Nice Place for Lunch

By M.J. |

Really delicious lunch! Service was great and the entire experience was lovely. My only suggestion is to make the drinks larger and a bit less expensive.

Private Party - AMAZING experience!

By Sarah H |

I recently booked a private party at CARLA for my sister's bachelorette & 30th birthday party. Michael, Javier, and the ENTIRE Carla team made this an amazing evening. They paid attention to all details requested, and were extremely attentive the entire night. Food was incredible and served buffet style. My sister has a severe dairy allergy and they really prioritized that and made alterations to make sure she could eat everything. Everything was absolutely wonderful and the customer service was top notch.

Beautiful decor, friendly staff, delicious food!

Beautiful decor, delicious food and great service! I had the kale quesadillas which had fresh avocado slices on top and delicious portobello mushrooms plus a lovely side salad. My daughter went for some comfort food and got the fish and chips. We went here on our 1st night of a one week stay and liked it so much we came here again on the last night and ordered the same meals! The staff were very friendly, the decor was beyond beautiful and the drinks delicious and generous pours—mean lime margarita! Highly recommend!

Nice Mexican food in the Theater District

By Andrew K |

My wife and I had a nice pre-theater dinner here on a weekday. My Margarita ($16) was more than decent, not 80% ice cubes as is often the case in Mexican restaurants. Our waiter warned us, me needing gluten-free, that the chips were not cooked in separate oil, so we ordered only the Roasted Pesto Cauliflower ($18) -- delicious, but needing more bite. We were only half-finished when we were served our mains, with no room on the table. The waiter pulled plates, and I ate fast. My wife's 3-piece Tinga de Pollo Taco ($23) was great, but skimpy, while my Malibu Shrimp Taco ($23) was overflowing with spiced cabbage -- so much so that my wife took half on her lonely plate. No way could my taco envelope the very tasty filling -- they need bigger tacos, or they need to double them. Then again, this was not a problem with my wife's tacos. Two Cafe con Leches ($5 each) were great. We would have ordered dessert, but they were not on the menu: our waiter offered Churros and a scoop of ice cream, so we passed. We might eat here again.

Great food, atmosphere and service!

We chose this restaurant because it is close to the Gershwin theater and because I liked the reviews. It is just great. The wait staff really want the customers to have a good experience. They are not pushy and are friendly and efficient. The food is very good, not fancy, but diverse and delicious. We arrived at 4:45 and got a great table by the large windows in front. As it got busier, the noise level increased as expected, but nothing like some of the other places we have been in Manhattan for dinner before a show. They had a robot that delivered churros to our table singing Happy Birthday to our granddaughter. She is going to be 13 and really enjoyed it! This place is a winner on all counts.

5*

We visited for a family dinner. The food was delicious (even the fussy 5 year old enjoyed his food). Our server, Oscar was great. He made such a fuss of the kids and was very friendly. Cocktails were also delicious.

Great Mexican food and Cocktails

By Marc J |

Visited Carla last week during our visit to New York from the UK. Very good location, just off 8th Avenue, and only a few blocks down from our hotel. We had intended to take advantage of the happy hour, but would have had to eat at the bar, so we ordered at our table as we went for dinner. There was a good choice of dishes, and my partner and I both had Mexican. Quesadillas for her, and surf and turf burrito for me, both dishes very good and reasonably priced. We had a beer with dinner, but then stayed on after for a cocktail. We had the Adult Capris Sun, and they were really good, and served in an oversized pouch with a straw. The total bill wasn't too much either, considering meal for two with drinks, and NY prices. The place had a great chilled vibe and the staff we met were very friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend, and will visit again next time were over in NYC.

Enjoyful dinner

The service was excellent, the team very kid friendly. It was our best food of the week, Mexican and salads. A very nice atmosphere.

TERRIBLE. AVOID THIS PLACE.

AVOID. Terrible staff, food, and ROACHES. The spring rolls were greasy and soggy. Some of the romaine lettuce in my salad was brown and slimy. They messed up our drinks and were so rude about it. To top it all off, we saw a cockroach scurry across the floor at the end of our meal. Do not go here.

Excellent pre-show choice!

Comfort food—New York style

By Ccari01 |

This restaurant offers a good selection of what I would call cosmopolitan American - a mixture of traditional and modern American comfort food,Mexican, Asian, New Orleans and even my husband’s favorite the English fish and chips. It is typically New York-diverse and exciting. The service was exceptional. We were welcomed like family by Dan and his team.

Margaritas & Empanadas

By adl |

Best and most affordable drinks in Manhattan. Do not miss the $10 freshly made margaritas between 4-7pm or the $5 Empanadas! Bartenders and servers are SO nice, and there was plenty of room on a Friday. Lovely decor, great food, friendly staff, and best margarita in Manhattan!

Friday night “where do you want to go for dinner” in a city of thousands of choices.

By Nancy S |

Friday night in NYC with the age old question of where to go for dinner. Literally picked the knife and fork symbol off the map and said here. And so very glad we did. Tucked away, Carla is the perfect NYC experience. Warmly greeted and sat we start ed with signature cocktails. The Hibiscus Margarita is the best. Roasted cauliflower salad with chicken and avocado while my daughter had a beef taco with melt in your mouth filling. Absolutely delicious. Kind of place I hope to come back to when we venture to New York again.
