Great food and service, I will be coming back again. Ask for Robing, he was our waiter and he was so friendly and helpful. The Don Huevo dessert is AMAZING!

I have been living in the city for years and have dined at nearly every high end restaurant— Bodega Negra is 100% a waste of time. My girlfriends and I went here for a night out and had to wait over one hour before we were seated. The hostesses were flat out rude. The food was alright but compared to top other NYC restaurants, it doesn’t compare.

I went on a Sunday to this lovely restaurant located inside a hotel. There is a pool too so if you want to get in, come prepared. I do not know if there is a fee to get in because I got in for free but I have heard people do need to pay since its a hotel. Its also right next to TAO Downtown. The food here is more like finger food, and drinks. I had tacos and i got so full that I took the rest home. Quick service, is kind of in a terrace but is not a rooftop with a sick view. Would visit again.

Great cocktail list here - use the app hooch to get a deal. Order something with tequila for best results.

nicely prepared and presented food. average guac; good chips, house margs! and the tacos, shrimp and beef, WOW

Buzzy restaurant with reasonable selection of Mexican food, not that well prepared, at very high prices.

This restaurant has a lot but can improve a few things. It serves mexican food but with some sort of improvisation. we all liked it. The presentation. taste and quality was good. However, the portion size a bit smaller. Overall the experience was nice.

We had gone to the theatre and made late night reservations. I believe they are only open till 1am. We walked into an intriguing entrance into a dark and sultry place. The music was a little loud for the causal diner, but this was an experience. We were seated into a cozy booth over looking the restaurant. The cocktails were amazing! From the simple traditional Margareta to some speciality drinks... all of them tasty and well composed. The food was fresh and very tasty. I would not say it was traditional Mexican, but why would you go here and expect it? We had a few appetizers and an Amish Chicken Mole... The lobster Tacos were a hit as well as the chicken quesadilla! We had the pour over chocolate lave dessert! And it was a visual delight that was super tasty treat at the end. The clientele for a saturday was pre-club and a mix of regular folks... often people would stand up and spontaneously begin to dance to the music... Many were dressed to impress... like I said... it looked like they were heading clubbing after! I would go again... it was a visual and culinary feast!

I went with my best friends to celebrate our bday in NY and this place came highly recommended! It didn't disappoint one bit! We loved it, the food was impeccable, the music was great, the ambiance was super! But mostly our waiter was the best, he was super accommodating and nice. Really a great place.

I have been couple of time for a business meal. My favourite dishes are the quesadillas omg unbelievable. Plenty of of frozen margaritas to choose, the staff is lovely and Ana always treat us amazingly.

I grabbed breakfast at Bodega Negra. The staff was very friendly. The place was pretty busy but they were able to provide quick service to those who needed it without sacrificing service to the rest of us. The items were fresh and delicious.

This restaurant is a "must go to" place for us. Robin and the other staff members make it well worth it. The food is amazing - get the guacamole if you are a fan of guac. The tacos are great - the RIBS are to die for...and the dessert is a MUST SEE. Get there and enjoy the dark, sexy atmosphere - and look at the "penny covered" sphere in the middle of the room.

Bodega Negra is tucked away in the trendy and popular Dream Hotel. The menu is upscale and somewhat creative, but it’s so overpriced - two tacos could run you around $20. $10 a taco?? No thank you. Also the service here can be a little rude and snobby. Good place to people watch - lots of fashionable, good looking types come here but really you’re just paying for ambiance. I much prefer the pool area at this hotel in the summertime if I want to have a drink at the establishment.

A weekend in NYC led some friends and myself to Bodega Negra and we greatly enjoyed it. The food was very good, drinks very strong and tasty and the service was on point (shout out to Othniel). I enjoyed the DJ spinning tunes while we ate and honestly can’t find one complaint about this place. Things to try... quesadillas, green rice, plantains, veggie tacos, enchiladas all amazingly tasty! And make sure you top it all off with dessert- the Don Huevo!!!

I went there last night with a group of friends. The restaurant looks nice but we experienced the worst service ever. Plenty of people pouring water but lack of server bringing food. We waited for our drinks 20 minutes, plates arrived cold to the table. We complained, the manager came to the table promissing they were remaking the plates, while they warmed up with the microwave... Very poor experience over-rated

Staying at the Dream hotel it would be rude not to attend the in house upmarket Mexican! We arrived the night after Halloween and the place was all still day of the dead with added creepy circus performers. Great vibe in the place and very atmospheric but also very difficult to read the menu. Mobile phone light later we were in business. Shared a guacamole dip starter followed by a fantastic skirt steak fajitas. Washed down by some margaritas. All in all a great first night but really not cheap. $200 plus and we returned for a couple of drinks the following. Went to their bar and was shocked at the prices for even a couple of drinks and I am used to London. Def worth a visit but bring your wallet!

loveeed this restaurant. atmosphere of gastro-bar. great food. great coctails and dont forget to take a selfie with the sombrero hats!

I ate here while staying at the hotel next door. Great food that is interesting. I hate paying for food I feel like I could cook at home. This is definitely not the case with Bodega Negra.

This is a nice environment. Very overrated... prices don’t match the quality or service. Very disappointing. It’s extremely basic Mexican food.

The food was amazing and the waiter was very knowledgeable and friendly. I went there for my birthdays and I couldn’t have asked for a better place.

Was staying at dream so decided to have dinner here one evening. Awesome tacos and get the famous ice cream desert with the melted chocolate!

To be honest, I was pretty skeptical of the quality of food given that this restaurant was in the heart of the Meatpacking District and I thought would be more focused on the "scene" than the food. However, I was pleasantly surprised with the food, service, and service. The taco appetizers were fresh and perfect to share between two people especially because they come with both chicken and vegetarian friendly. The vegetables enchiladas were average- too saucy and cheesy so would not recommend that as an entrée. The Don Huevo dessert is the star of the show and probably one of the most instagrammed food item. Fortunately, the taste lived up to my expectation. It is on the sweet side and is really large so you can share this dessert with the whole table. It was on the pricier side given the location but wasn't anything too expensive- a meal for two people with drinks and dessert (the Don Huevo dessert was $16 alone) was about $100.

Simple, delicious Mexican food for day or night! Was very easy to access from the DREAM hotel, and very lovely staff.

We stayed at the dream hotel for 5 days, which I will do a separate honest review about, and had been recommended to try the Mexican restaurant Bodega Negra...I’ll be honest,by the time we arrived,we had all been pretty fed up off the service we had received in the hotel and the roof top bar and expected things to be the same at the restaurant,we were wrong !! In fact it’s this particular restaurant that has pretty much saved our entire holiday, with the excellent service we received once we told management of our poor experience at the hotel.Orran farmer and Jonathan our waiter, went out of their way to make sure we all left with smiles on our faces, food was EXCELLENT,as so was the service. We chose steak tacos and ribs,beautiful...Orran,the manager, also made it a point to send a beautiful dessert personality over to our table and expressed his sincere apologies for having had such a negative experience at the hotel...Thank you Orran and Jonathan, thank you for giving us such a fantastic experience and taking care of us....

went on a monday. dark. good music. and nice atmosphere, great bar area with stool or small booths while waiting for a table. had the ribs , lobster tacos, soft shell crab tacos and guac. and shaved brussel sprouts. rec all 5 items. especially the ribs and soft shell crab tacos. had a blackberry magarita off menu which was great as well. dj and lounge atmosphere starts at 10PM. packed bar area when I left. who are all these people out on a monday night?!?

Atmosphere was so sexy and fun. The staff was lovely and the DJ (a female) was doing her thing our entire dining experience. The food was delicious. I really loved the guac and skirt steak tacos. We loved the delicious Margarita pitcher. I cannot wait to go back!

My boyfriend and I took my mom there for her 52nd birthday. THE BEST Hotel Dining Experience I ever had. My party was running 20 minutes late so I waited at the bar & had an amazing blackberry mojito. Once everyone was there, we were seated instantly. Our waitress Marisa walked us the through the menu and made sure our every need was anticipated. We had fried shrimp, tuna and beef tacos- all of which was on point/delicious! The DJ played great music all night. I wanted to note the manager Jericho was great. He stopped by to chat and see how service was going serveral times throughout the night & also made great drink and dessert recommendations. He brought out my moms surprise birthday white Chocolate fudge cake (which was to die for!) I can’t wait for the next personal event or work outting just so I can go back!

First of all, our waiter was EXCELLENT- I hate to not give that part some credit. The atmosphere and ambiance were truly great. However, everything else was pretty bad. The $18 drinks had little to no alcohol in them, way too much ice, and no flavor! The guacamole was decent, but spicy without having warned us of that. The chips were WAY too salty. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and main courses- all were mediocre. The tuna ceviche, duck tacos- were just a few of the things we were really looking forward to that disappointed. The MOST disappointing item on the menu was the corn salad- it was inedible actually. The "famous" dessert was nothing special- super cool presentation, but its flavor was lacking major. Maybe an off night? But sorry, not impressed.

When my fiancé mentioned going to Bodega Negra for New Years Eve I must admit I was a bit skeptical. We never been and although we heard only great feedback on a busy night like that you worry you would get the best service ! Well they broke all the stereotypes that night ! The music , the atmosphere, the food and drinks were all exceptional! We did the pre fix menu for the night and the open bar package ! Their open bar comes with all of their signature cocktails available to you I was so shocked of the selections from bourbon to vodka or tequila whatever your preferences were they had a drink for you ! Our waiter made sure our glasses were never empty and made sure to make suggestions as well . The had love dancers which kept the party going . Around 11:30 they were handing out champagne , hats and crowns to bring in the New Year it was awesome ! The pomegranate guacamole was exceptionally tasty and when we ran out of chips they just brought us more instead of taking away. That’s an a plus plus in my book lol ! We will for sure be back in the very near future ! Thank you for making our first experience memorable!

Food was great, so tasty and the atmosphere was trendy. It is a place you can go out with a group of friends or have a date night. I recommend the street corn. Soooo good!

Food was expensive and small portioned. Didn't seem to be made there - seemed as if it was coming from another kitchen and just heated up. The grilled fish tacos were our favorite. LOVED the dessert. The restaurant was extremely loud.

Bodega negra is a must go to restaurant in the chelsea/meat packing district. Its located at the dream hotel so it has a more young environment but the restaurant is an upscaled one. The food is delicious specially the guacamole and the corn on the cob. The drinks are great. I asked the bartender for a drink since I wanted something different than what was offered on the menu. He just asked what I liked and made me a delicious citrus gin drink. Definitely a must go if you are in town!

Found this cosy intimate place, and sat in the bar area. Was greeted by Joaquin, what an incredible warm, attentive mixologist. Made our time here a real delight. Drinks were delicious, food goodness gorgeous and Bruno was a wonderful waiter. Yes this place is a gem . The food. drinks and warm customer service is a treat and made our time delightful.

I went there for a birthday and the place look really nice bodega negra margaritas ufff really good a pitcher start at $68 but food wise to expensive and not worth the money and is you order a steak or a plate doesn't come with a side you need to add a side so my plate was $42 plus another $7

Went here for a date night recently and expectations fell a bit short, mainly due to the service. Our waitress greeted us, took our order, dropped our first drink and we did not see her again until she picked up our bill just in time to show face again before a tip. We did not get our water refilled until I flagged someone down to ask. It was very disappointing from a service perspective. The ambiance of the restaurant has a fun vibe, a bit of dark lighting and funky decor. The crowd ranged from casual to semi-dressed. Guacamole app was delicious. For tacos, steak was a 10 but the lobster was not overly impressive as I was not a big fan of the brothy sauce/garnish. My tuna steak entree with pineapple salsa was very good and a nice portion with a side of small taco shells. The dessert presentation is very fun, and the rich chocolate cake was amazing. Not running back here for a second visit, but happy to have checked it out.

We came for an intimate birthday dinner and it happened to be on Dia de los Muertos so it was decorated beautifully(I’m sure it is any other time as well) ended up sitting at the table with Amy Winehouse photo which I loved since I was a fan of hers. Food was amazing, service was great. Only downside was they were out of prosecco but I think they have early Sunday brunch which makes sense. Other than that we were satisfied with everything and had a great time

The food was AMAZING great place for drinks and food the atmosphere was great music was awesome great date night or just out for dinner and drinks recommended highly

First time here yesterday with a group of friends- awesome vibes, music and food. Attached to the Dream Hotel. Classic Mexican cuisine but with some added flair to the menu and different flavors. The table service was fast and attentive. They have plenty of vegetarian options! Drinks are strong too. I recommend the roasted corn salad (cold) guac, green rice and red sangria. Overall great night.

Surprisingly mundane. Limited menu. Nice ambiance. Food unimpressive. Service unremarkable. For the price, would go elsewhere.

We went here for Dinner and had a fantastic time. The food was amazing and the restaurant is really beautiful (if a bit dark). Highly recommended.

Excellent food and service, ordered the sample plates that had all the appetizers and chop salad then that awesome desert white chocolate that has a caramel poured on it followed by cappuccino.

Celebrated our daughter's birthday at Bodega over dinner. Had an awesome time. Great tacos, drinks, and Mexican fare. Blood orange Paloma was lovely. Great service with attention to details. Some jalapenos in the 'jalapenos Rellenos' can be really hot, so be forewarned; nevertheless tasty. Pricing: on the higher side. Come on guys. This is NYC and owned by the Tao group. Just enjoy! Noise level: increases as guests start imbibing. Ambiance: perfect

Went with coworkers during restaurant week. The pre fixed menu was $42 dollars for an appetizer entree and dessert which was reasonably priced. Usually the entree only is $42, which is a bit pricey as the portion is was smaller than expected. Nevertheless the food is very delicious and the service was quality. The steak was delicious and the churro so with chocolate syrup for dessert was amazing. I honestly forgot what I ordered for an appetizer but I remember it being very good as well. If you are looking to eat delicious for a bit more money, this place is a great choice, definitely delicious and would definitely come back for a special occasion.

From the moment you enter the beautiful double doors you are greeted by a beautiful friendly staff. Then seated in a room of who’s who’s, full of energy and an ambiance of friends laughing, couples chatting and great vibes. Food was absolutely delicious with authentic Mexican flavors mixed in with current themes. Isabelle, our waitress was alert and friendly, navigating us select the best dishes for our needs from the menu and always checking back in to ensure we were having a great experience. Bussers kept table clean and orderly.
Bodega Negra Dinner
Had a great time. Everyone was welcoming and attentive. Food was amazing as well as the drinks. Will definately be returning.
