to know from the waiter to the bartender. That at just not ok

Went here after hearing that it’s a place you have to go to. I checked reviews and most were positive. So we went on a Saturday at lunch. We were seated right away and ordered our food about 10 minutes later. Drinks arrived and were good. You could see one man really hustling to get people their drinks and food. It appeared that only one woman was taking orders for at least half the restaurant as well as the only person with the mobil unit to collect payment. It proved to be too much for just two people. We didn’t see her again for 40 minutes or better. We received our food. My sandwich and fries were not even warm. Music was so loud my head hurt. Really not a great experience. I have to assume they are understaffed as I hope they don’t run that place like this every day. We will not be back.

Excellent drinks and happy hour 4 pm to 7 pm my fav cañita : White rum , guarapo and lime juice . Live music till 6pm . Week ends good energy , live Rock band in the back patio. . A good taste of latin culture.

Quintessential Little Havana - the bar food was superb, and the drinks excellent- the music of the 4 piece playing at the entrance was what brought me in though - just a shame I can't be here at night, as I just have a brief visit. Fabulous bar.

Heard some good reviews in a TV program and went with some out-of-town friends who wanted to get a taste of Cuba. Left never wanting to go back. Very little on the menu is remotely "cuban-style". Items on the menu might have some traditionally Cuban ingredients, but prepared in ways that you'll never find in traditional Cuban cuisine. The bar-area décor is ok for a bar, and the outdoor area is pretty nice except for that kitschy hollowed-out pineapple stage. If you're looking for real Cuban food and good mojitos this is not the place to go. You're better off going to nearby restaurants that serve excellent food, delicious traditional desserts and great mojitos at a fraction of the price.

This venue is located in the popular 8 street, Little Havana. This bar has become a popular hangout. Good place to hang with friends, they have live music and they change the bands depending the day of the week. They offer small appetizers which are very reasonably priced during happy hour and are very fulfilling, I was impressed they tasted pretty good. They also offer happy hour drinks 2 for 1.

We visited for a night cap. The drinks are amazing and an amazing selection of cigars. The music and the people dancing was so awesome to experience. Little Havana is cool. A great beer garden.

We loved this place. Mojito was a bit bartender dependent however music, vibe and great tapas were consistent. Must visit in Miami.

We stopped in on a Sunday and had a great time. The band was very good and the place is full of history. The mojito was awesome!

fantastic bar with super friendly staff. live music a few get up to dance too. great food and plenty choice of drinks. lovely atmosphere

We went here for mojitos on our food tour (fabulous!) and the music was great along with the drinks! The band is really fun and a policeman on horseback even joined in!

We had after work cocktails and tapas outside on the rear patio. I’d you need A/C then stay inside. Excellent service and music. Be aware aficionados may want to try their newly purchased or favorite old cigars on the patio too (you’re in Little Havana after all). At least when we were there, there was adequate air movement to create more of an old Cuba feeling than being in a smokehouse or Green Egg.

My wife and I stopped in for a drink while walking around Little Havana. A very spacious bar/cafe that had a live band this Monday afternoon. I had a fresh lemonade and my wife had a virgin mojito, and both were very good, and reasonably priced, I suppose because they were non-alcoholic. It was a nice break.

An airy bar and restaurant with a lively atmosphere with music and performances. The mojito is drink of choice - a cuban classic - and quite honestly the best I've ever had. Ball & Chain is rich with history, established in 1935, and was an iconic nightclub and bar during the 1930's-1950's with notable guest performances by Billie Holiday, Chet Baker, Count Basie and more. Ball & Chain is a "must go" for anyone near Calle Ocho.

Place is huge. The back area is nice to hang with with your GF or wife. Bathroom is small but clean. Live band is pretty cool. Watch your bill as they charged for stuff we did not order. We New Yorkers are immune to that game no matter how drunk we are👍. Plus no matter how much my kids distract me I'm always on point. $9 for mojitos and they include tip in the bill. Drink was ok and glass was small. Cool artwork on the wall.

My daughter and I went to watch a domino tournament. That in itself along with the band playing in the bar was very entertaining! The food was amazing and the server was very attentive. We’d definitely return!!

Well we got off the Hop on Hop off bus and were thirsty. Spotted this place across the street but never expected what we got. Sit out back on the patio. You can still here the great live music from the front but enjoy the great surroundings in the back. The food was great. Spit a cuban sandwich they are big. The drinks are 13$ but really good. Everything is so clean. My husband noticed the manager walking around just spotting and picking up bits of anything that didn't enhance the place. Service is with a smile and very good. Do some homework before going as I did not know that this place is a landmark from the 1930's. Billie Holl[day once was singing at this venue. Mobsters owned it back in the day. We were there during the day but I bet this place really rocks at night. We ubered it back to the hotel (North Beach) 30$. I wish I would have know the history before going. Hope to go again someday. Zaguts has a good rating on this and it should.

This place was playing fantastic music but it was so packed inside it was crazy. We had no room to stand anywhere and they kept letting people in. The bartenders were pretty amazing with the insane amount of people they were able to get out drinks, impressive. I would have enjoyed it if it was not so packed. I ended up leaving after an hour and went down the street. This place was just to crowded for me.

Great hstoric bar with great music. If you are looking for a great authentic Mojito this is the place to go.

We were there during the day and it was wonderful to relax there. The Mojitos and Lemonade were delicious. Late in the afternoon until the wee hours this place lights up with Salsa dancing and live music. It's supposed to be fabulous, but we weren't able to go at night.
Cool place for food and drinks
Ball & Chain is a really cool place to go for food and drinks with a brilliant atmosphere and great live music. We sat in the main bar where there a small band playing but there is also a nice outside area with different live music. Cocktails were really nice and we had the cuban sandwich and quesadillas to share and both were really tasty. The staff were good and we were glad we stopped here as it has a rich history and lots of cool posters on the walls and everything about it was fun.
