$5 Margaritas!

By KeriannG |

We got off our tour bus and Chevys was right there! We were drawn in by the happy hour specials which didn't disappoint. Their margaritas were delicious and you can add a fruity flavour for $1 extra! Their chips ans salsa were super tasty and fresh. We shared the sampler platter which was awesome and very well priced. There was a mix up with one of our dishes (we asked for chicken and got shrimp) but they provided a fresh one! Overall, we were super happy with our experience and the atmosphere!

Got a bite here before the show.

This Chevy's is two floors. We at upstairs and they were able to get us out in an hour. We thought we weren't going to make it because after we sat down there wasn't a lot of hired help to be seen, then after about 40 minutes the food came out of the kitchen. Don't know if they always staff this way, but if you tell your waiter you have to be somewhere, they do their best to accommodate. It was close, but they did it. Food was standard Chevy's which means we liked what we got.

Fresh Contemporary Mexican Food in NYC!

By brianpatterson273 |

Amid the “Junk Food” Capital of the World it’s good to find some Fresh and Comtemporary Mexican Food. Whether you plump for Tacos, Enchilada or Fajitas, the food is tasty, healthy and excellent. Situated as part of the Westin Hotel Times Square Complex in the centre of Manhattan I would recommend it!

Tacos!!!

Margarita was so good as well as the chicken tacos. Wanted to come back again but couldn’t fit it in on this trip. Great service.

Went for breakfast...Food was ok!!

By C S |

Literally ran into my family as we were getting off the bus in Manhattan from the airport. They were looking for somewhere to eat breakfast and on our way in, we say Chevys Fresh Mex and that they served breakfast. The 8 of us ate here for breakfast. It wasn't bad. Service was kind of slow because they only had one waitress servicing the whole restaurant. I ordered the kids short stack with bacon with a side of eggs that cost $5.00 for 2 scrambles eggs. My kids also had pancakes with bacon and eggs. My son and I received our food along with the rest of the table but my daughter and one cousin didn't get their food. The waitress had to put their orders in again, which took another almost 10 minutes before their food arrived to the table. Our bill was $48.93. The food was ok but but if I ever go back to Manhattan, I will probably try this place for dinner and see how that is.

Food good, service poor

Our waitor was run off his feet as hardly any staff on. He did his best but food was slow coming. Was nice when it arrived though

NY Mex

This is a good quick place to get a bite when it is cold and rainy outside The Guacamole and Tortilla soup was good to warm up too course the Margareta's helps as well The service at the bar was a little slow as they were learning the menu and how to serve so you had to wait for service but all in all good

Awesome!!

This place exceded expectations. Very fun, clean and professional environment. They were slammed packed and still got us a seat promptly and our food was our very quickly. The food was great. The salsa was great. I will definitely return on my next trip to NY!!!

Middle of times Square

By Orlando M |

This Chevy's is located in the Heart of times square; There are two floors of seating; great window views, place is always busy and staff is friendly and food is good.Drinks are a little on the strong side and I guess it's good if you are a drinker.

Always great food!

By Debbie H |

This place is amazing! They had to move from Lake Buena Vista so we made the trip across town. They are even better! Karla, our server, was 👍 great. So happy they are still here and we can enjoy their salsa, guac at the table, and shrimp & crab enchiladas!

Great place for quick meal before theater

The food was great, and very good cocktails. Attentive wait staff. We will definitely return again !

Restaurant is closed

Open Table will allow you to make a reservation but the doors are locked with a sign that says they have moved to 3rd. Try the Roxy Diner on 43rd instead!

Good food for a food price

By girlscoutmother |

Service is outstanding. Clean. Food was good. Not fantastic but good. Shrimp and crab quesadilla was good. Chips were fresh and salsa was soooo tasty. Partner had mahi mahi with veggies. Tasted good. Rice was okay. Black beans were good. Grilled pineapple dessert was also tasty. Overall a good experience. Not too pricy. Outstanding service.

Decent food but terrible service

By flatlandcoug |

First, the food was pretty good. Fajitas were great, my daughter's picadillo beef taco was good and my son was overstuffed by his tamale and chimichanga. The atmosphere is ok considering that we were only a couple blocks from Times Square and not exactly near anything Southwest. The restaurant is huge with plenty of seating and we didn't "need" a reservation although we had one just in case. That's the end of the positive parts of the review. When we arrived, the upstairs was less than half full but it took over an hour to get our food. I'm fairly confident that our incompetent server gave our meal to someone else as we saw a table that arrived after us get fajitas before us. When the food arrived, my son's fries (I know, who the hell orders fries at a Mexican restaurant?) were cold because the other food mysteriously took too long. My wife and I shared fajitas that cost $26 and they gave us three tiny little tortillas that were not nearly adequate to handle the substantial amount of meat we received. Upon requesting more tortillas, there was no issue, except the sitting for nearly 10 minutes with the idiot waitress coming back after about 8 minutes and realizing that once again, she had forgotten about us. She forgot to offer me additional water as well. When requesting the check and paying, again, it was a painful process. I'm sure that most of our issues were derived from the waitress but I wouldn't recommend that anyone go here if you have any desire to eat dinner in under 90 minutes. We will never darken their door again.

Food is OK prices are ridiculous

By AliciaU51 |

Slow service and decent food but not worth the price. The best part are the gentleman going around singing. Don't waste your money.

SCAMMED MY CREDIT CARD! Charged my card $220 for a $76 meal.

By jalapenojo |

Visited here just before Christmas with my Mother. It was packed, which I always take as a good sign, and we both love Mexican food, so win-win. We got there and were showed upstairs, where there was more seating. There was a steep staircase which my 69-year old Mum really struggled with. When we checked in upstairs, we were told there would be a 30 min wait for food. We decided to stay, but as it was packed, there was nowhere for my Mum to sit. Luckily a kind lady gave up her seat for my Mum and I went downstairs to get us a drink while we waited, as nowhere upstairs to get one. After around 30 mins we were showed to our table. All fine so far and the drinks were great for the price. We were introduced to our waiter and a colleague who was training so shadowing him. Both super-friendly and and helpful. Ordered and ate food, all great, no complaints and huge portions. When we asked for the check, they brought a bill for $76 - - pretty good value considering what we had eaten and drunk and compared to other NY restaurants! After a long time waiting for them to come back so I could pay, they came over and gave me another check for $146! I queried it and they claimed not to understand. We told them they were mistaken, the $76 was correct so we tore up the bill for $146 and signed for the $76. They took my card away, which I was worried about, as in the UK they NEVER take your card out of your sight - in fact, they are not even allowed to touch your card, and you enter your PIN to pay. They took my card and I had to sign for the $76. We left a $10 cash tip and left pretty happy... The next morning I checked my bank a/c and saw that they had taken $220. I was really upset and rang my bank to sort it out (at £1.50 per minute from US to USA). I was told to go back to the restaurant to sort it out after a 20 min conversation. Back to the restaurant and asked to see the Manager. He couldn't have cared less. In the end he mellowed a bit when I showed him the transactions on my statement and my receipt. He apologised and said it was a genuine mistake and would arrange a refund ASAP. I asked how I could trust him because we were due to fly back to the UK a few days later and then I wouldn't be able to come back and sort it out again. He promised he would sort it out. Fast forward over a month and guess what? No refund processed. I have emailed their head office and received apologies but very poor customer service! I have been promised refunds but still not received anything. Also received my phone bill and it was over £20 more than usual because of my phone calls to my bank to sort it out. It almost spoilt my dream trip to NYC, but thankfully, the rest of the trip was so perfect, it didn't! Had great meals at The Counter, Patsy's and The Plaza, but this was so disappointing. PS Turns out after speaking to locals, they all take your card away when you pay!

Good food and service but logistical challenges

By Summer_Jenee' |

We stumbled into Chevys based on where we got off our bus. They were conveniently located and ready to serve. The staff was good and so was the food. The only thing wrong with Chevys was all the "stuff" we as customers could see as we went to and from the restrooms. If it were not for that, I would probably give them a five (5). The visual left a lasting impression beyond the food and the service.

"Salsa from New York City?!" You bet!

By BRS58 |

I used to go into NYC about once a month and ate at different restaurants based on friends' recommendations. When I spent a week at the Hilton across the street in 2015, I discovered Chevy's and that was it. I don't visit NYC as often these days, but every time I do I stop in for a terrific, reasonably-priced meal. I was never much of a salsa-and-chips eater, but I have raved about Chevy's to everybody who will listen. Last month, I took 2 pints of salsa back to the hotel and froze it so I could take it back to the midwest with me in a cooler. And I don't know how they make their chips so thin, crispy and non-greasy, but I'm still eating on the stash I brought home with me. They never seem to get stale. I'd like to say I've tried a variety of things on the menu, but once I found the table-made guacamole (although I wouldn't recommend putting in the white cheese, as it completely changes the taste) and the shrimp-and-blue-crab quesadilla, I've never ordered anything else. I love Broadway, but it wouldn't be a trip to NYC without a meal at Chevy's!

Nice

Chevys Was alright, portion sizes where really big. Not the best burrito iv had but wasn’t the worst either.

Would Recommend Lovely Meal

By Kelly D |

This restaurant is located in the fantastic Times Square region, enjoyed our Fajitas so much the first time we went back for a second time even though we were only in NYC four days :-) We had the Steak Quesadillas the 2nd visit and there were just as nice, so would recommend either. Will definitely visit Chevy's again when we come back to NYC. The staff were helpful and lovely and friendly too.

A Perfect Evening: Michael Moore and Chevy's sampler!

By SuzanneCloud |

After seeing Michael Moore's new show at the Belasco Theater, my date and I were ravenous, but didn't have enough time before we had to catch the bus back home. So we stopped in Chevy's for their sampler and drinks - Wow! The sampler was scrumptious: wings, quesadillas, pizza-like slices of tasty bites, a Mexican egg roll - everything was reasonable priced (in NYC???) and very tasty. I bagged what we didn't eat (there was so much) and took it home with me. Highly Recommend before or after the theater.

Terribly Overpriced and Terribly Under-served

By Liese2314 |

Stopped in here for lunch between sightseeing tours. Very expensive for what you get and the service was about the worst I've encountered in some time. Waited 20 minutes for water and then another 30 minutes after ordering for our food to arrive. We had decided at one point to give them 10 more minutes to bring out our meal or we were going to leave and the food arrived with a minute to go. The food wasn't bad but it certainly wasn't worth the prices they charge and definitely not the time it took for everything from water service to getting the bill.

Reflection of Society

By Jesse H |

First, yes it is Memorial Day Wkd. I get it. But this place did not seem prepared for the extra flow. (It's NY, isn't flow always high?) I bellied up to the u-shaped section of the bar and sat for 5+ minutes as the same bartender kept walking by looking right, never left, and failing to notice. Luckily, another bartender from the opposite end actually noticed and brought me a menu. I ordered a Top Shelf margarita and some nachos. Easy enough. Margarita was quick. Nearly 30 minutes later, no nachos. I queried the guy who seemed to be the senior person on shift. He was apologetic "kitchen is backed up" and even asked me what I was drinking. I thought "hmm, maybe he's gonna give me a free drink for the inconvenience". Brought me another margarita... definitely not Top Shelf. I heard "kitchen is backed up" directed a couple more times at other customers. Nachos eventually showed up, minus the jalapeños I originally requested from the other person. Nachos, meh. I asked for the check, $42.86. I give $50. The girl who originally took my order processes the bill and brings back $7 minus the .14c difference. I guess Chevy's rounds the bill to save their staff from expected math skills. I left a $3 tip and will never be back.

Lunch at Chevy’s

By Larry W |

This place has the best Mexican food in downtown Manhattan. Their burritos are delicious and fairly large. The complimentary chips and dip help fill in any empty gaps in your stomach and are so fresh that you can hardly stop eating them when your entree arrives at the table. The wait staff also did a fantastic job of taking care of us.

Been there...

By PuertoRicoJoe |

After having my brother in law reserved for a party of 6, I had to ask for a better location since we were seated in the back, secluded from the lively area, in a loud Mexican food restaurant. Menu traditional Mex Tex, happy hour margaritas nothin to call home about, but the best waiter to have in the locale. Enjoyed the family experience but not so much the food. Wouldn’t repeat.

Definitely a not

By Sw05464 |

We were walk ins on Sunday night, and told there, was a 30 minute, which we,accepted. It wasn't that busy, so,we,sat ignored for the time, and promptly were seated after 30 minutes. We then sat at our table for at least another 15 minutes totally ignored, so,we,got,up,and left.

Before the movies

By Traveling_Beauty1985 |

Went here before a movie to kill time. Ordered the giant strawberry frozen margarita, omg it was so amazing. Hostess and waiters were in great spirits

Great food

By Colby V |

My wife and I visited the Times Square location on a Friday night. Of course the place was crowded but we were seated within 15 minutes. The tableside guacamole was great. The food was also done very well. Being from the Louisiana we have an expectation for great food. This place did a good job at meeting that expectation.

Completely Duped

By Mary S |

We went there about 8:30 pm on a Saturday night. They said 30 minutes to be seated. During the course of waiting one hour, we heard the greeters gossip non-stop about some malfunction in the kitchen and they were not allowed to seat anyone- but they weren't going to tell the whole story to anyone waiting. Interesting approach. I get they don't really care about customer service because the next moment they will have one hundred other people show up. We left after an hour when we still couldn't get the truth.

Always Wonderful

By Hospitality Expert |

Close to theaters. Best salsa in this country. Food presentation is very good. Service was excellent. Prices higher than other Chevys but hey it’s NYC. LOVE THE SALSA.

Very disappointed

By Brabjr |

Walked into the restaurant at 3:40 in the afternoon to eat with only two couples seated in the restaurant and was told a ten to fifteen minute wait to be seated. Very disappointing all the tables wide open and they couldn't seat us. Walked out after waiting 10 minutes with four other families waiting as well.

Excellent food and great atmosphere!

By aces11 |

Chevy's was suggested to us by employees at a retailer that we had visited, and they did not disappoint! It was reasonably priced, great food, and great drinks! I had a margarita, and it was HUGE! And soooo good! We sat by the window and people-watched, which was fun in itself. If close by this restaurant, I would strongly suggest that you try it!

Surprise!

By jaggym |

I somewhat reluctantly went to this restaurant but was in a hurry and my son wanted to eat here. The service was very friendly and the food was actually pretty good!

Best Margarita

By LeonaBlack |

We stopped in here by chance and I’m glad we did. The service was excellent, I had the best mango margarita ever, and the food was great as well.

Okay

By AngelaMiller83 |

Pros: Times Square location Happy hour deals Neat decor, had a truck upstairs Cons: Food tasted of chain quality and nothing to rave about (expected) A lot of drinks were not available and our waitress just brought substitutes to our table and the one beside us without asking first Neutral: Slow service, but expected in TS Overall, if you are tired of walking and hungry, stop in to rest your feet and take advantage of the happy hour deals. Food and drinks are mediocre, but affordable and convenient when in TS.

Great Food

By LShank |

This is the third time we've eaten here , first time over ten years ago. Terrific food. Fajitas, enchiladas and nachos were really good. Frozen margarita was really good too. The waiter we had was excellent, don't remember his name, but he was from Texas originally. He was very helpful and attentive and friendly as well. Made our meal even more enjoyable. I'm sure we'll eat there again next time.

$50 for $18 worth of food and it gets worse

By Randall |

It's s chain restaurant, okay, so expectations are low. That said it took 35 minutes to get food order when it wasn't busy (not the first time this has happened) and the bill was over $50 for four enchiladas and beans and rice. Two people, average food at best and so over priced if you eat here you are lost or an idiot. Stay away. Just stay away.

Good Mexican food in Times Square

By Kdmontgo |

Shrimp and crab enchiladas were outstanding. A little expensive but in Times Square so understandable. The queso was pretty good too. Fast service.

Close to everything, no waiting....

By Ruthi K |

We stopped in on ST. Patrick's Day, needing a bite to eat before a show. It was busy, but not packed. Service was OK, food was acceptable. Seated right next to the kitchen, which was not great. But considering the options, it wasn't that bad.

Good service. Cookie cutter Mexican.

By MNWorldTraveler |

Very predictable mainstream Mexican. Service was good. Pork tamale was most flavorful thing we ordered. Enchiladas were also very flavorful and made with very thick corn tortillas. Wide variety of kids meals available. Salsa is quite good.

Overpriced drinks

By atjtetmt |

We had a bus tour we were waiting for so we decided to stop in for a margarita. $16 each, eek. I know it's Times Square, but come on. The chips and salsa were good and the margaritas were average.

A Chain, A REALLY GOOD chain!

By eventsbythirteen |

I seldom eat at chain restaurants. But, I happened to be visiting friends at a near by hotel, and decided to go in for the happy hour! $5.00 Margaritas! I had Mango, and ordered food. The Picadillo Chimichanga is delicious, a GIGANTIC portion, and, just a really pleasant surprise! Service was good, atmosphere, as expected, but, clean.

Terrible

By Aufidia K |

The food is tasteless, vegetarian options are very limited, service was terrible and pricey , never again!!

Mixed thoughts...

By LadyFenn |

Popped in after being on The Ride. Staff helpful and polite. Food okay but not amazing. Felt it was very pricey for a Mexican. Don't think I would return.

Highly recommend!

By HMW |

I made the reservation on Open Table, and we were able to walk right in and be seated. The chips and salsa to start were great. Famous for their margaritas, we tried a mango flavored frozen upon the waiters suggestion. It was delicious. Chicken nachos were very filling and delicious. The homemade guacamole was THE BEST!

Terrible Service!

By Texas4kiddos |

First, we were promptly seated. Sat there 15 mins & got the attention of the hostess who was seating another table. I asked who our server was. It was one guy who had around 9 tables in this area & saw him numerous times walking around but never acknowledged our table. He finally came around & took our order. He bought our water but I had to wait 15 mins or so to get my beer, and I had to tell the manager & she brought it! Finally the food arrived but the kitchen staff served it. We had no plates for our fajitas. Got the attention of our server & asked for some. He finally dropped off a few. NEVER once did he ask us if we needed ANYTHING. I have never been to a restaurant where I did not leave a tip, but I did not leave one this time. The food was okay, but I have to admit that the chips were wonderful...only if we could of had refills from an attentive waiter!!

Awesome

By Jilll G |

What a great little find this was, considering I almost walked past. Great happy hour offers and I recommend the flautas and beef burrito. Really nice touch that you get a free appetiser of warm nachos and dip. Really pleased and reasonable prices for a time square location

Tasty drinks

By KrisArv |

Went here for happy hour and the drinks were $5 for a regular margarita or $6 for a fruity margarita. The drinks were not strong at all and after 3 margaritas I did not even feel tipsy. They also tried to charge us extra for drinks and we had to correct them. The bar service was good and the prices were decent but the drinks were not strong.

Maybe just for happy HR

By Carm D |

The waiting system appeared very unorganized. Once seated we waited for a very long time for just appetizers. It was super crowded and maybe understaffed. Prices were reasonable.

Ugh. Just ugh.

By chazpbg |

Even by the standards of mediocre chain restaurants in Times Square, this place is a disaster. I don't think I've ever encountered a waitstaff more disinterested in helping a customer. After our drink order was taken, we were all but ignored -- water never came, a request for an extra plate was forgotten about and it took a long time to get the check. Oh, and after being told the frozen drink machine was busted, we discovered another one was working on the first floor -- so we could have gotten a frozen margarita after all. And why did the mariachi band insist on serenading us when we said to please pass us by? (And why is there even a mariachi band when the music over the loudspeakers is already blaring?) I didn't mention the food yet -- it was to good Tex-Mex what Olive Garden is to good Italian (which is not say not very good at all). At least the salsa that accompanied the (overly salty) chips had a nice spicy kick. Needless to say, avoid this God-awful place at all costs. And if you want a frozen drink just go to Dallas BBQ up the block.

average

By PDKJ |

We came here for lunch. The place looks a little run down. We sat upstairs. Service was a bit slow. Food OK. Quite expensive.

Nasty, Over prices, and AWFUL service

By Andrew W |

The food is microwaved and nasty. Server took his sweet time coming to table and was short and rude. Then he never returned until it was time to pay. Food was nasty, the Chile relleno is NOT a chile relleno. The rice and beans were hard and tasted fake.

Lovely service great food

By Stacy_Watkins |

Visited today as our tour picked us up outside so decided to go in and wait and order a drink. The guy who served us Sammy was brilliant didn't push us into ordering and suggested drinks. When I said I wasn't that hungry he brought out some amazing cheese and nachos for us to nibble, great service and lovely food so glad we went in.

OK

By Chez |

I had fond memories from Chevys each time I visited, it has been 10yrs. Very disappointed, presentation was not good, the Fajitas were pretty tasteless, I make better myself. Our server was OK, but not as good as I remember.

Late dinner after long working day

By Luigi T |

I was looking for a place for a quick donner after long working day and Chavy's was close to my hotel and I like mexican food so I tried it Nice place, good waiter and waitress and good food, just too much! To try again with friends

Very Disappointed in Chevys

By lonelychair |

I've enjoyed going to Chevys all over, for years. Not only was this one of the worst dinning experiences at a Chevys, it's right up there with the worst of the worst dinning experiences I've ever encountered. We arrived, party of four plus a stroller. The hostess was clearly annoyed by our "small" stroller. There for a minute, I thought they actually wanted us to leave. We finally get seated. We sat there for 29 minutes (no exaggeration) before I was able to get some service. The restaurant wasn't busy. There were only three other tables in use. We could overhear the other tables complaining about their wait as well. Since we sat so long, we were ready to order and placed our full order. The server seamed annoyed that we were ready to place our full order instead of just drinks. We ordered chips and quac, drinks, and our meal order. It took forever to get the standard chips and dip. We had finished our chips and salsa before we got our drinks (non-alcoholic teas, water, and apple juice). We got our chips and guac at the same time as our meal. My daughter got her apple juice when she was nearly done with her meal. Not once did we ever see a manager.

Had breakfast at Chevy's Fresh Mex this morning. Hostess was pretty rude in getting us to our table. Waiter was courteous and efficient. Food was a different breakfast eating experience.

SLOW SERVICE!

By Lynne P |

Stopped in for lunch last week. We got there early, around 11:30. They had about three tables when we arrived. It took forever for the waitress to even come to our table. Even longer to get our food and when we did, we had no silverware. There was no one around so we found some on another table. I overheard a lady at the next table telling the waitress that they had been waiting 20 minutes for their food. The food was okay, not bad. Would not go back. The waitress was friendly but rarely came by our table.

Decent food - not good service.

By Garrett G |

We went here after a show and were seated upstairs. The floor had food all over it and the booth wasn’t very clean. The server was very odd and did not fill our drinks very timely. The food was decently good but could be found at any Mexican place.

Hot food on a cold night

Chevys is connected to the Westin Time Square where we stayed. They had good Mexican food for New York. The staff was very friendly.

Big place and beautiful ambience

By LaylaM |

Went inside and ask for a table. Currently they don’t have available table at the ground floor, so the hostess told us to go upstairs, I’m surprised how massive place it is especially on the first floor. We’ve waited for 5 mins to get our table, it is busy night. We’re given the table next to the fireplace next to the window. It was a perfect place for me and my fiancé, then a couple of minutes Mr. Kevin took our drinks order. After the drinks was served, another 2 minutes again before we order our food. We both ordered the 3-combos. It was beautiful, I will recommend to my readers to try the Crispy Chicken Fajutas on the 3-combos menu. The ambience was good. They also a group of Spanish bank whose come to your table and play the music you want, Ive requested Ricky Martin song. Thanks for Mr. Kevin who take care of us while we dine in. Overall was definitely a worth coming in for your empty stomach. 😋😋😋

Just a poor effort overall.

By Edgar H |

Five people, three said it was ok, I was dissatisfied with my order and what they served to my nephew was a joke. He ordered cheeseburgers and was told all toppings were on the side. He got dry pieces of charred meat between dry buns with no cheese. When I asked about the cheese it was explained that they could bring some. They brought shredded cheese in a cup. Joke. Oh, and it took 48 min to arrive. This place isn't busy because of the quality of the service, it's busy because of the location and the slow ticket times. Worst meal we had in NYC.

Breakfast in NYC

By Cat86E |

Went to Chevys for breakfast one morning during our recent trip to New York. The breakfast menu looked great and the staff were very welcoming. We both ordered orange juice and I ordered the ABC omelette which was delicious. My husband ordered the Full Pinata breakfast which was disappointing as it was supposed to come with pancakes. Instead my husband got 2 slices of toasted bread. He didn't highlight the error at the time as he was hungry and we were in a rush to to explore the city further. Overall excellent staff and pleasant breakfast in NYC....would like to come back for dinner to try out the fajitas on our next trip!

This stuffs made in NYC

By cnanrw |

Being from New Mexico, we were craving some Mexican food. Saw Chevy's on previous visits to NYC so we decided to try it out. Lunch time on Times Square wasn't too busy. Isabel R., our server was so pleasant (and cute, too). Brought out some chips and salsa. Not expecting much from the salsa, we were pleasantly surprised at its flavor and spice. Not overly hot, but before long, we needed more, which Isabel brought with a smile. Farmers Enchiladas, Surf and Turf and the Baja Trio were all very good. The green enchilada sauce was unusual. Kinda creamy, not like at home. But the flavor was good so don't judge a sauce by its appearance. Nice to find decent Mexican food away from home, and this fit the bill.

Good food poor service

By redbonegirl1 |

Never even got seated. Had to track down two people to get a seat finally made the girl at the door downstairs come up to get us seated. Food came we had no forks or napkins and the waiter was one of those lazy people that just sneaks looks but never comes do we ended up getting our own forks and napkins. The food however was very tasty. I had steak fajitas and everything was cooked perfectly. Such great tastes.

A touristic visit

By George T |

We were on a touristic visit, we did the "The RIDE" which started next to the restaurant came back and we had dinner at the Mexican restaurant. Great Food, drinks , location and staff. Quite authentic.

Nice restaurant but service and food a let down

By Terry H |

Made a reservation but still had to wait for a table to be free for us. The waiter messed up the order giving us three chicken dishes when we ordered a beef dish. we had to remind the waiter we had ordered drinks that we were waiting a good ten minutes for. Food over priced for what it is and I wouldnt return next time we are in New York.

Delicious!

By Shairose K |

First time here the food was nice and tasty but a little pricey for what we ate. The best nachos and salsa...made in house. The portions were large and filling. T

The food here was amazing, fajitas were delicious. The location is Times Square and is close to so many NYC activities. Service was great, and prices were very reasonable. Will definitely return.

Great Mexican food in NYC!

By Patrick S |

We were in search of Mexican food and decided to visit chevys. We didn’t have any expectations since the restaurant looked so big. But don’t let that fool you! Our food was delicious and tasted like authentic food from Mexico. They had a chef cooking fresh tortillas right next to us! If you’re looking for good Mexican food in NYC, visit chevys!

Great fresh mex

By Peter B |

I visited here after attending the AMC across the street. Great fresh Mexican food. Happy hour running 4 - 8 pm daily ! Well worth a visit. Great food at a very reasonable price. Strongly recommended, especially if addicted to good chicken fajitas !

Meh

By lindsay b |

Average food, friendly server but very slow! Also was more concerned with her conversation with other servers than picking up our check so we could leave. Not the worst, but I wouldn't eat here again.

Great Guac, so-so entres

By Gregory T |

We are quite spoiled to great Tex-Mex, above average Mexican Chain food, and fantastic Mexican regional cooking. We had been several days without our Mexican food fix, and decided to try Chevys on our final day in NYC since this was close to our hotel. The table side guacamole was fantastic, the salsa was very good, but the rest of the meal just barely hit average.

It look like the bad service is OK on the theater district

By Aabbady |

We were looking in place to eat after our Broadway show. My wife like Mexican food and choose this place. It was early and the place was not busy. Upon setting we greeted with young waiter who look struggling with one table already eating and us. We asked for some starter which we did not received for very long time. After we waited for sometimes we received our main food. When we asked where is our appetizers we learn the runner deliver it to the wrong table. That is OK, but what is not OK, the waiter never visited our table since he took the order, not to apologize about the mistake or asked if things is OK so we can tell him the food is very cold and we need more drink. We finished our food and still looking for him to at least clean the table. Finally, we have to ask someone passing by to ask our waiter for check. Finally, instead he approach the table he dropped our check while he is very far from us and ran away. We just have to leave after waiting long for appetizer that we did not receive and eat cold food with no one who we can asked to get us more drink. It look like eating in the theater district in New York City you have to eat bad cold food and do not complain about pathetic service.

Nice dive

I was working with a coworker in Manhattan, so we shot an email to our local sales rep to meet up for lunch. The chip and salsa were very good. I ordered the mesquite steak and chicken. Very delicious. I would definitely go back with the family.

Didn't even order!

By Geldings |

So disappointed in our experience with Chevys. We arrived early, around 5pm- we try to eat early and leave before places get too busy as we have young children. The hostess was not in a great mood and after being told we couldn't have a booth because of our stroller, -we didn't have a problem with this- the hostess attempted to seat us at another table, but found it hadn't been cleared. We were told rather firmly, not asked politely to wait again over at the hostess' station. We watched her clean the table herself, making several trips back and forth to the kitchen. When we were finally seated again, we were apparently a fire risk and moved to another table half the size. After waiting at least 10 mins and not so much as a greeting from any staff we decided to leave! No one said a word to us as we - a family of 5 vacated! Keep in mind it was only 5pm and was not busy at all!! With multiple tables available.

Bland food

Service is good but the food is very bland. Probably not the best restaurant to go to but their drinks seems a little better.

OK

By BonsterMC |

We knew that we would finish a tourist activity right in front of this restaurant, and would not have the chutzpah to choose a more creative answer for dinner. And we knew we could sit in the a/c and have a margarita, which was an appealing idea. As anticipated, it was perfectly fine. Most of the regular entrees like quesadillas and burritos were around $16.99-$19.99 which is typical for sit-down chains around Times Square. There was a special on margaritas at the downstairs bar (but not upstairs in the dining service area), so we got our margaritas from the downstairs bar while we waited for our table. One thing that did not matter in our particular circumstances, but which could have been a real problem for others, was that the place was way understaffed. They were seating at fewer than 1/2 of their tables and appeared to only have 1-2 servers working, so on a Tuesday evening we waited about 30 minutes for a table and then another 30 minutes for food after ordering (happily, the food was hot/warm, so the kitchen may have adjusted its speed too?). Everyone was friendly and helpful, there were just not enough people working for it to move more quickly. It worked out fine for us and we were fine to sit a spell, but cast a careful eye around if you have time considerations (or young, hungry kids).

Very disappointed!

By Ernesto G |

Horrible! Host said it will be 10m. Busser disappeared so it took 20m instead. Then a family from another table decided to move to our table. They did nothing about it. I asked for the manager and they called her upstairs but she didn't show. They had about another 10 tables dirty so cleaned another one. Now she said kitchen is a mess so it might take a little bit. I left and asked for the manager and after telling her what happened she didn't even apologize. She just said I didn't know you had a problem until now and I have 200 people upstairs. Sunshine I don't have a problem, I left and had dinner somewhere else. You, on the other hand, have a huge mess. Your restaurant is falling apart I would expect you are at the front of the house leading your team and taking care of your customers. And by the way, learn that the first thing you should always do when dealing with a unhappy customer is Apologize.

The door was locked. We should have taken the hint

By Jim A |

We arrived and the door was locked. We waited until someone came out. The bathrooms were absolutely disgusting. The floors were sticky and no one ever waited on us. After 15-20 minutes we finally left. We were never greeted by a waiter or waitress. We will NEVER return.

Sammy!

By PoshPrincessTravel |

My friend's and I were in the city for our friend's 40th birthday. We stopped at Chevy's for apps and drinks before we boarded "The Ride" (see my review for that, too) as our entertainment. I'm so glad that we fell upon Chevy's. We sat at the bar and were greeted by Sammy the bartender. He took great care of us for almost 2 hours. The manager came over to sing with us and they made sure that we were comfortable and that our drinks were FULL the whole time. We loved the chips and salsa and the table side guac. We definitely will be back for lunch then next time we come to NY. Thanks for showing us a great time guys! Love to Sammy!!!! So adorable!

Horrible service

By Brandon H |

We had about a 45 minutes to an hour window to waste before we saw a movie across the street, so we decided to run in and grab some chips and queso. Our waiter didn't take our drink order until 10-15 minutes after we sat down. Then it took another 15 minutes to bring out queso. And another 10 minutes to get drink refills. Needless to say, I'm not going back. Do not recommended. However, queso was great lol

Very disappointed

By j t |

It's been ten years since I visited, having moved to an area where this place doesn't exist. What a disaster. We ate lunch , at a time hen it wasn't busy. Our waiter was very friendly, me tried to rectify the meal, but it was too late. My food came out incorrectly, but was quickly fixed. Moms tamale wasn't even a tamale. Any child can tell the difference between pork and hamburger, and hers was supposed to be pork. Not to mention the tortilla shell that was supposed to be masa. Best part of the meal was the chips and salsa. I was just very disappointed. I won't return to this branch, but haven't written off the chain. Still my favorite, and I still miss it.

Not good

By Karen L |

Went here on a second visit whilst in NY. The waiter told us we HAD to give him a $23 tip. We were begrudgingly giving him $10 as the service he provided was very poor. He left the plates on our table and ignored me when I tried to arrract his attention. My friend gave him another $10. I went to the manager and told him and he gave us our $10 back. Just beware and don’t give a good tip if you don’t get a good service. Also make sure you get a paper copy of your bill and check it for accuracy. It is a shame as our first visit was really a great experience.

Good carry out

By Richard J |

We took lunch back to the Westin next door. The seafood quesadillas were good as was the tortilla soup. Good chips. Everything was fresh.

Amazing Lunch in Time Square!

By tiahiggins |

this was the best Mexican food I ever had! the dishes were awesome and big sized. Do not be fooled by the word "starter" that could be your meal! the drinks were amazing too! so freshing and awesome.

The best Mexican Spot to go to in New York

By Lovelydee711 |

I live in New York, and I been to this restaurant 4 times, its the best Mexican spot in Times Square, the food and drinks are the best. Been here twice for Happy Hour, and they have the best selection of drinks that you can choose from.

Good place to stop.

By Jurora |

We had been walking around the city for hours, and decided this would be a good place to stop for a late afternoon lunch. It is in the Theatre District area, and we were seated at a table at the window, to watch the busy world go by. Nice atmosphere inside and out. We ordered the Nachos Grande plate, which was large, and it contained alot of ingredients, including chicken, black beans and corn. We thoroughly enjoyed it. We would make a visit back here again, if in the area.

Dreadful experience

By Emjamo |

Whilst visiting New York from the UK with my daughter, we'd booked tickets to see Wicked and also booked a dinner reservation at Chevy's so that we'd have plenty of time to eat and then see the show. The place was jam-packed- to the point that we were sharing our seating area with a number of waiting customers. After waiting 15mins, we called a a waiter over to take our order. He directed another waiter to our table. We explained our theatre booking and he took our order- without pen and paper and complete disinterest. No drinks arrived, no food arrived - and after speaking with a manager we discovered that no order had even been placed! No apology, no dinner and certainly no repeat visit. Most disorganised restaurant I have ever visited.

Decent lunch, efficient service

By Tink0707 |

Stopped in for a late lunch & service was good throughout. Drink refills & chips and salsa came quickly and regularly. The chimi was ok (cheese sauce on top wasn’t very good but otherwise alright) & the pork taco was good. Black beans not so great, rice was fine. Average prices for Manhattan.

Delicious and Great Service

By Kala C. P. |

They have Table Side Guacamole! It was sooooo good and of course fresh. I ordered the "Surf N' Turf Combo", their habanero pesto creme sauce is sooooo good over the shrimp and crab enchilada. I also ordered the Blackberry Mojito. It was very interesting, I probably would not order that drink again. But their service was very good and the food was absolutely delicious. I only wish we had one near where we live so I could try more of their menu items.

Average Food, Average Service, Above Average Price

By crimsonfish |

We had dinner at this location late in the evening. The waitstaff seemed apathetic even though this place is on happening Times Square in the city that never sleeps. Plan on waiting even if the restaurant isn't that busy. The food was good and there are some tasty menu items with vegetarian/vegan options which are flavorful, which can be tricky at some establishments. The prices are high for what you receive so apparently name recognition is worth a 5-7 dollar per plate hike from other comparable Mexican restaurants across the country. I liked the vegetarian farmer's market enchiladas but probably wouldn't go out of my way to have them again. The salsa is ok and my wife's burger was overpriced. We can now say been there, done that and will be more diligent in selecting our late night dining spots on future visits to the Big Apple.

Horrible

By King60 |

Chevys is the worst Mexican restaurant or any restaurant we have ever had the misfortune to visit, the matradee became very rude when we asked her to place us in another location of the dining area, then we waited over a 30 minutes for a waiter or waitress whom never showed. So we left and went to Tony's off broadway and time square.

Lunch

By BathSilvercar |

I would avoid this one - food was exceptionally slow , eventually had to ask after 60 mins if it was coming , it then appeared , service was at best described poor. The place was not busy l can see why. Much better places to eat in NYC and at cheaper prices .

Average Food; Good Service.

By Tony Westenbroek |

My partner and I were looking for something “snacky” (for lack of a better term) to enjoy before going to a show. We thought Chevy’s would fit the bill. The service was fast and friendly. The grande nachos could use a bit more chicken but were a good size for us (2 adults).

Excellent location for drinks in the heart of times sq

By alfredo |

Very good service Lots of space even when it is crowded Stick to beer and hard licor Food is just ok

Our only negative experience

By D R |

It pains me to write a less than positive review as have always found New York service to be exemplary. Arrived for happy hour drinks & thought we might stay for a meal. It was very quiet so thought we would be served quickly. Placed our order and was asked where we’d be sitting. After a bit of a wait a server asked us if we’d ordered, when we replied yes we were spoken to in an abrupt manner and ended up in a to and fro as to whether we had actually ordered anything. We decided to give in thinking maybe they hadn’t heard us. To our surprise they then told us exactly what we ordered?! Once we were served the staff were a bit nicer but it was too late as we couldnt wait to leave. A huge shame.

Yummy

By Travelerfun1 |

Great drinks and yummy appetizers. The “authentic” Mexican dishes were just ok. The kids menu needs work.

Don’t understand bad reviews

By Excursion612203 |

We had a great family meal here and the place is just enormous upstairs and food and service were perfect. My wife and daughter shared the biggest burrito I’ve seen and it beat the pair of them! My son had a child’s meal burger which was as big as an adult portion with three burger sliders, really delicious too. I had fish tacos which were spicy and delicious. Very enjoyable evening and service was really top notch.

Poor experience overall

By LouiseC |

Ok, so we are a group of 4 friends visiting NYC, decided to give Mexican a go one evening and we left very disappointed! Whilst the initial waitress was pleasant enough - sorry didn’t catch her name. We asked for water when we arrived as we ordered drinks - nothing arrived. The starter sharing platter arrived, and we then had to wait another 5 minutes for side plates. Then only 3 plates arrived, so one of us didn’t have a plate. We still didn’t have cutlery though! We asked for the water again, just to remind the waitress and it still did not arrive. The mains arrived - all of them had the wrong accompanying sides! But by this time, we were getting a bit weary about the fact the service was so dire. We asked again for the water and it did arrive. Mains were nice, starter was ok ( designed for 4 to share but not 4 pieces of everything on there). We had a chipotle chicken enchiladas, husband had the fajita burrito which was the nicest dish on the table. Toilets were not great! All in all - not a great experience. In my humble opinion ( and I rarely give 2 stars if you check my other reviews ) I would honestly avoid this place and try another Mexican restaurant! 👎🏻

Great food

By Su |

We ate here for lunch and the food was really good. We had the steak quesadillas and chicken fajitas which were tasty. It's a big restaurant with lots of space and is very close to Times Square so it's in a central spot.

Good Mexican Food

By Cassie4d4 |

Split the sampler plater, which was more than enough food for 2 people. Good Mexican food, in the heart of NYC. Friendly staff, would go back again.

Good mexican food

Located in the Times Square area, Chevy is a good place for a meal.. really loved the soft tacos and fish burritos

Great wee place at a decent price

By Gillian W |

My husband and I hate a late lunch in here so we were seated straight away. Our waiter was lovely and really friendly and very eager to please. I had a Sam Adams and a Chimichanga and my husband had fajitas. Lovely fresh food and we were pleasantly surprised at the price. No complaints here at all and would eat there again.

Horrible

By Karen S |

After waiting an hour for our food, which we understood because they were busy, we sat and watched our fajitas getting cold waiting for tortillas. We finally asked to speak with a manager, who managed to get them within minutes. Wish I could say things improved after that but no such luck. Never again.

Very filling!!

By kv_8098 |

I had a vegetarian burrito with a side of refried beans & flavored rice. The burrito came with sour cream, pico de gallo, guacamole, & some sort of corn purée on the side. It was really good & filling. My husband got something called Chevy’s Super Cinco. It was 2 enchiladas (1 beef & 1 chicken), 1 hard or soft beef taco, 1 pork tamale, & 1 chile relleno. He loved all of it! The chips that came before the meal were really good & the salsa was quite different in my opinion. All in all, it was really good!

Our favourite restaurant in NYC

By Antonio |

We found this place just by chance walking around Time Square. They have Happy Hour from Monday to Friday starting at 4 pm. We had some cold beers here but saw some people ordering some dishes that looked great, so we decided to come here the following day to enjoy some Nachos and 3 tacos ($5), alongside some beers during the happy hour, just an hour before the play started in The Broadway theatre. Then, we came another day for lunch and drink some beers in the bar. We had the combo offer for $21 and many cold beers. Service is amazing and fast. Prices quite fair. Totally recommend it!

One of the worse experience in Mexican restaurant

By Cj S |

My wife and I recently visited this restaurant. The service was as horrible as it can get. a. First it took a long time to get the attention of the waitress. then for 15 minutes we did not get chips and Salsa. We ordered Portobella Mushroom Fajita. The order took a long time and when we got it it came without the mushroom. There was no taste as the vegetables were not marinated properly. When we asked about lack of mushroom, we were told there was a mix up. They offered to get us few pieces of Mushroom to add to plate. When we send the order back and get new order properly prepared, it came back with some other items missing. The waitress had an attitude and completely ignored us afterwards to a point where she will not even bring the bill. We had to ask the manager to get the bill. Spent over two hours and ruined the evening. I will not go back to this place

First Time was a pleasant time

By Kon B |

I've never had this type of food before. I really enjoyed it & Alex, our server was great. Meats and salsa's where spot on, and he kept the beers coming

Frustrating

By Kathy K |

I give this experience a "2" only because we had a great waiter who was very engaging and the complimentary salsa was awesome. Otherwise, not so happy with our visit. 1. It was Thanksgiving so the place was not busy. But yet we told we had to wait 15 to be seated. When we complained, they said they could seat us immediately at high top tables. "Yes!", we said. But by the time they sat us happy hour was ending. But our waiter said he would get us the happy hour price for our drinks. 2. The margaritas had no liquor as far as I could tell...... 3. It took FOREVER to get our meal. When we did, it was lukewarm 4. It took FOREVER to get our bill. And when we did, the waiter did not give us the happy hour drink rate as promised. But he did correct it, which took FOREVER I understand it was a holiday and probably short of help, but the place was not busy. So..... This place is just average if looking for an Americanized Mexican place to go. Like someone else said "it's the Applebee's of Mexican."

Food average, not much presentation, took over an over to serve

By Janet J |

Too many customers, too few waiters/tress. It may have been the rain that drove people into the restaurant, but it just seemed so chaotic. When we came in and tried to put our name on the wait list, they said it was 45 minutes to 1 hour wait, but if we went upstairs it would be shorter. Well, it wasn't any shorter line, but the 1st floor did get people out of the front door. We had to stand in the hall near the escalators as all the bench seats were taken. There were lots of empty tables, but lots of confusion at the station where waiters were going to get people to be seated. A very arrogant man was in charge of this place. We did get a table and the waitress brought us our drinks pretty quick, but then we didnt see anyone for a long long time. Finally we got the attention of a waitress and she took our order. Then it was over an hour before we saw our food. Had no success in getting our drinks refreshed again the staff was running and running. By the time we left, the place was almost empty, the rain had stopped. Dont know whether we were there on the wrong night, but it was not a place we want to return. I have eaten at another Chevy's in San Jose, CA and it was a delightful experience.

Dinner in the City

By FMPENA |

This is a casual dining restaurant that serves Tex-Mex style food. The portions are very big so most plates like the chicken & steak fajita, will be more than enough for most couples. The food was fresh and the servers where friendly along with the greater which got a table in a very short time also you get fresh chips and salsa. Over all not a bad place to go if you want a quick meal. The only only minor issue I had was the music was a little load for my taste.

terrible food and service

By Sabine P |

We went there for a quick bite to eat and a drink before a Broadway show. We were there early in order to make our 7pm showtime. We were seating upstairs. The music was too loud for my taste, but that was not the worst of it. We ordered two margaritas but were still waiting after 15 minutes. We tried to get someone's attention but it took another 10 to 15 minutes for the drinks to show. That was pretty ridiculous given that the place was not busy at all at the time. Then our food order came: steak nachos. That was awful. The worst I have had in a long time. So we ordered something else as the nachos were so bad. We settled for steak fajitas. Another mistake. I am not sure what kind of meat they use, but it was gross. We did not eat that either. I will never set foot in this Chevy's again.

Delicious food and great service

By Gabe24 |

The food was delicious, huge portions. The beer was excellent and the margarita as well (and huge). Service is super friendly, and you can see that the Team actually cares about you and what you think. Our waitress did a small mistake with my order, but fixed it with no fuss and apologised and we had a great laugh. Well done!

Average food, service slow

By Tony Trotman |

Called in for breakfast with family of five as passing by. Very few people eating, however with only one waitress, service was extremely slow. The food (selection of pancakes, eggs, omelette and burritos) was not particularly special and over priced. Would not recommend.

Yum!

By TiffanyHC |

I love Mexican food, and am normally pretty picky about it, so I was a little skeptical when recommended we eat here instead of somewhere not right in Times Square, but I was pleasantly surprised. They give you a good amount of food for the price, the drinks were great, and they had a pleasant staff.

Terrible dump,avoid if possible

By CDM4282 |

I should have checked previous reviews and saved myself a bad experience. We had reservations for three at 7:00 PM.We arrived at 6:55 and were told to go upstairs to be seated.ONE of the THREE hostess standing there told us to take a seat on the bench. We waited for 5 to 8 minutes while the hostess discussed shopping, boy friend and party's,one hostess was holding three menus. After listening to the hostesses do their socializing the one hostess turned to us and said follow her.I thought my wife was going to rip her heart out. The waiter was stretched to this,Brandon did a great job,but he had too many tables.Food was fair. The wife and granddaughter went to the women restroom. When she returned she said the women's bathroom was disgusting, with water, trash and plain nasty condition. When she reported it the hostess said they KNEW!! This is a management problem, cute hostesses with nothing to do but gossip and deplorable conditions of the establishment.Skip this dump,I should have

Delicious!

By MaxandMegan |

We stopped in chevys on a whim on a cold rainy night looking for dinner! Given it was 9:30pm the restaurant was moderately busy. We were seated right away and the waitress came straight over. We received our entrees at the same time as our appetizers. Everything was hot and so yummy! Highly recommend it!

So bad

By 842glennk |

Stopped in for dinner with my family while walking around times square... should have kept on walking and went elsewhere. From stay to finish it was a very bad dining experience. The waitress was not attentive and we barely saw her after we ordered and the fingers were brought out bff kitchen staff instead of the wait staff. WtF? She never came back to refill out waters. We saw her once during the meal and that was it. The food came out warm not hotand we had to run down the manager to get out check. Rhett was allot of wait staff stranding around not doing anything but bs'ing and texting on their cell phones. I was not a satisfied customer.

Ok food, bathrooms are disgusting

By NewYorkTarmale |

We ate here today after going to the Auto show at the Javits Center. We were seated upstairs quickly and our waitress, Elizabeth, was friendly. Our service was intermittent though and my dish was cold but Elizabeth made a whole new dish for me which was appreciated. The food is ok. It's fast food Mexican so it's not authentic but not horrible either. This location happens to have high prices since it's in Times Square so it was 18.99 for a 2 item combo but it did come with rice and beans and chips and salsa for the table. We were full quickly so took the rest to go. We've come here for years mostly for the kids but I think we will find a new place since the prices seem to go up but the quality does not. Also I need to mention that the bathroom was absolutely disgusting and unacceptable. There was an employee in there on her phone so I wasn't sure if she was on break or was supposed to have been cleaning. It reeked of urine and there was toilet paper all over the floor and the soap dispensers were all broken. Really bad. The whole place could actually use a good cleaning.

Great Mexican food in the heart of NYC

By smalltowngalGeorgia |

Food was so good. Restaurant was crowded, but we had great service. Margaritas were very good also. I would definitely recommend this restaurant if you like Mexican food. Prices not bad for NYC.

Expensive for a drink

By RichmondMartin |

Stopped with our cases while waiting for our transfer to the airport. Drinks were expensive for what you got. Staff were expectant of us wanting food, when we said it was just for a drink. The floor was badly worn in places, and the windows were filthy. Place looked like it needed a good overhaul.

Very bland

By CSXXSCOTTERXX |

Ordered the nachos, came out after 45 minutes of waiting. The food arrived warm, covered in cheese, pico de gallo and guacamole. I would avoid as you wait a very long time and the food isn't great.

Lunch ;)

great hostess, and laid back people. We jumped inn for lunch and got a nice experience. We ordered just a starter, the shared nachos. And it where just as expected.

Just ok

By hitx94 |

This restaurant is just ok. Overpriced for food that is comparable to Taco Bell. Not impressed. Convenient, but that's all to it.

Good Margaritas!!

They have gigantic glasses..my favorite is the mango. I suggest that you drink it slowly, it only takes just one.

Love This Place!

By TeeMa J |

Any time I'm in the Times Square area, I hit Chevy's. Today, as I was being seated, I told the host that I was kinda in a hurry. He asked if I knew what I wanted. I gave him my order and my food was out in no time! I usually order the Shrimp & Crab Enchiladas. It is served with yellow rice a scoop of polenta and your choice of black beans or refried beans. The enchiladas have a spicy green sauce over them. Very good!

Inconvenience

By Morrice255 |

We ate here as we had The Ride booked that evening and the pick up point was right outside. The atmosphere was good but unfortunately the service let the place down. We were shown to an upstairs table and the waitress appeared very quickly to take our order. We asked for a bit more time and she reappeared and took our food order but didn’t ask about drinks... after attracting the attention of another member of staff we finally managed to order our drinks. Food arrived but we had no cutlery! Cue another five minutes trying to get someone else’s attention... The food was average. Certainly nothing special but tasty enough. The waitress was over about three times during our meal checking our plates - it was like we were an inconvenience to her. We were at a table for four although there was only two of us so maybe she wanted a bigger party in? Literally the minute we finished our meals our plates were whisked away and about two minutes later the bill was placed on our table. Erm, thanks, we were intending on having dessert but given we were clearly in the way we didn’t bother. Mediocre food and terrible service.

Pretty good Times Square restaurant; up the street from New Amsterdam Theater.

By tsmorgan |

Four of us went to to Chevy's on a Saturday evening before seeing Aladdin. I made 6 pm reservations, but that was really unnecessary. Reserved seating is upstairs and it was empty! I assume it has something to do with the weather - it was snowing a LOT that entire day into the night so the city was not overly crowded. Our server approached us right away, and was attentive the entire time. She immediately brought out chips and some sort of salsa (forgot to ask what was in it, but it was spicy and really delicious). She came back to replenish the chips since we finished them while awaiting our entrees. We had delicious margaritas (one frozen strawberry; one Patron on the rocks). For food we had the Southwest cobb salad and quesadillas. I also ordered the Fresh Mex build your own Combo - carnitas soft tacos and chile rellenos. The tacos were good; the chile was awesome! There was an ooey gooey chewy sundae for dessert; I also ordered a keoke coffee. The girls really enjoyed the sundae (something involving a brownie and oreos). The coffee was okay, but there was a bit too much alcohol in mine. I do not remember the total, and cannot locate the receipt, but it was not an over-priced meal. We split the check on two credit cards with no trouble. I would definitely visit Chevy's the next time I need dinner before a show.

Terrible service in the middle of the day

By rgoold |

There were plenty of staff around yet the service was ridiculously slow. After waiting over 15 minutes for drinks I asked if they were on their way to be greeted with a sarcastic response. We won’t be back...

Large group accommodated

By Brooke H |

Visited this restaurant with a group of students. A special room was set up for us with a taco bar. Fixings included both beef and chicken and a variety of toppings. Although our group of teens was large and somewhat noisy, the staff was friendly, attentive, and helpful. It was a good experience.

Great Mexican

By Ian R |

This was our 2nd visit, the first being 30 months ago, when we had an awesome dinner. So, a little apprehensive in case it wasn't as good this time. However, there was no need to be concerned. Food was fantastic, service was excellent, and we had a great evening. I would highly recommend.

They have happy hour so if you're on a budget make sure to sit downstairs for the happy hour specials; even with family. If you like the quiet and it's happy hour sit upstairs. Your wallet won't thank you but your mind will. The food is awesome. So much so that we eat here at least once every trip as the nearest one is 4 hours from us.

So disappointing

By Rhonda2398 |

The food was tasteless and expensive. Out of four meals, the only thing we enjoyed were the appetizer chicken wings. I would never go back nor would I recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Margaritas Extraordinaire

By TJSTraveler26 |

This place is close to the Hilton where we were staying, so we went in for a quick bite. We shared a bunch of appetizers an ordered their large margaritas. Wow, The Prickly Pear was my favorite and the Strawberry was my least favorite. The coconut pineapple was especially yummy. The nachos were amazing and the buffalo wing were especially tasty. All in all, it was a fun place to eat and drink. Try to catch their happy hour as the drink prices are reasonable.

Two People TWO Different Experiences

By Tellitlikeitismc |

It was a rainy Tuesday night, Yankee game was canceled, tired from walking around all day - decided to go to one of the closest restaurants to our hotel - Chevys Fresh Max. My 22 year old is a HUGE FOODIE - is up to eating most anything and loves Mexican.....hence ending up at Chevys. The place was not busy, but took forever to get seated. We were told to go upstairs where we were greeted by no one - finally get seated with no menus. UGH. The BEST thing about Chevys - the Tortillas they bring out are hot and fresh - could of eaten them by themselves all night. (We asked for extra and ended up bagging them up for our late night snack!). Sorry, I digress.... We had tableside guacamole - eh - the chips saved the day here! The Foodie ordered a vegetable fajita - cooked perfectly. They were severed with warm wraps, beans, rice, sour cream and a little bit of quac. I ordered the vegetable burrito. I was disappointed. The vegetables were barely cooked - it was like eating a crunchy salad put in a pita wrap. Like I said, two people - two VERY DIFFERENT experiences. The Foodie gives this place 5 stars. But since I'm writing - can't go more than three...and thats only because the chips were out of this world - a carb high for sure ;-) Adios My Friends ;-) Happy Travels.

Happy hour!!!

By James S |

I visited here with my friend on a Friday afternoon around 5:30. When we entered we were greeted by a hostess who asked if we were here for happy hour or regular dining. We had to wait about 5 min for a seated area for happy hour. The drink specials are worth the happy hour alone! I got a $5 strawberry margarita (full price $12.99). We didn't get any happy hour food specials, they didn't look too appealing (lots of things with hot dogs; odd in my opinion). We each ordered the combination with three items; I had the flautas, chicken enchiladas and chile relleno. Everything was very fresh and delicious. Big portion! Service was pretty slow as it was a Friday evening, but I recommend stopping by for a happy hour drink or two!

Terrible!

By Matt F |

The service was awful, the food was cold, and the building was hot. Definitely a waste of time and money.

Favourite breakfast on New York Trip!

By kirsty_e |

Went here for breakfast as it was in walking distance and looked pretty good from the outside. I had pancakes with fresh fruit, there were 5 pancakes and they were huge! and absolutely delicious! My fiance had the breakfast buritto which he thoroughly enjoyed! Our waitress was so lovely and so helpful, and couldn't do enough for our time in there! She kept bringing me more maple syrup for my pancakes! Would definitely recommend!

Great Place in Midtown

I've eaten here twice. Both times the food and service were good. It's nothing outstanding but better for a quick bite between sightseeing.

Terrible

By John L |

Horrible rude staff. Left us waiting for a table in a half full restaurant. Then when I asked I was told by the awful woman seating people that she’d called for us. She did not and proceeded to argue with me. I paid for our drinks at the bar and when I left told her again that she never called us. She insisted she did and tried to enlist her friend / coworker in backing up her story. Which she couldn’t do and just remained silent. We then got a half hearted ‘sorry’ as we left. Seems they rely on location rather than service!

Dinner don’ts

By Kathleen S |

After the horrible Aladdin production our next horrible choice was eating here. Out of the wine I wanted so stuck with ice tea. The food arrived cold sent back came back warm. The cheese dip and chips when they eventually brought them was fabulous but the chicken nachos were at best disappointing. I guess one could eat here if you only eat queso but not great for other items and how do you run out of wine right before Christmas

good breakfast, fair prices. But, no service.

By Winstoniscute |

Good breakfast ( they do not have toast.....lol....) fair prices. The waitress made a special effort to get us toast, however, it was cold, and dry, no butter. Waitress said they did not have any. automatic 18% tip added onto bill here as well., but waitress never returned to our table once delivering breakfast, we had to seek out someone ourselves to get bill, never had a coffee refill, nothing that you would give a gratuity for ever happened. I am an excellent tipper. But...come on.....you tip for service. I think New York, at least in restaurants around hotels in times square, are a prime example why adding tip automatically onto a bill does not work. No incentive to do anything to earn the tip.

Expensive for poor quality

By HaJu_11 |

We ate here as it was close to attractions we were visiting close to Times Square. We chose the Chevys Super Cinco option and were really disappointed with the food quality. Everything tasted the same and we all got the impression the food had been reheated & not really that well as it was almost look warm. The chile relleno was awful & cold. It may well have been the time we visited, but I wouldn't ever return to eat here again. As every restaurant you visit in NYC add tips of 15-20% this was one place I really objected to leaving a service charge.

Marcela the "manager" SUCKS

By Kako G |

We have the worst experience ever! We sit in a broken table and fell down on our legs with many rusted screws, the waitress help us but Marcela was not in the place at the moment. Then the cook manager help us and change our table and as a compensation he gift us a round of free drinks, but Marcela came to our table to bother and questioning us regarding our complaints and we have a big fight with her, she was very rude with us and she manage for to leave the restaurant because she made us fell very uncomfortable and unappreciated. Our experience was unfortunately disastrous do to Marcela's poor costumers service skills. Thank to the waitress and the waiter for making our evening a little bit better. Please be careful with the furniture of this place. PS: the margarita with the little bottle of grand Manier it's awesome.

Great Mexican in Times Square

By ajjbaker |

We visited Chevys on a family recommendation. The food we had was tasty, well priced and the service great. We’d have no hesitation in going back.

slightly disappointing

By Villa1874 |

my family and I were coming to the end of our weeks stay in NY and were itching for some spicy Mexican food we chose Chevys because of its location and also we were catching the "Ride Tour2 which stops right outside the venue. we decided on the Nacho Grande as a collective starter which was both plentiful and tasty so we were looking forward to the main meal which arrived about 5 minutes after the starter! we wasn't ready for this and politely sent it back. the waiter was very apologetic and provided us with excellent service throughout. the main courses did arrive and I had the Chevy super Cinco which has 2 x different enchiladas, a taco and a Tamale with the added bonus of a pastry baked stuffed Chilli with mozzarella cheese inside. I have to say this was very very bland. absolutely no flavour, unseasoned and certainly not even the faintest touch of a spice. I tried half of each and it all tasted the same very disappointing. my family had the mini chimachangas which also had the same result resulting in us all not finishing the meal. which of course then resulted in us not ordering dessert. I would have given this venue a "poor" if it wasn't for the waiter who was clearly very good at his job.

Be hungry!

By Janice L |

Enjoyed an evening meal at this lively restaurant, busy busy, but had a really nice meal here with great service, friendly staff, good food and reasonably priced. If you go here, don't eat for the rest of the day! Very large portions, but was offered a box to take home any food that we couldn't eat! !

Fiesta Environment

By mimigucchi |

What an electric environment! Two floors available for you to dine. I went with family and they took us upstairs for the bigger tables. The music was festive and loud. The food is pricey but it is near Times Square. It was also delicious. It was my first time and they had a variety of items on the menu. I loved the quesadillas. The surf n turf is amazing. It had a mesquite grilled chicken taco, steak fajita and a shrimp crab enchilada. It is massive. Surely a great time and visit with family.

Always a great experience but””””

By Gugi B |

I visit this restaurant every other Friday for happy hour they HAD happy hour running until 8pm so it was great for us. Getting some guacamole, chips with delicious salsa in the house, the fajitas shrimp and skirt steak with rice, bean, corn, tortillas & delicious Chile rellenos... a very great time great experience & environment... but yesterday for my surprise I was told that the happy hour on Friday has changed to 12pm to 4pm I find this very absurd. Who goes at noon to have a drink tho? I really suggest for them to at least change to 5 or 6pm? However we told our waitres that we go there often and we always get the margaritas from happy hour she again said that the hours for happy hour have changed.. of course we stayed but it wasn’t the same.. at some point a saw our regular waitress LUCY I told her was what happening and that I was very upset because we are not just anybody we are regular customers in the end she spoke with our waitres and got the happy hour on the 2 drinks. I believe that restaurants should have better care of their regular customers. And by the way Lucy is great best waitres in the restaurant I had another waitres in another time terrible but she came to rescue us. Chevys please make sure you take good care of Lucy. Overall great place in the best area 1 block away from time square.

What a disappointment

By David B |

This has to be one of the worst experiences I’ve had in a restaurant - meat was tough as old boots and undercooked. They couldn’t get a beef burger right. Service poor stay clear of this place.

Fun night

By Nikki255109 |

Great food and drinks and great service too. Reasonable prices also. This turned into a fun night thanks to bar staff. Wouldn't hesitate to return

Long waiting time, poor food...

By L B A |

Visited mid-morning for breakfast. Only a few tables occupied, the orders were taken quickly but the wait for the food (2 sets of pancake stacks) was over 45 minutes! Apology provided by the server, but there was no excuse for such a wait. When the pancakes came - we were extremely disappointed. 1 strawberry chopped into small pieces, 2 blueberries and a drizzle of syrup (and no I am not exaggerating). We should have known better going to such a tourist trap, but we were grabbing a bus at the Port Authority station opposite. Avoid.

Lovedo this place!

By Lauren D |

I had never eaten at a Chevy's before this weekend but I now wish there were more near me! The food was excellent from my strawberry Cadillac margarita, to the table side made guac, to my skirt steak tacos, it was all delish! I also absolutely loved the mariachi band that played, so fun! As with everything in times Square it was pricy but worth it for the quality! Can't wait to go back again:)

Great food with location but poor service

By Scott M C |

Had dinner last Saturday evening. Restaurant was very nice with good location. Food was excellent but service was terrible. Salad was never delivered and server was not to be seen This is not a restaurant that we will return to when in the city

Greasy food

Not the best place to eat the toilets are also filthy would not recommend the food. Some of the staff were friendly but not great understanding of English

Great Food, Great Hangout

By cbouknight |

We were here last weekend, 11-13/11-14 for lunch. Shay took care of us the 13th and Daniel on the 14th. On the 13th, we ordered the Mexican Grilled Sampler and fries and the traditional margarita w/ a shot. On the 14th, we ordered Grilled Chicken Caesar salad, fajitas, and cheeseburger w/ fries, along with hot tea and cherry coke. The food was awesome. The service fantastic. The pricing terrific. Great location, right behind the Hampton Inn, next to the BOA, and just before the AMC theater. Chevy's is just a really cool Go-To place to have access to in your community. Seriously!

Excellent!!!

By GazzaP |

Had a lovely dinner here before heading to the NY Rangers game tonight (we won!!). Complimentary tortilla chips and a lovely dip arrived with our drinks then sizzling plates of chicken fajitas with all the trimmings and more. Excellent fast service and efficient friendly staff with mexican style music pumping out. Couldn't fault it!!

HORRIBLE SERVICE

By KimHughes |

We have visited this location several times, but this visit was horrible. The restaurant was not full by no means. The waiter clearly did not want to wait on our table for some reason. Other wait stuff we’re picking up his slack. The food was good, but service was unacceptable.

NYC TRIP

1st time eating at Chevys, had the cheese dip and the el machino tortillas. It was yummy. Service was good. Would definitely eat here again.
