best slice in the hood

By GregMasters |

Pizza here is very good. I usually get a plain slice, but there are a number of more robust options which feature fresh vegetables and meats. There's also a lineup of Italian specialties which look terrific – pastas, Parmesan Chicken – but scare me off as a lunch choice as too heavy. The counter guy needs to be told to modulate the volume of his voice. He'd be a star on the opera stage, but sitting at a table trying to relax with a slice, his resounding basso, while extraordinary, is a bit much.

Large portions!

I had the spaghetti carbonara and my friend finished it because it was so large! Our table also had the lasagna and a Caesar salad. All was excellent. A cute little restaurant with good service and tasty food.

Yum!

A night free in NY means a hunt for great pizza. This place is awesome. Over 6 different pizzas ready to go available or you can order your own pie & get it in 10 minutes flat. For a slice & a can of pop cost $6.00. Seriously a deal.

Great Choice!

We were looking for a place to sit and have lunch. Ciao Bella fit the bill perfectly. Customers were coming and going which told us it would be good, and it was. We were warmly greeted by Francesco, who turns out to be from Palermo, Sicily - another sign the food would be good. My husband had their lunch special of spaghetti with olive oil and garlic, breaded flounder, fresh garden salad, and Italian bread. I was cold and really wanted some soup to warm up. I made the right choice with the Tortellini in Brodo. It was hot and loaded with Cheese Tortellini in a delicate chicken broth. I was immediately transported back to Bologna, Italy where this soup hails from. It was a great stop for lunch. The portions are generous and the prices so reasonable for Manhattan.

Home style Italian

Fast service, cheap bottle of wine and non greasy but very tasty basic Italian fare ( I avoided the pizza though)

Visited here about 6 years ago, couldn't wait to visit again

With so many great places to get pizza in New York City, it's hard to say this is the best pizza in New York. But during a visit to the city about 6 years ago, we asked a random guy on the street where he'd recommend for pizza near mid-town and he recommended Bella Napoli on 7th Avenue. We loved the pizza. It's a very very casual small restaurant but the pizza was great... very thin crust. Now in 2016 we find ourselves looking for pizza again and we remembered this place. This time we branched out a bit and got Spinach Manicotti and a Bella Napoli Salad with lettuce, tomato, cucumbers, peppers, eggplant, sun-dried tomatoes, fresh mozzarella, & olives. The salad was quite large, easily split between two peoples. The manicotti was very good as well. I'll be sure to swing by here for a slice and maybe more next time I'm in the area.

Very good pizzas

By ElinG |

A tiny, local place. Only 6-7 tables. Many locals ordered take-away. We would not have thougt much about it hadn't we found it on tripadvisor. Bella Napoli looks like "nothing" from outside, but the the chance! Very good pizza, and good size. We ordered 2 small. That was 6 pieces pr pizza. Way too much for the 4 of us. One pizza can feed 3 "normal "adults. Would absolutely come here again.

Nothing fancy, Good food

Tony, son of the owner, made the experience worthwhile. Restaurant needs an update, but the waiter Tony was friendly and accomodating. Prices were very reasonable for NYC.

Excellent Italian style food

Are You interested in eating excellent Italian food, in a warm and attractive place? "Bella Napoli" is a typical Italian style restaurant, where the food is really Italian and the tastes make You remember the actual Italian Cousine. We recently had a lunch there: we just wanted to take away some food and keep walking in Manhattan, but the manager understood we were from Italy (Rome), just looking at us, and "pretended" to serve us on the table. We had lasagne and cannelloni and my children enjoyed meat and dessert (tiramisù). Just try, my personal advice! Paolo and Family

nice Italian pizza and hospitality

Small Restaurant......BIG on Flavor!

By LivinglifeinPA |

Several friends and I dined here a few days ago after coming into the city for a show's taping. I guess that it was obvious that we were tourists because a restaurant server came to our table as we were perusing our menus and offered help to us. He took us to their food area........explained all the lunch options, assisted us with making our decisions, and then served us too! Three of our party decided to go with the chicken or eggplant parmesan which was served with a fettuccini & broccoli rabe...a deal at $12 and they all devoured it. Too much food for me, so I decided to go with their lasagne........WONDERFUL!!!!!!! The great part of this restaurant is that staff members delivered our meals to our table after we ordered and then took our leftovers away too. Definitely a place where you feel like you are a valued patron! Our first time to this part of NYC, but when we return, we will most definitely re-visit this Italian delight.

Awesome food

Found this place on Yelp. Place is obviously known for their pizza but tried the pasta and garlic bread. It was really good food and the service was good. Price was really good. Will be back!

NYC treat

By hilohiomom |

My family ate at Bella Napoli on a recent trip to NYC. The pizza was fantastic. It's a grab a slice and go kind of place, but they do have some tables. We were able to get a table for 6 at 7:30 on a Wednesday night with no wait. Our waiter was actually Italian, which was cool. The pizza was just what we expected, very delicious. We had a large pizza, garlic bread, one extra slice, several sodas and about 7 beers for about $65 before tip. You can't beat that for a dinner in NYC!

Best pizza in NYC

By Stefano Grottoli |

The place is not the most beautiful one, but the pizza is one of the best pizzas I ever had in my life! The real NY pizza! Amazing! You should try it!

Great place

By Excursion204313 |

This restaurant was recommended by a hotel staff and it did not disappoint. The food and the service were incredible. The portions were huge and very filing. I prefer to support the "little guy" over the chains any day and this met all expectations.

Excellent Pizza!

By boymomdfw |

This is a casual pizza/Italian place. We were walking by and stopped in. I got the pepperoni roll and a spinach mushroom roll. My hubby got pepperoni and sausage puzza. All were delicious! I noticed they have pasta and other dishes too but we just did the pizza by the slice. Quick and yummy.

Really good!

By Doc-US-08 |

From the street it looks like many other "pizza" places. And I am guessing the pizza is great. We decided to sit down for two pasta dishes, both of which were terrific. And for goodness sake ---TRY THE SPAGHETTI. My wife, a world renown spaghetti expert, says it is the best she has ever had. I agree.

Good NY Pizza experience

By Matt S |

We definitely had to stop and get some pizza for lunch while exploring the area! We ordered a couple of slices at this very much NY pizza parlor. The slices were wormed in the ovens. The staff, while busy, were very friendly and jovial. And the pizza was good...the pepperoni pizza, in particular, was very good! We needed a NYC pizza fix...and Ciao Bella delivered!

Good quick and delicious

Pizza Delizioso

By ArtsyGalBaltimore |

On the way to the FIT museum grabbed a lunch at this local gem. Seating is spartan and pizza served on paper plates, but "OH" what a treat! I mean real bianca with garlic and generous sausage slices. The owner is spirited with a sense of pride as he should have and deserves for his pizza. The thin crust was perfect. Highly recommend.

Best Italian ever

By Smeedog |

Loved this restaurant, beautiful atmosphere not too noisy, great service and food, lovely people. Best garlic bread ever! Family business established for over 20 years so know their stuff.

Delicious pasta

By Carlos S |

A great option to have some delicious pasta at a affordable price. It only cost me $7.50 for a good portion of pasta. Needless to say, it was very tasty.

Desperation visit, but loved it!

By mchelle77 |

I traveled to NYC from Boston via train, and hadn't eaten all day. It was closing in on 4pm and knew I had a lot of walking to do, so needed to eat something asap. My hotel was in Chelsea, about 2 blocks south of Penn Station, and this restaurant was on my walking path. The outdoor seating was a draw, as was the ability to just grab a quick slice. The pizza was really tasty, and the bill was ridiculously affordable - a good-sized slice and a limonata Pellagrino came to a whopping $6. My only issue was not knowing what I was doing upon arrival. There was a woman coming in and out that I mistook for waitstaff (she was actually with the couple at one of the tables) and when I wandered in (which, in these times, I tend to avoid doing to abide by some restaurant rules) I kind of stood there for a minute without being acknowledged. There was a staff person dealing with the table holding condiments at the door who looked at me, then away. So I took that to mean I was on my own, then ordered with the man behind the counter. That tiny hiccup aside, it was a great experience.

delish!

Some friends and I went to Bella Napoli last night and it exceeded our expectations, from food to service! Everyone that works there is extremely nice, the chef thanked us and invited us back after our meal. Our server was very friendly. Even when one of us accidentally ordered the wrong main course, he was nice about the whole mix up and brought us the right thing quickly! There's not a huge selection of wine but they have something for everyone, even a Montepulciano - my fav. The beer selection is good and the menu has plenty of choices. The capellini marinara was delicious with lots of tomatoes and garlic and a generous portion. The pastas were cooked perfectly. The decor itself really isn't romantic or trendy, maybe not a place to take a first date, but for a married couple and friends, it's perfect, laid back and no fuss. Another major plus is that they were willing to serve us around 10p, which in the Murray Hill area, it can be hard to find somewhere decent to eat late night. We'll definitely be back and we highly recommend!

Copious Good Food for a Reasonable Price

By Ron R |

Had an early dinner for six people at the Seventh Street location. We ordered salads and entrees. The service was excellent. Our entrees were varied including a personal sized NY style pizza. Everything was tasty and quantity was a bit overwhelming. The non pizza entrees all came with a separate large dish of pasta. We could probably have ordered half the number of entrees, shared and gone home full. :-)

Great place, great pizza

By Tony R |

Not large but comfortable and popular. Friendly family atmosphere and very good pizzas which are larger than you think. Good place for an informal meal (and thanks for the complimentary spicy sausage!).

Money waste

Don't expect anything fancy here. Basic Italian food. I wasn't impressed with it at all. Tea tasted terrible. Service was good - waiter was courteous and fast.

pizza!

Quick but fresh New York pizza, whole or by the slide. Counter service. Great for quick stop on a busy day in NYC.

Lovely

By Grace P |

Have eaten here on previous visits. It has a lovely atmosphere, very friendly staff, great food and great service. A bottle of wine was at a very reasonable price, this is New York after all. We had a lovely meal here and will definitely eat here again on our next trip to NYC.

Best Italian Restaurant in New York

By Karin Z |

Real Italian Restaurant by Italian family owned. Absolutely friendly and good service. I had several pizzas to go and we also eat in a couple of times. - pizza and pasta. Delicoius. Best pizza we had in USA - real Italian one. Crispy. My husband and I shared a small pizza - we can't eat it all. My daughter eats vegetarian pasta menue, also very nice. Espresso? - Here you get an Italian one for a cheap price like all others - beer, softdrinks, meals. We've eat here every day when we've been to New York. Gracie per tutti. Fino alla prossima volta!

New York Pizza!!

By 328tannak |

My first taste of REAL New York Pizza! Pepperoni, extra sauce, and love! The fragrance of that pizza was nearly as awesome as the taste! In fact, all the food looked delicious. Wish we'd had more time in NYC.

Cute, friendly, and amazing!

By kdot82 |

We came upon this cute little place on the first night my boyfriend and I came to NYC. We wanted something simple and non-pretentious. This place was just what were looking for. I ordered the spaghetti matriciani and my boyfriend ordered the gnocci with basil pesto. The pesto was clearly fresh made and the pasta was cooked to perfection. The server was friendly and service was fast. If you're looking for something nice, quick and not too fancy, this is the place for you.

Homey, casual restaurant with great, friendly service and excellent food.

The pizza is thin, crispy and delicious! Taste is miles above any chain restaurant and the personal service is exceptional.

Home Style Italian

Really surprised to stumble into this place. We were looking for some good Italian and this place delivers. Food was well cooked and tasted exactly like I had as a kid. Service was friendly and they really made you feel like family. Nothing fancy about this place but the food was over the top.

Ciao Bella ticks every box. Great food, lovely staff, good atmosphere and location. Food, beer and wine all very well priced. We had a good range of food and everything was great. Cheapest and best meal we had in New York. Special mention for the cannoli which were delicious.

Mother Daughter visit after Museum at Fashion Institute of Technology

By Julie W |

We were hungry after visiting the Museum at FIT. Checked out TripAdvisor to see what was nearby. Bella Napoli has great reviews so we thought we would give it a try. Very friendly, welcomed warmly ordered pizza off the line, tables were available. My daughter had pepperoni which she said was GREAT and I had eggplant Parmesan which was also fantastic. Great for a quick slice of pizza with seating! I was particularly glad for the friendly welcome! We will remember this for next time!

The Real Deal NY Pizza

By borninthebronx54 |

My wife and I recently visited our daughter in NY and she insisted she take us for a slice at Bella Napoli. She discovered this place when she started her new job located less than a block away from her office. So when we arrived in Manhattan we met her there. This is one of those "The Best NY Pizza" places. Absolutely perfect! Next visit to NY we will be back for a slice! One minor point, I have no idea why they named it Bella Napoli, Pizza in Napoli (the birthplace of Pizza) is nothing like this. Actually this would be an insult to Napoli Style Pizza. Now don't get me wrong, I was born in the Bronx and raised in Queens and have eaten NY Pizza from every Borough and love it but if you ever have the chance to have Pizza in Naples you'll understand the HUGE difference! Quick affordable great tasting Italian food.

Loved their pizza. Other food is also delicious. House wine can be avoided. Lively small place with people coming in. Few High tables with stools. One nice window corner. Smiling service. Quick affordable great tasting Italian food.

Great food, home like

By damico27 |

My wife, our son, and I paid a visit to Bella Napoli on a Saturday night. We were greeted by a nice Italian young man who was eager to serve us. Little did we know that he was both the server and the cook! I had the lasagna, my wife had the chicken parm and our son the ravioli. The food was was not already cooked, then microwaved. He made it from scratch. All the dishes came fresh and hot and the portions were generous. When we were asked about dessert, we were to full to indulge. That didn't stop our server from bringing us 3 mini cannolis on the house. How are you going to beat that! Needless to say, we will return on our next visit to NYC.

Great Pizza

By Catiria |

I have to say that the Pizza was awesome and the garlic breads were really good as well. The Pizza was hot and it was thin just the way it's supposed to be. I would definitely go back for more!!! Plus it's clean and the people are friendly.
