I had a good time at the Barcade late on a Thursday night. I had just wrapped up a visit to the ESB and decided to walk over to play a few retro arcade games. I love this... it's always a must-do when I'm traveling for work. Not sure if I was too late (it was only midnight) but this place was dead and I didn't see enough/good variety of games. Beer selection was solid and you'll still have fun... maybe just bring the party with you or head here a little early to be in the middle of the action.

Fun bar with lots of retro arcade games you can pay to play by purchasing tokens - great mix of games!

We had eagerly planned a trip to Barcade while in New York. Beer and vintage arcade machines, what’s not to like! After walking 30 mins from our hotel especially to visit we were greeted by the doorman/security hunched over a chair in the doorway looking at his phone. “ID” he said without looking up from his phone. At this point we realised one of our group had no ID and began to apologise. “Need ID” - doorman still hasn’t looked up from typing on his phone. We turned and left, he still didn’t look up from his phone. Had he, at any point, have bothered to look at us he would have realised he probably didn’t need ID, everyone in our party was late forties! I appreciate the need to check for under age drinking but this was stupid. Dejected, we walked up 7th Ave and spent a fantastic evening drinking in Yard House. The warm, enthusiastic greeting we received there could not have been more different to Barcade.

It's fab that I no longer have to trek to Brooklyn or Jersey City to get my gaming fix. They have my all time favourite - Mr Do!, but also some other great classics like Galaga, Donkey Kong, Tetris, Joust, Sinistar, Asteroids and Milipede. The beer selection is pretty extensive, and I was able to find three hoppy IPAs that I'd never tried before (and they were all good).

My son celebrated his 29th birthday here by just inviting his friends to come out for drinks and good old fashion fun. Only downside I could find was there were no pinball machines. I wanted to channel my inner "Pinball Wizard". My tokens were spent on Ms. Pacman and Frogger. :) The bar has a large selection of craft beers and IPA's. The appetizers were tasty and perfect to allow more time for playing.

The idea behind barcade, a bar with good craft beer and vintage arcade games is great, but the execution is a little lacking. The beer menu is in fact pretty solid with lots of smaller name craft beers from a few local brewers as well. The menu is a bit heavy on the stouts and IPAs, but isn't bad. The downside is the crowd and the sticky machines. Catering to the video game crowd, you end up with some interesting characters here. In the two hours here, I was challenged to a racing game by a stranger who was just sitting in the game "challenging" any other patrons walking by, as well as getting pushed off the TMNT game. You can't fault the establishment for the crowd, but they don't help much. In fact the staff seemed to be pretty disengaged in general and when we reported a broken glass under one machine, they just shrugged. It wasn't cleaned up 15 minutes later.

A friend took me here for lunch and it was great. Not only was it a full service bar but the food menu was good as well, not just snacks and appetizers. Playing all of the old arcade games helped remind me of my childhood when arcades were around a lot more. All but a few of the games cost a quarter with the others only costing 50 cents. We showed up right after they opened and it wasn't busy at all. After eating and playing for a couple of hours though, it started to get pretty busy inside. Friendly service and a fun time make this a place worth checking out.

Brought mu husband here for his birthday afternoon, and was the best day of our holiday. Loads of cool old school games to play, you get tokens for the machines from auto dispensers. Almost all the games are 1 token (25c) a play which is outstanding value. We did the lunch special, burger with chips and a beer for $15 which is good value for NYC. We really enjoyed our time here its a great range of games and an extensive list of local beers and ales which we enjoyed working through

I had an awesome time at Barcade! For less than $10, I was able to play arcade games and enjoy a nice glass of beer. All night I played Donkey Kong, Ninja Turtles and Tetris. There are so many other classics there, but a few were down like Ms. Pac-Man. Barcade gets pretty packed, so be prepared to wait a few minutes for some of the games to become available. Best of both worlds; beer and arcade games!

I was originally planning on visiting the Brooklyn Barcade but it made matters much easier that there was one in Manhattan. As it says on the tin - arcade games with a bar. The selection of beers on tap was extensive, and during the time there I had beers from Brooklyn and Sixpoint. We went mid afternoon so there was nobody else in which meant we got a clear run of games. I was more familiar with most of the games in their console versions from my youth such as Double Dragon, Rampage and TMNT so there was definitely a nostalgia element to it as well. I wish there was a bar like this where I live but I feel they would charge more per go in England. Also, joysticks and close proximity to beer glasses can lead to unfortunate spillages!

Had a great time here taking me back to my misspent youth playing lots of games from the 80s. Great beer selection. And good pricing for the arcade games too, most were 25 or 50c per go.

I loved the combination of bar and retro arcade. The video game and pinball machines were traditional classics and in good condition. The bar is not over-full with machines and not occupied by gamers. It is just a nice laid back reminiscent experience.

Two children of the 80s stepped back in time on 24th St to play dozens of amazing games from our youth! If you can, go early on a weekday to have the place to yourself! This was an awesome experience, not only the classic games but great drink selection and tasty snacks -- Tetris-shaped tots!

Great 80s and 90s arcade games include TMNT, X-Men, Golden Axe, NBA Jam and many other classics! Plus the beer on tap is great - plenty of craft and local beers. They have an awesome lunch special too - $15 for food and a beer! Games are only 25 cents!

Great bar, great games, wonderful beer and perfect staff. If you enjoy all of that, that's the place. Only american brands on tap. I'm sure you'll find your favorite type. Loved it! I'm definitely coming back next time in NYC.

Really wanted to go to Barcade as I love old school arcade machines and had heard great things about the place. Set some time aside and headed along just before it opening at 12. It looked open so tried to gain entry but told it wasn't yet open. Fair enough. Waited a few minutes by which time others had gained entry and tried again. The barmaid asked to see ID. Being a grey haired 41 year old I took it as a compliment but was unable to provide it as it was back in the hotel. I don't think the couple who went in right before us were asked for ID. I've been in the US for a few days now and yet to be asked for ID but these things happen. Maybe it's going to be the inspiration for an arcade game that Barcade will itself host Enjoy A Retro Video Game. Level One is gaining entry into the establishment but unless I don't have another senior moment and forget my passport I will never know. Game over.

Under the advise of my cousin, I took the long walk to The Barcade and I was very glad. This is a great concept that combines a pub with a game arcade. The beer selection is pretty good, the menu changes on the season. I was impress by the food menu, lots of sandwiches, burgers, and sides. The food itself was really good, tasted awesome. The best part is that you can play arcade games while waiting for your food or friends. It's a great idea and I am glad that one is coming to my hometown.

I absolutely love this place — came here on few nights whilst visiting NYC to indulge in some retro gaming. They've got a good amount of machines and the times we visited it wasn't particularly busy. You play the games by inserting tokens into the machine and games only cost 25–50 cents. Got really into Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles with a few G&Ts.

A friend took us here and we had a great time. The beer selection is pretty good and the novelty factor of playing arcade games and drinking was fun. Being British, we didn't recognise a lot of the games and didn't really have arcade culture when we were kids, but we still enjoyed it here and would recommend it.

If you loved the bygone days of the arcade and stand up quarter video games in general, you will want to visit this arcade which also happens to be a full service bar. Or is it a bar which has arcade games? It doesn't really matter because it will be fun no matter what. They have a great draft selection of craft beers and a pretty decent cocktail selections. The bar food offerings are also pretty good and you can definitely fill up on the food. As for the games, too many oldies but goodies to name but just a few, Donkey Kong, Galaga, NBA Jam, Dragon's Lair, Tetris, Joust, Qbert, Tapper. I can go on and on but it's better if you just go check it out yourselves and relive your youth! But now with a few drinks to help you play better. 😀

My wife and I just sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the staff interact with their patrons. They were so kind and funny and treated us like royalty. It was so nice to feel welcome . We love this place and cannot wait to visit again.

My friend told me about a Barcade in a Glasgow and said go to the one in New York which we did on a cold rainy night. Im a big gamer and grew up playing in Arcades at the Sea Side, So when i heard about this place i had to go see it. It was amazing a great lively bar with tons of drink and food options and an atmosphere like none other, a mix people just wanting a drink and hang and then people who wanted to add Arcade games into the mix. The arcade machines are insane they have some amazing retro machines and you pay for them all with tokens which you get from token machines. (4 tokens for 1$) which is great. Honestly if you want a cool bar and some old skool arcade games then you got to visit.

I’ve visited Barcade in Brooklyn several times, so was interested to see what the Manhattan version would be like and I wasn’t disappointed. Just like it’s Brooklyn counterpart, there are plenty of great craft beers to choose from (20+ drafts on tap), the bartenders are knowledgeable and happy to let you have a taste of anything before buying. I didn’t eat anything, but just had a couple of beers and played the 25c arcade games, of which there are lots to choose from. Always a good time in Barcade to be had and this new version in Chelsea didn’t let me down.

Go! Lots of games, they all worked well, the bar serves all sorts of beer. Definitely an awesome place to spend a couple hours!

Our team leader set up a surprise night out at Barcade, and we all were floored at just how much fun it was. I was never that much into video games growing up but I immediately made up for a productive childhood, and had to be literally dragged away from the Time Crisis game. It's the perfect combination of arcade and bar, with a huge selection of retro games and pinball machines that I love but suck at. The service once you got inside was super friendly and attentive, but the bouncer seemed a bit tense and combative. Strange. A few buddies complained about watered down drinks but they had a lot of awesome beers on tap, so I had no complaints. I don’t think I would’ve thought to check this place out but I’m glad I did. It’s a lot cheaper than buying Time Crisis off of eBay, which I’ve been told by my girlfriend will never happen as long as I’m her boyfriend.

I’m not a gamer, by any means. But, as a kid I definitely got down with some old school Mario and Duck Hunt. And, I still find something pretty charming about arcade games. But, you can’t find a lot of places in NYC to take part in a round of Ms. Pacman. Years ago, I went to a bar in Brooklyn that brought the two worlds of bars and arcades together. Now, Barcade has a new location in Chelsea. With dozens of games to choose from, there’s something for everyone, even the non-gaming type. Who would say no to some Donkey Kong? And, for bragging rights, there’s a “High Score” board on the wall. Of course, they’re a bar too, but in addition to a full bar, they also have food, serving typical bar fare with a twist. As a snack, we got some of their Tater Tots “California Style”. Now, I can’t be for certain as to what California style tater tots are, but, I will say they were good. Piled high, the tater tots were golden brown and crisp on the outside. Then, a layer of a sort of special sauce, that I might describe as a cheese sauce meets gravy with a bit of tang, is poured on top. But my favorite part about the basket was the thinly sliced shreds of perfectly caramelized onions.

Loved this place! Classic games like Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac Man and Tetris. GREAT beer selection and some pretty delicious looking food on the go. The games are 25c, people!!!! Amazing. My husband and I easily killed 3 hours in here avoiding the snow. The bartenders were really friendly and the crowd was pretty laid back. Definitely seek this place out in the East Village. If you choose not to eat there...there's a Papaya King directly across the street. Winner.

Barcade is a spacious, magical place in the heart of Chelsea that has 40-50 old school arcade video games and a refreshing array of draft beer. The selection food is phenomenal too- above and beyond the mediocre "bar food" that you might expect elsewhere. On weekdays, it's a great place to catch up with old friends while competing in some of the class- Ms. Pacman, Rampage, X-Men. On weekends, it gets a bit crowded, so you might want to stay away if you don't want to wait for your turn at Tetris.

Vids + beer = happiness for your grown up self and inner child?!? YES! "Barcade" brings together a great bar filled with excellent craft brews (and a decent looking cocktails list) with retro video games, most for a 'quarter'! Combine their happy hour pints with 25-cent long players (e.g. Ms. Pac-man, Galaga) and you've got some serious value-for-money...and fun! Hoping one of these opens in Toronto soon. Thanks Barcade.

If you like to drink beer and retro nineties games it's THE PLACE. The beers menu is awesome. You can taste really good american handcrafted beers. Amazing place to hang out and play games.

Not only do they have the expected classics such TMNT, PacMan, and Galaga, they even had Q*bert which I used to play on my dad's ColecoVision! There's also various pin ball, a magnetic version of pong that was really interesting looking, and of course a full bar. Games are one or two tokens each and you get A LOT for $20, so I ended up giving a bunch away to strangers because we had to go. Will definitely come back when I'm in NYC again.

We visited this Barcade and the one in Brooklyn and both were brilliant. My boyfriend found his nirvana playing Lunar Lander, and I spent most of time annihilating pedestrians on Crazy Taxi. Coupled with happy hour beer, it was a great experience.

I love this place! Fun! Drinks are around $3-$8. This spot reminds me of college days lol... Highly recommended for friends night out!

What a fun idea for a bar! There were arcade games from the 80's and 90.s. It brought back great memories. They also have a great selection of craft beers and sakes.

I love Tetris so while in NYC we decided to go to Barcade. We knew exactly what we were getting into - that it would be busy and games would likely be swamped. It was both of those things - but we found most people were really respectful about 'lines". We were more, shall I say, "seasoned" than the other people there but didn't feel odd. It was great. I wouldn't go again while in NYC, but glad we went this one time. Oh, and I did get to play tetris!

I went to an event here and really like the fact that they have many choices of American craft beers, some uniquely New York’s. It is a nice place to hangout with friends, drinking and playing games.

I was in the city with my cousin to celebrate her 21st bday (this old lady is 32). We wanted to check out Barcade for all the vintage arcade games... we were there on a Saturday night, between 7 & 8pm so it was fairly busy. By which I mean there was a huge throng of people in front of the bar, so I'm not even sure how you would order a drink. The music is super loud, so we had to shout at each other to have a conversation. Lots of arcade games, good selection in a small dimly lit area with super loud music and empty drink glasses all over the place. Not the sort of vibe we were going for. Left and went to Salvation Taco which was stellar.

We learned of this retro bar the last time in NYC and made sure to visit them on this trip. It was so much fun! The Craft Beets are plentiful, the food was fabulous, the bartenders are comedians and the games make you remember the good old days of playing video games with your friends. At $.25 per game, it’s a bargain!!! Get thee to the Barcade when in NYC.

The only reason I can’t give a solid 5 stars is that it does tend to get a bit too crowded at times, which is totally not their fault. Love this place. Games are good, food is solid, beer is great, staff is phenomenal. Staff really make the place; they def seem to try and get to know the regulars. Dave in particular is great. Craft brew and pinball, what’s not to love?!

Popped in here for a pint and something to eat and was really impressed - wish we had something like this where I live! First off there is a HUGE selection of local craft beers to try - a whole menu worth. Then a good selection of arcade machines to try - put your money in a machine to get tokens - and then most of them are 1 quarter to play - a bargain! Then to top it off the Barcade burger I had was actually surprisingly one of the best burgers I have had for a long time. Great atmosphere, good music playing, and lots of video games - what's not to like? Bear in mind they will not let you in if you are under 21 and will check Id at the door.

What a truly wonderful bar this is. Offering something totally different in the form of old computer arcade machines! All the classics are here, Golden Axe, Mortal Combat, Crazy Taxi, Turtles, Daytona Racing just to name a few. I believe there are over 60 to play. Most games are as little as 25 cents per play so in contrast to general New York prices this can be quite a cheap activity. The flip side though is drinks prices, they are not the cheapest! However a selection of around 18 draft beers leave something for every tastebud. Be warned though, this place gets packed out despite being quite a large venue. Obviously this is due to its sheer popularity and its offering of a different kind of bar environment. Nobody should visit New York without trying this place out especially if you love beer and games.

A group of us that work in the industry wanted to have a good time at this place cause of all the good things we heard about it! Sadly one of our people forgot his ID and he's a bartender in our establishment! Security got the manager and we can already tell he was intoxicated. He literally asked if he had a picture of the ID and didn't have one but we stepped out and waited to get a pic of his ID. Security went to get the manager again while the manager had a smirk on his face. Our person showed the pic of the ID and now saying he needs a physical changing his words! I would understand if he would've turned us down with a professional attitude but he was being very cocky about it. If you're a 'strict' place then hire a more serious person as a manager.

There's something really awesome about stepping back in time to the mid 1980s/early 1990s, right at the height of the arcade craze, but now as an adult getting to enjoy it with like minded gamers...With a side of beer! The Barcade on 24th St is one of the most enjoyable experiences I had in my trip to NYC, full of retro gaming, a great selection of beers on tap, and a fantastic 80s rock soundtrack to liven the mood. If you're a fan of 80s rock, old school arcades, and having a great time in the heat of NYC, you've got to check out Barcade. You won't be disappointed.

I ate there today with some friends and everything was sooooo good. I got the grilled cheese and the California Tots... amazing! They have like 50 different beers on tap that keeps your drinks interesting. And obviously the arcade part was a nice blast from the past. They have TMNT, Donkey Kong, NBA Jam and some great other ones. Definitely worth checking out!

Super cool idea to put old Arcade Games in a bar. The Arcade Machines can be okayed by everyone at they only cost 25-50 Cent. You feel like you were in the past again. There are some classic games like Donkey Kong, Pac Man, Street Fighter and Ninja Turtles. The Bar is cool and the staff is easy and very friendly. Just reduced one point because the Rock Music in the Bar is very loud.

Husband was desperate to visit here on our trip and I'm glad we got to go! Huge selection of craft beers and a cool vibe. It was pretty quiet when we went (so we got to try all the games we wanted!) but can imagine when it's full you might have a wait! Some really awesome old skool arcade games....Tetris, Pac Man, Ghostbusters, Star Wars, Indiana Jones to name but a few!

Friday night drinks were a bit different. It’s a pretty cool bar in town with a strong selection of draught beers. The video games are a fun novelty- worth checking out

Lots of beers on top ( specialty beers, not just American pilsners) and of course old school arcade games. Side by side car races, Pac-Man , Ms Pac-Man, my favorite Qbert.

The barcade is filled with arcade games and pinball from the seventies and up. You can also order drinks and food while you enjoy inexepensive games. Although the games use tokens most are a quarter or fifty cents to play. German pretzel we ordered was huge. Sevice was super friendly, too.

Barcade is an interesting chain of bars and are super hipster in general. However, despite the gimmick of the old school arcade games, they have great beer selections and this one is no exception. The prices are actually decent for NYC and they have generous pours. I'd stop by for a drink again if I was in the area!

Nice little hang out bar with some great games all in working order and none not working (as stated in other people reviews) . Great atmosphere , some good music. Great selection of beer, only let down was the cocktail we ordered was not great!

My wife, best friend and I spent an awesome evening reliving our youth. The best part is now we can drink alcohol whilst playing. It was a great atmosphere with lots of games to choose from. I wish the X-Men game had been working during our vist. But we made do power gaming Golden Axe instead.

Prefer this location over downtown. Bigger, more open space, and better-maintained in my opinion. We went earlier in the day shortly after they opened, so everything was very clean and in order (including the bathroom). Most arcades token operated...taking 1-2 tokens for most games. Tokens can be purchased from machines throughout the space at 0.25 cents each.. (4/$1, 20/$5...). Service both at the bar and at the arcade area were great. Nice to see staff testing out the machines throughout the space. All machines we tried were working as expected. Beer prices were fair (for NYC) at about $8. Pints for the more common weaker stuff (under 6% or so) and 10oz. pours for the stronger stuff. Very easy to get to in the midtown area...lots of major stations and transportation hubs closeby. Given the average prices for beer and food, you'd definitely want to go there for the games...think of it is an arcade that serves beer and food...not a bar/restaurant with an arcade.

Oh...and the food and cocktails were great. Hard to mess up a vodka/soda but the Black Pepper Romaine with chicken hit the spot after a long flight from Seattle. Loving the Rainier Beer wall posters. Decided to try the beer pickles as well. Next trip will have to get some pickled hop shoots. Will stop back in next time I am in NYC.

A good selection of classic arcade games, along with some great beers, makes this one of my favourite spots in NYC. The food is fairly typical bar stuff. I got a plate of chicken tenders which were tasty and plentiful, and also tried some of my friend's cheese curds, which was something I'd not had before. Please fix the joystick and fire button on Mr.Do! It's my favourite game from the era, but frustrating to play when things don't happen like they should.

came here with a friend and there was a wide range of drinks available and also may games and a few arcade ones ( see photos), there were a few lesser known ones but many at a reasonable price of 25 cents. I also played pong and tried a multi nintendo game one, which was 25 cents for a certain amount of time or 0 cents for slightly more than double that time, game over when the time ends ( this included mario 1 ? , mike tysons knockout , castlevania and more), shame this was time restricted. there also a hologram game which talked to you but I couldn't hear what was being said due to the noise of the bar and other machines Shame some of the lesser known retro games but there a turtles fighting game and a golden axe two?, crazy taxi and more it's well worth a visit

Me and my partner were recommended this Bar by one of the staff members in our hotel, and absolutely loved it! It is such a fun, vibrant place to have a drink whilst play all your favourite arcade games from your youth! We went during a week night, so was quieter than a weekend I'm sure, however still full of excited tourists and gamers! Drinks were the cheapest we had come across in barcade, an amaretto and coke had been costing me 18 dollars, 8 dollars at barcade!! There is a token dispenser just to really make you feel like you were back at the arcades too! We had some time to kill on our last day so returned for a few games and cheap drinks, recognised by the bartender which was nice!! I could imagine this place being a gold mine during the weekends, but would 100% recommend a visit, even for those non gamers or those not too great at games (like me)!

We had a family get-together at Barcade and had a blast playing all the old games like Pac Man!! It was fun to try the pinball machines and the Batman Forever video game! Very good selection of beers - many were new to us! Fun place to go to as a family - ranging in age from 20’s to 60’s!! It was a great place for all ages!!

One of the best bars I've ever visited. Huge selection of varied types of beers & helpful friendly staff. If you want to enjoy some awesome retro gaming then this is the place to go. Original, un-modified arcades at just 25 cents a pop! You can play all night and hardly spend any money. Hours of fun to be had here. There is even a high-scores chalk board on the wall with some incredible scores listed. If you have a couple of years to spare you could try to compete with the elite on that board. Visited with my wife who has no interest in gaming but even she was sucked in by the fun atmosphere & addictive retro arcades. We both had a great night. If you are visiting NYC & like gaming then you can't miss this place. It's amazing!

What a cool place to hang out. We stopped here to kill some time and ended up not wanting to leave. The games bring you back in time and are so fun to play. The food and drinks are great too! We had a great time, but go early because I can see it getting crowded and having to wait for games like pac man.

Was looking for something different for lunch and found this. $15 lunch special includes sandwich, fries & beer.....All the essentials.

This is a great bar to while away some time. What makes this bar so great is the arcade games, hence the name Barcade. At 25 cents per play this is one of the great bargains in the city. Unfortunately this is not a secret and this is why this place can get very crowded at times. I am sad to say that the Simpsons game is no longer here at this location. Here is a rundown of some of the other games. X-men (6 player game) Teenaged mutant ninja turtles (4 player game) Golden Axe (3 player game) Galaga Contra Empire strikes back Return of the Jedi There are many more games, I just cant remember what else there were. Stop by, enjoy the fun

My husband loves arcades. They had lots of cool and old games. I enjoyed siting at the bar trying all the different bars on tap. The bartenders are very helpful and will answer all your question. I had the best waffle grilled cheese and chicken sandwich ever. Plus the Tetris tots are so good!

Friday night. Crowded. Loud. We didn't stay long enough to play any games, but the drinks were good at a good price, and service was really good considering it was literally wall to wall people. Great if you like that type of thing. I think I'll try it on a weekday next time. The TMNT game looked FUN, gonna have to try that someday.

This is a busy place on a friday evening and weekends, but if you can get there outside of peak times it's a great way to spend those spare quarters in your pocket. The beer selection is also good and the staff are friendly. Make sure you play the x-men game!

We went for lunch this past weekend. The atmosphere was fun. I loved seeing the games and the chalkboards were cute. The food was really good. I opted for roasted turkey which had an amazing basil pesto aioli sauce. I shared an order of fries with my sister, and they were perfectly done. They were crispy and delicious. It wasn't too busy yet, as it was in the mid afternoon. The only down side was the one bartender we ordered from wasn't terribly pleasant. It felt to me like we were an inconvenience being there. The girl who cleared our table as we were finishing up was very nice.

We went on a Wednesday evening (about 6), and it was pretty busy — no seats, no tables, only a few games open. We were still able to order at the bar, and got our drinks and food pretty quickly (and just carried them around while we ate). The beer selection was diverse and had something for everyone, and there was a Happy Hour pint + shot combo for $10. I also noticed a couple vegetarian options and a gluten free option for food, but most of the fare was small plates or to-share bar fare. The bartenders were friendly and chatted about the beers I ordered when I hung out at the bar, and we got a few dollars worth of tokens and played a few games together. I was glad we made some time to stop by here!

This was a fun activity for friends to share. There is a full bar and dozens of old style video games. All different types of games are there.

We didn’t eat any food, we just went in to check out the great range of arcade machines, would recommend just for that alone

Spend a couple of hours on Barcade, which is a bar full of arcade games playing health metal. The environment is relaxed, but the noise level is high due to heavy music combined with electronic beeps from the arcade machines. Machines are old school... From the 80ies mostly. Donkey Kong, PacMan, shooting and driving games. Gaming was pretty cheap, but a drink was 12 dollars.

I have been to other barcades in different states, and this one has been the worse. Costumer service is terrible, and some of the games took your money and didn’t even work.

Awesome place to drink and place old school arcade games! Prices are on par with every other bar, but with a large selection of craft beers. Can get super crowded and hard to find a game to play though.

This is a must see in NYC! All of the classic arcade games you could ever wish for! Honestly, I never ordered food or drinks from this place. I only come for the video games. It is a great place to go for birthday parties, date night, ect.

I was looking for a fun distraction while my better half was shopping. I'd heard of Barcade so searched it out for a couple hours of fun. They have a great deal on food and drink before 4pm, I ordered a hero meatball sub and a cold brew. I'm a Pin-head and was a little disappointed to find only 4 pinball machines, but great variety of Video games. The star of the visit was the Hero sub and fresh fries. Perhaps the best lunch I had in NYC

Great bar! Only writing this review because I saw others say the door guys rude. Not the case. Just have your id! Very well run business. Very fair prices for Manhattan! Will be back!

Awesome arcades, a trip back to your childhood. The food is delicious. The mac n cheese is a bit too small, but it is delicious. The chilli fries are awesome and well served. Don't be scared if you can't find an empty table, some people grab a quick bite and get up to play, so you should be able to sit relatively fast. They could have more tables though.

Old school video, pinball and arcade games in a bar! Not quite an Adult Chucky Cheeses, but thof how cool it would have been to chug a few beers while playing Battlestar Galactica! The diverse and funky clientele make it a great place to people watch too!

What a great little bar. If you're into beer and/or video games you will love it here! It's basically a bar filled with retro arcade machines that were around when I was a kid like Daytona Racing, Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles, Alien, Double Dragon, Golden Axe, Star Wars, Donkey Kong and many more. Each go costs only 25 cents!!! So cheap! They have a couple of change machines there so you can swap your 1 dollar bills etc for quarters which is really helpful. Good luck getting on to the high scores board that hangs high on the wall here though. There's some really good scores on there!! Food and drinks are reasonably priced and there are side tables at each machine so you can put your drinks down whilst playing. My wife and I nipped in here one afternoon and ended up staying for a couple of hours before dragging ourselves away. We didn't need to wait or queue to play on anything but I would imagine evenings and weekends would be a lot busier. Located in Chelsea it's only 2-3 stops on the metro from Times Square so it's very easy to get to. A really great way to relax and have fun!

On our Virgin Atlantic flight over from the UK I watched the New York City guide and Barcade was featured. As a teenager with a misspent youth in the 80’s this looked right up my street. As I went to enter I could see all the games I remembered from way back when. Heaven, or so I thought! I was immediately asked for identification and refused entry as I had none (didn’t want to risk losing it while out and about). We were puzzled as I’m 47 (and bald with wrinkles!) and my other half is, ahem, older. Suppose it’s our fault for not carrying the “mandatory in New York” ID. It can’t be that mandatory as it’s the only place to ask us on our visit and I’m certainly no teetotal! Disappointed doesn’t cut it after I walked down 23 blocks from Times Square just to try out Barcade. I’ll now never know if it’s as good as the reviews say. DON’T FORGET YOUR ID even if you do look ancient! I’ve only given a poor rating as I’m baffled as to how anyone could possibly think we are anywhere closed to being under 21 but I suppose he was only doing his job.

Can’t tell you about the bar, drinks or service as couldn’t get past the doorman. Demanding ID despite the fact I’m clearly over the age of 21- I’m nearly 50!!! I’m from uk so had left my passport in hotel safe thinking I wouldn’t need it due to being allowed entry to far more up market bars than this!! Seemed dead in the bar for a Saturday late afternoon which should be a warning sign especially for a huge city like New York- other places were busy. Loss of custom and poor review because the doorman was being a jobsworth and power hungry knob.

It used to be the to go bar after work during pre covid with friends and coworkers. Sadly after tonight’s incident about proof of covid vaccination check at door has totally ruined the evening, we were so disappointed. Not because we didn’t provide a valid vaccination proof, it was because the establishment rejected the following: 1. The NYC Health certified NYC COVID Safe App with official immunization record and photo ID were not good enough to enter the bar. 2. IDNYC, ID card issued by New York City were not good enough to use as ID. I mean, seriously? This is not the first time we’re showing immunization record and photo ID through COVID Sade App or with IDNYC ID card. We never had issue entering all bars and restaurants that we’ve been to so far, why here at Barcade? Regardless of what the reasons were, we’re not going back to this bar again. In fact, there are many bars around the neighborhood like Oscar Wilde or Eataly rooftop bar that accept NYC COVID Safe App and IDNYC, ID card.
Beer, Food & Retro Games
Found Barcade somewhat by chance when searching for things to do when it rains in NYC - this was a great way to spend a few hours! Had a good sandwich and sampled a few of their excellent beers, and of course played on the games, which are very reasonably priced. The game selection is great and will cater for many tastes. Be sure to try the bartender game (quite a lot harder than it looks!!).
