Loud and expensive

By sabdav1 |

We chose this restaurant out of the other restaurants because there were a lot of people eating here at the moment we arrived. It's an open kitchen, which is good because you can see what they do and they have no secrets. But... the waiters and chefs were really really loud, shouting at eachother and it was a very chaotic place... If you want a quiet, calm or romantic place to dine, this is not the place. I had a really rushed feeling and I could barely enjoy the meal... The waiters were friendly towards us, so that's a good thing. The food was OK, but basic. They also count an extra 18% gratuity, this is obliged. We had a very high bill, due to the gratuity and the overpriced food (over 100$ for two persons).

Wonderful!

By AshM25 |

Our family of four had a great experience! We enjoyed gnocchi with pesto, osso buco, veal scaloppine, and roasted salmon. Portions were huge, staff was friendly and attentive. Had a table by the window-would definitely only want a table upstairs. Would return!

Very average

By Xavier P |

Well placed in Little Italy, warm Italian welcome, the only good thing. For very, very average dishes, industrial meatball tomato sauce with no definable taste, even beer has little taste.

Good food...but $8 for a bottle of water?

By Zotmeister |

In the heart of Little Italy. Overall, the food was tasty and in good portions. The inside dining area was too warm and staff can't seem to adjust cooling the room. Charging people $8 for a carafe of tap water is outrageous!

Excellent Italian

By C3650SCjimd |

Excellent food and great service. The veal pizziolla was awesome. The lobster ravioli with a half of lobster special was incredible. They went off menu and made my daughter spaghetti piccata which she absolutely loved. Great pricing. The waiter was amazing and on point. Great dining room with the doors open to the exterior patio. I highly recommend this place.

Authentic Italian

We were in New York City and went to Little Italy and Caffe Napoli was extremely delicious. Italian speaking waiters, quaint little restaurant with excellent food. Easy to find and definitely delicious

Lunch in little Italy.

By roger bell |

We visited cafe Napoli for lunch on our recent trip to New York. The food was authentic Italian fare as you would hope and very tasty. The service was good and friendly. Decent value for money. We ate outside and the atmosphere was great watching the world go by. A very busy part of town. I would eat there again if visiting New York, which we would love to do.

Expensive

By AVFA |

Went in on a very hot day for some coffee and cake. Service was good. We hoped that an Italian cafe will have good coffee but it was not very good. Canoli was pretty average.

Average Food, Unconfortable Dining Experience

By Maniac42 |

I was disappointed with our dining experience here. It was incredibly warm and uncomfortable in the dining room. We mentioned this to management, with no response. The food was reasonably priced and the service was average, could have been a much better experience if we all weren't miserably hot and uncomfortable. I wouldn't recommend this place on a warm day or if you're seeking high end Italian food, much better choices available.

Best Pizza ever

By MargieV611 |

Best pizza I have ever had, the pizza base was so light and tasted amazing. Well worth a look when in little Italy .

Fantastic but be careful

By rsjohn8 |

We stopped here on our first day making our way through a New York the restaurant was busy and our waiter very charming. Our food was amazing and probably the best we have had over our holiday but the specials we ordered and sharing starters bumped our bill up so much so that the shine was taken off what was otherwise an amazing experience. I would recommend this restaurant but please beware and ask for prices and confirm servings for sides (your not being stingey!) we got charged for 8 sides of French fries rather than the two which would have sufficed.

Not recommended

By Frank W |

Food was ok but beware here 26% service is automatically added to the bill. As a result, very expensive Would advise anyone to go in here

Great ravioli

By Darren Q |

My wife and had recently just returned from Italy. We were both still craving Italian food. Caffe Napoli did not disappoint. The beef/mushroom ravioli and mushroom ravioli were excellent. Our entire meal was fantastic. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. I could tell they all really cared. I would visit again.

Nice pizza. Amazing focaccia starter

By mrbens |

Nice atmosphere. Casual and relaxed. Average prices. Great quality free focaccia bread and dip. Nice pizza. Thick base. Usually prefer thinner bases. Shared a pizza and salad with my wife. Nice lunch. Air conditioning inside.

Good food and atmosphere!

By Travelpro G |

Went during the San Gennaro festival. The entire area was slammed busy. All things considered we were seated with a minimum wait time, the service was still friendly and the food was good.

Waste of time for pizza

By Jorisvs |

We went with the family just for a quick dinner eating pizza. First experience while entering the business is there’s been no update since the ‘90’s all a bit worn out. Staff was friendly and very polite and mentioned it’s Happy Hour. We ordered the antipasti of the house. It had minimal creativity and taste. The pizza we ordered is a joke and mirrors the quality of a frozen one. The base taste like a prefab one It’s been the worst pizza I’ve ever eaten. When bill presented we notified why the wine was charged in full - the next joke came - happy hour is only if a glass of wine is ordered not when you have a caraf of wine. For us not a place to visit again….

Great customer service from female manager

By CambridgeCommuter |

As per the title, the 5 stars is for the way the female manager handled things. After a mix up over my take-out dessert order on my sit-in dinner visit, the female staff member on duty the next morning sorted it out with no fuss. That’s the way to do good business! In terms of the food, the margarita pizza I had was very good, a traditional Italian pizza the way it should be and though not exactly as it is made in Naples it was completely delicious. However, $45 for a pizza, a beer and a pre-made mini cheesecake is steep! Especially with the pizza being the only stand-out thing. And the waiters (here and elsewhere to be fair) are very keen to upsell to get your order up as high as possible. The restaurant was fairly empty when I arrived at 8pm ish. I took a window seat to look out and also to make it look busier and hopefully attract more customers in for them. When another couple came in they turned the heater on for us which was appreciated. I first visited Little Italy in 1999, and again in 2016. It is not what it was. But it has potential to be so much more and to honour Italian culture – perhaps a museum or gallery could help revive the area.

Great lunch in Little Italy

By gogiandtom |

We just popped in for lunch while strolling through Little Italy on a recent trip to NYC. The pasta dishes were very good, We had nice wines by the glass, and the service was friendly and attentive,We were also able to eat outside on a lovely sidewalk table. Would happily go back for lunch or dinner.

Yummy!!

Great spot . True Italian cuisine would recommend for sure , great service, soup was excellent and coffee was true Italian espresso

Awesome

By MAG1008 |

This has been one of the top 5 best meals since we move to New York 2.5 years ago. Salvatore and Felipe, our waiters were awesome. Great service, we did not feel rushed at all. Great food, our ravioli and lobster and ravioli and filet mignon were perfect. The wine was also excellent, cabernet sauvignon Newton. Overall, perfect 5

Pasta is 3/5. Awful and dirty restroom. Tip guide is very expensive. Strongly don't recommend for visiting.

just a tourist rip off....

By Bob |

We asked the waiter if they serve Aperol Spritz. Yes, he answered, so we ordered 2. What we became was a cheap, artificial and awfully sweet fake. We complained. They were super rude but offered to take it back. I tried one, but honestly, it was horrible, so I did not drink it. They still charged the full price for it. Not a nice experience, we recommend to go somewhere else, where people are honest and kind.

Great Restaurant

By Neki |

We had amazing dinner in this restaurant. Service and food is great. And I would love to thank amazing hostes Granit who convinced us to enter in this restaurant. He was so polite and friendly. Food is so tasty .. I would recomend to anyone !

Got scammed

By Hiram L R |

Was made to provide tip, charged for chicken that was automatically given as part of meal, charged service charge, expecting to pay about $50 with tip charged about $70 in reality.

Good Food - only reason for 3 stars

By Dianne K |

Visited Little Italy last Saturday for The San Gennaro Festivities and decided on a whim to dine at this restaurant without reservations since the menu was one that would please all three of us and one of their servers quickly guided us to an open outside table. Menu offered decent variety for everything from soups, salads, pasta, chicken and fish dishes. The waiter was pleasant and our water, beverages, bread and soup/appetizer were all served promptly. Pasta Fagioli soup was tasty as were the stuffed mushrooms. We each ordered different dishes - Fettuccini Alfredo, Chicken Picante and Pasta Pomodoro which all pleasantly passed out taste test. The downside is the fact that 40 plus minutes after we ordered, we were still waiting for our main courses. We tried a couple of times to catch our waiter's attention but all the servers were hustling it seemed to get patrons orders, just not as quick to bring them out - in fact, one of them tried to clear our table of the bread and dipping oil, thinking we had already been served our meal. When the waiter finally happened to glance our way and noticed no food, he asked if we were still waiting and apologized and disappeared into the restaurant for probably 5 more minutes before our entrees were finally served. granted it was during festival time but there were a few empty tables on the outside that did eventually fill up but not before another table got up and left due to the long wait for their food. We were eventually comp'd for two beers, but didn't order dessert because we didn't have the patience to wait another 40 minutes for that. 3 stars for the food, 1 for the delivery of the food. We try and go to the festival every year and this restaurant will not make out list of places to dine again.

Was amazing but then disappointed when the bill came!

By CARB1_07 |

The food was amazing! Great portion sizes but when we arrived we ordered alcoholic drinks, one of the staff asked if we wanted water so said yes (our fault for not checking if we had to pay) however the bill came & the water was $8 plus 18% gratuity which was fine but then we noticed they asked locals if they wanted water but gave them it out of a jug not a bottle like we had! We questioned it & they removed it which equated to $10. Just disappointed that they treated locals different to us & expected us to pay for bottled water when we had 2 alcoholic drinks each

Great dinner!

By Lorabee |

Girls trip 2018! We had eyed Caffe Napoli early in the day while perusing Little Italy in New York. We went back for dinner one night since it was so close to our room and it was just perfect. The food was delicious and their portions are so generous. Have a large appetite or split a meal. The lighting and street side dining was just icing on the cake. You can't tell in our photo, but we were sitting facing the street with opened French doors. It was so romantic. Too bad it was just us girls. Definitely recommend for those guys looking to have a great meal and score some brownie points along the way!

Be careful with suggestions…!!!

By Guadalupe B |

My husband, a friend and I were heading to another restaurant and a Napoli employee encouraged us to try their dishes and we entered. The place is very well located and we liked it. He suggested an antipasto with burrata and prosciutto. It was six slices of bread with oil and fresh tomato, a little prosciutto, some olives and a piece of burrata. It was not on the menu and they charged us $60 USD for it. We ordered a very tasty pasta carbonara and a very good ossobucco. At the end of the digestif they suggested a grappa for which they charged $20 each glass. In short, it was tasty but they abused it by charging for their suggestions. Then I read the reviews and saw that it is a common practice in that restaurant.

Enjoyed!

By montgomcl |

I hadn't eaten here in a year or so, but went back in December. Still very good. The service is very friendly and accommodating. Food is still excellent. Highly recommend.

Little Italy gem not to be missed

By Kely8888 |

Great atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff. Food is outstanding. I will come back this Christmas.

Scam alert

By fishingchic |

We wanted to order linguine with white clam sauce which was on the menu for $19. We got lobster pescatore for $43.95. When we we told our waiter, Luis, that it wasn’t what we ordered, he started using a very bad Italian accent like we had a communication problem. Lunch cost us $100 for two and we tipped 18% on top of that. Pick another restaurant if you’re in Little Italy. The food was average at that.

Stuffed!

By Tracee S |

We had the antipasti platter to start...way more than enough for four people! I had the veal saltimbocca, which was out of this world! The handmade gnocchi were light as clouds! The dessert was creme brule and Chocolate bomba....yum! The service was great, they

Becareful

By chefvhall |

Food was good. Just be careful and check your Bill. Our waiter added an extra meal to our bill. When I called him over he already knew the problem, and was apologizing before I showed him the mistake. He grabbed the bill, took of the extra meal, which I never pointed out to him, and added a gratuity, hoping I would double tip him. I gave two stars because the food was good, bit they will try and steal your money.

Our Favorite Restaurant!

By Liesl F |

This is our favorite restaurant in NYC! The staff is always incredible, the food is top of the line, and the location is right in the heart of Little Italy! Come hungry, as the portions are not small!

One of the best places I’ve

By Johnny Ireland |

One of the best places I’ve ever been for Italian food! Had a very cosy experience on an otherwise cold New York winter night. The service, the food and everything in between was perfect. Nicest bread ever made...wanted to take it home with me.

A really nice dinner by candlelight

By JulieFabris |

Stopped in for some old school NYC last night and really loved our meal. Not a super fancy place and there is so much competition, but we loved it. I had the Chicken Francese and my husband had the Spaghetti Puttanesca. The complimentary Focaccia bread and oil was to die for and the $5.00 Coronas an added bonus. The tip is on the bill so don’t leave two, lol.

Not very impressed

By Alex W |

Went with family, it was the first place on the block so we decided to eat there. Service was great and people were friendly. Food was pretty average for the area. Ordered the seafood pasta special, lobster was over cooked and left fully shelled which would have ended up quite messy given that it was also served with red sauce; that should have been the hint. For the money there are better places up the block.

Tourist Trap in Little Italy

By Lilian D |

We had expectations to have a nice meal in Little Italy. However, we weren’t lucky on our choice of restaurant. Caffe Napoli turned out to be a tourist trap for us. They had a set menu with meals of the day and it wasn’t good. I asked for a Peroni bottle of beer and the waiter brought me a glass of beer, which wasn’t good and I couldn’t be sure that was a real Peroni, because it tasted different. The waiter said that he couldn’t bring the bottle to the table, which was odd to me. Be careful, it can be a tourist trap to you in Little Italy.

Tourist Trap

By Swan |

We had read that to eat good pasta in New York we had to avoid Little Italy as it was a trap for tourists, but we got a two-hour slop and, after a (normal) coffee, we decided to eat also until it stopped, we had no choice. Indeed, the food was unfortunate. Pizza, to call it something, was frozen, the dough was bread, and the cheese had no flavor. Gnocchi could be eaten, but the supposed pesto sauce was smokeless, with a mint aroma? The price is obviously too expensive, not because of the quality of the product, but because neither in Rome, Sicily nor Venice have I paid so much to eat pasta. Place to avoid

Fantastic food and staff

By Mrs and Mr S |

Absolutely beautiful fresh food! Service is fantastic! Food was out of this world! We had a selection of pasta dishes and pizza and every dish was fantastic! Staff are great and service was really fast! Would highly recommended.

A $30 Uber to get to a little bit of heaven.

By joebabu |

Of course with the return trip it was $60 from/to our hotel room on the upper west side but it was definitely worth it. We’ve made many trips to Little Italy over the past two years. We’ve walked up and down Mulberry Street and thought about dining elsewhere but our palettes always bring us back to Caffe Napoli. The fried calamari is the best we’ve ever had. Chicken with capers and pasta to die for. Mushroom filled ravioli ends up on my plate trip after trip. Oh...don’t forget the mutely dressed arugula salad with shaved Romano on top. The atmosphere is all Italian...just like the staff. Our personal favorite, Carlo, is an exceptional server who I think actually remembers us when we come (although he’s probably just a great server to make us think so.) Give yourself some time, share your plates with your spouse or friend and settle in for an amazing time.

A Pleasant Surprise

By Arlene H |

We stopped for a happy hour drink and had such a nice sidewalk table and pleasant interactions with our waiter that we stayed for dinner. As this is in "touristy" Little Italy, we didn't have high expectations, but were pleasantly surprised with a fresh salad and delicious chicken piccata. The focaccia and salad were fresh and tasty. The prices were reasonable, and it was loads of fun watching the people walk by. We'd happily return.

Great ravioli and focaccia!

By Dawson |

My daughter and I enjoyed a very good lunch here while exploring Little Italy. The focaccia with olive oil and the cheese ravioli with marinara sauce were both very good, and it all tasted like it was freshly made. We will definitely go there again someday. Highly recommended!

Tourist Trap!

By Marie L. |

I'm just getting around to writing reviews now. Stopped in for lunch during San Gennaro feast whereby each restaurant is hawking for your business. (I get it, fierce competition). Not sure if they were taking advantage of the tourists or if this is how this place normally rolls, but not impressed. We are not tourists but were in the area and decided to get something to eat. They push the drinks. Husband ordered a coke and I ordered a GLASS of sangria. Out came a CARAFE of sangria - we told the non-English speaking waiter we only ordered a glass, but he just kinda shrugged and left the carafe. The bill comes and we were charged $36 for that carafe! The food was ok, but came with nothing. Ordered 2 chicken dishes and the portions were not really enough. Ordered the bruschetta app - please - 4 small pieces of stale bread with, no exaggeration, about 2 Tbs of chopped tomato and mozzarella. I don't like to leave poor reviews, but when restaurants are clearly and obviously out to take advantage of it's patrons, then I will tell the truth. All in it was $98 plus tip and we left hungry. One and done with this place. Useful 1

Nice food, not exceptional.

By Elle59 |

We were looking for somewhere to accommodate 12 people. The restaurant looked nice from outside. Once we entered the staff made a table to accommodate us. I was a bit weary as there was an overwhelming smell of bleach as we made our way to the table. I sat under the tv, next to a drainpipe that was boiling hot. Not very health and safety. Could have been lagged. I popped to the ladies downstairs, no room to turn or move as the stalls were so small, two toilets crammed into room for one. Not the cleanest of places. We checked out the menu and found it a bit pricey for what it was, however, we were hungry and the other diners food looked nice. We had 2 babies and 3 children with us. No children's menu on offer. This was not fine dining, albeit there were tablecloths on the table covered with glass sheets. The food was nice, not exceptional. Pricey for what it was. Service was included. Our guy was friendly, although he realised that we were not there to wine and dine when we ignored the wine menu. I'm surprised by other reviews. This is not somewhere I'd recommend to people if they were off to New York. Perhaps, I'm blessed to have really good restaurants on hand. I'm sorry this didn't do it for us. Very expensive for average food.

Served moldy bread twice.

By Claire H |

We ordered our food and then they brought us our bread basket. Our bread was covered in grey mold. We asked the waiter to check it and bring us new bread, and they acted as if they didn't understand what mold was, and tried to tell us that it wasn't mold. Upon further request, they took away that bread basket and brought us a new one. To our disgust, the new bread was covered in cob-web looking filth and even more mold. DO NOT EAT HERE.

Outstanding dining experience

By Philip F |

Caffe Napoli 191 Hester St, New York, NY 10013, Great old school Italian restaurant nestled in the heart of Little Italy, New York City. Skillful hands of Chef Ivan and the amazing staff, made this guy feel as if I was at grandma’s dinner table. Anthony and Lucky, excellent, knowledgeable and knew just how to make you feel at home. The food outstanding, Amy and I are planning our next trip back from the Jersey shore. The Broiled Salmon 🍣 excellent along with the mixed veggies. Amy said, it was better than mine. That hurt, however after tasting, I had to agree. The Chicken 🐓 Piccata out of this world, just the right about lemon, capers and the garlic 🧄 roasted to perfection. This is a go to place, lunch or dinner, the entire staff are fantastic. Chef Ivan, Anthony and Lucky thanks for a wonderful dining experience in the city that I Love, in the section of my heritage LITTLE ITALY........ PHILIP & AMY FALZARANO

Great Deserts

Excellent cannoli`s, and very busy! If eating in sit down, and waitress will come take your order. Today nowhere to sit. We took itto go.

Amazing food and service

By Samantha DS |

Made to feel at home, we were welcomed into caffe Napoli for an amazing dining experience in Little Italy. It’s a small intimate restaurant, we even made friends with the couple dining next to us. Felipe, our server was incredible and upbeat and the food was soooo soooo delicious. Highly recommend this place ❤️

Terrible pizza

By Docwake |

I rarely give poor reviews, but this place was only saved from a one star review by its mediocre pasta. The pizza was truly terrible, doughy, greasy and tasteless. The stuffed mushroom starter had no flavour and was just stodgy. There are far better places than this.

Great Gnocchi, Great Service

By Jim S |

My wife and i meandered through Little Italy NYC for a day and found Caffe Napoli to be a great spot for a break. I am sure there are some good restaurants in Little Italy however Caffe Napoli provided a great location in the main intersection of Little Italy, fresh and tasty food and great service. The guy who served us was a Albanian man (Kastro???) but anyway he was just fantastic as he waited on us for over 2 hours. We started with some drinks, by the time we finished our drinks it was around lunch time so my wife ordered the Ravioli and I ordered the Gnocchi....WOW!!!!! Full of flavour, big servings and everything was FRESH!! What a great find in Little Italy. I highly recommend Caffe Napoli to anyone visiting Little Italy in NYC.

Great Service & Great Food

By Josh T |

Were welcomed in by the friendly staff. Sal was a fantastic host and waiter. Suggested wine and food were delicious! Lobster Ravioli was the best!! Thank you for the delicious meal and great service we will see you soon.

Poor food and very poor service

By David H |

Visited the restaurant for dinner during our stay in NY. We had a good outside table on a lovely warm evening. Unfortunately that was as good as it got. The service, even by NY standards, was truly terrible. Menus, drinks and dishes were literally thrown onto the table. The mediocre food failed to compensate. This is possibly the worse Italian meal we have ever had!

Lively and fun atmosphere, ok food

By Derek M |

Travelling with my teenaged children, and enticed on the sidewalk by a very engaging waiter who sang / recited the menu choices with his arm around my son's shoulders in a very charming way. The place was fun, the staff were friendly, and the service efficient. We had only pizzas and drinks, and the pizzas were nice, but not exceptional. It may be that other menu items would be better, but I can't comment beyond the pizzas on this occasion. Fine dining it wasn't, but it was an enjoyable visit and not too expensive, and my children enjoyed the experience so I'm happy..

Stopped after a long day of museums, and had great food.

By Floyd G |

We wanted to eat in Little Italy after a day of museums. We were footsore, and this was the first place we saw in Little Italy. The bread was great, my wife's chicken marsala was excellent, and I had the veal piccata and it was wonderful. The house reds were fine, mine was a very good chianti. Salvatore was a great host. I have a suspicion that one cannot go wrong in Little Italy, but we were most happy with our food and the experience.

Well worth a visit!

By Julie C |

Great service, great atmosphere and great service - what more could you ask for? Portions were plentiful, and everything was clearly priced on the menu.

Finally a fabulous experience

By Kalina G |

Very good pizza, great service, very welcoming. Caffè ottimo!!! I highly recommend going to eat at them.

Go for the corner street seating

By ZenDark30 |

Classic “Little Italy” is a fun place to visit with lots of street restaurants offering fresh pasta and gelato. This place has fresh tortellini, lasagna and bolognese. The salads were good. Nice outdoor seating.

Good pasta

By Emma Williams |

One of our favourite meals during our visit. Bruschetta was enough to share. I had the rigatoni in vodka sauce. My husband had the meatballs and spaghetti. The complimentary focaccia was delicious too. Good wine. We didn’t have dessert. Bill was around £90 Service was good. We chatted to a local on the next table who eats there every week. Lovely atmosphere and worth a visit

Lovely Italian

By Olivia S |

This was a quaint spot to stop for a bite to eat and a drink. We had 2 authentic starters(bruschetta and struggled mushrooms) we wish we were hungrier to other more, it was amazing! Lovely stop on a cold snowy morning

Yummy Italian in Little Italy!

Delicious, fresh ingredients! Quaint atmosphere with great service. Variety on the menu pleasing to all family members. A must try while in Little Italy New York, NY

Just wow...75 years of authenticity.

By Joe M |

My wife and I were looking for a place to dine in little Italy. We came across Caffe Napoli. What an experience, the waiters, chefs, the food... oh my... the food, the service - brilliant. I have travelled Europe 5 times and can assure you this restaurant is an authentic Italian paradise!

Was hoping for better

By myatt83 |

Indoor and outdoor seating. Indoor seating was quite cramped . Very hot. No AC no fans. Sat inside and they Played loud music so in combination with noise from the street made it hard to have a conversation. I ordered a Caesar salad and even pointed at it on the menu when I ordered but apparently the waiter heard something as he seemed to be barely paying attention. Instead of a Caesar salad they later brought a caprese dish. Also order chicken parm. It was ok but nothing special. Was hoping for better from little Italy chicken was very very thin and tasted bland. Pasta was obviously store bought. Ordered chocolate cannolis and a bomba and those were really good so at least some positives. felt a bit over priced for what it was even given it’s location.

Great Family Restaurant

By Winslow P |

Came here with my family from out of town. The staff and ownership know how to make you feel welcome. The food was fantastic and the service was great. My family including the picky eaters all loved there meals. I strongly recommend this place.

Nice place to stop for drinks

By LL721 |

We stopped here for drinks. The tables were really close together and it was the only thing we did not enjoy. Drinks (wine and beer) were otherwise OK. Service was OK.

Wonderful Lunch in Lil' Italy

By pawpaw |

Dined here 1/12/19 for lunch with two girlfriends. We were treated like Italian royalty! We were given an overview of the menu, specials and all of our questions were answered. Great recommendations as well. I chose chicken marsala and it was divine. One friend had chicken picatta, the other pasta with puttanesca and there were no complaints. The bread...oh, the bread....was fantastic and it was served with a great herbed dipping sauce. It was a fun dining experience, which was what we were looking for on this particular day. The staff took pictures of us when requested even though they were very busy. I've eaten at some wonderful, small Italian restaurant in all over Tuscany and Northern Italy and this was very reminiscent. Many thanks.

Dreadful service

By G Hobbs |

We had an enjoyable walk around Little Italy and just fancied coffee and cake. Quickly seated but then just left. Eventually, after about 10 minutes, a reluctant waiter came with all of the charisma of a wet paper bag. The coffee was old and of poor quality and the cheesecake very average. Couldn’t get anyone to give us the bill. Just walked past and ignored us. Was very tempted to just get up and leave. After about 15 minutes, eventually got someone to bring us it. Eventually got the manager’s attention as they had the audacity to automatically add 20% gratuity to the bill! Don’t bother with this place. Better elsewhere!

A big thumbs up from me ...

By AlwaysBeenJen |

I've been going to this restaurant for nearly 20 years, and it never disappoints. I try to go here every time I visit NYC. When weather permits, I love sitting in the sidewalk patio area, but the location of the table is not so important because the food makes you forget everything else. On this trip, I had the lasagna and my husband had the chicken parm. We shared, and both were delicious. We also had dessert (profiteroles and a cannoli) - both were yummy! Service was impeccable - they were attentive without being over-bearing. Will continue to visit as regularly as possible and recommend others do so as well.

Exceptional food and service

By Keith N |

We fancied Italian food and were given some good restaurant recommendations from our hotel reception and from the bar man at a local tavern, so we set off to little Italy and started along the street looking for them. Part way In we stopped to look at the menu at Cafe Napoli. One of the waiters came out and very pleasantly told us what they had on offer. We settled on 2 different options from the specials. We were not disappointed... the food was exceptional and full of beautiful flavours. The staff were very attentive and efficient. This is a restaurant that I would highly recommend. The menu is good as are the prices however the specials are a bit more expensive But you get what you pay for and our food was worth every cent.

Saturday Lunch

By Brock K |

Very good lobster. Everything we ate was excellent. Pricy for lunch so look at the prices closely. Very friendly staff and great outdoor seating spaces especially on weekends when streets are closed to vehicle traffic.

Incredible

My husband and I dropped in while shopping in ChinaTown. We had delicious Rose and Bucatini Al’Amatriciana. INCREDIBLE! Great service and lovely outdoor seating

Hope the food is better

Not worth the time. We stopped and got some desert for the airplane ride home. Not worth going security with it. The chocolate tasted very fake and the napoleon was gross. Hope their food is better

Avoid!!!!!

By matty603716 |

Popped in here with my other half after a lovely boat ride to see the statue of liberty and really wished we hadn't! Had a calamari starter for $17 which was ok then ordered two pizzas at $40 which tasted like they was put in a microwave! Then on top of this was charged an 18% gratuity tip for a mediocre service and terrible food being ij little italy you would expect them to at least cook a pizza with fresh dough!! there was much better looking restaraunts in the area that didn't seem to want to tourist trap you so try elsewhere 3/10 👎

Italy in America

Great dining experience in Little Italy. Started with appetizers and ended with spaghetti in vodka sauce.. Outdoor dining in the evening. Serenaded by a singer and an accordion player. Free sangria didn't hurt anything.

Avoid this place: Terrible value, bad food

By HonestReviewer99 |

This spot has awful value, charging 30$ per entree of very very below average food. Long waiting times, and pretty bad service, don’t recommend at all

Withdraws 20% extra on credit cards

By celinehyldig |

The food was really good. However, I am very unhappy that they have withdrawn 20% extra on my account, despite the fact that I pressed “no” for drinks, as we had cash with for this purpose. On the bone, the amount for our food is stated, but there's nowhere that I'm allowing them to withdraw the extra 20%.

Not HONEST on charges

By Excursion580992 |

Visited NYC 2 years ago, found Caffe Napoli in Little Italy, food was good, got the bill for family of 3, for 3 soft drinks due to refills $21 but soft drinks!!! Fast forward to last night, walking through Little Italy on the way to another restaurant, man on the curb outside restaurant. Gave us his speech. I told him, you have good food, but I promised myself I would not be back due to $21 soft drinks 2 years ago. “No problem mam free refills for you tonight”. Party of 3- with TWO separate checks. Meal was decent. The bill came as one with 18% gratuity automatically added!!! IF I WANT TO PAY YOU THAT MUCH IT SHOULD BE MY CHOICE! Spoke with manager at first “party of 3 or more automatically added”. (Menu states party of 6 or more 18%). They REFUSED to allow 15%! Then the managers story was “it’s in our system”. But mam when you come back your dinner will be on us. Don’t worry sir, fool me once shame on you, fool be twice shame on me! If I come back to NYC I will avoid this place and you should NOT BE FOOLED either. Dishonest business practices. Read other reviews, I am NOT the only one!

Sunday lunch

By jason d |

3 kids 2 adults. A salad and 3 pizzas and the house ravioli with beef . All superb and delicious ! Pasta homemade . As was pizza . Staff are all lovely and very friendly . A must in a very competitive area !

Best Gnocchi ever

By Maximilian A |

I just had the best meal in little Italy nyc! A little pricey but omg was it amazing. My girlfriend and I shared the antipasto platter which is massive and I had the pesto gnocchi with shrimp. Finished it off with a grappa! They had to roll me out hahah 11/10 would recommend.

For turist- Albanian restaurant

By LVALLEP |

I cannot complain about the food, the food is just ok and seems homemade. We went in because the guy outside was friendly, considering most of the restaurants there look the same, for tourist. Inside the staff is Albanian, no Italian. They were talking in Albanian high, looks like arguing. At 1.20pm, the took the bill without ask, the restaurant was only 30% full, so plenty tables. But we wanted coffees 😬 we asked them, can we have some coffee before the bill? He was “ Oook!” 12$ tip included in the bill for the bad active of the staff , that we paid because we wanted only leave that place. We walked out the restaurant, 5-6 staff looking us, they didn’t even thank you, my husband and me wished Merry Xmas , because was lunch xmas eve. I would not come back, place for tourist, only one visit customer, no intention to improve the services.

Skip the desert !

By Dr_Iris_B |

We were walking around Little Italy and stopped here for coffee and desert. We sat outside which was very nice at night. It seems to us that the server was a bit disappointed we were not having a full dinner but eventually we got service. The deserts were tasty but a bit overpriced and not truly Italian or homemade. The coffee , on the other hand, was great!

Great coffee and patries

By Pat B |

If you are walking around Little Italy and want to take a break by having a great Italian coffee - this is the place to go. I had an amazing expresso and my husband a fantastic cappuccino. Their pastries were fresh and delicious.

Uninspired lunch

By E8887TZmartinp |

We wanted a moderately priced lunch so choose from the “lunch menu” at about $15 per pizza or pasta plus tax and 18% service. Frankly the food was very basic and not to European taste.

Great food and friendly staff

By Marnie |

We decided go visit little Italy and were overwhelmed by all the choice of restaurants. The young Italian guy outside here started chatting to us and to be honest he was the reason we went into the restaurant. He was so friendly, not pushy and we had a good chat about Scotland as he had visited before! The restaurant was busy and initially we were seated near to the front door which was cold. We allied to move and this was not an issue once a larger table left. We started with the stuffed mushrooms which were lovely and sauce was tomatoey and delicious. We then shared a pizza and Alfredo pasta. Both dishes tasted fresh and were yummy! We were too full for desert but enjoyed the experience.

This is a must try!

By Carolyn M |

Service was great! Sangria is the best!!!’ Food is delicious! We started with a warm mixture of calamari, stuffed mushrooms, etc. It was huge and very tasty! I had the chefs special filet stuffed ravioli in a creamy brandy sauce! Sooooo good! My daughter loved the fettuccine Alfredo. Husband like the seafood pasta. Highly recommend and will be back when we return!

Best meal that we had on our trip

By theGamblesDerby |

We had been out all day and we charmed in to this place be the waiter virtually singling the menu to us. In the end w didn't even see a menu we ordered the specials and they cooked my partner exactly what she asked them for. We were hungry and the meal, location and service was great. It is pretty expensive but we thought it was worth it.

Nice spot

By Alejandra Ramos |

After a hot morning walking around Chinatown and subway riding. These waiters here were very attentive and knew that we were dry. They brought out the coldest beer and freshest wine for us to enjoy the star of the afternoon.

Delightful Lunch whilst site seeing

By jayne r |

Whilst sightseeing in Little Italy on a rainy afternoon - we decided just to stop and have a coffee and were greeted by such a delightful team that we ended up staying for wine and desserts and a bit of banter - the Tiramisu is amazing. it was a miserable day and these guys really cheered us up - we will definitely go back when next in the area and recommend it to you! thanks to : Granit/Latif/Mario and Antonio front of house.

50th Anniversary

By Nanto5 |

We had delicious dinners with yummy creme brûlée. The waiters and staff were very helpful and happy to be around

Disappointing

By ALJ |

We were super excited about dinner in Little Italy as Italian food is our favourite. However, we were sorely disappointed. Aglio Olio e Peperoncino-garlic was almost burnt and bitter tasting. If it wasn’t for the Fettucine Al Fredo and bread (pretty tasty), we’d be scoring this a 1/5.

Amazing Italian food

By Sonali M |

Delicious authentic Italian food. One of the best Italian places in New York. All the pasta dishes are amazing. Portion sizes are big and satisfying. Staff is polite and friendly. Service is quick. Would highly recommend.

Fantastic Service

By AlexJ262 |

A cosy place for dinner in Little Italy. The menu has something for everyone with an extensive drinks list too. Service was impecable- very friendly and efficient. Free water and delicious bread & oil are provided. I had Rigatoni alla Vodka with Shrimp which was tasty and well cooked. The sauce was delicious. Not overly expensive for NYC- just note that they include an 18% tip in the bill so no need to add anything else on.

Italian food

By Moreno_chicago |

Nice place in Little Italy to eat good Italian food. The menu is honest and the food is good. Well done

Great Restaurant with food and service to match.

By Chezzz08 |

Visited this lovely restaurant for lunch. Genuine, delicious Italian pasta enjoyed by all of us. Wait staff were polite and went out of their way to make sure everything was right and we enjoyed our meal. Caffe Napoli will not disappoint, definitely worth stopping for a meal here.

Dinner

By Leigh Ann B |

Everything was fresh and delicious. We had caprese salad with fresh mozzarella and basil, bruschetta that was delicious, and the best gnocchi in pesto that we’ve ever had. The staff were very nice and the wine was only $7 a glass. Will definitely be back!

A-May-Zing!!

By kamadore |

This was one of the biggest highlights of our entire trip! The food was fresh, the staff was friendly, and the ambiance could not have been any better. I felt like I was in Italy! Louis was the best server!!

Worst experience.

By Alexandre M |

After having many recommandations of friends, my friend and i tried caffe napoli tonight. We had high hopes for the restaurant and the food. We had the antipasti calde wich is a plate of calamari, mozarella fried, shrimps, stuffed mushroom NOTHING was fresh made. The mushroom tasted old and frozen The calamari were decent The fried mozarella had NO taste at all. For the main course my friend had the mileanese veal with pasta.(like a chicken parmesan but with veal) The veal tasted like the crust(fried)bought from your local supermarket The pasta had so much garlic we took a photo of the main course. I took linguine vongole(linguine with clams) It was ok, nothing to add, taste was 6/10 Wine was ok 28$ wich is ok for a « cheap wine » One thing: the foccacia(bread) was great , we ate two basket since the meal was really bad. Final bill : 140US. A complete scam We will never go there again and my friend went two times in the past and quality was OK. Probably a change in chef or ownership?

Perfect dining with great service

By Passport40114035774 |

Our family dined at Caffe Napoli and we were not disappointed. The food was excellent from the Antipasto appetizer special to cannolis and cappuccino. We all ordered different entrees and each was appreciated. Our server, Luis, was attentive, helpful and efficient, making our visit special. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Horrendous. Felt totally ripped off. $70 for 2 pizzas because the waiter recommended Parma ham as a topping.

By Paddy M |

Poor value. Be prepared to be ripped off. Food only so so. Waiter sold extra topping on two pizzas and doubled the price to $70 for two mediocre pizzas!

Enjoyable

By Jennifer D |

Had dinner here after a day of sightseeing - very enjoyable Pasta was cooked to perfection. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Check your bill - was going to leave a tip bit then discovered they had already added 18% gratuity so I didn't leave any extra.

Best rigatoni carbonara

By Mike M |

The food was excellent. The bread had just the right amount of spices on it. It was fresh. The staff was extremely welcoming. I had the rigatoni carbonara. I highly recommend that.

Awful coffee

By Mikhail_Lyubich |

Filter coffee instead of normal Americano, desserts are also not so great... May be food is good, but not desserts...

Beware! Expensive scam!

By cookie578 |

In NYC with my family, strolling through Little Italy looking for a bite to eat for lunch and really was looking for a quick and easy cheap option. The guys are all outside the restaurants a little like in Europe selling you their wares. Let me tell you, they are very very Hugh caliber SALES PEOPLE! they hooked us in with a relatively good lunch time special $15 pizza/pasta menu Sat down and the waiter (slash top sales person) comes over and starts telling me all about their entrees (sound delicious I am HOOKED!) I said “oh we like all of those” to which he said “well I can do a little of everything for you” ok I think sounds good although I didn’t commit and we hadn’t ordered (and these starters were not on the menu, I repeat NOT on the menu) we order pretty simple dishes for mains and I guess the starter is a given as it’s not mentioned again. Well, these two enormous oval serving platters (width of table) turn up, heaving with food. Calamari, deep fried mozzarella, bakes mushrooms, clams..... on the other we have olives, cheese, cold meats, bruschetta.... Bearing in mind we are two adults, two teenagers and two kids, this would have fed us for a good few days it was eye bulgingly OTT. I gulped as at this point realize what they’ve done and feel a bit sick that we have most likely been totally tucked up. Barely dented the platters and they got taken away and our lunch arrived which was pretty average, Probably in line with prezzo in the UK. Ok Italian but not setting me on fire. Finish our food and bill arrives.... $228!!!!! We didn’t have any booze or dessert just entree platters, 3 pizzas (younger kids shared so was only 5 meals), one veggie pasta and one lunch special!!!!! The hot platter was $50 and the cold one $40 (more than I’d spend per person on average in UK on starters) Honestly, unless you have money to burn please be careful eating here as the food is average at best and overpriced (typical for a city) however it is the way you are sold food off menu which is really poor form. I work in sales and am super annoyed I’ve been tricked and had to spend so much money on average food which we barely ate. Please don’t fall for these tricks like we did if you only wanted a cheap lunch.... fine if you are having a couple of hours over dinner but this was a pit stop between sight seeing etc.

Wonderful

By CHS |

We stumbled upon this place walking around little Italy and from the friendly guy outside to Salvatore and his team inside, it was all fantastic. Couldn’t recommend this place enough. Quality food and quality service!

Fabulous find in little Italy

By Salina P |

Fabulous fresh food, really tasty, very attentive staff. I dropped the score to a 4 purely because I did find the cannolis a bit too sweet, but have no complaints about anything else. Definitely worth a visit !

Water, water...

By JACF815 |

Lovely spot to stop for a light lunch, just don’t order the bottled water...$8 is a bit steep to quench your thirst, same cost as a beer, which left a nicer taste in your mouth. Food was very nice, although $10 for fries was again a ‘welcome to NYC’ price. Cant complain about portion size, got a good feed. Nice service.

EXCELLENT!!!

By 765Michelle |

Gotta be honest... I saw these negative reviews and had to double check that I'm reviewing the same place. My mom, daughter and I are here and were blown away!!! Our meal was comparable to dishes we ate on our vacation to Rome, Sicily and Sorrento. This is FANTASTIC Italian food!!! The service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was great! I highly recommend it!!

Dishonest and rude waiter

By Colin M |

Really disappointed in this place. The meet and greet guy was great, food generally ok but main courses were slow (clearly forgotten about) and one of them was way under cooked. Staff couldn’t care less and insult the intelligence of their customers by lying to them. There are lots of tourist joints around here - avoid this one. Complacent and conceited but incompetent staff spoil things here.

Be aware

By Delwin C |

Tourist be aware of the appetizer scam. Ask for the price first. I only wanted the fried and they brought both fried and cold platter. Spent 35 per person for appetizers alone. Not including food. Had 10 people including kids and got taxed on it. Never again. Food was ok. Not worth it.

Great service from Philippe great food

By Aaron K |

Had a really good night at Caffe Napoli. Food was delicious, free bread was amazing, simple food but full of flavour. Service was amazing from Philippe (sorry if the spelling isn't right) he made the night fun and was very attentive and explained all the specials well. Very happy overall and will be back before our holiday ends! Thank you

AVOID this place, it is a ripoff

By OmarS |

Just a horrible experience, we went here after the 4th of July fireworks. They charge you a 18% gratuity before you even enter the door so as you expect, they don't give a sh*it about the service they provide you because they already have their tip. I was told the gratuity charge is the same for everyone and it's mandatory. The food was horrible for the price you pay. I had the penne pasta and it tasted like they took it out of the freezer and boiled for 1 minute. To make it worse, there's another line for tip on your final bill after they have already charge you so if you don't pay attention you are tipping then twice; of course they don't explain any of this to you and if you ask, the waiters don't have any answers and they want you to go see one of the supervisors who are no where to be found and you are sitting there waiting for over 30 minutes; just a horrible experience.

First meal in New York

By julie B |

having arrived in New York in the evening and after travelling from JFK and checking into our apartment, we were tired so didn't wander far. We were enticed to this place by an enthusiastic waiter- and we said just for drinks. However, after looking at the menu we decided to eat here in the end and glad we did. The pasta dishes were really good and as with America - good sized portions. An excellent way to spend an evening- dining al fresco and watching the world go by with good Italian food

Best Italian in New York, great experience

By Jack A |

All the staff here were super friendly and the food was brilliant. We sat outside on a warm day and had the chicken parmigiana on the waiters recommendation. Highly recommend this spot to all visiting NYC and locals alike

In the heart of little Italy!

By Thepik |

So, we were wandering around Little Italy and Chinatown when we stumbled upon this super cool hidden gem. We usually like places that are packed with people, not totally empty. The wood-fired pizza was to die for, and they had a great selection of beer too. It’s right in the heart of Little Italy, so it’s a must-visit for tourists. Just be prepared for a lively crowd!

Authentic Italian in the heart of Little Italy

By SamirNYC112 |

Nice atmosphere, great staff and excellent authentic Italian food. We had spaghetti & meatballs and Lasagna. The complimentary bread was really good and my friend ordered a bottle of red wine. Our server Cristiano was great, very professional & funny. Would definitely recommend Caffe Napoli.

Caffe Napolit is to be avoided

By New Canaan Guy |

Bad food; bad service; ripoff bill -- they add 18% but when they give you the stub to sign there is another tip line. you might tip twice without know it. This is a Clip Joint!

Great food, Great service @Caffe Napoli

By apf9930 |

We have dinner in Little Italy each time we visit NYC. Caffe Napoli service was top notch. We had an outside table and had several visits from attentive staff. We were not rushed and our wine, bread, salads and entrees were served timely. We were there celebrating husband's birthday and they served cake and sang! Great staff personality, the food was very good and reasonably priced. Unlike other reviews... there was no added gratuity on our check and we really enjoyed our evening! Thanks Caffe Napoli staff!!

Delicious coffe break in the end of the day! Very nice and helpful people! The Nutella coffe is really special!

Impulsive drop for food as we seen how nice it looked being severed as we walked past. They made my wig a pasta dish that wasn’t on the menu - very nice Atmosphere was great Location is perfect Staff and food was very good and overall a great experience and very authentic

Definitely better than its current 3 star rating

By Bill R |

Definitely better than its current 3star rating. My wife and I were looking for some good pasta and Italian desserts. One block in from the Welcome to Little Italy sign was Caffe Napoli. It was not very crowded on a Sunday night (7pm). Our waiter was excellent. We took our time deciding but when we, did the food was ready in no time. I had the tortellini bolognese and my wife had the gnocchi pomodoro. We had cannoli and Sfogliatella for dessert along with some coffee. I had the amaretto with my cappuccino. The price was reasonable for the area.

Delicious Italian lunch

By tinylass |

All restaurants on Mulberry Street were very busy on a Sunday afternoon. We fancied a carbonara so stopped at the first restaurant we saw that had it on the menu. Turned out to be a excellent choice as it was amazing! Such a simple dish yet it was sooo tasty! Finished off with a chocolate mousse which was also delicious, and a couple of amaretto and cokes and the very lovely staff and it was a brilliant last meal in NYC!

Caffé Napoli, The Best of Little Italy

By LittleTommy1 |

I took a trip to New York City over the first weekend of 2019 to take in the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree, Radio City Music Hall, Times Square, Macy’s and its wonderfully decorated windows, SAKS 5 Ave, the Theater District, Off-Broadway and more. Had not been there in a few years and was quite excited to see it all again. After seeing a wonderful Off-Broadway show “This One’s For The Girls” at St. Luke’s Theater on West 46th Street (see separate review) I headed off to Little Italy to enjoy some of the finest Italian food in all of New York City. I walked back and forth through all of Little Italy, up and down Mulberry St., while looking at all the fine restaurants to choose from. Tough decision as I have eaten at many of them over the last 10-15 years and have never been disappointed with a meal. I chose Caffé Napoli, 191 Hester Street, located at the corner of Mulberry and Hester and was immediately seated by maître d’ Salvatore at one of the nicer tables, with a nice view of the street and all who were walking past the restaurant. I had a delicious three course meal: salad, soup and an entree. There was no room for any desert, although I was certainly tempted. Food was delicious, service was impeccable and prices were reasonable. Caffé Napoli has been one of my favorite restaurants in Little Italy for a number of years. I rate it at 4 1/2 Stars!

Great unpretentious NYC Dinner

By James B |

Nipped in for a late night dinner after a show in Times Square. Food was great, unpretentious homely food. Staff very attentive. By New York standards the price wasn’t too terrible either

Walk on by!

By Biondino97 |

On a recent trip to NYC, I brought my partner, visiting for the first time, to Caffe Napoli. We were seated promptly, but that was the End of anything resembling ‘service’. To top it off, they included a 20% tip on our bill!! The tip was removed, but no apology for the abysmal service. If in Little Italy, take it from this lifelong New Yorker, Keep Walking!!!

Good italian food

By 512ky |

We followed the suggestion from YTs "here be barr" and found a nice restaurant in little italy during a lot of rain. The team was so nice and we had a good time. Bruschetta was very good, the main dish (carne cannelloni and i forgot which pasta my girlfriend had - was spicy) was good. We also had coffee and cake. The bill was around 90 dollar which i think is common for NY with some drinks, appetizer, main dish and dessert. Can recommend this but yeah, its touristy.

Fantastic Italian food

By Jewels12580 |

Stopped in Little Italy during our visit to NYC. Found parking close to the restaurant. Servers were very friendly and attentive. We ordered cheese ravioli, Caesar salad, side of meatballs, and crème brûlée. The food was outstanding and very tasty. They also served us some warm bread while we waited. I will definitely eat here again.

Friendly and flavorful

Walked in on a spacious restaurant in Little Italy (most where cramped with little tables and unable to accommodate a party of 11). Service was prompt and very friendly. Felipe took very good care of us.

Great food and service. Sat outside and had a very nice meal and overall dining experience. Would come back for sure!

Nothing special The chicken Parm was called in the waiters never came around offer cheese or pepper

By Mdandlex |

Ate here on the advice of a friend. I have eaten in many restaurants in little Italy and this is probably the worst. The food took forever to come out and was of no taste. The service was extremely slow I would recommend staying away. The margarita pizza was complete horrible, the chicken Parmesan was cold, and my salad was barely edible. I would definitely not recommend this place. Remember if they're outside begging you to come in and run the other way.

Great value lunch.....

By Dame2007 |

We stopped here for lunch and could not fault anything. We had a pasta dish each with sangria and cannoli with coffee for desert. £25 per head, perfect!

Not a positive experience

By Roberto N |

Negative experience. They tell you $25 pizza and beer and then the bill arrives for $77... not exactly honest... not disputed because it's useless. Decent pizza. Coffee 👎.

Excellent

By m w |

Seafood risotto with or without lobster was excellent. Lobster was $6 more than without. Most of the restaurants here have the same 12 dishes with slight variations. This was excellent.

Offense to Italy

By Fabio C |

Offense to Naples and the Neapolitans. We had a coffee trusting the fellow villager at the entrance. Never drank anything worse in our life. In any bar in New York (not necessarily Italian) you can find a better espresso. I don't know with what courage one could sponsor something like this to Neapolitan kids. Now in exchange for 6 measly dollars you have received a nice negative review. Great marketing geniuses. It would take zalone to take down your sign.

Had a lovely meal of veal with cheese and vegetables and a very good pasta. Slightly pricey, but we’re in New York after all.

DO NOT COME TO THIS PLACE !! IT’S A SCAM !!

By Corinne L |

This restaurant is an absolute scam with tourists. It is just very dishonest business. Once you sit down, a shady waiter comes to you and tells you about the “off the menu specials” which are apparently his favorites. We ended up ordering one of the specials he mentioned which was the ‘seafood linguini’, the capriciosa pizza and an Italian salad. For the salad, we got an entire antipasto + bruschetta salad which we did not ask for. The waiter then told us off and said that this was an Italian salad and what we ordered. I just wanted a plain salad! Then when the linguini came, there was half a lobster in the seafood mix which again he did not mention was in it and we didn’t ask for it. When we checked the menu, it said that the lobster was an optional add-on. The waiter insisted on explaining that this was the seafood linguini we ordered. After telling them we were not happy with their dishonesty, the waiter hesitantly got the lobster removed but became angry with us. The pizza was disgusting too as it was pre-baked and the base was hard as bricks. Overpriced and not worth it!!! Rude and incompetent waiters!! There was a stupid mandatory 15% service charge add-on too.

Horrible,just horrible

By Gian M |

Ok so first off to make the pizza they get frickin toast and add some HENIZ tomato sauce then they add lards of mozzarella and you know what they dont even put it in an oven they GRILL the pizza and I try to hold the pizza to eat it and ALL Of the cheese on it just falls off and the calamari was the only good thing. I would NEVER recommend this restaurant to someone and the restaurant is suppose to be Italian but the waiters were MEXICAN they weren't even Italian the most Italian thing there was the name I AM TOTTALY NOT SATISFIED WITH THIS RESTURANT IT IS REALLY BAD

Fantastic local Italian restaurant,

By Jason M |

Fantastic local Italian restaurant, with wide variety of homemade Italian food. Restaurant staff was cordial, inviting, friendly with outgoing and fun personalities. They made it a very enjoyable experience for our entire family over a short trip Christmas vacation. Highly recommend to everyone willing to travel to Little Italy to experience a slice of the old country.

Lovely panini pitstop

Good pasta, Rubbish Pizza

By Gracie2307 |

The pasta is the upside. The pizza. Well this has to be the worst pizza I’ve had. It represented nothing of a pizza linked to anything Italian. It was a joke to be honest. If you go here, don’t waste your time with the pizza. Service is good

Excellent service and food!

The cute Italian was a great salesman and ushered us in to be seated. Excellent service and even better food! Lobster ravioli was perfect and the focaccia bread and olive oil as well as the antipasto plate were superb! Highly recommend!

We ordered bruschetta, a delicious chicken francaise and meat lasagna, the food was very good, the servers were very super nice and the prices were decent (we paid around $80 that included a soda and one Beer) , space itself is warm and welcoming.

cannot hold the Italian sign

By giuseppe |

It's the first time I've written a negative review, I'm against general reviews but in this case they usurp the name of our land! we ordered 3 coffees and they asked me to pay only in cash.... for the card only higher payments and so far prosit. then they denied the bathroom to my daughter a 13-year-old girl claiming that with three coffees you can not use the bathroom! When the manager heard me say that they can not put the license plate Italian restaurant tried to recover worsening the situation by telling me that for such low amounts (3 coffees) wants the money cash! Italian cuisine is UNESCO heritage can not use the Italian brand these people!

A true surprise

By Stéphane C |

Our 10 years old daughter led us to this place (out of hunger and impatience) and the outcome was... terrific ! Food was absolutely great (except maybe for the eclair i took for desert which was a bit dry for my european taste but that was a minor thinh), staff was super friendly (even after we were in 😁) and helpful and prices were very correct, against our worst prejudices . We really enjoyed the experience and can only recommend it.

Don’t miss Caffe Napoli during your visit to Little Italy!

Authentic food, great service, and superb location snack in the middle of Little Italy. Just love this place. Have returned over the years and it’s still great! Highly recommend. Kid friendly, but also has a quaint, romantic ambience.

The food here is "classic" italian with generous portions - great flavours. They are not afraid to use garlic - hooray! Their antipasto mix, and stuffed chicken marsala (not the usual marsala) was outstanding. This is not upscale from a presentation or from a service, but it is fun, and the food is tasty. The service is spotty/inconsistent, but when you have their attention they are very accommodating and a little silly with emphasizing their Italian accents.

Wonderful artichoke

By Womble422 |

We popped in here for lunch whilst visiting Little Italy I had a stuffed artichoke which was the nicest thing I think I’ve ever eaten out in an Italian restaurant Hubby had canneloni which he thought was lovely. We had 2 beers ($7 each) We sat outside. You must try it.

Loved this place in Little Italy

Loved this place in Little Italy 🇮🇹. They have a great breakfast and a define Cannoli. The atmosphere makes you feel like you’re sitting in Italy, looking out in NYC.

Awful place

18% of tips, pasta 3 of 5, prices are higher then normal, awful, dirty toilets without water and soap. I would strongly do not recommend this place...

Tourists Beware

By MJW@kiwi |

They gave us the hard sell to get us inside but once we were seated the service deteriorated. Examples of this is that we had to ask to be served on a couple of occasions. We ordered Hendricks G&T’s as a pre dinner drink but were given something completely different... we know our gin. Even worse was ordering a bottle of wine from the wine list ( Australian Shiraz) they bought out a bottle of South African Shiraz and hoped we wouldn’t notice!! Needless to say I sent it back even though they tried to convince us that it was better and more expensive. (Although it wasn’t on the wine list) Our main of seafood linguine was below average and bland! Cannot recommend this restaurant and suggest you avoid at all costs!! I think their business model is designed to rip off tourists- you have been warned!!

Overpriced average fayre

Went in here had a pizza each and some potatoes and one dessert between us. Dessert on menu had cream next to it in pic..mines didn't. My first Peroni came in a big glass. My second in a smaller one? Got charged the same for both. The food was average..but not great considering the bill. Including the usual NY Tax and an outrageous gratuity included in the bill of $18, took it to almost $140. Must be better places than this.

Spoilt our last night in NY

By Maria-Rose-82 |

First off, I can’t say anything bad about the food. It was nice. What let this place down massively was the attitude of the staff. It was our last night in New York and we wanted to go out for a nice dinner to finish our holiday off and my husband really wanted to visit Little Italy. We were approached by someone outside (which I don’t like, but we were hungry and the place looked nice) so decided to give it a go. As soon as we got in we were offered wine/sangria/beer, which we declined as we were flying home the next day and didn’t want to feel rough! You could tell they weren’t happy that we weren’t buying alcohol. We were then read the specials but decided to order from the menu, which again you could tell they weren’t happy about. Food was fine, like I said, but not one person cracked a smile the whole time we were there. Waiters were very blunt and grumpy and we felt like we were being a nuisance by being there! We finished our meals and wanted to leave so asked for the bill. Beware they add the tip to the bill (18%) so don’t get caught out and end up paying it twice.. We paid the bill (including the tip) and was asked “Do you need the change?” ! I said no. It was only another couple of $ and didn’t want to hang around in there. We got up and walked to the door. Not one thank you/goodbye as we left! Despite 3 or 4 waiters being right next to us. Everyone was just so rude. We are not used to that back home and it really spoilt our last night in New York and what was meant to be a lovely meal to finish our holiday.

GOOD

Refreshing drink break in Little Italy. Very lively neighborhood and lots of restaurants. Don't hesitate to say that you just want a drink. We will try to offer you something to eat a little later. But just refuse politely, they don't insist. Large glasses of cold water are offered, which is appreciated when it is hot.

Amazing, Amazing, Amazing

So wonderful. Amazing food. Welcomed us like family. Salvatore guided us in our menu selections and everything from appetizers to drinks to entrees to desserts could not have impressed us more. We had kids who loved it as much as the adults. Highly recommend for a true experience.

Not to recommend.

Not to recommend! Arrived and got seated, although a few tables were empty, at a table, which had on one side such a little space, that we could hardly squeeze ourselves in and on the other side the draft from the windowdoor was so strong and cold, that I had to put back on my wintercoat. As my son wanted to sit down, he realized, that on his seat was a big, sharp glass-shard! Later on, there was something floating in my coke, I had to give it back and after the personnel examined my glass, I got a new one. Finally I was eating my delicious Ceasar's salad, when I suddenly felt, that there was a hair in it! I couldn't finish it, had not even had a third of it. The waiter didn't ask, why I did not eat my meal, so I told him and showed him the hair. No excuses were to be heard! A shard, an object in the drink and a hair in the salad - and NO EXCUSES! So really, even if the customers are walk-in tourists, this is a no-go! Would not come back!
