We had just gotten into town and needed lunch. My buddy was looking for a brewpub, so we found this nearby. Pretty unassuming atmosphere but pleasant nonetheless. They had a good selection of beers on tap and in bottles. The food was well prepared and tasty. Good place to enjoy some suds!

A few hours after arriving in NYC, we grabbed lunch and drinks in Hells Kitchen. I decided it would be nice to find a neighborhood bar to visit. After some yelping, Beer Culture came to the forefront, as it was highly rated and nearby. When we arrived, it was obvious this place was a cool find. We approached the bar and asked about selections. The female bartender pointed at their list and said "this is what we have". Gee, thanks! Call me stupid, but I thought she might offer some suggestions after she took the time to ask about our preferences. At any other bar, that's typically the socially accepted manner of initial conversation between bartender and customer. Aside from this annoying gesture, she added further insult when she slammed the receipt down and announced the total due. Again, at any other bar, I've been served the drink first and then the bill nonchalantly arrives after. Perhaps this place just operates differently than to what I'm used. Or perhaps the woman behind the counter has no business serving customers? In any event, I would not return to this place solely due to her.

My husband and I stopped in here before we were going to see an early show. The place was pretty busy with only a couple chairs open at the bar. There are larger tables scattered throughout the place as well for larger groups. Their tap list was filled with different choices (not just IPA's) and they had a bunch of coolers filled with bottles you could also bring to the bar and have the bartender open. The bartender was friendly and came right over. We ordered the chips and salsa and an order of tater tots to snack on and both were great. We would have stayed here longer if we didn't have to get to the show. It was a relaxed, cool place to hang out.

Went to Beer Culture last night. Its a great local place to stop in and get a quick beer while walking around the city. Bar staff is nice and friendly. Beer selection is good. This place is set up as and reminds me of hanging out in a friends basement just having a few beers. I highly recommend it.

being Australian I like my beers. This place had a wide range of beers. Atmosphere was great as was the service. Also very close to broadway shows so good place to visit before hand.

Come for the beer - stay for the food. Insane selection of craft beers from around the world to choose from and a kitchen serving up a limited, albeit delicious selection of foods.

This is a little place with a great beer selection and wonderful wings. If you want something off the beaten path this is great!

This used to be my favorite place to have a beer in NYC but man this was a wierd experience. We arrived at opening and there were people drinking at the bar. The bartender made a big deal about not being ready. My wife has a convenient ID/Vaccine flip card. He insisted on her pulling out her vaccine card so he could see it beside the ID but mine in the app could not be seen side by side and he was OK. Seemed like a power over a woman thing. Then we had to listen throughout our stay as he bragged on about himself.

This bar seems to be having an identity crisis, it doesn't know whether it wants to be a sports bar, dance club or gastro pub. When we walked in, the bouncer at the front door and the atmosphere with a house DJ blaring music made me feel like I was in a club and almost left because all I really wanted was a good meal. As we went upstairs, the atmosphere is split between sports bar and pub, with the DJ's music so loud you can't have a conversation. The selection of beers is great and leaves something for everyone to try, but a tad over-priced. The food menu would be considered standard pub fare with tendency towards gastropub preparation and presentation. Unfortunately, most of the food fell onto the perfectly average line. The gyro burger was very good, with a few other things a little below average. I would really enjoy this place to go out with a group of friends for some socializing as long as the DJ was not playing his music, and would partake in food if I was hungry and be satisfied, but never go back to this restaurant with food as the primary goal.

What a treat this bar is! The atmosphere, beer and staff are amazing. This is the second time in 5 years visiting NYC and have been here every night this week and thoroughly enjoyed it, highly recommend

Found this little place on the way to see Hamilton! Very friendly bartender. Good prices! Not sure about food, but lots of beer selections!

We stopped into the Beer Culture to have a pint and a snack before going off to see Kinky Boots.. Staff was great beer great, try it if you are close by.

We stopped here after a show and it was one of the great highlights of our trip. The beer was great, the food was amazing, and the vibe was awesome. The small place was bustling and it didn’t feel like you were in NYC and felt like you were at a “small town bar.”

Absolutely horrible experience. I spend a lot of Saturdays with my family in NYC trying out different spots for food and drink. Last weekend we tried beer culture based on the overall positive reviews. We just wanted to ask a question to the folks behind the bar and they were so rude and unfriendly that we simply walked out. I almost felt insulted on how we were treated before even we could try their beer. I wouldn't recommend this place at all

This place will welcome you through good beer and a comfortable atmosphere to drink it in. Good music and good people. The plethora of beer will grace your eyes, your beer-drinking creativity, and your palette. You need to go there. Cheers!

Finally a place with a decent selection of ciders. Yeah, a bit of a joke in the wall local bar vibe but just off Times Square and decent prices. Fine, not a huge selection of ciders but best I found so far in NYC and not the sugar sweet garbage that seems to mostly what you can find in stores. One dry cider on tap then they have a bar fridge with another 8 or so different varieties in cans. Can’t remember any names but the couple dry ones au tasted were enjoyable. Good way to taste some NY craft ciders if you feel like a break from beer. Had the nachos which were generously covered in toppings.

Went here for the beer selection. Highly recommend if you are a craft beer lover. A few blocks from the busy streets!

Nothing special but they do have lots of taps, so good selection of beers. YOu can drink beer out of a glass boot, not sure why, but you can. Service early was helpful but if it gets crowded this place would be a mess.

Folks who like real beer need to go here. The folks behind the bar know their stuff. The draft selection is not huge but well chosen and rotating. My favorite part is that instead of looking at a menu or over the bar the cans and bottles available are there for the drinker to read and explore prior to choosing and bringing to the bartender to buy. True beer snobs enjoy that experience. Oh, they only have Beer and Whiskey here.

Forget the have the snacks. They are fantastic. Yes micro brews are nice little over priced but it is In Manhattan. But the snacks are fantastic. Order take out or catering for a party that's how good they are

Great find with wide selection of changing craft beers including Belgian picks. Matt the owner and the ever reliable Robert are great accommodating hosts. It’s a NYC must if you are in the area!!

We stumbled across this wonderful spot while on our way elsewhere, sadly it hadn't come up on our googling efforts and we nearly missed out. We entered for the beer (walls of beer fridges filled with an excellent selection), but we stayed for the chat - with both the great staff and the lovely locals (a rare experience for us in NY) - loved this place! Great beer experience!

After a weekend of limited options in Manhattan irish pubs was extremely pleased to find this emporium right next to al,hirshfield theater i was attending kinky boots musical at. 10 taps that allow growler fills and 2 coolers of rare cans, and bottles you can,sip onsite or purchase to take out....chill atmosphere with fusion music and lowkey servers. Small food menu nothing to write home about but good nontheless (pretzels, meat n cheese boards, etc). Not loud at,all welcome respite from times Square and nfl playoffs on all bar tvs . Had all sierra, nevada and lagunitas flavors even a rare kellerweiss in winter. Tons of pints a real, gem in an,area of limited beer choices

Large selection of beers; around 10 on tap and over a hundred in bottles/cans. Knowledgeable staff and very friendly.

Nice place with a very large selection of beers to choose from, lots on tap and hundreds of bottles. Good food and good vibes as well.

All eight beers on tap were excellent craft beers. Great whiskey selection including high end. Had a great bottle selection on the shelves, but unfortunately the place was so dimly lit I couldn't read the labels, so I decided not to waste my time and didn't purchase any. A nice pit stop while visiting Manhattan.

This was a pleasant suprise to find in our first visit of NYC. Great beer selection, cool people, and good bar tenders.

Great, knowledgeable bartenders who can set you up with a beer you will definitely enjoy! Amazing service and a large selection of beer on tap, in bottles, and cans. Only hard liquor they have is whiskey.

Friendly staff and great atmosphere. An incredible selection of random beers. Shame there isn't a huge amount of room, but we managed to get seats in the end.

Few steps from New York most crowdy area there is a place where culture, passion and professionalism meet each other. A dashboard for drought and cask beers, a long list of bottled ones, two guys available anytime for a good advice and last but not least great music from vinyl.

For any beer drinker this bar is like going into a sweet shop for a chocolate lover ! You could visit every day for two years and not have every beer. The service is helpful and so welcoming ! We had the Central Waters Porter and the Ithaca Green Trail IPA. Cannot wait to visit again !

Hip place. Cool vibe. Great and unique beer selection. Five Burrough’s Green Pow Pow Double IPA on tap. Outstanding.

Very cozy and comfortable atmosphere at beer culture. My friends and I had great beer and enjoyed some pretzels, pickled veggies, and a cheese plate (I think). All were delicious. The service was super friendly and attentive. All in all I would definitely come back next time I’m in the neighborhood.

great pub near Times Square. One cask ale (no CO2 added) plus loads on tap (with CO2). Try the flights; selection of 4 taster glasses of different beers. Ask friendly barman to choose for you.

Stopped in here for a couple of pints on a Saturday night. An intimate space with a pretty decent beer list (12-15 taps maybe), and a nice bottle selection. It can get a little tight in this place when it gets busy, but a pretty mellow crowd. Bartenders are quick and not d-bags (I hate bars like that). I like the vibe of this place.

Brilliant selection of quality beers. The Oktoberfest beer was great. Unassuming and simple place that is all about the beer.

Really nice place and really good selection of beers. However can't understand why this is the TripAdvisor #1 pub in NYC. Really friendly and quick service also.

I am in NYC for a trade show and have my IPA lovin gal along and my first check on trip advisor for pubs was Beer Culture. It was 2 blocks away so we hit it. It is a nice clean little bar - with a tremendous selection of beer. 9 beers from Stone and 6 Beers from Sierra Nevada. 12 taps as well. I cant speak for the food, but this is an ideal spot to get your night started if you are a beer lover.

This is just a great casual bar with a great variety of regional craft beers on tap, a display full of cans and bottles, and a “Grandpaw Fridge” for those that just want a good old can of Schitz. Friendly beer tender gave great advice on our draft selections. We went on a Sunday afternoon and it was nice and relaxed, not super busy. We were able to sit down and have a conversation.

A great pre dinner bar, rather than eatery, in this great restaurant area. It is just what the area has been needin. Good selection of beers and good service and advice from Peter, who knows his stuff. I was there late at night having just flown in, so not suprising no one was eating, but good atmosphere.

We went here to grab a bite and have a beer. Even though the menu was not what we were looking for, we stayed and drank beer. That is what I do.... Great cozy atmosphere that invites you to stay and enjoy. Great bartenders great conversations.

We stumbled on this great little bar walking from Times Square to our restaurant. We came back after dinner and had a couple pints of craft and local beers. There's a huge selection of bottles, and probably 10-12 taps. Try the BC1 - it's a hoppy farmhouse you can only get at Beer Culture. Service was great, too!

We ate lunch here about 2:00 on the Friday the Pope was in town. It was very quiet inside, but I am sure it ramped up as the night went on. The bartender told us as soon as we walked in that we needed to come up to the bar to order. We appreciated the heads up. The sandwiches were fabulous! The bread was crunchy fresh and difficult to bite into...but the flavor could not be denied. Delicious! The beers were cold and flavorful. So many to choose from! Highly recommend this fun bar with great food!!

Had a little difficulty finding the place but once we did it was well worth it Great draft selection for craft beers All one and done. Very unique Tremendous can and bottle selection Very friendly and helpful staff Can’t wait to return

Enjoyed our brief stop here. Great selection of beers, on tap and in fridges. Nice, welcoming atmosphere. Only regret is not being able to stay longer

Lovely place, & coming from a wine drinking girlfriend of a beer mad bloke, thats saying something! Fridge upon fridge of beers and cider plus draft. Free WiFi and you have to try the red cherry cider :)

We went here the first night we got here and absolutely loved it. The beer selection was great and the white wine was lovely. It is a very relaxed place you can easily relax and have a few drinks in. For a glass of wine and a beer it's less that $18 a round.

I usually come here with my friends if we want to grab a drink and relax. I like the atmosphere and the beer selection is amazing. Just a nice place to sit back and enjoy a good beer with nice accompany

Went here for a few beers what great place,if you like craft beers fantastic range of beers to try. Place can get a little busy but not is no surprise has the beer list is vast with very different beers to try more bottles than tap. Worth a visit for any brit who likes craft ale.

Just steps from the Hirschfeld theatre this is a must stop for beer enthusiasts. Huge bottle selection with great atmosphere. I like drafts and they had a few great high ABV selections. Wish they had more!

A lot of interesting draft beers and bottled beers in this bar. Draft beers taste great. But the BC sausage wasn't good enough for these beers. Too much sauerkraut on the sausage to sour your taste even more after having a hoppy IPA. If you need to snack with the beers order something else.

Great selection of beers :) we were just hanging out by times Square and wanted a couple beers. Love it.

Great beer selection on tap and by the can / bottle. Some sought after beers you won't see in most other places. Bartender was helpful and joked around with the kid in our party. Worth seeking out if you're in this end of town, where affordable good beer is hard to find.

Great selection on tap (plus lots of cans & bottles) A good place to meet after work. Knowledgeable bartenders who are friendly The place has a good vibe

...To keep you going! I think there's 14 draft options, all ranging from the usual crafty offerings of sours, porters, IPAs, white ales etc, along with 3 large fridges of canned and bottled locally and international beers too. The barman was great, really informative, full of chat and made the whole bar at ease. Flights, 10oz (I think) and 16oz pours available. Would definitely recommend a trip to BC if you like a good beer. Btw, the current house beer is BC2- black saison. Try it!

Had potential for a cool place to hang out, and great beers. They need more beers on draft, with bigger selection to pull off what they are trying. Service was poor, space was sparse, staff needs to get over themselves and focus on customers a bit more than themselves. We ended up waiting and waiting and the 6 of us walked out.....

I am not a beer aficionado by any means. But I agreed to go with friends. The atmosphere was pretty cool. The bar tender was very friendly. There were a fair assortment of beers on tap. I had Forbidden Root because of the name and the promise that it tasted like root beer. It did! But after half a beer I couldn't stomach that concoction any more. I give it three stars because the beer is pretty expensive at $9 a pint.

I had 90 minutes to kill before a broadway show and found this place via google. I had low expectations. Considering how close it is to the madness of times square, etc. it had a nice, low-key atmosphere, was not overcrowded, and did not feel touristy to me. In fact, my presence was probably the most touristy thing about it. Enjoyed their beers on tap.

Stumbled across here during some bar hopping. They have a limited selection of beers on tap, but a massive bottle collection, including some harder-to-find beers. Add in some food and high-end liquor and you have a nice, local spot for drinks. Will certainly go back!

We went here as it was close to the hotel and looked like a nice little pub. We were only in there for one, as we were heading out for more, but the beer was nice with nice atmosphere. Would go again.

Beer Culture was a great after-theater midtown stop. We enjoyed our appetizers and beer choices, served in a cozy and friendly atmosphere. Though they only had about 8-10 taps, their bottle selection was enormous.

Stopped in for a beer after a show, great place to just chill. Popular though, if you find a seat claim it. Lots to choose from.

There are wide range of craft beers both in bottles and on taps. I am more interested in on tap beers. For on tap they are carrying good selections. Seems like this place is a meeting place among craft beer makers. Apart from that the place is very noisy, barely to talk and to hear. The lady at the bar is not helpful or having good service mind. I did not ask for more but in general it should not be in this service. Feel like be ignore because of being Asian.

There was an amazing selection of beers on tap and from bottle. The bar itself was long and narrow with lots of seating and tables. Very easy to find, great location and wonderful service.

I guess I was expecting more in the way of hard to find or exotic beers. It's a nice little place but does not have an extensive craft beer selection. We did not have any food but did have a beer culture IPA which was just OK.

Friendly neighborhood bar with friendly service and interesting craft beers. Serve beer and whiskey only but they do have some cider choices. In addition to 14 beers on tap there is an eclectic collection of canned and bottled beer.

Stopped in randomly 2 weeks ago while staying in NYC. It was just about noon and gf and I decided it was time for a cocktail. It was very cozy and they had a good selection of micro brews and wine for her. I had a couple red ales and if we had more time we would have stayed for lunch. A couple other people at the bar ordered the hot dog which came out looking amazing !! The bartender was very friendly and it seemed like it was a locals type hang out which suited us fine. Highly recommend.

We visited this bar after attending the Moulin Rouge Broadway show. The place was not crowded but still lively. The bartender was making light conversation with the regulars and was friendly to us as tourists. We had a couple of pints and then went on our way. Easy going, nice bar. It would definitely become a personal favourite if I lived in Manhattan. I would recommend a visit if one finds themselves in Broadway of near Times Square.

We had read about this place prior to arriving in NYC and it was pretty close to our hotel so we used it a lot. No matter what time of day/evening/night we visited it was always welcoming and friendly. The choice of beers is excellent, lots of fridges with cans and bottles to suit every taste. There is also a vast array available on the taps at the bar, you can see what is on offer on a large blackboard that lists the name, brewery, strength and price. It's not a massive place but it does have a massive vibe. There was always a good mix of people in when we were there. Bar staff were excellent. We didn't have any of the food/snacks in here but did see plenty of them and they all looked good and were devoured by those around us. Recommended, can't wait to go back when we're next in New York.

Like any other craft beer place in the city, this is like a hole in the wall. Lucky to have found that place and have a great time with good food and beers. The selection is amazing and to be in the middle of midtown, it's even better. From IPA, stouts and porters... Definitely coming back

Went after the show and had drinks and appetizers. Great little bar for locals. Good drinks and food was on point.

A good selection of beer on pump and a vast selection in the fridges a good stop for any beer loving fan. Clientele very friendly and happy to give a recommendation.

Popped by Beer Culture before the show. Very close to all the theatre spots and an easy walk from Time Square. Has a very good local feel to it, with lots of choices of beer from many parts of the US and beyond, great Belgium selection as well (even with some Trappist Wits). Not a ton of tables, but we were able to get one and very much enjoyed the burger, full of taste and cooked perfectly (angus beef). They also have Kielbasa, I mean you can't pass that up when you can have a nice cold craft brew to go with it. It's not an every day item, but man do they know how to make you wish it was an every day item. The service was great, my wife need her feet up due to being pregnant, but they were looking for extra seats, but once they saw she was pregnant they totally understood and looked elsewhere. Had the pickle jar as an appetizer, if you love pickles it's a winner for sure. All in all it might have been the best food we had while in NYC and for NYC prices it wasn't bad at all. Even get cash back through YELP. Would for sure go back and try more of the amazing appetizers they have, they all sound sooo good. You'll be glad you came to Beer Culture is does not disappoint.

Stopped in with my wife for a couple of beers. Excellent selection of craft beers. I chose the Schenker Watermelon Glow Up and stuck with it all night. I’m a fan of all beers but this one was something special. Bartender was friendly and informative. If you are a beer connoisseur, this is the place for you. Highly recommended!

Stopped here for a beer and a little lunch. Wasn't expecting a great lunch which we got. Yummy sliders and a salad. Great conversations at the bar where we sat. Lots of locals eat here. Definitely a hit - we will return!

Great selection of beer. Draft beers as well as coolers filled with a wide selection at craft beers. Great place! Bartender very educated on beers they have. Sit at bar or at one of the table. Great place to get a drink before/after dinner or Broadway show.

Good place to come for a pint. Good selection of beers. Crowd seemed mellow and place isn't overrun like many trendy places in Manhattan. Good place for a quiet (for a bar) evening.

Very friendly, helpful bartenders, who are knowledgeable and glad to provide suggestions. I would return often.

Very cool, relaxed, and groovy atmosphere for lovers of microbrews which seems to be a rarity these days in NYC. Great old building with lovely ambiance, funky music and a cold case for you to buy specialty beers on the go! A great place to stop in for a break from whatever you’re doing and I’m here for another week and will call this place home.

Great beers and great food! The staff is very knowledgeable and friendly as well. I would definitely go back and bring friends!

On the plus side, the selection was beer at the top, and the service was good. On the minus side, the acoustics were not good when there were many people (especially drunk people) But the place attracts many different people and is very central at Time Square.

Friendly staff, terrific beer selection ... can’t wait to go back!! Didn’t try the food, but what I saw looked delicious.

Found this spot after a Google search for craft beer in NYC. So glad we found it. It’s a very unassuming spot and only offers drink service at the bar. They have 10-12 draft beer but have over 400 beer choices in bottles and cans you can choose from. They not only serve as a bar, but also an off-sale store so you can mix and match a 6-pack and take it with you. The bartenders are friendly and very knowledgeable about their beer. They have a food menu which consists of your standard bar fare – we had wings and nachos. Also had their signature bacon ice cream, which was a wonderful treat for the end of the evening. If you like craft beer, this is a not-to-miss location.

Accidentally came across this place whilst escaping Times Square. Was just looking for a bite to eat but found an amazing beer fridge that I had quite a bit of fun at. There wasn’t loads of food on the menu but what they did have was really good Will be going again soon!

Every time I'm in NYC, I stop here. It's one of my favorite places in the city to grab a beer - awesome selection. Cool vibe. Great appetizers.

Stumbled upon this place while touring NYC and I must say that while small, it offered a vast selection of local craft beers. There are no mixed drink options and the sign clearly states that up front so that you know what to expect. Nothing fancy, but on a hot day it is well worth stopping by for a quick drink or two.

Really impressed with the selection at Beer Culture. Environment is really comfortable for a group and a great location.

We came across Beer Culture by chance - so glad we stopped in! Coolers & Coolers of cold beer lining the walls along with lots of taps behind the bar. We were there in the afternoon so it was a quiet place to have a cold drink, the crowd was starting to pick up as it got closer to 5:00. Impressive beer selection.

Nice find small place with at least 12 craft beers on tap. Very friendly staff who know about the beer they serve. Lots of locals who are only to willing to stop and have a chat

Discovered Beer Culture by searching online. Decided to try it and was impressed with the friendly and professional barman, Peter Malfatti. With a selection of good Pale Ales, it made an enjoyable session. I was supplied tasters... ended up trying all 4 that were on offer. It isn’t big on frontage, but worth the trip.

Great beer selection we loved it good real enjoy it thanks it's in the middle of the block nice atmosphere great staff

We go to NYC at least once a year and always make sure to make a stop here. It's a small cozy bar next to the Al Hirschfield Theater so it's a great place for a pre and post show drink. They have a great craft beer selection and the staff has always been friendly.

This place is a little gem and a must if you are into your craft beers. Such a great concept with fridges full of all different IPA's, largers, stouts, porters, you name it they had it. Was hard not to get carried away and try everything. A must if your into your beers

Great beer selection! Loved the atmosphere! Great customer service! Love the beer selection! Must go here!

This place is good for beer only. Not for proper eating. It’s ok if you just want some snacks to go with the beer.

Great place to grab a few beers after work. Don't expect the standard selections you find at other bars; this place is unique. They have a 12 tap selection on draft and fridges stacked with an amazing variety. Just pick a bottle/can and bring it to the bartender.

Endless variety to find your favorite brew! Great service and bartenders very educated to provide meaningful recommendations!

What a great place, met a lot of nice people here, the assortment of beer is beyond enormous. besides what they have in bottles/cans, they also have their own beer on tap. A must go to for Beer Lovers.

My husband and I stopped in for a quick lunch on the first day of a one week trip to NYC. Beer Culture had a nice selection of beers on tap and an enormous selection of bottles and cans. The bartender offered to let us try the beer on tap, and after sampling we both decided on the Greenpoint Harbor Leaf Pile. We also ordered two of the Italiano Paninis. Outstanding! Great beer, tasty sandwiches, and excellent service! We stopped in for drinks a few times during our trip and enjoyed it every time. I will say, the evening crowd is younger than the lunch crowd, a bit more boisterous, and a lot louder, but it was still a nice place to stop for a really good beer and snack.

I went with my best friend and my cousin to check out the place bc it was recomended by friends. I may have to say that I loved everything. We got to the place and we decided to sit at the bar. We got there around 5:30pm and the place was not crowded. But if you decide to come around 7pm...since the place its small...you will see a lot of customers enjoying their beers and/or their cocktails. My friends decided to try draft beers for the many selections they have available and I decided to try a whiskey called Basil Hayden's with Ginger Beer. Love it. It had the strong flavor of the whiskey but at the end you will feel the ginger spice...amazing!! Regarding food I may have to say that we try a Capresse Sandwich and the Sliders and it was excellent...yummm!!! Regarding service...all the bartenders gave us amazing service...even when the rush hour started. Thank you guys for an amazing evening.

Great place to meet with friends or for a date. Large selection of micro brews. Friendly staff. Place to meet people who are beer lovers.

I love trying different beers when we travel and I saw this place an ended up visiting in 3 times. It is like a little local pub in Hell's Kitchen. Friendly enough bar staff but not trying so hard to get a tip to ask uncomfortable questions. Plenty of locals and a good selection of draft beers. It is far enough off the tourist strip to not be ruined by tourists who "have to visit" - but close enough to access. If you are a guy or girl who likes to try different beer and likes a relaxed atmosphere - give this place a try - you won't be disappointed.

Excellent and wide beer selection, national and international brews, including great ones on tap. Awesome vibrant atmosphere, great staff. Good food to go with the beers. Just go.

Friendly bartender, fantastic beer selection, reasonable prices, fun little band, heart of midtown. What's not to like ?

Went for drinks on a Sunday night. Love the location as it is close to the main sights in midtown but still off the tourist track. It was not busy at all few locals there. Good selection of beers. Didn't try any snacks or bar food. Will be a go to place in midtown for future trips.

In the super fast paced Manhatten, this place moved at my pace. Top staff, great beer, will get back ASAP!

So, if you live in New York, this might be a great beer bar. If you live pretty much anywhere else...let's say Columbus, Ohio...where even the most basic beer bar has 20+ taps, this place is underwhelming. Bottle selection was solid, the vibe was friendly, but the 12 tap selection was bland. No sours or anything unusual.

This is my favorite bar for meeting people near Time Square. It's close enough everyone can find it, and i don't have to walk thru time Square. They have a good selection of Whiskey and bourbon, but where they really shine is beer. The Taps are an ever evolving fountain of delicious. If you can't find what you want on tap just turn around and visit the coolers. i have never had a friend disappointed by their selection. If all you want is domestic completely flavorless beer don't forget to visit the forlorn little fridge on the end.

Really great selection of beers. Drunk with locals! Small, but fun atmosphere in the Hell's Kitchen and Times Square areas. I would certainly go back again when the n town.

You really can’t go wrong with almost 20 taps and 4 huge fridges of delicious craft beer – this is beer culture. Also, you can take the beer with you to go (not to drink and go) but take the un-opened bottles with you. We enjoyed this bar a few times on our last trip – when we were there it was fairly quiet which we liked. For more information and pictures check out our site : thegreatcubeescape.com

.....but far enough to escape the regular tourist trail. A great selection of bottled beers with a really simple and extremely friendly atmosphere. If you've ever tried any of the Classic Belgium beers this is a great place to get one outside of Europe. The food was simple but very good quality, which is a perfect a compliment to that beer. This is a MUST for any UK CAMRA members! The staff were equally as friendly as the locals too, looking forward to going back to NY.

How can I put it politely as Billy Conelly would put it we were made to feel as welcome “as a fart in a space suit!” The bar tender CBA to serve us and we were asked to move seats by a regular Had 1 drink and left !

Very friendly and cool bar with a big sortiment of beer. The prices are absolut ok for manhatten 😉 The service is super friendly and happy to recommendations

This is a small, dark, craft beer-centric bar with a small number of beers on tap but a huge, huge variety of canned and bottled beers and ciders. There's also a pretty good selection of whiskey, but they don't serve mixed drinks of any kind. It's craft beer or whiskey. During my visit, the staff were friendly and made recommendations. It was Fall, so I tried a few ciders from the cooler and drank one or two locally brewed beers. It'd be great if they had more taps, but with a space this small, they really don't have anywhere to put 'em. Overall, a really great stop for beer lovers in NYC.

Service was slow but the sandwiches worth waiting for. 'Different' vegetarian options, healthy and plentiful serves. If you are into beer, you will be spoilt for choice, craft beers on tap and 100's of bottled/canned varieties to satisfy any taste.

been there 3 times in my stay in NYC. Lovely little place with local craft beer, good service, good price, nice atmosphere!

Been coming here a few times and just realized I haven't written a review. Basically, this is a small neighborhood pub with a massive selection of beers from all over the world. Always ten or so different ones on tap, that seem to be changing regularly. Not too loud in here either, most of the time, so conversations are actually possible. Located really close to Times Square as well!

Wow, stumbled across this little gem whilst on vacation with my family in NYC for several days. Really friendly and knowledgeable staff when it comes to quality craft beers. Thirteen craft beers on a rotating tap plus about 8 fully stocked fridges of all kinds of beer. We also had food from the kitchen which was awesome too. Can’t recommend this place enough. Posted a picture of my favourite local brew. Thanks guys .

In town for a convention. Busy all day at the nearby Marriott Marquis. Took a break and walked in, about a block. Step down off the street. Go to the bar and order. Beer and whiskey. Draft beer was good, different selections. Had an IPA from Cali and another from Vermont. Something different, in a good way. Give it a try!

This place is a great idea for beer enthusiast. A place to have a pint of a variety of different beers and a great selection to bring some home. I would recommend coming here to any Manhattan travellers. The atmosphere is rustic and relaxing.

Loved the selection of beer, the knowledgeable bartender and the low-key vibe. The burger was really good. A "hole in the wall" that is way more my type of place than some of those giant, marketing-driven beer places.

After seeing a Broadway matinee, my friends and I had a couple of hours free before dinner. We headed over to Beer Culture and immediately felt the Irish pub aura. There was a couple with baby in tow, chunky wood tables, exposed brick walls and friendly chatter surrounding us. We ordered "flights" which is a choice of any 4 selections from the on tap menu. All of our choices were excellent, representing a nice variety including some dark beers and ales. This bar is worth going out of your way to visit!

Beer Culture was exactly what we were looking for before our Broadway show - an unpretentious place to eat and have a few drinks. A big bonus were the many electrical outlets where we could charge devices... There were at least 10 beers on tap including a few Germans I'd not seen in NYC elsewhere and at least 75 in the refrigerators in cans/bottles. Surprisingly, there were about 25 different ciders as well - always nice for my wife who doesn't like beer or liquors. The burgers and salads were very good, freshly made and the service really warm - a bit of a surprise for NYC. Food and drinks are ordered at the bar, even if you've got a table. It's a small place, but warm and authentic - we'll be back...

This became our go-to spot before theater. Great beer selection. Friendly and knowledgable bartender, and other patrons as well. The pub food was amazing. We had the hot dog, hamburger, nachos. and they were WAY better than typical pub food. Seemed the person cooking really cared about the food he put out.

Beer Culture (BC) is located on a quiet residential street, amid rows of iconic brownstones. Inside, is a small, dimly-lit room with a small bar area and several tables. The atmosphere is very laidback but somewhat hipster, yet quiet and reserved. In any case, there are no lager-swilling fratboys with backwards baseball caps here. While the draft selection is somewhat limited, what they do offer is plenty of local breweries, a few unknown to me. Excellent brews; I tasted several quality quaffs from my new local fave: Finback Brewing. In addition to the drafts, BC offers a wide array of bottles and cans. There is a small food menu, but no table service. BC is one of those places where time just flies by as you enjoy another brew.

Rotating craft beer selection won’t have mass market names but should have something for every palette- just ask and the staff is quite helpful in that regard. Very chill no-pretense vibe. Skip the tots. Haven’t tried anything else from the kitchen, but I don’t recommend those. As the signs say, they don’t have vodka, gin, etc. so come ready to drink beer, whiskey, or nothing :)

The atmosphere in the pub is brilliant, so relaxed and friendly. It feels like you're experiencing a piece of normal New Yorker lifestyle, even though you're only a few blocks from Times Square. Staff are really friendly and knowledgable about beers. There s about 4 fridges full of a vast variety of beers, along with a good range on draft. There was a few types of wine, for non lovers of beer, but I enjoyed playing beer roulette with the other half, picking fridge number, shelf and beers from the left, as a lucky dip. He enjoyed everyone one. This was the only bar we went back to again on our stay

Excellent selection, the staff was helpful as i didn't want to spend ages looking for the type i was after

Went here just before a matinee and it was wonderful for what it is but I'm not sure it's the 71st best restaurant in NY but that's a trip advisor issue not Beer Culture's. Huge selection of beers and some ciders. The food is very good but a bit "sketchy" with chile and meatballs being served out of Crockpots behind the bar. The bartender was extremely friendly (as was everyone) and knowledgeable about beer. In this place, with their selection that is no small feat.

Quality beer and the burger is big, juicy and perfectly cooked. Bartender is friendly and the feel of the place is your local bar. Great place overall.

Stopped in for a quick lunch and drink before going to the matinee. Great craft beer selection. Also had gazpacho and a meatball panini which both were homemade and delish! Located very close to the theater.

Visit two or three times a year when looking for a quiet place to stop in for a beer - or several. A nice place with a good beer selection where you can actually enjoy a nice conversation without having to yell!

Wonderful little place to wait for the play to begin and explore the world of Beer. Great high alcohol suds from around the world. Interesting assortment of national whiskeys as well. Helpful staff and young crowd. Perfect for close friends and good booze.

Such a great beer bar in Hell’s Kitchen! Small and dark. But it works. A few tvs. Fridges with rare cans and bottles. Revolving taps that are always filled with unique craft beers for every flavor! Got myself the Ommegang Abbey las time. It was dark, and bitter, but very tasty.

Then this is the place for you... incredible selection of beers from around the world... several eclectic options on tap and literally 100's to choose from in the refrigerated shelves... pick a beer... take it to the bar and the knowledgeable bartender will pour it in the appropriate glassware for serving... simply spectacular!

I had time for a couple of drinks before heading out to meet some friends, and this place was highly recommended by a colleague so I figured I'd give it a shot. I'm glad I did! It was a Saturday afternoon, so it wasn't too busy. The atmosphere is very chill, it was a quiet place to grab a couple of local brews. The bartender was cool and took the time to chat with the patrons. I will definitely stop by on my next visit to NYC!

Stop here on a night out with my wife before dinner. Nice place with a great selection of beer and ciders. If want to hang out and have pint then this is your place.

Ok so there's some plus sides to this experience and negative sides. A plus, the atmosphere of the place was actually cool. The beer selection was huge and had lots of local brews too, which is something we always try to support! Unfortunately, they were slam packed because it had snowed, so everyone within a few blocks I feel were in this bar, which shows a good sign! However, the bar gal wasn't friendly at all, which is whatever- but customer service matters to me. The prices weren't terrible but we did find a joint down the road with better prices, so if that matters to you there are other places with the same beers but cheaper prices.

We went in on Saturday evening around 8 p.m. after reading a stellar review about it online (not TA); however, it was a bit crowded and loud for our taste. I liked the alternative rock music mix playing and the decor is cool to look at. Most beers are IPA's, which aren't our thing, so overall it just wasn't a good fit for us, personally. For more laid-back beer drinkers, try this spot on a late afternoon or week night.

What a fun, low-key, cool place that offers a brief respite from a vibrant, bustling city. It's just what we needed later at night when we needed a couple beers and a small bite to eat. They have several really good, diverse beers on tap with a knowledgeable bartender who can guide you in the right direction. It's the kind of place that makes you want to expand your beer horizons and try something different because you're in a different kind of place. What goes better with beer than three certified angus beef mini burgers topped with pickle, onion, arugula, tomato & mayo on potato brioche buns? NOTHING! I would definitely visit again.

How can you beer 6 well stocked beer coolers with some of the best beers of the world. Oh by adding rotating taps and the topper a old man refrigerator that has old man beer for 3 bucks. Can we say this place is a little slice of beer heaven. I also had the chili which was pretty good. From what the bartender was telling me is that the chili is a work in progress always trying to make the next batch better then the last. I love chili innovation!

This bar was just next door to where we lived & was always buzzing with people. Certain days it was busy in the day time. It just fly like home for us being in there. It was like heaven for beer lovers & labels of beers that I have never even heard of ever in my life. There are 2-3 refrigerators stacked up different pints of beers, one can pick up the beer & pay at the counter or ask the bartender to serve from the tap. The place is very dimly lit & very cozy. It also doesn't serve vodka & gin. The staff is very friendly and helps us with selection of beers too. Overall a fun place but we could spend much time here.

We stumbled across the place and were instantly won over. They have an excellent selection of beers from around the world and provide honest, good bar food. The staff were inviting and helpful and we will always venture back when in NYC.

Great beer choice and good quality. Batman unable to provide customer service to those he does not know. My wife’s wine tasted terrible, almost as if mixed with whiskey. When asked for a refill he refused then made a joke about it with his mates at the bar. BELLEND

Lovely staff , great beer , very clean , food was superb , a proper little hide away from the hustle !!! If you like beer or whiskey you really have got to get here !!!! I loved the oldest beer in nyc it came in a can but it is LOVELY !!! Can't remember the name but I'm sure it started with a y ..

We ordered flights of 4 different beers before decided on what we want a full size beer. Great selection! Enjoyed trying things I wouldn't normally try!

Local friends of mine chose this place for a little friends and family introduction hangout. We got a couple tables right away and started choosing beers from their impressive selection. Reasonable prices, which just makes me realize that where I live has caught up with NYC. I drank several good sour ales from around the USA. Stay was helpful in recommending and finding beers. Go and drink!

My husband can't stop talking about the Black Label he enjoyed. Fun collection of retro beers, micro brews, local beers, beers on tap, something for everyone. Professional staff.

My wife and I visited Beer Culture yesterday afternoon after because I was looking for a beer bar that sold cask conditioned ale and did food. We found this place by first by searching Alex Hall's Cask Conditioned Beer Data Base then read reviews on Trip Advisor. We were not disappointed. The cask beer was unique (an oatmeal stout flavored with chocolate and chili from the Breckenridge Brewery). They also offered about a dozen tap beers as well as a very extensive bottle selection (which you could take away back to your hotel/apartment or drink there). They also offered growlers to take away. The food menu was small. We had a very good hot pretzel which came with a nice mustard as an appy and we both had excellent pressed sandwiches. The atmosphere was very friendly. We engaged in conversations with the gentleman behind the bar as well as one of the patrons. A very welcoming place that we will visit again on another visit to NYC.

We went there for the beer and ended up with a new best friend! Bartender Guy, makes the place special and staff and patrons were very friendly and welcoming. Definitely worth a stop in if you are visiting and if you are a local, lucky you!

Loved this place. Went there twice during the few days I spent in NYC. Not a great selection of beers but they change often so you can try several at any time. Surprisingly good food - had the sliders which worked very nicely.

I've just got back from New York, and spent 7 hours in Beer Culture - and what a very happy 7 hours it was!! I rolled up at 12pm when it opened, and the awesome bartender Jessie was on the phone to the cable company. He came over and got me a beer, and said it was on the house as he was on the phone - very cool and great customer service. He then took me through the multitude of beers and ales on offer, and it was an amazing beer fueled flight! My family turned up a little later, and then a couple of my friends who were in town and we basically made the place our own. Jessie was just the perfect host - always making sure everyone had a drink that they liked - even those who didn't like beer. I got back to my hotel at 8pm with very little memory of how I got there, but knowing I'd had the best night in New York! The range of beers on offer here is staggering, and it's worth going out of your comfort zone and trying some of the more unusual offerings - some may just surprise you.

This place has a good selection of draft beers and even more bottled beer. The bartenders are very helpful with helping choose something that suited my tastes.

Wanted a fast lunch with a beer--this place was perfect. $8 for a brat. $7 for a beer ($1 off for 12-6pm happy hour). Friendly bartender.

If you love craft beer you'll love this place. Numerous kinds of beer on tap or by the can/bottle. Never tried the food but it looked very good. A must stop while in NYC!

It is tough to find good beer at a good price. Beer Culture both. They had a nice variety best enjoyed by their flight offering. The atmosphere was perfect (quiet by NY standards although we were there during matinees) and the staff was extremely helpful. This was my first time but I will definitely visit again.

On a rainy night it was comforting to stumble in for a drink and dinner. The beer selection was good and we were pleased with our choices. We did need to order dinner from the bar and retrieve our own beers, but dinner was delivered to our table. The goat cheese salads were very fresh! The place became VERY noisy. A few "words to the wise": This is definitely a bar first and a restaurant second. I would not recommend for families or couples seeking a romantic dinner. The menu is limited. It was great for our needs and I will likely visit again.

No vodka, no gin, no rum, no tequila, no b****ingredients, just beer and whisky are the house rules. Great place to go for craft and local beers. A must for all beer fans.

The people that work here are awesome and they have a great selection of bottles. Not many taps but lots of bottles and the food was so great!

Great place to try new beers, eat some bar food (great salami sandwich) and relax. Perfect for groups, casual dates or just going solo and rewarding yourself with a cold pint.

AMAZIN SERVICE. The bartender recommended a grilled cheese and fries. It was AMAZING. Highly recommend here.

This place is brilliant! It's a tiny joint on the south side of 45th between 8th and 9th, and is subtle in its entrance but has a huge welcoming heart! It's an old-school hip kind of place, without being annoyingly hipster. They do beer and whiskey, with an imprssive range of malts and even more impressive range of bourbons. And only quality mixers like dry here, thanks! But this place is really all about the beer... there's about a dzen taps, with a great cross section of styles and a good local representation. There's plenty on bottle/can too, but the piece de resistance is the cask pull line, which makes this place all but perfect. The barmaid Alea (or something like that) was brilliant and added to the atmosphere. She was great company for a couple of Aussies! Good music too. Brilliant place and I can't wait to come back!

During our trips to New York we had always enjoyed popping into Beer Culture for a couple pints. Great selection and knowledgeable staff behind the bar. All this seems to have changed. Their selection of draft beers seems to be about half of what it had traditionally offered. And on our last visit the service was far from stellar. The bartender seemed more interested in talking about acupuncture with one person at the bar rather than making sure everyone was taken care of. When I inquired about the difference between two lagers on offer the response was: "there is no difference, they're both the same." Which of course begs the questions: why would a place calling itself "Beer Culture" have two items with the same taste profile and did the bartender really have no knowledge of what was on offer ? Every bar in the city has Guiness on tap. Why would Beer Culture do the same ? Even their food menu now appears to be very pedestrian. On a positive side, they still have two very large fridges stocked with a great selection of cans and bottles which you can consume on premises or purchase for take away. So the question exists: do they have new owners or did we just get very unlucky with who was working the night we visited. For beer afficianados you would likely be better taken care of with selection and service at either As Is Bar or Hellcat Annie's Tap Room which are both in Hells Kitchen.

Met some friends on SuperBowl Sunday at 1pm.. The place was quiet which was fine with us. There is a huge selection of beers in coolers and on tap. The bartender was very nice and offered free tastings of beers on tap. We ordered 3 cheese sandwiches which were very good. Everyone enjoyed their food. Great place to meet friends and try some new brews.
Great beer selection, chill vibe
We went on a Friday night after a late arrival into NYC after a long (and hectic) travel day. We had the nachos with bacon which were delicious and perfectly proportioned. We tried 3 beers from local brewers, all of which were excellent and unique. Service was good. Nice chill vibe. Cute space. Beers for 10-16 oz pours were in the $6-9 range, which is probably in line with local prices. If anything could have made the experience better, it would be tasting sheets with more info about each beer to help you choose and enjoy better.
