Quite a popular spot with great European coffee which is not easy to find in New York. Decent value compared to others I've found. Tea was refreshing and hit the spot.

Bluestone never disappoints. Delish avacado toast, delish overnight oats, AMAZING almond milk lattes. Filled our bellies - so delish. Bluestone always has our vote!

Had a much needed almond milk iced latte here after a visit to the Guggenheim. Had planned to eat in but there was a wait of 20 mins so got a takeaway instead and drank it in Central Park. Service was good and coffee was delicious. Ordering was a little chaotic but would definitely return for a future visit.

I love bluestone lane and the coffe and snacks from bluestone lane. Danny is a great Barista! Service with a smile :)

Great coffee and salmon for a quick breakfast. Good service and fair prices as well. Great location.

I really like the coffee here, and despite the fact that it is cramped and the service is slow, I love watching the streets of NY here and all the people watching. It has a great energy and I enjoy coming here for the coffee and pass some time.

A great start to the day with a well made flat white and a vegemite toast. New York coffee shops should take note. My hat off to the barista for a great coffee.

I ordered a mocha which came to $6.04. When I got my card bill it said $7.73! I spoke with corporate and someone had added a 30% tip to my bill! Still no refund from corporate. I recommend Gumption Coffee on 45th between 6th and Broadway.

As a Scotsman who's been in Melbourne for 12 years I've became a bit of a coffee snob/addict. Three weeks in the US left me desperate for a decent coffee that didn't taste of a muddy puddle topped with six inches of foamed milk. Having found a few Aussie cafes online and having visited another Bluestone cafe we sought out this place as we were close by. It's a tiny wee place with only a few bench seats so in Winter it's really only for takeaways. It was exceptionally busy so there was a pretty long wait. The lady taking the orders was completely lacking in any warmth so no smile or welcome at all. Very disappointing. After a long wait the coffee and hot chocolate arrived but was nowhere near hot. My son and I had to drink them almost immediately. Both were ok, simply average. Again, very disappointing. Be aware that they do not take cash.

For Aussies looking for a taste of coffee from home, along with some smashed avocado, the clean and vibrant Bluestone Lane cafes spread throughout New York are for you. Coffee influenced by the MELBOURNE coffee scene and prepared by real baristas.

We've just had breakfast here, ordered 2 lattes and 2 smashed avocado on toast. Waited 25 minutes....my husband went to find out what was the delay and our order had gone in the rubbish bin! Really??? The coffees were cold and way too strong. Not coming back here again, no service and no apology. What is the hype about? Go somewhere else for s good start in the morning.

Nothing beats a good smashed avo on toast for breakfast, and this is possibly the best I've had. (Coming from Australia, where smashed avo is basically our national dish, that's high praise!) Tip: order it with everything. It's amazing. Also rate the coffee - best coffee we had in New York!

My wife and I needed some coffee and time to chill. We came across Bluestone and it was great. Coffee was great, the zucchini bread was great and the people working there were cool and friendly.

Order a flat white or cappuccino -- and feel back home in Sydney. Nice setting with lots of seating outdoors.

The 8.99 Tuna Wrap smells as there is no fun at all in the world. Maybe it's healthy... Probably the coffee is better, the Watermelon juice is.

Visited bluestone a couple of times during my visit. The coffee quality was consistently good and enjoyed their ‘magic’. The oatmeal is also excellent.

Stopped in for a lite lunch with my daughter. She had an iced latte and breakfast bowl (please cut the kale smaller - 6 inch pieces are too big), I had the herbal tea, iced, and ab&j toast (almond instead of peanut). We splurged on a pain au chocolate. While the croissant was flakey and fresh, it would’ve been wonderful if heated. Friendly and knowledgeable staff, clean and cozy environment.

The lines are long and the staff aren't too friendly here. We wanted to order food but as soon as you reach the front of the line and can actually see the menu, staff are impatient with you, so we just ordered 1 coffee. It was about a 10 minute wait to get 1 cappuccino. The cafe is small so gets incredibly crowded with people waiting for coffees. While the coffee was good, I wont be returning to this location.

Finally good coffee...the location we chose was near Bryant Park...on the morning we went there it was not busy which was perfectly fine for us...we got a nice table ...2 tasty and strong cappuccinos and an Avocado plus a Cream cheese with salmon toast...the bread they use is fabulous...reminds me of good European quality bread...staff real friendly...I believe it was a no cash place...only credit cards accepted!

We got there at 8:30, no one else in there, yet it still took aver 30min to get an simple avocado toast, another 15min for a salad. Asked for a bit of extra dressing for a salad, was told no. Waiter and waitress very unwelcoming, unhelpful. Slow service, ridiculous prices for the average quality, super loud music… this should be at the very bottom of your list when it comes to breakfast downtown.

Was craving a good coffee whilst in NYC. Was excited when I read about Bluestone Lane. Walking distance from our accomodation. Did not disappoint I enjoyed a the coffee coffee I'd been missing, smashed avocado toast with the egg as an extra & an Orange Juice.Highly recommend!!

Went to Bluestone Lane on 6th Av for breakfast at 7.45am on a wet Thursday morning. The place is small but sufficient seating at that time of the day. I had the avocado toast which was very good and a little spicy with the chilli but nothing truly spectacular. The latte I had was tasty. I would return.

The worst thing about Australia's world leading coffee culture is that once you depart our sunburned shores all other coffee doesn't even deserve to be called coffee. Luckily fellow Aussies have taken it upon themselves to remedy this and the Bluestone Lane chain of Australian cafes in NYC are fixing this one real coffee at a time. Essential for any Aussie in the city.

Maybe I got them on a bad day, but my plain old drip tasted like old decaf (sour!!), and my sugar donut was completely stale. I don’t understand it. I had already left before I tasted any of it, otherwise I would asked to exchange or refund both. Here’s hoping my granola cup and pressed juice are better.

I may be biased being an Australian but comfortably the best coffee I have had in 5 trips to the states. The coffee is perfect, the dining menu offers many great options for breakfast and the juices in the fridge that are exclusive to Bluestone Lane are also very good. If you are wanting a great latte, this is the place for you.

I was looking forward to having a good flat white and this place didn't disappoint. After surviving on drip coffee, Bluestone was a real strong hit and I was very appreciative. Dragged a group of Americans with me and they were all impressed. Card only place, they don't take cash

The iced coffee was perfect on a very hot summer day as I wandered through midtown. Very good service and people seem to really enjoy their snacks as well. This plaza, a block north of the library is a very nice refuge from the crowds on 42nd St.

With a link to Australia these cafes serve vegemite toast, avocado on toast and Milo. The coffee is very good and there are a range of drinks. This store is only small so not a lot of space on a cold day but as the weather gets warmer there's lots of outdoor seating. Worth a try just for a good coffee experience in NYC.

I did some research on cafes in New York where this Australian could get a good coffee. I was in the area and tried this location, and unfortunately the coffee was not good and I didn't drink it. I found it too hot, and terribly bitter. It did not taste anything like a coffee from home. They also don't take cash, which is fine but may be an inconvenience to some.I did not try any other locations based on this experience, though the service was standard.

I love New York and I love the States - I just hate the coffee here. After 5 days of terrible coffee I finally made it to Bluestone Lane - what a relief. The flat white was creamy with a great espresso base. I also had the avocado smash with chilli and it was delicious. My only complaint was the food being served in a disposable cup and plate (although that packaging was innovative). I prefer ceramic but understand disposable is the way it’s usually done in the States.

Line looked long but really took 4 minutes to make the order, within 5 minutes I had my pumpkin loaf (fantastic) and avocado smash toast (perfectly made) and 4 minutes later had my Matcha latte (also great). A bit annoying to stand in line and not have waiters but whatever.

Housed in Episcopal church on upper east side. Extensive coffee menu all available in decaf as well. Limited menu but all items quality fresh ingredients. We sat outside. Inside seating very limited. It was a wonderful summer brunch. Service was very slow, but we had nowhere to go. Good people watching spot!! Nice neighborhood.

Visiting from Australia my husband and I were in search of good coffee. Bluestone lane delivered with good coffee but the service we recieved from the lady serving was disgusting enough to never return during our week stay in New York. There is also no option to use cash which I found off putting as travelling we don’t use card only cash so therefore I paid a conversion fee on coffee..

so cute, and they put so much effort into making all the food look nice! really a place to go have a lunch

Go here if you're missing the kind of coffee that we take for granted in Melbourne. Also does yummy toast with vegemite for those who are missing home. Other great food available too. Go to their other places for sit down cafe style food.

Good to support an Australian entity in NY & know the Bluestone Group is expanding & doing so well. I was advised Beans are brought in from Melbourne, Australia. Ultra friendly staff make a great cappuccino. Great to see the price indicated is actually what you pay at the till. A definite return to any of the Group in NY locations.

Go here if you want coffee (almost) as decent as in Melbs, Australia. The avo on toast was good too, you can get vegemite if you’re feeling particularly homesick. Their logo looks like Victoria police symbol, would love to know why?! Also think they should ease up on the packaging, even though the ‘cheers mate’ on the cardboard within the cardboard is cute. You can get the app and then get a $5 credit for your next visit too, and these guys are expanding fast across USA.

We love Bluestone Lane in this location and on 30 Carmine in the Village. Perfect breakfast place with a more extensive menu in the village location but all we really want here is the avocado smash! They even have it on gluten free toast if you need/want that. The coffee is good and the chai latte is the best I've had anywhere. Hot or cold. Beware... Severely understaffed on weekend mornings. Busier and more staff during the week but much slower on weekends. Still, we can't wait to go back.

5th Avenue: Great place, nice atmosphere in the vault, which is connected to a church, good service and good food.

This is one of the only decent place in the city to get coffee if you love traditional European espresso drinks! I ordered a flat white which most coffee places don't know how to properly make! It was incredible and I felt like I took a trip to Auckland! I recommend this for anyone around the area!

We loved the coffee here. They make Flat Whites & Long Macchiato which are hard to find in America We were loving this caffeine hit after drinking a lot of not so great coffee in our travels.

Starbucks is a safe-bet, however local coffee shops are so great when you can find them. Bluestone Lane has a few locations including 43rd near 6th Ave. Bit hidden; got to walk-up 43rd from 6th to see it. Very Friendly. High-Quality. Pleasant outdoor space. Avocado Toast is divine. Jack's Stir Brew is also a great choice.......

Great coffee great doughnuts super great avocado toasts. It would be nicer if the almond croissant was warmed a bit and as someone already said the paper cups are a bit of an insult to the great coffee. Still, I'd come again and again

It is so wonderful to be able to get a 'decent' cup of coffee while travelling. Not saying that coffee isn't great in other countries, but it is nice to be able to order something you are used to at home - even though we had to explain to the non-Aussie staff what we wanted! This little cafe is in a perfect position with seating outside or in and with lovely surroundings in the centre of New York. Great!

We made a special effort to find this place as we had been told that they were Australian and knew how to make good coffee. Wrong.......! It took two goes for them to get our order right, either because they weren't listening or because the volume of the music was entirely inappropriate for the small shop and they couldn't hear - like the rest of us ! When we finally got our coffees they were cold !! You guys are letting Aussie coffee shops down.

Early start Touristing, this was the perfect start. Avo smash, skinny latte, sorted! Easy and tasty! Finally a great coffee in NYC!

Bluestone Lane became our go to place for coffee while visiting Manhattan. Our only disappointment was that they were closed on the weekend. A clean shop with friendly, courteous service AND really good coffee. A great way to start off your morning!

Bluestone Lane was my daily saviour, until: No longer accepting cash, forcing customers to engage w a computer system that is difficult to use AND encourages a min 15% tip for coffee (outrageous). Friendly staff are too busy sticking Bluestone Lane labels in bags versus taking orders during rush periods. Customers want to be in and out. Friendly staff gathering near the register chatting versus helping baristas w coffee orders - especially when there are no orders to take from customers. Frustrating. The baristas should make the espressos and the register staff should fetch drip coffee orders. It's insane to wait for drip coffee until espresso drinks ahead in the queue are prepared. It's coffee, not rocket science. Customers want to be in and out. Efficiently. Quickly. Effortlessly. This place has fallen off the cliff. So disappointing as everyone is so nice and friendly. I'm dating other coffee shops in the nabe.

This cafe is very busy / crowded but the coffee is worth the hassle. The drinks are picked up at the end of the bar, but the food is picked up in the center of the bar (they call your name, regardless if you can hear anything or not because of the crowd). My wife liked the avocado smash sandwich and said it has a bit of spiciness to it. I really recommend sitting outside instead of trying to fit inside.

Great location, large space for seating and very good coffee. Service was quick. Plan to go back! I did not know this place was inspired by the coffee culture in Melbourne.

I had iced and hot regular lattes and both were excellent every single time. I also had matcha latte. It's served with almond milk. wasn't impressed with iced matcha but the hot one is great. It's a little expensive but it's really good coffee.

If you love proper coffee you must go to Bluestone Lane - there are 7 in NY so you can find one near to where you are staying. The coffee is great & you can get a good range of food for breakfast & lunch.

The staff at Bluestone in the Bryant Park location are very quick and friendly. My friend and I ordered avocado toast, a very easy dish to prepare at home. It was clear our meals weren’t properly heated up and the avocado was too mushy. However my iced chai was fine, perhaps a little too sweet. I think this cafe can take time to improve the food and then it will be more appealing to have breakfast.

Australian's (or any appreciator of real espresso coffee) looking for great coffee in the US is at best difficult. I had to wash the metaphoric filth off myself yesterday after going into Starbucks in Times Square. I had previously found some good coffee options (usually French inspired) in The Village but nothing prepared me for what I experienced today - quality Australian espresso at Bluestone. Today it was like I had died and gone to heaven! Now that being said, I have not had an Australian coffee for a while whilst being away so my senses may have been a little heightened. However, this is seriously great coffee so it stands out notably in a place where they are not aware of what great coffee really is. You have to judge the true experience of some reviewers at times on line in these forums but I have my own Italian Expresso coffee machine at home and I know how to use it! I use Merlo beans at home and this is almost on par. Milk options - they have normal full cream plus Soy & Almond which is something you will struggle to find normally in the US. Now for the rest - 1. No Cash and they make you touch the screen yourself re tipping. I find this a little cheeky. 2. Avocado toast if $8 US per slice - ouch! Made to perfection however with quality ingredients. 3. Double shot latte ends up costing US $5.44 including tax ($6.82 AUD as at 24.7.17) 4. US 50c loading for Soy All this being considered, I will go back to Bluestone Lane everyday that I am staying in Times Square. I would pay $10 for this coffee if I had to rather than drink the rubbish on offer elsewhere!

Bluestone Lane is not your average coffee shop. The tea and coffee selections come in many flavors and are made to order. The breakfast selections are limited but very tasty. Favorites included the Prosciutto Toastie and the Salmon toast. Seating is limited but the food and drink are worth the inconvenience of standing.

Finally good coffee in Brooklyn! Bluestone Lane is an Australian owned enterprise and the service is good ole" Aussie laid back and friendly. The coffe shops are cashless so just go the counter order what you want tap your card and sit down, Service is very prompt and the food is good whatever you order.

My friend and I found this gem just near the Guggenheim Museum in 5th Ave & East 90th Street. I had an extremely tasty and generous avocado toast with a real chai latte and my friend had a great Portobello Mushrooms toast with tea, also as great as mine. The coffee was placed in an ancient church, wich is so special and different location for brunch

This was my go-to espresso place the week I worked in NY. The espresso was rich and flavorful, have it macchiato and it is also great. The people are bright and cheery. There is a relaxing seating area outside in a wide space that is perfect for breaks.

Being a coffee drinker from Melbourne Australia, we loved this Melbourne inspired coffee shop in NYC. Still two months later it is the best coffee I've had since moving to the US. We also had the avocado smash for brekkie and loved it.

If you love good coffee - you won't be disappointed at bluestone lane! Great food & service also. Have been to 3 different locations across NYC of bluestone lane and was pleasantly surprised with the same quality coffee in all locations.

Their avocado toast is phenomenal. I also love that if you buy their to-go coffee cup, you get 1/2 off your drink when you bring it in!

Went on a nice walk through Central Park and ended up here for lunch! A bit of a wait for a table but the wait was worth it! The avocado toast was yummy! The chicken salad sandwich was also super yummy! The wait staff are kind with Australian accents! Service is a bit slow so don't be in a hurry!

No smiles or ‘thank you’s from the server. So no tip given. Not many pastries or options to go with the coffee. Regretted not going to another coffee shop round the corner.

Met for a quick business meeting - excellent assortment of authentic coffee options. Also - healthy breakfast options too.

This is a very small, efficient, modern architecture café. I enjoyed their iced latte; it was creamy and mild, no bitterness or acidity. They don't offer flavored syrups, so I used the simple syrup that was made available. The avocado smash on thick, whole grain toast is tasty, and made to order. If you're in the area, I definitely recommend a stop. The menu isn't as extensive as the Bluestone Lane Collective Café on Greenwich Ave, and there isn't much indoor seating; it's more of a take-out place. The service wasn't particularly friendly, but I got my tasty items to go, and savored them at a table outdoors in the sun.

The real deal when it comes to coffee. If you love your coffee, this is the place. And to make it even better the right food choices for breakfast - fresh healthy avocado smash is their signature dish. Staff very friendly, service good. Seating is available outside only. Highly recommend, the coffee alone is worth it, the bonus is the food.

I had nothing but positive experiences here. Staff were very attentive, took the time to remember who we were in a short period of time, this included what we ordered which is great considering the volume of people. I really enjoyed their Golden Turmeric Latte. I am sad we don't have a place like this where we live. Keep up the good work. If you are coming here hungry I wouldn't suggest eating here as there are little to no options at this location.

Husband and I travelled to the states for 5 weeks and we knew the coffee in general wasn’t very good, but after looking for Aussie owned cafes in New York online the bluestone cafe came up and thought we’d give it ago. We loved it! Coffee was excellent and the food was great with lots of Aussie favourites like smashed avocado and vegemite toast on sourdough. Highly recommended!

Looking for a quick breakfast and a good (Aussie) coffee one morning before a day of tourist adventures in NYC. Vegemite toast and avocado smash were both perfect, unfortunately the coffee sucked. Call me a coffee snob if you will, but I was born and raised in Sydney and the flat white at Bluestone Lane was not great. Thanks for the taste of home with the Vegemite breakfast, but sorry I can't recommend your coffee!

I loved drinking coffee in the early in the morning sitting in their outside area. They also have a hatch to order the coffee, the seating area is sunny in the morning and allows you to sit back and see the hustle and bustle of NYC life build up to the mid morning buzz...

Can only comment on the two flat whites we ordered, but they were bang on and not to mention the great service as well. It's a small Cafe with some outside seating, we hit it on a rainy day by still managed a seat with our kids inside.

I called in here knowing it was likely to offer me a coffee of similar quality to what I routinely get in Melbourne. The coffee was adequate but the music was blaring. I was the only customer in the store apart from the young bloke behind the counter talking to his mate. I very politely asked if he might turn the music down a little and he just looked at me and said no. I asked him why and he said “they don’t let us”. Piss poor and nothing like an Australian experience. We know it’s not just about the coffee.
Great Aussie style flat white coffee in New York
It's often hard to find good smooth aussie style flat white so was pleasantly surprised to find such a nice coffee within walking distance to our hotel, gladly went daily for our morning coffee during our recent stay.
