Times square amazing find

By mumofcrazyboys |

Food and service outstanding. We had pho’s, rice and noodle salads, and the most amazing ribs! Just delicious! A hidden gem in New York!

Welcoming and delicious

By jodi m |

We had a group of students from Australia. Alex and his staff were great in accommodating us and the girls. The food was fresh and delicious. It is a small place but cosy. We love it here and will be back again.

Best Pho Ever

By Mary C |

Took grandkids to eat here and they loved it. We like Pho and this was the best I have ever had. The appetizers are so good. Try them all. The staff was fast and friendly. Had dinner there and it was busy but not crazy crowded. I recommend it if you like Vietnamese food. So worth it. Did not feel hurried at all.

Pholicious

By Lianne G |

Quick and friendly service with fresh and tasty food. Full of locals devouring Pho. Small and intimate eatery.

Very good pho noodles!

By FM S |

Fast service and quality food (the Pho noodles are delicious). Please note that it closes early (8 p.m. the kitchen on certain weekdays)

A wicked meal after Wicked

By MJLAustralia |

On a high after seeing Wicked the Musical, we were on the look out for something quick and tasty to curb the hunger pangs. We actually stumbled on Cha Pas by chance and everyone in our group of 6 was so happy with our good fortune. I had the seafood pho and it was chockablock full of seafood and fresh vegetables. Other dishes ordered included the rice paper rolls, the special combination pho and grilled chicken and lemongrass. The service was excellent, the servings hearty and, most importantly, the food was fresh, delicious and authentic. I would recommend this small, somewhat inconspicuous restaurant to any theatre goer in need of a pre or post show meal. In fact, don't wait for a show as an excuse to go.

Tasty, Simple and Snappy Service

By BusinessTrvlr |

I had the Super Bowl Pho. It was superb! I'm a big pho fan, so I've had a fair amount of pho in a fair amount of countries and restaurants. This was up there with the best. Service was snappy (mind you I was there early) and the decor simple yet elegant. I paid $10 for the Pho which I think is a bit on the higher side for pho (usually costs me $4 a $5), but it was delicious.

Yum!

Really really good food and friendly happy to help staff. Great veggie pho & baby bok choy.Hidden gem in NYC!

Still one of my favorite lunch places after four years

By Alicia C |

This was my first visit for lunch in about 4 years, and it was just as exceptional as I remembered. The lunch specials are perfect servings of amazingly flavored food at super reasonable prices. The coconut curry noodle soup is one of my fav dishes! OH MY GOD the flavor is off the charts. The spring rolls are really good too. So many amazing dishes await you at Cha Pa's!

Favorite Vietnamese Food in NYC

By Kevin N |

Having grown up with Vietnamese food, it was hard to live in NYC without much access to it. Cha Pa's definitely solved that problem. The Vietnamese sandwiches (bahn mi) are consistently delicious (try it with shrimp!) The pho noodle soups are perfect for a cold evening. And the Vietnamese coffee is heavenly. Perfect for before or after the theater.

Great Vietnamese Food - Reasonable prices

By JHINAP |

Nice place good location near a bunch of bars in Hell's Kitchen. Well prepared food, nice pleasant service and decent prices. Good stuff.

What the PHO?!

By Matt L |

Hands down! The best bowl of pho I've eaten! I ordered the Super Bowl, with a mixture of beef, meatballs, and seafood, absolute paradise! I strarted the experience with some shrimp summer rolls, with a fresh peanut sauce. I'll definitely be coming back. The order was quick, the food arrived in a matter of minutes, piping hot and with a side of fresh basil, jalapenos and sauces. I couldn't put down my stix!

Favourite restaurant experience

By Chanel P |

Favourite restaurant experience in NY The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere and the staff are very friendly The drink prices were great! Cocktails $7 (costs more for a pint everywhere else) and during happy hour 4-8pm beer is only $4 and wine $5 Ordered the spring rolls, crispy octopus and beef pho, all were really delicious and served quickly. Would definitely return and would recommend to everyone

A restaurant trying its best to introduce Vietnamese cuisine

By Ntee6603 |

For Vietnamese expats visiting NYC with non Vietnamese friends making the reservation for a family dinner get-together, we would be hard-pressed to recommend Cha Pa's: the Vietnamese dishes did not get the correct ingredients, e.g. the beautiful and delicate Pho noodle soup has cumin as spice (overwhelming the delicate beef flavor) instead of ginger and five-spice pwder. The Papaya salad, Vietnamese crispy spring rolls, the Vermicelli bowl with different meats were acceptable. Service was super friendly and fast, the beer was cold and good (try the Laos dark brown beer).

Yummy Noodles

By Max D |

This is a great lunch or late lunch spot for delicious Vietnamese noodles that you normally need to go to Chinatown to get but who knew you can get them here in midtown? They close somewhat early so may not be best dinner place but perfect for a pre-show snack. I normally like to eat after a show so not sure why most restaurants close so early here. The ordering process might be hard for some ppl who are new here or bad with tech but you basically scan the barcode for menu/web site and order from site. You even pay on their site so you can literally not talk to anyone here, eat and leave which is a bit weird but I kinda like it. The house noodles are quite different because you get a bone-in piece of beef that you need to slice off. Just Pho itself, there are many varieties here, Will come back again,

Thank GOD Ippudo was closed.

By Chris Bacani |

We stumbled upon this little place after learning that Ippudo was closed to prepare for dinner rush. Thank god we did. The food was amazing, the staff was very personable and friendly and happy to make recommendations. It had a great vibe going about it. Cheap (ish) drinks. I had Pho the first time I came here (well I mean it WAS 4ºF outside.) Second time around I had a Steak Vermicelli bowl (nice, and light. Good food for a summer day). It's right in Hell's Kitchen next to the theatre district so if you're thinking of getting something quick and tasty before a show I recommend it. That's what we did before watching Wicked in January and Chicago last week. If you're sight seeing it's also a hop and a skip away from Rockefeller Center and Radio City if you're looking for good food without the crowds. Highly recommend. They do get busy though during lunch but even then it's not to unreasonable of a wait.

Great spot for lunch or dinner

By Zim L |

I always like their Bahn Mi sandwich, the baguette is perfectly flaky and crispy, the grilled pork is delicous. Also the 5 spice chicken dish is always good and I love the passionfruit green tea ice tea

Outstanding Vietnamese food

By Bill D |

Cha Pa's is a small, quaint restaurant in Hell's Kitchen district near Times Square. The food is fresh and fantastic. I found this place on a cold drizzly day while looking for some good comfort food and tried their Pho. I had their Phenomenon Pho. The name says it all. It was Phenomenal. The sandwiches and apps looked great also. Service is fast, friendly and attentive to your needs. If you love Asian food, you won't be disappointed

pretty good pho 3.5

By Jon E |

nice little place near the theatre district. pho broth was a little bland. good service and great value

Great food

By Tatev A |

Tried the classic beef pho — flavorful broth, well-cooked meat, and fresh toppings on the side. Also ordered a grilled chicken rice plate which was tasty and nicely presented. Friendly service and clean, comfortable setting. Recommended.

Taste of VietNam

By Elle42002 |

Serves the best pho I've had outside of southeast Asia. The fresh ingredients and personable wait staff make this a go-back-to restaurant in the City.

Good choice for a reasonable but delicious sit-down meal

By Nerad |

I was looking for a quieter restaurant away from the glitz of Times Square and this fit the bill. A good number of selections to choose from - I opted for stir fry over the Pho but judging by the fellow guests reaction, they enjoyed. I had an order of Gyoza to start - worth it. I was almost tempted to order 3 or 4 appetizers for dinner instead.

Great food, inexpensive, great service.

By crapschick |

The hubby and I met there for lunch during the week and we must have gotten there at the right time because after sitting 20 minutes I looked at the door and there was a huge line. I had a pork sandwich and it was so good I'd get it again if I went there tomorrow. The hubby got a grilled chicken noodle platter that was delicious. We started talking to the people next to us and they agreed everything was delicious. You also get plenty of whatever you order. This is a great find.

great pho soup

By Viper19682014 |

Stopped in here on a cold day in April while visiting NYC. Service was prompt and the food was excellent. My daughter proclaimed it the best pho soup she has had to date. They gave us two egg rolls and some tasty coleslaw as appetizers.

Top, good value for money.

By Bérengère F |

Simplicity, very good value for money, Fast and efficient service, Watch out that day they stopped serving around 8:00.

Food is Ok, Service could use some improvment

By qbanredlynk |

Ordered via online and my order arrived after about an hour wait. I declined to add the tip when processing my payment online via this website for my online order; because tips are based on level service and should not be assumed as earned. You have to work for your tip. I assumed like with all of my other deliveries that I would have the opportunity to add tip to my cc transaction and I was wrong; something I apologized to the delivery guy for. The delivery guy got pissed; balled up my paper order and jammed it in my bag in a very unprofessional manner. He clearly deserved not 1 dime of the potential tip I was prepared to add to my cc transaction. This business clearly doesn't deserve my business if they're delivery guys represent them in this very manner. I expect someone from ChapasNYC to follow up... order# 2480646 1:22pm 8/10/2015 Beef Pho & Beef Vietnamese Sandwich

Vietnamese Gem

By Sanju R |

Here is a great Vietnamese gem near theater district. After trying a few Pho soups around town, i still keep coming back here for the spicy lemongrass Pho soup which hits the spot every time like i want to drown myself in it. the restaurant is small , but produces delicious ethnic treats. A wide and very well put together menu. Most things i have tried here have been outstanding - even simple side sauces are delightful. Fresh ingredients, pleasant surroundings and prices are very reasonable by NYC standards. During my visits there , I see many young Vietnamese people come for a meal so you know it's good. You will walk away fully satisfied, and you wallet not empty. Pho is a plentiful serving , with delights in every bite. Unfortunately the service does not back the fabulous food. Service is mediocre at best. Unfriendly staff, just doing a job, and no interest in the customer. Quite unlike Asian hospitality that abounds in South East Asia, these folks are really unhappy to see you ! If you do not care for good service, but want a giant bowl of amazing Pho at a reasonable price in a nice environment , then this is the place for you. The restaurant as a whole, appeared to be very clean - even the restrooms.

Loved the pho!

By Shradha P |

We stumbled upon this place when the Japanese place next door had a long wait. Decided to try Cha Pas and we were certainly not disappointed! Being a Pho lover I have tried Pho in a lot of places and this experience is in the top few. We ordered the chicken and vegetable pho and both were fantastic. Service was quick, food was hot and flavorful! Would definitely revisit on my next trip!

I really almost DIED....

By JCW703 |

The pho was so good and I could not stop eating it- I was so miserably full afterwards, but it was WORTH it! Great pho. I would skip the pho rolls though, save your appetite for the main course.

Pretty good Pho

By RWG7777 |

I've had many different types of Pho and this was a good attempt. Something was missing in mine to really help set it apart, but overall it was good. I think the restaurant started to get busy right as we arrived and perhaps that affected things. Worth a taste.

Quick, affordable and just delicious!

By lnwyd |

We had thoughts of a bowl of noodles at a different restaurant, but the line there, and at the back-up choice, were intimidating. We had walked past Cha Pas along the way, so returned and saw several open tables. (By now it was about 6:00 on a Saturday evening). Cha Pas is a Vietnamese restaurant, a cuisine I don't think either of us has ever had. (Yeah, we're country bumpkins!) We were seated, a perfectly delightful server appeared with beaming smile and menus. We ordered Happy Buddha beers, a "shaken steak" (beef served on a bed of watercress) and a vegetable pho in beef broth. It was all excellent. We even (mostly) finished the entire meal. (I couldn't quite slurp off all the pho. Really big bowl.) I loved the sweet fragrance of what I am pretty sure was five-spice powder. The vegetables were all crispy-tender. A small dish of bean sprouts, couple slices of jalapeno pepper and some green leaves that I couldn't ID but were pungent and yummy came separately so that they wouldn't get soggy. Other diners looked so young! College kids maybe, twenty-somethings. But we loved the place and it has joined the list of preferred restaurants for next time we are back in the City.

Late night snack

By DWUK |

Pleasant surprise and find. The Chicken Pho, spring rolls and chicken wings filled the gap. Tucked away on the east side of 52nd and 8th, it was a small gem tucked away. Was busy but the tasty pho was just what was needed. Price pretty good, 2 people starter and main and green tea $40. Nice all round.

Surprised

By Scott L |

It is a small, clean, comfortable, modern rustic, lovely designed and friendly restaurant, Our food did not take long for all courses got to our table. All our meals were great and good, I had the Special PHO noodle soup, and it hit the spot for me,it was a cool and windy day.

Great Pho - Drafty Door

By Neil B |

Excellent friendly fast service. Simply menu with very tasty pho. Avoid the tables close to the door in winter, as they are very cold. Great value overall.

Good, easy and warm

By HolidayBlues1 |

Great food, pleasant service and a very reasonable price. A random gem of a restaurant close to our hotel and within easy reach of the subway. We went back and it was just as good the second time.

Finally an excellent Vietnam place for vegetarian and vegan options

By SteGlu |

We ordered 3 vegg choices. Summer roles. Dunplings and Pho. Excellent without doubt. You may know that Pho usually is a beef or chicken based broth with all those wonderful ingredients. This one was vegan and amazingly tasteful. Thats rare. Kudos to the chef Superb service. We will be back for sure

Pho is superb

By annecordelia |

The pho is amazing. Also loved the shrimp and mango salad. Reasonable prices. Visiting New York and had to go back during visit, it was so good. Also, the people were very friendly both times. I highly recommend it.

Authentic Vietnamese food

By Giacomo T |

I visited Cha Pa’s twice and I enjoyed it both times very much. I had beef and vegetable pho and both were incredibly good! Good ingredients and portions. I suggest to try the black rice pudding (dessert) and their Vietnamese coffee.

Good hot soup on a cold day

By imskimmy |

Only seated when full party has arrived. Lunch specials are pretty good! Menu covers cold and hot dishes - vermicelli, pho, rice dishes, spring rolls. The table closest to the door does get a bit of a draft on chillier days but they set up a small portable heater nearby.

Worth the walk

By SunDogandCompany |

Simple and serene whether you are dining alone on a business trip or with friends. Great quaiity Vietnamese/Asian dishes. I had the Beef Pho and the Chicken Pho. (Two seperate trips.) These are basically noodle bowls, but the seasoning is sublime. Very nice portion sizes. I would also recommend the Spring Rolls. They were fresh, crunchy, and filled with a delicious mix. This place is between 8th and 9th so a little way off the Times Square/Broadway route but so worth it to get away from all the chain restaurant mediocrity.

Good Food, very near Theatres, limited seating

By RichardinOhio |

We found this place by accident, leaving a performance on W. 52nd Street. It is very small, with limited seating and we got the last table for four they had. Many people followed us in and had to sit at a narrow counter next to the wall, waiting for a table. The service was excellent, the house wine on happy hour was decent, and the food was very good. I had grilled salmon over vegetables, our son had the clay pot with shrimp and both were well prepared. The brown rice was overcooked and gummy. We were there an hour and a half and it was constantly full, with many Vietnamese eating there (a good sign). The only real drawback, as another reviewer suggested, is that they need a better entry, as when the door was opened, we constantly had a cold blast through the restaurant.

Great food

By Alison M |

Food was fantastic and fresh. Atmosphere great and service spot on. We loved this meal and would highly recommend. It’s a small restaurant so if you have to wait to get a table, it’ll be worth it!

Pho with good vibes

By Raymond W |

Family was craving pho and this was the closest to our hotel so thought to give it a try. Not sure what to expect but it turned out great. Both the pho and ban mi were very good and especially the ban mi which seemd to be even better than the ones we had in Hanoi. For dessert the black rice pudding is definitely a great finish with it served warm and topped off by coconut cream and seasme. The pho came with bean sprouts, mint leaves and jalapenos and it would‘ve been even better if they had freshly cut red chili (it’s a big ask!). Just note that the place has a small frontage so could be easy to miss.

Good Food, Good Price

By Amy C |

This is a very cute, small restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. The food was tasty and there were plenty of small plates to share. The best part of the meal were the $4 beers. If you want to try a local Vietnamese restaurant, this is definitely worth it.

Very tasty

By DeborahandAndy |

Our selections were delicious: traditional pork sandwich, dipped sandwich (bowl of gravy for dipping) and crab cake sandwich- very large baguettes! Tasty beef pho and yummy noodles and grilled pork! Very reasonable prices and good service

Lovely food

By rovingsteve |

Had a really nice meal here. Nice restaurant with a good offering. They have a fixed price menu or you can opt for the a la carte.

Under-impressed with the Pho

By Taylor G |

Surprised by all of the positive PHO reviews. The summer rolls tasted fine. I found the PHO to be inauthentic, cold and just off. The "chicken" in the chicken pho was just fat and rubbery parts of a mystery bird. There was an overwhelming amount of Bok Choy and cabbage...walked out paying $30 for two bowls of this. Not a fan and I suggest looking elsewhere to cure your pho craving.

Great food, good price.

By IPA_1968 |

We went to Cha Pas in the afternoon and had a great lunch with the family. The braised pork bacon with egg was savory and very filling, don't let the small bowl fool you. Our kids loved the apps, spring rolls/calamari/chicken skewers and the noodles were tasty. While the bulk of the menu may not be "authentic" Vietnamese, you can find pretty legit items on the menu and the savory Vietnamese spirit is evident in most of the food. I can't wait to go back to try some Ban Mi and Pho.

Tictok coffee flan dessert was a hit!

By Seana W |

Went in on a Friday night around 7:30 and had to wait a bit. Restaurant was full but tables come up fast! It was worth the 10-15 minute wait. Had the wonderful coffee flan dessert to finish and loved it!

Great Pho

By Zephion |

Was wanting a quick lunch with my son on a cold day and decided to find a restaurant serving pho. This restaurant was exactly what we wanted. Great staff, efficient service and very good pho.

Amazing Pho!

By Nickeeet12 |

Our bartender recommended this restaurant to us after we had asked about a different Vietnamese restaurant in the area. The place was packed and the food did NOT disappoint. We both got the Super Bowl and it was excellent. Would definitely visit again.

Delicious Lunch

By PWDGolfers |

Be prepared to wait for lunch, it is definitely worth it. I don’t think reservations are accepted, but there is take out. We enjoyed the chicken Pho, a noodle bowl and chicken lemongrass stir fry. Servings were large, prices were very reasonable for the city and most importantly everything was delicious. Everything was fresh, the aroma throughout the restaurant was lovely.

Small place but delicious food

By Thomas L |

We have found this vietnamese restaurant somewhere hidden near 50 st subway station. Noticed it on internet, otherwise we would have passed it by easily without noticing. Place is tiny but after a few minutes waiting we were lucky to have a table for 2. The vermicelli bowl was delicious as well the springrolls. Also reasonable pricing.

Great Pho in NYC!

By Siddion S. |

I order from here often for lunch. They have great lunch specials. I always order pho and it's always delicious! Food is always delivered quickly and still hot. You can also dine-in and service is good. I would definitely recommended this place to all.

Tasty good value Vietnamese food

By andrew-jerusalem |

Above average Asian eatery in Manhattan. Service was excellent and place has a good vibe. We all had the pho soup which was excellent. Good choice of beers. And finished with black rice pudding which was great. Bottom line - great place for an informal lunch or dinner without breaking the bank.

Don't order add ons

By Meagan K |

Over all the food was decent, but the add ons were a rip off. I added grilled shrimp to my vermicelli bowl, paid $3, and only received 2 shrimp. And they were the tiny shrimp. 100% not worth it. Also the menu did not indicate the meal was spicy, and I could hardly eat it.

Very Happy

By Anon8815 |

Small place so try to go at non peak hours. Nice service. Reasonable prices, especially for nyc and the amount of food you get. Solid food. Just the right spice level.

A Warming Bowl of Pho

By Sabena S |

On Monday after a long grueling day, Bev and I wanted sustenance. As we were on West 52nd Street and I remembered having eaten a fine meal at Cha Pa’s Noodles & Grill, we decided to have an early dinner here. The waitress seated us immediately as there were several empty tables. As there was a slight chill in the air, a warming bowl of pho seemed ideal. Bev chose the vegetable pho (Pho Chay) and I ordered the chicken pho (Pho Ga). Chicken wings were also ordered and they arrived first. I ate one but when the pho was served, it didn’t seem important to finish it and we had it packed to eat later. Both the soups were warming and welcoming. After adding the bean sprouts, basil, and a squeeze of lime juice, the broth still needed some oomph. That was remedied with hoisin sauce and Siracha. Both of us left satiated. This restaurant does brisk business with customers coming in mostly for the pho although the dumplings are also popular. The music is pleasant and a large well stocked clean restroom is located on the same floor. The servers can get a bit harried when it is busy and so one needs to be patient in order to catch their eye.

Perfect

By MattClaire097 |

Unassuming little place, service is friendly and efficient, food is simple, fresh and delicious. The brisket pho is to die for. We have been here many times and have never been disappointed.

It's okay

By Matthew R |

Pho is okay, I tried the beef pho. Rest of the menu I tried wasn't good though. In terms of price per value I would say it's a decent lunch option.

Delicious Vietnamese experience

By AlinaK92 |

Very tasty Vietnamese food. Place is a bit small and always full, but it definitely worth it! Very friendly stuff. Recommended! 🥇

Impeccable service, beautiful food!

By Helen W |

After an exhausting day walking around NYC we stumbled across this little gem! We had the most delicious rice bowls, dumplings and satay, the best food we had in NYC. Service was impeccable!

Delish lemongrass beef bun

By recdmavn |

Had the lemongrass beef bun noidles and they were so sweet and soothing. Also had the beef pho and the broth was so good. Lots of 5 spice. Gyoza had a good flavor but pork fat buns were a bit too gamey for me although they were a good slice of meat. Soothing on a cold night. Hidden gem in quiet neighborhood. Funky fin dance music was a hip addition.

Excellent food

By Jaime G G |

Visited in late June 2015 with two friends and we all enjoyed our food. The staff were pleasant and not overly friendly (intrusive). Great menu with reasonable prices and even though it was nearly 11pm new diners were still coming in. With that said we did not have to wait for a table. Worth the visit.

Beautiful Vietnamese food

By Nola |

My husband and I arrived in NYC yesterday and already done some research before coming and come across this restaurant. If we had not discovered this on the internet we may have never found it.. I can honestly say the food was delicious and really well priced would definitely recommend anyone trying this.. I am super fussy and I was very impressed. Great food and price was good too

Best Pho I've had in NY.

By Joseph L |

Pre-show supper on a cold night in NY. Encountered full restaurant with people waiting (good sign). Service was very fast, friendly, and courteous. Serving sizes are "huge". Spicy beef pho, chicken pho, and spring rolls were our order. Pho bowls nicely presented, flavorful/fresh/plentiful ingredients, with flavorful broth made delicious offerings. quick service made for high turnover, but comfortably done - no rush, just prompt service. I'be had pho in Asia, on the West Coast US, and throughout the East Coast - - - this was the BEST!!

Great Food

By Celz22 |

In search for an affordable Vietnamese restaurant, we came across Cha Pa's and I am so happy we did. Not only the food was cheap, it was amazing. I had a soup and the summer rolls and my friend had a Stir Fry and we were really happy with the food. Will definitely go back when we travel to NYC again.

A light scratching of your itch for Vietnamese

By itztwan |

I've been here twice. Pho is good. Meat is good. Crispy spring rolls and summer rolls are good. Fish sauce is good. Both the broken rice and vermicelli noodles (bún) are too hard / dried out. Price is on the lower end of moderate. It's decent if you need some Vietnamese food, but your money goes further for better food downtown.

1st visit

By Tiffany N |

This was absolutely amazing food! Loved the pho broth.. will come back again. Never had a beef broth so good. Even my vegetarian wife enjoyed it. She just wished there were more carrots in the pho. Service was great!

Authentic Vietnamese

By Bill R |

Cha Pas was one of our best finds on a recent trip to New York. The food is authentic Vietnamese and there is obviously a loyal local following. This is not fine dining; but, it is very good Vietnamese food and the servers are friendly and knowledgeable. And, it's very affordable. Great for lunch before heading to an afternoon matinee on Broadway.

Good Food Without Paying An Arm And A Leg

By Tommy L |

I had great experience last week at Cha Pa's Noodles & Grill with the manager Michael and their staff. This was my first time there even though every year on my trip to NYC I have seen this restaurant. We all had a very tasty Viet Namese dinner, with excellent service and was very reasonably priced. That by itself is rare for this area. What was especially appreciated was that I had just purchased tickets for the NY Rangers playoff game at Madison Square Garden, the puck was to drop in an hour. I mentioned it to Michael and without hesitation, he said he would be happy to print up a hard copy of the tickets for me. Problem solved, tickets for the game printed up and a great dinner before hand. Thanks Michael for making it all happen, unfortunately the Rangers lost game :-(

Very nice

By Lauren A |

Cha Pas Noodles serves authentic Vietnamese food which is fresh and healthy. I enjoyed the Beef Pho noodle soup which was very nice. Not the best meal I have had in New York but I would recommend to anyone wanting a no-frills, quick and tasty lunch.

Bad places but good food

By laura |

The food was really good and for a good Award, which is why we ate here 2 out of 7 nights. Unfortunately we were placed right by the door, where it wrecked in and out in queues, with people picking up take-out. Several of them left the door open and it became cold and gave a lot of noise. Finally we asked to move our seats. The boring Ranking is why it doesn't get the best Rating.

Decent, clean, good food, recommend

By Dee C |

I've eaten here several times. Place is clean, service very friendly, food is good and not overpriced. Small, no frills, decent beer list as well including Tiger. Everything seems fresh and tasty, try it. Good vegetarian selection too.

really good and cheap in nyc

By Ken K |

hard to believe a good vietnamese place in the theater district. took ressrvations and actually held them though we were late and they were full. food came quickly and was great. spicy beef photo was just right and the salt and pepper calamari and yummy. all the other dishes were good as well. with 2 glasses of wine per couple and with 3 appetizers and 4 entrees the whole bill was 110.00 WITH a tip on 57th street. WOW. nice place with house music. would definitely recommend.

Very very good!!

By Josh D |

I went here for lunch once in November 2015 and I came back Friday night for dinner!! I had pho for the first time here and then ever since then I have been addicted to pho and other noodle soups!! I got the special pho which had almost every kind of meat!! It was very very good and so you should come here!!

Mediocre at best on the Pho Dac Biet

By Fouregas |

I picked this since it is the closest Vietnamese Restaurant from where I am at. It is a nice little restaurant in the Theater District. Friendly waitstaff. Decor is modern. On this night had their Special Beef Noodle Soup (Pho Dac Biet). Price is reasonable for this area. But the dish is not up to my expectation. Beef was not paper thin and nor showing pink. Ingredients were skimpy at best, noodles was ok and broth was alright. The usual condiments of basil, bean sprouts, jalapenos, lime, sriracha,hoi-sin sauce, chili sauce were all pre-made on a plate and put in the fridge; so the herbs are all wilted and not appetizing.

Good Food

By CareInn |

On a recent trip to NYC I met a friend here for a bite. Good food, ok service, nice variety and a little different (from my experience) on food usage. I ordered lettuce wraps and they presented the noodles in a way I've never seen. It was a flattenend cake of sorts make from noodles so that it would lay flat and spread out I suppose? Nice way to make it unique. Prices were reasonable. I liked it.

Best Noodles!

By Laxmom912 |

We liked this so much we came back for dinner a second night during our trip to NYC. The noodles were fresh and flavorful. The staff was very friendly and attentive.

Good but not authentic

By John C |

After spending 3 weeks in Vietnam, I can say with some authority that the food here is not authentic. It is, however, good Asian fusion with a focus on Vietnamese flavors. I agree with a previous 1-star review that the staff is "mostly Chinese and loosely Vietnamese" which explains the quality of food. We ordered 2 starters; the grilled pork on shrimp chips and my favorite Ban Xeo aka the Crepe. The grilled pork was tasty & tender, but was served as thin strips on a small bed of vermicelli noodles, both placed on a shrimp chip cracker. This was very interesting to me as I have NEVER eaten a shrimp chip in this manner! Not bad and high marks for something unique! The Ban Xeo on the other hand was a travesty. Not even close to authentic!! True Ban Xeo contains shrimp, sometimes pork, bean sprouts and served with wide lettuce leafs and fresh herbs. You wrap the ban Xeo in the lettuce with the herbs like a spring roll and dip it in a peanut based sauce. Delicious!! I'll let you know if I ever find a place in NYC that serves this right!! Cha Pa serves their Ban Xeo with asparagus, red & green peppers, mushrooms and shrimp. It is also served open face, which is not Vietnamese. This version is what qualifies as Vietnamese Fusion cuisine. My entree was a vermicelli bowl with grilled pork. This noodle dish was served with lettuce, cucumbers, carrots and chopped peanuts. I sprung the extra $2 for the tiniest, single egg roll. =\ The dish was accompanied by the weakest, Chinese style Nuc Mam aka fish sauce. Whenever you see Nuc Mam look watered down and contains a ribbon of carrot in it...RUN!!! ITS A TRAP!! It's not Vietnamese!! Finally, my wife ordered a Banh Mi Traditional. My expectations were very low at this point. One of the hardest things to make a successful Banh Mi sandwich is finding the right bread. Vietnamese baguettes are, in my opinion, some of the best in the world. (I would argue them better than France?!) Traditional french baguettes are too crusty for a great Banh Mi. So, when the sandwich came out, I was relieved that it was not on a french baguette! The sandwich was still clearly a Chinese version of the Vietnamese classic, but it was pretty tasty! Bottom line: this food is not authentic Vietnamese cuisine and for that I give it 1 star. But, as an Asian Fusion restaurant, it's not bad and I give an additional star. I would order a Banh Mi sandwich from this place if I was in the mood and in the neighborhood.

Amazing food and atmosphere

We stumbled across this place whisky exploring the streets of New York actually on our way to a different restaurant. We got to where we were planning and turned back because it looked that good here and it didn’t disappoint. The service was fab, super friendly and efficient and the food was delicious! Would 100% recommend. We went at happy hour too so drinks were a bonus. What was the pinot noir wine called if you don’t mind me asking ? Will have to locate !

Very good food

Cha PA’s is a very nice Vietnamese restaurant. Nice music in the background. Service is friendly. Food is very enjoyable. No reservations to be made. Recommended.

Lived up to expectations

By MassCatnap |

On a recent visit to NYC, I was staying a couple of blocks away, as was a friend with very limited mobility-- so I was looking on Google Maps for a good place very close to the hotel. One review said it was the best pho they'd ever had, and since I love Vietnamese already, I thought, "I'll take that bet!" Cha Pa's could be a little hard to spot at first, tucked away on a side street, but it's worth seeking out. I had the same opinion of their superb pho as that earlier reviewer I'd read, and everything our table of five was served was wonderful (there was a lot of sharing!) The service was also fast and friendly.

Super pho and noodle dishes

By VeroDiazNY |

We came across this place by chance, after attempting Toto Ramen. We skipped the crazy line and took a chance at Cha Pas (a few buildings down) and were delighted by the "find". We have been to Cha Pas twice since. Their pho, rice noodle dishes and pots are delicious. They also have a nice list of wines and great service. The place is small, yet we have never had to wait on line.

A Solid Pho Restaurant in the Hell's Kitchen (Times Square North) Section of New York City

By Sr. Adviser |

I stayed immediately around the corner from Cha Pa's Noodle & Grill, and so after a day of traveling and a full size lunch, I wanted some light comfort food for dinner. Cha Pa's was an excellent choice for their basic Pho dish (not the Super Bowl). I ate at their small bar, without waiting for a seat, and enjoyed a local microbrew with the pho. It was all very tasty, satisfying, and not expensive. Being based on the West Coast, I enjoy Asian cuisines all the time, especially Vietnamese, but I was most pleased to see a solidly good Vietnamese restaurant in the heart of New York.

awesome banh mi

By Andrea B |

We walked here from our hotel while spending a long weekend in NYC. We were craving viet and were very pleased with the banh mi, my boyfriend had pho and they broth was very tasty! I would definitely recommend for lunch or dinner.

Pho soups delight...don't let the exterior fool you.

By tibizzi |

Very nondescript exterior since there is an ongoing outdoor construction, but excellent, inexpensive eats with cocktails . Simple interior, great staff, service and authentic menu. Nice escape from the usual Manhattan gross overpricing.

Friendly service, good value

By William F |

We orders a selection of small plates to share. Comments about this not being 100% authentic Vietnamese are probably valid - but the food was fresh and enjoyable. The service was great and we were in and out quickly before a show.

Great gluten free!

By SilviaGlutenFree |

Excellent Vietnamese restaurant: gluten-free options are well highlighted on the menu. Fried and gluten-free, like most dishes. Great pho. They also have gluten free dessert! Try it!

Great find

By ESOZ |

A quick lunch, flavors were fantastic, service was good and prices were reasonable. Highly recommended.

My favorite Pho place!!!!

By Mayra285 |

I love this place sooo much!!! I travel to New York once a year and i always have to go back and eat at Cha Pa's! Get their pho, my favorite is the chicken pho. The Chicken it so tasty and tender, very fresh and does not have that chicken after taste that many pho places have a problem with. The noodles are the best, they have texture but they slide of your tongue and taste very home made. I have never tasted noodles or chicken like theirs ever! The service is fast and they are attentive to their clients. Eat here!!!

Room for improvement

By viscontiNYC |

Visited Cha Pas recently. The food was okay, but a fsr cry from real Vietnamese food like what you can eat on Baxter Street in Chinatown. The service was gracious and efficient. The room minimalistic to a fault: they need something on the walls to reduce the negative impact of sound bouncing off the walls. There were three of us and we could barely carry on a conversation due to the excessive noise. Yet, the restaurant was not full that night. I am willing to try it again in a couple of months

Delicious dinner

By TheMarriedTravellers |

We ,a family of five, sat to dine in Cha Pa's. We had a great vietnamese rolls for starter and then shared the 5 spices rice and some chicken noodles with excellent sauce. We love vietnamese food, and this dinner did not fail us! Light food, great taste!

Quick dinner

By Edward G |

Chose due to location, close to Hampton Inn Times Square North. Cozy setting, happy hour drinks made for an enjoyable pre meal respite. Chicken Pho was wonderful. Aromatic and flavorful the portion was enough for dinner. If I had known how large it was I wouldn't have ordered the pork ban mi. The sandwich was very good but was too much food with the soup. Will definitely be a regular stop when staying at this hotel.

Fantastic food, great pho and wings

By Max L |

The restaurant in all was good, they had nice authentic food, but the one star that they lost was that we didn't have napkins with our chopsticks, and the waiters didn't communicate much.

Very good pre-theater food

By H2O_log |

Went for pre-theater food and thoroughly enjoyed (location was perfect coming from 54th and 8th). The pork belly bun was very good, and the ginger clay pot chicken had a great taste. Beer and wine only, very quick service, and inexpensive.

Was on the list to visit.

By Scott R |

OUTSTANDING Pho! Our daughter recommended this place after she visited a friend. She was not wrong! This may be the best Pho we have have had! My wife had the rare steak pho and I had the Vegan pho with beef broth. The service was amazing! They were so friendly and helpful.

Excellent quality Vietnamese in Midtown

By AdrianfromUK |

I have visited here at least half a dozen times so I feel it is time for a review. Excellent , tasty and good quality Vietnamese food at Cha Pas here in Midtown. There is a very reasonable lunch menu but because it is not a high cost place I usually order of the a la carte menu. Today I had some vegetarian dumplings followed by one of my favorites , The Super Bowl. This noodle bowl has a bit of everything off the pho menu. The other bowls I have had in the past are also great. My friend had a shrimp clay pot dish which looked very tasty. Definitely worth a detour over towards 8th Avenue.

Yum

By M G |

Was craving Vietnamese food and ordered a big delivery to our hotel. Got fried and fresh spring rolls, braised pork belly in claypot, crab and shrimp noodles, and special dill catfish over rice noodles. Delicious!!! All the sauces and vital garnishes were included, and the delivery was very fast. Hearty portions except for the jasmine rice - just order extra if you love rice like I do.

Best Pho ever!

By ParticularDenver |

Our family all had colds on our recent trip to NY. We went specifically for the pho and we were not dissappointed. This was hands down the best pho we ever had. We also started with the salt and pepper squid and that was heavenly as well. Very reasonable prices too.

Awesome Lunch

By MelAnnB |

I wanted some Vietnamese good while in NYC for a conference & I'm glad I found this place. I arrived right after they opened about 11:45am, however by noon this place was packed. I had the chicken coconut curry noodle soup & hot traditional Vietnamese coffee afterwards. The broth was full of soccer city flavor with just the right mix of coconut cream. The soup is a huge portion & I over ate by trying to eat it all. This soup is full of veggies, such as red onions, carrots, cabbage, cilantro, and an Asain green. The lunch special comes with either a spring roll or salad. I opted for the spring roll. Ask for dipping sauce as my server didn't bring any. They sell beer & wine with a good choice of Asain beers. They have a happy hour as well but I cannot remember the times. I also had to ask for my check however it was extremely busy with customers & deliveries. My bill was only $13, can't beat that in NYC near times square. I also want to mention if you blink, you will walk past this place looking for it. It's small & hidden. I walked pass it twice looking for it. Enjoy!!

You'll Leave Hungry

By StevenHarrison |

Enough with NYC restaurants trying to make a profit in a city where real estate is destroying the quality of life. Yet another casualty. This restaurant actually has tasty food but the price to portion ratio is infuriating and ridiculous! A bowl of Pho, 3/4 of the way filled (but tasty). A plat of rice with one tiny, pounded Lemongrass Pork Chop (but tasty). And so on, and so on, and so on. The other infuriating thing about this restaurant is the noise they play on the radio. Every once in a while an actual song comes on but too much hip-hop and rap. How anyone can digest food to that noise is beyond me. I can barely chew. It's absolutely maddening at high decibels! This is an eatery; not a bus stop! After three visits to this restaurant (and really going out of my way to get there because I don't live in the neighborhood) I've had more disappointment than satisfaction so, unfortunately, I won't be back. And I have a feeling the fault is the rent and lack of understanding about how to create a restaurant business where people can enjoy a meal.

Great takeaway

By Cat33R |

I needed a quick takeaway dinner after a very long day of sightseeing. I love Pho and a good Pho can be hard to find. This is my first visit to NY and managed to find this fabulous little restaurant as my first pick in finding Vietnamese food. It was full of flavour, quality beef and fresh sprouts and ticked everything I love about Pho. It is such a bonus for me to be staying relatively close by that a revisit will be easy! Highly recommend.

Much better than expected. No queue and good service

By PS Lim |

Checked few other asian restaurants nearby but we decided to try this pho place. Great find! Our group had spring rolls, pho, beef stew, grilled pork and chicken. We loved salt and pepper squid too. Service is decent and ambience is great.

Lunch exceeded expectations

By Ilana K |

We stopped in because it looked WARM (freezing day) and delicious - we were not disappointed. We got a coconut curry soup and a salad/noodle dish - both portions were generous and the overall experience was low-key and pleasant. We would absolutely come back to this place!

Fresh authentic Vietnamese

By avarliew |

The Pho was absolutely awesome and fresh. The spring rolls....probably the best I have had and I eat Vietnamese food a lot and at everywhere in the world. Prices are reasonable. Portions are big. Atmosphere nice and calm.

Topnotch pho, wide selection of super fresh dishes

By Kim P |

Walked in with group of 5. Congenial and efficient service, very good organic sake, super fresh ingredients and a spicy pho that was irresistible. Worth a visit, especially on a cold night!

Excellent casual Vietnamese

By onlyGeorgeVwilldo |

We visited this restaurant twice during our last trip and both times we enjoyed the simple but tasty Vietnamese fare. There is a vast selection for both vegetarians and meat eaters. It is a great place for a quick stop while in this busy neighborhood of NYC. The interior is simple but pleasant and service is quick and attentive.

They have BBH

By Melanie T |

I am not one to let a DoorDash coupon expire and I also happened to be craving Viet (I often am), so we decided to order from here one Thursday evening for pick-up. We chose Cha Pa's because it was on my husband's way home from work and was available on DoorDash. I'll admit, I was a bit iffy at first with only 3.5 stars on Yelp but we gave it a shot, and I'm really glad we did. Here is everything we ordered: Vietnamese Spring Rolls - the spring roll skin was a bit chewy here but the filling was good Bun Bo Hue (spicy lemongrass soup and added beef meatballs) - this was so flavorful and it was pretty spicy. There's lots of bits of lemongrass on the bottom, which I don't think you're really supposed to eat, but everything else was great. Adding the beef meatballs was a great move. Plus, not a lot of places even have BBH on the menu, so this was much appreciated Thit Ko (Vietnamese braised pork belly with egg, and added a sausage) - this was too oily for me but my husband enjoyed it. He also loves rice and pork belly so I'm sure any rice + pork belly is better than no rice + pork belly Large Beef Pho Broth - we just ordered the broth because we thought getting a regular pho with everything would be too much food, and this was the best move. We got to try the broth itself, which is the most important part and it was great. LOTS of bone marrow flavor so if you don't like bone marrow, this isn't for you Grilled Pork Banh Mi - not the greatest banh mi but better than most average banh mis I've had. If you're craving one, this will do Everything was packaged perfectly, and was intact and still hot after a 40 min-ish trip back home. They even gave us packets (instead of little cups) of sriracha and hoisin, which was really convenient, since these can sometimes pop open and spill. Cha Pa's really thought it through. Would definitely order again!

Pho

By Mymilesandsmiles |

ChaPa’s serves up the perfect bowl of pho (beef noodle soup) that really warms you up on wintery days. In addition to their signature pho, ChaPa’s has a variety of vegetarian options and great sandwiches (note that banh mi is Vietnamese for “bread”). The chicken pho is made with glassy rice vermicelli noodles with a light, herbal broth. The fun part about pho is that you get to add toppings your way, with fresh basil, lime, bean sprouts, jalapeño peppers, hoisin and Sriracha. It gets busy during dinner but I usually find a sport at the bar =]

Yum Yum

Great food. OK prices. We were the only tourists. Small place. We had a nice meal here and we had the visit planned already from home, since we have heard positive words about this place. Will come back next time in NYC.

Poor Service and Stingy owner/manager, not family friendly

By Hmong N |

I am a reasonable person and I like to think I look at the glass half full but today I am upset/fuming at the service we got at this Vietnamese Restaurant of all places! Cha Pa’s had great reviews in NYC so I thought we go there for lunch. My two children decided to share a chicken pho (bc they can never finish one alone) and I asked for another pho bowl. I never imagined this would spoil our time there. The wait staff brought out 2 small slurping soup bowls for him. My husband and I looked at each other and thought to ourselves “How is our son going to eat pho out of it?” For those of you who eat pho - you know that you need at least a mid size bowl to eat it. How will the noodle, soup and all the veggies fit into a tiny slurping bowl??? I politely asked for bigger bowl And the wait staff’s response was “We don’t have bigger bowls only small ones.” I thought that it was ridiculous - bc this was a pho place....so I asked for clarification “Why can’t we have regular size bowl to eat pho?” He kept giving me excuses as if the bowls were all locked up. I told the waiter that was I willing to pay for another empty bowl to be used or even wash a bowl after we use it if that was the case. He shouted “Ok, I will get you another bowl.” He comes out with another small bowl slightly bigger than the other 2 but this bowl was still small and it titled at the lip...so the broth just comes pouring out. I could not believe the service! Instead of giving us another medium size pho bowl (I was not even asking for the regular size) they gave us 3 small bowls for my son’s pho! Unbelievable! At the end of our meal, I told our waiter that I was disappointed that my son had to eat out of 3 small bowls and how ridiculous this was. He sent over the manager and the manager began to argue with me that his wait staff did give us a bigger bowl as requested. I showed him the 3 small bowls and stated “You think these tiny bowls are big enough to eat pho?” Then I told him, “This is really bad service and any person with or without children would know this was just poor service.” He was explaining to me that they could NOT give out bigger bowls...and told me had I ordered a broth bowl then I could get another pho bowl!!! Seriously - this was ridiculous that is was almost comical! It’s not like I would be cheating him out of business!!! The bottom line - My children were sharing and they do not give out extra bowls. He was arguing and implying that I should be thankful that he gave us 3 tiny bowls and went on to explain that “bigger pho bowls are left for the other pho orders!” THAT IS THE DUMBEST EXCUSE!!! Their menu should state: “If you share a meal you will not be provided proper eating utensils for the other person!” I was just shocked that the manager/owner was such a rude person justifying why my child was given 3 bowls!!! He acted like getting another pho bowl would cause him to lose money or we would be getting free pho refills!!! As a manager/owner, instead of making it right, he just argued wanting to be right about his services. I finally got really upset and said, “You know what - this sad that you are Vietnamese just like us, and you are treating us this way!!! You just have a bad unkind heart!” Then he started to argue with me about how nice he is “Ooo no Miss, I don’t have bad heart, I hope the food was still good!” I told him, “No, the food became distasteful due to service here!” And I left. Therefore, I am NOT recommending this restaurant if you come to NYC - especially for families! Texas Vietnamese pho is so much better, and the VIETNAMESE people there will give you an extra bowl, extra plate, extra spoon, extra fork or extra napkin if you ask them - bc it’s the right thing to do! This place is not a family friendly restaurant. The owner/manager is just right out stingy and unkind over a bowl. #Kindness matters

Great little Vietnamese restaurant

By StephenCross |

Cha PA’s is a nice little restaurant off 8Th and 52nd Street. Doesn’t take reservations but turnover is fast. Food is really nice off a relatively small menu. Prices reasonable.

Pleasantly surprised with Take Out quality and service efficiency

By AA123Perth_Australia |

Staying in Apartment on corner of 57th West and 6th Avenue. Chose to stay in and have take out after full day of activity. Fancied something flavorsome and hearty, delivered quickly on a cold wintry night. Chose Cha Pas Vietnamese-52nd St- and was pleasnatly surprised with quality-freshness, flavour and portion sizes for fair prices. Enjoyed double orders, delivered in 30 mins, of Bahn Mi, Fresh prawn rice paper rolls, 2 types of Pho with delivery for approx. $60. Strong recommendation for takeout. Microwave pho soups and enjoy.

Good find for a lunch

Not an expert on vietnamese food but all was good, fresh and my delicate stomac appreciated the menu. Price moderate and family friendly.

Amazing Pho!

By mairead_pt |

My family had never tasted Pho so took them here for their very first experience. The soup was absolutely delicious, they loved it! Great service, very friendly staff. Next time I am in New York I will certainly visit this restaurant again.

Fantastic!

By Courtney |

Great prices and spectacular food! I'd been craving authentic and delicious Phō and I got what I asked for. The sake cocktails are also fabulous. Small restaurant, but worth the lack of space in price and quality. I'm glad I read the reviews of this place and came here on my visit to the city for the first time in about 15 years.

Vietnamese next to Post Office

By BillSimpson1953 |

Gem in the Big Apple! This place is a little hole in the wall next to the Post Office in W 52nd Street. Food was very good and plenty of it for less than $10 a serve. We had two serves of Pho Bo and two glasses of Sauvignon blanc for $36.91. Service was fast and efficient. We arrived at 11.45am and left by 12.20pm. Queues had started to form at the door at Noon obviously very popular with the locals.

Well worth the 12 block walk

By Mitch B |

Well worth the 12 block walk on a cold day. We had the Pho-nominal and the Saigon Special. Both had very good flavor and were prepared perfectly. The staff was very helpful in giving us information on the dishes.

Satisfying pre-theater

By molindr |

This restaurant caught my eye wandering down 8th Avenue looking for pre-theater dinner restaurant that was not overcrowded and overpriced for what is often mediocre food. This no frills Vietnamese restaurant was clean (including the restroom), servers were genuinely interested in my impression of the food, and with $4 Happy Hour Vietnamese beer, appetizer, tax and tip I got out for $30. The ingredients were fresh and well prepared; shrimp vermicelli had a lovely grilled taste and were not overdone. Would definitely return and explore the menu.

Delicious authentic restaurant

By itayTravels |

Tasty food, big portions, highly fast service, no waiting time between courses. I would definitely return!

Vietnamese Calm in Theater District

By annbury |

We could not get in to Totto Ramen on a rainy night, and Danji had no noodles, so we went to Cha Pa and had salads (OK) and two kinds of pho, both terrific. The broth was very tasty, the noodles were fine, the beef was thinly sliced and rare and there were several condiments to swirl in the soup. Desserts are limited but the black rice pudding with coconut is worth a shot. Service was brisk and professional. The ginger tea is excellent.

Great place!

Looked for Vietnamese food and found this restaurant near where we stay. Loved the food, specially the seafood pho! Recommendable

A lovely surprise little find

By ErikaHorsham_WSussex |

We were going to another restaurant highly recommended in the same street in New York, however it was full to over-flowing with people waiting. We spotted this place on the way and subsequently retraced our steps. Small, elegant little restaurant, not over-crowded with attentive staff. The food was good and the flavours excellent. I had the Mango Shrimp Salad and my partner had the Steak salad and 2 glasses of wine. Not huge meals but delicious and sufficient for $38.

hot noodles on a cold, rainy day

By jenksoccer21 |

We tried to get into Totto Ramen (highly rated & down the street), but it had a 30-person waiting list and a very small dining area...we were starving. Cha Pas had a 5-minute wait, and we were glad to get inside b/c it was cold & raining. The food came quickly, and I liked the way the restaurant was set up. My pho was good. My husband ordered the pork vermicelli. The pork had an amazing flavor, but the noodles were just ok. I feel like there are probably better-tasting, more flavorful noodle shops in NYC, but we were only there for the day, starving & wet, so we took a chance & popped in here without researching it first. Definitely worth trying if you're already in the neighborhood or can't get into Totto Ramen.

Great surprise find

By Mychelle K |

We had planned to go to another restaurant but the line was long so we happened upon Cha Pas. The Thai Ice Tea was a nice start to our dining experience. We ordered the Pork Vermacelli bowl and House Fried Rice. Both were delicious. Server was attentive, establishment was clean and menu had good variety - prices very reasonable for the city. We will return when we are back in NYC.

Vietnamese Lunch

By JH2717 |

This restaurant had average size portions of traditional Vietnamese food. The summer rolls were soft and fresh. The noodle dishes were also tasty. Portions were a little on the small size.

Local favourite pho

By Chefjohnny76 |

All I'm going to say about this place is the pho and spring rolls are amazing. If you love pho this is the place to eat. The master stock is clear and taste clean. It's a must this place.

Quick lunch

Had a Vermicelli bowl. It was good. No bowls come with spring rolls which was a bit off but it was good. Would go back.

Good Banh Mi

By Aimz78 |

First time visit - first Banh Mi - it was good. I had order it to go... it was quick - maybe 5 min wait. The sandwich is good and the pork is well seasoned on top of all this the sandwich isn't soaked in pickle juice. They offer delivery - so next time I'll be doing that instead of walking from 42nd street. I enjoy it and will try bun next!! Thanks!!
