Not what we Hoping for.

Just Saying it didn't live up to mine or my wife's expectations. Wasn't bad food just nothing special. Hope my trip here to eat is not what it is on the normal but don't be surprised if it is.

Delicious Gluten and Gluten Free Italian

By Lindsay B |

I was super impressed with this place. My son has celiac disease, so any time we can find a restaurant with an extensive gluten free selection AND tasty gluten-y options, I am pumped. Knowledgeable and friendly staff when it comes to cross-contamination of gluten. The menu is set up like a normal Italian menu, with options for the gluten free noted. Amazingly, it is not just two or three items that all taste the same, either. Gluten free pizzas, pastas, and even bread sticks. My kids got pizza--one GF, one not. I got the lobster ravioli (gluten ) and pear salad (GF), and my dad had fettuccine Alfredo (available without gluten!) Cozy, delicious, friendly. Near theatre, Times Square, etc. Definitely go.

Good Food and Service

We had dinner here on a holiday evening and were able to get a table without a reservation. The food was very good, and the service was prompt and courteous. Prices were reasonable.

Great Food - With Great Gluten Free Options

By Gina C |

It was a pleasure to have lunch at this restaurant. I researched Italian restaurants that offered gluten-free options, and Ceci came up on the search. It isn’t far from Times Square where all the restaurants are very crowded and overpriced for mediocre food. This restaurant has a lovely bar, and the dining room is very nice, very clean. Italian music was playing! The menu had a good selection of non gluten-free dishes AND gluten-free dishes; the gluten-free dishes are clearly noted!! A good selection of kid-friendly meals is offered. Our orders were taken quickly by Diego and another server. Both were excellent; they were on top of everything for us! Crusty Italian bread and Italian butter came first, and I was given a yummy gluten-free roll. My son had Chicken Parm, and I had a gluten-free Pizza Margherita. Portions were big, and the food was delicious!! Son had a good-sized slice of cheesecake which he said was great; I had a very good cup of espresso. Our bill was $50 and change, which I believe is a fair price for an excellent meal, good atmosphere and great service in Manhattan. All in all, very happy we ate here. Looking forward to our next visit!

Great Food, Good Value

A great place to dine, and with good value. Loved the range of choice for many diverse tastes. Clean, good service and friendly staff.

Great Food, Slow Service

By mp30987 |

My wife and I found this Italian place after a taping of Jimmy Fallon. We waited 10 minutes for a table (around 7PM on a Thursday) which was not bad at all. Overall, I would say our experience was just odd. Details below: - We walked by the bar to our table and the bar clearly had working beer taps. However, when I asked the waiter what they had on tap, he told me they only have bottled beer and handed me a drink menu. - We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and the description said it was tossed in a chipotle sauce. When it came, it was simple breaded, fried calamari with a side of marinara sauce. - The entrees were fantastic. Lots of flavor and seasoned very well. Highly recommend the pasta house specialty. Good sized portions and beautiful presentation. - The service is nothing to brag about. We were sitting across from a large party of about 12 people, which seemed to take up the majority of our waiter's time. However, we felt ignored the entire time we were there. There was a span of 16 minutes where my wife and I were both empty on drinks and water before someone came over to even ask for another round or refill. Furthermore, we asked the waiter for our check and he never returned. We had to ask another waitress passing by for the check (at this point we looked annoyed so she got it for us in a timely fashion). I totally understand that a large party can be overwhelming for a server, but to pass by on multiple occasions and not even check in to see how everything is was unacceptable. Overall, we enjoyed the food but will not return.

Excellent Italian

By BillM551 |

My family of five at at Ceci Italian Cuisine after the show at Radio City Music Hall. The wait line seemed short, but this is a small restaurant so the wait was more than 30 minutes. We were impressed by the menu and enjoyed true Italian dishes included risotto pescatore, spaghetti and meatballs for my grandson, and lobster ravioli. I do not remember the salads, but they were fresh and perfectly dressed. Service was attentive and responsive. I certainly recommend Ceci Italian Cuisine and recommend reserving a table.

Good Italian Food!

By stietze |

Very good food. The dishes have a great ingenuinity. The service is great. The restaurant is worthwile visiting.

Love all of the options!

By Jessica P |

We decided on this restaurant based on the good reviews and the variety of options for our group. The inside is very quaint and cutely decorated. We each enjoyed a side spinach salad which was great. The veal Alla sorrentina was great with the side of veggies. I love the option to get vegetables with any entree in place of pasta.

Great Italian

Found this place on OpenTable. The food was excellent. Just right size portions. Try the chicken parm and also linguini and clams. Nice selection of wines as well

Romantic gf delight!

By TriniTraveller69 |

We wined and dined at this gf delight off Times Square. The host’s suggestions for wine, main course and dessert were great!

Worst meal and experience I had in New York

By Cohibaba |

Went for a light dinner with my wife and her cousin -looking for pizza and appetizers. Although the wait staff was friendly, the food was a disaster. The calamari was as if it was cooked from a frozen generic bag at walmart, the salad was small and worst of all, the so-called flat-bread pizza was an elongated pita-bread with cheese and toppings that wasn't cooked but more like "melted". The picts on the web show more of a traditional Neapolitan pizza and when I showed that to the waiter, he says that was from a long time ago and they don't have that. Also charged $25 for corkage, so we opted for a bottle there - which turned out to be the best part of the meal. But the real kicker was at the end of our "dining experience", the owner/manager comes us to us and starts criticizing our disappointment with his flatbread pizza, how much his license for wine costs and why he has to charge $25 for corkage, the restrictions the city gov has placed on dining establishments, etc., etc.... - WTF???? As a customer who just dropped over $100 +tip on 2 flatbread pizzas (I had him take mine off the bill), a salad, terrible calamari and a bottle of WAY OVERPRICED wine, I really don't CARE about all of that crap. His condescending attitude trying to shame me into accepting the fact that this is the best he could do is a frickin' JOKE. There are THOUSANDS of other places that I would prefer than going back to this one. And if the manager/owner reads this - you'll know who I am, so maybe you might want to take a step back next time when a customer has a problem with a meal and overall experience and start offering ways to make it "right", instead of throwing it back on him as being the problem...

Rude staff!

By Grace C |

This place is so rude the staff couldn’t even be bothered to seat us. We had reservations and when we arrived no one greeted us. My mum went up to a member of staff and told them we had reservations, the woman promptly looked her up and down in a very snooty manner. She snapped “Someone will be with you in a minute” and after 5 minutes of being ignored by staff we decided to spend our money elsewhere. We’re in New York as a Christmas treat and being treated like scum on the bottom of someone’s shoe was not on the list. Expected better as this is not cheap, go elsewhere.

Great food

By smithers2018 |

Great little place near all the Broadway theaters. Suggest making a reservation as it’s a small place. Food was great, service only good at best. Prices average.

So much yum

By Emma R |

Great little restaurant. Atmosphere is warm and welcoming, as is the staff. Service was outstanding. Really fabulous range of dishes and so many of them can be made gluten free. Food is freshly made and full of flavour. Carbonara was so creamy!

Pizza

By Ka S |

.. 4 Italian restaurants nearby we pick Ceci for a pizza because we were craving one. Unfortunately Ceci out of pizza? So we order appetizer and take it from there. The manager comes and says ‘ if you only order appetizer you have to move to bar ?? I need the table ‘. We look surprised and said really? He let us sit at table but dinner was ruined so we left after appetizer.

Nothing special

By JohnfromSnorbens |

On holiday from UK we went here with a friend who lives in NYC. Service was quick but we were underwhelmed by the food We ordered a pizza each and were disappointed to get a tiny 8" pizza. It was more like a starter and we went home still hungry.

Easy to miss Italian

By Mark W |

We stopped in after a day of walking through New York City and decided to have an early dinner. We enjoyed a good bottle of Gewürztraminer wine, the pirogi as an appetizer, Fiocchi Quatro Formaggio, and lamb chops with polenta. The pasta was little stuffed pillows of deliciousness and the sauce they were in was light and not overpowering to the flavors of the vegetables in the dish. The Lamb chops were cooked to a perfect medium rare and intense with the flavor from the fire grill! We finished with cannoli and tiramisu for dessert, and when we walked out of the restaurant, we knew we had experienced a epicurean delight!

Worst Service and Rude With Costumers

By Elie Maltz |

We were at the restaurant and after sitting there for literally only 2 minutes while we were deciding what to order or even if we would stay there to see the game the waitress ask us very rudely to live unless we order immediately. The restaurant was practically empty, he was just being rude and assumed we couldn’t order for us being from Brazil ironically at NYC’s “Little Brazil”. Brazilians, don’t even waste your time going there, there is nothing left, “Little Brazil” morreu e só sobraram o lixo do lixo de NYC.

Enjoyable meal

By Rachel |

Our party of 7 really enjoyed a family dinner here before heading to a Broadway show. There was something for everyone on the menu. Each of us really enjoyed the food, although it was a tiny bit towards the pricey side. The pizzas are "personal" size, not really made to share with anyone (there is also an additional fee if you share a plate with someone at your table). The lasagna and pizza were the biggest hits with our family! There is a good wine selection. Our service was a tad slow although the restaurant was not full, but we were in and out with enough time to get to our show. Our waiter was very polite and accommodating, even though he had to deal with our elderly family patriarch who can be quite difficult at times! Our one "complaint" was dessert. We were so pleased with our main courses that we decided to order 3 desserts to share. This included 2 slices of chocolate cake which were very dry and just not very tasty.

Great

By DrB-477 |

I had a reservation for 14 after seeing the Rockettes... or at least I thought I did. Turned out I somehow made it originally for the correct date, but then I changed the time to slightly later and ended up being scheduled for the following day. So I arrived with my hungry party of 14 including a few tired kids to a crowded restaurant the weekend before Christmas... and I had no reservation. The manager could have easily turned us away, but he was very understanding and managed to fit us in the private dining room as soon as the party before us cleared out. We ended up waiting a little, but not much different than a random walk in party of 2 would have the same night. Service was good. Food was excellent... bread, salad, appys, main course. I had the osso bucco and I would get that again without hesitation. Prices were NYC reasonable, all said and done averaged around $50-60 per adult including tip with wine, there was a $40-ish prix fixe available. Entrees are generally in the $20-30 range with a few outliers, they had a kids menu for about $10/each which received rave reviews from my littles.

Diner

By mcenroute |

We went for a diner. Gluten free options available. Good food, good service. Maybe a little overpriced but in range.

Lovely atmosphere. Catered very well for Gluten Free

By Fleur M |

Arrived without a booking after a brief wait we were accommodated in quieter basement. The food was delicious. They easily catered for our peanut allergy and coeliac needs including separate GF bread. I'd highly recommend dining here.

Very good Italian

By suzijohn |

Nice charming little restaurant. Good menu options, friendly servers. Food very good. Fettucine Alfredo with chicken excellent.

Slender Italian

By WilliamCHiggins |

Walking down the street looking for an Italian place to eat..We found a very nice surprise indeed..Ceci. Took us in and took good care of us. A little tight but food and drink was good..nice portions. Is it cheap...not really..but...not real expensive either. We liked it.

So good!

By Mare6776 |

We came to eat here just because it was right next to our hotel after arriving in New York late. It was delicious! the best Italian food I've ever had! We didn't have a reservation but it wasn't too busy that evening so we were able to be seated immediately. Of our party of 4, everyone loved their meals. Highly recommend!

Cosy and pleasant

By LondonDiT |

We are from UK and can only compare this to Italian restaurant in London and Italy. Compared to both prices are high - but to be fair that seemed the case with other similar restaurants. We had create your own pizzas - perfectly good but nothing to write home about (when you have eaten better in Venice and Sicily etc). Lovely cozy atmosphere, good location near 5th Avenue and Times Square, good service and enjoyed the wine. Have never seen an Irish coffee with syrup and a cherry on top before - may be its a US thing!

One of our best Italian meals period

By digerati |

Our party of six adults and two toddlers were quickly seated on a Saturday night. Staff were attentive, food was quick to arrive and drinks were refilled constantly. Besides the friendly mechanics of our meal, the dishes themselves were out of this world! The fish was excellent, my fusilli puttanesca was the best I've had (saying a lot as my mother in law makes a mean dish of it) and the kids meals were well received. We would return and recommend in a heartbeat. Thank you for a stand our meal of our trip!

disapointed

By FOODIE |

so we went here with high hopes before going to a broadway show and we were very disappointed to say the least. the waitress was busy with larger parties so we didnt feel welcomed but that would of been fine if the food was good. i tried asking her for her opinion on a couple of dishes but again she was rushing but said she would go with the gnocci with meatsauce. and all i can say is WRONG CHOICE. no meat in the meatsauce and the gnocci were tough and chewy. my husband got veal parmesian and said he has had much better. even the cannoli was subpar. the only thing that was great was the bread and butter.

Friendly service, good food, smallish portions

By tkell31 |

Staff was friendly and as many have said the food is served hot. Corrected a mistake on our bill promptly. Little things detracted from the overall experience like the $6.50 soft drink which is maybe 8 ounces and the refills aren't free? The kids ordered (and these are tiny kids) and we were charged the adult version of the meal and when we asked were told we had to specify the kids version. Felt like nickle and dime stuff. The chicken parm I had was really good and the appetizers (Capri and Fried Mozzarella) were excellent, but you don't get much. This is a small restaurant some would say cozy, some would say cramped. Guess it depends on how busy it is and how close your neighbors are at the time. I would go back because the food is good, but would be more clinical with my order to avoid what I guess are their profit centers. Still can't get over the soft drink prices for such tiny glasses and I'm from the NYC area.

Blahhh!

By 956pat956 |

There have been a couple of comments on a odd smell which I did notice when you first walk in. It is only in the front near the bar so maybe a drain in that area is a problem. Beyond that area the smell is gone that is the good news. Also good were that we were greeted and seated quickly on the main floor. The seating is tight but you can side step between most tables if you are nimble. Not my job but would be interested to see haw NYC building code would apply. Anyway we are seated and waiter comes, he is pleasant, we ask and he offers suggestions for apps which we take. To keep it simple from this point on I will just describe the everything as blah and bland. The portions are ample and priced for NYC but none of us "enjoyed" the meal. We all ate, nobody complained, taste was not bad just non-existent. Grated cheese is available as is salt, pepper &...but I think food should come with taste. With a dozen Italian eateries within a couple of blocks from here I can only guess that you could find a better meal. So if you are the area for a show and plan to eat local, read the reviews, reserve early and if you prefer to season your own food at the table keep Ceci's on your short list.

Small bad pizzas

By Anders S |

We were here as a family, and the pizzas are small and not very good. The pizzas seem undercooked. Also there were a strange sewer smell in the restaurant, which was not nice. We will not come back.

Excellent Italian food

By Meekooky |

Sunday evening the place was full but we managed to get a table for 4 as walk-in. The food is excellent quality wise! We had peppers royale, pasta a piaccere, rigatoni pollo ceci and fiocchi quatro formaggi - all top quality taste! Especially the last one was really good! They serve water, hot bread and olives immediately after you sit down so it is nice. Interior is cool, definitely locals, service is knowledgeable and nice. Good selection of beverages, including european ones. Recommended!

My favorite Italian

By fitzhoyt |

I have been here many times & only once was I disappointed with the food because it was cold. But, this meal we had was GREAT and we LOVE the cannoli's!!! Service was also good and we had a very enjoyable evening before our show.

Italiano!

Very good Italian food! Picked this place off reviews and the food was very good. I would love to come back for seconds when I return to NY.

Dinner with family

By Ellen B |

My 17 year old daughter and I were visiting NYC and took my nephew to dinner. Wait staff was excellent, attentive without making us feel like we were being rushed. I had Fettucini Pollo Ceci and it was absolutely delicious, the sauce was an excellent vodka sauce. My daughter had the lobster ravioli and she said it had nice large chunks of lobster. Easy to get to by subway (get off at 47-50 Rockefeller Plaza). Easy to be able to have a conversation. We would definitely return!

Fresh and delicious

By Arlusete |

Lunch was fresh and delicious. Visited before a Broadway play. The restaurant has great ambiance and best of all it was quiet when we visited. It allowed us to enjoy conversation and of course the delicious food. Will definitely go again.

Went before going to the theater. Great evening

By G2492QCcarlosd |

My daughter who lives in NY invited us to have dinner at Ceci. Food was great and service superb. Great if you are going before the theater.

Very disapointing

By MARKLI |

We had a group of 10 people and we could not get reservations where we would have preferred...the fact that we could get reservations here should have been a warning that it was not really very good. They were able to seat us at our reservation time, but the service was painfully slow, and the menu is not very extensive. The prices are not terribly expensive, but quality of the meal and the size of the portions made it a very poor value. I had what was on the menu as prosciutto de Parma with melon...I did not really expect the melon to be very good at this time of year, and I was right...the prosciutto was not de Parma..it had almost no taste at all and was cut quite thick.I had veal sorrentino that was really just not good. The veal was like you would expect to get in the frozen food section at Costco, the sauce seemed as though it had been frozen for a long time as it became separated on my dish depositing a large amount of greasy water on my plate...not cooked the way a professional chef would prepare it....and.the portion was tiny...it did come with some decent mixed vegetables, but for the price it was not satisfactory. I did order tiramisu for desert, which itself was pretty good, but there was a dollop of what looked like whipped cream...but it was some artificial topping that was awful..3 people in our party ordered chicken Parmesan...most pizza joints make it better,,,, .I would in no way suggest to anyone that this is a decent place to eat....if you do...take note that they include the tip in your bill

Great Food

By Gab |

We were in fact on our way to another restaurant italiant restaurant, but we were so attracted by the entrance and the menu that was on the outside, that we had to check it out. There wasnt a lot of ppl in the restaurant so we were seated quickly. Food was amazing. The Calamari was on point, as well as the Involtini Di Pollo and the Rigatoni Pollo Ceci that we had. Highly recommended. The service from the staff was ok. Poor awareness of the waiters that came to our table because we had to hand them the empty plates in order to have a clean table, even though we had to put the plates in another table because there wasnt so much room in ours.

Fantastic meal!!!

By marie I |

This was a great meal with friends and had amazing cocktails. My cocktail was amazing. It was cosmo and I had some shots. My friends ordered a bottle of Sauvignon blanc and tequila shots. For our dinner, I ordered Sausages contadini with fettuccini . My friends ordered Linguini carbonara , spaghetti and meatballs. Staff was very friendly and made us feel we were family there. I highly recommend this place for dinner, and drinks for sure.

The best lobster ravioli!

By Edita |

A lovely, cozy and quiet place, perfect for having a break from the loud city. And I totally loved their lobster ravioli and ate them three days in a row!

Gluten free pasta!!!

By Scottish_Al_84 |

Lovely wee restaurant, packed when we arrived. First place I’ve ever been to to offer gluten free bread rolls. Extensive gf menu. Lovely pasta. Keep it up guys.

Great for Gluten Free.

By TunbridgeWellsDave |

We visited here because it was recommended on Trip advisor and really pleased we did. In fact we came here twice. Most of the menu is available Gluten Free and a large choice including sweets. Also was pleased to find they had cider in stock as it had been difficult to find in NY. The Manager and waiter couldn’t be more helpful. The food, by the way, was great and if we visit again this restaurant will be high on our list.

Stay Away Tourist Trap

By spinje01 |

This food is not good. It’s a bad place charging tourists a lot of money for poor quality food. Spaghetti with meatball and lasagna were borderline bad. The penne a la vodka was bad - I had to put salt on it and grated Parmesan. we had heart burn the whole night from the tomato sauce and felt hung over the next day. The inside is greasy and smells like a bar, don’t be fooled by photos. Expensive for the quality and the atmosphere. Choose one of the other 1,000 Italian places.

Wonderful little gem

By LOB62 |

Made a reservation for my husband's birthday based on reviews and cuisine (it was Good Friday and needed to stay away from meat). It was dank and dreary outside but the minute we opened the door, the restaurant (and the host) was warm and inviting. We were seated at small table in a corner by the entrance (our choice) for it was right next to the radiator--much needed! The help was efficient and pleasant. Food was delicious--my husband actually ate the rest of his dipping marinara sauce for his mozzarella en corazza right out of the cup with a spoon! He remarked that the mozzarella was the best he had for the breading was not mushy which is often the case. He was also thrilled that they had french fries for he is not much of a pasta/vegetable guy and they were perfect. Overall, an extremely pleasant and satisfying experience. Will definitely be back!

A MIXED BAG OF PLUSES AND MINUSES

By CountyGent |

Ceci Italian at 46 W 46th Street is conveniently located away of the pedestrian mayhem of Times Square, but close enough to the theatres to ensure one gets to the show on time. The décor, traditional, is quiet and allows for easy conversation, and service is good, if a bit "over eager": Twice we were asked how our food was before we even took a bite. I and my dinner companion ordered from the pris fixe menu. Our tab for the two of us was $129, which included tip and one glass of wine for each of us. I had a salad, chicken with mixed vegetables, and spumoni ice cream, all of which was properly prepared. My companion ordered the lobster (langusta) pasta but the waiter said it would have to be shrimp as they were out of the langusta. On the TripAdvisor website, it is stated that the pris fixe dinner costs $31.95, but in fact, it costs $38.95. Also on the website, all the prices both appetizers and main courses are stated as $3 to $5 less than the actual menu prices. Ceci purposefully seems to be understating the cost to dine but not providing correct and timely information to TripAdvisor. This is not correct. But anyway, my companion and I had a pleasant meal.

Excellent Gluten Free Italian near Times Square

By Traveling Hoosier |

Excellent meal, even provided GF bread for the celiacs among us. Portions were large and all were happy! Cost was about $50 per person including drinks.

Always a great experience

By ELJ59 |

We have been going to Ceci for several years, usually whenever we are in Manhattan to see a show. The food and the service are always great. Authentic Italian dishes, prepared well every time, and a wide selection from which to choose. The service is attentive and polite, but not intrusive. Their prices are also good, especially by New York standards. We had lunch at Ceci again just yesterday, and my husband and I shared an appetizer and entree, which worked out just right for us. Thank you to the staff of Ceci! We'll be back!

Dissapointing and Overpriced

By AJ812G |

Sewer smell on entry through bar area, wine choice unavailable, pizzas small, pasta presented with zero care. Meal was tasty enough but much better value locally. Attentive water server is about all I can say in a positive note.

Good food, large servings

By Lollie101 |

We visited this hotel before going to the show. The service was good, the food was better, and the fresh, hot bread was the best. The serving sizes were large.

Good good in a snug atmosphere but make sure and book!

By anthony b |

We ate here on Friday 9th December, booked before Radio City show. Was very busy and cosy, food was good, pizzas were hand made and excellent. Wings are very spicy though! House wine was a little like vinegar so be warned when you order it!

Good food, great service, outstanding location

By GoldiPhox |

Let's be honest, this is not the best food you will have in your life, but for a family of 5 to dine in Times Square, steps from Broadway for about $150 with friendly service, and generous portions... it's a great option! There is a kids menu available, too.

Awesome food!

By Susan W |

We just found the place by accident when googling Italian restaurants for supper. It ends up it was right by our hotel. The food was amazing and the service was great!! We returned for lunch too! Great find.

Great pre-theater dinner for a large group

By RandiFayeC |

Very accommodating for our large group (12) and respectful of time (pre-theater dinner). We were seated on a lower level, comfortable for everyone and reasonably easy to talk. Prices were fine (it is NYC). The starter salads were a hit for people that ordered them (interesting and good sized portions). Mixed reviews on the entrees, some thought they were heavy handed on the oil, I had salmon that was a bit overcooked and I would have liked less oil on my veggies. Dessert - tiramisu - was good but nothing special. Servers were very pleasant and efficient without being intrusive.

So so

By emfal |

Gluten free friendly italien restaurant on the 46th. Offers gluten free pizza and pasta. Was quite excited by the idea. But quite disappointed by the experience. Pizzas taste very sweet and are actually very difficult to digest :(. Service was nice.

Good food

By Mogilie |

Have gone there several times and every time is just as good as the first. Service very good and food is delicious. Moderately priced and nice size portions. Highly recommend it, conveniently located . Near subway.

Decent pizza

By ebs0303 |

When here after a show with my family. One of my sons is gluten free, so we got a gluten-free pizza, cheese pizza, and another one with meatballs and pepperoni. The pizzas were all very good in my son enjoyed the gluten-free.

Heavenly

By Thomas S |

We were fairly surprised that on a Friday night this place was pretty empty. While that worked out to benefit a group 7 that was in search of a good meal, this place seems like a hidden gem in New York. The service was exceptional, only to be surpassed by our amazing meal. I will be back again soon!

Lovely Food

By Yvonne S |

Good Fast Service. Lovely little restaurant, nice choice of food, and very pleased with what we ordered.

A Disappointment

By Juliane S |

I’m very careful about writing negative reviews because I feel strongly that all businesses have irregularities. However, this was probably the worst Italian restaurant I’ve ever been to. The gluten-free pizza was like cardboard. The meatballs were overcooked and minuscule. The menu was bland at best. I’m sorry to say I don’t recommend it.

Poor food

By Stefano M |

To be avoided like the plague, what's more they pass themselves off as an Italian restaurant... the gnocchi were tasteless muddy mush, the meat, chicken and side dish were disgustingly cooked and of very low quality, a terrible experience, not recommended!

Very good and cozy

By 22Janira |

We were looking for a good restaurant near Times Square and were impressed with the dishes. The restaurant is small and cozy. The staff is friendly. We recommend the lobster ravioli, the salmon and the lemon sorbet.

Love Ceci’s

By fitzhoyt |

This is one of our favorite Italian restaurants in NYC. I hate that the menu was smaller but I understand why. Food was great & service also was.

Sunday Dinner

By Norwaybound2012 |

My three girls (11, 13, 16) and I ate at Ceci's this past Sunday night. What a nice experience! We were seated right away and had fantastic service. The kid's menu is great, and portions nice size. My oldest and I split an entree and were very satisfied. This is a small restaurant with excellent food and service!

Great gluten free pizza and strong rum and cokes

By Jess |

So this little place had a cute ambiance, brick wall, dim lights, and most importantly GF pizza. Now we got a table early dinner time approx 4:30 which helped with seating because by the time we left the place was pretty full. I was very surprised at how strong the rum and cokes were, usually people skimp on that, but they did not.

Fair

By Chocolatelover1313 |

We went her because they had a gluten free menu. I had gluten free ravioli with a pink sauce that was fair. My husband does not have any allergies and he had chicken parmigiana. Both were fair.

Pleasant stop, food was very good.

By HRHmum |

Nice little neighborhood place. Cute bar in the front and dining in the back. Attentive service and pleasant staff. Food was very nice and the fact that they had so many Gluten Free options made this a good choice for us. Generous portions were more than we could finish so we skipped dessert but there were nice choices.

Great Place for Groups

By lbauman2018 |

For the second year in a row, I took a group of chaperones and students here for a pre-show dinner while on a field trip to NYC. The staff is gracious and the food delicious. It is a great place to slow down, unwind, and get ready for a show.

Cozy & Delicious for the Whole Family

By apackage |

We took our 11 year old daughter here for dinner during a quick family trip to NYC for dinner & a couple of shows. We were staying at the Cambria (very nice) so we stopped at the nearby Ceci for dinner. It was a warm and cozy interior, with sumptuous food and a nice wine list. The bread at the table was delicious, home-baked with good olive oil, and the various salads and starters were good (including tender calamari). For my entree I had the lasagna, which was amazing - rich and homemade; i ate the whole thing though I hadn't intended to. My husband had seafood risotto with tomato sauce; he liked it (and ate it) but thought the rice a little too al dente. Our daughter ordered her first fettucini alfredo and thought it was very yummy. We had a couple of desserts, the lemon meringue tartlet and the chocolate cake, both of which got thumbs' up though they were not the strong point of the meal. Our server was attentive and in general the staff were very welcoming and friendly. It was nearly empty on a Friday night at 7:30, for what that's worth.

First Time

By Sam M |

First time dining in restaurant food good minestrone soup excellent pasta dishes well presented and prepared. Only draw back it's a bit expensive for what you get compared to other restaurants in the area They also add on service charge when you get the bill don't explain this. The restaurant is a bit on the we side you can hear other people talking at the next table. Also don't do steaks. In saying that I would go back.

Girls night out

By paulao1215 |

I was searching for a place for prix fixe near the theater district as we were getting together to catch up and see a play. Found this lovely restaurant on 46 Street close to 6th Avenue. All three of us enjoyed a wonderful Italian meal. I had the lentil soup which was out of this world and the salmon which was superb. Another girlfriend had salad and the chicken dish which I wad told the chicken was so moist and juicy. My other girlfriend had a different kind of salad plus the salmon. Needless to say we wiped our plates clean. I'm usually not a bread fan but the bread was also delicious. We were so impressed by this restaurant that we will definitely go back again. They did not rush us out in fact we had to ask for the check so we can make the play. Would definitely recommend

Very Pleasant Surprise

By BRTiger1212 |

With my family (total of 4) were ambling around midtown when suddenly the fam says they are starving and want Italian, we happen to run into this little jewel of a place. It is small and narrow with a small bar to the right that lines the wall. Employees were very welcoming and seated in 5 minutes on a rainy Saturday night. We stuck with basics such as spaghetti, lobster ravioli, and lasagna. All were hot and delicious. Perfect portions and fresh. Also, forgot to say the house salad was also excellent. Ended the evening with cappuccino that was top notch. My oldest daughter made me do a review to state it was the best ravioli and white sauce she ever had.

Tasty Italian Treat

By Georgesec |

I stopped here for dinner while working in the city. I had not been here before and found the atmosphere to be very pleasant and the folks in the restaurant helpful and service focused. The food was great, the lasagna delicious and filling!

Nice Dinner After Show

By James S |

We went to early dinner after a show. We had a 5:15 reservation and sat right down. It is a long narrowish place but seating was good for four. It was rather crowded when we left and some of the seating for two across from us looked right. Plus, there were some high tops in front of the bar that looked pretty crowded. Food was very good from a nicely varied but not voluminous menu. A really good selection with something for everyone. The waitress was good but not especially attentive - support staff was very good with water, serving, cleaning up. Prices were good for NYC.

Great food and great atomosphere

By frank222r |

Since it was close to our hotel decided to eat here on our firs night in NYC. Better than I expected. My wife loves lasagna and she said it was the best she had ever tasted. I had the Fettuccine Alfredo and it was excellent. Had a bottle of Chianti, Poggio Argentale. It was also excellent. Excellent service and unlike many restaurants was not noisy. Was the best meal we had on our trip. Will definitely go back when in town.

Great food and location

By Dwayne S |

My son and I stopped in NYC for a night and stayed at Times Square. Was in the mood for some Italian food, googled restaurants nearby and found the Ceci Italian Restaurant. It was a Monday night and we were able to reserve a table on Open Table (I suspect weekends are much busier so you might want to reserve further ahead). The staff are great! We had a drink at the bar and the bar tender charged my phone for me while we were sitting. They have a great wine selection and we enjoyed a very good Chianti. We split a calamari classic for an appetizer and my son had the pollo marsala and I had the veal alla sorrentina...both were delicious. So many places to choose from in The City but Ceci is very well located if you are there for a show or just strolling Times Square, the staff are great and the food is outstanding. You won't be disappointed.

Peaceful & excellent food!

By Tom B |

Went here on a Saturday night, seated without delay and set about looking through the menu. Making a decision was hard as there was so much on the menu I fancied! Settled on Mussels for starter and Sausage Gnocchi for mains, there was more than enough Mussels (the quality was still there as well as quantity) and the gnocchi was so soft & delicious. The pasta stood up to dishes I've had in Italy. We were the last ones left in but weren't made to feel rushed or unwelcome at all. The head waiter/manager even held the door open and wished us well on our exit. Definitely recommend if you like your pasta's & seafood.

Best Gluten Free Restaurant in Times Square

By Laurie044 |

My daughter has Celiac Disease and finding A restaurant in Times Square (especially a high quality Italian place) is nearly impossible. When we found this place, we fell in love and ate there 2 nights in a row on our 3 night trip. She had ravioli the first night and pizza the second night. They even had gluten free bread. We’ve never been served gluten free bread in a restaurant. The service was incredible and I would come back here again and again.

great food

By Tina K |

visited with family and enjoyed great food, no real atmosphere though but this may have been because it was a Tuesday evening

Food Is Excellent

By sonOH |

I was looking for an Italian restaurant after the museum on a Friday night. I did not have reservations but was able to be seated rather quickly. The menu had a lot of great choices. My dinner was really good. The service was great. I would definitely go back.

Good Food & Location

By W-Hartford_CT |

There are many, many Italian restaurants throughout the theater district. Ceci was one of the better ones. Good atmosphere with friendly staff. A satisfying variety of choices, which include individual pizzas if you are not in the mood for a regular meal. As someone who takes the train into Grand Central station the location, between 5th and 6th Avenues also gives it high marks.

Delicious italian

By Joanne |

Made a reservation for the same night we booked. Arrived 1 hour early and were seated within 20 minutes. Friendly staff, and fast service. Yes it's a small restaurant but the food was delicious. As a full blooded Italian, I can honestly say the sauce was delicious. Definitely home made.

Really good Italian food

By AnaMartaFidalgo |

Really good Italian food in a quiet place! I would definitely recommend this restaurant, as the food is simply delicious and it’s placed in the heart of New York City, really close to Times Square. However, even if it’s located in a very crowded area, you get to have a relaxed and peaceful environment inside the restaurant. You must not miss the deserts as well. One of the best tiramisu I have ever tried! Prices are fair for the quality provided, would surely go back!

A bismal

By Kate F |

Booked online after reading good reviews online. We ordered starters yet one came out 20mins before the other. The waiter disappeared for 15mins at a time down the other end, when asked another waitress for assistance she wasn't interested. My partner ordered a mozzarella dish expecting a ball of mozzarella which was in fact a toasted sandwich with mozzarella. I ordered the calamari horrid tasteless the sauce was vile. My main was cheese pasta..which chicken was added too not by me. I do not eat chicken but as its xmas I thought I wouldn't mention this to not offend the waiter. The pasta was dry horrid to be honest no taste at all and I tried to avoid any pasta with chicken. My partners main was pizza. It came out tiny, you could tell it was frozen by the lines on the bottom and it was soggy. He ate around the edges. The best bit of the meal was the chips. Crazy as the restaurant had a great buzz and busy queues. I wouldn't recommend it tbh. A shame as we expected so much from the reviews.

Very average.

By SLM_Malta |

Good food, but overall experience for me was average. Typical Italian cuisine but missed that touch that makes you feel that you are in a Italian restaurant

Very good food, professional staff

By ELJ59 |

I've dined at Ceci a number of times before, but never solo. However, since it is a favorite of ours for visits to the city, especially on trips to the theater, I took a chance and made a luncheon reservation for one. I was pleasantly surprised. Not only was the food as delicious and as attractively presented as always, but the waitstaff were friendly and accommodating. They made me feel at ease, did not rush me, and were attentive and welcoming. I worried that as a woman dining alone, this might not be the case, but it turned out to be a very nice experience.

Delicious and great service

By Johanna Z |

Wonderful servers, great service and amazing food! I would return any time... the place has a fantastic atmosphere, great music...

Okay

By sedona |

The staff ignored us a couple times, while we were waiting for the other party to arrive to be seated we asked if we could order drinks and they said yes, then never came back. I asked for a glass of water at least 3 times before they actually got it. We waited a long time for food and then the food is in quite small portions and not very tasteful.

Very enjoyable Italian

By HikerGerro |

Googled earlier in the day to find a restaurant near Rockerfella centre and Ceci came up in the search, we were holidaying from Ireland. I booked a table x 3 online and got an instant acknowledgement. When we arrived we were immediately show to our table at the back of the restaurant. Service very good, we had a couple of questions and the server answered them. Food was really lovely, service very good, couldn’t fault anything in the casual dining restaurant. When I visit NYC again I will definitely put this on my list to come back to.

Calamari overload!,

By Tracy S |

Lovely food, husband had calamari to start and the portion that came out could have been a main meal !!! Was lovely though, cooked to perfection, not greasy or chewing which can sometimes be the case. For main he had risotto Pesci, again very generous with the fish !!! And more calamari. I had meatballs for a main and they were meaty, tasty and the tomatsauce had a nice spice to it.

Great Italian in a Nice Cozy Atmosphere

By kprn |

We stumbled upon this restaurant completely by accident, but it was definitely a find! I was very excited that they had so many Gluten-free options on their menu!

Good food, great location to theater.

By KL185 |

First time visit was dinner after a show -- picked the restaurant for convenient location plus online reviews. Pleased with the food and service. Seemed to attract larger groups -- maybe visitors to NYC. We were a two with a table that was away from the hustle-bustle. Pork osso bucco with risotto was huge and excellent. I had the chicken Castelli (artichoke hearts, mushrooms in a brown sauce with a touch of tomato) with penne and the same sauce -- tasty and plentiful. Wine prices are reasonable. I would go back when I'm in the area.

Family holiday trip

By kvfegan |

I picked Ceci’s based upon reviews and proximity to our hotel! They actually seated us early and in spite of a mistake with the reservation. The food was superb and the service was excellent! Everyone enjoyed their meal! My husband said the sea bass was the best he ever had! The atmosphere was warm and cozy! All in all a great find and we would definitely go back!

late night

By Wayne F |

Late night dinner, coming from theater (Kinky Boots was great). Staying at the Cambria and on same block as Ceci Italian rest. Was a quarter to ten and they closed at ten. Asked if we could get a quick bite, insisted we come in for dinner, would be no problem, got friendly and great service and equally good food. They kept the full staff until we were done around ten thirty, Would like to thank them for their gracious hospitality and a delightful meal and a great bottle of French wine!

Nice little Italian Spot

By surgtech16rn |

Yummy Food! Speedy service! Affordable!! Tried the flatbread pizza, Chicken Parmigiana and the Lobster Ravioli!! All decent portion sizes with great flavor! Great for couples or families! Nice little Bar area too.

Its not as good as I was told but I wont say it was NOT good. I left my plate empty. Sardis is where I want to try next time.

Typical Good New York Italian

By Rodney G |

Local restaurant across the street from our hotel. . Went for a quick dinner on Monday night. They were busy but accommodated us in a small area in the front. Service was friendly and quick. Drinks were good, food was good, prices were reasonable. what more can you ask for in the city of New York?

Good Dinner

By Ty B |

My friend and I enjoyed dinner prior to a play at Schubert Theater on a Friday night. I had a tasty rigatoni dish and she had ravioli. It was a good meal, relatively well priced and the service was fine. The bread was hot and tasty, too. Well located. Would recommend.

Delicious!!

By SydKaty |

We visited Cecis on a Friday night. Reservations through Open Table were a breeze. We got there early for our 7pm reservations and were seated without issue. Gorgeous and quaint basement area. The service was fantastic. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly. The chicken and grilled vegetables were a perfect portion and the pasta special was very much enjoyed. The waiter was fantastic. Asked if we needed to get out for a show - no- so we were not rushed to leave and took our time to enjoy the meal and atmosphere. Highly recommend !!

amazing

By Barak A |

amazing restuarant and great food. we enjoyed the Lasagna, the revioli in pink sauce and the fettuccini alfredo. great service. warm and welcoming. the only problem is that it's really loud, probably a problem with the place's acoustic... also the 18% gratitude is too much. overall we recomend .

Authentic Italian food!

By Douglas Ivanauskas |

We were in 5 people. The couvert bread was the best I've ever eaten. Warm and soft. The ambient is cozy, but pretty small. The menu has a good variety, even for kids. The location is perfect if you're near to Times Square. Some plates can be shared. I would come back for sure!

A little bland

By m w |

Each of us ordered fettuccine Alfredo to go. Order was a little bland, not quite enough sauce and no garnish or side dishes except a fresh roll. Small side of grated parmesian cheese. Roll was light and tasty. There are probably better dishes to try. Was just ok from all respects

Just not Italian and not good

By sofia s |

I'm Italian and I usually never go to Italian restaurants abroad because most of the times they are simply bad. I had almost no choice as I had a booking at top of the rock in 1 hour and there are no good places to eat around. The photos did not seem so bad and most reviews were good too so I decided to give it a try. It was a very bad decision. There was no one speaking Italian (which is always a bad sign) and most of the plates in the menu do not exist in Italy, I can assure you. I had a spaghetti allo scoglio with seafood that just tasted like nothing. My mum had a sort of parmigiana di melanzane (eggplants) that was just too heavy and the cheese was far from being mozzarella. Only "good" choice was the caesar salad which is not Italian, obviously. Just don't go there if you want real Italian or just eating well.

Delicious food

By kimm343 |

Found this quiet dark restaurant just walking by to our hotel. Reviews were good so we thought it looked good. We were right. We had pasta, steak and bloody Mary’s. Food was delicious and staff was attentive. Will definitely go back.

Great Italian restaurant

By Leonard_vd_Heyden |

My daughter and I booked dinner at Ceci. Excellent choice. Great food and wine list, courteous and welcoming staff, intimate ambiance, and relatively inexpensive by NY standards.

Excellent

By KathyJx |

We had no reservations and almost no wait time for a party of 7. Food was excellent and they even sang to my son for his birthday. Lobster ravioli was superb.

Quiet, quaint, quality

By Jww1962 |

Quite part of town and quite in the restaurant, quaint small setting, nice decor, quality food and service. Everyone in our family enjoyed the meal.

Lunch and a play

By Keith B |

Excellent. Got there just before noon. They were not quite ready but were apologetic. Showed us to our table ( we had a reservation although appeared to be not necessary). We picked Ceci as it was very cold and their location is a short walk from Grand Central on the way to the Theatre. Roasted Peppers with anchovies appetizer was excellent as were the succulent lamb chops. Wife had minestrone soup and salmon. Soup was really good. Fresh vegetables. Large! Desert, chocolate lava cake, and a cannoli wee equally as good. Don’t miss the drinks. Some great mixology going on here.

Nice little lunch time spot!

By Mark W |

Really fancied an Italian for lunch, we were on 5th Avenue and decided to choose Ceci based on TripAdvisor reviews. Wasn’t disappointed, food was very good and service was good although we were the only ones there when we arrived!

Best italian food we had in New York

By Sarah G |

This place had the best steak, really good fried calamari and super pasta! It was a little hot inside but I would definitely go back!

Family get together

By SueMike2018 |

We had a large party that was planned with Diego and in the wine room. The service was excellent from start to finish. It was a great option for us, as we saw a show and then walked to the restaurant for an early dinner. We had a set menu for choices for the entree and it was for a lot of picky eaters! Everyone enjoyed it and the food was great.

Great Italian food with great service

By Ira L |

This small ( and easily missed) restaurant between 6th and 5th is a real neighborhood gem. Great food, with delicious pasta, main courses and desserts. Service is friendly but unobtrusive. Nice wines by the glass and a small, reasonably priced wine list. Small room, reservations recommended. Family friendly

Perfect Dining Experience near TQ

By aplamo |

HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Quaint, lovely restaurant between Times Square and Rockefeller Plaza. Wonderful atmosphere, good service, and superb food. All four dishes were outstanding - particularly the carbonara and the amatriciana. We Will absolutely return.

A surprise..

By Robin H |

This restaurant was the first location to which my wife and I had dinner on our first night in New York. We were seated by the Head Waiter, ordered house wine and a beer, and decided to share a specific dish. With same we ordered garlic toast which would be a normal requirement in an Italian restaurant. Both our pasta and garlic toast arrived, each was as we asked was loaded with garlic. The toast had parmacen cheese melted into the toast. We toasted our first night and thanked the receptionist from the Hotel at Times Square for recommending a good adventure.

Fantastic italian restaurant

By neenMaroochydore |

Ceci is an Italian restaurant close to our accommodation at the Cambria Hotel. It was the best meal that we had in our 7 night stay in New York. We enjoyed it so much that we went back a second time. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The service was excellent. Our favourites were the house specials the Sea Bass and the Pork Osso Bucco.

Pre dinner show

By harr0w_traveler |

We ate here on a Sunday night. The food my wife and I had was good and the prices were reasonable for being in the theatre district. Service was very good, it was a hot day and my water was never empty for long. Overall it was a nice quiet spot that isn't tightly packed with people with good food.

Average Italian Fare

By Vanessa V |

We ordered a chicken dish with eggplant and got something completely different but it was okay. The beet and goat cheese salad was quite good and the bread was great. We were sitting at a table for two and asked them to divide the meal were sharing in the kitchen. They brought it out with separate plates and we had to send it back to divide as there just wasn't enough room to do it. We waited fifteen minutes for the food to come out again. Needless to say it had been sitting under the heat lamps.......Someone just wasn't paying attention and it was not a pleasant experience. The dessert sorbet was great!

Great food reasonable prices

By kantbyluv |

Small cozy restaurant reasonable prices that won’t break your bank! Food was delicious and good portions.

Nice place, but very narrow and a bit noisy...

By davidspadina |

Good italian restaurant, but not so roomy and very busy. We spent a nice time there, enjoying good pizzas and spaghetti. Nothing exceptional and rather pricy.

Poor service, nice location.

By Lukas M |

We were attracted by the offer $5 per beer. Sadly nothing was like promised. We said at the begin we just want to grab a beer. The manager didn't understood me. Furthermore, it seemed to bother him that we were his guests. He seated us at a great table. In general, the restaurant has a great decor. But as we wanted to order, the waiter was quite rough. He ment if we just want to grab a beer we need to seat at the bar. The manager seated us at the table, it was not our decision to sit there. We changed to the bar and enjoyed our beer. We wanted to pay and the process took ages. The bartender was slow and didn't paid attention. All in all, we only can complain about the poor service and expensive beer ($8). The food seemed to be very good.

good food

Our party of three was served promptly and all of our meals were very good and hot. We went before attendance at a play. It was priced reasonably. I would recommend!

Yummy

By Roanna B |

I recently went here late in the evening. The people were very quick to take my order. Friendly workers. The pizza was tasty. It was across from my hotel so that was very convenient. The area I was in was clean. I had takeout! I would go here again.

great food. excellent service for large group

we shared appetizers and enjoyed them. i had veal scallopine which was yummy. service was excellent. perfect place for gathering and highly quality italian food.

Ceci - Bellissimo

By Brad L |

Ceci is a small family owned style of restaurant. An absolute must in a world of paper plates and prepackaged gumph. The restaurant staff is friendly and the atmosphere at lunch was bustling and busy. I would highly recommend this as a get away in the Center of midtown.

Dinner

Awesome weeknight dinner. I had the Ravioli, blush sauce was very good. Wife had veal, tender and tasty! Traditional Italian done in a great atmosphere!

Good Italian restaurant

By rubisdelaforet |

Good Italian restaurant in the heart of Manhattan, we had dinner and lunch, both meals were of identical quality, if you pass by there, you can stop there without problem

Wouldn’t recommend - better choice out there.

By Aleximo1965 |

Booked this place based on reviews in another site. Wish I’d checked here first as this wasn’t a good experience. Food is below average; ambience isn’t good. Staff were so-so. And it cost just under $100 for a bottle of water; two mains and two (really awful - weak and tasteless) Americano coffees. And they auto-added an 18% gratuity which I just hate!!!!!!! My advice - go elsewhere.

This should not be a consideration for good Italina

By AZ-Traveler85253 |

Walked in on a Saturday night at 8pm and there was only one other couple there- first red flag. The entire restaurant smelled like dirty sewage water and metal. After being seated in the back, we decided to try an appetizer to test the waters-mozzarella sticks and some bread. The bread was clearly frozen and tossed in the oven for a few minutes, but was still freezer burned. The mozzarella sticks were yellow- a weirdly colored yellow. Not homemade in any world- 100 percent from a frozen bag for $11. Had to risk it and try entrees. Ordered vodka pasta and a flatbread pizza. Not hard to taste canned sauce and boxed pasta- for $23/!! Pizza was inedible. Unbelievable that this could be produced in the greatest city in the world for pizza. It was slimy, greasy and everything fell off when you took a slice. We were done. Offered to pay for the appetizer since we ate them, but said the food was gross and we weren't eating it. Server was apologetic and nice- but nothing he could do. The owner was actually there, but did not have the wherewithal to come over to the table to see what the issue was. Too many good restaurants in NYC to put up with this. Either care about the product you push out or maybe think about switching cooks.

Excellent food and service

By Charles M |

Excellent service and food. Just didn’t like they rush us out near closing time by shutting down kitchen and bar area and turned lights off around us, it was only 945pm!

Great Food

Good find, excellent food and friendly service. Small place but don’t be put off. Worth it for the food.

OMG Gluten-Free Ravioli

By Deborah S |

We came here because there were gluten-free options. Little did we know how fantastic our meal was going to be. We had a delicious, light, crisp Caesar salad (sans croutons) with homemade dressing and the g-f ravioli with pink sauce. They melted in your mouth they were so delicious. Light, thinner, tasty ravioli. (We don’t like thick doughy ravioli.) I think these were some of the best ravioli’s we ever had—couldn’t even tell they were g-f. Sorry for the Aug 2018 reviewer having a bad experience; ours was definitely the opposite. In fact we came at a later lunch time and it was very enjoyable and everyone was nice and attentive. We will be back even though we live out of state.

Good food, good service, decent prices

By LSUstew |

We stopped in a little late (around 8:30) on a Sunday evening and were seated right away. It took a few minutes for anyone to come by after that, but just when we were about to get frustrated, our server came over and took our orders. There was a prix fixe option that we decided to go with which included salad, entree, and dessert for around $40 or so per person. We also ordered a bottle of wine and fried mozzarella. There was again a bit of a wait after we ordered before anything (including the wine) came out, but once the bottle arrived, the appetizer was almost right behind it and everything else moved at the right pace. The fried mozz was a bit of a shocker as it is basically a grilled cheese sandwich that's been pan fried. However, the cheese itself was good and the side of marinara was pretty tasty as well. The house made Caesar salad dressing was creamy and just the right level of salty. The rigatoni al forno was fantastic! Very cheesey with the perfect amount of sauce. And finally, the dessert...my husband ordered cheesecake and I got the tiramisu and both were delicious! Overall, we had a nice experience and would probably visit there again.

Cannot believe it

By Janet L |

I walked in at 5 pm on Sat April 2,2022 and ordered AND paid for takeout for pick up at 6 pm. When I returned at 6:05 I was told the chef was too busy and my order was cancelled. Hard to believe in a time when restaurants are struggling. My advice, don’t go there. The owner was not on site to complain to.

An affordble "GEM" in the heart of the theater district of New York

By Joe Z |

I had the opportunity to dine at this restaurant A friend brought to this restaurant.. It has great food and for New York great prices. You can get a wonderful lunch for Less than $15.00. . Hard to believe I know but believe me it was quite a deal not only for the price but for the quality . I had the Vodka Penne which I would highly recommend , but all of the other choices made by friends were equally delicious. While most dishes are a la carte, the amount of food given was more than enough to satisfy your hunger and palette. The ambiance was great and the staff was more than courteous and helpful. Don"t waste your hard earned money on "over inflated" prices for food just because you are in NEW YORK.. I returned to eat there several times and the food, and staff's attention given was the same at each visit. . .Check this place out.. I know you will not be disappointed.

Great meal pre-theater show

By hokie94 |

Enjoyable dining experience at Ceci's. Party of 4 tried the steak salad, lasagna, and ravioli. The steak salad and lasagna were very good and the ravioli was good. Ask to be seated in upstairs dining room, if possible.

Pre theater

By Joan C |

This is well prepared traditional Italian food. The wait staff were terrific. We had one person with celiac and they were very knowledgeable and well prepared to offer gf pasta and bread.

Great food and great service!

By Martine |

We had a wonderful time at this restaurant! The food was great and the people who worked there even better! As soon as our glasses with water were even close to being empty a server was there to refill them. The food was amazing, and they had plenty of gluten-free and vegan options to choose from, which was wonderful. I would wholeheartedly recommend this place to everyone who wants great food and great service!

A great place to eat and greet prior to Hello Dolly!

By Kathleen S |

This very authentic Italian restaurant serves quality reasonable food with great atmosphere great service and wonderful food. You can't miss when you eat here. You must have reservations far ahead of time but can book on Open Table. Will modify any meal for you it is just a fabulous experience.

A must for Italian Cuisine

By Alan |

Absolutely delicious Italian food! Seated for our 6:15 pm reservation promptly. (Would recommend reservations because restaurant is very small but cozy!) The service was excellent. The waitress was constantly checking on us to see what we needed. The food was some of the best Italian food I’ve ever had. We will visit it again!

food haven in midtown west

By jerseyjazz |

The pork osso bucco was outstanding, as tender as any I've had with veal or lamb. Enjoyed the Ceci salad--enough for 2 to share. My friend liked her sea bass. There's a small list of well-priced bottles of wine, too. Not a fancy place, but comfortable, quiet and with friendly service--all these things are hard to find in midtown these days. Great for pre-theater at Roundabout's 46th St venue, the Marquis, or others where you don't want to hike all the way to 9th Ave. Will definitely return. The bar looked like a good spot if you're dining solo.

Last minute choice!

By FrankDiB |

On our way to the christmas tree lighting at Rockafeller Center, we ducked into Ceci's restaurant. Go a great table at the window and proceeded to have a great meal. The pork shanks and the lobster raviolis were outstanding. Enjoyed the next table guests and would heartily recommend this place.

Great theatre district restaurant

By Dee P |

We were visiting New York with our three children and needed a place to eat before the theatre. Ceci was very good. We ordered Caesar salads and soup for apps. Caesar was good, not overly seasoned which I like. The minestrone was a little under seasoned but i liked it. We had chicken and sausage, lasagna (fantastic very flavorful), risotto (cooked perfect) , chicken parm (my son loved it) and fettuccine Alfredo. Dessert was also great. I personally thought everything was great at Ceci. I would definitely return. Our waitress was attentive and very pleasant. We had three courses and never felt rushed.

Good food!

By DDTDE |

We were hesitant upon entering the restaurant due to strange aroma but in the end the food was delicious and we were happy we stayed. While not that large of a restaurant our table was towards the back and comfortable. The prices were reasonable for NYC. We would definitely go back again when in the area.

Delicious food, great place

By Steven K |

Wee had dinner here after seeing Jersey Boys upon the recommendation of a family member who had eaten there. We found the food to be delicious and the atmosphere to be nice and quaint. It is not a big place which added to its charm. We did find it to be just a bit on the pricey side. Definitely worth a visit.

Good not Great Italian

By Joe H |

Food is fair, typical red sauce Italian restaurant. 5 of us dined here, no dish stood out. Staff seemed harried, even though it was not that busy. Not a fan of the tip already being added to the bill when presented to you.

Valentines Day pizza

By dlman265 |

My wife and I needed a little something to hold us over till our Valentines Day dinner. Ceci’s did the trick and then some. The pizza was personal sized and typical NYC thin crust but heavy on the cheese. Sweet sausage slices gave it just the right amount of spice. The goat cheese added a little flavor which just made it so hard not to eat the whole darn thing.

Good food, poor service

By Andrew C |

My partner and I dined here on the evening of my 40th birthday. The food was very good, with authentic Italian flavours. However, the service we received was pretty poor. We were asked if we were ready to order less than 2 minutes after being presented with the menu; plates were removed seconds after the last mouthful was eaten; and my entree was delivered to the table when I was only half way through eating my appetiser. When I told the waitress I was disappointed, she literally shrugged her shoulders and walked away. We had hoped for a nice relaxing meal for my birthday but left disappointed, feeling rushed by a restaurant that seemed keen to turn tables.

Very good Italian!!

Went on a Friday evening. Reservations are helpful. We ordered the pizza and spaghetti carbonara. Both were very good. The service was excellent. We will certainly be back and recommend for anyone who is visiting Time Square or Broadway!!

Great Italian Food in Midtown!

We stopped by Ceci Italian Cuisine for a late lunch, and we enjoyed our entrees and the attentive service. Food was good and prices were reasonable. The atmosphere was very comfortable and relaxed, and the decor gave it an authentic Italian feel! We were there at 3:30p, so the restaurant was not crowded at the time. However by 4:30p, customers began to flow in one after another, hinting to what must have been a busy night at Ceci!

Great menu, fantastic gluten free

By trkbrn535 |

We had 4 for lunch, pre theater, with one strict gluten free eater. The menu had lots of choices, including cheese ravioli, which was a GF hit! Tapas were fine, other choices better, service was diligent. Overall experience outstanding. Would definitely go back.

Very nice little Italian...

Followed Trip Advisor to Ceci Italian Cuisine. A very nice little Italian restaurant. Wife had shrimp scampi and I had fettuccini with Bolognese sauce. Both were very well prepared. Service was very attentive and efficient. Will recommend to all. Will return.

Mediocre Italian

Stopped in here while visiting the city. It is just off the beaten path and sort of smells like it. The rough exterior can be intimidating and we almost turned around. $14 for an 8” Pizza seems a little steep. We shared one as an appetizer And the less than fulfilling entrees left me still a little hungry. The taste was just fine. While dining, the bus staff kept spraying cleaner to clean the tables around us which was very unpleasant and cause several of us to cough when we tried to breathe. With tip the bill was $150 for the three of us. There are lots of choices in the city I suggest a different choice.

Lovely dinner

Browsed the local area and this place looked decent and had the best reviews from the 3 italian places I saw. Staff were very friendly and restaurant had a great atmosphere. Really good drink selection and food selection. Food was definately one of the highlights so far of our trip. I had porcuttio stuffed chicken and the wife had their special pasta with ricotta, mozzarella, truffle and pear. If we had more time would go back in a heart beat.

LOVE!

I have eaten at MANY Italian restaurants in the city but this is one of my favorites. And, I always save room for dessert which is the cannoli. They are great! Sometimes the service isn't real friendly but they are attentive.

Outstanding ambiance, try the lobster ravioli. Insalata di Cici. Great wine selection. Amazing service. Intimate setting which we prefer, in the heart of the tourist district where you don't expect to find an authentic, intimate restaurant.

... and stopped in with a group of 6 people after doing some browsing in the Diamond District. We didn't have a reservation but we lucked out and got the last table available. The old gentleman who greeted us was a bit gruff but the waitress who serviced our table was very polite and attentive. Our group ordered a mix of pizza's, pasta dishes and a number of drinks. The atmosphere was cozy, service was good as was the food.

Great for a Gluten Free

Great place for gluten free and pretheater meal! Very friendly service with a varied menu. Just far enough from busy tourist area!

After theater with the family

Very kind and prompt service and welcoming atmosphere. The gluten free pastas were a plus! We all had pasta dishes. Very good! Easy to get to after theater and not on TSq so it seems a bit quieter...

Fantastic Meal in the Heart of the City

We had the best experience at this restaurant. I have a hard time knowing where to start. One notable thing - we had 4 people with food allergies in our party of 5. One with Celiac, two with gluten allergy, one with dairy and two with nut allergies. No one had an issue at all with the food and everyone was so happy. The food was delicious. The person with celiac has to be so careful and they did not get sick at all! That is huge!. One person ordered the vegan lasagna and said it was amazing. I had just a regular pizza and it was fantastic. Another had a gluten free pizza and loved it. Truly the best experience and the service was excellent! Can't wait to go back!

Bad Experience

My wife and I went here with our daughters (2) and their friend (1). Only the kids needed to eat (my wife ate earlier) and since it was right across the street from the theater we just came out of, we figured it'd be a great place to eat. My wife and I ordered wine and we figured 2 dishes that the girls could share would be plenty to eat without wasting anything. We were promptly told that the restaurant doesn't allow sharing. We didn't want to order an extra entree that would likely get thrown out since we came in by train and had no way to bring it home, especially since we didn't want it. Frustrated at not being allowed to share we paid for our wine and left in a huff. By the way, we were the only table in the restaurant, nobody else was there. As soon as I walked outside my older daughter came running back yelling she forgot her iphone on the table. I went back in quickly and as I got back to our table, the waitress that told us we couldn't share was gathering our menus and check from the table and dropped something on the floor. My daughter ran in and grabbed her iphone from the waitress who had just dropped it on the floor and appeared to have been trying to steal it. Double no no for a restaurant we didn't actually get to eat at and will notbe giving a second chance to. There's a better Italian restaurant right across the street.

Cozy Italian place

This was my first experience in a NY restaurant so I wasn’t sure how pricey it would be. It indeed was and that’s why we had 2 small personal pizzas, a salad and 1 glass of wine for $60. It all was good and the atmosphere very nice while being quite small. The staff seemed to move very slow that night even though we were 1 of 2 couples in the place. I was put off a little by this and was disappointed with it. We seemed to be bothering them. I would return for other dishes now that I know what to plan on. I just hope the service is better.

Not bad

Went here since I really want some New York pizza and Italian. The bread and oil was really good in the beginning. I got a cheese sausage mushroom pizza and my husband got the fettuccine alfredo. The pizza was okay. A little disappointing. However my husbands pasta was really good. Wish there would have been chicken or shrimp on it. The waitress was super nice but it took a bit for her to come back and take orders and ask if we need boxes. Otherwise not bad
