We had a wonderful experience. Food and service were on point. We enjoyed all the dishes. Started with delicious baby artichokes and the innovative potato chip omelette which was enhanced by the addition of caviar. We shared the bouillabaisse and the rotisserie chicken. Both were delicious and were generous portions. The bread on the table was a satisfying warm loaf of goodness. Our waiter was knowledgeable and attentive. We keep getting checked on by what I assume was the manager who made sure we were happy with everything and was pleasant to chat with. He gave us a brief and interesting history of the restaurant. I look forward to a return visit.

We ate at a semi-circle banquet in the bar area, unable to get a reservation in the main dining room. What a treat! We were able to see every person that came into the restaurant and felt like we were seated on the runway of a funky NYC fashion show! We loved the view. Since it was restaurant week, we opted for the 3-course prix fixe dinner. The service was great until we waited quite a while for our entrees to arrive. It seemed a bit off since everything else moved along at a good pace. We did end up ordering another bottle of wine while we waited so our bill was pretty high. The food was excellent. We did saunter to the main dining room to take a look- it is a stunning spot, but we were happy with our spacious spot in the bar.

Quite unfortunate turn for our evening. Nearly first table seated but 1h15mn to get our first dish served totally destroyed our mood and evening plans - guessed ? Halloween. No matter how courteous, insistent and finally irate we were, nothing made the dysfunctional kitchen improve. Food was very erratic (half the dishes excellent, the other half too salty), it was just not their day, we hope. Treated as if everything was fine was not fine, won't go back this century...

It was our first visit and we really liked the food and the ambiance of the restaurant. We ordered octopus, dates as a started and then shared a porterhouse. They were very delicious.

Our party had attended this fine restaurant on a Saturday evening for dinner. We were all very pleased with the cuisine, the service and the atmosphere. We started our evening with Tomato Provencal, Salade Verte and warm stuffed dates. The tomato salad, while simple, had very juicy Beefsteak Tomatoes, capers, shallots and with a really tasty vinaigrette. The green salad was mixed rather lavishly with Romaine lettuce, peas, radishes, cucumbers and sherry vinaigrette. This salad was fresh, crunchy and light. The warm dates were stuffed with almonds for crunch and Roquefort cheese, which is an acquired taste, but interesting. Main course we all ordered the 8 oz filet mignon with Mushroom Duxelles and traditional Bordelaise sauce, which is just perfect with steak. All cooked to medium perfection, juicy and tender. For dessert, we had a slice of Black Forest cake and Blueberry Beignets. The cake was a twist on the traditional German gateau with delicious cherries as an accompaniment. The Beignets popped with a blueberry filling and accompanied by blueberry compote and Creme Anglais. All very tasty. A bottle of Flowers pinot noir from the Sonoma Coast washed it all done well. Of course, an Espresso Martini with added Baileys liqueur set our evening. Our server was named 'Alberto' on the receipt. He was helpful with the menu and specials, efficient and polite. A credit to the restaurant. The atmosphere was very busy, but well controlled. The high ceilings and decor were impressive, to say the least. Well worth a trip. Overall a solid four stars out of five. I would recommend this venue.

We celebrated our anniversary here (45 years) although we were probably the oldest customers in the restaurant we couldn't have been made more welcome! The place was packed but service was quick and efficient and the food was absolutely delicious! Best Filet Mignon ever! We were presented with a celebratory ice cream cake which was a nice touch and much appreciated. Highly recommended for a special experience

Had the great pleasure of dining at Cathedral for my birthday last evening. Everything was perfection! We felt safe, indulged and of course, well fed. The manager, Leo, was welcoming and responsive; the waitstaff always accessible, and the food from Chef Jason’s kitchen was divine! We started with oysters, soft-shell crab, tartare, hamachi crudo, and asparagus with over easy egg. I don’t usually like fish or egg yolk yet I savored everything. The food was so appealing I tried it all and so very glad I did. Everything was done perfectly. For dinner we had the rotisserie chicken and lamb chop - again, amazing! For desert strawberry shortcake and sorrento lemon along with chilled limoncello. I even got to meet the chef. The whole experience was incredible! Although I wasn’t able to travel to Europe due to COVID, I felt like my palate did. Cheers to a certainly memorable birthday!

Lost on 11the Street east side. Amazing underground cathedral. 26ft veiling and great decor. A warm welcome superb service and good vfm brunch. A great ny experience We will be back

Hubby and I decided we needed a NYC Saturday with Retail Therapy, etc. He heard about Cathedrale from friends in the city and we decided to give it a try, especially in light of some older TA reviews that were not so complimentary. OK, our friends were right. It's an amazing place for a weekend brunch. The main dining room is spectacular. Brilliant modern design using sculptural pieces to baffle noise, etc. Breathtaking. The food was equally good. We enjoyed the Burrata with Chickpea Fritter, the Salad Nicoise (very LARGE portion), and the Roasted Salmon. For desert we tried the Apple Beignet (DO NOT PASS THESE BY). The food was superb. They also have some very creative cocktails and the wine list is one of the best I've seen in a dogs age. Had a lovely Roussane from the Rhone. During brunch they also have a KICK ASS Jazz group. These guys are the real thing. So totally enjoyable. We will return!!!!

The lady would not cancel my reservation bc my companion’s flight was delayed and we wouldn’t make it and so she charged me $20 even tho I called versus no showed. A JOKE of a business! As a business owner, you’re thirsty and it shows! The lady that answered the phone, you could never work for me.

I just ate at Cathedral with some friends this past weekend and I thought it was worthy of a 5 star review. Our server was great, our table was great. The potato chip caviar was a miss, but otherwise our cocktails, dinner and ambiance was 5 stars

Some food OK. Some waiters OK. But $640 before tip to have wine rationed (bottle not accessible) and spoken to with a poor attitude, is not what I expect for $640. Better, more friendly service available in less pretentious eateries for less $$. Took great offense, whilst sitting quietly minding my own business, when I was “barked” at by a staff member “may I remind you not to vape”. I had not vaped. I had no intention of vaping. Why was I singled out? Am still awaiting the apology from this rude, accusatory staff member. This happened during the first course and tainted the whole restaurant experience. Just landed from London on first trip post CV19. I’m a respectful and law abiding person. There are many things people cannot do in restaurants. We are not reminded of these. The voice tone had attitude. Not quite believing what I think I’d heard, I asked the man “sorry”? He repeated the exact words. I’m still flabbergasted the next day. My crime? I had a vape machine lying flat on the table. There is no law against this. Will not be returning.

Wonderful place food aperitives bar a show table attendance poorly polite waitress arrogant thinks and owner .....

Enjoyed a birthday dinner celebration at Cathedrale on a girls' weekend in NYC - amazing location, great food and drinks - definitely made the celebration even better!

Came here for Restaurant Week, and was impressed by the staggeringly high ceilings. Creates a very cavernous atmosphere, reminiscent of a cathedral. The food was excellent – loved the octopus, pasta, and chocolate cake. Even the complimentary bread was delicious. However, the wait times for everything was rather long. We had to wait for a while even though we had a reservation to be seated. The time in between courses was long, and it took forever to get the check. Overall, it was an an enjoyable experience and I would go back.

Wonderful experience! Great food ,beautiful interior , wonderful service! One of the managers Nicolas went out of his way to make us comfortable and made the night very special. Thank You 😊 I’m definitely coming back and recommend this place to my friends 😘

Visited for my birthday on a Monday night and it seem as though they didn’t have enough staff or people wasn’t working. The food was basic and average and the drinks were good. To be honest it’s a good spot for drinks. The ambiance and the decor is nice. It took over 20 minutes for someone to come over and take our order. We never got our waiter name. She was nice and pleasant but we had to give someone the bill when we were ready to pay. For the price and prestigious image they displayed I rather go to Le Bernadine or somewhere else.

BAR REVIEW ONLY. Came here Saturday early evening for drinks—had reservations for the bar area so we got seated right away. I was a little disappointed the bar was not in the main dining room where I had seen online of their beautiful decor/architecture. Bar area was packed with lots of people coming in and out, also very dim lit here. Drinks were great—we enjoyed the Amalfi Breeze and La Belle et la Bete (both vodka based cocktails). Tried the Onion Soup du Pere Louis and Globe Artichoke, both good! Service was great and our bartender was pretty attentive.

We wound up spending two unplanned nights in NYC after our flight home was canceled. We were tired and pretty stressed out and so we opted for the restaurant in the hotel. It was a very welcome surprise. It’s a beautiful restaurant and the service was excellent. We both had chicken, which was outstanding and a Napoleon made from phyllo dough. It included fruit and yogurt and was incredibly light and delicious. We had a great evening.

As a Greenwich Village resident my wife , and grand daughter( college age) decided it was finally time to visit Cathedral. There is nothing religious about the jumping ,beautifully designed bistro type , up-scale restaurant/bar. There is a high cathedral ceiling in the main dining room that is architecturally striking. The menu offers something for everyone including carnivores, vegetarians , and fish/sea food lovers. Drinks are well prepared and we were all happy with baby artichoke starters followed by excellent scallops. Desert was an excellent chocolate cake with ice cream topping . Prices are typical for the area. The focus is not on cuisine but on the overall space and upbeat vibe. This is not a quiet intimate space but conversations are possible. The crowd is young but others are welcome and blend into the scene. It is an easy walk to Union Square Park and to Greenwich Village. A good place for locals and visitors.

Celebrated a birthday here. Stunning main dinning hall. Attentive service. Delicious food. Mushroom side was prob one of best I’ve tried. Food preparation is a little slow but overall great experience.

Cathedrale...well when you get what you pay for plus more. We were lucky enough to experience this amazing restaurant during Restaurant Week. I expected the food to be good, but not this good. Everything we ordered (see pics below) was amazing. The flavors just hit you too perfection. With top food, comes amazing service, and the staff there are really amazing. You can actually tell when a team really loves to work together. Definitely a place on a to do list if you are a foodie.

The food was fine. Grilled chicken was good, as well as my husband's black bass special. Starters were fine too. The ambiance was not great. Unfortunately the restaurant is on a block without trees. While there are some plaints, including mint and basil and there is plexiglass separating you from the table next to you, the street is stark and could use come large plants to block it.

I went to this restaurant with my family a few days ago. A waiter spilled all the sauce from the filet mignon on my new jacket ruining it completely. They promised to reimburse me and send me a email not to worry, so I paid my 800.00 dollars bill I brought the jacket to the dry cleaners but they were not able to remove the stain as the sauce was very greasy. I wrote them an e-mail asking for the payment of the jacket replacement and they answered they will not cover it but all they could do is give me a 50 dollars coupon. I was profoundly disappointed by this experience. Eraldo B.

We ate here on a Sunday night and it was packed. Service and food were good. A decent menu assortment. The beignets are a must for dessert. I would return.

Very scenic place, warm atmosphere with soft lights, well furnished. A very good start at the bar with an excellent cocktail (emingway special), then an inexorable shipwreck. Careless service, we order 4 dishes, my wife's first arrives, mine arrives 15 minutes later. The staff manages the wine, the glass remains empty for minutes between one refill and another. Requesting bread, he arrives at the table with the dish finished. The waiter serving dessert almost smears his dress. In summary, overall quality far below expectations.

The first time here. The menu and the food were outstanding! The other aspect of service was another story. There were four of us. Our waiter did not present as cordial or friendly. He did not engage in polite conversation. He was so uncomfortable in interacting with us that he handed over his serving to another waiter. Quite an embarrassing moment. One of us is a Dean at a high profile University. The rest of us have professional careers. I have never experienced this with Fine Dining. However the substitute waiter, Lorenzo, made up for our humiliation! He was everything a waiter should be. The management should implement more training with customer relations. Despite the exceptional food and ambience, I shall most likely never return.

“If they can do lamb chops... then Thanksgiving dinner won’t be a problem” Wonderful dining experience, from the staff to the decor- the seating comfort (booths) and the FOOD! It was very well done, I’ve had better but not at this price point. The management is very attentive to the guests needs/desires and there are even a few off menu winks😉 The place is surprisingly intimate with relatively low noise levels and an atmosphere that is quite enjoyable. Oh and don’t be embarrassed,... most everyone shamelessly snapped a pic of the ceiling installation-

We booked a month in advance. I had family visiting. They (the restaurant) even called the day before to confirm. We arrived at the door to be told the place was closed for a private event. So we had to scramble to find something last minute on a Saturday. Extremely poor customer service

We wanted to check the new “posh” place in town and it was a total disappointment. Poor menu choice, super loud and old music, you cannot talk one with another as the music was louder than a club. Small place more like a basement style not the open space super large as Tao.The service was ok, the server nothing to complain about it as he tried to be helpful, however was not his fault that the food was disgusting. Yes DISGUSTING is the word. The hamachi appetizer tasted old, blend, no salt no condiments and the fish itself was mushy and warm. It supposed to come with some vinegar / green apple marinade but was tasteless and blemd. I wouldn’t feed my cat with that dish. My maincourse was grilled lobster that for some reason it came in a broth / sauce super sweet with a lot of sugar or whatever they choose to add inside, and on top of that it says in the menu that comes with spinach as side dish. Well the worst part is that the chef decided to throw fresh spinach from a bag on top of the lobster so in his ideea it will be tasty but was again disgusting!!! Who throws fresh spinach all over the lobster with ZERO imagination like that???? The server told me my maincourse comes with spinach but i should get some other side dish too and i choose Haricot vert , which was the only ok dish from the whole dinner. But surprisingly the server brought without me asking for it...a bowl of carrots that i didn’t even touched or even tasted and it went back in the kitchen the same way was when he put it on my table ( untouched)... but however was on my bill at the end. I didn’t want to make a scene, i pretend that i eat the lobster in fact i tasted 2 bites and i gave it away as it was impossible to eat or enjoy that dish, we asked for the check and left asap. A friend of mine went few days before and after my bad experience she told me that her table returned 4 dishes as they didn’t likes it either, so i guess was not just me. We are eating out 4-5 nights a week and we try all new places in town but this one was a total disappointment. The funny thing is that their service steps are so bad and its not the servers fault, it is the system as my COLD appetizer came 10 minutes later than my husband’s hot appetizer, so while he was eating his appetizer i was watching him while waiting for my food. This is really poor step of service even for a cheap Diner , not for a place as Cathedrale. Def we will never be back in a place that we paid $420 and the food was way below average!!!

Our goal was to make it here for a late dinner - and late we did make it - almost before the kitchen closed on a Sunday night, but they were gracious enough to seat us and feed us. The steak tartar was great - glad we didn't skip it and go straight to dessert. But the desserts were phenomenal! The Sorrento Lemon is as tasty as it is stunning to look at. And the President Cake shouldn't be missed either - very rich, very decadent. The service was excellent - even when it was clear everyone was ready to go home they still served with a smile and patients.

My husband and I enjoyed every morsel of our dinner at Cathedrale. We were there early in the evening so we found the service very good and the food came out quickly. The salad verte was very generous in size and delicious. My husband had the filet mignon and I had the Faroe Island Salmon. We both enjoyed the entrees. We don't usually order dessert but we made the exception this time...my husband had the creme brulee and I had the Sorrento Lemon which I am still dreaming about. This meal did not disappoint us. Not cheap but definitely delicious.

High priced food well prepared in a wonderful cathedral setting. Good wine list with higher priced wines. Service ok but could use an uplift. Wine selection in given price range would require more expertise

Honestly, the mere fact that I’m writing this review expresses my level of disappointment. Now as a waiter, who has over 6+ years of experience in hospitality with a degree in hospitality management and who has worked for the Fairmont hotels in the Caribbean understand mistakes do happen, but the blatant disrespect leads me to make this review. It’s my partner's birthday and I wanted to surprise him with a lovely dinner but unfortunately, that wasn’t the case after dining here. I gave it 2 stars because I was early for my reservation and the host and the bartender were spot on as I waited for my partner to arrive. The bartender was pretty knowledgeable as I expressed that I was from Barbados and the rum cocktail ingredients reminded me of what we call home a ( rum punch). Are y’all still with me? Side note, I’m not the one to write reviews, things happen and I understand because I’ve worked in the field. Now we sat down things started pretty good the octopus was an 8/10 paired with a glass of Sauvignon blanc. After that course, we’ve waited to be exact 41 mins for our mains. At this point, I’m trying not to get upset because I know how much of a big deal this was to me. The food came, I ordered the Black Sea bass and he ordered the rotisserie chicken which I should add that it was 9/10. So the food was good however our side never made the table. As I said, things do happen, sometimes waiters do forget to fire/ notify the kitchen that the table is on to its next course. But, but, but! The fact that the table next to us who order the same food that we did and who didn’t have to wait was messed up! His food came so quickly that in my mind I thought that this had to be a joke. My plans on spending over 1k turned to 200. The manager offered to take the food off but I told him that was unnecessary as the food was good and we ate it, so it was only right that we paid for it. While waiting the waiter expressed that he was sorry for the mishap the kitchen made and that the manager is going to bring us something special. That in itself took a minute because…. I guess the chocolate soufflé was gonna make the experience better. We waited!!!! At this point, I asked for the check. I paid and tipped as well! Overall because of what I’ve experienced, I’m afraid this will be my first and last time attending this restaurant.

I was expecting great things from this restaurant and I was disappointed at almost every level. I don't know what magic they used to take the restaurant photos that they post but it does not look like that at all. It is substantially smaller and less impressive. There is intrusive loud 80's music that did not enhance the experience but hindered it (and I like 80's music) The bar area has lighting akin to a cafeteria and does not feel like a part of the restaurant. There is another part of the restaurant that is a tiny faux garden area that we immediately asked to be moved from into the main dining room. They accommodated us and the drinks were good. The waiter was not warm or welcoming or knowledgeable nor did he have any kind of personality to speak of, he was timid and awkward. The food was only okay, there was nothing particularly interesting or elevated about it. We tried pasta, lamb, chicken and fish. During the meal the bus staff made the experience more uncomfortable by reaching across my sister's body (I mean close) to fill the water glass while staring oddly at my nephew. There was a repeated wiping of the table (no tablecloth on about half of the tables by the way) even while we were eating and talking and trying to enjoy a birthday celebration. I mean intense, arm moving extensive wiping of the table. They knew it was a birthday because we told them and they asked us to point out the birthday person. So when her dessert came, it had an UN-LIT candle in it. We were stumped, would it light suddenly to our delight? was there a mistake? Nobody smokes anymore so we didn't have a light. They then brought out the pictured swirled dessert with a lit candle but did not sing or wish her a Happy Birthday. I have visited many many restaurants in this city and I want to tell Cathedrale that if they want to figure out how to be funky and fun and cool, they should visit Beauty and Essex. Of course I have no idea what the restaurant's identity was trying to be so since they failed in ambiance, music, service and food, I would say that perhaps they should start over with an actual plan.

I only give 2 stars because I've waited 3 days for a reply to my email voicing my disappointment otherwise I would leave 3 stars. Starting at entry, stairs leading down to a dungeon-like setting, was an immediate disappointment. The atmosphere was dim lighting and not in a romantic sense but more debaucherous. The hostess station was overly crowded by patrons that blocked the way to seating, exit, and the restrooms, and the congestion was not rectified in the three hours it took from seating to meal completion. It took two hours to get our meals. The music was not an accouterment, but rather intrusive and made poor background enhancement as it overpowered any conversation. As for the food, the Hen of the Woods and the black truffle linguini were by far the best things served. Again, we revisit the two hours to get our food. They forgot one of our party members' order and when she was finally served her chicken was flavorful, but was lost on the reheated dryness of the poultry, as if rapid cooked in a microwave. They offered a complimentary glass of wine, however, as a type 1 diabetic she refrains from alcohol, and the delay of her meal also comes with health concerns with dropping blood sugars. Because the server never returned to the table she was not able to express the disappointment in her meal and therefore it could not be rectified while we were dining. Her dinner should have been complementary. I will give them props for rewarding the youngest member of our party (9-years-young) with a dessert on the house for her role model behavior. All-in-all for the price of the meal, the service, and the atmosphere, I would not recommend this establishment.

We enjoyed everything from the eclectic central hall to the food experience. Dont skip the warm dates and the truffle fettuccine. Extensive wine list and above all warm and great service.

This is a lovely restaurant and the service is very attentive. We were seated in the 'outdoor' area which is tastefully decorated to feel like a terrace. The main 'indoor' section of the Cathedrale is quite spectacular but also very busy. I was somewhat horrified by the wine prices but then New York is expensive! Overall we had a nice night but I'm glad I wasn't picking up the bill!

Ordered an assortment of appetizers for dinner. Enjoyed everything I had - from the warm dates with blue cheese and marcona almonds, to the burrata with roasted peppers, to the steak tartar.

I was there with my daughter on Thanksgiving. We had a reservation for 7:45 pm. But our table was not ready until 30 minutes later. Hence the one point deduction. The food was delicious. We had the Thanksgiving Supper. A little less meat, but a little more side dishes would have been better. The service was good. We had a very friendly waiter.

Ask for Julian. Food was wonderful including many different appetizers. Design is amazing. Service was great. Even their hamburgers were good! A lot of attention to detail.

I always loved Tao and this is the newest addition to the Tao Group . But on a Friday night , prime dinning hour I was completely disappointed . Neither the sexy atmosphere or the stylish crowd of Tao , this claustrophobic basement looks better on the website pictures than in real life . The food is more than mediocre , with a very limited wine selection .It's expensive and not worth it . The only kudos go to service : attentive and gracious .

If you want to spend a special evening in New York City, this is the place for you. The spectacular location is very cool and the atmosphere in New York City is gigantic. From the outside you cannot see what is hidden behind the front door. The food was excellent. Scallops, oysters, frittura mista, champager. Everything at its finest. It's expensive, but anyone who's been to New York the last few years knows everything is expensive. Communication for table reservation is difficult, but one should definitely reserve. Despite the restaurant size, every seat is occupied during the week.

We were a party of 8. Our dinner was really good. While our Vegetarian and Pescatarian folks enjoyed their entrees, the steaks were by far the highlight according to the carnivores, specifically the 8 oz Filet and the 24 oz Prime Aged Ribeye were cooked to perfection. One frequent steak orderer declared it the best he had ever had. The only thing I would change would be to not sit out on the patio as the open air was really hot and muggy.

I had dinner with my family a few days ago .A waiter spilled a lot of sauce from the fillet mignon on my husband brand new jacket. The manager told us not to worry and send us an e-mail that they would embrace our damages. They also brought us some desserts that we were not interested in or ordered , for free. Consequently we paid our 800 dollars bill .We send the jacket to the dry cleaners but unfortunately the sauce was too greasy and the spot is still there. We wrote them an e- mail asking to be reimbursed for the jacket replacement but they said the only thing they could do is to let us have a voucher of 50 dollars to use in their restaurant. This was totally unfair and very disappointing to us.

Cozy place, quiet environments, wonderful food and drinks,. Immaculate attention. Place of easy access.

Excellent service, food is delicious (mix american/french) and definitely higher US standards. Quantity is fine and the place is awesome. Positioned and served by cabs, there is also a rooftop to drink before/after. Margaritas were powerful and good too

Great that we were given a table in the dining room even though we only had a bar reservation. The venue is fantastic! Cocktails were great. Appetizer was ok but when my friends were finished they took their plates (I know it is normal in the us) and seconds after they brought, not only theirs, but also my main dish (before i had finished my appetizer)… when I said I wanted to finish my appetizer they responded “we will see what we can do”. In the main (scallops with sunchokes) there was sand… (but taste was good) I would go back for drinks but not for dinner

Food is very good, staff is great. Would definitely recommend this restaurant. The space is lovely!!

The attitude of the maitre d put us both offside from the 2nd she arrived. "Stand to my left and wait for staff to seat you". No please or thank you. From there it was a mediocre experience and we could wait to get out of there. She should be washing dishes not greeting customers

I found this restaurant on IG and I am so glad I did. I usually don't travel to the lower east side, especially to eat. This restaurant made the trip worthwhile. You walk down a long hallway and down the stairs and enter a different world. Everyone from the beginning of our evening to the end, were super nice and professional. We ordered a wonderful lemon, vodka, champagne and sorbet drink that was made at the table - it was delicious, but seriously the glass was so tiny - I think I had four sips. I never order chicken a restaurant, but the description on the menu looked so good, I had to try it. We also ordered the salmon and the hamachi - both equally delicious! If you get a chance, definitely visit this restaurant.

Its absolutely terrible place if you are there for quiet family night out. I reserved table in their main dining area, since it is new year celebration, table costed a lot. And to my surprise they sat us behind the curb of their main dining area, there are 2 tables behind their main dining area u cant even see the iconic interior by that table, absolute horrendous experience. To be honest literal scam for tourists, be aware, avoid asap

I was staying in the associated hotel and drawn in by the lovely look of the restaurant and the menu , which had what looked like many good selections. However, as a woman dining alone I was treated quite poorly. I made an early reservation, the restaurant was practically empty, I was shown to a table with a poor location, when I expressed that I wasn't happy with the table I was grudgingly told to move to another but told not to take any to the right of a certain row of tables. In my new, slightly improved table location, I sat, ignored completely for 20 minutes as wait staff and others walked by doing more important things in the practically empty restaurant. The wait grew too long and not a glass of water...a hello...a menu....or any sign that they wanted my business occurred. I left quite disgusted, but found a lovely dinner in The Smith across the street...complete opposite experience!

we were with a large party in a private room and the family style food was beautifully presented and was delicious...

Good restaurant from the Tao gang. Kind of what you might expect. Cool soundtrack - gorillaz; talking heads; elastica. Good food with a bit of mix of influences. Halibut was great. Portion sizes were good too. Attentive service. Interesting ambience with the high ceilings and the decor. I’d go again and be pleased to go. Works for a fun business night out or for friends / couples.

Very nice room, beautiful decor, excellent service. I expected superior cuisine for French cuisine.... ,

I decided to make a reservation for this restaurant from what I had read online of its beauty and good food. Yes the restaurant had a very nice design, but the atmosphere was lessened by the unfitting, loud 80's music blaring from the speakers throughout the entirety of our meal. The food was fine, but not anything I would rave to others about. The service was fine, however, our waiter was strangely switched in the middle of the meal since there was a "staff meeting." Overall, I would say that this is a great spot to get a picture with family or friends, but does not have very much else to offer.

If you’re hoping to have a nice, quiet dining experience with excellent French food, don’t go to Cathédrale. We were there on a Friday evening around 9 and the atmosphere was overwhelming. If it were a bar I would call it lively and festive, but for a sit down restaurant their “high-energy haven” was unbearable. The music was much too loud and the din was exhausting. The bar area separates the dining room from the garden room (and I mean physically separates but there are no actual walls for barriers) so the noise level overflows into the dining areas. And the picture on the website of the impressive looking edifice that showcases the grand ceiling? It’s a bit misleading. It’s much smaller and significantly less impressive in person. Now to the food. I ordered a pasta dish, which is something I’d consider a low risk choice as far as the possibility of disappointment. It was basically a rigatoni with peas and pesto, very simple. While I did find the pesto sauce tasty, the meal was far less enjoyable than I’d hoped because both the pasta and the peas were underdone. Not so undercooked that I would send it back, but enough so the peas sat in my stomach like little lead balls after I ate. The service was mediocre at best. The young waiter seemed lazy, barely checking on us and disappearing when we were finished and trying to get the check. On the plus side, the complimentary bread sticks, olives, and mini bread loaf were amazingly tasty.

This restaurant offers a wonderful dining experience. The atmosphere is eclectic in an interesting venue. The wine list is extensive . Everyone in our party enjoyed all the dishes they ordered from the appetizers, entrees and desserts. As soon as you sit down , the staff brings delicious olives and the largest and best bread sticks you have eaten.

Might be one of the most beautiful restaurants in the city, but the dazzle doesn't hide the deficiencies of service and the food, which is quirky and pretentious. So, five stars for ambience (except who chose those chairs???) and two or three stars for the food. (some dishes we ordered never arrived, we had to wait to be seated despite a reservation and the order of one of us at the table was forgotten while the rest of us were served.)

Booked this to celebrate a special Birthday while visiting New York from the UK with my grown up family. I wanted somewhere that felt different and the main dining room in Cathedrale didn't disappoint. The ceiling chain sculpture was very unusual and dramatic, but softened by silk drapes around the walls. We were seated in a booth around the edge which felt cosy. The restaurant felt more upmarket than I was expecting, which was perfect for the occasion. It was very busy, so I'd advise booking early - we booked a month or more before we travelled. Service was friendly, professional and efficient with a dedicated waitress and several others clearing away. There was a friendly sommelier who introduced himself, offering his services to advise on the wine - some of which was VERY expensive - the most expensive being $12,500! However, there were more reasonable prices too but we mostly had cocktails. We chose one cocktail - Sgroppino - where the bar waitress brought a trolley to our table and whisked the ingredients together (including lemon sorbet) in front of us, which was a nice bit of theatre and it was delicious. We were given breadsticks, olives and bread with a really delicious butter, while we waited for our meal. Our main course (entrees) was good. My husband had the entrecote steak, which was very expensive, but he enjoyed immensely. I had chicken chasseur, but felt it needed a little more rice to balance the amount of meat. My daughters shared a dessert which was probably wise, as both my husband and I couldn't finish our individual desserts. The waitress also presented me with a small Birthday cake and candle. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience at Cathedrale - the atmosphere, service and food, so would definitely recommend.

We had high hopes for this place, the vibe has energy and the decor is pleasing. The hostess was welcoming, it all went down hill after the entrance. We sat at the bar and were made watered down martini and the bartender held a conversation with another patron with the olives clutched in his hand during the conversation, then proceeded to use them in our drinks! Gross! The food had highs and lows, tuna app was good, calamari mush was gross and the artichokes were delicious. The squash was overly sweet and everything was salty. They also forgot an order. It. Oils be a nice place but need to work out a lot of kinks, Chef and bartenders.

Disappointing. Cannot imagine bringing guests - business or personal - here again. I know these are tough, unusual times but basic service rules should still apply.

The cathedral restaurant was just really awesome in every possible way. The atmosphere is wonderful. We had a waiter that didn't tell us until the end that he was still a trainee, and you would never have known it. Young guy, great confidence, great service, good smile, and just made the whole night really perfect. The food was outstanding, some of the best food that we've ever had in the city. The atmosphere, great, and I could just go on and on. We were actually staying at the Moxy hotel right next store which made it very convenient. We will definitely be back!

Good new addition to the Tao Empire. Great service (Miguel and team), nice ambiance with multiple rooms, good looking crowd! Food was good also but a tad salty. Worth a try!

+ves = Venue amazing, service awesome and really accommodating as there was an issue with my reservation not going through. -ves = food not worth the price point. Basic or mismatched flavours. I had steak tartare and the scallops, kids had octopus, fusilli verte and the salmon. Air con beating down on booths to the back
