We had a quartino of the Riesling, Brussels sprouts, garlic shrimp, and bacon wrapped dates as our meal. All were delicious. Nice energetic vibe. We had churros and decaf coffee for dessert-excellent!

Visited on a busy Thursday evening- hadn't booked but they managed to find a good table in this small and busy place. Friendly staff and a very good varied tapas menu. Tasted tapas in many places and thought the selection and flavours in many at Buceo as good as anywhere. Reasonable prices and a solid wine list. Certainly worth a visit

This place is our favorite. We are never disappointed. The ambiance and the food is excellent. The restaurant is small so call ahead.

This place is a great local spot. With indoor/outdoor seating and a great wine selection, this is definitely one of my go-to's. The tapas are amazing, you can't go wrong. Definitely try the marcona almonds and the croquettes. This place is a little pricey, so it's best to start with a few tapas then add on if needed. Besides that, wonderful food, wine, and service.

Of any tapas restaurant we've been to in New York, the small plate servings at Buceo 95 are the closest to the food that delighted us in Spain. The flavors are bold and simple, relying on the high quality of the food itself and the deft skills of the chef to provide a delicious meal. Our server had good familiarity with the wine list, patiently brought us three samples, and smiled graciously when we decided to go with the wine he had originally recommended as the best pairing for the food we had ordered. Service is excellent, attentive without being obtrusive. My only quibble is that we seating is on high (counter height) chairs which I found less comfortable than conventional table height chairs. But the food is marvelous. We were only able to try five dishes so I intend to go back soon and sample other intriguing menu items. And, I'll bring friends with me. And, it is just a few steps away from Symphony Space, making it ideal for pre- or post-performance snacks as well.

Great neighborhood restaurant and bar... fabulous and amazing tapas and great wine list to compliment the food. The wait staff is friendly and attentive... This is a very cozy and quaint establishment - you get to know your dining neighbors - if you so choose.

This gem of a tapas restaurant is in my neighborhood and I just found out about it! The service, ambience, and food are absolutely first rate. This is the best tapas I have ever had in the USA and is even better than many in Madrid and Barcelona. We tried the Brussel sprouts, cauliflower, blistered peppers, The fish special (swordfish), and the bacon wrapped dates. They all were delicious. The wine suggestions were spot on. The 2 servers and the bus boy were attentive, pleasant, and very nice. I will definitely be back and will recommend this to my neighbors, friends, and family.

We loved this place. Simply one of the best places to eat on the Upper West Side. Service is friendly, the food is delicious and go early as the place fills up after 7 PM. Our wine of the evening was the Hono Vera, great value and very smooth. We loved the bacon wrapped dates, the lamb sliders, the duck breast, the cauliflower and the squid. All were cooked perfectly. A great date night place.

I was very surprised to read the review before this about Buceo 95 as it is one of the best tapas bars we have ever visited - Spain included! We thought the food was excellent and we had a selection of five tapas between two of us. The waitress said the portions were quite big but maybe because we'd got used to enormous portions in the USA we found the size just right. The service was great and very friendly. We only had two nights in NY at the end of our trip and on the second night we chose another Tapas bar in the UES - a decision we wished we hadn't taken because Buceo 95 is much better

Ever since I saw the amazing Chef win Chopped, it was my dream to come here, as we love tapas. My husband surprised me for my birthday with a trip to NYC and took me there. Buceo 95 lived up to my expectations and beyond. Chef Veronica even came out to meet me. Everything we had was delicious, don't miss the Brussel Sprouts Wow!! Lamb Chops , Bacon Wrapped Dates, Gambas just to name a few were exceptional. Servers suggestions and wine spot on. Courtney, the owner, makes everyone feel like family. Finished off with Cava and birthday dessert, the Torrija, to die for! Thank you Buceo 95 for making my Birthday a night to remember! Next trip will return!

No trip to NY is complete without a visit to Buseo. We LOVE the lamb sliders, the sangria, the torta. The staff is excellent, attentive and helpful.

Not the real thing but a mediocre imitation. The menu is attractive but the food does not measure up. Good selection of vines.

We have been to excellent tapas restaurants and this place does not do justice to tapas fare at all. We were really looking forward to a nice assortment of food but were disappointed. The olive oil for bread dipping was not seasoned and neither was the bread so it tasted bland. The garlic shrimp tasted like frozen-cooked shrimp w/ no flavor loaded with garlic and oil - tasteless. We ordered 4 dishes and they forgot the last (chicken wrapped Jamon). We ended up sending it back because it was very salty and dry with no other flavor that stood out. My drink was good ( Gin and tonic). The churros were the worst we've ever tasted - they were HARD and absolutely no flavor but for being oily and crunchy but not soft on the inside as churros should be. Sadly the prices are high for poor service and food. Although we were hoping to frequent this place, it will not happen.

Buteo is a small constantly buzzing tapas restaurant with taste sensations that will blow your mind. They're complemented with a great Winelist. From a tiny open plan kitchen a constant flow of tasty delicacies is delivered. It's one of my favourite Upper West Side neighborhood hangouts. No matter how often I return I am never disappointed.

Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious. We had the goat cheese croquettes, potato omelet, bacon wrapped dates, ham and cheese fritters - among a few other plates - and all were excellent. The manager, Nick, was very attentive and the service overall was very good. I've been to several tapas bars and this one stands out for both the food and service. Highly recommend!

Another return trip to Buceo. The food, service and wine were all excellent! A wonderful neighborhood tapas restaurant where everything is great and the staff makes every visit an enjoyable experience. We especially love the pork belly & the charcuterie and cheese plates!

This is a fantastic tapas restaurant in a really great location. The food is delicious. Highly recommended!

We are visiting from out-of-town and just lucked into Buceo 95. What a find! Tapas is better than most we've had in Spain. We had 6 dishes for 3 women and had leftovers -- portions are very generous for tapas. Wide variety of choices. The roasted brussel sprouts and asparagus were both excellent. The traditional Spanish tortilla was far more flavorful than those we've had in Spain. Paella was full of seafood, but our favorite was the Bison Sliders with Manchego and aioli. The host informed us that the chef had just won on Chopped. We see why. Tall tables, small and cozy, a little dark, but we thought it all added to the ambiance. Full of locals -- which to us is a sign of a great restaurant.

The food was excellent, suited for carnivores and vegetarians. The portions were just right and the selection was innovative and delicious. We loved the intimate atmosphere and the friendly service. The wine was excellent, and by the bottle was quite reasonable. All in all, a wonderful wonderful dinner. This will definitely be one of our frequent places in New York.

Buceo 95 was recommended to us by our relatives in NYC,who live on the Upper West SIde.The Sangria was delicious. The tapas selection was very good too, lots of vegetarian options,as well as meat and seafood, something for everyone's palate.Don't miss the goat cheese croquettes,Pimientos de Padron, grilled baby octopus, and lamb chops.Finished with the torrija dessert and the Pedro Ximenez homemade ice cream, not to be missed. We went home very happy. Can't wait to return on next trip!

We had a wonderful dinner here. The tapas are great. The service was fantastic. Wish we didn’t live across the country. Go, Enjoy and tell Courtney Hi

Imaginative tapas wonderfully prepared. Many different flavors from the Spanish cuisine palate. We especially loved tha paella...but honestly every dish was so yummy. We went early so no crowd, attentive staff. I understand it gets packed after 8...no reservations so good luck.

Great little neighborhood Tapas place. It is always busy and crowded because it is a known gem. We ordered the following... Pulpo- delicious! Coles de Bruselas- good, not a large serving. Gambas al Ajillo- very good! Churrasco- excellent! I look forward to going back soon!

Great wine at fair prices. Interesting and tasty quality food. Very lively atmosphere with friendly and efficient service. Highly recommended

We went here with our granddaughter and had a nice tapas dinner. It was very amusing to see they had lots of President Biden’s faces decorating their windows. We had the tortilla omelet, goat cheese croquette, roasted eggplant, Basque noodles and pork belly. For dessert we had churros. Everything was very good. The wine was great too.

I was there with friends to try new places in the Upper west side and I found out that is really good, nice wines pours and the Gambas dish is just fantastic.

The owner, the manager, the waiters, the bartenders are fabulous. So friendly and generous. The food is exquisite and wine list extensive. Weekends can be jam-packed so try picking a weeknight. I'm so lucky to have this place in my backyard.

I have been coming to Buceo 95 for about 4 years now. I remember coming here after going to ALTA downtown and thinking "buceo actually has better food than Alta" which at the time i thought was the best tapas place in the city . (yes i have traveled to Spain and eaten amazing tapas in Madrid for a week so i feel like i know what I am talking about) We used to tell everyone to go to Buceo 95 because we felt confident of our recommendation we even brought friends with us tonight and raved about it. . Courtney (one of the owners) used to greet us warmly and with all the new people we would bring and again, we were so excited to share this amazing food. Well thats all over. The food has taken a turn for the bland, and unappetizing. The "braised cauliflower" was essentially corn chowder or bad mac and cheese. The brussell sprouts, which used to be one of the highlights, was shredded into nothing and was so boring. The Goat Cheese croquettes were just bad when they used to be decadent. WHAT HAPPENED!!?!?!? We almost walked out and said "just stop making the rest of the order" I have never been this angry over a restaurant going so down hill? Seriously, did they hire a chef from Mcdonalds? Does the chef even care? We have lived on the UWS (my wife and I) separately since 2001 and we adored this place and thought it was one of the best restaurants in the city. Now, its just a bland place that lost all its charm, and wonderful food. wtf. the wait staff forgot our order of Bacon wrapped dates, skirt steak and Olives. It was only when we told the waiter "um we ordered bacon wrapped dates, did they show up 5 min later. Then we had to ask for the Olives. and finally we asked for the steak and the waiter lied and said "oh yeah they are cooking it now" really? We ordered it an hour ago and its still cooking after we got all the rest of our food? You forgot, just say you forgot its ok. There was no line to get in, there was no wait, its not like the place was hopping or the kitchen was under duress yet you miss 3 of our dishes and then make it up that its been cooking? Come on. That was the topping on this bland, fast food-esque experience tonight. I think this is only the 3rd bad review that I have written in all my reviews and i do it so the restaurant will hopefully change and get back to what it once was. I hope this is used as constructive criticism. I implore Courtney and the other owner to get over there and figure out what the hell went wrong. Maybe this will spur us to go find new places as we won't ever be going back to Buceo again. Dammit.

A typical New York date turn out to be one of the best night I had. We were looking for a place to eat and came across this place. The food is amazing, but I'm obsessed with their thick sangria. Amazing!!!!!!!!!

Buceo 95 is nestled between Amsterdam and Broadway on 95th st. Given traffic flow and the residential aura of the block, people would have little reason to pass by. Once you get past this mistake and find you way past the red door you will be treated to an UWS local gem. Nick the sommelier will guide you through the wines and tasting what he suggests is the norm and not an unusual favor. The Tapas is always exceptional and that is before you get to the special board. This place is great for summer nights when it is wide open. In the winter it is warm and welcoming. The bar is as live has the dining. One thing the restaurant is NOT is a haven for the stroller crowd...this is for family, couples, and solo diners.

Cozy tapas and wine bar. Go and enjoy the food, the wine, and the ambiance. Just don't make the same mistake I did: Pimientos de Padrón (blistered green peppers, coarse sea salt) $9 are actually jalapenos and not sweet peppers, as I had first thought. Super yum though ... just scrape out the seeds to lessen the heat. This place fills fast, so get there early for first dibs on seating.

The food was actually not bad....liked the burger lamb chops. I don't know if i was just tired after a long day or its was the mixture in the sangria. And customer service was good and friendly too.

Ordered simple dishes at the bar and it took forever. They were really nice at taking back dishes that were not well prepared. The reality is that this is "Americanized" Spanish food. If you are looking for authentic Spanish food, DO NOT come here. Pan Tomat, was bread with ragu sauce. The Catalans will roll over in their grave. The jamon Serrano was a raw ham, not cured. The Lomo was not much better. The cheeses were difficult to ruin, they were quite good, as was the Spanish Omelette. The Boquerones were served dry on bread. They were dry. Would not come here again. The service was helpful friendly and cooperative. It's not their fault the food takes long and is ill conceived. Cavas were great. Come here for good Spanish wine and Cavas- NOT to eat.

I feel very lucky to live close to such a great restaurant and bar. The food is excellent, the wine list is great, and the staff are very cool, friendly, and knowledgable. This is one of the best restaurants in the neighborhood.

The service is warm and the food delicious. This restaurant tis a gem on the midst of very few outstanding eateries on the UWS. The other is Gennaro. Whether you sit at the bar and chat to the charming barman or take a high top table, you will have a great evening. The noise level is high so be forewarned.

The tapas trend translates too many times into much smaller portions of the same food for slightly reduced prices. However, Buceo 95 is a healthy exception, since most of the dishes stand on their own tapas legs, and if you combine them well you can create a very rewarding experience. Extremely tasty patatas bravas, fresh croquetas and boquerones, and a quartino of flowery Rioja did the trick wonderfully. Cons: I don't like sitting on high chairs, and the place does get crowded.

Barcelona, its famed tapas and wine, is the inspiration for Buceo 95 located on 95th Street just off Amsterdam and less than a block from Symphony Space. While there are full entrees on the menu, the pleasure here is to order a variety of tapas. Everything we had was very good, including nice garlic grilled shrimp. Besides the wine selection there is a full bar, and outdoor seating is offered in the summer. Whether going to Symphony Space or not, Buceo 95 is worth a visit.

I came early one night to check this place out. I love Spanish tapas and my favorites are the shrimp dishes and potatoe dishes. I ordered both here and they were both very tasty. They also served nice homemade bread with olive oil and a few olives in it gratis. I left quite satisfied. I also met the hostess, who turned out to be the owner. She was very kind and engaged me in conversation several times. Turned out we had great common interest in art and travel. I didn't order it, but someone nearby had the red sangria and it looked fantastic. I would definitely return.

Met up with a friend for wine and tapas and this place is perfect. I'll return again and again. Great wine selection , yummy food and the service was excellent. They left us alone to talk and at the same time made sure our glass was full and our tapas warm.

Two of us were at Buceo 95 for dinner in June, 2015. It's very close to the 96th St. subway stop - a big advantage. The service was extraordinary - they let us taste a considerable number of wines before we chose one, and they were willing to discuss the menu at unusually great length. When the food came, it was very good indeed. We sat outside and enjoyed the ambience. I'm impressed and would like to go again.

Thank heaven for a return visit to Buceo 95. We sampled exquisite dishes: Churrasco de Buceo (how do they make a miracle of steak?), incredible Garlic Shrimp, a special Salmon that melted with flavor, and their signature Coles de Bruselas (live-changing brussel sprouts). Raventos Cava was recommended to us; another delight. In this intimate setting the staff is so very gracious and knowledgeable; let them be your guide. Superb experience.

Walking up 95th Street, you want to look for a sign with a waiter holding a tray that says Vins/Tapas. You won't see anything saying Buceo 95, so you could otherwise walk right past this wonderful restaurant offering hot and cold small plates with flavors to suit a variety of palates. We ordered four to start -- asparagus with pomegranate seeds, garlic shrimp, octopus, and fried macron almonds. And the we determined we wanted more. Calamari, anchovies, and goat cheese with strawberries in an amazing strawberry/smoked honey sauce followed. And a cheese/meat plate with four delicious selections. We also enjoyed the fresh bread and olive oil served while we waited for our first plates to arrive, along with some sangria. On previous visits, I've also enjoyed the mushrooms and the lamb offerings, and had the churros with amazing dark chocolate sauce for dessert. And I've enjoyed the brunch, which features a separate menu. The restaurant is cozy and offers outdoor seating when weather permits. Indoors or out, the food is great, and the waitstaff takes great care of you. My advice: Vaya a Buceo. You're tastebuds will be very happy.

Buceo is a wine bar with small plates but all their dishes have big flavor. My wife and I have now made it one of our regular places to go. All the staff are friendly and the service is constintly terrific. We typically start off with a glass of wine and 2 or 3 tapas but wind up having a few glasses as well as a few more small plates and wind up spending 2 to 3 hours sometimes. It's also very easy to get to, right of the 1,2,3 express stop at 96 th street.

My dad, a lifelong New Yorker, and I had dinner at Buceo. Dad let me surprise him which is hard to do. We sat outside, arrived early at 5 to beat the crowds. Waitstaff was attentive and helpful. Tapas were delicious, some of the best I've had in the US. Great wine list unusual choices, wonderful for me as I visited Spain in July.

This restaurant is okay. Every bottle of wine I ordered (3 bottles) the waiter brought me the wrong bottle. The pane con tamate had virtually no tomato on it, the mushrooms, had way too much cheese on it, and the skirt steak had no salt on it and was under seasoned. I accidentally left my credit card there and asked them to drop the card in the mail. They were unable to do so. After spending over $500, they could not spend 40 cents on a stamp to return my card. I certainly will not be returning to this restaurant. The tapas was okay at best. There are many other restaurants with better tapas and pintxos.

Great little tapas place with awesome food, lovely and friendly staff at the bar, but the acoustics are really bad when busy. It was really difficult to have a conversation. Should maybe try at a quieter time of day.

This is a great upper west side wine & tapas spot, a half block from Symphony Space. It is just like ones you find in Spain. Wines (by the glass & a quarter) are reasonable and excellent, sangria authentic. Tapas generally very good-bacon covered dates are divine. Blistered peppers are wonderful, shrimp very good. 4 or 5 shared tapas add up to price of dinner but it is equivalent to dinner - as long as didn't start off starved.

Buceo 95 was located in between our vacation rental and the express subway line on a recent trip to NYC. Each time we passed by the restaurant, I found it to be very inviting...a real neighborhood gem. Finally on our last night, my sister and I were able to have dinner at Buceo 95. The owner or manager made us feel very welcome among what I assume would be a lot of regular customers. Our waitress was a young woman who was living in NY trying to get a start on a career in the Theater. She was knowledgeable about the menu and able to advise us on the choices. The variety of tapas on the menu was excellent and included plenty of vegetarian items. We especially liked the beets with blue cheese and a salad with butter lettuce, avocado and oranges, but everything we had was excellent including the calamari, which was not the usual fried rings, but consisted of the body of the calamari, excellently prepared. We also had a bottle of wine that was their special for the evening and it was a most enjoyable evening. Our meal was not inexpensive, but certainly a good value for what we had (and perhaps inexpensive for NYC). I encourage anyone to try Buceo 95. It is just a block from the 96th St. express subway line.

We are fans of tapas, and on this first full summer night of a 5 week trip here, we took our jet-lagged selves up the street to this place which had been recommended by the owner of the apartment we are renting. It was a good choice: outside seating on the warm night, noisy but tolerable. And excellent tapas choices. We had mostly vegetarian items, but also one fish and, lo! they gifted us a chorizo as well. Some of the food was a bit too salty for someone like me who is supposed to be on a heart-healthy diet, but it was good nonetheless. Since we have 5 weeks left, I'm sure we'll return.

This place was pretty much opposite where we were staying. We were trying to work out what to do for dinner and thought we'd give this place a shot. It's not huge and was quite busy for a Thursday night. We were lucky to get a table though and proceeded to order 5 tapas dishes between two and a beer each. The bill was $71. All the food was really delicious. We had the cauliflower, asparagus, stuffed peppers, meatballs and the goat cheese croquettes. The croquettes were some of the most delicious things I have ever tasted. They come in a raspberry sauce, which doesn't sound like it should work but it really does! The place is quite cramped and noisy but it wouldn't stop me going back again. I wouldn't recommend it for families with young children in an evening and I think you'd struggle with a wheelchair.

One of the best dining experiences in NY. I have been to Barcelona and I would say the food here is better. The slow roasted pork belly was out of this world as were the other dishes. The ambience was hip/mellow and the place was spotless. The best part of this place was the service which was friendly and helpful every step of the way. Even though they do not take reservations, if you call 15 mins ahead of time they will save you a table. Our server (sorry I forgot his name) was absolutely incredible. I made the mistake of ordering sherry instead of wine and of course played it cool like it was intentional. After a couple of sips the waiter realized my mistake, took it off the bill without being asked and replaced it with an excellent Spanish red. Great place and will return.

There is good news and bad news - the bad news isn't huge so let me get it out of the way first. It's dark - one of my group had to use a flashlight to read the menu. The indoor seating is on high stools. Not a problem for me, but for older people, people with a bad back or leg - needs to be considered. There is traditional seating outside, for warm weather. In cold weather, the doors on the side (that open in the summer) leak, so it can be chilly if you're next to the window. There is background music - not sure why, it mostly adds to the noise level, which is not intrusive but a factor. Now for the good news - the staff is friendly and wonderful, the wine guy is a delight and truly knows his business, the food is wonderful and the wait person went out of her way to explain, and the wine - not surprisingly - is REALLY good. The decor is simple and intimate - I was a guest so I don't know if they take reservations but a good idea. We were going to a concert at Symphony Space - one block away - and they were careful to be sure we were out the door when we said we want to leave. Interesting range of dishes - heavy Spanish menu (although I understand that changes regularly) the wild boar was wonderful, friends raved about the Sea Bass, the cauliflower - ice cream was superb with chopped cherries and something else. It is tapas, so servings are small, so you can explore different dishes. (Menu is awfully small print, but that may be an age thing.) Intimate - friendly - delicious - I got there just before they opened, and the head came over and gave me a mini wine tasting, including a wine from th Canary Islands. Who knew? Fun place to experiment with.

Terrific quaint and cozy tapas restaurant. Great selection of small plate choices. The staff is very friendly and helpful with the menu

We have lived in the neighborhood for 2 years and finally got to this cute little spot, after reading some good reviews. The food and service did not disappoint - it's all small plates. We had grilled asparagus, fennel salad, grilled octopus, skirt steak (by far my favorite!) and pork. The pork was just OK, hard to jazz up the flavor. Our server was really sweet; she pulled up a stool to put my bag on, and gave us recommendations. The food was a little too salty, perhaps - we drank a ton of water. Good wine choices. The atmosphere was very cozy and hip; almost like a West Village spot. Can't wait to go back!

We decided to stop by for a friend's birthday. There would be eight of use so we had to be seated at two tables, due to Covid rules. Fine. Understood. One of the members arrived 15 min. later, so he would have been the eighth member at the the other table, Before being seated, he came over to talk to the "birthday boy," give him a gift, and wish him the best. A man who I assume is the manager came out and told us if we couldn't "adhere to rules" we'd have to pay up and have to leave. None of us were without masks, although others around us were before their drinks and food arrived. My husband and I wanted to leave but hadn't received our food yet. It came out cold, greasy and the wine, which I recall was recommended by the waiter, tasted like vinegar. At this place, the customer is always wrong...at least according to Buceo 95 management.

Sitting out front, my clients noticed how dirty and grease-stained the sidewalk was from the door to the curb. They couldn't imagine what the kitchen was like. Embarrassed, I took them elsewhere.

Went to Buceo after an event at SymphonySpace (just before the pandemic hit, in February). Now live in VA but former resident and big fan of the Upper West Side. Buceo embodies the best of the UWS!! -- Inviting exterior, charming Mediterranean interior, prompt and efficient service, and a joyous, uplifting vibe. And the taps -- wowsa!! A huge selection, including many different varieties of ingredients, elegantly presented. Plus a pleasing, varied wine list. -- I pray Buceos survives the hard times of the CD epidemic, and that my husband and I can look forward to another wonderful evening there in the not-too-distant future!

I have come to this restaurant for years. At least 3 times a week. Service started lacking. I use to leave 20% in a tip but lessened because of the service. I was told by management I was not allowed in any more because I under tip. I never heard of such a thing. I have always been kind, respectful and always paid my bill. I was denied access because of under tipping. It was so degrading and embarrassing. Not nice Buceo 95. Reporting to better business bureau

This was our third visit to Buceo, twice when staying in NYC for a two week visit and just last month when we went to Manhattan to ring in my 50th. Each time, the place was packed. Albeit you can't make a reservation, we have never had a problem being seated in a reasonable time frame. Food is absolutely delicious. Decent wine list. The only slight downside - tables are quite close together, so if your neighbors are odd, you could be in for a long evening. Would (and likely will) go there again!

Buceo 95's website claims that if you "close your eyes you think you're in Spain". Seeing as how I was just in Spain a few months ago, I would have to disagree with this statement. I found only about a third to a half of the menu really authentic. Plus, the quaint space was decorated more like an Italian wine bar than a Spanish cafe. There were even thin Italian bread sticks displayed around the bar for snacking. Large red Asian-style lamps overhead were also out of place. I did appreciate the neighborhood vibe and friendly people around the bar, but found the bartender and menu misleading. For example, we requested that the Grilled Calamari be cooked well-done and received confirmation as such from our server. The fish arrived with barely any char markings and quite chewy. The large tubes of calamari could have been sliced in multiple pieces, rather than being left for the diner to tackle. The roasted red pepper sauce added a flavorful punch to the calamari, however, and really jazzed up the dish. The "Roasted" Mushrooms were cooked in a sweet sherry sauce, but were more fried than roasted. The crispy bites were essentially mushroom-flavored potato chips. They still tasted great, but were not what we were expecting. As I read through the other reviews on Yelp, I cannot help but wonder if we just ordered the wrong courses (my dining companion banned any fattening menu items - [shameless shout-out - Hi!] ). While my friend pushed me to give Buceo 2 stars, I do not think I would go that far. I think there is some potential for a nice meal here, but I would not go as far as saying my experience transported me back to Spain.

I'm from Spain, I came with two non-Spaniard friends. We had: -Wine: "Garnacha, Honoro Vera 2012 Calatayud, Spain" wine. $33 bottle. It wasn't good. -Tortilla de patata. $7. A small portion. Not even close to the normal taste of a normal one. -Dátiles. (Bacon wrapped dates stuffed with a chorizo goat cheese emulsion). $9. Four small rolls. Tasty. Then, we waited for almost 20 minutes until they brought: -Pintxo de gambas. (Grilled tiger shrimp, garlic stuffed olives). $5. Only three shrimps. Were ok. -Morcilla Frita. (Fried morcilla, scallion alioli, piquillo peppers). $5. It was not that bad. TOTAL: $64 with taxes. Plus tip. $25 each. Afterwards we needed to go to a McDonalds to actually have dinner. Never again!

I reviewed this restaurant a few years ago but I've just been back and I thought I'd update my review. In summary, the food, the service and the value are still outstanding. Highly recommended!

I'm not sure how authentic the tapas are here but man do they taste great (chorizo stuffed dates wrapped in bacon were especially good). Place is very tiny so try to get a reservation. I will definitely be back here.

I live nearby and this is my favorite spot to go. Easy to just grab a glass of wine and fun to stay and eat. Delicious stuffed dates, a wonderful wine list and cant miss the churros for dessert.

We've eaten at Buceo 95 many times and never had a bad experience. It's definitely a tapas restaurant - small plates that come when they come. The food is often nicely spiced and sometimes in unexpected combinations of ingrediants. We find that four shared plates make a good meal for two. Service is good, though when it's crowded plan to take your time - it's not a quick meal. Good if small wine list. It is very loud inside. Plan to eat outdoors unless you like noisy restaurants.

We went for birthday dinner. Perfect choice. The evening ambiance is romantic. The menu is amazing. The service was timed with great finesse so we could savor each bite. The mushrooms were off the charts and the eggplant and cauliflower were especially delicious. The tarte espanole was not my favorite, but would be thoroughly enjoyed by anyone who likes a little smoke and heat. The desserts were excellent. The wine list had a wonderful variety of Spanish wines, including many we had not had before. We enjoyed each that we ordered.

I liked this place a lot. It's got a great wine list - though you really have to buy 2 glasses, not one, but you'll want two, and it's reasonably priced. And the tapas I had were excellent and a good value. It was even reasonably quiet on a Wednesday night - lots of people but not hugely loud. I sat at the bar and was not the only solo person. The bartender had just the right mix of friendliness and leave-you-alone.

My friend and I had delicious, well prepared and presented tapas accompanied by a Sicilian wine, Etna Russo, that was a perfect compliment. We ordered a Paella that was tasty; Coliflor a la Brasa, braised cauliflower, manchego beschamel, figs, hazelnuts that was outrageous; sauteed artichokes and goat cheese croquettes which were delicious. It becomes crowded as the evening progresses and it is small and intimate. We ate at an outside table because it was a lovely evening. The service was very good and the hostess gracious. I would return.

I have bone/ blood cancer and take meds that can cause seizure. I have a seizure dog as service with all required paperwork. The owner refused me entry saying nothing was wrong with me. It took all my control not to notify the justice dept. The food is good but expensive. I won’t support this type of owner although plenty of people do. It’s always packed

The servers were very patient and attentive as two of us waited an hour for the other two people in our party to arrive. The food was good with small portions but we figured that out based on the low prices. I'd pay more for larger portions and rate as 4 1/2 stars if possible. Enjoyed appetizers and endless water while we waited.

Very nice experience at this cozy fav of locals and the Symphony Space crowd. Wide ranging tapas menu at all price points. Generous pour. Attentive waitstaff. Fried calamari, grilled artichoke, baccala fritters, goatcheese fritters with strawberries and sweet, briny fresh oysters. Will return. Kid friendly. Might be a bit of a challenge for those with disabilities, tables mostly hitops. Small outdoor patio with heatlamps likely ok for those with pets in tow. Dinner reservations a good idea.

This place was a find, my BF and I were staying on 96th St so where lucky enought to stumble past this gem. We had to wait to get a table (always a good sign) but this was only for 10mins, the atmosphere was buzzing and the service was attentive. Great red wine selection and perfect touch with the bread and olive oil to begin. We shared a selection all which were scrummy, our favorite would have to have been the pork belly with pickled fennel and anised oil and the spainish omlette. You wont be dissapointed !

Buceo has been around for quite sometime now. It is a great stop before a night out or a wonderful way to finish the night with a date. It can be loud at times, but it has a nice village feel to it. Food is mostly fine, nothing in the 5 star category. Go for a glass of wine or a nightcap and enjoy!

I am not sure what other reviewers find so great. It's largely greasy food- small portions- high prices. Inside is clostophobic - I was refused entry with my medical alert dog although she had all the documents required. If you have s service dog you must stay outside The servers are all lovely and attentive. I live right near it but never go there.

This has been here for 12 years because it’s become and institution! Always busy when the French doors our open and the whole place is opened up during warm summer nights. But it’s also cute and cozy in the winter. I try to go here around once a month with my lady! Very nice owners. Get the Cava! It’s also dog friendly when you sit in the sidewalk cafe.

I was here twice in the summer of 2021. Once with a friend and the second time with my daughter. We were delighted with all the small plates which we shared.

Just one block east of Symphony Space, Buceo95 was an excellent choice for pre-show dinner. The space is intimate and cozy and each of our 5 tapas selections were thoroughly enjoyed: grilled baby octopus (my favorite of the lot!), tortilla espanola, braised cauliflower w/machengo, figs and hazelnuts, garlic shrimp and lamb sliders. Also, the portions are a bit more generous then at most of the NYC tapas places I've been to. The wine list is relatively short but with enough good choices and moderately priced. They do not take reservations. We showed up at 6:00 and snagged the last table available. But, since it's tapas, go early and take your time making one delicious selection after the other.

My friend and I have been here several times, most recently to celebrate his birthday. The tapas menu is tasty and varied, the atmosphere relaxed, but the standout is the attitude of management - they really care about taking care of customers. On the food front, we both liked the Fideos - thin noodles with wild boar, chorizo, tomatoes, onions, & scallions, and the Dátiles - bacon wrapped dates stuffed with a chorizo goat cheese emulsion. There are usually so many options that it's hard to narrow down. There will be old favorites and something new to try. They don't officially take reservations, but you can call before you come and get on the list. The last time we were there it started to sprinkle on the outside tables, and we were quickly moved under the awning. The only very slight negative the last time were were there was that our server was a bit slow and haphazard. But the rest of the staff made up for the lack. In general, you'll have a nice meal at a friendly place if you try Buceo 95.

This is a swanky wine bar/tapas restaurant on the UWS. The decor is true to Barcelona and the food is excellent. The menu has something for everyone and the wine list is good too. Some of our favorites are the gambas al ajillo, chorizo, pimientos de padron and the lamb chops. We have been going here for years and have never been disappointed. Buceo 95 is a hidden gem on the Upper West Side. Be prepared to wait for a table, but it is well worth it!

A small intimate space on the upper west side. Personal attention from experienced staff is a win. The food combinations are fantastic. Be European in your approach and make it a slow meal. You will not regret the experience. Great food is supplemented by an equally good wine list of mainly Spanish wines.

Upper west side place. Really beautiful with nice weather when they open the venue up so you can sit outside of sit inside feeling the nice weather. There is a large assortment of wines and they serve a heavy glass. Their tapas is very good. Really friendly service. Nice experience for sure. Relaxing.

Really enjoyed a wide selection of tapas and the quartinos made for the right amount of drink (wine in small carafe). It was crowded with Columbia grad nite patrons, but we sat at the bar and enjoyed the show.

I read about this place before our first visit to NYC, and it was a must-visit. It was the first trip I'd taken with my sister in over 20 years, and we saved Buceo 95 for our last night. We walked from our hotel on Broadway for an early dinner on a Monday. From the concierge, to the support staff, to our superb waiter Nathan, this place exceeded every expectation. We stayed for three courses paired with different wines, plus an after dinner round of wine. Their tapas dishes were prepared perfectly, and the wine list provided a great pairing for every course. We loved the cozy, intimate setting, and the entire feel of the place. Next time I'm in New York, I will definitely be back, and I hope Nathan will still be providing his superior service with a smile. He made our last night in Manhattan truly unforgettable.

We shared several small plates and tried a few different margaritas. Everything was wonderful! And, thanks to the server's advice, we were able to order complimenting foods and left very full & happy.

We spent a wonderful evening here on our last trip to New York and decided to revisit and try to relive the moment - however this was not to be. The place was packed to the rafters with people and the tables are very close together making it difficult for the waiters to get to you to serve your food. Twice i was nearly knocked off my stool by a waiter trying to serve the table next to us. Also there were some very loud groups of people in the bar making conversation virtually impossible. The crysh and the noise all became too much for me and I suffered a panic attack however the manager kindly moved us to sit at the bar, which was a lot more comfortable and we were able to finish our food. The food was ok - not really authentic Spanish food like our last visit and the quality was not the same. Last time the jamon served was authenic pata negra, as good as or even better than we have eaten at home in Spain - this time unfortunately the quality was just not the same although the prices have not reduced at the same rate as the quality of the food.

Had a fabulous evening here. Staff were very attentive; food was outstanding and had a quality selection of beverages! A bit pricey but was worth it for a great experience.

Hungry for tapas on the UWS, we were pleased to find this fun, lively and interesting little place on 95th just west of Amsterdam. Small, crowded and loud, but it has an extensive list of tapas choices, friendly and attentive service and fun food at fairly reasonable prices (for NYC). We had six small plates starting with sizzling shrimp in a garlic sauce, potatoes braves, stuffed peppers, calamari, cod (ceviche style) and wonderfully tasting ground lamb sliders. All were good, with the cod being the only thing we would not re-order again (not a fan of cold fish). Had a very enjoyable evening and look forward to trying some of the other unique choices next time.

Lively atmosphere, quality food and wine selection.

I know some might consider this cheating as its around the corner from me, but I had to throw in a good review because despite everything normally being great, this visit they went above and beyond. There was confusion with our reservation but they sat us down right away anyway, just in time because by about 6:30pm the place packs out. The food is always good here with Tapas standards (Patatas bravas, shishito peppers, Datiles etc.) leavened with some delicious specials. The wine is not only reasonable but excellent (chose something called Cameleopard for the comical label but also great for the price). Near the end of the meal I clumsily spilled my full glass of wine, and there were there instantly to clean things up. And then the waiter casually gave me a full glass to make up for the one that I spilled! Now that's service!

Off the subway at 96th and stumbled across this great find at 11:30 and sat down to 4 fabulous tapas that took me right back to Spain (our trip the year before). This place is Superb!

Excellent food and ambience. Can go light, or have a handful of dishes. Wine was enjoyable and the service was excellent.

A must try in ny. Great service tapas are amazing. We had 9 different plates the potatoes one and the aged ham were standouts none were bad

go to Buceo 95. Some very authentic tapas and some wonderfully inventive takes on the traditional. Extremely friendly, neighborhood place with great food. Noisy and lively.

Something has chanced in this place. Since I live close by i came here in the past several times. But i felt strange recently. Starting with a strange hostess dressed in a Chinese style welcoming you, at an - at least preventing to be -spanish restaurant. Then they squeeze you at the almost full bar despite many tables free ( for most of the evening). You can't order wine per glass, only by a small jug, obvious this is just to drive turnover. On the positive side the tapas type of food was quite good, but of course- expansive! At least the food was good otherwise i would give 2*

We had driven ten hours to visit our daughter for Thanksgiving. After harried unloading & parking our car in a garage, she took us to this restaurant not too far from her apartment. She had previously been several times, taking her sister & visiting friends. Warm, cozy, decorated for Christmas, we were greeted by the owner who was very friendly & welcoming. Small, intimate, candle-lit, we perched near the window. Had a great series of small plates, shared a bottle of wine. It was wonderful! One night, tired & hungry, we even had the idea cross our minds of returning for more, but decided we were in NYC---no shortage of restaurants, we should try somewhere new, so we did. BUT we will be back---it was great! Particularly loved the artichokes "Alcachofin Asado", the baby Lamb Chops "Costilla de Cordero", the shrimp "Gambas Al Ajillo" and the goat cheese croquettes, "Croquetas de Queso de Cabra". DELICIOUS!!

A wonderful little restaurant with extensive Spanish wine list. The food, tapas style, is divine, the service is great, outdoor seating and open window/doors in nice weather is delightful.

I love this little place! Tapas are always my favorite for dinner, but this little restaurant really is one of my favorites in the Big Apple. The bacon-wrapped dates and patatas bravas are a must for your order, and make sure to try some of the delicious red (or white) sangria to go along with your meal. The specials aren't listed on the menu, so make sure to wait for your server to tell you about them before you make any entree decisions. The space is tiny and intimate, so if you have a large party, cross your fingers and get there early! I would take my family, friends, partner, anyone here. The servers are also extremely helpful, so if you are in a rush, or have to be at the theatre (like we did) then let them know, and they'll make sure you get a delicious meal in the time you have!

Really friendly staff and manager. Good food. Very good recommendations of suitable wine to mach our food. Had 4 tapas, two were excellent, two were average. Nice sitting outside.

Excellent service What a lovely restaurant! if you prefer a little more quiet, outdoor seating is available too. Lots of tapas choices - we couldn’t decide what to choose after seeing what was on the neighboring tables. It was all delicious. Sommelier gave us great wine pairings from their varied list and we finished off with a dry sherry

The food was prepared perfectly. I had Pork Belly with veggies and a very lovely salad. The wine was great and contrary to another reviewer, they have good wine. I am not a student and lived in the Napa Valley for years. :-)

It was really great for me get into this Spanish tapas bar. Without any plan for Friday night, we really enjoys with their food, the way they mix, the way they feature tapas. Thanks so much Sharon for your advice and help. You were so closely. It is really a place you may go and enjoy the kitchen

We've been in NYC for a short 10 day break and only found this restaurant on the last night. Having looked at a few others in the upper west side we decided to have our last night here. It was a great decision. Food is excellent. Lovely tapas and lots of choice. Great wine choices and service was also perfect. Great for couples and groups as well. A vibrant atmosphere. Don't fret over where else to go, just try this place. Trust me, its well worth it.

This place is lively, friendly and packed with locals, especially of Spanish descent. I tried the recommended special dish (quail), and i can honestly say - one of the best quails i have ever tasted. Ambiance is amazing! Note that this tapas place does not accept reservations.

This is a good rendition of spanish tapas. Many of the classics you would find in Seville or Madrid were on the menu (e.g., albondigas). It's a noisy, high energy place and we in fact we seated at a table we shared with another couple. The staff are very friendly and the whole experience very warm and fun.

From their skirt steak to the duck breast, cauliflower, eggplant or goat cheese croquettes...whatever your tapas fancy is - you cannot go wrong here. Great selection of Spanish wines! Very good service.

went with friends for a light meal. place was nice with some outdoor seating and the tables inside were bar high with stools. very nice wine list and some very interesting tapas. we had 1/2 dozen different selections from meat to fish to cheese. total check including drinks was about $150 for the 4 of us. service was very good and we all enjoyed our meal

My friend and I stopped by after the theater recently around 11:00 pm on a Saturday night for drinks and a light meal. The kitchen was open until midnight so we had plenty of time to make selections. We chose the blistered green peppers which are fabulous and a favorite. Also had the calamari with squid ink rice, and the lamb chops. Everything was delicious as usual. The atmosphere is cozy and friendly. A real neighborhood place. Love it!

After reading good reviews, we decided upon Buceo95. They offer a great selection of excellent small plates such as brussel sprouts, meatballs and even salty/spicy chips! We have been to Spain several times and Buceo 95 does an excellent job of authenticating the style and taste! We sat in the dining area for dinner, but the bar looked to be a great place to have dinner/drinks. The service was attentive without making us feel rushed.

This popular tapas place has fairly authentic Spanish food. On a Friday night, it was terribly crowded and noisy, but the harried maitre d’ won our hearts by bringing a complimentary round of Cava to reward our patience for a table. Service wasn’t bad if you don’t mind one item arriving at a time, which enforced the sharing ritual. By far the best thing on the menu was the eggplant with melted tortilla cheese. The baccalao was disappointing. Surprisingly the small pitcher of white Sangria, which was good, served all four of us. It’s a good choice when going to Symphony Space.

Buceo 95 is the closest we have found in style and menu in NYC to the tapas bars and restaurants we visit in Spain. It has an excellent wine list, with several sherry selections as well as Spanish and French wines. The food selection is good, the quality excellent. It's pretty much all "small plates", which is what tapas should be. The space is small and intimate, with seating for about 30, plus another 10 or so at the bar. All of the tables are tall, with tall chairs to match, so it may not work for small children. Noise level is moderate. A nice touch is hooks under the tables for purses and jackets. It's the perfect location if you are attending an event at Symphony Space, as it's only a block away. Note that the kitchen opens at 5:30 PM. Prior to that you can order drinks, wine and the cheese plates.

Great find! A nice change from other after work places - a bit of European flair, good wine selection, inventive tapas menu. Consider the intimate size tables part of its European charm. Definitely worth a visit.

This restaurant is a small tucked away spot on West 95th Street but the food is outstanding. We shared eight different "small plates" among the four of us and it was plenty of food and every dish was interesting, different and delicious. Prices are reasonable and service was efficient and friendly. Highly recommended!

First wine bar in the 90th on the UWS... Try it!
A touch of Spain on the UWS
Excellent tapas, with a very good selection of wines, mainly Spanish varietals. Small cozy place with a great neighborhood vibe, friendly service, nice outdoor seating in the summer.
