Amazing Breakfast

By geepmeyer |

This place exceeded the online reviews. Their Crunchy French Toast was amazing and my wife’s Eggs Benedict was too. Great location in midtown. Marlon was a great help.

Wonderful place for brunch

By UFPAGator |

Had a wonderful brunch this morning with friends. The outdoor seating was very nice and food was delicious. Make sure to bring your vaccine card and ID.

Yum!

By Susan T |

Delicious brunch, excellent service. The restaurant is very small, but the dining experience was great even in such tight quarters.

A gem of a restaurant!

By Joan G |

Food was delicious and service was wonderful! We had dinner and drinks before going to the theater. The restaurant is small but the staff is so attentive, food was served hot, and was delicious!

Small but Delicious

By chillinfool |

My wife and I had reservations and dined here early on a Wednesday evening. I picked the place based mostly on the name and story since my wife and I are both dog lovers. We had a bit of trouble finding it since there was no signage on W. 50th that we saw and you enter it down a breezeway. As others have said, it is actually the smallest restaurant we have ever dined at. The service started out slow, and picked up once we ordered with several waitstaff and manager checking on us. The food is imaginative and good. My wife had the Asian salad and I had the country chicken, both were very good. Dessert we shared the lemon cake, also very good. When I made the reservations it mentioned the one hour "time limit," and we were under that. Hopefully the restaurant will get enough acclaim and following that they'll eventually have to move to a bigger location.

NYC breakfast

By Karen6367 |

What a wonderful find via trip advisor. This is a little gem, loved everything about it, the staff were lovely, quirky little layout and loved the old black and white silent movies being projected onto the wall. Most of all loved the food and that tea came in a blue dog mug 😊☕☕

The food was OK but I was expecting a bit more in terms of taste.

By Tisha Adeleke |

The service was good but the food was average. Breakfast sandwich with side and drink was $40. I know it’s NYC but you still want good food for the money. Our waiter was nice.

No Regrets

By Bluejayye |

Overnight trip from Pennsylvania to NY to see a show (wife’s Christmas gift). My wife and I decided on the Blue Dog Cookhouse for our pre Hamilton show meal. Glad we did. We were seated early so no crowds to contend with. Staff were very attentive. We ordered wine and a beer and had the Cob Salad and Cheesus Christ burger. Both were excellent and in nice sized portions. We highly recommend the Blue Dog and will definitely eat there again when we return

Culinary Highlight of Our Trip!

By Rebecca B. |

We booked the Blue Dog for dinner as it is right around the corner from New World Stages where we were attending a play. It is a very intimate setting with limited seating so glad we reserved through Open Table. While we did have a reserved table, we decided to sit at the bar - great decision! George was our bartender, and his customer service was amazing! He made us feel as if we were a guest in his home for dinner. He, other servers, and the manager were very attentive to all of the guests, and there was not a face without a smile. Everyone seemed to really be enjoying serving customers and were vested in the customer service experience. Will definitely go back in the future!

Surprising

By NG0409 |

We entered there around 10 p.m. out of spite because in this city after 9 p.m. there is nothing else, they no longer serve you (except in fast food). Welcomed by very smiling young Latinos. A little dark place for our taste but beautiful decoration and above all simply exquisite cuisine: octopus to die for and exquisite salmon.

Odd seating but good food

By lhaganmich |

Reserved a table and was surprised to be placed at a very awkward high top near the door. Requested to be moved. Long wait for the waiter to come by and food and drinks to be delivered, however, food was very good hence the 4 star review. I ordered 2 seasonal drinks - ok, not as great as they could have been.

Yum!!!

By MamaGibbs |

Loved the menu! Loved the speakeasy vibe! Staff was great! The restaurant is pretty small so I could see it being packed!! We will definitely come back next time we are in NYC!

Overpriced

By titch1212 |

Lovely atmosphere but overpriced average food. Caught staff sniggering at guests. Won’t be returning

My Favorite Pre-Show Cocktail Spot

By Laura F |

I've been here twice now and I'll definitely be back! Blue Dog is tucked away by New World Stages, but it is always packed with people. The tables are small, but feed into the cozy feel of the place. The burger with brie is absolutely delicious, though the cocktails (especially the Glen Coco) are not to be missed!

Don’t bother

By Willblood |

No free refills on ice tea!!! This is the United States of America. They don’t tell you until you ask for a refill. I mean I knew the profit margin for restaurants was thin but if a glass of tea is going to put you into bankruptcy you deserve to be bankrupt. Never eating here again, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED, eat at your own risk.

VERY tight space, food was ok

By Northern_Traveler00 |

Prices are good at the Blue Dog, surprisingly so for midtown, but the space is odd, and it's quite cramped. Most seats are at a communal table. We had a party of 5 and shared 2 small 2 tops, better suited for 4 people. Had to constantly shift plates around to have room. Started with the Deviled eggs. The toppings were great, but the eggs did not seem at all deviled, just hardboiled eggs sliced in half. Burgers were fair, Salmon Nicoise Salmon and the steak salad were better. My burger with mozzarella cheese had very little flavor. The veggie burger wasn't much better, nor was the other burger at the table. Be careful if you are seated at the tables against the window near the bar! The bench is fine, but the back of the seats is a long piece of wood which sticks out and catches your lower back painfully, and if you sit down without care, you will crack your coccyx upon it.

Another hidden gem

By Jueho |

Another hidden gem which we actually at first thought was closed due to how you enter the place. A closed curtain stops you from seeing the cosy interior. Lovely staff, a gorgeous first breakfast in NYC. Kept us going all day. A big thumbs up

Love it, love it, love it

By mum5EastAnglia |

We loved it here. It’s small and has a lovely intimate feel. The food is good and the cocktails are amazing. The staff are friendly and efficient. Great value too.

Top dollar Breakfast! $$$$

By haGGis71 |

Yes .. it was expensive .. $199 for breakfast for 2 adults and 3 children.. but it was worth it. A warm welcome, excellent quality food and fantastic service ..

Excellent food and quirky spot!!

By Misstalkative1 |

We visited here for breakfast and it was delightful! Great atmosphere, quirky aesthetic and very friendly staff! The food was delicious, and they do unique freshly made juices and smoothies! Well worth the visit!

A disappointing meal

By Alex M |

A tiny space which is not very comfortable. Fortunately we ate early but it was very noisy with kids running about. Taken to our table and given the menu and cocktail list. Orders made we shared the calamari appetiser which was fine. My wife ordered one of the burgers which was distinctly average and I had the mussels with chorizo. Unfortunately the mussels were bone dry with little liquid in the bowl. They were also over cooked and the chorizo obviously added just before serving - so it was dry also. Not quite sure what the bread served with it was meant for as there was no moisture to soak up. A disappointment as this was our last dinner in NYC before flying home.

Elena is the best!

By Zoe J |

Elena at the front desk is the best! She is kind and goes above and beyond to deliver excellent customer service. I recommend this restaurant for breakfast if you are in the area.

A stressful place to dine

By SirFabulous |

All in all the place has potential, although a very small restaurant. The interior was lovely and the menu looked great. Where this place looses stars is the time-limit and customer service. We were given 90 minutes to dine and our waiter seemed very impatient with us. We ordered the same dishes as the guests next to us, right after them, and they had gotten and finished their food before we even got ours. The food was mediocre, but not bad. We were also given the bill and the staff cleared our table before we were even finished eating. All in all a bit of a stressful experience for dinner. The cocktails were good though, so maybe they should aim for cocktails only.

Top quality food

By Martin A |

Great food from top quality ingredients and beautifully cooked. All the egg dishes in particular were brilliantly cooked. The atmosphere is great in this small and stylish joint. Be aware that your sitting is for 75 mins and you may share a table during busy times.

Fabulous food!

By C Gita B |

The food and service were great. We choose outdoor seating and really enjoyed it, although it was a little cool (late October) as would be expected. The seared branzino and braised short ribs were excellent.

Dinner

By Wandering_Freee |

Very small resturant. You most likely will be seated at a table with strangers. There is a bathroom one Toliet for the entire resturant. The bar has no tap beers, everything is bottled. The food was very good but there are so many restaurants in NYC that you can enjoy more.

Great quick dinner at bar

By Jeanne P |

Great quick dinner at bar before theatre. Bartender was friendly and quick. No problem with our keto modifications to our order. Yummy burgers and my martini even had ice on the pond.

Great Bruncj

By ShakkalakkaBoomBoom |

Great brunch in a lovely small environment. Good excellent and good service. Only slight issue they have one large table that sits 20+ and we were sat on that so very enclosed to other people. They do have other tables but the large table is the main feature. That said we would return.

Amazing!

By Carrie T |

So yummy! I had the crunchy French toast and my husband had the huevos con chorizo. Amazing! This place is super small so get there early! We arrived at 8:30 Sunday morning. We were the 4th table seated. We were told we had an hour time limit. When we left an hour later there was a line outside to get in.

2nd visit and as good as the 1st

By Loracmom2boys |

Found the Blue Dog on Trip Advisor for Sunday Brunch last July. We had a wonderful breakfast. I was in NYC this weekend and needed a quick bite for dinner. I was by myself this time and just walked in and got the last seat at the bar. I had a cocktail and salad with Salmon. Dinner was delicious. Staff was accommodating and friendly. It is a small spot so there may be a wait. Definitely worth the visit.

Loved it!

By Louis M |

Loved the set up as we arrived, small but on top of each other. Great Menu, decent service. No wifi but not an issue! Needed for tourists as you needed it for the menu. Food was superb! Went 2 times in 5 days, says a lot!!

RUINED ANNIVERSARY MEAL

By Travelhan |

We had a reservation for 7:45 we showed up and was told we couldnt have a table! Could only sit at the bar for our anniversary meal! What a joke! What is the point of having a booking system if the restaurant cant honour your bookings! Didnt help the man checking the bookings was rude and stuck up! Very unhelpful and couldn’t care less about turning reservations away! CLEARLY YOU CANT DO YOU JOB MANAGING TABLES as your sending away people who have booked because you have filled their slots due to your poor hospitality management skills WELLDONE! We then spent the next hour trawling round times square with no reservation trying to find something! Thankyou for ruining our anniversary evening! AVOID THIS PLACE unless you want stuck up staff and to be told you reservation mean nothing!

Exceptional service, good food

By Florida |

Very neat find! Our waiter was extremely friendly and willing to please in any way possible. Food was delicious. The inside has an extremely neat and cozy vibe, which I would request next time. We sat outside which was nice, but it is under an overhang below a building and lacks atmosphere.

Delicious Brunch

By Candy F |

Stopped here on our last morning in NYC and wish we had stopped here on day one. We were seated immediately on a Friday morning about 9:30, but there were people waiting when we left. There is a large, covered outdoor area that was empty on this chilly October morning and seating inside is limited. We had the Goat Cheese Quesadilla and the BLTE. Both were large portions and we could have shared. Brian our server at the bar was great. This restaurant will be on my list the next time I visit NYC.

A cosy dinner

By Assunta B |

Nice place with a quiet, cosy and vintage ambience. Staff is very kind and helpful. Food is good. We had hamburgers and they were tasty

Nice place for a drink!

By theproclaimers |

Stopped here for a couple of cheeky drinks before we went for a meal in midtown. Laid back, trendy place where the food looked tasty too!

Cozy for Brunch

By foodmonswar |

Met friends in from Florida for brunch. The Bloody Marys were served with a cracked red pepper/salt rim. Nice touch. Huevos Rancheros, Traditional eggs Benedict were prepared very nicely. Croque Monsieur was amazing. Definitely will be back.

"The Blue Dog" for breakfast

By Thomas T |

Breakfast was excellent and healty, Service was excellent thanks to Petar. We ate inside the restaurant but there is also courtyard seating.

Should have passed

By KSMOMM |

Strange and uncomfortable place. The majority of seating is in a covered outdoor mall/walkway area. Inside seating is extremely limited and includes one long family style table and maybe around 4 table for 2s. All of which was entirely too close for COVID comfort for our taste. Sitting at a family style table across from complete strangers is definitely not a comfortable situation. We had reservations as we were hoping for a nice steak dinner during our trip. The hostess was not very warm. She had to put down her book and end her conversation with a coworker before she asked if we had reservations. Then it was all business even when we tried to make small talk and be pleasant. Our waiter was nice and efficient. We do t understand lukewarm water but that’s all we’ve gotten anywhere in NYC. After a busy day in a heat wave a few ice cubes or at least cold water would have been wonderful. We did enjoy the spinach artichoke dip. We also had a burger, the short ribs, and the steak. Burger was average. Short ribs were pretty fatty but had good flavor. The steak was average. You pay at the table with the waiter holding a tablet and watching while you enter the tip amount which made us uncomfortable. All and all, it’s not that it’s bad food but the atmosphere does not make it an enjoyable place to dine. And when it you are a tourist there are some places that make you feel like you are annoying them by simply being there. That’s how we felt….and when it comes to our vacation dollars that we have earned, we will save them for places who appreciate the business in the future.

Fantastic brunch

By Maria P |

I was visiting New York City with my family and we found this great spot for brunch. The food on the menu was unique. The inside of the restaurant was beautifully decorated. Make a reservation because it is not big. But I can say that there was not one bad thing that we ordered from the menu. We had 7 people and we tried 7 different items.. I have never seen French toast so big. The eggs Benedict was perfect.. There was a little twist on each item that made it different from other restaurants. I highly recommend this spot and will definitely be returning there again.

Fantastic Birthday Dinner at Gem of a Restaurant

By Allyson G |

This restaurant was fantastic! A total gem. The menu is terrific and everyone loved what they ordered. Darvin, our server, was fantastic. He and Carlos made our evening so special. There is a wonderful and cozy ambiance, we can’t wait to go back!

Great service and cozy enviroment

By DJ-GalaWestlund |

We came here for brunch. The place was full and it took us 5min to get a place to sit. Super friendly people working here. Food and drinks were really tasty. My wife said the best cafe She has had in a long time.

Visited twice as we loved it so much!!

By Putock |

My wife and I went to New York to get married.. we located this little cook house on the first night and decided to try it with a reservation. We were not disappointed. we both had a beer, I had a grapefruit beer. I had the 'cheeses burger' with pepper jack cheese and my wife had a vegan burger. Wow, wow, wow... absolutely loved the food and the drink. The place in decorated with a vintage industrial look and feel, the staff are excellent and will do anything to ensure you enjoy your experience. Friends joined us in New York and we returned a second time on Saturday night - we had booked and were sat at the same table. It was very busy with locals, but we were well looked after with a round of complimentary cocktails due to our marriage. Cannot fault this place at all, it was amazing and we would go back every week if we lived in New York!! Thank you Blue Dog - you were awesome!!

Nothing special

By derbyking98 |

My wife and I had dinner here one night. She had a burger with butternut squash fries which she enjoyed. I have shrimp and lobster ravioli and a caesar salad which was somewhat bland with stale croutons. Setting was very cramped and service was okay. All in all a fine place but we probably won't return just because there are so many better options in the area.

Great food - good choice of healthier options.

By Estera S |

Came for breakfast - excellent food, great choice of vegetarian and healthy options. Coffee was good, staff friendly and efficient. Would definitely come back if in NYC again.

Very good

By Mario Sergio A |

Legal. Good music and good food options. Near the central Park is a cozy place, strongly indicate. I ate a strawberry salad, very good goat cheese

Enjoyed dinner so much, returned two days later for breakfast

By Silverysue |

Great atmosphere...attentive waiting personnel ....... food was really good, tasty, hot and imaginative. Will return next time I am in NY

Brunch most of the day

By Michael S |

Looking for brunch place and this hit the spot. Nice menu, smoothies delicious and food very good. Smaller place so will probably sit at table with other diners. Fair price for the area

Excellent find for brunch

By Mike B |

This was a great find fir brunch. We went on a Monday and it was very busy but they were able to fit us in. Definitely recommend a reservation. I had Huevos ranchero and my wife had Croque Madame. Both were excellent as were the bloody marys.

Dog Friendly

By Yolanda S |

Amazing 🤩 Dog Friendly covered outdoor seating. Amazing and friendly service. So sweet and happy to see the pup. The food was amazing- very fresh eggs and crispy breakfast potatoes. So glad we stopped here 🥰

Excellent experience again and again!

By silviedd |

Excellent service, yummy food, friendly atmosphere and the staff amazing a big shout out for Danijel, his friendly and professional way, always with a smile and a heart of gold! A great asset to “The Blue Dog “ team! Thank you Danijel <3

Best breakfast for a long time!

By Tonyw6 |

Came here as it looked good on trip advisor. Wasn’t disappointed. Service was excellent. The place is quite small and was V busy (10.30am Saturday). This didn’t affect the excellent service. We shared a long communal table (2 of us amongst groups of 2’s 3’s &4’s.). We found this added to the occasion. I had Croque Madame. It was excellent. My wife a BLTEE. She certainly enjoyed that. We both shared a portion of crispy french toast with flambe’ banana & maple syrup. That was worth the whole bill in itself. Refill coffees throughout. Top place. Guess what. We will be back in the morning!

Another great dining experience!

By NormLWat |

No surprise that we had a great dinner pre-show. Service was fast and efficient, food was fabulous. Short ribs were tender and horseradish mashed potatoes were delicious and full of flavour. Blue dog continues to deliver on great meals and reasonable prices. Brunch, late lunch and now dinner - all hit the mark.

Amazing food, best mocha I've ever had!

By JP |

Blue Dog is an absolute hidden gem, I would have walked straight past it if I hadnt been recommended it. The food is incredibly fresh, and the mocha is hands down the best I’ve ever had. The service is fantastic—friendly and efficient. The biggest issue is the cramped seating area with tables elbow-to-elbow. It has an interesting old school vibe, if you don’t mind a cozy setup, it’s a must-visit spot!

NOT FOR ME

By DMGPA |

Thought we would try a new place for breakfast in NYC. We never got a table so I can only review the service. Waited in line for 45 minutes for a table and was placed in the corner near the men's room with a table possibly 18 inches wide. That's not how I want to enjoy my breakfast . When they say close quarters that literally means you are elbow to elbow with the person next to you. I don't care how good the food is!!! The service and lack of reservations is a NO GO for me. It was so disorganized and chaotic, not for me.

SO good! Not cheap...but SOO good!

By skivrmt |

Probably the best breakfast my wife and I have had in NYC. Definitely make a reservation as it's very busy, and very small. Except to be very friendly with your neighbors. We were lucky as we got the high top near the side but almost all other tables, and one main family table, it's a tight fit. My wife ordered the Eggs Bene and I got the Crunch French Toast. The bread was super thick, crunchy, and was one of the best French toasts I've ever had. Eggs Bene was super solid as well. Server was great and friendly and very attentive. Highly recommended.

Over-rated. Overpriced. Don't go!

By KP |

I visited Blue Dog with my family the last day of our stay in NY. We made a reservation for 830 am. The interior was very warm and cozy. We were seated in a communal table which was OK because the place was not crowded. We ordered at 835 am and the breakfast came at 912 am. As previously said, the place was not that busy, therefore the service was extremely slow. I cannot imagine what happens when this place is full. We ordered two cappuccinos and an orange juice. We specifically asked for cinnamon and stevia. There was neither and we had to ask for both. Hard to believe there was no stevia or raw cane sugar in a place like this. Worse than anything: the coffee was not warm! It was terrible, clearly one of the worse coffees I had in a breakfast place... And when the breakfast arrived 30+ minutes later, the coffee was almost gone... We ordered 3 main dishes. The eggs Benedict were unevenly boiled; one well done and the other very watery! The omelet was very good but they forgot... the bacon (it was one of the requested add-ons)! We also had to ask for salt and pepper, The chocolate chip pancakes were excellent. But they did not bring us small plates so it was really challenging to share. Overall, for a place where you will pay $40 per person (we paid $115 with tip/taxes included), you would expect much better quality and service. Don't go there until they up their game!

Brunch was Fantastic!

By #babybear |

Stopped here for brunch after a quick online search - definitely understood why it's so popular! I had the croque monsier - absolutely delicious! Definitely compliments to the chef!! The staff were attentive and friendly. Our only upset is that we had to sit far opposite each other on a big shared table but we were grateful for a seat and it was very busy so it wasnt a problem. Definitely be back here again on our next visit ... would love to try them out for dinner & drinks too!!

good breakfast in time square surroundings

By Corrado M |

this place was a good surprise in time square surroundings where you usually find places for tourist with poor quality. food was really good (french toast and the eggs) as well as service. really close to subway. only negative point is that breakfast opening is a little bit late (9.30 am).

A Jewel in Hell's Kitchen

By Bret K |

Just moved into Hell's Kitchen this past Summer, and The Blue Dog is a wonderful find. I've eaten here several times now, and each time was a pure joy. The Eggs Benedict (which comes in avocado halfs) was delicious, as well as the Octopus dinner entree and Sliders appetizer. During the colder months they only have indoor dinning, so I totally understand the 90 min window. Well decorated, and the staff is very friendly.

Best veggie burger in the City

By tms215 |

We all know how hard it is to find a good veggie burger. Most are like hockey pucks but not here! They make them inhouse and they are amazing. Tiny place in a residential neighborhood with friendly service and a full bar. A very good brunch menu and set up for COVID. Not a destination restaurant but if you are going to the theater? Perfect place to start

GREAT FOOD!!

By MieMie4 |

The food here was amazing! Great portion size and service was very attentive and polite. Great atmosphere and we even sat at a communal and met some very interesting local people and visitors.

Outstanding- best food in NYC

By Oliver G |

Excellent food for brunch, quality and price both exceptional. Gutted I’ve only just heard about this place. Great service and decor is very cool as well.

Just ok

By Shari S |

Came here for pre theatre dinner with a friend. Burgers look great but avoid the fish. Bronzino was a bit 8over cooked but tasty. Portion was small. Friend ordered salmon with specific instructions that the middle be cooked. It wasn't. Took 25 minutes to get new dish. Meanwhile I was done way before her with my tiny portion of bronzino. And don't say give them a break everyone is understaffed. People who sat down after us got served and left before it came out.

Tight squeeze, Great food

By Mosaicerica |

Sat at the bar since the table we were offered was too small for three. Prepare to be cozy - there’s not a lot of wiggle room in here. However, everything else is spot on! Highly recommend the Oliver Twist pressed juice. I mean, when was the last time you were still thinking about how yummy a green juice was a week later? It really was that good. Brussel sprout appetizer are kept simple and done to perfection. Ask for some balsamic glaze on the side for dipping. Kale and butternut squash salad was good but needed salt and pepper as the dressing didn’t have much flavor. Can’t recall the name but the fried chicken thigh sandwich with bacon and cheese sauce was a big hit (and huge! Big enough for two) as were the fries. We had mentioned we were in the city celebrating a birthday and the bartender surprised us with a piece of chocolate cake and a candle. Very kind of him! Would definitely recommend and would happily go back again.

Move It On Over 'Cause the Blue Dog's Movin' In

By Richard |

Blue Dog is worth the money. Service was very attentive to their patrons; that's a big plus in my book. One of the few places where the burgers actually have flavor. Rare (no pun intended).

Try the Salad!

By Lisa T |

We went during the week initially for breakfast, but ended up ordering salads and we are so glad we did. They were amazing!

Good food; small space

By Sam MMH |

Took a minute to find the front door as it is tucked away in an interior spot (not directly on the street). The restaurant is very tiny and we were surprised to find out we would be seated at a communal table. BUT, the service is top notch and the food/drinks were delicious. Best meal out of the four of us was the lobster ravioli. However, everything was delicious and you can’t go wrong stopping by here.

Excellent Burgers

By C4roDL |

Found this restaurant by chance on an evening wander around Midtown. And what a lucky find! Arrived shortly before 8:00pm - after the theatregoers had left. The restaurant was quiet, the staff were attentive and friendly, the menu was varied and the quality of the burgers was excellent.

Must try

By christigray1 |

Cute cozy place near Broadway! Gnocchi was phenomenal. Easy walk to Broadway show! Drinks were delicious! Will try again!

Disappointing

By Virginia Reynolds |

I was excited to try Blue Dog after reading many favorable reviews. My daughter and I booked a table for 6:30 p.m. We explained when making the reservation that we had theatre tickets for an 8:00 show. No problem, they said. It was a problem. First, there were no tables when we arrived. They seated us at the bar. We ordered drinks and food, explaining again that we needed to be at a nearby theater before 8. At 7:45, we still had not been served. A server asked "is everything all right?" I said no, told them why. They said they would summon the manager. No manager appeared. In disgust, we paid the $60 bar tab (this was 2 drinks apiece). By the looks of things, the kitchen was very backed up. We left hot (did I mention that it was incredibly hot inside the restaurant?), hungry, and annoyed. You only get one chance to make a first impression. We won't be going back.

The Blue Dog

By Navigator24003583952 |

The Blue Dog is a great and central Spot near Times Square, and is optimal for Brunch and Dinner. The Food is unbelievably delicious and the portions are large. But I especially want to point out, that the service is super, and they go out of their way to make your visit as pleasent and enjoyable as possible. I have been given the QR Code to give a Review by Danijel, who gave us the Service and was super great to us.

Hip downtown type place in Midtown

By Jason R |

This place is what New York City is all about. Great menu options, Started out with the calamari which was one of the best I have tried in the country and had the French Connection burger medium rare came out medium as expected of burgers. The place is quaint and perfect for a dinner date before a show and drinks after a show. I'll make this place one of my go to in Midtown. Love it!

Hidden Cozy Bar/Restaurant

By Elman1952 |

Tiny bar and restaurant, with a hidden entrance and VERY tight quarters. Sitting at a table with other diners is common. Service is excellent. We only had appetizers and desserts. Sliders were very good. Chicken dumplings were excellent. Both desserts were wonderful. AVOID the "deviled eggs'. They are, in fact, cold soft boiled eggs with some topping applied. The truffle cauliflower was ineateble. That is the reason for 4 stars instead of 5.

The Breakfast of Champions

By Bear K |

It was such an outstanding welcome, a really cosy breakfast, food to die for a coffee refill, what more could we do but go again the next day. Daniel our waiter was so attentive and caring and also good company. It would make absolute sense to do it again the next time we are in NYC. So we shall! Oh! One other thing - the backstory about the owner is one to capture.

Hard to Get Into, But Worth It

By veteran_vacationer |

The entrance is around back, and the dining room is small with shared seating, but the food is excellent. We went there for brunch and enjoyed every minute of it. The décor is interesting, and while the room is small we didn't feel like anyone was encroaching on us.

Poor cooking execution

By moransj |

Ordered Octopus starter then NY Strip, spicy Tagliatelle with Seafood and Gnocchi. Octopus was tough and under seasoned. Tagliatelle was the best, nice spice but missing the crab that was in the description. The Gnocchi sauce and shrimp were great but th Gnocchi were heavy and doughy. The steak was thin, pan fried and not particularly flavorful. Ok, but probably won’t come back.

Great restaurant

By mb1999 |

We had a wonderful dinner experience and would definitely recommend the restaurant. The food was great and so was the service.

Almost perfect.

By Sunshine54320787660 |

Everything perfect, excellent food and service although the distance between tables is minimal. They should be attentive to the capacity not to overcrowd the premises.

Service Emporium

By jayrodsan |

Stoped for a beer with my son becuase it was raining. I can attest to their hospitable service....after all that is what anyone seeks! Their service is right up there! Never been treated so well...even in finer places! If you want to be treated like you matter: this is the place. Oh and their food is worthybof Hell's Kitchen!

Intimate and Secluded Dining Spot for Brunch

By LeeAuburn |

We had brunch here recently. Kinda hard to find location( at least the entrance is). Small quaint dining environment. Seating packed together but service, drinks and food were excellent.

Wonderful Breakfast

By Melarose |

We went for breakfast, and couldn’t have been happier. It’s a small space with great atmosphere. The coffee is rich and brewed perfectly. I had scrambled eggs with shrimp, asparagus, salmon caviar and sour cream. The eggs were creamy and the caviar added a nice salty bit to the asparagus and shrimp. My husband had beef short ribs eggs Benedict. We both were immensely pleased. The portion size was perfect. Highly recommend.

Excellent place, very good brunch

By Abraham S |

I went with my wife to brunch after running the NY half marathon, and the place lives up to the reviews it has. It's small but nicely decorated, the food was very good (I recommend the French toast), and it was a great experience sitting at the communal table that occupies half of the restaurant. Highly recommended.

A NYC must do

By Molly D |

We went for breakfast. The short rib Benedict was perfectly delicious. Companion had a waffle with fresh baked sour dough. Highly recommend!

Best breakfast in NYC.

By Kathy91942 |

This is the best breakfast! Food is outstanding and plentiful. I had the crispy French toast with bacon and a cup of fresh fruit. My friend had an omelet, a latte and fresh fruit cup. Service is friendly and quick but you are not rushed. It is small and noisy but fantastic. I saw several order the Oreo cookie waffle. Looked heavenly.

Tiny but very nice!

By Duff1052 |

While visible from W50th the actual entrance is in the breezeway of the building. The service was fine. We had Bloody Mary's ( Mary Magdalen's) and two different takes on the Eggs Benedict. Both were very nice and the prices were moderate. While the room is tight the ambiance is still pleasant . Worth a stop or two.

a MUST!

By monikaesu28 |

The food is SO fresh! A friend and I ate here before seeing Mean Girls (only 2 blocks away). We couldn’t have been happier with our choice. We had reservations (through open table) for 6pm. Our waiter was attentive. The cocktails were of high quality! The food was beyond good. I’ll be back!

Nice vibe

By Kptommo08 |

Nice bar which has a good atmosphere. A little cramped for our evening meal and a tad dark. Meal was excellent and staff attentive.

Good food, bad service

By Martina A |

If you don’t like waiting for them to serve you at a restaurant, bypass this restaurant. I waited 45 minutes to get the avocado toast. The people who came after me were served before me. It's a small space, so you sit and watch others eat, and your food still doesn't arrive. It's awful that a restaurant where breakfast costs $ 30 doesn't have WIFI.

Excellent!

By jerseybill2 |

Blue Dog is a hidden gem in the heart of the city. From the food to the service, I couldn't ask for anything better. This is a great place for a date and would not recommend for large parties as this was a very tiny, 1 room place. Besides the space, our waitress, Melissa, could not have been any better. Her great attitude and overall personality, made you feel like relaxed and at home. Despite a little mishap, she was kind enough to give us a free round of drinks and a free dessert! Recommended Food: Apps - Friend Mac & Cheese Entree - We had the seafood pasta and a burger w/ salad (though all entrees looked amazing) Dessert - Lava cake We will most definitely be back here. Also it is a block away from the Wicked show. And reservations is a must (pretty easy to get one though)

Delicious

By titchholloway |

Went here for breakfast due to reading the great reviews on here, and it didn't disappoint. I had the pumpkin and blueberry french toast, and it was delicious.

Worth the wait

By Victoria C |

Our motley crew went searching for a good place to have brunch during a recent trip to NYC to see our girl Tiff perform at Bowery Electric (which I know you wonder ..was awesome she nailed it!) Anyway we had a “20 min” wait which turned into an hour wait- however- we were comped the most delicious frenchtoast! Seating is limited and our party of 7 sat at a large plantation style table with 8 strangers but it was fine. Everyone behaved. Food is great but pricey

Great spot near the theaters

By Caralyn52 |

Cute spot, cool vibe, delicious food. A great place for dinner before a show. We came in as a family and were sat at a community table, which was a little bit of a squeeze, but worked ok. The food was excellent - burgers, short rib, salmon - all excellent. The staff was attentive and very nice. Service was efficient but not rushed. Highly recommend!

Pricey but worthwhile breakfast

By legend187 |

We made the walk to this restaurant following research, and it is really tucked out of the way. There is limited space inside and the restaurant was heaving, so very fortunate to get a table. We opted for chicken and waffles, and chocolate chip pancakes along with two hot drinks. The food was absolutely spot on, however the bill was quite high. That is the only reason I did not award the 5 stars, as the price is prohibitive to repeated visits.

New Blue Dog Cookhouse &Bar in Boca Raton, Florida

By jdm |

Shout out to the entire staff at blue dog cookhouse particularly our server Ava and the manager Dimitri! The place is simplistically contemporary in its design with a large bar and patio dining area and approximately 40 tables inside. This was an exceptional experience. Both the tuna tatake appetizer and the octopus appetizer were excellent. My wife and I shared a salad which was just OK for a salad, and my wife ordered a calamari salad appetizer which was quite large but had more greens and rice noodles in it then calamari. When we notify the waitress Dimitri, the manager came over immediately and was incredibly apologetic and asked if we wanted to replace it with another entrée or appetizer. We declined and instead ordered dessert and coffee. Not only did Dmitri remove the calamari from our bill but also was kind enough to comp the desert. We will definitely be back to this restaurant!

Great breakfast

By barryjamese |

Upgrade your breakfast and try the blue dog, very clean, fantastic chief with freshly prepared top quality food. All the staff were excellent and well turned out. Don’t miss out on the smoothies.

Excellent breakfast place in Manhattan

By ADXBS |

Really enjoyed our breakfast shielded from the hustle and bustle of midtown. The food was excellent and the service very friendly and welcoming.

Cozy ambience and excellent food

By Adrienne C |

The Blue Dog feels like a well-kept secret. It’s right in the heart of Midtown, but once you step inside it’s like you’re transported to a different era. When we went, silent films were projected on the wall which created a very vintage and nostalgic atmosphere. The decor is very homey and inviting, and the fried chicken sandwich I ordered was outstanding. I’m excited to try the Blue Dog’s many different types of burgers in the future as well.

Bum’s rush left a bad taste in our mouths

By John L |

Weeks ago I made a 4:45 pm reservation for 4 at the Blue Dog for our pre show dinner. Ordered appetizers, mains, dessert and a nice bottle of wine which arrived well into the main course after a reminder to our server. Our bill arrived during dessert with wine still in our glasses and we were asked to leave at 5:59 because people were waiting for a table. If I had known that we had a limit of an hour and 15 minutes for dinner I would have chosen a different restaurant. To be sent out, audibly to the diners around us, before we were ready to go was a little embarrassing. It’s a lovely little place with a nice atmosphere but I wish the experience had ended differently.

Not for us…

By Hillary W |

I don’t usually leave negative reviews, but my experience at Blue Dog was disappointing enough that I feel compelled to share it. Unfortunately, the visit was cut short due to the unprofessional behavior of the manager. From the moment we walked in, the manager was unwelcoming and unnecessary rude with an attitude that made us extremely uncomfortable. It wasn’t just a bad day; it felt personal and hostile enough that we decided to leave before sitting. We were really looking forward to trying this place, but based on this experience, I wouldn’t recommend it — at least not until there are serious improvements in how management treats guests.

A cozy dinner spot - a welcome change from the hustle and bustle of NYC

By Fgibson |

Our NYC local travel guide (Lora from Beyond the Square) recommended this spot to us and I am so glad she did! After a few days of hustle and bustle trying to do and see a lot of things on our first NYC trip, my 2 teenage sons and I really enjoyed the much more calm and warm atmosphere of this restaurant. It is pretty small space, especially compared to so many other of the touristy dinner spots, but the tight space was overshadowed by the wonderful friendly atmosphere and service. We got salads, steak, and burger with a fried mac & cheese appetizer - the food was delicious and the portions were large. We probably felt the most "at ease" here than anywhere else during our trip (other than our hotel).

Everything was good except the limited space

By FLBFive |

Needed to reserve a table before taking young ones to a show. The place is small. In retrospect, this was not the best place to take 2 six-year-olds, but we managed. Food was tasty, displayed nicely and service was good. Was not thrilled about being seated at the end of a community table where people stood directly next to us as they waited online for the 1 bathroom.

What a find!!

By Mark R |

Went here for the first time for a weekday brunch. Both food and service were stellar. We will definitely be returning, perhaps next time for dinner!

Tasty, quick and very friendly staff

By Solange V |

Tasty and original dishes. Very friendly and attentive staff. The octopus is highly recommended! Cozy atmosphere. Best to make a reservation, although they always try to find a seat.

Theater District Brunch

By SUBZEROSKIDD10 |

Searching for a bloody mary near my hotel in the theater district, I discovered The Blue Dog Cookhouse And Bar. This place appears to serve their version of brunch not just on the weekends but every day. I was able to get a seat at their bar but the place was surprisingly busy for a Monday morning. I ordered the huevos rancheros, which was sunny-side eggs, a black bean purée, feta cheese, tomatillo salsa, cherry tomatoes, sweet pickled peppers, and poblano crema all over crispy tortillas. This was an explosion of flavors, colors, and textures, and tasted very fresh. The Mary Magdalene bloody mary was on the small side for $16 and had one slice each of lemon and cucumber. It tasted a little heavy on the horseradish and could have had more/better garnish, but I have had worse bloody marys. Overall, The Blue Dog Cookhouse And Bar has an eclectic food menu and a variety of drink options for your brunch, lunch, or post-theater cravings.

Good place to eat. Good Atmosphere. Near Rockefeller Center.

By George614 |

It was our first trip to New York and you never know about food choices. But this was a pleasant surprise. We found this restaurant after we visited Rockefeller Center. We ordered off of thier brunch menu. Service was good. Food was tasty. I have no complaints. We went as a family of four - not sure if anyone cares, but our choices were the Chicken and Waffle, the Goddess Aphrodite, the French Connection and the Champignons - all good. I would recommend it if you are hungry after visiting NBC and / or Rockefeller Center.

Great food and service!

By D J M |

Food and service was great! Cute little restaurant on 50th. Entrance is in the corridor of the building so it was hard to find it at first.

Very nice

By Alice H |

A really nice restaurant in an otherwise rubbish area for eating. The options for breakfast are particularly good and even though things like the juices seem a little pricey the servings are hearty. The toilets are also stunning.

Wonderful small restaurant & bar with very high quality offerings.

By traveltheworld012 |

We were in NYC and staying at a friends apartment just one block from here. On December 26, 2023, we came here for breakfast (well, they call it brunch) at 9AM and t was already very full, but we were seated right away at a table for two next to the window. Seating here can be tight as tables are close together and in the center are large tables where you may need to share with other parties. We squeezed in as the space between these tables is only about 15". Ahhh, but the service and the food is very well worth it. Our server Danijel was very friendly and efficient at his work. We really loved the food. Coffee was top quality, freshly made and strong. My wife had the Croque Monsieur, a chef specialty - a benedict with ham, cheese, bechemel on sourdough, served with fries. I had the Traditionaal Benedict with pork, which was really very high quality thick bacon with very little fat. Also potatoes and greens. They have a full bar here and a great menu. I highly recommend dining here.

Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast WOW

By Mychelle K |

We made reservations for brunch. The Pumpkin Stuffed French Toast was amazing. Crisp on the outside and creamy rich filling. So good. My daughter had pancakes and bacon which was an ample portion.

fabulous, tiny, quick

By scbeaches |

lovely food. we had avocado toast w egg whites and the vegan burger. both were delish. also enjoyed the saint citron (st germaine, brut, lemon). it was a bit chilly and it is a small restaurant. also they rushed us out when they needed the table. perhaps a good spot for drinks only. we really enjoyed the food though, just a bit rushed.

A gem of a restaurant

By NancyGail |

We were lucky to have a mutual friend who introduced us to Nemo, the manager. Nemo is a dream of a guy. Interesting, educated and runs a great restaurant. My husband started the evening off with a tequila, (generous pour and excellent quality). I had the Adriatic cocktail. Delicious and refreshing!! We started with an appetizer of chicken dumplings ( more like potstickers) that were fabulous. I had the charred octopus for an entree. They substituted the cherry tomatoes for asparagus which I appreciated. The octopus was excellent, and the portion huge. My husband had one of the specialty hamburgers and thought it was one of the best hamburgers he has ever eaten. We finished with dessert, a chocolate mocha cake which is made by a local Hungarian bakery. Very tasty. I would go back to this restaurant in a heartbeat. A lovely selection of food and high quality.

Outstanding food and service.

By Karleen Peter |

The food was hot and fresh, Marlon gave great recommendations, and Stephen's friendliness made our experience amazing. A fantastic NY-style restaurant!

Too Snooty to Seat Us

By MrsB503 |

They turned us away, with the place 90% empty. And they were very snotty about it. Never again. If you want to go there, you'd better have reservations. And, watch out for the attitude.

First time, won’t be the last!

By fitzhoyt |

Yum yum!!! Our first time here & I’m glad we chose it. Our food was outstanding!!! One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time & I also love the Parmesan fries! Service was great too.

Best Restaurant in Midtown, It's a must!!!!

By Selma Fonseca |

OMG this place is so amazing, the food is delicious and if you are vegetarian there are so many choices, try the Buffalo cauliflower, Vegan Meatballs, Mac and Cheese Balls, Chicken wings, and the seafood pasta is to die for... The atmosphere, lighting, music and the people that work there make this place perfect. Before or after a Broadway show, to take a date, this is a must! And there is more... the drinks, the mezcal drink you have to try. Thank you all for making my night so special! Kisses, Selma

Love this place!

By Sarah W |

Ate here with my husband. He had a great steak and I had a wonderful vegan meal - cauliflower steaks with butternut purée. Service was excellent and the place was not noisy.

Omelette!

By Vaughan W |

My wife and I disagreed over this one - I would give 5* rating for the best omelette I think I have ever had. Service was great, delicious coffee and a cozy atmosphere with a good buzz. My wife would give 3* as she found it too busy and squashed (it is a tiny restaurant and you rub shoulders with the person sitting next to you) and the options for breakfast she felt were limited and all huge. $60 for our breakfast means it is not cheap, but quite typical around NYC for a sit down breakfast. Go see for yourself - it is popular and you may have to queue out the door, but I reckon it is worth it!

Great food!

By Luciana Xavier |

The place is small but cozy. The music is great and the staff is very kind. I came for the brunch and the food was amazing. Very delicious! The food was ready very fast as well. There is a huge table at the middle of the restaurant, but my impression is the place is good for couples, small groups and single ones looking for a peaceful place to read a book, have a small talk while have a good meal.

Little Cafe / Big Taste!

By EdmontonRealtor |

Looking for a breakfast spot and found this one on TripAdvisor. Tiny little cafe, waiting 15 min. to get a table but well worth it. Had eggs benny great portion, very good!

Very very cool place...

By Ian H |

A great find thanks to trip advisor. Yes it’s hard to get into at times, but good places are. Food was lovely, I had the breakfast wrap with chorizo and avocado. The juices are just amazing. Really recommend this place.

Maybe not

By elsbethcat |

Food was mediocre, dim and noisy, wait staff more interested in each other than their clients. Expensive. In short, don’t bother.

LOVE the Omlettes!

By Scott C |

Outstanding breakfast on a quiet Saturday Morning on the edge of Times Square. Located in the same breezeway as a hotel, the entrance can be hard to find as there is no entrance from the street. The restaurant was bustling, so I sat at the bar. The Barista made a mean Chai Latte which was creamy and delicious. I had the Omelette with Havarti Cheese, Sausage, Mushrooms, and Roasted Peppers. WOW. This was delicious and huge. Really liked the leaky salad that was served with the Omelette. Service was good and the bill with tip came to $38, not bad for NYC, and worth the price!

Top breakfast

By Faw |

Nice discovery. Great choice. Breakfast for all tastes. We're enjoying it. Already our third visit. Top service. Adorable waiters

Strange Seating but Good Food & Prices

By Suzanne Dumont-Millan |

The tables are kind of on a slant & sometimes your eating close to others. It's a small restaurant but the food & drinks were good & not expensive. Our bill for 6 of us was $372.35 which included tax & tip. We ate: Basil & Pesto Farfalle $23, Salmon Burger $30 (truffle fries $2.00 extra), Shrimp & Lobster ravioli $32, It was good to me, Senor Benedict burger (w/egg & hollandaise sauce) $26.00, my husband loved it & 2 other $25 & $26 dishes that I forgot what they were. Drinks: 3 cocktails $40, 2 Forst beers $14, 2 white wines $28. All was good, I think. Parties of 5 or more, they add 20% tip. They will divide up to 4 checks. We had 3, A good location for theatre, My only complaint was they had no paper menus that really bugged me) & the server was not too helpful with that.

Great food, crowded & tiny dining room

By Lacey H |

The food here was very good, we ordered the filet mignon & our daughter had the lobster ravioli. Service was not the most attentive, but that did not ruin our dinner by any means. The down side to our experience was the size of the dining room-tiny. Even though it’s small, they attempt to fit as many people as possible. The table we had barely fit our drinks and one appetizer plate per person, let alone our dinner plates. Being in the city, this is to be expected, I just didn’t realize quite how small it was. There was less than 6 inches between our table and the one next to us, very awkward getting out to use the restroom. I couldn’t get out of there fast enough to get rid of the claustrophobia. If you’re okay with that, it will be a great experience!

Stay far away!

By J E |

Stay far away from this restaurant. Our party of 7 made a reservation for Saturday brunch at 10 a.m. When we arrived they sat us at a table for 6. No big deal, right? Then we waited for 25 minutes before flagging the hostess to tell her that no waiter had approached our table. One then came over, no apology offered, and took our order. The drinks came and the mimosa that was ordered was only orange juice. Again, not a huge deal. After more than 40 minutes our meal came. Except for the 4 year old's pancakes. They brought the wrong item for him. So they took it back, saying that it would only be a few minutes and asking if we wanted the stack of 5 or just one pancake. At this point we chose to have one, thinking it would be faster.Wishful thinking. After 30 minutes we flagged down the manager. He apologized and said, "I'll take care of the check." Adding that the kitchen was very busy and it would only be a few more minutes. The waiter then came and asked if we wanted any more drinks "on the house". After THIRTY more minutes, during which time the party next to us who came in an hour after us ordered, ate, paid and left, my daughter went to look for the manager. By this time we had already finished eating and paid the bill which was NOT taken care of by the manager. We received 15% off and they took off two drinks. Please note: they charged us the $20 for the ONE PANCAKE! After she found him and demanded the freakin' pancake he came out of the kitchen with it. This restaurant shouldn't be open if they can't handle the customers. One pancake does NOT take an HOUR to make!! That order should've been taken care of before any new order but for whatever reason, it was not. I will never, ever return to this place and I will tell everyone I know to avoid it at all costs. This experience was beyond unacceptable. I wish I could give them zero stars.

Delicious food, charming place and exceptional service

By Daniela V |

A very charming restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was wonderful. Our bartender was Mia and she provided exceptional service. Food portions are large and delicious. I had a vegan burger and I loved it. Benedict was great too. Drinks were delicious. I would definitely go back to this place

Very Expensive Breakfast but Worth It

By TheRock70 |

There are no reservations so it's a hit or miss to get into this place. We had the French Toast and Eggs Benedict for breakfast with some coffee. Total bill with tip came to about $75. Was it worth it? Yes. They had a carmelized french toast with bananas that had to be one of the best French Toast dishes we have eaten. The benedict was well made with properly seasoned potatoes on the side. You may need a side gig to help pay for this experience, but highly recommend trying the French Toast at least once

Amazing food and fantastic staff! A gem of a find!

By Karen G |

What an absolute beauty of a find! Such a cosy welcoming place with amazing staff and the most fabulous food! Nothing too much trouble and gawd the food! The food! Definitely seek this place out as it’s amazing!

Quick bite before theater

By Anita |

Stopped here for a drink and snack before theater. Vibrant little place with friendly staff and good variety on menu.

Hmmmm delicious!

By Charlotte H |

Delicious!! Ate here with two friends for an early lunch-the restaurant was packed! Portions are huge and pricing is reasonable for NYC (in my opinion). The place is very cosy so it is a bit of a squeeze but worth it! A must for brunch/lunch!

Can’t give a complete review.

By Vickie L |

The servers were awesome. The food was meh! I wish the menu could have been more. Loved the silent movie! We heard the breakfasts were good but we didn’t get a chance yo check that out.

Great branch

By Anastasia K |

I enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the great choice of positions in menu. I got a table without reservation and had a very good service . I suggest one of the smoothies , Banana latte is delicious. And you should to try a Shrimp brioche roll.

Amazing Lattes!!

By 40tjenn |

Raspberry white chocolate & PB & J lattes! Went for breakfast but after being seated decided we just wanted coffee to go. Staff was super accommodating. Easily the best coffee we had all week.

Healthy, Hearty, and Delicious!

By Maureen B |

Best omlet I have ever had. Called “tailored omlets” - You can select up to 5 add-one - so i chosed chicken, roasted peppers, kale, spinach and cheddar cheese. It was thick and just so flavorful. The dish came with the perfect amount of roasted potatoes (about 8-10 cubes and a wonderful wild leaf salad with a very very Light oil/vinegar dressing on it. Healthy and filling. Also had a protein shake (vanilla whey) called Queen of the jungle - with kale , spinach, banana,?and OJ. Yum!

Excellent and quick service. Wonderful hamburger.

By Cooldudeds |

I had not eaten all day and ordered a hamburger and shake from a restaurant for delivery. An hour later, I called to check on my order and they informed me that it was ready and awaiting pickup. 20 minutes later, I called again and was told it was still sitting for some delivery company to pick it up. So by now it was 8:40 pm. I told them to cancel my order as I would not want to eat a cold meal and separated shake. They were nice enough to do so but courtesy would have been to contact me and let me know what was going on with my order. I looked on the map to see where I can walk and pick up food. Came upon Blue Dog which I recalled about 5 years ago going with my girls for breakfast. I know we loved their food back then and the atmosphere. So I walked over and ordered a burger to go. He was kind enough to not only request a quick turnaround from the kitchen but also to give me a serving of fries on the house. The burger and the fries were delicious. The atmosphere looked very welcoming as I remembered.

Great Eggs Benedict

By ExplorerTerra202 |

We came here for a birthday brunch. The location, while a bit hard to find, is very nice with good outdoor, covered seating and a cute interior. The eggs benedict was delicious and reasonably priced (for NYC). The staff was very friendly and accommodating for the birthday brunch. Would recommend!

We came here twice it was that good

By Kelly F |

Loved here , we came here twice in 5 days. Brilliant breakfast - we had the pancakes , eggs b and breakfast wrap. Coffee not as good as elsewhere but won’t complain ! Nice place tucked away and chilled. Not cheap but then nowhere is. Great find - thank you ! We wanted the American breakfast and we got it! Big portions but not intimidating!!

Watch out

By Michael N |

Great food... But watch out for your money... They just cheated us 20%... (Gratuity).. no code or signatur was used, So bill is rejected by the bank..

Excellent

By Amber N |

We enjoyed a dinner here before a Broadway show. Exceptional food, very nice atmosphere. Friendly staff. The seared branzino was delicious. Definitely worth a meal!

Wonderful! Looking forward to returning the next time I am in NYC

By Ron R |

I had breakfast here, arriving when it opened at 8.30 am. Great interior space — wonderful feel to it on a cloudy, chilly morning. I had one of the best omelettes ever — not cheap — $20 — but filled with goodness of my choosing including spicy chorizo. Highly recommended.

Theater district cafe

By Bruce S |

If you’re in the theater district and looking for a cozy place for a bite before or after the show, this is the place to go. Delicious food, attentive service, charming hospitality. Highly recommended are the appetizers which I was able to pair with a bowl of the French onion soup for the perfect combination on a chilly winter day. Customers were also raving about the burgers and pasta dishes. Kudos to the manager Travis who made this first time patron feel like regular.

Great food

By Carolyn Q |

We booked to eat here before seeing a show and it wasn’t disappointing. The service was relaxed and very polite. They made us cocktails that weren’t on the menu and they were very good . Food was really nice and well presented

Enjoyable

By ROBERT I |

We were looking to try something new. The Blue Dog is a casual place, quiet enough for a conversation when it is not full. Black and white silent movies playing on a large screen captivated some diners but not all. The menu offered several interesting options. Two of us found the special salad (salmon, shrimp choices etc) especially good. Everyone was happy. The bartender made a top notch gin & tonic with my call brand. One negative—they didn’t operate the Airconditioning when it would have been greatly appreciated.

Amazing breakfast

By Jordanne |

My favourite breakfast from New York. I had the pumpkin stuffed french toast and my other half had the caramelised banana french toast. Both delicious and so filling. They also refilled coffee. It’s a quirky cafe with lovely staff. Highly recommend

Cozy and delicious

By REBECCA F |

A great find in the theater district. Friendly staff, interesting cocktails, good food. The Buffalo Cauliflower appetizer was exceptional.

Exceptional experience and food

By Paul C |

We had an exceptional experience at Blue Dog. There was 12 of us for an early dinner. I picked Blue Dog due to it's diverse menu and great reviews. We were warmly greeted by the host and sat right away. Carlos our server was excellent and promptly attended to our table. He answered all of our questions and recommended great appetizer's and drinks. The Tuna Tartare and Brussel Sprouts were amazing. Apps and drinks came out fast and Carlos took our dinner order. We ordered different items and everyone was super happy with their choices. It was all so good. I went with a steak salad and squash soup. It was fresh and delicious. Everyone in our party loved their meals. In fact we loved everything about Blue Dog, the service, the food and the ambiance. It was a huge hit and I received a ton of compliments choosing Blue Dog. Highly recommended!

Dirty and messed up reservation

By Charles33979 |

Called and made reservation. Arrived 5 minutes early. Was told they did not have table for us. They ruined our dinner before theatre. They were rude on top of it. The restaurant was strangely very dirty. Avoid this restaurant like the plague.

The burgers are amazing here (scrumptious)!

By Robert P |

This place is DELICIOUS!!! The menu is American style but diverse. The servers are kind, knowledgeable and accommodating. Our server, Daniel, was SO nice, quick and helpful!! The ambience is comfortable, clean and friendly. I love this place's and I will be back!

Good food but rude staff

By Helena W |

Great food, but staff was rude with an unnecessary attitude. Also had a time limit of 1 hour for brunch, which I find really short. Furthermore, they let us know after we got there that you could only pay in cash that certain day. This was after much mailing with the manager beforehand, without him mentioning it to us once.

Great location, Food & Cocktails!

By bbnyla |

Great location, Food & Cocktails! Met up with friends here and had a nice time catching up! It is small, so quarters were quite tight, but nicely appointed. The staff was very friendly. There's one long farm style table to share & smaller tables along the sides. I would recommend Blue Dog Cookhouse in a minute, but would suggest trying to go at a low-peak time of day / evening.

Amazing breakfast / brunch

By abbieyelland |

Perfect hidden find, decor is beautiful, staff really attentive too. Robert was so friendly & lovely to chat to we felt very well looked after. The smoothie choice is amazing!! Food delicious was hard to choose what to go for

Small and personal - none the worse for it.

By Dazzled1062 |

Slightly tucked away and nondescript from the outside. As other reviewers have said this is quite a small restaurant but that's a plus point in an area dominated by large eateries. The burgers were probably the best of the week 5 days spent in NYC and they weren't unreasonably priced. The service is reasonably sedate but it suits the style of the restaurant and wasn't an issue. Overall a good dinner. Worth seeking out.

Amazing french toast and hospitality

By Jessica R |

Amazing spot for breakfast. Although the menu was vast so plenty options for lunch. The interior is very cool and the bathroom was super clean. Recommend trying the french toast which was incredible. And we got our first good cup of coffee since arriving in NYC. Gustavo made the experience! His service and hospitality was wonderful. We will definitely be back.

Great time

By Vicky E |

Amazing food and service Nothing too much trouble Drinks were nice too. What a great place to dine We will definitely return

Excellent brunch!

By AM2 |

My son and I had a very yummy breakfast at the Blue Dog café. I had the lox platter and my son had the crispy french toast. The lox platter had a delicious crema on it and it was over tater tots which was unusual. I didn't love the tater tots but I enjoyed everything else. It also had fried capers which had a bit of a salt crunch to them. It was pretty to look at and yummy to eat. Both meals were plated beautifully. The food took a bit of time to come out but our server was very attentive. Also, the coffee was strong and perfect. I think the best cup of coffee that I had in my entire trip to New York. It was expensive but all of New York seems to be expensive. It's not a place for cookie cutter looking food, but who would want that anyway?

Great breakfast!

By ricalx11 |

Eggs Benedictine’s were really good, with potatoes and salad. Pancakes with fruit compote and caramel were very fluffy! Nice intimate place, lovely day and night!

Lovely food and atmosphere

By B M |

We stopped here for brunch and it was lovely. The food was perfect and the service was very pleasant. Highly recommend the vegetable quesadilla. The decor is also gorgeous and it was candle lit even at brunch! My only negative was the price of the mimosas! Thank you for a lovely meal.

Wonderful, cozy germ on West 50th St. with delicious, wide-ranging fare

Blue Dog Cookhouse is a cozy gem on W. 50th St. that serves a nice varied menu of pastas, seafood, burgers and also brunch every day. We went for dinner and Travis, the manager, was very welcoming while seating us. Our drinks were well-crafted and timely, and the chicken dumplings appetizer was fantastic - great flavor and beautifully presented. The seared Atlantic salmon with citrus infusion and quinoa was deliciously tangy; the pan seared thyme chicken was very juicy and served with sauteed spinach and mashed potatoes; the crusted Ahi tuna with balsamic glaze was as excellent as I'd hoped and was paired well with wasabi mashed potatoes. A side of hand-cut fries was also very well made and devoured by the table. I'm onlky sorry I didn't take photos of the meal! Our server Darwin kept the meal moving nicely, a feat in the close quarters there. We suggest reservations, especially if you're going to the nearby New World Theater. The Blue Dog is definitely worth a visit!

A must for brunch

Not the biggest space but Fab food and service here today and the ambiance is special with a buzzy music vibe and Charlie Chaplin screening. All three meals were excellent and our 12 year old thoroughly enjoyed it although not sure you’d take younger kids. Prices are average for NY and portion sizes are NY too Good job guys

Fantastic!

Our daughter picked this place out specifically for the pumpkin stuffed French toast. It was very good. I had the steak and eggs and my wife had the crab cake Benedict. All were great. The service was awesome. Would recommend to anyone looking for a great meal.

Amazing brunch menu, but expect to wait during rush hours!

I came here this morning for brunch and made a 10:45 am reservation just an hour in advance (a lucky grab!). Despite getting there on time, my boyfriend and I waited about 40 minutes for our food. Now, that is a long time, and we were a little annoyed since we noticed a 5-person family who came in 15 minutes after us get their food before we did, but I chalked that up to how kids can get fussy and the staff probably wanting to avoid angry comments from them. Our waitress/hostess, Aleksandra, was clearly working so hard and was super swamped, constantly getting badgered by customers, yet she never once seemed exasperated when we asked questions about the menu. There was another male waiter, though I didn’t catch his name, who took care of us pretty quickly with everything we needed once our food got to us. Overall, the wait was really due to the Sunday brunch rush and having a small staff and many demanding customers! Therefore, I’d say: come here, but not if you’re in a rush. As for the food, I don’t think I’ve ever seen such a large non-alcoholic beverage menu for brunch, and I really appreciated that; they had so many amazing juices, smoothies, coffee drinks, iced teas—you will want for nothing when it comes to their beverages! Also, their brunch menu is large, varied, seasonal, and has some really cool stuff (I had the pumpkin brioche French toast, which I highly recommend). The place is a little pricey (we spent $80 for two people, pre-tip), so this place is a leisurely treat.

Yummy breakfast

Really enjoyed the pancakes and croque Monsieur. Coffee wasn’t great, tasted a bit odd. Quite a small place but we were able to walk in and get a table. Would recommend if you are near Times Square

Excellent brunch in a really quaint location. Sat at the bar and Luke greeted us quickly and was very friendly. Attentive and informative with recommendations. Had traditional Benedict and crunchy French toast. Both were excellent and cooked perfectly. Definitely would recommend and Luke is an asset to this establishment.
