No complaints here

By Ellie P |

The service was fantastic, all staff were well presented and polite. The food was fantastic! We have recently been to Italy, and it was better then the food there. I had carbonara and my partner had the veal parmigiana. We sat out the rear in the really nice courtyard, it was very peaceful. This was the best dining experience we had in New York in the 3 weeks we were here, don't miss out on this!

Don't walk past this place!

By shayjet |

We were hungry, and this was the first "nice looking" place that we came across for a delicious meal, nice glass of wine, and wonderful atmosphere. More importantly, we were able to walk right in, and we could see from the sidewalk that they had a lovely garden patio out back. The food was delicious, and the staff very friendly. After we left, we walked further down the street and discovered many other "nice looking" restaurants with sidewalk dinning. Those places were pretty well packed. I think we discovered a hidden gem! Everyone's meal was great, and they were even willing to make half portions of some of the meals for my teenage daughters, which was a very nice gesture.

Do not cheat yourself. Eat her

Had The Parma pizza. Best pizza I ever had. Stupid rule from Tripadvisor that a revue has to be 100 signs so you have to say bla bla

Groovy Lunch in Little Italy

By Joseph S |

Had a delicious lunch of Linguini Pescatore washed with a bottle of Chianti. Coupled with Frank Sinatra playing in the background turned it into a pleasurable dining experience.

bad surprise

By line a |

the price was way too high for what we ate. It was good tho, but we paid 71$ for two thin Margaritas pizzas and a “kelce cesar salad” with only salad and little toast. We drunk nothing but water and had to pay a 10$ tip already on the check.

Fantastic spot in Little Italy!

By Jane D |

Buona Notte was one of our favorite stops on our recent trip to NYC! Fantastic service from several waiters, greeted and thanked by the owner and we only stopped in for an appetizer and wine. The garden is a gorgeous little break from the craziness of the city and foos was spot on!

Restaurant closed

By weebles_chip |

My husband and I went there Wednesday 4/12 and found it closed. Had great food. Hope they open back up. Went across the street to Casa Bella and it was very good.

The food does not live up to the pricing

By Chutney101 |

Great service, good wine and nice atmosphere. But the pricing is a bit ambitious. Great feature is that they close the street around 17:30 and then the fun begins.

Surprises at checkou

By elainems1978 |

I had a very bad experience last month at this place with two other friends. We went for the special of the day which was under ten dollars each. We ordered one juice and two waters and the check came charging us 60. We asked to fix it and they changed to 50. After more complains finally came the right amount of less than 40.

Excellent

By LG L |

Little Italy is a must when visiting New york. The restaurants on mulberry street all try to get you to come in and eat. Thus restaurant was excellent. I had the chicken lemon and asked for capers--probably the best I've had. The white sangria was amazing but expensive! The gnocchi was great and the kids had fettuccine alfredo. The portion was small, so order two if you have big eaters. Would definantely return.

Satisfying and Hearty Italian Food

By redeco |

It was already 1:15 and we had until only 3Pm to make our coach connection and we were hungry. My companions wanted Italian food, so we proceeded up Mulberry Street, stopping to look at Buona Notte's menu. "You want Sicilian?" the guy out front asked, pushing menus into our hands. "Sure" we said, allowing us to be escorted into the restaurant. It wasn't crowded; and we were seated at a nice table by the window. We each ordered a different kind of pasta and a Caesar salad to share. My dish was Rigatoni alla Amatriciana, one of the best known Italian sauces that originates in the mountains in Lazio just north of Rome. The dish was pleasantly scented with garlic and filled with pieces of onion, tomato, and black olives...Que Bella! The Caesar Salad was good with crisp greens at room temperature; I suspect the dressing was commercially prepared. All of us loved our pasta and we enjoyed the prompt service and kind attention of the staff. The place is clean with an interesting menu. The decor is relatively simple. I'd like to try it for dinner sometime for veal or something more complicated. This is a difficult restaurant to rate and I'd like to put it someplace between three and four...but, alas, one has to choose. This is a good place to eat...satisfying and hearty. And our lunch cost us each about $15 plus tip.

Lovely Lunch

By CandMAdelaide |

Just happened upon this restaurant while discovering Little Italy. It was late afternoon and we wanted a late lunch. The guy out the front was not pushy as some others are, so we went in. Very glad we did. There were only a few other people in there so it was quiet, but the staff were very attentive. Food was great tasting as well as great value. It was a Sunday and Mulberry Street was closed to traffic so it was nice to stroll on the road and not have to dodge people. I don't know if this happens every Sunday.

Skip this restaurant!

By Jennifer B |

After the glass of sangria and an appetizer, my date and I had enough of the horrible service. We asked for the check, and gave us a bill that was not ours. Brought it to their attention. Gave us the correct bill. When given back the receipt to sign, it was the previous bill that was not ours. The manager was an incompetent unprofessional jerk to say the least. Skip this restaurant. The 1 star is for the "garden" in the back where they forget they have customers.

Dinner in Little Italy

By cpzamboni |

When we visit Little Italy this is our choice for dinner. The food is excellent as is the service. Is a great place to eat especially after a long day in the city. You won't be disappointed in the food or service!

Great service and and the ambiance is excellent

By Kari B |

Great service and excellent ambiance ask for Joey he is a great host and the limoncello is awesome stop and take a load off

Courtyard Seating

By mad155 |

We have been here 3 times over the past 15 years and love coming back to it. It's like going home. We were able to sit in the courtyard each time and enjoy the beautiful weather NYC offers.

Italian let-down

By Close2Central |

We liked the sangria or should I say its effect, but the food was far from anything to write home about. I've had better generic pasta from a bag. The price we paid could compare to one you'd usually pay for a five star meal. The staff was friendly (but ended up charging the tip on the receipt). Will not eat there again.

good pasta, chractaristic place

By Leopold M |

we had very good pastas here, arrabiata, carbonara, tortellini. the pinot grigio was below standard, poor quality. some the waiters were a bit grumpy and did not show a lot of interest. a 10% tax plus a close to 20% service charge we put on the bill. overcharhed to my opinion.

Good Price, Good Food and Great Location

By tweedybird26 |

This unassuming but attractive restaurant in famed Little Italy offers good food, a well priced wine list and a pasta special promotion price without the aggressive sales pitch of other nearby restaurants. We enjoyed the tasty, good sized pasta portions served as promised with free bread and water! For $7 each we added a glass of nice wine. Clean bathrooms are a plus too.

Little Italy Restaurant...could have been in any area

By RetirementTime |

While visiting New York, we stopped for lunch at Buona Notte hoping we would have really great Italian food. I ordered the fettuccine alfredo. There wasn't a lot of sauce on it and what was on there tasted like a regular cheese sauce and not alfredo sauce. Service was spotty. I wouldn't make a return trip.

Excellent authentic Italian restaurant with the best lasagne EVER !

By Carol55M |

After a busy day sightseeing we stopped for a drink and stayed for dinner. Gabriella is an asset to this hotel as hostess with the mostest. She was friendly, welcoming and knew about the dishes on offer and great at engaging with passers by. I chose lasagne and will say it was the BEST lasagne I have ever tasted. This restaurant also has a rear garden for quieter dining but we preferred the pavement experience.

Old Style Italian

By tripfoodie18 |

We were lucky to get a patio table on a busy, beautiful night so that was a large part of the experience. The food was OK, my husband had Lasagna which he thought was good and I had 2 appetizers calamari, which I think were frozen and a stuffed artichoke that was heavy with bread but not much flavor. The wine was reasonable and the service was good. I think that it is hit and miss with the food. It is OK but there are probably better choices on Mulberry St.

A smaller Italian Restaurant but don't let the size fool u.

By Darwin E |

The service was great and the selection was great as well. The food was amazing and the prices very reasonable. If u want a very real Italian eating experience I highly recommend this beautiful restaurant!

FALSE

By Albertomush71 |

Old fish, which they obviously pass off as fresh. Inedible mussels, the fish was frozen. That then the place is not even badly furnished, nice for couples, but the food is really poor quality.... obviously no final tip

Fresh, tasty and light

By Donnalynn323 |

My husband and 14 year old daughter took me here to celebrate my birthday. We had clams oregano to, calamari, and a stuffed artichoke as appetizers. They were all delicious...my favorite were the clams. For our meal, my husband and I both ordered baked shrimp, while my daughter had the veal scallopine. Although I do not eat veal, I wound up eating a lot of her dinner. It was fabulous. She enjoyed the shrimp as well. Like Sangria? Make sure you order a carafe. They make their own.....need I say more? However, it is a little pricey! The meal itself had good prices for "Little Italy". My husband and my daughter shared an almond rolled ice cream for dessert priced at $8.00. Terrific price for New York City. We will definately return to this delicious restaurant! Hope you enjoy it as much as we did!

Poor service, and they automatically tack on an 18% gratuity! Beware!

By MontebelloMom |

The pasta dish was excellent, but the service was horrendous. After our food was delivered, we never saw a waiter until our check was brought, to which they added an 18% gratuity for our party of 2!!!! Dessert was included in our special but they did not bring it to us until after we had received our check, and I had to ask 2 different people for our dessert. No coffee was offered. I asked to speak to a manager but I don't even think there was one on-site. The staff seemed to be very disorganized and did not appear to understand English. I left cash to cover the meal and tax, but did NOT pay the gratuity. Horrendous service = zero gratuity. Overall, Little Italy won't be around much longer. The restaurants are disappearing and being replaced with Chinese restaurants and novelty shops. If you want a REAL Italian meal with a REAL Italian atmosphere, head over to Arthur Avenue in the Bronx.

Wonderful experience on our anniversary

By Tombellwood |

We had dinner at Buona Notte in NYC on 12/14 for our anniversary. It was a fantastic experience! We had the Limoncello Spritz drinks which were delicious. They make the lemoncello themselves. The calamari was the best we’ve ever had. Cooked to perfection with the lightest of batter. We also tried the Black Tagiolini with Seafood. I had never had this kind of pasta, but it was magnificent. It’s flavor was delicate and sublime. The seafood in it was amazing. I am so glad we ordered it. The staff was equally outstanding. Gabriella was our server and the manager Betty came to our table and shared much about the restaurant and menu and we also got to learn about her home country of Turkey. We were so appreciative of food and the people and wanted to say thank you.

Long night waiting

By Sunshine60725489894 |

Very poor service. Resources not managed well. Waited well over an hour for food after it was ordered. Other groups coming after were provided service before our small group. Staff not very attentive. Had to ask for things several times (bread, drinks, etc.). We saw a couple of other small groups leave due to lack of service. Food that eventually came was generally good and hot and/or warm. Portions were adequate for the most part.

Went there for lunch several

By Manny B |

Went there for lunch several days ago. Dino and Emmanuelle were working that afternoon for lunch. Very friendly, very professional and very good food . Outdoor seating during Covid-19. Excellent lunch

Good spot good food.

By LookingForReasonable |

We stopped here for dinner on a hot day in July and it was quite nice. Service was friendly and the menu had something on it for everyone in the family. Lasagna was excellent as were the pizzas. My wife had one of the specials which she really enjoyed as well.

Great afternoon

By mslotman |

One off the first Italian restaurants when you walk from China town to Little Italy with a nice sunny terrace. After enjoying our drinks on the sunny terrace we ordered the Spaghetti with meatballs and the Lugini alla Vongole to share; excellent choice. Well seasoned saus, perfectly cooked shells, juicy meatballs and delicious all dente pasta. What we didn’t like; standard 20% tip on the bill. Tip should be earned and not a given.

Started well then...nosedived

By Milo886 |

Host reeled us in on the promise of a good dinner so we gave it a shot. We ordered drinks, a starter and main meals. A few minutes after our starter arrived the waiter told us the kitchen had to be shut down and no main meals will be served. It was pity because our starter and drinks were ordered with the main meals taken into consideration. These things can happen. We finished the starter and drinks. Weirdly after the starter the waiter came back and said the main meals will actually be served even with the kitchen closing down. Not a bad turnaround except our rhythm was a bit interrupted. The main meals came out and within a minute or two of starting it the waiter came and placed our bill on the table. I figured we'll be able to pay once we are done. Meantime no additional drinks were offered. Also concluded we will not be given the opportunity to have any cold desserts. The waiter came back a minute later to check if we have paid. We were still eating so I apologised and told him we'd get to it as soon as we can. He placed the bill back down and walked off. It was very unsettling and rude considering other people were still having drinks in the restaurant. The rush made us wolf down our meals while the waiter was pacing around us. Not long after my last bite the waiter came to take my payment. I didn't tip and he took offence saying the kitchen was not his fault and he expected tip. I pointed out to him that the kitchen problem was not my fault either and that the meal experience was very uncomfortable and sub standard. Paying the full amount for a rushed and badly managed meal was a fair outcome. I think on another night the experience could have been very nice but unfortunately this was our experience. The reaction of a restaurant when things don't go to plan tells a lot and in this case it revealed a major weakness. I've experienced bigger restaurant issues in the past and yet the response from staff would be very reassuring and professional - unlike here.

Overpriced tourist trap

By Rod R |

Classic tourist trap. Overpriced food, mandatory 20% tip and 'operating fee' added. Bottle of still water all in cost $12.20. We asked for loud music to be turned down and were told they couldn't control the volume. Just avoid - much better elsewhere.

Riped off and harschly dismissed

By Zuerichatz |

The food was okay, although the waiter changed the tv channel with the bread knive he used for cutting, during our food was getting cold on the counter. But the worst is, he was cheeky enough to pur 25 procent tips on the bill, without asking us. (15 procent is ok. in expensive restaurants you can give 20 procent) But 25 procent! For a harschly service! The couple next to us was wondering about the bill too, but the did'nt complain. We did! And that was a mistake. The waiter screamed throught the whole restaurant. He affirmed we would'nt pay the whole bill. It was a long discussion. I feel sorry for the manager, the cook and everybody else, but this waiter ruines everything.

A good tourist restuarant.

By Gregg H |

As the City has changed dramatically over the last 30 years, right in tht heart of China town (which has expanded beyond belief) near Canal Street is the Buona Notte Ristorante at 120 Mulberry Street. It is a good tourist restuarant. It has a nice wine list and the decor is cozy and traditional. The menu has traditional Southern Italian cusine. It is a small restuarant with plenty of mirrows which allows you to people watch from any seat in the Restuarant . It has a small outdoor eating area which enhances the restuarant's appearance and resembles small restuarant you would find in Rome. The service was excellent. The bread was fresh, the meat balls were tasy, the suasage had fennel but I asked for pasta al dente and I received a soft pasta. They offer a range of lunch specials to get the tourist in the door. The food was good for tourist, but as a person who travels to Italy several times a year it was somewhat disappoint-ing. We had a delightful lunch and enjoyed the restuarant's atmosphere and for a brief moment wandered off to Rome.

My first bad review

By Steve300359 |

Looked ok from outside, staff nice enough, waited awhile for food. Food was average at the best. Very expensive when you start adding $8 for still water plus tax plus tip, same price for small beer. They add the tip automatically. I would honestly try elsewhere.

Great find in Little Italy

By Wishwewerethere |

Ate lunch here after our tour of Little Italy. What a find! We enjoyed outside seating and delicious food. The minestrone soup, gnocchi, and house chianti were tasty. Fun location to people watch while you eat.

Amazing food

By Tour61386355663 |

Great staff and amazing food. The door man Joey really won me over to come in and give it a try. Highly recommend

Disapointing

By Alexandra D |

We went there for lunch and we had lasagna, salad and gnocchi. The salad and the gnocchis were good but the lasagna weren't. No sauce, look like frozen food. At the end, when we ask the check, the service is included (more than 15%) and nobody tell you that (some other tables and us weren't ok for that) but it is an obligation... quiet weird when they ask for tips again after taking your credit card. Not a good experience.

Love the alfredo!

By Pfam07 |

We didn’t get to sit in the garden because it was expected to rain, but we really enjoyed the food and the service! The alfredo was easily the best I’ve had. The French bread was the same: so delicious by itself. The service was great! We received our food super quickly. I got a Venetian Blush cocktail which was also delicious. I definitely want to come back here on our next trip.

Simply Excellent

By N D |

Three of us shared a charcuterie board board between us before each selecting a different dish. Each was superb. Good atmosphere, good service and excellent food.

Excellent Food & Great Service

By samsowner |

We wandered in for a late lunch and had a delicious meal with excellent service. The staff was very friendly, and the Lasagna al Forno was amazing! Our son had the Penne all Arrabiata. It was spicy, as advertised, and he loved it. My husband and daughter both had the Spaghetti Bolognese. My husband commented that he thought it was a small serving at first sight, but it turned into a never-ending bowl of delicious pasta. He was very pleased with the serving size and the taste. We also had the homemade sangria. It was very tasty! My husband's spaghetti was a couple of minutes late coming out, and the staff immediately gave us a discount, which we were not expecting and honestly tried to decline (it was only a couple of minutes). The restaurant itself was very clean and beautifully decorated for the holidays. Overall it was a terrific experience, and we will definitely be back.

Disappointed to be honest! Wouldn’t go back!

By Debbie Houghton |

My partner and I decided to find a restaurant this evening in Little Italy for our first night during our weekend away. Walking along the streets at night and looking for that first glimpse of where to pick, we saw Bouna Notte and the outside looked inviting, so we went in. To start our first impressions were good - friendly front of house, nice spot in the window and happy hour offered. I wanted a Rose and asked if it was a dry wine, to which the waiter kindly came back with a sample to try. I ordered mussels and my partner wanted a smaller sized main meal gnocchi to start. The waiter informed us that this wasn't possible as they didn't adjust the menu based on requests, so he had the caprese instead. I ordered a shrimp salad and he ordered the gladiatori pizza for main. The starters were fine, but whilst we were still eating them, the waiter arrived with our mains and left them on the table. We were so shocked and have never experienced this ever before in a restaurant. Who serves the main before clearing away the starter and whilst these are still being eaten? A sloppy front of house does basically! The mains were not great, the pizza was pretty inedible and most of it was left. When the cheque arrived, we realised that the restaurant included a mandatory 18% service charge! Of which we would not have chosen to pay ordinarily given our experience. I would not go back and will steer clear in the future personally! A shame as it was a lot of money for what it was and the restaurant lacks overall class, particularly the front of house staff who must work on a bonus for bums on seats and once you are a committed payee, nothing else seems to matter!

If you love Carbonara...

By Holli R |

Cozy and quaint ambiance, was there with a friend and we could easily carry on conversation. Could be a romantic date place too. We ordered lasagne and carbonara. Both were excellent. The carbonara is traditional and the some of the best Carbonara I've ever had!

Very bad

By giacomo562009 |

Absolutely to forget, asked for a portion of squid arrived after 40 minutes, linguine with frozen shrimp and still half raw, we left half the other dishes the best thing was water

Nice place, average food

By kevinhuskie |

So this was failed experiment to find another restaurant in Little Italy as good as Pellegrino's. We decided that we would walk down to Little Italy without a booking and just have a look at which restaurant caught our eye and give it a try. Buona Notte is a nice little place, friendly staff and it looked like it ticked all the boxes so we decided to give it a try. Inside the decor is nice, nothing too fancy but it's a nice little place with good authentic Italian restaurant atmosphere. We both fancied some pasta and we picked some bruschetta and olive starters to share and then decided to order two nice Pasta based main meals to share. Nothing was wrong with the service and you're probably wondering why my review is average...it's all about the food. Basically, the food was just very basic and it didn't have loads of taste. I couldn't say it was bad but it just wasn't really good. I expected a lot more and I left pretty disappointed. As mentioned, the food was not bad at all and we ate it all but I wouldn't go back and I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Unfortunately, I'd say this is an average restaurant in a very competitive area so I'd rather go elsewhere in future.

Delicious

By Jet706378 |

Our server was the best! She recommended delicious dishes and was knowledgeable on the area as well. The food and wine were so delicious!! Best meal we had in New York!!

Best of the Little Italy Strip...

By S_Leach |

My husband & I saw SO many restaurants all up and down both sides of the street.. which one to choose ? Then we see a little place with a cop sitting on his horse drinking a cappuccino ... Well, how could we not pick this charming little place? If it was good enough for a cop on a horse drinking cappuccino, it was good enough for us ! Glad we chose it, we sat out on the patio which only had about 4 tables - the officer said we made a good choice, it was one of the only independent restaurants still operating in the area... been in business by family for decades ! We each had spaghetti & meatballs, good choice - it was beautiful, like momma made (and she could have!) The entire meal was great. the service was great - attentive and professional but freindly - nice wine, salad was fresh, dessert (?) was lovely and lattes after were great end to out meal... we hated to leave

Great courtyard seating, true Italian food

By jhw80503 |

A wonderful place to retreat to in Little Italy if you can be seated in the courtyard. It is quiet and peaceful so after a tasty lunch you are ready to go back into the bustle on New York.

Hello Little Italy!

By MarissaP-EnriqueP |

We decided to have our Valentines lunch here. The food was good and the atmosphere was nice. The waiter was attentive and friendly and the resturant was nice and clean.

Wonderful Italian Chaos

By lscCanfield_Ohio |

Buona Notte on Mullberry St. in New York's Little Italy is a noisy, lively, restaurant with great Italian food (I especially like the Lasagna). The atmosphere is sometimes chaotic, but it is genuine Italian fun. All of the waiters are friendly, helpful, AND from Italy! Joseph, the Maitre'd will lure you in with his winning smile and warm welcome. Whenever I'm in New York I make it a point to eat here and Joseph always treats us like old friends. If you like a quiet, somber place, this is not he place for you, but if you like good Italian food, atmoshere and friendliness, don't miss it.

Poor service, food just not right

By Scott22 |

Waiter was no where to be found. Lunch was served 1 1/2 hours later and the food wasn’t that good. The table next to us. 2 meals were served 1 pizza was made wrong and they forgot about the fourth person meal. They asked to speak to a manager and they said there was none. After that , the waiter disappeared. The service was BAD. I would avoid this business.

Highly recommend Buona Notte

By Sunseasand151 |

Nice atmosphere , Friendly and efficient staff and excellent food. Go on give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Nice atmosphere, average food

By Elizabeth K |

We picked this place at random, and the people working there were pretty friendly which helped us make up our minds. We sat in the back garden, which was pretty and felt nicely secluded. The menu did not show Prosecco by the glass but our server was happy to accommodate us. The food was fine but nothing special: I've had better pomodoro sauce from a jar, and my friend's lasagna and my raviolis tasted exactly the same, just in different configurations. But the price was pretty good and the food was decent, so if you go in expecting that, you won't be disappointed.

Longest lunch ever

By Sharon and Family |

Wasted slot of time waiting for mediocre food. Had to send one dish back because there was a bone in the chicken. Then we were overcharged and had to wait again for the error to be corrected. Slow painful lunch, could not wait to leave!!

Good food, terrible service!

By johneric76 |

We walked into this place during a stroll into Little Italy. The food was good, but our drinks were never refilled, the wait staff came around to take our order, bring our food & we had to finally flag him down for our check just to find out $5 had been added for gratuity on bad service! When we paid, the waiter took it upon himself to add my $5.25 change to his tip jar. Needless to say, we had to track him down to retrieve our change. I wasn't encouraging future bad service. Take my advice, stay FAR away from this place. The food is good, but not that good!

Very good

By gskaufman11 |

Stopped in for lunch after visiting the 9/11 museum. We were seating right away in the back which was just fine as it was a nice roomy area to sit. The waiter was very nice and attentive. The food was excellent. We had lasagna. I will dine at Buona Notte again when I visit NYC

Fresh Pasta

By Marissa1224 |

Ate here for dinner with my family and it was delicious. They had fresh made pasta and yummy sangria. The staff was very friendly. We had an overall great experience.

Very simple but super yummy

By reginacalcagno |

Excellent quality/price restaurant in Little Italy. The place and the menu are simple, but it's original Italian food, very yummy, and the service very good as well!!! <3 we loved it!

Understaffed

By Lauren T |

Yes, we came here on a Saturday night during San Gennero, but the restaurant was only 3/4 full and we waited a very long time to even see a menu. Our waiter was rushing us to order when we finally did received menus and waters. The mussels were extremely undercooked (mushy) and when we told our waiter, he said "the kitchen it too busy to fix it". We had the appetizer removed from our bill. The restaurant was out of the artichoke appetizer but they neglected to mention this until we were ordering our meals. The pasta carbonara was very tiny. The backyard is lovely and its a shame the owner does not put more into his staff training. He also needs to hire more waitstaff so native new yorkers want to return. Would NOT recommend dining here.

Decent place, decent food

By Richard A |

Nice little place, seems family owned. Good range of typically Italian food. Attentive staff, sometimes overly so. Food came quickly. The pizza had a thicker base than we are used to in Italian places (but not deep pan thick!!). The pasta was al dente, which was fine for me. They do gluten free pasta but only penne on the night we were there. I’ve marked the restaurant down one level as we were offered the specials menu at the door (to entice us in) but then wasn’t offered or once we’d sat down. Also the sign outside said happy hour drinks but we were charged full price. https://www.tripadvisor.com/ShowUserReviews-g60763-d424306-r734366381-Buona_Notte-New_York_City_New_York.html#

Poor Service.

By ArtieBoo |

Service is just poor, Poor Service, they listed wine by glass or bottle, we tried to buy a bottle and they didn’t have any (white or red) They never came back to asked us if we want more water or wine, we have to looking for the waiter all the time. The hostess tried to invite more people to the restaurant where they don’t have enough servers. Anyway bad experience and food OK.

Superb Italian Food

By Californiagirl |

This place is amazing. The service was great, the food superb!!! And the price extremely affordable. We had a great dinner with friends. The next day my husband realized that his credit card was missing. Retracing our steps, we figured we must have left it at the restaurant. We went back there and sure enough, they had it in the cash register. The man told us he tried to catch us but we disappeared before he had a chance. I recommend this if you like Italian food. Delicious!!!

Good Italian restaurant in Little Italy with great service

By Anwar |

Ordered meatballs for appetizer and seafood pasta for main meal. The meatballs were excellent and seafood was very good. Waitress was friendly and helpful with menu. When it’s happy hour during the week drinks are half price.

Buona Notte Little Italy - 3 stars

By houstonr |

I have been to Buona Notte on every trip to New York. This is at least my fourth visit, Maybe I built it up too much but this time I noticed several things. First of all the food was just average, not bad but nothing to rave about. My lasagna was watery and the other items equally ordinary. Staff was nice and service fine. Time for Buona Notte to up the quality or I will try other restaurants in Little Italy next time.

At its finest....

By Amber F |

Walking into Little Italy we were hungry and had no idea where to go grab a bite. Walking down the sidewalk there was a cute blonde girl standing outside the restaurant with a menu. She talked to us and told us about the restaurant and invited us to look over the menu. We liked what we saw so she led us inside to a table where the waiter took over. The staff was amazing~our waiter was the best ever. So friendly and gave his recommendations when I asked his favorites. I had the fettuccini alfredo and my guy had the shrimp with angel hair. The pasta was so fresh and wonderful I think that was the first time I've ever had home-made pasta (I think it was home-made). The atmosphere was warm, inviting and the ambiance was just perfect. Low lighting that was romantic and the food was amazing. HIGHLY RECOMMEND FOR DESSERT: tiramisu. I've never tasted such amazing tiramisu ever. So light and rich and perfectly sweet and you could taste ALL the flavors and it was glorious :) definitely will return for a meal on the next trip to NYC and I'll highly recommend this place to everyone :) Do yourself a favor and try this place....you'll thank me

Authentic Italian in the heart of Little Italy

By Amanda Z |

My husband and I ate here last Friday night and both ordered one of the specials. The food was delicious and plentiful. I would have given a full 5 stars but my gnocchi was luke warm and definitely not hot.

Little Italy

By POLLYwillow34 |

My daughter and I had 5 days in New york for big birthdays! Our meal, by sheer chance in Little Italy was no disappointment at all. The food was lovely, hot , fresh and very tasty. The service was good as was the price. Highly recommended.

We have been to Little Italy many times and on this trip ate at Buona Notte. Chicken Marsala was wonderful. My husband had lasagna both were delicious! Check it out!

Over Priced Less Than Average Italian

By RTHG |

I attended here with my family and was very disappointed with the quality of the food. A poor pizza at $15 would be acceptable, but at $24 they are having a laugh at customers’ expense. Calamari also one of the worst I have had and I have had a lot having lived in Italy for several years. Try one of the other many Italian restaurants before trying this one. To be balanced the staff were friendly and the service ok, just a shame about the food and the price.

Good food

By teresahughes65 |

Friendly service. Lobster ravioli, rice balls and burrata with prosciutto were the highlights. All very good. The eggplant parmigiana was surprisingly awful. To start with, the eggplant wasn’t breaded and pan fried, which to me means it wasn’t really cooked in the parmigiana style. So not as advertised. The cheese and sauce were very salty. I didn’t eat it it was so bad. Other than that, the meal was pleasant, but pricey.

No surprises

By Nacho M |

Buona Notte is a good Italian in the middle of Little Italy and Chinatown. The service is correct and the prices are within what is normal in Manhattan.

th bill shows the rip off

By DutchTravelagent |

we had spaghetti and 2 glasses of 'homemade sangria' after having seen the prices on a streetside billboard. Once inside, the prices in the menu were a few dollars higher than on that billboard. the food was good, and so was the sangria. but when the bill came, there was an extra amount of over 9 dollars, plus of course tax. We ended up paying over 60 dollars for a spaghettilunch.

This place makes you feel like family!

By SALabbe |

We piped hybrid Thursday for some cocktails and then came back for dinner Saturday. They remembered us and treated us very well. I asked that the chef make me what ever he felt like - it was great and res ably priced. All of the stag is friendly - go, you won’t regret it! .

Delicious and great service.

By Debnevar |

When I was in Little Italy in New York I ate at this quaint little spot. The service was great, they were always asking if I needed anything and how everything was tasting. I had the Chicken. Francese which was very good but their Tiramisu was heavenly. The whole experience was good. I sat on a table outside which is more fun and you get to see all the lights at night.

A+++ highly recommend

By Emily |

Amazing food and drinks, the host made the experience! He had the best upbeat attitude and drew you into the restaurant! They are short staffed like most places but hustled to make up for it

Good Italian

We were walking through Little Italy around lunch and were starving, so we stopped in this restaurant. We were glad we did. It had a lot to offer on the menu and everything we ordered was delicious. no one was disappointed. We would suggest this restaurant to anyone wanting close to authentic Italian. A different Thanksgiving

By Michelle T |

My daughter and I had a lovely Thanksgiving dinner at a Buona Notte after an afternoon of walking the nearby neighborhoods. The service was fast, friendly and efficient. The food was excellent. We loved having our meal right next to the window and watch the passersby. Nice all around.

Really nice Italian

By Liam Y |

We ate at Buona Notte on our first night in New York. After travelling for 12 hours and then doing some sight-seeing we were very tired and very hungry so we jumped into the first nice looking place we saw. Buona Notte. I had the fried mozzarella to start which appeared to be french toast with a mozzarella filling and marinara sauce which was really nice and light. For main we had spaghetti carbonara and spaghetti and meatballs with a tomato sauce. Both meals were really enjoyable and the service was excellent.

Great "real" Italian Diner in NYC

By Pmsxm |

We had a great Italian diner.. and I mean REAL Italian, not "American" Italian..... The food was fantastic, reminded us a small restaurant that we were used to go on the island of Capri called "Pepino"... The service was good. We had a nice table on the little terrace on their porch, ambiance was great... Love to watch the "activity" of Mulberry St at night. We will certainly go back next time we are in the big apple!

sit in the back courtyard

By mad155 |

We first ate here 10 years ago. We thought we would try and find it again and surprise, we did. I had some incredible spaghetti and meatballs and the wife had a chicken dish that was amazing. I highly recommend that you sit back in the courtyard. apartments look down on you and you have no idea that new york city is right out the front door. great food and great prices. service was also excellent and not hovering.

Best Italian place in the neighborhood. Nice and cozy, the patio is a hit, ask for the patio if you are around here. Emanuel is the best!! Highly recommended

Sole Was Amazing

By Debby N |

We stopped in on our way through Little Italy. My 12 and 14 year old ordered from the nightly special menu. Spaghetti and meatballs was a big portion size and the meatballs were fantastic. My son ordered the Margherita pizza I wouldn't recommend the pizza it was less than tasty. I ordered the gnocchi and it was good, the portion size was good and the sauce was tasty. My husband ordered the Sole and it was amazing. The taste was fantastic. Sorry we all didn't order that for dinner. $80 with a tip for dinner for 4 not too bad.

Nice restaurant.

By Charis P |

I came with my wife for a little italy experience. We order spaghetti carbonara and penne a la vodka. Was great the plates. I lived in Italy and i am familiar with italian cucine. Nice servers, very gently and friendly. I give 4 stars cause we didn't take the 20% off for the first check in from yelp. It still running but our server told me that this is from last year.. Take it off then :-)

The place is very nice, the friendliness of the staff is greatly appreciated, their dishes are excellent. You can't stop going.

Beautiful atmosphere and great food!

By Emma O |

Beautiful authentic Italian restaurant. I had lasagne and my partner had pizza. Gorgeous red wine and great service. Atmosphere feels really nice and the lady who served us was lovely. We travelled from our hotel on Times Square and it was only a short journey to Canal Steet then short walk from there to Mulberry Street. Definitely worth visiting!

Disappointed and worst Italian food ever!

By Stella Mari O |

I believed Google Maps reviews and had the saddest pasta and worst Italian food of my life. I ended up having to to add some salt to be able to eat half of it. The service was super slow and our glasses were dirty. I don’t know how someone could give it 5 stars, wish I could give zero. Go somewhere else, anywhere.

Buono Notte

By Michele R |

Tried this restaurant while visiting NYC ....Can’t say enough about this place!!! It was so good we had to go back before we left town ...not only is the food awesome but the atmosphere is perfect ....I wanted a place that had soft lights ...cozy feel ...and on top of having this it had the best music playing ....Frank Sinatra style ......if you are tempted to go somewhere else “forget about it” , as our new friend who welcomed us kept saying 😝. We will for sure go back on our next visit 👏🏻😊

Disappointed

By ttsctravelers |

Our group lived in Italy for 3 years and love authentic Italian food. Stopped in to have a snack and an authentic cappuccino, arancini and to top it off a cannoli. Service was Extremely slow and when we finally recieved our orders it was very disappointing. Even the cappuccino's were not authentic. We were sure they were from a powder mix and they were expensive!

Excellent Food

Having walked through China Town and Little Italy decided to grab a bite to eat ....This was an excellent choice .Typical Italian style restaurant .The choice of food was fairly basic but really tasty, prices reasonable and the portion sizes above average overall a great

poker face and i am italian

By AMELIA S |

they lied about the dimension of the pizza, that is really small. these things are not to do, at all, nonono. in addition, it’s not good: tastes like paper. the water also tastes like fanta (berry flavors). the pasta sauce seems very simple and it costs too much, and fettuccini alfredo are not italian, please stop thinking that they are! (this is not your fault buona notte, it’s ok).

Avoid

By Rajesh R |

Shockingly poor service ruined the experience. A manager was bullying the staff all night. We ordered pizzas to share, the waitress advised they were too small to share which was not true, we ended up paying for extra food we didn’t eat. 3 different waiters come to take our order. Over priced poor wine. Asked for a side salad which the waiter said they couldn’t do. Nothing good about this place.

Bad service

This guy was our waiter and w just say while he texted... And texted...and texted.

Cozy gem in Little Italy

By Tommy |

Had a great time with friends with great food and a great waiter. The price was also very attractive without compensating the quality. Be back soon.

Great Little Italy Experience

By Dave_from_Texas |

Was disappointed they were closed this trip. My family and I ate here a while back and really enjoyed the experience. Very nice place but not too fancy. The food and the service were absolutely wonderful. I couldn't tell you what we had, but it was all good for a family of four, with two high school aged boys. The waiter was very pleasant and patient and made quality recommendations. It was a very special last night in New York. Nothing like a quality Little Italy dinner and experience and Buona Notte provides that. I would highly recommend them.

Been visiting for years now

By zann44 |

Buona Notte has become our favorite casual spot in Little Italy. While it is in the heart of the tourist area, the food is both high quality and a very good value. Try the stuffed artichoke appetizer - we have been told, and believe, it is the best in New York. My teenage daughter loves the rigatoni alla vodka, and the chicken dishes (parmigiana, rolatini, with proscuitto, etc) are very well prepared. A vegan friend traveling with us had several satisfying menu options. The portion sizes are just right. The service can be spotty, but our many experiences have proven that if you are willing to engage with the wait staff, they will make your experience delightful.

Lassagna is not just for Garfield the cat.

By TJLease |

Every time I go to Little Italy I love to go to this restaurant for dinner. The clams are a wonderful appetizer and the lassagna is exceptional. My 11 year old loves that "original" dish of spagetti and meatballs and seldom are there leftovers.

Exceptionally bad food :(

By Ulrikbuchert |

We were looking for a place to get some proper Italian food, and were lured in by the friendly lady in front of the restaurant. We ordered a pizza and a caprese salad. The pizza was covered in a inch-thick layer of really bad tasting cheese, and the mozzarella in the caprese was chewy and old. Huge disappointment - do not visit this restaurant!

Italy in Little Italy

By Fenway1959 |

After a long day of walking the downtown area we came upon this gem while heading back to our hotel. We were convinced to give it a try by the usual sidewalk greeter and shown inside. The menu screamed Italian (as you might expect). I ordered the lasagna. After some nice fresh bread for a starter the meal arrived. It was absolutely perfect. The cheeses were blended nicely, the meat tasty on its own, the pasta done exactly as you would want and the marinara smooth and flavorful. You might say I enjoyed it! It was early for a crowd so I'm not sure what the atmosphere would be but based upon the attentiveness of the staff and the wonderful meal we had I'd return anytime.

Much better than we expected

By DeliciousDelilah |

The food was excellent - Red Pepper Soup with Parmigiano and Mozzarella was brilliant, She Who Must Be Obeyed had Eggplant with Pasta (excellent), I had Ravioli with Pasta (again excellent). Service was very attentive, and entertaining, good value for money. We were thoroughly entertained by a panel of Italian-American characters almost straight from Central Casting. These were Dino, the Maitre D, Peppe the Doorman, Guisseppe (great jokes), and a lady I think was called Rosa. On a short visit to NYC we had walked through Chinatown into Little Italy, and were engaged in conversation by Bonna Notte's doorman, who tempted us into his empty restaurant. He placed us in the window as bait for new customers, which unfortunately didn't work, I think they took one look at me and ran! We were expecting a rip-off (suspicious old me), and while the menu wasn't cheap, we negotiated a good discount on a nice 2019 Sauvignon Blanc. We will visit again next time in Little Italy.

Great

Beautiful place . Great service . And food was amazing Thank you guys amazing service best experience in nyc

Very nice and sympathic service. Excellent food

By Christian Côté |

We had the lunch menu, and the only problem is that the lasagna was not 4ft long. What a nice restaurant.

Lackluster "non-italian" Food

By itshallbedone |

I visited this place years ago and loved it, this recent trip made me wish I didn't go back for a visit. I ordered their gnocchi and it was overcooked and tasted like it came out of a Ziploc bag. My husband ordered a Cesar salad and the dressing tasted like mayonnaise. We were highly disappointed when there were so many other fantastic restaurants around us. I would recommend skipping this place.

Authentic

By Missmelissa3939 |

This is a gem in the middle of Little Italy. Authentic Italian food with great service. Food was excellent and the wine was good. I did make reservations and it was crowded.

Good for a late lunch

By Greg P |

My daughter and I stopped in here by chance. We enjoyed the meal. I had the Funghi pizza it was very good. My daughter has egg and nut allergies and they were able to accommodate her needs with spaghetti and chicken.

Great lunch specials!

By Nicole W |

We walked through Little Italy this past Friday and stopped here for lunch. They had some lunch specials for $9.50 - in particular the rigatoni ala vodka caught our eye. My mom and I got the rigatoni and my future mother-in-law got the chicken parmesean. The vodka sauce was delicious! Pasta was cooked perfectly and the chicken was a nice large, thin cutlet - also very tasty. Service was wonderful

Been there a million times and will keep going back

By Marykay512 |

I travel to New York City many times a year for many different reasons and I always try to eat at Bueno Notte when I am there, even if it is out of my way. The food is always excellent and the service is always fantastic. I have taken many friends and relatives there and they continue to return when they visit the city. The quality for the price is fantastic. I am surprised by the poor reviews on here but I firmly believe that some people are never happy with anything. I would suggest this place to anyone and I always do.

Great Food - Quaint

By Theresa989 |

We were strolling through the Little Italy neighborhood when it began to pour! We ducked into this place and decided to eat while we waited for the storm to pass - so glad we did. There was patio seating but, of course, not a choice for us this day. The food was very good and the staff was very nice. Our only note would be that it was a muggy day and there is no air conditioning - the door was wide open. It was a little warm in there.

Our New Top Pick in Little Italy

By sailpending |

Heartbroken after Angelo's on Mulberry burned down. The food here is outstanding and the service matched. I would put this chicken parm up against anybody's. My wide had the marsala and it was delicious. House wine was an Argentinian Cab that was excellent and reasonable. We are very pleased to have stumbled upon Buona Notte.

Overpriced and meh.

By bugs475 |

Highly overpriced. Two glasses of wine, one order of spaghetti and meatballs, one house salad, and linguine with clams cost a whopping $125 before tip. Really? The salad was drowning in balsamic vinegar, and we’ve had better spaghetti and meatballs out of a chef boy ardee can. You can get a whole bottle of red italian wine for what they charged for one glass. Oh and they didn’t give us an itemized bill (our bad) so they probably added a few dollars to the bottom line. Never again Buona Notte! Buh bye.

Very good Italian home cooking

By Capriwanderer |

We popped in here for lunch, no reservation needed. We had very good lasagne, gnocchi and chicken with prosciutto, mushrooms and peas plus a very decent Chianti. Friendly staff and good value at $75 for 3. (If you head left out of the door and along the street 20m to an outdoor cannoli outlet, they really are the best in Little Italy.)

Amazing dinner !!!!

By aphrodite369 |

Absolutely charming! Smaller restaurant when allows for a more romantic setting. Fabulous wine selection. The best chicken Marsala around! Pricing is very very reasonable even for dinner. Staff was very friendly and super helpful. Must stop place to eat!

Cute little restaurant on Mulberry St!

By fixureyes81 |

I just love Little Italy! Mulberry Street is adorable and I just love the way it looks/feels. There are a few Italian restaurants to choose from. The food here was good, the bathroom was clean, and the staff were friendly. It's close to shopping (knock off purses and other bags, etc) and Chinatown. Make sure to grab some gelato when you're finished eating!!

Best Restaurant in Little Italy

By Miller K |

My husband & I are from Alabama. We vacationed last week in Boston and then to NYC. We wanted to compare the lobster ravioli with Boston's. Buona Notte was as good if not better than Boston. The nicest people, very friendly and helpful. Service was great as well as hospitality. Will go back on our next trip to NYC! Karon & Darryl

Nothing fancy but tasty

By 2compadres |

Delicious food. Traditional Italian flavors. Try the Calamari fritti and Pollo alla Sorrentina (the sauce was excellent). Impeccable service. Don't forget to taste the homemade sangria was refreshing and well balanced.

Quant Little Italian Diamond in The Ruff

We were freezing walking down the street hoping to find an authentic Italian restaurant and we hit the jackpot with this place. Great food and excellent service with plenty of ambiance! We loved it!

Horrible Services

By Roseann L |

I went there for a family dinner. We were 15 people. The service was terrible. The waiter was zombie-like. He did not take our drink orders. I had to ask him to come over and serve us. He was not very motivated at all. We had to keep asking for service. I also used the ladies room and one of the stalls was disgusting. I told the zombie-like person and he said that it would be taken care of and it never was. The food was good but considering the size of our party, we did not get the service we deserved.

the food is good but not the best , I went to this restaurant on tripadvisor recommendations and because supposedly the prices were economical and it was the opposite . I'm not impressed

Wonderful spaghetti!

By RailFan1962 |

My teenage son and I really enjoyed the delicious spaghetti special after a long day of sightseeing. The sauce was amazing and the meatballs were just the right size - not too big, not too small. The bread served along with the meal was crusty and a perfect compliment to the spaghetti. I was surprised at how economically we ate a dinner in NYC.

Nice food, limited selection of beer

We convinced several to go in and eat it is so yummy! They came out and thanked me later! Great Homemade food and I LOVE Little Italy! Brings back a lot of family memories for me.

Buona Notte - Yummy

By goliathlulu |

We have been to Buona Notte a number of times on our visits to NYC. We have always been treated like royalty there. I've gone with my friends after the Beauty Show at the Javitts Center and had great food, great atmosphere and great service. No complaints. This is not a huge restaurant - very quaint and it give the staff more time to attend to each of their guests. We have always sat in the window area - which is nice for people and street watching.

Hidden Gem

By Juliann S |

This little hidden gem has been my go to restaurant for over 15 years. It does not matter the time of year or time of day the staff is excellent and the food is great. They go out of there way to accommodate small or large parties. Inside or out you cannot beat the price for the food. I love Ernesto who always remembers me no matter how long between visits. Love and recommend this hidden gem in Little Italy.

Poor service, expensive.

By Armando G |

Poor service, expensive and very slow service. Food normal, nothing extraordinary. Little Italy is becoming very little with lot of chinese shops and restaurants around.

Best food ever

By SezzySez |

Wow!! It was my daughter’s 21st but we had no idea where to go. We wanted Italian and wandered down little Italy and came across this nice looking restaurant. We were not disappointed. The food was so delicious, along with the happy hour cocktails and great friendly service from a lovely lady who talked about different areas of America. Was a pleasure to spend the evening there.

Amazing dinner

By Michellemybell1977 |

Loved everything about this restaurant. The decorations, the Christmas music playing, our table next to the window. Our food was delicious. The bread, the salad, my spaghetti with shrimp and vodka sauce, and my husbands lasagna. Can't say enough good things. Staff was very helpful and looked like they were all helping each other. Only place to eat in Little Italy for sure! Can't wait to go back someday!

Return visit..again and again

By Marc K |

This is our go to restaurant in Little Italy. We stumbled on it years ago and seem to always find our way back for special occasions. The outdoor area in the back is really nice and its small enough so it doesn't have a chain restaurant feel. We think the prices are pretty reasonable for a tourist area. Our favorites are the lobster rav, veal scallopini and gnocchi. Appetizers are a must - calamari and fried buffalo mozzarella. Yes the staff are busy as you would expect, but it's not like they rush you out of restaurant. We usually get a table without a problem if it's early. I also respect the fact that they don't tackle tourists as they pass by like many of the other places. There may be better "dishes" out there on Mulberry, but I know Buono Notte is good Italian food every time I go.

Great vibes!

By emanuele c |

Buona Notte restaurant in Little Italy NY

By hanginwithhowie |

Terrific Italian restaurant in Little Italy just off Canal Street on Mulberry. Food is always very good no matter what selection you choose. The Calamari appetizer is always a winner. Any time we are in the area it is the restaurant of choice and never disappoints. A simple pasta dish such as penne pomodoro is a perfect Italian meal!

Got kicked out because of Allergy!

By Mariana |

Omg ! I have never, like never experienced this kind of service. I’m writing this review while still being shocked. We came inside because for lunch and Happy Hour. Bartender came to us, we have asked about Happy Hour. We got answer, however one of us is ALLERGIC to alcohol and would never think about drinking Alcohol in his life! We wanted to order, food, wine for us who are drinking and when our friend ordered Coca Cola we are asked to leave the place because apparently we are not allowed to order Happy Hour drinks if not everyone are drinking. WHAT THE ACTUAL FU**?!

Would love to come back

Warm and delicious

By Rick2605 |

It is almost the beginning of the Little Italy walking down Mulberry St. You won't regret stopping by this small but delicious piece of Rome. Pasta and pizza with a very good Montepulciano will put you in Via Venetto...

Overpriced but pleasant staff. Lunch special portions the size of appetizers

By Freestyle1492 |

Stopped in for an after noon lunch. I had the lunch special spaghetti bolognese for $14.95. Well it wasn't bad but the portion would be the size of an appetizer. My wife ordered mozzarella sticks and we were charged $13, they were dry. The waiter made a nice Long Island Ice Tea and came back with left over rather then chuck it, I palmed him a couple of bucks for that. My wife ordered a vodka soda the same as the LI Tea $14. It was a hot day and the air conditioner was working fine!

We Keep Coming Back!

By josephga1 |

While we do stray from this place we call home, we always come back. There are many great Italian restaurants surrounding Bouna Notte but there is a special something that keeps us coming back. The staff are very friendly and attentive. The eggplant parmigiana, broccoli rabe, and garlic bread are out of this world. We've never tasted it any better elsewhere. It's one of those meals where we're hesitant to try it elsewhere because we don't want to be disappointed. The sangria is also a must! I've even had all my work colleagues to this place.

Best Italian Food!!!!

What a GREAT place! We've had many parties in their 'Back Room' area. We've always had the freshest , tastiest Italian food there and the service was top notch!!!!

A wonderful discovery

By aynara4 |

Walking through Little Italy we got hungry and wanted to snack. We came in very early in the morning (around 12:00) and they treated us wonderfully. They offered us the $14 menu which consists of a starter, a main course, bread and a drink. The place is charming, the service wonderful and the food was delicious. We were so delighted that we recommended it to some friends who went the following week.

Not worth it

By Dee |

I am totally unimpressed with this place. The mozzarella en carozza (sp) was like a sandwich (a thin one) and there wasn't much to it. The chicken parm special is more of a joke. It was hammered so thin we were wondering where the chicken was. Is that because it was the special and it was cheap? I don't know. I wrapped up my meal and asked if they could throw the bread in there , and throw they did. Put it in the bag loose. I've never been to a restaurant where they did that. The bread is not warm either. We usually go to one particular place and thought we would try something new. Hint: If there's people overflowing everywhere else and there's empty tables somewhere else, there's a reason for it. I don't know how they got the ratings they did.

Fine little Italian Restaurant in New York!

By Shapley_Hunter |

Great food, friendly people, complimentary glass of wine. What more needs to be said! But, I have to say more (50 characters, at least), and so I will say that the food was really grand. We dined al fresco, owing to the excellent weather of the weekend, and the experience was very good. Be careful of the table you choose, though, as the sidewalk is uneven and your table may have a noticeable tilt to it.

Delicious!

The service was quick and the food was delicious. We were on a tight schedule and were seated quickly. I ordered gnocchi Alfredo and it was prepared just right.

Be Cautious

Be advised, at the time of payment an 18% gratuity is already added to the bill no matter the size of your party. They do not allude to this and even provide a suggested tip amount to add to your bill. The receipt to sign even says Gratuity:______, when it should say ADDITIONAL gratuity to draw attention to this. I originally left an (additional) 20% tip which gave the server a 38% tip. She was polite but not amazing. The food was mediocre. We commented at one point that we would have rather been at carabas. In Little Italy this isn’t a statement you should ever say.

Fab meal

We had actually set out to go to Chinatown but it was dead! We strolled over to Little Italy, we were very late and just wanted to find somewhere to eat. As we were looking to go into another restaurant, a guy from this restaurant persuaded us to go in there - and we were so pleased. Sat out the back in their garden area, great service and lovely meal. He offered us free drinks if we returned but unfortunately it was our last night in New York

The food & service was spectacular!!!!

I was in 'Little Italy" in New York last week & just wanted to let you know I loved it. The food was really good & the service was the best. The prices were very reasonable. I would definately recommend anyone to try it. 120 Mulberry ST. Little Italy, NYC 10013

authentic Italian food, wine and service :)

We've been for dinner, looking for some traditional Italien food. We're from Europe and travelled Italy many times and thus are are familiar with tagliatelle or similar :) ... and Buona Notte was for sure worth eating there! Tagliatelle al dente as they have to be. Tasty salad. A nice little Italian wine card. Very friendly service. What more do you need :) ... Right in the middle of Little Italy

Don’t bother with here

We have eaten at this restaurant many times in the past few years. They were closed in 2017 for renovations. So we were happy to find out they were open again. We (party of 4)made reservations for 7:15pm. Hostess and restaurant very disorganized. Had to wait a while to be seated and heard staff fighting & yelling in kitchen and then a man stormed out. We were finally seated at a table with no silverware, napkins etc. hostess came around after 5 min and tossed napkins & silverware on table for us to set! Then brought water but no menus. 2 couples that came in after us were seated right away and given menus, bread & drinks while we were still waiting for everything. After waiting an additional 15 minutes with no menus, bread or waiter, we got up and left. Hostess saw us putting our coats on and didn’t say anything. So we walked down the street and had a delicious meal at Cafe Napoli Don’t know if they are under new ownership but we will never eat here again

Another finding in Little Italy

Italian food at its best. Delicious homemade tomato sauce, pasta cooked al dente, calamari, mussels and shrimps very well prepared and very tasteful. Sicilian wine, crusty italian bread dipped in virgin olive oil were good companions. For dessert, gelatto and a very good italian grappa made our day. An italian waiter, always courteous, provided excellent service.
