Attentive staff. Good food

By A_brit_in_US |

Staff very attentive. Had a booth where you can look out on the restaurant and the art. Food and drink very good.

Drinks only - did not eat

By NY-Spartan |

Went with a client for drinks. I know that bars can get busy, but the service was so slow. When we were finally served it was very pricey for the pour. Not impressed. Outdoor space is nice on Park Avenue but not that nice to offset the service and drink prices. Will give it a try when it's less crowded and see how it goes.

Not the same

By debiasi |

Too noisy, very expensive, the food is not the same as it was years ago. Terrible service. Will not return.

Average and very expensive

By Michael M |

Visited this place after a recommendation from our Hotel. The food was average, and so was the service. The sommelier was a bit too cold. The prices of wines were ridiculously high. I can never understand why restaurants make such a massive markup for wines which is a deterrent. Don't they want their customers to drink wine whilst dining? Am sure there are far better places to eat Italian in NY at a fraction of the price.

Good !!!

By Artigasboy |

Very good , Nice room , modern decor , perfect lighting, and most important delicious food , had the Bronzino and it was executed well , friendly service and reasonable prices for the overall experience. Will definitely come back !!

Very nice food, fabulous service

By Bharat R |

What stood out in this restaurant was not just the food, but how hard the entire staff worked to make our visit there wonderful. 5 of us from work -- a couple of us are vegetarian -- and not only did they have fine dining options, they even customized food for us. Not that I'd expect anything else, but the attitude was so polite and professional, that it truly didn't seem a bother. The wine selection was great and the food delicious -- I eat at nice restaurants almost every week, yet this service sticks out. I don't often leave 35% tips, but this time it was well justified!

Ok food, service fine but noisy and widely overpriced

By Fernando F |

Not on my favorites list... Casa Lever has nothing to be special. Good try on the ambience but far away for a top list restaurant while you call for dining experience at $ 200 each... Very noisy... OK food (not really outstanding at all... Specially the risotto I got)... Service is good but not enough to cover other gaps... Not to repeat.

Expense Account

By Lynn S |

Very good food and it should be considering the cost! This is definitely an expense account restaurant and would also be very good for a special occasion meal. The ambiance is lovely and the service is very attentive. The baby beet and goat cheese salad appetizer was very good and large enough for sharing. Ingredients are top of the line here.We had a fish special that was very tasty with a light sauce that didn't overwhelm the fish itself. The Yukon gold potatoes as a side dish were so good, you'll want to order some to go. The profiteroles we ordered for dessert did not disappoint. They were very light and made with fresh cream and a rich chocolate ice cream on the side. If you have the money, try Casa Lever at least once for the experience.

Expensive but definitely worth it!!!!

By Mary Victoria G |

The ambiance, the food, the service is tops! We loved the vitello tonato, risotto with white truffle, spaghetti margarita, sole and the great Napoleon like pastry. Wines are all good so you donot have to pick an expensive one to enjoy your evening.

Don't think we'll return.

By cather |

We went for restaurant week. They overcooked our steaks. Really not acceptable for such a high end place, regardless of what we were paying. And it's so dark in there you can't see how really beautiful the space is. A shame.

What a great looking place!

By bonbonturc |

We wanted to have some drinks after a long walk with friends and it was my wife's idea to revisit this NY gem. Does it get any better than this in terms of a great designed restaurant/bar? We sat at the bar and the service was great. At around 7pm on a weekend the bar stools were mostly taken. It is so nice and quiet to have some conversation. We only had cocktails and few appetizers. Manhattan's were great and both the hamburger sliders and the short rib sliders were huuuge. I would say they are regular Shake Shack size burgers and the fries were a hit with the girls. Nice, classy, NY.

Perfect meeting spot!

Exceptional service and food! Just bring your guests and you're all set -- breakfast, drinks or dinner.

Valentines Day

By Beachlover909 |

We were here yesterday for Valentines Day and we had a great experience. Service was excellent, very professional. Our dinner was late so they let us choose our own table and that's exactly what I like. Food was amazing and their recommendation on wine and drinks was very well worth. Elegant design, great restaurant, we will come back here!

Lack of customer service

By Zimbada |

I was there with friends from overseas, staying at the Waldorf=Astoria. I had told them in advance that we were going to dine at an excellent, renowned restaurant in the immediate vicinity next to their hotel, fir their convenience. As soon as we arrived to the restaurant, I realize that I was wrong 'already'. We received the coldest greeting ever. It happened that, at the moment we reached the counter where a hostess or a host should be manning the desk for the usual greeting and welcoming of patrons, no one was there. The hostess, in fact, was inside taking care of a party that has arrived just before us. That is fine and totally understandable. What I do not understand is why there is no one to 'work' the desk when the hostess is taking the guest to the table (unsure if she should be leaving the desk to do, or seating the guest is the task for someone else). Anyway, we were left standing near the 'welcome' desk with no welcome. It was a few minutes after 6:00PM, most of the personnel were standing visibly 'not doing anything yet'. Some looked at us and did not smile, one waitress chose to go the back as soon as she saw us. Finally, one of the staff members came to us and asked how many we were and if we had a reservation. I replied that "Yes, we have a reservation". He asked me "under what name", I gave him my name. He did not look for my name but directed us to follow one of the waitresses. On our way to the table, I saw the hostess who was returning to her desk. The meal is by far average. The service was ruined by a waitress (not assigned to our table) who was passing-by and whom my wife asked for a quick clarification regarding one item on the menu. Beside the fact that the waitress was chewing gum, she did give my wife the shortest most abrupt clarification without a trace of a smile. I quickly thanked her (faking that I understood and that I would explain to my wife) as I did not want my wife to get upset at the dinner table while we're having guests. Also, I notice that there were 'too many' staff members to serve our table. If the guys in light blue shirt are buss-boys, then our waiter (a female) had like four of them. Leaving the restaurant, we received no smiles and no Good Byes at all. The Maire D', (or possibly, the manager, tallest guy in the house) was standing at the Hostess counter, our luck, we miss her again as it happened when we arrived. The tall man (sorry, no one wears a name tag here!) did not seem to notice that four patrons have just finished dinner and are leaving. As a courtesy, I greeted him myself, on my way out. Obviously, I mentioned to him that I was shocked by the lack of Customer Service. His excuse for not greeting this party of four patrons is this "I was looking the other way". Go figure! Thank you for reading my review. Please skip Casa Lever. I know the area very well and I can tell you that, within a radius of 8 blocks, you have about a dozen of restaurants serving delicious Italian fare, while providing excellent Customer Service. Unlike Casa Lever, these restaurants would LOVE to see you (and express that) and would GREET YOU WARMLY and THANK YOU FOR YOUR VISIT when you leave. I was disappointed!

Nice lunch

By HanniHannover |

Classic Italian lunch in stylish setting. Very responsive service. The wine list is a bit random. Too much France for an Italian Restaurant.

Great Service

By Julie U |

Great collection of Andy Warhol paintings on the wall. We were told it was the owners collection (who knows if that is true). I started with the Casa Lever Salad. It has olives which I'm not a huge fan of but I still enjoyed the salad very much. For our entree I shared Bolognese with Spaghetti and the Dover Sole. Both were very good. For Dessert, I shared the Gianduia. Exceptional!!! The only negative was the red wine we ordered. It was a cheaper bottle priced at 157. They do have a nice wine list with many Sassicaia and Barbaresco. However- it was just my friend and I and we were not looking to spend $500-$1000 for two glasses of wine each. Sadly, we couldn't even finish our bottle because it was so bad. Either we have developed taste for finer wines or it was just a bad bottle. I wish I could remember the name.

Really Really good

By Ernest R |

My wife and adult sons went here last week for the first time. When we first showed up we went to the hostess out side. It was very noisy and we were concerned. Luckily our reservation was for inside. Unless you are going just for drinks make sure you are inside. We all loved our appetizers. Calamari was to die for, caprese was excellent and the boys both had cacio E Pepe which they LOVED. I had spaghetti vongole which is one my favorites and it was one of the best ever. My wife had the Dover Sole which she loved. She also Gelato which was really good. The boys and I shared a Profiterole which was delicious. Our server was Jovana and she we just attentive enough and was very helpful and describing the various dishes.

Amazing space for a restaurant with Warhol’s lining the walls along w very high ceilings! Amazing food and service! Old school glam and service!

Great food and vibe

By H Marque |

Prestigious address, amazing art, impeccable service and of course amazing food make this one of my favorite restaurants in NYC. Loved the new cocktail list...lunch was incredible with an assortment of appetizers and a dish of pasta for All.

Grand time!

By tiffany c |

Nothing short of GRAND! We had such an amazing time from start to finish. The staff truly went above and beyond. Service was impeccable and the food was excellent! My new favorite it spot. Checked all the boxes you must try. George truly made sure our every need was met.

Great Environment, Wonderful Food, Great Service

By Masayoperfume |

This restaurant is definitely a "go to" restaurant in NYC. Once you enter the restaurant, you are greeted by friendly elegant hostesses, and guided to your table. Glancing through the dimly (but not dark) restaurant, the collection of Andy Warhol portraits are visible to every eye. The sommelier recommended a wonderful red within our budget,as many are over $150, and two of three of us order steak, while the third order veal pail lard. The steak portions were ample, done with perfection, and the veal had the "wow" factor. The entire meal was artistically orchestrated, service was impeccable, cleanliness of bathrooms (my pet peeve) were clean and well stocked. A not miss if you are a lover of food, perfect service and Andy Warhol.

Nothing but spectacular!

By ReiseReiseCH |

It's one of the best restaurants we've ever been to! World class Italian food, charming and warm-hearted service, a Caprese, so tasteful, fresh and accompanied by a superb Mozzarella, then a homemade pasta that was so precisely al dente, and an insane Tiramisu to end the dinner. The coffee was from outer space, and, for whatever reason, we got an additional Panna Cotta dessert that was blowing our senses! The interior design offers an ambiente just as stunning as the food!

Beautiful food

By Ashleigh C |

We went to Casa Lever on our last night in New York and got the evening supper menu and wine pairing. Fresh salads to start, incredible risotto for a main and both the ice cream and hazelnut dessert were treats. The place is really cool and different. The staff were attentive and friendly and made you feel very welcome. Would highly recommend this as a great value place with excellent food and service.

Never go here!!!

By Michele D |

My family tried to stop into the garden bar area. BIG MISTAKE. It was pouring rain.....we thought we grab a drink while waiting for the rain to stop. A man walked up and said we'd have to leave our Starbucks cups outside of their roped area. We explained that we were ordering drinks and would not be drinking our tea. He wasn't having any part of it. He said he did not care. Our drinks would have to remain outside of their area. I won't be stopping by this location again during our trip. Does he really think we would risk our safety by leaving our drinks unattended.

The decor is cool. Food is well-prepared, but it was $80 for cod and 4 gnudi.

By Inverary09 |

I'm not sure I would've gone here if I had it to do over again. The service is good, and everyone is very attentive. The decor is fun - very Star Trek. The food IS good - but with tax & tip - it was $80 for a piece of cod and 1/2 order of gnudi (which is 4). It's a bit expensive for what I had, and I eat Italian food a lot. I should've eaten closer to the theaters which is always cheaper, but I wanted to be by my hotel I heard the have a theater menu later on from a friend who I met at the show - but they never offered me a theater menu. He might have been wrong (I do not see it on the website). They were very fast - so I got to the show way ahead of time. The bar area was packed. I wanted to eat there since I was alone, but around 5:30 it was totally packed and loud - so I just took a table.

After work spot, outdoors in the summer

By DownShore888 |

If you want to grab an outdoor drink after work, this place is ok. Nothing special and service can be slow at times.

The dinning room is very modern despite the classic and excellent italian food

By Mlopes502 |

Food is excellent and wine list amasing The dinning room is modern but the food is a classic italian food, very well prepared . Here you will find locals, businessman and no tourist Very good for lunch. It is located in a building with the same name . It is a secret and hard to finf

Go for the weekend deal

By Guildguy |

The weekend price fixed dinner is s great deal. Otherwise it is ridiculously expensive for what it is. Charging sky high prices doesn't make a restaurant an in place. The food is good and nicely presented, but not great. An eggplant app was cold. Entrees were over "sauced." Had the steak and chicken. Both good but nothing to write home about. Fortunately we ended the evening with good deserts. The parfitatoles. But 7 bucks for a small glass of mediocre iced tea... and another 7 for a refill, does not encourage one to return. Service was not on par for such an expensive restaurant. It's an ok NY restaurant that offers a good weekend deal. Otherwise, one can do better.

Recommended for sexy cocktails or weekend dinner

By Sarah |

The food is fabulous, the cocktails even fabulouser, the wine list is awesome. Unless you know when to go, the crowd is heavy on the Park-Ave suits. So, avoid the weekday lunch and dinner crowd, and go on the weekend -- they often have great bargain prix fixe dinners on Fri-Sun evenings.

Sophisticated 60’s vibe & great service

By cageynot |

This restaurant has a unique sophisticated 60’s atmosphere almost like going back in time to ‘Mad Men.’ It’s fancy in a great way. We also thought it looked like the Contemporary in Disney. Service was fantastic but not hovering. Great place for a breakfast business meeting! Bacon was extra crispy, potatoes delicious with a little vinegar on them, pastry basket was yummy, too.

Italian food in a non Italian setting

By mrhover |

The food is excellent, the prices are some of the highest in the city. Friday night still had a lot of open seats too. It's a cold atmosphere although the service was impeccable. It was more of a French style serving v Italian style (larger portions). It was Ok but to justify the superbly high prices, it needs to be amazing.

Fave place in the city!

By H Marque |

Best service and menu in the city. Of course the art/Warhols don’t hurt the atmosphere either! This is our “special occasion” restaurant. Perfect for small groups or a romantic dinner.

great dinner in NYC

By Pat T |

Enjoyed the evening from a superb meal, excellent service and a wide range of wines to choose from. Italian all the way - excellent ravioli!

Elegant Casual Friday Lunch

By Jim M |

Amazing menu and drinks for a lunch with friends living in New York. Beautiful restaurant and had a great table where we could catch up. Service was the best. I probably would not wear khakis next time but not treated badly. Pasta and Fish 2 course option was perfect and one of the best meals we had in NY.

Within Its Category, CL Gets an Average Rating at Best

By 347harveyh |

My wife and I had dinner at CL on a Thursday evening for a special occasion. We picked it because it is reputed to be among the city's top-tier restaurants. It did not meet our expectations. The space is classy and beautiful. Our waiter was a real professional. The food was great. So, why won't we return? The prices are stratospheric. The crowd is very noisy. There was delay and confusion at the welcome station which created a negative initial impression. Net, net, not a memorable evening. NYC has many expensive restaurants that leave this one in their dust.

Art for art sake

By ahomer1 |

Cool place with Warhol art to admire. Good service and nice amuse bouche and good bread . Huge pasta dishes that Brits might want to share between two. Good steak . Nice Italian cheese plate . Wine prices .....well this is Manhattan .....

Excellent Food, Service & Atmosphere

By Joe J |

My wife and I had lunch at Casa Lever and everything was simply outstanding. The food was perfect. From the three varieties of fresh baked bread they offered, to our salads, our appetizer, and our entrées, all were excellent. The staff was exceptionally friendly, attentive, and efficient. And this restaurant provides a very nice environment in the city. The high ceiling, open layout and art deco vibe, provide a sophisticated yet relaxing and comfortable retreat from the hubbub of the big city. This place is great and I highly recommend.

SURPSINGLY AVERAGE

By venamo |

Was expecting something special as great effort has gone into the restoration of Lever House, but the only thing that was special was the the prices which were at the New York side of high for an average italian fare.

Good quality food, service and nice place

By Alessandrohnyc |

Attentive and impressive service at the bar and in the main dining room. Decor is very nice - crisp, modern, elegant and comfortable. Food was good quality, from pasta to meat to the sides. Interesting cocktails and expansive wine list. Everything is pretty expensive, but as long as you know what you are signing up for this is a top spot for Italian food.

5 Stars in Everyway

By nscheuer |

Casa Lever is a Gem of a restaurant. Everything about it is Outstanding - Food, Menus, Service, Decor, Ambiance, Prices. Their Fri & Sat prix fixe menu is in a class of it's own. I doubt you can find a comparable prix fixe menu, anywhere in NYC, that can match it for variety of choices, presentation and delicious food preparation at such a reasonable price. I give it the highest recommendation possible.

Quintessential Upper-Crusty New York Dining

By Holly K |

Casa Lever; what can I say? It's as good as ever (see my review from March, 2016). It's quintessential, upper-crusty New York dining at its best. The food is wonderful. The service is spectacular. Even the bar is quite special. So, why not five stars? Ai yai yai; the noise level is just unbearable. We arrived at 1:30, a later lunch in hopes of escaping the booming, predominantly male voices that overtake the dining room. No such luck. Around 2:30, things finally started to quiet down and it was wonderful. Our table faced in, towards the back of the restaurant, with a full view of the wall of Warhol paintings. Guido, our waiter, was delightful. My risotto with Italian cheeses was over the moon. My lunch companion had the veal and tuna to start, then the skate wings. Both dishes were beautiful and he enjoyed them. Dessert for me was a delicious decaf espresso; for him the deconstructed tiramisu. It looked divine.

Lunch at Lever

By Maria D |

This gorgeous restaurant was a wonderful experience. Hidden away on 53rd Street you are pleasantly surprised by the stunning decor and delicious food. Prices are high but the food is well worth it. Soups and yummy bread a good choice for a quick lunch.

High Quality and Impeccable Service

By shozgirl |

We were there for restaurant week but with drinks and sides it still adds up. We were very pleased as the food was delicious, large portions and service perfect. Restaurant week is on in NYC so we had the prix fix special however they run in all year fri and sat evening from 5pm for $39 3 course. Will definitely take advantage. We had the caprese, the prosciutto, apps, the salmon, skirt take and pasta bolognese, and all three desserts...tiramisu, gelato (ten flavor homemade) and a choc cake ...all large shareable and very very good.

Favourite Place to Eat When in NYC!

By davidepTOR |

Have been many times and it's always a great experience for me. it has become my favourite place to eat when in NYC. The food is great, the service is great, the space is great. There are a lot of great options on the menu. I had the lentil soup for the appetizer and then the bolognese for the main followed by perhaps one of the best Tiramisu desserts ever. My colleague also raved about the Millefoglie dessert she had. I would say reservations are a very very good idea. The space is a nice size and has a great vibe to it, but it's not huge. There are some really cool booths. I like that there are also a lot of Italian-speaking staff on hand for an even better experience, but everyone speaks English too. It's a nice place, but I noticed many casually-dressed people during dinner - I would say smart casual to business casual rather than dress down jean type of place. This is not a cheap restaurant, but it's also not over the top. It's certainly worth it and of course I'll be back.

An institution!

By elissa s |

Lunch here was very good. Glad I went. I thought it was somewhat reasonable and the quality was excellent. The decor is awesome!

Overpriced mediocre cuisine.

By sailihua |

I had dinner there on June, 29 with my 3 friends. The design, atmosphere and service were very good. However, the food was a disappointment, especially the main courses. My Dover (sole) fish was tasteless and hardly warm, seemed like cooked yesterday, my friends’ veal was like a Weiner schnitzel, nothing special, and veal ossobuko was mediocre, with terrible tasting rice as a side. Definitely overpriced for such food. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant if you want to eat really something authentic Italian and tasty.

Excellent Italian Food in midtown Manhattan

By MikeBakerSydney |

Great food in a unique atmosphere. The food is excellent and the wine list exceptional. Service is great and the restaurant has one of the largest private Andy Warhol collections in the world. So much to lie about this swanky place.

Promoted!

By Alexis G |

High quality and quiet restaurant at the same time. High quality and well cooked. I would go back or better yet I will go back! Excellent service, a particular mention for the artichokes and parmesan. Also pleasant for aperitifs. The only dish we didn't eat was the pasta, otherwise it deserves an honorable mention

Food was beautifully prepared and served, service was excellent, and not too noisy!

By Marion T |

Our table of eight was too large to fir into one of the alcoves that lined the side, but we were comfortable and able to converse pretty easily. The Italian cuisine was refined and original, with delicious eggplant parmigiana that was more like a fine mousse with fresh slivered cheese on top and gnocchi made with ricotta and spinach. Risotto was pumpkin with some maple notes on top. Nice fresh berries and cream and more traditional desserts were shared because we couldn't eat more. Service was attentive but not imposing and the waiter had a great sense of humor.

Contemporary Art scene adds buzz to trattoria dining experience

By 777976 |

Lots of attractive people you know are in the the can-do mode. Both business and pleasure, don't they always merge in NYC? Makes for a hectic atmosphere, with service and food support everyone doing their best at what they do best. My business associate requires gluten-free and she asked for hot chocolate rather than coffee/tea. The server took gluten-free chocolate bits and had the kitchen use them to make hot chocolate. How cool is that? Taking a weird request and being resourceful to satisfy the customer.

Excellent food and great service

By EHM1977 |

Went for a dinner with a colleague. The food was good and the service was excellent too. The menu covers all the typical italian options. Would come back

Class Act

By whmurray |

My godson takes me to really great places. Casa Lever oozes class from the decor, to the service, to the food. A real treat. The design is unique and quite special; when you walk in you know you are in a special place. The portions were large and I asked for a box. Instead of bringing it to me at the table, they brought me a hat check; I picked it up on my way out. Not a big deal, but classy. I am old so I needed to use the rest rooms. My belief is that if you do not like the rest room, you will not like the kitchen. Eight unisex rest rooms in a row with an attendant. Classy. I am sorry I missed the kitchen.

Excellent Food charming staff

Little gem off Park Avenue part of Sant Ambroisa group which has restaurants up town and down town. Good pasta dishes. Love the decor of the room. Full of local business people. Must book. Highly recommended

Art & Gourmet Dining

Our second time here didn’t disappoint. Love the cocktail menu & we were having lunch so had some incredible pasta dishes & some appetizers. It’s always pleasant to dine underneath Warhols! One of my favorite restaurants in NYC.

Expensive Breakfast in a Sea of Expensive Choices

By ML W |

I have been to Casa Lever for summertime drinks outside private booth, I have stood shoulder to shoulder inside in the winter for drinks (service in both cases has always been excellent), but I have never swam the sea of gray suits to find my island of refuge to break my fast with other suited companions here. I had the spa item which was great and not as expensive as breakfast at the Ritz in London but reminded me of Norma's and other spots where I simply wonder how much better eggs, bacon, waffles, omelettes or fruit could be from one place to another. Maybe the chickens dine on tastier worms or the pigs eat truffles.....Nevertheless, an iconic spot with superb service at a price.

AMAZING!!

By Ricardo J |

Was there for New Year’s Eve. The place is great, with a great bar . The food was just amazing, the service was fantastic. The wine selection was incredible. It is not cheap but i don’t mind when all the stars align. Try the gnocchi with king crab (OMG!) and the osso buco . Will be back for sure .

Just looking at all the art in the restaurant is worth the tab. The place isn't cheap but it is adequate for location, food and setting.

Dining with Good Friends and Members of Their Extended Family

By PeterandJinx |

Our long time friends had invited us to the city to see Hamilton and this was a restaurant that they had frequented in the past. It was quite crowded but we had reservations -- a must on the weekend. It is an upscale, modern place with a wide variety of choices on the menu. The wine list did not have any of my favorite reds, but the sommelier knew them all and made a suggestion that turned out to be quite good. The wait staff was attentive, not quite European but they did not clear until all six of us were finished with each course. The espresso was lukewarm, another problem with most restaurants in the USA (they do not seem to understand that espresso comes after all the food has been eaten and it should come "hot").

Fun and delicious

By Great Pyrenees Lover |

Took a step back in time and dined at Casa Lever in the famous Lever House. Felt like I was having a business lunch with the crew from Mad Men. Terrific 60's style decor and architecture. And the food was terrific. Menu is prix fix and loaded with good options. Nice spot for business lunch. It does get a bit high volume. Nice energy. Good servers. Going back.

Great. And wildly expensive on this night.

By BodenseeAustria |

Business dinner (so level setting...I'm not paying) And I'm happy I wasn't. First, the food and wine were excellent, truly. A great fine-dining experience. They had a special "white truffle" menu, which our group ordered off of. Yikes, that was pricey. A poached egg with 5 stalks of asparagus (covered in a generous pile of delicious white truffle, shaved table side-- $90). The veal chop (again, excellent, smothered in white truffle, $170). The aged parmesan risotto-- don't even get me started. A fantastic dinner by any measure. I'm happy it was on the expense account or I would have been monumentally pissed off I didn't ask the prices on that little truffle menu before ordering.

Fabulous Atmosphere

By AXplat |

This restaurant has an exciting, New York, Mad Men atmosphere including Andy Warhol paintings. I ordered a craft jalapeno cocktail at the bar before dinner that was so delicious I had three! The dinner was good but not outstanding. As in all restaurants, certain entrees are better than others. We had fun guessing the subjects of the paintings and when the server heard us, she furnished a book listing details. I would definitely recommend a visit!

Delightful Evening

By Leslie S |

We chose this place because it was a great location and the menu looked wonderful and reasonably priced. We arrived for a ladies evening out and asked for a booth. Quiet enough for conversation and a fun view of the activity on the floor. We chose the three course menu, which for $42 was an incredible value. Wine selection was excellent and the food was delicious. Truly delicious. The eggplant, the hamachi and the salmon were all spectacular. The hamachi was particularly noteworthy. Save room for dessert. The berries were plentiful and fresh but the hazelnut torte was absolutely stunning. This was my sister's second trip to this restaurant and in a family of foodies, she knew we would be impressed. We were.

Lovely Evening!

By fayeCalgary |

Chose the restaurant close to our hotel, with good reviews. As we were here on the weekend - chose the weekend supper - GREAT value. Service was perfect - very professional, the 3 choices were all delicious & wine pairings perfect. Great venue - the warhol art a nice addition. We would highly recommend & will return.

A treat

Bathed in contemporary art, Casa Lever’s Mikhail and team maintain an elevated standard of warmth and personalized care. A treat.

Upper East Side Elegance

By DanDubya |

The Northern Italian cuisine is fantastic, the atmosphere is stunning & the service is friendly and efficient. The bar scene outside is where the who's who of the Upper East Side grab a cocktail after work. The Sant Ambreous team created another hit!

Great Meal Marred by a Poor Finish

By Christine W |

Went to Casa Lever with friends. Had a nice artichoke and rucola salad to start and the Orata special as a main course. The fish was cooked to perfection, deboned tableside and served with a buttery lemon, caper and shallot sauce that was divine. After the main course, instead of dessert we decided to have an after dinner drink. I asked for limoncello and was pleased to hear that even though it was not on the menu, they had it. We were served 4 limoncellos and while my husband and our friends’ limoncellos were a lovely slightly cloudy pale lemon yellow color, mine was a more egg yolk yellow with the look of syrup. I tasted mine and it was indeed too sweet and room temperature. I tasted my husband’s and it was chilled, tart, delicious and exactly what good limoncello should be. I immediately sent mine back and was given a new glass that was chilled and similar to theirs, but the waiter made no apology for the mistake and no adjustment was made to the bill. At a restaurant of this caliber one would expect superior quality from start to finish. And to try to sneak a substandard product to a customer is not just underhanded, but not smart given that it was so obvious as we all had the same thing. Left with literally a bad taste in my mouth.

Nice dinner With Friends ! The food was delicious I had a turkey with fois gras , sweet potato and pumpkin that was amazing and the Andy paintings are a scandal so beautiful !!!

Exceptional service and cuisine in a hip mid century-modern venue

By Jim Aiello |

Go a little early for lunch like I did today and you will get truly first rate service starting at the front door and carrying throughout the whole dining experience. My artichoke appetizer and Bolognese entree were as superb as the service. Highly recommend and will come again.

Service was friendly and attentive. Food portions were large and the food quality was good. They also had a nice wine list. I had a carbonara pasta dish that was rich and filling and my co-workers had a variety of other plates and all of us were satisfied. Each entree also came with a soup or salad and it was a lot of food!

Art and Aura

By H Marque |

Where do I begin? This is the art of restaurant that all should aspire to. From your opening greeting, cocktails, and on...everything was exquisite. Next time I must try the truffle menu. We decided to go with a tableful of apps for 3 couples & then entrees. My pasta with sea urchin & crab was sublime. Everyone's meals and desserts were spectacular as well. It was nice to speak with Antonio about the original Warhols that flank the walls. Hoping to return soon for my birthday!

Disappointing

By LarryRuth |

Much touted, this was a bit of a disappointment. The restaurant has a crowded feeling, with bad acoustics and high noise level. We came during restaurant week and felt that we were rushed so that a higher paying customer could be served. The service was efficient but somewhat brusque. Not worth the price.

sunset drinks in the city

By rehrom |

a fabulous place for an evening drink with a fun bubbly vibe. service was good, tables well distanced sat in the outdoor area which is perfect for a spring evening in the city. it was mostly business men in suits but thats expected given the time of day we went and the location. a very pleasant venue.

Wonderful Food in beautiful room

By RobGui |

Taking advantage of New York restaurant week, we went to this restaurant after hearing very good things about it. The room is really beautiful with a mid century decor and an incredible collection of Andy Warhol portraits on the walls. A very classic look. The food did not disappoint and the Restaurant Week menu was varied and interesting. I loved the amazing mozzarella in my starter. Great dining experience though note restaurant is noisy.

Excellent

By Parkcasa15 |

Popular well located mid-town restaurant and haunt of financial and art district. Lovely interior with Warhol prints. Friendly and solicitous staff. Delicious, unfussy food. Will return and happy to recommend.

Amazing space and wonderful food

By bbmf4 |

I had a business dinner during restaurant week with the three course price fixe menu with the wine pairing. All three courses were outstanding. Service was both friendly and professional and the architecture of the restaurant was wonderful

smooth and delicious

Best service recently experienced in a Manhattan restaurant - courteous and efficient. The food was terrific, every dish a delight. Definitely planning to return!

real good and beautiful Italian restaurant

By fededpr_11 |

traveling to the U.S. after weeks of eating mostly American food between fast food and impromptu picnics on the West Coast in our wandering around the wonderful national parks, we really needed to "go home" at least culinaryly. In New York I had booked the two most famous steak houses, delicious, but both me and my men (husband and two teenage children) wanted a plate of pasta, true, not pseudo Italian. Casa Lever welcomed us, pampered, fed and fully satisfied and the host, Antonio is really an exquisite person and who knows how to do. He even asked my youngest son what dish he was undecided on and his "I don't know if carbonara or cheese and pepper" brought them both to him, making the whole table happy, of course. Cool furnishings and quiet and chic clientele, you are just fine and you really eat Italian. Absolutely recommend.

Love the Art

By Sylvia315 |

What a lovely find in the city. We normally travel to NYC a few times a year and love every visit. We tend to continuously go to all of our favorite restaurants. This time we tried Casa Lever because of a recommendation by friends. What a lovely surprise! The restaurant was charming, the Warhols a huge plus and the food quite delicious! We enjoyed our server, the staff and the entire atmosphere. We will definitely be back next time we are in town.

Great choice Midtown excellent food and service

By Yogaholic |

went for dinner for Restaurant week and Casa Lever is the perfect midtown location. Stylish dining underneath the Warhol silkscreens in a lively setting was perfect for a frigid winter evening. nicel choices for the restaurant week menu; had the cod, cauliflower (vegan) soup to start and the selection of gelato/sorbetto for dessert made a delicious and filling meal. My friend had the pasta with short ribs and she said it was light and delicious. WOUld go back in a heartbeat. THe wine list is extensive yet expensive ranging from $16 a glass for wine and an $8,000 bottle. My only negative is there is a scent of cologne or aftershave that permeated as soon as i entered the restaurant. For people who are sensitive this may not be a plus.

Unremarkable Italian

By RMH1960 |

Weird booth compartments and entry-sort of Star Trek-like...was waiting for Kirk or Spock to appear. Some interesting Warhol art on one wall so you may or may not be positioned to notice it. Pleasant, attentive service but not outstanding by any means. First courses: thinly sliced artichoke salad-not particularly remarkable (raw artichoke slices?) with greens-fine, not a reorder. Other one was house salad which was good. Main course: veal milanese-very good, but accompanied by a repeat of the appetizer salad of sliced raw artichokes & greens-boring to repeat the exact same side-at least the waiter could have pointed it out to us. Other main was pappardelle with boar sauce-good. Wines available by the glass had mixed views: Barolo was good, Dolcetto was musty (bottle had been opened too long ago).House made(or bakery made) bread selection was good & fresh. Average prices. Curious as to how they can offer burrata without a buffalo roaming out back-but who knows, they may import buffalo milk. I can think of no particular reason to return.

Incredible ambiance, staff, cocktails

By Shireen |

Love Casa Lever. I’ve been meaning to return here for years because the space itself—the layout, art, and all the colour—transports you to somewhere else. The ambiance is simply gorgeous along with the very sophisticated crowd. My friend and I sat at the bar and both Lorenzo and Anna as well as all the other staff couldn’t have been more kind, professional and charming. Will definitely be returning for food soon—ideal for small groups. Thank you for an incredible evening.

Funky attitude

By SmithDrKat |

This place was recommend by a friend and upon arriving they were busy and offered us outdoor seating. It was a nice evening so we agreed and was seated and given water. We inquired about wine and a woman approached. The wine we chose was not by the glass and so we asked her if she knew the wines on the list and got offended. We wanted to ask for something close to what we liked and so we chose one from the list and she huffed off. After thinking about her attitude we decided to leave and go to Bella blu on Lexington where they appreciate your business.

Very good Italian cuisine

By Ferdinando C |

Restaurant 15 minutes from Times Square, polite and competent staff (the manager is Italian and so are the chefs). We ate with the family of 4 and I have to say that it was the best Italian dinner we had in New York. Fabulous chef Mauro, to be done again

On Point NYC Jewel

By ivyr60 |

OMG! The food and service was excellent! The food was superb! I mean when I say the food melted in your mouth! Smh... If you allowed it to go down too fast, you probably would choke. What a dinning experience! I haven't experience such a delightful meal in a long time.

Solid choice for a . mid-town business breakfast

By rnarisetti |

A large restaurant that can get pretty full on weekday breakfasts given its location, it has all the usual breakfast choices, friendly service and prices that are clearly aimed at expense accounts. And can get a bit noisy for private chats.

A Pleasure to Spend Money Here...

By Tony L |

New York is tough if you are not a native New Yorker or don't know a lot of people with good food sense in Manhattan. In most cities the quality of what you get in the more expensive restaurants is generally related to what you spend. I won't say it is a guarantee, but in general, if you are spending $100/person you are getting a pretty good meal in most cities. I don't know how many places I have been to in NYC where the bill was high and the experience and food were just mediocre. Not so with Casa Lever. Incredibly well situated in a Midtown block where there are not so many excellent restaurants - you are struck at first by how civilised the set up is, the collection of Warhol paintings, the open space. We arrived kind of early and a polite request for something quiet placed us at the far end of the hall, behind a huge oculus window, almost like private dining in a bubble. Appetizer carpaccio, salads, seafood were all excellent, the sommelier guided us to a modest Barolo-style red. If I want to be picky, the pappardelle al ragu cinghiale could have been done with a fattier cut of meat, to my taste it was a bit lean, but still flavourful. The veal cotolette ala Milanese split between two people after a ton of food was just big enough to be delightful - with room for a bite of dessert and a few biscotti to take home. Excellent service, very attentive and yet stayed out of the conversation rhythm such that we could enjoy ourselves completely. Even later when the back room filled with another 3 tables of 4 and 1 of 2, it was louder, but not overpowering. For Midtown and higher end, I felt the prices were not exorbitant.

Exhausting

By Holly K |

When it’s utterly impossible to hear what the person seated across the table from you, or your waiter, is saying because of the noise level, that’s a problem. All the great service, beautiful people, and fabulous food, and Casa Lever has all three, won’t make up for the fact that one can’t carry on a conversation whilst having dinner. The noise level and the commotion were exhausting, and I left with a headache. The food is delicious, but I want to be able to enjoy it over a conversation. That is, after all, the whole point of sharing a meal.

lovely lunch spot

i had lunch here in may. service was great, food was great, ambiance was fantastic. a really great spot for lunch.

Just wonderful

By EdwinHochberg |

One of our favorite restaurants in New York is the San Ambrouse on Madison Avenue. Recently we became aware that they had another restaurant called the Casa Lever, in the landmark building of the Lever House at 53rd and Park Avenue. When a restaurant first opened at this location we were there many times but forgot all about this location and were very pleased to find that they have opened this wonderful Italian restaurant as this location. In the past month and a half we have been there three times, each time with different friends who agreed this was a place to return to. With great food, outstanding service provided by Anna, beautiful setting and welcome management. Among the outstanding dishes we've had are: Beef Carpaccio,PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE,soup of the day, excellently prepared pastas,CUTELÈTA ALLA MILANESE, and etherial desserts. On weekends they have a $39 special – wow. This has become our go to fine dining restaurant – expensive but well worth it.

Expensive but worth It

By Gordon M |

For special occasion .Austin Powers probably ate here in 60's. Food is brilliant service excellent really liked the decor very quirky. If your looking for pizza or pasta this is not the place for you but if your looking for another side to "an" Italian this place is worth the try.

Book the Inside for the full Casa Lever experience

By Samiseal |

This is a terrific place to break up the shopping or have a business meeting, and that's what everyone here was doing. It is fixed price, $51 for two courses, but you have to add on for some things. The cottaletta is an extra $16, but it is worth it, very authentic, thin, moist on the inside and crisp on the outside. It is served with a little salad and lemon. We had a salads to start and the casa lever salad is extremely good, the burrata was very soft and the salad was inventive and fresh. There is a good wine list and the cocktails are extensive. All in all a good place for lunch, but you are not going to get out under $150-200 with a beverage or two.

Great experience

By Luca L |

As an Italian I can say that the dishes are really respectful of our tradition. Cheese and pepper well balanced. The Milanese cutlet, as well as being generous, is cooked to perfection. The bread is also remarkable. Impeccable Service.

Good food but loud

By frank k |

Had a business lunch there today with three clients. Food was good but the noise level was high - in no small part to bizarre thumping heavy bass music being played by the reatuarant. When you're packed with customers, why the thumping Sound overhead at lunch? Misplaced and pointless. Service was good. Not sure I would hold a business lunch there again.

Sorry to say...

By Diane O |

After reading reviews decided to go despite hearing that it was pricey and not that great. Basically experienced exactly that except had to dispute the bill after being charged $20 for water out of a pitcher and my daughters dinner that came after everyone was finished and wasn't taken off. Service was not on par with such an expensive restaurant. Wasn't that busy and although there were a lot of staff everywhere found myself having to flag down a waiter more than once. Ordered a pasta that sounded nice and light with fava beans, zucchini, snap peas etc but came very heavy and rich. Salmon was great. Cod disappointing.

Elegant Setting, Superb Cuisine

By pollytalknyc |

Another Birthday lunch given in this perfectly elegant place makes fine dining beyond what I expected. They have a 2 course and 3 course menu but the two course is really more than adequate because the portions are ample and the addition of herbs and tender veggies are melt in your mouth delicious. Of course, we had a chocolate dessert topped with birthday candle but dessert is a separate charge as is the coffee, tea or any libation. However, my host was gracious and I was exceedingly pleased to discover as we left the restaurant, that there is also a semi enclosed outside dining area which you might like to look into.

Fabulous

By Lolly’s Look |

A few friends decided to try casa lever for restaurant week. The interior is sleek and modern with And Warhol paintings on the walls. The restaurant week menu contains typical ala cart items at their full size. The wine list was excellent and our server recommended an excellent bottle for our table. There was a large selection for each course. The buffalo mozzarella and prosciutto was large enough for a meal. The beet salad was served warm with ricotta on the side. I ordered the skirt steak which was very tender and cooked perfectly. The salmon and chicken dish were enjoyed by my friends. We finished off the meal with coffee and the chocolate dessert, GIANDUIA. It was decadent and rich. The service was outstanding and attentive. It was a very enjoyable meal. We will be back.

Kitchen is good, but would go back only if someone else was paying.

By nxt20feet |

My friend and I wanted to give this place a try, as she is Italian and lives in NYC she is always out looking for good new Italian restaurants. It was suprising to see the not full on a weekend evening. If you are sitting as a couple the tables are very close (too close) to each other you can basically hear the conversations. I hate that. The quality of the food is very good - flavors and recipes are pretty authentic, although I don’t know who puts gaspacho and cantabric anchiovies on an Italian menu, as they are Spanish. The service felt a bit stressful, the waiter criticized us with a glance when we wanted to start our meal with pasta (we both noticed it and had a laugh) but which was odd for high-end service. All in all, the kitchen is good but would go back only if someone else was paying.

Always good

By Michael R |

I want to say that the food is always made with love but that isn't really it. The food is made more like a well meaning nanny, who does things with such precision and dedication, that it can easily be interpreted as love. Either way, it is fantastic- always.

Welcomed by Casa Lever

By Fernanda K |

It was around 10:00pm on a rainy December night and without much notice we requested if we could come for a quick dinner. "Open till 11:00pm" was the answer "and come quckly" How nice to be accomidated. The service was prompt and we ordered two pasta main courses. Spagetti Carbonara and pasta with short rib sauce. The carbonara has a strange soapy after taste which did not delight my husband. So we both chowed down on the pasta with short ribs which was plenty for two. It was delicious and worth a return trip. We were happy with the experience regardless of the one lackluster dish. The service was exceptional. Give Casa Lever a try and enjoy the interesting mid-century decor and the Andy Warhol art.

Power breakfast

Went for business breakfast, and this place is vibrant. Full of people. Impeccable service, and delicious choices. Excellent coffee.

A great experience

By Go100go |

I liked this restaurant immediately. The art is awesome and the atmosphere is relaxed. The food is really nice and the service was excellent.

A fine Italian in midtown.

By LakeviewLane |

Our hotel directed us to this restaurant and made the reservation. On arrival we were greeted like regulars. The food was top notch. A pasta starter and then veal. Both perfectly prepared and well presented. The sommelier was helpful and we enjoyed a lovely bottle of Brunelli. All in all a very nice evening. We will certainly return.

Great

By James R |

You know how many high-end NYC restaurants serve tiny portions for NYC Restaurant Week? Not so Casa Lever. Everything was full size and delicious. Service is outstanding, tons of servers milling around being helpful. Casa Lever is beautiful. Wine is very expensive however. Wines by the glass start at about $16. Two nice beers on tap though (I had the Bear Republic). Everything we had was either very good or fabulous. My skirt steak and my wife's dessert, Guindea (spelling?) were very good. Out two appetizers, Caprese Salad, Beet Salad, Samon and Tiramisiu were fabulous. The mozzarella in the Caprese Salad was the best that I have ever had, closer to burrata. The salmon dish is huge and one of the better Salmon's you will find. The Tiramisiu was hands down the best one ever - presented in a brandy snifter comprised largely of foam - words don't do it justice. Overall a great restaurant that would present a pricey splurge on non-Restaurant week times. For restaurant week you really cannot do any better. I understand that on Friday and Saturday evenings they oddly seem to have a three course prixe fixe at a great price, I will have to check that out.

Nice Italian, good food, great art on walls

By Wilton L |

A nice Italian, v good food, nice Warhol paintings on walls, friendly service, a bit high powered. Had a nice lunch, I can imagine it being a happening place at night with a warm atmosphere but a bit business approach.

Sytylish, quietly understated and excellent

By Parkcasa15 |

I really like this restaurant which is conveniently located in the financial Mid Town business district on 53rd street between Park and Madison. Very friendly and efficient staff, a fabulous buzzy atmosphere (not obviously too financials oriented), great surroundings with with walls crammed with Warhol portraits of famous people (a good game is guessing who they all are), and good sophisticated Italian food with hearty portions. I will certainly continue to return and have no hesitation in recommending.

Incredible experience!

Fabulous service and amazing food and drinks. The bolognese was probably the best we’ve ever had. We will definitely be back!

very nice but very pricey

By Steve G |

Very Nice restaurant Park and 53rd. Busy outdoor bar. Had dinner with clients. NOT CHEAP for what you get - On expenses but still.....Food OK - standard Italian Faye really...nothing WOW....wines extremely overpriced but a charming sommelier. Liked the overall vibe and Andy Warhol art but ultimately just over priced for what it is.

Great Italian with Surprisingly Great Art

By BHR49 |

This restaurant was recommended by our concierge at the Barclay when we were looking for dinner at 10PM on Friday night. Being in NYC it's easy to lose track of time and we ended up missing the dinner hours and finding ourselves hungry and not knowing where to go. Our concierge said they had great mid-range priced Italian food close by and called to get us in. We found Casa Lever easily and the atmosphere is wonderful. They have intimate half round booths and smaller tables throughout. The food is really good and prices are mid-range for New York. I had butter based pasta that was good comfort food and my daughter had spinach gnocchi that was incredible. Had it been earlier I would have gone for the chef's tasting menu of 3 courses for $39 - very reasonable. Wine pairing was another $35 I think. Coming form the Niagara region, we are used to chef's menu's of $85+ wine paring. But that was not the best part... When I asked our waitress, Francois, about he incredible 'Andy Warhol-esque' art across the walls, she informed us that it was the owners $64 Million dollar original Warhol art collection. It was incredible. Keith Haring, Judy Garland, Aretha Franklin, the Shah of Iran and more graced the walls of this small restaurant. It was more than most museums have and we were thrilled. Francois brought out a binder for us to read about the collection and it was such a nice surprise for our last night in NYC. We are definitely going back for the food - the tasting menu - and the art when our cameras are charged!

great meal

By robert a |

Great meal. Staff was outstanding. Loved the Warhols.Wine list is exceptional in all price ranges. Colum was very helpful. Will be back for sure.

Excellent food but noisy

By Kauaidudette |

Excellent food. Prices reflect New York COL $40 for a salmon entree. It was cooked to perfection. The bread that came with the dinner was also excellent. Service was a bit slow. We had to wave down a server any time we wanted anything. Restaurant has a buzz to it, and it is very very noisy. Do not plan on having intimate conversations.

Birthday dinner

By 1979Traveler |

I was taken here for my birthday. First time and loved it! They had a $42 weekend supper which included appetizer, main meal, and dessert. We had the eggplant parmigiana (pictured) as an appetizer, and also the fluke(pictured). Both delicious! Bolognese (pictured) and also the salmon as the main meals. Service was great, and drinks were fabulous!

It's not getting older, it's getting better!

By 12345rover |

Casa Lever is indeed getting better with age. I first came here several years ago when it first opened and prior to this week had not been here in over a year. It has matured into an excellent restaurant with a professional and friendly staff. It seems to have lost the over excited "in crowd" that is focused on the seeing and being seen. What is left is a top notch restaurant with a good buzz. The wine list is excellent - if not a bit pricey - and the wine manager knows his stuff. When it comes to its food it is well made interesting Italian dishes. They are not too heavy and the pasta combinations have unique ingredients. I particularly like their pasta with sea urchin. The entrees are well made too and have both some traditional favorites and original selections. This is a nice place to meet with business associates or friends. I will be back soon.

Fun in Small Doses

By TripperFiend |

Perfectly located in mid-town Manhattan, Casa Lever is a solid choice for an after work drinks or a business dinner. This place screams Mad Men and is indeed dominated by advertising and financial types. It certainly has a cool vibe although somewhat manufactured. The food is good and relatively standard fare; however, this place is about the scene and the people. It is fun, in small doses. The bar area is in the front and easy to meet people. The dining wait staff is professional but unenthusiastic.....they certainly want to turn the tables if you start your dinner on the early side. I would suggest coming in for a few expensive drinks, enjoy the scene and dine at another establishment that focuses on food. In the warmer months Casa Lever opens up a covered outdoor area that is great for afterwork drinks, it's more casual and very well run.

Top quality at ok pricing

By Boekelberg1971 |

Very solid Italian food from a straightforward and not too crazy menu with some of the usual classics but also fresh ideas (had minestrone and gnocchi with king crab). Decent wine list and very impressive setting with very impressive art.

Bar men very focused on cleaning...

By sklduff |

Ordered a scotch that they didn't have, upserved and charges for higher price. Doesn't seem right hence my average rating. If a place has extensive scotch listing and is out, should charge me for what I ordered. Oh well. Good music and atmosphere. Enjoyed the setting.

Great food in a retro ambiance

By bobbyripe |

We arrived midafternoon, so the restaurant was mostly empty. Wonderful 1960’s decor, quite well maintained; were informed it was designed by Andy Warhol. Food was very good: appetizers, pastas, main courses and desserts. We had a magnificent Pinot Noir from Oregon’s Willamette Valley. What made the difference was the outstanding service by all. Most enjoyable first meal on this visit to NYC.

Great food, nice place

By ioolie |

We dined here with 2 other couples on a recent weekend visit to NYC. We loved the atmosphere with all the Warhol silkscreens on the walls. Service was great. I had possibly the best linguini and clams of my life, and I have tried it in many restaurants since it is my favorite meal. Also had a green salad that was huge, fresh and delicious. My dining companions were also very pleased with their dinners. Absolutely recommend.

Great Food - Great Service

By Ted-620 |

This restaurant offers outstanding Italian food and the service ranks with the best in NYC. The wine list by the bottle is outstanding, although skewed towards Italian and expensive options. The wine list by the glass could be improved. Make a reservation - this location is often in high demand, even for breakfast.

Restaurant Week Find!

By Yorkiemom520 |

My friend and I dined at Casa Lever this evening. This was our first time dining here. There is an outdoor section but due to the heat we went around the corner to dine inside. Restaurant was crowded and very noisy. We were seated towards the back of the restaurant. We did not order drinks. The restaurant week menu had many items to choose from. My dining companion ordered the house salad, skate and tiramisu for dessert. I ordered the house salad, flounder and the tiramisu for dessert. The bread served here is delicious especially the olive bread. Our house salads were tremendous and very fresh. Our main courses were flavorful. The flounder was a smaller portion than I expected . The service here is extremely professional and they aim to please. The noise level lessened somewhat and I would recommend having a later dinner here.

Everyday is a great day

By MarkTAdams |

I have been coming to Casa Lever for nearly a month (outside drinks and dining exclusively) since The Waldorf Astoria - Peacock Resturant closed along with the hotel. I can say with all honesty and certainty that the same, sorry, if not better experience, staff wise inside Casa Lever, has been exceeded by the outside staff. They know guest by name and acknowledge them accordingly. Needless to say my lunch and dinner patronage will continue. Acknowledgements and compliments to: Alessio, Mirko, Sarah and Kara for a continued experience that exceeds my refined tastes. Mark Timothy

Lovely Evening

We enjoyed another lovely evening at Casa Lever. The food was delicious as was the wine. The service was wonderful. When we are in the city we enjoy visiting Casa Lever

Great food and service

By mercedesem |

We went during restaurant week, so I have not tried their regular menu. The food was outstanding - very creative and delicious! The portions were perfect for a three course meal. The gianduia dessert was amazing! I will definitely be back, and maybe check out the bar which looks like a great place to have a cocktail. The service was wonderful with very attentive waiters. And of course the décor was outstanding!

Fabulous Food and Atmosphere

By f8nbt |

Although it was the first time dining here I was welcomed as a regular. The dining room is perfectly appointed, the service impeccable and the food "5 Stars". If you are looking for a midtown restaurant with exceptional sevice, great food and want to be able to carry on a conversation without having to scream to be heard, this is the restaurant for you.

My New Favorite Restaurant

By JulesinAtl |

This was the perfect restaurant for dinner before the show. My husband and I took my mom here for a special night out. I had wanted to visit this place years ago, but haven't had a chance to get back to NYC for years. Was so glad to learn of their Weekend Supper, a great way to enjoy several courses for a great price. Our service was just the best. Our waitress was attentive and kind... and had several helpers that kept our drinks freshened and tended to our every need. The food was simply fantastic! Great steak, great salmon, great everything. If you're looking for a perfect night out, give Casa Lever a try. Oh wait!!! I forget to brag on the incredible decor! A mid-century-modern dream! They have over a dozen original Warhols!

Super Duper from a jaded New Yorker

By NewYorkBulldog |

I decided on Casa Lever as it seemed a great place to try for Restaurant Week. Extremely high prices, scaled down to a reasonable $42 for a 3 course meal. This place is a WOW. Loved the vibe as soon as we walked in - a happy place. Amazing art that will keep you guessing. The service was impeccable and charming. The food was well cooked, beautifully presented and tasted great. And the portions were large! The best meal ever? No, but taking into consideration the ambiance, price, service, etc. it comes pretty darn close. And the best news? Every Friday and Saturday night they offer the $42 meal!

Business Place to Be

By AJAX6965 |

Breakfast at Casa Lever is the place to be, if you ‘re a guy doing a deal. A throwback. That said, prompt attentive service and delicious food. The waiter asked all of us if we wanted eggs or egg whites. Excellent OJ. I mean, where did they get the oranges?

Small portions

By HaveCape_WillTravel |

It was a great way to enjoy the outdoors in midtown east. They served drinks in plastic cups/glasses at the bar but used real glass at the table. Drink from glass makes the drink taste that much more enjoyable! The dinner portions were quite small so it's great if you're on a diet:) I enjoyed my duck. (But not as good as the one I had at STK.) My friend enjoyed the salmon. My other friend was not at all happy with her spring chicken. The sides, asparagus and Brussel sprouts w/bacon, were good. For dessert, my favorite was the WAS A MILLEFOGLIE, then AFFOGATO, and then the warm cheesecake.

Pleasant atmosphere nice staff

By Evelynne G |

There were 6 of us seated at a nice round table Two of our friends had been before & suggested we meet there for dinner as they had been previously The menus was quite extensive but I felt like something light so I had the Flounder which was delicious. My husband ordered Fettuccine Bologness. His pasta was delicious & so was the meat sauce . We ordered a few desserts to share The Tiramasue was mostly Cream with no flavor

Was there recently for a business

By Graceroars |

Was there recently for a business dinner. Ordered a la carte. Had the gnocchi with king crab and Osso Buco. The pasta was to die for! The meat dish was nice but a bit salty, hence the deduction of one star. Service was gracious. Kept filling bread and water. Btw the olive bread was a focaccia based bread and we all agreed it was phenomenal. We had the tiramisu and choc dessert. I tasted the tiramisu— incredibly fresh and a different spin. Decor is stunning. I think they changed out the art works? See my pix. Midtown these days is rather sleepy as far as inventive or interesting food goes (most new good places are below 30th street or in Brooklyn). Casa L is a nice addition to midtown!

Very good but not SO good

By Matt M |

Went for a Restaurant Week dinner. At $42 for a three-course dinner, this is a great deal. I had the Casa Lever salad to start, then the bolognese, and finished with gelati. Everything tasted very good. I have no complaints with the food and if that was the only area to review, I'd probably be at 5. There were A LOT of staff members yet it always felt like I had to beg for attention. I was left without a menu for a long time so I carefully chose a drink THEN found out that I could have done a wine pairing instead (which I would have opted into). When it was time to go, I paid cash just to get out. Ordering off a set menu with a dining room only slightly more than 50% full should not mean it takes 90+ minutes to eat. It was a nice dinner, but could have been better.

Must go

By gmandc2014 |

If you like Italian food, you must go while in NYC. Antonio, the GM is a total pro. His gracious manner and service was outstanding. The risotto was executed perfectly. It was so good that I went back for lunch the next day and ate it again. The wine program is also fantastic. They know how to pour a great glass of wine at the proper temperature. All of the employees are engaging and friendly. They have hired well at this restaurant. I'll be back. Thank you, Antonio.

The place for a power breakfast

I am sure the other meals of the day are just as good as the breakfast. If you go for breakfast be prepared to see movers and shakers of the Big Apple. And be prepared for a very good breakfast with excellent service. Lovely banquettes along the sides of the restaurant offer privacy and a view of who's there. Enjoy!

Another superb meal

Being in NYC post-pandemic is an unsettling experience. So much has changed, but some things remain the same. Such is the case at Casa Lever, the Milanese restaurant in the iconic Lever building on Park Avenue in midtown. We essentially hunkered down with Milanese comfort food, cotoleta alla Milanese and osso buco. Complements to the kitchen and staff, can't wait to return.

Fabulous Italian cuisine

By Ann S |

Very refined Italian cuisine in a hushed atmosphere, perfect service and of course delicious food. Daily specials included fresh fish but we were here for the pasta!

Oh yes!

By que_cod |

Forget al bad reviews, is it an expensive restaurant, but is very elegant, is perfect for a fine dining and the food is gorgeous! We eat oso bucco and steak and some pasta, and all was from another world! We love the place, we love the food, we love the people! 5 from 5!

One of the BEST dining experiences!

By Brian N |

Friend and I were visiting NYCN for few days. We had just finished going through the Museum of Modern Art, and we were looking for place for dinner. We actually googled restaurants near us. After looking at a few, we decided to call Casa Lever and see if they had any openings. The person who answered said no problem--she took our name, and she said could seat us when we got there. What a find! When we got there, which was around 8:45, it was not crowded. But, the hostess seated us immediately. Incredible service--from the hostess, manager, and our waitress. The Warhols are authentic, so it's incredible to see all these portraits just displayed on the wall--I would have assumed they were reproductions. They can give you a book, which will identify everyone who is shown, if you don't already recognize them. We were told the owner has one of the largest Warhol collections. Very interesting. The style of the restaurant itself has a vintage vipe, which is a nice difference to all the trendy styles. Friend and I had already had a drink and appetizer before dinner, so we were not extremely hungry. We decided to share a appetizer, meal, and dessert, which made it a little more affordable also. We loved the Arrabbiata! The manager personally wanted to make sure about our wine, so we appreciated the time he took to talk with each of us and find a great glass of wine. We both thought we were extremely lucky to find such a place for dinner! I wouldn't miss it. Thanks for the special evening!

Mid century NYC meets Milan

I've always loved the iconic 1951 Lever House building on Park Avenue. The ground floor restaurant space has had many iterations over the years. The current one being my favorite. The interior is unlike any other restaurant space in the city. The colors and undulating shapes of the walls make it almost otherworldly. The bar glows. The food is solid, northern Italian. It is definitely a place to frequent if you're on an expense account. It ain't cheap, but imagine what the rent must be.

We liked our Casa experience

By ParkSloper |

Went for the first time with my DH for a special occasion during restaurant week. Some on TA have criticized smaller portions, mediocre service and average food, but we had the opposite experience. Lighting a little dark but liked the funky '70s decor and Andy on the walls. Our cocktails were a little pricey but very good--my DH said one of the best Manhattans he'd ever had. What restaurant has bread sticks you can rave about? These were crisp and spicy. I had the beef carpaccio and the beet tortelli for the entre; DH had the tomato/bufala app and skirt steak. All of this was quite good, but the coup de gras was the gianduia for dessert--decadant. I was surprised the portions were as large as they were for a restaurant week menu, and all our servers were excellent. Was this just because it's restaurant week? If so, get yourself there while it lasts for the next few weeks. My worst criticism is for the pushy, rude folk outside in the bar (it was packed) who wouldn't let me by.

For architecture fans in need of sustenance.

If you can tear yourself away from the surrounding architectural riches of the Seagram Building (Mies van der Rohe), The Raquet Club (McKim, Mead & White) and Lever House itself (SOM) try the Baccalá in Crosta di Patate, which was superb, and the Affogato.

A wonderful restaurant

By annfrancis2016 |

We had an early New Years Eve dinner at Casa Lever. Coming from a small warm island to New York city where it was freezing cold. the warmth of our reception made up for the weather. The staff were wonderful. and the food delicious and beautifully presented.

60's decor nice evening

By vasile123 |

We went there for restaurant week and enjoyed it. There is a space outside which was very noisy with those who came for happy hour and loud music. We went inside where we were seated in the back; it was quieter and we had a good view of the whole place, with the 60s vibe and the Wharhol paintings. You almost expected the characters from Mad Men to be there having dinner. The service was excellent. There is a choice of wine pairing for extra $35 and the sommelier explained the wines which was very interesting. The salad in the limited menu was with fresh ingredients but otherwise nothing to write home about. The skirt steak, on the other hand , was delicious. Same for the risotto. One of us had the skate fish wings and said they were good. The desserts were all delicious, we tried all three, each got one and shared. I'm sorry the most recommended dishes by the other reviewers were not available. Anyway, we had an excellent evening.

We Casa Lever-classy and delicious

A NYC Experience

By Holly K |

I met a business associate here for lunch. Walking into Casa Lever reminded me of the first time I was invited to dinner at a Harvard House, having spent the prior three years at an all girls' boarding school. Opening the door to the dining hall, I was nearly blown back by the boom of so many male voices. Nearly 40 years later, I got to relive that delightful experience. And that was at the front of the restaurant. Down in the dining room, it was even more intensely male and even more intensely booming. Luckily, we had made a late lunch reservation. By 2:00 p.m., the noise had begun to die down, as the captains of industry wandered back to their respective offices on Park Avenue. The decor is quintessential New York. The Warhols are wonderful, and eating a bit later gives you a chance to look around and take them all in, even the ones in the back, without looking as though you are checking out those captains of industry. The food is good, beautifully presented, and basic, not in a bad sense, but in the sense that the spinach is sautéed in garlic and EVOO. The tagliatelle with lamb ragu is simply that, not all gussied up so as to be unrecognizable or overwrought. The service by the waiters (and one waitress) in their pink or blue Oxford cloth shirts and bow ties, is impeccable. Best of all, unlike most other NYC restaurants, Casa Lever still has match boxes, a nice reminder of a lovely lunch next time I go to light the candles at our dinner table.

Solid but nothing over the top. Worth a trip to see the art.

By Mary K |

Dined with friends. Fun atmosphere. Food solid. Nothing over the top though for the experienced foodie. The egg appetizer was decent and memorable. My friend had cheese platter for dessert and he said it was very good. Wine pairings just ok. Art collection worth seeing. Wish the food was as interesting. Waiters attentive.

Party

It is nice located, good place for party, quite enough place for around 50-80 people. They are serving tasty food. Everything is in good atmosphere and good service too

Worth it for the Warhols

By SolangeI |

I visited Casa Lever for dinner last week for the first time. Loved the "TWA 70s terminal" style, including the tunnel like entrance into the restaurant. Absolutely loved the wall of Warhols, we had fun identifiying the people depicted by Warhol, a task made easier by the guide that is provided to guests who ask about the subjects in the prints. Casa is a classic, having been around long enough to merit this classification, newly interpreted with Italian offerings, which were all delicious. The restaurant is part of the Sant Ambroeus family, and their ingredients are fresh and their dishes well executed. Overall the experience was a good one, service was personable and attentive. We sampled several dishes, the milanese and the Hawaiian Tuna tartare were my favorites. Prices are steep, but in line with this type of NY restaurant. I would recommend and will visit again.

Watch out the un-priced Truffle menu !!!

By KyleWV |

I have been dining here for serval times now, the food has been consistently good, delicious actually. I knew for sure that it is pricey at Casa Lever, especially when it caters to the business people. However, without any indication on the seasonal "white truffle" menu, the end price was - outrageous !!! I had the crispy egg dish which is a poached egg with crispy crust over a few asparagus + white truffle was $90.00. I also had he veal chop with white truffle, turned out it cost $170.00. There's non any indication what the cost they might be.... I could only image some else paying for someone else's meal, and then it doesn't matter.

Nice evening, but prices are OBSCENELY high . . .

By rover28 |

Very chic space (used to be called "Lever House" restaurant since it is in the famous Lever House architectural landmark). Took a friend from out of town who has basically unlimited funds . . . and even she was shocked at the prices. Food was fine, service was fine, the Warhol prints on the walls are cool -- but, honestly, the prices are extortionate. Go and have fun -- but you have been warned.

Excellent food, service and atmosphere

By skoo |

Wow, what more could we want? We had an excellent 3 course fixed price meal that is available on Friday and Saturday evenings. The four of us had appetizers including melanzane alla parmigiana, salmon carpaccio and salad. Our main entrees included Scottish Salmon, roasted chicken and skirt steak. The desserts were beautiful and delicious too-tiramisu, gianduia and profiteroles. Service was excellent and we had a wonderful table to look at all the Andy Warhol portraits.

Good but should be great...

By Flavio B |

Casa Lever has an interesting menu and I have had very interesting appetizers but not as good entrees. Don't get me wrong, the food is super good, I have had recently the Veal Milanese and the Bacalao, they are good but I felt they were missing something. Despite that the polenta with calamari is great and the deserts too. Be ready to spend some cash as even the lunch menu is on the expensive side. The decoration is defiantly a plus with paintings of Andy Warhol on the walls

wonderful settingm great paintings, ok food, terrible service

By Louis G |

The decor is fantastic with walls lines with Andy Warhol paintings from the Lever House Collection. The food was adequate but very over priced. The service was pathetic, with the waiter bringing two wrong dishes, which is unacceptable in a very expensive restaurant.

Beginning to End Wonderful

By james |

Obviously, Casa Lever is highly rated, located in the iconic Lever House off Park Avenue, with a retro 60's interior, modern Warhol's, and a slew of comfortable banquettes. On weekends the restaurant is less full, and arriving at 6 PM, we were able to get a spacious corner booth. The food was from beginning to end wonderful, with the drinks and wines offered equally excellent. I would heartily recommend our menu choices. My spouse had the spinach ricotta gnocchi (GNUDI) and the pan-seared wild skate wing (RAZZA). I had the organic egg salad (CRISPY ORGANIC EGG), the baked eggplant (PARMIGIANA DI MELANZANE), and the osso bucco with saffron risotto (OSSOBUCO ALLA MILANESE). The service was excellent, and our conversations with the staff engaging. We had a wonderful time, and will return more regularly.

Friends have been recommending this restaurant to me, I came to try it, the taste is really good

By NanQing |

we ordered the seafood platter which included a whole lobster, two prawns 🍤, and a bunch of crab claws. The seafood was very fresh and sweet, and the lemon and cocktail sauce complemented its flavor perfectly. It was very appetizing.

Dinner after show

By Amblertraveler |

We had the 3 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The wine didn’t always make it out with the course which was disappointing. Pasta was fresh and at s good value. Hazelnut dessert was a hit.

Loved Casa Lever

By Patt4411 |

Four of us went during Restaurant week. It was fabulous. The design, the vibe, the food & drinks, and especially the service. High praise from one who will only eat at the Gramercy Tavern when visiting NY. If you know it you know it. Special regards to our waiter Esteban (sp?). They are starting a weekend menu priced similar to restaurant week but with many more choices. Go!

The art is stunning

By Peach4001 |

The food is delicious although very rich. The walls are lined with Andy Warhol paintings, which alone is worth the trip. The house made chocolate at the end of the meal was a nice touch. Save yourself for the desserts...

Dramatic, Delicious, Expensive

By Nancy R |

Casa Lever is a textbook classic, fabulous sophisticated urban expense-account Italian dining experience in New York. The modernity and uniqueness of the space and the fabulous food and service to match the prices. Every bite was delicious and luxurious. The duck breast is served with chunks of seared foie gras and is amazing. The wine list is great and the experience really fun. The clientele is high-end professional and beautiful as well.

Truly a wonderful experience.

By Jet585875 |

From being seated in a timely fashion, to the decor of the locale, the personal service, and the food was divine.

Good service but bland food.

By Kharro |

Was taken to this restaurant by some co-workers to celebrate a success. Nice decor and friendly staff. Tried the penne arabbiata - a dish difficult to get wrong. IT was very bland and without taste. No one was particularly happy with their food apart from the ones who tried the ham and mozzarella. Case Lever is an expensive place so I sure expected more. There are plenty restaurants serving better food in New York....

Good food, unprofessional staff

By dokodemo |

It is unfortunate that it was the maître d who tainted what would have been an otherwise lovely meal. We were a party of 3, so we used the empty fourth chair to place a (Louis Vuitton) purse and a Bloomingdales shopping bag. The maître d came over with a server and said quite audibly "this is not acceptable," and proceeded to pull the tablecloth over the bags so now the seat was a white lump. No doubt, this is a beautiful dining room, and that is one of the reasons a friend highly recommended we dine at Casa Lever. And I don't have a problem with a restaurant wanting to uphold certain standards of appearance. However, this should have been handled in a much more discrete, professional manner that did not cause us embarrassment and discomfort. Guests pass the coat check as they enter the dining room, so if the restaurant doesn't want diners to bring bags in, they should have coat check simply say "we would be delighted to hold those bags for you as unfortunately there will not be room in the dining room for them." I have been to many, many Michelin-starred restaurants around the world. This maître d obviously lacks training and understanding of how to make guests feel at home (unfortunate since the name of the restaurant is "casa"), instead choosing to approach his job with unnecessary snobbery. It didn't help that despite many banquettes being available, the maître d chose to seat us in the middle of the dining room next to the bussing station (we sat at 7:45 p.m. and very few guests were seated after us). Unfortunately I am used to this as I am Asian and youngish looking. Having run front of the house myself at a top restaurant back in the day, I understand the stereotypes that are followed in deciding where to seat people based on who you think will spend money and who you think won't complain when they are put in one of the less ideal tables in the house. The food here was good (we had hamachi crudo, artichokes, black truffle risotto special). It wasn't spectacular and I've certainly had better, more unique Italian food elsewhere. The wine selection was quite good. Our server was a lovely, friendly guy. Again, but for the unprofessionalism at the start of our meal, this restaurant would have been fine. But there are too many places in the city with better food and much better attitude to justify returning to Casa Lever.

Casa Lever

I’ve been hearing good things about this restaurant, and finally came for dinner. Good service, nice decor, and the food was very good. Casa Lever will be seeing more of us for sure!
