Great Beer Selection Service could be better

By The Travel Doctor |

I was in the mood to sample some craft beer and this place was recommended to me. Restaurant The outside is reasonably well signed and inviting. Inside the place is clean and well kept. The seating was comfortable, and if very good condition. The bathrooms were also well attended to and clean, mind you it was not busy so I am not sure if this would hold true on a busy night. Beer I did not eat here as I just came to sample some craft beer. They offer flights and I took advantage of this in order to try additional beers. I founf the samples to be very expensive which ranged between 3.50 to 5.00 dollars. That said they did have a very large selection so if you are looking for a place with variety, this would be it. Service I found the service to be very good and was very well looked after. The people working were very knowledgeable abut beer which resulted in some good conversations. Overall my experience was positive and would return, and this time to try the food as what I saw did mook very good

Decent downtown sports bar with some interesting menu items

By christopherbO9687MP |

City Tap House is a decent downtown sports bar (large screens showing most of the live televised sports in the area) with some interesting menu items located in Philadelphia's Logan Square. I had some tomato vegetable soup, followed by a shrimp, collard greens & grits main course and finished with a hazelnut cobbler. These are items you don't normally see on a sports bar menu, and they all tasted very good. Service was reasonably quick on an average mid-week evening. A good choice if you are staying in the Logan Square area.

For sure a sports bar with plenty of beer to choose from... but I recommend to avoid any food.... Cesar Salad mit fresh and spicy wings were very dry coated....

Awesome

By JoeHyd |

The pub has some lovely beers, good ambience and some lovely veg food. Not very cheap. I would prefer to go there again and again.

Food was a real disappointment and service was the same.

By mreilletac |

I was in town for business and went there twice. First visit was a Monday night when virtually empty. less that 30 patrons. Our food was mediocre but acceptable. The service person was too bust talking to someone and could never figure out how to help us. Finally the manager asked if we need more drinks.. .. The next time was Thursday of the same week, since the guys and I like to drink good Beer. Place was packed, Service was much better but the food was horrible. None of us would eat there again. I had ribs that were dried out and the coleslaw was horribly old. The others had steak and both were a bad presentation and they did not finish either. We wrote the place off. Came highly recommended and was a real disappointment. Certainly they can serve good beer. Maybe at the bar is the best seat in the house.

Good beer, strange food options

By medfordnjmom |

3-1/2 stars. For a place called Tap City, you’d think the beer list would be readily available. Nope. Didn’t see it posted anywhere and there was no list on the table. Had to wait for the waiter! Oddly, he took it away after we ordered. Beer selection was terrific-quite a variety. I had a tart but not sour Avery fruity wheat beer that was great. They also offered as a sangria that wasn’t really a sangria. More like prosecco with fruity tones. The food options were really different—not your standard pub food. Ahi tuna was reported to be delicious but a small appetizer sized portion.! Veggie burger was interesting and my vegan version was on a thick tasty bread. The Non vegan version was on a brioche bun. Sausage and mushroom pizza was a giant portion so that was shared with the mini portion of tuna member of our party. Salads looked good but not great. The price was very reasonable for 6 people,2 craft beers each and lunches was $189 before tip. Waiter was very nice, the only negative being the lack of beer list. Coed bathrooms were very convenient. Shared sink area with about 8 fully enclosed stalls so it wasn’t weird at all.

Great beer selection, but the Hanger Steak leaves a lot to desire unless you like salt

By Dave S |

Stop here for dinner after a long day in the office. Beer selection was great. Service was great. Ordered the Hanger Steak for dinner. The meat was good quality, but it was served in a sauce that tasted like ocean water. Not sure if it would still be liquid if they added any more salt. Broccoli looked and tasted like it was cooked this morning. Stick to their pizzas. They actually look good. With all the great restaurants in the area, not sure I would be in a rush to go back. As others have said, distinctively average.

The Epitome of "Average" - but great beers

By SFWorld |

Go for the beers. The food, in a town with lots of good options, is definitely "average." You will never have a bad dish but you wont' be wowed either. We were really impressed by the break out of gluten free items which made choosing that for our youngest much easier. Servers were great overall.

Good food but noisy

By Peter O |

Good selection of dishes at reasonable prices. I had ribs and my wife had grilled fish - both very good and filling. The place was REALLY noisy! Difficult to have conversation across the table. Our booth was in a quiet part of the room. Then live music began and conversation was nearly impossible.

Enjoyed the visit

By N_nmd |

Fun and lively atmosphere: food was good and plentiful. A very large selection of beer choices. Portions were plentiful.

Poor service

By Samantha R |

Waiter Kevin forgot to put in our appetizer, coming back to ask if we were waiting for food. Then said he’d take it off the bill, we never saw waiter again. Ultimately we got bill with app still on it, dropped cash and left. Table next to us got their appetizer and main course before beers.

Food Good. Dripping Water, Not So Much

By Bear_E1065 |

I had lunch at CTH on 8/25/2017. We sat at a long, high table directly in front of the kitchen. I was lightly spritzed with water several times. I couldn't determine the source and I mentioned it to the manager. He was well aware of the problem. Apparently it was condensate coming off air conditioning equipment in use by another tenant of the building and over which the restaurant had no control. Apparently this problem affects three or four tables. I have to wonder how this gets by management, much less the health department. Condensate is a great place to grow bacteria. The manager explained that because of the ceiling, the cost to rectify this problem was prohibitive. Other than that, I found the food good, the wait staff personable and attentive. If you decide to visit this place, just make sure you ask not to be seated under the air conditioning condensate drip.

Friendly staff, decent burgers and more TV screens than you can avoid looking at.

Friendly staff, decent burgers and chips and more TV screens than you can avoid looking at. Gets busy.

Great Place in a nice location

By David B |

One of the best places in Philly to watch a game, great sports bar and the food not overly expensive, Next time I am in town will go back, it's full of locals

Huge Split Screen TVs --Sports Fan's Heaven

By Jody G |

We came here for a late night party for drinks (good) and some Parmesan fries (soggy). The place was hopping and we had a good time. The huge TVs are the centerpiece and we were able to find out if our teams won that day.

Fried Chicken Heaven

By Renay P |

In town to visit our son, first time in Philly. There are so many great pubs and restaurants here. This place has a big open and airy atmosphere, waitress was prompt and friendly. However...I am writing this review because the fried chicken sandwich was probably the best I've ever had. The chicken breading was crispy, well seasoned and the chicken was like BUTTER! Even my husband agreed. Can't wait to visit again;. I'll try the chicken and waffles.

Pleasant

Stopped in for dinner.Service was ok nothing special.Food was good and didnt have to wait long.Nice looking place which seemed to be popular for after work drinks.

Fun place!

By wenbac |

I went to this great place because it was near my hotel (Embassy Suites) and I'm so glad that I did! Even went back a second evening to try more! A bit loud in there but, hey, that's what happens at a hot spot!

A high price ordinary place

By Rolo |

Very pricey for a standard food, nothing exceptional, very slow services. There are plenty of places with better food and services with lower prices .

Terrible

By LovethePhillies08 |

From the service, to warm beer to overpriced food and aloof management, save your money. I ordered my burger medium rare, comes out well, okay. I tell the waitress, who could care less, she then tells the manager, who could really care less and I sit there with a $16 burger that is unedible... I expect this from a pretentious, high five yourself place like this... Ugh

Good, but

By Ron E |

It's a cool place. Chicken wings were good. Server was nice but wasn't attentive. We could see our fries on the warming ledge ready to be picked up for a good while. By the time we got them they were cold.

Delicious food

Wait staff a bit to be desired but the hostess was fantastic food was awesome accommodating on football team on tv's

Dinner the night before the parade

By Avalon2 |

Large beer selection, good appetizers and the dinner special Pig roast was fantastic. Colin the waiter was excellent and they have great TV's to watch sporting events.

Very friendly service, small but very good meny

By MrSilva |

Went here looking for good bar food and beer selection and was not disappointed. The beer selection was excellent. Their menu is, let's say "focused". They have a small menu but what they make is pretty good. My burger was pretty tasty with good options to add on (love fried egg) but the bun was a bit dry and not quite big enough. The fried were excellent. My friend loved her pizza and the bone marrow appetizer was delicious.

Great food!

By 23brigittem |

Was in town to visit our son and celebrate my husband's 4th of July birthday. Long day, got to our hotel around 6:30, a bit tired from the flights, wanted to go somewhere nearby (short walking distance) for dinner; this restaurant fit the bill; enjoyed our meal (rice bowl with steak; steak and potatoes; salmon; burger and fries); server was nice; only "drawback" I have is the "spicy" wings were a bit too salty for my taste, though my husband enjoyed them!

The Vegi Burger!

By 435ralphb |

Had the annual lunch at the City Tap! This place never fails at service, food and did I say service! I had eaten my fill at our annual breakfast and wanted something good! One of my friends had the basic hamburger, I on the other hand had the "Black bean Vegi burger," It looked identical except mine was plant base his animal base. It was great!

Beer ok, otherwise not

By nassau2 |

Overall noise level is worse than the service, which is worse than the food, which is worse than the noise level. Beer was good.

Amazing food!

By lbaustin3 |

The food was unlike anything I have ever tasted before. The brussel sprouts with pomegranate appetizer was amazing. They overcooked my steak but it was still very tasty. They compensated with free dessert. I will definitely come back here again.

Great food, prices and service

By David T |

Great pub type atmosphere with great tunes. Had Korean tacos which were great, spicy mussels great as well. Excellent service

Super Service Salad

By Allen P |

First time here, and I was very impressed with the service and the food. A Poke bowl sounds simple, but this place made it delicious. The service was excellent and I cannot wait to return. TIP: Get a reservation even for lunch.

Great food

By Ftcguy505 |

Stopped in Philly for lunch on a road trip with no idea where we would eat. It was the beginning of St Pats celebrations (a week early mind you) and a pub crawl was flooding restaurants in downtown. Found this place and really enjoyed it. Hush puppies were amazing. My kielbasa was very good and my partner had the pork belly Benedict was tender and tasty. Splitting a cookie for dessert then back on the road! Eggs were a little over done and service was slow, but it was packed.

Wouldn't rush back - GF beer!

By Jenna P |

Friendly waitstaff Fantastic bathrooms Sound level on the higher side Food ok Kinda expensive for what you get Tartufo GF pizza $18 and have the crust backed twice like the waitress recommended to make it slightly tastier. Emphasis on slightly. Burger on an Udi GF bun was ok. Nice to have options and the hubby loves the GF be offering. The table next to us returned the pumpkin and burrata bruschetta and the waitresses was super accommodating Don't order a Manhattan!

Happy Hour

By jayhawkfan2015 |

We had a great time here. They had a wonderful selection of pumpkin/seasonal beer. We were here for a work happy hour and they had pizza, hummus, ribs and hot wings. The food was good and staff very friendly.

Now hiring Bartenders!!

By Banksj |

Not my first time here. Attracted to the ten spice wings, they are fabulous. However, the name is city tap house. I want taps. Women Bartender placed napkins down for me, fiancé and friend and said, 'I'll be back to help u." She left; another bartender ( bald headed guy) came to use after waiting 10 minutes said ,"sorry for the wait I'll be right there". Then went to the end of the bar and waited on two females who came in and sat down after us.". 15 minutes later the women bartender came back to us and asked if we were okay, I said, "no can I order a drink"! We didn't even put in our food order 20 minutes in. Horrendous service, good food, good atmosphere but bartenders need a overhaul.

Delicious

By David B |

Considering that we were there on a weekend with multiple, important, games and events, the noise level was perfectly fine for conversation. We went for the food and everything we had was fresh, hot and well prepared

great place

By madeline113 |

The atmosphere is really nice. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The food delicious and the drinks great.

Good eats on the fly

By GinaCNJ |

Stopped in here after visiting the Franklin Institute, not a bad walk at all for a hot day. Generous serving on the blue crab open sandwich with half an avocado sliced on top and arugula salad, very filling and tasty. My Dining guest got a high stacked bacon burger, very good too and fries were nicely crisped. Great service from Colin. Visited on a Friday summer evening so it wasn't too crazy crowded. The only thing I wasn't crazy about was the unisex bathroom, just not used to that.

Alum meeting held in a private room.

By Sigmada |

Enjoyed the service and fine tasting food that was served. An excellent list of draft beer and delicious cider. The sliders were very, very, good.

perfect place for dinner and to watch sports

By simnznc06 |

upgrade over traditional sports bar - great beer selection and food was pretty good...goes beyond wings and nachos.

Not just for beer drinkers

By SLPri_14 |

Stopped in to grab a quick lunch, the service e is great and the food was good. My husband who is a burger n fries expert ordered the burger and fries and enjoyed it tremendously. I had the wings and an order of breakfast fries, the fries should have been crispy but overall it was good.

An Awesome Graduation Lunch - Above and Beyond!

By Escape691958 |

We recently hosted a Graduation lunch with 7 different families at City Tap House - Logan Square. Our celebration was made truly special by City Tap's awesome staff! Our server, Vic, handled the party with impeccable food and beverage service. We ordered off the regular lunch menu and everyone loved the food, especially the G.O.A.T. Pizza, Kung Pao Cauliflower, Shrimp Tacos, and burgers. Tiara was instrumental in getting our semi-private space set up just right, making sure everyone was comfortable, and assisting in whatever we needed. The whole restaurant had a great, friendly vibe! General Manager Danielle Williams went way "above and beyond” in helping us to project a music/video compilation we made to celebrate our graduates, onto one of CityTap's big screen TVs. Unfortunately, our Mac had some tech/connection issues, but Danielle kept trying to resolve the problem and eventually figured out how to get it to project by using her own laptop. Being able to watch our video on the big screen really capped off our successful Graduation party! We all greatly appreciated the amazing service, and would highly recommend City Tap - Logan Square for events, as well as for lunch anytime.

Wanted to Love this Place

By Godiva0318 |

Our group of six came to City Tap House Logan recently for dinner. The dining room couldn't accommodate us, so we grabbed seats in the bar area. We ordered a round of drinks and appetizers. The drinks came out relatively quickly, but we waited a long time for our appetizers. When they finally came out, they were cold - not even remotely warm. The pulled pork nachos were very good, but again, they were cold. The crab mac and cheese was cold and barely had any flavor of crab. Our dinner was pretty good, but also took a very long time to come out. We then had to track down our waitress for another round of drinks and eventually for the check. I think this place has potential, but the poor service gave us a bad impression.

Very noisy inside for dinner - but food was excellent

By Dale L |

Three couples went here last week for dinner at 7:15 after a function in the nearby Logan Hotel. We were looking for some place close and this is very close. When we went inside, it was very noisy, but luckily is was a gorgeous night and we asked to be moved to a table on the sidewalk. They were very accommodating and we had a lovely dinner outside. The waiter messed up the dinner orders for one of the six of us, but the manager came out and apologized profusely. She bent over backward to try to satisfy us and she did. The rest of us enjoyed our food immensely and the sixth was satisfied with a very nice (and large) salad, and sharing some of his wife's food. Portions were very large. We had scallops, a very interesting and delicious BLT Salmon dinner plate, burgers, etc. I have no problem recommending this place but would encourage you to get there early for dinner before the bar gets quite so loud.

Avoid

By sed256 |

Decent beers and service ok. Food quality was atrocious, worst food we've eaten in a week of travelling in the USA. The Tandoori chicken was bland, the steaks were poor cuts and over cooked.

Enjoyed my visit after the Rocky Run

By 1parislover |

I was in Philly for the Rocky Run and after the Italian Stallion (13.1) miles I was looking for a place near the Logal Hotel to do some post race carbo loading. I went there with my husband and 3 friends and food was excellent and service friendly. They even had several specials of the day for the race and the Rocky movie was playing on several of the TVs. I had a pizza special with a fried egg on top - the perfect post race fuel!

TOO LOUD

By goinghomenow |

We visited this as part of a pre-wedding party. The place was so loud, it was impossible to have a conversation without yelling. And what good is an "extensive" beer and wine list when you don't drink?

Great Craft Beer Selection • Decent Service

By DanNowlan |

I was in town recently and came here twice. (This place is a known commodity to me and is a must-do Philly institution in my book.) Their craft beer selection is great and they pour most brews in two different sizes as well as growler fills. My service the first night was pretty shaky. Waitress was polite but rarely attentive. Food wasn't made right either. Second night I sat at the bar and all the staff were wonderful. Quite simply, this place rocks. I'll absolutely be back!

You can't dislike this place!

By TrekkerGuy |

This is a busy central city Gastropub Microbrewery. If you get bad food, bad service, or bad drinks you're just a pretentious foody with preconceptions you're at a Michelin Five Star restaurant. This is a classic city hang with great food, cool people, unique drinks and GREAT staff! Enjoyed every minute! Try the "bone marrow luge"!

Delicious lunch

By JPORLM |

I really enjoyed my lunch which started with the whipped ricotta and orange-fig jam appetizer. The ricotta came with grilled bread and the combination of flavors was really delicious . After that I ordered the avocado and grapefruit salad which was a perfect mix of fruit, feta cheese, avocado and almonds accompanied by a honey vinaigrette. The salad was wonderful and I would definitely order it again. Our server was very nice and added to the positive experience. I would also like to mention that the Manager thanked me as I was leaving which I think is a nice touch.

sports bar atmosphere

By spahrkler |

Burger and fries with lots of televisions. They have "community tables" that can become a bit crowded but overall not a bad experience.

Delicious!!!

By Sara T |

I had Damon, really yummy!! My husband had wings which were okay. We didn’t have a burger, but they looked good, that’s what we’ll get next time!

Love the atmosphere

By Andy M |

Great place for fun beer drinking, eating and watching sports. Moderately loud when crowded. Small menu, but pizzas are real nice - thin, crisp crust, and good toppings. Sausage/mushroom pizza is very good. Quioxte pizza is good but has moderate roasted tomato/red pepper flavor. Some may find it too spicy/strong. Ceasar salad with grilled chicken was very good too. Try the great tasting terrapin gamma ray beer! Its 11% so you better sip it like wine!

Great place!

By Shannon K |

This place is great! Huge bar, lots of tv's, great place to watch a game. The menu was a little weird so we ordered the most 'normal' items, the burger and a margarita pizza, and they were both excellent! We will definitely come here again!

Great, noisy fun!

By Jarko2015 |

You really come for the atmosphere and vibe of this cavernous sports bar. Lots going on, huge screens, noisy, happy people, great staff! The beer selection is almost daunting, but the food was a bit disappointing. Pretty pricey for the quality delivered. Some better attention in the kitchen would not go amiss.

Worst. Service. Ever

By Tom B |

Walked into a mostly empty restaurant, sat at the even emptier bar. Took the bartender 5 minutes to come over and take our order - two tap beers. For the next 10 minutes we watched her pull beers and make drinks for every waiter in the place and two people at the bar. At one.point.she said, "I'll be with you in a minute." Also saw her fill a glass for a mixed drink by scooping the ice out with the glass instead of a scooper. Who knows how many glasses she chipped into the ice doing that. Finally walked out after 15 minutes without ever being served.

Sad we didn’t get here sooner

By Ashley F |

This place was right next to our hotel and we almost missed it. So glad we didn’t. We were actually headed somewhere else for dinner and decided to go here and get out of the rain. They have an extensive beer menu that had quite the variety to choose from. The scotch ale was absolutely wonderful. The food was good and not outrageously overpriced like we felt a lot of places were in the city. And the portions were very generous. We definitely enjoyed ourselves. The only downside was that all of the restrooms are unmarked so I had to get help to find out which one had a changing station. I don’t have a problem with the open restroom policy but I also don’t want to keep opening doors trying to find the one with the changing station.

Good Beer Selection

By AnnM336 |

This is a nice reasonably priced spot close to Parkway area. Good selection of beer and friendly, efficient staff. Lots of workers from nearby office buildings. Average menu items and flatbread was very good.

Great Bar food for a Large Group

By Lesley Y |

Second year in a row that we went there with a group of 22 during Army Navy football weekend and it worked out great! They were very communicative about the reservation ahead of time, sat us immediately, gave us great service and helped out with gluten free options (and manager came to speak to me). Their food and drinks are very solid with great bar food options but also some more fancy stuff. I would say the only down side is that it’s pretty loud but it’s exactly the kind of atmosphere we wanted after a day of tailgating. They really treated us well and we will definitely go back.

Good place for families mid-day

By Heather M |

We went here for a late lunch after visiting the Franklin Institute (Harry Potter Exhibit) and were pleased with our choice. This was one of the only places we found in Philadelphia (on our 2 day stay in Center City, very near City Hall) that had a kids menu. Everyone enjoyed their food and the adults enjoyed a locally brewed beer from the tap. Our server was friendly and made sure we had some food right away (and for kids that's crucial.) We were very pleased with our experience here.

Delicious Dinner

By SHC5015 |

Four of us dined for dinner. I really enjoyed the fried chicken sandwich which had the most delicious relish. The margarita was great, too. Their pizzas were NOT plain! Looked very tasty! Good service and nice wide screen tv for all to see the sports events going on that day.

Here for wedding

By Jerry P |

We were in Philadelphia for a wedding and met other attendees here for dinner. Great food, good service, reasonable price.

Great food and atmosphere

By amyjholick |

We had a large party and the hostess graciously accommodated us even though we did not have a reservation. Much appreciated after a long day! Food was great. My daughter and I both had the Classic Margherita pizza and it was delicious. Freshly made tomato sauce was so good you could immediately taste they used fresh quality tomatoes/sauce. Fresh mozzarella and beautiful fresh basil. Crust was perfect as well. My son had a hamburger and fries. He said it was the best hamburger he ever had. Great beer selection too!

Beer + 10 spice wings = YUMMY

By Thsgoldberg |

I was at 2 Logan Square and my husband called and told me to meet him a City Tap House, which was in the same building where I was. They had outdoor seating, which we have loved to sit at but they were very busy as it was Happy Hour. We sat inside where music was playing and tvs were on showing whichever game happened to be on. We decided to order small plates and share (we were meeting two other people). The 10 spice wings are DELICIOUS!! We also enjoyed the muscles Abigail and an amazing goat cheese pesto pizza and crab fritters. The beer was amazing as well. I would highly recommend a flight of beer so you can enjoy the selections available. A flight is 4 - 4 oz beers of your choosing. Definitely the way to go. Our server was great too! Very friendly, great sense of humor and knew the menu well

Great beer

By Bendic O |

The restaurant have a reasonable choices of beer. It’s not an “all beer” restaurant like many other. I found myself to try a couple of new tastes of beer and they where much appreciated. For dinner I went for pizza margarita which was a fine choice, like how margaritas normally are. The location where a dark venue with lots of people and much noise. A great place to grab a beer, not so much if you to have a discussion with someone. The waiter where polite, self confident and fast. Just the way they should be. Thanks for a great evening!

Pretzel & Pub Cheese was excellent!

By Cameron S |

Great location near Logan Square. Cheeseburger and fries were very good, but I loved the Pretzel & Pub Cheese! Great atmosphere, plenty of TV screens.

This Place is HIP!

By AmericanTouristBen |

Hip is the best way to describe this place. When we visited, the bar was featuring the complete line of Goose Island beers (including Goose Island's rare porters) in addition to its normal craft beer selection. The food is good. We had the arugula pizza, which I recommend.

Spur of the Moment Decision

By John S |

Turned out our spur of the moment decision turned out pretty good. I had their shrimp and grits. The shrimp and grits were pretty good but the greens were to die for. My wife had the mussels with the panang style sauce which was also amazing, get it with a side of hot sauce if you like heat. They had some decent wines as well so we had a good super Tuscan to go with it, great place.

Great food and service

By Jim G |

I ate at City Tap in July 2019 with three friends. Service was prompt, alcohol selection was plentiful, the food runners knew who ordered which meal, and overall value was good. It is on a side street off the main dag in Center City so it was convenient for those at many nearby hotels.

Awesome burger

By comesailwithme321 |

You kind of hit or miss a lot of the time when you order a burger medium rare. My medium rare came out at the perfect shade of pink, would eat again!

Pleasant surprise

By Jon A |

Just yards from our hotel we thought we would give it a try. Great selection of beer and food as expected. Nothing flash, but well served and presented. Genreous tasty portions. Good value for money. Place for a quick meal as opposed to a night out.

a gem of a place, a pleasant surprise

By susanwwalters |

we went for the local beer but the food was great. a very diverse menu with fresh and delicious ingredients. staff was friendly and efficient. family friendly. a must for anyone

Shrimp and Grits Rule!!

By vivavino |

It's mostly a sportsy bar so I wasn't the best fit, but I absolutely loved the shrimp and grits dinner. I had one great meal, and returned for a second!!

Good fun Good food and beer, busy and noisy

By braidmacd |

Lots of bustle and noise. Lots of good beer (also wine and Spirits) and pub food. Had a chorizo and clam pizza (no, never had one before either) and it was fabulous. Can be very crowded, . Fair pricing Recommend

Outstanding Comfort Food in vibrant craft beer hall

By David L |

We returned three times to this culinary gem , disguised as a beer hall. Yes, you can get any one of a hundred craft beers , but the winner here is the comfort food. From hush puppies to poached eggs with pork hash the breakfast/brunch offerings are outstanding. The menu offerings are creative , with an emphasis on "un-healthy decadence". It's vibrant and noisy here , and the crowd runs the entire spectrum from 20 somethings to tourists and older locals. Thanks to "Miles" who took good care of us. Come here for great food, good service and a fun atmosphere

downtown lunch

By Joe M |

Stopped for a quick lunch with wife and son. Food was great, the roast pork sandwich was served in a very unique way..excellent. Really nice atmosphere. The place had a nice layout with a large bar area, a larger sitting area for eating (portions of the room far enough from the bar for family dining), multiple televisions, with one large tv directly behind the bar. A great place to meet with friends to eat, drink, watch sports, or just to "hang out". The staff was very friendly and cordial. Will definitely be back.

Fabulous Find in Philadelphia

By Angela D |

Friends and I were staying in Logan Square and noticed the Tap House while exploring the neighborhood. We decided to go in and have a mid afternoon cocktail. The place has a lively ambience and a number of tv screens over the bar over the numerous taps. After perusing the menu, we decided to share a warm pretzel. The large pretzel was indeed warm and wonderfully chewy. On the side were two dipping sauces: a whole grain mustard and a warm white ale cheddar. Excellent. We decided to return the next day for lunch. The menu is expansive and our server was extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We shared the crab and corn hushpuppies which arrived in a delicious pool of citrus remoulade with a small ramekin of honey thyme butter. The combination was beyond delicious. The roasted mushroom, sauteed leek, guanciale and taleggio omelet was perfectly cooked. We were able to taste their homemade muffins with an outstanding blueberry compote. The burrito, mashed English pea, prosciutto and lemon oil appetizer is another winner. It is served with thick slices of grilled bread. This is not your ordinary bar food, to say the least. During our 3 day visit to Philadelphia we went to the Tap House 3 times. They take pride in their product and it shows in the food and the service. I'm not a beer drinker but their multi page beer list is impressive. This is a MUST in Philadelphia.

Great place with good food!

By suecassel |

This place often has special events, and yesterday was Saison Day, sponsored by Allagash. We had 10 people that became 12, and the staff was so accommodating. They split the bill, without being asked, into manageable numbers so that we could easily split it with credit cards. Our server was excellent, and the food was tasty comfort food. Great for all kinds of occasions.

Great beer list, good food.

By tlc732 |

City Tap House has become a habit on our Philly visits. Great beer list. Good food. Noisy and full of 20 and 30 somethings, but still family friendly.

Excellent spot for a drink

By Brent H |

Great bar area for drinks. Really good beer selection. The food is good too, good selection of apps. It gets very busy during lunch, so come early or late.

Great Food

By Brigitte C |

We ate at the City Tap House while in town for a conference. My husband and two others in our group had the steak. They all said it was excellent. I had the lump crab cakes that were the special. I loved them. The only downside was the noise level inside made it so it was hard to carry on a conversation with those at our table.

good food,loud,loud,loud!

By NetteY |

We went as a group on a Friday evening. The service was sporadic. The food was great and the portions were not too big. It was so loud we were screaming across the table to talk.

Great beer and apps, fun place to hang out

By John A |

This is a sports bar with a old city feel to it. The place was very lively and mostly filled with 20 and 30 somethings. In addition to the very good beer selection they have outstanding appetizers. The menu is limited but very good overall. I will definitely go again.

Great Place for Dinner

By Jim K |

On a recent trip to Philadelphia we stay at Logan Square and had dinner two nights at the City Tap House. They have a great selection of food and drinks. I recommend getting reservations as they get pretty busy. I found that the on-line menu was out of date.

Great joint

By SubtleSandy |

Had a wonderful brunch here on a Saturday. Crowded bar and tables so we ended up at a high top in the bar. Started with corn and crab hush puppies; sooo good! They had a honey butter that was good but not necessarily because the sauce they were in was delicious. Next we had ricotta cheese on perfect toast. Ricotta had honey and black berries and the toast had a pinch of salt. All of it was combined was really delicious. I had the burger which was good but a burger. Friend had steak Benedict and loved it. Had a couple margaritas and friend had sangria. Good drinks. Atmosphere was more bar like than restaurant but good vibe. Will definitely go back. Really enjoyed my time there

Business social

By JayneShuff |

Dined here with colleagues, it was very noisy so was a struggle to hold a decent conversation. Food was fine, we shared starters and I had burger for main which was tasty. Staff could of been a little more attentive on drinks orders, I ended up drinking more water as struggled to grab attention of staff to order another drink. Colleagues enjoyed the beer choice! All in all, if you want a casual place to dine it meets that criteria.

You had me at pizza

By Joe L |

What would you expect from a tap house restaurant. Well that is pretty much the vibe and atmosphere at the City Tap. On my visit they were preparing to change over a number of their beers on tap, so the selection was limited. I had a local ipa that was ok, a stout that was good, and a cider that was better than the previous two. Each was recommended by the bar tender, not sure if she knew what she was selling or just pushing was what popular. I ordered the Street Corn tip, for my taste it was very watery, and you couldn’t taste the jalapeño’s but no need wasting anymore time on the app is it wasn’t memorable. Now what was memorable and made me right this review was the brick oven pizza. I ordered the Four fathers pizza which is basically the meet lovers pizza and it was love at first bite. If I was ever in Philly again and was grabbing a pizza I would most definitely order another pizza from City Tap

Good food & atmosphere

By Daniel T |

Been a few times and always been satisfied. The service is good. If you like craft beers there is a great selection. Food is fresh. I couldn't ask for more from a corner pub. I'll definitely be back.

Great service and food

By Eva T |

We stopped here for late lunch. There were only a few customers so we were served quite quickly by Brandon R (his name is on the bill), very nice, helpful guy. We both, my husband and I, ordered tomato veggie soup as a starter (USD 14) and as a main pizza The GOAT which we shared (USD 15.25) recommended by Brandon and it was delicious - made with goat cheese, onion, pistachio pesto, truffle honey and rosemary. We chose also deserts, my husband cookie smash (USD 11) and I ordered hazelnut crunch (USD 12) - both yummy. My husband had also Sierra Nevada draft beer (USD 8) and I was happy with water. We had nice chat with Brandon so we really enjoyed our visit at this restaurant. Toilets were clean.

Excellent service and selection.

By Todd M |

Really good selection of beers. Bar staff is second-to-none. Attentive, quick, and fun to interact with. Lots of good starters to munch on.

Chicken and waffle heaven

By Emma C |

I loved this place! I went there whilst on a business trip, as it was local to where I was staying. We had a bit of a wait for a table- in fact the first time I went I got one, and then the 2nd time when I went back with some colleagues it was too busy. Clearly a very popular location. The menu isn’t huge, but there are some really interesting and different options on there. We went on chicken and waffle night and I felt like I had to try them. It was certainly the right choice. Although I thought it was a little expensive for what in essence is a bar, the portion was generous, and it was delicious. The waffle was light and fluffy, and the portion of chicken was moist, juicy and freshly cooked. I wish I could have gone on the Wednesday when they had the roast suckling pig as that sounded amazing. Desserts were a little disappointing. My colleague had a milkshake, which the server said was really thick- it was pretty much the texture and consistency of milk. I had a baked cookie dough. It was somewhat burnt on the bottom, and therefore had a bit too much crunch, and not the nicest of flavours. I probably wouldn’t bother if I went there again. All in all this is a lovely city centre bar that serves good quality, freshly made food that doesn’t come out of a can, or is microwaved. Certainly one to visit.

Great selection with knowledgable staff

By Michael Z |

A late afternoon visit. We sat at the bar and selected several beers. I like sampling local beers, and they had several from Philly, and out state Pennsylvania. We were given free drink tokens for another day. We did not have dinner, but the menu was extensive.

Excellent service, food, & drinks!

By Jonathan N |

We all really enjoyed our food & some of the best mussels I’ve have! It was empty & I hope it was because we were there July 5 (holiday weekend) because this place should be packed given the food & drink! Our server (wish I could remember his name) was very attentive without being overbearing…top notch!

Great place to eat and drink beers

By Xenn F |

Went to this place for dinner and few drinks. Nice atmosphere. Our server was friendly. The food was great and the portions were kinda big. We enjoyed it.

I took my family for lunch. We ordered wings as part of our order and unfortunately the meat was pink and bloody on several of the wings in our order. Our waitress, who was very good offered to take money off the bill because of the issue with the wings. When we received our bill, $1.36 was taken off which seemed more insulting than not taking anything off the $13.75 wings. I questioned the amount taken off of the bill and our waitress said she would check with the manager. She returned with the bill again exactly the same amount as it was previously. No acknowledgment of a discussion with the manager or anything. Was not very crowded so they visit from the manager would have been a good gesture. Very disappointing experience.

Great food and atmosphere

By jamie p |

We stayed at the Embassy Hilton nd this little gem was across the street. We tried this restaurant on our first day in Philly and it was great! Had a 15 min wait on a Monday but the food was worth the wait. We shared the Abigail mussels which were so good and served with a garlic crunchy toast. I then ordered the shrimp and grits with collard greens. OMG was that good. So good we went back Thursday night and ordered the same thing. Prices were very reasonable.

Good Sunday brunch, good Sunday night beers

By Mark G |

Happened across this place when on foot, close to Logan Circle but not obvious. Eggs Benedict, omelet, and peach waffle didn't stand a chance: delicious. $5 Bloody Mary tasty. Jazz/R&B band good but a little loud. Came back Sunday night for beers: nice wall o' screens for games. Nice decor but seemingly at odds with the sports vibe. 40+ beers; what we had was excellent; would be a nice touch to spotlight the beer taps. Great location; would gladly return.

Food was great

By Dean B |

I went to the City Tap House at Logan Square for a late lunch with a colleague, arriving about 1:30 PM. The décor is nice, lots of wood but brightly lit. The main lunch crowd had pretty much come and gone by the time we arrived so there were only about 8-10 tables occupied, mainly deuces. The hostess told us it would be a 5-minute wait. Looking around, the place was a mess. Almost every unoccupied table was still littered with dirty glasses and plates. The barmaid was piling about 20 used glasses at the edge of the bar. The hostess disappeared to I-don’t-know-where. I counted at least 6 waitstaff on the floor, including just 2 just milling about. And 1 very overworked busperson. I’m not sure why the floor manager (who I never saw) didn’t have everyone cleaning up the tables after what must have been a busy lunch hour. It was obvious that some of the waitstaff had already left right after lunch because there were a few set tables, but we weren’t seated at one of them. Eventually, the hostess returned, and we were seated at a booth overlooking the bar area. Aside from the initial impression (chalk that up to poor procedures), our lunch was pleasant. I had the shaved roast pork sandwich, which was excellent with the crunchy garlic broccolini (only flaw – the broccoli could have been chopped smaller). The waitress was prompt and kept our water glasses filled (a relief since the day outside was quite muggy and we had already walked a few blocks). There were quite a few items on the menu I’d like to try, perhaps on my next trip to Philly.

Noisy and energetic

By Joan C |

Went there for dinner. Place was packed with people gathering for Happy Hour, so the noise level was quite high. Service was prompt . Food was solid but not outstanding.

Beer Heaven, plus great food.

By TirreniaMike |

How did we ever miss this place? We come to Philadelphia two or more times a year for a quick getaway from our northern NJ home. We stay at the Sheraton on 17th St., using their Thursday-Sunday "pay your age" rate. Look it up if you're over 50. (At 67, I save a bundle!) Anyway, this time I checked on a local app for places to eat near the hotel and City Tap House came up. It's terrific! More so if your server is Dakota! She is Great! And deserves a raise! (No, we're not related.) Food is A-1, a beer menu to die for, and regular drinks are well-made. Try it - you'll love it!

Great vibe and brews

By mpc1723 |

Founder's All Day IPA and a Flying Dog and a Prosciutto and Fig pizza. This place has such a great vibe, we wanted to hang out all day and just take it in. The service was spot on and the pizza was phenomenal. A must stop when in the area, or Nashville and DC where they are also there to enjoy. Thanks!

Beer Drinkers Paradise

By StatenIslandGuy50 |

Great beer selection, mussels and pizza were delicious. 2 minute walk from several hotels. great sports bar set up.

John is the Best!

By floridagirl125 |

We were in town for a conference, and were staying next store to City Tap. The entire staff, especially John, were so accommodating and helpful the entire time. They took the time to chat with us, and even indulged us with all the beer tastings we wanted until we made our best selection. Would recommend this to anyone in the area!

Lunch with a large group

By Renata B |

I went to the restaurant with a large group of friends and all went fast and smooth. Staff was friendly and service was fast. We shared some appetizers, incluiding one with tuna, that was very good. I had a mac and cheese with blue crab, that was really tasty.

Distinctly average!

By Sophie A |

Picked this place based on apparent jiffy ratings - food was ok - burgers much like anywhere else. Service was lacklustre and humourless - disappointing.

Informal settings, good brunch food

By travelbelle88 |

Good selection of breakfast and lunch dishes, but not dinner selections. Maybe dinner menu will come out later in the day. Service was excellent. Seating comfortable. Food was tasty- good veggie burger and very nice fries. Noise level moderate.

Great restaurant close to museums

By Beth C |

Fairly large restaurant...huge tv screens. May be a bit noisy for some, but we did not mind. The service was great. Knowledgeable, friendly, staff. Quick service. Food was absolutely delicious. Varied menu with some different types of food.

Bone Marrow With A Bourbon Luge

By Enzio007 |

Came here for Philly Beer week and really liked the food menu. Beer menu was really good as well! Saw the roasted bone marrow and had to try, so good and decadent. Then the server explained that you can do a bourban/whiskey luge, a shot poured down the inner bone, how much fun and tasty! Don't ask how many calories bone marrow is, just enjoy that it is scrum-diddly-umptious!

Great Food, Excellent Service

By MLM |

We stumbled on the City Tap House after leaving the Marvel exhibit at the Franklin Institute, very close to many Philly attractions so a good place to put on your list when in the Logan Square area. They said it would take 30 min to seat but we had a table in 5 at about 6:30pm. Our waiter was the best we've had in the city, knew the food & was willing to answer any questions we had. We followed his suggestions and the food was delicious! He checked on us constantly and gave us some suggestions on what to do with the rest of our time in Philly. All in all we'd go back any time we're back in the city. The happy hour crowd was thick so I assume this is a popular place for the locals to hit after work so maybe time your trip around that to get a table more quickly.

Good beer & good food

By SayCheez87 |

The beer selection was quite good and the server was knowledgeable about beer. The menu was eclectic, which can sometimes mean that the kitchen has extended itself too far, but all 5 of us ordered something different and everyone was pleased with the meals.

Brunch of Thrones is an event not to be missed!

By momteach |

Great time with fellow Game of Thrones lovers. Loved the GOT beers and special themed food! Great location and parking near by!

HUGE selection of tap beers but food only so-so

By rustyshackleford50 |

I stayed nearby and ended up here because a jet-lagged colleague declared he needed beer or he was going to fall asleep too early. It was Monday night and their nightly special was my beloved Allagash White, a beer that isn't always easy to find on tap outside the Northeast. All 3 of us agreed the food was not bad, but not great. I had the ribs, and they were tender and tasted good. Colleagues had the burger and steak. I should have listened to my colleague who had the burger because I ordered it when I ended up here again 2 nights later. It wasn't very flavorful and was pretty dry (and I did not order it well-done). But I had Allagash again, and that made me happy. The place has lots of TVs and service was very good on both visits. I just wish the food were a little better.

Private event celebration: okay

By Charley44 |

Superb service; excellent brew choices. Food: mediocre bar food. Staff was excellent, friendly, helpful, prompt in setting up the buffet for our celebration. We'll probably return to see if the buffet experience is typical.

not bad...

By Paul |

Wife and I was looking for a place near by to relax for a long day. We were seated quickly; friendly staff. We had to ask for our server; no one came to our table? Our server seemed alittle over whelmed. No menu for the beers.... had ask for things again. The good part was the food. Tap burger was very good. Crab cakes were also tasty

Good Burger

By peterkM7851EF |

Me and the GF wanted a quick bite to eat. This place was highly recommended for its burgers. Burgers were nice and juicey. The fries were the way I like, nice and thin. Would recommend. Service was kind of slow

Great Food Great Beer

By pmshea1 |

Typical sports bar atmosphere with really good food. Just a short walk for the Logan Hilton. you will not go wrong picking this as a dinner or lunch destination

Oh god, the beers!

By NiteshB_SH |

The problem with this place is that once you go there, you cannot resist a second visit. Or a third. Or pretty much every night. Wonderful array of beers and a chirpy friendly staff.

Amazing Brussels sprouts and pimento cheese!

By BR_MD |

Great draft beer selections specializing in PA breweries. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and pimento cheese appetizers! They were some of the best I've ever had.

a good alternative when staying at the Logan.

By rjgrp |

sports bar with good food and many screens. the burger was excellent... served trendy chicken and waffles.

Drinks with the family

By greg n |

Loved the beer selection and our bartender was on point! We had a bunch of drinks here before dinner and we will be coming back the next time we are in the area to try the food.

More than just a sports bar

By RL1952 |

A little loud. A little boisterous. But a nice place for a craft beer or two and good food. The staff was friendly and gave us good advice on food and beer. Worth a stop for lunch or dinner.

Great place to watch NFL football

By Newmania |

We went to City Tap to watch the Miami Dolphins play last Sunday. Our afternoon was great. Bridget, the host, seated us at a booth close to a tv and away from the middle of the restaurant. Crystal, our server, was friendly, knowledgeable, and guided my husband to create a flight of beers from their massive list. My cocktails were generously poured. The pretzel appetizer was delicious, served warm with spicy pimento cheese dip and a tangy mustard bourbon dip. The beer and goat cheese salad did not have any beets in it but that was the only issue we had with food. We went back the next afternoon to get to go food and had a great conversation with Conner, a bartender on duty. The staff made sure our tv had the correct game and close captioning. Restrooms were clean and plentiful.

July 4th in Philly

By Doug F |

Needed a bite to eat prior to the fireworks at the Art Museum. Heard of City Tap House, decided this would be a good stop tonight. Great atmosphere large beer list. And full bar of libations to choose from. The wife had her usual Malibu bay breeze and I tried one of the specialty drink the Honeysuckle Mule, I could have drank this all night, very nice for a hot day. The simple salad was good, the Pancho mussels are very good ( save the spicy bread for the end and get all of the good stuff at the bottom of the bowl) and the service was excellent they all work together. Now the pizza was not as I expected. The Abe Froman, if you know the reference you will understand my comment. This was the Chicago Sausage Peasant of a pizza, one thimble sizes piece of sausage per slice. REALLY? I will return in the future but not for pizza. I hope the ciopinno night lives up to the expectation as well as the chicken and waffles night. Who ever was choosing the music being played they get A 5review!!

great burger

By aremk |

Visited on a crowded Saturday night during the Villanova game. But even as crowded as it was, service was great and the crowed was fun. The burger was one of the best I've had in a long time. So great.

Great beer variety and pizza

By Dan P |

We had 45 minutes to catch a quick meal before heading out to the airport and this restaurant was in the lobby of the office building where we had a business meeting. It was very crowded with live music but they sat us right away and we ordered two pizzas. The beer menu was well written and explained in great deal each beer in groups that narrowed your choices. The pizza was bar size about 12 inches and we had a pepperoni and a margherita which were both excellent. The server knew we were in a rush and expedited everything so we could catch our flight.

watched the NBA finals there

By Nels B E |

Great bar food, friendly bartender, TV decent for sports viewing, 2 floors, also family friendly downstairs. Great beer selection.

Lots of beer and lots of noise

By GKBrash |

Went to the City Tap House at 2 Logan Square. Am in Philadelphia on business and was meeting a co-worker from our Philly office for a drink and dinner. I met her there at about 6:30 on a Tuesday night. I was able to get two seats at the bar when I arrived. She arrived a few minutes later. After some chit chat we decided to order drinks and dinner. According to their menu they have 39 beers on their draft list. They advertise themselves as a craft beer bar, but I don't believe that they brew all of the craft beers. They have beers from CA, MN, VA, NY, ME, MA, Germany, MI, CO and of course PA. So if you are coming here to have 39 craft beers that were brewed on site you may be a little disappointed. Their dinner menu has options that range from oysters and mussels, Korean short rib tacos, ten spice wings, Blue crab Mac & Cheese to name a few. They also have "Plates" or as I would say entrees, that range from chicken, pork chops, salmon, shrimp & grits, crab cakes, Ahi tuna, ribeye steak frites, short rib fried rice and burgers. They also have salads and brick oven pizzas. To round out the menu they have a "Daily Supper" menu for each night of the week, except Sunday. For example Tuesday is Chicken and Waffles night, Thursday is Shepherd's Pie night. For dinner I had the Mizo Glazed Salmon. It came with asparagus and a mixture of rice, english peas and carrots. It was a good sized portion of salmon and rice. The salmon was grilled and salmon is tough to cook. The salmon was good but it was just a little dry. Probably could have come off the grill about a minute earlier. As I mentioned earlier we sat at the bar. There is literally a wall of TV screens behind the bar. Why we were there they had four different programs on using various sizes on the "wall" of screens. Also they play a variety of music which was quite loud which made conversation a bit hard at times. It a large place so you can go there with large groups. Since it is in the city parking is at a premium. There is a parking garage right around the corner. After 4pm it costs $12.00 and that rate is good up until 12 midnight. City Tap House is good, but there are other craft beer locations that I would try before I go back.

Meh. There are better options in Philly

By Steve P |

Next to no one inside, and yet couldn't accommodate 2 people at 4:00 on a Wednesday. Hard pass. There are better options in Philly.

Great Beers

By LuvDaSun222 |

Often crowded you are best to make a reservation just to ensure you can get in. Decent food and good beer selection. Great place to go with a small business group or friends. Don't know if I'd bring the small ones here.

Good atmosphere.

By Ron T |

Good atmosphere. Just went for drinks. Marginal service. A bit pricey for drinks. Good seating. Good bourbon list.

Really Wonderful!!

By Mamapez |

Took the grandchildren for dinner here, they loved it and so did we. They both ordered the chicken fingers the adult sized plate was FILLED with fingers and fries for $10. I ordered a flatbread pizza, beautifully charred from a wood burning oven. It was 15 inches of spectacular with a goat cheese spread, pistachios and truffled honey. My husband had a round pizza with ham and figs which he loved also. Our waitress was Genna, a gem of the first water. She was efficient, friendly and just a joy. Go!!!

OK For Dinner

By Georgesec |

Stopped here for dinner on a business trip. It was fairly loud, and as a business traveler on his own there was no real effort on the part of the staff to help me enjoy a nice dinner. Finally got a seat at the bar, ended up waiting quite a while to get service while couples near me were waited on. Food was very passable bar food.

Cool bar but slow service

By Missy46 |

Drinks took about 20 mins to get to us and they were out of two of the beers that we originally wanted. We ordered a margarita pizza and Abe Froman pizza. Both were overly salty and tasted like our local pizza shop—not gourmet at all. My fries were soggy with my veggie burger and my dad said the salmon was over cooked. Honestly it was disappointing for what was a very cool and hip atmosphere.

Midday Saturday family birthday meetup

By NoRegretsTravel |

A reservation in Open Table secured us a great table where we could catch up and keep an eye on Big Ten B-ball Tourny. Great craft beer choices. Everyone found a brew to try! Small plate menu is great midday with smaller prices. Genderless restroom might surprise you... fear not, closed doors floor to ceiling. atmosphere is fun but on the calm side without the craziness of a beer pub. We could chat without being loud. good for foodies. good eats. Not a great selection for families with children under twelve. Not sure about ADA access but I believe I recall an incline up to the dining level, away from the bar. Live the old city feel with contemporary touches. Great service!

Great food and service

By Edd and Cynthia |

We were looking for a place to unwind after a busy day sightseeing, and City Tap was an excellent choice. Lots of 16 oz. beers are available during Happy Hour for only $5, and select wines are $6. We enjoyed a lovely apple and gouda salad plus a perfectly cooked cheeseburger (the accompanying photo doesn't do it justice--it was HUGE!). We highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the downtown area near City Hall.

Good food and great service

By ltinbris |

Went to City Tap for a few drinks. Great service especially from Ryan who gave my husband a taste of whiskey. We had the Korean Slaw pulled pork tacos which were fantastic.

Lunch Time Visit

By Jane P |

My husband and I came for a couple of drinks which we tried a drink we hadn’t tried before called Beer Mosa. Tastes like pop so be careful. The food also was lovely and the fries spot on. We will be coming again.

Good Food, Good Service

Nice Lunch Spot!

By candace |

They have outdoor seating which is still a must for us. The server was lovely, they were super accommodating. We both had the grilled chicken sandwich that had Granny Smith apples on it, nice touch. Very delicious. Nice stop along our journey.

Great Food in a Pub Atmosphere

By ColonelBangkok |

I had several meals at the City Tap House during a stay in Philadelphia. The food is excellent and a daily special is offered and changed regularly. It has a selection of craft beers that is second to none as well as a fine selection of bourbon and other brown liquor selections. Very enjoyable.

Great beer selection, big tvs so we could watch 4 nfl games at the same time. Food was good, loved that the menu for lunch had breakfast items as well. Server was attentive.. All and all a nice experience.

Great food and quick service

By normana53 |

I stopped in for a bite and had the burger with bacon and avocado. The service was friendly and quick, despite being busy. I would recommend this place without hesitation

Great spot

By AJNNJ44 |

Recently stayed at Embassy Suites to visit the Franklin Institute. On location alone this was our choice for dinner but we were thrilled with the vibe, the service, the menu, and the beer list. What a great place. We stuck to burgers and pizza mostly but the crab & corn hush puppies app is not to be missed!

Great menu, convivial atmosphere, nice staff

By AContentedTraveller |

Great, convivial atmosphere with varied and innovative menu. The flatbreads/pizzas were great, as was the foie gras mousse (excellent) and the burrata appetizer. Very nice staff were a little disengaged at times, but overall highly recommend for a casual evening out.

We stopped for a late lunch and the food was amazing. The Korean tacos were slightly spicy but really good. The burger was AMAZING-cooked perfectly and just as we ordered it. Great place for a bite to eat while exploring the city.

Great place to watch a game and drink a few beers

By Nels E |

Simply stated there is a great variety of beers and good pub food and several TVs for viewing sports. Friendly staff, good Conrad Erie sense in there.

Great Place

By Jamie P |

We took a timeout from the Franklin Institute and went here for lunch. They have a variety of food choices. I ate the Tap House burger and it was delicious.

Good but not great

By 20_SandY_13 |

This is a large bar style restaurant. The choices are good but a step below some of the other restaurants in the city. Decent vegetarian options, but nothing special. Good beer selection. Service was good. It is a good place to go where all of the party can find something to eat, as well. Would be better to add some vegan protein option on the menus. The veggie burger was better than most.

Nice place to grab a quick lunch or noshes after work

By TravelwithLori |

Business casual atmosphere. Menu has some average bar food: wings, burgers, snacks and salads most have a unique twist to them. Like Blue Crab Mac n cheese, Avocado and Grapefruit salad. Decent beer selection and great service. Tends to be a bit loud later in the day. Call ahead for seating especially if you are bringing more than 2 people.

No room for party of one

By Chris B |

The food was pretty good and my server was great but what killed it for me was how I was treated at the door. I asked for a table but the host more said tables are reserved for parties of two or more and basically told me to go sit at the bar. I declined and then specifically requested a booth since I was being treated rudely. The host then told me to wait so she could find out what the party who arrived after me preferred. I then spoke up and asked why I had to wait because I was just a party of one. I’m sure she was only doing what management told her to do. I don’t appreciate being discriminated because I eat by myself. I travel often for work and at the end of the day I would like to sit down, relax and enjoy dinner; not get stuck at the bar. I frequent Phily often and can guarantee I will not be returning City Tap.

Tasty and plentiful food

By cacee4 |

We went during a very crowded evening and found the hostess to be very accomodating and gracious. The food is very good and very reasonable.

Very salty

By crazy4mickeyinCDA |

So there was a lot of salt in all our dishes, but we actually got used to it and did a good job of pretty much finishing our dishes. The best thing we tried were the Brussels sprouts. Biggest disappointments were the very cold bread and the not so cold beer that was more like 16oz, but sold as 20oz. Wouldn’t prob go back again.

Typical sports bar & grill

By ZonaP |

Had dinner here for work as we stayed at a nearby hotel. The place was pretty loud, so it wasn't easy to hold a conversation. Food and drinks were ok, nothing I thought was amazing or terrible. Would I come back? Probably not, unless I was in the area and want to catch a game on one of their many tv's.

Great for quick bite and a pint!

By joneo |

Great drink selection and nice pub style food. Great for sport with lots of monitors throughout. Good service.

You’ll make more money if you actually check on your tables.

By Eric H |

Great bar but service needs work. Happy hour so the bar area was full. Got a table. Server was very nice but, not attentive to empty glasses nor needs. If she was busy, I’d understand but just disappeared and the bar was slow after happy hour. Had to ask multiple times to find her. Food delivered with no silverware or plates or napkins. Solid spot. Needs better service.

OMG, The Pork Chop!

By Cruiser589597 |

Hey GF friends! This spot has a GF menu that does not disappoint! We loved the baked cheese appetizer as well as the spicy street corn dip. The Fig and Prosciutto Pizza is AMAZING, and the hubby definitely enjoyed the crab cakes (not GF). The real star here for me though is the pork chop. OMG it is incredible! It has the perfect balance of sweet from the maple, pecans and sweet potato, the salt from the brine and the bacon, it’s rounded out with the fresh crunch of the Brussels sprouts & greens and cut with a grainy mustard. You will love it! The staff and service is also top notch! This is our new fave spot!

Great service and excellent food

Much better menu offerings than we expected... who would have expected marrow bone, foie gras, bucatini, burrata in a bar? But it's more than that... the beer selections are probably the reason a lot of people come in to the place but you can find some delicious cuisine here, too. Lots of sandwich options join a really interested small plates menu. We completely enjoyed the dishes that our superb server, Brandon, recommended. Looking forward to returning on our next stay in Philadelphia.

Very cool and popular sports bar

By Jeff K |

Possibly the most crowded sports bar I have seen. I would suggest reservations. But the atmosphere is very upbeat and the food was much better than expected. Bartenders were able to make us feel like we were important even though they were incredibly busy. Very cool place to grab a beer.

Great Pub

If you are looking for comfort foods this is the place to go. Great wings, burgers, salads, Mac and cheese. Beer list is large. Wait staff exceptional. Love this place. Family friendly.

Popular Sports Bar with Good Food and Drink

By Charles S |

This is a large and very popular sports bar with the usual big screen TVs everywhere. The drinks are very good (range of beers, margaritas, etc.). We especially recommend the salmon. Only drawback is the noise level — great if you are rooting for your team (the 76ers were playing the night we were there) but a place where it is difficult to hold a conversation above the din.

Good food/service

We stopped in for dinner after a day of touring. Nice atmosphere. Enjoyed cocktails. We tried the pizza which was thin crust and delicious. We split a pizza and each had a salad. It was a filling meal. Server was helpful, efficient and cheerful.

Don't go

By Paul K |

Our nite was ruined when after discussing a gluten sensitivity and our need to remove croutons the waitress decided to add breaded shallots and did not think that was a problem. So we sent salad back and waited for new one. After more than 20 minutes no salad? They did not seem to think it important. So all find niches their meal and we cancelled salad. All made worse by the manager who provided a 6 dollar discount for ruining our nite out. Not equivalent. Just stay away and go to a restaurant that understands allergies and have managers that know how to make things right. City tap failed miserably.

Really fun and tasty experience, awesome for large groups!

It doesn't happen everyday -- you have 18 hungry and thirsty friends, and you need a place to eat & drink fast, then you instantly get seated and served! While I trust we were lucky, our group enjoyed the awesome community table right at the bar -- wow! I enjoyed the fried chicken biscuit and subbed out the potatoes for the collard greens -- as a boy from the South, this was as authentic as it gets! Kudos for the perfect and fresh tastes! Also big kudos for the awesome beer selection, quick, friendly and fun service and great vibes!
