BEER!

By GonJeff |

Great Selections fun atmosphere Greenwich Village Icon, if I am in the village we can count on stopping here for a beer

Excellent selection of craft beers

By Mike K |

This is one of my favorite craft beer bars. I make a point to come here whenever I am in New York City. They have one of the best selections of craft beers anywhere, and they also feature cask-conditioned ales, which few places in the USA do. The staff is friendly, and will let you sample a few beers before you decide on one. The place can get crowded at times, especially after work hours and on weekends.

Good beer and food in a crowded space.

By Donna W |

Great selection of beers and bar staff who really want to give you something you'll enjoy. Was pleasantly surprised by the food which was above normal bar standards. Had some tacos, brussel sprouts, fingerling potatoes, all great!

Crowded bar and beer menu

By Derek D |

We visited Blind Tiger along with a local beer connoisseur and were not disappointed, although it was (from what we were told) unusually crowded and thus stuffy inside. We were there on a Wednesday evening, but the crowd could be attributed to those just out of work getting a drink before the start of a long Independence Day holiday. Regardless, the beer selection was truly superb. I think that with less of a rush and more sitting room, we might have stayed longer to enjoy more of what they had on tap. What we did have was unique and in some cases rare or otherwise difficult to find. I'd definitely like to check this place out again, maybe during an afternoon with fewer patrons.

NICE CORNER PUB

By MeAndVerusBlue |

Good selection of draft and bottle beer in a modest size pub. 2 drink minimum if using a credit card.

Caught in the middle, no longer a great pub, not a great restaurant.

By weejim |

I was a Tiger customer first in 2004, back then it was a pub with the best beer in NYC, and a true pub with atmosphere, whenever in the city I have always made an effort to get to Bleecker. Today sure there are nice beers still, cask was a little warm, keg a little too cold and US glasses are very small. More than half the beers were offered in 12 oz or less. Had an OK grilled Cheese and ham sandwich, and it seemed the food was almost as big a draw as the beer. It is now a restaurant not a pub. Although the BT started the trend that means craft beer and IPAs now dominate NYC, and while it may be great for the BT and great for others how things have developed, I don't think as a "pub" the BT has improved. It's a much less pleasant place to go out just drinking. So as you now can get good beers in better pubs I guess I will make the pilgrimage to where it started a little less often in the future.

Superb craft beer place!

By Carl S |

Read about this place online and decided to seek it out. There was a choice of 30 different craft lines ranging from 4-11% abv. Absolute great choice. $1 off draught beer mon-fri daytimes. Couldn't try everything even tho we wanted to! A must for beer lovers!

Favorite Pub in NYC

By HippieChickee |

My husband and I returned from a 3 day weekend in NYC and popped in and out of our fair share of pubs throughout the weekend. The Blind Tiger Ale House on Bleecker was recommended to us by a friend and it was our favorite spot. Lots of beer on tap and the bartenders were knowledgable about the selection. While we didn't eat, the menu looked fabulous and a step up from typical bar food. I wish it was down the street from where we lived as we would be regulars!

Warm fire on a cold day!

By Allan M |

The day we visited was bitterly cold and the fire crackling in the fireplace was very inviting and warmed us up. This allowed some very good 5 Boroughs IPA to then cool us down again!

Absolutely fabulous

By RissNah |

The best food on my entire trip!! Grilled halloumi and quinoa was delicious! Add the cider to quench your thirst and my day was made!! Wonderful place

An OK Ale House and I don't even like ale

By arts20th |

Blind Tiger trends toward a youngish crowd, but not horribly. The atmosphere they generate is really OK comfortable. Look, I met friends there. And it's so much not my kind of place that I drank wine in that craft beer bar. But listening to friends expound on the finer points of brewing, I found my malbec was really pretty good. Who can fault a beer place so eclectic? A little loud when it was crowded. Still, surprisingly comfortable to stand and drink...not that I'd do it all the time. My beer expert friends enjoyed "running the list."

Beertopia.

By 56th2014 |

Blind Tiger not only predates the real beer movement, but was already a local institution whilst localised, craft brewing was but a twinkle in the hipster’s bourgeois eye. 27 taps is not enormous for the States (Sunset Grille & Tap in Boston has 112), but it represents at least a days (ahem) effort. Europe is much more bottle-centric (400+ in Belgium is not uncommon; you need more like 800 to stand out, like Kulminator, Antwerp), so for Jonny foreigner, this array of taps is bewildering in all the right ways. A fantastic quirk of Blind Tiger is the countdown to the tapping of a new brew: when I was there, the chalk board told me that at 5pm, a new saison will be opened for sale. Given that I decided to wait a few hours for this, I can’t remember exactly what this tasted like.

Fantastic “cozy” bar, great atmosphere and beer

By johnnyepalino |

Went with family and the place was packed with what appeared to be locals just getting off work. The service was excellent. They had a very good selection of beer, but what I loved the most was the atmosphere - felt like a place I would go to all the time if I lived in NYC.

Beer is good

By Daniel W |

Firstly, (and I know it's not a food place, and I'm not sure what the rest of the food is like but) to whoever made the 'pigs in blankets': have you actually tried eating these before serving them to customers? They were completely inedible. The jackets aren't supposed to be made of rubber. I couldn't eat them, and I NEVER leave sausages, ever. Beer however was excellent, as expected. And the barmaid was lovely. I accidentally put a $20 in with the ones when I tipped because I'm a massive bumbling English idiot, but she brought it right back over to our table. A great boozer I'll definitely visit again.

Good beer selection, small NY bar

By ClemoUK |

The Blind Tiger is exactly what I expected from a small New York bar. We came across this bar when some friends and I visited in January so it was pretty cold outside but they had a real fire going inside so that only added to the warm and cosy atmosphere. There was a good selection of beers and the food (although we didn't sample any) looked good as it was being served. Nice joint and worth a drop in if you this way of town.

Big selection of U.S. beers on tap

By Touchbase |

We've only hit the Blind Tiger in the summer months for late lunches and brews but it remains a favorite when we are in the neighborhood. Very relaxed, decent food and great beer selection, friendly staff (and customers). We have never experienced crowds during the day. Worth going a little out of the way for if you like a huge, decent selection on tap.

Fab bar must visit

By leannep850 |

This bar was a great find. Loads of choice of beer. It was busy all the time therefore you may have to stand and not get a table. The food looked nice although u never tried it as it was just too busy to enjoy a meal. Service was fast. Really enjoyed my visit

Good beer and great food

By jbeezer24 |

This place has a good selection of craft and seasonal beers. The food is surprisingly good for what you would probably consider "bar food." Honestly haven't had a bad thing here. The wings are awesome. It is a smaller place so it can be kind of tough to find seats/get a beer at times but overall a good experience. If you are looking for a low-key place to drink some good beer and eat good food this is a great spot.

Favorite bar in Village and NYC

By ModdyinVermont |

Whenever I visit NYC I must spend a few hours in the Blind Tiger. The crowd is friendly and varied. Always someone interesting to talk to. Usually 3 bartenders on duty. 28+ beers on tap. Great people watching, and they enjoy watching you. Do remember to bring cookies for the tenderbars.

Excellent ale house in Greenwich village

By morgs1984 |

Visited on our last night in new York after a meal, intended to stay for just the one, ended up staying until 2am! Great bar, excellent selection of beers - worked my way through several. Service was good, didn't try any food but menu looked good.

Popped in for a beer

By Trudy R |

And stayed a few hours Great atmosphere lovely couple of girls who gave us recommendation for Magnolias cake shop Loads of diff beers we had a few and the nachos were really good very fresh Wings were nice too Pleasant happy afternoon spent there without planning Would def recommends it

Great Find!

By travelbug7500 |

We stopped in here for drinks before dinner as it was on the way, and Zagat ranked it as one of the best beer specialists in NYC. They were right! Great selection of 30+ microbrew beers on draught; something for everyone! The place was full and bustling at 5pm on a Sunday, but we managed to finagle seats at the bar. The bartenders and patrons were friendly and the place had a festive, unpretentious, cozy neighborhood vibe (with a roaring fire going). This is definitely a prime spot for beer enthusiasts!

Beer variety in classic setting

By Harvey R |

Blind Tiger is know as one of the best beer bars in Manhattan. In Greenwich Village it offers over 40 taps. If you like IPA's, Belgians, Pils, and even a Scottish ale. Prices were not inflated given the beer choice and quality. Not too crowded our night and the fire place was a nice touch.

Very good craft beer bar

By GLASGOWTRAVELLER_8 |

We popped in yesterday for a couple of beers. They had a great selection of beers in many styles from Ipa to Stouts etc. The food looked good but we just had beer. Friendly staff too. 30 taps to choose from makes this place ideal if you love beer like we do and it's in a cool area. Recommended

best craft bar from the west side

By Gilberto K |

This is probably one of the best bars at the craft beer scene from the west village/meatpacking district. This was my second time there and I was lucky as the bar wasn’t crowded, as it is usually. The draft selection is amazing and the bartender was nice and gave me all the requested explanations. I even had a few tastes. Nice place to hang around with friends or even by your own. Good music.

Great beer and atmosphere

By masagero |

Visited on a recent trip. Has an amazing range of beers, friendly relaxed services and a great vibe. We managed to get a window seat so could while away the hours trying different ales and watching the world go by on Bleeker St. Great place to hangout.

Awesome craft beer bar with good food

By TC GREN |

Pretty basic venue but they have a great selection of specialty and craft beers of all type - they have a rotating menu of 36-40 beers daily from across the world: ale, pilsner, stout, lager, sour mash, Weiss and other types, as well as cider. Alcohol content from 3.2% to 14%! Food options good too, especially the sliders. Service is sometimes difficult to get because of patrons around the bar. Be patient! In the summer/spring when the windows are open, it's a nice place. Or sit by the fireplace on a cold winter's day!

Great beer on Tap selection!!

By danielle F |

I have been here a couple of times- the first time was to drink only. They have a great selection of beer and wine and will let you sample before you commit. The second time I came I had some food at the bar- Mussels and a olive plate- both very good!! It is a small space and fills up quickly!

The only good ale house in Manhattan

By Brett B |

This place is busy, very very busy. Not a lot of seating and no seats with backs. On the other hand, if you want a good, well cared for, craft ale, on Manhattan, where else can you go? This is the place. Amazing tap list (28 and all full of true craft beers). Friendly staff. Did I mention it is crowded? There is a reason why!

Brilliant old pub with atmosphere.

By Cloud5 |

Loved the Blind Tiger. We came across it by chance and we stayed for a couple of hours chatting to locals and the lovely lady behind the bar. Fantastic selection of beers (28 in total). Atmosphere is really nice. We returned the following week and we were welcomed back. This is definitely a lovely pub to visit if you are in this area. Returning to New York at Christmas and we will visit again. Brilliant service from the staff.

Lovely pub to stop and have great beer

By Noel F |

Staff is really friendly, big selection of beer - about 30 kinds on tap, also wine and proseco and good food, enjoyed it a lot.

Craft Beer Lovers - GO!!

By BeerVenturer |

Just went for a couple of quick beers. It was "Peekskill Brewing tap takeover". I told the woman at the bar I was an "IPA guy" and she said I'd like the "American Standard" and she said if I did I'd love the "Double Standard" - so I just ordered both at the same time - she was right! It's great having a bartender that can read your mind! Be aware - since it's a cool place - it's pretty crowded...

Beer Drinker's Paradise

By HVRW |

I have been visiting the Blind Tiger Ale House since the days when it was located on Hudson Street many years ago. During my most recent visit to the current location on Bleecker Street, there were 28 craft beers on tap, with 19 of them from excellent micro-breweries in the Northeast, as well as several quality brews from California, Maryland, Michigan, and Missouri. There are also about 50 different bottled beers with an international tilt. The beer is posted by number on large blackboards with the place of origin, alcohol content, price, and glass size. Order by the beer by number. The wine selection covers the basics. The Blind Tiger does not sell hard liquor. Like the beer menu, the food menu is written on blackboards. The food style is modern pub, at the lighter end of the spectrum. The food is quite good given the small kitchen and pairs well with many of the beers. The food prices are very inexpensive for this trendy area in the West Village, with everything on the menu priced at $15 of less, except for the Charcuterie & Cheese Plate ($17/$25); and indeed, all but one of the "small plates" are in the $3 to $7 range. The bartenders are polite, if not friendly, even when the place is packed (which is most of the time), and they seem to treat regulars and first time visitors the same high level of service. The place is small with limited seating and a low turnover, particular near the working fireplace. But I would rather stand at the Blind Tiger than not be there at all, because the place really is a beer drinker's paradise.

Unicorn Vomit!

By XcountryScholar |

Let me explain. Not too many (positive) reviews have a title that includes the word 'vomit'. But this is no ordinary establishment--- it is a character pub with over two dozen craft beers on tap. 'Unicorn Vomit' was the most alcoholic of these options, an imperial IPA coming in near 12%-- and yet deceptive in that it was so quaffable. I had invited an old friend, and we were mostly there for conversation; we had been pacing ourselves over several hours, and we sampled the cheese and meat board, which complemented the beer well--particularly the aged gouda. But when we ordered small glasses of the Unicorn Vomit, we were overjoyed with the smooth, slightly tropical-tasting drink: a tremendous way to end the evening. The clientele was convivial, and the 'tenders were quick and helpful. A very happy bar!

Not great service

By CR111 |

The level of service and beer knowledge was disappointing. The food was ok, not great, but not bad. A big part of the experience of visiting a craft beer bar is being able to talk about the beer with the staff. The staff at Blind Tiger may has well have been selling Bud Lite for all they appeared to care about the products they were selling.

FYI that excludes a tip

By manual p |

Went here one afternoon for a beer. Found a table and went to the bar to order a beer and a coke since they didn't seem to do table service. It came to $11. The bartender said "That's $11, FYI that excludes a tip". Now don't get me wrong I don't mind leaving tips and I did in every place I visited in the USA. I just found it extremely cheeky that the bar tender would so blatantly outright ask for a tip like this. I gave her a $2 tip and didn't stay for another drink.

Great Craft Beer Bar

By JoeTD |

One of the best in the Village. Can get extremely crowded and loud. Has an amazing list of both drafts and bottles, and an occasional cask ale (beer engine). In spite of the crowd, the service was good and recommendations were spot on. Will be back.

Nice pub

By Scott B |

I stopped by to sample the beer and enjoyed this pub. They have a good selection of craft beer in bottle and on tap. If you are in the area I suggest you give this place a go.

Brilliant brews

By capsicum0620 |

A great selection of very tasty local beers with an interesting selection of food items to accompany them. The pub is quite small and fills up very quickly. Excellent music, too!!!

Fabulous beer

By 39PaulB39 |

Fantastic craft ale bar in the heart of Greenwich village! Very knowledgable staff, just tell them what you like and they will choose for you from the very extensive list! Grab a table by the open windows in the summer months.

Top Beer Selection with Really Tasty Food.

By food-guru-107 |

For years I have heard of how great this place is by my hubby. Finally... I got to experience it last December. Their beer selection is unbeatable, and although the atmosphere is of a typical bar e.g. crowded, limited sitting, and laud at times, I really enjoyed the beer and soup/sandwich combination I had. Service was great, and we highly recommend the Kale Salad. It is ideal for people watching.

A Tigering Crusaded

By food-guru-107 |

Hubby was on a Blind Tiger crusade this NYC visit. If he had a choice, he would live, breath, and eat, every-day...all-day at this locale.

Did not live up to the hype

By CricketMcgill |

I read reviews about this ale house and thought it would be a great place to grab a pint of local brew, but once we read the beer list, we were disappointed with the selection mostly from other states. The ambiance is rustic with a gas fireplace, there are a few tables and stools. I do not plan to return visit.

Great beer, good food

By Heidbummer |

This place can get rammed really easy. My advice: if you're on holiday go for a post lunch lazy afternoon of relaxed beers and a few sides from the menu. When it's minus 10C outside, order another IPA and forget about the weather. We rewarded ourselves for a long morning of galleries and walking with an afternoon of touring some of the USA's good beers. The deep fried cauliflower bites are awesome. We love the blind tiger. But less so at night when you can't hear yourself think or get near the bar. Afternoon drinking is the way forward....

Always Amazing Taps

By Scott C |

Of the various bars in Manhattan that cater to craft beer drinkers, the blind Tiger is easily one of the top five. Having everything from Belgian lambics to a heavy focus on New York style IPAs, there are beers you can get here that you can get nowhere else and that’s a very very good thing. As you would expect, the staff was incredibly knowledgeable and is very quick to offer suggestions and samples. Also check out their bottle list, where they offer large format and vintage bottles as well.

Great beer list , great food and great staff

By Bernoise |

Tables with low stools and high stools , real flame fire , always a great atmosphere . Extensive craft beer list 25 plus casks . Food list is tasty and unusual making everyday meals special . Mac n cheese , cheese and meat plate , meatball sandwiches all excellent and interesting and Great with beers .

Good Tap Selection

By Tom L |

This is a perfectly serviceable bar to pop into for a couple beers. Their tap selection is vast. Surroundings are fairly basic. The crowd tends to veer towards the younger side. Service from the bar was quick. Lots of space for either sitting or standing. Basically nothing wrong, just a fairly typical pub.

Great range of beers including those outside USA

By Stefan B |

I've visited NYC many times for business and pleasure and every trip I head back here for a few hours. Wide selection of beers and matching food. Not a restaurant but does try to be. Recommended for a beer or few.

One of NYC's best beer places, plus the food...

By steven m |

I spend a considerable amount of hard-earned cash here to enjoy the constantly-rotating selection of drafts. There's usually a handful of truly obscure beers, plus the rest of the selection always features an excellent array of types ranging from ale to stout to everything else. Occasional cask offerings are extremely rare. Special events here (like tap takeovers) are great. Secret insider tip: go early for brunch on Saturday or Sunday when the place is literally empty. Great food, plus you can chatter with the regulars about all the zillions of beers they've consumed!

great beer

By Amanda C |

perfect place. we were able to grab a seat at the bar, and I got a really tasty saison. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in the area! price was reasonable too.

Stupendously Superb

By CJBGLO |

My two NY native cousins took me to BTAH , promising hoppy goodness. I enjoyed the first # so much, the atmosphere, catching up with family that I gaily skipped out. Leaving my tab open. Adam, the barkeep, could not have been more friendly and honest. Which is how I’d suggest any beer lover would read the menu here, an ever evolving mix of brews from near and far, laid out from #1 - infinity. Cheers on showing how great an Ale House can be!

Neat brewery

By Grover R |

The group I visited New York with included a guy who owns and runs a brewery in Pensacola. This was within walking distance of our restaurant as he really wanted to visit. Like our hotel, it was much younger and hipper than me, but I enjoyed my time and the beer. I am not a big beer guy but all I heard about is that no place and more uniquely brewed beers from around the country than this place. It was crowded but during our first beer we found some seats. Again I enjoyed my time here.

Good beer, fun atmosphere

By Bruce C |

What else can i say other than the place is always crowded, but for good reason. This is no secret to those that want a good craft beer selection, good atmosphere, and good prices. What else can i say?

Amazing Stout

By Vaughan W |

Met a friend who lives in NYC here one evening as he says it is the best pub in NYC....and he wasn't wrong! Yes, it was crowded but that helps give it the atmosphere it has; the bar was well tended so service was quick and friendly. The choice of ales is impressive and the stout was so chocolatey and yummy that it went down really well, pint after pint! Would definitely come back!

Great range of draft beers

By David Campbell |

Bleeker Street is great. Area outside main tourist area including Soho etc is wonderful to walk around. Food is better and much cheaper than around Times Square. Go for a walk and call in at this bar - service was excellent and the beer fantastic. Eat there (food looked good) or nip across the road to John's for a great pizza).

Small and Dark

By hoopmom9420 |

We wandered in here after seeing good reviews on Yelp and Trip Advisor. What a little small and dismal place. We sat at the bar and the gal that was almost rude to us. She was very short with us and wasn't happy that I ordered a water. My husband ended up having two beers, and he enjoyed them, but there really is not much good I can say about this place. I would have walked out, but my husband and I really needed to sit for a minute and he wanted to have a beer. There is hardly anywhere to sit, so if you don't mind disdainful service with nowhere to sit please go to Blind Tiger Ale House.

Great kale salad& amazing selection of Beer

By toham77 |

This is a fun spot with surprisingly good food. Amazing selection of beers. I tried the kale salad and I have to say it's the best I've had thus far in NYC. Full of flavor not overly heavy with dressing. Next time I will get grilled chicken on top. I had an order of their wings but was not impressed. Seemed as if they baked them and I was hoping for more of the "crunch" from a quick fry. All in all a great spot that you must try if in WV near Bleecker street

Pleasant lunch and ale

By Peter-the-Egg |

Our first lunch in New York in this pub was memorable. We tried 4 types of beers and though our palate did not fully appreciate some of them the food and service was wonderful and we enjoyed our lunch tremendously. Highly recommend.

Craft Beer Lovers Hideout

By waterproofpanda |

Hidden lil gem get crowded early. By 6pm, every seat is full in house. Dim-lit hole, maybe 55 seats, warm and old school. You get the distinct impression that your not paying for atmosphere. The drinks: they offer about 26 craft beers of the highest quality and rarity. Liquors offered too. Most beers are $7, but few are more. My #17 Brooklyn Sorachi Ace Saison was fantastic! Service: Service here is handled fairly adequately but as an antiquated establishment, closing your tab when it's busy take longer than necessary, drinks are a bit slower, food service is a bit slower; it's an inefficient process at best. I'd go back, and I'd recommend it to friends, but I'd still seek to find the place where the beer is as delicious as bacon, the men's room accommodates 2 or more people, and service is fast...

West Village Craft Beer

By LMSunFun |

Great bar with a quaint atmosphere. Lots of quality craft brews to choose from. Luke, the bartender, was very personable and helpful.

So Many Beers, So Little Time

By travelingobserver |

Great tavern atmosphere and huge selection of draft beers, including casked ales! Try them all! It was amazing that at 3:00 PM, it is like someone flipped a switch and the crowd swarms in. Table service retreats back behind the bar then. Great place for a mid-day beer (before three if you don't like crowds)!

Blind Tiger Ale House

By Richard P |

I always visit this gem of a place whenever I`m lucky enough to visit New York. . I`m not sure why this is listed under Restaurants because it is a pub/bar. The selection of beers is good with 28 on tap the last time I was there. This place never disappoints , highly recommended.

Great for lunch!!

By jansjourneys |

I went with adult son to adopt a new doggie for his Brooklyn pad and the agency was closed till 2 pm so son suggested this place (he's an artist and he did their menus!). He ordered us 2 craft beers and I ordered a quesadilla and he some wings and both were very good. It is a nice atmosphere and that day they were paving the street outside our window. It was fun watching them do that especially since we could not smell nor too loudly hear what they were doing. Lunch bill was about 50 w/o tip.......(Oh, son got a cute 4 year old Yorkie, named Ralphie. He's a delight!

Stop #2 in pub crawl. Beer only.

By dnamadkate |

Pretty cool little pub. Owner greeted us right away and found us a table for 6 though there were 8 of us. I liked that. Craft beer selection is huge. If you don't know what you want you may be disappointed by the recommendation. The taps were dominated by hops-on-steroids craft beers which sucks. Even wheat lagers were average in taste. Porters were very good. Price is little high for my liking but it's NYC. you just deal with it. We didn't have table staff on this Saturday so getting a beer can take some time. The really cool thing about this pub was it was 1 pm on Saturday and all windows were glass less and wide open. I left my beer on the table and stood outside and hung with my table just 6" inside the window. Friendly place, lots of beer and aged interior atmosphere are all pluses . It's a generous 4 rating.

Good beer and cozy place!

By Karine B |

I fell in love with that place the moment I entered! Small, cozy, I just felt great in there. Nice craft beer choice, excellent service, the staff knows their beers and they are great to recommend you something going with you taste!

Good craft beer

By Segaria226 |

This is a good beer house/pub right on Bleeker St in the heart of West Village. They had 28 different beers on tap when we were there including visiting ales from Chicago at the time. It was very busy but service was efficient.

A rainy afternoon in the village

By 1892Shearer |

We spent a fabulous few hours in this bar. The day we where there was a Sierra Nevada takeover and they had 16 of the 28 taps given over to therir beer. Good mix of regulars and tourists but a fabulous beer selection. Service was mixed, two very pleasant bar servers and one rude idiot who seemed more interested in bagging a free brewery t-shirt than serving patrons. Overall worth a beer pilgrimage.

Genuine Ale House In New York

By Filmog |

Paid 2 visits to this buzzing little pub in Greenwich Village. The first on a busy Saturday night; then a more laid back Sunday afternoon. 28 draft beers tells its own story-this is a proper Ale House. I tried a few, don't remember all of 'em, but that's another story. Service was brilliant on both occasions- hard working, friendly bar staff kept things moving and the beer flowing. Good food too- the Steakhouse Sandwich well recommended. If you like a good pub, with good beer, service and atmosphere, this might just be your place

A Must Stop NYC Visit.

By food-guru-107 |

If we lived in NY this would be our go to bar. Great beer selection and food. We had a couple of brews after a huge snow storm and sat by the toasty fireplace.

Excellent Beer Bar

By ItinerantNewYorker |

Blind Tiger is an easy choice. It's right in the center of the West Village, it's music and decor is inoffensive, and it has a beer selection appealing to anyone who might even consider drinking beer. I've been on a date, I've been with friends early in the night, and I think I went once late at night but don't remember. I had fun (or think I did) each time.

A few pints

By lucycan |

Stopped in with a friend for a few pints. They had perhaps 30+ on tap from all over. We tried a few, maybe more! Great service, small friendly place. Did not try the food.

Classic NYC Beer Bar

By Charles S |

Great west village standby for a excellent selection of top notch craft beers. Tasty snacks, too. No liquor. An awesome fireplace for when the weather's cold, wonderful farmhouse windows for when it's mild outside. Friendly, fun, mixed and typically youngish crowd. Great place for a session

Great choice of neers

By Vazbo |

My husband and I had a few drinks in here. Fantastic choice of craft beers and wines available. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices, genuine pub! We didn't have food but observed folks who had and that looked very good. Friendly staff who give recommendations and centrally located in the West Village.

A great moment

By AMystry20 |

We came in here after walking in the snow for a couple of hours. We were greeted by a warm fire place and a nice drink. We spent a couple of hours in this cosy bar and we even came another day for food. The food smells great/looks great but tastes pretty average. The beer was okay but the environment is excellent. The staff are relatively friendly and if you want to watch the snow outside with a drink in bar this is a perfect place to do that.

Great beer selection, awesome nachos

By Colin K |

This is a fantastic little pub with a great craft beer selection with everything from light lagers to double-IPAs... something for everyone. It's in a really cool setting and great location, and the staff are helpful and knowledgeable. We had the nachos, they're a great size for two people, and are really tasty. Would definitely recommend as one of the best places in Manhattan to get a great beer.

History is fun in NYC

By reretravels |

Found the Blind Tiger on here and had to visit. Great little spot in the Village with a big beer selection. We were a loud and large bunch and our server was patient with us and generous with the tastings. The menu was small but impressive and the food didn't disappoint...only problem was wings were ordered and person didnt specify flavor so server assumed they wanted hot- servers shouldn't assume. Well we are not wimps when it comes to wings but these were too hot to eat, second rush order of wings were more palatable.

Great Beer

By SYash |

This place has an enormous selection of draft beers and they rotate often so always an opportunity to try something new.

Loads of choice

Lots of craft beer on tap. Nice surroundings and friendly staff but it would be nice if they could manage to put in a few more tables. Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Decisions, decisions!

By Jehooper |

We spent a very happy few hours here on a rainy afternoon, having a late lunch and sampling a few of the many, many beers on tap! It's true that the bar has a loyal local clientele, all greeted by name by the bar staff, but this just shows that Blind Tiger is doing things right. We received good service from the friendly and knowledgable staff, despite obviously being tourists escaping the showers!

Noisy but that’s a New York atmospheric bar.

By mastermuzz |

Good beers. Great gratis cheese from Murrays on Bleaker. The place is always packed and loud however the atmosphere is second to none.

Excellent

By Andrew G |

Great beer. Great atmosphere. Great staff. That's all you really need to know and you should just go and seek it out.

THE Neighborhood World Beer Place

By Rolfe H |

Very large selection of beers - IPAs, stouts, lagers, sours - from all over the world. Not cheap - it's for the more sophisticated beer drinker. It can get really crowded and loud, but it's hospitable.

Noisy, Fun, Yummy Beer

Can't imagine what this place was like on St. Patrick's day, since the following day when we were there was hopping crazy. Try as many beers as you can... they're amazing.

Awesome Craft Beer Bar

By TheGreatCubeEscape |

On Bleeker St. was a craft beer bar that is known in NYC - the Blind Tiger. This is one of the first craft beer bars in NYC that first opened in 1995. We decided to stop in to see what it was about. It was about 5pm on a Thursday so we were getting in a little before the work rush, but all the tables were already full and it was standing room only. We ended up sitting at a table that was empty except for a beer, expecting the owner to come back from a smoke break. Their beer has 30 drafts and a few others on cask. The aesthetic of the bar was awesome. They had stripped the walls and ceiling away to its original self - old Click and drag to movewood from when the building had been originally built. A nice feature was that there were plenty of outlets to plug in our phones that were being sucked of life to find bike spots. For drinks we ended up going with : Ninkasi Brewing - Imperiale - an Imperial Stout - this was an amazing beer, quite strong, but could have had a few more. But this would have made us not been able to ride again. It was so good that Shelly ordered it after I did. Victory Brewing - Donnybrook Stout - an Irish Dry Stout - who can go wrong with an Irish stout? Troegs Brewing - Perpetual IPA on cask - an American IPA - dry hopped on cask made this not as hoppy as expected, but still very good. The food looked good too, but it was time to go. I am not a huge fan of going back to a place I have been, mainly because I like trying something new. I would go back to the Blind Tiger again because of the ambience, beer selection, and food. Such a great place. Very Friendly staff. Great beverages. We loved the fireplace even if it wasn't on. 2017

Excellent selection of rotating craft beers

By grump51 |

This is a great little place for beer. There are not a lot of tables and the place gets busy. Despite being crowded the service was very good. I was recently there on a Sunday afternoon and had a very relaxing and enjoyable time. The crowd ranged from young to old and there were as many women as men. Only one TV that is not very large so this is not the ideal place to watch sports.

Cozy little hole in the wall in the West Village.

By Doug R |

You go to Blind Tiger (BT) for the beer list. You wont be disappointed in their albiet brief menu at BT though, the food is delish, and worth the trip. I arrived via the #1 train, and a couple blocks walk. Worth the trip down from where I was staying on 63rd. Go to Blind Tiger if you have a love of craft beer.

Great craft beer choices

By TC GREN |

Enjoy going here each time I visit NYC. Cramped little spot, so it can be a little difficult to order when the bar is busy. There is usually a selection of 40+ craft beers from around the world, and all types of form and strength. Good to try several! Surprisingly, the food is great here too. Had the daily special quesadillas and they were mouth-watering.

Just ok

By Addie T |

The bartender was too busy trying to get the drinks across the line on a not so busy afternoon. Didn’t ask me what size beer I wanted, did not give me option to taste like other places ..... People are right about locals - if you aren’t a local I don’t believe the welcome is as friendly. The locals also don’t seem that friendly. Anyway ......this bar came recommended, glad I tried it out so I can wipe it off my repeat visit plan 😊

The best pub in Manhattan

By David G |

This is our favourite watering hole in New York. We make a point of going there on every visit to New York. Situated in the village it has all the characteristics of a good English pub plus about 50 craft beers on tap which constantly alternating with different beers. Great atmosphere and good pub grub.

Great range of ale

By Colin L |

A couple of pints here before crossing over to Johns pizzeria is perfect . The bar tender showed real knowledge of her beers and was happy to recommend . Well worth a visit

Last stop on the drunk train

By Wade Boggled |

Place was very fun and everyone seemed to be having a great time. Probably something to do with Santa Con. Definitely ask for the Wade Boggles, probably the best Wade Boggles this side of the Atlantic. Obviously the bar staff will act coy but keep repeating with the secret eyebrow raise and they’ll get the gist. Ey. I’m walking here. R.i.p. Wade Boggles.

Great spot for a relaxing drink

By danrmj |

We stopped in after dinner in the Village for a beer and to unwind. It was relaxing and comfortable with a NY feel to it. If you’re looking for glitz and glamor go somewhere else. But if you want a friendly place with a great beer list, check it out. Could be a good place to kill an hour while you’re waiting for a table somewhere else. I don’t think they have an extensive cocktail list either but if you’re ok with that, give it a shot.

Fantastic!!

By nathanemma1 |

Food was lovely and the drinks even better. Staff definitely know there stuff and were really helpful and friendly.

Great watering hole in a cool neighborhood

By Stempleman |

Love this part of town - great eateries and hike & the wall joints like the blind tiger...old world charm with cold beers and solid grub.

Decent beer list. Terrible service.

By Twinkletoes17 |

Finding a good beer list in NYC isn't the easiest thing to do, if you're big into craft beer. The Blind Tiger was rated highly by some other beer loving friends, so this was on our "must visit" list. We tried to enjoy it. In fact, we tried twice. Both times that we visited (in consecutive days), the place was packed and people were rude. There aren't very many places to sit, and people stole my seat more than once. People who I assume are "regulars" would take up 3 bar stools to hold them. Getting a beer at the bar isn't the easiest either, but at least the bar tenders were friendly enough. I couldn't drink my beer fast enough just to get out of there. Unfriendly atmosphere and the beer list wasn't that great to justify standing around in there. Do yourself a favor and go to The Ginger Man instead. They have a bigger list and nicer people.

Found this place after a Ranger Game

By Poppy0629 |

So happy we found this place. We came after a Ranger game. Crowd looked like regulars, but the bartender welcomed us right away! We had the wings - they were great. Stayed for couple of hours and enjoyed the fireplace and the many beers on tap. Nice place for conversation and a late night drink! We will be back!

A Great Pub That Deserves the Hype

By Joey613 |

This is a great pub in one of the most prime locations in NYC. Great beers to choose from and a nice vibe to go along with it. It's worth a drop in for a cold beer after a long morning/noon of walking around through the blistering heat of an NYC summer day.

Always our 1st stop

By EtherealDragonfly |

Absolutely amazing craft beer selection and a great variety of styles. Nice, relaxed atmosphere. Friendly bartenders who do an excellent job no matter who busy it gets. Love this place!

So Many Beers ..

By Jan_from_Atlanta |

Beers are on website where I saw Lawson's Sip of Sunshine IPA in a can. Rated 100 on Beer Advocate so got one on my visit. A fine beer indeed. Still a good beer bar on Bleecker in The Village.

Beers on Tap and great food!

By tejasdrmr |

In doing some research before our trip to NY we fond great reviews on the BTAH. Lots of beer on tap and the food was great. One client had the grilled cheese, I had the special of the day, grilled cheese with steak and tomato, another had pigs in a blanket. a few beers each, plus food $100 with Tip.

Craft beer in West Village

By MARC A |

Active craft beer bar in NYC west village with wide range of style. Crowded small space where you will most likely be standing. Fire place was a nice touch on a cold winter night. You will also have to jockey for position to get a beer. Fun place.

Sworn at by staff!

By BethieNoodles |

This review refers to when I went to this place on the 29 April 2016. I had gone to this place with mates to celebrate my partner's birthday. I acknowledge that my partner certainly had too much to drink and was sick. Therefore it was reasonable to ask him to leave the place. I had no issue with that. What I do have issue with is the manner in which they asked him to leave. The bartender was shouting, and swearing at him. It was completely uncalled for. We had every intention of leaving, however needed to gather coats, friends and get his bank card back. I saw the way she was screaming, so to try and defuse the situation, I told him to wait outside and I would get his bank card. When I got her attention and asked for the card, she started screaming and swearing at me. I might have accepted her doing it to my partner, as he was the one who had been sick. However I had done nothing wrong, we were trying to leave as she was (not very nicely) asking. However the fact that she was not giving back or telling us where the card was, was delaying our departure. EVENTUALLY she told me that she had already given it to another friend. However that was all she needed to have said in the first place, and we would have left straight away. The bouncers were even trying to tell her that my partner needed his bank card, and she wasn't listening to them either. The only positive thing about this place was the bouncers. They obviously also stated that my partner needed to leave, but did so politely. They seemed bewildered by the bartenders response. Once outside, my partner looked at the receipt and thought he had been charged too much, for what he paid for. In addition a few days later when he checked his account, he noticed that what they charged was $5 higher than what the receipt stated. Suggesting that they have added a tip to the payment. I thought that without the card payers permission that this was fraud. I did originally try and publish this review the night that this happened, however it was rejected by Trip Advisor, because I tried to quote exactly what the bartender had said to both my partner and I. Also I wrote reviews on other sites, one to which I got a message back from this bartender, telling me that I had a nerve to say that my partner had "just got sick". I had acknowledged in my review that he had been sick and they had the right to ask him to leave. I didn't realise I needed to go into all the glory details. She also said I was "hilarious", although she did add a swear word just before it. In addition she had claimed that my partner had been sick over other customers. I do not believe that, because if anyone had been thrown up on, either them or their friends would have been having a go at my partner. The whole time she was screaming and swearing, the customers just looked dumbfounded. Basically even when she responded to my criticism of her swearing, she swore. It is totally unprofessional and completely uncalled for. I don't care if I am in York or New York, I do not expect to be spoken to like that on a night out, especially by staff.

Nice neighborhood place

By jelmwood |

Stopped by for a beer on a Friday afternoon. Nice place, long and eclectic beer menu, quick service even in the crowd.

Best beer bar in the city

By Tyler L |

One of the most laid back bars with the most amazing craft beer selections of any bar. While not huge, we had no problem finding a table during a world cup game on a weekend. The beer menu is enormous and covers many craft breweries and beer styles. I've been on a Belgian kick and found 3 or 4 beers that were all incredible, though a bit strong. Good thing it was a very comfortable place to watch the whole game. The staff is well versed in the beer selection and offers good suggestions on what you might like based on similar beers. For rarer and less known beer, there is no where on the city to beat Blind Tiger.

Classic Craft Beer Bar with a great draft list

By HankScorpi0 |

The Craft Beer scene exploded in New York with Blind Tiger. It is a popular place, but yet you feel at home here. The draft list is excellent, and the staff are great. It will get packed, though, so try to show up during an off hour.

Tons of brew!

By Palmgirl33 |

Nice little hidden spot that was not to slammed to enjoy one of the many beers available. Great atmosphere and helpful servers.

Craft beer fans, go here.

By ImogenHP |

This place has a nice atmosphere, friendly staff and fantastic beer list. There was an Other Half Brewery tap-takeover there when we went, but that didn't restrict the choices at all. The bar staff were able to recommend one of the best sours I've had for a long time (Bruery's 'Sour in the Rye')! If you're visiting from the UK, a half will be smaller than you're used to, but don't let that put you off. The food was also good, with generous portions and a pretty extensive menu for a small bar. I'll definitely be visiting again when back in New York.

Excellent

By Mike A |

Excellent range of Craft beers with equally excellent service (Anne was our waitress; very friendly and helpful with great beer advice too). The food and atmosphere were superb as well. Really couldn't fault it. Surrounding area was lively and interesting as well. We'll definitely go back here next New York trip. Found it on a list of 10 best NY Bars and couldn't argue with that at all

Arguably the Best Beer in NYC

By Scott C |

I️ has the chance to visit Blind Tiger on a recent visit to NYC. I️ grabbed a reasonably priced Wedge salad with grilled chicken (excellent by the way) and was able to wash it down with a Grimm BA Double Negative. A pretty nice start, but then I️ found Cantillon Kriek on Tap. WHAT???? Yes please! Low key please with killer beers and great food. Double A+ for Blind Tiger.

dripping with NYC history, but not attitude

By ARIK K |

Re-live your frat boy days by drinking yourself blind at this authentic piece of New York realness. Eclectic crowd of NYU dorm types, middle age Silicone Alley millionaires, downtown creatives and further downtown Wall Streeters. Occasional west coast imports drop by for a quick Facebook selfie so they can brag to their plastic friends in LA that they can chill with the gritty, village hipsters & goth crowd. 30+ brews on tap, low key NYC atmo and a bar menu that cuts thru your buzz. Don't get too juiced, the Grilled 5 Cheese sandwich demands you focus.

Beer Lovers Assemble

By Ben |

A must visit for beer lovers while visiting New York. Great selection, lovely staff and good music. My wife and I didn't eat there but the food smelled great.

Best Ale House

By John N |

This establishment is arguably the best ale house on the East Coast. They have very frequent events (almost weekly), hosting a specific brewery or type of ale, such as their Christmas in July event, featuring a wide variety of Christmas ales. While their amount of taps is bested by some other places, Blind Tiger's event schedule provides an incredibly large selection of beers from around the country. The establishment is cozy and friendly. Their pub grub is very good. It is just a great place!

Great selection of beers

By SaintLeTiss |

Excellent range and choice of craft beers, we always come here when we are in NYC, in fact our first stop! The bar itself is quite big and has a lovely fire but can get very busy so if you want a table, get here early! The bar staff are very helpful and will talk through all the 50 PLUS beers they have, if you like beer, you must come.

The place gives a rather old '70s vibe and is a place where I can chat comfortably with my friends and have a drink

By charlesolmenj |

The place has a rather old 70s vibe and there were moderately tasty apparatuses where I would chat comfortably with my friends and have a drink, but it had an atmosphere reminiscent of old pubs in England, but the employees were friendly and had a fast working friend without waiting for another glass. I had a really nice and fun time with my friends. Footnote : The lighting is quite eye-watering, I suggest you change it

Awesome Selection

By BrewmeisterB |

Great selection of beer, but PACKED! Limited seating compared to the crowd size. Really nice bartenders though. We Did not eat here.

Very Friendly Neighbourhood Pub With Great Beer

By phikapboy |

My wife & I visited the Blind Tiger on Wed. Oct. 14 for lunch. We loved the "pub atmosphere" created by the decor, the bartender (Luke) and two very friendly, funny regular customers (Steve & Lennie). There was a huge variety of draft beers (supplied that particular day by The Other Half Brewery in Brooklyn). And the food was really good! We will definitely return on our next trip to NYC.

Great Selection

By del0430 |

This is a great bar that has an extensive selection of craft beers. The room has a fireplace that burns throughout the day. You can literally hang out all day, but unfortunately for an established bar, the kitchen needs to step up their game, and be more specific how they make their food. I had to leave the bar and walk across the street to have food because the two options that I picked from the menu were unexpectedly seasoned with curry. I enjoy curry WHEN I order it. I first ordered roasted cauliflower because the bar does not french fries (what bar doesn't serve french fries?). The cauliflower came in a small dish with cherry tomatoes and it was seasoned with curry. I ate it because I was on my second beer and needed something in my stomach. I do not recall the menu stating that the appetizer was seasoned with curry. I secondly ordered a hot turkey sandwich with coleslaw in the middle. My hot turkey sandwich was seasoned with curry. I did not eat it. I left half the sandwich and crossed the street to another business. Next time I visit, because the bar is in a great neighborhood, is eat before I start any libations.

A surprise

By ShuckersUk |

I was pleasantly surprised on first look I wasn't too impressed but I must say the beer was first class and the food equally as good. So do not be put off by first impressions, I'd certainly go back again.

Great spot

By orlytModi_in |

We had a really nice time at the blind tiger. Excellent beers, good chicken wings and a great atmosphere. You order at the bar, self service.

Great Craft Beer Bar

By imnotaballerina |

Everything top notch! Fantastic selection, great food, friendly staff. Highly recommend. Bar service, not table service as it's more of a bar than a restaurant.

Great tap selection

By Anna H |

What the Blind Tiger lacks in decor, it more than makes up in excellence. The draft selection was very interesting, with a good variety of brew types. The bottle list is also very extensive. The food looked decent, and the regulars were very fun to chat beer with. Probably the best craft beer bar in lower Manhattan.

Great beer selection for a summer alfresco people watching session

By OliwaVasicek |

Title says it all really. Big beer selection covering many types and countries, very friendly staff who are more than happy to help guide you through the maze (even when the pub itself is heaving with people queuing for their orders) and convenient tables outside for sipping on the good stuff in NY summer humidity while observing the hustle and bustle on the streets.

A west village staple

By BAJefferson |

The Blind Tiger is a reliable spot. Great bar for conversing with friends outside of the loud and fancier club scene. Consistently crowded, albeit with a typically younger crowd. Good beer selection -- not the best in New York, but a solid variety with a few staples. Food is average, but four stars for the good beer and consistency.

Elevated bar food and great beer selection

By Nicole G |

We chose this place because of their beer selection and we were not disappointed. The men in our group had a good time reading through the beer menu. I, myself, had a class of wine and they had a pretty good wine selection as well considering their main focus was beer. We also ate lunch and was pleasantly surprised by the options and also how delicious it was. We had empanadas and a steak sandwich, our friends had sandwich and soup. Everything was very good, "bar food" but really well done. Good place to grab a drink and a bite to eat. Cozy like a pub, but still very NY.

Great for a beer (or three)

By Dave F |

Awesome selection. Friendly staff. Great neighborhood. Try and avoid the gravity pour, unless you're into that.

Great Ale House

By handyspanner |

Came in for a few beers before dinner, great selection of some really fine ales that tasted very good too. The bar has a great vibe and some great entertainment is provided by the guy on the door!!

Beer Divas

By Chris D |

Popped in for a quick couples of beers at Blind Tiger & they have an impressive selection on tap. Focusing on American beers, the girls behind the bar were keen to share their knowledge of beers & breweries. Located in the West Village, with Windows that open onto the street. Cheers

My go-to NYC craft beer bar

By H0Tshoe |

Blind tiger was there before everyone else figured out that craft beer was religion. It's a cozy place, not much seating room. Read: not good for groups. The tap list always has new and interesting finds and is well balanced in terms of styles.

cozy little bar

By Turner S |

It’s a small bar with a roaring fireplace. Very cozy vibe. We first found it on a rainy Sunday and we were the only ones there. On our most recent visit, it was packed on a Saturday around noon. They have a good beer selection. The bar space is small but adds to the charm. It’s dark inside. Easy to lose track of time. The crowd included solo drinkers, families having brunch, and regulars playing chess. Great vibe, great bar.

Is this the best grilled cheese in the world?!

By ajh8368 |

This is a great place - I'm not a beer drinker but even I can tell the range is impressive! The Sauvignon Blanc (always my alternative tipple here) is lovely and always served at the perfect temperature. The bar staff are friendly and knowledgeable and there's a good range of food on offer though I never get beyond the grilled cheese as it's a really delicious, moorish treat. If you're after a fancy dining experience then this isn't the place for you as it's a dark wee place with wooden stools and tables but if you want unfussy tasty food and a good pint / glass of something to go with it in a friendly neighbourhood bar then I can't think of anywhere better to go.

Informal and fun

By Elin R |

Fun place to grab a beer or five. Impressive choice of beer. Friendly and fast service. Nice atmosphere. Will definitely be back.

Great chill spot for the beer lover!

By oxtox |

I knew I was in my kinda place when the bartender said "ask me whatever you want about the list, I've tried them all." 30 some nicely varied beer options on tap! The deviled eggs and hummus appetizers were delicious. A great break from walking around Washington square park. Friendly service. Will come back!

Friendly local pub

By dustythoughts |

We stopped here for a quick meal and were super pleased at our experience. Very welcoming staff, a friendly waitress, and delicious food. We shared the buffalo wings and the nachos; both were fresh and very, very good. This place seemed more popular with locals than with tourists, which we appreciated, as it made the restaurant less hectic and more intimate.

Awesome beer bar!

By dogtortravels |

My husband and I own a brewery and missed our connection out of JFK. This place made the delay worthwhile! Such a cool little place. Great service, great beer, good bar food. He had an amazing steak sandwich. I had a really good BLT. You won't regret your visit!

Visited Twice

By Brenda C |

We were wandering around the area and we walked in for a soft drink. The lady behind the bar was super friendly and was quick to top up our soft drinks. We said we would come back later as more walking to do. That evening after eating nearby we found this place again and enjoyed a couple of their beers. A good selection. The place was buzzing with a good atmosphere. Very nice place to enjoy a few bevvies.

Great Bar all round!

By Hayles_s |

We came here after reading other reviews and had to give it a try. The bar itself is small however the selection of ales it’s off the scale! I ordered the nachos and buffalo wings both delicious and reasonably priced. The location is perfect and could not fault the atmosphere! I would highly recommend visiting here!

It's all about the beer

By MaxDamage |

If you've read a few of my recent reviews already you've probably guessed I've been on a bit of a beer tour. I've been to some top class establishments but this place is at the very top. 28 beers and ciders on tap plus up to three on cask. They frequently push local breweries and seem to have weekly beer or brewery related events. The staff are knowledgeable and even the food seems to complement the beer. At this time of writing one of the best bars I've ever been to. I can give no higher praise.

Lunch

By paul d |

What a gem of a little boozer in NYC! I got to admit I was surprised by the choice of beer on offer in this pub. I was absolutely spoilt for choice, there was IPA, reds and darker ales, not exactly what I was expecting in an American bar. I had a few different beers, all excellent and a rare beef sandwich to go with them and that was absolutely brilliant too, on lovely crusty bread with a touch of horseradish. The staff were helpful and friendly and very patient when I couldn't decide what beer I wanted. It wasn't too full of customers when I was there during a Sunday lunchtime, but still had a few regulars around. I think any real ale buffs from England ( like me) would love this pub.

Happy Accident

By Susie P |

My husband and I stumbled upon this place last fall on a very hot afternoon. The beer selection is fantastic and the service was laid back and very friendly. It's the kind of place we love in Seattle and would be regulars if we lived in NY. A great place to sip beer and people watch. Looking forward to going back!

Caught a bad day?

By Jonathan H |

I'd been looking forward to a visit to the BT for months being a fan of UK real ale and the US craft scene, and heeding advice that it was packed in the evenings we visited about 3pm on a Friday. All the tables were full and there were a few people at the bar, but not absolutely rammed. We stood there in total for about 15 minutes, being regarded as aliens from another planet, and studiously ignored by what passed for bar staff. I asked one of them if I needed to order at the bar and was told yes in a way that made it obvious I could wait at the bar until kingdom come and wouldn't get served - reinforced by someone who came in a good 10 minutes after us and after some high fiving ordered his beer. I was terribly disappointed, clearly the crowd here conform to a particular type and ageing ex-punk rockers aren't wanted. They have a particular demographic age group which we didn't fit, I'd have thought being a craft beer enthusiast was enough but clearly not. I found it to be cliquey, elitist and unfriendly. Still, there are many more bars in New York.

I don't want to tell you about this place

By Sue N |

I don't want to miss out on a table so I almost don't want to write a review, but we love Blind Tiger too much not to encourage you to stop by. It gets crazy busy so aim for a weekday mid-day or earlier on Saturday/Sunday, especially if you want to sit inside (recommended). The beer list is consistently diverse and the staff is very helpful if you are on the fence about what you want. Get a seat by the windows if you choose to sit inside--the people watching is just the best. It works both in warm weather when they open the place up and in the winter when the fireplace gets going. The music selections are always fun to listen to as well.

Unexpected Find

By sccrref |

We were stumbling around the Village looking for a place to eat and came across Bind Tiger. As others have said great beer selection. need to get back to try more. Not many seats. We just beat the rush. Despite being busy service was prompt and friendly. We did eat. I had a French Dip w/ Bloody Mary Mix. cool idea. Our son had a burger and I dont remember what my wife had. Food very good but beer is the key. We had come to the Village to shop so this was a nice bonus

Good lunch

By Martin S |

Had a really good lunch here, great service. I recommend it. Lots of beer selections and good music.

Friendly Cool Busy Bar with Huge Beer Selection

By david e |

Also great bar food selections. Get in early and try and nab a table and spend the night rubbing shoulders with the west village locals and work your way through their 30 plus beer list. Excellent choice.

Beer at its best

By Tony N |

If you are in the area just drop in and have a beer. There were 30 odd to choose from and the staff were happy to give you a taste. Great place for a quick snack and brilliant beer without breaking the bank

Top notch!!

By rorylee |

Really enjoyed myself here. A solo British guy on a pub crawl....I ended up staying a few hours. Great recommendations from bar staff on ales to try and lovely clientele!

Yummy food!

We loved the 3-piece sliders and the grilled halloumi and quinoa salad. Nice choice of international beers, too.

Cozy and dynamic atmosphere with fireplace in the heart of NYC's Greenwich Village

By Amylille |

I recommend the Blind Tiger restaurant/pub located in the Greenwich Village neighborhood of New York. Cozy and warm atmosphere with fireplace and sports TV screens. Great for having a beer with friends or a snack.

An Old Favorite

By Josietravels |

I've lived in NYC for quite some time now and have been going to Blind Tiger on and off for years. I can remember when it was in its old location which I liked better but that's neither here nor there. The beer selection is great and varied. The bartenders are friendly. They have regular bar food, good but nothing out of the ordinary. Fair warning...this place gets packed which is why my visits are more irregular now. It's not their fault--the space is small and NYC rents are high.

oh wow, beer lovers heaven

By robv12 |

not much to say here, except BRILLIANT, wonderful beers, some to die for, a warm welcome, need to go back and SOON

Superb beer choice and good snacks menu

By ANDY K |

This is an absolute must for any beer drinker on a trip to New York. The beer choice is wide ranging and the quality superb. The staff are very helpful and there is a beer to suit every taste. We enjoyed the Mean old Tom Nitro Stout from NY at 6.5% ABV and the Beer Republic Imperial IPA at 7.5% If you fancy a pizza then walk across the road to Johns!

Excellent

By howardtredinnick |

Great vibe in a great area. Excellent range of boutique beers. Didn't have any food there so can't comment regarding that. Very popular so gets a bit crowded but good atmosphere.

Simple amazing place great food and beer

By courtney h |

This place is small but comfortable. Very nice staff. 28 beers on draught and delicious food. Definitely coming back if I come to nyc again.

Could not get in --wanted to do happy hour but the crowd was way too tight. We managed to have one "standing" drink but not very happy with the experience

Great selection for the beer geek

By johnfG9852PI |

I went here for beers before dinner because of the high ratings and it did not disappoint. Very comfortable space and seating. The food looked good (I did not try it). Most important was the awesome beer selection! Very varied and there is a pre 5pm 3 flight tasting special for $12 (July 2016). There are a couple "passthroughs" at bar and I sat near one so I got bumped in the back a bunch or times. Annoying but the place is definitely worth it.

Excellent tap selection

We try to always stop here for some beer tastings when we are in NYC. The tap selection never disappoints. So many beer styles are offered. Our bartender was Adam, who was knowledgeable, friendly, & attentive. The only drawback here is that it's always quite crowded.

Great beer selection and friendly locals.

Visited here on a cold January afternoon and spent a couple of hours sampling some of the wide range of craft ales from across the USA and further afield that are on tap here. The place isn't particularly obvious and we walked around a bit after leaving the subway station until we found it. Spent some time chatting with the locals and had a fair number of different beers. Also sampled the devilled eggs and loaded potato skins which were good for a snack. Got busier after work but still was an enjoyable couple of hours, well worth a visit.

Beware if you are not a local.

My wife and I love to go to local breweries and pubs when we travel to get the fill of the places we travel. We are usually treated very well and welcomed into grab a beer and give them our money. The staff(manager) here was more interested in having drink with the locals and I have never been treated so rudely anywhere in the world. On a positive note the beer selection was a very good.

Best little beer joint.

We always stop in when in New York. Great beer joint in the heart of the east village. Great tap list and friendly staff and locals. Never ate here but I am sure it is good.

What a hidden gem!

Stumbled across this place by accident after walking to the Friends building. Lots of beers on tap and great friendly service from all the staff. Would definitely recommend.

A good range of interesting beers in one of NYC’s hipster hubs

I popped in for a quick pint as i was hoping to get into john’s pizzaria opposite (no luck, huge queues!) and was impressed with the range of craft beers available. The bar has a real buzz to it which, when combined with the great drinks on offer, makes it a good place to include on a night out in the area.

Lots of craft beers!

Another great spot in NYC offering a wide selection of craft beers. Rotating taps so worthy of repeat visits.

Sunday Afternoon

Having read reviews and looking for a place on a Sunday afternoon to grab a real ale - this seemed like a great choice and it was, with a friendly feel and a ‘fire’ going (best fake one I’ve seen) it was lovely to warm up with a choice of fantastically titled tipples watching the sun sink - recommended although the loos are a little basic

Great Beer Selection and fun crowd

Blind Tiger is a very popular place, a mix of local regulars and visitors. Folks come for the beers - 30 drafts and a few cask conditioned. Very good bar menu. And very nice tenderbars.
