I just happened upon this on a trip to New York and would totally visit again. The serving sizes are HUGE so you could share or take left-overs with you. Naked Veggie Burrito was very flavorful and the Nachos with beef were very tasty. They run a tight ship and a very tidy place with quick service and regularly cleaned tables, I highly recommend.

The food was good, cheap, and there was plenty of it, but it was cold. The bathroom was completely soaked, floors, sink, toilet seat. Overall an okay experience. I would come here again but I wouldn't go out of my way to go back.

From the minute you walk in you realize this is a Chilpolte offshoot. I'm surprised to say this place is equal to or better than Chilpolte. We had two naked burritos which contained fresh tasting ingredients and huge portions. Their seasoning seems more refined than Chipotle and the quality of ingredients is equal. The price point is good as well. Service was friendly. We had a carnitas and shredded beef naked burritos. Both highly recommended. They offer regular burritos, tacos, enchiladas and salads. This is a great choice for quick bite in Port Authority area.

We had burrito and nachos, both of which were delicious. For a fast food option I would recommend Blue Maiz!

Fn awesome food. Walking around looking for a spot to eat dinner found this place, excellent food and friendly staff.

Amazing food, friendly and inviting staff members. Sadly we only found blue maiz on our last night in New York as we would have used them more often during our stay. One of the very few food places that cater to vegetarians. Reasonably priced for such a city that is known to be expensive. Definitely give this a go if you’re a vegetarian or carnivore or on a budget. Be mindful the food comes with chips and salsa and the portions are more than English travellers will expect.

The Meat is tasty and so are the tacos, burritos, and quesadillas. It was so much better than food in some of the restaurants in the area.

We sampled the burrito, blue tacos, nachos and quesadillas. I can and will recommend it all. After exchanging a very reasonable amount of doubloons we retreated back to our lodgings and began our feast. At one point a rather seductive blue taco kissed my cheek as I was enjoying the company of a hot burrito rather than retreat to the safety of the well loved nachos I decided to invite her to join us what ensued was a ménage à trois of Mexican pleasure that lasted the whole night. Can’t wait to do it again

Skip Chipttole (across the street) and come eat here if you’re looking for some authentic Mexican. Salsa and food was fresh and staff was friendly

This is one of the best places I’ve been too. Similar to Chipotle’s set up but the flavor was out of this world. Amazing guys!!!!

After being in New York only a few hours, my husband and I chose to grab a bite here since it was right across from our hotel. I had chrizo nachos which were delicious and street corn which would have been awesome had it not been totally cold; however my husband had a totally different experience. He ordered a chicken quesadilla which came with this "white sauce". After about an hour, he was sicker than a dog with his head in the toilet, thus leading us to spend our first afternoon and evening in our hotel room. Not sure what made him sick, but had to be something from Blue Maiz since he hadn't eaten since leaving TN this morning. Hoping tomorrow will be better.

This is your basic taquería but with delicious food and good prices. We had the vegetarian quesadillas. The portions are large but more importantly, the food is delicious. It's not a fancy place, but if you like ordinary Mexican food, this is a great place.

Food has just the right taste, great deal for nyc. Chimichangas are nice sized. The staff was friendly as can be. Overall, a hidden gem,

Amazing food, and even better atmosphere, fueled by Happy Hour Rum Punch😀. Attentive staff and fast service. Highly recommended

Wanted to grab a quick snack upon arriving in the city. Was just going to grab chips and salsa, but they were so good , we ended up getting more stuff for a later meal.

I live in Florida, but would get on a plane any day to eat here again. It's a kinda unassuming place when you walk in. The concept is similar to Chipotle, but the taste and quality you can't compare....and I really like Chipotle, but this is NEXT LEVEL!! Portions are generous and the quality is fresh! I'm getting a craving while writing this review and annoyed I don't have have ready access to them. Make the trip...you'll love it!

Wonderful, authentic Mexican! Prices were reasonable, food was delicious. Not fancy, clean and friendly. We will return.

Genuine Mexican restaurant, very decent prices, fast service, very generous. We were 2 families of 4 . We ate there 2 times during our stay.

Great addition to the neighborhood! Easy to order online, food came promptly, and was delicious. I'm sure eating in the establishment is better but this will now be my go to Mexican food restaurant when ordering online.

Located near Times Square and the Theatre District, this is a small, local restaurant that is similar to Chipotle, Moe’s, etc. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. It’s a great option if you are in the area.

Staying at the Hampton Inn around the corner on 41st St. Blue Maiz is just 4 mins away on foot. Good tortilla soup and quesadillas. Inexpensive and good. Highly recommend.

A typical Latino meal!! A real delight!!! We feasted!! The very nice waitress!!! I advise, we had a great time!!

Absolutely excellent Mexican food with actual service. Fair prices . Wonderful flavors and service! NAI was wonderful! This place is a must when on the not so friendly 8th avenue. It's literally an oasis of kindness

Loved it! Don't change at thing! That chipotle sauce.. OMG! Still dreaming about it! Counting the days till I'm back in NYC so I can get another burrito!

Lunch for two today. A HUGE veggie burrito, chicken tortilla soup and street corn. Both flavor full and flavor fabulous! Great food, great price - about $20 for the two of us..:

This place serves incredibly tasty Mexican food at a great price. If you're nearby then definitely check it out! The soup was amazing, we'll be back!

We ate there for lunch while in town on business. Nothing fancy, no table service, but reasonable prices (you can't get a burger for less) and really pretty decent Mexican food. Fast service, a half dozen (maybe more) tables, lots of choices for condiments and hot sauces. If you're in a mood for an on-the-go meal that's better than average fast food, give it a try.

Good place to pick and choose what you want to eat served up quickly and efficiently. Guacamole made on-site which is a plus.

I liked their naked brittos. The guys put a lot of stuff you order. They have corn tacos so if you are into the real Mexicans, this place might be it.

Can’t believe I just found out about this place. I got the bowl and it’s probably one of the best I ever had & The employees are so nice! Come check this place out you won’t regret it!

I've never eaten or even stepped foot in this place but live close by and they're always great for delivery. They're quick and always comes fresh & delicious. Always a guaranteed good meal!

Blue Maiz offers a change of cuisine on Eighth Avenue. The restaurant allows you to build your taco or burrito or similar tasty treat from a variety of fillings, toppings and sauces. I chose chorizo as the base of my burrito with beans, cheese, lettuce and hot sauce filling a large tamale. It was fresh, delicious food in a clean restaurant. The local is recommended as a moderate priced option.

Friendly service, plentiful portion of tasty food, all at a very reasonable price for NYC. Definitely recommended for a quick Mexican meal.

You've probably walked right by this place a million times and you're missing out. Honestly the best Mexican food I've ever had. I got the quesadilla with chicken desmanzado. Even their pico is great you can't go wrong.

This was a fun, clean and great place to eat. Simple menu and great service. When you see 5 NYPD in the place eating you know this is good eats. If you like mexican and dont want to spend a fortune this is worthwhile.

Great choice of food, great advice. Tables, WiFi, food was superb. Wife had chicken Verde which she said hadn't enjoyed this much since she visited a Mexican in colombia

Stopped by for a take out and discovered this amazing restaurant! So surprised that the food tasted so good in this busy tourist area near Times Square! Ordered two naked burritos. One chicken and one beef. In short - bloody tasty, full of flavour, so tasty I couldn’t believe it! I can’t wait to return! Absolutely superb value for money! Highly recommended!!!

The food was good, somewhat similar to qdoba or chipotle. You pick your choice of protein or meatless, tortilla type if applicable, and sauces and add-ons. Not bad for a quick food place.

Nice little place. Unlike many of the hole-in-wall local eats I walked by around here, this place had a few tables with real chairs. (I can't do little backless stools - big guy with Osteoarthritis) the ordering process is similar to Chipotle but they do have some additional options. I got basically the same as I usually get at Chipotle and found their burritos a bit more authentic. The tortillia was well wrapped and held together. It was not too drippy, either, in comparison. Given a choice between the rwo, I would prefer Blue Maize.

'Blue Maiz' serves up homey, tasty Mexican staples including fat, filling tacos (x3), burritos and chimichangas. Lots of choices for vegetarians, quick & friendly service, and a perfect location. It would be nice to have more/local/craft beer choices, but a cold 'Pacifico' always pairs nicely with hearty Mexican food!

So many places to choose from in this area...and here is that quiet clean place in the middle of everything with great food! A healthy choice, first of all, big portions and super friendly service. We were glad to stop in and fill up with good Nexican food.

My husband and I had a long day of sightseeing and wanted to take something back to the room since we were so hungry. We came upon this and gave it a try. It was delicious! We both ordered for under $20 and couldn’t finish what we ate. It is very similar to Chipotle, but I honestly liked it better! I got the naked burrito, and my husband got the nachos! We both loved them and can’t wait to go back!!

For anyone in a hurry to get a bus in the port authority bus terminal and wanting to grab something that is cheap, filling and quickly this is the place. I ordered a burrito but it was mostly rice and not so much of the beef I was craving. Still okay, but perhaps I would try other restaurant before coming back here. Prices are average.

Stopped in for food; the food tasted nice however wasn’t as spicy as requested. Price expensive. It was busy and seems popular.

I came here with my family. My toddler (2years old) is absolutely picky with his food. We visited a couple of restaurants before and he would barely eat. When I tell you I ordered chips & guac for the table, flautas for my husband & a bowl for me. My baby devoured the chips and guac. My picky eater ate the whole thing & we were so happy he finally ate something& enjoyed it! He loved the guac and chips. He kept saying, “yummy, humm, yummy mommy”. For us the food was amazing. I love spicy food so ai put white rice, Carne Asada, corn salsa, sour cream, salsa verde and a little but of guajillo sauce & it was to die for! Amazing food! Will definitely be back!

Was in NYC for a gathering & Blue Maiz was in between where I had gone & where the gathering was. Saw a few folks, the price was right, & wanted soup. It was quick, the chicken tortilla soup was loaded with chicken, authentic & hot. Service was great. Only complaint is that I ran out of guac before chips! When I left it was packed. Great sign for a small place. And very convenient being right near Port Authority.

Fantastic service and delicious food. I'll definitely return on our next trip. The food was very good value, and was ready quickly. A hidden oasis in the chaotic streets of times square and the surrounding areas.

Great Mexican food at affordable rates in the heart of NYC! Very large portions and quick to serve making it even better

The food was great and there was plenty of seating. I would definitely recommend this place to friends and family. Yum!!

You won't even care for Chipotle after this place! The chicken is sooooo good! (all other 8 proteins are as well, but chicken is my fave) The ingredients they have are always fresh and tasty. The service is super quick even with super long lines. Give them a try!

This is in a tough area to get good food. Loved the meal here. The food was fresh and service was so friendly. Highly recommended over chipotle

Stopped at Maiz on the way to catch the bus at Port Authority. The bright and welcoming taqueria offers a variety of Mexican specialities at affordable prices. I opted for the 3 taco platter and chose chicken, beef and pork carnitas. The meats were gorgeously flavorful on my chosen blue corn tortillas. You have a variety of sauces that you can add to amp up the flavor. Coupled with a refreshing margarita, this was the perfect ending to a visit to the Big Apple.

We went here on our first evening in NYC as it was around the corner from the hotel we were staying at and we were tired so just wanted something quick. It was great, we got a burrito bowl and a burrito! The burrito bowl was huge and really nice. Fast cheap and nice food.
A step above Chipotle
Found this with good reviews on Yelp. It appears new and is a simple menu and process to order. What I like is that there are taco and quesadilla options with the same meats and condiments. I got the carne asada and was surprisingly tender. I especially liked the spicy Creamy Chipotle sauce and healthy amount of sour cream they put on my burrito.
