On a rainy Saturday, we brunched with family and friends at this lovely bistro. A wide menu, great service and a warm, casual atmosphere.

Delicious dinner - highly recommend prosciutto and melon, shrimp scampi pasta, tiramisu and cocktails.

Great Italian restaurant. Food was truly excellent. Nothing wrong. Outdoor seating is a plus. Would definitely return.

Went there with my family after a day in NYC. This is the place to go if you like fresh-made pasta in a tapas style. Portions are very reasonable and perfect for sharing which is the idea. Great selection to satisfy every pallet and every taste. Will definitely go back again.

This restaurant is totally trendy and has cool vibes. Everything my husband and I had here was amazing. We started off with a cauliflower grapes, marcona almonds, balsamic dish, I would highly recommend this for a light delicious appetizer. We split penne ragu alla bolognese, ricotta, had great taste, but the portion size is to small to split if hungry. The best thing was the dessert, we split the pistachio ice cream which I would love to have some right now. Some of the best pistachio ice cream I have ever had. We also had the Nutella Sundae which was really good as well.

Branzino, Branzino, Branzino! Literally, one of the 2 or 3 best dishes I have ever tasted! It was so good that when we return, we are going to start with that. That being said, the meatballs and sheep's ricotta was wonderful as apps. I had this spaghetti pasta with clams that was dangerously good. Our server Brandon could tell it was our first time and took the time to have a "menu journey style" dialogue, that shaped our evening of ordering. We cannot wait to return. Forgive us for the pics. We started eating before we realized we wanted a pic.

Don't be mislead by the pretty pictures on their web site. Nothing they serve looks like it. It's all just a glob of bad pasta with bad sauce. The Burrata came out looking like soft boiled egg whites slopped on top of a spoon of red peppers from a jar and 2 pieces of stale bread. Awful stuff! The food was so salty we had to ask our waitress why it was. She said it's their style. They put an extra teaspoon of salt in each dish to "enhance the taste". I could go on, but you get the gist. Stay away, the food overpriced and just plain not even close to any Italian food I've had.

Excellent attention and service from all the people who served us, especially our waiter David. We celebrated our anniversary with a delicious dinner. I will definitely return.

Our dinner was amazing. The meatballs and fiori di carchiofi were outstanding. The pasta was melt in your mouth. A rainstorm began while we were seated outside. All the outside diners were ushered inside and seats found for us without much of a wait on a busy night. A special thank you to Tricia and the other staff who went above And beyond to make our anniversary special.

I went to Bar Primi for the first time with my friends for a friend's birthday. Our meals and appetizers were delicious. Highly recommend the bruschetta that everyone raves about. The ricotta bruschetta has fig and italian honey. It was delicious! As an entree, I had the spinach cavatelli with veal and it was delicious. My friends all loved it as well. The white wine was delicious. Overall, the service was exceptional. We had water, wine refilled constantly and the staff was friendly. I loved siting on the inside especially on this very hot (90 degree+ day) but you can have outside or second floor seating. Ps: There was filming of an HBO show going on outside the restaurant and we even had a few celeb sightings in the restaurant.

The crab pasta dish was delightful. The wine list could have been better. Service was good. Would go again and suggest to others if looking for a diamond in the rough!

We tested our luck at the bar as the tables were all booked. Don´t regret the decision as the service at the bar was lively and pleasant and the menu the same as in the restaurant. The crostini we had as a starter were delicious and we ordered a second plate to share. The spaghetti clams and the campanelle crab were very good in taste and consistency, but they must have run out of clams and crab meat as there was hardly any in the plate. But the sauce was delicious so we were happy and did not mention anything to the kitchen. The only drawback is the noise from the music which was not allowing any real conversation. This made us leave immediately after the meal.

Came here for dinner with friends - the food was delicious and the service was great. However, the portions were astonishingly small for the price. We each paid around $20 for a portion of pasta that was 1/2 to 1/3 the size of anywhere else. We were all still hungry after eating our pasta and had to order some bread!

I made sure to call 30 days in advance to secure a reservation for two for a Friday night dinner as this is a 'hot' restaurant. Table was cozy and nice but waitress was very unfamiliar with the menu and couldn't provide much insight. I ordered pasta pomodoro which arrived as pasta drenched in Ragu or Prego sauce - inedible. So disappointed that I wasted a dinner in NYC on this?

We dined at Primi in February and had way more better portion sizes compared to what we had tonight . We came back to Primi for my Sons birthday and had a great dinner, but felt short changed, the portion sized were noticeably smaller. We even have proof from the pictures we took from back in February . We ordered dessert and coffee only for the coffee to come after we asked cancel it cause already finished dessert. The coffee came anyhow only to be luke warm even though they compted 2 cups of coffee ( so big of them ) . Bill came to $ 178 for 3 people and had $ 50 of drinks before getting seated. Native NY'er here, Please don't take advantage . We would like to come back and enjoy a meal and not feel ripped off. Cheapest bottle of wine at over $40 ..really...prob cost them $9-$10 for that bottle of 2105 tuscany. . and yes we tip very high cause service was great, not the servers fault of portion sizes or prices .

The staff was accommodating to seat three of us outside despite missing two people, including the birthday girl for this brunch celebration, and to seat us after we increased the number people in our party at the last minute. The waiter recommended two orders of the ricotta bruschetta so we could each have one bruschetta He was right. It was a mildly sweet way to start brunch. I didn't try the kale insalata but everyone else seemed to enjoy it. The feedback on the strozzapreti was positive. The spinach frittata was huge. I would recommend sharing it. Three of us ordered the breakfast (gluten free) spaghetti and now recommend it to EVERYONE. It is like eating a healthy carbonara. The only thing that would have made it perfect would have been red pepper flakes. We should have asked for that. For dessert, we shared the ricotta pancakes. Definitely a good brunch option. The only thing that disappointed us that the staff did not acknowledge the birthday girl even though we mentioned it when the reservations were made. This is not the place for grand gestures but it is for good food.

Atmosphere was great! Dined upstairs and had a very good waiter. Really the portion sizes were plenty, food was old school Italian. Enjoyable!

Walked in and were seated in less than 15 minutes. Typical Italian fare that is moderately (for NYC) priced. Maître d' made sure we were well cared for.

Fab food. Fab frosé Enjoyed the Brussel sprouts to start, followed by the orecchiette! Would definitely recommend both!

We met up with some friends here for brunch and were pleasently surprised by how amazing the food was. The items that are offered are very unique, so it is tough to imagine what to expect - but no one in our group was disappointed. I had the breakfast spaghetti and I would return just for this!

Great modern Italian dishes - the brussel sprouts are to die for - the pastas very good - very noisy and the staff not very friendly

We split 2 appetizers-beets and brussels sprouts. Brussels sprouts were the best we ever had. Roasted crispy and well spiced. Beets great also. My entree was incredible, -Squid ink campanelle with crab, garlic crema, fresno. Didn't realize fresno was a hot pepper, but was able to pick those out. Other diners said average to good. Service average-waitress was always easy to find, but ordered a second brussels sprouts appetizer because the first was so good. It never came. Also charged for a second glass of wine we never ordered.

A nice place with tables even outdoors. Some noise pollution especially inside, but the food really good. Octopus starter with vegetables. First courses: delicious spaghetti with clams with a must-have shoe (excellent warm bread) and black ravioloni (in cuttlefish ink) with crab sauce. Pasta cooked perfectly. Tiramisu and super pistachio ice cream!

We ate dinner here with a party of 6, sitting outside on their sidewalk patio. Their menu has a more than adequate selection of pastas, meat dishes as well as a solitary seafood choice. The stuffed meatballs as an appetizer were excellent and the focaccia and burrata were outstanding. The bar had some interesting cocktails (try the "diamante" - vodka, proseco, passion fruit and lemon) as well as a reasonable wine list. The waitstaff was friendly and helpful and the venue, with outside seating was nice (although there was occasional street noise). This restaurant is a great choice for casual Italian dining.

food, was quite good, and very nice ambiance...specially liked the stuffed pasta and the burrata, the prosecco that the carry was great

Reserve a table upstairs, enjoy the wine and indulge in the homemade pastas before coming down to the bar for a drink....this place was great. I can't remember what pasta we had, but they were decadent and delicious. I'll be back.

Had dinner here with my husband and kids, staff were attentive and the restaurant was a lovely setting. Dinner was delicious but I would say wasn't really suitable for kids, they didn't offer a kids menu, my kids shared a pasta dish. All in all a good experience.

Delicious food, busy place. I really liked all the dishes I tried. Love Italian food but always looking for something new and they had some great dishes.

Walking into Bar Primi is a feel good experience—the room is warm and inviting—until the jarring and overly-loud music hits. Maybe start by toning down the music or changing it out for something that better fits the visual ambience. We started with an order of Brussel sprouts with pepperoni and grated parmesan—probably the best version of this dish we have ever had. Definitely a winner. Sadly, the food was downhill from there: Two complimentary meatballs were truly boring. An order of squid ink campanelle with crab and slices of a solidly hot pepper was reasonably tasty but really gluey. While the tiny clams on the spaghetti and clams were sweet and fresh, the pasta and sauce were uninspired. Even the bread had little character. There is a short but well-selected wine list—the nebbiolo was a good vintage. Our waiter, a student at Baruch College, was sweet, attentive, and professional We skipped dessert.

We arrived in NYC very close to showtime at a nearby theater. We were hungry and looked for a spot to catch a quick meal. The staff was extremely cordial and accommodating. The meal was quick, but nonetheless tasty. The waitress went above and beyond to insure that we were not late for our show.

Service was a little Slow but they were very nice and we had a great meal! Good spot for last min groups or brunch! Bright and happy environment

I had the fusilli pasta which was incredibly tasty with its lemony pesto sauce. Great atmosphere. Dim lighting. Meanwhile they're bumping East Coast hip hop in the background. Twas dope.

We had family in town for our daughter’s graduation from NYU, and we chose Bar Primi for a place to have a late lunch/early dinner. So ten of us came in around 3 pm and were immediately seated and tended to by a nice staff. Appetizers (I had fried rice balls) were me very good. I had Ziti bolognese as did a number of others at the table and it was excellent. Filled with flavor, and cooked just right. Cappuccino was excellent. A really good cappuccino is a really good cappuccino. Theirs was and I appreciated it. Overall it was a fun place for a party. Great place.

The family went to Bar Primi to celebrate my wife's birthday, including our almost 3 yr. old grandson. There were 7 of us in total. We had a nice table upstairs and the atmosphere was congenial and welcoming - of course it was only around 6 PM when we arrived but it was a Saturday. Good cocktails - they make a good negroni that's a little different than usual and a limited but decent wine list. The nice thing about going with so many people is that we got to try a lot of different things. We had the grilled octopus, stuffed meatballs and rice balls plus one other special i cant remember. All delicious, esp. the meatballs. Entrees included linguine with clams, Paccheri, spaghetti pomodoro and a braised short-rib with polenta among other things. There was nothing left on our plates when done. Overall a very good meal in a nice place with very good service.

Just got home from a fantastic dinner. The waitress was really nice and informative. She recommended very yummy, reasonable wines. The food was fantastic. The arugula and kale salads were special. We all had pastas and enjoyed every bite. Not too expensive. A bit loud in the restaurant upstairs so you may want to come early or late. I love chef Carmellini and all his restaurants. This one is as good as any.

Definitely a great happy hour spot. $1 meatballs, which are amazing but the rice balls(arincini) are to die for!! Good beer and cocktail selection for HH, but make sure you ask for HH menu, because they seemed a little hesitant to give it out. Great outdoor seating on Bowery and plea ty of other restaurants in the area to grab a drink at after.

Three of us dined at Bar Primi and all were extremely pleased with the experience. My spaghetti and clams and kale salad were first rate. My daughter and her date also thought their salads, calamari and pasta entrees were excellent. The wine was reasonably priced and quite good. The servers were friendly, helpful and attentive. We shall certainly return to Bar Primi.

Perfect corner spot for brunching! The ambiance inside was cute and quaint. Grabbed a couple of drinks while waiting for table - try the frozen Aperol Spritz (yummy!). We were lucky enough to get a table outside to enjoy the gorgeous fall day in the NOHO/East village neighborhood. We all had something different from the menu and everything was fabulous and fresh. The "sandwich" was my favorite! Definitely a must stop when visiting the neighborhood if you want excellent food, ambiance and service!

Bar Primi was great. Our dishes were all prepared well. Service was excellent. Friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is pretty tight, so lots of noise But that did not detract from the fine meal we had.

This restaurant was amazing. Everything we tried was delicious. Chef Sal Lamboglia is awesome. He came by the table to say hi. Decently priced, great ambiance, great food.

We had eaten here before and always had the best of meals!! We were glad to see it had not changed! The food is mouthwatering good and the chef is always willing to adjust for any allergies. I had the roasted eggplant dip appetizer which was delicious! I also had the beets salad and my husband had the arugula salad which had cherries and almonds in it. Absolutely yummy! Even though I tend to get full after the salad course we forged on and ordered the orecchiette with broccoli rabe and chicken with fingerling potatoes. Wow! Each dish was more delicious and tasty than the previous one! Add in a little wine and the famous frose and we were VERY well pleased! It is always a pleasure to have a meal at a restaurant that is so obviously well managed and where service is flawless!! We will definitely return and HIGHLY recommend this restaurant!!

A friend and I went there for lunch. We had the Sicilian Tomato Riceballs; it was delicious and the sauce was to die for. The music was great, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. I would definitely recommend it to others.

An impromptu light dinner before our Broadway show. We were met by a friendly hostess who accommodated us promptly. The next part of our dining experience was a wonderful display of hospitality and cooking. Leah, our effervescent waitress for the evening, was learned in all the wines, and provided recommendations on the food. The food! We tried the meatballs entree and the spinach and ricotta ravioli. Both were cooked to perfection, delicious and served promptly. The atmosphere was bustling for a Friday evening but we could still hear each other, the only (welcome) interruptions were when the staff were enquiring about our dining experience. One of the best restaurants I've been to in NY because it ticks all the boxes. Thanks Leah and the Team at Bar Primi!

Went for dinner. Sat outside with a small dog. They brought him a water bowl, which was very kind of them. Ordered the Frosé, which was refreshing on a hot day. $14 so not cheap. Excellent appetizers. The crostini was one of my favorite dishes on our trip. The pastas were savory but not filling. We skipped dessert as the options did not excite us. I enjoyed the ambiance and would come back again, just not super hungry.

Bar Primi is an Italian cuisine restaurant with unique twists to classic Italian dishes. My friends and I went to try out there Pasta offerings which comprised of a New York take on Italian Ragu Bolognese with ricotta for 24,50$. Quite honestly the dish was nice but lacked richness in taste and salt. moreover, adding ricotta to an already weak in flavour dish is not the best of ideas. The atmosphere was nice however and the service was good. My biggest disappointment (except for the price) was the dessert. For 12$ I go an almond ice cream dish with watered down Nutella. Honestly embarrassing for 12 dollars. I ended up paying approx 45$ incl. tax and a diet cola for a diner I would pay no more than 30 $ for. So my conclusion is don’t go unless you want to burn money and even then, I would consider actually burning your cash..

Must try the frozen rose and the breakfast spaghetti. The homemade donuts were also good. Our food did take some time to come out and they brought them out separately! We weren't too happy about that but the waiter was very apologetic and kept checking up on the food for us.

had an amazing time at bar primi, the food was great as well as the service. Malcolm our waiter showed us an incredible time. I would recommend the ricotta crostini and the rigatoni carbonara was the best carbonara I’ve ever had. I would recommend this place to anyone I know visiting New York and definitely will be back.

I was here recently with a large group. I was told there would be a prix fixe menu for a group of our size, determined the day of our reservation. I let the restaurant know of several allergies a member of our party had so everyone would be able to enjoy dinner, a couple weeks in advance of our reservation. When we got there, the waitress acknowledged the allergies and said everything would be allergen free, but for the rest of the meal she seemed annoyed and was inattentive. Waiters brought out the food but would never announce what it was, and we were not given a written menu. This seems like bad practice in general, but especially when someone in the party has allergies (for example, there was a pesto and it was not clear that it was nut-free until we tracked down our waitress and asked). Then a main dish was brought out that did contain nuts - this was announced and we were told it would be the only dish that our friend couldn't have. Two minutes later, another main dish was brought out that ALSO contained nuts. The waitress blamed this on the kitchen "reading the ticket wrong." My friend asked for a version of the dish that she could have, and they obliged, but this situation was annoying and dangerous. They also didn't bring out serving utensils for ANYTHING - we eventually had to ask for them to avoid cross contamination. I expected the manager, or anyone really, to come and apologize, but no one came. I went downstairs and spoke with the manager, who said she wished I had told her about the situation sooner (I told her as soon as I realized no one was coming to acknowledge the mistakes). She was vaguely apologetic, but did not seem to understand the seriousness of the restaurant's mistakes. At the end of the meal they provided us with a complimentary after-dinner drink, but this felt like a small gesture given how rudely we were treated by the waitress, and by how nonchalant the employees were about the whole situation. Long story short - we enjoyed most of the food, but be extremely careful going here if you have allergies. The stress was not worth the positives.

Walking around NYC the time can certainly get away from you. We found ourselves at that awkward 3:30 pm restaurant hour when many places stop their lunch service to get ready for dinner. We looked at the menu posted outside and decided to give it a try....a glass of Oregon rose, and excellent large and hearty fresh beet salad with a yummy yogurt dressing, a big arugula salad with big dried cherries and macadamia nuts was plenty of food. They are well known for their pastas so we had the one prepared with saige and clams. Very good. Service was good and the interior was quite pleasant. Give this place a try if you are down in the Bowery .

Super food, it costs some issues of the atmosphere. It is expensive like everything in New York respect Italian food The inside tables are noisy, some outside have the smell of garbage from the street. The service is excellent, the food is very good, the ham starter has never been seen in quantity, the bread is sublime, the branzino is spectacular, the pasta is super. Super Toramisu Dessert I would improve the atmosphere Expensive wines but that's how it is in Ny Good recommendation It's not Italian American food style, luckily.

We had reservations and were placed upstairs. The restaurant was set up in a way that made you feel relaxed. We were able to talk over dinner without having to fight a ton of noise. Food was good, exactly what you would expect! Wait staff was great, friendly. We started with some apps, the arancini was fantastic (whatever sauce they come on was the best part). Would recommend and would go back!

The ricotta crostino was a great starter, very flavorful, the breakfast spaghetti was a bit on the salty side, perhaps a bit more cream or a little less bacon would have done it. But, I have to say, sitting outside in the sun enjoying a Primi punch cocktail does brighten up a Sunday. Will definitely be back to try the squid ink campanelle.

We had a delicious dinner here. We shared a couple of the smaller appetisers - meatballs and crostini and then we both had the pasta dishes, which were really delicious and unusual to what we had tried before in terms of their preparation. Service was prompt - actually too prompt for us as we prefer to linger over dinner but we should have told them that upfront so they slowed down the speed at which they brought the dishes. Great ambience, nice selection of wines and limited selection of cocktails although they will make what you ask for.

Good location in a busy area. Several of us had a delicious brunch here. We had a variety - breakfast sandwich, yogurt with homemade granola, baked eggs. It is hard to say what was best. There is something for everyone. If you have a sweet tooth the ricotta pancakes sounded delicious, but I resisted. Good coffee!

I was really looking forward to this brunch, but the meal let me down on several levels. First, the waiter was tardy and then when taking our order seemed to not care. Second, everything was overpriced by $3 and the meal itself was not fulfilling. Tasty, but would require ordering 2 brunch dishes to feel sated. The good things - frozen rose and the atmosphere is airy and happy. With a large group, it could be really fun if they get the food in line. However, I was really disappointed and won't be heading back here for brunch.

we were four people dining tonight. We decided to share all dishes. Since my son was here before, he strongly suggested we order 2 of the Squid ink Campanelle ( as he was dreaming of this dish after having it the last time). We also ordered Rigatoni eggplant pasta and Spinach cavatelli. We started off with the rice balls. Dessert was the Tira misu. Everything was delicious. Portion sizes were good and all dishes were very tasty. Highly recommend this place.

Five of us for dinner. Each meal was better than next! Great service. NYC restaurants are extremely expensive but Bar Primi is worth it. Tip....Order the sandwich as an appetizer and ask that it be cut into pieces.

Our extended family enjoyed dinner at Bar Primi. The downstairs is a welcoming bar format and upstairs a great place for dinner. Not too noisy -just robust atmosphere. The staff was friendly and the food very good. A bit pricey but this is NYC. Would have hoped that they had Caprese salad on the menu and bread with olive oil (doesn't every Italian dinner?!). They also seemed flummoxed by our request for limoncello after dinner. Come on!

The home made pasta is so good. Pull up a seat at the bar, order some pasta and wine, and get ready for a wonderful evening! Friendly service.

After spending a wonderful day in the city walking with two lifelong friends, we happened to luck upon Bar Primi. We were really just hungry and tired of walking around trying to find a place to eat. One of my friends has Celiac's disease and needs a gluten and dairy free meal so pasta is usually a safe bet for her. We were lucky to snag a seat outside for a mostly enjoyable atmosphere. Three girls seated behind us, who appeared to be friends with the hostess, ran not one, but two tables off with not only their loud and r-rated language, but lovely discussions of tampons. We, however, were not deterred. It has been 10 days since my visit and am already dying to go back for the same meal! I had the rigatoni jersey corn, bacon, maitake (minus the maitake). It appears to be in a really light cream sauce - not a thick cream sauce but a really light sauce. My friend with celiac's disease ordered the same thing but be warned, this meal also comes with green onions even though it's not listed on the menu. She also cannot eat onions so she spent quite a bit of time picking them out but like me, ate every bite of her meal! My other friend ordered the bucatini lamb amatriciana. They also each ordered an appetizer each; capresebufala mozzarella, watermelon and beet salad pistachio pesto, pimenton yogurt. They also enjoyed 3 glasses of wine. We spent a couple hours here before the long trek back to Grand Central Station for the ride home. Heading back up for a cruise next month and hoping to make it back for another meal!

Had recommendations to dine here. A bit off the beaten path, but well worth the travel. Dined upstairs and service was fast and courteous contrary to some complaints from previous reviewers. Offered many different wine choices before settling on a nice white and a dry red. The rice balls were served just right with a nice pesto. Linguine with garlic was a nice lite entree. The bucatini with lamb was served just right and the paccheri with shrimp was full of flavor. For the kiddos order a cola with natural cane sugar. Would recommend to couples for nice romantic night out without spending a fortune! Nice job Bar Primi.

Great restaurant in the Bowery district. Literally hop skip and a jump from the Bowery Hotel. Actually maybe only 20 meters away? Great vibe, it was very busy. They have tables, booths and even an upstairs area. We sat upstairs at a large round table. Downstairs is a more intimate looking area - whereas upstairs is more open. The food was seriously good. Dish after dish we kept looking at each other going....whoa...tastes amazing. The brussel sprout dish was incredible....and i don't even like brussel sprouts. A friend recommended i try it. Amazing. Solid restaurant.

Loved this place on a weekly basis in 2018 and 2019. Still enjoyed it during 2020. Was looking forward this evening to the beginning of a summer term of gustatory enjoyment when the following incidents took us from surprise to shock and then to indignation. It started with the arrival of the bottled still water. Ostensibly imported Italian water (Oh, stop it. You commit the same Carbon Footprint sin with wine or chocolate or travel or whatever.) We learned from living overseas that if the server doesn't bring an unopened bottle of water to the table then you're paying for tap water. And that's what the Bar Primi server did. Thinking we're just tourists, he had no idea that we know what NYC water tastes like. Shame, shame, shame! I shudder to think what they may be doing with wine. Then came the 'Hey, how come we aren't getting any bread and olive oil this time?' Sigh. And after forty minutes, the arrival of an order of spaghetti pomodoro and one of linguini with garlic. The pasta on both was cold. Not room temperature, cold. The spaghetti was palatable only because the sauce had been at a near-boiling temperature. The linguini had no sauce and no heat. Also, no taste. The addition of seventeen shaved membranes of browned garlic does not add taste; it adds a nasty metallic pang. Not flavor. We would've loved to have mentioned this to a server but for 15 minutes, there were none within hailing distance. I suspect they knew there was a problem and avoided us in case we decided to give them some hail. Want to know how to have a good time at Bar Primi? Come with at least three other people, finish at least two bottles of wine and you'll never notice what's wrong. You have my blessing and my envy. P.S. The outside seating is painfully loud. We were so bored from lack of service that both of us downloaded a decibel meter app and discovered that on a Monday evening, it never dipped below 68 and was often in the 80s.

We were able to walk right in on Saturday night and have a delicious pasta dinner and bottles of wine. Very happy with the service and the food.

What a great place in Greenwich Village with a varied menu, sure to please anyone. We had lunch here earlier today and met some friends. Great cocktail and wine menu, sure to please anyone, as well as a great menu selection. Our party of 5 enjoyed 2 appetizers - rice balls which were amazing and tasty as well as crostini with goat cheese and truffled honey - a nice combination of flavors. After lots of conversation and cocktails, as well as wine/prosecco, our group chose a few dishes to share - kale salad, orichiette with sausage and broccoli rabe and a prosciutto sandwich. Will definitely return. This place had very attentive service and great vibe.

This place is very cute, and on a great corner spot. They have some outdoor tables, so it's nice for a warm evening. We were pleased to get a fairly last minute booking on a weekend evening. The bottle of Vermentino we ordered was really nice. The appetizers were a bit hit and miss. We ordered the beets and the burrata. For both, while the flavour was nice, there was too much other stuff going on, which kind of covered up the flavour of the main ingredients. But the winner of the meal was definitely the seasonal homemade pastas! We both ordered the squid ink pasta with crab, and we were really glad that we did as we both ate all of it. It was really delicate and creamy, and melted in your mouth. The cherry dessert pannacotta was really nice too. Definitely come by for the pastas and dessert.

I went to Bar Primi strictly to try their famous frosé, but was so happy I went for many more reasons. The food was perfect (my friend and I shared some small bites, such as whipped ricotta with truffle honey on toast, and rice balls with pesto) and tasty - had we known, we would've just planned on staying for dinner. We sat upstairs and the ambiance was upbeat yet cozy - the place was full, but the light wood furniture with candles everywhere created a nice atmosphere. I would highly recommend putting Bar Primi on your NY "must" list.

Nice restaurant with excellent Italian food. Service could have been better. Even if we visited on a not too busy night - there were several free tables - it was very evident that the waitress wanted us too eat, pay and leave as quickly as possible.

they take reservations, they are quiet when they first open, you will have excellent service and tasty pasta if you go early, and i'm sure you can take the noise level if it is crowded and you are not deaf. Which I am.

This is a great little place! Their appetizers are always great (rice balls, broccoli rabe, and cheeses - all good), and they really do always cook their pasta perfectly - not soggy at all. Even though it's the simplest ish on the menu, their spaghetti pomodoro is the ultimate comfort food. I will go back, just for that.

A great new pasta shop by Andrew Carmellini. Enjoyed a wonderful post-Christmas lunch with old friends. The service is friendly and efficient. The pasta is super fresh! And the tiramisu is a must have!

Ate brunch here recently. Service was stellar, food was great, but a gluten free pasta dish threw the kitchen off. We waited almost an hour for our food. Normally wouldn’t bother to go back, but waiter had the manager take off the late dish, apologized, and tried to make lemonade out of lemons. Nice recovery gang, we will be back!

First, don't bother calling to reserve as the people answering will not take reservations, are not on site, and therefore can't even tell you how crowded it is if you decide to walk in. Being close by, we walked over and there were plenty of tables so we stayed. The arugula salad salad was lovely, the basic pasta was, well, basic, but good, and the orecchiete with broccoli rabe (minus the meat) was full of the broccoli and quite flavorful. The bartender was pleasant, hosts and server were ok. In a city of outstanding food and atmosphere on every block, it's not a "can't miss," but if in the area, you will likely enjoy the meal.

From the fun East Village location to the service to the food this place was a great find. So many great menu items it was hard to choose. Fortunately my companions were willing to share. Good wine list. The cheese plate and beet salad are a must. They also offer nightly specials. Service is excellent and love the plaid shirts. I will be back.

Found this to be a really fun place. Lively and upbeat. Kinda crowded upstairs, tables and chairs close but you won’t notice once you start diving into the great food. Well portioned, reasonable prices and tasty. Probably more room and quieter on the first floor. A place worth eating for a few or a crowd.

If you are gathering a group of friends and searching for a great Italian dinner, look no further than Bar Primi. My daughter who lives in NYC found Bar Primi and it did not disappoint. Located in the Bowery section of the lower eastside, Bar Primi is a lively, nice, but relaxed restaurant. Great for family, friends or a casual business dinner. The service was outstanding and the food was out of this world. Everyone at our table of eight ordered something different and everyone loved what they ordered. All the dishes used very fresh vegetables and pasta. You cannot go wrong. The wine list is very approachable and staff happily can point in the right without breaking your wallet, which is appreciated. To cap of the evening we had the tiramisu, which was the best that I have ever had. Despite being extremely busy, we had a relaxing dinner and never once felt like they were pushing us out the door. Outstanding service with a smile and a helping hand. Highly recommended.

Everything was perfect ....from the creative bar staff who created the perfect cocktail , to the stellar food (set the highest standard ever for pasta) to the great wine list to the attentive staff. Lovely modern decor - look forward to returning

All the food we were served lacked the hand of a chef. It felt more like fake: fake tomato sauce, artichoke hairs in the pasta, over cooked pork chop etc.

Had a great meal at Bar Primi - great lively atmosphere. I found the food (ordered 2 pastas) to certainly be good, but not necessarily at the level I was expecting from an Andrew Carmellini restaurant. Still good, just not amazing. But if you're looking for solid pasta in a hip, lively restaurant you can't go wrong here.

Visited for our dinner reservation at 6.30 on Friday evening and were seated upstairs in a booth at the rear of the dinning room. At first I thought it rather dark and had great difficulty reading the menu, infact we all read the menu by torch light from our mobile phones! We ordered various appetisers to share, the best being the two plates of ricotta bruschetta and the gorgeous cherry salad. Unfortunately one plate arrived without the truffle honey drizzle which really makes the dish. We informed the waitress and she brought a tiny bowl of the dressing out for us. The mains looked good and tasted ok. Mine was really nothing special though. This is one of my Brother’s go to restaurants for pasta but I would have been happy with bruschetta & salad.

We were looking for a good restaurant to have supper after sight seeing Wall Street and Trinity Church. It was recommended when my wife searched for "Best Pasta Restaurants" near by. Lucky for us, we walk-in before the rush without a reservation. The nice hostness offered us a table upstairs with great amibience. The staff and servers were great! The anti, pasta and insalata were prepared perfectly. I recommend this happening place!

Dining at Bar Primi was a delightful experience from start to finish. I savored the hanger steak, cooked to perfection with a depth of flavor that made every bite memorable. My girlfriend enjoyed the fusilli pesto, appreciating the generous portion size that catered to her preference for lighter fare. The welcoming atmosphere and high-quality dishes created an excellent evening for us both. We left with full hearts and bellies, already excited to return and explore more of their menu. Bar Primi is definitely on our list for future dining adventures.

The best thing of their menu is the Pistachio Ice Cream so good would definitely be back. The service was great a nice place to get a good lunch

My husband and I had just viewed an exhibition at the International Center of Photography, recently moved to the Bowery from midtown, and wanted to eat brunch nearby. I'd been wanting to try Bar Primi since we're big fans of Carmellini's Locanda Verde, plus we both dislike breakfast only brunch places and try to select places that serve both breakfast and lunch items, so we booked a table there. We were exceedingly pleased with Bar Primi. We were offered an outdoor table, but it was too hot and muggy, so we were escorted to a comfy banquette on the second floor. Service, from our initial greeting to farewell, was welcoming, attentive and congenial. Both floors were attractively decorated in an airy modern Italian trattoria style. If we'd realized how huge the antipasti were we would have ordered only 1 but we shared both the ricotta bruschetta with honey, hazelnuts and herbs, and the San Daniele prosciutto with bufala mozzarella. Both were divine! The ricotta was piled so high on the toasted bread I could barely get my mouth around it. We had to try a pasta, and we've always enjoyed rigatoni alla norma since enjoying many fine examples of that dish during our travels around Sicily. I also was attracted to the roast beef sandwich with peppers and melted provolone so we ended up splitting both of those. The eggplant in the pasta was tender and tasty, the sauce was delicious and the pasta was perfectly al dente. The combination of flavors in the sandwich was delectable, though if forced to choose one dish, it would be the pasta. There's a good selection of wines by the glass and the waiter recommended the Aglianico, which I thoroughly enjoyed with all of the above. We couldn't even say the word dessert after stuffing ourselves with all of that food, but next time we may order less so we can see how they do with the sweet stuff. We definitely have to go back for dinner.

We expected a bar, serving small plate Italian on the side. We got a great restaurant serving a fabulous full-service menu, though in small-plate portions that were both sumptious and inexpensive -- priced just right for the more than adequate portion size. And great bar drinks and potions to boot, including a great wine selection.

Loved the decor and atmosphere but they crammed a lot of tables into the restaurant and because of all the craft cocktails, bar service can be slow. Bar doesn't have much standing room around it, so best visited solo or couple during less-busy hours

There are now a number of very good restaurants on the lower Bowery, and Bar Primi deserves to take its place among those. The restaurant is casual, and the place was lively when we arrived earlyish (7 pm) on a Saturday evening. Decor is fine, though not the reason to visit. The tables and chairs, as well as some booths (we were sitting in one on the main floor, but have sat at equally comfortable tables on the second floor) are quite comfortable. I don't think there is a table to be avoided here, unless you want "less" action, in which case the second floor, away from the bar, is more sedate (that is not a negative!). The menu consists of smaller plates, and very few of what might traditionally be called "mains". There is a main which is available every day, and while I haven't had all of them, those which I have had have been uniformly delicious. On this Saturday we had the chianti braised short rib, which was excellent. But you don't go to Bar Primi for the specials. You go for the pasta. And I have never had a bad pasta dish here. The plates of pasta can be eaten as individual dishes, but that would ruin the fun of eating here. Family style is the way to go. One word of caution if this is the way you do go - I have had some pasta dishes which taste quite like others, so if you're not familiar with the menu, it wouldn't hurt to ask the waiter if those which you are ordering are too similar. This wouldn't often happen, but it can. Eating here is a bit like going out for Chinese food. It can work for two, but it's a lot more fun with a larger group, so that you can try more dishes. On this visit, we had the pumpkin angolotti, orecchiette, squid ink campenelle, the lumache, and the star of the evening, the fiore de carciofi. This is a ribbon pasta stuffed with artichoke, among there things, and is as rich, and as delicious, as they come. I would return for this dish alone, and might have it as an appetizer, main course and dessert. Prices tend to the reasonable, particularly for food this good. With one cocktail, two amari ($28), a bottle of wine ($55) and 2 large bottles of sparking water (total $13), four of us ate for $300. Not cheap, but if you take out the amari and the cocktail, you can eat as well for a fair bit less. Service was friendly and casual, but professional. No complaints. I could well become a regular here.

Four people shared a bunch of appetizers and pasta dishes. The portions are large enough. Pasta was well cooked & very tasty. Brussel sprouts / octopus was great. Bronzini was a single filet (we shared it - it was tasty, but small and a little dry), Our server was VERY helpful in deciding portion sizes and choices

Cool atmosphere and they have this frozen rose that's amazing on a hot day- the garlic pasta is excellent as well! Bartender Stefan is very accommodating.

Food fantastic. Service questionable. We waited at least 10 min for water. Then once ordering, it took over 1 hr to get main courses. Yes we had appetizers but coursing this is out is what makes good service. If I go to a restaurant with service that is not good I will likely not go back.

Chefs Andrew Carmellini and Sal Lamboglia deliver an authentic experience at this pasta shop two blocks from the Standard East Village. Chef Carmellini’s years of experience at Cafe Boulud and his own restaurants shine through here in the menu that’s virtuous in both its creativity and simplicity. And oh, the flavors and balance remind you why he’s earned a Michelin Star and multiple James Beard awards. This wasn’t my first visit and certainly won’t be my last. Get in the mood for fabulous pasta and delicious small plates with a Negroni cocktail as good as any on the Italian Riviera. Harry’s Bar move over. Or maybe just enjoy an afternoon of Negronis and a Dan Brown novel at the bar. I chose two appetizers, a small plate of meatballs and a second of burrata with a generous portion of sweet red peppers. Both were exquisite. And for a light lunch they left me satiated. Our teenagers had pastas that were truly delightful and they both were generous enough to share the joy with their parents. The service was prompt and attentive without being overbearing. And the casual cafe atmosphere is a great place to relax. Although we were under a little time pressure with college visits I can’t wait to return and enjoy a slow afternoon here.

An excellent Italian restaurant in the West Village- superb penne bolognaise and the best Tiramisu I have ever eaten. Ambience and service wonderful and great for families- will return

I had THE most amazing ricotta honey and Toasted hazelnuts here ... Drizzled with honey and truffle oil. After that, I was always going to come back. The frozen rose (think slush puppy) and great service confirmed it. It took 5 hours when we turned up for supper. Simple spaghetti with tomato sauce. Nice wines, never made it to dessert. Watched someone eat lunch and the pancakes looked sensational.

Loved this place! First time visit. Really enjoyed the selections and food was delicious! I had the meatballs with fried egg and polenta. So warm, comforting and filling. The sauce is soooo good. Others had the baked fried eggs, pepperoni frittata and crabmeat lunch. We were all happy with our choices. Laid back atmosphere. Great service. Nice vibe. Topped it off with Boboloni! OMG!

The pasta at this restaurant is just outstanding. We also enjoyed the attentive service in a really nice atmosphere.

We dined here Sunday night and enjoyed it very much. The restaurant is on two stories and we were seated upstairs. It was louder up there with music making conversation a bit difficult. It was a young crowd all having a great time. We had 4 pasta dishes which were all very tasty. I had short rib ravioli which was nicely spicy. Portion sizes were not too big and would not have been large enough to share. We began the meal w/ a cheese plate and fried mozzarella and ended w/ tiramisu and almond gelato. All were above average. With wine which was reasonably priced, the meal was $227.00 before tip. Our waiter Gabe was phenomenal. We would return.

Italian restaurant bar mainly catering to the twenty something crowd. Immediately stuck by the noise level. In the background music was playing with a very loud disco beat, & heavy on the bass, Initially could not hear a word of table conversation, but when half the patrons cleared out I could function. Dumb layout on first floor. I would hate to work there. Servers and waitstaff have to negotiate patrons at the bar to get from kitchen to the tables. Second floor was more chill. Disproportionate number of tables were young women in pairs or groups of four. Pasta was reasonable but appeared store bought. 3 mains were steak, fish, or chicken. They were at round $29. When they arrived they were so small, I mistakenly thought the restaurant was tapas style. Service was great. Wait staff was friendly and attentive

We were a party of six, and we were all very happy with our meals. The antipasto salad is great as were the pastas. The ricotta crostini was delicious. We weren't rushed and would definitely recommend

Food and service here are both good. Lots of good pasta selections. Two are house made -- the orecchiette and the agnolotti. Both were very good. The arugula salad with dried cherries, almonds, caprino was good too. Service was friendly, efficient and helpful. The restaurant is right next to the Bowery Hotel.

Nice location, but uninventive food served by uninterested waiters made this a mediocre experience. This is not a new favourite.

Situated on a corner, there are two areas to sit outside and people watch under the red Italian-like awning. The restaurant staff is unbelievably friendly, professional and knowledgeable. My husband and best friend through a magnificent birthday dinner for 15 for me and it was a flawless evening. Water glasses constantly filled, wine glasses filled, clearing done when EVERYONE was thru, it was first glass. The pasta is fresh and interesting, meats are beautifully cooked and bread sticks are crisp and clean. Now, the best part is the price. It is so reasonably priced for being the little sister to Locanda Verde at 377 Greenwich street.

I really liked this place. Ricotta Pancakes where really good. If you go to the Bar ask for Megan. She is awesome!!!

simple and good italian food in a a pleasant place. tasty food. good menu. good wine. really pleasant italian restaurant close to east village. easy and good pricing too.

Went to a private birthday party at Bar Primi. The food was delicious, the staff was fantastic, and it was a great space for a party!

My friends chosen this place for our Easter lunch as I wanted to try some nice pasta, as I am visiting from London. It started with the pretensions and rude hostess that totally ignored our requested to have a table in the ground floor as we were with a baby. There was space she just didn’t want to move a couple of chairs. We went then to the second floor, and one of the waiters had the capacity to hit the babies trolley (how he couldn’t see it). For the food, totally under average meal. The waiter said the Breakfast Spaghetti was one of the favourite, it was totally lacked in flavours, just tasted as black pepper. It was a but more cooked then should and we even requested a lot of parmiggiano to make the pasta taste better. The meatballs at least were nice. Definitely not a place to come back.

The menu here is pretty simple but the food is done very well. Reasonably priced with great service and in a really nice atmosphere, definitely worth a visit.

A pure fluke fortunate walk in - we were a party of 12 that hadn’t booked anywhere for dinner on our first night in NYC. After a few attempts at various venues in the vicinity Primi, although very busy made room for our group and gave us a truly memorable evening. Food was fantastic and the staff so friendly, warm and professional. Would go out of my way to go back there - they deserve every success. Thanks guys!

Wow, what a hidden gem! Must try: ricotta pancakes on brunch, the crustini with hazelnuts and truffle honey, blood orange mimosa! To die for. Great atmosphere, casual, crafted vibe. Great brunch, lunch, dinner or drink spot.

Service is really good at this place, nice waiters. Outside tables are great, inside it’s a bit packed and not too much room, but also noisy. Definitely not cheap 20 plus dollar for pasta, but a nice crowd of people and food quality is worth it a try. Fast service and kitchen which is also a plus for me.

Had a delightful lunch after tour a museum. Festive environment and food choices make selections difficult as it all looks delicious.service was good.

Ambiance? Check. Superb Italian? Check. Friendly servers? Checkmate! Trot don’t walk to the best Italian restaurant this side of Elio and Luca’s.

I have walked by but there was always a long line but that was before the days they used to take reservation. But now they do and on a Friday, I had reservation for three at 6:30 pm. When I arrived, we were immediately seated. I was surprised to see that this restaurant is pretty large with two floors plus outdoor seating. I had one cocktail which was Ok. Then, we had our appetizers and entrees. Our appetizers were: stuffed meatballs san daniele prosciutto calamari fritti One thing was odd that prosciutto came almost right away and we had to wait for the other two appetizers. Prosciutto was finished by the time the others came. Rather unusual for better restaurants. Meat balls were written up everywhere but I found them rather ordinary. Calamari was pretty good. One thing I must say that appetizers were not tapas style as it seems to be the rage everywhere. The entrees were: orecchiette with prosciutto & peas, mint rigatoni with spring onion, bacon, sardo squid ink campanelle with crab, garlic crema, fresno They were all great pastas and well made. I also had a beer. Then for dessert I had Tiramisu (which was OK) and a cappuccino. For three with tax and tip, it came out to be $170.00. A good place to go for pastas

The hostess and manager at Bar Primi lacked customer service and sales skills since those two ladies did not seat a group regardless of the fact that there were many tables and seats available!!! Since they don't care to fill their empty seats (that were not reserved), then they do not get the business and they do not get a good review!!! Perhaps they even refused seating due to the majority of the group being minorities, smh.

Stopped in for lunch in late December, and probably stop in once a month for lunch (it's near my office). Got the ricotta bruschetta (with truffle oil and hazelnuts) and the linguine with four cloves of garlic. As always everything prepared perfectly ( pasta here is always great, al dented and not overcooked as at some other places). Nice wine selection by the glass. Great relaxed vibe and always personable staff.

A nice brunch for 8 on a slow Sunday. It was quiet and relaxed in the upstairs seating area. Service was quick and our server was perky and fun. Ricotta pancakes were yummy but could have used more Nutella. Breakfast sandwiches substituting bacon were good. Funghi eggs on crostini were delicious, albeit a bit spicy. Breakfast potatoes were crunchy and tasty with a garlic aioli. All in all it was a nice experience!

When I travel, I always like to check out as many local places to eat that I can. I've found that when I ask for recommendations from the concierge at the hotel, I'm usually getting a recommendation for a place when they get a commission or some form of incentive, so the food may or may not be good. Using the web is usually my fallback, but when I'm lucky enough to have friends who live in a city where I'm visiting, I'll always go with their recommendations, and haven't been let down yet. Day 2 of my weekend trip to NY included dinner at Bar Primi. Sitting on the corner, Bar Primi is one of those places where you'll fit in if you're dressed up, in shorts, or wearing a flannel shirt and jeans (like the servers). Dimly lit with candles through the place, you quickly forget how close you're sitting to the people next to you as you settle in for good conversation and great food. We started with a series of appetizers: stuffed meatballs, sicilian tomato rice balls with a basil pesto, and prosciutto with summer melon. The meatballs and rice balls came three to an order for the three of us, so there was no fighting over the last one, although we were all trying to get the last little bit of basil pesto sauce from the tomato rice balls. The prosciutto came in a little bigger portion and we actually had a little trouble finishing it, not wanting to be too full when our meals arrived. For the main course, I went with the squid ink campanelle that came with crab, garlic crema and fresno. A little heat from the peppers gave it a nice flavor without being too overpowering, and I still would have considered the dish very mild and okay for those not into a lot of heat. The pasta was a beautiful black that tasted absolutely amazing. I was full but kept forcing more and more of it in, not wanting to waste any of it. I finally admitted defeat, and one of my friends happily dove in and made sure it found a good home in his stomach. Another friend got the bucatini with lamb amatriciana which looked pretty good as well. I'm not Italian and would just embarrass myself trying to eat a long pasta in public (especially next to him.. who had it down like a rockstar), so I tried a bit of the lamb and skipped the pasta. Again, delicious. Chefs Andrew Carmellini and Salvatore Lamboglia know what they're doing in the kitchen, and I'll be thinking about my meal here for some time to come. The Italian places close to me pales in comparison to Bar Primi. You owe it to yourself to snag a reservation here and check it out.

We were a party of 12 and were received very nicely. The service was impeccable and we enjoyed the food. The staff made it a great party. To be recommended.

We visited the City over the holidays and many of the restaurants I wanted to eat at were booked. Locanda Verde being one of them, but I saw on the website that Bar Primi was in the same restaurant group as LC so we booked our first meal at Bar Primi. I have to say the artichoke and marscapone pasta I had was the star of the evening and the best meal we had in the 7 days we were traveling. The sauce on the pasta was like something I've never had before and I wanted to lick my bowl.! I hope to return and have this meal again!

Great spot. Good vibe. Good music. But the artichoke pasta was one of the best dishes I have ever eaten. Truly worth a special trip.

This is fun new spot in the Lower East Side. Very bustling! The octopus appetizer and the short rib ravioli were spot on. Also a very solid Italian wine list. Definitely worth a visit!

I had a very decent meal here with great friends. I think the company helped my impression of the place. The service was friendly, the food very good, everything was adequate but nothing about it knocked me out. I was somewhat surprised that some dishes were huge portions while others were on the skimpy side.

Wonderful family gathering. Wonderful service. Wonder food. Nothing could have been better. Would recommend to anyone...

One of my go-to's in NYC for delicious food, impeccable service and great vibes. The music is always festive but does not overwhelm so you can have conversation. It is the best Italian in the city with a fun bar should you have to wait for a table. In the spring and summer, outdoor seating is great people watching!

Very nice place with good music excellent Italian food and great staff. I was there with my family and we had a great evening.

Bartenders are extremely attentive and serve great cocktails and dinner. It’s easy to go in alone or with a friend and sit at the bar for drinks or a full dinner. The chef’s selection of pasta dishes is excellent.

On the positive side, Bar Primi combines warm ambiance, attentive staff and tasty food (we started the meal with the rice balls which were delicious and we were definitely enthused). However, the portions are prohibitively small. The lamb amatriciana pasta was just about OK (though by no means filling) - but the fiori di carciofi was just ridiculously tiny. So tiny in fact, that the dish consisted of only one single (admittedly long) pasta. Yes, you read that right: ONE SINGLE PASTA. The icing on the cake was that they have the guts to charge $20+ for this dish. We left the restaurant hungry and hugely unsatisfied. Obviously we won't be going back.

Wow great table, great atmosphere and great food! We enjoyed it all. Try the meatballs they are so good! Love the table booths and relaxed knowledgeable staff. So many Italians to choose from in NYC - we had a recommendation from a local and we were not disappointed!

We celebrated our anniversary at Primi Bar. The beginning looked really promising: the hostess was super nice and welcoming, and even greeted us with a glass of Perseco to kickoff our celebration. We both really liked the design as well, and our table was romantic as we requested. BUT THEN CAME THE FOOD: what a disappointing experience: too salty, too cold, too regular...not really a chef restaurant...sorry but we expected for much more.

This place is just awesome. I keep going back ! Food is fantastic, service is great and it's a cool spot.

Consistently some of the best Italian food in NYC. Sister restaurant to Locanda Verde, if you cannot get in there, rush to here instead. Attentive service. Delicious food. Gracious hospitality.

Solid service and food was great for not being too expensive in a city where everything is expensive. Meatballs were insane. Pasta was solid but not unreal. Def would go back

Our daughter booked a table based on a recommendation from a colleague. Perfect. We had a quiet banquette for three of us at an upstairs window. We each enjoyed, and shared, a wonderful pasta dish: orecchiette, squid ink campenelle, and bucatini with lamb. (Watch the hot peppers in the squid, yow!) Along with a excellent Tuscan wine we were fully sated, and very happy. Shout out to our polished waiter, Gabe, who should be on Broadway. With tip, three of us ate for $200, or not bad for NYC.

Simply cannot say enough about this spot. Primarily known for its pasta dishes, the appetizers, cocktails, and other main courses were delicious. The services was great and for a unique Italian experience, I highly recommend.

My Mom is not Italian but my spinach fusilli was just like she used to make...but better because it was spinach pasta. I don't think it will win any "taste of" awards but it's got great tastes. This seems to be the hang-out of the younger crowd. It must be romantic as there seemed to be a lot of what were obviously first dates at the bar waiting for a table. Fair wait for a table, by the way.

We came in town for the day from Florida. (Lol it was a birthday celebration). This Resteraunt is five stars. I can't even begin how wonderful the food is. It is simple food made perfectly with the home pasta. To the gentleman who posted it was not italitalina have you been to Italy? This is not American Italian. (Thank goodness). I can't even decide what was tastier but must confess had the chef prepare a surprise and it was delicious. From the time we entered the Resteraunt until we left we felt like family. Our waiter Laurent was terrific. We tried many different dishes and each one came out perfectly. Can't wait to come back.

We have had a mix of different food and the pasta was very good! The service was kind and there was a great atmosphere, feeling like at home! Also, the location is excellent, next to Washington Square Park and St. Marks Place.

We had a large group (8) family dinner here last week and were seated promptly on arrival. Service by Erin G was very good throughout the meal. The food however was decent not great. The Meatball appetizer was very good as was the 20 Month prosciutto. The mains however were average except the Chicken Piccata. The Pappadelle was meaty but the Pasta was dry and simply too large too be enjoyable. The Squid and Clams were a bit better but also not great. The drinks were overpriced and the desserts were tasty but too small. The place was extremely loud and tables were too tightly packed.

The atmosphere in the restaurant is very appealing as it reminds of an old Italian bottega. Staff is very friendly and responsive. The food, however, is too expensive for what it is. 25$ for a plate of (overcooked and unsalted) pasta is just not justifiable. Also, the name of the dessert I had was misleading. I ordered raspberry panna cotta, but I received panna cotta with 3 raspberries on top. Would not revisit the restaurant.

In the summer you can sit outside which is nice. the food is pretty good, not amazing and not cheap. We had to ask for bread about 3 times. We had a broccolini appetizer that was very tasty but the pastas were a bit overcooked. Both our pastas were tasty. One with corn and the other, the "4 cloves of garlic", is just basic garlic and oil (for $15.50... it probably costs about 50 cents!).

We went because it was listed in the new Michelin Guide and it was convenient. The Buratta starter was outstanding, and the focaccia accompaniement was also outstanding. The pasta was Al dente, a very good thing, and good. The server was very professional as well as being personable. She recommended an excellent wine. The noise level was so high my wife and I were daunted. The cackling was evident above y din. The pacing of the meal was very fast. Too fast in that the pasta was clearly ready before we had finished the starter. Happily, the server waylaid it before it got to the smallish but wide table. We will return when it's not restaurant week to see if that makes a difference.

While Bar Primi was a little on the expensive side, the meal was very good. I had a glass of Lugana, a white wine, and the squid ink pasta with crab. I just came back from Italy recently and just say the food was authentic here!

Fresh Fresh Fresh! Pasta and Salad is my favorite. Lunch menu also included great sandwiches. No matter what your choice is, you can't go wrong. Best restaurant in the area for lunch or dinner. Dinner time is very busy, reservations suggested.

This restaurant was recommended by a friend and what a find. The service, the food, wine all were fantastic. The GM Justin was incredibly accommodating. Highly recommended this restaurant. Great part of town.

Went with a group of colleagues for a work dinner. We had the chef's prix fixe menu and it was amazing. We started with a kale salad, prosciutto and cheese, and arancini. For our entree we had the ink squid, a linguini dish and a pork dish. I didn't get all the names but everything was delicious. The service was top notch and the food was well prepared and unique. I would go back!

My boyfriend and I were in NYC for a long weekend now that things are starting to reopen (we’re both vaccinated). We had a reservation and were seated right away. But it took almost 20 minutes for us to be acknowledged. From then on, everything took just slightly longer than it should have. Our server was lovely and friendly. It was just...slow. The food was fantastic, as were the drinks. We enjoyed everything. Just would hope the service could be a tad quicker next time.

Had a late lunch booking here. The restaurant is in a great location if you want to do some shopping Pre or post your meal. The decor is quite Italian whilst being a bit a up beat. We all had pasta which were good without being amazing. Service was also good, regularly enquiring if we needed more drinks etc.

Family meal here using my UK Amex Platinum offer. This was the least upscale restaurant we ate at on our trip but with the best food and service by far. The young lady from Boston at the bar and Christopher C our Server made the meal extra special with friendly and attentive service. We sat outside as we had a dog - obviously its noisy - you are in the city! Food was great - service was amazing. Thank you.

My husband and I just went to Bar Primi for Dinner earlier this evening. We had just gotten out of the car after traveling into the city and the table we were sat at was outside, quiet and cozy, perfect. The service right off the bat was friendly, and accommodating but not overbearing. Tommy, Aaron and Carlos saw that everything we needed or could possible want was accommodated. Then there was the food… we had arugula salad, octopus, pastas and and Bronzino. Get the Bronzino. Just do it. Finished with amaro’s and some lemon sorbet. Couldn’t of asked for a better meal or atmosphere to start off our NY weekend. 1000% recommend to anyone looking for classic, flavorful, fresh Italian in the city.

My first visit to Bar Primi was a good one. Nice ambiance, good service, and the food was delicious / fairly priced. I will go back for sure.

Sometimes I go to Italian restaurants and feel like I am still living in 1979--but in a bad way. Bar Primi is a breath of fresh air in a sea of old-school Italian places that have lost their mojo. Their flavors are on point and the waitstaff is friendly and helpful!

O k. The good . Bread that I like, crusty and airy in the middle. Flavorful olive oil too. Too bad we had to ask for it after 15 minutes. Pleasant looking place. Nice wine selection. Helpful wait staff and very nice sommelier. The ok, but not that good. The pastas were average. The one with lamb and bucatini had good lamb flavor but tiny tiny little pieces of tough lamb. The linguini with bread crumbs and garlic was less than special. The not so good; the $16 burrata was one of the worst. It was small tough and tasteless. The reason we'll never return: The noise level was deafening. If you want a relaxed pleasant environment where you can hear yourself talk and hear your partner, and not leave with a headache, don't go here.

We hosted a party of 6 last Sunday at Bar Primi where Julietta was our server and we had an outstanding experience. Everything was excellent from the coffee to the Bloody Mary's to all of the entrees we ordered and the service was perfect. Unlike some brunch spots in NY the servings here were ample, nicely presented, hot and delicious. The timing of the meal flowed nicely and the menu has an selection of just about anything you would want for brunch/lunch. We all liked the decor and were seated on the 2nd floor. It's a bit out of the way to get there but worth the walk or short cab ride from Chelsea or the Village. Can't wait to go back!

Everything on the menu looked good. Has squid pasta with crabmeat and it was delicious. Highly recommend

Four of us enjoyed a delicious brunch. Must-haves include the ricotta pancakes, potatoes (incredible!), pomodoro and the egg scramble with egg. And funny enough the decaf coffee was tasty! Excellent place!

Had the bolognese and it was the best pasta dish I have ever had! Service was great and loved the ambiance

Sunny if a little bit noisy spot on Bowery. Great for a late lunch, lots of small healthy options. I could have ordered everything on the menu!

I've been for lunch at this Restaurant, I wI'd have expected a the menu with more choice. pasta was pretty heavy (with sausage, a lot of oil, ...). not my style.

We decided to come here for lunch on a rainy afternoon. The appetizers that we ordered (Sicilian rice balls, a.k.a. arancini and the ricotta crostino) really hit the spot, but the pasta we got was sort of a let down. While the sauces were good, I was sad that they used your standard dried pasta, particularly for the linguine. Fresh pasta is approximately 100x better and very easy to make or buy. I didn't even finish mine because the texture was unpleasant. The meal was sort of saved by the delicious almond gelato that we shared for dessert, which was delicate and refreshing.

We recently celebrated my husband's birthday here and we were really delighted. Food was exquisite. They are famous for pasta but the steak was great, too. Super professional staff and a warm, downtown atmosphere.

We had about 10 dishes and I tasted them all and all were excellent not to mention the service quality. Highly recommendable.

Appetizers were very good and fun we enjoyed the meatballs, sicilian tomato rice balls, truffled mushroom crostino and burrata cremosa. Each had very good flavor, texture and were prepared well. The entrees were small in size and the short rib raviolini was not very good it was virtually tasteless in a clear broth. The veal was very good and the rigatoni was a good pick as well. The wine selection is pretty good and the deserts were above average the almond gelato needs a little more almond flavor it was not the best item on the menu. Service was friendly and timely and the ambiance was warm and cozy on the second floor. We will be back.

Tommy and his team took wonderful care of my wife and I for dinner. The food was incredibly flavorful, the cocktails perfect (try the original frose) and the amaros for dessert we're truly a treat. Aaron and Carlos have built a great team and you'd be foolish not to go see what they and Chef AC can do.

Good place, good service and great Italian dishes. I recommend. (it's a little expensive, but I think it's worth it)

Great place. Sat outside for brunch and had a great meal (breakfast spaghetti) with a fantastic Bloody Mary. I will def go back soon.
Worthy of a visit
The Concierge at Public Hotel recommended Bar Primi, a short stroll from Public. A lovely spot with indoor and outdoor dining. We loved the pasta dishes and yes, an extensive and well priced wine list. Service was ON, not intruding, just right and the food was served hot. I'm delighted we discovered Bar Primi and would not hesitate to return.
