Great Food at a High Price

By Lisa Marie D |

The food, staff and, especially the are great here and at all of the locations. The only thing you need to be aware of is the price. I did know that going in, though. 3 burgers and 3 shakes was right around $100 not including the tip. Definitely worth it if you can spend it!

GREAT SURPRISE

By Ricardo J |

Was walking around on a hot Thursday night with my girlfriend and needed a place to cool off and eat something. WHAT A GREAT SURPRISE . I had one of the best burgers of my life (no kidding) and my girlfriend had a salad, the beer was perfectly chilled and the service was awesome. Can't forget the MILKSHAKE, OMG ! A great alternative for a good bite at a laid back spot. Will be back for sure.

Poor service

By Amelia Lacroix |

This review is based on the Black Tap just off bleeker st station in NY. I went to Black Tap restaurant with my partner to celebrate a milestone event. We were really looking forward to our first burger in New York City. As soon as we sat down in the restaurant the waiter asked what we were eating. We asked for 5 minutes to view the menu. She came back in less than 5 minutes asking if we were ready to order. We asked for 5 minutes again. In under 5 minutes another waiter asked if we were ready to order and the previous waiter said- “they said the same thing to me” ??!! What kind of service is that? I felt uncomfortable already. We rushed to order. When receiving the food, the waiters asked continuously if we had finished yet. This service was mind boggling as the restaurant wasn’t even busy. We finally gave in and said we were ready for the bill. I was so reluctant to pay a tip and felt so frustrated that tipping is part of the culture in NY as they really didn’t deserve a tip at all. It was an uncomfortable meal and the food was standard. Would not reccomend.

Awesome Food ... Absolutely godawful service

By Tatjana K |

We have a Black Tap in Geneva and thought it was fun to go see the original. We went to their Ludlow Street location as the original in Soho was really full. We did get a place immediately and ordered. It went relatively quickly. The place was not too full but busy. The burgers and beer are as usual great quality but the service!!!??? A nightmare!!!!! The three ladies were the most unorganised lot I have ever seen. Three to manage the bar and the entire restaurant service was just impossible! The queue at the entrance grew steadily while the three of them just could not manage to take orders, serve, clear and get tables seated. At one point people seemed to go seat themselves which the waitress did not appear to care about! I can safely say I never spent 2 hours in a Burger joint! We waited an eternity to order a second beer and shake. The server running around with her hoody up on her head basically seemed to use it like blinders to avoid having to see to her guests. They all did neither seem happy nor really willing to be there and work. Atrocious!!!!! I stick to my Black Tap in Geneva. At least there the service comes with a smile, and well organised.

Weekend get away.....

By alfredo v |

Food was great, ambiance and graffiti on the walls was outstanding. Prices were reasonable and choices were good from the menu. We didn’t wait long to be seated because we arrived at the right time, but it got crowded fast. Food did not take long after the order was placed which was surprising because I felt like they were a little bit understaffed. In regards to that —my waitress was lost she never came back to the table after she took our order—maybe she was having an off night —so that is why I’m still giving a good rating— she ultimately left after her shift without even coming to the table. The manager came over and apologized for that and they ultimately took the shake and 20% off of the final bill. Which was nice of them. I will return if I find my self in the LES and I do recommend you visit if you are in the area.

Burgers & Shakes

By reviewQueen24 |

Restaurant is known for burgers and shakes, but we were so full from burgers we could’t make room for the shakes. Hope to return one day to try them!

Best food in NYC

By Samuel K |

Food was the best they have the biggest, most sugary and yummy shakes in the world, one of the waitresses told me that the beef was even seared and spiced before and after cooking it and that’s why they have the best burgers in NYC!!!

Great but could be better

By Rye Dreyer |

We were put in the basement, which did not really have amazing decor like on the website. But staff were friendly, burgers good, and shakes ok.

Gluten free burgers

By Ayo |

The vibe here is cool. I’m gluten intolerant and I got the wagyu burger with blue cheese and a side salad. They did say that the burger is done on the same grill as the gluten bread however they do clean off the grill and asked whether I was comfortable with that. I said ok and had the burger. The burger was pretty good. I did not have a reaction so I’m thinking that they did an excellent job cleaning off the grill !

Best shakes!!!

By Maria Sen |

I visited this weekend for a milkshake and snacks- loved this place! Probably one of the best milkshakes I’ve ever had! I tried the Sweet N’ Salty (peanut butter) shake. The atmosphere was upbeat and fun so stop in for the good food & great service.

Great!

By Iain P |

This was a real find, great service. Burgers were really tasty! Fried pickles and crispy Brussel sprouts were fantastic starters

Get a Shake!

By Vaca555 |

What the heck, Im on vacation so I got the pizza burger. OMG! it had mozzarella sticks inside of it for the cheese. Delicious! The staff was amazing, they were so friendly and accommodating. The specialty shakes are huge! Large enough for a family to share. The smaller ones are delicious and enough for two people to share. I recommend this spot for a beer and a burger and a shake for the kids.

King Shake!!!!

By Mark S |

We specifically came here for the shakes. This place was the one on Broome Street near 6th Avenue. I knew in the summer there were lines up to 5 hours just for a shake! We went in January hoping we could get straight in and we did. We sat at the bar on ground level. The staff were great, very friendly and welcoming. We ordered Diet cokes, Guac & chips and onion rings. The rings were the size of bangles and the guac and chips felt like they would never end. Great food so far. Then what we came for, the shakes. I ordered the king shake and my wife just watched me demolish it. Wow! Never had a shake like it. A slice of cake on top with a cherry on, whipped cream above and below, frosting around the edge and a delicious shake inside the glass. Mmmmmmmm! I totally recommend you visit here, we will when we come back to New York.

Great restaurant and great service!

We were here with our two kids aged 9 and 11. They got the freakshakes and were over the moon. Great service and exellent food.

Nice Lunch Spot and decadent milk shakes

By Salle53 |

Stopped in Black Tap for lunch while on the Lower East Side. Burgers, fries and salads were good. Service was great and Alexandria was attentive. We were sitting where we could see the milk shakes being made which looked divine. I never saw such decadent milk shakes. I was just too full to get one for dessert. Portions of food was satisfying and filling

Ate here after Tenement Museum

By Alison D |

Great spot! The burgers and fries are delish, but was very impressed with healthy options as well. I had a kale and quinoa salad with a turkey burger on top. The desserts looked amazing, but I didn't partake.

Good first visit, not so the second

By Steven E |

First visit for burgers the service was spot on (as were the burgers) Second visit there was warm water already on the table which I didn't want to drink on a 28c day and this was not replenished (and wasn't on any other table) - the service generally was also quite rushed. Shakes were good but quite expensive for what they were were.

Would never visit again

By 26melanien |

Terrible food, rude weight staff, absolutely no service, and they charge you a tip when there’s only six of you even though they did not service you Food was missing so much. Couldn’t even find our waiter to let them know that our food was missing so much would never go here again would never recommend it, and the floors are slipperier than banana peels. I almost fell walking in and considering I have a cane wasn’t happy had a baby with us wasn’t even offered a highchair they tried to fit six grown adult adults and a baby into a booth we did not fit asked if we could sit in the little table right next to us and we were told no although nobody was sitting there the entire time we had our meal

Great burger

By Mlh |

We dropped in here for burgers n beer. There are other cheaper burger joints nearby but we preferred the atmosphere here. Not loud. Not big. Had the all american and the old fashioned. Both delicious!! The couple at next table had a milkshake each. Each milkshake looked like a meal and a half. Crazy milkshakes!! We would definitely go back for the burgers. Fries were nothing extra but were hot and crispy

Decent but Overpriced

By MichaelNate |

I'd like to give this place another chance because I wasn't insanely impressed the first time around. The menu is a bit pricey and the selection of beers wasn't as great as I'd hoped, but the burger I ordered was pretty good. The menu is also a bit too expensive for the appearance of the place; it was somewhat dingy given the sleek external facade.

Black Tap wonderful

By Wendy |

Just eaten at Black Tap Westfield’s for the first time and it was fabulous ! Hallam served us he was lovely and really helpful, explained everything really well ! We will definitely visit again and would highly recommend

Great staff and cake milkshakes!

By Beamaria |

Its a bit pricey for a burger and cake milkshake but food is really yummy. Staff are great very friendly and helpful. Would definately go back here.

Crazy Shake

By Matt B |

We took the subway and a short walk so our daughter could have a Crazy Shake, which did not disappoint. This was a quaint cozy location, most of the seating is at the bar.. The server/bartender was friendly and informative. Worth the Trip!!!

Went here for the shakes, and it turns out the burgers are to die for

By Elizabeth G |

Had to wait, long line, in the cold. But once inside, all that forgotten. Wasn't sure I would like a whole shake but ordered one anyway, and that was all my daughter wanted. I ordered the burger on a whim and it turns out it was the best burger I have had in a long time. And the shakes were great too!

Amazing place

By MRSELLIE |

Was full when we arrived but front of house managed to squeeze us in! A great menu and vibe. Two minutes from empire state! Food was fantastic and a great menu to choose from would definitely go back

Pretty good

By Arrin F |

Popped in here when Sweet chick was closed for a private party. Did a quick look up and saw they were popular for burgers and their shakes. Cant comment on either since we went chicken sandwich and cheeseburger salad. Both weren’t bad. Fries were good and my chicken was also. No magical though. Beers were also good. About 15 local breweries on tap. Would go again for a burger.

Best part of my trip to lower east side

By Kathleen R |

Excellent food and phenomenal milkshakes—-worth every bite! Staff was welcoming and food delivered an awesome experience!!

Good, but heavy eating

By Maggie |

My husband is a bigggg burger guy and wants to go here every time we venture into NYC. The food, service, and atmosphere are all very good. However, it is ust way too heavy for my taste. Even the salad is heavy. Long story short, if you want a big burger followed by a long walk around the city, this is your place. My husband loves it.

Tasty burger! Margarita’s are amazing!

By Jackie O |

Really loved the vibe in this place, cool little spot. Food was amazing and huge portions. The margarita stole the show! Didn’t get a shake but I’d say get a margarita instead it was the best! Lots of different burgers to choose from, really enjoyed it!

VISUALLY INCREDIBLE SHARE

By Mike P |

Service was friendly . Burger was real tasty and we were given plenty of fresh fries. The real star was the shake. It looked huge and was colorful. It was a good experience

Pretty much just a cool picture

By MelissaClaire93 |

I’ve heard a lot of hype around Black Tap and the milkshakes but they’ve always been really crowded every time I’ve passed. We came at around 11 on a Friday and it wasn’t super busy (was also the start of the corona scare so that may have dampened the crowds). We got a little chips and guac appetizer and a milkshake to share. The milkshake is so cool to look at but very messy and hard to actually eat. Honestly you go for the picture of the milkshake. Some of the food looked like it might have been good but appeared very expensive (even for NY prices). I don’t think I’d ever go again.

Horrible service, overpriced, and food wasn’t great.

By Annesia L |

The wings were great and the burgers were just ok. Our waitress Amanda, gave horrible service! She never came to check on our tables and we had to ask for refills. Our entire family came but sat at different tables and yet she put all of our food on one bill, instead of separate tabs. Her intention was to make sure she had a higher gratitude. The supervisor did nothing to rectify the issue. Don’t waste your time coming here.

Relaxed and friendly

By Amanda H |

We where staying at the Ludlow hotel and just flown in from London and needed to eat and stay awake to beat the jet lag! Black tap is right next door and offered the food you need! Relaxed, friendly and modest pricing. Not much more to say!

Black Tap Blew Our Minds

By Joseph S |

We just celebrated our sons 8th Birthday at Black Tap after taking in the Blue Man Group. Although they don't take reservations the wait was less than 10 minutes. ALEXANDER greeted us at the door and saw to it that we were seated quickly. Lucky for us, He was also our server. Food was delicious. From the Black Tap Burger Salad, to the Crispy Brussel Sprouts and the amazing, over the top Shakes !! One was better than the next. Even though Alexander was hustling every minute waiting tables and seating guests, he was very attentive to us and ensured our boys birthday was remarkable. He was very personable, warm and friendly..we will definitely be coming back again, but it will have to be on a Thurs thru Sunday...that's when Alexander is working !!

Crazy Milk Shake and Wonderful Hamburger

By Denis Costa Jr. |

Great burgers and locally brewed beer

By Camping-Fran |

We visited (myself and 12 yr old son) on our first evening in Manhattan. The service was efficient and welcoming. We had guac and chips, the Carolina burger and a falafel burger. All were really really tasty. The portions were generous but not excessive. The choice of locally crafted beers was great. They added an 18% service charge to the bill and the waitress, spotting us as tourists, discretely told me that there was no need to leave a further tip which i found very professional - i find tipping in NYC a minefield having once been publicly berated by a waitress for getting my maths wrong. It was 25 yrs ago but i can still feel the humiliation! No such situation here. Highly recommended.

Great Burger and shakes

By Hernan Salvador |

Great place for a quick bite in the Soho area. Clean and friendly staff. I think the main attraction for this place are the milkshakes.

Oh, you have to try this place

By Bill P |

Little hole in the wall place and EXCELLENT. Went downstairs, the IPA is delicious. Had a couple burgers and they were close to the best, if not the best I have had anywhere in the world. Really friendly staff and great service

Crazy Shakes and burgers!

By Melissa M |

I saw this place advertised as an instagramable spot and the crazy shakes looked impressive! We tried a cake shake and a burger they were so good! Highly recommend Black Tap.

Fun, decadent lunch!

By Galilayo79 |

Great burgers, amazing milkshakes. Was pleased to see that at noon on a Saturday, we were able to walk in with no wait. Was much busier when we left. The only thing preventing me from giving it 5 stars is the cost! It's an expensive place for burgers and shakes.

Nice enough fast food burgers

By Laura C |

This is a burger restaurant attached to the Kixby hotel. Fast food. A range of different burgers and milkshakes available. Large portions.

Great dessert

By turkjj25 |

We went for lunch and also for dessert. The lunch was just ok but the dessert definitely made up for it. We got the cookie shake and it was soooooo good!!! You definitely shouldn’t try to tackle this monster alone. I really wanna go back to try a different one!

Good food, service and atmosphere

By Lisa B |

We stopped here for dessert for my two sons. Besides the awesome shakes, we got wings, onion rings and mozzarella squares. Everything was beyond great! The wait staff, were friendly, and informed us there was a delay since there was a rush of people. But even with more people, the staff kept up and I had no idea that more people came in, especially since the layout of the place is perfect. I felt comfortable and enjoyed every thing there. We will be back for sure!!
