Stopped for a coffee the other morning. Friendly and efficient, and in a land of bad coffee, it was at least drinkable.

Love this local Mediterranean spot. Food is consistently good--bread and olives, mezze or Shepard salad and consistently good little lamb chops at a great price. Other meat or fish main courses may be the weakest. But the pizza's from the brick oven are first rate. Go on Monday for 1/2 price bottles of very drinkable wine.

This restaurant was a great meal. I was here with my fiancé for date night. We sat outside and the service was incredible. The mushroom pizza was thin crust and delicious, but the "MOUSSAKA" main course stole the meal.

Been here twice in the last month. First time we ordered amazing Turkish dishes including the Manti appetizer (lamb dumplings with yogurt), and two entrees: Chicken Adana shish kebab and oven roasted half chicken. The appetizer and two entrees were excellent. Service was very friendly and efficient. In our second visit we had their pizza with lamb meatball. Although good, it couldn't compare to the quality of the Turkish entrees we had on our first visit. My recommendation is to go for their authentic Turkish cooking, but if you are looking for pizza go elsewhere....

I've been going to this restaurant for many years, and it only gets better. The food is delicious, healthy, wonderful, whether I'm having tasty lamb dishes, turkish moussaka, stuffed cabbage, or one of the delicious pizzas. The mezzes are a standout--can make a great dinner out of them (and especially if you're a vegetarian). They will accommodate you--I've asked them to tweak my pizza so I get everything I want on it, even if it's not on the menu. Owner Hussein is a great person, welcoming you. Yesterday it was hot and humid; I wanted just labne (the best I've ever had) and shepherd's salad (again, the best, full of sumac), and a special martini-like Margherita (lots of lime, no salt, no sugar, just a drop of liquer). Best summer meal! I'll try to post a picture.

Wife and I went for lunch. We enjoyed everything, from the delicious bread to the filo and cheese appetizer to the Mediterranean pizza, which we shared. Service was very good. Ambiance was fair because of the closeness of the tables. The menu was large and prices were reasonable.

Food is always so fresh and delicious. We have visited the restaurant many times throughout the years and have ordered in and have never been disappointed. A wonderful, delicious, friendly neighborhood gem. The entire team is always so welcoming and helpful. Perfect experience. And now during the pandemic, it is definitely the cleanest restaurant we have visited. Everything from cutlery to tables, to food, to masks and gloves is strictly kept according to CDC guidance. We cannot thank Bodrum enough for being so responsible, delicious, safe and fan especially during these gloomy times.

After having lunch here once before we had dinner here with another couple. The place is pretty basic and does pizza, although we did not have any. The service was friendly and attentive. The food terrific. We ate family style with two entrees (a fish and a beef kabob) between us and a large mediterranean salad, lots of great fresh bread and one of our favorites, Labne (a yogurt based sauce). We ordered a bottle of Shiraz wine and after ordering discovered that Monday night is half price wine night. Very good wine and incredible price. A really nice place to go to again and again.

This place serves Mediterranean food with a Turkish accent and does a great job of it. We started out with three of their appetizer spreads with delicious warm bread and it was just wonderful. I had striped bass and the others had beef cheeks and lamb stew served in a clay pot. The three of us went through two bottles of excellent red wine - ask the owner to recommendations; he knows what he's doing. The waiter was a lot of fun and the place was buzzing with all sorts of people. Best meal in NYC on this visit.

We went here late on a Saturday night. Definitely get a reservation through open table or by calling ahead as it does get busy. Now that the sidewalk seating is not available because of the cold weather, there are less tables but the food it still great. We had the Mezz platter for three of us and loved sampling all the different items. The Lamb Tagine and Steak Kabob were great and the baklava dessert was perfect. Highly recommend trying here for dining in or delivery.

This busy, little Turkish restaurant on Amsterdam Ave. is a gem of a place to run into from the pouring rain. As was the case for us recently. We were made welcome immediately and offered service quickly even though the place was extremely busy. We had some delicious humous and bread , a pizza, a chicken kebab that was incredibly tender and tasty. A couple of other side dishes too. It was great value for money for food of good quality. We will be back there in a day or two for sure.

Well prepared Mediterranean food with a Turkish accent and a wide range of pizzas are what draws in a steady clientele for lunch (with more than a few moms and kids) and dinner. A destination? Probably not, but a great asset for the neighborhood if you are looking for good food decently priced and thoughtfully served.

I went with my wife and two friends -- they had been several times, for us it was a first. The first courses (the four of us shared five) were more than satisfactory; the entrees (we had branzino in a bed of fennel) were excellent; the dessert (rice pudding) was very tasty. No complaints about the service. However, unless one had mastered sign language and/or lip reading it was virtually impossible to hear anyone else at the table -- and we had been placed in what we were told was the quietest corner of the restaurant!

I live in the neighborhood and this has become my restaurant of choice (maybe I'm unwise to be telling you all about it lest it be overrun by customers, but you all have shared a lot of good tips so I want to reciprocate!) The pizzas are delicious, the kebabs are excellent and the Turkish flat bread is not only the best flat bread, but probably the best bread period that I have ever eaten in a restaurant. Great babaganoush too. The Shiraz I had was also very very good. Go early to get a seat outside as it fills up fast on the weekends. I was surprised to see that other reviewers felt this place is pricey - I actually think for the quality it compares very well to other NYC restaurants, not sure what that's all about.

When I saw shakshuka (eggs poached in a tomato-based sauce) on the menu, I knew I'd found the right place for brunch. Well-prepared Turkish dishes with fresh ingredients, reasonable prices, lots of outdoor seating. Pairs well on a Sunday morning with a visit to the Museum of Natural History and a stroll through Central Park.

We have eaten here several times, for dinner weeknights/weekends, and lunch as well. Yes, it is dark at night, and the tables are close together (but not more than most other NY places)--the bread is delicious and the entrees are generally good, especially the lamb dishes. Last night we sent back one salad (so doused in vinegar it was inedible), and the Manti dumpling appetizer was gummy and was not eaten. They gave us a complimentary dessert, chocolate caramel cake, that was tasty. Lastly, try not to sit under the speakers, the music last night was bad middle eastern disco.

I spend two times with friends here and all of them world travelers who agreed with me that the food was exceptional.

A tasty, locally popular Mediterranean restaurant which good food and service at comfortable prices. We had the lamb tangine and lamb shank.

have enjoyed their food on two occasions; once as take out and once dining with friends. The smoky baba ganoush is great; have had two of their lamb dishes (kebab and lamb chops) both seasoned and prepared very well (prefer the lamb chops). the lamb chops were served with rice and fennel. the cauliflower side was tasty. dining companions had the salmon and the stuffed cabbage-and enjoyed them both. the fresh baked bread is delicious. when we were seated were served 5 olives for 4 people along with the wonderful bread. service initially was good, but as the meal progressed became somewhat inattentive. had a little unusual experience with our reservation, which was honored promptly, but the hostess suggested we wait a few minutes for a nicer table outside, which we did. unfortunately the occupiers of our table to be stayed on long after their check was paid; so after waiting for 20 minutes, the restaurant staff seated us at a different table. would go back.

I went here with my family for Sunday brunch. The city seemed unusually quiet, but I guess even in the city that never sleeps, Sunday starts slowly. The restaurant filled up around us, but I never felt crowded or overwhelmed by other diners or noise. The service was attentive from the first moment to the last. The menu had enough choices for meat eaters and vegetarians and we took advantage of the diversity. No skimping on these plates. Each dish was a full and tasty meal and priced quite nicely.

We had a nice dinner here in Manhattan, were our friends live just down the street from Bodrum. We had a very nice variety of food, all that was good. I would recommend checking this local place out. Be sure you go to the bathroom prior to going to eat. Getting in to the bathroom can be a problem.

Good Turkish/ Mediterranean cuisine in a relaxed setting. Wood oven and great bread is a definite plus. One of our 'go-to' places for lunch.

the service here was some of the best we had in New York not in your face but very pleasant and attentive the food was very good I had the lamb tagine and my wife had the mossaka both very tasty a couple of glasses of very nice wine and a dessert to share excellent fare all round,

I went with a group of 8. We had some delicious pizza, hummus, and baba ganoush. the restaurant was small. It could be open to the sidewalk and made for a nice, open air setting. The service was excellent.

We had a light dinner here at 8pm on a weeknight. The weather was perfect and the restaurant was open to the street, although we sat "inside." The hummus and pita bread are so good! I've never had such great pita bread. We shared a kabob, which was a healthy choice. I found the chicken a little well done, but my husband said it was perfect. We had a wonderful red wine with it all, and it was a wonderful place to be able to visit with our friends.

Great dips (especially the labne) and manti. Delicious fresh bread. Good flatbreads and kebabs. Something for the whole family.

Well worth the trip. Lamb Tagine stole the show for me. The lamb melted in my mouth. This fell between a 4-5 for me. The two other dishes we ordered were good, but didn't blow me away. Above average for sure, and I'd go again. Good for date (That was what I was on), and good for family/social. Note: The chicken looked fantastic, and we noticed many people had ordered that. I'd get that as a dish next time along with the lamb tangine

Everything we ate in this restaurant was delicious. I arrived before my friends & ordered the appetizer sampler--it took all my self control to leave some for them to eat! It didn't help that the waitress kept bringing hot-from-the-oven bread that I used to eat the sampler with. We had the moussaka, which was deconstructed so don't expect the usual recipe, the chicken sis kebab and the fish tangine, all full of flavor. Very friendly wait staff in this small restaurant that is warmed by the oven. I highly recommend eating here!

Love this place. Been going for a number of years, and it's my home away from home, as well as the place I always take out of town friends. The owner (Hussein) is almost always there and is a jewel. The staff is friendly, the vibe relaxed, the food great. Lebne is the best I've had; turkish patican (eggplant/tomatoes), delish. Best lentil soup ever. Everything I've eaten is good--from the superb brick oven pizza to beyti kabab (lamb), stuffed cabbage (stuffed with lamb and rice--not your Jewish mama's kind, but just as good!). The food is so well prepared, as well as tasty. Good place to go as a couple, with family, with friends, or even by yourself (a single woman is treated just as well).

I debated, four blobs or five, and ended up at five (only just though). So, the food is very good, proper Turkish not Americanised (well I didn’t try the Pizza so that might be a US style Pizza rather than a Pide), the prices are good too. We were seated promptly, order taken quickly and some splendid bread and olives came quickly. We could see fresh bread being baked so things were looking good. Mezze came quickly and mains were timely too.. But after that service ground to a halt. I suspect the reason was a lot of customers asking for explanations of the dishes, but simply taking a coffee order and delivering coffee took an age (the regular coffee is $2.50 and not great value at that price). So, overall, great food, great prices, half great service... but a nice sunny day so I rounded up to 5 blobs.

The staff could have been a little more attentive but they weren't terrible. First of all the fresh sesame bread here was very good. We asked for seconds. Love the olive oil with olives they provided instead of butter. Here is what we ate: Artichoke pizza- the pizza was excellant. Very thin and crispy, dough was great, fresh tomato sauce. THe artichokes were marinated and not fresh. Crispy calimari - uninteresting. Nothing special about this. Moussaka - a little mushy and not that flavorful Turkish sis kabab- the lamb was cooked perfectly and loved the veggies that came with which were seasoned nicely.

Panini is the plural for panino. That distinction is not often made on American menus for most of the time. At Bodrum they make that distinction and call it "Classic Panino", which is appropriate. Now the question becomes, is it a classic Italian or Turkish panino and will they use focaccia or ciabatta bread and what will the flavors be like? The classic Italian one is with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, and basil, olive oil. The Turkish version from the menu is the same or is it? Served on fluffy homemade warm bread, no indication which kind of bread, it turns out to be simply delicious with some unique flavors for such a simple dish. Every dish coming out of the kitchen looked simple, delicious and healthy as the aromas wavered through the establishment. This place is cozy, service quick and professional. I will go back to try some of their true Turkish dishes and will get the Mediterranean flavors from the Turkish Kebabs to the brick oven pizza. As I have been the beneficiary of a lot of Turkish hospitality over the years during my visits to Turkey, I tasted some of that ancient culture at Bodrum.

We managed to get a table here on the night before Thankgiving holiday but we were lucky as the restaurant was absolutely packed to the gunnels - we only came across the place by chance so hadn't made advance reservations. We didn't have an appetiser and both chose the Beyti Kebab which was not a huge portion but was really very good. I have to say that although we didn't try them that the pizzas also looked very good and the brick oven gave the place a warm atmosphere on a chilly evening. The service was very attentive and the Turkish flat bread was yummy! There was a pretty good wine list and a tried a nice white rioja which was just the job. To finish off I tried the baklava which was good and husband had ice cream - he said that he thought the vanilla ice cream was over sweet - but that it being really picky! Would certainly come back here again on our next visit to New York so that says it all.

We went to Bodrum 2 weeks ago for brunch and it was a real let down. My girl got the Turkish scrambled eggs with feta, dill, tomatoes, scallions, and grilled pita, and I got the Yesil Salad which has lettuce, black olives, dill, scallions, cucumbers and feta with a lemon vinaigrette. The most disappointing part was the eggs. About 3 bites in my girl got a crunch; yep...a big piece of egg shell. She searched around a bit and found a few more pieces as well. Rather revolting. Additionally, based on the menu description, we thought the vegetables would be mixed into the eggs, but it was all placed on top like a small salad. The raw scallions and were a bit overpowering in my opinion and would have probably benefited from being cooked a bit with the egg mixture. Just a personal preference I suppose. As for my salad, it was a real yawner. The lettuce was limp and old, the vinagrette was weak and they put just a few crumbs of feta on top. It just wasn't interesting to eat. Bodrum has that awesome brick oven inside, so their baked stuff is usually great. But in the few times we've gone, everything else has been really hit and miss, including the service. Can't recommend them for anything aside from the baked goods really.

I was lured into the place as the manager said there was Happy Hour. I had to wait for 30 minutes to get a drink although the place was at 25% capacity. The food was very average for Turkish and extremely small in quantity. I was finally charged my full glass and the manager refused to connect. She walked away. The entire experience was dissapointing

Between 4 and 5 stars but giving it 5 because it is one of our favorites in our neighborhood. Not worth a detour but a good choice if you are nearby.

Service here is horrible. Flat out. BEWARE IF YOU HAVE ALLERGIES! They won't accommodate! I ordered a $130 order for delivery and very clearly marked on all the items that everything needed to be 100% gluten free, as I have a very severe gluten allergy (Celiac Disease). I nicely asked in the order if the dips (hummus, babaganoush, etc). could come with sliced vegetables instead of pita bread. After placing the order I received a call from the restaurant saying that "we can't give you vegetables with the dips, regardless of whether we give you pita." When I asked why I was told that it was "company policy". I explained that I wasn't asking for the swap out of preference but dietary necessity and if they could please just swap the two. I was nastily told that they could not and that if I wanted to get vegetables I would have to pay an additional cost. I asked to speak with the manager I was told that I was speaking with the manager and that the "owner wouldn't care". When I asked why they couldn't accommodate she simply said it was because they "didn't want to incur the extra cost" (but it was okay for them to not give me the pita, therefore saving them the pita to use for another customer, and therefore saving them a cost). In 20 years of have Celiac's Disease and being gluten free, I have never had a restaurant tell me that they couldn't swap one thing out for another for no reason other than cost. What a disgrace, especially with the number of people with food allergies today. I continued to ask her to accommodate my request, even telling her that I live in the neighborhood and have been a customer before but she would lose me as a customer forever going forward and she didn't care. She told me "fine you don’t have to come here, you can cancel your order if you want, I don’t care." I told her that if I cancelled my order tonight, I would never come back and would write a review online of my experience and she told me "fine go ahead". I was shocked. For a restaurant to not even care about negative online reviews and losing a repeat customers was astonishing to me and showed an utter arrogance on the part of this manager. I will never go back to this restaurant again and would not recommend anyone with an allergy to ever step foot in here.

I'll preface this by saying I am not a huge fan of Turkish cuisine; with that I will say we were pleasantly surprised with both the choices and the food overall. A sampling of dips with a never ending supply of wonderful bread was very good. Fortunately they have a variety of Americanized foods for very picky eaters like one of my kids! So personal sized pizza was a hit. I had a very flavor filled but dry chicken dish that was a little disappointing but all of the other meals were very good. Leave room for dessert! we samples several that were fantastic. We were there for lunch and sat outside so other than the waiters reaching over my shoulder we were not too crowded but a glance inside made me claustrophobic...looks way too tight. The service is excellent; we recommend Bodrum and will return.

On Christmas Eve, we decided to visit here with friends. None of us had eaten here before. What a lovely little place! We ordered dolma, lebne, salad, kababs, and other lamb dishes. Everything we had was wonderful! You cannot go wrong here with the food. Their bread and olive oil is to die for. My son's cell needed a charge and they even did that. The only thing that was a bit odd was that I called ahead for a lunch reservation and instead of taking it, the person on the other end began questioning me about whether I we were going to show up or not. She said that some people make reservations and then don't keep them. She wondered if we were sure. That is the only reason they didn't get 5 stars from me. I was made to feel unwelcome on the phone. HOWEVER. Don't let that stop you from going here. The food is very good and very reasonable.

We ate here on a very busy Labor Day evening. Everything was just great. We had a 7:45pm reservation which they honored immediately even though the restaurant was crowded and there was a line of people waiting to get in. I had manti to start followed by lamb sis kebab. My wife had a small shepherd's salad followed by the meze plate. Everything was quite wonderful. The manti was better than a lot I have eaten in Turkey. The lamb was as good as I have ever tasted...beautifully seasoned and perfectly cooked. The portions were large. Don't get me started on the fresh baked bread...it comes to you right out of the oven and is delicious. And the service was extraordinary. Our waitress was pretty much perfect...very attentive and responsive but not intrusive. Prices are reasonable. Everything about our meal was hard to beat. The restaurant serves Turkish food, and although it is not what you would consider a pizza restaurant, it does offer a long list of wood-fire cooked pizzas.

To start our group had pilaki, shepherd salad, mucver, manti, & Sigara Borek which were all very tasty. Two ordered the lamb kebab (good), one order the lamb shank (very good) and two ordered the grilled lamb chops (it was a lamb night). While the lamb chops were a bit overcooked from the medium rare we requested, they were still tasty! We would return and repeat some menu items and try some others!

We stumbled across this restaurant whilst wandering in the neighbourhood one night (our hotel was near). It was cold outside and this place looked really cosy. There was a short queue for a table once we got inside but we didn't wait longer than a few minutes to be seated. There is an open wood pizza oven and the heat from that was very welcome. It's a small, cosy venue with a lot of tables in a small space but we didn't feel too overwhelmed by this. I'm not sure I would think the same if I was going for a romantic meal though. The staff were attentive and helpful when asked about the menu. We had a sharing mezze platter to start and our waiter was really good explaining what everything was and what it was made of...and we didn't even ask him! Lovely bread handed out freely too. The portion sizes were just right for us...not too big but we were fully satisfied. We had three courses each with a couple of glasses of wine and it came to about $90 (£60) which we thought was pretty reasonable. Overall, if were back in the neighbourhood again, we would definitely return.

Enjoyed the food at Bodrum and the service was quite good as well. Lots of good menu choices served quickly.

After standing for 10 minutes and being ignored we finally grabbed a waiter who led us inside the restaurant to wait for another person, who was on the phone. Finally we were given a table but told we must be out within 90 minutes. We then sat and waited to be served. My partner ordered a bottle of wine and I was then asked what I wanted to drink! We noted the wait staff congregated in a corner of the restaurant up to six at time chatting. We then had to signal to ask for bread and after some flurry of action, the bread arrived before the bread plate. When the meal arrived it was good. So the chef can be complimented! However, the waiters who earlier were nowhere to be seen, now descended upon us to whip the plates away before the meal was finished. After, yet another lull in the service, we again signalled across the floor to request the dessert menu. We then waited to give our order... Only to again be offered the dessert menu. The dessert arrived without cutlery. At last the meal was complete... The plates removed... And this was when spoons were put on our table. They helpfully provided three options for the gratuity, which I guess helps the less numerate tipper! And demonstrates their misplaced optimism.

We enjoyed our dinner at Bodrum. We sat inside as it was too humid outside. The tables are on the small side and close to each other, but the food makes up for this. Fresh hot pita with olives in olive oil are brought to table right away: very tasty. We shared a shepherds salad with feta, which was delicious. For main course, we had the chicken Adana and the moussaka: both were excellent. We were too full for desert, hopefully next time! All in all, this is a welcoming restaurant with delicious menu choices.

Place is always full All types of Mediterranean cuisine… Nice menu Favorites are the zucchini pancakes… Actually have decent pizza… Lots of meat and chicken options that are nice

We've done take-out from Bodrum many times, but this was our first experience dining in. The Adana Kebab was delicious, as is the Karides Guvec. Great service, pleasant atmosphere.

I have been there many times, with friends, gf, never been disappointed. There are making their own bread, the sample plate to share is amazing ! Definitely worth it ! The pizza are thin and crispy, the meat dishes are so tasty, everything is fabulous there ! I really recommend this place. And for sure the service is perfect. Good job guys ! Thomas

After an hour perusing restaurant menus on line for recommended restaurants in the neighborhood where were staying (upper West Side), my teenage traveling companions and I agreed on Bodrums. I was happy with their Mediterranean options - the girls were happy with the "gourmet" pizzas. And the ambiance was cozy, the service excellent.

Can't say enough positive things about this place. Pizza is off the charts delicious, turkish fare is yummy- Kebabs are melt in your mouth fabulous.

Nice upper west side neighborhood Mediterranean restaurant, loved the food, service also friendly. Tables are close to each other, quite noisy, but also lively and warm. Loved the salad, fish tajine and bread with olives. Full bodied Shiraz good accompaniment. Would recommend for friends and families who love Turkish and Mediterranean.

We enjoyed our lunch at this quaint, warm restaurant . the waiters were nice and efficient. The Dolmas were really good as was the mushroom pizza .Maybe it's cultural, but would have preferred not hearing about draining abscesses, while eating grape leaf rolls (dolmas). The two women I am referring to, seemed not to have seen each other in a few months , said woman seemed to be a celebrity here, being in the dental business for so long, it doesn't bother me to hear of this while eating, but I am sure other patrons weren't as thrilled . Save that for a phone conversation home! Other than the conversation, everything was tasty . I would eat here again .

If all you order here are the humous and baba ganoush with their wonderful bread you'll be in heaven. But we also had their pizzas which are thin and crisp and delicious. The classic pizzas were great, but so was the pear, gorgonzola, and arugula pizza! The rice pudding was yummy, but the strawberry cake had frozen strawberries on top so it was unappealing. Aside from that, it was a lovely dinner and you can't beat these prices in NYC!

I can't remember ever eating at a Turkish/Mediterranean restaurant before. I'm glad that we tried Bodrum - it was a nice change of pace. To start, service was friendly. We enjoyed the bread, especially when eaten with the appetizers. Appetizers were very nicely flavored. The braised leeks were not what I expected but still tasted good. For entrees, the kids had pizzas which were a decent size. The adults both had lamb dishes which were cooked to perfection. They were incredibly tender. Also, the Turkish rice was something that I've never had before - I'm not sure how it is prepared but it was a wonderful accompaniment. The prices were very fair and a good value. I would definitely recommend trying this place at least once.

Nice service, good selection of Mediterranean items and good Turkish wine. Kind of pricey, but, an interesting change from the usual Italian fare. Upper West Side is is great family location!

overall it's great. I ate greek moussaka and otherwise, soo nice. if I visit to NYC,I wanna visit there again! thanks for good time and good meals.

Always good food at a reasonable price. I’ve been here for dinner and brunch many times. The pizza and lamb shank are excellent.

Bodrum is a great little restaurant. Many interesting menu choices. The appetizers and main courses that my wife and I enjoyed at our recent visit were great. This restaurant is not very expensive and provides very good value. Also, I must eat gluten free and they have many selections that met my needs. The only negative is that this restaurant is small and the tables are very close together, so you do have to contend with other people's conversations. Not a place a romantic dinner, but a definitely a very good choice for a good meal and interesting food.

Good quality food at reasonable prices. Efficient staff and pleasant. Recommend this restaurant and will certainly go back.

We have now eaten there and taken out food at least four times the last month, since we basically lived across the street the last month. The babaganoush is the best I ever had. It has this yummy smokey flavor. So good. And their bread is fantastic and go so well with the babaganoush. The chicken kebab is also wonderfull and most of the dishes are, but not the one with Turkish meatballs and bread in tomato sauce. Stay away from that one.

We've had late lunch on last weekend August 30th. We've sat on the outside due to the situations of COVD~19 .. It was great! Releasable to fill up our tummy. Service was great! Clean and the best is yummy! I would love to go back.

I've eaten tons of Turkish food and I am a Turkish person. I've eaten turkish food in Turkey, Germany, France and my mothers turkish food. In Turkey not alot of things beat your mothers cooking. It's almost sacred in a way. This expression applies to all oriental countries and probably alot of other countries aswell. When I had dinner at Bodrum in 2013 (sorry for the long wait before the review) with my GF, we ordered in most of the classical dishes I remember from my childhood. All of them were excellent, some even BETTER than my mothers version. The seasoning was spot on, the spices used were exemplary for the choice of food and all done in accordance to tradition. They had great service, great cookery, great selection of wines and beer(Note: I collect rare beers and wines. I can attest to the quality they purchase since I work with wine everyday at a winemerchant). Of course restaurants have bad days and you might not experience what I did. Consistency of quality is of course a key factor in every restaurant. Therefor i recommend this restaurant to anyone who is in the neighborhood and that wants to try out an authentic turkish restaurant. Kind regards

Eclectic menu with excellent moussaka, a dish I had given up on years ago because it was so mediocre at restaurants we have visited. At Bodrum it was a down to earth feast.bThe lamb dishes are terrific, pizza delicious. A great discovery.

We came to Bodrum for a celebration dinner for my husband, along with our daughter and son-in-law. We started with the sampling plate, and a melted cheese plate, which were brought with spears of crusty bread. The sampler was mostly things that you dip into, so another time I would ask also for flat bread, and for my own needs if there was a gluten-free alternative dipper. For entrees, we ordered Lamb tagine, braised lamb shank, and wood-oven roasted half chicken. All were delicious. The chicken was the larger plate, ideal for my tall SIL. I had about a third of my tagine cartoned, as I was satisfied and full, and it was good cold on the airplane the next day. The service was perfect, attentive but unobtrusive. I established that the young man hanging out near our table was there waiting for our order. He was not chatting or being obnoxious, I just had to ask him if he was our waiter. He was very sweet. We are accustomed, in our trips to New York, for many of the restaurants to have small tables closely packed. This was the case here, though not nearly as tightly packed as some places. We had ample space to eat and talk, but I tucked the carton on my lap when our dessert came. We shared a molten chocolate cake, and something else, perhaps cheesecake. They simply put a birthday candle in the chocolate cake for hubby's birthday, which was as he likes to celebrate in a restaurant, not too much fuss. We were happily surprised with the prices, not one of our entrees was over $20. We are used to paying more for a sit-down restaurant in NYC. We would definitely come here again. There were some people at another table, who told us they needed to come here to be comforted following Hurricane Sandy, though getting there was more challenge than usual for them as the subway was out. As the food was delicious, I can see why they would choose this restaurant for rest and comfort.

A great menu with all the classics...and some things for the vegetarians as well. I had the vegetable tagine and it was a really decent-sized portion. Desserts were also great--especially the milk pudding. Cozy dining room and good service as well. Great place for conversation.

We came here with friends who live in NYC otherwise we might not have found it. And it was one of the best evenings we had on our trip! We shared the mezze sampling plate and a big salad to start, both very good, then I had the moussaka which was just amazing. The staff were very friendly and attentive. We sat inside but the windows were open on a warm NY evening so it was just fine. I'm looking forward to coming back!

What a great restaurant! The food is classic Mediterranean, prepared to perfection, and reasonably priced! The service is friendly and accomodating! We ate outside all covered and it was wonderful! Looking forward to going back...so many things on the menu I want to try!

Among the many Mediterranean restaurants in the area this is really a cut above. While small, crowded and noisy it still makes for wonderful dining because of the excellent food. We ordered way to much, but everything sounded so good and didn't disappoint Some of the meze plates were. a little small( three items) but main courses were more than ample There are many regulars and we will be back

Great local restaurant with good food, service and wood burning oven. It's a smaller restaurant so come early or reserve. Fresh hot bread is served first. Our favorite mezze is the tomato eggplant dip though all the food is good. The mains we've had (lamb, stuffed cabbage, etc) are flavorful and good sized but we prefer to order several apps then split a pizza. Tables are a bit close together and a glass of wine a little pricey. However we always come back since food is so good !

The Bread. Served with olives and olive oil when you arrive. Hard not to fill up on that, it is divine! The rest of the food was executed nicely. I had Imam Bayildi and stuffed grape leaves. The restaurant has a nice varied menu, and according to my dining partner, it is very reliable. A good choice for a weeknight meal.

Our group of four enjoyed dining here. It was just what we needed after a day of travel to NYC but we probably wont be going back. Even before the entrees arrived we stuffed ourselves with the bread with olive oil (and olives) which the attentive staff continuously replenished. The oven is one thing that this restaurant has going for it! The food is pretty bland though. The chicken sis kebab was OK, but I have had more flavorful versions of this dish in many other restaurants. The dish was supposed to include basmati rice but the rice that actually came with it was probably Uncle Ben's or some other type of quick cook plastic. The vegetarian pizza wasn't very exciting either.

This is a small restaurant on Amsterdam with tables inside and out. We came with 6 people, and were seated right away, but it got full fast and I would suggest reservations. Oh my gosh the food! They started us off with soft, crispy flatbread from right out of the oven, with a strong fruity olive oil at the table. We had an assortment of fantastic appetizers-- our favorite was a dish of dumplings in a seasoned yogurt (think tzadziki) sauce that was ridiculously good. My entree was a moussaka, nothing like the Greek casserole-y dish I'm used to, but a very elegant single plate dish with layers of eggplant and other amazing stuff. I got to taste my brother-in-law's fish tagine, which was amazing, with dried fruits and citrus, something incredibly unique and tasty. My sister had a dish with chunks of grilled lamb on a bed of smoky eggplant purée, similar to baba ganouj. Also excellent. The desserts were just insanely good -- out-of-this-world baklava with vanilla ice cream, and a baked milk pudding dish I've never had before but was truly life-changing. The service was fantastic-- warm, friendly... when we complimented the food (which we did a lot), they would light up, like you made their day. Everything was so so good. I will dream of this until my next trip to NYC.

My husband, daughter and I had dinner at Bodrum a few days ago. It is a small, casual restaurant that was busy; we were lucky to have a table after waiting 15 minutes. Everything was very good. We had the large salad of tomatoes and cucumbers, a pizza and a moussaka. The ingredients of the moussaka were different from the expected (lacked potatoes and a lot of ground beef), yet it was quite good. The service was prompt and friendly. We will return to Bodrum in the near future.

I dont have anything bad to say about this place. Very polite and friendly staff, good and quick service, reasonable price, nice interior. The food was !delicious! We were on a 7 day trip and ate in many places, and this was the best. remember to book a table beforehand !

We have had better Turkish food in New York, so if that's what you are looking for in this restaurant I suggest you continue looking. Turkish food can stand on it's own, but this restaurant seems to think it need flourishment. They took standard fare and tried to put their own spin on it. Dishes that aren't intended to be wraps were made into wraps. Having lived in Greece and visited Turkey on a few different occasions I know what flavors I am yearning for in Turkish and Bodrum just doesn't deliver on those flavors. It's not inexpensive either, so needless to say we aren't going back and wouldn't recommend it either.

The reasons I cannot give this place a better rating: too noisy to hold a conversation or even to hear the server; too dark to see what I was eating; tables too close together (even for space-challenged Manhattan, this was ridiculous). Perhaps it does better on weekday evenings than it does on weekends. It is a shame, because the bread, which was replenished regularly without having to ask, was divine. Didn't stay for dessert.

Ahh. We arrived early for the other couple joining us so we had 15 minutes or so of hanging in the restaurant. It was Lunch at 1230-1 on a Saturday. The menus are enticing the staff knowledgeable, the portions ample. My wife had the lentil soup, my daughter the veggie sandwich wrap (big enough to nosh all day). Her beau had an omelette as did I. I chose the Turkish and he a veggie with salsa. Service was prompt. The restaurant clean. The bathroom well appointed. The chairs were not made for long sitting (an opinion) but we were there nearly 90 minutes and I knew it. The decor is interesting and we sat near the front at windows on the street. It was chilly outside but warm within. There were occasional groakers looking in but mostly the bustle of upper West Side New York City. The coffee was good, strong, not bitter. The service was good, prompt and as I said a pleasant meal and lots of talking.

The salad was pretty good and that is the only reason we are giving it a 3. The waiter had almost nothing to say about the menu except he mentioned one appetizer was mostly oil, so we chose another appetizer and that one was extremely oily as well. They did not give us bread or offer bread with the meal, other tables received bread around us. The restaurant looks nice inside and the pizza looked good but our experience was why eat here when there are amazing restaurants everywhere in NYC.

Reserved a table for 4 for dinner. We arrived early and were served our drinks and delicious warm Turkish bread with excellent olive oil for dipping. We then waited and waited and WAITED for our friends to arrive which they finally did 35 minutes late. Not a single sign of displeasure from our friendly waitress, who kept plying us with bread and kept our water glasses full. The food is classic Eastern Mediterranean, well cooked, attractively presented, and also good value.

We've been to this little Mediterranean place several times in Feb & Mar of 2013. Freshly-made hummus served with a warm bread is a great starter. The medium sized wood burning stove pizza is delicious....a thin crust with top-of-the-line ingredients from Italy and surrounding countries. The chicken or salmon is a great choice for lunch--cooked with precision so it is moist & flavorful. The salads are generous sized..try the greek with feta. We love the wide range of moderately priced wines. Enjoy 1/2 price bottles on wine Mondays.

With glasses of Turkish wine, we began with the appetizer sampler (six or so of the menu choices) paired with fresh baked bread. Choosing then two of the favorite appetizers and a lamb and a chicken entree, we were delighted with the quality and quantity. No need for dessert and a desire to return for another meal sometime soon. Service attentive.

This is a unique Turkish Mediterranean place in t he heart of Manhattan New York City … extraordinary service. With the scent of unique Mediterranean food. Here is a Monent for Lunch .. Shakshuka à traditional Maghreb North African dish which spread for Middle East particularly Jerusalem (means “All Mixed Up” in both Arabic and Hebrew!!!

This restaurant has a very inviting appeal and we love Turkish food. We arrived early and sat outside as we requested. The server brings olives and oven baked bread to the table, very delicious. Sometimes things don't go right on a dinner date. The table next to us was a 6 top with one very loud gentleman. We asked to be moved and we were accommodated. The server took our order but when it was brought to the table mine was the wrong item. The server said she misunderstood me and said she would have my Manti right out. In the meantime my husband was eating his Kofte which was delicious. The waitress did bring me another glass of wine for which we were not charged. I did not particularly like my order either. I am willing to give it another try as everyone was very nice. Great outside seating.

an individual pizza serves two normal people way too easy! the place is great, and the food is so good!

Decided to send a quiet evening after a hectic day of travel from NY to Philadelphia and back Took a walk on Amsterdam to see what looked interesting and ended up outside this bustling Turkish restaurant and found the last table providing I promised to be finished in 45 minutes as there was a reservation for it I said no problem as I was solo It started great was given some delicious home made bread light crispy charged from being made right in front of me in the wood fired oven and served with olive oil and black olives I asked my server to recommend her favorite dish and house specialty as I was exhausted and didn’t want to read the whole menu She promptly said the lamb tagine and I went along How disappointed I was ,it was bland and came with pieces of over cooked zucchini a few carrots and peas and red peppers ,it just seemed like boiled pieces of lamb,no depth of flavor and why would I order lamb tagine ,no flipping idea as the previous night have a small plate of lamb tagine at Alta which was incredible, that’s what happens when you are to tired to read the menu I was still a little hungry and decided to have the oven baked rice pudding with vanilla gelato It did the trick and salvaged the disappointing dinner

This is a small cozy place on the upper west side. The food is excellent! I love a place that can elavate simple foods to artistic heights and this place does just that. The breads are perfect and the various spreads are indiviually crafted and seasoned. This is not a place where the hommus and everything else all tastes the same (one of my pet peeves in middle eastern places). This is turkish food done right. All the smoky and peppery flavors are here, fresh, bright and bold. The lamb dumplings in a sour yought sauce - yummy. Service was friendlt and refined. Nice place. The interior space is small so make reservations if you have a group of more then four people. The out door space is noce, a little cramped. They have a large brick oven in the front room so I imagine the pizza as perfect as well but we didn't try them. We will be back!

We were visiting a family member who is disabled and took him to lunch at his go-to restaurant. The staff are attentive, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. We would definitely return.

In a Friday night at 6:30pm we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table for two. Service was attentive without hovering. If you sit outside, you are right on the sidewalk as with many city cafes. While they were busy, service was prompt and polite. We had a Babaganoush, kebab, shrimp casserole and leeks. All wonderful. But nothing topped the bread, served as a free appetizer. Many locals seemed present.

My wife and I decided to try Bodrum -- was able to get a reservation Sat afternoon for a dinner later that evening. The place was crowded but not too noisy -- we could hear each other! The service was prompt, pleasant and helpful....and we enjoyed our dinner! We shared an eggplant appetizer (quite unusual and very tasty). My wife had the branzino which she said was quite good but not exceptional. I chose the lamb shank -- incredibly tender and tasty. Limited dessert options (only four) and we took a pass since none of them seemed to be all that tempting.

As an Upper West Side resident, we have plenty of options for good food and this is one of our favorite restaurants. It's cozy and the food is amazing.

Dinner at Bodrum was really good! Had the chicken kabob with rice, delicious. My husband enjoyed a personal pizza. One of my favorite things about this place was the smells all around you. The tables are close and the scent of everyone's orders fills the air, and it's all good. You can dine indoors or the little sidewalk cafe outside. Prices were reasonable, service was good, and our server in particular had a very good sense of humor. We also shared the homemade chocolate pudding which was tasty!

Walked over to Bodrum this past Sunday at 6:00pm and got the last table before the restaurant was filled. Lively spot, with outdoors tables and doors that open onto the street. Looking for a great lamb shank with couscous or a beautifully cooked roast chicken or a pizza? Try Bodrum. Very tasty food, excellent service and a nice buzz.

We happened upon this restaurant on the Tuesday evening looking for some brick oven pizza. First off, the toasty warm bread they gave at the beginning was great foreshadowing of what was to come. It was up there with the best breads I've eaten in restaurants in NYC. Then we split the babaghanoush, which was smokey and as spot-on as the bread was. We also split a primavera pizza which I loved as well. The waiter was nice and the washroom is very serene, with a lovely shade of blue.... Overall a wonderful dining experience. I will return soon.

We had reservations (good move), hummus was made on premises - incredibly delicious! Shepherd salad and Moussaka were more than 2 ladies needed - wonderful flavor! Husband had Turkish Braised Lamb Shank, so tender it fell off the bone with out of this world taste. Definitely recommend a return meal.

After spending the better part of a Saturday afternoon taking in the galleries in Chelsea we went uptown to have dinner with our friends Michael and Rena who had just returned from Rome, so Italian food was out. They suggested Bodrum. We arrived a little after 5, the charming hostess told us they needed the table back by 6:30 as the restaurant was fully reserved. I love a restaurant with an open hearth. We shared some Mezzes. (Turkish Patlican, Lebne, and Braised Leeks). All delicious. Some soup of the day (Lentil), and a couple of Sheperds Salads were also split among us. For my entree I had the Branzini which was served in a crock with some fresh vegetables, an excellent choice. As an aside, they make their own bread which was some of the best I have had. Very attentive pleasant service, with reasonable prices. All in all an enjoyable dinner with friends in an attractive setting. I shall return.

The Turkish Sis Kebab and the Chicken Sis Kebab were tender and had a great charred flavor. The best way to judge is often the veggies, and these were outstanding. Try the Turkish coffee it is quite an experience. Mondays are ½ price wine days, which adds value to an already good choice.

Was attracted by the decor and the menu from the website and was not disappointed. Cozy quaint contemporary interior with great service and excellent food. Lamb was prepared well and subtly spiced. Salmon with cardamom was perfectly cooked with well chosen spice mixtures. Service was attentive but not invasive and prices were very good for Amsterdam ave. Highly recommended.

Went here based on a a tip from a friend. Both appetizers were good, but my main course was just OK. I had a "pounded and rolled" piece of chicken (with rice) which was good quality, but lacked flavor. The other diner had a lamb dish (kebob) which seemed better.

Informal Upper West Side spot with plenty of outdoor seating. Mediterranean menu with inventive pizzas, tagines, moussaka, and many Turkish specialties. Unhurried.

We went to Bodrum very late one evening; the waitress was very kind and kept the kitchen open for us so that we could still have dinner, I think it was way passed 10PM by then. We had some mezze and then shared a chicken sis kebab; everything was absolutely delicious! I have been to Turkey as well, so I have a comparison point. The only thing that I found a bit strange was the fact that they had regular pizza on the menu as well, which is not entirely Turkish, but maybe there was a story there as well. The value for money was good. They also had outdoor seating which was a perfect way to enjoy the meal!

We enjoyed every bite of the delicious mezze and shared the chicken kabob that was quite tasty as well. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful, atmosphere pleasant and inviting. This is very good value for the money. If you are not familiar with items on the menu, ask for suggestions and you'll end up with a very delicious meal.

We have chosen to go the the Bodrum restaurant many times. It sits about 36 people. It's cozy, pleasantly designed and comfortable. The open brick oven is a delight. Not only do they bake pizzas in the oven, but roast chicken and lambbut also shish kabobs. Yum! I like the earthy red wines and mint teas among the many beverage choices. You may need a reservation for evenings or weekends, but that should not be a problem.

This would be a definitely thumbs-up if a little less pricey. As it is, it would be more appropriate as a "fancy" place, which it is not. Anyway, food here is nice, I went there with two friend and we all ordered differente dishes - all were good and plentiful. The small sampler appetizer plate did not taste as good as I had in Turkey (should it?), but was fair enough. All in all, I would recommend it to anyone living nearby and looking for a convenient option.

We ate here last week and it was authentic Turkish food . Well priced also. Everything was well prepared and can't wait to go back. Hard to find foods great.

We were here for lunch today. The Staff was very good. The menu as well. We had have hummus to start which was wunderful. also the main: Pizza, lamp kebab and sandwich absolut great. Definatly a place to come back.

Despite late hours, service was good and shepherd salad was as it should be. Turkish Sis kebab was also nice. It was not much expensive.

We are fortunate to live just a block away from Bodrum, one of the most consistently good restaurants on the Upper West Side. Beware the bread--it's fantastic and easy to lose count because they keep replenishing your bread plate. Their salads are varied and excellent--Yesil, Shepherd, Mediterranean Mixed to name a few. We always get lebne to start, a delicious yogurt cheese based dip that complements the bread perfectly. Their chicken shish kebab is a favorite, served with delicate rice and mixed greens. Their thinly pounded chicken breast will not disappoint either. The restaurant has a cozy warm interior, with plenty of outdoor seating in warm weather. It fill quickly every night of the week so reservations are suggested.

We loved the food at this little restaurant. The chicken kabob was tender and nicely seasoned. The baklava was worth the calories! Unfortunately, the waitress was snippy, perhaps because she was the only waitress on duty for Saturday lunch - seriously understaffed.

We went here for brunch and it was very nice. I've passed this restaurant many times, but I have never gone in. My friends said it was good and it was for brunch (I don't know about the dinner items). The bread was wonderful, the mezze was delicious, the brunch items were well seasoned and perfectly cooked (including poached eggs) and the service was terrific. Overall, I was impressed and can't wait to return to try more food here. The music was a bit loud and the tables were too close, but I can't fault the food or service for brunch.

We just stopped as we were in the neighborhood and like Mediterranean food. Wde were there for lunch on a Sagtruday. We ate outside, in the shade in a nice setting. Food was fantastic. We each had Turkish Beer and shared a great salad of romaine, dil, cucumber, feta and light dressing. We also share the vegetarian sandwich, which is on a pita and includes carrots and a yogurt-walneut-dill sauce which is out of this world. The bread which comes with olive oil and olives is also great. They also had terrific looking wood fired pizzas. One terrific lunch and we will come back whenever we are in the neighborhood.

This stellar dining experience began with a Mediterranean margarita, which is the best margarita I have had in years. And I drink a lot of margaritas. The server brought freshly cooked bread and olives. These were just perfect. But the highlight was a seafood tagine meal. Moroccan is one of my favorite meals, and this may be the best Moroccan meal I have ever tasted. New York City is huge, and there are so many wonderful restaurants, but the next time I visit the city, I will go out of my way to go to this restaurant again. And what about the service--it was flawless.

We loved this Turkish restaurant and enjoyed people watching while dining. The Mediterranean Specialties starter was really great - we enjoyed each dip on the sampling plate. We shared the lamb tagine - it was moist and yummy! Will go here again for sure when we are on the upper West Side.

I have been to Bodrum several times in the past, but not for about 2 years. The most recent visit last Sunday was disappointing. It turned out they were out of the only rose vine they have on the menu. I had the the very last glass. We usually get a bottle. The food was ok, but the service was slow and we had to ask to have the plates and utensils changed after the appetizers. We had to ask to have empty plates removed, because there was not enough room on the table. This should be done without having to ask for it. Overall the level of service does not correspond to the prices charged.

Our food was really delicious. The service was attentive without being cloying. I am not a connoiseur of this cuisine, but the interplay of some of my favorite spices was superb.

Small cozy cafe that is quite popular (reservation recommended). Food is average but fresh and clean. Excellent fresh bread right out of the oven nicely served with olive and olive oil. Red lentil soup, a staple of the Turkish cuisine, was a bit strange - it appears they add butter and rice... Adana kebab was very average, Mucver (zucchini patties) was o.k. but I thought they put too much flour so they feel like pancakes. Portions were small but reasonable. Prices were a bit high for the type of the food.Basically, it is like a fast food place but a little better quality and cozy welcoming atmosphere Overall, it is nice place to come from a cold street...

The Bodrum is a pleasant place, sometimes nice and quiet (though sometimes crowded); the good is very good; and it's not expensive. On the whole, one of the better options on the still rather restaurant-poor Upper West Side.

Delicious, fabulous dips, nice ambiance, open to the patio. Superb bread, fresh out of the wood-fired oven, which just kept coming. Attentive pleasant service. A real find in the neighbourhood.

Our appetizers came aftet the entrees except for my wife who didn't get her kebabs for another 15 minutes. The food was so-so with only some of the food of Turkish origin. Super noisy means no quiet conversations.

Bodrum has a laid back atmosphere. That is a plus but it was carried too far during our brunch. The food (good) took a long time and then only those who ordered from the lunch menu were served while the two who ordered breakfast had to wait. Awkward.

Chose Bodrum Mediterranean for Sunday brunch with our children who are at Columbia. It was a real winner.. for the guy who will only eat pizzas as well as for the more adventurous eaters in our group. The mezze was superb, the chicken baharat excellent, the lentil soup and poached eggs with garlic yogurt and greens made me feel I was visiting Istanbul again. The friendly, attentive service added to the experience topped by the moderate prices for what was really quality food.

Food was good. Service not great. We placed our orders. The waiter and I spend a lot of time discussing what I wanted and then he forgot to place the order so the food did not come out together - in fact it was 15 minutes before he found someone to make the meal. I won’t eat there again

Delicious food at an affordable price. I will definitely go back. Don't pass up the fresh warm bread - really fantastic. Service was also very good.

The upper west side is a real family neighborhood, and it is filled with many casual restaurants. The Bodrum has tables outside so that the people watching is part of its charm. The food is very authentic, and we felt as if we were in Turkey. They bake their own bread which is not a pita, but is chewy and delicious. This is served with Turkish olives and olive oil. We sampled several meses, all of which were delicious and enjoyed the tasty shepherd's salad. The wine list was adequate and the service was friendly and solicitous.

Very relaxed atmosphere, but with a nice open kitchen area. The food here was amazing, and the delivery pick ups never stopped. Excellent, attentive service but not overbearing. The manti appetizer is amazing! We had a variety of entrees; tagines, moussaka, and swish kebabs- not a bad meal at the table. And nice wines to boot!

Bodrum is a small Turkish restaurant which offers a variety of Mediterranean food. There is a nice assortment of appetizers and great warm Turkish bread! Friends are not adventurous so we ordered Babaghanoush, salad, pizza and chicken shish kabob cooked to perfection! Dessert was baklava- not too sweet - perfect! This is a small restaurant and a local favorite. Prices are very reasonable! Will return if in the area!

We visited for a luncheon. Service is attentive not intrusive. The food is well presented. There was a brunch menu which was reasonable and full. We had a combination of dishes including a pizza. The soups were plentiful.

I probably would have been able to give it five stars if I had chosen a different entrée. The lamb was delicious, but it was kind of like a stew, and I am not a big fan of stew. The salad was superb, and the bread and olive oil dip were out of this world. I really want to go back and have the lamb chops or a pizza!

We met some friends here and picked this restaurant because of its location. Great if you are on your way up-town. It was very good. Service was good and the food was very good too. Great bread & lovely tomato/eggplant dishes. Outside seating is available.

Four of us shared Hummus and Babaghanoush as appetizers. This was followed by Lamb Tagine, Turkish Braised Lamb Shank, and a Margherita Pizza......For drinks we had 2 cokes, one wine and a cocktail. I believe we also shared Yesil Salad (romaine, olives, dill, scallions, cucumbers and feta.....all was good along with the delicious bread. My rating would be a B for food, A for service and B for atmosphere. Not overly noisy and fair pricing......about $78 per couple including tip. Would return.

Often in Upper West Side to visit family. Bodrum has quickly become my favorite restaurant. Delicious food, good beers, outdoor seating, and incredible homemade bread. I love the lamb shank, and their baba is incredible. It is a small venue, but I love it for date nights and for late dinners. Very reasonably priced for NYC as well.

I have eaten at Bodrum several times. The food is consistently good but not outstanding. The space is small so tables are close together and it tends to get noisy. It's a good and reliable choice

Let's begin with very attentive service. Bread was often offered and quite delicious fresh from the oven. Combination Mezz is very delicious though a little skimpy on the savory pastries, offering only 1 each for a platter that should serve 2 for the money. Kefti and stuffed eggplant dishes were mouth watering. Med salad ok but needs a more interesting dressing.

A great neighborhood find with wonderful warm service and excellent mediterranean cuisine. The 4 of us tried most things on the menu and it all tasted delicious. Drinks were prepared to perfection and the bread is wow. Small simple but wonderful place. Will for sure return.

One of the best Turkish restaurants on the upper west side of Manhattan. Shish kebab, hummus, and homemade bread

We went for a family dinner and were not disappointed. The service was wonderful, the bread was really great and for the five of us that went there, all ordering something different there was no complaints (well maybe my chicken was a little cold). We will certainly be back. Great prices, great service and great food, why would be not go back. Special shout out to the yesik salad, super - yummy!

We enjoyed a dinner for a group of 8 at this restaurant. The staff were accommodating and friendly. The atmosphere was so-so and the food hit and miss. The Turkish "sis" kabab was tender but very plain without much flavour. The location was convenient for us, but I wouldn't recommend it too highly to friends.

Loved our romantic meal here. The lighting and noise level was perfect for a 9pm Saturday dinner date. We were able to get a table right away. We had the Mezze Sampler- especially loved the eggplant and the yogurt dip. For our meal we split an Anon Kabob and cooked leeks. I describe the lamb dish as a deconstructed lamb meatball that may be the "best meatball sub ever". It was tender, seasoned beautifully, and had some of the best red sauce I've ever tasted. Our server was Nina. She was very lovely and attentive. She really cared about our experience and how much we enjoyed their food.

Bodrum still serves my favorite babaghanoush because of the tangy-ness, smokiness, and freshness. The just-baked bread, light and fluffy with areas of thin crispiness, served continuously alongside was excellent. The outdoor seating is pleasant – if you care for sidewalk dining. The value is good. Here’s what we shared: Rose, glass, 11 Babaghanoush, 7.95: excellent Mergueze pizza, 15: very good with delicious cheese and spicy sausage Roast Branzino, 22.95: excellent, with soft, tasty white meat and crispy skin; served with a mix of squashes and tomatoes and a pistachio condiment TOTAL, 73.81 26 May 2018 BONUS: Good value TIP: Reservations recommended

My family loves this place. My son loves the Pesto Chicken Pizza. I love the eggplant dishes (Babaghanoush & Patlican) My wife loves the Lamb Shank and I love the Chicken Adana Kebab. (I also really like the Manti. It is authentic, just like I had when on vacation in Turkey. It really transports me back.) I can't say enough great things about this place!

Food, ambience, service was all good. We were a party of four. We started with the mezze platter and karides guvec (shrimp casserole). all very good. For our mains we had Chicken Adana, Adana Kebab, Beyti Kebab, and spinach pizza. All good. We were there on a Saturday night and reservations are necessary.

A cozy, but a bit noisy place, the starters were good, although they forgot our bread, we had to ask for it, even though our neighbor-table was offered bread three times! And before we had finished our starters, we could see our main courses waiting for us on a table in the restaurant. If it was the kitchen or waiters that was planning it wrong we don't know, but it meant that when we recieved our main coruse (pizza and kofte) it was almost cold! The manager was a bit invasive, asking us about why we didn't tip when we had not even finished our wine. The service in general was not that good and the food quality was lower than average of what I would expect in a European country. For 2 starter, pizza and kofte and the cheapest bottle of wine, the bill was at 83 USD, quite expensive for an average experience. I will probably not come again.

Four of us ate here during my friends' mini-vacation in NYC, sampling a few Turkish & Greek restaurants over the course of a week. This is a solid choice for trying some classic dishes, from Moussaka & Baklava (Greek) to classic Turkish - from sigara borek to Kebabs - with common dishes (Mediterranean salads, eggplant & yoghurt dishes, etc.) in between. Following review advice, we'd hoped for a table outside but after a 20 minute or so wait, on a warm end-of-summer evening, we got put along the wall, inside, near the open window. A little tight, but not too bad. A little more hectic than outdoors, less street view but a view of the blazing brick oven. We tried several appetizers and main courses - desserts too - and everything was very good, no complaints about entrees or appetizers (or the delicious desserts). We had raki with our meal, as is the custom, and we were happy they had it. However - and this is the reason I could never give 5 stars - we were absolutely astonished, all of us, that this restaurant does not serve ayran, the "national drink" of Turkey and easily available at other restaurants in NY. Thus I cannot recommend this as heartily as Sevens or other West Side Turkish restaurants which of course do serve Ayran. Can't fathom why Bodrum does not. That said, the appetizers were pretty, well-prepared, and tasty. So too were the main courses. While the brick oven and their page of pizza choices are clearly a big draw to this restaurant, we went with classic favorites, mostly Turkish, a few really Greek, or regional. Yes, they are authentic in capturing the classics and have a nice touch with the presentation. (We failed to get one of the things we ordered, as it was very busy and apparently we'd overloaded the friendly but very mobile waitress.) We got salads and an appetizer of Manti - dumplings with lamb, herbs & garlic yogurt -and entrees of Lamb Tagine (they also serve "Pirzola Colorado lamb", whatever that is), along with various Kebobs - all good. Desserts were great, as was the khava/coffee. So, in sum, Bodrum offers a wide variety of both "classic" and modern/Westernized Turkish cuisine, with Greek and other Mediterranean standards, along with their brick oven "Turkish Pizza" offerings. On a nice day or eve, the outside tables are pleasant for the breeze and taking in street scenes and passersby. It does get busy at dinner time. Solid offering in the Upper West Side. But... bring your own ayran.

Visiting from Florida staying in a hotel nearby. Busy but had a dinner reservation and was promptly seated. All the food was served hot. Servers were attentive. Began with homemade red lentil soup. Simple and tasty. Wife had a Manti appetizer-steamed dumplings filled with beef and herbs in a garlic yogurt sauce-very creative in taste and portions. Then she had crispy calamari with several tasty pieces. I had stuffed cabbage filled with ground lamb and herbs served over a yogurt sauce and topped with tomato sauce. Three pieces-very generous portion. Ther Firinda Sutlac dessert was the perfect ending. Rice pudding topped with vanilla gelato. Pleasantly surprised how good everything was. Recommended this restaurant to family members who live in New York.

Enjoyed it very much, food was delicious, environment setting was pleasant Just be careful of the by cyclist if you are sitting outside they ride like there is no tomorrow as if they are on a highway

Ww went for lunch. Quiet, non-pretentious, friendly and efficient service, and good food, of course, reasonanly priced.

My friend and I always meet up after the holidays to spend time together and exchange Christmas gifts. This past Saturday she introduced me to a neighborhood restaurant called "Bodrum" which I had never been to before. I heard that it is run by the same people that run one of my old time favorite "Bella Luna." It is also on the Upper West side of Manhattan. It is small and cozy and it was a good thing my friend had already made a reservation because it was a holiday weekend and it was a Saturday! The place was full. We were there for brunch. I had a Bloody Mary and she had a Mimosa. Even though I hesitated about my drink it was pretty good. I always ask for lime and extra olives! You take a chance with a Bloody Mary! We started with warm tasty bread that we dipped in olive oil. We then shared crispy calamari which was also very good. When it was time to order our food we were already full so we just shared a desert!! The menu is Turkish and Mediterranean. It was a nice change of pace and I will go back again as we were not rushed and were quite comfortable.Keep in mind the place is small and "lively" when full so that may make a difference to larger parties and families.

Good choices of Turkish food and open hot pizza as well. The lentil soup is a good choice and/or get a variety of starters and share in the real Turkish/Middle Eastern way.

It is always good to know that a neighborhood place is maintaining its level. One sign of course is that it is busy. Bodrum was busy last night. As always we shared the plate of sample appetizers, along with the focaccia, olive oil, and olives that arrive immediately. Our mains were four-seasons pizza, moussaka, and fish tagine. All were enjoyed. We drank a bottle of the house Turkish red - pleasant. We will be back.

I walked here in the sweltering New York heat excited to discover a new restaurant and when I arrived I remembered I had been to a family dinner a few years ago.Nice ambience and a neighborhood restaurant feel, relaxed, friendly and cozy but not too small, I ordered babganoosh and ate the whole order by myself since my tablemate doesn't lke eggplant. It was perfectly done, just the right consistency and a little smoky. Even the bread was good! Ordered lamb shank with couscous because I was just too hot and tired to cut meat. The lamb fell off the bone and the pearl couscous was very good. You could have a whole meal of appetizers instead if you want more of a taste of everything. The staff was very attentive. There are many different lamb dishes to choose from, fish etc, as well as many appetizers. The salads are fresh and light. In a neighborhood where there are many small restaurants, this is a winner. It is expensive for the neighborhood but fairly priced for New York, We had two appetizers and two entrees plus cold drinks for about $75.00 but I think my entree was the most expensive on the menu.I would have been upset if the food and service were lacking; however this restaurant is consistently good so I left happy.

The food was delicious food here, particulary the roast chicken. Nice staff and drinks. I would recommend and if I had been staying for longer in NewYork I would have returned for that chicken

They needed the table back in 1 hour. We had hungry kids so that worked out well. When they said their kitchen was efficient they were not kidding. Food was out within minutes. Very fresh, nice presentation, friendly service, highly efficient kitchen. Hummus was so creamy and seasoned perfectly. Shepard salad was balances, fresh and lovely for light dinner. My daughter said bread was the “fluffiest bread ever!”, it was indeed! Would definitely recommend.

We were the family and some friends for dinner. The food was fantastic - everything we ordered was perfect. The Musaka and Lamb Tandir were GREAT!!! I highly recommend this restaurant for everyone. The owner is very nice as well.

Some of the dishes on the menu are delicious and others are ok. I think it is worth an extra few minutes to choose carefully from the menu and you will be rewarded for the effort. I like the bureks, and wine by the glass are also good. Outdoor seating is great in nice weather.

I have been to Bodrum two time. In each instance, it was a bit last minute on a Friday night. Reservations are definitely required but I had none. I called and they kindly found a place for my son and I-- we just had to limit our time to 90 minutes (no problem). The food is delicious and a very good value. I highly recommend Bodrum and will undoubtedly make a third visit, with reservations next time.

Humus (I think) stuffed cabbage leaves, lamb patties, a salad an OK bottle of wine and one desert for 3. All mediocre and horribly overpriced at well over $120. Service too casual and lackadaisical Does not live up to the reviews by any stretch.

Very nice neighborhood restaurant. My criteria for giving this a very good rather than an excellent is that I don't think I would want to travel across town for this restaurant as a destination. My biggest complaint about the meal was that I enjoyed the wood-fired-oven bread and dips too much so ate more bread than I should have. We ordered various dishes including wood fired chicken and fish tagine and enjoyed them all. The service was good. Would definitely return.

We had fried calamari, pilaki, branzini, atlantic salmon, and fish tangine and nothing really struck me. The food was fresh, simply made, but portions small and nothing spectacular. The atmosphere was nice, better suited for adults than families with young kids. Service was good though.

Best pizza and the best service in Manhattan. We were in a lot of restaurants in NYC . They deserve 10/10. The restrooms are very clean!

The atmosphere at Bodrum is warm, the servers are friendly, efficient, and helpful. Prices are good. The food is a mixed bag - the vegetable tagine was mushy, the warm bread and broccoli rabe were delicious, the zucchini appetizer was too greasy.

My daughter and I had gone from work to our church event in the city without dinner. So when the event was over, we looked for a place to grab a bite. We searched and came upon Bodrum. It was busy with the outdoor seating full, but we were seated immediately inside. It began to rain and the servers quickly reseated the outdoor customers inside. Our order was still taken promptly. I had the stuffed cabbage on the server’s recommendation. It was savory and delicious. My daughter had a salad, and enjoyed it. We would return to try it again when we are in the area.

I could rave about the lebne (a thick, mild yogurt with walnuts) or the home-made bread, or the olive oil on the mediterranean salad, or the baklava, or any number of other items I and my friends had tonight. But what blew me away was the service. In a full restaurant, we were treated as if nobody mattered more than we did. The staff genuinely cared about the quality of the food and the service. The prices were very reasonable. This was my second visit. I will definitely return on my next visit to New York.

This is a tasty and authentic Turkish restaurant. Staff are friendly and very attentive. Lamb tagine is very tasty and the lamb shank fell off the bone. The bread they serve with the meal is delicious also.

Terrific Turkish restaurant… Excellent chicken shish kebab… Wonderful lamp Taganrog If you have a room… Try the baklava They deliver as well… Also have great thin crust pizza…

If you love Turkish food you can't beat Bodrum. Really nice environment, very attentive staff and service and the food, of which we ordered several dishes, was delicious. Loved our time at Bodrum and would definitely come back.
Nice Little Spot
I have been longing for Turkish food for a while. As a child I lived in Istanbul. I made a mistake in not making a reservation but we were able to get a table. Although not fully Turkish, we enjoyed our borek (phyllo & cheese pastry), red lentil soup, salad, and salmon. Our young guest had white pizza. We ordered a bottle of Argentinian Malbec and enjoyed the evening. Prices were okay but of course the wine inflated the tab.
