Been here probably a dozen times, ever had a problem being ignored "as a woman" or anything else with the service here, is one of my favorite places and the salad bar is second to none. Love the atmosphere, my only complaint is it can get a bit crowded during busy times, the tables in certain parts are a little close together for me. Great bar and wine list, one of these days I will have to go there just for dessert as I have never been able to fit it after a meal!

Chima Brazilian Steakhouse is the best dining experience I've had in Philadelphia thus far! There's valet parking, always a plus. The salad bar is filled with all different types of greens but also quinoa, beans, and cheeses. The unlimited meat is flavored and cooked to perfection! The staff is extremely attentive, my waiter would be at my table asking if I needed something before I even made eye contact. The ambiance is perfect for a romantic dinner for two or a group dinner. I love it here! Go to Chima, and experience the best dining in Philadelphia!

It was our first time in a brazilian steak house and we loved it ! Amazing food and very good service, thanks Hamilton

Chima is an ideal restaurant for large groups. The buffet has a wide variety of salads and appetizers and soups to fill you even if you do not want to eat meat. They have a good variety of cuts of beef, they even have chicken and salmon(which people loved in my group). Beware, I noticed that they initially brought out the cheaper cuts of meat and once we were almost full they brought out the more expensive cuts. Overall the quality was good and the service was fast and friendly. The one negative aspect of the restaurant was that it was too noisy. I give it my GoldnAdvice seal of approval.

Went here for a family gathering under someone else's recommendation. Was expecting it to be a typical Brazilian steakhouse with average quality of food. Very nice decor, delicious food - fabulous big salad bar & endless delicious food that kept being brought out to our party until we were full! Delicious desserts too! Service was great too & I would highly recommend this restaurant!

I went to Chima for a best friend's birthday and the experience was mediocre. The waiter explained the menu variations in a convoluted way. It was hard to get a straight answer about which type of meat is available with each option. I think the waiters might feel pressure to upsell the menu to the highest option and maybe that is why they are unable to articulate the meats option in a clear and concise format. I was a party of six: a few of the people in my party either didn't eat red meat or pork, or both but came because the birthday girl loves meat. However, the waiter begun with a speech that essentially said if you try another person's food you will be charged for a full meat course. I found the notion that I would go to restaurant to eat off another person plate insulting. Also two waiters mentioned the "rules" prior to our order even been placed. I am unsure if this is because a few in the party requested fish/chicken option only or if this is a common lecture that all patrons receive. I was not interested in eating meat, or I would have ordered the meat portion, but to be insulted with a lecture about food sharing is not acceptable. It never occurred to me come to restaurant and eat off of a friend's plate. The server was friendly but not well informed and I understand that it is a steakhouse however it isn't that strange for a non meat eater/non red meat eater, or non pork eater to come to the establishment for celebratory occasions. As infrequently as that may occur I think that the waiter should be equipped to answer questions regarding available options. The salad bar is clean, and tidy however the available salad options components did not necessarily fit together in a cohesive manner. The pricing is on the high side on par with Barclay Prime however the experience on par with the Cheesecake Factory.

We have recently moved to the Philly area. Had Brazilian in our old digs, so we were testing this place out. Love it. The salad bar is simply scrumptious. The choices of meat is fantastic. They will even serve you how you want it cooked (becomes more rare as they take slices off). At one point service slowed down. Once we let them know, service was top notch once again.

We had a family dinner at Chima with our American family while visiting from Australia in October 14 and loved it. The quality of the food was incredible, the buffet was fabulous- there was enough selection to keep even our fussiest (Miss 5) eater satisfied. The meats were devine, cooked to perfection & just kept coming!! We had 2 waiters whom were very attentive- we didn't really have to ask for anything, except the bill at the end of the night. We had drinks in the bar while waiting for our party to arrive and the barman provided fabulous service- very friendly & professional. The only downer, we found was the atmosphere. It wasn't overly busy during our visit, both in the bar & restaurant and at times throughout the evening, it felt very stilted and a little too quiet if that makes sense? I know everyones experience is incredibly subjective, but overall, we throughly enjoyed ourselves, ate way to much & were the absolute last party to leave the restaurant! We would definitely come back!

As with other Brazilian steakhouses, it's all you can eat meat! When we went it was during restaurant week, so it was very busy. There was a deal available for a cheaper price that limits the types of meats you would be served, but we opted for the full menu. For restaurant week, they also included a small dessert for everyone. Dress code was a little more relaxed too during this time. There are quite a few types of meat you can choose from. When the serve comes by, just tell him how you wanted the meat prepared and he'll slice off some for you. Tell him when you want him to stop. If you want to stop being served for a bit, just flip over the colored card. Pretty basic. There is also small salad bar that has salads, cheeses, and different types of cold meats. Also an option to just get the salad bar. Overall, very satisfying. Everyone had enough, if not too much to eat. I would go again, but probably not for restaurant week. It was too crowded for my tastes.

We made a reservation for 7pm Saturday and arrived just before 7pm and were promptly seated. The 2 waiters we had were very good. The salad bar was very good with numerous selections. They bring you vegetables and water, then the meats begin. The meats and salmon were all excellent and not really salty like other Brazialian restaurants I’ve been to. It was a bit expensive, but very enjoyable. When we left just after 8pm, there were a lot of people waiting to be seated. Do yourself a favor and make a reservation.

In the land of pizza and burgers this is heaven. Not cheap, but for $75 including a nice bottle of wine (the most enthusiastic sommelier I've ever met in the USA!) there is an impressive salad bar as a starter. When you're done with the greens, smoked salmon and prosciutto you can stop any passing gaucho by turning a card on your table. Gauchos carry meats on a skewer, from leg of lamb to flank steak (top!) , from filet mignon to rib-eye. They know exactly where to cut for medium rare or well done. Great concept, but it was the quality that impressed. Best meat we had during our trip. Highly recommended when you're in Philly.

The dishes are delicious, the servers are very friendly, and you get the best value for your money. They are at the same quality level as Texas de Brazil and Fogo de Chao. You will love this place!

What a surprise! The restaurant was a welcoming place. The 5 of us had intentions of sampling the meats. BUT when we checked out the salad bar--- we stopped there. We had such a grand time trying all the different offerings. The soup was great. The salads were unique. The appetizers on our table disappeared quickly. The sides they placed on the tables also went especially the fried bananas and potatoes . No room for dessert. Service was supreme. Our visit was entirely enjoyed by all of us. Took a long walk after our meal.

Be ready to eat! The salad bar is a delight but if you want to have room for the abundance of pork, beef, chicken, lamb, & sausage the very gracious waiters bring your way. This place is great whether you're dining with a group, on a date, or as I discovered, dining alone. You won't be disappointed!

Have been to Chima twice recently for lunch. They have a business express lunch that includes a very extensive salad bar which can be paired with a protein. I've had the lamb chops and the steak. On both trips, the salad bar as well as the meats were excellent. Price is also very reasonable for what you get.

Was here for business and did not see how much the meal was but really enjoyed it. The short ribs were fantastic. You have a buffet of sides and then they bring the meat around and you can tell them yes or no to what you feel like eating. The start by bringing out the cheaper cuts and work their way up to the more expensive ones so pace yourself and try a little bit of everything. I really enjoyed the rice and beans along with the different salads and side dishes. Everything was really good but as I said the short ribs were fantastic and melted in your mouth.

Came here with my partner. The food and service was delicious! They had one of the best salad bar selections I’ve ever seen! The Brazilian sodas were delicious too! I look forward to going back!

Have been to Chima multiple times - mostly business lunches and dinners. In the past, the food and services were average - but the most recent one was poor. Not only the selection were bad - my favorite lamb never came... but the service was horrible as well. The server would come to one or two people at the table, then ignored the rest and moved on to the next table. Some people at my table complained - highlighting the problem. So, the way they solved it were to target them, ignored the rest, and moved on... It was also the only time (in all my experience which was over a dozen times) that the server didn't confirm whether everyone has the meat that they looking for during the meal. Recommendation - stick with Fogo de Chao

We had a Holiday dinner with great service. The buffet is plenty full , lots of choices, different salads, sauces to accompany your meat grilled. You can chose lamb, beef, porc, fish, you can choose your meat cut. Good wine selection and excellent desserts. It is a Brazilian restaurant not an Agentinian restaurant.

We had a family dinner for 9 at Chima tonight. The food was very good and the servers friendly and attentive. We had finished our meal and dessert and were sitting, talking and enjoying our company. We had been seated less than 2 hours and dropped $750. The general manager (Marcos?) came to our table and asked if we were going to order any more food drinks, etc not once but several times with a frozen smile. He didn't ask us if we enjoyed the food, appreciated the service, the reason for our celebration or anything else. It was obvious that we wanted us out. There were no parties waiting to be seated. Thanks for showing your appreciation. You really want us out? Glad to oblige. We'll be going to Fogo de Chao next time.

Good quality Brazilian food. All you can eat formula, staff will walk by with all sorts of meats with the usual attempt to have you eat the not so special stuff first, starting with a selection of appetizers and a big salad bar. The steaks are very good, as you would expect (but not always encounter :-)). The Malbec is also recommended.

Terrible management taking care of large parties and ignoring smaller tables. My table of 4 spent over $400 but NEVER saw half of the menu. No beef ribs, no filet, no lamb chops, no bacon wrapped filet......did see the poor drumstick guy more than once. Really disappointed that I had convinced my sister and brother in law to join us. Asked 3 different servers to have Gauchos cone by and were ignored

Go here with an empty stomach and a focus to enjoy. Lovely food abs service. No complaints here. The whiskey selection is limited so I stuck to lemon water to focus my time on the food. Best move I made.

Took My BF there for his birthday. First time we were ever there. Salad bar was awesome. Food was GREAT. Learned a little for next time. Only get a little salad then start eating and go back for salad. Staff was FANTASTIC. If you leave there hungry its your own fault. Cant wait to go back

This was my first visit, for Mother's Day and it was nice. No real disappointments at all. The food is in excess so be careful not to over do it. I was open to trying everything that was available, and encourage everyone to try as well. I caution you though to not take too big of portions of anything until you know what you really like the most, then get more of that one. Otherwise, you can fill quickly and not even make it through the rounds of meat or the yummy sides. You will get appetizers (can ask for more), the salad bar (as much as you want), the meat (as much as you want), and sides like creamy potatoes, fried banana, etc. (again, as much as you want). See a trend here? That is why it is easy to fill up fast and you may be disappointed that you didn't get to try more things. I do wish dessert was included or at least a small dessert/fruit plate of some kind. They are available, just at an added cost. A guest of mine got a can of gingerale and that was $4. The servers and gauchos were attentive, friendly, open to explaining everything, etc. A couple of servers told us they were new so didn't have all the answers or familiarity but it was okay. They still did great. If we passed on a 2nd round of meat, the gauchos would ask if we wanted something specific, and they would send it over. Nice ambiance. I read another reviewing saying music might be nice and I agree. Although then maybe I wouldn't have been able to enjoy conversation at my table the way we did. A couple of meat dishes were way over cooked and too salty to eat, like the chicken and pork, but we suspect that happens from time to time and maybe it was a rush. All in all, great time. The valet was a great thing too! This restaurant leans toward fine dining atmosphere but not stuffy at all. We saw casually dressed patrons and those dressed to the nines. No one was out of place at all. A very good experience. No, would not be my go to restaurant or to visit often but very happy we visited and thank Chima for a wonderful time.

We dined this evening with the Weintraub’s at CHIMA on JFK blvd. Too much to eat, but excellent, the food was superb, tasty, done perfect and so plentiful. The atmosphere is lovely, the service could not have been any better. The salad bar has everything imaginable and fresh and wonderful. What a treat, we all loved our meal, so if you like meat of all kinds, visit CHIMA for a superb dinner.

The meat was great, and the variety was amazing. We had a great evening, and as long as your card that is on your table is flipped over to green they will keep coming by. They had filet mignon, chicken, steak, pork chops, it was great. Then they had a salad bar with soups, rice, beans, and a variety of sides and vegetarian options. They also had a great drink selections, and a great wine list. We had a great dinner and would absolutely go back next time we are in Philadelphia.

My sig other & I had a fun fun birthday celebration for his 60th. The salad bar is full of mouthwatering options, highlights including prosciutto, calamari salad, quinoa salad, & marinated artichokes. Sides of polenta, potatoes, & fried bananas arrive at the table and THEN, the endless parade of succulent meats! Sirloin, filet mignon, lamb, chicken, sausages keep coming & coming until you cry uncle!

in addition to having an off the chart salad bar,; the meat selections and servings are off the chart. This place is wonderful! Food! Service, and servers! It is a bit pricey, but the food is all of outstanding quality. The beverages and dessert are what make's it really expensive, but if you just want to splurge.!! Go right ahead.

Good selection of salads on the salad bar. The fried cheese they bring to your table was tasty. They were quite accommodating to me only earring fish, no beef, chicken or pork. I got a special card to flip when I was ready and the guys with meat would bring me fish. We also had the chocolate lava cake for dessert. All was tasty and we left with over stuffed bellies.

Chima never disappoints. Reservations are always honored in a timely fashion (never any of this "would you like to wait in the bar" nonsense with an empty dining room); service is solicitous and professional without being intrusive, and food quality is among the best in the city. Chima also beats its top-tier competition in one other critically important area: noise control. Few things can ruin a meal more quickly than needless, inescapable noise, and among even first-class destinations, only Chima seems to understand this. By resisting this insane modern craze of "warehouse" dining, Chima has maintained its carpets, drapes, tablecloths and other noise-absorbing decor. The blessed result is, you can actually converse with your fellow diners without shouting. This attention to *atmosphere* is unmatched anywhere else in town. Bravo, Chima!

Decided to try Chima's new business lunch with a group of coworkers for a birthday and was pleasantly surprised. The service was excellent and the meal flowed nicely. The buffet was a bit limited from their normal offerings but the meat options were delicious and filling. Everyone left full and happy. Definitely recommend this for business folks looking for a delicious, quick meal.

We visited here last night 10.09.14 for a family catch up with US relatives. We weren't familiar with this style of restaurant (have never been to one in Aust before); and we were not disappointed!!!! Our service attendants were Harvier and Xavier. They were both very attentive and kept us very well fed & drinks topped up all night!! The salad buffet was full of amazingly fresh food and every piece of meat we had was deliciously moist and cooked to perfection. The deserts were lovely. I had the Passionfruit mousse which was delicious, of course. Overall, we left with very stuffed tummies and happy memories of Chima. After travelling through the states for over 4 weeks and having eaten at a multitude of restaurants, Chima by far has been my favourite!!! :-)

My husband and I went to try something new. We have been to Fogo De Chao in Baltimore and had a fantastic experience there as well. I was a little worried that we wouldn't have a good time because of the reviews, but learned that some things you just have to experience yourself. We had a great night. We were early for a 6pm reservation and they do not seat until 5:30pm. There is a bar in the front of the restaurant and we waited there to be called for our seats. We were at Chima's for 1.5 hours. Our hostess Valeria was personable and explained the experience to us. I did try the salad bar which is loaded with many things to try like smoked salmon, various vegetable mixes, prosciutto and fruit. I enjoyed the salad bar! We enjoyed all of the meats, although my husband who likes his meat well done often had to wait for another piece of meat to come by to get what he wanted. We weren't fans of the fish, salmon and swordfish, but obsessed over the Parmesan cheese bread and mashed potatoes. The music did not quite fit the atmosphere as it was today's pop/top 40 music, but we were seated closer to the front where the bar is. I am not sure if music was played or could be heard in the back of the restaurant. The music made it less of a romantic atmosphere, but sometimes we caught ourselves bobbing our heads to the music. I received a great wine recommendation, plates were cleared very quickly, and there was no shortage of excellent service! The price per person is about $55 for salad bar and meat! Everything is unlimited, with the exception of drinks and dessert! Fantastic time and service.

Our party of 6 went for dinner. We were seated immediately The restaurant was busy but comfortable and not chaotic. Our service team was very attentive and prompt in satisfying our needs. The buffet was exceptional with the quality of food achieving gourmet standards. The meat quality and selections were excellent, offering a wide variety at your desired temperatures. Great ambiance, great food, and great experience.

We like Brasillian. So this was a nice visit Food was good but a bit garlicky. I wasn concerned because as woman at table I was kind of ignored. They catered to my date. I was excited to go but with the service probably won't go back. Not a bad place just expected better

Went with a group of 12 and had a wonderful time. The salad bar is huge - you could easily make a meal of it and not need the regular dinner. Soups, veggies, lots of other items. The dinner was exceptional. Great service and the choice of meats and fish was superb. All beautifully prepared and tasty. The side dishes and deserts were great, too. A wonderful evening at a great restaurant.

We happened to be driving by Chima earlier in the day, and decided to stop by for dinner later. It's very much so like Fogo with unlimited meats and a well appointed salad bar. The hubby kept commenting "what's the price?!" And for good reason, because it isn't posted anywhere or on any of the printed materials at your table. At roughly $50pp excluding drinks and desserts, come with an empty stomach and ready to get your money's worth. The staff was very good about bringing by a meat selection that may have alluded you, or ran out before it got to your table. I believe our waiter as Ryan, and he was quite attentive and helpful. Would definitely go back again!

I had lunch at Chima with some co-workers on a Thursday afternoon. The restaurant was fairly empty, which is unusual for center city. The lunch menu is very straight forward. Chima is a prix-fix restaurant, and the meal includes unlimited salad bar and your choice of either Brazilian-style steak, chicken, or salmon. The salad bar has a wide variety of very fresh salads offering everything from a make-your-own wedge to various vegetable and fruit salads, to traditional black beans and rice. Just don't expect a garden salad; there were none of the build your own salad choices that one would typically see at an American-style salad bar. My group enjoyed everything we tried from the salad bar except the potato salad, which was bland. The "proteins" as they call them, were a bit disappointing, but in different ways. Three of us had the steak. The portion size was generous for lunch, with 2 pork-chop size steaks each, but the steaks were tough. I had ordered mine medium rare, and it came out medium well. The final two members of my party had the salmon. It looked delicious, and they enjoyed it, but the portions were very small, less than half the size of the steak portions. (Unlike at dinner, Chima does not offer all you can eat protein during lunch.) On the positive side, the service was very good. Our wait team was professional, friendly, and attentive without hovering over us. Lastly, the restaurant is a great value for a sit-down center city venue. Our bill, including tax and 20% tip came to $25 per person If I try Chima again, it would probably be at dinner time, when small portions won't be an issue, and I will stay away from the steak.

Being a big fan of Brazilian Steakhouses, we had to try! So glad we did. Service was 5 star. The food was done to perfection. Thank You to Rubia, our head waitress and her team that night. And a special shout out to the chef for stopping by.

I have visited Chima a couple of times a month recently as it is close to my office. The salad bar is great with lots of offerings. They just expanded their protein to include lamb and filet mignon. It is a good place for a business lunch as you can have a quiet conversation in a nice atmosphere with good food.

I love the Brazilian steak house concept. I have been to this place before. Yesterday it was packed because they have extended their restaurant week. The service was average, our waiter showed the super will. The salad bar was average. The quality of the meat is average. I cant compare with Texas Brazil of Florida. I should say that, this place is always considerable in Philly restaurants.

It is a classic one. Salad bar is plentiful. The usual meats are all present. Decent quality but nothing try o brag about. They had some shrimp and salmon and swordfish filets as well. Ambiance is really nice as well service.

Be prepared to eat a lot. Excellent salad bar. Don't forget to try the "fraldinha", the "picanha" and all great cuts of the Brazilian way of eating meat.

We took our two adult sons for their birthdays to Chima, their choice for a celebration. We were seated promptly and the service was excellent. Our server did try to sell us a bottle of wine (2 drinkers) versus 2 glasses, however, beyond that she was terrific. The quality of the food was excellent with the flank steak, angus beef and top sirloin were this crowd's favorite, and we appreciated the tiramisu with candles as a happy ending. Keep the cheesy bread and mashed potatoes coming, our family was super happy!

I came here with my family and was told we couldn't eat because my daughters were wearing "gym attire". The staff were unpolite, especially Tara. I called to make reservations and never was told about the dress code. They asked us to go home and change, but we refused to do so because we live 45 minutes away, they offered to us to speak to the manager, and they called security before calling the manager. They had a very intimidating guy standing next to us the whole time, and the manager, Edgar Da Silva, when he finally came was of no help. My young daughters didn’t understand what was happening and why we were being treated like that. We had to pay their Valets full price for being there 10 minutes (most of the time waiting for the manager) Overall a very bad experience, not returning there. We ended up going to Fogo de Chao, with no dress code, great ambience, and most importantly great food.

went here to give it a shot and the quality/service was awful. the meats were of inferior preparation and it was actually hard to get staff to show up. very unfortunate as we would have liked an alternative to fogo.

We had a party of 5 and after reading the reviews of bad service I was hesitant to go here as I've eaten at Fogo De Chao numerous times. We waited a bit for our reservation but once we were seated within 2 minutes our waiter Darnell? was there to take our drink order. Throughout the meal he and several other waiters were right there with water, take our empty plates, etc. The food was delicious and we had an awesome time. The price is the same as Fogo (although I do have to say the salad bar here, although adequate, is smaller than Fogo's). I'd come back to Chima's in a heartbeat.

Of the Brazilian Steak houses in the greater Philadelphia area I previously had Chima at the top of the pack. After being away from this spot for 3 years I found the food, service and menu slipping to average. The place offers good value with a quality wine list and decent service. However, the quality and taste have slipped below the others. I was disappointed to see this place slip into mediocrity. When I visited Chima 3 years earlier, everything was over the top. Now it is just an average Brazilian Steak house with very average offerings. Disappointed

You would not necessarily expect to find such an extensive salad bar filled with unique items in a steak house, but Chima's is really excellent. For the carnivores, they bring meat to the table which they carve for you. We were there during a quiet time so did not have any service issues.

I wish I could give two distinct ratings: one for food, and another for service. The food- 5 stars, the service 2 1/5 stars. Since bad service really distracts from great food- I'm giving an overall 3 stars. In the past two years I've hosted 2 parties (10+ people) and 4 dinners of at least 4 people- never a bad meal as far as food goes. Salad bar is very impressive, the meats never disappoint, but the service has, and I mean this for every time we've dined there, let us down. The service always starts off wonderful, very attentive, and then, every time, drops dramatically. At least twice, I've had to go in search of our waiter, by asking another waiter or even a manager. Getting refills for drinks has been the biggest problem, with the second being removal of dirty plates/glasses. And even when the card is flipped to green, we've had a lot of Gauchos walk past us to other tables.

Recent dinner with my daughter for Belated Birthday. Outstanding dinner. Worth every dollar. The Rodizio with Lobster Monday left us beyond full. Wide variety at the salad bar. The salamon for fish lovers is a must. Each meat (filet and lamb my personal favorites) were exquisite. Nice cheesecake for Bday. On the way out drop your business card in "fish bowl" for a chance to win 2 free dinners. I won !!!! Like hitting the lottery. Valet parking still needs some work but more time to digest. KUDOS !!!

This was my first visit to Chima and I was not disappointed. We where there to celebrate my uncles 50th birthday. Great food large selection of meats. I would definitely return for another round.

The manager Marcos Zarza was very attentive and kind. Great hosts; we had an amazing time. My family and I loved everything! The food was top notch and the meat specifically was wonderful!!

Four co-workers and I visited Chima for Happy Hour and dinner during restaurant week. We arrived early so we sat in the bar and had a drink. We were called to our table about 15 mins later. We paid for our drinks (half price) and went to our table. We were greeted by a friendly waitress who explained everything to us. The food was to die for. The service was stupendous!! Being unsure of the time Happy Hour was over we askedthe Mgr. He said it was until 6:30 and brought us over a card with the advertisement on it. It said "Happy Hour 4-6:30 pm at Chima"!! Two of us ordered another drink before 6:30 and they charged us full price! Mgr said it was only in the bar! It did not say "only in the bar"! There was no apology, just an "Oh Well, I assumed you knew it was in the bar"! Totally unacceptable for a manager to say that. He should have advised us when we were asking about it!! Other than that everything was great!! We will be writing to corporate about the manager!!!

Very impressed, not a place for children. The staff was pleasant and the food was top of the line. A bit pricey but well worth it. There was nothing that I did'nt like about this resturant. I say treat yourself and go.

In Philadelphia they are not normally open for lunch but today I and my fellow 5 Red Hat Ladies lunched here..Each month a member picks a place to eat so this is why I ended up there and for around $26.00 we had a feast of so many different picks from their amazing salad bar and they were constantly circulating with their different meats, chicken and salmon..I had a little bit of everything and everyone was very pleased. Our waiter was excellent and everyone else was too...

We've never been to a Brazilian steakhouse and have heard wonderful things about this place, they do not disappoint. Definitely worth the experience, make reservations, peruse the salad bar but don't fill up, and wait for the meat to wander around. Sixteen different types of meat, constantly being offered. Our waiter Patrick was.... AWESOME!!! If you're a meat lover this is your type of place.... Go and eat the meat!!!

I go there to have great variety of salads. I am vegetarian so not much interested in steaks. They brought grilled vegetables though.

Great food!!! Fine items on the salad bar, well seasoned meats e fun cocktails. A great experience for all my guests.

Okey I think we were lucky at that night as the restaurant's waiting list wasn't so full so we got in so fast,, the salad bar was really amazing! I latterly don't recall any other restaurants with such delightful and colorful options! well, I guess if thats what I said about the salad bar then my overall opinion of the main courses will be predictable ;P I totally recommend this restaurant!

I must be honest and say that the food is delicious however the customer service from management is what I'll refer to as the "bottom of the barrel". My friends took me to Chimas for my birthday because I was 4 months pregnant and I love meat. After having an amazing dining experience, we went to get our car from Chimas valet service to fond that they had lost our keys. After waiting for 30min for the car, we were told that they had lost our car keys. We continued to wait for the keys to be found which amounted to 2 hours. Markos (the manager) came out and said that he would offer us a complimentary dining experience for the extreme inconvenience and my swollen feet. I emailed Markos at marcos.zarza@chimasteakhouse.com and left several voicemails and never received a response. I think that he lied to keep me calm because he could clearly see that I was pregnant. As long as you don't need amazing customer service or your car from the valet at a decent time, this is the place to go to enjoy your meal. The food I must say is delicious.

Absolutely horrible restaurant. I wish I could give them zero stars. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. To begin, we booked this location with their “large party coordinator”, Jackie. She was unable to give an accurate quote for THREE months. Basic math was unable to be done in order to give me a quote so that I could make a deposit. After THREE MONTHS of basic math failure and going back and forth I was finally able to get a quote because I had to tell her each and every part of the bill, where she went wrong, and how the bill should be laid out. Then the day comes, that I made a reservation for a large party for (January 17, 2020 from 6pm-9pm). My party came and began to eat and noticed the food was dried out and nasty. They claim they bring different cuts of meat, it was all the same thing and taste the same, nasty, but they called it a different name. At 8:10pm the manager, after staring at us since we walked in at 6pm, came over to me and my guest and told us that they needed us to hurry up because they needed the section to sit other guest. I booked the area for 6pm-9pm. I was not placed in the semi private room that I reserved in the quote and now they were telling us that we had to leave 50 minutes early because they needed the space. At that time my guest was still eating and getting up to get food from the salad bar. Well the three guest at the end of the table got up to go to the salad bar and when they returned, the manager and other staff had already taken their table, removed their belongs, and redressed the table because they were ready to seat another party. VERY RUDE and UNPROFESSIONAL!! Then once we noticed how rude they were, we began to pack our things because we no longer wanted to be there. During this time, one of the waiters came and removed a glass of water FROM MY GUESTS HAND! My guest were still talking and drinking water at this time. The manager and waiter came and broke down the tables, took glasses of water from my guest hand, and redressed the table for the next guest before me and my guest could even put our coats on to leave. This was my wedding reception and people flew in from out of town to enjoy the occasion with me. It was beyond rude and unprofessional for them to act in such a way. To make it worse, I finally had time to settle and look at the receipt and the restaurant over charged us by more than 3 people. I was charged for more people than how many actually attended and I was charged adult prices for children that I had already discussed with Jackie would be charged the childrens rate. I have called every day since January 18, 2020 about a refund for the amount I was over charged and every day the manager has another excuse as to why the he/she can not come to the phone and reimburse me my money that they shouldn’t have taken in the first place. This is worst Brazilian steakhouse in Philadelphia. Save yourself the time and hassle and go to Fogo De Chao. Not only is the food so much better at Fogo De Chao, you actually get different meats coming to your table and the hospitality will be well above anything you will ever receive and this restaurant.

Having visited Chima 3 times in 6 weeks, yes we did - I can say that the meat is just great.. The service overall is very good too, they are very attentive and wanting to help. The only REAL disappointment we had was on our last visit (I also must take responsibility for not questioning it when I agreed) when we sat down, the server very promptly started to sell us a special deal they had on which was a pitcher of "some" cocktail - I couldn't tell you what it was, but a whole bunch of different fruits and punch / liquor etc - my partner and I agreed! I could only stomach two sips, the sugar count was just incredible - like an inch thick in the pitcher, tasted awful - my partner didn't finish her glass either. We asked the server to take it back and order a couple of glasses of wine - when the bill came we were billed $70 for it... YES $70 - disgusting, we asked them to remove it - they wouldn't. I was so disappointed. So just be warned - do NOT take the pitcher of sugar. Otherwise everything else is great - do not overfill yourself on the salad - enjoy the meat!!!!!! Enjoy.. Martyn :)

A bus tour to Philly from DC I was on yesterday stopped here for lunch - we had just salad bar and dessert (although from checking menus on-line I see that the restaurant also serves the expected meat entries if so desired). My review is focusing just on my meal - and the salad bar was excellent! So many interesting choices - different combinations from what you usually see (potato-chicken salad!) and so many different tastes. My plate was just about full when I was halfway thru the first side of the salad bar. (Guess I need to return to see what I missed) Every dish I tried was delicious. I definitely would return for the salad bar alone - and plan to try the Northern VA location. The service was great and the atmosphere pleasant. Alas, I sampled so many salads, I was unable to finish the chocolate cake dessert (quite rich in taste - a dessert to die for!) A word for the wise, don't fill up too fast on the salad bar alone. Because this was part of a packaged tour, I'm unable to comment on value - I expect the meal may be a bit pricey.

A wonderful place to bring in the new year. We went on New Year’s Day for her first evening meal out in the new year. As always Chima was the best. We had a few drinks at the bar before our reservation and then a wonderful evening of food and chatter. Our servers were wonderful. There wasn’t a large crowd that they’re usually is so it felt like the meets were coming around and plenty supply.

Delicious meal. The salad bar had a over 25 items to select from. I especially enjoyed the seafood salad, the quinoa, the Arabian salad, and the farina, to name a few. The meat choices were endless and very tasty. Thumbs up to the succulent short ribs, the steak was also on the point. I enjoyed the comfortable seat spacing, the friendly and attentive waiters, the constant servings of the different meats and the lovely ambiance.

Very nice couples outing. Easy parking and we were seated immediately. Good food and ambiance. A bit pricy but food and service are worth it!

What can I say, stay away from the salad bar because you will fill up to fast. The food was great, I loved the rare sirloin but everything I ate was fantastic. I loved it!

Endless salad bar and endless meat! The salad bar was spectacular-not your ordinary run-of the-mill salad bar. The meat selections were outstanding. There was a variety of steaks, BBQ, chicken, lamb and shrimp and all were cooked to your choice and were tender and tasty, even the sausage was good and I normally stay away from sausage since I don't care for them. The salmon was very good. Didn't care much for the swordfish, a little too dry. All in all, if you are a meat eater this is YOUR place. The service was great. Kudos to the waitstaff - they were on top of everything.

This was my first time going to a Brazilian Steakhouse, but my co-workers had told me of their amazing experience at others and wanted to give this one a try. We went on a Sunday afternoon, first day of Restaurant week - made reservations and all was well. On the website it states there is complimentary valet parking, but they forgot to update the information and let everyone know that there's an exception to that during Restaurant Week and that there is a charge of $18. In my opinion, that was an unexpected expense that I should have been warned about. We arrived a little early, but were seated at just about the time of the reservation. Unfortunately, we were seated at the wrong table (it was a party of 4, only 2 of us were there and they were okay with us waiting for them at the table - a table of 6). After entrees were served, our waitress comes over and tells us there was a mistake and we would need to be moved - she asked politely, we were understanding about it - but we were pretty settled in already when they realized the mistake ... hmm, 15 minutes in for you to realize you have to move us? The food, excellent. There were plenty of choices at the salad bar and I cannot take away that the quality of the food was amazing. It was flavorful, at good temperature, that is, when we were able to get them to stop at our table and not skip over us - which happened often, even when we had our chip flipped to the green side. The waitress was attentive enough to put in order for a specific type of meat we wanted, but even then, it took 10+ minutes for them to actually stop by. I did not consume any of the alcoholic beverages, did not have dessert, but by the looks of it they had a very nice selection. Would I go back? Maybe. For the $35 I paid to the usual $55 that it is, it was a nice experience. But I don't think I would dine there again paying full price and getting that type of service.

My husband made reservations on New Year's Eve for 830pm. We were called to sit about 845pm. Once seated, the waiter took our drink order (2 unsweetened iced teas) and we left for the salad bar. Upon our return, no drinks. We were half way through dinner before our beverages arrived. Dessert (one slice of key lime pie) took long as well. Overall, food was good. Service was slow, I assume due to the holiday. There was some confusion as to who our waiter was, for another girl was serving our drinks and clearing away our plates. dinner for two with champagne toast was $70 per person. After non-alcoholic beverages, dessert, tax, and tip, it was almost $200. Not sure it was worth the money.

Went with my husband last Sunday in the first day of Philly restaurant week. Was a great food. There was so much appetizers and salad that I had just one piece of meat. Awesome food. Brazilian barbecue is the best!

Want a good Brazilian Steakhouse? Go somewhere else. The food was good, the salad buffet was excellent, but the puzzle pieces did not fit together. To be fair, my experience was during a group luncheon and may not pertain to small party dining. However, when the sirloin was brought out, they skipped my side of the table on the first 4 rounds until one diner loudly asked them to come. Then the beef was only well done and we had to wait for another server. Then the server sliced an outer ring slice that was 90% fat for me and I asked for a different slice and the server refused. Obviously, this will not be where I choose to dine.

You don't have to have endless meat here. You can order the salad bar alone. It's the best salad bar! Everything is fresh, beautiful and delicious. It's my Go To place for a healthy lunch. Of course the meats are perfectly prepared and they offer a wonderful Salmon. The location is a little off the beaten path, but go there anyway

Our party of 5 went tonight to celebrate a special occasion. Just thankful we enjoyed each others company so we could make the best of this place. We barely saw our waiter so when we wanted a drink we had to flag somebody down to find our waiter. The meat was overly dry and the salmon was unedible. The lamb chops never came around even though they were offered and included in our meal and price we paid. Two of us from my party went to the ladies room where one of us was next to a women in a stall (who was bare footed?? its winter and 20 degree out??) she was throwing up on the floor and spraying on my friends leg with her throw-up. The throw-up person ruined one bathroom, moved to another stall and continued throwing up NOT in the toilet but on the floor. UGH! I went to tell management, but nobody did anything until we went to another manager. It was disgusting...... we paid good money to go to dinner and dealt with this........management seemed to not care about anything. We went to the bar after dinner to watch the remainder of the game and one of the managers came up to the bar for a glass of wine for himself. My husband mentioned some of the issues and he said, "try us when its not restaurant week, its different". Funny thing we didn't' know it was restaurant week....we booked this months ago!! So when its not restaurant week service is better?? We are all waitresses and bartenders and are in the business down the shore. We treat all the same whether its the beginning of the season on the end and I would expect the same from a place that charges the amount of money Chima does! Disgrace. This place was not somewhere we'd return. I felt like I was a overpriced fast food restaurant.

The salad bar has a number of delightful and interesting treats. I recommend the Chima Mohito, it's perfect. Enjoy any cut of meat you like, cooked the way you like it. I love this place.

I haven't had a bad experience there yet. It can get a little busy to where you r waiting for people to come around, but when you tell them your favorite they start appearing everywhere. The people there are not really sociable but your there to eat right. Overall I would definitely go here again.

We went there this evening and had a pleasant experience. its a very nice decorated restaurant, the food is good special the meat, its prepared from top grade meat. the service is exceptional, very knowledgeable servers with a big smile. The price is a bit high , but worth the experience.

Delicious salad-bar, but for the prices they have, the meats are not that good. We didn't get to try all on their list, even though we asked for it, it never came, so don't get fooled by the extensive list. Two of the wines we wanted were sold out - they have an electronic wine list, so it should've been easy to update? We had trouble getting in touch with our waiter, but when they were there, they were friendly. Even though the restaurant was full, we didn't feel crowded since there was enough room between tables and ours were not located in the middle.

I've been to other Brazilian-style steakhouses many times (most recently Fogo de Chao). I was expecting nothing special at Chima when I attended a business dinner. But, I was pleasantly surprised to find that Chima stands on its own. The decor was modern and pleasing and open and the food was delicious. The service was good and overall a very nice dining experience. A gem in Philly.

14 gathered to celebrate. Beautiful restaurant, excellent food and good service. They served the Birthday Cake we brought for the celebration.

For what it is, it’s fine. There’s a large salad bar including lots of grains, vegetable choices, sliced cured meats and cheese, rice and beans. Soup is also available. There’s various choices of meat, poultry and salmon was available. This is an excellent choice for large groups, business meetings and definitely for the less adventurous eater. The lamb was my favorite if the meats offered along with flank steak. My least favorite were the chicken on skewers, I thought they were rubbery and over cooked. Desserts were adequate but not worth the calories.

Never a let down. The salad bar is fantastic. The meats and fish are always delicious. Must experience at least once.

I attended a bar event at this restaurant and it was really good. They are offering 3 special drinks made by Hop Sing Laudromat.

This is the third time I have eaten here. The first time, I walked away overstuffed. The second time I was smarter and waited for my favorite meats. This time I knew exactly what I really wanted to try and waited. It was a great stategy and even though I still ate too much, I felt much better than the last times. To start out the "salad bar " is amazing. You can easily fill up right there so you have to be smart. When the servers start to come around with the selections of meats etc it is overwhelming. The meats are delicious and you can get it any way you like. The fish and chicken also looked delicious even though I did not try them. Maybe next time. My absolute favorite is the lamb chops. They should not be missed. After all that food we were served cheesecake for dessert. I could not even touch it. I could not go here too often because there is so much food.

So my husband and I have been to Chima's a few times and it has always been great! The servers are so attentive, courteous, and super friendly! It does take a while for the servers to go over the menu with you so be patient! Yes, the menu is on an iPad, but it's 2014, that's not a big deal! The smell of delicious meats roasting is wafting through the air so you probably won't be able to focus on anything the server is saying, lol. Once your plates are brought to your table, let the food games commence! You're brought Brazilian cheese bread which is soooo good, warm & cheesy (but not too cheesy), fried sweet bananas, creamy mashed potatoes, and fried polenta! These appetizers are constantly replenished throughout your dinner! Now let's move on to the meats, pork, filet mignon, filet mignon wrapped in bacon, chicken wrapped in bacon, lamb chops, top sirloin, flank steak, swordfish, and salmon! I'm pretty sure I'm leaving out a bunch! Everything is cooked to perfection! Be sure to flip over your token to take a break from the constant flow of meats! If you just want to eat at the salad bar, you won't be disappointed! Seafood salad, asparagus, the corn mousse and goat cheese is a must try! Fresh mozzarella cheese, prosciutto, beef carpaccio, omg, the list goes on and on! We love Chima's! We are always treated nicely, we never, EVER leave hungry or disappointed! If you love rodizio, if you love delicious cooked to perfection meats, great cocktails, and yummy desserts, you'll thoroughly enjoy Chima! PS, there is valet right in front, or you can park on the street and pay at the street parking kiosk, or there is a parking garage close by!

Took a while for Anthony to come over to take our drink order. Drinks finally arrived, server took our food order. 2 out of the 3 of us received our food, 3rd person waited a long time for her food to arrive. Romaine lettuce on Caeser salads was wilted, chicken on Salad was dark meat !!! Who ever heard of not using chicken breast meat ?? One of us asked for NO CROUTONS on salad. Guess what ? Yup, croutons came on all the salads. Could’ve had better experience at McDonald’s 😢

Food was excellent. Our servers mike and Brian were excellent. Mike had us laughing quite a bit. The food servers came at us all at was, it had us laughing. A bit overwhelming but enjoyable. The only issue was we split our bill half cash have card. The card got swiped for the total amount, but they assured us it wouldnt be processed . my husband didn't like that! Other than that it was great.

Had an Awesome dining experience, took my Son who is in the Culinary Arts program at school and he Absolutely enjoyed himself. I would recommend trying it at least once, you'll be pleasantly Surprised

Food and service were excellent. Salad bar was one of the best we have ever been to. Lots of meat choices. We will be returning again.

Great dinner. Food was excellent and plentiful. Staff wonderful. Very attentive. But very pricey. $160 for two with each just getting one drink each and no dessert.

Atmosphere was top notch start to finish. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The salad bar was fresh, clean and delicious. The gauchos were timely with excellent cuts of meat cooked to our liking. The wait staff catered to everyone even when it got super busy. I would recommend this restaurant as well as revisit this establishment for a birthday, anniversary or just a friendly get together. It is pricey but you are in center city. Free valet was a nice touch too.

Had lunch with a friend here for Restaurant Week and had a very good meal. No unlimited meat available at lunch time, however the lunch special was quite enough. It included both soft drinks and unlimited salad bar which is very outstanding. Helped ourselves to a variety of items including the traditional black beans and rice.

This is a Mother's Day celebration for a group of 8. Chima is a Brazilian steakhouse rodizio style. The receptionists at the counter just stood there and didn't even acknowledge our presence. The ambiance was so-so. Food: Salad bar is ok, not what I expected for the money spent. There was only 1 kind of soup. There were 16 meat selections for dinner including salmon. Our waiter and the gauchos were attentive to our needs. Lamb chops were hard to come by. We were almost done with our meal when the lamb chops were offered. And I wasn't amiss in requesting for lamb chops from the time we sat down. Salmon was also offered almost at the end of our meal. Parking: Valet for $18.00 or validated self parking for $7.00. Tip: Don't fill up with the salad bar and wait for the best meats to come around. They offer the cheaper kinds of meat first.

the title may be a bit misleading as the salad bar is actually quite good, but trust me when I say you want as much room as possible to try all the different meat selections. The meat is cooked to perfection and no matter what you're a fan of (filet, salmon, lamb etc) they have it all. It is a little on the pricey side though, that's why the wife and I usually wait for Restaurant Week to make our reservations. But if you decide to go any other time, you won't be disappointed. I'm pretty sure the knife is just for show as the meat is usually so tender you can cut it by just looking at it. The desserts are pretty fantastic as well.

Last minute was able to get a reservation for 10 people. The food and service were both great and the experience was good., All of this comes at a price though, for the most expensive meal I have ever had.

I felt so guilty eating here. Everything is in excess--the salad bar and all the meat! It's all you can eat. The salad bar has very excellent, filling choices. This could be the kiss of death if you are there to try all the meats. Pace yourself! The salad bar comes with the meat and is about $60 pp. There is so much food you don't know where to look. If you see something on the menu that hasn't been by your table, ask for it, they are very accommodating here. The servers are very good, clearing different plates, so you can try new meats or salads on fresh plates. For the salad bar, we like the endive, rice and pasta salads. There is even soup and rolls and, raw meat and smoked salmon. If you think it-it is there! Enjoy!

Went to Chima for dinner to catch up with an old girlfriend. We opted for the buffet and just one choice of meat. They included grilled pineapple with cinnamon which was amazing. The bartender is quite generous with the liquor in the drinks, it was too strong for my taste, but if you are in to that this is the place for you.

This was a great place! The salad bar was amazing (definitely not your typical salad bar) with many interesting side dishes and the beef was delicious, especially the top sirloin and grilled pineapple. Be prepared to eat too much. Highly recommend!

Chicken ,steak, pork or lamb it doesn't matter what you love you'll get your full here. Love the bacon wrapped fillet mignon. You will always leave here with your fill of meats. All you can eat and whatever you can eat for $55 is reasonably priced if you eat your fill. Sides are just ok but the real draw is the selection of meats. The food and wait staff are also very friendly and accommodating. This is def worth a dinner time visit.

I ate a lunch here for a vendor presentation, so we were in a private room. Because it was a private event we were served a selection of meats they normally serve. The lunch started with a pre-made salad that had many items on it, including pepper, palm heart, tomato, fresh mozzarella and maybe 5 other items. It was very good and fresh. They brought various meats out during the lunch which included salmon, chicken, flank steak, sirloin and garlic sirloin. All were good, they offered what doneness you prefer but most meat was more rate than well done. They would have to leave to empty the blood that pooled on their serving plate from cutting the meat. They then brought around family style dessert of Cheesecake and a tiramisu type cake. The tiramisu type cake was moist and good. I would definitely come back here for lunch or dinner.

They don't have the variety at lunch time. You order a single meal. Very expensive for what you get. Perhaps the dinner is more worthwhile. Unless they open up the full churrasco service at lunch, I wont be going back on my dime.

I have done at Chimas MULTIPLE times great experience and a very nice service and great salad bar the 17 different meats are awesome

My wife and i were in philla, and we ate at Chima, the salad bar is great and fresh, many choices, Many selections of grilled meats, beef ribs a must try.ate way to much.they were not cheap with meat, very clean inside, service did a great job.we also ate last weekend at other Brazilian restaurant , meats had great flavor there compared to tonight. Parking hard to find.

Excellent Food and Service. More than enough to eat. Great Salad Bar. Limited parking. Not the best location.

Stopped in for a business meeting. Never experienced this style before. Pretty cool having about 16 variations of meats walked over to your table upon turning a card over signaling you are ready. That is after a quite extensive self service salad bar. Great time.

My wife is Brazilian, and we travel to Brazil often, so we know good Brazilain cuisine when we see it. We have been to both the Chima in Philadelphia, and the Chima in Fort Lauderdale, and we were pleased with both restaurants. There is an excellent salad bar, and the waiters are constantly visiting your table with a selection of freshly barbecued meats, and you get to choose where you want your portion sliced from. To get the full experience, you must go with an empty stomach, or you will be too full to try the next delicacies that they bring to your table. Reservations are recommended, for Chima is very popular.

We eat a Chima a few times a year for special occasions out in the city. Our last two visits (New Year's Eve and again in February) were, as usual, terrific. As noted by others, I would definitely suggest making a reservation. Service is always friendly, the food is hot and fresh and they are terrific about bringing around whatever you are requesting. The wine list is fantastic and on every visit the manager has stopped by our table to make sure everything was okay. General Manager, Marcos Zarza is great to talk to even though we never have a complaint. Always looking for a reason to go back.

I took my staff to Chima for a special lunch. The entire experience was disappointing. The line to the salad bar was very long and the selection was not great. The meat was overcooked and dry. The chicken was also overcooked. The waiter told us fries were included, only to be told later that they were not. Three of the 12 in my party were sick with diarrhea, indigestion and one had vomiting within an hour of leaving the restaurant. We will never return.

Chima is all about eating large quantities of meat. To be fair, there is a very nice salad bar. But the main attraction here is meat. For a flat rate--and it is quite hefty--the servers will just keep bringing all kinds of cuts of meat to your table. Some of these meats are standard fare and others are a little more interesting. But here's the thing: if you're going to spend that much, it would be nice to have a really amazing meat dish. The meats I were served were all adequate, but none of them had the wow factor that would make me say "that's the best steak I ever had" (or whatever). They were just okay. So the other reason to eat here would be to eat an enormous amount of meat (which was clearly the focus of some diners). However, that's not my idea of a great restaurant meal. Some will find this sort of thing entertaining; others should look elsewhere.

We tried Chima during Philadelphia's Restaurant Week. This was our first experience in a Brazilian Steakhouse, which is quite different from a typical restaurant. We would happily go back - the food and service were excellent! Only drawback was the noise - this is a large restaurant and it was filled for Restaurant Week. Our first course consisted of little meatballs and cheese breads (for lack of a better description). The second course was the salad bar, which is really way too limiting a description for the soups, breads, salads, grains, fishes, cheeses, etc. The selection was enormous, and we could have happily eaten just the salad bar and been quite filled. (You can get just the salad bar as an option, for approx. $30-35/person). When you are ready to move on to the meats, you signal the servers by turning your "chip" from red to green (green means serve, red means let us be alone - no service needed). The waiters roam the dining area with large skewers of a variety of meats and chicken; even fish with sauces (on a platter) was served. We were quite impressed at the level of service and the quality of everything we ate (and I don't write this lightly!). We would recommend Chima and would go back, but we would ask for a table in a quieter spot (if there is such a thing) or go earlier in the evening. And we would ask not to be seated at a banquette (the chairs were fine, but the seating against the wall was a bit low for my husband's taste, and he was not comfortable).

What can I say about Chima...Excellent , terrific , delicious these words do not justice....Chima is for sure my favorite steakhouse hands down.Quality service everything ..I was very pleased..They comp your valet If you stay and eat they have a bar which quite popular but is not in anyway a bother to those eating.$50 a person of course it is a buffet but very well worth it ...

All staff were very pleasant and attentive to your needs. Outstanding Customer service. Food was fantastic and I love that they also serve fish.

Our family went there for dinner. Valet parking was very convenient. Establishment is very nicely decorated. The appetizers were average. The salad bar was excellent. Lots of variety and healthy foods. If you eat too much of the salad bar you'll fill up and won't be able to try the meats. The salmon was excellent. We did not try the swordfish. The meat selection was excellent and delicious. We were able to sample all the different cuts of meat. We all loved the lamb chops. Due to the cost you may feel obligated to try all of the meat selections, as we did. We would return for a special occasion, though we all felt that it is just too much meat. If I went back I might just get the salad bar only option.

Three children and parents post-Nutcracker dining out tradition in PHL (New Year's Eve, last show). We were part of the first seating around 4:30 pm, a brief wait in their very small bar area, then we were led to our table. The format is very upscale buffet, with the meats brought serially to the tables, diners may opt in or out of any of the selections. In addition, there is a spectacular and quite delicious array of salads and sides, a soup, multiple cheeses, cold meats. The beef ribs were terrific, the filet and rib eye quite good, the pork and chicken were also quite good. The pork ribs were flavorful but tough (this should not happen in a restaurant), the lamb chops were unevenly cooked--my oldest daughter's portion was absolutely raw, the leg of lamb was similarly very rare. We all over-indulged, but bravely my youngest daughter got a slice of cheesecake for dessert--pretty ordinary/good, not outstanding. Waitstaff and the "gauchos" who bring the meats to the table and serve them were outstanding/polite/attentive. With drinks, that slice of cheesecake, and tip we were out the door for just a hair under $500. Probably won't return, there are better meals to be enjoyed for quite a bit less in PHL.

If you have ever been to a Brazilian steak house, you know to skip lunch (and probably breakfast) China does a nice job with a great salad bar and fresh meats. Be sure to get a reservation as this place fills up fast. China is a "newer" player to the scene and you can tell that they are trying to stand out based upon their great service and quality food.

Went here for Restaurant Week for $35 a person and it was amazing. Loved all of the food and the salad bar. I'm not sure I'd pay regular price though of $55 per person. I would definitely do this again for the price of Restaurant Week.

This is one of my favorite go to places and Brazilian steakhouses! The servers are all so friendly! The salad bar is delicious, always fresh and full. The meats are delicious too and well cooked. You have to try the pineapple that was my favorite!

This is an extremely attractive ( well, that is subject to taste ) appointed dining spot but the reason one goes here is to enjoy endless amounts of meat, all varieties of meats and more meat. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. I do not remember a menu, it is MEAT and more MEAT after all. The gauchos are constantly walking through the dining area looking at your marker as to MORE or NOT NOW. If your marker says more they come by, introduce what they have and you may select or decline that offer. Do not waist your appetite on the lesser grades, you know chicken and such, you can get that any where and for a lot less ALTHOUGH to be fair, you will not get it as good; save yourself for the prime cuts of the prime meats that you only get at a premium steak house. That is why you are here after all. For those that are not carnivores, they do have an huge and endless salad bar which is also up to your impeccable standards. Dessert, well, assuming there is room, is available and your choice of beverages / cocktails are to be had as well. ( Maybe this is where a menu came into existence ) I love it there, you have to roll me across the floor and out the door. My beautiful wife filled up on the salad bar and expressed great satisfaction with it. I sampled it but saved myself for the ( As Arby’s restaurant likes to say ) FOR THE MEATS. .

I usually go to Fogo de Chao but decided to test Chimas. There was not much variety of steak provided, and the waiter charged me for extra drinks when I already paid for it from happy hour before I sat down for reservations. Then when I advised the waiter he literally argued back stating the check was correct. Never going back…

I love Chima for the fresh salad bar and fish...it's quite an experience to watch the Gauchos, Brazilian cowboys, serve rodizio, skewers of meat, to guests. The selections of meat include beef, ribs, chicken, pork loin, lamb, and the fish- swordfish & salmon. The dining room is unlike any other restaurant....a large venue yet the space offers an intimate setting with privacy at your table and a view of all the action. Exceptionally personalized table service with a no rush feel. A memorable dining experience in Center City Philadelphia with convenient parking at 19th & JFK Blvd.

We ate at this restaurant on February 15, 2015. We had 4:15 reservations and were seated promptly at that time, even though there was a large crowd waiting to be seated. I was pleased that this was the case. There were many good choices of meats, including lamb, various kinds of steak, chicken, salmon, swordfish, pork ribs and sausage, all of which I dined on happily. The one problem that I had was that the well done steak was always a bit rare for my taste. However, there was more than enough meat to satisfy any carnivore. The sides were excellent, as was the salad bar. Neither my husband or I could get enough of the tasty mashed potatoes. Even though there was a big crowd, our end seats provided us a bit of privacy. The atmosphere was very nice and lively. Everyone is so attentive, and the service is excellent!! Note that this is not an inexpensive restaurant, as our meal for two was over $125.00.

I visited Brazil, I ate at Churrascaria in New York and Fogo de Chao in Philly and guess what, Chima came out best. never been there and my family member wanted a Brazilian Steakhouse again, so I chose Chima. Much to our amazement it was just terriffic. The ambience was good, the salad buffet good, the rolls and spread different and the meats out of this world. We like our beef and lamb rare (Pittsburgh style or on the huff, whatever) the rarer the better and it melted in your mouth. A good bottle of wine complimented our wonderful meal and then we tried their dessert - heavenly. We did not have one complaint - starting with the valet parking - great - the wait staff great and the gauchos also great. Nothing pleased them more than looking out for our preferences. We tried just about everything and had seconds when we favored something in particular. This place is a keeper for special occasions and we already picked my nephews birthday for our next visit.

Most people know this restaurant for the large amount of food that they are served. I can't eat that much food, but I love this restaurant for the happy hour in their bar section. Drinks are half price and there is also some very delicious appetizers and salads. It has a nice atmosphere. A great place to hang out.

This is a beautiful venue, but lost its enthusiasm. It is part of a chain of restaurants owned by a Brazilian family. The gouchoes are authentically dressed and service with a flare. I recommend that you take a sliver of everything. Just a bite mind. That includes the expansive salad bar. No body will tell you to take more than you can eat. And everything needs to be tasted. I just wished they had empanadas and Brazilian music. Save room for dessert. It was so good I didn't waste time taking a picture. I just ate it and wished America had siesta.

Went with friends to celebrate a birthday & we had a great experience. Arriving early for first seating @ 4pm, we were asked to briefly sit in the lounge near the bar which unfortunately wasn't open yet. A short time later we were seated & Madison, our server, greeted us & provided instructions since this was our first time there. The salad bar was amazing -- beautifully presented & with lots of options for everyone's taste. Then the parade of meats started & we were thrilled with the variety & definitely the flavors & various cuts of beef, dark meat chicken (just OK), pork & lamb. One of our party is allegic to the type of seeds in the kale salad, so given that info, Madison brought out an entire plate of kale sans the seeds! Very accommodating & eager to please, we had a wonderful time & the birthday girl was treated to tiramisu with a candle. One observation though, there was a person overseeing the salad bar who obviously took her job very seriously, ensuring the dishes were appropriately appealing, replenished, & serving utensils placed. However, she practically scowled at everyone, even mouthing "Wow" behind a patron who was returning & filling his plate. No one paying $84 per head shpuld feel criticized for eating to their content. A small but distracting element to an otherwise excellent night.

One of the best steakhouses I have ever been to. The salar bar for lunch is too damn fresh and awesome in taste, that I had to refill my plate. The sauces rich in flavor as well. Service was prompt. The steaks were perfectly cooked and delicious. Would definitely be back here. I had the lunch menu Steak Picanha with the Salad Bar for 17$. Very reasonable as well.

It is Valentine's Day at 3:56 p.m. I was just called 20 minutes ago by the Philadelphia location notifying me about my 4:45 p.m. reservation which I have made 2.5 weeks ago. I confirmed. And then the reservationist went on to tell me that it was mandatory that I pay 89.95 per meal which I was NEVER notified of. After 20 minutes of speaking with her and requesting to speak with a manager, who "couldn't come to the phone because they were on the floor", I was told that there was nothing they could do for me and I "should have known" that there was a special deal. I made this reservation through Open Table and there was NO SIGN of any special deal for Valentine's Day. Now, myself and my boyfriend, whose birthday we were also supposed to be celebrating have no where to go because their team couldn't do ANYTHING for us. This has been the most ridiculous restaurant experience I have ever dealt with. The reservationist was EXTREMELY COCKY and was yelling at me over the phone that there was no manager available. I am extremely disappointed with this establishment. I have heard such wonderful things about the food and now I will never get to experience because their Philadelphia team has made my stomach turn. This has been the most treacherous restaurant I have ever had to deal with. Restaurants are supposed to be built around customer service and we have received the poorest service ever!!! This staff AND RESERVATIONIST should be ashamed of themselves!!!!!

My office went to Chima for a holiday lunch yesterday and we all had a wonderful time. The salad bar is incredible, but you do have to be careful not to eat too much because of all of the various meats that will be served non stop. The wine was reasonably priced. from 1 to 3:30 the restaurant was quiet enough that we could have a great lunch for 10 people and could talk around the table comfortably. The service was great. The top sirloin was super. The flank steak was a little tough. The garlic infused steak was good - but too garlicy for my taste. The chicken was chicken. The creamed potatoes and fried bananas were excellent. The deserts were wonderful (try the coconut chocolate lava cake - yum). Total was about $26 per person before drinks, tax and tip.

You literally eat until you can eat anymore!!!! so amazing!!! everything meat! good salad bar too! Love it!

This was the first steak house I'd ever been to and the little breaded cheese balls they serve immediately had me hooked. I loved the charismatic waiter and their display for drinks made it easier to choose something I really liked. I did not want to flip over my card to say I was full but I had to! Sooo good. I only wish we could take the food out

Great food the passion fruit mousse for desert is excellent a little bit pricey but well worth it for a special occasion

My fiancé and I went to chima for restaurant week and it was fantastic. For $50.00 you get to try almost everything. Make sure to get a Mai Tai drink while you are visiting... They are delicious!

Went to this restaurant for a birthday celebration and the food was excellent. We had a reservation for 8 people during restaurant week and did not have to wait upon arrival. They also surprised us with cake for the birthday folks-very nice of them!

The Chima Steakhouse in Philadelphia has a modern look since the company just completed a major renovation of the interior. The bar area and the grill where the meats are cooked look amazing. The quality of CAB Top Sirloin was TOP Notch. You must visit to see the new look.

Full disclosure, I am not a big meat eater and this was a business meal so I did not have any say as to location. That said, it was a mediocre experience at best. The salmon was dry and the pork tenderloin and ribs I tried were also tough and dry. If you are looking for an all you can eat meat experience, I guess this is it, but if you are looking for quality, not so much. The salad bar was nice, but the service was slow when ordering dessert. I actually gave up 30 minutes after ordering the dessert and left so my co worker had it who waited the 45 minutes to get it.

A wonderful spot for couples, friends or families. Had a reservation for 7:15 with my hubby. Wanted an indulgent dinner during our trip. Picked the right place. We were greeted by friendly staff and promptly seated. For a Wednesday night the place was very busy. Our server explained the dining experience and took our drink order. Retuned with water, our delicious cocktails and cheese bread, polenta and fried plantains. There is a huge sales bar that offers many salads, vegetables, cured meats and cheeses, rice and beans, etc. The gauchos come around offering many meat options. I don’t visit salad bar, I love the meats. There are delicious pichana, filet, bacon wrapped filet, sirloin, beef ribs, chicken, Brazilian sausages, lamb chops, leg of lamb and salmon. All the ones I ate were wonderful. Our server was attentive and friendly. We were not hurried. A nice touch was the pineapple. A whole pineapple, season and grilled, sliced at the table. All in all a fun evening with my husband. Thanks to all the staff for making it another great memory of our Philadelphia visit.

Great service and attention but the best of the best is the quality of the products specifically their meats. Only pure pleasure of flavors

I have been to many Brazilian barbecues in Brazil and around the US. I would rate the food at a 5. I would rate the valet as a 3 and give the staff a 4 because they seemed overworked. The large salad bar has a great selection, there is something there for everyone's tastes. It is a large restaurant and can be a little noisy especially if you are by large parties. The meat selection is great. My husband has a dietary limitation right now and I was a little disappointed that I had to keep asking for the salmon to appear at our table. For Thanksgiving table with traditional fixings. One negative the valet they did not give me a ticket for my car and drove off with it great what proof if it was stolen! The restaurant has an extensive wine list. I think it is best to go with several people It is not a quiet or romantic restairant

Tina, the receptionist was rude. I called ahead to ask if we need to make a reservation, they told me no. When we first walk in, Tina asked if we have a reservation, we said no. She quickly answered “OH THEN WE DON’T HAVE A TABLE FOR YOU” and I told her I have called ahead and they told me I didn’t have to make a reservation, she said “ oh let me talk to my manager.” I totally get it, it’s a Sunday evening and there was an event going on. But the attitude was just nasty. Did complaint this to the manager on duty, he said “well you have a table now” he apologized and desserts were offered. Not too sure if this is the right Chima to go to.

I had been to Chima a few times when it first opened and was pleased with it, so when my friends suggested we get together for dinner, I was happy to suggest it. Our group of 10 loved Chima. We were seated as soon as all of our party arrived, and our drink orders were taken immediately. They explained how everything worked, and we headed to the enormous salad bar. There were different kinds of greens, vegetables, fresh & roasted, cheeses, cold meats, soups, bread and two kinds of rice. It was hard not to overload our plates with all of these delicacies, but we knew we had to leave room for the MEATS !!!! As soon as we turned our "Chips" over to Red, the meats started arriving. Chicken, beef and pork ribs, sausage, lamb, and many different cuts of beef. If there was something on the list that we hadn't seen yet, we asked, and they brought it right around. The only delay was when a few at our table requested "well-done" cuts of meat, which took just a little longer. The service was great, offering clean plates, refilling water glasses promptly, and asking if we needed drink refills. Everyone had a great time, and were raving about the food. The cost is a little high (around $75. per person including tip - no alcohol), so for me it will have to wait for another special occasion.

you think you are in Brazil at a real radizio but it is just 5 x the price. Quality of meat is excellent, staff great. Worth a special treat.

Chima has been a special occasion restaurant for our meat loving extended family for the past four years. First, the pros: outstanding salad bar (variety and quality), excellent lamb (both the rack of lamb and leg of lamb have deep, perfumed minty and earthy flavors), and their signature top sirloin is succulent and savory. Don’t miss the Brazilian pork sausage, an addictive explosion of flavor. There are a few misses, the salmon is overcooked, (although better with the passion fruit sauce), the mashed potatoes and fried polenta are rather bland, and avoid the bone dry chicken at all costs. Still, the hits far outweigh the misses in their enormous selection, and you will no doubt leave happy and hedonistic full.

We have dined at Chima frequently, and just returned from an evening there during restaurant week. Never again. Firstly, if you want the entire selection of meats, you must pay extra ($59 instead of the $35 restaurant week price). I think we may have seen 6 cuts of meat during our visit, instead of the 15 promised. The meat was sub par, definitely not as good as it once was - bland, tough and just all around not good. And, we were seated directly in front of the door to the kitchen where we listened to the staff yell "corner!" and "out!" as they went in and out of the kitchen the entire evening. The one bright spot was Tod our server. He was excellent. Other than that, there is no reason for us to return to Chima, and we will not. When we want our Brazilian steakhouse fix, we will be heading to Fogo from now on.

Food delicious. Service exceptional. Blows fogo away with food and service. Salad bar is better at fogo. Desserts are much better here. Constantly asking us if we needed anything. Reason I cannot give a 5 is the 15 minute wait for my car by valet.

There is nothing negative I can say about Chima. The service was commendable. The food was excellent. I tried stuff I don't usually eat, and I actually enjoyed it. They bring you so much meat, anyway you want it, and it just keeps coming. I am a big eater, and I had to unbuckle my belt to get more room for more food.

Last night we went to Chima for my husband's birthday dinner. The food was average. The beef was good, the pork was dry and salty, the seafood was dry and the side dishes were sparse. We were offered one serving of fried banana and one serving of something similar to a plantain. The service was extremely slow and the restaurant was so noisy it was impossible to have a conversation. For the cost go someplace nice. There is an abundance of better restaurants in Philly!

Service was top notch. Food was great! Even meats I don't usually like or eat were excellent. Salad bar was a feast in itself. Pricey but worth it for special occasion.

Really was not any different from fogo de chaó in the food selection, but the service is way different. I feel like we had to ask multiple time for one item before it got to us. They would come to the table next to us and our card would be green but they would not bother to come to the table. I prefer fogo 100%.

I went yesterday at lunch with my department of 9 people. The restaurant distance is convenient, because it is across the street from my office building. We had a reservation. We were greeted by the hostess and seated quickly at a big round table. The lunch experience is different than dinner. Do not expect tastings of unlimited grilled meats at lunch. There is a limited menu of salad bar and optional choice of add ons. You can have salad bar alone at $10.90, salad bar with chicken at $12, salad bar with steak at $15, and salad bar with salmon at $15. The waiter brings complimentary Parmesan cheese rolls with turkey spread. After you place your meat order it is cooked to order and brought to your table by a meat server. The salad bar is clean and vast with options. Soup, beans and rice, and fruit are also options at the salad bar besides traditional salad fixins. The restaurant was neither loud with conversations nor crowded. There were a few patrons dining solo. Perfect choice for a high powered business lunch or taking a break from touring the city/shopping. I got salad bar with steak. The steak was cooked perfectly and just the right amount of seasoning. This type of lunch experience is a treat for me, and I would go again for a special occasion, but I do enjoy the dinner experience a little more.

Chima shows you a "Great Time" from the bar at Happy Hour to having dinner in the main dining room. This review is based on several visits during happy hour and dining on two different occasions this past year, the most recent being this month. Let's start with "FREE VALET PARKING" - this is a great perk because the parking can be difficult some days. There was a group of (6) people and we all wanted to "opt" in for the salad bar and "unlimited meat selections" - really there are about (16 meat choices + Salmon). Let me say that we weren't disappointed by these choice options. Our servers were attentive and friendly and offered to cleared plates when they noticed that there may have been a "slow-down" or completion of the meat selections. My favorite was the lamb chops; Parmesan Pork Lion and the bacon wrapped chicken. Our table also enjoyed the "side dishes" offered-the creamy mashed potatoes; polenta, fried bananas and many more. Let's talk cocktails, decided on Watermelon Margarita; Mojito and finished the meal with a Malbec wine. Chima Steakhouse gives you the "FULL" Top Notch experience of good food, drinks and service! This is a place you have to give a shot!

OMG, Stuffed can only describe the feeling you walk out of Chima with. All the meats were exceptional, salad bar had a variety and was very nice, quick and attentive service, valet parking great It was my Birthday celebration but really had no room for cake. I give this restaurant 5 stars ALL AROUND

Great experience if you like the thought of unlimited meats of every variety. Standard steak, pork and chicken options, but also offered swordfish and shrimp which were my favorites.

We visited our son in Philly for Christmas and chose this restaurant after reading various reviews. My husband and son are both big meat eaters whereas I am not at all. The restaurant is fabulous, I can say that I have never seen so many variations of different salad dishes on the buffet table which were all delicious and so fresh. Having never been to a brazzilian steakhouse before we did not know what to expect but have to say the experience was great. I had chicken and salmon which were very good and my husband and son tried just about every meat on the menu and were both blown away by the quality and taste. The service, food and experience were just lovely and would highly highly recommend a visit. Some would say it is a little expensive but it was well worth it.

So much fun. Our first time doing Brazilian BBQ, I think next time I'll do less salads, but everything was so delicious it was hard to not try everything at least once. Service was great and you never waited to be served when you flipped your disk to red. Loved it, would go back again any time.

We chose Chima Steakhouse while on vacation because we love Texas de Brazil and wanted similar experience. We thought Chima was very comparable. Chima has more traditional Brazilian offerings on salad bar while Texas de Brazil seems more Americanized. Both are better than Fogo de Chao in our opinion. Chima is slightly more pricey, but we also felt the meats were slightly more delicious. We LOVED the option of grilled pineapple! The staff was friendly, service was great, and the buffet was kept clean and tidy. It was one of our highlight meals of vacation! (And for those who ask, the salad bar is buffet-style and the meat is all-you-can-eat. There is no option to take leftovers to go.)

My family and I ate at Chima in Philadelphia for my grandfathers 87th Birthday! We were a party of 10. When we arrived we had to wait about 10 minutes as they prepared the table ( we had booked this 5 weeks in advance). We were placed in the back room. Once all seated we waited and waited for a waiter to come over and offer water, dining instructions, the little Chima cards to let the waiters know we wanted meat. We had to ask for thatm, we had to chase down the waiters for wine. We helped ourselves to the salad bar, we had to chase down the waiters for ice tea and soda's. The waiters bringing the meats would start at one end of our large table and my husband the host of the event ( paying the bill) they would walk right by and not offer the meat selection. My mother only eats fish, we saw that waiter only once. My grandfather loves lamb. We had to chase down the waiter to ask for Lamb. My grandfather asked for horse radish, the waiter said, NO to his face. Yet the last visit they provided for him. The chicken maybe we saw twice and they skipped my husband again even as he yelled to them to come back. They ignored and went back to the front room. Waters never re- filled or ice tea or soda's. The disastor of the night continued as we had pre-ordered a birthday slice of cake for my grandfather with a candle. We waited and waited finally found a waiter and asked. At that same time, we heard 5 of the gaucho waiters singing to someone in the front room. Our waiter finally came by, dropped off the cake,,yes a candle in it, not ligthed and no singing,. We were all moritified! We chased down a waiter for coffee and for a dessert menu for the rest of the guests. This was an embarrasing night in every way. Here we have a grandfather who is 87 years old, the family came together for a big party, and the staff was rude to him and us! Now what made this even worse, the following day we called and spoke to a manager, she apologized and stated to make up for the disastor they would send a gift card to us! Of course- NO GIFT CARD EVER ARRIVED! I then wrote to the general manager, mailed a letter to him. NO RESPONSE. What a disgrace of a restaurant and management, We have now told countless people/ friends,. work,. DO NOT EVER GO TO CHIMA!! We did get the family togeher at a lovely restaurant in Cherry Hill and re did the bday dinner for him. A second huge expense but we could not allow CHIMA to ruin his bday!!! DO NOT GO TO THIS AWFUL ESTABLISHMENT.

Party of four! We took dad for Fathers Day. Service wasnt great and kept wandering around for beef or chicken. My stomach is achy right now. Two adults; two kids for $197.31. You decide....

Chima, is located Centre City Philadelphia is about a ten minute walk from City Hall. The venue's decor is contemporary, service is cordial, attentive, and fast paced, as expected in this carnivore's orgy. Wine selection is reasonable, the meat selection and variety was pretty standard, nothing exotic. Price was reasonable vis a vis Fogo de Chao. Bon appétit!

I love Chima. the meats are of great quality and the sides are amazing. One thing tht drives me here are their creamy mash potatoes which I always ask tht they bring at least two out at a time because they are amazing.

Everything was on point. The service the food the total dining experience was awesome. And the meat was seasoned to perfection.

I have been hearing about this type of dining for years, but never tried it. Beautiful resturant with great curbside Valet ($16). The salad bar is huge and everthing looks great, but everything didn't have much taste, sorta blah! Some of the meats were good, like the flank steak, special beef and sausage. Chicken was awful. Great Service, friendly peope. Deserts fair. Unbelievable wine list, but I don't know who buys them. I would never go back; just isn't worth it.

We ate here Aug 1st for a birthday dinner with my husband and I. Our favorite Brazilian steakhouse is Texas de Brazil so we compare other Brazilian steakhouses to TdB. Chima had a larger selection of meat including some fish selections. Salmon and swordfish were offered. The cuts of meat were less flavorful and more dry than TdB. The mashed potatoes were disgusting at Chima and resembled potato soup. The restaurant was very clean and the waitstaff was very friendly. You will not leave hungry. Overall very good food!
Slippery Slope
Our annual visit - the 6th- occurred Jan 2019. While our previous five have been nothing short of sensational, this one was noticeaby a step back. The quality of the meats seemed to dip a bit. But the most dramatic drop was the service. The table side service seemed to be the same few selections over and over, with the better cuts of meat disappearing for long stretches of time. Also, the servers seemed to have some attitude, not sure why. We did address these issues with the manager, who seemed very receptive. Must mention the happy Hour is a great deal. We shall see next year.
