After a performance a whole bunch of our cast ended up here and we ate delicious food, drank, and spent the best part of an afternoon there. It was so good. Great food, great service, great atmosphere.

Excwllet brunch options. Juice, benny, pancakes, are all fantastic. Waitress was very friendly. Could use better chairs

Very unusual menu, healthy, fresh, and a neat experience. Coffee was not bottomless otherwise a great experience for breakfast. Whatever you order? Get an egg tossed on it! Definitely a repeatable experience

This is a great option for breakfast. They offer some healthy food options which I loved. I also loved their “wellness lattes”, i tried the golden latte, if you are adventurous with your drinks i would highly recommend it.

We have dined here before; probably 6 times, food was always great, service always problematic. This is another case of “not an adult in sight”, children with no knowledge of service passing out food. Taking note of my rough drawing we were escorted to a far corner table, single dot table, in an otherwise empty restaurant. (We arrived at 9:30ish for breakfast.) We then moved ourselves to the double dot table. We were told to move back to our original table with no explanation. Was our second table cleaned already and therefore not to be used? There is NO valid reason for such behavior; we walked out with me telling them how stupid there decision was.

Cool place, relaxing decor and yummy healthy food. The peach and coconut smoothie bowl was good but a small portion, i wouldnt recommend having that just on its own. Crab toasts were very nice. Great service. Highly recommend the place.

Gorgeous clean restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. Had the classic breakfast and avocado on toast after our lovely server Cheri recommended us some items off the menu. Nice vibe and nice staff. Will be back again in the future.

Sunday morning, you wake up late, you feel lazy and you want to have a nice tasty breakfast in a cute cafe? CoC is the place to go. Food is great and the atmosphere is so NY.. and a bit Aussie too.. Staff in nice as well.

Best brunch in NYC! Before getting in, we saw there was a looong line outside the restaurant, and we concluded that was a good sign. Definately worth it! Gluten free options were very tasty and everything was so freshly and perfectly made. The place was very cozy and welcoming. 10/10! :)

It was recommended to me to try this place by several people. The atmosphere in the restaurant is buzzing and the decor is beautiful. The menu had so many great choices that it was hard to chose just one thing. The only disappointing thing was that all the sweeter type brunch items contained peanut butter and the one person in our party who wanted something sweet, was allergic to peanut butter. The restaurant labels itself as Australian but it was a bit hard to tell from looking at the menu what exactly classifies their food as Australian. In the end I tried the shakshuka and it was good but I was a bit thrown off by how much it tasted like a bowl of chilli, minus the beans. I wouldn’t order that again. The service was good. OVERALL, I wouldn’t say that I loved my experience there but I would definitely go back and give other menu items a try.

Great coffee, lots of delicious breakfast options. We enjoyed the breakfast sandwich and waffles! Highly recommended the sandwich!

The duck benny was delicious, but the accompanying cucumber salad was a little weird for first thing in the morning. Highly recommend their cold brew. We left stuffed!

Went here for a quick lunch. It's a cross between a diner and restaurant. The food was well made and served very quickly. The menu has a good variety - both for vegetarians and meat lovers. The best thing I liked about the place was the portion size - just right - unlike a lot of American diners. The seating is a bit of a hassle and we had to wait quite a bit to find seats. Worth visiting at least once.

Cozy atmosphere, friendly and quick service. Large, appealing selection and super tasty dishes and drinks!

Decided to try this restaurant in the Chelsea location on New Years Day for a few quick brunch with my friend. Portion size was small but fitting for the price. The food was high quality and fresh. Good mix of options for all diets and allergies. No wait for the food and friendly waiting staff. The space is a little small especially in the winter where you cannot use the outside space, but was still able to fit my travel bag next to me. The space was very.

Super yummy breakfast spot. Nice and cozy restaurant/diner. This is my second time here and deserves a review! Food is great, served hot and quickly. We had the blueberry maple pancakes … delish! The manager Ben was so friendly and nice. He checked on us while we were dining and we had a nice chat with him. All the staff was friendly too. Be sure to check them out!

Just had breakfast here with my son on our first morning in NY. The reviews I read do not do this place justice. The food was insanely good, the coffee delicious and the service speedy and friendly. The avocado and crab salad on sourdough was one of the best breakfast dishes I can remember. My son’s Belgian waffle was so good he begged for another one. If you are in the area, you should try this place, it won’t disappoint.

It’s no wonder this coffee shop has more than 420 reviews on Yelp! Our faves: Cucumber mint lemonade Chai Cappuccino Barbie bowl

Not sure how this place had never hit our radar but it looked good as we were searching for brunch in the area. They don’t take reservations so we had a bit of a wait. Their pastries looked good. I had the salmon eggs over a biscuit which was good and I enjoyed the biscuit. It’s a nice place with a friendly staff. A bit packed for brunch though.

We had 4 recommendations from friends for our trip and Citizens came out on top. Gorgeous avocado toast and the pulled pork eggs benny was so different and himself is still talking about it. Coffee was good , decor is a bit alt and refreshing. Service was prompt and so clearly owner managed ! Highly recommend !

Excellent brunch spot in Chelsea! Great waiters, chill vibes, cute interior, and everything we tried was absolutely delicious!

Popped in to share the Aussie love, won't be doing that again. Expected a bit of a friendly 'Aussie' feel, but that was severely lacking, as was the service. We were seated at a bench next to another woman - they tried to give my meal to the lady next to me, and they forgot my husband's coffee altogether. Quite expensive too for what it is.

Great spot with great staff and a delicious breakfast menu... and as an Australian struggling with most of the coffee's I was experiencing in NYC, these guys do great coffee!! Found it by way of recommendation from the Chelsea Hotel. Loved the outdoor seating option. So glad I went there.. a couple of times :)

Delicious breakfast. We enjoyed the sandwich, complete with perfectly ripe and flavoursome avocado. The cheese ‘biscuit’ it comes on is more like a very light scone, served with a slightly spicy tomato relish/chutney. A great way to start the day and set us up for walking the High Line. A great Flat White too. Service was friendly and speedy.

Easy and light lunch! Inside decor is done really well. Loved my salad with scrambled eggs. Dressing could have been a little more flavorful. Overall great lunch place and quick!

This is a great place to have breakfast, you can get both classic American pancakes and healthy options as well. The drip coffee is also great.

Staying in Chelsea for a concert at the Gardens, we were pleasantly surprised to find a whole host of great looking independent places to eat and drink. For breakfast on our last day, we chose to stop at the airy and friendly Citizens of Chelsea. We had great coffee & drinks (fresh juices) and the food was great - cheese biscuits (homemade) with scrambled egg, thick bacon, spinach and tomato chutney (also homemade). My wife had the homemade granola with yoghurt and sourdough toast. The service was excellent and friendly - a great find.

Excellent meal all around. Really enjoyed the restaurant, service and meal. Would return again for sure! Must eat if close by.

Great Welcoming , thanks Gozde. Best brunch food, comfortable with friends or family. We could not stop eating . Excellent service by Nora. We loved it worth the wait.

Had breakfast here on our first morning in NYC. Really loved the pancakes and the hugely friendly service. Great location and good value for money considering location

Classic bistro-type place, simple, easy and trendy in New York. Classically arranged on the corner of a building, with the equally typical and very narrow outdoor area surrounding it. Inside furnished with fake but successful simplicity: very easy and very pleasant, as is the service. The preparations are excellent, in particular the Eggs Benedectine and the blueberry pancakes. The coffee is also good, the Mimosa a little less so. In summary, an extremely pleasant brunch, at a relatively low price by city standards. Well done!

Great atmosphere, amazing food and coffee served my way. Would definitely recommend anyone to kick off their day with breakfast at Citizens of Chelsea.

I used to love coming to this restaurant, it was a popular meet up spot for my friends and I. But I will NOT be returning due to my last horrendous visit. After receiving mediocre service (the waiter made some unwanted comments about the length of a FaceTime call I was on, kept eavesdropping on my conversation with my friend) I left a tip of $2.50 on a $30 order. Although low, I felt it was appropriate based on my experience. I rushed to my Uber but forgot my iPad at my table. I ran back in a few minutes later, realizing my mistake. My iPad was gone and the women eating nearby told me that a waiter had taken it and put it behind the counter. I approached the waiter behind the counter, enquiring about my iPad and giving a description of what it looked like (note that he wasn’t the waiter who had served me). He bent to look under the counter but instead of giving me an answer as to if they had my iPad or not, he told me to wait a moment. He walked over to the other side of the restaurant and began to talk to the waiter who had served me. They talked to each other for a minute while looking at me, I noticed that the waiter who served me had a smirk on his face. He approached me in a nonchalant manner and instead of discussing my iPad, he had asked me if I enjoyed my service. I replied yes, wondering where this was going, and he continued the conversation by saying that I had left an unusually low tip. I was baffled as to why the conversation had gone from my iPad with one waiter to my tip with another waiter. This waiter made it clear that he was not going to discuss my iPad without me changing the tip. I felt that I had no choice and changed my tip amount. The waiter proceeded to go underneath the counter (where the first waiter had looked originally) and pulled up my iPad. I have never felt so trapped in a situation before. It wasn’t the change of the tip amount that bothered me, just that the waiter was not prepared to tell me if they had my iPad or not without talking about my tip first. I will not be coming here ever again. As a 17 year old alone in the city, I have never felt like I didn’t have a voice until now. Terrible experience.

Polite service. Had to wait 15 minutes for a table but we all really enjoyed our food. Portions are a bit small especially for America but would return.

Immediately when I opened the door to this restaurant I knew this was going to be great. The atmosphere was cozy even though there were many people. For the New Yorkers, this place seemed like a place where they could grab their morning coffee before going to work or a place to eat brunch with their besties. The room was filled with beautiful colors like pink, green and brown. A lot of different plants were hanging from the ceiling so you felt like you were in some kind of glasshouse. My friend, Vanilla, and I were seated in the corner so we could get a full look at the restaurant. I ordered an avocado toast and an iced latte, something that is really ordinary and simple. After we ordered, Vanilla and I started small talking and planning the rest of our day in the city that never sleeps. Approximately 15 minutes later our food was already there and I was surprised, this was not just an avocado toast. My food was art; The bread was delicious and there was a lot of different garnish to the smashed avocado, for example, beet hummus, pumpkin seeds, pickled onions, watermelon radish, and feta. All the different ingredients looked perfect together and also tasted perfect together. Furthermore, the price was fair. So, if you are finding yourself where 9th avenue and 25th street meets you should definitely take your time to visit this cozy and artistic restaurant for either brunch or lunch.

Amazing place in Chelsea. Excellent service and tipic American food. Perfect for brunch or breakfast. Banana bread is wonderfoul, like its staff, that is kind and professional. We recommend it to everyone and We will definitely go back. It’s the best place food in Chelsea.

Having seen this place on multiple food blogs I worried this would be one of those places that only thought about looks not taste - but that was not the case. The place looked as nice as it does in pictures and with the bright natural light that illuminated the entire café and the big plants hanging from the ceiling I see why this place is so popular amongst bloggers, but the place is much more than its pretty looks. I went with a friend for late brunch, but because of the limited vegan options (the only marked vegan option was a salad), our brunch turned into an early lunch. I had the Wellness Bowl (consisting of cold quinoa, kale, red beets and avocado tossed with a lemon dressing) and it tasted amazing. The sour dressing went nicely with the sweet bets and the kale. My friend isn’t vegan and had the avocado toast which was very delicious as well. If you are vegan I would recommend this place for lunch - not breakfast, but if you are a vegetarian (there are lots of vegetarian options) or an omnivore, this place would be ideal for both lunch and breakfast. The staff is nice and the prices are fair/what you would expect (my salad cost 12$ and it was huge - I couldn’t eat all of it), but I do think a modern place like this should have more vegan options (or write in their menu what can be made vegan).

For a cafe, it sports fancy snacks, with very fancy prices. The "smashed avocado" sandwich, one of the fancy-priced items, had too much garlic for my taste. Sitting at a table requires waitress service, driving up your cost even more. The cappuccino was good, but not as hot as it could have been had the cups been pre-heated.

Came to citizens of Chelsea based on the Instagram photos of the food so decided to pop down and give it whirl. A nice selection on the menu, the food itself it good but nothing spectacular. The staff were very pleasant, polite and helpful. Worth a try but I’ll be exploring other places before I’d go back

Good coffee, good tea and good chocolate. Pleasant place to take a cup in a freezing day to warm you. Fast and kind attending.

Smart breakfast place in the heart of Chelsea. Reservation highly recommended. Totally warm service (Barabara). We had Drip Coffee , Eggs Benedict Classic, with Hash Brown ( Rösti) and Bagel with Salmon, then Pancakes... Very good quality breakfast, not too big portions, pancakes were kind of different than usual, but good. Atmo a bit arg indusrial style, not quite our thing. Still nice stay. Price a little higher, $67 without tip is not quite inexpensive.

We had a nice meal here. They have a terrace along the street side where you can also sit. The staff is friendly. And it's a pretty fair price to be in NYC.

cozy place with great service and yummy food!! we had no less than a great experience at citizens of Chelsea. the food and the drinks were really tasty and the service was great. will come back for sure!

We came here for breakfast during our stay in New York. Being from Melbourne we were looking for a good coffee and this is where we found it! Awesome breakfast and great service too! A must if you're around Chelsea!

Very cute place with delicious menu and fabulous Frozé! Wait staff was very friendly and helpful! Highly recommend this place!

A fast and delicious brunch with friendly service. The waffle was a shared item and very dense and sweet, the perfect dessert to share among multiple people. The poached eggs were cooked perfectly! It felt healthy and fresh.

We ordered the pulled pork Benny and avocado toast. Both were extremely good, eggs were cooked to perfection. The staff were very friendly and the vibe was great

Good coffee & healthy breakfast options. Reminded me of Melbourne which was great as a visiting tourist who was sick of US breakfast. Limited seating available so come early

Great Saturday morning breakfast. Comfortable and casual with great service. Hands down, the best poached eggs and smoked salmon that I have ever had. Highly recommended.

Well, what can I say? The title says it all. I’m fortunate to travel to NYC regularly and to date this is the best brekkie joint I’ve found so far. Its unassuming exterior hides friendly staff, great coffee and the brekkie sandwich is just awesome. Not cheap as you’d expect in Chelsea but you get what you pay for. Give it a go. You wont be disappointed

Just got a coffee here whilst walking down to Chelsea Market. This cafe / coffee shop had a good vibe, and the majority of the customers were in the 20 - 35 age group. The food I saw on the tables as I waited for my to-go coffee did look very good. My Americano DeCaf Coffee was US$3

Really nice ambiance, chill atmosphere, and everything tasted great. Would definitely come back. 10/10 !!!!!!!!!!!

Being in New York, excellent Aussie brunch restaurants are popping up all around. Like them all, this one is fantastic. The coffee and breakfast options are typical for a restaurant in Australia. Healthy and tasty, the service was good however it is rather expensive. But that is what you expect in New York. I’d recommend it to any one visiting, especially Australians’.

Service is good, so things do move quickly... but be prepared for a wait! Once we had seats and ordered, beverages were delivered. Chai for me, OJ for him. Breakfast also seemed to come sooner than I expected, given the crowd. Smashing Avo Benny - delish. Not sure that the beet hummus is needed. It's pretty, but didn't add much to the dish. The hash brown was okay... I should've gotten the seasonal greens instead He enjoyed his breakfast sandwich. Like the Benny, it came on their cheddar biscuit - flavorful and dense.

I was at Citizens of Gramercy for brunch on Sunday March 17th. I ordered my sandwich with the beetroot chutney on the side. I got a meat so dry it looked it was cooked the day before. The roll was definitely at least one day old, dry and tasteless. They completely forgot the beetroot chutney and the potatoes were also dry and old. If you are attracted by words like "Australian" and "hip", "cute spot" and "very Instagramable???" then go and waste your money and time. However, if you look for good food and fair prices, go anywhere else.

A nice little spot of brunch. Cute inside, with a good selection on the menu, and friendly staff. The food was served quickly and it was very tasty! We went on our way to walk the high line, it was busy but we were seated quickly and a reservation wasn't required.

I’ve been to several times and I keep going back because of the food. The service though is up and down. Even when no one is waiting for the table, you can feel them hurrying you along.

What a fantastic way to start a day exploring Chelsea and the HighLine ,we had a window seat and could watch the locals go about their business on 10th avenue as we tucked into a Duck Benny and the beetroot hummus toast with 2 cups of coffee ,the benny was just so good with the duck bacon and 2 poached eggs in hollandaise sauce. The café was bright and very clean with the young staff eager to help , this is a great place to start a New York morning.

Citizens of Chelsea is a cute spot in Chelsea. It has two large seating areas as well as a bar area serving all meals, but they are known for their Australian brunch. My wife and I eat ordered a dish and coffees. Here's what won: 1) Salmon eggs: Tasty and the eggs were cooked perfectly. 2) Nutella latte: So chocolatey and excellent. Sadly, my pulled pork eggs benedict were lacking flavor and the eggs weren't done well. It was decent, but I had better elsewhere.

What jumps out in so many of these reviews of this Australian eatery are the once glowing references to staff and service. Afterall, the food's nothing to write home about. The menu's extremely limited and, while I like an item or two, there just aren't enough choices to keep a "regular" like me interested. Still, I go in everyday to pick up a cappuccino and maybe a "Wellness Bowl" (they take grain bowls too literally...make sure to ask for less grain more greens or you'll be eating your carb allotment for the week) - and for a quick visit with the friendliest funniest staff around. I used to think it was by design that the management created such a welcoming vibe. Turns out, Australians (many of their employees) are just naturally funny and charming. As it turns out, the friendlier and funnier, the quicker to be FIRED. Why management is intent on screwing up what was truly the magic of the place is beyond me. They say it's their new hands-off approach. Guy's it's NOT working. Apparently they've handed the reins over to someone who doesn't like that everyone's so friendly with everyone but him. All I know is this...everyday I meet people at the counter who are there for the same reason I am: coffee and a friendly chat (a rarity these days). If management has it's way, pretty soon there'll be nobody to chat with. Postscript : Today I was banned, essentially for expressing these opinions.

We've eaten here twice and both times were delicious. The food is American/Australian modern blend, tasty and authentic. You enter and feel transported to a chic and hip cafe in downtown Melbourne, with friendly staff, fresh ingredients and mouthwatering food. The restaurant is not huge, but somewhat spacious by New York City standards, with plenty of room for a single person, small groups or families, or even large groups. We love the smashed avocado toast, which transported us back to Melbourne. The unsweetened iced tea is also great. Kids are welcome too.

My husband and I visited Citizen's on a recent trip to NYC. This neighbourhood has no shortage of great food options, but we always aim to try somewhere new. On this occasion we visited on a weekday in the early afternoon and availed ourselves to both the lunch and all-day breakfast options. We ordered: Eggs Benedict - Good. Was a little more interesting than your average eggs benedict, featuring a roasted beet, spread. Farmers Bowl - Filling - Large serving of Quinoa. Lemonade x 2 - Very Refreshing on a hot day! This space allows for both table service/take away and the menus seemed to be the same, which is a nice option for those wishing to take their lunch and enjoy outdoors. We opted to sit in house and enjoy some much needed air conditioning. The space is open concept and trendy. Tables were a touch to close together for my liking, but not a huge deal.

If I could give 10 stars for this place I would! We stopped in for brunch quite randomly after just searching for somewhere to eat and oh my goodness it would be hard for me to be more impressed. The atmosphere was amazing, with lots of cute plants and lighting and an area where you can kind of see the chefs in action. The service was outstanding, with our orders being taken shortly after being seated, everything being served quicker than expected, and staff checking in with us that perfect amount - not too little, and not too much to be annoying. And oh my goodness, the food! I wanted to order everything off the menu but I ended up going with the salmon eggs, which were absolutely divine. Coupled with the Rose Mimosa, it was the perfect meal and I couldn't have asked for anything else. I absolutely recommend this place and I cannot wait to go back again!

Even though this place was busy, the host was able to seat our group together at the community table. Hip, fast paced, but not rushed, they create wonderful food here. Our server was attentive, prompt and memorized our order correctly (almost). The food is fresh, creative, but not pretentious, and with many healthy choices. This is a hip and vibrant place, with the only downsides being that it is loud when crowded, and they have only a single unisex bathroom for the whole place, so go easy on the Frose’ -or not!

They don't take reservations but you can be added to a waitlist on Yelp and as long as the whole party is present they will seat you when you're next in line. We were a party of 5 and were seated almost immediately despite a very full room. Food came out quickly and was delicious - healthy options beautifully presented. We all loved our choices. I recommend the Barbie bowl (perfect serving size, the peanut butter was a nice touch). My friends got the avocado toast with beet hummus and enjoyed. Fresh orange juice delicious, velvet latte with oat milk was amazing. One comment was that it was extremely loud and hard to hear each other, and it was very crowded, which is why this is a four star not a five star experience.

We were strolling around Chelsea and stumbled upon an unexpected exceptional find. Incredible coffee, incredible food. Warm, friendly, prompt service. A great vibe.

We loved this place. Being honest - looks nothing from the outside but open the door + everything changes especially such a welcoming hello! Excellent coffee, super fresh granola bowl that was generous in portion size + a lovely caramel crunch granola. Good value for money for NYC. Only reason I don’t give 5 stars is because scuffed took a while to come + had to ask twice - not a grumble as coffee worth the wait. Highly recommend. Thank you!

As an Aussie living in New York City, it’s great to find a brunch similar to that which we have back in Australia. Had the smashed avo, was delicious. Coffee is good also. Would recommend.

Tried on a Sunday around 9:00. We were able to get in which is a plus. Had avocado toast and yogurt bowl. Both pretty good. Nothing extraordinary but basic goodness.

Everything we ordered was excellent from the coffee to the pancakes to the Pulled Pork Eggs Benedict. The smashed potato under the eggs & pork was so delicious. The restaurant is cute and the staff were very friendly, receptive (and attractive!). We had a wonderful experience and left full and happy. I highly recommend this place and would definitely go back on our next trip to NYC.

Wow amazing breakfast waffle Busy place but good service Great for vegetarians as well On the way to hotline walk from 23 street metro

Definitely a must eat at place. Staff is friendly and accommodating. Food is prepared perfectly and tastes delicious. I had the Breakki Sandwich. Yummy

This place is such a cute little breakfast spot with great coffee. Theres a really nice relaxed vibe here, which is what you want for a casual breakfastvor brunch. I had the avocado benny! The cheese biscuit that they serve it on was so delicious and the food was so well presented. My colleague had the big brekkie which also looked great and was apparently tasty. They have seating nothing indoor and outdoor. We chose to sit outside as it was a lovely day but if it had been a little chilly they do have patio heaters. The servers were lovely and we had flawless service from a lovely Jamaican gentleman. With Brekafast and 2 coffees with tax and tip it was around $35-$40 per person. I look forward to returning in the near future.

New to us but one block from where we are staying, it is a must try. We went for Sunday brunch and found an incredible menu and went back for dinner, not solely out of convenience. This is a gem of a foodie's find; a fresh take the on some old standbys. Do make the effort to dine here.

Enjoyed my avocado sandwich- beautifully prepared but it’s kind of different to eat with a knife and fork. Bread was a little hard. Husband had the pulled pork sandwich. The place is also very loud. Espresso was good.

This is a simple cafe, clean and modern, at which we ate a very hearty, fresh breakfast/brunch. The food was ample, hot and cooked to order, the coffee was good. The price reasonable. Not anything extra special. Just good, quick, efficient and friendly service and fresh food.

We were feeling a bit peckish and abandoned the High Line at 26th St in search of eats in Chelsea. Fortunately, we wandered by Citizens of Chelsea on 9th and it looked perfect for our brunchy desires. I had the avocado toast with a poached egg and my lovely wife had the schnitzel sandwich, a matcha latte, and an OJ. All were delicious.

Great atmosphere! Came 30 mins after they were open and we were served our full breakfast about 20 minutes later. Food was phenomenal. Would come again!

We stopped for afternoon Tea and also tried the beet hummus on toast. Very nice!! Friendly service and quiet place to sit.

Great breakfast and cool vibe! Quick service and great alternative to the New York diners which are everywhere

Citizens of Chelsea is such a nice café for brunch or lunch. It's an Australian café so the coffee here is really good. The food items on the menu are also delicious and have substantial portion sizes, and everyone was so happy with what they ordered. The ingredients were also really fresh, and they have healthy options. The staff are also very welcoming and friendly. The café was quite busy when we went, so we had to wait a little bit for a table. Would recommend the Miso chicken bowl, the pulled pork benny and the wellness bowl.

Went to the Restaurant for Sunday Brunch. We had reservations and arrived 10 minutes before the reservation time. The Manager asked our group to wait outside in the heat because there were too many people waiting for tables. However as more people arrived no one else was asked to wait outside. The food was very good and the Wait staff very attentive. When we finished our meals one of our party went to use the restroom, the others were on their phones checking in for our flights later that day. It wasn't 5 minutes before the same Manager approached our table and asked us if we were finished and could leave to free up the table for waiting guests. Needless to say, will never ever go back to this restaurant, and someone needs to teach the Manager better customer service skills.

We found Citizens on day one of our week-long break from the UK and loved it so much we came every day bar one (regretted trying Grey Dog which wasn’t a patch on Citizens) Food was absolutely delicious, coffee great and service excellent. Gwyneth was exceptional and took the time to talk to us and to recommend dishes/drinks to try. Thank you for making our visit special.

While online surfing on the several places to have a good Brunch in New York, I chose this well reviewed place. Very good and healthy food. Very kind people. Fast serving of the food. Very nice atmosphere.

Enjoyed the Aussie style breakfast - salmon eggs. Very light, healthy and refreshing. The only issue is the place is really small, and busy, but tries to put as much as seating in which makes the situation worse. Cast iron baked egg is a bit too much/heavy for breakfast. Coffee and cold drinks are good.

Stopped by for a mid-AM breakfast. Younger vibe, eclectic style. Good food. Very pleasant, patient and helpful staff.

To our delight we stumbled upon citizens before hitting the highline. If you’re after some real espresso like we do in Melbourne- this is your place! Menu also looked delicious.

This place is just off the beaten track and feels like the place the locals go to. Great atmosphere, great service and really great food. Faultless

We came here as had walked past in the weekend and it was humming with local popularity. I had the coconut and blueberry bircher and it was beautiful, recommend you stop by and try. Our Australian waitress was happy helpful and added to the meal

We had a working trip to NYC and needed breakfast. We saw this cafe was on the way so we stopped. So glad that we did. It was an amazing

We had breakfast at the Citizens of Chelsea last Wednesday and loved what we had. I had the Waffle - delicious with fresh fruits and so caramelized - and my boyfriend had the Duck Benny - he said it was one of the best things he has ever eaten. Totally recommended, don’t miss out on your next visit to New York!

While walking around NYC and getting a little lost! We ended up in Chelsea and came across this beautiful coffee shop. Really nice food and coffee and staff were very friendly and showed us on the map how to get back to our hotel.

So yummy and delicious. I had over night oats and matcha and my bf had coffee and avo on toast. We loved it so yummy and an amazing matcha. Chilled vibes and friendly staff.

My wife discovered Citizens of Chelsea on one of her trips to NYC, and tries to go there whenever in Chelsea. This was my second visit. First time I had the Salmon Eggs and this time I had the Avocado Toast with poached egg and bacon. Both terrific, especially the latter. Yum! Espresso and lattes are very good here, though maybe not up to the level of a Cafe Grumpy or Joe Pro. Still much more drinkable than typical cafe fare. Highly recommended. You won’t be disappointed.

This was a nice breakfast spot for us. Food was creative. Looked beautiful and tasted great. Lots of variety with healthy ingredients. Service was quick and pleasant.

Me and my boyfriend visited a monday aftertoon. We were pleased with the atmosphere and the location! Nonetheless the coffee machine was broken. The people working there was friendly and effective. Would recommend for a lunch visit.

A great example of the type of excellent coffee joints that are starting to pervade New York. Scratch the surface and a couple of Australian accents appear, which explains a lot. Highly recommended.

Amazing breakfast. Super tasty BBQ with potatoes and poached eggs and a belgian waffle with berries ❤️❤️❤️ Recommend this place. You have to wait in a line to be seated though.

Had lunch with friends and loved the fresh, healthy food and real coffee. Great Australian service. Thanks Andy.

Fun Aussie joint in the heart of Chelsea! Bowls and sandwiches were delicious. They also had Austin East Cider - one of the best ciders in the USA! Our waitress Tricia was delightful! Highly recommend.

We are locals who live in Manhattan, and come here for brunch almost every other Sunday. We love this place so much that when we have out-of-town friends/family, we make sure to bring them here! And, they love it (and ask to come back on their next visit!). The staff/team from the hosts to the servers are ALL amazing, the food is FAB (super consistent in quality, flavor profile), and overall, a memorable meal and experience. A Pro Tip: like with any popular spot in Manhattan, there's almost always a wait. Citizens of Chelsea has a waitlist option on Yelp. We always add our names to this ahead of time, which helps minimize the wait upon arrival. Highly recommend Citizens of Chelsea, we can't wait for our next brunch there!

Service was very friendly, location is ideal just off the subway. The food is delicious with lots of add ons to add flavour

We’ve been here 3 times for brekky now in the last 9 days. Breakfast is super super tasty and well portioned for price. Comes out super quickly and the coffee IS.SO.GOOD!!!! Strongly recommend the avo toast, real filling.. no need to add the egg unless it’s scrambled (delightful). The waiters are all really nice and attentive. Wish I could remember their names. V satisfying

The pancakes are really big and good, the place is nice but very "instagramable" so we lose the charm of New York. On the other hand, be careful he asks for a big tip, which disappoints a lot. (10$ for our part and we validated the payment without even seeing it)
Great aesthetic & food.
The food is great here, a little overpriced if you're only going to be ordering an avo toast, but thats always the case. Its presented very well and the restaurant has a great aesthetic. The staff are a little pretentious though. Could be taken down a notch, but I'd still come back for the food.
