Carnegie Deli, MSG

By John B |

Had a sandwich and beer at Carnegie Deli in MSG during a NY Knicks game. Went with the Pastrami. Just like the old Carnegie Deli. Big sandwich on rye. Came with mustard and pickles. Nice pastrami sandwich Also went with the 24 0z (!!) Bud in cans. Sandwich was $15 and so was the beer. I could have used a smaller beer, but that's what they had . Expensive, but it was in MSG, so a captive audience.

Fabulous diner, not to be missed

By Bevboy |

We visited this wonderful eatery whilst on a short trip to NYC with my son and his partner. Although very busy we were warmly welcomed and seated straight away. The menu is huge, impressive but reasonably priced. Our server, Lexi, was fantastic, offering great advice on what to order, along with polite good humour and a friendly disposition. Our food came promptly and was both generous in portion size and very well presented. It was pretty obvious by the constant flow of happy, smiling customers that this place has a well-earned reputation for providing great, inexpensive food in very pleasant surroundings with very attentive staff. Thank you Lexi for brightening our day.

Last breakfast in NYC

By Roger M |

There was a short line today but it moved quickly. Indoor and outside seating is available. Decorated for Fall with pumpkins everywhere. Quick service and no waiting for coffee refills. Had carmel waffles with fruit, and whipped cream. My wife has 2 eggs with side of hash browns and bagel. It is diagonally across the street from Carnegie Hall. How do you get to Carnegie Hall - walk.

Pretty Good

By Barbra S |

The breakfast food was pretty good - not the best deli food I've had in NY, but it was solid. We ordered eggs that came with a huge set of mixed greens - seemed a bit wasteful since most of the diners plates left it on there. The cheesecake was yummy. The avocado toast was bland. The Eggs Benedict were okay. Not bad, but not amazing either. We like PJ Bernstein's better.

Big Sandwich ... Small Booth .......

By Jerome G |

This rating could have been much higher had it not been for the seating arrangements. We (party of 2) came in for a late lunch, there were plenty of open booths. The receptionist seated us at a two top against the wall. We are both average size but we could barely get into the booth, our bodies hit the table top and our feet were tangled underneath. Also, no where to put my wife's purse or my small backpack. I asked a waiter if we could move as the couple next to us vacated a larger 4 top booth, he said sure. Well soon afterwards, Grumpy, the receptionist tells us to move because that is a booth for 4, duh, 2 people just left ! So he seats us at another 2 top with about 1 inch more space for each of us. The waiter did a fine job, our food; French toast, bacon and a pastrami sandwich were great, tasty, plentiful. However, you get one, small, maybe 1.5 oz bottle of maple syrup with the French toast, if you need more it is another $2.75. Come on now, how cheap can you get? Also, if you pay by credit card, add another 3%.

Great food, friendly atmosphere and enormous portions!!

A friendly welcome and a great place to sit and watch the world go by. The food is excellent, service is efficient without feeling rushed. We went several times and were always greeted cheerfully and looked after. The staff work really hard to keep everyone happy and it’s clear lots of people are regulars which is always a good sign.

Croissants at their finest

When in NYC we try to visit Carnegie Deli. The croissants are magnificent. I got the almond and my grandson the chocolate. My husband got the scrambled eggs - but he snitched a few bites of our croissants. Don’t miss them

Delicious Deli

Popular New York deli offering everything a NY should. I tried the corned beef Reuben and NY cheesecake. Crowded but worth every minute. Friendly and prompt service. Food was yummy and hit the spot oon a cold New York December day.

great sandwiches

By Ed K |

we saw the carnegie deli the last time we were at the garden but we already ate , so we have been waiting until the next concert . well we ate there sunday night and it didn't disappoint , the sandwich was piled high with juicy pastrami . we shared one sandwich , although i am sure i could have eaten one myself, just didn't want to feel full during the concert . i asked the sandwich if the corned beef or pastrami was better and he said pastrami , so we went with that , and it was great . we will be saving our appetite the next time we go to the garden so we can get our own sandwich . the station we went to was in section 204 . they were great employees .
