Good food with some issues

By Jorge U |

We were a group of 8 sitting at 9:15… they wanted us to do the fix menu because we were more than 6 and it’s vey difficult to manage a big group (?). Finally they agreed to do a la carte, not everyone eats everything, some people like to choose what to eat. We got tapas and then the kitchen closed al 10:00 so that was it

excellent tapas -- better than most places we've been to in barcelona!

By bazingga_08 |

Must try if you're in the area! Fresh ingredients, excellent technique. I will be bullish and say this restaurant offers better tapas than most restaurants we've been to in Barcelona. Well done! Next time I'm in NYC, this will be in the list for sure!

A real Mexican tapas pearl on the 40th

By Rony K |

Mexican Tapas restaurant. We’ve tried several dishes, some were recommended by the staff, some were picked by ourselves. Bottom line- you cannot get wrong. Everything was just perfect including dessert. The waitress, barman and even the manager were all so kind, professional contributing to the great atmosphere. It is clear they all really love what they are doing : making great food.

Date night dinner

By Bridgett O |

The croquettes are amazing. They come with three ham and three mushroom. Given I don’t eat ham and my other doesn’t eat mushrooms, it was perfect for us. Great food and drinks.

Very Nice Dinner for Ladies' Night

By MaureenM10549 |

If you have six or more in your party, you must choose from two prixe fixe options instead of ordering from the menu. We choose the larger of the two which included seafood paella and jamon iberico. There was so much food, so many tapas and all very good. They accommodated our pescatarian with no problem. Red sangria was excellent, too. Highly recommend and we will be back!

Amazing Bite!

By Cassie B |

Was in the mood for something light and quick. Stopped at Boqueria and luckily found seating. Ended up eating at the Chef's counter and was not disappointed in the slightest. Watching Chef Catalina Vidal expo was a like watching someone lead an orchestra. The attention and care she puts into ever plate that came out of that kitchen showed in the perfect plating and extraordinary taste in every dish. The patats bravas and the cauliflower dishes were ridiculously delicious and the mushroom croquettas were out of this world. This is a must have for tapas in NYC. The vibe was great and would highly recommend the chefs counter.

Lush!

By Rica69 |

We hadn't booked but were lucky to get seated at the bar overlooking the kitchen. Great waitress who was helpful and attentive. Food was A-MAZ-ING!! We chose 4 plates for 2 of us which was plenty. Would definitely return..if we get time before we go home!

Food was good

By NatRod |

The food here was good but quite small portions. A bit pricey for what you get. Service was ok. Some of the staff was nice and friendly an others a bit rude.

Stylish Tapas

By 🍍🍍 |

Outstanding tapas restaurant with indoor & outdoor seating. Energetic vibe, smoky cocktails & delicious small plates make this spot recommended. 4-6 dishes per couple should do it. Vegetarian options & excellent desserts.

Great Place for Lunch

By MamaKatie |

Great Tapa Options! We ate here on NYE for lunch. The food was great. The service was ok. We recommend the cheese plate.

Fantastic experience. The

By Klaus_Jensen1 |

Fantastic experience. The place is cozy and at the same time trendy. The tapas is awesome and the wine is good. It’s kind of a pricey restaurant, but you will get what you expect

Just Ok

By BeachBoundBabe1 |

I had high expectations of this restaurant given it had good ratings on another site and I enjoy Spanish food. Very unique, and diverse menu. I had the baby squid and it could’ve used a bit more flavor and the sweet potatoes with the yogurt based sauce. The location in midtown is convenient for travelers and business parties. My service was the real drag. My waitress took my order, never checked back to see if I wanted to order additional plates (which I did). And I finally had to chase her down to get u bill.

Serendipity led to fabulous dining experience

By Nancy C |

We had just dropped off a package and were walking back to our hotel, casually looking for some place to have dinner. We happened upon Boqueria on W. 40th Street and were disappointed that all tables were reserved until much later that night. Then the hostess said "You could eat at the Chef's Table," which turned out to be a U-shaped counter, encompassing the kitchen. The menu is large--something for every taste and level of appetite, from tapas to "The Boqueria Experience" which, at $65 per person promises "Travel through the classics and beyond." As we were discussing what we might order, Chef Willy greeted us, then served as our consultant, and even offered us samples of a couple of items (the creamy mushroom croquettes and the rose sangria, which included a bit of tequila--fabulous!). Everything we ordered was sheer enjoyment. It was one of those times when you just couldn't go wrong. I've thanked the restaurant goddess many times for having all those tables reserved, making the Chef's Table experience, especially meeting Chef Willy, possible.

Nice little bar and restaurant inside the AC Times Square Hotel

Nice little bar and restaurant inside the AC Hotel near Times Square. Enjoyable tapas on the menu and a nice ambiance.

Need to Try Tapas

By cabowong |

My wife and I at the bar because it was busy (which was a good sign). We ordered the albondigas, patatas bravas, tortilla espanola, and jamon serrano. I order an Estrella beer (lager) and my wife ordered a glass of sangria. Total cost before tip was $75. My mother is Spanish and I’ve been going to Spain since I was a kid so I’ve had good Spanish food. That said, the food was very good. It’s a nice place to grab a drink, talk and have a couple of tapas before walking the city. However, given what we ordered, I found the food to be on the expensive side (but it’s NYC).

Great Tapas restaurant

By Journey168711 |

Thoroughly enjoyed the dinner with very tasty range of tapas and drinks. Close to authentic with range of vegetable, meat and seafood dishes.

One of four locations in Manhattan - located in a hotel near the Theatre District

By Alan304 |

The room is large and comfortable but the tables are close together. The Jamon Iberico de Bellota was very good. Our favorite plate was the Carne a la Parrilla - which is reason enough to return. The service was attentive. It would probably be a 5 star experience if the prices were a little lower.

I LOVE IT

By Mariana R |

The place is modern and beautiful. Drinks are delicious ($14 each) and the food is just amazing! Staff very friendly!

Tapas and SO much more!

By BernadetteF958 |

Dining at Boqueria was exceptional from start to finish. We were eating pre-theatre, so we gave ourselves enough time to enjoy the food, decor and ambiance. Because this was our first time, we asked our server what he would recommend in order to get the best and authentic culinary experience. He suggested THE BOQUERIA EXPERIENCE offering a surprisingly diverse selection of seasonal market menu dishes including a delicious charcuterie plate to beginning and two samplings of delicious desserts for the perfect finish. We also enjoyed their signature "peach" white sangria -- light and refreshing. Each dish was beyond delicious and service was friendly, professional and exceptionally seamless. We can't wait to go back and enjoy more of what Boqueria has to offer. It is absolutely worth the trip.

Good pre-theater dining

By dallas_blah |

This is a sleek Spanish-y restaurant in a new hotel (new as of 11/10/2018). The design is thoughtful, attractive, and comforting. The food is hits the spot; unpretentious with portions and prices commensurate with the midtown location convenient to theater-going. We'll go back. Here's the details: Ostatu blanco, glass, 12 Shishito margarita, 14: e's Bar, Jacob's Pickles, Barbuto, and Tessa all make better spicy margaritas, which is the cocktail of the minute nowadays. Who thought a shishito could replace the jalapeno in a spicy margarita? It was a good try, though. Jamon serrano, 13 Escalivada y Boquerones (eggplant and anchovies), 18: Good Boquerones! May run on the edge of what some people would expect for portion to price equity Calamares, 14 Brusselas con chorizo, 12 Raya a la plancha, 18 TOTAL 113 SHOUT OUT to James G and team for excellent service BONUS good service BONUS nice decor and comfortable environment

We were offered a table despite the Wednesday crowds. The tables were too close for our comfort so we returned to our bar seats much to the pleasure of the Hostess. The bartender was charming ad kept selecting our tapas dishes. After the first two we just left it in his hands. Every dish was an “ahh” moment. We are taking a friend there tomorrow night. We are very much looking to a repeat. It was surprisingly inexpensive.

Could not fault!

By LaurenC29 |

We decided to eat here before going to the theatre during our recent visit to NYC. It was pretty much next to our hotel and after reading a few reviews we decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed! We had the Chef’s menu and the food was brilliant. So tasty and a good selection of dishes. Every dish was lovely and we had plenty of food. We were all stuffed!! The blue cheese wrapped in dates in not something I would have chosen but was heavenly! We could not find fault with anything. Our waiter was very friendly and made our visit even more enjoyable. Would highly recommend.

nice night

By NJmomof3kids |

Nice night out with my family. The server was a sweetheart (sorry - I don't remember his name). We are a family of 5 - so it did get a little pricey. most of the dishes we chose were very good (garlic shrimp, croquettes, cauliflower) - but the octopus wasn't our favorite. cool atmosphere - we had a large roomy booth. I could see myself returning to try other items

We loved it!

By Sparty1023 |

We arrived for lunch and sat at the bar. The bartenders were very friendly and helpful about different drinks to try and the menu options. We tried a variety of foods and enjoyed everything. The portions were a perfect size for two friends enjoying lunch together. One of our favorite places in NYC.

Tapas feast

By RobBos772 |

Boqueria is a tapas style Spanish restaurant not far from Bryant Park in midtown Manhattan. The restaurant itself is furbished in a modern style, with lots of polished wood set around a central bar area. The music is pretty loud - at least for an oldie like me! - and the vibe is pretty laid back. The food itself was really good - a lot of small plates plus some other larger sharing dishes. We decided to go for the chefs choice menu, and whilst is was very good, I would go for individual tapas dishes if we went again. Highlights were juicy prawns in a garlic sauce, patatas bravado and a delightful dessert of almond cake with ice cream. The chicken ‘Main’ was really juicy and spicy, but we would stick to smaller plates in the future. Reasonable prices, so good value for money. Would return

Great Tapas, Drink Selection, and Atmosphere

By haolegirl2014 |

Best calamari ever! Forget sitting at a table, I highly recommend seating at the bar in front of the chefs/cooks. The kitchen staff are amazing, they were busy on a Friday night but did not miss a beat with preparing the food. Everything looked amazing. Great vegetarian options as well as seafood and meat choices, the menu is well thought out and portions are perfect for sharing. Try the house sangria white and red choices. The service was on point.

Bday party

By Alain L |

I had a milestone bday party there using their private room. My friends, family and I had a blast. Tapas are really great for parties. We had a 1 hr cocktail followed by a sitting tasting. Food was excellent, wine was great, staff was good and decor was appropriate. I strongly recommend it. The private room is intimate, yet you still have the vibe of the working restaurant.

Great Restaurant for Tapas and Drinks

By cncan11 |

Cozy yet lively restaurant with great food and drinks! Wonderful happy hour deals and the service was very good. The food was delicious and it was nice ordering many dishes off the menu and sharing.

Nice Tapas

By riny |

Boqueria is a tapas restaurant near Times Square – part of a chain. They offer a lot of small plate options - vegetables, fish, meat - as well as a number of large plate dishes – e.g., paella. Everything we tried was very good. 4 small plates shared by 2 is probably sufficient. Be careful you don’t order too much. The beer menu is limited but they have several good selections on tap. The wine menu is larger including house made sangrias. The service was attentive and friendly. The kitchen is open so it is fun to watch the action. You can even get counter seats at the kitchen. It's in the AC hotel - which means that you have to use the hotel rest rooms downstairs - not convenient.

Great venue but hit and miss dishes

By hjk1444 |

We would go back more for the venue than its food. The restaurant is spacious and not too loud - which is unbelievably rare in NY. It is a great place to have conversations. The croquettes and especially the beef were very delicious. But the rest of our meal was quite forgettable.

Unique tastes

By soulefultraveler |

Saw this place near the theater district and found they have a decent happy hour menu, although there is limited seating at the bar. Nice glass of Spanish wine and a few tapas, and we were off. Outside seating as well. Busy. Will try another time for a real dinner.

The oxtail is to die for

I had some really amazing tapas here with friends. The oxtail is the best I have ever had. I cant wait to go back and have more!

Taste of Barcelona in Manhattan NYC

By Merryheart |

If you're craving an authentic Spanish dining experience, Boqueria W40th is the place to be! This vibrant tapas bar brings the flavors of Barcelona to Manhattan with a lively (but not overwhelming) atmosphere, a well-stocked bar, and a menu full of Spanish classics done right. Drinks: We kicked things off with their white sangria with rum, which was refreshing, well-balanced, and dangerously smooth. They also offer red sangria with gin, tequila, and vodka-plenty of options to keep things interesting! Food Highlights: • Paella de Mariscos - A well-executed seafood paella with generous portions of fresh seafood. Every bite had that perfect balance of saffron, seafood, and socarrat (crispy rice bottom). • Croquetas de Setas - These mushroom croquettes were rich, creamy, and full of umami goodness. A must-try. Meatballs in tomato sauce - Perfectly seasoned and served in a deeply flavorful tomato-based sauce. Comfort food at its best. • Gambas al Ajillo - Just like the ones in Spain! The shrimp were fresh, the garlic-infused oil was incredibly fragrant, and the overall flavour was spot on. Boqueria W40th delivers an experience that transports you straight to Spain-great food, great drinks, and an atmosphere that feels both lively and intimate. Whether you're here for tapas, paella, or just a good glass of sangria, this spot is a win. ¡Salud! #BoqueriaW40th

Disappointing

By Passenger47647627375 |

I was disappointed to be shown to a hi-top table. When I told the hostess that I preferred a regular height table, I was advised there were none in the entire restaurant. My husband needed use the rest room to find that he needed to leave the restaurant and climb down two flights of stairs. The food was okay, but if you want a comfortable dining experience, this is not the place. It’s certainly not senior friendly. I nearly toppled the table, shimmying into by banquette seat. I thought it was just me, but the table of young people next to nearly toppled their table, too.

They took care of us

By Sarahviz |

My friend & I got to the hostess stand for our dinner reservation & realized right then that our show at MSG (Justin Timberlake) had JUST gotten cancelled. The hostesses were so sympathetic & gave us free champagne! We felt like we were special guests all night with the quality service. Tapas food was excellent! Drinks were delish. Great place to people watch.

Really good tapas in NYC

By Micheltravel |

I think this branch is not as nice as the one on Spring Street, (the setting) but still really good. Nearly same menu as we understood, great service, very tasty dishes. Not your standar fast food type tapas, but good stuff with great ingredients.

Wish I Could Have Reviewed

By GeorgeW1111 |

I was coming to New York from Colorado for a trade show, and my daughter from Maryland came to meet me on the Amtrak train. I wanted the night to be special, and knew she enjoyed tapas, so I made a reservation at Boqueria Midtown on November 10th for dinner on December 9th. We were both looking forward to dinner that night. Imagine my surprise when I received a phone call from Boqueria at 12:30 PM on the day of the reservation that they had a private party book the restaurant, and needed to cancel my reservation. They did offer to have me seated upstairs at the bar, but I declined. I had to scramble to find another restaurant for that night. I can't imagine why they cancelled my reservation at the ladt minute of as I know the private party had to have been booked in advance. Sorry, Boqueria, but I will book future reservations with restaurants that honor that commitment.

Excellent Restaurant Even with Food Allergies!

By Christine T |

My sister and I went to Boqueria before going to a Broadway show. It was amazing! I have numerous food allergies, which usually make dining out a challenging and often exhausting experience. Colin, the manager, and Darleny, our waitress, were extremely knowledgeable and accommodating. They saved my allergies on file, so it will be even easier to order when I return. The food was excellent, the ambiance was upbeat and fun, the prices were very reasonable, and its location to the theater district was ideal! Definitely go there!

Excellent restaurant

By Christina L |

Great place, excellent food, very interesting happy hour. Value for money top! Thanks to Brian. On the other hand, some tables are very tight on neighbors so it can be more or less intimate. I would definitely recommend!

A nice surprise a stone's throw from Times Square

By Cetan10 |

Truly a pleasant surprise a stone's throw from Times Square. Excellent Tapas and perfect sangria. The prices are those of a New York restaurant that is not a fast food restaurant. The place and the environment are truly welcoming. And the welcome from the manager of Italian family origins and the staff is nothing short of excellent. I recommend it without a doubt.

Great Tapas spot with Paella

By foodlovergirlny |

I was looking for a restaurant near the theater district, but not one of those tourist trap type places. The menu at Boqueria looked enticing, and it was close enough to the theater we were going to after lunch. The interior was elegant, spacious, and looked almost like some kind of art space with that impressive ceiling. They offer “Barcelona-inspired tapas bar serving a menu of Spanish classics and market-driven seasonal specials.” We ordered a few Tapas plates to share. The first one was Tomates Mallorquinas. Beautiful thick-sliced large tomatoes were covered with amazingly delicious ingredients. Second item was Pulpo a la Plancha. The size of the octopus was impressive, and certainly enough to share among the three of us. And then, the main dish, Paella. Since they are made to order, it took about 40 minutes for the dish to come out. If you are planning to have Paella there, make sure you have enough time. The paella was a really nice size, filled with all sorts of seafood and shellfish! It was delightful and delicious! We had a pleasant lunch there, the service was friendly and polite. The food was delicious and high quality. Everything we ordered was a hit. I would love to go back to try more of their tasty dishes in a near future!

Highly Highly Recommended!

By Eric S |

Introduced to Boqueria Soho 4 years ago and loved it! Revisiting New York and there's a new Boqueria at West 40th which I had to try. Well it's certainly a lot bigger than the Soho restaurant but the food is just as good and what a great vibe the place has, being so close to Times Square. Highly Highly Recommended! Ended up eating there 3 times during our New York stay and was never disappointed.

Tapas & drinks

By TheWayfarer |

I was meeting a friend over the holidays and she gave me lots of options and this stood out when I was reading the menu, great food and good service they have few places around Manhattan I went to the one not far from time square. We had a bit of everything and this roast chicken dish was amazing.

Rude and disrespectful

By Coco c |

Last night, my family of six dined here before a 7pm Broadway show. We arrived at 5:30pm, giving us plenty of time, but the server immediately told us they had a 6:45pm reservation and that we had to finish in an hour, which given us a comfortable period of time for dinner. We assured them it wouldn’t be an issue, yet throughout the meal, they aggressively rushed us—telling us what we could or couldn’t order, insisting we were "running out of time," and even refusing certain dishes. When I asked why we were being treated this way, the server rudely said, "Because you didn’t make a reservation." Yet, we had over an hour before we needed to leave, which is more than enough time for the 40-minute dishes we wanted. The server also ignored us: no water refills, while every other table got attention, and overall, the service and even the host were hostile and even rolling her eyes multiple times. Whether it was because of our time constraint or because I was the only fluent English speaker at the table, the discrimination was obvious. For a six-top, the automatic 20% tip felt like an insult after such disrespect. We’ve had many pre-theater dinners in NYC, but this was by far the worst experience. Never returning.

Tourist trap, bland dishes

By Sunny |

Dishes were pretty bland, no real flavour. Service was good and setting nice but the dishes missed the mark

Amazing find

By TravelPamVB |

I was walking back to my hotel. Hungry and tired and came across this amazing tapas bar. Since I was alone, they put me at the chef's table and I got to watch them cook while I ate. The waiter helped me pick my wine and food. It was amazing. The restaurant was packed and people were having a great time. Highly recommend this place.

Good food, great atmosphere, bad service

By andykiley |

The food was great, but the service was quite poor. The atmosphere and menu are just like you’re in Spain…..but the waiter we had was terrible and the wait between tapas was very long. Our waiter added several dishes we didn’t order to our bill and we had to go back and forth twice to get a correct bill. One table next to us left without ordering dessert (which they wanted to do) because it was taking waaaay too long for tapas. The table to the other side said they had been ignored for the past 45 min.

Great atmosphere and energy

By LindseyH505 |

We had several tapas dishes before heading to a show. Our server was smart and asked if we had to be out by a certain time so he could make sure to space our meal out appropriately. Prices are affordable and the vibe and energy were great!

Great spanish tapas

By Simen |

Nice place that felt spanish and the tapas was really good. We were two friends sharing 4 tapas and that was more than enough for us. Great service and affordable Prices.

A refreshing option for those catching connections at Port Authority or Penn Station

By Enrico P |

The area at 8th and 40th is a difficult place to find decent food while waiting to catch your bus or train connection and since my stalwart Sapporo's closed down I've admittedly been a bit lost. This place is much more expensive than my old Japanese favourite but given what you might be asked to pay at Dean & Deluca across the street this will put you in a much better frame of mind. We squeezed ourselves in at the bar and ordered a couple of drinks and 3 tapas dishes and found ourselves pretty satiated. Good flavours, interesting combinations and a nice lively atmosphere that wasn't overly noisy.

Excellent Spanish restaurant

By 71jack |

If you are in Manhattan and fancy Spanish cuisine, this is the place you should not miss. The cuisine is really Spanish, you will find some excellent tapas, from pan y tomate to the classic tortilla. Very good also the croquettes. The highlight, however, is certainly the pescado paella, cooked on the spot (it takes about 45 minutes) and really done well! It far exceeds many paellas eaten in Spain. Also noteworthy are the churros and the Catalan cream. To stay in New York the prices are more than fair.

Great food and exceptional service!

By Francis P |

Amazing breakfast was my 1st experience with an exceptional service from Andrea. Just wow. Went back & impressed again

Happy hour and churros con chocolate

By Eva de la Cruz |

Very nice place with nice spanish tapas. Special mention to delicious churros con chocolate and the waiter was very nice and attentive all time.

Delicious tapas close to Times Square

By Erin B |

We have been to other outposts of Boqueria in New York but this was our first at the 40th street location. We love the food - standouts are the patatas bravas, shishito peppers, charcuterie board, calamari, and bacon wrapped dates. While the decor is similar, the atmosphere is not quite a hip as the Soho location (where we have been in the past). It would make a great pre-dinner meal and still felt busy when we went at 6:45. Service was great. The only downside is that the cost of the small dishes adds up when they all sound so good and you end up ordering too much!

Very tasty spanish tapa!

By thebeautifulguy |

Been here twice cause I love their food! Came here for NYC restaurant week but got turned down because they said I can’t do it because I’m by myself! They should have put it on the menu that the minimum is 2 persons. Location: It is located in West 40th. There is outdoor and indoor. I went indoor and asked to be seated on the kitchen counter so I can see it, again I was turned down. There are lot of seats and pretty nice interior. Service: they are nice to explain why I can’t do the nyc restaurant week menu and why I can’t sit on the kitchen counter. But still it should be on the menu so people won’t get confused. They were fast serving my food! Food: So I ordered ALBONDIGAS: it was good meatballs, the inside is moist and tender and the sauce compliments it. 4 huge meatballs and you will be full! CROQUETAS de JAMON: crispy in the outside and it melts inside! Soo good my favorite! DATILES CON BEICON: omg it was the bomb! And there is a sort of a nut inside that gives texture to the dates! The bacon was so delicious! CHURROS: this was my list favorite, the churros was okay and the chocolate is too liquidy! Price rating: 8/10, it was not bad for food that you will get. Definitely will come back here because I love their foods! Hopefully next time they can offer NYC restaurant week to people who went by themselves!

Reminded me of Barcelona!

By giselameister |

Restaurant was yamming with people and great smells! We were seated at the kitchen bar and ordered couple of tapas and a bottle of wine. Waiter was attentive. We enjoyed watching the kitchen staff putting up the beautiful fresh plates. It reminded me of la Boqueria in Barcelona! When we got ours.......good but toooooo saltyyyyyyy! I was bumming! Ordered a ricotta flan which was excellent! Which they could tone it down on the salt!

Great for breakfast

By dg2014jg |

We stayed at the AC Hotel to which this restaurant is attached. The breakfast was just like I went to my kitchen and fixed it myself. Nice selection of breakfast items served hot and tasty. In the evenings it was always packed for happy hour and dinner. Breakfast is just a walk-in.

America's Next Top Tapas!

By Tanya T. |

We passed on a restaurant because it didn't look appealing and kept walking. Then the heavens opened, angels sang, and we found Boqueria W40th. We were promptly seated outside in a covered tent. The night ambiance made our meal memorable. We ordered ensalada vasca with chicken, patatas bravas, and salmon catalana. The total bill was about $70 before tax and worth every penny. This was one of the best meals I've had in Midtown, and I would be more than happy to visit again.

Amazing food

By Ksusha |

Went there many times with friend and never were disappointed now its one of our favorite restaurants in nyc. Food is always fresh and pAella is amazing. Deserts delicious, i love turron, best desert i ever taste.Friendly stuff, lots of promotions. Drinks are good too, we had cava and sangria and it was tasty. Prices r not high at all for quality they offer. Highly recommend , we ll go there again soon

Skip It

By WORLDTRAVELER239 |

We were staying at the hotel connected to this restaurant and stopped in a few times. The first morning was for breakfast. It wasn’t busy and waited over 10 minutes to be greeted at our table. It then took another 10 for coffee. Food was okay once it came out. Later that evening stopped by for a drink and was told by the bartender that I had it order food if I wanted to take a drink back to my room. Breakfast the next day was just as annoying. There were about 3 full tables and 8 dirty ones with no guests. They wanted to sit us pretty much on top of the other guests to avoid cleaning the tables. They were annoyed when we said we would wait for a clean table. This whole time was a clean section they said they don’t use for breakfast.

Perfect pre-matinee destination

By suecassel |

We tried this place because it was close to the theater district, and it proved to be a good call! We were immediately seated, and the server was quite attentive. We chose 3 small plates to share, and all were delicious. And the sangria was also tasty. We’ll definitely be back!

Solid Tapas

By Tom L |

Boqueria has a solid assortment of tapas. We opted for pan con tomate, bacon wrapped dates, mushroom croquettes, traditional tortilla, roasted eggplant (a big hit) with some manchego to finish. All were certified as very satisfying. Our beverages consisted of vermouth, beer and wine. I'm not sure if their liquor delivery was late but three of the beverages we ordered were not in stock. Service was friendly and charming although a bit distracted. There was big groups, singles, couples all seemingly enjoying themselves. The space is fairly spacious and lighting is appropriate.

Typical tapas restaurant.

By Michael |

Typical tapas restaurant. Very friendly, knowledgeable staff. Good food ,although the octopus was a bit chewy, rest of the plates very good. There is enough variety that we would go back

Lively, fun delicious tapas

By SEFD |

Pollo Rustico may have been the best chicken I've ever had in my life! Also loved the roasted eggplant dish and the artfully plated croquettas. Interesting sangria choices, great service, fun atmosphere. This would have been a 5 star rating but for the fact that the tables are packed into this place like sardines. Still, I would return

Tapas maravillosas

By lsasafras |

Boqueria is a stunning Barcelona style Tapas restaurant with multiple locations. My husband and I visited the one in Times Square last week. It has a great vibe, with a large central bar, good background music and large open windows looking into the bustling kitchen. The service is efficient and polite. Our server had spot on suggestions on what we might enjoy. We ordered the tabla de quesos y embutidos (traditional cheese and sausage platter), the peppers stuffed with oxtail which was a nightly special and the pulpo a la plancha (octopus grilled over exquisite mashed potatoes). We washed it down with a pitcher of red sangria. The cheese platter included some olives, fruits, nuts, quince paste, serrano ham and sausage as well as pan con tomate. Amazing! The oxtail was ground and in a delicious brown sauce. The octopus tasted as fresh as any I've had in Galicia, where pulpo is a specialty. We finished our meal with 2 cortados (espresso with hot milk) and a crema Catalana, a lemony creme brulee from Catalunya. There were many other desert choices to try on a future visit. The food and ambiance are exceptional. Although it can get costly to try multiple plates, we were quite full with our choices! They also have a loyalty program that we joined where we are promised a sangria pitcher on our return. Salud!

Business Dinner in Big Apple

By MickeyH3535 |

Very busy for a Wednesday evening but , hey, it is New York. Luckily, we had a private dining room at the back of the restaurant which was perfect for a group business dinner. Food was very good if you like a mixture of traditional which something a bit different as well (eg grilled rabbit skewers). Very nice wine and service was excellent.

terrible

By Yanet N |

With a reservation and everything we ordered dinner and my wife and I arrived 45 minutes later and I did not arrive… I ate dinner without me at the New Year's Eve dinner due to the bad service due to their mistake

Too fast

By KentandDil |

We asked the waiters to slow the presentation of dishes as there was a logjam of plates on our table. As the restaurant was not busy it is hard understand the rush. Having said that the food was very enjoyable.

Happy hour

By SalfromIL |

ood was a mixed bag here. The papas bravas were crispy but not spicy but still good. The jamon bocanita was skinny with just one thin slice of ham. The white anchovies were delicious but some of the homemade potato chips that came with it were undercooked. Finally the mussels were a big hit. Extremely good. Service was good but not great.

Good Food

By rachel_a |

I was disappointed that this restaurant did not have a record of my reservation despite me making it weeks in advance and having email confirmation. The woman on the front desk was a little grumpy about it but gave us spare seats at the chefs table area. Despite the rocky start the food was absolutely delicious, we really enjoying every bite and also quite good value we felt. Our server, Leo, was a delight

Very good tapas

By IlyaNJ |

Busy and popular place - bar seats seems to be all occupied on any weekday night, in addition to all table seating. Make sure you reserve seats in advance. Very good tapas menu, and a few larger-plate options for those who need them. We tried the majority of choices over several visits here, and always like them all. Two tapas per person seems to be the right amount every time - of course, to share by all at the table.

I went for breakfast yesterday

By Jeffrey M |

I went for breakfast yesterday and was pretty disappointed. While I understand it’s part of the Ace hotel I expected more . Better service and better food . The tortilla was not made fresh and why would you serve pain con tomate in the winter with it ?

Delicious breakfast

By Kate737nj |

Tortilla is so delicious- layers of cooked potatoes, eggs and onions, served with garlic mayo and tomato bread. Also flaky buttery croissants. Adorable interior. Nice for business breakfast.

Another Great Experience

By mattpgab |

We showed up early for a 7p reservation to find a very busy restaurant. We were warmly greeted and seated at a booth in the bustling bar area. We’ve been here before and we weren’t disappointed. The pan con tomate, the stuffed dates, the cheese board, and the croquetas were so delicious. Service was prompt and friendly. This is such a great mid-town spot. I’ll be back.

Nice Flavours

By Maybebaby |

I had arranged a business lunch near to the office of a good friend and Boqueria had been chosen as the venue. The location is easy to find on 40th street and upon arrival we were swiftly shown to our booth where we ordered, my colleague choosing the Salmon with Rice and I had the Pollo Asado Bowl. My chicken was really well cooked with excellent flavours when combined with rice and salad. A very satisfying meal. If you are looking for a swift and reasonable lunch around 40th Street Boqueria is a good choice

Le meilleur espagnol de New York!

By xantikutxi |

Being Spanish I’m very difficult with the quality of the food. In this case it is very good from la tortilla , patatas bravas, croquetas etc. The wine list is also qualitative offering very good Rioja Alta like Ardanza. Enjoy it !

Not one dish dissapoints. I wish this restaurant was in my home town.

By Pepper |

I had the most amazing brunch at this restaurant. first there was the bottomless rose Sangria ( which may have affected my pleasure in the right direction). Then there were the small dishes, wonderful potatoes that made me drop my attempt not to eat carbs, a refreshing thinly sliced fennel salad, and wonderful, slightly spicy meatballs. After that we ordered a paella for three- eggs over easy over witl herbed rice and chicken and a few other things in there I wasn't sure of. Again, I was swept away. Add a good latte and a fun sundae and it was perfect from start to finish. Its really quite unique- Spanish, but with creativity. It was also a pleasant place to sit in, great center counter where I could go if I was alone, and cozy booths for friends or couples.Tables in the back for bigger parties. I think the music was a bit loud, but they turned it down when asked. Server had a great personality and there were no big wait times. I wish there were six stars for this one.

A winner in every way

By Don K |

If you love tapas you will love this restaurant. Service was outstanding; our waiter patiently helped us understand the menu and its strengths and had the perfect touch; attentive without being intrusive. Food was excellent and enjoyed the best ever Brussel sprouts--not to be missed. Highly recommend.

Spanish food😍

By Mat M. |

Restaurant was nicely decorated and oriented.. staffs were awesomely good.. and food was a real deal.. definitely coming back!!!

The good food I’d good, but the great food is fantastic.

By Masontravel |

Great service. Nice selection of food. We had the shrimp (decent) and the potatoes to start. But the star was the chicken. I could eat it for every meal for the rest of my life. We ate at several restaurants on our trip and this was our favorite.

Lovely tapas spot

By Katie |

Lovely restaurant, great ambiance. Very good location, food was lovely and reasonably priced for the area. Would definitely return.

Great tapas restaurant in fun atmosphere

By mundsworld |

We walked past this restaurant one afternoon while meandering around the city. Not wanting huge entrees and looking for new flavors after Vietnamese and Thai food, we decided to try this for dinner. It was a nice surprise and more than satisfying, definitely a place we would come back to in the future. We had various tapas, all very tasty, and they have an extensive wine list with several fine Spanish wines. We were later surprised to find that it was a chain: it had the feel of a "one of a kind" niche restaurant.

Look at it and pass!

By YannickZoldermans |

Worst tapas ever. Taste is average, staff is slow. Extremely overpriced. 20usd for a small portion of squid. Go and eat somewhere else.

Perfect for a late evening snack spot!

By BougieKnight |

We made this a late evening couples snack spot upon returning from an NYC event. We went about 8-9pm and did not need a reservation on a Saturday evening. We were immediately seated and service was attentive and knowledgable during our stay. We started with the house made Red and Rose Sangria, both refreshing and excellent after a long evening outdoors! We split some small plates including Pan con Tomate, Bruselas con Vinagreta Iberico, Croquetas. All we nicely prepared and delicious! This was the perfect spot for a late evening snack and drink! Definitely check Boqueria W40th if you want a quick stop for a snack!

Tremendous Tapas!

By Colinmccoll |

Great tapas restaurant with a wide selection to choose from. We particularly enjoyed the crab and fennel on toast and the lamb skewers, but to be honest it was all very tasty and well priced. Highly recommend.

Amazing food and atmosphere,

By Lanol777 |

Amazing food and atmosphere, the best tapas I ate in the City. I was surprised how delicious the food is. We had to wait for an hour and it was a bit noisy and hard to hear but the food had worth it.

We will be back

By Sherri H |

We ate at the chefs table it was a great experience watching all the food being prepared. The food was excellent exceeded our expectations. Our waiter was great timed all our tapas perfectly and was very attentive.

Good food ruined by terrible service and no warning before Kitchen closing

By KabirSing |

We’ve been to Boqueria many times and usually had a great experience, but our dinner on August 26th was very disappointing. Halfway through our meal, we tried to order another round of tapas at 10:04 pm and were told the kitchen had closed at 10:00. No one informed us of this beforehand. Our server was completely inflexible and didn’t even bother to check if something simple, like cheese that required no cooking, could be brought out. The response felt like typical corporate doublespeak — polite words but no effort to actually help. Considering it was only a few minutes after closing and we weren’t warned, it came across as very tone-deaf and poor customer service. Good food, but very poor service — left a bad taste overall. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60763-d14130542-r1027197411-Boqueria_W40th-New_York_City_New_York.html#

Chef’s tasting, the way to go

By Mary H |

My friends were in town and we wanted small plates. This place did not disappoint! There was 4 of us so we decided on the chef’s tasting! Come hungry! I could have been rolled out! We have had food in Barcelona, but this was just as good! We started with Serrano ham, manchengo cheese, olives, and tomato bread. There was a creamy eggplant spread with yogurt and pita that was outstanding! It had fresh dill and mint with roasted peppers and eggplant. There was mushroom croquettes that tasted like a bowl of mushroom soup in a croquette. The potato Braves were garlicky and spicy. I couldn’t stop eating it! The lamb and chimichurri was so fresh and bright. The meat was cooked perfectly! My favorite dish was the delacota squash with chorizo, manchengo and macadamia nuts. The delicateness of the squash needed the bold spice of the chorizo, the saltiness of the cheese and crunch from the nuts perfection. The seafood paella was the best I’ve had. The seafood was cooked perfectly and the sofrito was on point! I couldn’t stop eating that crispy rice! Service was great and the food was excellent! Try the chef’s tasting! You will not be disappointed!

Totally worth it!

By Tammy G |

This is a gem in the heart of Manhattan. Service is excellent! Staff is friendly and suggested the most amazing things on the menu. Food was tailored to our requests. Drinks were delicious, sangrias were not overly sweet, espresso martini was my first and was fantastic! If you like gourmet, you will love this place. Thank you Tom for making this a great, memorable experience for us!

Delicious

By Amy C |

We absolutely love this restaurant - its our 3rd time (and had they not been fully booked on our last night - it would have been our 4th). Very well priced, delicious variety and beautifully cooked with proper flavours of Spain rather than adaptations which is quite often the case. The staff are really lovely and with an open kitchen - there is loads going on to see.

Amazing food, great service

By IowaMike2016 |

Loved this place - creative menu, terrific execution, and top notch, friendly service. Highly recommended.

Loved, loved, loved it

By Ecmancini |

Maybe we were just in the right mood, but we loved this place. It's pretty. Service was wonderful. Food is fantastic. My only complaint is the tall benches/stools; they are hard on a short, senior citizen with balance problems. The day we went the fryer was broken so we couldn't order some of the famous tapas but the dishes we had were delicious.

Memorable Birthday Dinner

By Sunshine57102382990 |

From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was warm and inviting, setting the perfect tone for our friend's birthday celebration. The menu at Boqueria offers a variety of tapas that strike the perfect balance between tradition and innovation. The gambas al ajillo were a particular highlight - perfectly cooked shrimp in a fragrant garlic and olive oil sauce that had us scraping the plate for more. Every dish arrived at the table bursting with flavor, and the portions were generous enough that we didn’t feel like we were just snacking but truly indulging in a feast. However, what really made our experience unforgettable was the exceptional service. The waitstaff went above and beyond to make our friend’s birthday extra special. They not only offered fantastic recommendations but also surprised us with a complimentary dessert – a decadent chocolate cake - that was the perfect ending to our meal. Their attention to detail and genuine care for making the evening memorable truly set this place apart.

Great tapas

Met friends here for dinner on a Friday night. The place was packed but service and food was excellent. Nice open kitchen. Would eat here again!

Outstanding Food and Ambiance! Love it!

By Ron R |

My son and I had brunch here. We opted for individual “breakfast” plates; mine with chorizo and his with ham to accompany the eggs. Big servings. Great food. Excellent service. Try the red sangria. Highly recommended.

Dinner

By Keng L |

Arrived at about 7:40pm and was seated promptly. Tables were pretty close together. Restaurant filled up by 8. Noisy. Service was prompt and good. We ordered 4 dishes. Most were not to our liking. The grilled hake was fine. The sauted spinach had a bit too much vinegar. The sauted wild mushrooms also too much vinegar although good quality. The baby squid a bit salty and too much fennel flavor.

Great Tapas

By ToonTowner |

Great tapas restaurant. Some restaurants claim to be a tapa restaurant but really aren’t. This one hits the mark. Try the Classic Tapas set menu. It has a little bit of everything.

Tapas Night

By irishgirl813 |

Went there after a play and had a reservation, but we had arrived about 20 minutes early for (we assumed it would take longer to get out of the play). They accommodated us rather quickly and we’re very friendly. The tapas were very good and the waiter made great recommendations. Will definitely go again

Boqueria 40th: A miserable experience all the way around

By Neely S |

My experience has been horrible. Although the food was more than adequate, I was overcharged. The waiter added a dish (more expensive than anytihing we actually ordered) to the bill. I didn't notice until I got back to the hotel and called right away. I was told by the manager on duty that he would look into it. He never called back. When I called back, he said he was still looking into it. I have called repeatedly since March 22 and gotten nothing but the runaround. I was told by manager Jorge that he was told I had been refunded the amount. When I told him I had not, he said he would looki into it. I have been trying to arrive at a solution and now, no matter how many times I have called, Jorge is "out of the Office," "in a meeting," "he'll call you right back," w="what is this regarding?" At one point he offered a gift card if I could come in and get it. I live in Los Angeles and am not hopping on a plane to pick up a $30 gift card. I can't even get him to pick up and offer that he write the gift card and I'll have a friend come get it. At this point, why would I even want a gift card? I can't go to the credit card company because we got the meal, just not what we were charged for. I DO NOT RECOMMEND this restaurant under any circumstances. A waiter that cheated and a company that wouldn't make good.

Pre-Show Dining

Nice vibe with an open kitchen. If you are older like I am, you might not like the high-top tables or the music, but we enjoyed our meal here. Had a reservation. Seated promptly. Good service. Great coffee/cappuccino. Would recommend.

Hidden Gem in Times Square--Beautiful Restaurant & Excellent Service

By Claudia G |

This Restaurant & Bar is one of Time Square's hidden gems! My friend was visiting from California and we arrived late for dinner after checking in. I was SUPER delighted to be greeted by Colin, the Manager. Colin made us feel welcome and provided seating options--he pays attention to detail. We sat at the bar which is aesthetically pleasing, well stocked and our bartender--Manuel has been with the company for 7 years we learned! That says A LOT about management at the restaurant ---they treat employees well to have that kind of loyalty and longevity. We ordered various plates which were to die for--the shrimp, octopus and cheese charcutier--highly recommended. For Drinks we had white wine from Portugal. We were not rushed and the entire staff was friendly, professional and attentive. Thank you Manuel and Colin for making our dinner memorable. Locals dine and hang out and this location. HIGHLY recommended for food ambiance and service.

Travel to Barcelona by Subway (You can't miss this place in NYC)

By G9982WKjuanr |

Typical Spanish tapas place. Great level, laugh everywhere, amazing food and service. Rodrigo Delgado and crew will make the best Catalonian food of NYC. Ask for paella, it will take time because is made by Emily from scratch, as it must be. All food is delicious. Octopus is tender, croquetas are magic, jamones (hams, not prosciutto) are not salty and very high quality as you can taste in the best resto of Barcelona. Location is perfect and venue very cozy, full of wood and great layout. Desserts are also a great part of the meal. Great tip: Ask for kitchen sitting, they have a great counter where you can see the best show of Spanish Cooking.

Dinner for one

By ChrisintheBahamas |

This was my second visit, I returned because it was so good last time I booked a table but chose to sit at the bar. The service, atmosphere, food and wine were all excellent once again.

Wonderful food!

By jaime82m |

The food was fabulous!! Our foreign exchange student (from Spain) was delighted to have authentic meats from home! The drink menu was impressive also.

Best lunch this trip to NYC

By bethinbbTA |

Went here for lunch with my cousin who works next door. The food was as good as the company. I got the fennel salad with chicken. The chicken was so tender and the flavors of the salad was sublime. Service was very attentive and relaxed, just how you would like it. The atmosphere inside was very hip and inviting. I will definitely be back.

Excellent Tapas

By JusWannaSleep |

Located in the AC Hotel on 40th St near 8th Ave. Even though it is classified as a Times Square restaurant, it was a very easy walk down 8th Ave from our hotel in the Theater District. Boqueria gets busy so I recommend a reservation. The restaurant is clean, large, noisy, and the service was very attentive. However some of the plates took a little longer to arrive than we are accustomed to in a Tapas Restaurant and the delay was with the kitchen. We didn't mind because it gave us more time to linger. It was just the two of us. We shared a bottle of win. Then started with a TABLA DE QUESOS Y EMBUTIDOS appetizer. Pricey but worth it. Also recommend the garlic shrimp, GAMBAS AL AJILLO, and the mixed grill, PARRILLADA. We weren't happy with the raw scallops, CRUDO DE VIEIRAS. I don't recommend them. Do not miss the hand made CHURROS desserts. They are made on site and as good as advertised. Be advised that the restrooms are not in the restaurant, they are located downstairs in the adjoining hotel lobby. Overall it was a wonderful evening and would definitely return. Highly recommend!

Rude service and average food

By GlobalStu |

We reserved a table online using Resy for 10.45. When we walked in, albeit a little late (just after 11). We we rudely told the restaurant was closed until 11.30. When I explained why we were there the manager (think her name was Mimi) dismissively said ‘good to know’ and walked off. Had we not got a game at MSG to go to I would not have eaten here. Unfortunately in the wrong industry from that interaction. Food was ok and our server Timothy was super nice and helpful. If you’ve eaten this type of food in Spain you’ll be disappointed. Prawns had zero flavour and the octopus was overcooked. Not recommended.

This is a tapas place for dining with friends

By HenryNYC |

Very nice ambiance, vibrant but not too noisy so you can still carry on a conversation. Seats are reasonably comfortable, not too cramped. Wide range of menu so choices are abundant. Seasonal items are very good. Ask waiter for wine pairing choice and you will get a good suggestion. A party from 3 to 6 are most ideal. 2 people might run into high price per person.

Surprisingly good

By ilovescones |

We were impressed with the variety and quality of the tapas across the board. Grilled asparagus and the lamb skewers were particularly good. Near the Port Authority- who knew? Service excellent informative and friendly. Two different dining experiences, same quality.

Mother's Day Brunch 2091

By Caren J |

nice assortment menu; nice casual environment for dining, good bar scene, front area of the restaurant has booth style seating good for families; seating in the back is a little tight, but you are able to have a conversation

Love love love

By Mel T |

Spanish food is one of my favorites. I love the tapas and the unlimited sangria during brunch. Anytime I have a brunch date this is always my go to! It’s like stepping in to Spain without actually being in Spain. Thank you to the awesome attentive staff you all do an amazing job. I’m alway a joy

Friday night

By Scielbi |

We had dinner & drinks here. Absolutely nothing outstanding and very loud. Difficult to carry on a conversation. I don't think we'd ever return here if we're back in NY.

Good Tapas food / poor air conditioning

By mcsc-squared |

We were in NYC and got hungry at between the meals hour — around 4.15pm. Unfortunately many decent restaurants in NYC close after lunch and before dinner from 3-5pm. Boqueria was open and had both outdoor & indoor seating. We sat indoors because with the heat index it was above a 100. Overall we liked the place - decent food, particularly the Pimiento de Padron, the Croquetas, Gambas al Ajillo. However the air conditioning was poor. They had their front doors wide open and the air conditioning units weren’t able to cool the place down. Fortunately they allowed us to try a few different tables to select where we wanted to be, but that made a decent meal experience become average.

Great Food

By Flower9291960 |

Great service and food. Went there on a Wednesday night. Although the place was very busy, the staff were still very attentive. Great place to dine before seeing a show.

Worth visiting

By Daniele P |

Food is great, well cooked. Staff is nice but you have to wait for them at times. Monday night it was crowded but there were a few seats on the counter. The kitchen staff have fun while working.

Disappointed

By Peter D |

Please don't order short Rib Paella $48.50. A huge bone with no meat and very little inside marrow wich I won't eat at home or in a restaurant. It came with some rice at the bottom. We also ordered seafood paella medium, $49.50. The worst paella I ever ordered in a restaurant. The beer I ordered tasted just like bud light $9 and in addition I was charged 20% gratuity $44.50 and when asked the waiter what if I didn't like the service or food, he chose not to reply. Left the place hungry and disappointed.

Sharing Tapas in Midtown West

By Penboy7 |

We have eaten at a few of the Boquerias sprinkled around Manhattan, but it was our first time at the midtown location. This is a tapas style restaurant, so it's best to order a few different dishes for the table, the octopus is always a treat. However it was the specialty cocktail that was the highlight of the meal. The Devil Wears Manzana is a spicy drink that we have been trying to replicate since we were there. The service was outstanding and the floor manager came over after discovering we were repeat customers to welcome us to the newest location. A lively restaurant and a fun night out.

A little Spain in NY

Spanish restaurant with tastes quite similar to those tasted in Spain. Price quite expensive, but motivated by the nice local and the central location.

My favourite meal during our stay in New York. Service from Pablo was fabulous and the food absolutely delicious. Estrella too so what’s not to like.

Quick food before the show

By Nimai Hari |

We had a show in the area and stopped by this location for a bite before the show. This was a great option as the restaurant was great due to the service being quick to allow us time to make the show. Also, the sangria was incredibly delicious.

Badly, 3 people had dinner for $106

By Juan Carlos M |

You have to make a reservation because it is always full, 3 croquettes, a cheese board full of chillies, peppers, grapes, raisins, olives, three cheeses and three mini toasts with tomato, to finish with picaña, two bottles of water and two Galicia stars . It could be that we are in NY, although we have been eating a variety of food for a week, today was a disaster, since we were going to the hotel we had to buy something to finish dinner,

Great food, service, atmosphere at a fair price

By cjdvries |

During our 6-day trip to New York we visited this place 3 (three) times! Being European we preferred to have smaller portions than the typical American plates, and this restaurant had it all. With our party of four we ordered 4 different tapas. We ordered two or three times and enjoyed a great variety of food. The dishes were well prepared and tasty. Service was swift. Overall we had great nights, excellent service, good food in a nice atmosphere. And a very good price/performance ratio.

Don't Miss Breakfast!

By Cynthia R |

We went here for dinner, which was delicious then returned the next day for the best breakfast we had in Manhattan! Our server (Solomon) was charming and wonderful. Get the egg breakfast with the potatoes with garlic aiola and choriza! Coffee was subpar but everything else was fantastic! The Spanish dishes are a delight! At dinner, don't miss the bacon-wrapped dates!

Fun tapas plates

By MicheleFaith |

Our server was extremely nice and ordering several small plates to share is so much fun. The food was very good! Be sure to make a reservation.

Repeat Customers but Disappointed in Changes

By walkinvirginia |

We have loved Boqueria on W40th in the past. This was our first trip since January 2020. Only seating (with a 36 hour lead time) was on the patio which was fine. We arrived at 5:45. I ordered several tapas and my husband ordered paella which we were told by the waiter would take 45 minutes. Our show was nearby at 8:00 so that wasn't a problem. Two other couples came in after us and at 7:10 after seeing them served paella, we asked what was going on. We were assured it would come right away. I had already gotten all but one of my tapas (the one that I had asked to be served first as an app). The final tapas dish and his paella arrived at our table about 7:15. He rushed through it rather than being able to enjoy it. Our waiter came by with two glasses of Cava on the house...but no time to drink them. Overall, the dinner was very disappointing because of the service. That will most likely be our last visit. Such a contrast to dinners there in years past.

Awesome Late Lunch

By mattpgab |

Enjoyed a great mid-afternoon lunch at the bar on a recent Thursday afternoon. The croquettas, the pan con tomate, the briney olives, and the lamb skewers were all hits. The service at the bar was friendly and efficient. And the Albariño served by the glass was crisp and refreshing. This is a super convenient spot if you’re staying at the AC by Marriott Times Square. They offer a great breakfast too.

Delicious and unique food

By JesLucas |

We are staying at the AC Hotel and a friend told us to try the restaurant. The food was very delicious!!! The servers were very nice and when I asked what dishes she recommended she told me about several choices. We did a cheese platter to begin with and then a variety platter w steak, pork and house made chorizo. For dessert we got the churro s’mores....delicious. We also have a very picky 11 year old who has a bit allergy and they were very accommodating to that too.

Great food, fantastic management

By Josefina P |

We were in the city to celebrate our anniversary and to enjoy one of our favorites, tapas. We had the anchovies, octopus and the paella. The anchovies were mild with a delicious lemon sauce. The grilled octopus was perfection and the paella was one of the best we had had outside Spain. One of our best nights on this trip made special by Paris the manager tonight. We will certainly be returning.

Amazing restaurant

The food was amazing and the service was lovely. It had an amazing atmosphere in the evening when we went. Couldn’t ask for anything better! Would definitely recommend

Great tapas experience

By Gino K |

An absolutely great tapas experience in NYC. Found the restaurant while passing by and after looking at the menu decided to stop by for lunch. The menu offers authentic Spanish tapas dishes and great sangria. Felt like an authentic experience. Staff overall very kind.

Excellent - staff engagement, attentiveness, management and food

By FrankRugg |

This has become my regular Thursday early dinner stop. The tempernillo is wonderful, the service is excellent and the management, Rebecca in particular, superior in all respects. I've found myself wishing there more interactions with the prep chefs while seated at the kitchen bar - I'd probably try more things and purchase more items with their input. Wait staff is very helpful, though. It's a place I'd recommend - though after 5pm it does tend to get noisy and a fully packed space. There is a wide range of ages, all fully appreciated and served well.

Great spot for theater goers

By Scimommy |

Located between theater district and Penn station making it so convenient when we go into the city for a play. Every item delicious. Drinks tasty. Service excellent. We’ll be back.

Great Place for Brunch!

By FishMom3 |

Enjoyed a great tapas 'brunch' at Boqueria for 4 of us celebrating my mom's birthday trip to NYC - friendly staff, great atmosphere, very good good!

Slow slow service

By RunningEsme |

I know it's hard to find help at restaurants but the service was so poor. Slow to take your order. The food came out in random intervals. One dish here, two there, one here, and then another a lot later. We never even got something we ordered. It was a long time for the check to come and then we never got change back from the cash. We waited, and waited, and waited some more. Caught the servers eye. Got ignored. Finally gave up. Just poor customer. I did like that glass water bottles were left on the table. The food was good except for the tomato bread. I was expecting tomato slices with a bit of herb on the bread. It was just a tomato sauce spread on. Bread good but not worth it

Enjoyable dinner

By DeborahandAndy |

Five of us met before going to the theatre. Delicious seafood paella, flatbread with mushrooms, and sangria- one non seafood person enjoyed an egg plant dish with pita bread. Good service and comfortable setting

Great late lunch

By Otto W |

We like tapas and this Boqueria location is great. Plus TripAdvisor reviews sealed the deal. We had the cheese plate, shishito peppers, lamb skewers, octopus and grilled potatoes. Comfortable place, well appointed and very friendly service. We would go back.

Great Catalan food

By olgamak1010 |

My friend and I are coming to Boqueria pretty often to various locations in NYC. Food is perfect, all of it. The only one dish I wouldn't recommend is pork steak - is very dry. All the rest are perfect: Paella, octopus, patata brava etc - everything is absolutely delicous

Delicious and fun!

By PG5000 |

Stopped here for a late dinner with my daughter and they hit it out of the park on all counts! Food was so tasty and delicious. We had grilled squid in a black squid ink sauce over roasted white beans, a fabulous platter of hams (ibérico, prosciutto) and cheeses (manchego, goat cheese), and lastly, scrumptious lamb meatballs. Everything was expertly prepared and tasted like Spanish tapas from Barcelona. Yummy sangria with many cool assortments (a pineapple white, a berry rose). But I was also blown away by the service. We sat at the bar and the waiters were so warm and friendly and made the night really FUN! This is a real find in a part of Manhattan that has lots of so-so restaurants intended to serve a crowd, but their quality was too notch!

We were there spontaneously and ate very delicious tapas. Very delicious was the roasted bread with steak and chorizo slices. The staff was very friendly, although we didn't fully understand why they wanted our phone number on arrival.

Fresh, clean & tasty

By TRIPKG |

Ate here two days of our 4 day stay in the big Apple. Staying next door at the AC (another amazing experience that I will review separately) The menu is diverse but the ingredients used are fresh & very tasty. Combination of flavors, are different than the normal breakfast. I had the Arroz Negro - a nice dish with poached eggs, black rice, sautéed spinach and fresh herbs. Terrific flavors melt in your mouth. My partner had Huevos de Marcilla - poached eggs, shoestring fingerling potatoes and kale with sour cream. My partner adored her dish as much as I mine. We shared the Carmelized Grapefruit - why have I not tried this before! AMAZING. A little hard to eat with a spoon but we devoured it nonetheless. The service was friendly but a bit absent both days. I’ll totally return here on my next visit and has now been added to my list of must go to places in NYC. Nice work.

Tapas for Two

By ChrisintheBahamas |

We planned a trip to this place well in advance and reserved a table. We arrived 5 minutes early and it was clear that the restaurant was busy. The helpful reception staff asked us to wait a few minutes. We were seated on time. We were given a small table close to the open kitchen which gave us a chance to really experience the atmosphere. It was busy and noisy but that didn’t bother us. There are a lot of staff and they are both efficient and well organised. We chose the Boqueria Experience at $65 each. We had a great cocktail and water with a superb bottle of Spanish white wine. The food consisted of several delicious dishes including aged ham and cheese, creamed broccoli, croquettes, meat balls, potatoes and of course paella followed by churros for desert, all excellent. The bill was $300 with tip, great value and well worth the visit

Beat Spanish outside of Spain.

It was some of the best tapas I have had outside of Spain. The best gambas. Sangria all of it. Small space. So make reservations. Tho heaters outside make it toasty. Service was good.

Good tapas

This place is conveniently located. There is a decent selection of tapas. They have a brunch menu. The chorizo eggs was good. It's all high top so they do not have high chairs.

This is how it should be!

We arrived without a reservation at peak time 8pm. Feared the worst as restaurant was rammed. Just 20mins later we sat down, ordered and expected a long wait, but were pleasantly surprised, first tapas out in about 10 mins, followed at just the right pace by others. Service fast, and friendly and the food fantastic. My first ever 5/5!

Chicken dry and salty. The seafood paella was horrible dry and rice not cooked not worth the price. Chicken comes with no side paid all this morning for no sides.

Lively Atmosphere

Attached to the AC, this place was packed and lively. We got seated quickly near the kitchen which is a plus for me. Ordered a couple of small plates. The food came out in a decent amount of time. We had the steak, brussel sprouts, potatoes, and meatballs. The sprouts and steak were the stars of the show.

Ask yourself - Service vs. Food

By Tellitlikeitismc |

I don’t believe I have ever given a 1 star to any establishment - however - Boqueria at this moment deserves nothing higher. The food was ok. Nothing on the menu that would make me say “I’m coming back”. Not pictured was a French Toast, which consisted basically of Fried Dough with some caramel on the plate and 4 slices of apples. SERVICE ??? You won’t find it here. Slow to order. Slow to serve. Meals not served at same time. Slower to receive check and have it taken care of. If any restaurant, bar, hotel, etc...wants you to come back - wants you to pick them over the competitors - Don’t you think Customer Service should be at the top of the list. Maybe it was a one off - doesn’t matter - first impressions matter. This restaurant no longer matters. Happy Travels.

Great food, beverages, and service. They were full but food came quickly and fresh. Chef Willy had the kitchen humming. We will be back.

Brunch

Boqueria on W 40th has a good vibe with delicious tapas and a solid drink menu. The patatas bravas and gambas al ajillo were standouts. Service was friendly. Overall, a great spot for Spanish flavors in a lively setting!

Bartender stated the Old Fashion was premixed and I couldn't pick my Bourbon. He then proceeded to hand mix an Old Fashioned with a house bourbon. I literally saw him mix it. Later, I was having a real life everyday conversation with a fellow patron when a different employee proceeded to berate me over my opinions regarding the conversation. She literally started yelling. The food and drink may be good but who would support an establishment that lies about their drinks and yells at customers.

Very good casual dining spot near Times Square

We were staying at the AC Hotel during our trip to NMYC and decided to try this place for dinner. Very good food, authentic Spanish tapas in the hustle and bustle of New York City. The place was packed as you'd expect on a Saturday night so we sat at the bar; service was very efficient. The restaurant also serves breakfast in the morning which is hand for the hotel guests; we did not try breakfast during our stay. More than happy to visit again.

Food rubbish, service good ... not worth it

Cold coffee, very average Spanish omelet and ok Bravas. Service was good but did have to ask for hot coffee after they served a cold one. Not worth it ... in my opinion.

Deliciosa cena

Unique flavors and imaginative presentation of the many tapas made for an enjoyable meal. Like many good New York restaurants, it's busy and noisy.

Stumbled upon this tapas bar by accident and wish we had found it before our last day as we would definitely have paid another visit!! Great atmosphere, friendly helpful staff and lovely food (and plenty of it). Cannot understand any less than excellent reviews. A "must" if you are visiting NY.

A lovely afternoon of great food and excellent service

A friend and I chose Boqueria for the Spanish food experience, and we were not disappointed. We both had a small paella and salads. Delicious! Our server, Joel, was excellent from start to finish. He was professional, helpful and friendly. My friend and I spent a long time catching up and eating, and Joel took good care of us. We felt zero pressure to hurry up and leave. We enjoyed our afternoon at Boqueria.
