I went here with a group of friends a couple of months back and we really enjoyed it. The drinks were great (the caju was a hit with our Brazilian pal), the food was satisfying, and the desserts were amazing! I ate vegetarian and even that was tasty (not a given at Brazilian restaurants!). We definitely plan to come again.

Its a small place with a homemade brazilian food ,friendly coworkers specially Reinaldo he is very kind reasonable price and good brazilian music .Well located as well

We were here for dinner. The food was very good. The problem was that it was very hot and for some reason they didn’t turn on the ac, so it was like being in a sauna

It is with immense gratitude that I come to write about Berimbau West Village. Today was my dear son's birthday who lives in NY, as we are far away, I tried to place the order online, but something went wrong (lucky for me!) so they kindly called me to understand the situation, that's when I met him over the phone Evaldo…WOW! Think of a friendly, polite person who is very dedicated to what he does!! He felt like a member of the family, he accepted the order, helped with the delivery and can I say anything else? He even made a card signed by all the employees and delivered it along with birthday balloons and a dessert gift! You know that person who goes the extra mile for customer satisfaction?! I'm thrilled even now, it's as if I could be close to my son and surprise him through this enlightened person. And it's not just the generosity, the food was WONDERFUL, my son's words! (Feijoada and coxinha!) I can't wait to go there and thank you in person for all the love! Thank you Evaldo! You are incredible! Thank you: Raphael, Caique, Bia, Nico, Gabriel, Vitor, Teddy, Rapha, Cecilia, Oscar, Danni, Franklin and Ronald!

Fantastic good food, top service of very nice staff and very beautiful local. Moderate noise, bassanova music! Great! Highly recommended!

This tiny place is lively with good food! My husband loved his caipirinha and we both enjoyed the fried calamari, chicken stroganoff (more popular in Brazil than the traditional beef dish) and the tropical salmon--generous piece perfectly cooked. Will definitely return to try more dishes.

Note: The real name of the restaurant is Berimbau do Brasil. My wife and I had dinner at this restaurant when we were in New York last week. We were at loose ends this particular evening, so just as a lark we looked for someplace that was out of the ordinary by entering various terms into TripAdvisor, including Brazilian (and deliberately avoiding the Brazilian meat orgy steakhouses). Keep in mind that Berimbau do Brasil is so small that you should make reservations to ensure you get a table. The server was quite helpful, wonderfully upbeat and we had fun talking to her. What is surprising is the amount and quality of the food coming out of the tiny kitchen, which is located right in the middle of the small, narrow dining room. The traditional Brazilian Caipirinha cocktail was the best I've ever had -- and not too sweet, like some can be. For starters we had the Casquinha de Siri stuffed crab on a scallop shell and a salad. For entrees we had the Moqueca a Baiana seafood stew and the Costelinha de Porco pork ribs. Everything was wonderful, with some unusual flavors that were mild, but not overly strong or pungent like some ethnic food can be to those not used to it. Also, you should know that while flavorful, Brazilian food is not hot with peppers. All in all, I can't recommend this place more highly, and we definitely plan to go back the next time we are in New York.

The food , manager, the lovely staff, the ambience and warm atmosphere make this a must do dining and Brazilian culture hospitality treat!!!!

Tasty food, 10/10 service, we were very well received, I satisfied the desire to eat pastries and stroganoff and I want to come back more often to try other dishes on the menu, I highly recommend

Been in Brazil several times, and this restaurant is definitely a piece of Brazil in NYC! Tasty and original food, friendly staff, very honest prices. What else? Maybe, they do some confusion with reservations (I had to wait more than 15 minutes) but they found a good way to fix the mistake: they offer two caipirinhas and everybody was happy!

the food was wonderful. we attended an art exhibit inthe philippine embassy oct. 3 and then friends and family went to berimbau do brasi for dinner. we made a previous reservation as the place is not very large and quite popular. the food was very authentic. i had the bacalhau gratinado which is very typical cod fish plate with potato au gratin, peas, eggs, red pepper. black olives and bechamel sauce. it was truly different from the usual spanish bacalao ala viscayna that i am used to. they have their own flavor, not overwhelmingly spicy or hot, but very mellow in flavor. i truly enjoy the meal. it was served with rice and a delicious black beans. i would recommend this place specially if you are looking for authentic flavor of brazil.

Great service, great food and great atmosphere. Also some of the best Brazilian drinks you'll find outside of Brazil.

It was my first time trying a Brazilian Cuisine and it was delicious. It satisfied every taste bud in my body. The people there was so nice. Great environment for friends to meet up. I like there menu; they have a lot of options, especially for lunch. I don't drink but the drinks all look really good. Only thing that concened me was the size of the place. It is very small restaurant.

I´ve been in NY twice and twice (at least) in this place. It really has the Brazilian spirit I love and the food is worth a visit. You have a good lunch menu por 10 dollars and you can eat perfect. I liked the attention and the atmosphere. Some bands play during the night and also they show Brazilian art and photos.

we arrived on a thursday night around 9:30pm and we were waiting for some friends. there was also another table waiting for the rest of their 12 people party. after we had 2 drinks they said they were closing at 10pm. never knew that places in downtown NYC close at 10pm on a Thursday night so we never got to try any of the food except dessert (flan and brigadeiro) which were both not up to par. Coconut drink was really good and topped with coconut flakes on top.

Gourmet Brazilian food in NYC - keeping it true to Brazilian cuisine with innovative touches & wonderful flavors. Do not miss the opportunity to try the caipirinha flight & enjoy the live music !

During my last visit, they'd just run out of their Salpicao, which is really too bad, since it's delicious. Berimbau makes a delicious stroganoff as well as moqueca.

I went Berimbau with good expectations, but while the wait staff was very nice and helpful, the drinks were awful and the food was ok -- nothing special. And, it was a bit expensive for the value. I won't go back.

Tiny place in the Village, no signs or anything to indicate its existence, and a perfect spot away from the tourist trail to enjoy delicious Brazilian cuisine and drinks. Service was friendly and very helpful in recommending dishes and drinks. This is authentic Brazilian cuisine, not a Brazilian meat mill where they just keep bringing various cuts of animals. Comfy (if tight) quarters... just a nice neighborhood spot. Def worth a stop if you're in the area.

We had the set menu and everything was fine, just a bit bland and a bit boring. The waitress and atmosphere were pleasant enough, but we ended up wishing we had picked somewhere better to go instead.

Excellent Brazilian food. I felt I was back home for a while Order the "pão de queijo" appetizer you won't regret! I had "Picadinho Carioca" and it was amazing! Drank some Brazilian beer !!

i just had a drink during the happy hour ( from 3 to 6 pm) when the caipirinha cost only 6$, a very nice drink

Berimbau is a thin slice of a restaurant on Carmine Street but it packs a big dose of tasty Brazilian cuisine. We started with caipirinhas (of course!!!) and went on to fried squid, salmon, and chicken stroganoff with garlic rice. Maybe Count S. back in Russia would be shocked by chicken in his famous dish, but it's a Brazilian classic and was really good. The place was jammed with happy eaters. Nothing formal. Just good food, attentive service, great drinks and happy people. We'll go back. Caipirinhas wear off and need to be recharged!

Very helpful staff. Grilled octopus was fantastic, tuna tartare beautiful and delicious. Next trip I will stick with appetizers and tartare. And I long for a next trip!

This place is right around the corner from my office and in the midst of a slew of restaurants (Carmine St is basically 85% restaurants) but this is one of the best on the strip. Really delicious authentic Brazilian food prepared fresh and with lots of love. The menu changes with the seasons but has many of the standard Brazilian dishes too. They have great cocktails too, ask the server what they recommend. I've tried half of the menu and its all really good, the only thing I would recommend is to try to pick a good time to go. I've gone for lunch many times and its been an excellent experience because it doesn't get too hectic and the server is attentive and not harried. But on a weekend for dinner it can get busy because its a small place so try to avoid the rush so you can get the most of your experience

Stopped in here before a show down the street at SOBs. Went with that night's special which was braised ribs (we were told they'd been cooking for 3 hours), yucca puree, and some greens. We also ordered some yucca fries but the waitress forgot them. But that was fine because I don't think I would've had room for them. Everything was very very good, nice portion sizes. The ribs were falling off the bone and cooked and seasoned perfectly. The yucca puree, which were essentially like mashed potatoes but made from yucca, were outstanding. No complaints from me or my friend and she had the same thing. It's a small place, but you don't feel cramped or that you're on top of the other diners. I'd heard others say it was pricey but I didn't think it was really. Each meal was about $20 which is pretty much par for the course in NYC. Definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant is understandably popular for the food. The cramped quarters detract a little from the experience, but he staff is very friendly and solicitous.

Was visiting my daughter in NYC last week and had dinner with she and a friend from Brasil. We had a wonderful time and was able to meet the owner/chef as well. The atmosphere was very friendly and our table was immediately available. I will say that my daughter had made reservations earlier in the month - and I would recommend doing the same. Walkable neighborhood and good vibe. I had the skirt steak which was wonderful. I am partial to beef over seafood, but the seafood was good as well. Enjoy.

Just go. I'm so excited to be going back again tonight. It is everything I love in a restaurant-really great welcoming staff, dimly lit, great music, really good drinks and amazing food. We had the Brazilian cheese bread, warm chewy and delicious, the sausage with fried yucca - ridiculously good, and shrimp with garlic to start. We both ordered steak which was tender and perfectly prepared. We ordered the side of yucca fries which are served with a tasty dipping sauce - and totally necessary- get them. For dessert we had the recommended Brigadeiros - delicious Brazilian chocolate balls- get them - you won't be sorry. Hoping my second visit is as delightful as my first.

Amazing authentic Brazilian food. Truly enjoyed the atmosphere, service, and delicious food. A taste of home in New York!

Excellent service and excellent food. Even though I'm usually all about the outdoor seating, and the atmosphere/decor mixing with my dining experience which this placed lacked, this particular restaurant wow'd me just with the service and the delicious food. There isn't much outside seating as the slender restaurant is only about 10 ft wide and doesn't have much sidewalk real estate in front to even put a table outside but they do have a couple picnic tables in the back that are decent. Our waiter was very helpful about the drinks and dinner options as my party wasn't too familiar with the choices. We all started with caipinirha drinks which mine was guava and I loved it.

We looked for some out of the ordinary food in the West Village and hit a gold mine in Berimbau Do Brasil. We shared a Quinoa salad and the fish stew and could not stop raving about the wonderful tastes, the ample portions and reasonable price.

We were just here to experience some authentic Brazilian fare but weren’t super hungry. We got a bottle of wine for under $50 (rare on this city) and we tried the yucca fries, Coxinha, and Pao de Queijo for the main course, with Chocolate Truffles for dessert. So good! Very filling and yummy. The staff were attentive and welcoming.

My wife and I happened upon Berimbau in Midtown (West 36th Street) after walking the area looking for dinner, and I'm glad we did. We were able to be seated immediately and found the decor and vibe to be exactly what we needed. Being a caipirinha aficionado, I was shocked to see seven different selections on the drink menu, and the ones that I ordered were spectacular. The dinner menu was very complete, with reasonable prices for midtown. It doesn't sound too Brazilian, but I had the Beef Stroganoff and it was the best I've ever had, and the sauce was to die for. My wife had the Moqueca (fish stew) and she was in heaven. The next time we are back in town, our first stop will be Berimbau.

The restaurant serves real brazilian food, very tasty. The lunch menu is way cheaper then the dinner one, and the steak is delicious. If you plan to go for lunch, choose a weekday to go, because on the weekends the lunch menu it is not the same as during the week. They put the price up higher.

Not super appealing from the outside, we were attracted by the nice reviews. The menu is varied but we felt it was too pricey for the food and the ambience. Our choice might have been a bit unlucky too: the chicken was underwhelming. In contrast, one of our friends had a massive seafood stew that looked much better.

Excellent laid back Brasilian (yes, with an S) restaurant on Carmine st. They serve amazing Brasilian dishes and a unbelievable CAIPIRINHA. very cool atmosphere .

The food was ok, there is not a full bar, service was ok.... But the restaurant is very cute and location is great.

We tasted the feijoada, and it was delicious. Having close Brazilian family, we have found the authentic flavors we are used to. I highly recommend! Prices are a little high, but like everywhere in New York.

Hot off the plane from London, checked into our hotel, then straight off to catch the Greenwich Village Halloween Parade. So obviously stopped off at this place for a bite to eat. Never had Brazilian food before, no idea what is was like, but up for anything. And very glad we did too. Some really good food here. We only had the one course, the Bacalhau Gratiinado for my partner and the Feijoada for me. Absolutely perfect, really difficult to hold back! No reservation or anything but found a table and made very welcome. Staff happy to chat with us and explain what we were eating. Other tables taken over by whole families with various kids coming in whilst we were eating trick or treating. Really good fun all round.

We had lunch there and end up fully satisfied with the food quality, the atmosphere, the price and the service. The feijoada was tasty and large; the picanha with egg was yummy and abundant. Totally recommendable.

Went to Berimbau for the first time with my wife and 2 and1/2 year old grandson. Small but tastefully decorated with good ambience. Excellent caipirinhas and attentive service. Had acaraje on menu-one of my favorites. Good selection of traditional Brazilian dishes and reasonably priced. You won't be disappointed.

As a long time business traveler to Brasil (15+ years), I have eaten in many types of Brasilian restaurants. Berimbau is an excellent restaurant in Manhattan that has a simple but eclectic menu. My wife and I were there recently and I had Moqueca a Baiana that was as good as what I had in Penedo/RJ, Brasil and my wife had a superb Bacalhau a Bras (without egg added) that she thoroughly enjoyed. My caipirinha aperitif (classic variety) was identical with what I had in most Brasilian restaurants and bars. We shared a flan dessert that was fresh and excellent. The ambiance is great; especially when the background music is Brasilian samba. It brings back many happy memories for me. Mario (the owner) and his young serving crew and Brasilian chef are all very, very nice people. I definitely will return and bring some friends and family with me.

I'm Brazilian living abroad and I can ensure that at Berimbau you will find tasteful and honest Brazilian food. I love going there. The cheese bread (pao de queijo), feijoada, acai juice, stroganoff, everything is delicious. The place is small so avoid taking any stroller when taking the little ones. But the environment is cozy with pleasant Brazilian music. I recommend!!!

Wandered around checking out a few menus in the area, and when we saw this cute little place with the big "A" in the window for cleanliness we decided to give it a try. A very reasonably priced lunch menu with plenty to choose from, and very friendly service made this the perfect choice. I had the shrimp and my girlfriend had the cod, we both could not stop saying how good it was.. Can't wait to go back next time I'm in the neighborhood!

Berimbau combines great Brazilian food with a pleasant atmosphere and decent value in the West Village. The quality of the food is very high. The pão de queijo (cheese bread) is baked fresh and comes steaming to your table. If you are dying for acarajé, the black-eyed peas fritters from Salvador, this is the place for it. It is topped with the traditional vatapá and a large tasty shrimp. They have a delicious picanha sandwich--the steak is tender and nicely seasoned, the seasoning is wonderful and the bread fresh. The caipirinha (no explanation needed!) was great. Lunch prices are very reasonable, and the caipirinhas were a happy hour value of $6 each. At dinner, prices are higher, but still good. The atmosphere is very pleasant, assisted by a great but laid back Brazilian sound track. In season, there are a couple of wood tables outside in the back, were a group of friends could install themselves for a great evening. Have been here several times, and I will return! Hint: At lunchtime ask for the dinner menu too, as it has many more options.

Berimbau has a great lunch menu and very nice comfortable decor. I work in the area; the portions are the perfect price for lunch and are priced accordingly. Ive tried just about everything on the lunch menu but the steaks are my favorite. Th efood is served up fast and the taste is always consistent. Absolutely love this place.

The restaurant is small and narrow with an open kitchen in the middle, so you can see the food prepared-- clean -- also served piping hot! The food is slightly unusual Brazilian fare. Start with a caipinirha in various flavors. We both had the stroganoff which was wonderful and plentiful but not heavy. Appetizers looked good too. We shared the chocolate balls which were EXCELLENT -- not to be missed -- delicious truffles covered with chocolate sprinkles -- one order was plenty for 2 of us. The service was super-friendly if a tad erratic. Nice "real" artwork on the walls. When we first arrived it was so hot & when we asked to move to a cooler table they turned on the AC. The front room is a bit nicer than the smaller back room. There is also a tiny outdoor section in the back with picnic tables. We will be back & bring friends!

Yesterday me and my friends decided to try Berimbau! What a wonderful experience!! The place is super cozy, the drinks were delicious (I tried 3 different flavored of the caipirinha and all 3 were really good) and the food was just amazing!!!! The staff was very accommodating! I do recommend you make reservations the place is small and busy at least it looked to be yesterday. Will definetly come back, hopefully soon.

I have been to Brazil a year ago and thought the food was absolutely fabulous, so I ordered a table at Berimbau as I recognized food (Pao de Queijo, Farofa, Picanha, Moqueca, etc.) on the menu. Right in the middle of the West Village, close to Bleecker Street and other bars and restaurants, the welcome at the restaurant was kind and instantaneous. To make a long story short, the food was delicious (just like a year ago in Brazil), the Caipirinhas (in different flavors) were yummy (sweet but strong), and the price/value composition was good. We will certainly come back for more ...

We went around New Years on a whim. I go to Brazil literally all the time, and very familiar with the country...especially the food. Nothing, I repeat, nothing tops Berimbau restaurant for Brazilian food. The coxinhas are heavenly. The costela literally slides like butter off the bone. The strogonoff was decadent...which includes mushrooms (and I hate mushrooms!). Nothing is overcooked or undercooked. Perfection. Staff are friendly, personable, authentic. Prices are extremely fair. Cute date-like atmosphere. Tiny itty bitty eating space...but those are the best, right? Vai. Agora.

This was our 3rd time in Berimbau. The place is intimate and cozy. There are only a few tables, I would recommend a reservation. The place is clean which is a major plus. I had the codfish gratin, This was ok, my wife had the stroganoff inwhich she liked. The service is good and attentive. Great quiet location and the brazilian music sets the right mood.

I have not had Brazilian food since my trip to Rio in 2015 and was dying for another try of Feijoada. I only had it once and I was not impressed, possibly because I didn't go where the locals go and instead, ate at a very touristy place in Impanema. Anyway, I came across Berimbau Do Brasil through yelp, saw the great reviews and figured we give it a shot for an after work Friday dinner. We started off with the Pao de Queijo which were perfect. I of course ordered the Feijioada while my girlfriend ordered Costelhina de Porco (Pork Ribs). She loved her ribs. I have a piece and I have to agree...delish. The Feijoada...actually better than the one I had in Rio. Maravilhosa! I don't drink, but my girlfriend said the Passion Fruit Caipirinhas are great. The service was wonderful...staff were great and friendly. I will definitely be back. Obrigado.

This is a real Brazilian restaurant. Caipirinha, picanha, and a slow service :-) but I really liked the the food, regardless the inflated price.

The decor transported us to Brasil. So wonderfully cozy and comfortable that you wanted to stay for hours. The staff was super attentive and friendly. The food was beautifully presented and fresh but the visual surpassed the taste. There was no depth of flavor and which made the food disappointingly bland. Also, our caipirinhas were glasses full of crushed ice with only one mouthful of cachaca and fresh lime juice--no sugar at all! I will give Berimbau another chance and hope it was just a bad day.

My wife and I tried Berimbau do Brasil, in Greenwich Village, after walking out of two other nearby restaurants who had few patrons at 3 pm on a December Sunday -- and even fewer servers. 20 minutes trying to get someone's attention to get a drink or place an order is our limit. No such problems at Berimbau: a smiling waiter at this small restaurant not only immediately led us to a table, he gave us setups and cold water right afterwards. Brunch or dinner items were available, and we went with the cheaper, and smaller-serving, brunch menu after ordering a mojito and a caipirinha -- both of which were fine. We shared a "Salada Berimbau" off the dinner menu, with hearts of palm, mango, tomatoes, endives, carrots, mixed greens and chef's dressing -- very fresh and tasty for $7.95. Then my wife ordered "Carne Seca com Polenta" for $11.95, with shredded dry beef, pepper, onion, tomatoes, polenta and an over-easy fried egg on top -- she said it was very good. I had the Hash de Bacalhau, also $11.95, with Cod fish hash, a poached egg, and shredded olives, potatoes, onions, and peppers with extra virgin portuguese olive oil. The waiter told us this was not traditional Brazilian style, which would have had everything on a bed of rice. I didn't miss the rice at all -- it was delicious, and we got out in less than an hour, feeling satisfied but not stuffed. Worth a return trip for dinner!

Awesome place for great Brasilian food. Drinks are on point and the Yuca is incredible. Not like a heavy Churrasscaria.

Although authentic, the ingredients lack in quality. The juices used for Caipirinhas aren't fresh. The food was bleh, but the fried mandioca was great.

Met up with 4 friends for dinner & drinks the other night, small but cute, clean bathrooms and a little outside area in the back (although you can't smoke out there). We had a couple of bottles of reasonably priced wine, tried some of the cocktails most made with brazilian rum, which went down well. Excellent calamari, wasn't too impressed with the Brazilian cheese bread. Service was very knowledgeable and prompt, two thumbs up .

Food great & authentic as verified by a friend from Brazil who was in our party. Not your typical “buffet style” Brazilian. Food freshly prepared & presented simply & well. . Service was good, not great. Place is quite small & intimate. I highly recommend.

Tiny place on Carmine's st , but well worth it . Coxinha was one of the best I have had , skirt steak too was delish , so tender and tasty . Not to mention wonderful service and excellent caipirinhas . Will def be back. (,place is small so make reservations )

Very nice restaurant in NYC! I discovered it during Halloween in Greenwich village and I was captivated by the colours of this typical restaurant! The menu is really Brasilian! I've eaten moqueca, açarajè, and a perfect maracuja capirigña! It seemed to be in Brasil! Perfect location and service! Instead, the prices were very competitive, and the tip is included in the food prices, no extra tip was required for the first time in 7 days of NYC life!

Great restaurant, we stayed on the West Side. Small and cozy place. Super friendly staff. Very good food: we had coxinhas, a bobo de camarao and some picanha. Yeah. Very honest prices. We will definitely return Highly recommended

After an initial altercation with the hostess, who wasn’t outstanding by all means, we had a really good dinner. The ambiance is fun and the food was really very good. We will for sure be back!

Adore the menu choices here...I'm glad I tried the Moqueca a Baiana, a brazilian seafood dish of Mahi- Mahi, Shrimp and Calamari in a coconut and palm oil broth, cooked and served at a clay pot with garlic rice and dende farofa (yucca powder). Of course, a fitting end to the meal was the chocolate Brigadeiro dessert. Service was excellent, as well.

Passed by several times and we finally decided to go out on a cold night and experience the place. Great idea. The staff are warm and welcoming, Art works are colorful and quite interesting. You see the cooks working away at the open kitchen in the middle of the long and deep space. Cute place. My test dish for Brazilian restaurants anywhere is the feijoada. This one did not disappoint. Lots of mixed drinks but only 4 wines, 2 red and 2 white. Worked for me as I tried the Portuguese blend and was delighted. We'll be going back.

New Year's eve. Narrow corridor containing 3 or tables sitting two guests on one wall and same on the other wall, where tables were lumped to sit several people. We went in and asked for a table. They said, yes, we can accommodate you. They sat us in between two tables with several guests each. On the right, 6 civilized people; on the left, 8 savages that were as loud as they could be. Lou brazilian music was piped in. We ordered and had a not-so-great $9 caipirinha (small tumbler containing two lime wedges and chunks of ice that had not been grated) and average-sized shrimps (6) in a vat of oil with garlic ($11). A poached salmon ($19) was rated "good" by my companion. I had a moqueca a baiana (essentially, a small seafood stew with a ball of rice for $23) that I had in many different places before and they were really good, so I can I rate this one as average to poor. We had a $38 bottle of Argentinian Malbec. In the middle of our dinner the uncouth 8 people left and they sat 6 guests in their place and separated a small table for 2 and sat... 4 people in it, next to us, crowding us. It felt like an Upper West Side diner! As soon as we were done, they brought the bill and asked us to leave because "there is people waiting and you came with no reservations." I asked them that if so, why they gave us a table. Because "you looked eager to eat here." I asked them to allow me to finish my wine and they agreed. I think that they felt good about it. Though I felt like I was in a diner, our bill said otherwise: including a generous (for the type of service we received) tip, it came to $124. Believe you me, for that price there are many Brazilian restaurants in town that serve you better caipirinhas, better food and more gracious service. No need to feel harassed like Berimbau makes you feel.

Wow, what a great dinner spot! I was promptly seated and enjoyed a classic Caipirinha, Pão de queijo (cheese bread) and picanha (top sirloin). It all tasted authentic and reminded me of what my Brasilian friends cook for me. The rice and beans were so delicious, yet simply Brasilian. I am happy I tried this spot and I can't wait to return with some friends! Also, the service was efficient and friendly!

A frequent visitor to Brazil, have been searching for an authentic Brazilian restaurant in here in NYC. Berimbau comes very close. And though the ambience, service and staff were all very good and gave them a rating of 'very good,' if rating just meal, would have to rate the food as being somewhere in-between good and very good, but definitely better than average.' My girlfriend and I really enjoyed our meals, but disappointed that when ordering the appetizer, pão de queijo (cheese bread), they bring you this small plate with only 4 small pieces. First that its an appetizer to begin with, and then $7 bucks, is insane for what you get. Go to any churrascaria and its served as part of the meal endlessly. But other than that small stickler, we had a great time. The restaurant is small and intimate with cool Brazilian music, reasonably priced. Will definitely be back.

A friend and I were very lucky to find this place open at 3pm today, when most of the restaurants are actually closed. We're both Brazilian and we thought everything was just great. Great service, great place, great music playing in the background, and the food was just amazing. We're definitely coming back.

At first view from the door, the restaurant looks like a corridor, very narrow. Clean looking, maybe eight tables with a small patio in the back. Ate the pao de quiejo (cheese balls) which were ok, at best, and the pastels (chicken, sausage and beef) which were ok. Pricing was reasonable. We had a small group reserve the patio for caipirinhas so service was attentive since there was only about 4 tables occupied up front. Price for caipirinhas was $5.00 which brought me to the event, but my sense was that the owner did not put in a full shot of Pitu in the glass. Generally speaking, two of these and you know that you have had a drink, but not so this time. I had it with maracuja which was probably from a bottle (not fresh) but was good. Caja-flavor was also good. Went on a Tuesday night and did not expect live music, and got none. Kind of small to have live music, but a good batucada at a Brazilian restaurant improves the visit.

Today we gladly found a taste of the genuine high standard Brazilian food. Forget about stereotype food. It was delicious and the environment was great. Strongly recommend to everyone!

Really good food and price. The waitress is very nice and helpful. They have different food options, we feel in Brazil when we go there.

Excellent ambiance in this small and narrow restaurant with interesting art on the walls and perfect lighting. The service is attentive without being stuffy. I had the Fralhindha (shell steak) as well as the Lula appetizer, along with some hearts of palm on the side. Excellent taste and excellent value. Definitely a little different in the menu offerings. If you're in the West Village, this gem on Carmine street will fill your tummy without emptying your wallet.

Really enjoyed one evening at Berimbau. Alone it can sometimes be up hill to go out and eat, but this evening it was like walking into a brazilian home. Loved the food and drinks - but the service was outstanding. Thanks

Small but warm place where to eat traditional brasilian food in the West Village. Great choice of tipical appetizers and main course. In my opinion meat dishes are the best choice. Tuna tartara a bit disappointing, too dry and with to many vegetables.

Traditional Brazilian food, very nice and attentive service, small restaurant full of flavor! My daughter's friend recommended this to her and we consider it a 'don't miss' place to eat. Authentic Brazilian food is delicious.

Quaint, summery place in West Village. The caipirinhas came highly recommended. However 2 out 4 of us had a terrible stomach upset within one hour of leaving the place. I had the prawns and my friend had beef in the main course. All 4 of us shared the starters. Not sure what was wrong with the food but it did take a heavy toll.

My husband and I were both very pleasantly surprised. We've only had one other experience with Brazilian food that was not the best. Therefore, we came with pretty low expectations. Not only was the food amazing, but the waiter made sure that we understood everything on the menu and was very happy to make recommendations and they were spot on!We've been fortunate to eat at some pretty fabulous restaurants in New York and we would highly recommend making it a priority to try this one. Great cocktails too!

The appetizer that I chose was the Brazilian Chicken Croquettes (Coxinhas), four to an order for $9.95. They were tasteless. For my main course I had a Brazilian Fish Stew ($23.95) with shrimp, calamari and a piece of fish, presented in a decent tasting sauce, all of which is for me to put over accompanying white rice. The calamari were overcooked, thereby tasteless, and the piece of fish had a displeasing taste to it. My descriptions of the food should explain why I gave the decent looking restaurant a rating of poor. The waitress did not impress me with her knowledge of the menu.

i've been to Berimbau several times with various family and friends. EVERYONE loves the food, the service and the atmosphere. Every thing I've tasted is wonderful. Excitedly awaiting my next visit to Berimbau

Really good restaurant, although small expect nothing but amazing service and traditional, tasty brazilian food. I highly recommend it!
Great Brazilian food in the Village
I have been going to Berimbau for years. As a matter of fact, one year I took a whole class of students who were going to Brazil so they could get "the flavor" of the food before our trip. Great drinks and service as well. I highly recommend.
