Outstanding food quality, much more than a steak house

By Morris |

I originally selected Bowery Meat because my son is a big "steak" guy. After dining there I now realize there is a much broader menu than just steaks and all the items are expertly prepared. We really wanted to try the duck lasagna but he guest next to us had it and the portion size was much too large for our appetite that evening. My wife had the wagu burger and said it was the best burger she has ever had and we have hit all the top NYC burger places. My veal chop was perfectly prepared and nicely seasoned. I would recommend Bowery Meat to anyone. The only thing lacking is ambiance. The place has a chain like feel which doesn't take away from the food it's just with food as good as they have you expect a more unique atmosphere.

Superb Steak House!

By ItalianDoc85 |

This is a fantastic steakhouse that I feel is on coarse with establishments like Del Frisco's and the like. We ordered the Côte De Boeuf which was an abundance of steak. We requested the steak to be medium rare and it came out decadently juicy and flavorful. The appetizers and sides were equally remarkable.

Good

By debcoh |

We are here on a Saturday night and we were part of a large group celebration so unfortunately we had a fixed menu to choose from that included 2 steaks and a fish and chicken as well as the appetizers and sides. It’s hard to rate as it’s not what I would normally order. The consensus was good. The 2 desserts were great though...bread pudding and some chocolate chip with ice cream brownie

Saturday Dinner

By Docdk7 |

Don't usually go to a restaurant that specializes in meats but was told couldn't miss this one. Arrived at seven and were greeted by two somewhat disinterested hostesses. Arrived at our table and met a disinterested person that was to look after us. Had drinks-- I had a vodka martini - the vodka was a potato vodka from Pennsylvania-- worth trying. Appetizers - zucchini carpaccio and cauliflower steak-- you can't miss these two!! Main course a Skuna Bay salmon with A side of minted peas - done to perfection I had the Bowery Steak. This was one of the BEST steaks that I have ever had. Better than anything that I have prepared which has always been my standard. I ordered it blue and it was cooked to perfection. Changed the potatoes to Fondont--good change. Wine list was extensive but somewhat overpriced. No half bottles but had a couple of good glasses. Two and half stars for staff FIVE stars for the food!! Would go back to see if 2 1/2 could go up.

Meat meat meat

By Robert Matsuoka |

These guys know meat. They have a great selection. Staff is super attentive, ambiance elegant and comfortable. Great wine cellar. It’s located in one of the city’s hippest neighborhoods. What more do you want? Oh - you will pay. Jeff considered ordering chicken. What was he thinking? (He made the right choice). Perfect place to go after you nail a media day.

Perfect meat in a nice atmosphere

By btandwn |

This place is - for a change in NYC - not very loud which I appreciated a lot. On the downside it is - as unfortunately is the case in many NYC resturants - quite dark - so bring a flashlight to read the menu... :-) The waiters are very friendly and present and explain the meat selection live at the table. The meat is perfectly grilled and served with tasty sides. I would say this place is better than many of the well known places for steak in NYC (like e.g. Peter Lugers)

Very memorable steak

By delphinian |

Really excellent dinner. Can’t fault it. I had set menu business dinner with a group of 20 and I wasn’t sure how it would be, but it was excellent. Would love to go back and try the a la carte menu.

Spend your money elsewhere

By Ned N |

The prices are exorbitant for the quality of food. The steaks were not tender and the food was just sub par for a NY steakhouse. Restaurant is extremely noisy. They put no bread on the table. So many other options for a good steakhouse experience in NYC.

Great Food, Great Service, a little pricey, but worth it.

By Tootsy J |

I had the Filet mignon on the bone which was excellent. We had a bunch of great sides and bone marrow and some really great wine. the place was great and excellent service. I was there for a business dinner, fun. they had a blast. I will return

Excellent meal with terrific company!

By Al A |

Friends were in from out of town and we went to the Bowery Meat Company for seeing a show. It was one of the few steakhouses I hadn't been to in NYC and had been wanting to go there. The food, service and ambience exceeded my expectations! We had a terrific time.

Good quality stressed service

By Jonas F |

Visited BMC a early saturday evening with a friend. Relaxed atmosphere and fairly quick service. My impression was that staff was really stressed, even at early evening with not that many guests. We didnt get that friendly service you would expect from a restaurant with this profile in NYC. As most steakhouses in NYC Ill say BMC is slightly overpriced and service should be better. We shared some charcuteries that was great and then I had the supernice Bowery Steak - reccomend it to anyone!

Not impressed

By JohnfmBrooklyn |

Tough steak, dull knife. Steak was tough and knife was dull. I asked for a soda 5x before I got one. The waiter tried to give my friend a prime rib when he ordered the NY Strip. Waiter insisted it was a NY Strip. Didn’t even know the cut of steak. I should have noticed they didn’t call this a steak place, overrated. Fries were ok, Brussels sprouts were amazing. Don’t waste your time.

Delicious food and nice environment

By DJMXX |

Took clients for a holiday/thank you celebration and despite the packed house, our round table for 8 tucked in a side room felt intimate and the noise level reasonable enough to carry on a conversation with all parties. The service and food were great, starting with deep fried risotto and mozzarella balls on the house (no bread). We ordered the ricotta with dried cranberries and pepitas, served with a lightly toasted crusty bread, the huge wagyu beef meatballs (2 per order but cut in half they served 4 each), the pork belly in lettuce cups and the salmon sashimi. Most had steak or salmon for the entree (4 of us split 2 orders of the 14-oz filet mignon on the bone - perfect sized portions!). We ordered the crispy French fries, not overly creamy creamed spinach, fried sweet potato disks, Brussels sprouts (2 orders) and shishito peppers for the table followed by the s'mores and cheesecake desserts (both are very generous and shareable). The selection of wines and drinks was varied - I loved my cucumber, vodka, mint, lime drink and I hear the Long Island drink was very good as well. Everything was outstanding and with the sharings, the bill came in at a reasonable $100 pp before tip. I highly recommend.

Disappointing!

By chinaren_10 |

The restaurant came highly recommended from colleague and a Friend. The place was fully packed. We had reserved but was seated by a large and quite noisy group. We asked to change and they offered outside seating which was very pleasant given the nice weather. Unfortunately, with two other tables occupied, we did not get much attention from the servers. The 400-g bone-in-filet was at best average. The grilled lobster was fresh and meaty. Our sides were good - asparagus was nicely done. One of the few restaurant that was rated well in TA that did not match my experience.

Great place

By GlobeTrotting291418 |

We went for dinner to this restaurant and we had a great time and amazed by their food! We had Kusshies, a type of oysters that were parfectly paired with a salsa verde sauce, a nice twist to mignonette, the we had the specialty of the house the Bowery meat, which was a very tender and delicious meat served with mashed potatoes. For dessert we ordered a cookie skillet with ice cream a the chef sent us other 2 desserts complement of the house which were delicious too! Definitely a place that I recommend going if you are in NYC!!

Favorite Steakhouse in NYC

By james_dorsin |

This is the best steak experience I’ve had in NYC! The meat was the best I’ve had, ranking above Peter Lugers (in my opinion). The atmosphere was different than your traditional steakhouse and would make for a great date night. Everything on the menu was superb. The cocktails were amazing. Not a bad thing to say about this place. Definitely worth checking out if you’re hungry!

Great service and amazing food

By tkloever |

We were a family of four visiting this gem of a steakhouse. Food, service, and wine pairing was great. I higly recommend this to others. We ate In bone filet mignon, chateaubriand, and duck lasagna, an d we were all very happy about our choices! For dessert we had the best breadpudding ever. We willbe bavk. General Manager was so nice and serviceminded and his team delivered beyond expectations!

Trendy and meaty

By Zelig |

Bowery is located in a nice neighborhood close to Little Italy. The restaurant seems to be very trendy. I liked the decor; it was kinda sexy. The food here is pretty good overall. We tried the Duck lasagna, the oysters appetizer, and the burger. Everything was great. The duck lasagna was very hearty, cheesy, and full of duck. The burger was pretty good and meaty. The oysters were very rich in flavor. Our lovely waitress was very helpful, enthusiastic, and attentive. She gave us suggestions and helped us make our order efficiently. We really enjoyed our experience in Bowery and may come back again.

Overall disappointment : Blame it on Rachel Ray

By KeyWestMonkey |

Reservation was made over two months prior on a recommendation from Rachel Ray's tv show. On this annual trip we always eat at a NYC Steakhouse on our first evening together (group of friends from Boston, Ohio, and Key West) Reservation was confirmed twice by text and again noted requesting a "special table and we were celebrating a birthday" As our reservation was made at 0830pm....at 0820 in a cab I called to notify them we may be a few minutes late (stuck in nyc traffic) I was told by the hostess..."absolutely no problem" We arrived at 0835 (five minutes late) and were acknowledged and then walked through the small bar and placed at a table in the corner of the bar and next to a small curtain that blocked the door into the kitchen on the other side. I wasn't happy with the table so I went to the hostess and asked to be seated in the dining room, that I didn't make a reservation for the "bar". She said initially "well, you were late".....I told her fifteen minutes ago when i called to tell her we would be there she told me no problem. She said we would have to wait at the bar for a table, which we did. Bartender was great, cocktail great, and then twenty minutes later we were summoned for our dining room table. My guests proceeded to the table, and I stayed to pay our bar tab. When I met my guests at the table, we were seated in the far corner table in rear of dining room DIRECTLY next to wait station and a closet area for the servers. We were CONSTANTLY being bumped into.....always apologized for it...but it was a barrage.....and then the room/closet whatever it is was constantly being opened and closed directly next to us. The redeeming quality of the meal was our Server. A professional, knowledgeable guy (forgot his name, but he did mention he was from Australia) We all thought that the sides were on the salty side. The beef was good, we all had beef. Our biannual trip to NYC we always chose a NYC steak house. That are others that we return to , or I do on my own on my trips to NYC> Honestly, the overall experience, Not sure If I or we will go back. I could not have been more adamant with the requests and was expecting that the reservation made so long in advance would have been acknowledged and honored. And btw, there was absolutely NO MENTION of a birthday or anything. Very disappointed. There ARE better steakhouses in NYC. So Disappointed, and we did spent some $$$ there

Great food and service

By icorem |

After a bad start where we had to wait almost 25 minutes for our table, they apologized so many times and offered us so many on the house treats that we went out to the cold night after our meal with a big smile and a stuffed stomach. The steaks were all great and from the starters you must try the braised oysters and the polenta . We were given a taste of the duck lasagna which was excellent as well. Very much recommended.

Very good steak restaurant, great steaks to share

By Roli6374 |

The restaurant has a modern, elegant atmosphere. The food was excellent, the steak was tender and cooked to perfection. It was well worth the price! What surprised me, was that the chef came out by himself to every table to check if the food was ok. I've not seen that so far in a American restaurant. The service was very attentive and the waiters showed a good sense of humour. The only negative point was the noise level. If the restaurant is full it is hard to make a conversation (this is something we experienced in most of the NYC restaurants).

Another solid NYC steak joint...

By Mitchell S |

I was in NYC for business for two nights, and staying in the Lower East Village. Bowery Meat Company came up in a quick search for nearby steak houses, and they were able to squeeze me in as a solo diner last minute. Overall, the food was good, the service was decent, and the restaurant decor was fine. This place was another quality steakhouse in a city that has at least a dozen great spots for high quality meats and cocktails. Of all those places, this was not the best. But it certainly made for a good meal after a productive workday. I went with the the tuna sashimi as an appetizer (small, but tasty), the New York cut with broccolini for my main course, and the three flavors of ice cream for dessert. I had a very dirty Ketel One martini, and there was absolutely nothing to complain about. Each food item was prepared as intended, and my steak was delicious. The reason for just the four stars? I felt the restaurant lacked the character that other steak houses tend to have in NYC. Maybe this is unfair, but it is what it is. That was it... Would definitely return if I found myself back in the Lower East Side and was craving another steak (which is a likely repeat scenario).

Outstanding

Ambience, food and professionalism/personality of staff could not have been better. Fortunate that Josh Capon was " in the house" as his passion for excellence and gregarious personality enhanced the experience.

The Burger!

By Susan K |

The burger is as good as people say. And the fries! I wish I had had room for more-they were amazing.

Steak Dinner

By jmelarkin |

Great steaks. We had the tomahawk ribeye and the cote de boeuf. The extra ten days of aging on the tomahawk really made a difference. Great side dishes, appetizers and service.

Soooo loud......

By Wanderlust9876 |

I was looking forward to dinner with a group of folks I work with. I'd heard great things about the Bowery Meat Co. Initial impression was VOLUME. Good gravy, this place was beyond loud, making it impossible to hear the person sitting next to you. Apps for the table were ordered and were quite good. Duck wings were my favorite. Everyone at the table ordered steaks of some kind. Mine was good, seasoned and temped well. Another at our table ordered her steak black and blue, received one that was med rare. Not at all what she was wanting. Bread pudding for dessert was extraordinary. And that's saying a lot because I do not like bread pudding. Service was quick and attentive. 2 stars for ambience. 4 for the food/service. 3 overall.

Worst dinner in NYC...possibly worst ever!

By ASKCSN |

Our dinner at Bowery Meat Company had to be the worst meal in NYC if not my worst meal ever! I joined trip advisor because I felt obligated to share our dining experience. This is my first trip advisor post.... The service was about the only decent part of the evening. The Steak was terrible! The Caesar salad had nothing to do with a real Caesar salad.... it was bitter and made with radicchio lettuce and a watery dressing. It was freezing cold and the music was so loud you could not have a conversation. This Restuarant is off track in every direction. I don't think it will make it very long in this culinary capital but just in case you think about going there .... Don't Sorry but it was really that disappointing.

Top notch steak house in East Village...

By twkofler |

Travelling solo is not always easy restaurant-wise, as your risk to get low quality seating. Nothing like this happened at Bowery Meat Company, where my assigned waitress was very attentive in giving me a central table. Food was excellent, bothe the steak and the dessert, all washed down with some classy Malbec. Will return for sure.

Surprises kept coming but the Staff did great

By 299jurgend |

After a conference in the neighbourhood we asked about attendees where they were having dinner and some were at Bowery Meat, others were elsewhere. We (abt 4 pers) decided to join in with the crew at Bowery Meat aven though this was not expected. We barged in and the Staff was amazing, they immediately arranged tables and chairs so we could join in. And this on a bussy friday evening. The food & red wine were splendid as well. For all looking out for a great meal in a great setting... don’t doubt, go Bowery Meat.

Great Experience

By Thomas L |

Had dinner on Saturday night there were four of us. Got there about an hour before our reservation and had a few drinks at the bar. Bartender was excellent, made a few different drinks for us to experiment with and gave good recommendations. We were seated at about the time of our reservation. Ordered the Ricotta, Oysters and Meatballs. Would recommend all of them to anyone. Our waiter was attentive to our questions, gave us some suggestions for steaks. We ordered two of the T-bone Florentines. They only cook them to medium and I usually like my steak a little more well done. It didn't matter as the steak melted in my mouth and the seasoning on the crust was unbelievable. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone.

A good steakhouse

By NoEconomy |

Had dinner here with friends. This is your typical fine dining steak house. One guest in our party was vegetarian and there's obviously not much on the menu but they were very accomodating. Steaks were great, so was the service. If your wanting a cheap meal, this isn't the place and the cheapest wine we could see was $58 a bottle. If you don't mind opening your wallet, this is a great place for dinner.

Meat perfection

High quality meat! Great selections of meat and a very good wine list to make the dinner complete. Would definitely recommend!

5-Stars For Bowery Meat Company!

By TheBestReviews |

Not your Father's steakhouse! Hip and cool without trying too hard. Great service, beautiful chic interior, and very busy! Reservations are a must. The selection of steaks to chose from are gorgeous to view, but truthfully even the smallest bone-in ribeye is enough for most couples to share. Wedge salad and shrimp cocktail were perfect classic appetizers, and the potato hashbrown lived up to the hype. (You absolutely must order 1 hashbrown for every 2 people in your party!) Desserts looked amazing, but we were too full to order any. Highly recommend this restaurant down in Bowery!

What a GREAT steak!

By David L |

I ate here for a company dinner. They served a mixture of appetizers (all good) and then you choice of steak. I had a rib eye (medium) it was great. The French fries were way too good (I couldn’t stop eating them)

Simply Amazing

By BigB927 |

If you have read this much and haven't made a reservation yet, stop reading my review and book it now. The food, people and setting and second to none. My wife and I went here a few weeks ago on a trip to NYC. By the recommendation of my brother and a friend, we had reservations here and were told it was top notch. Now being from Chicago and no stranger to a great steak, I was excited to visit this establishment and honestly, it lived up to the hype, big time! Service was great and the food was top notch. While my wife was pregnant, I didnt think I would be able to order the things I truly like (oyster, steak tar tar) but Josh came over and I told him what I liked and he made it happen in portions perfect for me. I think we had 5 different apps and all were amazing. For dinner I had a steak that was perfectly cooked. I like my steaks rare and it was cooked to perfection. I'm not going to lie, I forgot what my wife had but she loved it as well. Dessert was top of the line as well and this was from someone who doesnt eat dessert much! Overall, an amazing place. Josh was a great guy and really wanted to know what we liked in meals and made it happen. You won't get better service and food. Like I said, if you haven't made a reservation yet, do it, you won't be disappointed!

Not worth the money

By Fifi123London |

Coming from London we are not hard done by for great steak places, however we were told we should absolutely give a steak house a go whilst in NY. We ended up at the Bowery on a recommendation. Whilst I wasn’t terribly disappointed the money we paid for this meal was obscene and definitely was NOT the best steak I have had. Average cooking and flavour Waitress was lovely and knew her stuff but it was slightly frustrating we were ‘encouraged’ to order starters as the main would be a wait, only to have bread and then samples brought out to the table. We had the chateaubriand to share - the bone in rib eye and the NY strip plus a selection of sides. All ok - but not the incredible I would expect for the price

Amazing !

By MarVal1966 |

We got very detailed attention. The martinis were excellent. The wine advise for my wife on point. Steak cooked to perfection, the sides and dessert beyond delicious. Great atmosphere, we are coming back !!!

Superb food and Service

By leny14 |

We spent our first night in New York in this restaurant and it exceeded our expectations. The meat choice was incredible. We chose to have the Tomahawk Steak, it was cooked perfectly and it melted in your mouth. This particular cut of meat is for two people. The service was second to non, the staff were very attentive and we wanted for nothing all night. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Wow, so many better places to go.

By ShaylaW |

My title says it all. The drinks we had were sent back and made with cheap Elijah Craig bourbon. The food was meh! Nothing special.

Very enjoyable

By MacGucc |

Group of twelve and everyone young and old enjoyed the great food . Rib eye was excellent and nice bar to have a pre dinner drink also . Service was great and overall the experience was very enjoyable .

Super Steaks

By Nittegaard |

We had great evening with cocktails, starters, steaks and vine for 4 persons for approx. 650$. The side dishes was interesting and well sized portions. The service was friendly and competent. After all a good dinning experience with short way to 5 stars.

Perfect Dinner!

By RV-Bethel |

We started with the Crispy Duck Wings and the Ricotta, both were Perfect! We then had a Big Bone-in Steak for two. The steak was cook to perfection and seasoned well. We had a side of Brussels Sprouts, amazing. I has a Rye Based cocktail which was great. Service was perfect!

A really great steak

By MJCGuildford |

We ate at Bowery Meat based on the recommendation of a local and it didn't disappoint. I had a fantastic shrimp cocktail to start and then we shared a filet on the bone and a NY strip steak between three, with a huge helping of spinach and a mountain of piping hot fries this was more than enough. The steaks were simply delicious. The atmosphere in the restaurant was buzzy and busy, a great vibe for a Thursday night. We will return.

Still dreaming about it!

By avhetrick |

Usually I stick to the fish, salad, chicken when i order out- thinking I will be healthy. My husband talked me into ordering the lamb chops and it was the best lamb i have had (sorry to all my Greek relatives). The sauce was made well and the lamb was juicy, not gamy at all. My husband loved his meal, steak of course, as well but i couldn't be bothered to taste it as i was loving my lamb chops! go there! its expensive by damn delicious. side note-could have been amazing across the board but noticed two beers on our check that we did not order. Going to hope this was an error and not intentionally to get us to over pay or something. so i have to mark down service a bit for that but up until that point, we were pleased with everything.

Spend your $$$$ somewhere else!

By Crazzzzs |

Over rated, over priced meal at Bowery Meat Company. Our wait staff was nearly non-existent. It took almost 30 minutes before our drinks arrived. John Taffer from Bar Rescue would've been all over them about that. Not acceptable. I don't mind spending good money for a good evening. This was NOT it!!!!

Good steaks!

By zzoggie |

We celebrated a bday here at this new steak establishment recommended by a friend. Great service and wine recommendations. We loved our wine pairing with our tomahawk steak which was cooked to perfection. The meat could do with a bit of sauce or seasoning as it was a tad bland but otherwise good. my friend order the rib eye which i thought tasted better than our tomahawk. all in all, i will come back again...

Bowery Meat

By John B |

Went here last night with a group of 5. Seated immediately on time. Great service and great looking restaurant. Hopefully you're coming here on an expense account......everything is expensive (drinks $17-$20, glasses of wine similar). Appetizers were all very good......duck wings, octopus, roasted oysters, meatballs. And the main meals were also very good, although pricey. My veal chop was $54. Reasonably sized but not gigantic by any means. Others had rib eye, salmon, NY Strip. Sides were creamed spinach, mushrooms, green beans and fries. Everything tasty. We shared a few desserts which were good too. Glad I wasn't paying !!

Cool neighborhood and good food

By Josh H |

First of all, the bartender who was from Minnesota made a wonderful old-fashioned. I came here with a group of friends, and the private dining room was perfect for the group. Because of our size, we chose to have a prepared menu in advance, and we had a family-style dinner. Everyone raved about the brussels sprouts and salmon. I’m not exactly sure what neighborhood this is, but it was a great stop along our trip. Afterwards, we ended up at a neighborhood bar called the Ghost Donkey. If you are looking for an after dinner drink, you may want to check this one out.

Magnificent

By Birgitta-Kenneth |

We had an absolutely fantastic dinner and if you are a meatlover just go visit. Delicious all the way from start till end. Wine and dessert as good as they come

Delicious Meal, But Lacking Attention to Detail

By Lindsey M |

I went to Bowery Meat Company for my fiance's birthday with another couple. All of the food was truly delicious - we loved the burrata, foie gras, duck lasagna, cote de boeuf, creamed spinach and mushrooms. The patatas bravas were a bit too rich for our taste, but the Brookies & Ice Cream was incredible. The waiter did bring out the patatas bravas on the house because we expressed interest in ordering them, but chose to go with the mushrooms instead - it was really nice of him! Overall, this meal was really special; however, during the meal, I went to the hostess stand to let them know that it was my fiance's birthday and they said they'd let my waiter know. The dessert came out without a candle, and I was incredibly disappointed. For a restaurant of this caliber, I expected that this would have been taken care of appropriately. When I let the hostess know what happened as we were leaving, she just looked at me apologetically, but did not offer to rectify the situation in anyway. It's a shame that such a great dinner ended so poorly.

Good but too expensive

By Relu B |

The steak was good, high quality meat. The only complaint is that they use too much salt. Ricotta was yummy, same was octopus. But the total price was a bit too much... Really unexpected.

Great Modern Steakhouse

By DCoro |

One of the best steakhouses in NY, as most of the restaurants in the city the noise level is high, but it is something you have to get used to if you like going to restaurants in NY. So far it has never dissapointed me, on appetizers my favorites are the Wagyu Meatballs, Burrata and Steak Tartare, pastas are delicious, Duck Lasagna is amazing and is supposed to be for 2 but it could easily feed 3, and all the steaks are great. I've never tried the big ones that come to share. The only thing i would say it has space for improving is the wine list, it is pricey and could have a lot more options below the $100

Nice Alternative to Traditional Steak House

By Crooow |

Wanted a good steak, but in a little more modern setting. Gave Bowery Meat Company a try, as it was walking distance to our concert for the evening, and am extremely happy we did. Grilled Ribeye with blistered shishito peppers on top was one of the best steaks I have had.

Great steak!

By Penni E |

My husband and I went to this restaurant for a late dinner (reservations are needed) and it was a lovely, but expensive, experience. The service and the specialty drinks are worth it! It was less than .05 mile from our hotel and we were glad we found this gem. The steaks were amazing. It is a bit trendy but if you don’t pay attention to it you’ll fit in just fine.

Excellent steak and oysters

By JohnBrentwood |

I read many of the reviews and wasn’t sure how this was going to turn out. It was an excellent meal. Oysters, shrimp, and steak were top notch. Be sure to get the hash brown side! It was a Sunday evening and not overly busy but the service was solid. Ambiance is great. I would certainly recommend to anyone staying in this area of Manhattan. Bread pudding dessert was also a nice ending. Expensive meal but worth it in my opinion.

There are Better Steakhouses in NYC

By Donna M |

This place lacks ambiance and is mediocre at best not to mention, overpriced. There are much better Steakhouses in NYC.

Good food, a steakhouse but expensive

By Adrian T |

It was a great meal, freshly shucked oysters, some delicious devilled eggs and a perfectly cooked strip steak with two sides. All great. But...oysters were around 4 dollars each, one egg, two halves devilled were 25 dollars, and the steak was around 50 wi each side 12 dollars. Very expensive. Very good. Dinner for two excluding drinks was 100 dollars a head. They do have a great wine list.

Cramped, noisy, distracted service with breathtaking prices!

By DAPJr112 |

Went here with the husband on a Saturday night after a cocktail party nearby. We arrived early for our reservation, and were told we had to wait (although we could see several empty tables for two). The bar was packed with people eating and there were a few tables empty, but no, we were told we couldn't sit down with our drinks, they are reserved for diners, okay. So we found a small corner of the bar to stand in and ordered a glass of wine - but wow, the only cab available by the glass costs $25 - it was a harbinger of things to come!! We were seated a few minutes later at a banquette, but the tables for two are very small. We ordered a bottle of wine from the wine list - which was extensive but very expensive... the wine was brought to our table - but not decanted as it was at other tables, I'm not sure why.... and then the waiter disappeared. The wine had already been refilled twice when he finally reappeared. We ordered the tomahawk steak for 2 ($165) which we'd seen at the bar and some vegetables. When they finally arrived there was barely any space left on the table. The steak was a little salty but good - but it doesn't compare to Wolfgang's or Benjamin's. Meantime the waiter refilled out glasses of mineral water with tap water.... When we finally got the bill it came to a little over $500 before tip!! The place is pretty noisy, my advice is to go to Benjamin's or Wolfgang's......

The midwest does it better

By patricia w |

Heard great things about this place. Service was good but steaks not so much. Ours was chewy with gristle on the ends. We had the fondant potato - don't recommend. We both grew up in the midwest and I lived for many years in Chicago. Chicago steaks rule! Noise wasn't too bad. other couple had other things -liver pate and a hamburger. They were much happier with their choices than we were.

Wow. Simply wow.

By Explorer_Gal2014 |

Came here yesterday with a few friends to celebrate my birthday. Cozy atmosphere. Took a while for our server to come but once he came he was great! He knew everything about about every cut and what to recommend. My husband and I wanted to share the Tomahawk but he likes it medium rare and I needed it medium well since I'm pregnant. Server offered to have it done first medium rare for my husband and then recook whichever pieces I wanted to how I wanted. Best of both worlds! I also didn't want creamy spinach so he offered sautéed spinach. Beverages were always topped up so no one ever had an empty glass and table top was always cleaned up from any dropped food or spillage. Chef even came out to check we were happy with everything. Food was awesome and service was spectacular. Would definitely come again (the medium rare steaks looked so delicious)! Oh! And apparently they do their own baking! Somehow an ice cream cake appeared and it was just perfect to end the night! Five stars!

We came from out of town looking forward to great New York steakhouse experience with our daughter, who lives in NOHO. Based on the reviews, we thought we hit gold. Wow, were we disappointed. The atmosphere lived up to our expectations, but the service was only average and the dinners (2 filets and a NY Strip) were below average. But the biggest shock was the bill. 5 Star bill for a 3/3- Star experience. A word to the wise. Keep looking.

In case of celebrations

Food and service are high level, no doubts. Prices are in line with offered quality. You are asked to select the meat cut by the waiter before ordering, which is nice. The bar is quite narrow and the staff continously pass through clients. Enjoy.

Impeccable Service

By Catalaq |

The service is impeccable: attentive, friendly, helpful, cheerful and accommodating in the best possible way. The restaurant atmosphere is upscale, hip and buzzy. The restaurant and its restroom facilities are squeaky clean. There was a refreshing amount of space between the tables resulting in a very luxurious and private environment. My dining companion ordered two beers. The side dishes were imaginative, delightful and very high quality. There was an extensive wine collection. We ordered seafood (stone crab claw, shrimp cocktail and both East/west oysters—all outstanding), Fall salad (unusual and good), purée garlic mashed potatoes (the best I’ve eaten). The house kindly offered fresh ricotta on toast (imaginative, tasty) on the house (a $19 value). Our steaks were 20oz. bone-in dry-aged ribeyes cooked medium rare topped with blistered sishito peppers. This is where I was, sadly, forced to remove one star - the steaks were very high quality, perfectly moist and nicely presented BUT they had very firm texture like strip sirloins, were unevenly salted with a slight bitterness from the char which unfortunately marred an overall lovely dining experience. Be advised I am a highly experienced diner with a deep background in high end steak houses like Delmonicos; Keens; Peter Lugers and the like. I did not give them any opportunity to correct the steaks which is surely on me because I dislike making a fuss given how attentive and kind the managers and servers were. We finished with coffee and were offered complimentary salted chocolate covered ice cream balls. Based on the many other fine qualities of this restaurant I do think most people would love it. Our diner tab for two before tip ran $322 which was very fair value for the experience offered.

Great Steak!

Bowery Meat is all about the STEAK! The ambiance is great and they have a great cocktail and wine list! My rib eye was cooked perfectly, the creamed spinach was amazing I can’t wait to go back!

Fabulous

By CookingWithSugar |

Loved our meal. Everything was delicious. The cocktails, the steaks, sides and desserts were all fabulous. Can’t wait to go back.

Excellent Steaks!

By denbro |

Our hostess seated us right away for our reservation! Restaurant a bit noisy but bearable as the food is excellent. Shared the Bone-in Filet and the Prime New York Strip steak, done to our liking. Sides of brussel sprouts, whipped potato pure and sour cream&onion hash browns! What an enjoyable experience!

Nice, upscale steakhouse in the East Village

By c114nyc |

We got to the restaurant right before our 6:00 pm reservation, but decided to sit at the bar for a drink or two first. The bartenders were very nice....the bartender listened to what my date liked, and suggested a Japanese whiskey which he didn't think he would like but did. The restaurant started to get crowded, so the hostess came over and brought us to our seats. We ordered the Duck Lasagna for 2 and the Charred Hanger Steak. The lasagna was good (not a huge meat lasagna fan), but the charred hanger steak was delicious! The waiter for the table next to us told the table about the specials, and our waiter didn't even mention specials to us. He seemed annoyed he was working---I ordered a Moscow Mule and said the bartender at the bar crushed up fresh fruit for me in the drink, he said "if they're not too busy they will"---isn't a bartender's job to serve wht the client orders? I got the drink I wanted, but didn't appreciate that comment. After that,we ordered some apple crumble dessert with ice cream---it was heaven on a dish. As we left the waiter put two complimentary chocolate dessert balls in a dish on the table---perfect way to end the meal.

Wonderful Meal

By lilitigres |

Delightful server delivered yummy amuse bouche consisting of a pesto rice ball and some Italian meat with focaccia bread- the former was tasty I did not indulge in the latter. You can skip the ricotta starter, I've had better other places as theirs was tasteless but DO NOT skip the House Made Ricotta Ravioli, the Tomahawk Ribeye, the Hash Brown Potato or the Cookies N' Cream Cake for dessert.

Disappointed

By jwdinaspen |

Atmosphere - nothing special and music way too loud. Food - Ok, but my steak was brought with wrong temperature which they quickly addressed by microwaving it I assume....the desert of Cheesecake I could buy in a supermarket so less than impressed. The Service impeccable in style but the product they were working with is really average....just nothing to write home about.

Expensive but good

By Lemmy75 |

Very lively restaurant with the core being in stakes. Had one of best baby lasagnas made from duck meat as a starter. Absolutely delicious. New York steak as the main and it was really good. Nice staff. This place works for business dinners as well.

Go For Dessert

By BrintonRMB |

I had the hanger steak and it was chewy. I know that cut is more like a flank steak but for a steakhouse I expected more. Typically high NY prices. And not the best steak I have ever had. Stiff service. The highlight was dessert. The peanut butter cake was delicious. And the s'mores sundae was outstanding!!! Creative and perfect for sharing. Go somewhere else for dinner.

Steak & more

By NGBe |

Nice restaurant trying to look more vintage than it actually was. No surprises in the menue. Wine list extensive but rather pricey especially for the young and mediocre french offered - aligned with the general audience there I guess. Steak was excellent. Sides too. I adored the thick cut fries and the cream spinach. Impeccable service. Will it make it on my shortlist - don't think so but it's unfair without having it visited at second time.

Good food and casual atmosphere

By eliza531 |

On a weekend visit during the Christmas season. Took our sons who live in NYC. It was very busy and a bit loud, but the service was very good once they got going. Excellent steak and sides - no one ate any of the non-steak entrees so can't speak to that. Filet was excellent. Dessert mediocre. During COVID times, all the restaurants require proof of vaccination. And they actually check it against your ID as opposed to other places I have gone where they barely look at the card or app.

Amazing steak & Oysters

By Kylie G |

As first timers to NYC we were recommened Josh Capon's restaurant so we started our Bowery Meat Co night with cocktails at the bar before being ushered to a corner booth. Broiled oysters were amazing and although we were ordered modest NYC strips, Josh himself came out and convinced us to try the Tomahawk. It was AMAZING, so tender and juicy. More meat than two (or four) people should eat but we couldn't stop! Wine selection was good and our servers were very personable and attentive (australians do attract australians when o.s.). Would love to come back here or try one of Josh's other restaurants.

Very very disappointing!

By MGTJ47 |

The dining room: The noise level is ridiculous! A decent conversation cannot be held. If you like to scream at each other, that’s the place! The steak: I don’t think it is all wrong to expect that preparing a perfect steak should be a core competency of a steak house.... we ordered medium rare and after almost one hour (!) the double ribeye came medium.... Sure we told the waiter and the manager on duty offered desserts and grappa on the house immediately, but the overall experience was very disappointing. The meat was just average and nothing spectacular and i seriously doubt that our cut was really 100 days dry aged.... for this it was not tasty and tender enough.

Stellar

By Gordon F |

I look forward to returning. The service, cocktails, food and decor were all on point. I would take friends, wife or clients.

Perfect Cook, Perfect Steak

By Kağan K |

I do love this place. I like to eat steak between rare and medium, and chef understood me perfectly. It was delicious. Atmosphere was good but noisy.

A Social Media Monster

By Malcolm C |

I can't even begin to imagine how or why this thoroughly mediocre restaurant has been endorsed by so many major New York publications and roundly patted on the head by social media reviewers. It was one of the most mediocre and over-priced meals I've ever eaten anywhere and a real wake-up call to how the NYC restaurant scene is feeding off of its own self-regard rather than making customers happy. Ditto NYC's food media, but there I suspect it's a question of ten cents a dance, i.e., you invite me an d I

Glad to have finally tried it

By TruebritSingapore |

Staff were a standout for us the whole evening, from greeters to waiters to sommelier. The decor wasn't my personal favourite, and the aircon struggled to keep the restaurant cool all night (was Saturday 23rd, a brutally hot day), but everything else was very good indeed. The 4 of us chose differently: oysters, foie gras, salad, then bone in filet, NY strip, etc. In what was a really nice touch-the manager brought over a small sample of the duck lasagne for each of us between courses, having heard me dithering over whether to have it. Desserts were ridiculously indulgent, particularly the smores. BMC forms the 3rd point of stunning 50m Bowery triangle now, with Saxon & Parole and Cherche Midi the other 2 standouts across the road. Would certainly return.

Awesome-Fantastic-Superb

By BigEasy16 |

Our family was visiting NY and celebrating my youngest son’s graduation from high school. Both of my sons are huge steak eaters/lovers. I brought my oldest son to NY and we ate at Keene and had a very negative experience with service and food...so was gun shy on trying another NY steakhouse. But my sons insisted and I did my “homework” and chose Bowery Meat Company. Awesome ambience and decor! Fantastic service...did I say mention Fantastic service? DeLance was our server and he was THE MAN! I am absolutely positive without a doubt the best server I have ever had in my life. Glass was never empty, never a crumb on the table, clean silverware for each dish, and great description of the steaks, dishes, and sides! Lastly, superb customer service. Everyone from the hostess to the doorman, we were treated like royalty! The food has a price but well worth the price (such as the wagyu strip and dry aged porterhouse were amazing-and the creamy mashed potatoes)! Thank you for the celebrations fo my son and the complimentary desserts! DeLance, you are freaking amazing with your service!

Interesting and quirky steakhouse

By Sara J |

If you're looking for a quirky, modern place to eat that challenges your perception of food, I would definitely recommend the Bowery Meat Company. We were sent here on the premise of it being a steakhouse which also caters for vegetarian requirements. Normally such words would send chills into my fathers' soul (he does not believe in "rabbit food"), but we decided to give it a go and it was an excellent choice. From my cauliflower steak (a starter which in my mind was the size of a good healthy main) to my dad's calamari - which he proclaimed some of the tenderest he had ever had - the food did not disappoint. Our mains were just as good: for me, a soft white fish sprinkled with toasted nuts for added texture and taste, and for my dad a perfectly cooked steak. Not many places can cater so well for both avid meat-lovers and vegetarians, but the Bowery Meat Company managed it! The service was also fantastic, everyone was so friendly. The only slight downside was the noise level - evidently the restaurant is very popular, but at our table we could barely hear each other speak. Just as well, as for the most part we were just chewing!

Fantastic Steak...

By YG-USA |

The restaurant offers the combination of fantastic steaks without the stuffiness of the traditional upscale steakhouse. The service was excellent, the options of appetizers both unique and delicious. Meat was seared and cooked to perfection. We all enjoyed and will certainly go back....

Nice evening and fabulous steak

By Criwman |

Great service and perfectly cooked steaks. Not cheap, however, worth the price. Highly recommended! Always again...

Terrible.

By Barak L |

Made reservation for my daughters and I for holiday dinner. 7:30. Asked for circular booth when making rez. Get there at 7:27 and open circular booth. Pompous host makes us wait and give table to another party. Tells us next booth is ours. Then gives it away to someone who arrives after us and sits us at bar. Pompous hostess (all 25 years younger than me) tells me to work on anger management issues. Food ok but so much attitude!!!! Food ok. Life too short for host and hostess in 20s who can't be polite and honor rez. Like my mom told me when you are late you disrespect yourself.

good food, good ambience, but sevenrooms reservation service a joke.

By 347mikep347 |

meal great, service good, but a reservation mistake cost me extra $150. trying to reach management and call restaurant cost me 3yrs of my life, after spending $700 there too. just really annoying and unfortunate. no one answers emails or returns calls at restaurant and good luck with sevenrooms service. they stole my $150.

Mixed Night

By Sockster |

We were an hour late for our reservation, but we called and they held our table. We were seated in a great booth and eagerly awaited our dinner. Our last steak here was the most memorable from 2015, so we were excited. It took about 15 minutes for the waiter to come to our table, and another 20 for the drinks to arrive after he took our order. An order of broiled oysters took over a half hour to arrive at our table, and were burnt. When we asked the waiter, he said, "the breadcrumbs take a long time to cook". Seriously? They were ok, not fabulous. Our other app was a zucchini carpaccio which had great taste and texture, but was a small portion. We ordered the Tomahawk Steak Pittsburgh Med Rare and it came out very Rare. When we sent it back, our waiter said, the kitchen would never get it med rare....but they heated it perfectly. A side of potatoes bravas was delicious (great sauce), but our side of cauliflower steak arrived cold and mushy. The general manager was aware of what was going on and offered to change our waiter. We declined as all we had left was dessert. A dessert of cheesecake was nothing special but the sommelier bought us an excellent after dinner wine on the house. All in all, it was a very disappointed experience. Service was terrible for an establishment servicing such good food. He was non caring, had no "heart" and really didn't care about us. The food overall was fine, but nothing you couldn't get somewhere else where you'd get a lot better service for your money. Needless to say, we were disappointed.

Disappointed

By Anthony C |

Expensive, wine very large mark up. Staff not seem interested unless you looked like you were spending a fortune $335 for two is not enough? Steak came medium in European terms although medium-rare asked for. I asked if medium and medium rare were different in US compared to America. Waiter acted as though we should have been grateful just for being there. Food was decent enough but spoilt as our choice for one decent meal for our single night stay in New York. Lobster Place in Chelsea Market was infinitely better experience.

Solid steak house with lots of options

By 853mike |

Came in for dinner with friends. Very friendly staff. Nice wine list as well as variety of signature cocktails. Best steak tartare I’ve ever had! Solid cuts of meat. But the best part is you have to order the bread pudding !! It will feed four but it’s the most delicious dessert I’ve ever had !

Birthday cake

By FDingwall |

Went here last night for some dessert as it was my Birthday on Friday and I hadn't had any cake yet! We were greeted very warmly and the staff were all so friendly and nice! I had the triple chocolate cake and a really nice glass of Pinot Noir.... Both delicious. My boyfriend had the s'mores desert and his was delicious too, the only thing that was missing on mine was some hot chocolate sauce, my boyfriend has kind enough to share his with me but it wasn't really that hot ... Could of been warmer! All in all I really enjoyed the experience, it's so lovely and cosy inside too and the Music playing was also really good! I loved the atmosphere and I will Be visiting soon for a full course dinner :-)

Very nice steak house with wonderful staff

By Whenintown |

Had a business dinner in the bar area with was great as it was not too loud. The main part of the restaurant would not have worked well for.a dinner discussion due to the noise. The streaks were very good and presented well. Great find.

What a burger!

By Don G |

Great burgers. great buns, great toppings. I'd come back on a special occasion to try the steak and see if it's as good as Peter Luger. Not the best fries I've ever had: too salty, too skinny, got cold quickly. Cheesecake dry. Noisy room, but good scene. Wonderful service both at front desk and table.

Not a good experience!

By Greg7 |

Went here for dinner July 8th with a party of 7 . Firstly we waited, and waited for service and only got any after calling someone over after 30 mins at our table. The Starters were good, my Shrimp was delicious, but the main courses which included Chateau Briande and other cuts of meats left a lot to be desired. The lighting was set very low in the restaurant so actually seeing the meat that was served was all but impossible, but what I remember most about it was the amount of fat in it. The real clanger however was getting back to the UK to receive a credit card statement which clearly shows that someone there tampered with the amount of service charge I added to the check! I am following this up. Not an establishment I would return to..

Another excellent meal

By Peter R |

Had an enjoyable recent business dinner here. The selection of items on the menu is excellent. We shared oysters, foie gras, deviled eggs, etc., to start. Then did major steaks washed down with a Napa cab. The quality of the steaks was outstanding. Sides are also good. And the waitress was really delightful, very perky and fun. The only minor glitch was being showered by shards of glass when the sommelier smashed a glass behind me with barely an apology. But apart from this, cannot fault this restaurant for its quality and finesse.

Good steaks but not much more

By Adinel T |

The place tries to be a revival of the classical NY steakhouse, with a modern twist. Great bone-in ribeye, I liked the chillies on top. The meat was a little bit too salty from the kitchen. The service, however, is "good enough".

Your kidding me, right?

By SSI Traveler |

What a disappointment! Let's get to the point early on, $450.00 (with tip); 4 people, 5 mixed drinks, 2 appetizers, 1 salmon and 3 steaks & 2 sides. Don't be surprised when I tell you the meat ball (2) appetizers were the best item of the night. It's just not right to charge this much (shame on me for not looking before I leapt) for mediocre food and service with an attitude. Go knowing well that you've been warned.

Birthday Dude!!! DNR!!!

By EWR1400 |

Perhaps it is the NY steakhouse that is dead - then again maybe it’s just Bowery Meat Company that is DOA... I suppose that all restaurants in New York have been reduced to the same - get them in, give them the check- model, maybe it’s wrong to single out this one. But it was my brother’s 30th birthday tonight. We ordered cocktails - only one came on time. We had to cancel the other 3 to accommodate the wine we ordered. Appetizers - only one of three arrived on time. Then two bottles of wine - the 2nd took 25 minutes to come to the table. Only 2 of 4 main plates arrived on time. Then the desert, was the saddest scoop of ice cream I have ever seen, and an underdressed strawberry cheesecake. The price tag - 480$ for 4, and sub par service.... pick another steakhouse..

Proper NY steakhouse - loud and buzzing

By HuggieSRL |

Recommended by my son this was just the place I was looking for. As soon as you enter you feel the atmosphere of people having a great time. It's a bit loud but that adds to the experience. This is what us Londoners want when we visit NY. The teaks are big and juicy but well seasoned and cooked. All the food was excellent and the service was top class. Great wine list but pricey. Overall a great experience but good things don't come cheap and this was not cheap. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Great Experience, Great Food

By 10998_roebling |

Overall we had a great time. Their burger was great; the meat was very aged and had a "funky" flavor but really liked it. The Tomahawk was cooked perfectly although was slightly disappointed with the charred exterior. It was definitely pricey but the staff was on point. Great work Chef Josh!

So sad that we had to rush to get to our show!!! One word= OUTSTANDING!!

By Rosesuth1960 |

Lovely and romantic atmosphere with an outstanding staff! Egg and eggs starter was easily delish! Then, on to the Chateaubriand for two.... they were just a tad late on the Chateaubriand Sauce Chasseur.... the only flaw and not a minor one. The meat was perfect! Still...... wish we had time to try dessert! Our other couple, the locals, brought us here as she needed to try the Ricotta starter and was very happy! We treated them, as they had entertained us all day on a whirlwind Christmas visit to NYC. I would return just to try the menu again, but would be sure to not have as many cocktails that day. This bit of cheer lead to me not even being aware of the sauce mistake until they brought it. BUT it made the dish go from good but odd, to outstanding!

Fabulous

By Bersa |

Went in as a walk in and got a seat, my host and server were some of the most kind people I’ve ever met. And the food suggestion of a hash brown with the ribeye was a excellent choice.

Perfect

By ashley r |

This place is the perfect steak restaurant. From the cocktails, to the oysters, to the crab claw cocktail the size of my fist, to the monster bone-in filet and then to dessert it was all 5 stars for me. I would eat here every night is I could afford it. My meal is always sooo good, I could kiss the chef on the mouth.

Pure heaven

By Mr-Wanderful |

Amazing, amazing, amazing!!! Cote de Boeuf was the star of the show. All of the food and drink here is to die for. A must if looking for decent steak and great ambience. I'll be be going back soon! Bravo....

Good steak house

By Phil S |

I went to dinner here with a friend on a Thursday evening. The first thing I noticed about the place was the nice decor. The reception staff were very friendly and seated us early. Our waiter was also super friendly and informative. We started with oysters and a half bottle of champagne of Krug which was nice to see on the menu. Both were very nice except it took so long to get the champagne we had finished the oysters before it arrived. Our next dish was the deviled eggs which were as good as any deviled eggs but not great value at $25 dollars for 2 halves. We finished by sharing the strip steak and a side of sour cream and onion hash brown. The steak was perfectly cooked and delicious but somewhat misleading as there was only 1 small "roasted shallot" when the menu described "shallots" (plural) and relatively expensive for strip steak. The "hash brown" (think Eastern European latke) was good but I think it was expensive for $12 when you are already paying $52 for a steak.

Did not meet our expectations

By Birgit1210 |

We had reserved a table some time in advance; all the more the disappointment that we received a mini-table right at the entrance, on which there was hardly room for a steak for 2 as well as the side dishes. The table next to us (also small) remains unoccupied during our stay (a good 2 hours) (could have been put together without any problems to be able to offer a reasonable table size) Service friendly but a bit hectic (the restaurant was well attended) Quality of food - American Wagyu good but not outstanding. Side dishes average, the portion of crispy fingerling potatoes $21 a joke. $570 for a steak for 2 people including side dishes and 3 glasses of wine - we expected more. There are better addresses for a good steak in NY ..

Shoe store

By MillWac |

$320 American Wagyu “medium rare” we were told was $220 when we ordered. Who in their right mind would order American Wagyu if the Japanese Wagyu was $30 more. Manager ridiculed me when I complained. Told me he spoke to chef and they all agree this was in fact the best steak in New York. “Sir this is an adidas.” Wait staff disappeared after dropping this clunker I had to tell busser. We did get round of free drinks but I expect an apparently $320 steak to be cooked to order.

Amazing Dinner

By Steve |

Great all around evening. Ambiance is good, service was fabulous, and everything we ordered was delicious. Interesting menu for appetizers and a sold selection of steaks. Everyone in our group enjoyed their meals, will definitely be back!

Best steak I've ever had!

By Martin O |

Easily the best steak I've ever had! We knew from the moment we arrived here we had made a good decision. We knew it would be expensive before we arrived so there's was no surprises in that regard. The excellent food, staff & atmosphere ensured that any number on the bill was worth it! I ordered the Prime New York Strip with roasted shallot while my girlfriend ordered the Filet Mignon with garlic confit with one side of fries - we've visited steakhouses around the world and were both blown away! Perfection! Throughout our meal, we were presented with small appetisers compliments of the chef which we thought were a nice touch. Would highly recommend this restaurant to any steak lovers visiting New York.

Delicious

By abafcb1969 |

Visited for my birthday. Always find American steak houses confusing, above all use of ounces, but also different named cuts to uk. Anyway, lovely ambience, delightful staff (Christina very patient with all my questions!) and delicious food. We chose most expensive steak but it was absolutely delicious. Thoroughly recommend

A highlight of any trip to NY

By Carl_The_Great |

My colleague and I selected this restaurant for our final night in NY after a successful business trip and we could not have been more pleased with our choice. From the immaculate and dutiful service to the food to the wine this place was a treat on every level. We started our meal with cocktails, accompanied by one of their specials - scampi in scampi sauce - a starter of wonderful delicacy and flavor. For the main, accompanied by a superb French Pinot Noir, was the steak. My colleague had the veal while I had the filet mignon. Superb meat, superbly cooked. Could not have been happier. To finish with we attempted desert, my colleague wisely opted for the sorbet while I attempted the apple pie - a desert that was at least double the size of anything I was capable of eating at that point in the meal. This place was amazing. Make sure you visit.

Had a Wonderful Evening!

By evianlives |

The two women at the front were very friendly and welcoming. We were given a nice booth along the far wall. The atmosphere was fantastic. Servers were extremely attentive and informative. We had the burrata appetizer and the crab claws. My husband and son ordered the tomahawk steak for two with spinach and mashed potatoes. I ordered the filet with bordelaise sauce. I asked if it could be cooked in between medium and medium well. I have to say, the filet was perfectly cooked. It was absolutely delicious. The tomahawk was served medium and was so tasty. The Sommelier helped us to pair the dinner with a nice Italian red and a great night was had by all. Can not wait to return.

Great Food and Service

By mfior |

My brother and our SO's had dinner there last Saturday night. We had a good time and great food. We appreciated the attention we recevied from the staff and the fact that Chef Capon came over to say hello when we told the hostess the restaurant was on my SIL's bucket list. My brother and I are lifelong Giants season ticket holders and know Chef Capon is a big Giants fan also. That made his visit even more special. The ladies had the Tomahawk steak for two, I had a strip and my brother rack of lamb. All were exceptionally prepared and very tasty. The sides and appetizers were great also.

Fabulous extravaganza dinner!

By Stephan |

Prices are high but quality of the meat and services were higher! Make sure to reserve! If you like meat, they have some of the best we have eaten in the USA. The manager Mohamed made sure we had the best experience with our guest that evening! Pricey but highly suggested, at least once.

Great cocktails, steaks, and more

By Jess Stadler |

Wow - this was a phenomenal meal. The only reason I'm giving 5 stars is because we made a reservation at 8pm for 8-10 people and didn't get seated until 9pm.... when we did get sat. There wasn't enough room for our party. HOWEVER, Bowery made up for this by bringing our table 2 of the ricotta pomegranate starters on the house AND gave us a complimentary bread pudding for the table at the end of the meal for dessert. The bread pudding is to die for and shareable for up to 8 people. Highly recommend! Shared the porterhouse steak 40oz (med rare) with sautéed spinach. Steak was cooked perfectly and it was tender. The fattier pieces of the steak melted in your mouth. No tough or chewy-ness. We had an array of sauces at the table to try with our steaks. I recommend getting the hash browns as a side. Probably the best hash brown dish I've ever had. Oysters from the sea food tower had options of east coast on one side and west coast on the other. The shrimp were huge! Definitely a pricey dinner for the amount of people and food but worth every penny. There are a ton of great steak options and i hope to come back and try a different cut of meet next time. Great cocktails as well :)

Bowery Meat

By Eric L |

Saturday night, I took a group of seven people to Bowery Meat for a steak dinner and it did not disappoint. We started with drinks and appetizers and then moved onto the main meal. I had a rib eye that was cooked the way I ordered it and was delicious. At the end of the meal, Josh Capon, the executive chef came over and made sure to ask how our meal was and then gave us desert on him! If you like steak you have to try this place out.

Cote de Boeuf

By Howard D |

Advised to eat the Cote de Boeuf here and wasn't disappointed. Comfortable contemporary restaurant in the East Village with good service, great wines and for me superb food. We were seated in the private dining area and the beef was cooked and served perfectly.

Pricey but worth it

By Joni P |

The meat here is the best you can buy. My husband had the rib eye and it was KILLER. The environment was very pleasant and everything was great. Super quality food but you will pay for it!! Five star everything.

Poor and very expensive

By Davide |

We were not impressed at all. Food is only average and the service is very slow. We waited 45 minutes before being served. We were eating outside in a sort of so called patio but that was tue entrance of a condominium where also members of a gymn were entering. It is not a joke... And the bill ? Over the normal prices you may pay in new york for better places . We are not recommend it at all.

Amazing! still think about it now.

By SUK1987 |

We went here on our last night in NYC. We has such a good meal, everyone enjoyed it. The steak,Burger and pork were truly perfect!

Great dinner!

By Dr Elisa S |

Excellent food! Excellent service! Food was fresh and delicious and our servers were so attentive and friendly! Restaurant was very loud and crowded. Reason for 4/5 and not 5/5 was ‘loudness’ (often hard to hear each other speak) and cost. Very very $$$$

Friends in town

By Cory M |

Service was 10/10. We couldn't have been happier with our waiter as she made sure we had everything we needed. I got the ribeye medium rare and it was way too charred on the outside and ruined the steak. Glad I tried the restaurant but I'm not sure I would come back with so many other quality steak options in the city.

Excellent Meal, Solid Ambiance

By alsmith031 |

I was on a recent business trip, enjoying a night of no dinner obligations and selected Bowery Meat, a short walk from my SOHO hotel. I sat in the bar on a relatively quiet and chilly night. The service was observant and appropriate, attentive when necessary leveraging their entire team, but aloof enough to not make me feel pressured. I ordered some oysters to accompany a pre-meal cocktail, and enjoyed several helpings of their complimentary bread (so good!). I had a perfectly prepared New York steak, along with the hash brown, both of which hit the spot. In between the oysters and my entree, the manager brought me a complimentary taste of their duck lasagne, which was delightful. I will be back here for sure!

OMG This Restaurant is The Best

My daughter and I went here for a special night out as we were leaving New York the next day. It was amazing. The food was magnificant and the staff and head chef were fantastic. Cameron was the best waiter you could ever have. He was exceptional. The Steak melts in your mouth, the duck lasagne is incredible and the oysters were the best I had ever had. The whole experience was wonderful and I would definitely go back.

A Smart Manager, Unfriendly Front Desk, and Great Meal

By DAdadNYC |

There are many Great Steak Houses in NYC, my son choose this one for his birthday dinner beside the party. The host in the front is so rude as we were 10 minutes earlier than the booking at 6pm on Sunday. We were rudely told to sit at the bar with my 14 years old son. I was angry. When the bartender asked me about what to drink, I told her what happened. The bartender immediately told the manager and we were immediately led to our table. The restaurant is only half filled. Funny.....! You should be glad the guest show up 20 minutes early. The manager still kind of avoid the apology but end with giving us an extra appetizer. We ordered 3 appetizers and 2 entree and they were good! The steak is wonderful! If the host was not there, the restaurant deserves a 5 star rating.

Exactly as expected - good service great meat. Had the Tomahawk steak experince and loved it. Other plates just as good- too many fries for sure

Great service, good steak, pretty $$$$

By Andrew Owen |

Had a wonderful waitress here who really knew the menu, showed and explained the steaks in great detail to me - it was really appreciated and added to the experienced. Settled on a filet mignon with the bone which was pretty good, but when the cheque came, not sure the price reflected the quality. Good but not the best.

Dinner for 11

By Charleen J |

Bowery meats was a nice place to visit. I must say, the food was really good. My faves were the rice balls, meat balls, and ricotta cheese with bread. All three apps were awesome! I got the lamb chops for the entree. Broccolini and whipped potatoes, amazing! I was stuffed and still ordered the s'mores Sunday but I couldn't finish it. I ordered a speciality drink, something call "Honey I Dew" and it was awful. It tasted like gasoline (no exaggeration) so I sent it back but they changed the drink without a charge. Also, a few people in the group ordered their signature dish the Brewery Steak (I believe that's what it's called) and they were all sick the next morning. This is were they lost many points.

Steak Dinner to die for !

By Wvmike57 |

This weekend was my first time staying in downtown NY City . Since I’m on the Keto Diet my friend suggested the Bowery Meat Company . The service was excellent and the steak out of this world. We had the 40 day aged Ribeye . All the staff were friendly and really took care of us. So if you are planing to be downtown NY Make a reservation! You won’t regret it !

FIRST NOT LAST VISIT TO AN EXCELLENT STEAKHOUSE IN NYC

By Jim F |

We were fortunate to secure reservations on Christmas Eve. The menu immediately lets you know Bowery is more than a steakhouse. We tried several appetizers, the most memorable were the foie gras with chicken liver pate, the crispy duck legs and the broiled oysters. We had several selections of beef, the New York Strip, the bone in ribeye and the Bowery steak, all cooked to perfection with an exterior crust. The Bowery steak is unique to Bowery and excellent in flavor. The sides we liked best were the Hash Browns with onions, cream spinach, and mushrooms. We had three different desserts and could not rank them, all three were excellent. To make all of the food so enjoyable was the service. The staff are well trained and interested in your pleasure and enjoyment. Definitely another worthy steakhouse in a City that has several noteworthy steakhouses.

Amazing succulent meats! Mediocre service.

By TV 🌊 |

Tender, well flavored meats...had the pork ribeye and steak with fried Brussels sprouts. Great food, nice atmosphere, but mediocre service.

Average Food at Astronomical Prices

By Melissa F |

i was completely underwhelmed, bordering on disappointed with Bowery Meat Company. The general feel is that the place is full of itself. We had a party of 8 for a dinner this past week. The only memorable person was the sommelier - she really listened as to what we wanted taste and preference-wise and found us a wine the paired perfectly with our food. As for the food - I give it a sold 7, at best. We really wanted steak, a good piece of meat. So we ordered 2 Chateaubriand for the table ($125 a pop!) plus a T-Bone steak for two, plus two other entrees. When the server asked if we wanted to start with anything and we declined, he forcefully said "Well your entrees will take a good 30 minutes or longer so I would order something if I were you." We felt like we were a little strong-armed into ordering more so we did: the ricotta, caesar, and cauliflower steak. The apps were pretty good - the cauliflower came out a little on the colder side, but the ricotta and salad were delicious. Then the meat arrives - I've had better steaks/cuts of meat for way less money in many other places around the city. Bowery Meat Company easily comes in at the bottom of the list. The T-Bone was not very flavorful nor seasoned well. The Chateaubriand was not cooked properly - we asked for rare-med rare and received medium. The sides (shishito and fries) were both good. The service left much to be desired; we were unable to give feedback about our food because once we were served, no one ever came over to check on us until the end of the meal. All in all, I wouldn't say it's worth the trip at all - go to Gallagher's or Peter Lugers instead.

Get the New York Strip

Meal: Pesto Arancini - Chef treat; Kusshi Oysters - shucked properly and amazing wasabi/vinegar dressing-very good!!!; appetizers - meatballs, wedge salad - excellent; 40 oz Cote de Boeuf for two - ok/not 40oz; New York Strip - star of the night; sides=green beans-good and the creamy spinach was very, very good; Wine - picked by Sommelier = excellent!!!; Desserts - carrot cake= very good; sherbert: great... I personally did not like how the Cote de Boeuf was served (already sliced) and there is no way that was a 40oz steak unless the majority of it was fat cut off. I prefer cutting my own steak and I do like some of the fat. Overall, meal on a scale of 1 to 10 = 8.5 Service: 9; Great waiter and Sommelier. Staff was very attentive to our table Ambience overall: 9 Lighting = great; music = awesome; decor = ok - not memorable; bathroom decor = nice; Would I come back...probably.... but not for the Cote du Boeuf for two. Overall, this is a laid back, hip steakhouse with excellent service.

Waited for 45 minutes to have our reservation to cancel

We had a reservation for 20:00, waited for 46 minutes, and then they cancelled our reservation . Worst service ever

Fabulous Meat Entrees!!!!

Went there to celebrate a birthday. Unbelievably great steaks! Had the filet special with the bitter green salad. The smore sundae was terrific. Great service and ambiance. Very busy and terrific for people watching.

Casual ambiance, decent food, ok service.

By Lax4man |

Came here with a group of good friends for a birthday. We were looking for an upscale steak restaurant for the occasion. Was a good meal, but not a special experience. The ambiance is kind of 70’s mod. We were in jackets and easily the most dressed up. Was mostly families and people in jeans and tees. Had a drink when we got there. No beer on tap. Just bottles. Booze list is HUGE otherwise. We’re seated and waited a good 10 minutes before a server came. She told us we had to order everything at once because of a large party that was coming in. I think she realized that statement rubbed us the wrong way and she backed down a bit from that demand. We ordere about every steak on the menu and were generally happy. The Bowery steak is probably the least favorite. For the price it’s the thinnest cut of meat. Definitely go medium rare. It cooks up in a hurry. Bone in everything else was good. The bacon and twice baked are also solid. Although th potato had just as much bacon as potato in it. We left satisfied but it wasn’t the white glove steak house experience we were looking for.

Not your Old School Steakhouse

By Emily K |

I came here with my boyfriend on a Saturday evening. We easily made a reservation which was nice (about 5 days in advance) as we made a last minute trip to the city. The ambiance and decor was warm but modern and spacious. There area few private rooms too for large parties as well. We were seated immediately and were told the "meats were going to come out". Our waiter brought over a vast selection of meats to see for ourselves and make a decision. I did like this process as I had looked at the menu ahead of time but was between two cuts but was able to make a better decision seeing the meats in person. The two of us went for the Shared Portion (for 2) 100 day Dry-Aged Ribeye. The marbling looked beautiful from the meat presentation. We also ordered a side of whipped potato (which is basically mashed potato). The meat was delicious and perfectly tender. It came with a few pieces of charred onion as well. There was definitely enough meat for two people but it was not overwhelming or as large as a Porterhouse would be (40 oz). The only thing I would say about the meat is that the outside was extremely charred throughout and gave a bitter taste. The ribeye bone was also extremely charred so we could not eat the delicious goodness around the bone. I do not blame this on the cooking but rather simply the aging of the meat. I believe that because the meat is aged to 100 days, the outside "funk" makes it more easily char than a less aged piece. I have also had a 28 day and a 40 day aged ribeye in the past and I can say from all the cuts, there is really not much difference to me between the 40 and the 100 day and rather the 40 had less of the char and made it more enjoyable to eat. Not to say that the ribeye was not delicious, just the bitter char made it less enjoyable. The potatos were solid and the small "Amuse bouche" bread, arancini and icecream pops" all added to the solidness of the meal. Overall it was still a great experience but very pricey. While we did get one of the most expensive cuts, I am not sure if overall it was worth it.

Great Place for Steak

By CKFL1 |

I went here on business, and we enjoyed the restaurant quite a lot. I had the bone-in filet, which was very nice. We also enjoyed a number of entrees family style, including the duck lasagna, the cote de boeuf, and the tomohawk ribeye. My favorite is usually a bone-in filet, but for anyone who has never had a tomohawk ribeye I always recommend you order that as it is sure to impress. My business associates and I eat a lot of steak, and as good as the steaks here were, several at the table actually thought the duck lasagna was the highlight. From the wine menu I recommend the Chateau de La Negly 'La Falaise', Le Clape from the Languedoc region.

Great Dinner!

By Kelly A |

I went to dinner with my friend and everything was absolutely amazing! Delance was our great and energetic server; he was both personable but professional at the same time. We ordered the appetizer on the days special that has wagyu steak and it was phenomenal. Gustavo patiently showed us how to cook the steak and was very kind during every interaction! I would also like to mention Paolo who assisted Delance and made it a great night! I would definitely return some time soon!

Good steak

Nice atmosphere and good service. I had a very good Wagyu steak with whipped potatoes. The ricotta appetizer was very good. They brought small ice cream balls at the end of the meal. It was all good.

Four Star Steak with Two Star Service and Five Sar Prices

By Jim K |

When I spend nearly $250 per person at a restaurant I expect the service to be better than my local chain restaurant. I should have realized how the evening would go when my guest and I were shown our table. Not happy with it, I asked about two empty corner tables with banquette seating. The hostess said they were reserved by people coming in for their anniversary (one sat empty all evening). Our waiter was nice enough, and quickly took our cocktail order, we didn't see him again for about an hour. We looked over our menu and decided on what to order, while bread was brought, which we nibbled on, and fried risotto balls (compliments of the chef) where also delivered. I was then looking over the wine list when the sommelier stopped and asked if I needed assistance. I ordered our wine from him and mentioned that we were also ready to place our food order, he said he would be happy to take it and we placed our order with him. Finally, then (about 15min wait) our drinks came, after all bread and rice balls had been consumed. Our appetizers came out and both the Pate and Figs & Bacon were delicious. Our wine came as we where eating the appetizers on our extremely crowded, tiny table. The plates were cleared and our Steaks followed in quick succession. Both the Bone-in Filet Mignon and the Bone-in Rib-eye (the Rib-eye for one - not the extremely expensive Tomahawk Rib-eye for two or the outrageously expensive special Tomahawk Rib-eye for two aged for 120 DAYS!!!) were cooked to perfection and very tasty, though I would prefer my steak thicker-cut. The sides of Creamed Spinach (a little salty) and Sour Cream Home Fries (very good) came with the steaks. All the food and drinks were served not by our waiter but by "runners" - save the wine which was properly brought by the Sommelier. The problem with "runners" is...that's what they do...drop of whatever they are delivering and "run away"!!! There is no placing the item and making sure it is correct or asking if you would like fresh pepper or asking "Are your steaks prepared to your liking?". We finally saw our waiter again when we were 3/4th of the way done eating, he stopped by and asked how everything was. Our dinner plates were cleared by another assistant/runner and the waiter reappeared and took our dessert order of Key Lime Pie and Oreo Ice Cream Cake (both good but nothing amazing). I asked another runner/assistant for the check, which the waiter brought. If you like very good steaks, at cosmically-amazing-steak prices, served with chain food restaurant attention to detail and atmosphere, then this is the place for you. I would prefer what some other reviewers might call "stuffiness" when paying the prices charged by The Bowery Meat Company.

unbelievably good tasty steak with amazing sides and appetizers!

By Marty S |

i went to dinner at bowery meat last night. i was warmly greeted upon entering. we were a bit early and chose to have a drink at the long bar. there were interesting delicious special mixed drinks served by two friendly bartenders. when we got to our table we were again warmly greeted by the waitstaff. we ordered oysters to begin which were fresh, perfectly served, and delicious. we had the special tomahawk steak for 2 people. a bit expensive...but well worth it. hash browns with sour cream and also brussel sprouts were fantastic. it was a big meal, but we left full and happy. chef capon visited us and made sure we were happy. we were. in all a terrific fun dining experience.

Best Meal We Had While In NYC

By Bellefior |

We ate here on our last night of our trip to NYC. After being very disappointed by the lack of service at another unnamed restaurant earlier in the week, this one hit every mark and then some. Called to let them know we were stuck in traffic and would be a little late, no problem. Given a large table in the side room after the first table was too small. Knowledgeable waitstaff, excellent service, and terrific food. We started with the shrimp cocktail and crab claws. I had the Wagyu beef (aka the "Bowery" cap steak) , my husband had the bone-in sirloin, and we split the whipped potatoes and mushrooms. No room for dessert, but they looked positively decadent. Pricey, but if you are looking for a special occasion meal with great service, this place is it!

Not Great and Way Overpriced

By lithiumsan |

Went here for a family celebration. Nice enough atmosphere and staff. The meat is good but not special. The only thing real special is the price. Across the board the prices are over the top. From oysters to steak to wine to dessert prices are high for good but not great quality. Tonight in another nearby restaurant a red wine (cab) that was $165 at Bowery was $95. That pretty much sums up Bowery - nothing special at a high price.

Excellent!

By CTTraveler203 |

Our server Yara was wonderful. Very attentive! The bone in Filet Mignon was unbelievable. Perfectly cooked! The chef stopped by our table to check on us which I always think is very nice. The sommelier was very helpful. Amazing wine list! If you have a large group make sure you ask her how many bottles they have of a wine that you would like. Just to make sure if you need more than one or two that they have it. Don't forget to order dessert! The so'more sundae was delish!

Another overpriced, stuffy steakhouse

By yobyot |

I just don't understand why a piece of meat that costs $15 sells in a place like this for $60. Worse, the staff here was stuffy and condescending. Their response when asked to return a burnt piece of $60 meat? "That's how we cook them here." And, puhleeze, what's with "bone-in" fillet mignon? The WHOLE IDEA of a fillet is that's boneless. Based on our experience here, I suspect it's a way of selling 10oz of steak for a 14oz price.

Don’t get me wrong the steak is good.

By Joey |

For the price this place is over rated IMHO. The layout is pretty mediocre and isn’t that comfortable for a steakhouse. The steaks were good but for the price I would be pretty disappointed if they weren’t. Two of us had the rib cap one strip and one sirloin I believe. The strip and sirloin were both nice and big, could definitely be shared if you’re not extremely hungry. Broiled oysters were decent and the salad was delicious. Service started out decent but by the end of the meal we felt abandoned. One of those times when you are ready to call it but can’t find your server anywhere. 700USD plus tip for four people including drinks. Am I mad we went? No Would we go back? No

Meat Me at the Bowery

By Bryan B |

The service? Impeccable. Both at the bar and in the dining room. The meats and wines? Expensive but very tasty. Without the right swagger and a thick wallet you might feel out of place here. A suave and debonair joint with good grub to match; just thought it was a bit overpriced. Can’t say enough about the waitstaff though - they were tremendous - made the experience.

So upset and disappointed

By Mmargolis60 |

2nd and last time here.... Had tasting menu for dinner. What was served defied belief. A lobster for less than one (for 5 people) a tomahawk steak for 2 (for 5) half empty. I see why. Just an overall colossal fail. Please skip. Not worth it.

Incredible Dining Experience for our Thanksgiving lunch in NYC .The staff was phenomenal, the food was amazing, and the hospitality was unlike anything I have experienced. We had turkey and a steak cooked to perfection! oh not forget the desserts ..cant forget the hot chocolate nut pie ... An inviting establishment accommodating to guests of all ages as well. Would recommend this restaurant any day and would love to go back again.

Amazing evening. Like stepping into a set of Mad Men

Cannot recommend this restaurant enough. It is not cheap but the food and experience were phenomenal. Nothing was too much trouble. Amuse bouche were brought out to start with then we both had some of the best steaks we've ever eaten. A must.

The Lure Group wins again with BMC in the East Village

By Rick A |

I'm a huge fan of Chef Capon--he creates unique dishes that titillate the palate and makes you crave for more! Though the name Bowery Meat Company would conjure up images of a purely steakhouse venue, while it has some of the most amazing meat selections, it also serves up wonderful fish and amazing apppetizers. This summer's avocado/green tomatillo gazpacho was perfection! Staff is friendly and knowledgeable. A very, very classy spot on E1st and Bowery. Don't miss it and you can tell the that Rick sent you. I'm a huge fan and regular!

Slightly disappointed

By Robert P N |

It has a nice ambience, crowded, so must be popular. I think we got a bad night on the meat. We ordered the deviled eggs with caviar. Excellent. But we also ordered a rib eye and it was just not good at all. No flavor, kinda tough. disappointed. Otherwise, we had a good time, will most likely not go back, too many other choices for meat in NYC

Restaurant visit was a result of a recommendation and we were not disappointed! Amazing service and good food. We had a reservation so getting seated was not an issue. Good paced meal -- we never felt rushed or ignored. On the agenda for a follow up visit.

I will go back!!!!

By Antonio C |

I had dinner at Bowery Meat while in New York visiting with some friends. This place is a little more than a traditional steakhouse, the food is excellent and the service is great. You have to keep an eye on the prices but if you can enjoy a great dinner at a reasonable cost! My suggestion is to go try it!!!!

Stellar Steakhouse with a Spin

By Samantha P |

A steakhouse is generally a steakhouse; the differentiating factors really come down to ambiance, variety of cuts, & appetizers/sides. That being said, Bowery Meat Company scores on all fronts. They have all the classics one can expect from a steakhouse; shellfish, wedge salads, potatoes and well, steak. But they also have deviled eggs topped with caviar, crispy duck wings, smokey paprika lobster mac n cheese, duck lasagna, 11 different cuts of steak, and sour cream & onion hash browns. The space is dimly lit but not too dark like Striphouse, it's retro yet modern, and somewhat cozy. You feel like you are in a sexy Lower East Side restaurant that also has remnants of a steakhouse. Not bad, not bad at all.

Great dinner!

By allen a |

Excellent food. Started the evening at the bar with some pre-dinner cocktails and bartender was very friendly and drinks were great. Then moved on to dinner. Started with the broiled oysters which were excellent and then had the Chateaubriand for 2. 20 oz with a great crust around the entire steak. Wine selection was very good as well and we enjoyed a nice bottle of wine along with dinner. I would definitely recommend this place.

Made a reservation here after seeing some of chef josh capon's videos awhile back. For a Saturday night the joint was never completely full, so I suppose you could show up here without a reservation. The decor and ambiance inside all flow well together. The food: 1) a duck lasagna was offered for free from the chef. There was a generous portion of duck in the dish and it was very good. I believe it's offered on the menu but it's rather large and meant to share. 2) the cote de boeuf. 38 ozs of goodness I am still dreaming about. For 2 hungry people it's up to you whether sharing or ordering 2 individual entrees, most entrees would be cheaper than sharing. As the shared dishes are all rather large. Since they're known for the tomahawk and cote de boeuf, we ordered the cote. For the fans of steaks with a nice char, this is the place for you. The ribeye was nice charred all around and cooked to a lovely medium rare. The cote de boeuf is aged 40 days, with sufficient marbling. 3) ordered sides of potato purée and broccolini. Both were good, if you're ordering a tomahawk or cote, I'd say skip the purée. It's too much food. 4) dessert was awesome. We had the chocolate chip cookie. It tasted like some sort of hybrid between that and a brownie. Lovely. 5) the wine list is deep!!! Lots of selections including DRC and the 5 houses of Bordeaux. Their somm is also a really cool guy and very helpful. I can see how some here wouldn't like this establishment. However they failed to research just what this restaurant is. If you love meat and red wine, this is the place for you.

Great New York Steakhouse.

By markkX6690EX |

My son and I ate here on a weeknight recently. We split the porterhouse, which was absolutely delicious. We had the bacon potato and sautéed spinach for sides. Coffee and New York cheesecake rounded out an outstanding meal.

This is a terrific restaurant. Excellent steaks and menu with top service as well. I come here once a month when I crave a great steak and friendly service.

Upper Quality Steakhouse

By CSN88 |

Great meal at Bowery Meat Company. The restaurant is in a trendy area and has a relaxing atmosphere with a mix of business and traditional diners. Unlike many NYC steakhouses, the volume level inside the restaurant remains low enough to hear yourself speak. We started with a mix of appetizers including jumbo shrimp, but the real stars were the duck lasagna and wagyu meatballs which were out of this world. Our entire group opted for the bone-in filet which was amazing. The tomahawk ribeye that was being served to others looked appealing. Some reviewers are critical of their sides, but we enjoyed them quite a bit. The best of the sides were truffle oil infused fries. The creamed spinach was very good as were the whipped potatoes. Finally, if you have room, one should try the bread pudding dessert which was exquisite. They have an above average wine list and the service was superb. One can conduct business in this restaurant or bring your family... That along with some great food makes this a winner for me. The bar area started off slow, but was fairly crowded on a weeknight by 10pm.

Overpiced

By GaryTFlorida |

Was very excited to visit. Very expensive and not worth the money. We shared the T-Bone for two which was north of $150. It was good but not worth nearly this price. I suggest Strip House, Wolfgangs, or Peter Lugers as better priced and better steak. Also, the wines here are way too expensive. Many better places to go out there.

Disappointed

By flatfootfoodie |

This was one of those dinners you really look forward to...steak night in NYC! Bowery has a great reputation for delivering on some of the highest of expectations. Unfortunately, I can't say that was my experience. First off, the service was very good and the decor met expectations of a NYC steakhouse. That said, three pre-meal drinks for over $60 (before tip) is no joke. You charge that much and the expectations are only going to go up. The tomahawk ribeye was good...well seasoned and properly cooked. The cream spinach and fried potato (whatever it's called) sides were just okay. They were surprisingly, very much not memorable. The cream spinach lacked the creaminess one expects. It didn't even look creamy. The potatoes looked like they had all kinds of flavor, but the excitement of the first bite quickly fizzled. Finally the duck lasagne was just good. I can't say it did what I would have expected it to do, in terms of flavor. Overall, not a horrible experience, just not good enough to come back...not in this city anyway and not at that price point.

excellent steakhouse

Excellent food - everything we ordered was delicious. Steak was perfect, better than Keen's. Service was tip top and we would be back again.

Delicious Mother's Day

By Owlietakesflight |

I had the pleasure of sharing Mother's Day with my daughter who planned a wonderful dinner at the Bowery Meat. The food was spectacular! The ambiance was relaxing, the bartender was engaging and introduced me to a lovely, new wine while I waited for my daughter to arrive. Once seated, the staff took the time to explain the various cuts of meat and offered dining suggestions. Again, the food was spectacular and the desserts were phenomenal!!! I left fully satisfied gastronomically and emotionally. Thank you for contributing to a lovely Mother's Day!
