Very Good Food! If you have the Sightseeing pass tell them upfront!

By jasonf1975 |

We had the NYC sightseeing pass. The book says it’s a $25 credit per person. In reality what you are supposed to get is a small version of their menu. So, we ended up paying for around 1/2 of our order. However, everything we ordered was really good and I believe the owner, Tony took care off us. The food was good, the service was good. It was worth the visit, I was just annoyed how the pass advertised it.

Excellent food, value, and staff

By Ed C |

Delicious food, courteous wait staff, convenient location, clean dining area with a decent number of tables, excellent desserts.

Best Italian Lunch in NY

By Brian A |

The food is great and the prices are even better. Very consistent and homemade Italian sauce. Try anything parm. The shrimp parm was great.

Fantastic gem of a restaurant

By Philip O |

Dropped by this place late due to delayed flight and commute into the city. Staff treated us like we were special even though it was late. The food was so delicious, true authentic Italian food. Homemade bread and dipping oil was AMAZING. Had the chicken parmigiana, it did not disappoint. Don't pass this place by!

Excellent food

By Harry P |

This restaurant was included in our Sightseeing Pass and a completely free meal...I had low expectations when I saw it however I’d have been prepared to pay for it! It doesn’t look the most salubrious, I was apprehensive but as it was a quick lunch we stayed. It was some of the best chicken I ate in New York! It’s almost canteen style, all laid out but someone serves you. They’re happy to answer questions. You choose your meat or main from a small but good selection, choose a side and drinks and take a seat. No fuss or frills. I had the ‘Vodka Chicken’. So tender and flavoursome. I believe it was the Owner (Tony??) who came round and checked that everything was good with our meal. Nice touch given it was all served buffet selection style. Wish we’d had time to go back again!

Great Place

By Chris R |

Out hotel recommended this place as a good 'value' and kid friendly spot like I requested. Bottom line, it was quite posh, great service, reasonably priced, and most importantly had great authentic NY Italian food.

Nice Pizza, Slightly Better than Average Food

By Claudia E |

Pizza is thin and crisp and tasty, not the best I've ever had, but definitely enjoyable. Way better than $1.00 pizza. Good, friendly service. Reasonable prices

Great slices and dessert

By Ed C |

This place never disappoints with excellent slices as well as nicely prepared Italian dishes and desserts. The tiramisu was excellent as usual with just the right amount of flavor. The service is the only area this establishment lacks, but the food more than makes up for this. I would definitely recommend. I try to visit at least every few months when I am in the area for work.

Nice food and simple

By Daniel C |

Nice pizza good flavor simple good for a change after many restaurants, recommend the calamities and the mozzarella cheese

Bad surprise

By H3nrique-M |

We decided to try this restaurant because it was in front of our hotel. At first we were hopeful for a great meal because the starters were good and the waiters were nice. Only in the main dish did we realise the poor quality of the food. We had ordered pastas and they were very insipid. In conclusion, the price is medium but too high for the food's quality.

The Best Pizza I have Ever Imagined

By Zacho |

My East Coast friends said the pizza is best in New York. I make a pretty mean pizza myself so I have always been skeptical. The front desk clerk at our hotel highly recommended this place and it did not disappoint. Both of our pizza's were the absolute best we have ever tasted! I got pepperoni and garlic and it was to die for. A little greasy but you could tell everything was fresh and home made. The service was a bit slow and the temperature was really warm but I found that to be true most places in NYC. The manager (Tony) came by to ask us about our meal and he was very friendly and super helpful in recommending other places to get drinks and experience. If you are in the area and want some pizza, this is a must-try. Pro-tip: The personal pizzas are HUGE. Come hungry!

Last minute delight

By Laura_Willi |

We came here after recommendation from staff around the corner in the Empire State Building. Food was really lovely and tasty, considering location reasonably priced too. A hidden gem in the city. Lasagne and carbonara highly recommended.

Sliced Pie

By Bk S |

Okay, so, It’s New York and slice pie is everywhere BUT Bella Napoli is the place for the best west of Park and north of 14th. The veggie slice with added fresh mozz, absolute deliciousness. Great people here too. Those things said, Bella Napoli will see me every time I’m in the city.

Popped in on the off chance!

By Candice Tuer-Smith |

Looking for pasta before the marathon and the first place we wanted had a two hour wait!! Walked passed here and what a find. Busy but friendly. Everything cooked to order so be prepared to wait for it but well worth the wait. Garlic bread with cheese each, lasagna and fettuccine carbonara, cheesecake and tiramisu. Wine and Diet Coke. Toilets clean, neat and tidy. Definitely recommend!

Nice cosy restaurant on Madison Avenue at 31st Street

By 193cat |

Visited here for dinner and really enjoyed it. Staff were attentive and professional and the food was very good. We had wine with our meal and it really wasn't expensive. Would recommend.

Delicious Italian Food!

By Mona K |

The food and atmosphere was enjoyable and down home! The wait staff was very friendly and accommodating!

Avoid

By Debra H |

We visited on Sunday evening, April 3, 2016, a group of 7 family members. The service was slow. The wait staff were arguing loudly most of the time. It reminded me of an episode of Gordon Ramsey and Hells Kitchen. The food was delivered to our table so that half of us had our meal the others were served 10 minutes later. I had a simple spaghetti and meatballs. The spaghetti hadn't been drained properly, and so the extra water was on the plate diluted the spaghetti sauce. One of our party received the wrong meal. Just a poor experience overall. Perhaps Gordon should pay a visit.

AWFUL

By Loren94 |

Myself and my mother walked in to this restaurant after realising we could have a free dinner when using the sightseeing pass. From the moment we walked IN, there was a man shouting at a poor waiter. He never stopped. The waiter sat us down and at that got shouted at because he sat us down. The shouting continued as we were sat at a table. There was a couple of other people working behind the counter but the main waiter just kept being shouted at. It was that bad there was no way we could continue to order our food and listen to it anymore. How the waiter put up with it I don't know. As we walked out the waiter asked if we were leaving and by the look on his face he didn't blame us. Good luck if you wish to eat here!!!

Good food, place could do with a good clean

By rotelharp |

The restaurant was quiet when we arrived, but got busier as we were there. There was also quite a few people coming in for takeaway which is always a good sign. Although there were a few staff there only seemed to be one person waiting tables, making it a bit rushed and hectic service at times. We were given complimentary hot cheese rolls when we ordered, which were delicious. We both had a pizza, which were a bit greasy but nice. Looking around, the restaurant was quite dusty and in need of a spring clean.

Nice Italien in good location

By Moonlighter88 |

This restaurant is located across the road from the Roger hotel in Madison Ave. It looks good and the staff are friendly but the food was very disappointing. My chicken vandast had a sweet sauce which I found inedible and when questioned the staff agreed that the sauce had added sugar!

YUM

By Laura D |

Lunch specials: lots of food and great price. Had chicken parm and pasta, with beverage...$10 and VERY YUMMY! Went back the next day for pizza.

Great food, terrible service for a group!

By Chena A |

I was on a bus trip with a large group of my friends and family ( there were more than 40 of us), and we made a reservation. They kept encouraging me to preorder the meals for our group, and I couldn't understand why. Now I know. They didn't have enough wait staff to handle a group our size. There were 3 men for our whole group! I heard they may have been double booked, but there should have been more people to help. Our waiters were also waiting on tables downstairs. It took a long time just to get our drinks ordered, and even longer to get bread. Finally, someone from the kitchen came out and helped expedite our orders. Once the food started coming, things improved. All the food was excellent, but the service was not. I would recommend this restaurant, but for a couple or family - not a large group.

No Bella

By ecoledo |

Found this place last minute on local review website. Servers seemed overworked and stressed. Appeared that no one was really in charge. No running water in men's bathroom which was downstairs off a dirty, old unused bar area. The entire place seemed unclean. Had to remind server to bring complimentary bread and olive oil. When she did the bread was served unapologetically burned. Server made mistake on order which was corrected. Food was average. Would never eat there again. My suspicions were confirmed when I saw the NYC Sanitation Grade that I missed in the window upon entering, Grade B. It was the only B I saw in my entire time in the city.

Authentic Italian

By Yvonne C |

Great Italian food in an authentic atmosphere. Homemade pasta with attentive service in an authentic Italian atmosphere. I had the pappardelle bolognese and my husband had the chicken Parmesan and both were outstanding. The bread could have been a meal by itself. Try it. You won't be disappointed.

Fine

By Patricia S |

We visited here our first night in New York - it had been a long day and it was over 24 Hrs from our last sleep so we wanted something quick and tasty - this place fulfilled our needs ! Nothing too exciting, but the staff were very good and pleasant, explained the menu and gave recommendation. The food was good too - probably worth a visit if your in the area , reasonable prices for NY too .

Definately not worth a second visit.

By MerseysideSueTate |

I visited this restaurant with my husband & daughter on Thursday 13th October, it wasn't especially busy at the time. We ordered our meal my husband & I were having meatballs & spaghetti with a side plate of garlic bread and my daughter a cheese pizza. After waiting about 20 minutes mine & my husbands meal arrived. It was at least 15 minutes before my daughters pizza arrived, but no sign of the garlic bread. We had to ask the waiter a further 2 times before it arrived by this time we had finished our meal. I felt that they weren't interested in serving us because we were tourists and they were more interested in talking to other people who weren't. We also ordered another round of drinks which we didn't get until we asked again. I was really annoyed and when I was asked did I want to see the dessert menu, I declined as I didn't want to wait another lengthy time for my sweet. They did bring over 1 portion of tiramisu to compensate for the lengthy wait, but by that time we just wanted to pay the check and go. The waiter actually admitted he had forgotten our order. Incidentally we only had to ask for the check once before it was brought to the table almost immediately. Definately wouldn't return or recommend, terrible service and the meal was nothing to write home about.

mini NYC vacation

By MeterReader |

this was an unexpected pleasure the food was great the service was good, the waiter spoke more Italian than English we both had the chicken parm with a glass of wine very nice

Worst lasagna ever

By dgara |

Went in to get takeout on a quiet evening, ordered the lasagna. Service was fine, I even tipped. Got back to my hotel. The lasagna was all over the place in the container, was a bit watery, and basically almost flavourless. Sure if I paid 5 bucks for it that would be fine but this was 18 bucks not including tip. Huge rip off. The bun they gave was also pretty stale. Not happy for what I had to pay for, and considering I tipped the staff didn’t even try. Don’t order here and if you do don’t bother tipping.

Authentic Italian without the NY price tag

By Travelswithtrev |

We arrived late and were craving some delicious NY pizza. Staff at the hotel we are staying at said this was the best place within a couple blocks. One look at the menu and we skipped the pizza in favor of the pasta dishes. Served piping hot and with a smile. Great experience!

Best pizza in NYC

By Cutekids30 |

We stayed at the Park South Hotel which was just a few blocks away and ate here 4 times. They have the best pizza and their pasta and sauces are all homemade and cooked to perfection. Can’t wait to go back!

A true NYC experience

By WantageRover |

Had been exploring NYC on foot and we decided to eat Bella Napoli was just up the road so decided to give it a go. Service was very good and the banter between the staff was a floor show all on it's own, food was excellent and came out promptly, its was extremely good value for the portions and quality, would definitely go there again as many of the customers we locals

A Great Find!

By Tababb |

We come across this quaint restaurant on the way back from the empire state building. If you appreciate fine Italian food, this is the place to eat. The food was all made fresh, tasty, there was lots of it and overall it was great value for money. The staff were also lovely & very friendly and couldn't do enough for you! We were that impressed, we visited again on our last night. Would highly recommend this place - you would not be disappointed with the meal or lovely staff ( Tony & his son Tony also Marco ).

Great for a quick bite

By 331aee |

We were starved so came in to take out pasta and took to our hotel nearby. It was good and reasonable prices. The pizza has a good rep but we went with simple but filling alfredo and meat sauces dishes

Basic but friendly

By mumwhotravels2014 |

Although this restaurant looked in need of a little TLC the salad was superb. The pizza was thin and crispy and had plenty of topping. The service could not have been friendlier

Delish!!

By gabu811 |

Food was great. Inexpensive, nice comfortable inside. Freshly made sauces. Was recommended by our hotel. Great choice. Would definitely visit on our next trip to NYC.

Amazing food

By JCLogan |

Ate here twice while on Holiday in New York. Staff very friendly and attentive. Food delicious. A lot of choice on the menu so ate from the chef's recommendations which I thoroughly enjoyed. Well worth a visit if you are nearby.

In love with this place

By Nicole D |

If you’re looking for a authentic Italian spot with all the Charm of New York City, this is the place to go. Amazing homemade food and even more amazing service. Everyone is very warm, welcoming and friendly. Will definitely be back! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THE CARBONARA!! Addictive!!

worst experience we had in New York

By hisdocon |

Our worst food experience in many years of eating out regularly. The dining room is very down at heel and really requires upgrading urgently. The service was shocking - repeated requests from our party for basics like cutlery and condiments were met by laughter on one occassion. If the food was good you could forgive this but the food was dreadful - especially the meatballs and the carbonara. When full plates of food went back the waiter asked did we not like it ? We replied that we could not eat it and that brought more laughter but no one from managment. Not one of us finished our meal. When paying the bill I made my feelings about the service and food clear and left a very small tip. Please if you have any choice go elsewhere as there are locely places nearby.

Cozy little place

By Elissa E |

Just what we needed for a quite, neighborhood dinner. Service was fun and friendly but slow and a little disorganized. The wine was great and the soup even better. Pizza was good. But my favorite part was the atmosphere...felt just right!

Meal ruined by other patrons behaviour

By Andrea V |

After a referral by my hotel, I went into this restaurant twice - the first time was for take out. The carbonara was great - huge serving that I couldn't finish but it tasted beautiful. The second visit I chose to eat in. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the spaghetti and meatballs was beautiful. However the atmosphere was severely ruined by two arrogant guys who sat down to talk work and began talking and swearing at the top of their voices. They are obviously regulars, as they engaged with the staff, but their behaviour was disgraceful (especially for suits!), particularly as there were young families in the restaurant. I remarked to the manager the two guys were being obnoxious and he agreed. What I found really disappointing was not one employee asked these guys to keep their voices down and stop swearing. As I left I stopped I to tell the guys their behaviour was appalling and their response was "yeah, I don't give a f*^%k". Charming! Despite the good food, I won't be returning and I'll be letting my hotel know in case they decide to send other guests there in future.

Real deal NYC pizza pie

By Peter T |

For my buck, this is a great example of New York City pizza. My wife and I each got a slice and shared a third. Plus a few Cokes, and we spent like $14 or $15.

inedible

By Julie C |

Expensive, unprofessional, dirty & so disappointing. We visited here after a long day travelling & without researching first we thought wed give it a go, big mistake! From the wobbly table to the awful staff & service we hated it. The food was just horrible, the waiters were "cleaning" around us & even put all the chairs on tables for closing up while we ate our main course, the chef came past our table & in a loud voice commented that he wasn't getting paid enough in tips, we were then hit with a bill neither of us felt like paying as we'd had such a miserable meal & we certainly didn't want to tip the rude chef. Not the greatest first impression of Manhattan eateries although we found lovely places for the rest of our stay which was great.

Quick Bite

By Taramuni |

Across the road you can find this Italian Pizza center come in good size and with affordable price. Simple but cozy interior!

Excellent Food

By MrsOregon2009 |

I had tortellini in a pink sauce. Great taste. A glass of chianti and a arugula salad with prosciutto. All excellent. Great service, very relaxed atmosphere. I really enjoyed it and would definitely go back again.

Makes me miss Olive Garden

By SteelRing |

Excellent freshly baked bread and garlic bread. Thin crust pizza is awesome too... However the marinara sauce on everything is a bit "yuck" for my taste since it's too sweet, watery, and clearly not naturally sweet. The place is dimly lit but I think it's to hide the uncleanliness of the place rather than to make it romantic. The service is slow and I have the weirdest feeling like the wait staffs are new or as if they don't belong to this restaurant, at least not enthusiastically for sure. Seems like a typical tourist trap for me, but at least the food is somewhat edible although definitely not on the dirt cheap side.

Good food and great prices

By MaineJoy2006 |

There is nothing like freshly made pasta.... My sister and I ate here during the great blizzard. Our hotel recommended it when most restaurants had closed. I was very impressed with both the food and the reasonable prices. The service was friendly. The interior is a bit warn but if you want good food reasonably priced, this spot is great!

Visit to Big Apple

By Danny O |

Our last night out on the town and we were looking for something to make it memorable. We happened to stumble into Bella Napoli and the very moment we stepped in we were welcomed with a great attitude. We were seated within seconds. Our waiter was very polite and friendly letting us know about the house foods so that we could share if we wanted. I ordered the Chicken Scarpariello with a ceasar salad as an appetizer. The salad was one of the best I've ever had. We split it 4 ways and the plate was cleaned out to the point that we almost wanted to order another one. Our main courses came, and the food was better than expected. My Scarpariello was delicious. It came with a side bowl of spaghetti to pair with, the serving portions are large! The spaghetti and meatballs did not disappoint either. My wife ordered it and I tried a bit and it was delicious as well. Very nicely cooked and topped with a house sauce that combined well with the meat. If your in New York I say make this one of the locations that you make sure to visit. You will feel like part of the family and enjoy your dinner the same way we did. Awesome place!

Great Find!

By Longhornpenguin |

There was a two hour wait at a “trendy” pizza place down the road. We are so glad we didn’t wait! This place is an old-school gem. GREAT garlic bread and very good pizza. A really good find not far from the ESB...stop here if you enjoy a traditional pizza place.

Good food.

By didnotattend |

So this place is more a self service diner than restaurant. They have a choice of pastas and then you can also have a meat dish as well if you wish, or pizza slice. It's non fussy inside, plastic cutlery though real plates and they do have alcohol if you want it. My food was really tasty and the staff were very friendly. Not a posh meal out but good tasty filling food.

A Real Surprise

By SusieVBP |

Bella Napoli was recommended to us by our hotel concierge after we asked for a recommendation for dinner on the day we had traveled. We asked for casual Italian, and that is exactly what we got! Honestly, we didn't have high expectations since our hotel clearly had some sort of arrangement with them, but it was only a couple of blocks away, so we went. It was delicious! We ordered a personal pizza (plenty for two, especially as an appetizer) which was tasty with a crispy crust. I ordered a pasta dish, and the waiter wisely recommended a side portion rather than the full dinner portion -- coupled with the pizza, a full order would have been way too much. My husband ordered the salmon and thought it was very nice -- it also came with a side of spaghetti which he couldn't finish. The atmosphere (in the back restaurant part) felt just like a little Italian spot we had eaten in in Florence. Nothing fancy -- just good food, lots of it, attentive service, and very pleasant atmosphere.

Super atmosphere

By tania g |

Ate here on our first night in New York, recommended by our hotel and did not disappoint ! Best ravioli I've ever tasted , and the guys who serve the food were super friendly and welcoming .

Delicious food and great service

By Guillermo A |

Near the Empire State, this restaurant has really good food, affordable prices and extraordinary customer service 10/10

Excellent as always

By Ed C |

This establishment cannot be beat. Excellent slices as well as pasta dishes. Food is always hot and delicious no matter if during lunch or when using the dining room at dinner time. I have tried various pies as well as other dishes and have been impressed with them each time especially considering the price and the level of service they provide.

Enjoyable Italian Food

By Keith D |

This restaurant is right across from The Roger hotel, and a convenient walk. Smaller restaurant space, with a long dining room. Nice pasta options and drink menu, although double check which wine you’re really getting. We ordered a bottle of Italian Chardonnay but an Australian was substituted. Small staff so service was a touch spotty.

Wonderful Little Gem of an Italian Restaurant

By gillianc293 |

Ended my stay in NYC by finding this wonderful little "mom and pop" Italian Restaurant with an awesome atmosphere where the staff made you feel like family and the food was wonderful! It was an overall fabulous experience and easy on the pocketbook too!! All the staff were beyond friendly and hospitable (but never overly so) and Ed was super sweet and helpful. The food was fabulous and I will definitely be back next time I'm in NYC.

Tasteful food, very kind staff

By NenadR_Serbia |

We visited this nice Italian restaurant in autumn 2019. Food was very good (generally the basic menu) and the staff was great - very kind and helpful. When we returned to NYC we visited Bella Napoli again and everything was the same - very good. Special thanks to Tony and Karim - we hope you are well.

If you like bland food, this should be your "go-to"place!

By fitzlpatrick |

Decided to eat here as it was just across Madison Avenue from my hotel. Big mistake. While the waitstaff was friendly, it was obvious they were understaffed for the amount of patrons dining. Only two waitstaff and the restaurant was quite crowded which was surprising given the quality of the food. I had to go to the bar twice to get additional glasses of wine. But what was really disappointing was the food. $7 small caesar salad that tasted like romaine avec ranch! The eggplant parmigiana, while a nice sized portion, was totally bland and essentially tasteless. Perhaps their pizza and/or other dishes were better but my recommendation would be that if you go, do NOT order either the Caesar salad or eggplant parmigiana!

Perfectly Italian!

By LilMissMira |

Great food and great wine! I've been a few times and everything from the pizza to the salads and pasta are amazing. The staff is attentive and kind. The environment is perfect, right down to the owner with his strong New York Italian accent. This place makes me feel right at home. I make sure to stop here every time in I'm NY.

Excellent

By slr2015 |

We visited Bella Napoli last week when we were in NYC. We were in the Empire State Building and one of the employees asked what we were doing after the tour. We said we were going to get something to eat, do you recommend something around here? And she said this place and how to get there. It doesn't look like much from the outside, we almost walked by it. And inside isn't that exciting either. But the service and the food were excellent. We had Tony serving us, because he said his waiter went on break. Had a laugh about that. He was great, typical Italian New Yorker, loved it. He brought us three bowls of bread. He asked if we had a coupon. I looked in my coupon book but there wasn't one for there. He hands a 10% off coupon and he says now you do. My one other daughter got lasagne, the other one got spaghetti and meatballs, my husband stuffed chicken and salad and I got the seafood pasta. All were excellent. He told us his brother Carlo was going to be taking over because he was going home. We continued chatting with Carlo until we left. Enjoying the food as much as the company. Highly recommend if you were in the vicinity of the Empire State Building, or even if you're not!

Late Night Pizza - YUM!

By Pamela |

Happened upon this place while walking back to our Hotel from Central Park. We got two slices of Cheese Pizza for $2.75 each. It was really good! Staff & Service were wonderful!

Great local eats, atmosphere at a very reasonable price

By formykids135 |

This place seems to fit everything you could want! It's nice and large for a group, but could also be a good spot for a couple. The food was delicious and very reasonable for NYC. We visited Bella Napoli with a large group on a Friday evening. We pre-ordered from a limited menu, and they served us quickly with great food. The single pizza was almost as big as a medium would be at a chain pizza place, I had rigatoni which was excellent. Of our 5-day trip, the group agreed this was one of the favorite spots.

Excellent service and good food.

By DJM1945 |

The service was very good and very efficient but the decor was tired and needed upgrading. Disappointed that the nice tablecloth was covered with paper. The food was, however, good and it was good value.

Italian Cultural feeling

By Karlo R |

Soon as I walked in I was greeted and ask would me and my Family would like to stay for dinner and that felt like family, just that strong Italian New York accent. Then the food looked and tasted like my families cooking, very good highly recommend

My first New York pizza

By Carter N |

You can smell the Italian goodness when you walk inside. We went to the counter and placed our orders. We had to get several different toppings on the pizza but it was not a problem as you can order by the slice as well as a whole pie. The slices are large. And of course I had to eat mine the "New York" way. I thought they were moderately priced so you probably won't have sticker shock when paying your bill. They have a good menu and a few different beers to choose from if that is your choice of beverage. I also noticed they have wine too. Definitely give them a try.

Not bad

By T C |

If you want a no frills personal pizza, this place is for you. Food was decent. A little dark inside for lunchtime in my opinion

Favorite

Favorite NYC pizza. Visited on multiple occasions. Will be back next time I'm in NYC. friendly, reasonable, good food. :)

Great NYC Italian Food and Service

By Peter Patti R |

While we were taking a walk through NYC this fall we came across the Bella Napoli Italian restaurant on Madison Ave. It is a quaint place with good food at a decent price. For us what highlighted our dining experience was our waitress, Mariem. Though not Italian herself or a native New Yorker, she made us feel like we had been invited into her own home. If you go, enjoy the cuisine, but if you ask for Mariem, you will be well taken care of.

Good pizza, friendly staff

By Pasquale287 |

We was near from Bella Napoli and at night, tired, taked out pizza to hotel. Pepperoni was tasty, I recomend. The staff always is friendly.

THE BEST EVER

By JanellCraig |

We found this amazing Italian restaurant wandering the streets of New York! It was the best Italian we have ever had! We had homemade bread w a delicious dipping sauce, spaghetti & meatballs & Vongole linguini. Our waiter was a young man named Tony & he was lovely & very attentive! Highly recommend if you want authentic Italian food!!!

Traditional NY PIZZA with good selection

By TDRetired22 |

If you want a quick stop to pick up a slice. Give them a try. Good selection already for you to try. Has about 10 different choices ready all the time. Doesn’t skimp on toppings either.

Good value, great service

By Olivier B |

The food is very good for the price, and the service is very exceptionnal. I recommend this place to everyone. Don't leave without tasting their cheesecake.

Not good enough

By Ola-Mara |

We had pasta with my 10y old son. I had linguine aglio olio which was barely eatable. Raw garlics with boiling water. My son had rigatoni bolognese which was okay. Pasta was well cooked and sauce was good enough, but not excellent. Service was pollite and organized. I don't recommend.

Great food--staff was semi-indifferent

By LUOPX |

As my title states, the food was very good. I recommend the eggplant. The staff was hard to find at times and when you did locate them, they were

Fantastic Dinner

By Tony R |

We tried the lasagna, chicken parmigiana, spaghetti & meatballs, and pasta e fagioli. Everything was delicious. I absolutely recommend this restaurant.

A nice Italian restaurant

By Takerholm |

We went here on a Monday afternoon so it was pretty empty. We got served fast and my lasagne was above average from what you usually get at a restaurant. It had a lot of cheese and tomato sauce, so it wasn't dry. My mom's pasta came served in a pizza crust bowl (?) thing, which I had never seen before in an Italian restaurant. It actually worked quite well and made Bella Napoli more memorable. The fact that you got a discount by paying with cash instead of a card seemed a bit dodgy, especially since this was told at the very end, after already giving your card to the waiter. It would be nice if this was told when the bill arrived, not later.

Good food

By bruce t |

Was there tonight for a quick late dinner with my wife. Nothing fancy but very friendly and down home place. Some nice italian wines and hot fresh baked bread. I had the chicken Francaise and my wife had the chicken marsala. Both very tender and tasty. Pasta with garlic, oil and fresh basil. Good steady place.

A tasty pizza breakfast

By Semperpronto |

This was least pretentious and most flavorsome pizzeria we encountered in NYC. We had a slice each straight out of the oven for a quick breakfast and a friendly chat with the proprietor as we ate before heading for JFK. We had a mushroom and a vegetable slice. Both delocious.

Needs Help !!

By christine c |

Not the cleanest of places. The Board of Health had rated it poorly over the past year. The establishment hid the Letter Grade behind a billboard for a while. When it was finally restored to an "A" rating, they proudly displayed the sign in the front entrance door. I personally saw bugs in there on too many occasions. Not the place for me!! Sorry,

Wonderful Italian food

By UDuckling |

Came based on recommendation from Hyatt Herald Square. Enjoyed delicious food and great service. Can't wait to go back during next visit to NYC.

A quiet night and dinner

By Bojan V |

We got here after a long day spent walking in NY and it was the closest Italian place among all the Korean restaurants. My kids are pasta lovers and we had to try. The food was good, kids took pizzas and pasta, while we took some meat meals. All was delicious, one of the waiters was from my area and kids liked it to hear someone who did not speak English with them. Maybe a bit dark place, not great interior, however food was good.

Not bad. S

Informal place. Reasonable prices. The food is OK. The salad I got was very good. The baked lasagna was just OK. Not really what I think of as baked.

Italian feeling in New York - molte grazie Toni!

By Roger B |

Great thanks to Toni! and also to the Lexington hotel who told us to go over there! we really had a great time! Great Coctail and very good wine. The antipasti was subleme and also great meals! We were there to celebrate the 50th anniversary of my wife and we will never forget. You made us feel part of the family. If we come back to NY, we certainly come to visit you! Regards. Roger and Fidelita

Worst meal we had in New York

By Peter C |

Restaurant looked fine from outside but once inside it was a different matter. Unclean, run down appearance with dirty washrooms. Service was very slow and poor. Waited ages for order to be taken when restaurant wasn't even busy. No interest shown as to whether everything was ok. Food average at best. House salad came with a cheap acidic balsamic vinegar as a dressing. Not given or offered complimentary bread and oil. Check came with 20% tip already included. On way out no acknowledgment or 'goodnight' even though we did! Overall very poor experience. Would not return - far better Italian restaurants in New York.

Good value fare

By ErniH |

First night in New York and saw this place near hotel. Originally going to get take out but decided to just sit in. Waiter really nice. Took our orders quickly lasagne pizza - which was absolutely delish! And very large salad with lots of stuff in it. Good value for money and in hindsight we should have maybe gone back, as it turned out to be one of the best value tasty meals we had

The Winner Is.

By Steve R |

Slice by slice we ate our way through NYC pizza places. A couple came out on top as delicious, great crusts, cheesey goodness, Just like you've seen in the movies or heard about, there's still some throw the dough is the air as it spins and stretches. When the spinning is done it's smoothered in good stuff, baked in a hot pizza oven, and out pops a great slice of pizza. This is one of those places.

Quintessential NYC lunch spot

By Tony F |

If you're visiting NYC and going to the Empire State Building, do yourself a favor and grab lunch at Bella Napoli on 31st & Madison. It's not the best pizza or Italian food in the city but it's rock solid and you will experience a New York lunch like a New Yorker. The pizza is very good, as are the entrees they serve cafeteria style. It's also very inexpensive considering the quality. But the best thing about this particular Bella Napoli location is its' New York-ness. When you come here for lunch you see New Yorkers in their element, taking a few minutes out of their hectic day to chow down. The decor of the place is old school NY Italian and looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. The lighting is dim but don't worry if you can't see every detail of what's on your plate, it's good. The staff is diverse and filled with characters, especially the guy at the register at the end of the entree line. Straight out of Central Casting and not the least bit shy about making his opinions known. A true New York experience!

My daughter and i had a good wholesome italian meal at Bella Napoli. Huge portions , marinara sauce was tasty as and the chicken parm was delicious and lots of it the linguine was excellent ... very reasonable prices !!! Will definately make a return visit .

Cozy night

By martariverallorens |

It's such a delightful restaurant! Fantastic food, outstanding service, great entertainment (singer is in on Saturdays). Baked meatballs with sauce is a must order, homemade cooking The pepperoni pizza was amazing! The pesto pasta delicious too. We had such a wonderful time!

Lovely place and lovely meal!

By PineappleClo |

My mum and I had purchased city passes and alongside this came the option to eat here for a deal. It was close to our hotel so we headed for dinner one night. The staff were very lovely and attentive, and the food was fantastic. It tasted fresh and looked as good as it tasted. There was live jazz music with a man playing the saxophone which really added to the atmosphere! Would definitely return here.

Real Family Italian

Looks can be deceiving , older style classy Italian , just like you are in the family home , good range of food basic drink list .

Great find near hotel

By wisgirl01 |

I stumbled upon Bella Napoli on my way back to hotel after several hours of exploring Mid-town. The service was so friendly and it smelled wonderful! I got a piece of spinach stromboli and a slice of pizza to bring back to my room, and both were wonderful! The server was very friendly, and provided utensils and marinara sauce for dipping :) I would love to actually have a meal here next time I am in NYC.

Great food and great service!

By ladypounduk |

Popped in for a quick dinner with my daughters and sister. Food was delicious and the service was friendly, fast and polite. The pizzas were amazing, the pasta (two of us had the meatballs) was perfect and the salad and calamari yummy. It would be really nice to see them update the decor as I think it's a terrific restaurant and that is (imo) the only thing that lets down this lovely place.

Good place for a quick slice of good pizza

By Bernie O |

On our way to MSG, we saw this as a quick solution to a light snack. Three of us decided that a slice of pizza and a drink was perfect after having a very big lunch. Two of us were happy with Buffalo Chicken pizza and the third enjoy her veggie slice. Quick way for a slice or two of pizza

No, no, no

By QueensParkDan |

How much tasteless soft cheese can you load onto one small pizza? Well, if you don't know the answer to that, try coming to this restaurant. There's clearly no upper limit. Instead of a pizza, this was a mucky wreck of soft cheese on a now-soggy base. Tomato? Could barely find any. Extra ordered toppings? Again, lost in a sea of tasteless goo. What's wrong with you guys?

Okay

By pctrainer |

Ok pizza. Ok wine. Ok service. Just ok. Nothing memorable about the visit. It meets the basic needs, isn’t pricey but you could do better with a little look around.

Great Food

By Jamon A |

I can't remember the name of the salad I had here, but it was excellent. Ask the server. He'll tell you which one is popular. Apparently, they're known for it. Anyway, reasonable prices, and everyone at the table was happy with the food. Even the gluten-free pizza was excellent, and that's says a lot!

Really good lunch pizza

By matte w |

Lunch pizza was excellent and the restaurant is clean and nice. Cheap as well. Good service and good sortiment of beers

Pizza is perfect

By Sgrdn3 |

If you like crispy, thin crust pizza, this place does it right, The cheese and sauce are top- notch and compliment a perfect crust. We only had pizza, and that's what we'll have next time, and next time and next...Nice atmosphere and pleasant staff. Oh yea, a decent cheap glass of wine as well to go with your pizza.

Great pizza

By barrington594 |

We went there couple of days ago The pizza was excellent I'd defiantly go back again Service was friendly but a little slow

Great Italian Restaurant on Madison Ave.

By Sonja C |

Took a friend of mine from out of town, they were six of us. First time for all of us to Bella Napoli. We all truly enjoyed our meal and the employees that work there are very friendly and professional. Very reasonably priced food and wine. Plus the wine pour is very generous, not compared to restaurants in midtown where they charge anywhere from $12-$14 and your glass is not enough half full. We all agreed that we would go back. Try it, you will love it.

Wonderful soup!

By Ramona |

While in New York I went to eat here 4 days in a row for dinner because of the Minestrone soup. I simply loved it and food was great and clean everything we had. The garlic bread is to kill for too. Great service too, I recommend to try it once, you might fall in love too. Warning: it's addicting ! I will be back!

Bella Napoli should be Good Time Napoli

By RPF1966 |

You ever pass a restaurant on the street and wonder should I or shouldn't I go in because you don't know what you are going to get? Such was the case when I was staying at the Roger Hotel. Bella Napoli is located right across the street from the Roger at Madison and 31st. After dining out at some really eclectic and well reviewed places in New York, I kept passing this little restaurant across the street whether in the morning or evening and kept wondering what it was all about. So on my last day in NYC I decided to throw caution to the wind and pop in for an early dinner. The décor was a rustic Italian look. As such it was a good start. The owners were Italian and came to our table. He started talking about Sicilian Eggplants and how making soup with these long, green vegetables was a lost tradition on the young. Given I'm only 50 I suddenly felt old cuz I knew a little too much about Sicilian Eggplant recipes. The discussions and ambiance were entertaining. The food was good old fashioned, no nonsense Italian food using fresh ingredients. Pizzas and pastas were very good. Out of all restaurants the we went to in New York, we had the best time there just hours before we left. The two supersized cocktails didn't hurt either. Two thumbs up!!!!?

A gem

By Denise H |

Great clams casino and eggplant rolatini Waiter a bit harried but well worth it. Marinara very good I'm almost at 100 characters I hope

CityPass

By Lydia2121 |

Friendly staff. Reasonably priced if in area. Had pasta this was okay, we went here as included in tourist pass. Filling and nice garlic bread. If I come again I would have pizza as this looked nice.

First meal EVER in New York.

By Helen B |

We went to Bella Napoli because it was recommended to us by someone at our hotel. We'd had a long day travelling and wanted somewhere local to eat. Even though the location is very central, the food was really authentic and tasted great. The portions were huge and the price was very reasonable. We'd visited Rome earlier in the year but this Italian food was better than anything we ate there. The staff were attentive and Tony was really friendly and gave us lots of tips on how to get the most out of our first visit to New York. Even though we're only visiting for a few days, I think Bella Napoli might get another visit from us.

Nice Italian Meal

By Global Trekking |

Me and my wife enjoyed dinner on our honeymoon in New York City at this restaurant we ordered 3 entrees to share for dinner lasagna spaghetti and ravioli it was very delicious and authentic the service was excellent. Highly recommend anyone visiting the city looking for a good Italian experience

Great Italian

By Djdave1978 |

My wife and I were staying at the nearby Hotel Chandler and popped in here for an evening meal. I had the Spaghetti Carbonara and the wife had the Pesto Gnocchi. Both meals were excellent accompanied by some of the best cheesey garlic bread I have ever had. We returned a couple of nights later for a massive 18" takeaway pizza which was excellent also. So big that we had to share it with the hotel staff. Good customer service, food and location. Price was excellent considering the location in Manhattan. Thanks Bella Napoli.

Good food, European Speed Service

By lmricheson12 |

Pizza to go in the front and small dining room in the back. Friendly staff and tasty eats. Calamari appetizer was lovely and we enjoyed the pizza and pasta dishes we chose. Service is slow - very indicative of a real Italian restaurant in Rome, Venice, Florence, etc. Worth a try if you are staying in the area.

Fine

By Max G |

Bella napole was quite good. The appetizers were very good, my personal favorite was the calamari which was breaded well and made it crunchy while not having it be too heavy. The main courses seemed quite good but for myself I only had the margarita pizza which was okay. The crust was great and the cheese was fresh but it fell apart easily and got soggy quickly making it difficult to eat. The location was pretty crappy on the outside but inside it was great. Brick walls, good lighting. However there was a guitarist who was quite loud and made conversation difficult. The food was very good and I would definitely eat there again. This is a great place to eat if you are in the neighborhood.

With Frank ( our waiter) and the owner on the right. They all make you feel like family. We will go again soon!!

By Laura A |

Awesome meal and the staff are incredible. Little Italy in Savannah. The cuisine is authentic and the presentation is unbelievable. The wine glass flipping is worth ordering a bottle of wine. La Dolce Vita!!!!

Wonderful Meal!

By ShadesFan |

We visited Bella Napoli based on the reviews on Trip Advisor and we were extremely pleased. Tony, our waiter, was extremely personable and helpful in choosing an entree. Then he brought us some "to die for" bread that was so hot out of the oven we had to wait for it to cool off to eat it! This was followed by a dinner that was delicious. It is obvious that this is a family owned business where everyone cares about each person's experience. We never felt rushed and felt like part of the family while we were there. It's a small restaurant and we were worried about having to wait for a table. We called just before we left our hotel 2 blocks away and they said they would hold a spot for us as if we were coming to their home for dinner! Great food, great atmosphere and tremendous service! Highly recommended.

Awful food and even worse service

By Iain O |

I hate giving bad reviews but this was so bad I can't let other people fall into the same trap. Went with my family (6 of us) as we were staying in the hotel across the street. When we arrived we were given drinks by what I assume was a manager or owner. This was the best part by quite a distance. He wasn't there long and I assume had he been around our night out may have been quite different. I had the mozzarella sticks to start and they were fine. Nothing special but they were fine. I had the meatballs for a main. I asked for cutlery when they arrived as mine had been cleared with the starters. 15 minutes and three reminders to the waiter later I was able to eat my food. When I tried my meatballs I kind of wished he hadn't bothered with the cutlery. They tasted either frozen or old or something and the overly sweet sauce on them didn't help matters. When the waiter asked if I liked it and I said no he just stood there and said OK, this seemed to be his go to line as his English wasn't great. When I went to the bathroom I had to walk around a number of bicycles to get there and there was a dirty mop in a bucket beside the toilet (photo below). I really can't get all of the negatives into words here as it was a terrible experience, as someone at our table said "the whole place is like a before shot in Kitchen Nightmares". I really hope we just went on a bad night but from the dowdy decor, wobbly table and bad food, I doubt it some how.

Excellent casual Italian

By kjff |

Fine traditional Italian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. Pastas, pizzas, calzones, salads, savory and sweet pastries. Dining room in rear. Wine/beer. Moderate prices. Food and service very good. Additional take out items up front at counter service. Street parking if you can find it in Midtown Manhattan.

Lovely Italian Restaurant near Empire State Building

By 62DG |

Visited Bella Napoli using our NY Sightseeing pass which gave us a main meal (entree) with pasta or salad and a soft drink. We ordered a Chicken Valdostana (cheese stuffed chicken breast served with a sauce, spinach and red peppers) with linguine and an Allo Vodka which was penne pasta with bacon, onions, ham, mushrooms with a cream vodka sauce and a salad, the meals came with freshly baked garlic rolls and two soft drinks (choice of cola, juice or water), the food was delicious and was piping hot and freshly cooked. We were offered extra garlic bread if we wanted it, this was probably the best meal during our week long stay in New York and if we had longer in the city, we would visit the restaurant again.

So Good! Legitimate Italian eat in or take out!!

By Bethany T |

Found this place around the corner from our hotel. Such delicious food, I had the pesto gnocchi and my husband had the ravioli. Everything tasted from scratch. The bread was still warm when served to our table.

Simple Italian Food - Well Made

By Ste7373 |

This restaurant is nothing special on first impression. The staff were friendly and the food is simple Italian food that has the "Home Cooked" feel. The portions are good and the quality is great. We had Lasagne and Bacon Carbonara which tasted great. Really this is a hidden gem and well worth the visit if you are in the area. There is also a take out menu for the same food.

Don't miss it.

By Kjwachtel |

I was staying at the Carlton Hotel at 88 Madison and had the cravings for some New York pizza. Walked up the street a little ways and ran into Bella Napoli. I hesitated, but went in. It is the real deal. Lots of different pies to select slices from, got the pepperoni and it was just what I was wanting. Huge slice for just $2.85, crazy. Plus bottled beer for $3.65 - same beer that is like $10 at the hotel. The do all kinds of pasta and sandwiches that looked fantastic as well. I will definitely go back and try some other dishes.

Needs attention

By ross r |

I can not fault the food or service at all , we were a party of 10 and every single person loved the food they ordered ! There was loads of it and we even had some boxed up to take away because we couldn’t finish it Bad point tho was the state of the ceiling ! Looked like it could use a scrub and probably could do with having all of the ceiling tiles replaced.

Lovely!

By xjenniex2006 |

Lovely little Italian! We visited the night we arrived in NY as we were staying over the street at The Roger and had walked to and from Time Square not being able to decide where to eat. Being up for near in 24 hours and being grumpy at having to find somewhere to eat we were pleasantly surprised. We just had a pizza to share, I had 2 glasses of wine husband had 2 beers and the bill was $39. Great value and the pizza was everything I'd dreamt Ny pizza would be. Service was good.

Amazing food and a friendly place to enjoy it

By slj |

My daughter and I were visiting New York for the day and got caught in a terrible rain storm. We were drowned all the way through and it was still pouring. We wanted some pizza and happened to walk by this restaurant.. We felt bad going in because we were soaked and dripping wet. They welcomed us in and told us to sit down and warm up. We got some food and drinks at the front counter and sat down at one of the front tables and enjoyed the best lasagna pizza and chicken parm rolls. They told us we could pay before we left because we were basically drooling on the front counter and hoping to try some more. Sadly one piece of pizza was enough to fill me. If there hadn't been a monsoon raging outside, and we didn't have to get across town in rush hour to catch our bus home I guarantee we would have brought at least one pizza home. Our next trip to NYC this will be my first stop.

This Aussie loved the Sopranos-style menu!!!

By foodometer |

Bella Napoli was recommended by someone at our hotel and we were not disappointed!! Being from Australia where we don't really do spaghetti and meatballs, and having always heard of it, I was keen to try. Wow! The marinara sauce is superb. My son says it's "almost as good as Nonna's" which is very high praise. I really wanted to try the manicotti and the ziti but stayed true to the craving. Son had the Capellini Marinara. They served incredible hot bread rolls first up, hand made and rolled with garlic, herbs and parmesan, which came with dipping oil loaded with flavour. We also tried their excellent pizza, with fantastic crust and that wonderful marinara sauce. Tony is a warm, funny guy who clearly loves meeting the customers and taking a genuine interest. Lots of stories, some laughs and tons of passion. Good looking guy too with that awesome NYC accent. Decor is slowly undergoing a makeover but hey, it's cute and nostalgic. Reminds me of dinners out as a kid where the table is loud and the food is great! Really enjoyed our dinner and we expect to come back soon for a plate of ziti.

Forget it for food

By bavariaalex |

terrible food, dark and shabby location, nothing to do with bella Italia ! Even for a quick bite absolutely not recommendable

Great Italian Food

I went there twice with my family last time we were in NYC. Love the place - both the service and the food. I will definately go thera again.

A Flawless Experience

By Al R |

We were at the Empire State Building and knew that we were heading to dinner after so we asked an employee where to go. She sent us to Bella Napoli. At first we thought we had walked into a buffet but we sat down anyway. Tony is the owner and his waiter was on break, He made me laugh and treated us so very well. I loved his New York accent and he made sure we had a great meal. I think I had the Valdostana (Chicken stuffed with prosciutto, spinach, cheese in a roasted pepper sauce) and it completely knocked my socks off. Pricing was reasonable, service was flawless and the enjoyment factor was 11 out of 10! Highly recommended. Tony, hope to see you again, perhaps if you are at your cottage in Canada!

Dinner

By Shirley E |

We stopped at this restaurant on Madison Avenue for our dinner. The staff were very friendly, and explained the menu the best they could. The food arrived and looked tasty and appetising, but unfortunately it wasn’t very hot, so it took the shine off the meal. The chicken was quite tough too, and the lemon sauce was very sharp, but perhaps that my taste buds rather than sauce.

Great find

By ZEDTalks |

We were recommended the Bella Napoli by the Hotel 32|32 concierge and are happy he sent us here. This is a wonderful family-owned restaurant, so rare in today's big-box, corporate, cookie-cutter restaurant world. We will go back to enjoy the excellent food, hospitality and service from Tony, the owner, and his staff. From the fresh, hot bread to the tomato and mozzarella salad to the baked lasagna and tortellini with Bolognese sauce, everything was delicious and amply portioned. This is not haute cuisine, but it is top-notch, quality Italian family comfort food.

Had a lovely lunch on a recent visit to Nyc. Food, staff and cost all exceptional. Food was very tasty and fresh! Would recommend this restaurant.

Great Food Friendly Service

By TheMahaWarwick |

Visited here on our last day in New York, we had a few vouchers left from the bus tour. The food was excellent and really filling. The guy managing the restaurant was very nice he made us feel so welcome and couldn't do enough for us. The pizza slices are massive and the lasagne was one of the best I have tasted. If you find yourself down the bottom end of Maddison Ave pop in its well worth it.

It was great- all the food and staff especially Tony was marvelous

By Liz T |

This is a great place- Tony congratulations! There were 6 of us and everyone enjoyed their meals. Tony was marvelous from the moment I walked in.

Don't Miss This!

By joyinsouthafrica |

We came to New York to renew a Visa and Sam from our hotel suffered this place. We wanted a nice, slow, quiet evening that we didn't have to talk over the music. Enter Bella Napoli! The meal started with bread that was fresh out of the oven served with olive oil and spices. Next came the Bella Napoli salad, their signature, and OMG....delicious! Fresh greens, olives, peppers, sun-dried tomato, mozzarella cheese and the unexpected flavor of eggplant that had been sliced thin, sprinkled with sugar and made absolutely over the top delicious!! I had the chicken parmigiana with linguine...my plate was hot, huge and awesome! So many "Italian restaurants smother the food in sauce. Not here. Here they put just the right amount! My husband had the chicken scarpariello and, I quote, "I could lick this plate!" Chicken sautéed with garlic, rosemary, mushrooms, peppers, onions, potato, in a light brown sauce with a touch of balsamic. I noticed a review on here that spoke of them not wanting to be helpful because the people were tourists. This was NOT our experience! Our experience was quite the opposite. They were helpful and interested in our stay. I would say do not miss this real Italian gem! It's worth the stop!!

Best BONELESS Chicken Wings in town!

By cdehaertig |

I was very frustrated with the boneless chicken wings at "Wings Bistro" since their owner failed to admit that they were providing "fake" wings to their clients. They were basically frying large cubes of chicken breasts, impossible to chew and swallow. Bella Napoli made my day today!! They truly serve delicious, tender and juicy boneless chicken wings to everyone's delight. I would recommend it to everyone in town!

Not bad if they get it to you hot.

By Tim Bam |

This is a local restaurant that I have been using for at least 10 years. Up until recently my experience had been good. The last few times my experience has been horrible. I normally order pizza to be delivered. The last few have been luke warm at best. Today I called the store back after the cold pizza was delivered. I spoke to the manager because something isn't right. The first thing he said was I won't charge you for the pizza. I told him I paid cash and gave the guy a $5.00 tip. Now mind you this restaurant is less than a block and a half from my house. So it can't be to much to expect a hot pizza from somewhere that close. It would also help if they got a manager who understands customer service.

Bells Napoli on park avenue

By philwhite2016 |

The staff were very nice and courteous. The surroundings were a little dark and the table a little small. The food was ok.

Happily Old Fashioned

By Michael K |

This place reminded me of the good old neighborhood Italian restaurants I grew up with in Brooklyn. Nice setting, sassy and friendly staff who knew a lot of their customers and wanted to get to know the newbies. Reasonable prices, good solid food, left with a smile on my face.

Great food & brilliant service

By Rachael Penn |

Decided to give Bella Napoli a try when we couldn't get in to a restaurant around the corner and we were so pleased that we couldn't. The meal was absolutely delicious and one of the best Italians I've had in a LONG time. The service was also top notch. Next time I'm in NYC I'll be returning!

Good value Italian food in NYC.

By Rob B |

This restaurant was opposite our hotel and was available for a quick meal before the theatre whereas other restaurants nearer Broadway were fully booked. Whilst the decor and general state of the restaurant was very tired, the food and service were excellent. Drinks were realistically priced compared to other NYC restaurants. Not a place for a special occasion but a great place for good food.

Great Pizza, Pasta and Appetizers

By Ralph F |

Impromptu family get together in the neighborhood. Awesome sauces ... red fresh and sweet, robust vodka, beautiful pesto, carbonara like Rome. Perfect fried calamari, and the best baked clams. Go.

Great Pizza thin, tasty, best so far

By JustAddWater |

I have been to this restaurant 3 times in August. The best meal that i had was the pizza. The service is so so the food is great, ambiance is calm. Did i say the pizza was the best that i had including the ones in Italy? Would go again.

Great Italian food with great service

Food is excellent we took the stuffed chicken and spaghetti marinade with chicken and mushrooms recommended. The food came quickly too

No frills but very nice food

By DIANE P |

Hi This restaurant is basic but well worth a visit. We all had a different pizza and they were all tasty with plenty topping. The waiter was very pleasant and the service was good given he was the only one serving about 20+diners. Very reasonably priced for New York.

Real good pizza, but rude employee

By Shireen H |

We were running late to a broadway show when we passed right in front this place and I was starving, so I decided to crab a slice of pizza and run. I chose one with eggplants on top, surprisingly it was sooo delicious, wasn't sure if that's because I was so hungry, but my husband took a bite and he agreed. The eggplants might be pre grilled or something. I'd say that it is the best pizza in new york but I haven't tried them all. My only complain is about the person who served us, he was so grumpy and rude!

Cold food at the Hot table

By warren161 |

Restaurant could use an update, very dark. The staff was friendly and we thoroughly enjoyed the antics going on behind the counter. The food from the lunch hot table was cold, the fish had an iodine taste. The Caesar salad was good, small portion of grilled chicken. I would not recommend this restaurant or return.

Good pizza, but no wine

By Absolutaries |

Our hotel concierge suggested this place for authentic NY pizza. The pizza was amazing - crispy light crust BUT they have a whole wine list but don't actually have the wine available. I would give this 3.5 stars as the pizza itself was above average.

Awful

By Rachael B |

Me and my husband fancied a taste of Italy while visiting New York. I can safely say it's the worst pasta I have ever tasted. My carbonara sauce had curdled and the sauce was just butter with onions. My husbands tasted as if it was out of a ready meal. Service was poor, we asked for extra bread and they gave it to the next table. When we asked for a refill of our drinks they took really long to bring it to us. Note to everyone- if you're English don't bother. We asked about the specials as an American couple did and they got a free bowl of spaghetti, we were told there wasn't any. Website said there was a special $9.95 on all pasta on a Sunday but when we asked he said deliveries only although not stated on the website. Will definitely not be going back.

Yum!

By Tara M |

We are Bostonians that were visiting NYC for a few days and this restaurant was recommended to us. The food was delicious and our server Tony was incredibly nice and attentive. Tony even brought us out a complimentary salad & it was soooo yummy! I ordered the penne a la vodka and it was fantastic. My sister and mom also both had very good meals. The drinks were quite large - I ordered something with limoncello in it and it was so good & the glass was huge! The prices are incredibly reasonable, especially by New York standards! Definitely recommend! We all tend to be a bit picky about food too, and this place surpassed my expectations. Will visit again when I go back to NYC.

Take out...

By Food meister |

It started off good, nice on the phone while I ordered I recived the food in a timely manner I opened my appetizer of fried zucchini.. Out standing..then I open the chicken dish. Of Chicken Sareparillo very disappointed 4 little pieces of chicken swimming in a balsamic sauce .. the pasta boellinase had cream in it.not sopposed to.... If your just having fried zucchini your good...

Great value, good food

By BenandAli |

Didn't seem like it was going to go well when most of the staff didn't know about the City Pass deal where a free lunch is one of the options. However they soon found the manager who made us very welcome. Food was fresh and hot, portions generous and they even went to a shop to get my daughter the juice she wanted! Loved the New York Italian accents too! A great place to go, even if you have to pay!

Tony Soprano performance

By Sabine D |

The food wasn't bad, but the show was great! The chef of the restaurant did an excellent imitation of Tony Soprano by snapping at his staff. I first thought this was hidden camera but no, this was reality!! Even when the clients were eating he didn't stop yelling at them.

Some of the best pizza in NYC

By Allison H |

When we visit New York we make sure we stop here every time. The pizza is phenomenal. The menu is basic but great value and honestly the wine is pretty good. But back to the pizza....enjoy every bite. In this day and age eating carbs takes commitment so don’t waste them on bad pizza. Say hello to Tony!

Good food, poor service

By PaulaJeanH |

The pizza and pasta carbonara we had were excellent, but service was sporadic and slow. We waited a long time before anyone acknowleged us, even though the place was empty.

Great Food, Slow Service

By FamilyFun4Kids |

All the reviews are right.. service bad (and by bad, I mean super slow on the restaurant side), food good. Don't go here if you are in a hurry to get out, or opt for a quick pizza slice at the front of the restaurant. We had cheese favs and the sauce was really tasty. Pizza was on par with what you would expect for New York. We are from Arizona, so virtually any NYC pizza pleases us!

GREAT FOOD!

This is a small family owned business with years of experience. The food is wonderful and the service is great and location is safe and friendly. We actually went there for pizza one day and returned a couple of days later for dinner. The prices are good and we will go back when we vist NYC again. :) They also have "to go" food as well as pizza ready made to buy by the slice.

Inedible

If I could leave zero stars I would. Ordered 2 small pizzas delivered. Buffalo chicken and Meatlovers. The buffalo chicken was so zesty and sour that after forcing down one slice we had to throw the rest away. The sausage on the meatlovers was revolting and honestly where is the cheese??? What a waste of money!!!

Suggested to us by the concierge of the hotel I was staying in, this was not around the corner from the hotel and in fact we walked past 10 other pizza places easily on our way.It was FREEZING cold this day and my work mate suggested that we stop in any number of the other places, but I was determined to check this place out. We broke down and spent $5 bucks for some NYC souvenir knit hats so our brains didn't freeze to get here. First off I didn't do what I normally do and just get 2 slices of plain. That is my go-to move in NYC pizzerias as that is the true test of NYC Pizza. I got one pepperoni and one that was a combo. The pepperoni was GREAT really great, perfect crisp on the crust, excellent sauce, cannot say enough good things. The combo slice was soggy and after one bit I knew I had to send it back. They didn't argue, I said just give me a plain slice, they protested that i paid for the combo, "don't care, plain please keep the extra cash". PERFECT.this is the only way to test NYC pizza still is,although the pepperoni slice was awesome too. My work mate of course will not listen to me (one of those types) and she got a odd-ball eggplant that she was just giggy with. She insisted I try it, it was good. I made her try the plain, she then understood why you do that. While we were eating we watched the owner/manager as he was speaking in Italian look over all the other foods they had prepared. They all looked and smelled wonderful and if only time and stomach could have supported it I would have tried any number of other items. This place is cheap but really really good. Highly recommended.

We visited thus restaurant as it was on our pass and we have booked a ten attraction pass. It was not appealing to enter and we almost walked back out but we were hungry and there. I ordered two glasses of wine at 10 dollars a small glass. It tasted like vinegar and we couldn't drink it. We then ordered two pastas and garlic bread. The pasta was similar to Tesco Tesco with tinned tomatoes on top and the garlic bread was a burnt bread roll. Avoid this place. This trip cost me 35 dollars including tips and tax and I couldn't eat or drink a thing.

Had to go back and find it again

In 2011 we stumbled upon this jewel and had the most amazing peperoni pizza on a freezing winter's night. It was so good that the first meal we wanted when we returned to New York now in 2016 was peperoni pizza from a restaurent we had no idea where to find or what it was called. We searched the side streets and eventually spotted our favourite mystery restaurent. Bella Napoli did not dissapoint this time either. The place is packed but every customer is treated as equals. The food is generous and good. This will become a definite stop every time we visit NYC.

Excellent lunch

Amazing slices with excellent flavor for a reasonable price. This is an amazing place to grab some slices or pasta dishes when working in midtown. The staff are always very friendly and the pies are always amazing. I am always impressed by the quality of the food here no matter if vising for lunch or dinner. I will go a few stops out of my way to visit here on occasion.

The best of the best, a hidden gem in NYC. We decided to come back for the second time. Our visit was very short. We ate at Little Italy in one of the best but Bella Napoli surpassed my expectations.

Perfect!

Have just visited NYC on holiday for the first time so unsure where to go to eat. This restaurant was opposite our hotel so thought we'd give it a try. We were very pleased we did! Lovely authentic food and great service. Very friendly staff who were happy to help with our menu choices, nice relaxed atmosphere.
