Avoid!

By Alessandro S |

Obscene. They served us an appetizer with practically raw green beans, only vegetables (but we knew this) but in a single dish with everything mixing together. Following are 3 first course tastings: 1) spaghetti all'amatriciana (lots of onion, tomato and bacon which was not crunchy but boiled); 2) pasta with broccoli (raw broccoli and “washed” pasta taste test); 3) ravioli (unknown seasoning). The three first courses in a single dish in which the spaghetti floated in the "broth" of the pasta with the broccoli instead wallowing in the (unknown) cream of the ravioli. If this is Bastianich's cuisine, then my grandmother has 10 Michelin stars! And then they also go on TV to bullshit aspiring chefs... Not recommended? Nooooo, not recommended!!!

Allergies are not considered

By Giulia A |

If you do have allergies, just like me, I don’t recommend eating here. When our waiter was asked about the ingredients in the pastas he couldn’t answer and didn’t provide enough information to our table for me to eat. I could only eat one dish of pastas out of the three that were served because I wasn’t sure about what was inside or used to cook them. Also my mom is a fan of Joe’s and she wanted to know if he stopped by the restaurant anytime, when I asked the waiter about it he answered very impolitely and almost making fun of her asking. I do not recommend eating here at all. The food was cold and also the ambiance. Please make up for this inconvenience of the food allergens and consequent possibility to eat for people that have a problem like me.

Diner beware!

By maimy76 |

Lidia Bastianich should disassociate s herself with this restaurant. It certainly doesn't live up to what one would expect from her. Two of us had dinner here last night. Not one dish was edible! We started with the mozzarella en carrozza. One of our favorite dishes. This was melted cheese in a hamburger roll! Awful! We ordered the veal chop and the chicken Parmesan, neither of which were edible. The mashed potatoes that came with the veal chop was the saving grace. It was the only thing we were able to eat. They brought around three kinds of pasta, one worse than the other. The manager did come over and offered to change things for us. We let her change one of the pastas, it was just as bad as the first one. We did not have dessert. We were on our way to the theater. The restaurant is extremely noisy! They did nothing to insulate the ceiling. If possible, you should try to eat upstairs that is if you think of ever going there. The nicest thing I can say about the restaurant is the staff is incredibly nice! The manager did take one of our dishes off the bill. She should have taken off both of them as we did not eat anything. We won't be eating here ever again

Quick & decent

By Ash & Jon |

Went here prior to a show and food was decent to good. The pasta was a set menu with 3 options so you had to hope one was prepared in a way you liked. The place struck as a place that was trying to turn tables as quickly as possible. We had no problem getting to the show on time but definitely was not a very personal, relaxing experience.

Limited Vegan Options

By malonerd |

This listing says there are vegan options, but they are very limited to some vegetable sides that happen to be vegan. There are no vegan pasta options.

Unique, You'll love

Homemade pasta, delicious sauces, fresh bread...treat yourself to at least one exceptional meal while in New York or if a New Yorker, when you want to say thank you to someone special. Here's from their website: Located on New York’s famed Restaurant Row in the heart of the theater district... Becco is most famous for its innovative pasta tasting menu...

To forget

By Traveler55134496448 |

A trio of poor quality first courses is not recommended and with a glass of sweet water wine the expense is excessive even for NY. Approximately 70 dollars

Very Disappointed

By R8397ILmatta |

Had high hopes for Lydia's restaurant. Left extremely disappointed. My daughter has a dairy allergy so asked for pasta without cheese. The restaurant couldn't accommodate, meaning all the pastas were premade and premixed. Lamb extremely fatty. Chicken parm no different than what you might get from a streetside pizza place. Appetizers very uninspired. Unfortunately, an expensive tourist trap and certainly inauthentic.

Very good spot for pre theatre dinner

By Montauk123 |

My wife and I (60's) had dinner here prior to seeing a show on Broadway. Location close to most theatres. Seating a little close together. Service a little slow to start, but once got going, and we mentioned we were going to a show, moved along well, without being rushed. I had the fish special and wife to chicken limone, and both were very good (Comes with a caesar salad). See $35 per bottle wine list on back of menu.

Disappointing

By Diane B |

The service was slow and the pasta trio did not come out all together. We had finished two of the pasta selections and waited probably 20 minutes for the 3rd. The food was sub-par at best. One of my favorite restaurants in KC is Lidia's so was really looking forward to this place but it did not hold up.

Go Elsewhere

We cannot recommend Becco's. We were packed in like sardines. No room for even the servers to do their job as we were backed up against 3 walls. We had to pass the food down or the plates up as the servers couldn't come behind us. Really we were concerned about the safety of the restaurant; if there had been a fire or other emergency I don't know how all of us could have gotten out. The room very very loud and too hot, probably 75 degrees or more. The food was OK but not great. It's a fixed menu and a fixed price, $100; even the little kids paid $100 each (15 month old, 5, 6, & 9yrs old). The 3 pasta selections were varied: penne with shrimp, pumpkin ravioli, and pasta primavera (with very few vegetables and almost no flavor). The salads were roasted vegetables ( nice variety) and Caesar salad which also lacked flavor. We were told it would be family style and the food would be placed on the table which would have been a good idea but instead the servers came around and put the food on the plates we passed to them. Not ideal at all. You are allotted 90 minutes and they let you know this in advance. With a large table of people this became impossible and we were almost 2 hours. Still we felt the pressure of getting out as quickly as possible and this lessens a good experience at an otherwise well regarded Italian restaurant. I gave this 1 star because the servers were really working hard and were pleasant.

Why Didn't We Know About This Place Sooner??

By Elman1952 |

A friend who lived in New York some time ago suggested we try Becco the next time we went to the Theatre District. We went on a Friday evening before a show. Our reservation was at 6 PM and we arrived a couple of minutes late and we had to wait about 5 minutes to be seated. Our server was excellent. The restaurant was packed and very loud, but the service was prompt and attentive. We ordered wine and a cocktail while we looked over the menu and listened to the descriptions of the specials. Both the drinks were excellent. We both had one of the specials, which were both huge and delicious. We shared a dessert special, also wonderful. We will be back. I hightly recommend.

Not as good as previous visits

By John S |

I have been here several times on different trips to NYC. It's usually a good option before going to see a Broadway show. My last visit wasn't that great. Food was average. I hope it was an anomoly.

Non-professional staff

By Valeria T |

What do you think? Unfortunately our experience at Becco was not positive at all. Last Sunday, June 15, we decided to go to dinner at Becco's to celebrate a special moment (the proposal of marriage!). We booked a table of 6 (4 adults, 1 boy and 1 girl) at 20:45 and arrived a few minutes before 21 (so less than 15 min late as “granted” when booking). Not even after 10 minutes of taking a seat, the waiter urged us to order because the kitchen was about to close. But how? We arrive at 9:00 p.m. and the kitchen closes shortly after? Just before the dishes arrive another waiter, without uttering a word only in gestures, makes another person move with the chair and me to open a table extension table. He therefore removed part of the equipment in an unprofessional manner. From the kitchen, despite in full dinner time, there were loud and annoying noises of dishes, staff loading and unloading cassettes as if the place were closed. Maximum respect for the work even tiring but I think that every processing step has its moment. Kitchen staff who, having finished their shift, rest (rightly!!!!) but with little decency: shoes off and then bare feet, very relaxed on the main counter of the restaurant... The food was not bad so it was a shame because it could have been a nice experience, just a little extra foresight that should be basic for those who work in a restaurant (a restaurant, not a fast food). I wonder if Bastianich knows how his Hell’s Kitchen place is run!

We are not here

By Francesca T |

Booked from Italy with great curiosity, unfortunately expectations remain far higher than reality. If the owner sat down one evening for dinner in our place you would surely witness one of his famous Masterchef scenes complete with throwing dishes. We are grounded by poor quality, incomprehensible rules (why do I choose the trifecta to eat pasta or I cannot choose?), questionable service. I count through the roof for eating little and nothing.

Pre-show meal

By RebeccaMinn |

We had a 4.30 reservation and the restaurant called us to confirm and also ask if we were seeing a show afterwards so they could make sure we had plenty of time to eat beforehand. The service was fantastic and the food was amazing. My kids had one of their specials - the lasagna - and it was the best we have ever tasted. My husband had the pasta trio and said it was fantastic. Staff, atmosphere, service were all top notch - highly recommend!

Disappointment

By Alessandranie |

Dear Joe Let me start by saying that we are your fans in Italy. This is why we decided to eat in your restaurant. But if you claim to be the top of Italian cuisine in NYC then we expect to find a dinner up to par. The service was not professional and putting 3 different types of pasta on the same plate (groin with clams, ravioli and farfalle with tomato) is not pleasant at all. The appetizer was a bite each... Too bad we didn't expect it from you. Better to eat New York

Nice Italian restaurant

By Sal51275 |

Nice Italian restaurant located I. The Hell’s Kitchen area close to Times Square. Good quality Italian food. Nice waiters

Noisy

By Freedom45074690695 |

Macro restaurant and very noisy. Great service. Tasty meat. The pasta not particularly recommended. Rather expensive price.

Disappointed

By Janet P |

The waiter never ordered the soup one of our party requested. My meal was burnt and not medium as I ordered!!! A large party was seated next to us and I felt their table was right on top of us! It was not the same restaurant that I remembered!

Wonderful meal and friendly & efficient service

By Ian C |

Was recommended to us by friends who live in NYC ... we were not disappointed ... our table was ready upon our arrival, drinks served promptly and all of our meals were excellent ... great caesar salads and desserts too ... loved the vibe too ... little loud but in an energetic way not an unpleasant way ... enjoyable place for a great meal with excellent service.

Heavy rotation Italian in Manhattan

By Peter W |

We were 16 in total, 14 Europeans and 2 Americans, and had dinner here. * Set up One big & large table on the 2nd floor which was ok but the seating was rather tight, as in the whole restaurant btw. * Service This was our 3rd dinner in NYC so we had a base to compare. Here, it felt really industrial and rushed, as if the staff was under big time pressure, compared to the usual warm Italian style service we are used to in Europe. In fact, not sure whether any Italians even work there. * Food Most of us had the “Sinfonia di paste” set menu where you start off with a cesar salad or veggie antipasti followed by 3 sorts of pasta : spaghetti pesto, mushroom ravioli, lobster/shrimp pasutice. These are all served at the same time in your plate, thus mixing the 3 sauces together which is a shame for your taste buds. We found the food was good, but nothing special, especially the lobster/shrimp dish where one would really have to be lucky to have some lobster… * Budget We had wine, beer and softs with our meals and ended up @ 80$ a head which we found rather on the expensive side. A 20% gratuity was added automatically, being a larger group. Maybe we had a particular experience being a larger group, but even as a couple, we will not return.

Becco's is a joy

By Monica C |

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in NYC, not just for theater. The staff is so welcoming and friendly, generous and funny. We had the Buratta appetizer (wow) and the three pasta deal, where you can eat as much of any or all three pastas till you explode. The eggplant ravioli was my favorite, but all three were superb. We eat at Becco every time we come into town. You should try it if you haven't.

Just Fantastic

By OurPup |

What a perfect evening. Going to see Hamilton just down the street. Super service, really great pasta (we did the theatre dinner) and great wine.

Meh.

By Barbara G |

Was very excited to go to Lidia's restaurant in NYC as I am a big fan. What a letdown. #1- they seated us next to the kitchen , noise and Clorox smell. #2- the waitress was not attentive at all. Didn't bring our drinks: had to be reminded twice. Not friendly, didn't ask if we liked everything, unable to recommend wines. #3 handicapped accessible only if they manually set up a ramp. Very stressful. Panna cotta was good. Appetizers were good + they brought some extras to try.

Disappointed after many good prior trips.

By _gelderj |

Have been here a number of times while visiting New York. This time was disappointing, they just seem to be cycling people through. Had an 8 o’clock reservation, got seated at 8:20. No water or condiments offered. Food came but still no wine that we ordered prior. Quite disappointed in our 4th trip. Probably not coming back.

Restaurant Week

By Shaun M |

The food was delicious. I had the restaurant week menu - antipasto misto, chicken parm, and ricotta cheesecake. The chicken parm was some of the best I’ve ever had. It’s a cozy restaurant. The server was attentive, but he was friendlier with other tables than he was with mine. Overall, this was a solid choice for pre-theatre dinner.

Highly recommend!

By Abigail G |

All of the dishes we ordered were absolutely delicious! From the fresh caesar salad appetizer to the amazing salmon, we had no complaints! The apple strudel dessert was a perfect end to the night.

Of Italian there is only the name

By Matteo F |

You ask for a plate of pasta with tomato sauce and they force you to take an embarrassing trifecta in one dish. Bad lasagna

Italian food ok

By Manuela B |

We decided to return to this restaurant owned by the Bastianic family (I don't know if they are still the owners), after having been there several years ago. Restaurant already full at 6.30pm, efficient waiters and good food I recommend to everyone

Italian-American

By guido s |

There is very little left of Italian, but the trio of pasta at around $30 (minus tax and free, as always in New York) is worth a stop.

Great Experience on Restaurant Row!

By Brian M |

Dinner was with two New Yorkers and two out-of-town guests. The service was perfect, and the food was excellent. It was obvious that the management is hands-on and working to ensure good service. A very good bottle of wine at a very fair price. The New Yorkers will be back!

Great pasta!

By Melissa N |

Ate there for my birthday on Friday night (March 10) Alex was the waiter. Great food, service. The place is nice but i was a party of 2 and we were crammed up against a wall with little to no room at all.

Walk in dinner

By Rachel S |

Lovely atmosphere, welcoming front of house staff, delicious and very generous pasta portions and fabulous red wine! Thanks for the experience

Joe, we're not here!

By Marianna M |

Fascinated by Bastianich’s Family, we decided to spend an evening at Becco’s. Friendly local, attentive service and friendly staff. We ordered the pasta trilogy: to be said, all well executed; however, the choice to put in the same dish all three types from a single result: the "mappazzone". It would be enough to serve them in a plate with dividers, but in this way really the mushroom sauce of the ravioli went to pasta with tomato sauce, even not! Very American effect that would in my opinion be avoided. Ah, and fast service is fine, but this turned out to be really fast: from 20:50 to 21:15. Had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc cellar Bastianich, great. To see dear Joe again!

Great Spot for a Pre-Show Dinner

By Brian K |

Excellent pre-show meal. There were 9 of us and all raved about the food. Service was fast and friendly, atmosphere was upscale yet casual. Would highly recommend.

Horrible

By Mikenyc588 |

We visited Becco on the night of 7/1. I’ve been going to Becco my entire life and have never had such an awful experience there. First, I had to ask 3 different people to bring butter for the bread. That took around 15 minutes. Then our waiter did not greet us for at least 10 minutes because he had other tables and he apparently cannot multitask. We ordered entrees with pasta and informed them no shrimp due to allergies. They brought pasta with shrimp and we had to tell them again. Then after we were finished our entrees we wanted dessert. Waiter brought over dessert menus. Then we proceeded to wait and wait until he took care of other people at different t tables with all white people. He was way more attentive the entire time to his other tables and it doesn’t look good that I was sitting with a black person and our service was abysmal the entire time. I informed him that I we’ve been waiting to order dessert and he had the nerve to say that “oh I thought you guys were talking”. Last time I checked people are allowed to talk while dining in a restaurant. Everyone was taking. Becco is a loud restaurant. I am no tourist and I will be trashing this place on yelp as Trip Adviser as well No manager every came over. The waiters name is Alejandr. I will even try my hardest to make sure Lidia finds out about this. Not a good look.

Great spot for dinner before or after a show!

By Thomas K |

Great spot for dinner before or after a show. The three pasta special served with choice of Caesar Salad or Antipasto can not be beat. Great value for NYC. Nice wine list and cocktails. Service was excellent as well. Definitely suggest reservations as the place gets very busy.

We love it!!

By Kara W |

My sister and I stopped in at the recommendation of our hotel staff across the street. Our meal was incredible. The pasta special was delicious. 3 types were all equally tasty and unique, the antipasti was flavourful and satisfying. No room for dessert unfortunately but I will definitly be back. A gentleman across from us was dining alone and told us he comes as often as he can because the pasta special is always changing and something new and always very good. Highly recommend.

Disappointment

By Navigator17619707331 |

Only 3 pasta dishes cocked in a non-italian way. Big disappointment. Very stressful; get in, order, get the food in 5 minutes, out. 👇 It's so far from the atmosphere you feel in a restaurant in Italy. Sorry but never again.

Excellent food

By Reneezy214 |

Food was delicious and portions were very generous. We ordered lemon chicken and three people had the all you can eat pasta. Caesar salad was excellent. The chicken was devine—wanted every last bit of the sauce. Would have loved another piece of focaccia to soak up the sauce. The consensus was the cheese-stuffed shells in a tomato sauce s and the pesto pasta were very good, bolognese pasta was satisfactory. The riccotina and Apple strudel desserts were spectacular, the brownie sundae was ok. Not thrilled that you’re charged for every soda refill for a small glass. It was $7 for about 1.5 cans of Diet Coke. We wouldn’t have said yes to refills had we known. It was still delicious in an inviting family-friendly atmosphere.

Convenient location but very mediocre food and poor service

By Thomas |

My wife and I were guest on 4/21. I selected the halibut which was very ordinary and my wife selected chicken al limone which was amazingly tasteless. She requested a doggie bag which was truly for my two dogs who are not particularly selective. Worse yet was the service as not only was it non-attentive but the female server was actually disrespectful to my wife. My brother-in-law simply asked her if she could take a photo. Apparently, my wife did not hear his request and repeated the request The server in a very snarky tone barked out, “That’s why I have my hand out!” I happen to own a business and I would never tolerate one of my staff treating a patron in such a manner.

Outstanding pre-show restaurant

By Kevin K |

For a large restaurant, they manage to keep the food at an incredibly high level. The veal parmigiana is the best I’ve had. And the service is as good as the meal. Our waiter, Alex R, was a consummate professional who made the experience even more special. If you’re in NYC to see a show on Broadway, this is the place to go!

Good value

By Tammy C |

Great value for NYC! Cannot beat the quality and price of the Theatre District. Been there several times and highly recommend it.

Disappointing

By AM |

After much hype and various recommendations, we booked Becco for pre-theater dinner. We went in with high expectations. The first let down was the table. I felt like I was sitting at a child's desk. The tables for 2 were tiny, tight, and uncomfortable. Ridiculous, even for NY standards. We decided to order the pasta deal, which include either a caesar salad or antipasto plate and 3 pastas, which are all you can eat. Second let down - the antipasto was pretty mediocre and would have been nice to have freshly grilled veggies. Have never seen spaghetti squash on an antipasto plate. The pastas were hot and plentiful. The ravioli was delicious the farfelle in a spicy tomato sauce was terrific but......spaghetti with clams. OMG the clams came right from the ocean and were full of sand! When asked by the manager?? who was walking by, how was everything, I mentioned the clams and she said thanks, I will tell the chef. Really? That's all you have to offer? Was not looking for a free meal but perhaps maybe some clams which were not filled with sand? Been there, done that, won't be going back or recommending.

Decent experience

By Claudio G |

Place for casual evening. Italian cuisine with American influences. The dishes ordered were good

THANKS

By philippe |

Again and again. You were super. The service, the food, the drinks….. TOP. Thx my BECCO friend for the nice feeling. Again…..

To be avoided

By matty c |

We stayed with friends tonight and I must say that the service was terrible! Almost abused by arrogant waiters, a shame! Yet we were tt great and professional people but , from the start, one William treated us in a really rude way. Also for the bill we had moments of tension. To avoid!!!

Lamb Chops Awful

By Mary A |

I love this restaurant and honestly will come back but my lamb chops last night were terrible. Full of SO much fat. I had maybe 2 ounces of meat. The second lamb chop had no red meat on it. I asked for medium rare and it was over cooked. Very disappointing meal. My husband's stuffed pepper was delicious.

Skip Becco

By Memphisgirl2014 |

Wonderful service but the food was so incredibly average. The pasta trio tasted like something a beginning cook would make at home - bland, no seasoning, no sauce. The portions were huge, way too much for one person. In a city with so much good food, Becco was very disappointing.

Great pasta in New York and excellent Pauline Service!

By SIMONA BERTON |

We had dinner at this restaurant with with a group of friends of 15 people. I booked on Open Table. The restaurant is very close to Times Square and we had a great time. The manager of our table, Paolino, took care of the orders and was attentive to our requests and allergies. We ordered the Sinfonia di Pasta menu which includes the high meal, the Cesar Salad served with focaccia and excellent quality oil. The pasta dishes are very good. The pasta is homemade. Recipes are made at the moment. The restaurant is between the elegant and the style of a typical Italian trattoria. We spent a modest price on New York. I recommend everyone to go to this restaurant. Thank you Paolino for the wonderful evening you made us spend!

Delicious meal for 2

By James K |

Restaurant was packed but we didn't wait long. Both of us got the unlimited pasta special and all 3 were delicious. Especially the ravioli. Service was wonderful and efficient.

Non-professional staff

By Cristian M |

Seismo were last night, put in a room on the second floor with maximum air conditioning, non-existent cleaning the chairs of our table were dirty with oil, the waitress was indisposing we asked for x three times bread but not of and minimally concerned to bring it. Just enough food gets better

Delicious 3 varieties of pasta

By Tempesttost |

The all you can eat pasta has to be one of the best deals in the city. Caesar salad, 3 types of innovative delicious pasta to try, and a cozy atmosphere. What more could you want? Very close to Broadway theatres and waitstaff asked if I was attending a show and what time it began in order to pace my meal so that I finished dinner in plenty of time.

Great place to eat … but need to be hungry !!

By Lukmas |

Nice place in Hell’s Kitchen .. Italian style is almost everywhere ! Good food and fast service, if you are hungry is the best choice. Fixed menu has a good dish choice, 3 pasta dishes with all you can eat style are amazing and tasty. A very beautiful bar area for waiting the table.

Good food good service

By Edward. |

A cozy Italian restaurant in New York , we are here for quick dinner after a long walk in New York . Service staff are friendly and attentive. Food portion is big enough for Asian like me . But some people may think it’s too closed to each table , but that’s how it works in big city. But for tourist like me , we enjoyed our dinner very much.

Good Italian

By Dan M |

We had a recommendation to go here, good traditional Italian. I had veal which was good. Everything comes with Caesar salad which is different. You would walk past if you look at it from the front but it is worth it

Food was great

By KCfromKCNY |

The food was fabulous. I had the 3 pasta special and it’s a good deal . Comes with salad or appetizer . The service was excellent . The only complaint I have is that with a reservation we were seated all the way in the back in small tables and uncomfortable chairs. There were better tables up front .

Negative experience

By Claudia B |

Very rough service the waiters throw the stuff at you on the plate Symphony of pasta were three types of pasta with three different sauces all in the same dish , in the end it tasted all of arrabbiata sauce the only decent because the rest we forget We had many expectations but here of Italian cuisine there is very little and we spent a lot on what we ate and drank Experience made but not repeated!

Convenient and Delicious

By fun2travel68 |

We chose this restaurant because it’s very close to the theater district and we had tickets to a play. Great service, good food, nice atmosphere for fine dining. They jammed as many tables in as possible so it felt a little tight, but that’s New York!

DISASTER!

By Nickbert96 |

Restaurant that calls itself Italian but isn't. Staff not very attentive to cleanliness even under the tables and unprofessional in managing dirty dishes and where to put them. They certainly wouldn't go into the room where the customers are. Lots of dust on the skirting boards and on the walls protruding behind the chairs. Food not of excellent quality and tap water to be avoided. Tried it because it was close to the accommodation but I'm sure the city offers better.

That's Italian!

By Helane G |

What a delicious and delightful pre theatre dinner. Reservation honored and seated promptly., we felt very welcomed and the pre theatre vibe was great. While the food was the star, the service was outstanding and fun chatting with dining neighbors made this a truly 5 star experience. The wine selection was excellent- and the food extraordinary! We've enjoyed Italian food many times over the years- this dinner was a highlight. We ordered entrees with the pasta trio as a side- so we enjoyed proteins ( veal special and veal chop) along with the pasta. Yum yum. All served hot and promptly. Don't miss this spot! It's fantastic!

Same time, next year!

By kismetalex |

Our last Becco dinner was pre Covid and we hoped it didn’t change in years since. It hadn’t! Maybe we enjoyed it even more because our NYC visits are not many. Dave had the pasta trio after an antipasto just as they offer in Rome, and I had the pear and Gorgonzola salad and the meatballs. Never seen such attentive, smiling waitstaff. It blew the night before restaurant out of the water and we will be back !

Revoke his license

By Carmela N |

The area is nice...and the positive things end there! We got the Sinfonia package of pasta. It included an appetizer with vegetables and a trio of pasta. Well! The vegetables were truly 0 km in the sense that the greengrocer put them on the plate. To say raw is an understatement! The pasta? A trio (amatriciana, ravioli, pasta with broccoli) all in one. On the bed of broccoli pasta broth the bucatino happily floated, embraced with the bacon... panicky! Trust me, change your ways!

Average food and not what we expected

By Mare D |

We enjoy watching Lidia Bastianich's programs and were excited to try Becco when we arrived in NYC but unfortunately we found this restaurant to be average and not what we had anticipated. It is so tight in this restaurant that it is awkward having a conversation with whomever you're with without having to eavesdrop on the next table's conversation. Although the waiters were very nice, the service felt very rushed. The food was good but we wouldn't say superb. We had an antipasto and the three types of pasta dinner and although we were full at the end of the meal, we were surprised at how mediocre dinner was. The antipasto had no salumi and only one small piece of mozzarella and the rest of it was vegetables. The other part of the antipasto was a small piece of salmon and some pieces of octopus with potatoes and those were both good. The pasta was nothing special, one with four cheeses, one alla bolognese and homemade spaghetti pasta with a spicy sauce. My husband asked for Italian beer, like Peroni or Moretti and they didn't have it, which was surprising considering it's an Italian restaurant. Lastly, they need to do a better job of keeping the restaurant clean, the bathrooms and hallway were dirty and looked like they hadn't been cleaned in days. All in all, for the price we paid to eat here, we had a much better meal and overall experience in Little Italy and we paid less! We like Lidia and enjoy watching her cooking shows but if we ever go back to NYC, we won't be eating at Becco.

IT IS NOT AN ITALIAN RESTAURANT

By Roberto |

Italian flavors are light years away from that place. They proposed a triptych of first courses and an inedible baked rooster

NIGHTMARE KITCHEN

By Claudia V |

We ordered a mixed ITALIAN appetizer, various raw vegetables and sauerkraut arrived (typical Italian dish), mortadella in vinegar that I didn't even know existed... we continued with a trio of pasta that had an indescribable taste but which I don't recommend trying and the polenta with speck which was semolina with bacon. Don't go near it, it's much worse than American food.

Good choice in mid-town

By Idania28 |

Becco came onto my radar as a convenient spot for a Sunday lunch before our Broadway show. I wanted a non- touristy spot with quality food. Being owned by the Bastianich group helped seal the choice. We enjoyed a leisurely paced meal with friendly service. Appetizers Caesar salad Entrees Salmon w fava bean puree Zuppa do pesce over polenta Bisteca di Manzo Dessert Cannoli We were very pleased with our meal. Loved the convenience to the theatre as well. A good choice in mid-town.

However recommended.

By DoneVT7 |

Overcrowded place, not spotless, old man and confusing. Good cuisine and fairly respectful of Italian tradition and prices, although very expensive as New York 2024 demands, honest (even wine 40 usd the bottle, apart always tips & tax seems absurd but in New York it's not that expensive...).

Absolute disappointment or to put it Bastianich way, "do you want me to die?"

By Marco Scomazzon |

Unfortunately, the name of the mother, a great cook, is devalued. The food nothing exceptional indeed. There were 11 of us more than half took the trio of pasta, but it was completely scalded. Service leaves something to be desired, the salad before the pasta served as if it were a trowel and there is no fact that the waiters pass to serve and collect the dishes passing in front of the diners who are still or already eating. In conclusion it would be better to see in your own home before going to judge others. Maybe Americans can like us absolutely not. Given 2 for wine

Tasteless food and bad service

By Sally30 |

We are here before a show and the best thing I can say about the restaurant is that we were not late. The food was lousy - we got the pasta special which was an antipasto (which was fine) followed by three pasta dishes. They were all flavorless and dumped onto a single plate. The pasta with shrimp and vodka sauce has one tiny shrimp, the pasta primavera was over cooked and tasted like something from a school cafeteria and the ravioli was bad too. I think the food at a food court or Olive Garden would have been better. The waiters were rude. They told we needed to hurry to make our show then wouldn’t take our order for 20 minutes. There are many far better places to go to dinner before a show.

Affordable italian!

By Hany G |

It is one of the best italian restaurants in town. It is kind of a small restaurant with moderate ambiance. I had the pork shank, and it was very tasty, and the meat was falling out of the bone. They also have all you can eat pasta, but we didn't get it. The service was genuinely friendly.

Experience not to be repeated

By debora v |

Very old place, trio of terrible first courses, put them all in the same dish so all the sauces mix together. It's not really Italian. Positive note the ceaser salad, I must say very good.

A New Favorite!

By Mariette H |

Don't miss this quintessential NY Italian eatery! It was a bit crowded and noisy with tables close together, but the atmosphere was very pleasant and convivial. My husband had the fixed-price pasta special - three different and generous pasta offerings (I had a taste of each). They were all fresh and scrumptious. I had the special crispy-skinned striped bass over Italian couscous with mixed vegetables and it was excellent. They offer several good wines by the glass and the pours are generous. We were too full for dessert but the diners around us seemed to be greatly enjoying theirs.

Perfect Pre-Show meal

Delicious and a great value! A quick meal before the theater in a space that feels cozy and authentic. I will definitely be back for a pre-show meal!

Yummy Italian

By ybqueen |

A group of eight of us had a very enjoyable dinner at Becco. Three of our party had the pasta special where you could eat unlimited ravioli, fusilli, and tortellini. All were superb especially the beet ravioli. Two of us had veal, and my husband enjoyed an enormous portion of lasagna. The service was extra extraordinary thing and although we were very full two of us enjoyed Italian ice cream.

Terrible bucket

By Xxx |

Tonight we decided to have dinner at this restaurant for our last dinner in New York we were 4 people, it was terrible. The staff unhelpful and unprofessional, the place very noisy, the food not up to fame. We were extremely disappointed. We will definitely not recommend it to anyone.

Only "ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT" pasta ??

By pino m |

The restaurant has a nice ambience and the service is fine. But I think that most people who choose an Italian restaurant would like to be able to choose a nice pasta dish among several. Well, that choice is NOT what the Becco owners give you. If you are craving pasta then you have to take their only option which is a "all you can eat" of three different kinds that some nice waiters will shovel into your plate from huge trays. Quite disgusting for a restaurant that bears the Bastianich name. If I was interested in the "all you can eat" formula I wouldn't go to that type of restaurant. When I asked the waiter whether we could have one order anyway and share for our table (because we were ordering several non-pasta main course dishes) they replied "not shareable as it is all-you-can-eat". So that sealed it. My first time at an Italian restaurant where I couldn't order a nice pasta dish!!

Judge less Mr. B…..

By AlleP79 |

I went to this restaurant just to see for myself the cuisine proposed and praised by the well-known Owner of this restaurant. We took advantage of the menu consisting of three samples of first courses. Apart from the quantity offered (the table neighbors were served three times and then took away part of the dinner in a tray ... no comment) the quality is very far from an average Italian dish, as the proposed recipes did not minimally reflect the canons of the (albeit simple) Italian recipes. Perhaps the Owner should judge less and check the status of his restaurant more for himself, not only in the kitchen, as there were cobwebs, dust on the bottles and seepage of water from the skylight. Too bad the place itself would be nice.

Long story short

By roberto ghislotti |

.... this restaurant can only be good for those who are not Italian and do not know our cuisine... if you are Italian forget it... dear and bad service,.

Great!

By Minky |

Fantastic Italian food, am planning another visit soon. Go for the past special; appetizer, salad and 3 varieties of pasta.

Delicious and close to the Broadway shows

By Dapger |

I loved this place. Mike our waiter was great. The lasagna was delicious and the three pasta platter was overflowing and savory. It’s close the broadway do you can come before or after a show. Make a reservation way ahead of time.

Nice cozy Italian

By Gris115 |

Food was excellent - Service was excellent. Warm cozy atmosphere. Would def return. Table favorite - Caesar salad and veal chop

Will not be returning. Food was just not up to par

By ysw95 |

I have eaten at Becco many times over the years. While the service and ambiance was fine, the quality of the food has gone down hill. The salads are preprepared so ordering any modifications other than no croutons was not possible. The mussels might be the worst thing I have ever tasted. There was no taste. The liquid was just liquid and the mussels were inedible. I was offered to have more butter and wine put in the liquid but I did not want the mussels as cooking them more would make them chewier. The chicken parmigiana was fine. The lamb chop was very fatty, difficult to cut and low on seasoning. I had the salmon dish. Salmon was cooked nicely and presentation was fine. Mustard sauce was a little too sweet. The root vegetables might have been the best thing served all evening. For dessert, we ordered the ricotta cheesecake with strawberries. That was enjoyable. We also got the 3 sorbets. They all tasted pretty much the same but that was the only gluten free dessert and dairy free dessert on the menu. The service was good and the server was very pleasant. The food, however, is the reason why I will not be returning to Becco's. Too expensive not to enjoy a good meal especially when there are other restaurants in Manhattan that I could have gotten a tastier meal.

Nice menu and atmosphere but disappointing experience

By ProHistorian |

Becco is charming and has a very nice menu, but the experience was disappointing. We arrived for a post-theater reservation a few minutes before 9:00 pm and were rushed to order everything at once, with the result that appetizers arrived before our cocktails and entrees before we were halfway through the starters. The mop was in the hall before dessert was discussed. Beccco should not take post-theater reservations if guests are not allowed time to enjoy dinner. As for the food, the osso buco was dry. From the taste of the sauce, I believe it would have been delicious at a pre-theater seating. For many--including me-- the marrow is a highlight of this dish, but the shank was overcooked to the point that the marrow had completely evaporated. Co-owner Lidia's recipe calls for serving this dish with a marrow spoon or an espresso spoon, if not available, neither of which was presented, so the kitchen either knew they were sending out an over-cooked dish, or they serve it contrary to the famous owners' instructions.

A lovely birthday dinner for two!

By editted |

What a lovely experience! A pre-treated dinner That exceeded expectations. Our waiter, Cesar, was wonderful. We never felt rushed or pushed to finish a course. The halibut my husband had was nonpareil! On a bed of fresh corn with chanterelles! Amazing. My zuppe de pesche was delightful: scallops, shrimp, salmon and tuna over a white polenta. The calamari friti to start was hit, light and not at all oily. A lively meal All Around!’

A popular spot on Restaurant Row

By disgustorama |

Pre theater dinner at this bustling spot: welcoming staff and prompt service and uncomfortable seating, squeezed in between other tables for two. The table was not big enough for the entrees we ordered. The salad I ordered was overly dressed and too vinegary, the arancini tasted weird ( I couldn’t tell what was in there). The Tuna and avocado tartare was good and the mussels were ok. More attention to details would be appreciated.

Unlimited pasta. 😊

By princesspenny |

We had the unlimited pasta selection. It was delicious. Accompanied by a nice Sauvignon. We both had the Caesar salad appetizer. Really fresh. The pasta selection was delicious. Really hot and whilst we could only manage one selection, they actively encourage you to have more - always circulating with more pasta. It was really buzzy and packed. I’d advise a reservation in advance. Highly recommend.

Much better Italian options in NYC, poor service and average food

By traveller976 |

We've been to Becco twice before on previous NYC trips and loved it, so we were really excited to be going back. We were disappointed - it's not at all how it used to be. First and foremost, our server was terrible. Thev service felt very rushed, he did a poor job explaining the menu, and he seemed annoyed when I reminded him about a forgotten item. We remember always having had great service at this restaurant in the past, with very professional waitstaff. Second, the food was average. We all ordered the pasta special which was OK but not great, no one in our group was overly impressed. The ambiance is still good, but with the poor service and average food, we can't recommend it anymore and won't be back.

Bad.

By monstermax_2012 |

Reception non-existent despite having reserved. Local set up with traffic of huge tables during dinner, unsympathetic and hasty staff not at all welcoming bad food Cesar Salad with not even the taste of chicken and cheese nonexistent, pasta hot and tasteless seconds without flavors if not that of too much salt brought to the table before the end of dinner as if to say leave, tip on account and required even after. Really upsetting that his name is there In a bad place like that.

I had high expectations

By Familygasi |

I expected something more. Not quality food. The three types of pasta served in the same dish. Despite this, high prices. I'd rather pay a little more in other places.

Delicious pasta near theatre district

By Ashley O |

Get the simfonia of pasta. 3 daily pasta dishes, unlimited servings, although I couldn’t finish the first plateful. Portions are generous. Includes salad or grilled biggie appetizer. Server was very friendly. The tables were close together, but I chatted with other diners around me. Make a reservation online to ensure you get in. I enjoyed my lunch before catching a matinee show on Broadway. It’s just a couple blocks walk from the theatres.

Do not recommend

By LoveTravel638408 |

I was so excited to go to this restaurant! I am a faithful watcher of Lidia and thought this would be a wonderful Italian experience. It was not. The free appetizers including good Italian bread, olives and a spread were good and the highlight of the meal. We ordered the pumpkin soup and caesar salad for appetizers. The pumpkin soup was a thin, watery soup, slightly tasting of cinnamon. The casar salad was ok, however there were some brown lettuce pieces. My husband ordered the chicken with mushroom risotto, the chicken did not have any taste and the rissoto was thin and not good (I also tasted it). He had to buy ginger ale on the way back to the hotel as his stomach was upset. I had two appetizers as my entree, the meatballs with Sunday gravy and the polenta. The meatballs did not have much flavor, no garlic and the polenta with cheese and Prosciutto was ok. We ended up bagging the food and giving it away on the street to someone. I never write reviews but felt I had to write this one as I was really disappointed.

No, I did not see Lydia either time

By Arthur D |

As we all know, New York’s a bit of a hype, but the food here is all it’s cracked up to be. I’ve been here twice the second time by accident. I was walking by and I looked in to make sure it was the same place, and they offered To seat us immediately, and I could not pass up the chance to eat a second late lunch for the day at a five star restaurant. The seating is very tight so even though it is New York there may be some conversation with the table next to you. The bar area is congested to say the least the food more than makes up for any less than Sterling commentary you could have for this place. The staff does a great job working in their environment.

100% Italian

If you are Italian and looking for a place to go to eat like home go to Becco. Pasta like that made by mom Friendly staff sin inside it gets cold in summer you die so bring a golf:)

Not Italian as expected

By Mark T. |

Been there with friends. Sorry to say, but the food doesn’t reflect the Italian kitchen and style at all. The first suspicious point was the menu which is appealing, that’s why didn’t give a 1 star, but there are some huge spelling mistakes. The food was poorly presented, without love. Huge quantity but the pasta was very oily. It’s a busy restaurant so the service is very robotic, no interaction at all with the servers barely replying or acknowledging your requests. We were expecting a more traditional Italian cuisine and service, which unfortunately didn’t happen. Need some updates and refresh a bit everywhere. It might be a great spot for a coffee, drink or a very quick lunch option. But don’t expect a real Italian food style.

Very bad experience

By Elena B |

We had dinner one evening during a family trip to Ny: terrible service, waiters standing at the counter without serving customers; we asked for a bottle of sparkling water and a beer which we had to ask for 4 times before they were brought to our table. The room where we were seated was noisy and the rest of the customers were rude and noisy, with no respect for the other diners. It's a shame because the food isn't bad at all. Not to return

Worst customer service experience ever

By Marie |

It is with a heavy heart that I compose this review about this independent, family-run restaurant. My intention is to share my experience in hopes that it may prevent others from encountering a similar situation and encourage improvements in their customer service. It was not acceptable. I made a last-minute reservation after seeing the positive ratings and seeking a good dining experience. Upon arrival, my family was left waiting for the table I had booked—though I didn’t mind that delay. Unfortunately, our server was rude, abrupt, and appeared frustrated, seemingly struggling to understand our British accents. He implied that we would consume all the pasta from my husband's plate, despite there being no intention of doing so. There was a noticeable lack of patience as he explained the menu options, and it was clear we were having difficulty grasping the choices presented. We each ordered a main dish, and while we were curious about sampling a small spoonful of the pasta, our waiter was adamant that we should not do so, firmly stating, "it is for you, not them." I understood his concern if we hadn’t ordered mains, but it felt misguided since we had. My husband also experienced a delay with his pasta, which was advertised as bottomless, and it took considerable time before it was eventually offered to him. Having dined at a wide range of establishments, both exemplary and disappointing, I can sincerely state that this experience ranks among the worst in terms of service I have ever encountered.

Good dining experience

Lovely pieces of seafood over soft polenta "Zuppe di pesce misto" Tasty salad of roasted red and golden beets with apples and goat cheese. All 4 people enjoyed their choices. Good service and reasonable prices.

Run away!

By Carl P |

The restaurant is a mad house. So noisy and packed. The waiters knocked into my chair at least a dozen times. Food was not great. Our host, a lead Broadway producer, didn’t tip on the wine but still left a tip-off over 20% for the food. Upon receiving the signed bill, the senior waited came to her and sad “what’s wrong! You didn’t like the service.” Never again! We will go back to Sicily Restaurant across the street where you have a conversation and receive courteous service and excellent food.

Terrible experience!!!

Terrible experience!!! Horrible service, rude waiter taking the menu out of people's hands, as soon as we finished dinner the bill came, we couldn't even order drinks!!!! I don't recommend this restaurant to anyone!!! Waiter Mr. Rose, very professional and unethical!!!

Excellent pasta, festive atmosphere, great service

By Paul P |

Becco was one of our best dinners in New York. The low ceilinged dining rooms make things feel intimate but festive. Service was great. The only pasta on the menu is an all you can eat deal. My wife was skeptical, thinking Olive Garden, so she ordered the lemon chicken which was excellent. Very juicy and flavorful. I did go for the endless pasta. There was a seafood linguini, a pesto spaghetti and pumpkin ravioli. I really didn’t care for the ravioli, but the linguini was excellent and I did have a second helping. We split cheesecake for dessert. This was a very memorable dinner and I would highly recommend Becco.

One visit is plenty.

By CLF422 |

This is a lively spot, 2 floors, equipped to turnaround for lunch. The food is barely average, however. Caesar salad ordinary. A fagiola soup had an odd sour taste, three spoonfuls enough. The "unlimited pasta" item is easy and $29, but not very good. Pumpkin ravioli had an odd taste and texture. Linguini with scallops was bland. A pappardel marinara was fine, but you've had that 100x already. Three small cannoli for dessert were excellent, crisp, freshly-filled w/ ricotta with a light hint of citrus. In short, this is passable but 1000 better spots in the area, would not return. One final observation: as soon as you walk in, you see a Michelin "tire guy" ceramic piece on the bar counter right in front. Wow, is this place a Michelin-star restaurant? I was told "no," the prior chef did not get a Michelin star and so they installed the Michelin man as a "joke." Really? In the context of entering a NYC Italian restaurant, do you think displaying a Michelin-man (of all things) is a little misleading? It's like a NYC lawyer having a dozen $10M+ verdicts listed on the wall in his reception area -- but none of them are his cases!

Very disappointing

By Giorgio S |

We booked on Saturday evening in the hope that Joe Bastianich could give us a break from the terrible New York foods, but it was exactly the opposite. We chose the infinity pasta menu which includes a Caesar salad made up of ice salad, garlic cream, croutons and very coarsely grated parmesan, alternatively an appetizer with fish is offered which includes courgettes, carrots, aubergines, half an octopus tentacle (for two people ) all strictly pickled. Difficult to eat it even for those who love it Carpione. Pasta: pappardelle with pesto, decent, Viola ravioli stuffed with pumpkin, also passable and penne with prawns, 3 minitails in a single dish, (tasting) the other two who chose this menu tasted overcooked penne with garlic and tomato, the The waiters and kitchen are 90% South American, the rest is Afro. 1 mozzarella in carrozza, one veal with tuna sauce and one mozzarella with turnip tops, 1 plate of meatballs. 5 adults and a 2 year old child $300, crazy!!! 1 bottle of bottled water is $9 but you can choose a free chlorine tap water or a glass of beer for $10, usually horrible coffee for $6 and final tip 10/18%. In short, if you don't want to leave a kidney, eat little.

Very busy restaurant

By Penelope015 |

Extremely busy restaurant. We had a reservation pre theatre & still had to wait for our table (they asked if we were going to theatre yet we still had to wait). They said wait in the bar but there is only a row of seats at a bar in a crammed busy area - all full so along with many others we stood squashed together to wait. The waiting on staff struggling to get through us. Our table was so close to the people on either side we heard everything they talked about even though it’s a noisy place. By the time we were seated we only had time for one course and one glass of wine. Unusual Italian in that the only pasta was the ‘all you can eat’ which you don’t get a choice as it’s three set dishes - so for example no veggie or vegan option offered - which we wouldn’t have time for anyway or a lasagna special. We got nice bread and hummus and some olives given on the table and the main courses included a Caesar salad starter (lettuce, Parmesan and toasted bread plus dressing) . The main course food was good - tasty as was the glass of wine. We had rush though & to get the bill and go! They didn’t add service charges as you decide. Long queue for the generic toilet. Massive queues for tables as we left.

Decent food but won't be returning

By rlee2000 |

My wife an I ate at Becco today for an early dinner after a matinee show. The service was very good, but the portions were small and expensive, and all of the tables are on top of each other. Not really interested in hearing the conversations of people 2 and 3 tables away. I had the Zuppa di Pesce Misto and my wife had the Veal Piccata. Both good, but with no drinks, appetizers, or dessert, the bill was $95 including tip. Won't be back.

Never again

By Rebecca B |

This place calls itself "Italian restaurant", but it has absolutely nothing Italian. None of the staff spoke Italian or seemed to understand the menu written in Italian, which is already a bad sign. The tables were very narrow, practically glued to each other, without any privacy. The tablecloth was dirty, with food residue visible when we arrived — a detail that alone would be enough to get us up and leave. The menu is a parody of Italian cuisine: dishes that mix different types of pasta in the same dish, mussels served completely cold, and a lasagna seen on the next table that was an insult to Italian culinary tradition. We ordered two starters and a bottle of water and paid $44. An absurd price for a disappointing experience in every respect. Unacceptable that this place calls itself Italian. It is shameful that our cuisine is portrayed in such a superficial and disrespectful way. I add that the pasta is served in an all you can eat way, all in the same dish.

Not up to Bastianich standards…

By FrShaunWesley |

I traveled to New York for three days for the primary purpose of seeing two Broadway musicals and to have as many great dining experiences as possible. Included in those dining experiences, of course, had to be a meal at a great Italian restaurant. I chose Becco for several reasons, the greatest of which was the reputation of Lidia Bastianich as the matriarch of New York Italian food, and of Joe Bastianich as the sharp tongued and very high standards judge of both Top Chef America and Italia. An additional reason was that Becco was listed as one of the best places for post theater dining, it was only a five minute walk from the theater I was attending, and I was able to get a reservation for 9:45 PM. When I walked in the door, I did not see a host/hostess, and was surprised when he popped up from the table behind me inside the door where he was seated dining with someone. This was his position for nearly the whole time I was present in the restaurant. He seated me at a table near the back of the main dining room, where there were a few other tables with guests. When my waitress brought me the menu a moment later, she informed me that I would need to place my food orders quickly because the kitchen would close at 10 o’clock. From this, I imagined that I was not going to be able to have a nicely paced relaxing meal… and this prophecy certainly fulfilled itself. One of the servers brought a small bowl of olives, a basket of focaccia, and what seemed to be a hummus olive oil spread. I do not care for olives, so I did not eat them. The focaccia was very dry and crusty, like it had been in the warmer too long, and both it and the spread were severely lacking salt. As I was trying the bread, and looking at the menu to quickly decide what I was going to order, I noticed the constant high-level of noise coming from the kitchen, scrubbing, slamming, slinging of pots and dishes, and lots of loud talking and laughter. Other customers noticed this noise as well, as I heard one of the tables next to me conversing about how loud it was. This noise continued during my whole time in the restaurant. It was also obvious that they were getting ready to close by the large number of employees hanging around the bar, conversing jovially, and the constant parade of them leaving out the front door, all shaking hands and fist bumping with each other as they were headed out. I had their signature Old Fashioned cocktail, which was fine. I also ordered the Calamari Fritti as an appetizer; it was also fine and a generous portion (as one would hope for $22), and the tomato sauce was good and quite spicy. The spice level was fine for me, but it would probably have been too spicy for many diners. In order to keep things easy on the kitchen, I ordered the two course prix-fixe special that had been recommended by the managerial type who brought me my cocktail. I chose the Caesar salad as the first course option, and the second course was the pasta trio that I had seen touted on the website: “Becco is most famous for its innovative pasta tasting menu & extensive $40 wine list.” As soon as I finished the calamari, my plate was swooped up, and the Caesar salad was delivered. Sadly, I have had better at many chain restaurants. The little dressing it had was completely lacking in flavor and the few croutons were nothing special. I had finished my cocktail while eating the calamari, but was not offered any further beverages. While I was eating the Caesar salad, I waved down my waitress to order a glass of Montepulciano d’Abruzzo. Once again, as soon as I finished my salad, the plate was swooped up, a larger plate was placed in front of me, and three waiters appeared with three large serving platters all full of pasta. They each put a decent serving of their pasta on my plate. Their “innovative” daily pasta special trio was spaghetti with tomato basil sauce, gemelli pasta with Bolognese sauce, and artichoke ravioli. Not very innovative, and also not very good. They were all overcooked pasta, and left pools of liquid on my plate. The artichoke ravioli was particularly disappointing, mushy and flavorless. The spaghetti and the gemelli were also neither one to bring any accolades to the Bastianich empire. My waitress brought me the dessert menu. Since it was obvious they were all ready to go, I ordered the Torta di Zabaglione e Cioccolato to go, and asked for a plastic fork so I could eat it in my hotel room. She said they did not have plastic utensils, but that she could give me a real fork to take with my to go dessert. I ate the dessert while writing this review. As with everything else, it was really nothing special, a mildly chocolatey gelatinous wedge with amarena cherries right out of the jar. In summary, I have the following suggestions. If a restaurant is going to be listed as post theater dining, and they are going to take reservations up until 9:45pm, they need to continue with full service hospitality while serving those patrons, rather than making it noisily obvious they are shutting down. Also, with its 30 year history and the Bastianich reputation, Becco certainly needs to revisit the attention to detail in the preparation and taste of their food. If I make future trips to New York, I will likely choose another of the many options for fine Italian dining… But at least I have a nice stainless steel Oneida fork as a memento of my experience at Becco!

Excellent food and service for a pre-Broadway dinner

By Nicole d |

Our family of four enjoyed a delicious meal at Becco. We were warmly welcomed and our waiter was attentive and kind. He immediately asked if we were attending a Broadway show and the start time of the show. Perfect! He knew our timing. Two of us had the three pasta dinner with Caesar salad for $34.95 pp and the others had salmon and chicken with mushroom risotto. The meals were all delicious, as was the coffee and apple strudel for dessert. Side note (looking at the 1 and 2 star reviews): Yes, it is a busy restaurant, but that's no surprise given its excellent location. So it can be noisy at times, but we did not feel packed in, nor did we feel like a number. We were made to feel very welcome and it ensured that our night out was a fun one!

Great food and experience

By minnesotans4 |

Becco’s is a very popular restaurant so reservations are highly recommended. We were a party of six with most of us ordering the unlimited 3 pasta special for $30 which included a salad. Each of the pastas were flavorful and delicious. Our server was very attentive and made sure to serve us more pasta throughout the meal. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his lentil soup and an entree of meatballs. There were $35 bottles of wine to choose from and the one we chose was very good. We have eaten at many restaurants in NYC and this one will be added as one of our favorites.

Not a Great Lunch

By jchegia411 |

Visited Becco for lunch based on favorable online reviews. Arrived just at opening (2pm) for lunch and were immediately seated. The staff was friendly and cordial. The lunch menu wasn’t very extensive - only about six pastas to choose from. About equal number of appetizers. We had the arancini - small and dry. The two pasta dishes were rather bland. Disappointing since there so many restaurant choice in North End. Felt we made a poor choice.

Not worthy of the name

By Ste |

It is cramped, warm and above all not authentic Italian food. Amaro del capo is served warm. Lasagne has a lot of prezzemolo, the service is not the kind of service you would expect from a Bastanitch restaurant. So basically - yes, the food was OK - large portions, really big but better small but nice

Unpleasant experience

By Sognatrice12 |

We had dinner in this restaurant which has very little that is Italian. The "all you want" pasta was tasteless and even the acidic sauce had a quality. The staff wanted to cheat us because the receipt said "tip included" but when paying the waiter told us that the tip was not included and they were obliged to leave a percentage. Be warned, it's clearly a tourist trap.

Bad Service and Just OK Food

By DoubleG |

Very disappointed in the service and food - not what I expect or have experienced in the past. I was embarrassed to have recommended this place to my friends after the experience we had. I will not be back and there much better dining choices in NYC. This place is for tourists who don’t know better.

Terrible experience

By Alyssa H |

Awful service. Argued with us when we had a problem with drinks and reluctant to change them. Dropped spaghetti in the drinks when serving and did t acknowledge even though they saw. very poor quality pasta for an Italian. Very disappointing

Disappointing

By Tafer64 |

I'm bewildered... I expected to eat well (not exceptional but at least well), we had 2 mozzarella in the carriage and 2 plates of spaghetti with tomato sauce, the mozzarella toppings were disappointing to say the least (the pesto tasted of everything but pesto) and the spaghetti inedible! Hot and too salty to the point of not even feeling the taste of garlic that was ultra abundant... in my personal opinion to avoid!

Good food, bad service

By Theil13 |

Food was good and the prices were reasonable but the service was lousy. Our waiter had an attitude that made everyone uncomfortable. He seemed more interested in talking to his other waiter friends than he did waiting on our table. We were in NYC for three days, and everyone said that this was the low point of our trip.

Italian trattoria in New York cuty

By Maygo2007 |

The service is really friendly and the restaurant looks like an Italian trattoria. The pasta of the day is a sure choice of 3 different pasta. You can have more if you have a good appetite. The atmosphere is lovely and the clients seem to be regulars, which is always a good sign.

Da evitare assolutamente, nulla che ricordi l'italia

By Anna D |

We went to this restaurant for dinner during our honeymoon, we were hoping to finally eat a plate of Italian pasta but there wasn't even an Italian waiter, a trio of first courses served on a single plate where each taste mixed with the 'other, appetizer that seemed to be anything but an appetizer, very high prices and not at all in keeping with what they served... Bad experience, if I could go back it's the only place I would avoid. I don't recommend it at all.

Dinner on December 24 excellent after a week of eating American we remembered to be Italian. I recommend it to all Italians on holiday for the goodness and value for money pasta at will with only $29 free water but you want more from life

Sadness

By A & A |

What to say, I went with my family to dinner in this restaurant on the evening of the Thanksgiving holiday booking from Italy with great expectations. Both the food and the presentation of the dishes were not worthy of the worst set menu trattoria for workers in Italy I am sorry to have thrown away the money I spent in this restaurant

Small, fine in the theatre district

By MartinHBE |

Not far from our hotel on a street lined with restaurants, it was spoilt for choice. The choice was good, the food excellent. For example, my Osso Bucco of a size we can only dream of in Switzerland. Buttery, fantastic. Highly recommended.

Poor Italian restaurant

By Andreea S |

Crowded touristic restaurant, you can’t call this Italian. The owner who is a food critic, should first look at his own. The first and main came all together. Pasta overcooked, and full of sauce.. the meat was good.

HOLIDAY IN NEW YORK... WITH THE "KING" OF SALSA AT THE YANKEE STADIUM!!!

We ordered the pasta symphony... good, excellent cooking, good flavours.... Well... in the service we need more calm and precision...

Dinner in New York

By DIEGO F |

Great place for a family evening. We had a great time. There were a lot of people but they reserved a corner all for us. Thank you.

It is NOT Italian cuisine.

By Carlo_Adelina |

Enticed by the fame of the owner and his forays into Master Chef Italia, we booked at Becco. We were aware that we would not eat Italian. The level, however, remains low and below our expectations. The trio of pasta was overcooked (American style, perhaps). Their Ricottina (a revisited cheesecake) was good, as was the espresso. Very friendly and fast service.

Cool experience

By Alessandro R |

The food was very good...We had starter main course..Everything delicious from salad to pasta. Atmosphere was very nice, a bit too loud whom anyone would like to have it quieter.

Delightful pretheater lunch

By Su |

We had a lovely pretheater lunch at Becco on Restaurant Row in NYC. It was a beautiful sunny day so we sat outside at one of the two tables with a view of W 46th St. My companion ordered their specialty, unlimited table side service of the chef's three daily pasta preparations. My carpaccio was as pretty as it was delicious. Highly recommend for a short walk to your matinee.

Great food. Excellent value. Nice atmosphere

By Amanda B |

The food was great. I had Bistecca something or other (steak) and it was perfect! My husband had the pasta trio and we shared a bottle of wine. Everything was wonderful and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill. Lol. Only “complaint” is the very small table.

Outstanding dinner

By JBfromNPNY |

I’m not sure if this is Michelin rated restaurant, but it should be. In short, great Italian meal, great steak grilled perfectly. Fantastic wine list. Service was superb. It is not cheap, and you’ll pay NYC prices for an excellent. A bottle of wine, cocktails, dinner and desert for two couples, expect to pay $400. The only available reservation time was 4:15 on a Saturday, and we booked about a week in advance.

Never again from BECCO

By Ripy P |

We had dinner with friends, very negative experience aaaaa, 2 courses more than 50$ , we were not allowed even half a glass of wine more (we were 22 paying people the request was from 2 members of the group) ordered 2 simple grilled steaks, arrived 2 burnt cuts and full of pieces of I do not know which vegetable without talking about the arrogance and incompetence of the grumpy waiters.... definitely OUTTTTTTTTTTTT

7 Visits to New York, 8 Visits to Becco

By Zalmo |

We've been to the city 7 times and to Becco 8. Need I say more? Please note, if you get the Sinfonia de Pasta and need a refill ask ANY waiter to alert the correct pasta server and they'll show up. I've never ordered anything else, until visit 8 when I went in for the hangar steak, it was delectable and I shared some with the table, they all thought it was very tasty.

Highly recommended, highly disappointed

By Jennifer G |

Sauce was flavorless, almost watered down. Servers and food runners were nice enough yet I felt like the entire staff was focused on getting customers in and out. The focus in this restaurant is revenue rather than the customer experience.

A horrible experience.

By S D |

My experience at Becco was one of the worst I have ever had in a restaurant. My daughter and I went for dinner there on Oct. 24. I ordered the unlimited pasta meal which was fine, my daughter ordered “Joe’s Veal Chop” and asked that it be cooked medium. When the chop arrived at our table it had been very over cooked… well-done through and through. The woman who was the house manager that night stopped by to ask how the food was. When I told her that my daughters meal was improperly cooked (she had not taken a bite yet, just cut into it) the manager said she would show it to Chef and see what he said. She came back a minute later, chop in hand and said “yes, chef agrees that it’s overcooked, but this is something that we can’t just make another one for you. We’ll take ten bucks off the bill and give you a free dessert.” And she set the plate back in front of my daughter. My daughter, who is young didn’t want me to argue or create any conflict. So she forced herself to eat 4 bites. When I did complain a last time as I was paying the bill, the manager said “well, it looks like she ate some of it, and she ate the potatoes, so there isn’t anything more we can do for you”. I know our terrible experience is in large part my own fault for not just telling the manager to take away the overcooked meal, and let my daughter order something else. However I am appalled that this is a restaurant that will send a meal that they KNOW is wrong, back out to the customer and tell them to just eat it.

Fabulous food in a very busy NY restaurant

By milkyway01 |

It’s loud (very), busy (very, very) and you are crammed in like sardines….but so what when the the food is this amazing. We had the Sinfonia di Pasta and the lasagne (special). Both options came with a Caesar salad included in the price. Portion sizes enormous and definitely the best lasagne I have ever tasted. And the $40 wine list…what a welcome relief. I am so very glad we went hungry. A proper NY Italian. We loved it, and thoroughly recommend.

Wonderful lunch in New York

By ManuelPede1980 |

We try Becco Restaurant for lunch, we ‘re very satisfied, very good place, and very good food, a lot of food! The portions are generous! The right choice for a quality dinner or lunch

Very bad

By Rosamaria F |

I gave a little ball because less you can not we stayed in this restaurant for dinner in two families in June, to call it an Italian restaurant is a blasphemy starting from the staff, who courtesy had nothing, to follow the dishes that say the choice of their appetizer seemed a mapzzone removed from the jars of pickles and thrown on the plate, we chose the trio of first courses that could be at will, but we could not even finish the first pass given their goodness, we thought of drinking to finish a drop of limoncello at the modest price of. 15 dollars .... the final surprise was the bill for the modest amount of 429, dollars .. for the dinner served a real thief ... in conclusion it would have been better to opt for a fast food .... Becco restaurant if I were to return to New York do not catch me anymore ....

Really good food with good wine @ $45/bottle

By Skelly804 |

Really good italian meal, excellent service and wine for only $45/bottle! Hard to find a better value in NYC. Quiet atmospher which is good, because they have tight seating.

Good but not great or outstanding meal...

By Rhino2525 |

My wife and I were in NYC for a few nights before a cruise and staying in mid-town Manhattan. Our friends that live in NJ told us about this restaurant as it is there favorite Italian restaurant in the city so w got reservations for a Saturday night dinner. We arrived and the restaurant was hoping - we had to wait about 10 minutes before seated. They maximize space so we were seated about 2 feet from 2 adjacent tables at a two-top. Bread & breadsticks and olives were brought to the table gratis. Our server took our drink orders and my we got a bottle of wine from the $35 Bottle of Wine list which is a good deal if you plan to have more than 1 round of drinks. We looked over the extensive menu. We were looking it over and the server came back three times in the span of about 5 minutes as was clearly trying to move us along in the process I guess to maximize table turnover in an evening. I ordered the Chicken Parmigiana with the add-on Sinfonia Di Paste for $11 as a mid-course between the first course of a classic Caesar and the entree. This is an unlimited table-side service of three different pastas chosen for the day. My wife ordered the special of the day of Veal in a sauce with capers. She didn't get the pasta add-on as she thought it would be too much. We both enjoyed the food and shared each other's entrees. We liked the veal more than the chicken as we thought the tomato sauce for the Chicken parmigiana was just okay. The salads were good and I enjoyed the table-side pasta. Our bill was $150ish before tip. I rated three stars instead of four because of a couple reasons. First, we thought the service was just okay and didn't like feeling rushed when it took us five minutes to decide. Second, the ambiance is very average. As I mentioned, we were literally on top of the two adjacent tables and our table was positioned right next to the server access area so servers were swarming by us the entire meal. With so many people close together, it was very LOUD so don't plan on trying to have much of a conversation. The pasta deal was good and also the $35 Bottle Wine list that was pretty good wine. It was a good meal but I am sure that there are lots of other Italian restaurants on par or better than this one so I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there again.

Nothing exceptional.

By IBaresiaBergamo |

I celebrated my 40th birthday here with my family believing I would find a somewhat private environment, but in reality it is a sort of two-storey trattoria, with very little space between the tables (all different and poorly maintained). The menu offering is not very wide, especially as regards the first courses. They offer the fixed PASTA SYNFONIA menu, but it consists of three first courses chosen by the chef. We chose the grilled beef steak... Very good and well cooked meat with a side of Cesar salad and a bed of polenta; my son was offered a plate of tagliolini with tomato, however the sauce was very peppery, therefore inedible for a 7 year old child. For dessert we tried the Sicilian cannoli (according to them)... stuffed with lemon ricotta (and here I stop). Therefore, two second courses, a first course, a dessert, two waters and a Coca Cola...156$ (tips included); on average for a dinner in New York. Would I go back? No. I advise? No. Probably all due to very high expectations.

Becco Disappoints . . .

By Climber42296788944 |

while the service was pretty good at Becco tonight, unfortunately that was the best part of the evening. Despite the crowded atmosphere with the apparent Broadway show crowds . . . the appetizers were merely “OK” with the meatballs, fried calamari coming across as “blah“ . . . decent flavor but nothing unique or particularly special or unique. calamari was soggy (not crispy), the Caesar salad - which accompanies all main dish orders - was pretty good at a 7/10 in my view but it was the main course that truly disappointed both my wife and I. Her beal chop was undercooked with quite bland flavor . . . and my chicken parmagiano was dry, a bit “too crispy” (which I am not used to with classic chicken parm), and simply didn’t have much flavor. Hard to say this but I want to be candid … the chicken at my local pizzeria HS better by a mile. And my local one doesn’t cost $28, and it comes with a choice of pasta (no pasta side comes with chicken parkm or most main dishes). sadly overall it’s a 3/10 for my wife and I. That is 100% true and my experience as someone who was raised in a 1/2 Italian household

Really good

By Cil_uu |

Let's start with the service, which is really very good. The place is nice and you eat very well at prices more than acceptable for New York. Excellent pasta.

For mass tourism

By Fabio R |

I booked this "Italian sounding" venue through a site that is widely used in New York. As soon as we entered we were not greeted, when a waiter noticed us he took us to the manager who assigned the tables. We immediately had an unpleasant impression of rush and tension among the staff. Then we realized that the service in the room was insufficient for all the people who were there. Food doesn't count, I don't even comment on it. The first thing in catering is welcoming the GUEST. If this is missing, everything else is just cold merchandise.

Very disappointed

By SteveG |

Very disappointed. My wife and I were on a trip to New York for three days.My wife enjoyed Lydia on TV and wanted to try her restaurant. Both our appetizers were nice not spectacular. She had grilled shrimp and I had the tuna tartare. We both had Caesar salad’s but we noticed that other people in the restaurant had cheese on their Caesar salad but ours were was omitted for some reason. no big deal. I ordered the lamb chops my wife ordered the salmon with roasted brussels sprouts. My lamb chops were extremely fatty and tasteless and my wifes salmon was on a bed of burnt brussels sprouts. No exaggeration they were black .I did complain about my lamb chops and the chef did come and explain that they like to keep the fat on because it helps with the flavor I would disagree. We had a couple of drinks each. The bill was close to $200 .The chef was kind enough to reduce my lamb chops by half Next time we’re in New York will give it a miss. The The service was attentive without being over bearing.

Craving for pasta in New York

By alex |

The worst pasta experience abroad ever. Apart from the service not exactly up to the standards of a restaurant... Yet ownership should be a guarantee of Italianness' Disproportionate cost compared to the quality It seems more like American cuisine than Italian. You have to know how to make pasta!!!!

Plenty of Great Food /Better Service Elsewhere .... Becco is sliding down

By m2cardwell |

Ever heard the expression a first impression is a lasting impression? Well on our recent visit this past Thursday Eve 5/4/23 that first impression was a terrible one. This wasn't our first visit to Becco, we've been several times and try to go everytime we are in NYC. We had made a reservation for 5 over a month out. The reservation was made for 9:45 pm. We arrived on time and upon entering we were greeted by a gentleman that promptly said, 'Ummmm our Kitchen closes promptly at 10. We are closed for tonight. I looked very surprised by this, both by the fact that they gladly made the reservation for 9:45 and someone from Becco had called my phone earlier in the day asking if we had anyone in our party of 5 with any Disability as they might sit our party upstairs. We were made to feel VERY Unwelcome on this visit, Sorry Becco, no way to run a food establishment. Too many other great places to eat in the Theatre District. I'm always hesitant to leave a negative review, but Becco earned this one. Look elsewhere to eat, you'll be glad you did.

Bad experience.

By Roque |

There were seven of us friends passing in front of the restaurant, a waiter asked us to come in. To our surprise, we had five minutes to choose dinner because the kitchen was closing. A waiter named Rose came to serve us in a very ROUGH way, speaking quickly and dryly. The dish options are super expensive. I couldn't share the dish between two people. They weren't friendly at all. We went to the place to have a nice dinner with friends, the experience was terrible. I don't recommend this place.

Overrated

By Raf48 |

Pleasant location, set theme menu with three first courses and appetizer of your choice as well as a dessert. The appetizer was a mixture of unidentified vegetables and, according to the waiter, grilled, the first all satisfactory although you can not sell a spaghetti with pesto where the pesto are chopped green beans and basil leaves. Account from New York

Good place for Italian food

By Marsha S |

Went for an early dinner. We were seated upstairs which was really cute. Everything was good - appetizers, pasta, daily specials. Really good service. They get crowded so I would recommend a reservation.

Food poisoning / inedible food

By Stephen B |

We were given some very fatty and poor cuts of lamb as part of the Easter set menu. The lamb was cold and very bloody. Within a couple of hours of eating it, I was throwing up violently. The starter of raw vegetables was abysmal - it was literally just a few broccoli and cauliflower florets cut up with no seasoning. Nothing had been done to it - no marinade etc. The vegetables were not edible

Superlative!!

By SaraG |

Absolutely worth going there!!! We ordered Joe from the menu, and our expectations were absolutely not disappointed!! Excellent pasta, delicious salmon and delicious cheesecake. Generous portions. Super friendly, fast and attentive staff!! 10 and praise!!!

Disappointing food and service!

By vakamalua |

We were there on a Friday evening for pre-theater dinner. On restaurant row, it's split into two sections. Unfortunately, we were on the side where the temperature was very hot; I only realized it when I noticed that the side with the restrooms was 10 degrees cooler. The heat definitely affected our moods. The service was lackluster & inattentive. The Caesar Salad served with the entrees was very good. Oddly for an Italian restaurants, the pasta dishes were all served in trios of different pastas which was too much pasta for us. My partner had the Short Ribs with Spaetzle; thought the ribs were tender but the sauce was somewhat bitter. I had the Chicken Al Forno--it was very dry & the accompanying risotto was a bit cold that became a semi-solid lump with no taste. Overall, not a place we'd recommend.

Very noisy and terrible service

By July S |

Well, the food was ok( nothing special as we are from italy). We absolutely did not like the way the waiter served us. At first he told us in an unfriendly manner what was on the menu, when we asked a clarifying question, he rolled his eyes and raised his voice and answered in a rude manner. We ordered a bottle of wine and they brought us a decanter with wine already poured. in Italy they bring a bottle of wine and open it in front of you, naturally. despite the fact that the wine cost 80 dollars. in general, service is 3 out of 10.

The food and service was excellent. Our reservation was honored within 15 minutes as the restaurant was extremely crowded with theater going patterns.

Solid meal in a good location.

By NcGhiagirl |

We have been here many times. It is very good and a great value. We always get the 3 pasta meal. This time it was good, not great. Antipasto delicious as was the ew bread from Joe. Nice upgrade from breadsticks. $40 bottle of wine a steal. Still a solid choice fro the theatre district.

Pedestrian at best

By Carl S |

We enjoy watching cooking shows on TV and then going to the chef’s restaurants. We had wonderful meals at the restaurants of Thomas Keller (Per Se), Johnathan Waxman (Jams), David Burke (Tavern), Tom Colicchio (Craft), Gordon Ramsey (his Chelsea Flagship) and others. Like any other art, food reflects the soul of the chef. It’s a distillation of their life experiences and technical expertise. In a successful restaurant you should have the feeling you are sitting down in the kitchen of the chef, and they are sharing their love of food with you. We had high hopes for Becco. The Bastianich family are legends in the culinary world. On Master Chef, Joe Bastianich demands perfection, and we were expecting the same at his restaurant. Instead, we got mediocrity. Our pasta trio was bland with overcooked broccoli and shrimp. The Ceasar Salad, although tasty, had a “crouton” the size of a NYC pothole. Our Zuppa Di Pesce Misto was forgettable with overcooked shrimp. The sorbet trio had some rather large unpleasant chunks of ice in it. The Bistecca Di Manzo Griglia was good with the hanger steak prepared rare as requested. Apart from the food, the patrons are packed in like sardines in a noisy, very busy restaurant. Instead of being able to relax, we are given strict time limits for our stay. We even witnessed the staff moving several very large tables in and out of a storage area with patrons ducking for safety. It seems the Bastianishs goal is to squeeze as much money as possible out of this place by packing them in, turning the tables, and skimping on quality and execution. Overall, the food was pedestrian at best, and not worth the time.

Great food and ambiance

By Cann F |

Very good restaurant. Beer braised pork with garlic mashed potatoes was great! Service very good. Ambiance nice! Appetizers looked great!

Sadly Disappointed

By Annalise F |

I was slightly disappointed by my experience at Becco. We had a reservation for our party of 6. After being seated, our waiter asked us if we were going to a show and what time it started. We said yes and gave him the time, assuming that he would keep us on track with our food to arrive at the theater early (because why else would he ask?). 5 of us ordered the Sinfonia di Pasta and we waited over an hour to receive our first round of pasta! We watched a couple of tables be seated, eat, and leave while we were still there. We started getting worried as it kept getting closer and closer to time for us to leave. If your waiter asks if you’re seeing a show, maybe it’s a good idea to tell them an earlier time than when your show actually is. Or, maybe they intentionally serve this way so you don’t have enough time to truly enjoy the unlimited pasta. Despite the timing issue, our waiter was kind and the pasta was delicious. We were even seated in the cutest little nook that was semi private to the rest of the restaurant. Overall, I think I’d try a different italian spot before returning to Becco.

Dinner after a show

By distewave |

My sister and I had dinner here after a show in the city. The restaurant was not busy when we went but they were changing from lunch to dinner so we had to wait until 4pm when dinner started, which was about a half hour. No sure why we couldn't be seated since there were tables available, I guess to charge more since dinner menu prices are higher. We were at a table for 2, which was a small table with a chair on one side, the other seat was bench seating. The ambiance was cozy. The tables were so close the person in the bench seat would need to move the table slightly to get out. We were seated next to a very friendly couple who we, as it seemed, had dinner with. I ordered the unlimited three pasta meal. The food was plentiful and delicious. The staff were not overly friendly but attentive. I would recommend this restaurant if you are in NYC and want a good authentic Italian meal.

Great Dinner, Cozy Atmosphere, Excellent Service

By Cheaky44 |

Excellent food and great service. Since we were heading to a show, they seated us in a separate room, which was a thoughtful way to help keep us on schedule. Service was fast and efficient — it can feel a bit quick, but we appreciated it so we could make it to the show on time. The pace didn’t take away from the experience at all. Everything was delicious, and we’ll definitely be back the next time we’re seeing a show in the area.

Famous Hells Kitchen Landmark Italian

By Thomas V |

So we had dinner on a Saturday evening prime time , so as one would expect , the restaurant was very busy . We were seated promptly , and quickly brought the bread , olive oil and olive spread . Having not dined in the city for a while , I forgot how closely seated everybody is , so that would be an adjustment for those not used to it . The bread was fine , but surprisingly we were not impressed with the olive oil. Salads were disappointing , didn’t seem fresh as it was a bit soggy . Mussels were small , but the sauce was nice and zesty . My wife enjoyed her salmon , and I was overwhelmed by the Osso Becco , easily the largest serving I have ever had and it was quite good . We had a nice reasonably priced red wine from Puglia so the main courses were great . No room for dessert but my espresso was very good . All in all , mostly a good experience

I expected much better

By ValerioBe |

First time, I expected much better. Service ok and quite quick. We don't have food. I took the specialty trio of pasta, despite the convenient formula that allows you to taste at will, the taste of the pasta was very questionable especially due to the quality of the condiments.

Stuck in the cold

By Darren |

Attended on 24/02/2023 to be shown to a table on the balcony, although enclosed, it was very cold and another diner at another table complained about the cold and the food. We were asked if we wanted to move inside, which we did, and were shown to another very cramped table , at least it was warmer. Our food then arrived which was bland to say the least and expensive for what it was. Sadly a forgettable food experience in the city. To be even the manager knocked some money off the bill and gave us a complimentary dessert after recognising the issues.
