I have eaten here a number of times and have never been disappointed. The food is good, but a bit expensive for the type of fare? The burger is great, as is the vegetable salad and they once had a pasta primavera which was absolutely delicious. It's convenient to all midtown shopping and sights. The only drawback is it's location? Right behind the Ladies Show department ( I guess that's a matter of opinion) and getting through at times is like running some sort of gauntlet.

My wife and I decided to take a break from shopping today. I ordered steak frites and ordered the steak medium well. It came out bloody and I sent it back. The waitress was very apologetic. Then they obviously started an entirely new steak - which took forever - and it was more bloody than the second one. At the point my wife had already finished her turkey sandwich. I asked them just to make me a burger - medium well - and they burned the meat and the bun. The manager was very gracious and paid for the meal. But paying for the meal really doesn't compensate for a ruined luncheon. I would not eat here. The manager and waitress were very nice, but the chef simply can't cook.

A cafe at Saks Fifth Avenue NYC. They serve fancy foods and drinks but everything's very nice. I personally love their Nutty Dark Chocolate Mousse. Just the perfect balance of flavours and textures. Love love love everything they served and would definitely go there again in a heartbeat.

Whenever I go to New York I make sure to save sometime in a shopping day to have a late lunch at SFA. Even though it is located inside the shoe department of Saks, it feels great sitting down at this cafe. The ambiance is calm and is almost an oasis in the bubbling NYC. If you sit in the terrace, the best part of the restaurant you can have a partial view of St. Patricks Cathedral. To begin with they have a basket of warm rolls which are great. Although they don't have many dishes to choose from are most of the time delicious and flavorful made with very fresh and good ingredients. I also always order a glass of wine to go with it and it feels perfect. The only con is that the waiters are sometimes very busy and don't give full attention.

Lovely staff and ambiance but it took quite awhile to be served. Make a reservation and ask to be seated by window if that is what you like. Very helpful to those with allergies.

We stumbled on this cafe on the 8th floor of Saks The chicken mandarin salad was the best salad we had in a week in New York. So good that we returned the following day for another helping Service can be a bit hit and miss when the store is busy

Environment is really relaxing and greeted with high quality of service. What I would recommend is the Lobster Salad and the Halibut. I would definitely go back again for the Lobster Salad.

It is always a great experience to have lunch at the 8th floor of the Saks building overlooking the 5th avenue. The menu is limited but enough to offer you a great options to satisfy all your needs, and the service is always great. We have visited the Café many times, and it became almost a tradition to visit it every time that we are in New York City.

Rude, pompous, overstaffed (yet oddly slow) cafe nestled in corner of beauty department. Staff is unhelpful & arrogant. Wouldn’t correct order. Overpriced water. Food looked ok though but wouldn’t eat there.

Good stop if you don't want to drop while you shop at Saks. Good for a quick salad or sandwich--quite convenient.

Cafe SFA has improved since our last visit. The meal and service was solid and we appreciated our seating on the terrace.

Such good service From start to finish she was very pleasant and make sure we were well looked after. The food was very good especially the bread to start it was amazing!

We grabbed lunch at the cafe at Saks during a busy day just south of Central Park. We were lucky enough to be seated at a window table, and ate our lunch watching snow gently fall St. Patrick's. Every bit of our meal was delicious, and the service was friendly, genuine, and prompt. Although there are pricier items on the menu, there are also less expensive (for Manhattan) choices that are just as delicious and filling.

The food is not worth the price at all. We went there with our kids, and just two breakfast dishes with a couple of juices came out to $30! The atmosphere is nice, as is the view of Rockefeller center, and our server was very nice and welcoming. The food wasn't good. We ordered a fruit and cheese plate. The grapes were rotten, and there were a few pieces of blue cheese. No other kinds, just blue. We also ordered a dish of pastries, which came out to be a blueberry scone with a maximum of two blueberries in it, one mini chocolate pastry, and one small croissant (very small). Nothing special at all about these pastries. You can find a better and larger croissant at a local grocery store for a cheaper price. My kids were still hungry and we kept on asking for more bread. Overall, if you're hungry after a day of shopping at Saks, try somewhere out in the city, because the food was bad and way too expensive.

Lovely lunch and view sitting at window table. If you get there early, easier to get one. Service was excellent and provided recommendations and suggestions. Enjoyed fresh chicken on salad and basket of bread selection . Very good. Only obstacle is that you have to walk through shoe department to enter and exit which can be a deterrent!

Excellent service, generous portions, nice location. Cheeseburger, shrimp sandwich and New York steak were great.

Never mind when my wife says lets go shopping at Saks as I know at some point we will stop on the eighth floor for lunch at SFA or just munchies. Either one is always good and the service is above par. My wife had the mandarin chicken salad and I had croque Madame. Wow! Never had a better sandwich ever anywhere. Perfection! Yes, perfection. Even I was surprised by it. I would say service was a touch slow and the waiter cleared my plate before my wife was done. But the food was so good it was easy to pass over the small nuances. If you are shopping Fifth Ave don't forget Saks. A bit pricey but outstanding

We ate a late light lunch here in the middle of a shopping day. Great salads and sandwiches and the location can't be beat if your wife is in the Saks shoe department.

Shopping makes us hungry, thirsty and tired, especially in high-end stores like Saks Fifth Avenue, but fortunately Saks has provided an inexpensive and attractive restaurant to re-charge our batteries without depleting our bank account. “Café SFA” is Saks’s elegant eighth-floor restaurant overlooking Rockefeller Center. It’s not “Top of the Rock,” but food is good and inexpensive, and the cocktails are great. My wife and I had salad appetizers, fish main courses (Crispy Skinned Salmon Greek Salad for $26), drinks and dessert for under $70, and the service was excellent. There is a fun view of Rock Center and some of its roof gardens, if one sits on the indoor balcony, and the atmosphere is light, but lunch-eating New Yorkers know about this café, and if you want good seats, you better get there before noon or after two pm. Here is part of their soft drink menu, which is great:Tea and Lemonade, Pomegranate Green Iced Tea, Orange Infused Black Iced Tea, Cranberry Lemonade each for $6, and similarly priced homemade sodas: Coconut Vanilla, Orange Thyme, Pomegranate, Grapefruit Elderflower, and Ginger Pear. Alcoholic cocktails are $14.00, including Botanical Bliss (botanist gin, cucumber, mint, prosecco, Spring Spritz (grey goose, st. germain, cranberry, lemon) and Kiss of a Dragon (Makers Mark bourbon, dragon fruit, pineapple, Cointreau). They also have We enjoyed the “Dragon” and The “SFA Sazerac” (cherry- infused Bulleit rye, lemon, Dolin rouge). For dessert, we had “Winter's Kiss”--flourless chocolate torte, Peppermint kisses, mint chocolate chip ice cream. There are many other tempting desserts, and I cannot think of a more enjoyable way to break up the ordeals of shopping.

We recently were in NY the week before Christmas. I called ahead for reservations, but they only take them for groups of 6 or more. We were a group of 4. However the polite girl on the phone said there is usually no wait, or a short one, after 1:30. So we arrived at 2:00 with no wait. We were seated at a window overlooking the Rockefeller Christmas tree! All servers were very attentive. Our order came quickly. The cheeseburger, chicken sandwich with soup & salad, and the grilled gruyere with tomato sandwich were all wonderful! And I must mention the basket of rolls and bread we enjoyed while waiting for our meal! Just the right variety of baked goods, especially the pretzel croissant. We asks for a second basket! Overall this was an enjoyable lunch! Total cost each, including non-alcoholic drinks was about $30. Exactly what you would expect for a special lunch in NY, but this included the view and the amazing merchandise and decorations in Saks!

I friend and I decided to meet for lunch at the Café at Saks Fifth Avenue after an absence of about a dozen years because both of us had moved away from our then home turf of New York. Even after such a long time nothing seemed to have changed, and we sat at the same table as years ago looking down on Fifth Avenue. The menu offered some unfamiliar choices and so we ordered the Charred Romanesco (crunchy, with a nutty taste, full of vitamins) Cauliflower with manchego cheese and marcona almonds that was presented to us amply bathed in a sauce piquant. It looked and tasted delicious.Together with a glass of Chardonnay this turned out to be a perfectly satisfactory lunch and left enough energy to meander through the shoe department on the same 8th and the cosmetics and jewelry displays on the ground floors. We promised each other not to wait another decade before returning for some serious New York shopping and lunch at the Café.

We were just looking around in Saks and bumped into the cafe. It was lunch time and we decided to have something quick. We immediately liked the ambiance, the service was extremely friendly. I ended up having a 5-cheese torteloni and a glass of wine. Both were excellent. Lunch was served with a bread basket - each bread better than the other. All this was finished with cheesecake and espresso. We were very pleased with the place, the service and the food. It does not come cheap, though. About the price of dinner for two in a good restaurant - 50 bucks per head, incl. the wine.

This is an OK venue located inside Saks Fifth Avenue. This is the full-service restaurant up on the 8th floor. It's very busy (like most other restaurants inside department stores in New York) so reservations are a big help (but not required if you don't mind waiting; but who does when one's hungry, right?). The food for the most part is good but nothing really outstanding (at least it's not poor or mediocre, though) Correction: the Pumpkin Crepe Cake was out of this world. Service is spotty...waiters are running around like crazy during peak hours so they tend to get lost in the madness. They start out being über-attentive but then tend to forget about you when you really need them (like to order drink refills or ask for the check). It's a nice place to take a break from the shopping in Saks and lunch is above average but nothing outstanding, though.

Ruben, the Maitre D', refused to seat me at a window table in the slow part of an afternoon, because I was a party of one. He directed me to eat at the bar, which, at $23 for a salad, I preferred a table. I asked him how long for a window table, he said 10 - 15 minutes. I waited and watched as he sat three parties of 2 at window tables...he did not look at me once. Finally, after 30 minutes, someone else came up to seat people and I asked him for assistance -- he was appalled to hear Ruben would not seat me, and as he readied to handle the situation, Ruben appears and mumbles my table is ready. I have been a patron of this restaurant for the last 30 years, eating solo and with business associates, family, and friends, and never encountered such rude condescension. Seems when the restaurant was remodeled some years ago, so was the attitude. Difficult to rate the food without bias after such horrible service. Not a place I will be rushing back to anytime soon.

we came to the Cafe S.F.A. for coffee and Sandwich and its Excellent food the Staff were fantastic they loved our accent and gave us some more ideas where to visit and we thanked them and for the service and gave them a tip. It was worth the visit

this place is good . the decor , ambiance and the staff too. Antony took care of us but the thing that i did not like was the serve size of the dishes, its presented well but it fell short of filling our bellies.

Went here the first time in January and was so impressed with the absence, the food and the service I'd been waiting to return! While they have a full, lovely menu, the fixed price 21.00 lunch is perfect! In this part of town, finding a nice lunch spot can be challenging if you need to stay near Rock Center. Well, here's the place! Check it out!

Stopped here for a late lunch. The atmosphere is relaxed and pleasant with a great view if you receive a window table. The service was efficient and friendly. I had a delicious sandwich. Worth a visit!

My partner, daughter & her husband had a late lunch here on our 3 night stay in New York. The food & service was excellent & the price was very reasonable for the quality. We chose to share a bottle of Prosecco with lunch as it wasn't too expensive. We sat by a window with a view along 5th Avenue. A thoroughly enjoyable experience.

We were shopping in the Saks shoe department during Fashion Week and decided to have an impromptu late lunch with some friends. It was after 2 so it was past the rush (less than half full) but the service was terrible during this visit; it was often difficult to find and then catch the eye of the server. And everything that I had previously loved about the cafe, including the wonderful pretzel rolls, seemed absent and replaced with poor substitutes. The food was "meh" and one of my friends actually had to send back a crab cake because it tasted 'off' and order something else. Since we had eaten rather lightly, I decided to see what was potentially for dessert and the listings were so ordinary I wasn't even tempted. Cafe S.F.A. was definitely off its game and I left feeling disappointed.

My husband and I had lunch here on our first day in NYC and it was a wonderful place to start our adventure. We were seated by a window with a view of St. Patrick's Cathedral, and couldn't stop staring out the window. I started with the butternut squash soup and he started with the crab and corn chowder. Both very good. I had the portabella and roasted red pepper sandwich and he then had the tuna sandwich. Great service. Definitely on the pricey side for lunch.

Went for lunch and the food was ok but the service took away rom that completely. They were rude, unhappy and looked like they hated their jobs. Wont be returning.

A really nice lunch spot behind the huge shoe floor of SAKS. Delicious crab cake and lobster salad for me The bread basket is a nice mix including fruit and walnut bread and a pretzel croissant. Speedy service too for those on a short lunch break.

We always have lunch at this restaurant during our annual trip to New York City. The atmosphere is pleasant and we enjoy the food and service. The tables on the upper level have nice views of Fifth Avenue. I had the smoked turkey salad and then the layer cake for dessert.

This restaurant is on the top floor of Saks Fifth Avenue. It has a fresh menu with great selections (plenty of guy food, not just salads) I had a great burger and the service was fast and friendly. The best part was the view. You can see all the way down Fifth Avenue. And the total cost for lunch was less than $50. A great break from watching your wife try on shoes

I first ate here with my family on my first visit ever to New York City. It's one of my favorite spots in the city. You can see the most popular spots in the city from this restaurant. The food is great here, too. I've had a couple of the sandwiches and the salads. They were all very good. My dad was a big fan of the burger. To me, it feels like a hidden gem in the heart of the city!

We were in NYC to see a Broadway matinee and had limited time to shop and do lunch. My friends and I opted for Cafe S.F.A. and I must say it was an excellent choice. We easily found great selections (my friends had the glazed salmon and I had the lobster frittata) which were quickly served. But for me, the star of the show was their bread, notably their pretzel roll; words can not adequately describe how yummy mine was and I really, really wish I had the recipe as I do bake. I will definitely go back as this was an excellent, relaxing choice.

Shopping makes you very hungry so finding this on the top floor of Saks after spending money was heaven. Salad and pink champagne yes please. Staff friendly and great views what more could you ask for whilst shopping. 🥂

The decor badly needs a refurb and while they're at it, replace the single pane windows with something that can keep out the cold - I kept my Canada Goose on the whole time. Its a shame really because the food is actually quite good. The crab and corn bisque was delightful while the turkey panini was similarly enjoyable.

This is on the 8th floor of Saks and has great views of 5th Ave if you could get anywhere near a window (very unlikely)! Went 11 dec and it was packed! Small tables close together don't help the small army of wait staff trying to work...Getting waited on took time of course . When we asked about napkins, the waiter said they were out but after awhile he found two somewhere My lamb burger was quite good but my wife's turkey and avacodo had no avacodo. When the manager came by and asked if everything was fine we said "where's the avacodo" -- he just shrugged and left Also, the prosecco was room temperature! For a $70 lunch-- they should do better. We have been here before and it was quite good-- so it seems they just couldn't handle the crowd

I don’t usually mix shopping and eating, at least not in the actual department store itself, but Café SFA at Saks Fifth Avenue is such a delightful treat it feels like a separate restaurant unto itself. In fine culinary fashion, the offerings are elegant, and some are downright decadent. Opting for the Avocado Toast with House Ricotta Cheese, I eagerly eyed the grand duck egg that sat prominently on top of the whole affair, and once I sliced into it the yummy yolk doused the entire thing in rich golden goodness. The bite of marinated tomatoes was an excellent counterpoint. A perfect way of getting some fashionable fuel in support of continued shopping adventures, the Café is not merely serviceable to the task at hand, it’s a welcome retreat in its own right. To accompany the fanciful proceedings, I chose the very pretty Aviation; with its vibrant purple tint, this classic cocktail makes a stunning accent on any table – the epitome of stylish dining as befits its location. Service was stellar and swift, and soon enough we were fortified to continue with the credit card abuse on the other floors.

Met some friends who were shopping at Sack's, so this was conveniently located on the 8th floor of the sacks building! The menu is somehow limited but serves all tastes! I would say it's American food with a twist! Good quality, ok portions

My girls and I stopped in for Shopping respite. We ordered a burger, fries, calamari and champagne. We shared the food and it was the perfect amount of food and rest that we needed to tackle the shoe sale rack. Wink!

We hit here often while shopping in Saks. It is not cheap, but the service is great and the food is always tasty. A nice place to take a break when in NYC, as long as you can not buy any expensive shoes!

This is an excellent restaurant, the food is first class in quality and standard, the service is good, though sometimes hard to catch a server’s eye when busy. If you try to flag them down then they become a bit annoyed, not sure why? The only feedback I would say is with the tipping, it’s too aggressive. Be grateful for employment, be grateful for any form of tip, though don’t challenge the patrons when ‘as a server’ you feel you have not been tipped enough. I would advise the management to look at some targeted education on this as it happened the four times we went to the restaurant on our last visit to Saks New York. My advice of 20 plus years in Human Resources, focus on the customer 100% and the rest will come! Saying this the server tip pressure will absolutely not spoil your dining experience, just something to be aware of.

Stopped in for a quick cocktail. Bar staff was in a tiff because it was almost closing time. They got ruder as we ordered. The space looks old and tired. I won't go back and probably won't finish shopping here.

Restaurant in Saks Fifth Ave. There is some great window seating in the upper tier of the restaurant, ask if you can have a window seat. If not walk thru the upper tier and enjoy the view just before your lunch. Be prepared to wait sometimes 10 to 15 minutes. It is worth the wait. Great Salads, Cobb is my favorite. Great Chicken Pot Pie and about the best bread basket of any restaurant I have been to. WONDERFUL SOUPS TOO. As a matter of fact I have never had a bad meal here. The service is spotty at times. Old time New York Servers rough around the edges, but livable.

Had lunch today at this cafe in the 8th floor of Saks. Very busy but service was very efficient. Great salads! Worth a visit for a nice lunch.

Located on the 8th floor just behind the designer shoes, this restaurant with great views of 5th Avenue offers a wide selection of soup, sandwiches, entrees, and brunch foods. Service is fast and friendly. We had the quick bite (small soup and half sandwich). The half was huge and more than enough. A great place to stop for a bite when shopping at Saks or in the vicinity.

The restaurant is in Saks on the 8th floor. Their are views of St. Patrick's Cathedral (not unobstructed) and Fifth Ave. Lunch was good. I had crab and corn chowder which was lukewarm but my friends had a lentil soup which they raved about. I also had a half sandwich of chicken salad on raisin bread. Unfortunately the menu did not specify raisin bread (which I hate.) I just ate the chicken salad because I am not someone that sends her meal back. The service was exceptional. Prices were typical NYC. It's worth trying if you are near Rockefeller Center.

Wonderful view of Rockefeller Center, fountain light show, and Jeff Koons ballerina. Delightful summer evening with a bit of a breeze on the terrace. The service was excellent as was the food. I recommend the risotto.

Whenever I visit New York and go shopping at Saks or around it in Fifth Ave I like to stop for lunch at this cafe located on the 8th floor of the store and have been doing it for some years now. Although the food is very well prepared and presented and the waiters are very professional the decor looks tired and old and does need some urgente remodeling. This time I had the fixes priced lunch menu and it was a good deal. They also have some combination of soup and sandwich and salad and sandwich which is also very nice and with a fair price.

I made my reservation at least two weeks in advance. My husband and I were traveling to New York for the Tree Lighting Ceremony so we wanted a restaurant close to the event. On the day of our reservation we proceeded to the SFA Café and were rudely greeted and advised that our reservation was cancelled, as they had a private event. The fellow told me that everyone was called. Unfortunately they had my work number and because I was in NYC, and not at home, I was not notified. They cancelled the reservation the day of our restaurant visit! The day of! How does a restaurant get away with doing this to patrons? I felt that this review was necessary to alert future patrons of how this restaurant really values your business.

I've had lunch here several times as I travel to New York annually. Year on year it is consistently very good. The views if you get a window seat are just fantastic.

I just love Café SFA. From the welcoming maître d' who always asks, “How are you?” to the beautiful view of Rockefeller Center rooftops and Fifth Avenue, to the unflagging excellence of Jaclyn, my favorite server, it’s the best for lunch in midtown. http://cafesfa.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/07/Cafe-sfa_Lunch.pdf The special includes a half sandwich (tuna or chicken salad) and a cup of their famous corn and crab chowder or the daily vegetarian offering ($21). The bread with raisins is a standout. Fava bean falafel is a carnival of color, crunchy and smooth, heavy dark lentil flavor lightened by lemon preserve and cucumber yogurt. With quinoa and marinated garbanzos, it’s so interesting you want to savor every morsel ($22). The lobster roll ($25) is generously sized and is accompanied by fries. A friend has it every time. Sirloin steak frites with choron (hollandaise and tomato puree) sauce on the side, fries with truffle oil and parmesan ($38) were a hit with a friend who was missing steak, and finally – the best salmon I’ve had all summer: Grilled salmon “Greek Salad” ($26) cooked well, with al dente veggies, and just a few crumbles of feta to sweeten the taste. Scrumptious. Can’t wait to go back (and wish I could eat here every day)!

Classy brunch place on the 8th Floor of Saks. Their brunch special is affordable, you get a nice view of St. Patrick's. The best pottaoes I've tasted, and their crepe cake is divine.

The staff and drinks are great, but I expected SAKS to make more effort into the appearance of their world famous destination. Having eaten at Harrods and Harvey Nichols in London (which is the equivalent to SAKS in NY), SAKS looks like a dive in comparison. The windows are filthy, and/or broken, the paintwork is chipped and the sealant around the windows is messy. I expected SAKS to be even better, but it was very shabby considering it is world famous. The view can't be faulted, however.

I had a quick lunch at Cafe SFA by myself. The service was a bit slow, and the floor quite dirty. That said, the beet salad was excellent, and the oysters not bad. One oyster didn't smell good, and the waiter replaced it without any further questions asked.

My daughter and I decided to take a break and have lunch at Cafe SFA located on the upper floor of Saks Fith Avenue. We were seated right away and we were offered a glass of Prosecco which hit the spot. The dining room was beautifully furnished in a French style which made one feel you were in Paris instead of New York. The server recommended the chowder followed by a delicious salad. Both were excellent. We finished with the best coffee I've tasted in a long while. Next time I'm in New York I will go back to SFA. Enjoy! PanAm1961

After you work you way up to the 8th floor and on the 5th Avenue side of the store there behind the shimmering silver curtain is the cafe. I had stumbled upon a review of this place as a "hidden gem". The hidden part is correct, I am not so sure about the gem. I had hoped for a spectacular view overlooking Fifth Avenue and while the view was grand, it was somewhat obstructed. There are a limited number of tables with any kind of an exterior view to begin with, and of those only two or three tables in the corner can see much more than the tops of the other buildings. We were seated with a direct view of the promenade of Rockefeller Center which was very nice but not so nice at the same time. We ate from the Breakfast menu, eggs fried or eggs scrambled. The food was good, and it was plentiful, but I think most people would go here for the convenience if you were shopping in the store or you just wanted to think you had stumbled upon a hidden gem.

Enjoyed a very nice lunch break at the cafe in between shopping at Saks. Had a delicious lobster roll with salad, nearly came back just for that another day! Nice cocktails also without alcohol. Pluss to have a kids menu to choose from, the pasta was popular with our little one. Friendly and quick service.

Luckily we had walked the high line . In the morning and was hungry and walked into Saks on fifth avenue and went up to the 8th floor Cafe. I have to admit this was one of the best burgers I have ever had. The staff and service was amazing a few glasses of champagne and coffee but the food was the star and what a great relaxed place to eat away from the mayhem of fifth avenue. If your looking for somewhere to eat near there pop in but keep your credit card locked away the shop is tempting

What a way to refuel on your shopping spree!. service was good but the star was the burger - done perfectly 9medium0 with the roasted peppers and served in a toasted brioche - perfect!. The chicken though was a bit bland for our indian palette !.

Cafe SFA is one of my favorite places for lunch in New York. Whether you are taking a break from shopping in Saks or meeting friends, the space is bright and inviting, with views of St. Patrick's Cathedral and Rockefeller Center. This time, I had the avocado and house ricotta cheese toast, topped with a fried Alderfer Farm duck egg, and served with a salad of marinated cherry tomatoes. Everything was delicious! The service was friendly and attentive. Excellent.

Go early in the day and ask for a terrace table. We loved sitting at table 89 in the corner. My husband found himself gazing at the spires of St. Patrick's Cathedral while I was looking at Rockefeller Center. For a giddy, fleeting moment you almost feel as if you own New York. The views are intoxicating. Be sure to accept the freebie bread basket, which carries a delicious assortment of artisan breads and seeded crackers. And by all means order the $26 Greek Salmon Salad with tiny zucchini, capers, and other green delights -- OR the delicious $22 Fava Bean Falafel with beluga lentils and chickpeas if you want to go vegetarian. These are both excellent choices, far beyond the scope of your average department store victuals. We wandered in from the eighth floor show store around midday on a Friday and were immediately pampered by one of the warmest waitresses I've ever met, Jaclyn. This was a fun and fabulous lunch that I would do again in a New York minute.

I've been to Cafe SFA in the past, but enjoyed coming with my daughter. The salads are really lovely and make a terrific lunch. We had the lobster salad and the mandarin chicken salad. Both were excellent. The service was also extremely good - prompt and professional. The best thing though can be the people watching - between ladies who lunch and tourists, it's a fantastic array. They are very. Ice about children of all ages, but I would find it expensive if I was there with young children I think. The restaurant itself is also very pretty particularly if you get a balcony seat.

A nice place atop Saks Fifth Avenue to sit down for some bubbles or a small snack. Nothing too fancy in any way, but a nice bar and an efficient room with a nice terrace (my favorite although narrow).

There are still some folks who think of a department store restaurant as a throw back to a bygone era with out of date, or predictable food offerings. The flagship Saks 5th Avenue offers this full service restaurant with an up to date vibe, and food. The cafe is located on the 8th floor, and a section of tables overlooks 5th Avenue, and Rock Center. At a recent lunch a starter of butternut squash soup was beyond good, and it was made with a tomato base giving it a depth of flavor that was not expected. A Lobster Roll was better than many you get at a seafood restaurant, and had lobster to spare. A basic cheeseburger was about the best that I have had this year, and you can have a side salad (as opposed to fries), and the side salad was an ample portion. We arrived early (11:40), and the only issue encountered was service started off slow, as the restaurant started to fill up the service then snapped to, and was fine from that point on. If you are looking for a more casual dining spot, they have a spot on the 5th floor, titled SNAKS, that despite it's name, offers a full menu. Ken

The Cafe SFA at Saks 5th Avenue had decent food at lunch time. Staff very friendly and professional. The wait was about 25 minutes mid-day. I would recommend the lunch special with soup, salad and 1/2 sandwich. The flavored spiced, apple unsweetened ice tea was excellent. Take a break from shopping and try the restaurant. It was a nice break with good food.

We were shopping and looking at the Christmas windows on 5th Avenue and needed lunch. We did not have to wait and sat at a table overlooking St. Patrick's Cathedral. We had the lunch combination of soup, half sandwich, and small salad. All three were delicious and seasonal. The waitress was efficient and pleasant. We enjoyed it so much, that we returned on Sunday before walking to the theater. Again, no wait, pleasant window view, efficient service, and excellent brunch.

This was Christmas week, when everyone is busy. We were hungry and were told by store staff about this restaurant. Actually, two different staffers gave us info on different floor locations, as if no one really knew where things were located. When we arrived, the young woman standing near the sign, who said she was there just for the day, seemed confused about hours and seating. Went up to the desk, where a young man also seemed confused, and said it was his first day. So......does that mean no one is given any sort of training or info at all before being placed at the restaurant? Some diners who said they had reservations were waiting far too long, according to them, when half the tables were empty. Not sure what was happening there, but we were seated within about ten minutes without a reservation. This was about 3:30 PM or so, and not at all that busy. Waiter very helpful with menu suggestions and answering questions. Partner ordered the burger and fries with which he was extremely pleased. My order was the soup (corn chowder) and half sandwich (chicken salad), both of which were very good. The description on my choice said an endive salad was included, but since I don't much care for endive asked if romaine could be substituted. He said this: the chef expects diners to eat what is on the menu and does not allow substitutions. Really? Romaine for endive is that huge? So OK, he did manage to add a few leaves of romaine with the endive, which was greatly appreciated. However, my thinking is that there are so many people requesting substitutions that this is the easiest was around that. We would choose dining here again if we're in the store and hungry.

We were in Manhattan for our annual trip to see the RC tree and Saks window. It was pouring, so we stopped into Saks (truth be told, my wife was looking for a pair of gloves). She asked me if I wanted to have lunch at Saks...I didn't know that they HAD a restaurant...and I agreed. The food was great, the service fantastic. A bit pricey, but not unexpectedly so.

Look, it's Saks - it's going to be expensive. But, the food is fresh, service is great, and if you can, make a reservation so you can sit overlooking Rockefeller Center. It really is worth it, the food is that good.

We had lunch there on Sunday January 24th after the blizzard of 2016. Sat by the window but unfortunately all the snow blocked the view of Rockefeller center. Our waiter was very nice, think he was one of the only ones to make it in during the snowstorm. My daughter asked for hot chocolate and he said no we don't have it. Five minutes later he arrived back at our table with it homemade just for her! Food very good and service great. Will definitely go again when the view is better.

When I’m in NYC for a visit, I try to have lunch at the café before shopping. The café is on the same floor as women’s shoes. So, if you don’t want to get distracted, it’s best to walk quickly and look straight ahead on your way to the café. The service is what you would expect from Saks. During one visit, I stopped by straight from the airport—roll bag in tow. The host insisted on carrying it to the table because guests don’t carry luggage. This visit I arrived early so got a seat with a view of Rockefeller Center. To eat I had the turkey and avocado sandwich (in the winter I like to pot pie). Each aspect was flavorful—from the buttery toast, crispy bacon to creamy avocado. Afterwards, I had enough energy to shop to coupon event. Worth the trip.

Well, a real treat ... Dinner at Saks ! Fabulous lobster rolls and salad, not forgetting the chips ! Sadly, service was terribly slow.... Couldn't catch the eye of anyone to take our order, and it took nearly an hour for the food to arrive when we did eventUally order ...They were busy, but not rushed off their feet. However, overall lovely !
You Can Not Eat the View!
We were given a gift certificate to have lunch at Cafe SFA and looked forward to a pre-matinee experience. Shades of my high school cafeteria! The noise of diners trying to be heard was deafening. While our waiter was extraordinary, the food was not. The simple lunch was just that "simple" and without much taste,.We tried the flourless chocalate cake to spruce up the meal. Not much help. While many diners love the view it is not edible!
