Another tourist trap

By A M |

Located in prime mid-town, Casa Limone joins the growing ranks of NYC tourist traps. The interior design is quirky and pleasing - in contrast to its service, whish is incompetent, slow and pretentios. We asked for sparkling water so the bus boys opened a bottle of flat. We mentioned that we wanted sparkling and they brought over a bottle. Then then proceeded to charge us for both. We ordered 5 cocktails - 1 arrived after 5 minutes and the rest came 25 minutes later. When I asked the waiter about the delay, he indignantly informed me that they were working on the drinks a "I'll check on the delay" would have been better . 4 cosmos in a half empty restaurand should not take a half hour. We placed our orders and 20 minutes later the food showed up. While the dishes were prepared well, they were not on par with their price tag. A relatively small hanburger for the youngest of our group cost $29. My pasta dish was $36. The recipes were not exactly authentic but they were made well. One of us chose the pre-fix option. Her dish and desert were much smaller than the rest. Check out the picture of two slices of cake - one was the pre-fix. Combine mediocre service with high prices and you have the stereotypical NYC tourist trap. If you are staying near by and want to pop in for a $20 cocktail just to see the decor, go ahead. If you want to have a real Italian food experience, there are many better choices only a few blocks away.

I do not recommend

By Livia L |

Food quite good, we ordered Pasta and Truffle Pizza. The pasta was worth its price but not the pizza. The service was unfortunately detestable, they threw the bill at us without even offering us desserts or coffee… too bad! The service is fast, hot but you are made clear that you have to leave your table. I will not recommend this restaurant in the future, tourist scam. Too bad because they have potential in the kitchen and a good location.

Italian cuisine in New York

Very beautiful restaurant, wonderful service! The food and quality of the products are top notch. Highly recommend!

Fabulous Italian restaurant

By MDale |

We visited yesterday for an anniversary meal. The decor and ambience are fabulous and the whole restaurant is incredibly stylish. The menu was great and we can recommend the meatballs and the chicken with capers. The lemon meringue is absolutely wonderful - but huge. Great service, lovely restaurant and great value for money compared with so many Manhattan restaurants. Highly recommended.

We will be back!

All food was excellent, but their brazino all grill was amazing, perfectly cooked, delicate and balanced.

Fantastic restaurant

By Ameena |

Had a great lunch at Casa Limone last week. Ambiance is beautiful...this is really just a stunning restaurant! Service is friendly. Food is excellent all around. I had a salad with shrimp and a side of roasted vegetables. Other members of our party had salmon, chicken, and seabass and everyone enjoyed their food. Prices are reasonable. We'll definitely return!

NOT FOR FOODIES - NEVER RETURNING

By lovethat |

CONS 1 CHEAP QUALITY WINES. First time ever in my life or my friend's life each of us did NOT want wine after the taste and these were two different wines (one red & one white). Wine quality was sub par & almost tasted tinny. 2-WAITERS NOT KNOWLEDGEABLE. Example 1 - head waiter told us Caesar salad would be made tableside - it was not. Example 2- I asked for description of two pastas and waitress says "one is saucier than the other" 3 - FOOD was mediocre. Massive disappointment. PROS Ambience Friendly waitstaff Location

Ridiculous. Expensive.

Perfect dining environment

By Joshua99California |

Casa Limone truly exceeded our expectations during "restaurant week." The $45 special menu offered an outstanding selection that catered to everyone's taste. The ambiance of the restaurant was just perfect for our group of four, allowing us to have meaningful conversations without any disturbances. My wife and I started with the mixed salad and salmon Crudo from the three course menu, and they were both delightful - delicious, perfectly prepared, and not overly dressed. The Branzino (fish), in particular, was a standout and reminded me of some of the best fish we had in Sicily. The accompanying vegetables served with the main dish were a delightful surprise - they were flawlessly cooked and seasoned, enhancing the overall dining experience. For dessert, we couldn't resist trying both the lemon meringue cake and the chocolate cake, and they were simply scrumptious, leaving us with a delightful finale to our meal. One aspect that stood out was the terrific service we received throughout our visit. The staff was attentive, accommodating, and made us feel truly valued as guests. The entire experience at Casa Limone was a true delight, and I can't wait to return for another memorable dining experience.

Christmas Eve Gift

By Jeffrey K |

We were stuck in NYC when our plane trip home was canceled by the big winter storm. On Christmas Eve we were by Rockefeller Center to see the tree. Hungry and a lot of places closed for Christmas we checked trip advisor and this place was number one in the area. They squeezed us in without a reservation on the coldest Xmas in NYC in 150 yrs. It did not disappoint. The homemade bread awesome. I had Eggplant Parmigiana big portion delicious, my wife had the raviolis and loved it. The kids had pizza and devoured it. But the highlight was dessert. We split the lemon meringue cake and chocolate mousse with brandy soaked cherries both were fantastic. Would highly recommend.

Great Italian food with big portions

By Finnish world traveler |

Delicious food, big sized portions, we had both pasta and pizza and both worked well. Service was great and surroundings nice (albeit a bit loud space).

Excellent restaurant

By Isa |

Great finding ! The service and people are perfect and very nice. We have been well treated and the food came up very fast. The staff is professional and very nice and the place is very nicely decorated and has a cosy mood! The food was good as well and we even had some good free appetizers with it and constant water filling! You should definitely go to this place!

Hard to describe how bad this restaurant is.

By KGMMJ |

This is the worst restaurant I have ever been to in my entire life. Service was unbelievably slow. The staff vibe was very weird ( they know the food is bad.) Pizza was cold with hard, stale cheese. Salad tasted like a bottle of white vinegar was dumped on it. Pasta was slimy. The (greyish looking) beef ragu was not edible. The mini dessert doughnuts were frightening. They were wrinkled and tasted so bad. We did not eat them. I still have ptsd from this experience AND the worst part is it’s expensive. Please don’t go. There are much better places in the theatre district.

Surprising

By Jav66 |

Visiting new york with my grown up daughter, eating anywhere is difficult as she's a very pocky eater. Trying to find something different than burger and fries and not too far from the rockerfella centre for our ice skating trip later that evening we discovered this restaurant with availability. From the pictures, it's actually even nicer inside. It wasn't maybe at first the best choice as the pasta dishes they had were not really to my daughters liking as again she's quite basic in choice and nothing basic about this restaurant. She ended up with a pizza. However the pizza and the pasta dish we had were lovely and clearly using good quality ingredients. The food that was coming out looked really nice and very well presented. Staff were really nice to and made my daughter feel special knowing it was her birthday. Deserts I would definitely recommend.

TOTAL DISAPPOINTMENT

By Francesco G |

A total disappointment. Convinced by these few positive reviews, we decided to have a dinner here. Cozy place. The first discordant note was that none of the waiters were Italian, making it immediately clear how the dinner would go. Normal food and a menu lacking in notable Italian offerings. When asked to speak to the chef we were told that Antonio Salvatore is never present. We are especially sorry because we had chosen this restaurant for its Lucanian origins, like ours. Italians is NOT a place for us!

Was enjoying.

Great food and service. Very friendly staff. My vongole was really delicious. Also good wines. Relax in the hectic city.

Well worth your time

Just a very pleasant experience: food was excellent; service was great; quiet, pleasant atmosphere. Absolutely would go here again.

Rude waiter

By Ghassan Z |

The restaurant is nice as a location . Food is ok but not worth the price . Waiter very rude in behavior.

Authentic Italian

By Karina F |

The food was amazing! We ended up eating there for brunch and dinner. Had such a delicious meal, we had to try dinner. The Burrata and Lobster Benedict was divine. The Margarita pizza was pretty good too. For dinner, had the Pulpo and Meatballs for the appetizer. Vongole and Ravioli for the primi. Highly recommend all of them. Servings are pretty good sized. We didn’t have room for the Secondi. Signature cocktails: Limone and Kir Italiano were really good. Wine selection was also excellent. Limoncello was perfect. Italian donuts and Cannolo were also great. It was like having a great meal in Positano, Taormina or Ortigia.

Superb Dining

Perfect ambience Friendliest and attentive Staff Appetizer, entre and desert were exceptional !!!! Best mothers day Brunch in the city.

Mediterranean Vibe

By SB |

This is a beautiful place and very nice decor, it doesn't feel like you are in New York City. You cannot go wrong with Italian food and Casa Limone does not disappoint. There custom made anti-bacterial wipes was a very nice touch at the end. Owners, Host and serving staff were very nice.

Won't be back.

By Anthony D |

Kind of shocked how many 4 and 5 star reviews of this place. I didn't know it and used these google reviews as my barometer. It wasn;t that great overall. Calamari was a bit fishy, Ribeye was thin and not high quality, Margarita Pizza was just a cheese pizza with basil leaves on it. We would not go back for the food unfortunately. I also didn;t like that we had a reservation and were placed downstairs across from kitchen, there is an entire nice dining room upstairs. The downstairs should really be for walk ins or people who request it. Finally, the service was decent. The waiter was very friendly but formal. Food came very fast, too fast for my liking, but at least it came with serving utensils which is missed at so many restaurants. They were also very generous on the wine pour.

Nice place for lunch

By StephenCross |

Casa Limone is a nice restaurant on 49th and 5th. Service good and food was tasty. Pizza was excellent. Service and ambiance good. Upstairs is well configured.

No Thanks

By tiziana g |

Nice place to see, but not if you are looking to eat authentic Italian food and know Italian food. Many more better and real options in this city! Burrata was a stiff non creamy nor oozy ball of pasta filata cheese, nothing like a burrata pugliese as they claim on the menu .And when I told them the answer I got , on the line of ‘we just buy it and serve it ‘ was simply conveying that they did not care of my comments . Had busiati trapanesi , those were ok as a pasta and tomato with eggplants. Maybe a little more ‘ricotta salata ‘ or a little salt would have given some more taste. Didn t attempt to ask for a dessert, just got it somewhere else.

Delightful lunch

This was the best meal we had during our recent visit to New York, and we dined at some pricey places. From drinks to bread service, to meal everything was wonderful. Service was excellent and the atmosphere was gorgeous!

Great Gem

By NYCenteroftheUniverse |

Casa Limone Nestled on 49th Street between 5th and Madison lies this little gem, Casa Limone. We’ve walked by so very often, and finally stopped in for dinner….. such a treat! The staff aims to please with their warm attentiveness. The Italian food is so simple, fresh and good. The menu is limited, but very well curated, with Italian favorites. We opted for Caesar salad and pizzas. Olives, focaccia and sun dried tomatoes are complimentary snacks with your beverages. Everything was so well prepared, fresh, homemade and authentic. The atmosphere is reminiscent of an upscale, warm (yet crisp) lovely Italian Villa. The atmosphere, food and service all hit the mark and we will be back to enjoy more of everything Casa Limone has to offer. Such a lovely dining experience!

LOVE YOU CASA LIMONE BUT.................

By lasinnyc |

can you find a way for the perfectly prepared food to hit the table HOT instead of cold? Love everything about you, but the service needs to be better coordinated because this was a problem on my last two visits and when I'm paying for it, I need my food to be HOT.

Fantastic find!

By Sally T |

This restaurant was recommended to us by the concierge team at our hotel as we were lacking reservations for some evenings during our Christmas holidays in NYC. We are so glad they did, what a lovely find! Literally a few minutes walk from our hotel, we received such a warm welcome. Such a lovely restaurant, with a relaxing atmosphere. Spotlessly clean and so nicely decorated. There were good vegetarian options. The staff went out of their way to accommodate our needs and the needs of our sons who are both autistic. The service was kind and attentive from all the team. We have to give a special mention to hostess Samantha and server Eduardo, who were both exceptional in their welcome and care of us at the restaurant. We liked it here so much, we actually cancelled reservations for other evenings in order to dine here once again. Thank you for the tasty meals and wonderful hospitality. We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend you and hope to see you all next time we are in New York.

Just Fine not great

By JHandler |

We had an okay uninspiring meal and friendly if trainee level service. We agreed a house pizza to start which was an oven baked pizza with cherry tomatoes and a burrata on top. It was fine but the burrata on top was frezzzing cold inside. I had the Casa Limone ravioli which was in a creamy vodka sauce and lacked punch, just fine not good or great. The side of roasted vegetables were over roasted, not very many green vegetables and were a stingy portion. My friend had the meatballs which he said were good. The other guest had the puttanesca which 1/2 was left. I can say the cannoli was delicious. The pistachio ice cream had not been kept at the correct temperature has was filled with icicles. The chocolate sauce was super. This could be a really good place but I don’t think there is a check in the kitchen. The service is friendly but tentative and I think the servers might not understand English. Hard to say

Worst customer service and lied to about table availability. Mediocre food. Sat at worst table in restaurant.

By Angela S |

Ruined our experience we had really looked forward to!! We made our reservation one week in advance 3/9 for 3/16 and upon arrival we were taken to the very back table on the lower floor (which the actual main restaurant is up on the second floor) which is the absolute worst table in the restaurant. Our family was on vacation, I spent a lot of time researching Italian restaurants so you can imagine my disappointment. I expressed my disappointment and the hostess and manager had a side chat right in front of us but he was not budging and the female hostess lied to us telling us the upstairs was completely full. I’m attaching a pic of my view from our table. I understand New York restaurants have tables that are not ideal, they use every space possible I know this. But the table we got should have been the last resort, last table to seat as you stare at a drink station and kitchen door constantly opening and I got a great view of the waiters eating behind the door when it opened. GROSS! When we had ordered and had appetizers, I had to see for myself the upstairs main dining area so I was livid to walk upstairs and see many many open available tables. My complaining did nothing. I wasn’t yelling or cursing I was letting the hostess know how incredibly disappointed I was in our table. They DID NOT CARE. They didn’t even comp a desert or anything and we spent $400 on dinner. Also FYI their rating is “pending” I noticed on the way out which is a warning because this is not a new restaurant. The food was good not incredible and I would NEVER recommend or go back. More than anything as an Italian myself I couldn’t believe their carelessness to make their customers happy. That goes against every grain in a good Italian’s DNA. Had it not been a Saturday night on a busy St Patrick’s Day weekend we would have walked out. I really wish we had.

The best meal we had in New York AND outstanding service!!!

By gary v |

Well, this was a real find!!! An excellent Italian restaurant. We went for lunch and had the Burrata Pugliese (OMG!!! wonderful) to start, then my wife had the Pizza Calabrese and I had the spaghetti aglio e oglio...both prepared perfectly and delicious!!! We also had glasses of the Hahn Chardonnay, the Nero d'Avola and the Montepulciano di Abruzzo...all very nice and fairly priced. Cudos to the wine buyer! They brought a BEAUTIFUL dish of gelato con profiterol to celebrate my wife's birthday. That was very nice and we sincerely appreciated it. Lastly I want to recognize Mangesh (manager) and Ariadna (wait staff) for BOTH being so kind and attentive. We only wish the restaurant was in Los Angeles so we could go there every day. We will definitely return on every trip to New York!!!

Exquisite southern Italy in Manhattan

By ddeckerdds |

Celebrated our 35th anniversary here. Read about it in the New York Times food section this week. Incredibly wonderful experience. Thoughtful well prepared food from southern Italy. Had a nice conversation with the chef, Salvatore, Michelin starred for his restaurant in Monte Carlo. My wife had the beautiful filet mignon, perfectly prepared, and I want the casual direction and had a beautiful Calabria and pizza. I was planning on taking part of it home but I ate the whole thing! We shared a big beautiful Vitello di Tonnato to start—Every bit as good as any I have had in Italy! And I’ve been there 14 times. They have an extensive and reasonably priced wine list. We had a Primitivo di Manduria from Apulia. Delicious! Finished it with Italian “donuts” with vanilla Bean gelato and a wonderful chocolate sauce. The service was excellent and really enjoy talking to the sommelier,Alex. Can’t wait to go back next time we’re in NYC.

Fabulous experience at Casa Limone

By John K |

Marvelous place tucked away on 49th St. The service was excellent and food positively outstanding. Greeters take your jackets and you're seated promptly. Courtesy rules among the wait staff. We had some of the best dishes we've ever had. The Tartufata pizza was probably the best pizza any of us had ever tasted. The Melanzana Parmigiana was excellent as was the Apappardelle. The other home run was, if you like truffles, the Pasta Tartufata. Highly recommended

It was okay

I came with a group and it was fine. My food (meatballs) were fine (but but not very filling) but others in the group felt less positive about their meals
