Delicious Lunch at Bistango at The Kimberly Hotel with GF Options

By Jahleah S |

Bistango at The Kimberly Hotel offers delightful multi-regional Italian cuisine with excellent gluten-free options. Entering through the stunning Kimberly Hotel set the tone for an exceptional experience. The ambiance was charming, and our waiter was amazing. I enjoyed the visually stunning Lobster Stuffed Avocado and the Fig and Speck pizza with a perfect balance of sweet and savory flavors. The gluten-free Squid Ink Lobster Ravioli and Fusilli Trapanese were rich and flavorful. The Roasted Beets salad felt like plated sunshine, and the meal ended with the heavenly Mascarpone Cheesecake topped with blueberry compote. Overall, Bistango provided a memorable dining experience with a welcoming atmosphere, outstanding service, and a menu catering to various dietary needs without compromising on flavor.

Entire menu can be made gluten free!

By NewYorker1993 |

Every dish on the menu can be made gluten free, and they serve gluten free bread (or regular bread) with hummus before your meal arrives. I've eaten here multiple times and every dish is delicious. The restaurant is nicely decorated and has a classy vibe.

Good for some of us

By Enjoythedayoff |

I know I am a picky eater so take this to to heart. I want to love it because it is at one of my favorite hotels in NY. First off they were gracious and accommodated two picky kids for the entire meal. That is why I give them this rating. They specifically made a fettuccine Alfredo for one son and a nice spaghetti and butter for another. That is huge! Neither were on the menu. The waitress and gentleman who assisted were so kind. Now for the food and wine: the pour was generous and for that, thank you. Beyond generous. I needed it. I had the butternut squash ravioli and everything was too sweet. From the syrup tasting sauce to the filling. Too much. Couldn't eat it all because it was too sweet. My husband had the lobster pasta. He said he liked it. I did taste and wasn't impressed by the texture of the lobster. Portions were small as well except for the kids. All in all I would try it again. The accommodation for the kids was beyond amazing for NY.

New favorite Italian place in NY

By mthuber |

Now this place is a definite find. They claim everything on their menu can be made GF. They had high ratings and a lot of them on the find me GF app so I had high expectations of this place. On to the meal. To start the wait staff were great. Very friendly. I ordered arancini and one of their meatball flatbreads. Arancini because I haven’t figured out the trick to making them at home so it’s been 5+ years since I had some. These were excellent. Second my waiter recommended the meatballs and I just had to try their house-made GF flatbread. This was also really good as well. I also received some GF bread with hummus to start the meal.

Excellent

I have eaten at Bistango many times; mostly for brunch, but a group of 12 of us went there after work. They set us up outside as requested, and were very accommodating. Everything we ordered was very good. Brunch is delicious. Waitstaff are very nice.

Excellent

By victoriaYork |

A wonderfully warm and welcoming environment serving excellent food at very reasonable prices . Laura our waitress was outstanding ( best server out of our entire holiday!) Her advice about items on the menu and attention to detail ( eg bringing three spoons when ordering one dessert !) were all very gratefully received . Food , service and ambience all highly recommended. A bonus for us eating on a Monday was that all bottles of wine were half price too !!

Indifferent service

By Marianne M |

Waiter was busy looking at his phone at brunch yesterday. I had to get up to ask for more coffee, the bill, salt and pepper. The busboys were chatting amongst themselves and unresponsive also. Hope the manager reads this - a middle eastern male waiter with a short beard, mustache, and such a heavy accent in English he was hard to understand. The food was just passable. Ate about half of the items.

Gluten free heaven

By Ann F |

Great to eat somewhere that is so set up for Coeliac diners. Lovely wine and the flatbread was really tasty: service quick but not obtrusive. Too experience for a gluten free diner.

Fantastic Food and Service!

By slinky224 |

Bistango is one of my favorite restaurants to visit when I travel to the city! It is located inside the Kimberly Hotel, making it a great location; a short walk from Grand Central, Rockeffeler Center, and Central Park. My husband and I have eaten here on numerous occasions and are always greeted by friendly faces and impeccable service. The food is fantastic! I cannot pick a favorite item as we've enjoyed everything we've tried. Mixed drinks are lovely and the wine list has great options. I highly recommend enjoying a meal here!

Great place!

By mirfield2003 |

A simple menu which is great but most importantly the food and service was great! We were staying at the Kimberley and decided to give it a try, so happy we did. Arancini fab and Branzino excellent!

Very disappointing

By LondonTrixy |

We ate at this restaurant on our last night in New York and were very disappointed by our experience. I had to double check we were in the right place as I could not reconcile our experience with that of other trip advisor reviewers. The bread was stale and cold and the 'hummus' was mashed tinned chickpeas mixed with olive oil and nothing else. The butternut squash ravioli was overcooked and dry and bizarrely served with cob nuts and lashings of balsamic vinegar syrup. The melanzane parmigiana was cold, the aubergines were undercooked and the dish tasted of tinned tomatoes with some powdery Parmesan cheese. To be fair, the waitress did bring us some stodgy tiramisu to apologise for our experience. Maybe they were having an off night but there are many better places to dine in New York so I wouldn't risk it.

Decent - very courteous staff

By Willem K |

We went here with colleagues on a weekday night. The entrance looks a little odd, maybe cheap - you probably won't think to go in if you hadn't learned of it online. The food was decent, an OK wine list. The waiter was exceedingly nice and courteous, accommodating us when we had additional people coming in and had to move to a bigger table. The lasagna I had was a little thin on the tomato sauce, but otherwise good.

Good food, excellent service, some GF options, reasonable portions, high mid price range

By Debby D |

We ordered split pea soup, eggplant parmigiana, and chicken. All delicious. There isn’t anything that comes with your meal; no vegetable, etc. splitting a meal isn’t practical. The service was excellent. The price is in the high of mid range.

A delightful dining experience

By Elise G |

We could not have had a better experience. We made reservations and were seated promptly with smiles and grace. The service carried through to the end of our meal. The menu had so many options for vegetarians. We ordered a flatbread and a pasta dish, though the other choices offered would have been delicious, too. The food itself was prepared so well. Considering we're in the heart of Manhattan, the prices were moderate. We chose to dine outside. The ambiance was sweet. All in all, a wonderful dining experience. When we find ourselves in this neighborhood again, Bistango will be on our "go-to" list!

Amazing Gluten Free menu!!

By ALagrutta |

This restaurant was absolutely amazing! Went with my girlfriends for my 40th Birthday celebration! I have celiac disease and my friends found this place! Everything on the menu I could eat. What a selection and our waiter Milan was awesome! Can't wait to go back!!!

Very good brunch

By stevelotte |

We had Saturday brunch. Great space. Very attentive wait service. Great bloody Marys. Had a brunch special deal. Enjoyed a shared beer salad appetizer. Entrees were vegetable frittata and steak and eggs. Great meals.

Very good food, All dishes can be made Gluten Free

By Taxidevoume |

My wife and I ate here on the 15th of December after many months of avoiding dining out owing to COVID-19. We ate outdoors (which, admittedly, was a bit cold, even with the portable heaters). Let me begin by stating that everything on the menu can be ordered as a gluten-free alternative, which is very much appreciated by those of us (like myself) who for health reasons cannot consume gluten. The bread they brought out (conventional for my wife, gluten-free for me) along with the hummus was excellent. The PEI Mussels appetizer prepared with white wine, roasted garlic, shallot, tomatoes and crushed red pepper were also excellent. The sauce was fabulous -- we were sopping it up with extra bread. The Grilled Octopus appetizer with Spicy squash pureé and sweet potato crisps frankly disappointed. The octopus was far too chewy, and the Spicy squash pureé was not to our liking. The sweet potato crisps were pretty good, though. This dish was the only negative part of the meal. The Sausage and Pepper flatbread pizza (gluten-free) was yet another excellent dish, with a nice spicy kick. These folks certainly know how to prepare a red tomato sauce. Our server, Erin, was wonderful. Had we not been so hungry and not ordered the Grilled Octopus appetizer, this would have easily been a 5/5 experience. Nevertheless, we very much look forward to going back as there were a great many enticing dishes we would like to have tried.

Food allergies? This place is wonderful!!!

By 257CO |

So happy with our experience at this restaurant recently. With a child with severe food allergies (egg, peanut and tree nuts), we do not get to eat out often. It is usually an incredibly stressful experience-- if we try at all. I read about this restaurant on allergy advocate websites, and it did not disappoint-- my husband and I had lovely meals (not the best we've ever had, but certainly quite good), and the kids enjoyed specially made dishes. The staff was extremely kind and understanding-- I wish I had learned our server's name (petite with black hair) because she was AMAZING. Thank you to the chef, as well. Finally: awesome fish tank! The kids had an absolute blast. (And, this is not a "kids place", btw... this is a lovely restaurant that is kind and accommodating. :)

Pedestrian food not worth the excessive expense

By Monkey T |

Got lasagna and cheesecake to go, because it was late, and I hadn’t had dinner. We’re staying two doors down, so not a long walk. Picked it up exactly when they said it would be ready. The lasagna was barely warmer than room temperature at the edges, and it got colder the closer to the center I got. What did they do, microwave it? Also, for being “famous” and “homemade”, it was meh. Not the tissue thin layers one might expect. Not the homemade taste of your grandmother’s lasagna either. In other words, not great by either Italian or American standards. Just okay, COLD, and for $30, it should knock your socks off.

Best meal of our trip!

By Brian F |

My daughter read about this restaurant online and decided to give it a try. They can prepare almost everything on the menu Gluten free. I ordered the flatbread pizza and my daughter ordered the Ravioli. We added the grilled tiger prawns as a starter. Everything was EXCELLENT! The shrimp were huge, the flatbread pizza was super thin with lots of flavor and the ravioli was cooked perfectly. The inside of the restaurant was fresh, clean and enjoyable. I'm sure we will eat here again on our next trip to NYC.

ate there 4 nights in a row

By awhitesides |

We were so exhausted and tried Bistango as were staying at the Kimberly. What a great find. So many restaurants are having a tough time but this one was consistently good. All of the food was fresh and the waiters were great. We sat outside (they had heaters) and people watched while we ate. After the second night of consistenly good food and service, we just spent every minute we could out seeing the city, knowing we had a great place to crash, burn and get great food.

Terrible

By John1954 |

Terrible and rude service especially the maître. She made us wait for a table a least 45 minutes when you could clearly see barely no one was in the restaurant. After our terrible meal we now know why no one was in the restaurant.

Delicious Gluten Free Meals

By celiacawanderlust |

You cannot imagine how delicious was my gluten free meal at bistango. Everything in their menu is made gluten free and very carefully. The waitresses are very friendly and make you feel safe about the gluten. I totally recommend this place. I had the parpadele as main dish, pizza to share and volcano for dessert 😋😋😋

Excellent gluten free Italian food!

By Sharon H |

Excellent food for gluten free and dairy free! I cannot eat either and they made me a meal that tasted just as good as if it did have gluten and dairy. My sisters ate the normal menu (with gluten and dairy) and loved it too!

Found by mistake, a great place with a gluten free menu.

By Allendale1952 |

We found thus place by mistake. What a gem, great menu and with most of the dishes available for my gluten free daughter. Good service, excellent presentation of food and it taste great. No cheap but good and wholesome.

Xmas in NYC

By tlcarr1968 |

Absolutely mouth watering! Milos was outstanding and his suggestions were great! Definitely give this place a try!

Good food, good service, but extremely small servings

By Johannes E |

We had dinner at the Bistango on our first night in NYC. We mainly chose it, because it was located next to the lobby of our hotel and the kids were tired. Service was prompt and the food was really good. As in most places in NYC, prices were above average. Just the serving sizes were ridiculous. A 23 dollar lasagna that does not feed a skinny 10-year old girl or pizzas in the size of a starter do not make this place recommendable.

Different Bistango

By Thomas |

We went to Bistango a couple of years ago and I believe it was down on 3rd. This was not the same restaurant and I guess it it hard to create a similar atmosphere in a hotel. Good food, good service, nice staff

Disappointed

By Elizabeth L |

The pasta was soggy and flavorless. What was shocking was that when we mentioned issues with the food they blamed us as guests saying that it was our fault for making a last-minute reservation and for eating the appetizer first.

Gluten free heaven

By eggysue |

A beautiful setting where almost everything on the menu can be made gluten free. Even gluten free bread and olive oil dip brought out while waiting for my meal. Gluten free fryer too! A vast menu to choose from too. I had an immense chicken sandwich and fries with an accompanying small jar of ketchup! Delicious!

Check your bill

By thetoothdoc |

We ate at this restaurant 3 times whilst staying at the attached Kimberly Hotel . On each occasion an error was made with our order and the bill . We ordered a bottle of sparkling water with each meal , which was never received and on two occasions was billed . At our last meal the head water asked whether we wanted still or sparkling water with our meal , my wife asked for sparkling but the head water ordered tap water , after the meal my wife ordered a black coffee and I told the head waiter I didn’t require a drink , we were subsequently served two coffees, one of which was refused but still billed . I pointed out the error to the head waiter who the reprinted the bill and then condescendingly requested that I check it to ensure it was now correct . The food was mediocre at best , the pizza quite small and attention from the serving staff poor . I would have thought that the restaurant might have a discount for hotel guests .

Average and reaching for more.

By OurFamily |

NYC is a tough town for restaurants, and this one is living off being in the hotel. Food was good enough, recommend for guests in-house. The host hotel, The Kimberly is quite good by the way.

Celiacs and non celiacs can rejoice .. together

By Joe K |

As a traveller with a spouse who is celiac finding a restaurant that does both gluten free and non gluten free equally well is a gem to find. When the server said everything on the menu was available gluten free, and not just done plainly, but with all the trimmings offered on the main menu they meant it. No side menu that listed the GF options, just order from the menu and specify gluten free to the server. Fantastic! The food was excellent and the server was very knowledgable and took great care in ensuring everyone's needs were taken care of, (we also had a person with a nut allergy in our group). No issues at all. Prices were reasonable for New York and given our experience I would say offered excellent value. I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning.

Amazing, welcoming restaurant

By Pamela W |

We booked Bistango because of the fresh, gluten free pasta and had read some good reviews. From the moment we walked in, we felt so welcome and had a very personal experience. They made sure to accommodate my allergy and were very helpful in looking at the menu. Julie, our server the first night was just so wonderful and friendly and genuinely wanted us to have a good experience. The first night was so wonderful that we asked to come back the Friday night. Again, we had excellent service and the food was fantastic. This was the best gluten free meal I had experienced in my seven years of being celiac. We will be back every time we are in the city!

Well done!

By mikedoylestown |

Stayed at Marriott. This restaurant right around the corner. Easy rez through Open Table. Nicely appointed, not huge. Did Saturday brunch. Great mix of breakfast foods and other specialties, with an emphasis on Italian...like flatbreads, pastas, salads. AND...EVERYTHING on their menu can be prepared gluten free! Awesome. Good cocktails too. Helpful fun staff.

Great food, great service, friendly and gluten free!

By BLL3020 |

We had a party of 6 for a celebration at Bistango at the Kimberley Hotel and it was wonderful. They offered everything on the menu gluten free and it was all fabulous. The fish dishes and the pastas were great, and the flatbread appetizers were delicious. Service was exceptional and extremely friendly. We will definitely go back to Bistango often!

Lovely Restaurant With Excellent Food

By Iris S |

We had a dinner reservation, but when our day plans changed, we were accommodated for brunch. The brunch menu was extensive and it was more like an early dinner. The service was outstanding, the food delicious and the decor and atmosphere were lovely. We already made another reservation!

Lovely restaurant with many GF choices

By AndreaL4 |

This is a lovely restaurant in a great location with an entire menu that can be gluten free. Only downfall for us was we went on the early side (before 5:00pm ) and they were still prepping for dinner . So with that said we couldn't get an entrees, only salads and some of the appetizers. But what we ordered was terrific. I would certainly go back. Great GF bread and fabulous service

Great for Gluten Free! And everyone else too!

By rebecca5935 |

Full menu can be made gluten free which is fantastic. The Arancini are lovely and the pasta dishes too. Recommend the flatbread pizza. Gluten free beer options available also. Visited twice now and enjoyed it both times. Highly recommended.

Just good

By Bull0424 |

Small restaurant with a short menu. A little overpriced and noisy. Excellent service and some good dishes.

Go somewhere else

By sherman49 |

I should have known better than to go to a restaurant that prides itself on being gluten free when that's not an issue for us, but we were tired and were staying in the hotel. It's small, very noisy (in a poor acoustics rather than buzzy) way with bad lighting to cover up the shabby decor. The big letdown is the food however. The octopus and shrimp appetizers were ok but the lobster ravioli was so bad that I sent it back. It was swimming in melted butter and was drizzled with the same sweet balsamic glaze as the (overpriced) rocket salad. Who puts salad dressing on lobster ravioli? Even the waiter was horrified. Two small, burnt pizzas and one bland pasta with sausage followed. Yuk. The worst meal of our trip by a long way.

Fantastic Brunch

By VE176 |

Very accommodating especially for gluten-free diners. Quail egg flatbread and sauteed kale were delightful as were the spicy Bloody Mary's. Be sure to make reservations though. Reasonably priced. Highly recommend.

fun place, great staff, delish flat breads!!

By moniquethecritique |

Relaxing and pretty place on ground floor, with open kitchen, excellent wines, and delicious and interesting varieties of 'pizzas', which are all on flatbread. Very good pastas too! Great service, friendly staff!

Good gluten-free restaurant

By YngveA |

Very nice restaurant with great gluten-free menu. Every course is possible to make gluten-free. Good service and very good food. Pizzas could have been a little bigger. Pasta Cavatelli was very good and tasty.

Bland food, no ambiance and terrible service

By Ella B |

I am extremely disappointed by my recent dining experience at Bistango at Kimberly Hotel. The food was bland and the staff's mission is to get you in an out of the restaurant as fast as possible and treat their guests in an assembly line. Had a birthday dinner there and after paying the $650 check at 8:30 pm, the staff asked us to move to the lobby because they needed the table for another reservation unless we order more. The manager was completely unapologetic. If you are looking for ambiance, good food and good service, this is not the place.

Delicious and very vegan and gluten free friendly

By Gabriel |

The vegan/vegetarian and gluten free options are well thought out and apparently well built into the DNA of this restaurant and that was great. The food was also very good, and the noise level comfortable even when busy, not too loud but not so quiet that others could hear our conversation.

Can’t recommend

By paurora |

Disappointed in the overall experience here. The food is decent, not good enough to match the price point, but the service is what’s really lacking. The server was just not really paying attention to details and seemed indifferent. This restaurant is not inexpensive so there’s a certain level of expectation to the meal. We noticed our table wasn’t the only one with issues either.

Dinner

By Joe P |

Had a nice dinner after spending the day touring the city. The restaurant was very accommodating for our group of eight. Had rice balls for starters which were good. For a entree I had the lobster fettuccine that was quite good. The staff were very attentive.

Gluten Free Heaven

By loonylani |

I am a foodie but unfortunately I also have celiac disease. This place keeps me sane. One of the only places where I can indulge and know I will not be sick after. Everything here is absolutely delicious - I am not exaggerating - I tried it all and its great. The setting in the Kimberly hotel is beautiful and cozy.

Very good

By gluten free traveler |

Whole family loved their food and the gluten free pasta was some of the best I've ever had. Even had gluten free bread!

YUM

By TLH61293 |

Excellent Food, Excellent service at reasonable prices. AND if you happen to be traveling with a Celiac, hands down the best restaurant in NYC we’ve been to because everything on the menu including desert if Gluten Free or can be made that way. We went for lunch and it was fantastic, the best thing was there was a little bit of everything so we all had options. Personally as an appetizer I had the meatballs which were crazy good.

Great!

By fedar |

I had the chance to eat here during my stay. Professional and friendly service at the same time, great food. No need to search anything else!

Lunch was just OK

By fleish |

The food was not expensive for NY but not exceptional either. It is right off the lobby at the hotel Kimberly. Very convenient if you are staying there.

It's not worth of the money

By SmarTrotter |

We stayed at nearby waldolf hotel, went out for dinner one night at Bistango. Portion of the dishes were really small, taste was nothing special about it, it wasn't cheap either. A really small portion of spaghetti costs 25 bucks, you definitely need a Hamburger afterwards.

Expensive for what it is

By Malo E |

The pizzas were very small, same for the pastas. I also think that letting the Spanish news on TV the whole meal was not necessary when you are in an « Italian » restaurant.

Excellent Food and Staff!

By mthibodeaux |

Excellentent food and staff! They did everything to accommodate us at dinner. Great experience and will definitely eat there again when we return

excellent food and service

By Angry J |

The food is excellent as was the service, a great Italian restaurant, I got there before the dinner crowd so it was easy to get a table and to get waited on, a good varied menu, the prices were good and clean. The staff was very friendly and accomodating.

Nice meal good service

By Jbcb123 |

Enjoyed tasty meal with efficient service although portions small in comparison to prices. Used this restaurant for convenience prior to heading out to a show as it was within the hotel we were staying at. Only noticed afterwards they offer a pre-theatre menu but was not offered this at 4.30pm.

Wonderful place for brunch

By Sheryl T |

My friends came here right before a protest march for brunch on a Saturday. Most everyone had a fritatta which they raved about. I had two eggs over easy with whole wheat toast. At first the waitress said there was not whole wheat, but then she checked and there was toast. You can take advantage of the $4 mimosas. Excellent coffee.

Gluten free safe!

By katrinangel2 |

Our friends took us here because their daughter is gluten-free. I have to say they are wonderful about food allergies and especially gluten-free options. The kids had pizzas (gluten free), I had the orichetti which was very good, others had the mushroom pasta entrée and butternut squash pasta entrée, everyone enjoyed them. Dessert (all gluten free) was great and the service was very good. I would return if in that neighborhood. I also just want to point out that I am not gluten-free and I thought the food was very good.

A very pleasant evening

By Storyteller745162 |

My family joined with my sister’s family and our nephew for a New Year’s Eve celebration in NYC. We had a very pleasant evening with the service being friendly and efficient. I ordered the Maine Lobster Risotto and my wife chose the lasagna. The servings were quite substantial and were well presented. We also had dessert which was delicious. Overall, a good time was had by all.

Incredible...and safe for celiacs.

By Steve S |

Everything was delicious. Literally everything can be made gluten free, and it was all amazing. Chicken parm, eggplant parm, pastas, breads, desserts.

Great eats

By Donna B |

A small comfortable restaurant with indoor and outdoor eating options. Food is yummy - service great.

Great service, good salads

By Oliver S |

Looking for a quick bite run into this place, right next to the famous yellow car in front of the Kimberly hotel. It's late and the kitchen is about to close, but we manage to get some salads and a bottle of Moet et Chandon, who could ask for anything more!

Careless service

By Local_Tourist_Derby |

Food order only partially delivered. Had to chase up missing items which only came when we’d all practically finished our meal. Quality of mince in the lasagne was really poor and tasted frozen. My plate was removed from behind as I put the last forkful of food into my mouth, which I thought was rude. And then the same thing happened to another in our party. In the shrimp pasta we counted three shrimp. Generally I’d say it was all pretty careless. And it wasn’t busy so there didn’t appear to be a need for such poor service.

Amazing! Must visit if in NYC and looking for high end gluten free dining

By Bob Angry |

The girlfriend had scoped out some gluten free friendly restaurants before we headed to the big city for a little fun. Us country folk aren't used to all the big city hustle and bustle so we were looking for some place nice to enjoy dinner. We were greeted warmly and had our choice of tables as we were there early, about 5. Milan was our server and he was simply amazing. Very friendly, asked about our food allergies and told us about their gluten free kitchen and prep - putting us at ease that we could have a safe dining experience. Soon after we ordered our drinks, gluten free bread with humus was delivered to the table. Delicious. They have a good selection of gluten free beers in addition to a full bar. I choose a blond ale, that was amazing and of course since were in NYC, Mrs. Angry had to get the Apple Martini - get it? Our food was so good too. I recommend the flatbread pizza with peppers and sausage. It is a little spicy, but not overwhelming. When we were leaving, around 6:30, the place was filling up. If you aren't early birds like us, you may want to make a reservation. Note - we were so impressed we actually ended up making 2 visits to Bistango over our weekend in NYC. Much to our delight Milan was our server again! He recognized us and had us at our favorite table right away. We even got some education about Limoncello! You must try it when you visit. The tiramisu is like a slice of heaven too. Wow! Thank you Milan for such a great dining experience.

Excellent meal

By justravel |

A very nice find close to my hotel. This restaurant produces excellent italian dishes and all can be gluten free. (including dessert!). The style and taste was like a very good family restaurant in Italy. If in the neighbourhood, I would recommend this place.

Very good Italian restaurant

By Tobias B |

Great Italian restaurant, the waiters are pleasant, the food is very good and the price is right for New York.

Awesome Lasagna

By Traveller |

I had a business lunch here in August 2017. I ordered the lasagna and it was awesome. A very big portion and very delicious. I would recommend this restaurant for a business lunch. It is relatively quiet and the food and service are very good.

Great service, adequate food.

By Chiquis926 |

We were staying nearby and arriving late we needed a quick supper. Glad we found this restaurant. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome. Service was top notch. Portions were small but adequate. Food was well prepared but lacked some flavor. We had the Black Sea Bass which was grilled perfectly but the julienne squash lacked seasoning. There was no bread served. Dessert was small but tasty. We were satisfied but not overwhelmed. Try the flat bread pizza.

Good Food,Large Portions

By Barbara S |

we had brunch here and the food was so good, the meatballs al Forne were awesome and the bread and hummus to die for..our server Milan was friendly and made our visit enjoyable

Smitparr

By smitparr |

Hard to find good gluten-free. This was GREAT gluten-free. Overall great Italian whether GF or not. Everything on the menu can be made GF-even carrot cake! Wait person asked about food sensitivities right up front instead of making it a big deal or “I’ll have to check with the chef.” Terrific service. Very nice ambiance. We will return whenever we are in NYC.

Great food, wonderful service

By Sheila C |

We were vacationing in New York during my birthday so wanted to find a nice restaurant that both my husband and I (a celiac) would enjoy. We chose Bistango and were thrilled with it on all accounts. The ambience was lovely: it’s quiet and romantic. Our waitress was delightful – very attentive, friendly and personable. Except for a few pastas that offer both gluten and gf options, everything else on the menu is gluten free. It was very exciting to be able to order anything from an extensive menu. Even the gluten free bread was superb (not a word one normally associates with gluten free bread). Can’t wait to return to Bistango on our next trip to New York City!

Gluten Free delight

By Tinamaje |

Fantastic, cosy Italian restaurant - in many restaurants there are limited gluten free options however ALL menu items in Bistango can be prepared gluten free. Friendly, helpful staff and a relaxed atmosphere. GF flatbread pizza, GF pasta alfredo, GF butternut squash ravioli and lasagna were delicious. Highly recommend !

Outstanding service & fantastic quality food. FODMAP friendly!

By Bobalina17 |

My partner and I had dinner as Bistango during our recent trip to NYC and we couldn't recommend highly it enough. The food was really delicious and of a very high quality (my rubbish iPhone photo doesn't do it justice!). The service was easily the best we experienced during our whole holiday. Staff were attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, accommodating and helpful. I'm on the Low FODMAP diet for IBS sufferers and my partner is vegetarian but we both found the menu to be appealing and suitable for our respective dietary restrictions. They even offered to adjust some of the menu options to accommodate my needs. Additionally, they had a really nice gluten free beer! We would recommend this place to friends and family - for people with or without any dietary restrictions. We'll also be back to Bistango if we return to New York!

Great Location and Food

By MAK |

there are so many places in Mid-town but none better than this for quality of food and a place where you can actually hear the others at the table. Great service and menu.

Reasonably good Italian

By opolis50 |

I had dinner there while staying at the Kimberly. I ordered spaghetti with lobster and shrimp, and a side of sautéed greens. The food came really quickly, which was fine since I was dining alone, but would have been too fast if I had a companion and wanted to chat a bit over wine. The spaghetti was fine, nothing special, and the lobster and shrimp didn't have much taste (frozen, likely). The portion was quite small, given the $28 price. The greens were perfect, though, and made a nice accompaniment. I had a white mousse cake recommended by the server for dessert, which was adequate but nothing great. Atmosphere was fine - it's a small restaurant and relatively quiet, which was nice.

Good in the Neighborhood

By Adreastu B |

Food was very well prepared and excellent. Service was very friendly and efficient, maybe a bit rushed. Started with excellent home made bread with hummus and olive oil. Lobster ravioli was very well prepared, tasty and a great choice. The vegetable pappardelle was very full of vegetables and well prepared with home made pasta and shaved parmesan. The carrot cake was excellent with an unusual addition of almond and cherry and a dollop of delicious whipped cream.

Good service, mediocre food, small portions

By LoveToTravelWhenICan |

The menu offerings are not vast. The prices do not seem awful for Manhattan--until the small portions come out. Also not much flavor. Our server was very good.

An experience not to pass up and one you won't forget

By Global55174507061 |

The food was delicious but delicious food in NYC is not hard to find. What made the difference was our experience. From the moment we were greeted by Harry, the bellman for the Kimberly Hotel, to the time we were presented our check by Stefan, our server, we were in love. The warmth and friendliness were captivating. We did not feel like we were one of many - we felt special and our dining experience was special. Milan, the manager, came by many times to check on how were were doing, and we loved chatting with him about our lives and about his. We love vegetables and Bistango did not disappoint. Stefan, our server, steered us in the direction of the arugula salad and the autumn vegetables (so great) and when it came time for our main course, my daughter chose the mussels/pasata and I chose the Branzino. We were thrilled by the taste of both and by the presentation. It was my daughter's birthday and the restaurant staff joined in to celebrate and sing as they presented her with cake and chocolate covered strawberries. Above and beyond any hopes or expectations. Sead, one of other servers and Andrea, the hostess, even came over to sing to us. So magical. There are many places to choose from in NYC but you would be wrong to miss the chance to dine here - quick walk from Grand Central ( 12 minutes) or a speedy subway ride (and 2 minute walk). You will feel special and warm if you choose this restaurant. It just may make you want to stay in the Kimberly Hotel!.

Style not substance

By OurFamily |

Broccoli rabe drowned in oil. Sausage with sugar in the blend. And--- margarita flatbread with sweet tomato sauce. A margarita flatbread ought to be the test of a restaurant like a Bach invention for a pianist. Failed the audition. Maybe it's NY style. Good bread and smart cute waiter though.

Way to go for Safe Gluten Free

By Empire-City-Lover |

Dined here on a Tuesday evening early and ordered take out on a Friday evening. Nice place...inside the lobby of the Kimberly Hotel. Pleasant décor. Three of us ate on Tuesday evening. Our server was excellent, knew the menu, answered our questions and made good recommendations. We had Gnocchi (Gluten-Free), Eggplant Parmesan and Lasagna. Both Gluten-Free and regular bread plus humus were brought to the table. The humus had an interesting orange flavoring to it. The only miss was the Lasagna....just mediocre. The Eggplant and Gnocchi were outstanding. Ordering take out around 7:00 pm on Friday we were disappointed to learn they were "out of Eggplant". Also when picking up the meal, no bread was provided. We had to ask for it. Were told they do not give bread with take out. What? Would not hesitate to return here in the future.

Great GF pasta

By natalia |

The gluten free selections were great, excellent cocktails to go with it! Servers were amazing and knowledgeable with the diet restrictions. Amazing staff at the hotel too - I was allowed to borrow an umbrella to walk back to my hotel in a pouring rain.

We stopped for drinks and loved it!

By David P |

Not many places have Aperol Spritzes in the US. That alone made me love this place. The server went out of his way to make us comfortable, and the drinks were perfect. We had a couple of plates of appetizers, and loved them - the mushroom pizza and the meatballs were outstanding!

The best restaurant I tried in Manhattan

By Sandro A |

If you go to New York and the Manhattan neighborhood you can't miss going to Bistango. Excellent cuisine and extremely helpful staff. Absolutely worth trying

Gluten Free Arancini!!

By Joanne H |

Since I tried the location in Kips Bay and loved it, I wanted to check out this location. They have a different menu and pretty much everything can be made gluten free. I ordered the Arancini since I have never had it since going gluten free. This appetizer will not disappoint! I was also brought out some gf bread that was excellent. For my entree I ordered the rigatoni with the braised short ribs. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the short ribs were tender and oh so delicious. I highly recommend this for anyone with Celiac disease. They know what they are doing and the food is amazing!

Unexpectedly Delicious

By Mary D |

Decided to have dinner at the hotel restaurant tonight and it was surprisingly delicious. Everything was a la cart. Ordered asparagus flatbread, meatballs, rice balls and a pasta dish with roasted cauliflower and breadcrumbs. The meatballs were so so, but the rice balls were fantastic as was the flatbread and pasta dish. Friendly service, nice atmosphere.

Wonderful east side dinner spot

By BSCone |

The homemade hummus was a delight and I highly recommend the prosciutto ravioli. The bourbon Manhattan was perfection, as well.

So good!!!

By Flechar |

While spending four days at The Kimberly we enjoyed dining at Bistango several times. The meatballs were scrumptious, the carrot cake devine and the vanilla/lemon sunday delicious and refreshing. We did not have an entre since this was an after theater snack. We did return for dinner, meatballs (they're that good!) and eggplant parm, very tasty. Sunday brunch was also a hit, French toast and a classic tortilla, along with hummus and fresh bread made for a perfect meal!!!! We especially enjoyed the choice of dining inside or al fresco!

Disappointing

By 713 |

After hearing so much about the allergy friendly menu, my partner and I decided to try out the Kimberly Hotel Bistango on our recent trip to the city. My partner has four food allergies (gluten, dairy, soy and eggs) and we were hopeful that Bistango would be able to accommodate them. Unfortunately, while the gluten-free bread and hummus was a promising start, our meals did not live up to the hype. My partner’s octopus appetizer was fishy and my arugula salad was salty. There was only one entree option that my partner could eat and even I, a vegetarian, felt pigeonholed into one entree choice. My partner’s gluten and egg free “dry pasta” was undercooked. Overall, the experience was disappointing. I usually only leave positive reviews however I don’t want another guest with multiple food allergies to visit this restaurant expecting amazing food. The food was okay, but nothing special. We had heard that this place was a godsend for people with food allergies but I think we would have been better off taking our chances at a normal restaurant. That said, I’m sure someone with only a gluten allergy would enjoy Bistango a lot more than we did.

Very accommodating to food allergies

By dc1232015 |

Great. Really go out of their way to do accommodations for food allergies. Chicken was great as well as the pasta. Homemade cheesecake was delicious.

Great place for gluten-free breakfast (or lunch or dinner)

By Seattle98101 |

I was so excited when I read their menu and it said that EVERYTHING on the menu can be made gluten free! If you're unable to eat gluten, it becomes a chore to search through menus and try to find what you can eat, so it's amazing to find a place where you can order whatever you want! I had the blueberry pancakes. A huge serving of light, fluffy pancakes with blueberries inside and blueberry compote on top. Really good. Hubby ordered an omelette, which he said was a bit overcooked/dry. The OJ is not fresh squeezed, unfortunately. But overall, it was a good meal and I would go back next time I'm in New York.

Depends on who's cooking.

By judi2 |

I had the flatbread and meatballs the first time and it was delicious. The next time it was not as good as it was daytime. I know the night chef was very good. Small portions but good. Service was good.

Great Sunday Brunch

By Gary W |

I had a Wild Mushroom Frittata. It was great. The service was impeccable. No wait, and very reasonable price for food in that area.

Inexpensive Brunch

By Brian P |

Delicious breakfast with very accommodating staff. While staying in the area we decided to try Bistango for Sunday brunch and were very pleased.

Gluten Free Bonanza

By janleed321 |

We had a family birthday at this restaurant. Four of us must eat gluten free food. Bistango totally gets it. The variety and quality was exceptional. It's not often you can find a place to meet those needs safely. The wait staff was pleasant and handled our large group in a professional manner.

Cooked to death

By Lillybabeytiktok |

Expensive food you could buy at any low budget diner for half the price. Rare meet cooked past well done to unchewable. Don't waste your money.

Great place to meet friends or take a client

By pkgreen2018 |

Inside the Kimberly Hotel in midtown east is Bistango. This place has amazing food and an attentive staff set in a simple and classic environment -- the wood burning oven churns out amazing flatbread pizzas and offers a gluten-free selection. I took my client there for dinner recently and we were completely impressed with the freshness of the cuisine, attentive staff and vast menu selection. Their oven is a focal point of the restaurant with several staff members firing up roasted meats and colorful and appetizing flatbreads. The alluring scent of fresh bread permeated the air. Here are several of my recommendations (see photos). Start with an antipasti: The Mussels are prepared with white wine, garlic, shallots, tomato and crushed red pepper. The mussels were fresh and tender and basking in the flavorful sauce that didn't overpower the entire dish -- order bread for dipping -- delicious. The pasta dishes change regularly and on this occasion I ordered the special linguine in a robust red sauce, scallions, oregano and seafood. Mouthwatering. For entree my guest and I decided to share a simple dish. Bell and Evan's Chicken. This roasted poultry comes with roasted vegetables and marsala pan jus. It truly hit the spot and we both decided to return for our next dinner meeting to try their braised lamb shank. It passed out table and we were in awe of the presentation.

Fabulous find!

By camemom |

Had New Year's Eve dinner here - fabulous meal, fabulous service! Comfortable set up for outdoor dining - one of the best I've seen! Warm, decorated for festivities - didn't feel like a makeshift Covid hut! Can't say enough - so happy to have found the restaurant!

A disappointing dinner

By Gabriel H |

We dined at this place at the recommendation of our hotel's concierge. He made reservations for us and, as we arrived around 7:30 pm, we were promptly guided to our table by a helpful and smiling receptionist. The place was empty, although by 8:30-9:00 pm, it almost filled up. The dining area is modest and looks somewhat tired, like the rest of the Kimberly hotel. However, it looked clean and the wait staff was pleasant and friendly. We had in mind a nice Italian restaurant and for that, this was the wrong place. The menu is rather limited, especially in the pasta department. I ordered the pappardelle with sundried tomatoes and asparagus. It arrived with a rather peculiar (and not too pleasant) aroma. The pasta was poorly prepared, possibly microwaved: the strips were stuck to each other and some were dry. Certainly, no resemblance to a fresh, well prepared pasta. My wife ordered the grilled octopus: first we were told they were out of it, then, the kitchen scrambled up one order. We were concerned about this, but it turned out to be quite lovely. A lovely glass of Traminer from Alto Adige and a Sauvignon from Friuli saved the antipasti. The Short RIbs with Marrow came as the main course. The ribs were somewhat tender, but also dry and not very tasty. The Marrow Bone was there, but they brought no instrument to scrape it out, nor bread or crackers to spread it on. After waiting for one, then the other, I was finally able to enjoy the little marrow that was there, by then rather on the cold side. My wife requested a basic, fresh linguine with Bolognese sauce on the side. It was good, although the sauce was far too tomato-y. The White Chocolate cake was a de-constructed version: good, but not great. The best part of the meal was an excellent bottle of Sagrentino de Montefalcone. Overall, for an Italian restaurant in the middle of Manhattan, this was a mediocre meal, at Manhattan prices, even after they removed my pappardelle from the bill.

Amazing gluten free options!!

By Simon and Hanna D |

It is very rare to find a restaurant with so many gluten free options on the menu! All pizzas, pastas and sandwiches could be served as a gluten free meal. My husband was able to have a normal pizza base for his meal and I could finally have a gluten free delicious chicken sandwich! They even provided me with GF bread prior to the meal! So pleased to hear about this place :)

Highly recommend italian gem in midtown.

By MarcB1981 |

Amazing food. Excellent service. Full menu comes in GF version. This is our favourite italian restaurant in middtown for lunch and dinner.

a great find

By ViviColumbiaMaryland |

We were staying at the Marriott Midtown and were looking for a casual breakfast. We happened on the Bistango lured in by the circular salt water fish tank in the lobby. Though it turned out to be more than we were looking for, being the Christmas season we were happy to have a delicious brunch in such a festive, elegant setting. Nice, attentive waiters and good choices. I had the classic frittata which came with delicious roasted potatoes and far too much food for me. I would say the brunch portions were generous. Prices were NY but not exorbitant. I would return.

Amazing dinner!

By Elizabeth O |

I ate here with a friend and our daughters the other night. The food was amazing (and safe for someone with celiac disease), the service was great, and I would definitely recommend eating here to anyone!

Gluten free restaurant at The Kimberly Hotel.

By CHILL617 |

Fantastic waitstaff at this restaurant. The mocktails were good. The red snapper was fabulous! They can make any meal on the menu gluten free! Gluten free bread and hummus were Ok. I will return here someday.

Great Italian

By C3650SCjimd |

The meatballs are great. Need a little more salt and pepper, but great. The Veal Milanese was excellent and a huge portion. The waitstaff was great. Small six person bar which overlooks the open kitchen. I would go back for sure.

Great food and gluten free

By Abbie M |

Lovely location and was amazed that everything on the menu (including all the deserts) could be made gluten free. Staff were very friendly and attentive.

Problem with fruit flies spoiled our meal

By DebSA22 |

Decided to try Bistango with a Groupon for a NYC brunch experience. Walking in was pleasantly surprised by how clean and appealing the restaurant looked. Settled in and ordered brunch cocktails which were well made and tasty. Then the waiter brought out bread and hummus and the trouble began. We started noticing tiny little bugs which appeared to be fruit flies attacking the bread. Not good. Thought maybe we were making a big deal out of nothing. We moved the bread out of our way and ordered. In short we could not eat our meals, although they looked good, since we were attacked by these little flies when the food came out. After killing 3 of them on my plate that was it for me.. The waiter couldn't have been nicer and offered to make us happy but sadly that was impossible since no doubt the fruit flies were all over the kitchen too since it was open air. We left without eating and I will not try them again. Fix your bug problem I can't believe we are the only diners affected by this.

Incredible service and food

By James S |

We went here for our anniversary on the 3rd of September and the service we received was amazing, the staff was so friendly and polite. The food was also great, good portion sizes and very fresh.

Greatest Gluten Free meal I have had in years.

By Charlie S |

We have to say the food and the service at this place were 5+ stars. As they advertise, everything on the menu can be done gluten free (except the carrot cake). They make their own pasta by hand and have the recipe perfectly set. Flat bread lunch was great, salad with chicken was perfect and we had two of us trying the papardella pasta meal in regular and in gluten free. You have to have been there to hear the MMMMMMMMM from both eaters. The waiter, Milan, was better than great. Friendly and knowledgeable and made the time there like a family outing eating right from the kitchen. Price was right on and desert was well worth it. We are planning to return in December for early dinner on our Radio City Rockettes outing with more friends needing gluten free meals. Worth the trip from anywhere in NYC. We will want to try the 29th street location to compare.

disappointed after a wonderful meal at another Bistango

By Lydia M |

The visit to the 3rd Street Bistango was such a highlight on our last trip that we wanted to go during this trip to NYC. The service was erratic and the food largely disappointing. My brother's eggplant parm was burned but came so much later than our food that he just ate it. My gluten free dairy free option and my daughter's - so yummy the last time was dry and tasteless. The food and wine just seemed highly overpriced compared to our other dining experiences on this trip. I do think that my family's appetizers were fine as were their desserts so not all was lost.

Gluten-free for foodies!

By Ida D |

My husband and I are runners and travel to NYC several times a year to run in races. We are also gluten sensitive and Bistango is our go to restaurant for pre-race dinners. Service is excellent and the flatbreads and pastas are so well prepared it's hard to believe that they're gluten-free! On our most recent visit, we had the Margherita flatbread, which was quite tasty and the saffron pappardelle, which was excellent. We also shared a new dessert - lemon curd gelato with caramel sauce and hazelnuts, which was divine! This restaurant is reliably consistent in the quality of their food and the attentiveness of their service! An outstanding choice for gluten sensitive/free diners!

Delicious meals, amazing service, great atmosphere

Went for a lovely Saturday evening dinner with my wife, mother-in-law and two children under 2. The food was amazing, the service was impeccable, and we will definitely be back!

Good solid Mediterranean inspired dishes

By The_bald_gourmet |

Bistango is located in the Kimberly Hotel but don't let that put you off! The restaurant delivers good quality Mediterranean inspired dishes in a pleasant setting accompanied by good service. The grilled octopus salad was very good with a good char on the octopus that was cooked to perfection. The meatballs were also delicious if rather sweet. Service was attentive and very professional.

I'm in heaven

By Diane B |

I had dinner at the Bistango with my husband and friends. I have to eat gluten free and everything on the menu can be made gluten free. I had stuffed butternut squash ravioli which was so incredibly wonderful. The maitre'd was so nice and accomodating. I am definitely coming back to this restaurant on my NY trips.

Amazing GF Italian!!

This restaurant is outstanding! Amazing GF good. Every single thing on the menu is GF and absolutely delicious. Great service too. Thrilled to find fantastic GF Italian. So very rare.

Gluten free Italian

So great to find gluten free pasta and bread. The pasta was a bit too al dente for me, but the icecream was amazing. I'll be back.

Found a Gem

By James M |

Our mixed group of friends and family were famished after touring Midtown Manhattan last Saturday. Our ages ranged from 64 to 11 and we had been all over Rockefeller Center from Legoland to Cartier Sterling Silver Plane. Part of the group has gluten intolerance so we found Bistango online as a close candidate within a short walk. So happy to find this gem of a restaurant. The food was excellent well presented and the service was fantastic.

Excellent for the true gluten free diner

By DrDelR |

We have a family member who has celiac disease. This is not a gluten sensitivity or “allergy” as some diners feel they have. This is a medical diagnosis whereby if someone digests even a micro amount of gluten, it can mean an evening in the emergency room. As a result, we are keenly sensitive to restaurants who give lip service to gluten free dining and those who live it. This restaurant serves the latter. They present a traditional Italian menu but simply state that anything on their menu can be prepared gluten free. The bronzino was lightly crisp and flavorful. Mussels in a wine garlic sauce were plentiful and also perfect. All our other entrees— short rib, margarita flat bread , and all the desserts were perfect. Of note: everything on the dessert menu are gluten free. Our reservations were for 7pm. By 8pm the restaurant was flowing and filled with diners. The high ceilings and artwork made for a relaxing ambience. It struck the nice balance between enjoying the feel of a city restaurant while being able to converse easily. Lastly, for our celiac diner: it was a joy to be able to eat and enjoy as if the condition were not a thought.

Flawless service, easy on the eyes and no fuss

By Marc B |

This was a repeat visit for dinner out. Plenty of dinner choices, good service for a guest with allergies, superb presentation and all-around delicious. From experience, we all saved room for dessert.

Brunch with the Family

By StanF28 |

Wanted to book a reservation for Brunch for 7 people at Sarabeth’s on Central Park South, but it was not available. As an alternative, booked a table at Bistango in the Kimberly Hotel. I had gone to a restaurant at this location years ago... it was quite good, so decided to give it a try. The menu was somewhat limited, but interesting. Four of us ordered three different types Fitrattas, one Eggs Benedict, one French Toast, and other the Blueberry pancakes. They were all good, except for the Spicy sausage Fritatta, which is what I ordered. Found the service was cordial and the price affordable (for New York standards.

Not A Bad Option For Gluten Free

By Rob O |

We dined at Bistango twice during our NYC trip and had mixed reviews. We stayed at the Kimberly hotel specifically so that my wife who has celiac's could have an easy and safe option for gluten free dining during our trip. For our first meal, we dined in, and it was pretty good. My wife had a wine, and I had an espresso martini. Both were excellent. We split the arancini, my wife had the red snapper and I had the lasagna. The food was good, the service was decent, and overall it was a nice experience. Most importantly, the food was gluten free and safe for celiacs. Because we had a decent first experience, we decided to order room service on our last night for an easy last meal. This is where they really fell short. They were very difficult to get a hold of, when we finally got someone, communication was poor, especially when asking about gluten free options, and they wouldn't deliver up to our room, even though they are listed as a room service option in the hotel's directory book. When we got the food back to the room, we were totally disappointed, as the quality was nowhere near what we had during our first meal with them. My wife's salad was limp and missing ingredients. My cacio e pepe pasta was soaked in oil, greasy and didn't have any black pepper, and the truffle fries were super soggy. After multiple conversations with different staff, we ended up getting the salad taken off our bill for missing ingredients. Overall though, the food was still safe for celiacs. If you are dining in, this is an ok gluten free option in midtown. If you are staying at the hotel and want room service, we strongly suggest ordering from anywhere else in the city, and have a delivery service drop off at the front desk instead.

Fab food Great prices Cosy vibe

They have a great fixed price lunch for $22.99...especially welcoming on these cold Dec winter days...with a glass of red or white for $7 or Peroni $5 For that you get a choice of 5 antipastos Including Soup of the day, Aragula lemon vinaigrette ricotta salad, kale Caesar salads, meatballs or marinated grilled zucchini. Mains or Seconde great choice from 7 -flatbread pizza, chicken, fettuccine, roasted cauliflower, I chose the Bistango burger -delish, eggplant parmigiana and chicken panino. Best Gluten Free Italian Restaurant

By Hugh |

Excellent tasty food with great service. My guest wanted a Gluten Free meal and I picked the best place for it. According to their chef, everything is made in house with fresh ingredients on daily basis, it was obvious when tasting it. I will definitely go back. The only complain was a little cold draft coming in once a while.

Best to sit outside on a sunny day.

Best to sit outside on a sunny day. Nice views, but not the best-around. Food is good. As is the service. Worth a visit with out-of-town GUESTS.

The good Meh!

By Alena V |

Came for dinner here with my colleagues. There was a group of 6 of us back in October. The place is a solid performer with decent service and being able to accommodate the dietary restrictions for some of our group. But I can't say I got anything beyond the good presentation and solid flavors. But there is nothing much I can say beyond that. The flavors are meh, good service, good drinks comfortable menu but that's it.

Wonderful service - delicious food

By Frederick1945 |

We arrived just as they were opening for lunch - hostess and all the wait staff made us feel welcome. As we had been traveling all morning, we asked for coffee right away. This was served quickly, then we were given just the right amount of time to review the menu and ask questions. Food and wine were delicious. We saw that the restaurant filled up quickly [this was a Tuesday] so we'll definitely make reservations next time.

Great gluten free food

By KandT137 |

Passed Bistango and saw their menu said everything could be made gluten free. They weren’t kidding. Everything we tried (ate there two nights in a row) was excellent - butternut ravioli, eggplant parmigiana, meatballs and the cream of mushroom soup was the best!!! Highly recommend for everyone but especially for gluten free eaters. Also, the staff was wonderful and very accommodating.

Excellent

By ParkBoltonEngland |

Visited in September 2016 with my husband and daughter. My daughter is coeliac and what a fabulous meal we had. My daughter was so pleased she started with her own gluten free bread and hummous, then had meatballs for starters and followed with a Chicken pasta dish. Staff were brilliant and knew what they were doing regarding coeliac do's and dont's. Would highly recommend for a lovely meal.

Terrific Restaurant in NYC

By Tina12306 |

I frequent the Bistango as I frequently stay at the Kimberly hotel, where it's located. The service is first rate and the food? Oh so delicious! My favorites are the arugala salad, flatbreads, and their eggplant parmigiana (to die for). Their menu has something for everyone, and I've never had a bad meal there. I could go on and on. But you should treat yourself for lunch or dinner. You won't be disappointed!

The best Italian food (& GF) in midtown

By Curiosity763659 |

We ate here several times for lunch or dinner during out week's stay in Midtown manhattan. We had various dishes from the GF menu (all dishes on menu come in a GF version as well) and all of them delicious. Service is friendly and quick. We will be back when in new york.

Midtown Italian Restaurant for all diners, including Gluten-Free!

By Lori M |

Visited Bistango @ The Kimberly last evening. Chosen due to its welcoming and creative menu options for gluten-free diners, and also its Midtown location. Excellent service, delicious appetizers and entrees. Everyone in our party of 5 enjoyed their meal, but probably not quite as much as this GF-diner. Thanks to the Executive Chef and staff for giving as much attention to the selection of GF handmade pasta as you would normal menu items. It's such a treat to have a finely prepared plate of GF pasta! I was a guest last night so didn't see the final bill for 5, but I suspect it was quite reasonable by NYC standards. Highly recommend this restaurant. The wait staff was superb as well.

Skip This One

By ColumbiaSCTraveler |

It was raining out, so we decided to visit this hotel restaurant. The food was mediocre; seems like they used frozen, pre-made things like the chicken for the chicken parm. The hummus and bread to start was a nice touch. Would recommend the meatballs. We were seated in a corner and the floor looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a while. The club / rave music was also off / out of place.

Mouthwatering!

By James H |

The butternut squash ravioli is to-die-for! Small restaurant within the Kimberly Hotel, but not a typical "hotel restaurant". Highly reccommend!

Unique Italian Menu

By Rick |

Good service, unique Italian menu, upscale, quiet with a good cocktail menu. If you are in the area it is well worth your time.

Wonderful birthday dinner

By Cynthia O |

Bistango was recommended to us as my hubby needs to be gluten free. Amazing food, wonderful service and nice decor. The prices seemed very fair considering this is NY! The eggplant parmigiana is the best I have ever had and is gluten free! I also had the burrata tomato salad. Huge portion! Hubby had the tomato soup and bronzino. Delicious. Too bad we didn't have room for dessert. Next time!!

Great choice for a special occasion!

By davidcohenphotodc |

Three adult children, and two of their significant others, joined my wife and me to celebrate our 40th anniversary here. Great ambience, food, and waiter--it's hard to ask for more! Wonderful for a special occasion, and enough to make just about any occasion special. My personal favorite was my branzino.

One of the best meals we had in NY

By CardiffFloyd |

This was just round the corner from our hotel and we gave it a try based on TripAdvisor recommendation. We were not disappointed. As we were a large party, they sent us upstairs to the rooftop bar in the Kimberley (Bistango is integrated within this hotel)while they sorted a table for us. So glad they did or we wouldn't have discovered this fabulous rooftop bar! Back in Bistango, the service and the food was excellent. Plenty of choice for the veggies amongst us. The restaurant was rather cold but upon mentioning it, they happily turned down the aircon. Great experience.

BEST FLATBREAD RESTRUANT EVER!

By patty l |

My daughter and I were headed for Mimosas on Mother's day when we passed this restruant with a sign about Momosa's and Bloody Mary specials and it was raining. We stopped in and spoke to a hostess who took us back to their bar and introduced us to Milan our waiter. 5 stars to Milan as well as to the food, you could'nt have a better server! There was a person making home made flatbread variations that looked really good. They are baked in a wood fired oven that was facing where we were sitting. We ordered some flatbread and it was out of this world. You will not be disappointed if you try one of the flatbreads . Crispy and very tasty. Also later we tried some of their Hummus which I would also highly recommend. This restruant was a great find on a rainy day in New york city. TRY IT , YOU'LL LIKE IT!

Gluten-free and with taste

we came to eat gluten free and luckily they have a lot of things and made carefully. many dishes are always gluten free, and the staff is very prepared and attentive. it is not a certified place but it is safe and good. thin and crispy pizza, lasagna and pasta. even the desserts are gluten free. to try

Overpriced Buffet

By Joy Sims |

We had the breakfast buffet with friends staying in the hotel. The food was good with a decent selection, but for $30 per person, the diner next door would have been equally as good for far less.

Delicious!

By bobbibrown25 |

After finding out the restaurant I had wanted to go to on the 4th July was closed we were looking at one of the guide books in our room and saw an ad for this restaurant....so very thankful I did. Food 5 stars plus, service 5 stars, ambiance AMAZING. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Choice for gluten-free menus

Lovely food and all of the menu can be gluten free. We sat outside and watched the world go by. Staff were friendly and helpful regarding items on menu.

Amazing food and service

Came here on recommendation while visiting New York for the week and wasn't disappointed. Had octopus salad with roasted peppers, creamy mussels and a bowl of mozzarella glazed meatballs to start. We chose the Scallops and a beautifully cooked and dressed steak followed by the white chocolate mousse. Service was prompt and attentive from our waiter Milan. Would highly recommend.

Perfect for a meal when we arrived from LAX.

Very good Italian. So easy to go downstairs from the Kimberly Hotel and have 2 light dishes. There were Italians eating there, so I assume it is a favorite because it is authentic and has a nice atmosphere where you can hold a conversation.

Great meal and wonderful service

I ordered the meatballs as an appetizer and they were phenomenal. This was a great way to start the meal. My 10 year old daughter loves mussels and ordered them as a meal. They came prepared in a whiteiwne and garlic- she loved them! I ordered the ziti with short ribs. This dish was nothing short of amazing. The pasta was perfect and the short ribs were so tender and the portions was bountiful. They gave me a huge amount of beef and I was very pleasantly surprised. My mothe ordered the veal chop and it was so tasty and tende. Served with the bone in and most likely pan fried to a golden brown. Carrot cake for desert and it was also delicious.

Lovely lunch

Bought a Groupon voucher for Bistango in the UK to use when we visited NYC. We visited on our last day for lunch, and it was delicious. I had the lasagne and my friend had the burger and a beautiful glass of Rose wine for the bargain price of just under £15 ! Well worth it and very tasty ! Thank you.

My wife and I recently ate here for lunch. Located in the Kimberly Hotel this restaurant it predominantly Italian in nature. The fixed-price lunch special is great at a reasonable cost for the amount of food. The wait staff are pleasant and very helpful. Worth a visit.

Easy to eat here with food allergies without compromising on flavor! Staff excellent and caring, food flavorful, prices fair...what more could you want in manhattan? Tomato Bisque is the best ever! GF flatbreads were yummy!

Awesome Restaurant, great food.

The food here is delicious. We started with the Margarita Flatbread Pizza, it was delicious. Then we had the Cream of Mushroom Soup and it was wonderful. We had the Veal Milanesi for our entree, it was good, but a little dry, the arugula that it was topped with had no dressing. The Cheesecake for dessert was delicious. Oh, and they give you hummus with bread to start and the hummus was fantastic.

Lovely Italian Lunch

Came here with some colleagues for a late lunch, we chose from the set menu which we found to be very good value for money in NYC! I had the arancini to start and Eggplant parmigiana for my entree. The service was great and our server was very knowledgeable. Although we were seated outside we were nice and warm under the patio heater and the ambiance was great! The only problem was that there were some annoying little flies that landed in our wine but our wonderful server was quick to replace our drinks free of charge. All in all a lovely lunch and I wouldn't hesitate to return again. Very nice indeed.

Business Lunch with Co-Workers

Group of 10 eating lunch. The food was very good, but I must say the service was a bit slow. The bus boy was great always filling up our water glasses and removing our plates. Took time get our orders and for our food to come out. But we did enjoy the food.

Buffalo Mozzerella and Tomatoes

It was a dark and rainy evening when we went around the block from our hotel in East Midtown to Bistango. It was very busy for a Monday evening, and I was happy to have gotten reservations. The Hotel Lobby and Restaurant entrance was very nice with a huge, circular salt water fish tank that was obviously health as several anemonies were doing very well. Seating was spot on the schedule and our waitress "Laura" turned out to be both excellent and friendly. The above mentioned appetizer and an Insalate Rucula were just wonderful and our main courses of Rigatoni Bolognese and Eggplant were outstanding as well. We were shocked to find no Chianti on the list by the glass, but who needs to drink when the food is so good. It is a small place, but the facility is very pretty and the service was just right.

The food was good. The service was excellent. Prices were reasonable, except deserts which portions were not adequate to its price. Overall, can be visited again.
