Very good dinner, delicious dishes and presented with care, very kind and helpful staff Highly recommended!!!!

Nice to see Korean cuisine gaining traction outside of normal ktown fare. Looking forward to more fusion type establishments.

We ducked in a bit frazzled from shopping in K-Town, and were so grateful for this oasis of calm. We had the Korean Army Stew, a Spicy Pork Sizzling Rice Bowl and Cheese Corn. Everything was outstanding! Perfectly flavored, complex and satisfying on this drizzly June weekend.

Was excited to find this place and really wanted to like it. Went for Saturday lunch and had to wait a while to be acknowledge and for a table. Everything smells really good from the moment you walk in, and everything being served was visually appealing. We ordered the spicy pork and spicy seafood hotstone bowls. We were served fairly quickly and the service was good. The portions were generally small, and the bowl was filled primarily with rice with a little meat/seafood and few other ingredients. We liked the spicy pork, but not so much the spicy seafood which was mostly squid. We left wishing we had tried something else which we guessed would have enjoyed more.

Relaxed and friendly atmosphere, well prepared, tasty food in an area with otherwise very touristic venues, nice selection of wines Worth a visit!

I have never ate at a Korean restaurant so was looking forward to our dinner after reading positive reviews. Restaurant was very nice looking and even though busy we were seated straight away. Menu looked great and we ordered a few different things off the menu. The Korean fried chicken buns were amazing. We had two rice hot bowls which were lovely, interesting flavours. The cold noodle salad was a wee bit lacking in flavour but still tasty. Both drinks that we ordered( a cocktail and a beer) were not sold out but the replacement's were good. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and would eat here again.

I had a good lunch at Barn Joo 35, but it was not easy finding non-fried dishes on their lunch menu. The place is certainly in high demand - it is busy, very crowded and noisy. You get a 10% discount if you pay cash.

I don't have a lot of experience in Korean food, although I did visit Korea and was amazed by the tastiness of the food there. This restaurant just serves unsavory food in a cold unwelcoming service. When I asked for a description of one of the dishes, the waitress (owner?) described it as rice with a protein on top... I'm no food expert, but I think that any place that describes food as "protein" is not really about food. The dish itself was burned quinoa with rice (why not white rice?) with dry chicken. So many good places to eat in NY, don't waste your money here.

We stopped by to have a nice lunch and they didn't disappoint. I had the Galbi with nutty salad and my wife had the bulgogi tacos with a nutty salad. She had some specific requests, like guac on the side and so on which they did. I also had the soju flight which was excellent. Honestly this is one place we will come to anytime we go to NYC for dinner or lunch.

Amazing food. The dumplings were out of this world. Speedy efficient service and a great vibe. Highly recommended.

Off of Broadway on 35th, this casual restaurant w outdoor seating doesnt disappoint. The Spicy pork was delicious as was the sushi rolls. The 2 bulgoki buns for $15 was Nothing special and expensive. All in all, it was fast prompt and attentive service and really tasty. Would definitely look forward to returning but would not order the buns

My family and I went for dinner. First Korean experience. All of us loved our food. We ordered an array of dishes. Tofu appetizer, bulgogi, sushi app and truffle fries all stood out. Highly recommended

We came on a Wednesday night around 6 and by 7 it was packed with a wait. My girlfriend and I went and sat at a two seater. The table is small so if you order a lot of food you have to do a balancing act. Even the server wasn't sure where to put some stuff! We got the table bbq so that took up a bit of room. It's definitely more for one person than to share. We got the happy hour drinks and truffle fries. The fries are really good. You get small portions with the bbq. Small pieces of meat, one little stick of zucchini, some onion pieces, small piece of corn, mini rice balls, a mushroom piece and some pepper pieces. We also got the fried pork dumplings and they were delicious. For dessert we got the churros, which were fresh and warm and delicious. We enjoyed talking and taking our time cooking our own food though. Overall the food is delicious and we came here because we loved the food from Union Square and had to come back.

We sat at the bar and chose five items from the tapas menu. The bartender was terrific. He helped us to select two of the items from the menu including the buns which included a fish option instead of just the usual beef and chicken. They were sensational. The spicy fried tofu was also to die for. The bar does not offer non-alcoholic beers but they do have some fabulous non-alcoholic made in house sodas which they can alter to taste. The hibiscus lemonade was lovely. My friend ordered from the cocktail menu and enjoyed the cocktail very much. He liked the restaurant so well that he pronounced it his new go-to for dinner on the way home from the office. It has a lovely atmosphere. Busy but not too noisy. You can have a conversation without having to shout or worry about being overheard, which is pretty much ideal. Service was prompt but not rushed. And the bartender and servers were attentive and genial.

Nice service, delicious food, fancy drinks. We decided to try the bowls and were absolutely satisfied. Reservation recommended

We had dinner at Barn Joo 35 and found the fare and service good. There were options for vegetarians and meat-eaters alike.

service was excellent quality of food 5 star the place was full worth a visit if you like Korean food

We had a wonderful lunch here. The service was efficient and friendly. Loved the ginger limeade. My shrimp tempura roll was beautifully presented and a generous size. The only thing that I would have liked would be a little more space between the tables, but we are in New York City! Otherwise, a delightful experience 🙂

My mom and I shared a lunch. The bibimbap and tofu appetizer were good but the fried asparagus was worth going back for. Nice service and cute halloween decorations.

We asked the weitress to advise us from the menu list and it was worthy! Everything looked and tasted delicious :) We had

We went there through a recommendation of our family member and it came out to match our expectations in all sense.

Seating was available immediately and the service was fast and friendly. We found it as other popular places on 35th had a 2 hour wait. The fusion nature waters down the Korean dishes but it served the purpose for us in wanting to eat Korean food for dinner.

Every dish was uniquely flavored. No matter what you eat, it just melts in your mouth. The stone bowls are very famous and can be sold out from time to time. It is good to make reservations as even on a working day the waiting time is a lot.

Excellent Korean fare! We can for dinner and tried an assortment of items. The beef bulgogi was delicious. We also tried the wings which were nicely spiced and very large. The pork dumplings were hot and the duck taco was delicious. Highly recommend everything we ate!

Came here with friends for dinner and drinks. The food was really great! Drinks were also really good. Love the ambiance of this place!

As soon as we arrived we knew it was going to be good. The food on everyone's table looked incredible. We got some yummy appetizers and then I ordered the bibimbap. It was very good and was surpassed only by the Farmers Platter ... Omg short rib lettuce wraps with rice veggies and kimchi. It was superb

Delicious food, cozy atmosphere and great service. I had their beef stone bowl platter. Great variety, everything hot and flavorful. Excellent restaurant.

This place has the perfect recipe for customer service and food. Staff fantastic, always on hand and attentive to everyone’s need. The music great, not blaring so you can here your partner speak, however enough to muffle over diners conversation. Food is tasty and seasoned deliciously. Great place 👌

Fab little restaurant, great cocktail menu with a range of really good Korean tapas. Went on a Friday and it got busy very early. Prices v reasonable and service good.

I had a late lunch here last week. It was quite empty when I arrived at 4 30pm but filled up fast. By 530pm the place was packed!! The interior is clean, modern and had a great vibe!Even though its a really casual restaurant, the food and service was excellent. This is a great spot for groups! I tried the truffle fries, fried calamari, shrimp tempura roll and spicy noodles. I really enjoyed the fries and the noodles! Solid lunch spot if you are in the area!

We visited this restaurant 3 x during our 1 week stay in NYC. Everything starting from tapas to dessert was delicious.

Came here for dinner, and after not having many great experiences with bibimbap in the past, I decided to try out the Ebi bibimbap served with cold rice, and it was AMAZING. The amount of ingredients they put in was amazing, and the taste was so rich as a result. The portions were also just right for me, and I thoroughly enjoyed my dinner.

Yum! What a gem of a find. This is a small venue, but really hopping. The food was super fresh, delicious and delightful. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed everything from beer selections, to entrées,to desserts. If you are in the area, please give it a try! You won’t be sorry.

Very delicious and well prepared. We had the vegetable dumplings and tofu hot stone pot. Both were excellent.

Great value for money with delicious food. The staff were friendly and helpful and the service was quick. All of our dishes were very tasty and I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you are staying nearby. If you are thinking of ordering the BBQ I would recommend you to share it and order a range of dishes. Only criticism is that the restaurant was very noisy due to there being lots of people in the restaurant. None the less , worth a visit.

The service was great! However, the truffle fries were just ok. The seafood noodle dish has a kick to it and i was not a fan. My husband tried the hot pot with chicken and rice, and said it was just ok.

We were a party of 4 adults on a vacay. We had Barn Joo on our list of places to eat. It was very crowded and loud, but there is a reason. The food and service are fantastic. We actually went there a second night during our five night stay! The food is excellent and the drinks are delicious. Try the Strawberry Sorbet Mule (you won't regret it). We all had different dishes and each one was as good as the other. Andrew was our waiter and was so professional and courteous. He gave us great food recommendations as well as drinks. When we went for our second meal a few nights later Andrew even remembered us out of all the many customers they have. If I ever get back to New York I will be returning to this great restaurant.

Very tasty and good service. The cocktail bee line is really sublime and very tasty! The hot stone bowl with spicy seafood taken. It had a lot of seafood in it.

Everything was super, nice atmosphere, superb food, friendly staff and good price. Best dumplings we ever had - try the fried pork dumplings, you won’t regret it. If you pay in cash you receive 10% discount.

Great place to enjoy with friends. It's Asian fare with a twist is very good. The only thing I would improve is their cocktails. Weird mixes that do not always go well. Service is not consistent oscillating from great to grumpy other times.

We came here because of the good reviews but overall we felt it was lacking. Tables were tiny and to start with we were stuck against a wall so asked to move and no room to move arm to eat. Food was nice but not delicious. Service was a bit unfriendly. Overall felt a bit disappointed. Then there was an issue as had booked through open table, we were late (due to getting lost) but had rung and left a message. We apologised when we arrived and gave our names but were then contacted saying we'd not turned up which was obviously incorrect.

The food here is firmly grounded in traditional Korean cuisine, but this isn't the place to get your standard Bibimbap. We had an Uni special that exploded with umami flavors -- a mix of delicious grilled uni, seaweed and egg fried crispy rice and dollops of cool tobiko of different types. The cocktails are a bit sweet, which is typical, but they also have a good selection of sake.

The food was delicious and was welcomed after a long day of travelling. Service was quick and still personal. All staff were attentive and food tasted authentic and fresh. Hot stone bowl with tofu and mushroom for me and bulgogi for my friend and we shared truffle fries (but they weren’t necessary, although delicious).

A cold welcome from the hostess, not a smile. We had reservations and she didn't even offer to spin the wheel. Then she didn't even confirm our reservation on the reservation platform. Fortunately the service was quick. Dishes not too bad but the meat is too fatty. Otherwise the cocktails are good and the decor is modern. Clean restaurant. The hostess was not up to the task.

The food was delicious and the service excellent. Although quite packed the food was served quite quickly.

Well it was a Monday night and my main or entree arrived before my appetizer. I sent it back and asked for it freshly made once I had eaten the appetizer. I was berated by the maitrad who begrudgingly agreed. The photo is the over cooked burnt result. My advise is to list all food in one list if u are going to serve in parallel many Asian places do this. I left bitter and let down I will report to the health division if I’m ill tomorrow. So much promise just not good service. Ps as a gastro piv they only have 2 or three on tap beers.

A colleague and I came here on a Monday at about 6:30pm for dinner. Most tables were already occupied, but we were greeted and seated promptly. The tables are very close together, so don't plan on private conversation. We were given water for the table quickly and then another server took our drink orders. And then another server came to take our drink order, and we replied it had been taken. And then another server came to take our drink order - that's right, a third server. At that point, it was a bit of a surprise that our drinks did come not long after and were correct. We both ordered hot stone bowls - my colleague had bulgogi and I had tofu and mushroom. He enjoyed his; mine was good, but I definitely would have liked more vegetables. During dinner, we had a similar service experience on a second round of drinks. :) I'd much prefer this to neglect, and I know they are trying to keep service moving (and tables turning), but it was a little unsettling to receive the same questions so many times.

Had dinner there last night and couldn't have asked for a better place! This Asian Fusion Korean restaurant is simply AMAZING! The place is pretty small, and you eat elbow to elbow with other patrons, but it doesn't matter as it makes it even more charming. We had multiple servers who took great care of us. Service was extremely fast and super friendly. The food was outstanding with so many different options. We opted to share a few tapas style items including fried pork dumplings, Tiger Roll, and fried chicken buns. All really good, but our favorite had to be the Roll which was so fresh and flavorful! This place is freaking awesome with such a great laid back atmosphere. The service was superb, and the food excellent. Two thumbs way up to Barn Joo 35!

Second visit was as good as the first. Hubby and I stopped in for lunch while in Manhattan. We had to show proof of COVID-19 vaccination and photo ID to dine indoors, which is the case at all area dining establishments. Staff were all wearing masks and outdoor tented dining was available. We ordered Hot Stone Bowls with Bulgogi, which came with soup and Gochujang. I’m typically not a miso soup fan, but this soup was flavorful and not at all chalky. The bowl was steaming hot and the hot stone kept the rice and meat dish hot throughout the course of lunch. I asked for extra Gochujang and received it without delay. The tangy sauce is a must have with bibimbap. The meal was tasty and comforting, right down to the crispy rice at the bottom of the bowl. So glad we had a chance to visit again and look forward to visiting the next time we’re in NYC.

I was wanting to like this place so much but was disappointed. Walked and the vibe was great. Lots of people, food looked and smelled delicious, and the staff was so friendly. Little wait, to be expected on a weekend, and were seated. I was hoping to get some great spice but the 3 items we ordered were bland even with the chili sauce on the side. Sorry, won't be back.

Went with my family visiting NYC excited to try this restaurant. Unfortunately this restaurant doesn't give you side dishes such as kimchi (each small serving $3) or even rice (each serving bowl $2). Also main dish portions are individual and not for family style sharing even when ordering Korean BBQ or Kalbi. This place might be 'ok' for business dining with non Koreans.

If you're expecting texas-style bbq, you need to expand your thinking about what makes barbeque - We found Barn Joo 35 to be delightful, despite being very noisy (which seems to be an annoying trend in restaurants). The portions were just right, and the prices (especially for NYC) were reasonable. All 6 of us enjoyed our meals and beverages and the setting. We were served quickly even though the place was hopping!

Everything we ordered was absolutely amazing - bulkogi, fried mandu, japchae, kimchi, calamari…. We shared all the dishes so that everybody could try everything while sipping soju. The most surprising was the banana bread pudding - absolute triumph! The setting and atmosphere are modern yet very cosy and cute. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. If we lived locally this place would be a major favourite!

Drinks only at the bar (coming for dinner tomorrow!). wonderful service, great best and cocktails. Polished off with a free spirit. Great couple of hours drinking and chilling.

We went since Barn Joo discribes itself as a Korean Gastro Pub, and we were not disappointed. We had several unique and inventive dishes, all tasted great. Our server helped guide us to what we wanted, with both cocktails and the food. We wanted something different and got it. Worth another trip.

Walked in without planning, and what a great surprise. Nice decor and atmosphere, lovely friendly fast service. Seated upstairs. Great for sharing, family style. Looooovd uni bibimbap! Super light and healthy, colorful & tasty! Its good size too! Could totally just order that for two of us and be full. But also tried pork dumplings (not impressed), and shared a seafood kalgookso hot pot, which was ok (nice presentation). Cocktails were decent - the glow in tue dark rasberry mojito (didnt tsste like mojito at all but fun) andsmth else strawberry in champaign glass, was pretty nice too. Absolutely loved to server, who was very attentive and explained how to properly eat traditional foods (without judging us korean food virgins). prices arent bad for new york. Great place! Recommmend!

Best Bibimbab ever! We went several times to Korean restaurants but this was best ever. Delicious food, great service and fancy drinks. Highly recommended.

First time having Korean food, was lovely. We tried out the bbq which was very good. i was super impressed with how clean the bbq was. The only downside was that being the first time having a Korean bbq we did not know what sides to order, and the waiter was not helpful. But nonetheless would highly recommend.

My go to spot when I’m in NYC. Crispy wings are sensational. Bulgogi is awesome! Usually sit at the bar for happy hour so I don’t have to wait. Frank provided great service when I was there. Can’t miss with the truffle fries either! Cheers!

Managed to get a table at 5pm during a weekday, without a reservation. The place was crowded, but had a lively and nice atmosphere. Nice staffing, delicious food! Can higly recommend this place if you’re up for dinner or just a quick bite. The plates were a bit too small for a hungry tourist that had been walking all over Manhattan..that’s the only drawback.

Absolute Waste of time, accepted our booking for 8.30 PM online, we walked 10 minutes to get there to be told that the kitchen was closed despite people sitting and eating and the website saying they close at 11, I wouldn’t bother

My husband and I went to dinner recently to celebrate his birthday. We were seated quickly and as we made a reservation, spun the wheel and got a free beer! The servers were friendly and efficient! The items ordered (wings, buns, dumplings) were tasty! We had a great time!

We stopped by Barn Joo for lunch and we were delighted by the decor. Semi-contemporary semi-barnish. The menu looked awesome. We tried the flight of mixed drinks which came in with a light at the bottom of the glasses and were DELICIOUS! The food was well curated with amazing presentation. The taste was outstanding and price was right. A must for Korean food lovers. A great modern version of Korean food and oh so good.

Nice Asian fusion mainly Korean restaurant bar. Young and vibrant atmosphere. Small and loud space. Warmly decorated.

We were a party of 4 on a midweek evening for dinner. Barnjoo 35 (midtown) wont allow bookings for less than 8 people but we decided to wing it and we are so glad we did. There was a 15 - 20 minute wait (don't be fooled by lots of people apparently queuing outside, they do takeout) so we went to the Irish bar opposite (which was also good). Barnjoo 35 has an upstairs so its a decent size but does get busy. The food is outstanding. We were recommended 2 - 3 tapas portions per person. We had 8 plus a larger dish which would be good for 2 people so probably 10 tapas for us all and that was fine. Great location to eat and then do a late night Empire State Building visit as we did. Definitely one to try.

I ordered some very good steamed pork dumplings. A hot dish based on mushroom rice and tofu, delicious. Excellent care.

Our family of 4 had dinner at this restaurant with modern Korean vibe. The food dishes are small but great for sharing. They also have those cocktails at very reasonable prices.

We visited on a Saturday night - this restaurant was loud! We could barely hear each other sitting next to each other. The food and service were both good - the prices were high for "tapas." We love Korean food and these prices were on the high end. Also note, the Ikea-style metal stackable chairs were not comfortable for a relaxed meal - this is an edge of your seat type place.

Very good food and lots of options including vegetarian and pescetarian. Close to Times Square so definitely walk, but there was some street parking as well. Definitely make a reservation ahead of time. It's a small space inside but cozy, good food, and good service. Pretty crowded for sure and a bit pricey, but portions are large and I would say it's worth the price.

Excellent romantic evening, The food is good. Delicious hot spot! The service is efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is great! We recommend

Lively with good and attentive service. Excellent tapas, f.i softshell crab, wings with soy and garlic etc. Sapporo beer.

Was worried about getting a table on a Sat night as they don't accept reservations for less than 8...but we were keen to go based on reviews. We we're in luck - no wait for a table at all, and the food lived up to expectations. We took on a selection of the tapas dishes - all were really fresh, bright and tasty. Service was great too, definitely worth a visit if in the area.

Great drink specials for happy hour. Delicious food. Nice atmosphere- a bit loud. Attentive wait staff. Definitely would go back!

Busy restaurant right across from our hotel. Delicious seafood ramen only $25 and it feeds 2! We highly recommend. best food we had over our weekend in NYC

Had such an amazing dinner here. Beautiful interior and decor, with seating upstairs too. We had a vegetable dish to start, and then one spicy seafood noodle dish and one rice dish, both extremely tasty with plenty of fish. Ordered a bottle of saki to go with. Neither of us had tried Korean before and this certainly did not disappoint. Staff are extremely friendly too, and it was nice and busy inside. Would definitely recommend!

Very busy little place with an upstairs. Can be quite noisy because the space is tight and there are many people. But the food is great. My husband and I shared the steamed dumplings, chili shrimp, and the veggie pancake. I recommend all 3. My son had the hotstone chicken bowl and my daughter had the hotstone bulgogi bowl. Both enjoyed it and they were good size portions. I also enjoyed a rasberry mojito. I recommend Barn Joo.

I went to Barn Joo 35 last night with one of my close friends and it was amazing! They have a happy hour which ended around 7pm so we had some time to get a few items from the menu. We also ordered other Tapas and I must say everything was amazing. We had the Fried Asparagus, Chili Skewer Shrimps, Pork Dumplings, and Pork Belly Nachos. We finished everything on our plates! The only reason why I am giving 4 stars and not 5 is due to the fact that I felt the service could have been a bit faster and more attentive otherwise its a must try!

I was expecting to walk into a typical Korean family owned place and wound up entering the Oz of Korean restaurants. Pleasant upscale hip decor. The lunch menu is a bit limited but the food was excellent. I had the bbque combo and loved my meal.

Great, trendy place to have a healthy dinner when you are in New York. We tried 2 different dishes and both were delicious!

When traveling on business and staying in midtown I find it a challenge to find good food. So, I was over the moon when I stumbled across Barn Joo. The atmosphere is loud, but that suited me down to the ground, as I was solo. I got a tall table at the back where I could sit incognito. I ordered Sake, pork dumplings (steamed) and NY bites with rice. The NY bites beef was amazing, the dumplings where great and the miso soup that comes with the rice was excellent too. I can't recommend this place enough, make the effort and get there.

Lots of flavour, great fusion dishes. Something for everyone. We had a great server and the food and drinks hit the spot after a late flight during the heatwave.

My sister and I came to NYC to visit her son and his husband. They brought us here with neither of us at familiar with Korean food. Man it was GOOD! I had the roasted vegetables and a side of brown rice. Everyone else’s was different but delish! I’ll be back!!!

In town for some sightseeing and found this a few blocks over from our hotel. Sounded good and we were not disappointed. Prices were reasonable, service was good, atmosphere a bit on the contemporary side, and food was delicious. Well worth a visit.

Great food with quick service. Very attentive to everything we needed. It is a younger crowd and quite loud. I would go back just to try other tapas options.

Never had Korean before, so just randomly picked this place off the map. I’m glad we did! It was really good. I had the spicy seafood bowl. Everyone in my group enjoyed their food as well.

Dropped in on a whim, and Barn Joo 35 didn’t disappoint. Had seafood pancake (it was a bit dull), hot bowl bulgogi (excellent!) uni bulgogi (very good) and NY Bites (TO DIE FOR!!) Seasonal beer and Sapporo on tap was great as well

Nice place and great food. I tried chilly prawns and fried squid. Very friendly stuff. Offered onions free options as I have allergy for this.

Right next to ESB, one of the many Korean restaurants in the neighborhood. Nice welcome, tasty dishes and reasonable rates for New York provided, as in many other restaurants, do not consume alcohol. An aperitif or a glass of wine will cost you about twenty dollars including taxes and service. Portions a little less hearty than in other establishments but leaves a good impression.

Very close to Hilton Garden Inn on 35th street. Good service, good food, and small portions. Great atmosphere.

This Korean gastropub is located in midtown Manhattan (Koreatown), on 35th Street near 6th Avenue. They serve some great fresh oysters and other pub fare and some nice drinks. The place is a bit dark, but in all, a nice atmosphere. I liked it very much!

Three of us went for dinner on a Thursday evening. No wait before 7 p.m. It was busy but there were tables. Service was quick. Waitress advised as to what the place is known for as we had not had Korean before. We tried four things and had a beer. All were very good. Costs were reasonable. Lots to choose from on the menu.

Galbi bowl was amazing and so was the bread pudding dessert! Would definitely come back! Also, if you make a reservation in advance you get to spin the wheel for a free goodie!

The merchant altered my bill, unjustly adding over $20 (seemingly to achieve a 25% tip AFTER Tax See Receipt). Then, they proactively and arrogantly contacted me to lie. Despite presenting the original receipt, they insist no overcharge was made on my amount. Shockingly, they manipulated the service charge I left on the receipt, inputting an arbitrary amount they wanted into their system. Their approach was baffling, reaching out only to offer lies, even when confronted with the ORIGINAL receipt I kept and provided. This left me no choice but to seek assistance from my bank. Very few staff members. The male at the front desk was very rude. We arrived a few minutes early, and many places were available; he mentioned that we would need to wait for just the right time for our reservation. However, after a while, another female staff member took us straight in. Management was very disorganized. You could barely call for a staff for the entire dining experience. The food was very greasy, and the soup tasted very powdery. All these are acceptable, but the bill modification disappointed me, and I left this review.

LOVE the food there! OMG!! Best fried pork dumplings and miso soup ive ever had! Also ordered the NY bites (delish) and the bbq (wagyu). My bf and I only went there for the korean bbq but unfortunately it wasn't that great.. we expected more (our fault!!). The rice is great too, I even ordered it twice lol. For dessert, the churros with ice cream, which was also great. The drinks were amazing too, we had the aloe and the midtown (midtown was better tho!). The only downside was the waitress that took forever to check on us, come by to get orders, etc. Prices are ok for NYC. But the dumplings... I swear, get the fried dumplings!

Service was fine but food was poor with minimal flavour. Atmosphere was spoiled by rave music over the speakers. Sorry, but we would not return.

I've been to one of the other locations and sat at the bar and had great service. We sat at table at 5pm when it was not busy and were constantly being rushed to order drinks and food and not just by one person but 2 or 3. Then they tried to take the drinks which weren't finished and the food when we were still eating. I've worked in many restaurants and I don't like leaving bad reviews, but they would not let you relax! Drinks were good and so was he food so its a shame, but too many other places that will let you enjoy your drinks and food.

This was a real find. stylish, modern and busy with a great atmosphere. We arrived around 7.15 and the restaurant was already very busy. The welcome was warm and we were pretty lucky to get a table, We had fried asparagus, chilli shrimp tempura, soft shell crab, spicy chicken and of course a customary beer,Sapporo on this occasion. We left the restaurant, nothing was disappointing, all good. The service was quick, efficient and friendly. This was a great find and value for money was bang on, mid range, The overall experience was 100% positive. If I reach New York again, I will be heading back to Barn Joo. I doff my hat to Barn Joo.

Very nice Korean food crowded with young (and sometimes too loud) customers. You can take your food away too. They served us a chicken instead of half (as ordered) and kindly refunded the money though left us the spare half chicken! So nice staff, tasty food and reasonable price.

I was there for lunch this week. The food was very tasty and good. The staff was very courteous and helpful. My problem was the profanity by the restaurant. First, I heard the staff cussing about something, not sure what. Well, ok it happens. Meanwhile there had been rap music playing over the loud system, normal for younger people but then I heard the F WORD in the music. I realize the staff thought nothing of it. Just knew that I could not return. Too bad good restaurant.

The food was delicious and the staff were great too. Excellent choice as a couple or with friends. Prices are affordable too!

Thursday night packed, but we had a reservation for a birthday celebration. It ended up being a great meet-up place for all parties in our group, not too hard to find, even in the rain at 7:00 pm. Kudos to the staff attending to the BD member with complimentary appetizers, drink and dessert. The "bowls" were popular with our group and though some may say on the small-size, they were spot on for us. One member got a seafood stew served in a large cauldron-type bowl with a flame under it keeping it boiling hot! Upstairs seating awesome. Added benefit, pay cash and get a 10 percent discount...ATM is downstairs near the restrooms.

We chose this place on a whim on our first night in New York and were not disappointed. We had the tacos and some other small dishes to share, and all were really good. Great mixed coctails also. The place was pretty packed, but we got a table right away. Friendly staff.

This place has ruined my idea of trying a new Korean spot every night we are here. I only want to come back every night to eat the outstanding dishes here. They maker not want to share the dishes with my husband even. The wait wasn’t too bad for 7pm on a Saturday night. We were seated upstairs, it’s loud and noisy both downstairs and upstairs but filled with lots of energy. Started off with crunchy tofu, veggie japchae, nutty green salad and a ginger limeade. We both walked all over and walked back and forth on the Brooklyn bridge so we came with an empty belly and parched too. The limeade ginger was so refreshing and nicely quenched my thirst. The crunchy tofu was nicely crispy and soft on the inside, lots of flavors, the fried kimchi garnish was a good balance to the crunchy tofu. The veggie japchae was delicious, nice peppery kick and lots of great veggies. The nutty salad was topped with sweet crunchy almonds and the dressing gave it great depth and flavor pops.

I have been to this restaurant three times, and the food is amazing. I have had the Galbi beef and chicken buns, fried pork dumplings, tuna mayo, and my all time favorite - the HWE sashimi bibimbop. Everything is delicious!! The prices are reasonable, too, for a NYC restaurant. The tables are close together--a little on the loud side--and the restaurant is on the smaller side, but it's a fun place to eat. Service is good, too.

A very nice experience with Korean themed tapas! Especially the bao (buns) are worth a visit. The Tempura roll was also extraordinary!

Had a dinner for four before walking up to broadway for a show. For an appetizer, we had the short rib buns, which were fantastic. I had the chicken soy-truffle main, which was very good. We had a beef sizzling bowl which was only ok - it needed a bit more zip of flavor. My wife had the rib eye which was good but could also use some more zip and my friends wife had the seafood ramen, which was very good. Very friendly and swift service, cute place, definitely recommended.

Sat at the bar, the bar menu is much smaller than the regular menu but we were just going to apps anyway so it didn't matter. The wings were good as well as the service. I'd go back for sure.

We were staying nearby and found this place on Google. We gave it a try as it was highly rated on Google and Yelp, and the reviews were justified! We liked the fact you could order lots of small plates, allowing you to try a few different things. We would definitely recommend to others

If you're into Korean food this place is a must for happy hour 4-6. The wings are spectacular...crazy crunchy (soy garlic and hot) Great drink menu as well. Indoor and outdoor seating. Was glad to see they made it through last year.

I wrote a review already but I wanted to add that the place is dirty inside around the coffee especially the front of the garbage can where you put your stir straws they can keep the place a lot cleaner

Barn Joo is a decent spot. The food is good, the venue is great, but the price per portion is a bit on the higher end as compared to other Korean restaurants in the area. Still there's good variety and lots of choices on the menu to share.

Had a fun lunch here with an old friend. Good and atmosphere were both great. Not rushed, we were free to talk and finish with a leisurely pot of tea.

The location - very convenient in midtown area, about a 10 min walk from Times Sq. The setting - casual , comfortable. Some of the tables are very close to each other - but I know this is NYC. The food - excellent . I had the sashimi salad - all the bits of fish were tasty, but I actually liked all the fresh veggies and the light dressing more. The beef bugolg hot stone bowl was great - maybe not enough rice in the bowl - but that was probably a good thing. The service - superb . Excellent , efficient , super friendly - loved it. There are only two extremely minor criticisms I have . First of all , the server brought the beef bugolgi before the salad. I was hoping to start off light and tried the salad first. Secondly , the atmosphere of the place and the food items in the menu made me feel like the restaurant is catering to non-Korean customers ... some of the dishes don't seem genuinely Korean to me. But then again , I am no connoisseur of Korean cuisine... I would not hesitate to come back to this restaurant.

We happened upon this restaurant purely as it was close to our hotel for our first night but it turned out to be the best food we had in New York. Every single tapas style dish was just so tasty. The truffle fries were incredible and the fried Gyoza the best I’ve ever eaten. The service was quick and efficient and the atmosphere buzzing. If I had to criticise something it’s that it was all over too fast, but I could heartily recommend to anyone looking for a tasty tapas style Asian treat.

We went to this restaurant based on recommendations from friends and the food was phenomenal! We ordered some tapas and one main course each. We had red on TripAdvisor that the portions were rather small, so we thought that we could manage to eat everything, but we failed! What we liked the most were the chicken wings and calamaris as tapas and the spicy pork as main course. The only negative thing was it was so loud that we had to scream to each other (we sat on the second floor). We had no idea that Korean food was so delicious!

This place is packed on Saturday night. The food is delicious. Service is great. There are all tapas style food that you can share. Their beef bun was delicious. I was not a big fan of their tacos, but loved their beef noodle dish.

We came here for a pre-show dinner and ordered apps and happy hour drinks. The food was incredible, the bartender very sweet, and we enjoyed ourselves quite a bit. Go here!

Really cute spot...decorated like steam punk pirate ship...just my opinion. We saw ratings on trip advisor and it was close so we stopped in. The food was amazing. There is an option at the bottom left to make it a combo w a salad and soup and fried shrimp and a fried potato thing...and it was way too much food for me, but my husband ate every bite. It was so yummy. It won our favorite meal and we hadn’t even planned for it or made reservations.

Called for reservations as YELP wasn't working ... reservation system was down when we phoned, but the staff was very pleasant and encouraged us to just show up. Lots of seating on multiple levels. Food was excellent -- Bulgogi, fried pork dumpling, corn-and-cheese tapas -- and affordable. Everyone employed there seemed happy to be working there -- pleasant and attentive.

This was one of my picks for our visit to NYC. We had Bulgogi, Kimchi, fried pork dumplings and fried chicken bites with an Asian BBQ sauce. The bulgogi had a great smoky flavor and there was plenty of it. The kimchi, had a little bit of a sour taste, I would have preferred a little more spicy kick. The pork dumplings were pretty good. The chicken bites, which was just an appetizer, was huge and the BBQ sauce was excellent. If you are looking for a way to add a little different taste to your weekend I would definitely visit Barn Joo 35.

This used to be an inexpensive authentic Korean restaurant. Maybe Covid caused owners to dumb it down and serve rather tasteless food. No kimchi on the menu but if you ask you can get it. They served tea from a Lipton tea bag! Aargh! Five years ago tea would be served in a lovely heavy metal teapot. Sadly, I wouldn’t go back.

Amazing food on second visit. The tofu and the dumplings were out of this world. Speedy efficient service and a great vibe. Highly recommended.

Fed up with American sized portions we came across this Korean Gastropub while staying nearby. It was fantastic. The first time we visited it was empty but filled up, the second time ,even though we arrived about the same time it was pretty full. The tapas we had the first time satisfied us. The second time we had the hot stone pot ,shared, and then a dessert. As it was Happy Hour we had drinks as well. Certainly to be recommended. The staff were helpful and the customers were obviously regulars.

Very nice place, an amazing jalapeno margherita, the ramen sea food was excelent and pork dumpling you can’t leave without trying it

Very nice place, busy, but worth the wait. Lots of options on the menu to share. Food is fresh and tasty. A must !

VENUE This restaurant is really nicely decorated inside and has a great atmosphere. It feels like a cool, youthful and relaxed place to eat. FOOD We opted for the classic Korean BBQ experience, i.e. the cook it yourself set-up. We were given a reasonable (it didn't seem much upon presentation but we left feeling full) portion of what tasted like high-quality beef, alongside some vegetables, and a delicious Korean marinade. Our side/starter of sea molluscs was uniquely tasty, like a cross between escargot and pork belly. All of the food was delicious, as were the nicely presented cocktails. SERVICE The staff were friendly, and the prices were appropriate given the quality of dining experience and NYC location. Overall, we'd definitely return in future.

High quality food, highly recommended! Had the buns with fish, Korean tacos with bulgogi and the hot and spicy chicken wings. Rest of my party picked pretty much everything else of the menu. Thumbs up from all 7 of us!

An employee from Dylan's Candy store informed us that this place had THE BEST WINGS IN THE WORLD!!! Well, he had to check them out...we were not disappointed!!! Beautiful restaurant, delicious wings, great service ..what a fabulous find!!

Food was excellent! We had the bulgoggi bowl, truffle fries and one of their special rolls. Sizzling hot! Awesome flavor! Yummy! Filling! Cool atmosphere! The service was good.

Brilliant Korean food, great atmosphere. Shared the pork belly, seafood ramen and chili prawns. All incredibly delicious.

Delicious, delicious. Had the spicy tofu balls, the salad, the sashimi soba noodles and everything was great. Perfect for lunch and dinner and they have a happy hour too!

My cell phone told me to give this place a try, and we're glad we did. Had to wait for a few minutes for a table, but our meals were outstanding. The flavors are very unique and delicious. Definitely worth the stop.

This restaurant does tapas plates, as well as regular entree sized meals. The tapas plates are a great way to sample a range of different dishes. There are also several different hotpots, and regular appertizers.

This was our first experience with a Korean restaurant and we were very pleased. The Bulgogi was absolutely delicious. We also had the spicy pork tacos and that was very good as well. The service was outstanding.

Great find - amazing food, delicious cocktails and brilliant service. We found this near our hotel and went twice! The crispy chicken bao buns and the bowls were incredible!

Walked past Barn Joo a few times while on vacation, the place was always busy and the menu looked good so thought I would try for lunch. It was great, food was extremely tasty and staff were friendly. I thought the prices were very reasonable for mid town Manhattan. I was hoping to return but didn't get time. 100 yards from north west corner 34th/Herald Sq Subway station.

We stumbled across this place by chance as it was across the road from our hotel. Every night prior to us going we noticed big crowds waiting for tables, when we looked into online we noticed all the great reviews and chanced our luck the next day on a table! The food was fantastic and so was the cocktails and service! Defo worth a visit!

I needed a quick meal.. This sure hit the spot. Fresh superb food really great presentation and efficiency.. Highly recommended

We had the chicken popcorn, fried pork dumpling and bulgogi. All were quite tasty. We tried the soju tasting flight also. One tasted like koolaid . Cucumbet and elderberry were are favorite. Definitely worth a visit. Good service. A little loud for conversation. Got seated very quickly. Food cmne out very fast too.

Great and efficient service, we arrived early at 12, so no problem in getting a table but at 12:30 it was jam packed with the lunch crowd. We ordered to share between 2: upgraded spicy pork in sizzling stone set, chili shrimp and tuna tartare. Everything was delicious! Menu is a good mix of everything. I would totally recommend it and return! Less than 25$ each without alcohol or dessert.

We were staying in Midtown near Koreatown and decided to try it out. The food was fantastic. The service was efficient and consistent. Koreans represented a large portion of diners, which is a good sign. So why the below average rating? NOISE LEVEL! It a busy, popular place which appeared to be catering to the lingering post-happy hour crowd. It would be expected to be noisier than average. But, like so many places today, the ubiquitous thump thump thump of too-loud house music and hip hop booming from overhead speakers eliminated any chance of having a conversation without literally shouting.

Three of us ate here before going to a show. We arrived around 5:30, and there were already diners, but it wasn't crowded. We sat at the front table facing the street. They warned us it would be cold, but it was OK. By the time we left, the place was full. Very popular, especially with young people. Service was friendly, fast, and efficient. We had the fried asparagus, crispy chicken buns, roasted vegetables, Japchae with beef, and the crunchy tofu appetizer. Everything was delicious, but our favorites were the asparagus and the buns. We walked from the restaurant to our show on 45th and 8th Ave. Highly recommend!!!

The other reviews had me very excited to try this restaurant, but unfortunately it very much disappointed. The frustration started when they wouldn’t take my order by phone, and almost lost the business as I don’t order through apps online. They later claimed they only took the order because they were not busy. The food was OK, some dishes have flavor and spice, but others had little to none per other reviews. Maybe this is because I had take out, and all the little sauce containers were not labeled so don’t know which sauce went to which dish. I was very much disappointed in the quality of the meat of the spicy charred chicken, it was low quality cheap dark meat with fat and gristle, I spit a good deal of it out. The salad had an attractive name ‘nutty’ but nothing special, the bulgogi was OK... ... in the end would not return.

We came here on Friday night , the place was totally packed and there was a long waiting list . I craved for some real Korean bbq and by the hype over this place I felt like this is what I’m going to get but it was far from that . I was eating by my self so I ordered a small pork belly dish with an addition of veggies , the meat was super dry - the powder and the seasoning really ruined the meat - it didn’t combine well . This meat should be rich with flavor and fat but it was just dry and tired . I asked for peanut butter sauce like you usually get in Korean restaurants to try and improve the flavor - but they didn’t have it . They only had srirache (?!)whats the connection to it I dont know ... anyway i didn’t enjoy my food at all and 90% of the dish left on the table I didn’t even want to take it away. One good thing I can say though - the service was great and fast - and if you pay with cash - you get a 10% discount .

I wasn’t impressed with this place. The good: friendly wait staff, helpful in navigating the menu, although we did find ourselves without water at some point. The food was just meh though, and the portions were small. The hot bowl was tiny, and overall the least tasty hot bowl I’ve ever had. The glass noodle dish was ok, but it lacked flavor. For a dish of this type it was also a very small portion. The chili shrimp was a bit soggy, and the flavor was off. I did like the crispy race cake on skewers. It’s chewy with a nice crisp. Not everyone likes that texture but I do. I didn’t care for the sausage on the skewer, I thought it would be more interesting, but it tasted like a regular mini hot dog. The tuna tartare dish (I forgot the exact name on the menu) was the best one. It tasted fresh and went well with the crackers. Even that I’ve had much better elsewhere. No dish here was horrible, but nothing said wow, I must have this again. I really wanted to love this place, but with so many great options in the area, it just doesn’t measure up.

We showed up late and hungry with no reservation. Staff were great and found us a table. The Fried Tiger Roll was exceptional, and the Bibimbap was the best we ever eaten. Truly a memorable evening!

We loved this place. Great food and service. Fun decor too. We had selection of tapas and each was amazingly good. Crunchy tofu and roasted vegetables were two favorites. Will definitely go back next time In NYC!

What an interesting restaurant! We went late on a Thursday and were able to get a table right away but I would get a reservation on the weekend. They had great small plates and mixed drinks. The escargot was phenomenal! We also had the dumplings and shared a bulgogi hot pot. Great service and great ambiance inside!

No reservations will be taken under groups of 6 persons. We went for a dinner on a Friday evening at 19.30 and waited a table for a 30minutes. Meanwhile we were seated on the bar, which was nice and we were already served some appetizers. A restaurant is a bit grouded and seems to be popular. Food is delicious! Only negative was on the air condition which was way too cold on our table!

Good Korean restaurant where you can get a hearty meal. Menu selection is quite good and the drinks menu was quite diverse too. Prices were quite reasonable and the wait staff were very nice. We had the bulgogi and tacos.... Interesting but nonetheless very good. Recommended!

I had the Serrano Pepper Margarita (Serrano Pepper Tequlia made in house) that was delicious. The HotPot Tofu and Mushrooms was really good option for non meat eaters.

We just wanted some small plates and a glass of wine for dinner. Barn Too did not disappoint. Great cocktails and really delicious food. The bao and tacos were excellent. A little noisy, but a good destination for a casual but delicious dinner!

A busy and fun restaurant. Staff is friendly and helpful and the food is absolutely great! I would have liked to try more on the menu then the four courses we had.

Had lunch at Barn Joo and it was simply delicious. Every detail was special and remarkable. We had delicious fried spicy dumplings, spicy pork which was extraordinary that came with delicious sides and sauce. Simply unforgettable. We were very well served and well treated. The place is very trendy and well decorated. Very clean restrooms. Definitely will be back.

We called on spec and it was busy. We were seated quickly. Place has a nice atmosphere and quite buzzy. Small tables which makes it cosy and intimate. We chose the chilli prawns which were huge and juicy and the spicy pork bowl which was excellent. Speedy friendly service and nice wine.

A friend of mine love trying new restaurants, we call it our foodie trip to NYC. It's a cute little restaurant with an upper level seating. The interiors amazingly match the menu and staff's are knowledgeable and friendly. We often ask for recommendations and it never fails. Flavorful and light. They call this menu the "korean tapas." Small plates that are shareable.

A great restaurant in Korea town, mid range cost wise with outstanding food, buy a selection of dishes and share them. the flavors are incredible and the selection is wide ranging, I highly recommend this for groups and families alike. Don't miss it!

My colleague and I were visiting the city and were in the Korea Town area looking for a restaurant. Through some recommendations we ended up here and we were not disappointed. The food came out quickly and we found the prices to be very affordable. Had a good meal overall and would recommend it to anyone in the area.

This place is definitely one that I would recommend to anyone looking for excellent Korean food. A buddy of mine recommended that we hang out and I didn't necessarily want any spicy food, but after seeing and smelling the food of my neighbors, I had to try various dishes. We went through the Bun Crispy Chicken, Spicy Charred Chicken and spicy pork. All of them were very delicious and they came in portions that allowed us to try many different dishes. The wait staff is very helpful and attentive. The prices here are competitive and you even have share portions if you are really cheap. I definitely recommend this to everyone. It is always very crowded there, so make sure you plan to wait.

Short stop,in NYC, late dinner with a friend , great atmosphere, wonderful food, friendly staff and awesome cocktails! A gem in K-town The Swede

This place has a really cool bar!. You could go for the BBQ or just fill up on appetizers. Everything is good. There is a pretty nice drink happy hour and service is on point. If you are in this area of town and crave some authentic Korean food, this is your place. The chicken wings, tacos, and sushi rolls are all excellent

A great Korean dining experience in the heart of New York! the cuisine offered by this place is delicious. The staff is courteous and attentive.

We stopped by this Korean restaurant near the Empire State Building for a nice lunch, and the place was perfect. We had reservations, which were needed as it was crowded over the lunch hour. Our waitress was friendly, and the food was quite good. I had a big bowl of something called Kalguksu, which was basically a seafood stew/broth filled with shrimp, clams, mussels, and more, in a base of noodles and broth. It had just enough spicy in it to give it a touch of heat, which I enjoyed. Lunch was reasonably-priced, and the inside of the restaurant was very pleasant. I would recommend going back again for additional meals.

Knowing not very much about where to eat in NYC we’ve been using trip advisor for everything!!! Found this place through TA and was great for a bite after a long day walking! Very busy, great atmosphere and good food that was very decently priced. We had some of the tapas dishes to share and service was extremely quick despite how busy it was.
Buzzy place, great food & service
Restaurant didn’t take reservations but walked in and got a table. Service was excellent really attentive great advice on what to order - was hard to choose! Food was delicious I had the hot bowl and dumplings. Felt stuffed after! Great place in Koreatown.
