I work in San Diego. This us a locals place. I have always had great service and huge sandwiches. They are busy during the lunch crowd. But I have had their breakfast. Never a line! Always made fresh. Not too pricey. This market and deli have a good thing going.

If you're in the Gaslamp district and looking for a place to get a nice bottle of IPA or similar, don't try the Cine Cafe. Six packs only, and no single bottles permitted. Otherwise, the place looks like a fairly average bodega.

Was staying at the Hilton nearby. Breakfast burrito was enormous and super tasty. It normally comes with bacon and sausage and ham, but I asked for bacon only, extra crispy. Was chock full of extra crispy bacon. It was served with Pace picante sauce which was a little disappointing, but the burrito didn't really need it.

We stopped off here to get sandwiches for a picnic on Conorado beach. They had sandwiches ready made and also they make sandwiches on request. We had the tuna salad, the ham salad and 2 bespoke. Fantastic service and simply amazing sandwiches; the fillings are generous and the bread is so good (full range of rye, marble, sourdough, French, bagels .....) I highly recommend this place- it’s doesn’t look much but it does fabulous sandwiches!

If your staying in the Gaslamp in San Diego and you want a quick breakfast sandwich or something for lunch this is the place for you. Just two block from the convention center and the prices for the sandwiches are reasonable. They also have ready made salads, yogurt treats (ie granola, fresh fruit etc) and desserts. Many beverages to choose from and coffee. I work close by and sometimes come here for a quick sandwich. So give it a try and avoid the high hotel prices for breakfast or lunch. They also have outdoor seating and just across the street is a really nice park you can enjoy your meal.

These are the most wonderful sandwiches in all of downtown San Diego for the price… There are tables you can eat at and there’s no better value in town. The coffee is fabulous. The breakfast equally wonderful.

The price is right, the food is tasty and adequate portion sizes for a hungry man. Much more affordable than other places in the gaslamp for lunch.

Breakfast burrito is over the top delicious-big portion and home made. Friendly and fun staff running the deli counter. Didn’t get to try a sandwich but will go back. It’s a hidden gem among overpriced surrounding food stops.

OMG! I had a melted cheese turkey wrap (with crispy bacon) and it was delicious! The best I have ever had. Loved it. Well priced and fab food. Highly recommended ready made and made to order sandwiches.

I stopped in for breakfast. Small deli and convience store with great sandwichs. Definetly worth stopping in.

This tiny convenience store just across the street from the San Diego Hilton Gas Lamp hotel has every brand you can imagine for drinks, both alcoholic and non. Huge, fresh, tasty sandwiches, salads and fresh fruit too.

We have been coming to this deli/liquor store every time we are in town for Comic Con. This year will be the last for my group. The guy that took our sandwich order was either overworked, or just lost his mind. I must have repeated my order at least three times, I saw him write it down, and the sandwich maker still messed it up - cheese sandwich on sourdough, with mayo and mustard and peppercinis, he kept writing "grilled cheese", I had to keep repeating to "please, do not grill it", what I got was a dry pile of cheese slices on sourdough bread. They use to have a Big Cheese sandwich, but they took it off the menu, and I asked if it was possible to get it. You have to pay for your sandwich first, like we always do, so I went to grab a drink before heading to the cashier. As I am walking by, he hands me my sandwich and I wait my turn to pay. A few minutes later, he is hounding me for a ticket that he states he taped onto the bag and is freaking out. I have never seen this guy before, he probably owns the place so he can be mean to everyone in there. The cashier doesn't even like him, and profusely apologized. The sandwich maker behind the deli counter had an attitude, as well, as if I ordered some freakish, gluten free, dairy free, vegan monstrosity. They did not have a non-meat option, or tuna sandwich, available. And, it's not like it was right before closing, it was 5:30pm on a Friday, there were maybe 7 customers in the shop. This place has been a tradition for us during Comic Con, getting a deli sandwich while waiting to get wristbands for Hall H. Next year, we'll just walk a little further and grab a few slices at the pizza joint on the right side of the Gaslamp.

Convenience store

I stumbled out of my hotel, deciding not to pay $15 for a plate of eggs and took a random chance on this little market on K street, between 4th and 5th. Big variety of chips, beer and soda and a small grill area. Egg and cheese croissant with bacon or sausage, $4.50. Sign me up... This is no McMuffin! A large flakey croissant, toasted with at least 3 eggs, cheese and there must have been 4 or 5 pieces of crunchy bacon! So big I could barely finish it. Can't swear by the rest of the menu, but I had the same thing the next morning and it was just as good. 4 small tables arranged off to one side, this is mostly a quick stop. Muffins, fruit and full compliment of snack and lunch menu items. This is a nice place in a pinch to get some relief from the Gas Lamp district prices.

It's not much of a cafe, a large store with some tables, but it did not disappoint. I went in to get two sandwiches and also ordered a salad, unfortunately they gave me a Chef's salad instead of a Cobb salad, but it was so fresh and green I really did not mind. The bread was so fresh on the sandwiches. Will go back again when I am in San Diego.

Get the round torta bread for a sandwich recommend either turkey club with avocado or cheese steak

A great alternative to Convention Center food. They have great deli sandwiches and breakfast...

This place is great. Located directly across the street from the Hilton Gaslamp hotel and only a few minute walk from the convention center. They have everything you would expect in a convenience store but they also have pre made sandwiches and a deli that makes a number of different sandwiches from breakfast burritos to meatball subs. I was at Comic Con this year and that convention is CRAZY! I would come over here for lunch everyday. Never super crowded and the food and service are good.

Ok, trust me a little here. I was leery as well. Husband actually was at a conference for the week and the kids and I were along to play in San Diego. This little dumpy looking convenience store is located right across the street from the San Diego Hilton Gaslamp location. We went in there to buy some bottled water when we first got to the hotel. Very unimpressive place. BUT, hubby went there for lunch one day while he was on a tight schedule. Said it was the best reuben he has had in a while. They have a deli counter in there that is awesome! We got bacon, egg, and cheese croissants one morning for breakfast. They were loaded with bacon and the croissant was fresh. It was really surprising! Once you see the location, you will understand why I was surprised! It's like a corner convenience store up north, crammed into a little space, but with this crazy good deli inside! Seriously, it is reasonably priced and I can't rave enough about this little find!

This is my husband's go to place for inexpensive lunches in San Diego. Only steps from the Convention Center, they have huge sandwiches ($7.50 & $8.50), a large assortment of fresh salads, chips, drinks and alcohol. They have a menu board but will also make custom orders. We have four more days here and I can't wait to try one of their breakfast sandwiches. The only reason I gave four stars for service is they only had two people working - one preparing food and one cashiering at noon on a Saturday.

I don't usually get all that excited about sandwiches, but I needed something quick and close to the Convention Center. Reviews were pretty good so I headed over. It's nothing much to look at, not a "cute" little cafe. It's a small store with a deli/sandwich area where you can order sandwiches or grab something already pre-made from the cooler in front of the deli area. When I think of wrapped up pre-made sandwiches, I think of something I'd get at a gas station, or an airport (which would be a little better). So I was going to order a sandwich but there were a few out for sale and they looked so good - obviously fresh, made with great breads - and I was in a hurry, so I grabbed a roast beef sandwich on some kind of dark rye bread. They are solid, large sandwiches, nothing like your gas station model. And it was great. I hate even remotely stale bread and this bread was very fresh and very tasty. The whole sandwich was so good that I plan to go back at least once before I leave town (here for a conference). BTW, the sandwiches are priced very reasonably, especially considering the location in the midst of tourist/conference traffic. I think most of the sandwiches are $6.99. Big thumbs up on this one.

Cine Cafe is a great place for sandwiches to go. The sandwiches are large, perhaps even enough for two, and the prices are reasonable. They are made to order (although they do have some pre-made if you're in a rush). There's no reason to go to one of those chain shops when there's a place like this in town.

This is a very convenient local store, with reasonable prices and friendly staff. I purchased soft drinks, water and snacks.

We stayed at the Hilton across the street and these people had everything! The food looked great but it had everything from sunglasses to sandwiches! Nice that it was so centrally located. It seemed like it was family owned so very personalized service. IF youre staying or visiting in the Gaslamp District this is the place to go for all of your sundries for sure!

This place is a convenient/ liquor store but has a sandwich counter with a few tables. Definitely a locals place. I was told their sandwiches were incredible and I have to agree. I had a BLT on toasted sourdough. Probably the best BLT I’ve ever had. Tons of crisp stacked bacon for 8 bucks! Now to try one of their wraps!

We stumbled across this little deli/convenience store/liquor store. The pre-made sandwiches were freshly made that day, and use quality ingredients, and are quite a bit of food and a good deal pricewise. We liked it enough for lunch that we came back to pick up something for dinner... got a toasted BLT... wow, best BLT I've ever had!

Excellent custom sandwich shop. Great food at a decent price. Cook staff very nice. Very convenient to convention center.

Good food and service. The appearance of the place wasn't the best, but food and price are very good. We also got fruit and snacks for later.

Best sandwiches in town, at the most reasonable prices. Cine Café is my go to place for lunch on the run most days in San Diego.

Only used the Market, which has ok prices and selection of items.

This is literally your last stop before leaving the Gaslamp going south toward the convention center, or your closest place to the convention center for a really good sandwich. Don't let the looks fool you. This is a full kitchen with super big fresh sandwiches nestled inside this bodega style market. It's a convenience store, and much more!

Read the reviews on this place so decided to give it a shot. Was NOT disappointed!!! We are staying at the Hilton and didn't want to spend fortune for breakfast. Huge sandwich for $4.50. Don't let the convenience store look fool you.

if you dont want to fork out 40-50$ for breakfast or lunch this is the place we had breakfast here every morning a breakfast bagel and fruit and yoghurt for 7$ coffe wasnt up to much but there is starbucks near by they have tables would definitely recomend here its on 4th Avenue and k ST you can also buy beer wine and liquor here from the store to go drink prices in bars in san Diego are expensive

This establishment was near my conference hotel. Wanted something quick for breakfast and a coffee. Ordered the Veggie Bagel with everything! Wow! It was fantastic! Lush, fresh vegetables and cream cheese on a fresh bagel - so tasty!! I will be back for lunch!

Great market located near our hotel. Stopped there frequently while visiting for water, snacks, and liquor. It was the closest place to buy liquor near our hotel.

Amazing sandwiches at bargain prices. All freshly made to order, with quality ingredients. There are a few communal tables if you want to eat in. Also, they offer all sorts of beverages, including alcoholic ones. Note that this is a super convenience store, not a regular restaurant. They also serve breakfast. Very popular place!

We couldn't believe our luck in finding this place, thanks Tripadvisor fellows. Truly are the best sandwiches I've ever had a reasonably priced for the heaps of fillings. Don't be put off by the outside this is a great little place.

They make the best sandwiches in the gaslamp. They will toast them if you want, they pile on the bacon if you ask, you definitely don't get cheated here. Live right upstairs and have been ordering sandwiches here for 3 years! They also have just about everything else you need short notice from beer, wine, chips, ice cream, liquor, 5 hour energy shots...you name they have it.

We picked up lunch there before we went on a sailing tour of the Bay, awesome wraps and sandwiches. Sandwich lady is a treat. We also picked up lunch before we got on the train to go home, it was great, again.

This store is across from the hotel where I stayed. Great place to pick up things...snacks etc. Great , huge breakfast sandwhich.

I've been working in downtown Sam Diego for over eleven years and Cine Cafe has been my go to sandwich place all this time. I can with certainty assure you that you will not find a bigger and better sandwich in all of downtown San Diego and at a fair price. I've had several varieties of sandwiches from here and though all are very good, my personal picks are the Turkey Club. The Veggie, and the Rueben. Cine is not just about sandwiches no.., they have a huge selection of beverages (both alcoholic and not) and a wealth of snack foods and other practical needs for visitors staying in The Gaslamp Quarter. If you are in town for a conference or just staying in downtown San Diego, be sure to try a Cine sandwich at least once before you leave.

Quick in-and-out deli-style lunch place. Few tables outside to sit at and a park right across the street. AWESOME chicken salad!
The New York
I was looking for a lunch close to the San Diego Conference Center and came across the gem! It's a deli/convenience store. I had the New York and it was amazing!
