“Best pizza in town”

By Heather L |

Just wanted some good New York pizza and this place hits the spot. Got margherita and Bianca pizza and both were amazing. While in there, cops came in to get pizza and claimed it the “best pizza in town,” so you know it has to be good. Definitely has the local neighborhood vibe where you imagine everyone local coming to get their pizza.

Family Trip - Dinner

By luv2travelmama |

Ever since my husband and I found this quaint place a few years ago, I have made a point to eat here any time I get back to NYC. As usual it did not disappoint. Love the ambiance and music. We ordered the spinach & cheese rice balls, formaggi pizza, and the pizza margherita with pepperoni and artichokes. My sister had the arugula salad which was huge. She said, if possible, she could have eaten another one it was so good. The house made sangria was great. Will definitely go back on my next trip!

Pizza Cooked The Old Fashion Way

By Rusty Turtle |

If you like pizza cooked in a wood burning oven then this is the place for you. The restaurant is on the small size, but the pizza wasn’t bad just a little pricey. The ingrediencies are fresh and the size of a small pie is enough to fill one person up. As for the service, the staff was great. They didn’t try to hurry you out the door and they were attentive.

An Absolute Gem

By texasjtr |

Recently, I visited NYC with my 12YO granddaughter. I wanted to her to get a real NYC pizza experience and Capizzi totally came through. Small, probably only a dozen tables, a wood fired pizza oven you can see from the dining area and courteous, friendly staff, I initially selected Capizzi because it was within walking distance of our hotel and seemed to have good reviews. So glad I did. The first night we ordered Pizza del Nonno. As soon as my granddaughter took a bite she said "I'm never eating pizza in Texas again". I agreed ! We ended up dining here three of our five nights in NYC (it's that good). The second visit, we added a Caprese Salad (delicious) and the third visit we treated ourselves to a Cannoli for desert. I totally recommend Capizzi for the atmosphere, the food and the service. (And have already done so for friends who will be visiting NYC next month). If there's a line, I'd recommend waiting because it moves quickly and the food is worth the wait.

Great taste, reviews suggest broader menu

By rcfromkc |

Chose based on reviews which suggested broader selection of food. We went with pizza and salad. Both had very fresh ingredients and tasted great. Basic margarita pizza is a great value. Add other ingredients or specialty pizza, and price more than doubles. Great for couples or small group. Seating limited for larger groups. Again, if your looking for authentic, fresh, healthy pizza options, its worth a visit. Wouldn't recommend for families with young kids.

Pizza with pre-cooked base, garnished and heated in the oven at an out-of-this-world price

By Paolo B |

After the marathon, my friend and I decided it was time to finally indulge in some pizza. Cozy place, adequate table service, but the product we ate is absolutely inadequate for the price paid ($23). It's unfortunate that you can find much better pizzas even by the slice at prices well below what you paid. The pizza had been garnished on a pre-cooked base because the temperature of the toppings and the dough was not typical of a freshly baked pizza.

Great pizzas in a nice place

By Jim T |

We stopped by early evening for dinner. We had three excellent wood-fired pizzas and enjoyed efficient and friendly service. The place is small and after we arrived some people had to wait a bit, but the pizzas also come out very fast so the tables turn around pretty quickly.

One of our favorite places in NY

By Luiza T |

During our week long trip to NY, we went to Capizzi twice: that is how much we enjoyed the place. The service is great, the team is helpful, efficient and welcoming. The food is amazing: we had the spinach arancinis and a couple of the pizzas - everything was tasteful and fresh. Delicious!

Cozy dinner

By Kimberly S |

True Italian pizza. A cozy place for wood fired pizzas -all kinds- anti pasti, and salads. Small place, cash only, short wait for family of 4 for dinner on a Sunday evening. Worth the stop.

Super friendly restores great food and top staff! 🇳🇱

By peetjerex |

Great dining tent, small scale with very neat and smooth service. Had a very nice pizza. The only downside, the street where it is located comes across a little less. But once you're inside, neat and well-kept tent.

Five friends, four pizzas

By William H |

Random find we walked up here from penn station. We ordered an appy and a couple bottles of wine. Then we started with a margarita pizza to judge the quality and authenticity. We had a winner so we ordered a loaded pizza, pizza #1, and another margarita with spek. I wish we wad bigger appetites so we could order more. All were fantastic. Then even though we were stuffed we tried the tiramisu, strawberry tiramisu, and a chocolate cannoli. All three were delectable. This is a very small quaint restaurant the atmosphere is perfect. The server was super sweet and helpful and allowed us to finish our wine after closing as the staff shut down the store. I would visit this store again if I am visiting New York.

Good masonry baked pizza located near several 8/9th street hotels

By Say it isn't so |

Considering the $1.50 a slice pizza joint across the street, $25 for a pizza (as good as it was) seemed to be pushing the price. Lovely location, really solid pizza baked in a masonry oven with maybe just a bit much of the char. Two glasses of wine, an fun artichoke appetizer with two pizzas set us back a hundred (not including tip). Was it good, yes. Was it a pizza epiphany? Not so much. I think for the financial investment, I was looking something mind blowing, I mean this is New York after all.

Top 5

By Gregg C |

Came here based on local recommendation and was not disappointed. I’ve been all over Italy to include Naples and honestly this pizza was in the top 5 of all pizzas I’ve ever had. Certainly the best in the US. I strongly recommend to give it a try. It’s small and busy but worth the time. I’m going back tomorrow

Nouvelle Italian in heart of Hell’s Kitchen in close proximity to Port Authority bus terminal

By Doris P |

Great ambience within the restaurant. This is not the greatest neighborhood but just arrived & wanted to eat before my NYC adventure. Loved the Sicilian lemonade so fresh and tart. I wanted the fennel orange salad but I was starving so opted for the individual sized margarita pizza with braised fennel. Thin crust & delicious. Could easily share pizza with friend making very reasonable price.

Okay, but not great

By Todd4trips |

This place was OK, but not great. Maybe I went on a bad day because all the reviews say this place is amazing. I’m going to give it another shot to give it a fair chance. Based on my experience though, the pizza was okay, it wasn’t terrible nor amazing. My onions weren’t fully cooked, and the pizza was very bready. Tasted like I was eating bread with some marinara sauce. The flavor was good though, just very bready.

Not authentic

By Abbey L |

Not an authentic Italian experience. I’ve been to Rome and Venice so know exactly what an authentic experience is and this was not it. Do not recommend.

Just like in Naples! Close your eyes and you're there!

By torpedo-dude |

We finally found the place the recreates most authentic wood-fired pizza from Italy. We lived in Naples, Italy for two years and after being back in the states for almost 10 years now, we had been unsuccessful UNTIL NOW trying to find the perfect Italian pizza experience. From the fennel salad to the fresh basil and imported buffalo mozzarella cheese that covered every delicious slice, THEIR PIZZAS CAN'T BE BEAT. A little more expensive than Italy, but worth every dollar. No wait and quaint dining room experience. Location didn't matter either...it's was all what was inside and it was terrific! Capizzi is now our on our to-do list everytime we come back to NYC now!

Authentic

By Peter C |

Authentic margarita pizza accompanied by lovely rocket ( arugula) salad. Moretti beer. Simple good & reasonably priced

Transferred to New York

By Jessica A |

Excellent meal, perfect wood oven pizza!! Small restaurant that runs quite well, fast and efficient service. The quality of the number 1 ingredients. Around ten tables in the restaurant, I love this type of restaurant.

Pizza worth a wait

By Charles |

Had a 15min wait for a table but it was worth it. Quality wood oven pies here and very friendly service. Not the cheapest pizza in NYC but still feel it was worth the money.

Absolutely Amazing Pizza

By Joe |

The service was amazing, and the Pizza was even better. It might be the best pizza I've ever had in my life. I will definitely be making a stop again the next time I visit NYC.

Great pizzas, great service!

By Andres |

One the best pizzas I’ve ever have.. Excellent service! I had the pepperoni and the Formaggi ones. Great choices! 5 star restaurant for me!

Capizzi: Only Salads & Pizza (Limited Menu)

By adventurer & foodie |

Me and a couple of clients went to Capizzi for lunch. I chose this restaurant because it’s a 13-minute walk from the Javits Center (where the annual Amazon Unboxed conference is held). The food was good but there was limited options. I ordered some tomato & mozzarella cheese salad as my meal. My colleagues ordered pizzas that they said tasted good. There were only 2 appetizer options: artichokes or a mozzarella cheese & prosciutto appetizer. There were some salads but no pasta, chicken, meat, or fish options (just pizza). Inside the restaurant was pretty with fake vines and fairy lights. There’s limited seating but you can make reservations on OpenTable. Warning: my Uber drivers’ GPS took me to the Port Authority bus station on a 2nd level. We then drove back down and found the restaurant on a lower level. I wouldn’t go back to this restaurant because of the limited menu, but if you’d order pizza, this could be a good option.

Great pizza

By Y2810HQsandram |

The food and service were excellent when we went to this pizza location. Service was timely and friendly. Our group enjoyed the taste and freshness of the pizza.

The best.

By Shelley W |

Staying at the Pod Times Square and this little gem is just down the street on 9th ave. First stop in NYC and daughter anxious to try New York Pizza. Did not disappoint. Had the margherita pizza and it was great. Will return.

Classic Pizza 🍕

By Blanca George |

New York City boasts a plethora of dining options, but this charming, intimate spot stands out for those seeking classic Italian cuisine. You'll find generous servings at prices that won't break the bank.

Great oven baked pizza’s and Cannoli.

By Beezztie |

Very nice and cosy restaurant at 9th Av and W 40 St. Great pizza’s, ready almost instantly, and Cannoli was heaven. Almost everyone who walked in had a table within 10-15 minutes so no need to reserve IMO. Highly recommended.

Certainly not Italian

By robilusi |

We stayed to eat a pizza attracted by the reviews and proximity to where we were at the time. Pizza without infamy and without glory. Price of 15 euros for a daisy For 15 euros eat an excellent focaccia from eataly or timeout, however with a beautiful view of the bridge of Brooklyn

The daisy is good.

By LoProvo |

You eat a good margherita pizza with digestible dough and good ingredients (tomato and mozzarella). For a small margherita (enough to feed you) we are around 16 dollars per person. I recommend it to Italians looking for decent food in NY without spending huge sums.

Only the name is Italian

By Marc M |

Pizza cold and placed on a metal plate. Really nothing extraordinary. Don’t hang around, waiters are on the lookout for anything you finish to remove it instantly. Finally, two cold double espressos! To flee

A traditional Italian

By Amanda H |

We each had a margarita pizza which was exceptionally delicious but a little too ‘thin’ for us. It didn’t keep us going for very long - we were heading off for a show on 126 2nd Avenue and then making our way back again. That said, we would recommend the service and call again but, perhaps, bolster the pizza by adding something else.

Great little Italian restaurant - hidden gem

By MamaThatch |

We are here at 5pm on a Saturday as it was close to our hotel after reading reviews on here. We arrived just in time as starting filling up v quickly and soon people were queuing. Delicious homemade tasty pizzas, and homemade lemonade. Only one waiter who was a little stretched until others arrived at 6pm, but it’s like eating in someone’s home. The atmosphere and decor are so cosy you don’t mind the waiting.

A good pizza

By Lucy S |

We had a nice family meal here, pizzas were good - not overly big but all fine for us Brits, tasty pizza oven baked! Nice servers and cosy restaurant.

Very poor pizza, absolutely to be avoided

By Andro78 |

The pizza has nothing to do with Neapolitan pizza. Poor quality ingredients, non-tasty dough, lack of crust. A huge disappointment, I have serious doubts about the authenticity of the other reviews here. Not recommended place for all Italians used to eating pizza in Italy.

Didn’t even get waited on

By Javier D |

Didn’t even get waited on very rude hot as hell in there told to wait outside till ready tables uneven

Delicious Pizza

By Fardad |

We really liked the Pizza, we tried pepperoni and also the spicy sausage. Both were excellent. Very Cousy restaurant with great service.

Thought I was back in Napoli

By KNic0le |

My friends and I have been to New York a million times. None of us had ever had traditional New York style pizza. Well we still haven’t. This is so much better than anything I ever expected. I wanted New York pizza but I got Naples it Sicily pizza. The foccia and Sicilian olive oil appetizer is absolutely delicious.

I ate the whole thing

By Melanie M |

This restaurant is down 9th Ave from the Pod Hotel Times Square so if you’re staying there you should walk down to get some great pizza. I ordered the Sicilian with roasted eggplant and no mozzarella. It was delicious. I ate the whole thing. Would definitely go back

Nona’s Kitchen

By Guy |

Stepping off of busy 9th Ave in Hell’s Kitchen is like visiting Nona’s kitchen. Step back in time, the best pizza we have had in NYC. Always a stop when in the City. The pizza crisp perfectly charred is heaven and the dessert pizza is almost beyond description. A guava pizza with sweet crust, delicious cheese and guava. As good as any cheesecake.

Skip it! Reviews are not accurate

By christianolson1972 |

We were staying close by and read the reviews so we decided to try it. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur. Service was inattentive. Pizza looks good in pictures but is bland when you actually taste it. Had to ask for red pepper several times before receiving it. Wasn’t worth the calories so we left half of the food. Nothing special. Tap water in bottle looked brown would not drink.

Fabulous pizza

By Susan |

Delicious pizza, small cute restaurant with very friendly staff. The waitress was super friendly and efficient and we had a lovely evening

Pizza-Scam and rude Service

By Thomas |

Unfortunately this restaurant is a disappointment. The pizza tasted good for what it was, but I didn't order this pizza and the service is a disaster. No friendly greeting, no smile. The waiter was actually very rude and when there was nothing to do he kept pacing back and forth or sitting at an empty table, making it feel like you were in a cheap snack bar. The biggest disappointment was actually the pizza itself. I had a truffle and mushroom pizza. But there was no sign of truffles and nothing to taste. Although truffles have a very strong aroma, I couldn't smell any of them. So I asked the waiter whether he just brought me a mushroom pizza or whether it was actually the truffle mushroom pizza. He simply said curtly that they don't use truffles for the pizza, only truffle oil. That in itself is a disgrace because it is not mentioned on the map. And at $25 it's way too expensive. I pointed out to him that you wouldn't notice the truffle oil either. He didn't answer at all, but simply walked away without saying a word. I would have expected that in such a case, a few more drops of oil would be poured over. I would definitely never go to this restaurant again and if the waiter is reading this, I would recommend him to be a bit friendlier and more service oriented so that he gives his guests a nice experience. Otherwise, he should apply to Pizza Hut.

Always great pizza

By EmilyandBill |

This is our first stop once we land in New York. This is a small, quaint restaurant with the fee of Italy. Do yourself a favor and try this pizza…you will not be disappointed. I will be dreaming of the prosciutto fungi pizza until we return.

Great pizza and beer

By AndriesVer |

Lovely little American Italian restaurant. The pizzas were delicious, the service was great and I'd be happy to return. Wood fired pizza oven, great quality ingredients. The only downside is that the restaurant is a bit dated.

Romantic dinner

By E.A |

Small Italian restaurant, authentic and tasty food although there is no pasta on the menu… Quiet and romantic stmosphere.

Great pizza and space!

By Alex V |

Great pizza and space! I had a great dinner of Barrata and veggies (exceptional!) margarita pizza and finished I also really enjoyed the cab sauv - small wine menu, but still tasty! with the tiramisu.

Pizza shop that serves nice wine!

By H2605MEliz |

We ate here prior to going to see the show, Moulin Rouge as it was close to the theatre. Very casual, typical pizza joint, but pizza is top notch and enjoyed having a glass of Chianti with it!

Great experience !

By Mariana F |

Small but cozy place, with great care for all customers. Pizza was fantastic. Of you are looking for a nice place around 9th street, this is a must ! And the cannoli… delicious !

Wow - amazing Italian restaurant

By Stewart W |

Recently visited new york and was looking for an italian pizza restaurant coose to where we were staying. Happened to stumble accross this and so glad we did, food was excellent and service second to none. Only down side is we found it on the last night and not the first otherwise would have been eating there most nights, planning a return trip and will definitely be returning.

Worst pizza, service - go elsewhere

By LoveSC2 |

Dingy, dirty, horrendously poor service. 10 tables, only half occupied and we were left w/o drinks or anyone asking us how we liked our meal. This is a cash only restaurant— something we did NOT know when we ordered! What century are we in? Pizza was pathetic, bland and uncooked. Can’t believe the previous reviews, which are what brought us to this hole. Our last night in Nyc and the biggest disappointment of our entire week. Please, please go elsewhere!

A hidden gem

By Wayne L |

We dropped in after the West Side Story matinee. My wife had somehow found this place in her internet research. What a wonderful find. The pizza is fantastic. Classic New York thin crust with an innovative selection of toppings -- ours included arugula. I had some to die for homemade sangria. Desert was a huge piece of strawberry tiramisu. Service was fantastic -- all in an atmosphere of eating in your Italian grandmother's kitchen.

Hoped it was as good as the first visit

By S C |

Unfortunately I was not as impressed with the pizza as I was during my first visit that brought me back the second night during a 2 night stay in NYC. This time though, the pizza was pretty average. A shame because I might try another place the next time that I visit NYC.

Glad we picked this pizza!

By h2ochild |

We had time to catch one taste of ny pizza, and we picked Capizzi! So glad we did! It was just past the lunch rush, and we had wonderful service. the small cozy restaurant gave us a nice seat to people watch, and we settled in. A Ny beer to go with our pizza, and I was all set. The pizza hit my happy place, and we were so glad we picked this place. Loved the family history, the love is for what they do still comes through. So many options, so little time, but I would definitely go back!

Authentic Italian Pizzeria

By Rhoda Vanderhart |

Small, quaint, authentic Italian pizzeria. I lived for a year in Rome and this place took me back there---from the delicious Arancini appetizer, the Insalate Carciofe, and the Pizza Margarita---everything was perfect. Good service. Great atmosphere. Delicious food.

authentic, local spot

By Lia T |

You could walk right by the quaint place and miss it. We had to wait about 10mins around 6pm oin a friday but others behind us waited longer (there's only about 10 tables). Staff were friendly and the oven pizza was delicious,

Authentic Brick Oven Pizza Just a Bit Off the Beaten Track

By moodymcsue |

9th Avenue has all of the good restaurants, just a few blocks away from the tourist traps of Times Square. Capizzi is just a bit south of where you might explore, if you were wandering 9th Avenue, but it's worth looking for. The pizza is thin-crusted and crisp, with a delicious balance of sauce, cheese and whatever toppings you choose. Personal (12-inch) pizzas are available for dine-in. Large pizza is take-out only. We enjoyed pizzas with pepperoni, spicy sausage, and mushrooms, along with an arugula salad which was big enough for 3 of us to share, with some left over. The service was excellent, and the chef was available at the open kitchen, to receive compliments after the meal. A great place for a casual and delicious meal.

Really lovely and delicious restaurant

By Mariette V |

Great pizza and starter with burrata and truffle oil. Really delicious. Lovely ambiance and the services was also good. Small and cute restaurant.

Still amazing

By EmilyandBill |

We love Capizzi so much. This is typically our first stop once we land in NYC. The pizza is amazing after so many years. The prosciutto funghi pizza is wonderful and the touch of fresh basil makes for perfection!

Great Pizza

By Born2Travel57 |

The restaurant is small. The service was friendly and fast. The pizza is great! The cannoli was outstanding one of the best that we had in New York.

Sunday evening meal

By airtrack |

We called on a rainy Sunday evening based on the trip advisor reviews posted previously. The restaurant has a couple of spare tables but they were soon people waiting to be seated as its a small place with only about 10 tables. The male waiter seated us and gave menus but didn't return for a drinks order so we had to catch the eye of the friendly female waitress who then served us. We all stuck with a pizza each and everyone one of us commented on how nice they were. The male waiter did return to ask if we wanted a dessert and when we asked for the menu, he just quickly barked 4 choices at us which we asked to be repeated. We didn't really get them 2nd time round either so we just declined... Their loss... We did leave a tip as the food was good and the waitress was nice... The waiter no so much... Anyway, more than happy to recommend based on taste

NYC Christmas

By suemck1 |

We loved this place! Took our two college aged kids for NYC trip. The pizza here was amazing, we ordered two types but had to order a third as we gobbled it down! The service was great and friendly. The cannoli was very good. It’s a quaint and charming place. It would be a great first date, proposal or anniversary date.

Great pizza and good prices

By Yarwinder |

Been a few times but last night got late and just wanted to bring back something to the hotel. Picked up a pizza and a chocolate canolli, great tasting. Well worth a a visit.

Fantastic Experience

By Micki5992 |

Our experience here was fabulous. We had the fennel salad and a Margherita Pizza with portabella mushrooms and spicy pepperoni. The salad was tasty, and the pizza was delicious! In addition, the workers were very amiable, kind, and attentive. We highly recommend visiting Capizzi.

A good real Italian pizza

By jcbolay |

I found Capizzi Pizza, walking close to Time Square. Small and very friendly Italian restaurant as you would find in Little Italy, with a nice traditional deco and an excellent service. For 22 dollars I ate a delicious pizza made as in Italy, good pasta and excellent products on it. The only bémol is that 12 dollars for a glass of Chianti, even if good Italian wine , is too much. So I would warmly recommend this place to eat in a friendly and calm environment . Good choice

Excellent

By Jerseybean26 |

Lovely restaurant, great service and superb pizza, the smallish restaurant is very popular so best to book. An oasis inside in stark contrast to the bustle outside!

Every time we’re in NYC!

By Wsaunde |

Love the salads, the flatbread with olive oil, and the margharita pizza!! We go every time we are in nyc! Get there on the early side or be ready to wait outside.

The ouvo pizza was great!

By Nmaxwell49 |

Came just to have the wood fired ouvo pizza and it was as good as I had hoped. The overall decor feels like you’re eating in a home. I’ll be back!

Great Pizza in a former butcher shop

By Ingozurich |

You’re looking for a great pizza within an authentic atmosphere with no frills? Then you’re right! Don’t await kind and charming waiters with Italien esprit! You come because of the pizza! Unfortunately you can’t do reservations neither online or by phone.

Excellent Pizza

By Leah725 |

Small little restaurant with quaint homey feeling! Truly enjoyed our meal...we are a family of 4 visiting New York with our kids and we wanted authentic pizza. This pizza is as good as what we have had in Italy. We ordered 4 different pizzas and all were amazing. We will visit again next time In NY...the only thing we were disappointed they were sold out of their olive oil it is top notch

Great atmosphere and better pizza

Small and cosy pizza place in Hells Kitchen area. Went there with family and we ordered some appetizers and all of us had pizzas. They were all very good and I would gladly like to try this one again.

Simple restaurant, super delicious pizza

Very good reception with a considerate and patient staff. Small room with a nice atmosphere. Excellent pizzas for a reasonable price for New York. This pizzeria works with fresh products with a wood fire cooking that brings out the aromas. Recommend it!

ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS

By D0l0resu |

My son and I accidentally found this little place on Sept 17/19. But it was on of the best pizzas I've eaten. The service was friendly. if you go and I suggest you should try the fennel salad and dessert go for the tiramisu. Next time I'm in NYC I will definitely be going back for more.

Service was shocking !

By matthewr_5959 |

On the surface, this is an ordinary Italian resturant, but once you go inside, it's different. Before I go any further, I ought to say that the food was reasonably OK, no more than that though. Moving on, the waiters were rude, it's probably as well that they ignore you, the vast majority of the time. The food we ordered was literally thrown onto our table. It was served on bent, dented tin plates, the serviettes were dirty washing up towels. I don't know whether they think this is trendy or not. Incidentally my wife, who was with me, is Italian. So she could understand everything that was being said by the staff.

Didnt believe my eyes

We wanted pizza without the bright lights and push and shove late evening and found this relaxed quaint cafe kitchen style place in Hell’s Kitchen. The pizza, wine, desserts were delicious and the atmosphere was just what we were looking for. Candlelight and casual friendly top -notch service.

Small space but we loved the atmosphere. We had great service and really awesome pizza! Try the dessert too.

Really excelllent pizza and great attitude

By Mark D |

Started badly as knocked over bottle of wine off the shelf when taking coat off to sit down. Manager was charming and friendly - more so than other customers - food was top quality. Would really rate this place very highly for both food and attitude.

Authentic place not to miss on 9th Ave.

By Carrie A |

Last nite in NYC and wanted a pizza, salad & wine to relax in our hotel room. Place was so cute now wish we had dined in. Owner was there and so nice. Pizza cooked right in front of us and got a bottle of wine to go. Perfect last nite in city.

Pizza Perfection

By Lovetofly33 |

Amazing little spot with a few tables and the most incredible service (I believe her name is Allison, forgive my bad memory)! We loved the family vibe and you could tell everything is homemade. We had the mixed antipasto which was huge and shared a couple of pizzas as well. The pizza was cooked to perfection, everything was fresh and delicious. My kids (9&12 yo) agreed it the best meal of our 4 day trip. Can’t wait to go back!

Personal Brick Oven Pizza in NYC

By hockeyaw19 |

We came here right at 5 on a Friday night and were the first people in the restaurant for dinner. We were promptly seated and ordered a pepperoni pizza and a broccoli rabe sausage. The pepperoni pizza was excellent - the sauce was perfect, the little pepperonis turned into bowls of delicious fatty juice and the crust was scrumptious. The broccoli sausage was pretty good and very cheesy - but the pepperoni won this match. Ambiance was pleasant as it's a rustic classic Italian style eatery with good service. With a little bottle of diet coke the bill came to around 60 bucks.

Not an italian pizza

By Little Sharon |

Nice italian good looking waitress ( she want to be an actress...good luck Carolina)but working alone with a bad manager and worst kitchen staff Pizza not italian at all

Best pizza in NYC

It was our last night in NYC and we wanted to dine close to our hotel. We walked here and were very lucky to get a table. We were so welcomed we felt like we were dining at a family home. Even though it was busy and people were waiting to get in we were not rushed to finish our stay. The food was delicious, highly recommend!

Yum. Yum. Yum.

By OnAir208618 |

Amazing food. Friendly service. Charming atmosphere. This was my second visit in 2024 and it did not disappoint. We had the truffle oil burrata and the prosciutto funghi pizza. Fresh, tasty and satisfying. We ate more than we should have but with zero regrets!

Great value and taste Pizza restaurant

By PremPod |

Looked for a pizza restaurant as one of our party leaving this afternoon. This was just around the corner and had a good rating. This is one of those hidden gems. Not the best part of Hell’s Kitchen and looks average from the outside. Slightly spit and sawdust inside but some really nice artefacts. This is a pizza restaurant (ie no meat dishes) and the pizzas are freshly made in a wood oven and were delicious. We were 5 and were going to share 2 but were recommended 3 and that was spot on. The waiter who I suspect is the owner was very friendly and the meal was very reasonable. Our daughter and her friend are about to do 4 months at Uni here and they will definitely be back - as will we. Worth a visit.

Good pizza and nice place

By antonino c |

Very good pizza. Nice welcoming place, friendly waiters. Price in line with New York where you can only find pizza by the slice in that area. Very friendly waitress from Palermo doesn't spoil the atmosphere

Very rich pizza and excellent service

By Carlos M |

The pizza very rich, the service was first class, I think we need to expand the menu a little to have more variety, especially adding pasta

The best traditional pizza in New York

By Ian J |

We were looking for dinner that wasn’t burgers or fried chicken. Capizzi was only a few doors from our apartment in NY so we thought we’d give it a go. What a find! Hands down the best traditional pizza we’ve ever eaten - top quality ingredients on a genuine pizza base, cooked in a wood-fired oven. It really doesn’t get any better. The staff were lovely and the speed of service was excellent. I cannot recommend this place highly enough.

Best Pizza in New York

By PotsieWeber |

Homey atmosphere, great service! Seems to be a family run establishment. Great sangria! Pizza was the best I have ever had in NYC. Yummy!!!

RIP off

By nicholasfrycp70 |

Average pizza at Michelin price. $300 for 5 pizzas and 2 bottles of cheap wine. Welcome to New York.

Best pizza in NYC

By Beppler |

The Marguerita is amazing, add pepperoni and onions and it gets more amazing. All the wines harmonize with the pizza, and the workers are always nice!

Great Pizzeria in New York

We were on August 12, 2025.pizza really good, light and with top ingredients. When we return to New York we will definitely be back.

HELLOOOO, again, NEW YORK

LOVED the way it felt from the moment I walked in, super impressed with the service and had delicious food. Hope to visit again sooooon!

A great find in NYC

By m p |

We were looking for decent pizza without all the fuss and not too doughy. Well here it is right across the street from the Port Authority. Small and cozy with full view of the oven and a simple, yet delicious menu. We have been there now quite a few times and it is always a solid meal with a non-rushed atmosphere. Try it.

Great Pizza

By TH06MAY |

Six of us dined here on our first night in NY. Thankfully we booked in advance - this little restaurant gets very busy so we were lucky to get our reserved table. The pizzas were delicious so we were all glad that we visited here. Generous free pour glasses of wine to accompany the food too which is always a nice touch. The staff were lovely and friendly - I was surprised to read negative reviews as our visit was faultless. Thank you!

Very good pizza!!

By JoachimCook |

Authentic place, very good waiters and top class pizza from a wood fired pizza oven. We will definitely be back, that sums up the experience! 🥇

Italian Pure Hospitality

If you want to eat a nice Pizza and be in a family style place then you cannot miss Capizzi. I suggest to visit this place for lunch or dinner and you will really enjoy a great time. Well done guys!

Delicious pizza!

By Rjoh12 |

This place is small and it gets quite busy very soon and with good reasons, they have the best pizza I have ever had! Highly recommend it! A must try if you are in New York!

Great little shop with amazing food

By DanL |

We were staying in a hotel right around the corner and it wasn’t too busy on a Thursday night around 6:00pm - but quickly filled up as we ate. The place is very small but quite romantic. The servers were great and the food and wine were fantastic! Would highly recommend this place and we hope to find our way back one day.

Doesn't appear to be open

By ImmigrantPunk |

We ordered online. A few minutes later we got an email saying they had cancelled our order, no explanation, and were refunding our payment. We tried phoning them, no answer. The next evening, we passed by and it was in darkness on a Saturday evening.

Authentic pizza

By Anna Z |

Excellent authentic Italian ( not Dominos) pizza- wood fired is always the best. Tiny place, pretty noisy but fun. It is located just across the street from the back of the Port Authority Bus Terminal so if you are walking over from 8th Ave DO NOT walk over on 41st, not pretty and a little scary.

Authentic and delicious

By FlyingCarpet64 |

Amazing pizza and super waiting staff. Only 10 tables with first come first served, so don’t leave it too late to taste authentic pizza and great vino!

Annoying spinning tin plates

By pgbDublin |

Very busy place. Tuesday at 18:45. It’s at the back of the bus terminal, near the overpass. Not the prettiest location. We got the only available table, in the window, just inside the door. We didn’t have a reservation and they don’t take same-evening reservations. As each table finished, it was quickly re-occupied. My Fully Loaded pizza was very tasty. Good base. But small by American standards, I felt. My companion's pizza was fine but expensive for a very basic tomato and basil pizza. Service was good. The pizzas came surprisingly quickly once ordered. Plates are removed as soon as you swallow the last bite. Both our pizzas got cold quite quickly. And we were not dawdling. I thought mine was only lukewarm when it arrived, though my companion's was hot. The pizzas are served on thin tin plates. Ours spun around as we tried to cut the pizza, which was very annoying.

Great pizza

By Steph H |

Myself & my husband didn’t know what we wanted to eat & saw this lovely buzzing place. Once inside the restaurant the smell of the food was lovely & the place was really busy. We had to wait 5 mins for a table, we both had different pizzas which were delish. The service was very good & friendly. We shared a Oreo cannoli for dessert which was lovely too. We would definitely come back to this restaurant when we return to NYC.

Delicious Pizza

By Mary Lynne C |

Based on good reviews, my husband and I made this our first meal in New York City during a recent trip. It is a very small restaurant and every table was filled. Thankfully I made reservations. Both of us ordered individual pizzas and we had enough for leftovers (yummy breakfasts!). Our server was great and the pizzas came quickly. I recommend this little spot for sure!

Nice Italien Restaurant

By Michaela K |

Really nice italien place, the staff was very nice and friendly and the pizza was yummy. We even got the sparking water for free.

Great pizza! High prices

By Vacationer10036nyc |

The pizza was among the best that I've had in NYC. The prices are high even for midtown. Convenient location to the theatre district but if you have time go to John's on Bleecker or to DUMBO.

Delicious pizza

By dands238 |

Stopped for lunch at about 1:30 pm on a Thursday. Not busy at all. The pizza was absolutely delicious. Server was friendly. Quaint atmosphere and cozy. The only drawback was that it was super hot in there. Possibly being early in the season the AC wasn’t turned on yet and there was a lot of heat from the pizza oven. Pizza was worth the heat though.

Authentic Italian pizza

By Aisling T |

We made a return to the city after CV19 and it was still absolutely delicious! Great spot for something quick and tasty before a show.

Homey and charming

By OnAir208618 |

Charming decor, friendly service, tasty tasty pizza and cannoli! Our first night in NYC and we were hungry after a day of travel. This resto was within walking distance of our hotel and looked reasonably busy inside (always a good sign). Lovely welcoming service from the server and busy but charming atmosphere with the warmth of the wood-fired oven in the background.

Amazing pizzas, try the tiramisu!!

By Jessica H |

The restaurant was full when we arrived but it was a short 10 minute wait for a table. We had the most delicious, fresh pizzas and a tiramisu. The service was great and the three waiting staff were all really lovely. It has such a nice atmosphere in there and I would definitely recommend!

Great place!!!

By Charlie P |

This is a gem of a restaurant. It’s a shame that the £ is so weak against the $ at the time we visited. We walked from our hotel on 36th West to the restaurant. We hadn’t booked but we’re lucky they they were able to fit the three of us in, it’s clearly popular and with good reason so booking is definitely advisable. I saw the staff have to turn away locals that were wanting to eat. We were allowed to go up and see the pizza oven while we waited for our food, which didn’t take long at all. All the staff were welcoming from start to finish. The Pizzas we had were AMAZING!, light bases and a great combination of flavours. We were pleased we went.

Great Hot Honey

By Néstor Vargas |

The Hot Honey pizza is delicious. Two of them are perfect for 3 people. It’s a very small place, but cozy. Staff is very friendly

Excellent pizza

By dbassi |

As per the title, pizza (margherita) very well cooked, they have a wood oven, and with excellent ingredients. It is not a Neapolitan pizza with a ledge to climb onto and undercooked in the center but much more Roman. The rest, appetizers and desserts to be reviewed. Very small place just outside the Manhattan casino with too many Italian touches :)

Nice evening meal

By IowaJim2015 |

The last time we were here we were disappointed in our pizza but wanted to try them again. They were busy but able to get a taller in short order. We had their arancini for an hors d’oeuvre which was very good to us but since we’ve never tried it before we didn’t know what to expect. The pizza this time was very good. Nice and hot right out of the oven with a light crust and just the right amount of sauce and cheese. The sangria was very good too. We were glad we gave them another try. They only had one waiter that night and he was run ragged but kept up with all the tables and did an excellent job.

Hudson Yards and US Open

By Kristin H |

This restaurant is simply amazing. Causal and excellent!! Arugula salad and margarita pizza with a glass of House wine. Special place- cheap and cheerful. Right near Port Authority. 31st and 9th ave.

Pretty

By Bea110 |

Very nice small restaurant, waiter speaks Spanish for me it is important, very good pizza I ordered prosciutto and arugula and my husband ordered pepperoni, mushrooms and onion very delicious. $20-22 per person each pizza.

NY Pizza

By rcsinclair21 |

I was missing NY Pizza and this place delivered. Really delicious wood oven pizza and the salad is great too. It is small place, so you might have a wait a few minutes during the busy times. All the options are good and i was happy with the service.

Delicious Pizza

By Brooklintraveler_12 |

We all enjoyed the delicious wood oven thin crust pizza. The service was good, the food was delicious and we only had to wait 5 minutes for a table.

Excellent

By CQI4ALL |

I had pizza here and down the street, both with brick oven style pizza. I think Capizzi had the better pizza, specifically crust/dough with the right amount of cooking/char.

Charged double for a solo dining experience

By Sabrina M |

A fellow theater patron told me I should try this place and it turned out to not be a great recommendation. The food and service itself was fine. I had the prosciutto and arugula pizza and a glass of red wine. The pizza was ok, not great, not terrible. I'm not sure what the rave is about with this place. Anyway. Paid, tipped and left for my evening show. Couple days later my credit card was charged double the price of the actual dinner. But not the exact double amount. It seemed so specific that it's hard to believe it was a mistake, as in, they accidentally ran the card twice. No. It seemed like they tacked on the extra amount they wanted thinking it wouldn't be noticed. Perhaps an "honest" mistake but I have a hard time believing so based on the amount charged. It just seemed like something they thought would slip through without me noticing. Thank goodness I had the original receipt and contested it in my favor with the credit card company but for obvious reasons this put a damper on the experience. Very disappointing.

New Yorks finest

By Crows Nest Johnny |

Not a lot to say really other than the pizza is as good as any pizza I have ever had. In fact it is better than any pizza I have had. Simple and wonderful. Was in NY for the week and ended up eating here 3 times. And it could have been more. Wood fired sweet crunchy base, spices and buffalo mozzarella. In heaven. This place is the best. To the owner well done. To the cook a bigger well done.

Good

By Voyager22499791788 |

The food and the service were so good and i really enjoyed being there. I will surely be back again. The waiters and waitress were very generous and welcoming and also polite. Next time I come I will surely tip the waiters.

Lovely

By Fraser |

Very good place to eat i had a lovely “loaded pizza” my dad also had a pizza it was a Fiorentina pizza and he says his was also lovely. A lovely place to eat near times square.

Best Pizza and Arugula salad with great service.

By dottopilot |

Our Arugula salad and the works pizza was delicious! The pizza crust was perfect. The crust was not soggy, greasy or burned. It was some of the best pizza I have had the pleasure to eat. I substituted the sausage and pepperoni for chicken and had it white sauce.

Just perfect

By Musicteacher85 |

We just loved this little spot on a recent trip to NYC. Everything we had was top notch. The service was friendly and the atmosphere perfect for a date night. Would definitely recommend to friends who are traveling to the area.

Amazing food and fun atmosphere!!

By RICHARD S |

The food was awesome, it was served hot and well prepared and presented. and the music The ambience of the place was fun, the Italian music and the decorations gave it an old world feel that was fun and exciting. The service as perfect, attentive enough to show concern for your well being but not over stated that you felt invaded We will definitely dine here when we are in New York.

Not much

By GheC70 |

Two families, seven seats in total because of the children and we automatically get a "party" surcharge because there were more than 6 of us (written in small print on the menu, they didn't warn us beforehand and in the other places they never applied it). Small pizzas and nothing exceptional, like the cannolj. High prices (margherita $15.95) but here in New York everything is very expensive for us Italians and that's okay. At least we didn't tip, God forbid. Calculate chr for every food you buy there is already a state tax

Pizza in New York

Craving for pizza after three weeks in America. Delicious Margherita pizza! Fast and courteous service. Well done guys, keep it up

Fantastic meal, with great service!

By Sean-OM |

We had a meal here on our final evening in NY. The staff were really friendly, helpful and super engaging. The food was amazing! Especially the pizzas! We had to leave early to get to ferry, but we stopped on the way back for their cannolis! They were so accommodating, thank you!

Hard to find but easy to eat

By eMVeeOz |

Loaded pizza and arugula salad...just beautiful. Capizzi is a hidden gem in the heart of NYC. We will be back before we leave.

Oven pizza ok

By venisonking |

I wouldn't go back here again since the pizza is pricey for what you get. The brick oven pizza was why we went here, but for the price it was disappointing considering you could go to 2 Bros Pizza across the street for a less expensive pizza that probably tasted the same.

Lovely atmosphere, good food and friendly staff

By sophie b |

We chose this restaurant as it was just around the corner from our hotel and it did not disappoint. We had a warm welcome and the staff were really friendly, the food was amazing and all the pizzas were cooked in an open kitchen in a wood fired oven. If you get the tiramisu it’s big enough to share! The atmosphere was really peaceful and a nice change from the busy streets.

Very good pizza

By YorkshireRam |

My 13yo chose this from Tripadvisor for our meal one night in NYC. We were both very happy with the pizza. The server was lovely. If I went back the only thing I’d do different would be to stick to a soft drink, as the glass of wine I had was pretty ordinary and very expensive. Recommended if you are in that part of NYC

Lovely evening

By Irina R |

I had a great time at the restaurant. The waitress was very attentive, the pizza was perfect, everything was very Italian. Good wine 👍🏽

Excellent Food and Service

By OrmosGadde |

We have nothing bad to say about Capizzi. The service was prompt and friendly. The food was delicious. The restaurant is small and when we were there, (Tues 6 pm-ish) it was filling up fast. 5% discount if you pay cash.

Good quality pizza, welcoming place.

By Maria Elena T |

Let me start by saying that I am Italian and therefore very demanding. The place is very welcoming, small but welcoming. We got three good quality pizzas, certainly not comparable to the best pizza in Italy. Considering that we are in New York, I can't give 5 stars but I would give 4 and a half stars. Prices are also in line with those of the city. Overall a very good experience.

What a find ….

By KazzaR45 |

Gorgeous small family restaurant. Great decor and relaxed vibe. Pizzas were stunning. The cannoli was just beyond amazing and I know tomorrow I’m going to be wishing I could have another portion. Lovely staff with great service. Keep doing what you are doing because it’s all awesome. Thank you for a great evening. Would definitely recommend booking if you can although people who waited outside appeared to manage a table after a wait. Well done guys on a great restaurant

A Disgusting, Inedible Mess

By valkyrieny |

Ordered a regular pizza for delivery. Ended up with a watery, soggy, undercooked mess topped with lumpy, waxy cheese. Might’ve been frozen beforehand. Called the manager twice, but instead of dealing with the matter, he ghosted us. Very unprofessional. 👎

Man o Man - this is the real stuff in Hell’s Kitchen

By Steve S |

Fantastic crust, spicey pepperoni, excellent price-performance. If you are looking for REAL NYC pizza, then this is the place! We hear it gets crowed, so we went 2pm on a Saturday for a late lunch and walked right in.

A decent stop to avoid tourist-trap mediocrity.

By Aimee K |

Service was friendly and fast. The menu had some nice choices, including an option for buffalo mozarella, good and abundant grated parm, and an excellent Montalpuciano by the glass. The chew on the crust was excellent, but otherwise a bit bland. I was excited to see grilled eggplant and carmelized fennel as topping choices, but the fennel needed more carmelizing and the eggplant needed seasoning. Overall a decent stop, and less touristy than other places nearby, but a little more salt and alot more garlic were in order.

Good experience

By Stéphane D |

Quiet restaurant excellent quality cuisine we ate pizzas very good dough and well garnished and taste tiramisu.

Lovely little restaurant in Hell’s Kitchen

By RLB963 |

Lovely Italian restaurant with very good pizza and finished with a cannoli Taste and quality super Not a very large menu, but pizzas as it should be according to Italian recipe.

Amazing pizza

By Charlotte E |

Went there after getting back late to NY for a quick pizza. I’ve had friendlier welcomes and ordering processes but by heck does this place make one absolutely amazing pizza. The choice of white wine is limited, in that there’s two and they were out of one of them. That aside, the food we had was absolutely brilliant and I’m someone who really likes good food. Order pizza and thou shalt be impressed.

Buonissima

By pags-21 |

My son and I were looking for a pizzeria on a Friday night and decided to get a recommendation from our hotel concierge....and we are so happy we did. The place is small and busy...but we were having an early dinner (5:30) managed to get a table. The service was great, pizza were great, food was prepared quick......all around great experience.

Disgusting waiter attitude

By Prince K |

Went to order a take out pizza on the evening of 29 July 2019 as a South African tourist (on the recommendation of eating with Ziggy). The waiter who attended to us was arrogant. Made us feel as if we were not supposed to be there. He was simply arrogant.. The pizza, however was excellent. Needs to make an attempt to treat foreigners with respect. Proudly South African and expect to be treated with dignity.

Perfect Pizza

By Jeciboy |

What a great gem of a place. This place makes you feel at home. We had pizza and were simply perfect. Light, crispy base and great taste of tomato and mozzarella. Heaven. The tiramisu was also very good, not to sweet or overwhelming. Totally recommend this place.

great pizza

By Mike G |

The piza was very very good and priced right also for New York. Loved the atmosphere with all the old antique things in it.

Good pizza, so-so service

By daniellY8658OT |

Okay, no issues being seated on a Saturday afternoon because we were seated right away. Had to wait a bit for the server to get back to us to order. Pizza came out in about 10-15 min. Pretty decent pizza, I ordered the Loaded pizza, wife got sausage and cheese. Good thing waiter gave us a pitcher of water to start because he was too busy eating and texting to bother with us much after that. Probably won’t be back ourselves but you might want to try it for a semi-quick dinner before a show or night out. Somewhat pricey for what you get though. 2 pizzas, water, canoli and we were at 50 bucks not including tip.

True Southern Italian pizza

By Vanya V |

The tomatoes come straight from Italy once a week! You can taste the sweet sunshine and it just makes this pizza astoundingly exceptional. We enjoyed every last morsel. If you are going to a show on or off Broadway, we recommend that you go early and start with dinner!
