Wow, that's incredible!

By Antony P |

Excellent food. Menu was never a restriction. We were given choice. It was a family dinner we our family friend from NYC and they fell in love with the food. The ambience, ever smiling staff. And that was the best dinner

Lovely breakfast spot

By anna h |

Attentive staff, lovely food, quiet and welcoming. This was the best breakfast place I visited- perfect for an early meeting.

I truly loved this place ...Amazing Service

By Travelling Hiker |

Went there with a friend for the pre-theater dinner before going to watch Hamilton. Great Value for money. The staff was unbelievable ! they gave us the best table with the best view. The food was fantastic and the ambiance was superb. It has become one of "my places' in NYC.

Service with a smile from Randolph!

By LFB_99 |

We popped into The Clement seeking refuge from a suddenly very chilly New York November day and Randolph greeted us with a huge smile and a warm welcome. This is a lovely bar, tucked away just above Fifth Ave / 55th. The atmosphere is cosy, elegant and romantic. The staff (especially Randolph!) were all friendly and helpful. The wine list is extensive and the bar snacks are the best we came across in New York (the marinated olives are delightful). This place will be high on our list when we next return to NYC. Try it, you won't be disappointed!

Better than expected

By Wesbriel |

We had dinner here on a weekend night. Restaurant ambience was quiet and peaceful. We ordered lots of dishes and every dish was cooked to perfection, very generous portions too. Service was excellent.

Perfect Breakfast

By JazzyMom1 |

The food was wonderful. Nice selection. Expensive but worth it. Quiet atmosphere perfect for conversation. The waiter was very patient as we stayed 3 hours!

Nice Cocktails

By EddieRidgeon |

Great cocktails, nice atmosphere and attentive staff but ridiculous prices - but I guess that's New York.

Chic as Ever

By Chilli-Bite |

I had s solo dinner here on my current trip to New York as I never leave the big apple without paying my respects to this lovely resturant on 5th Street. I ordered the full tasting menu and it was really delicious as ever. I think the food portions were rather too generous this time though and I was not able to enjoy my last meal as I was already too stuffed up. The fish was just to die for. It melted in my mouth ans loved it most. This is one chic resturant you can't afford to miss when in New York. Must make a booking though as it is quite popular. It is the place to treat yourself to an awesome classy meal when in New York, either for business or pleasure.

St Clement's bar drinks

By Danny D |

Saw the lovely external Christmas decorations at the Peninsula, so decided to pop in for a few drinks. The description stated a 5 star hotel renowned for its service and attention to detail... I can't comment on the boarding side or the hotel, but the service I received at the bar was nothing short of disgraceful. My waiter spilt water on my wife and walked away mid order. It seems as we were considerably younger than other guests that we were not deemed worthy of his attention. The thing about great service is it has to be every time. Not sometimes, not most of the time, every time. Will not be coming back here for anything seeing as a simple drink was so badly managed.

Amazing

By Thomas L |

Had the best dinner here. The staff was amazing. The waiters were right on spot at every second. The wine sommelier Jared had amazing knowledge and took his time to help us understand a little about each of the wines he personally picked for us. The service was exactly what you'd expect from the Peninsula.

Escellent food & Service!

By Michael A |

Having had a late lunch and wanting a light dinner before the theater, Clement hit it out of the park! Food was extraordinary! Lobster bisque was so good I wanted to swim in it! Brought out a beautiful dessert for my wife's birthday … and super tasty too! Great staff and ambiance!

delicious food with friendly and attentive staff

By Cam3r0ns |

Had some delicious breakfasts at the clement, during our stay at the Peninsula hotel, New York. The eggs Benedict being a particular favourite of ours, as was the delicious mixed fruit salad. Staff welcoming, polite and attentive. Couldn't do enough for you. Service quick.

Great place to eat!

By NorthStar732872 |

Veery relaxed environment. Good choice of food on the menu and the food is delicious. Would recommend anyone to visit there!.

Stunning Christmas lunch

By Anwil51 |

We booked months ago to have a family Christmas lunch at Clement and were rewarded with an amazing memorable experience. The Christmas decoration in the whole hotel was fantastic and the food, service and wines were of the very highest standard. The menu selection was just right - plenty of seafood and other selections form the starter buffet, an excellent range of choices for main course then the most amazing desert buffet to finish. Staff were very efficient and super friendly.

Just too expensive

By brewertraveler |

Had an $80 breakfast here and it just isn't that good. Yes, if you can afford the Peninsula..... Still.....

Rude servers, very uninviting

By kendal2012 |

My husband and I visited this bar last month while vacationing in NYC. The waiters were very unwelcoming from the beginning, and acted like it was a bother to have customers. We went during the afternoon, when there were only two other tables of guests dining. Once seated, they kept asking if we were ready to order before even allowing us time to look at the menu. We had looked at the menu online prior to coming to the bar and specifically wanted a couple of the appetizer dishes it showed. The menu in the bar was different, so we asked the waiter if the dished from the online menu were available. He scoffed at us and said no, then walked away. Our entire experience here was negative, and we felt as though the waiters were very rude and short with us, and acted like it was an inconvenience to serve our table. I would advise management to keep a closer eye on your employees and the way they treat guests. We will not be coming back.

A sweet oasis of peace and good food

By pieroinusa |

I loved watching through the big window the always hectic tide in the City and enjoying a quiet, relaxing, welcoming, dim lights and elegant restaurant. A real oasis in the middle of the City. Impeccable service, great decor, a simple but nicely prepared menu, good wines, all of it makes for a nice, relaxing experience. Being it a work lunch or a romantic moment, this is a place to Hyde from the City frenzy. Salad with avocado was pricey, but good. Chicken with mushroom was excellent. If you are looking for a quiet moment in the Coty, this is a place you will want to try

Romantic dinner

By hans k |

The restaurant is elegantly furnished and has generous sized tables. The menu offers a good variety of seasonal dishes, my wife had very nice sea bass where else I opted for the rack of lamb, cooked to perfection.

Thanksgiving Buffet - Have it all

By Robert P N |

We shared our Thanksgiving Day with the Peninsula and had the buffet at Clement. Our kids were not as happy as we were with oysters, caviar, smoked salmons, roast beef and turkey. So the chef made them pizza, pasta, and chicken fingers. They loved it. The service was great and the food was excellent. I would go back again.

Acceptable but not memorable

By TripsterJoe |

Clement is located on the mezzanine level of The Peninsula Hotel. Upon arrival we were immediately welcome and escorted to our table. The restaurant space is unimpressive and the staff lacked an attention to detail. One doesn't expect to see used plates stacked waiting for removal or have a side order completely forgotten. The quality of the food was good.

Attention to detail

By jeanniemu |

We ate three meals with our teenage sons. The wait staff were there when we wanted them to be and yet gave us privacy. When my son spilled his orange juice, they did not blink an eye. They reseated him and the mess was gone in a flash. Food was amazing. Expensive but worth it.

A Secret on Fifth Avenue, NYC

By 347RobertL347 |

Recently, my wife and I had our anniversary dinner at the Clement. What a marvelous find! The restaurant was really beautiful and having a table that overlooked 5th Ave. was just great. But the best thing about it was the food. My wife had the Octopus appetizer and the Lobster Risotto. She loved them both, and kept saying after each bite how good it was. I'm an not a fan of Risotto but I tried it. Like Mikey in the old TV commercials, I liked it too! I had the Slow Cooked Chicken. It was done perfectly. And the desserts . . . they were excellent +. We ordered the roasted pear and the pumpkin pie. Both beautifully done, especially the pie because it was heavy on the nutmeg and I like nutmeg. They also gave us a 3rd dessert for our special day, chocolate cake with a mousse like cream inside. Most excellent! We usually share one dessert when we eat out, but yesterday, we finished all 3. The service was just as excellent as the food. Everyone was really attentive without being overbearing. The Clement is going to be our new let's celebrate something by going to a special restaurant. It is pricy - but you get what you pay for and the Clement delivers on all counts.

delicious, unique

By 3vickih |

the clement was quite a treat the ambiance was first class, the food selections was quaint but everything quite delicious. you could tell that everyone in the restaurant was enjoying their time and food

Quintessential Power Breakfast Spot

By mtjllc |

Ive been coming here for over 20 years. It still is the place for the power breakfast. Movers and shakers abound at this high end place. Disconnect yourself from rationalizing prices. A simple black coffee here makes the most ornate Starbucks drink look like a bargain...but, then that's not why you come to this place. The service is excellent and the waitstaff is well trained on showing up at just the right time - rarely if ever in the middle of a business conversation. The food is beautifully prepared but again, plan on breakfast for two running $100+ for two. If you can't swallow that, then hit one of the several diners in the area where you can be in and out for less than $40.

Whether in the bar or the dining room - can't go wrong.

By BayHeadTravelinBear |

At lunch we like the bar. Very nice cheese board and sliders. For dinner the dining room will please you. It is a lovely, more formal atmosphere than the bar. Both are great.

Lovely dinner, great service, excellent food.

By D M |

We went to Clement before an event and were very pleased with the whole experience. The ambiance is calm and elegant, but not stuffy. The wait staff was excellent, accommodating and not pushy. They helped us choose items that would work best in our time frame and made changes to allow for food allergies. The food was delicious and though it wasn't the leisurely dinner we will have next time we go there, it was a great experience. Kudos!

Clément at Peninsula- NYC

By CNYC13 |

Amazing experience! Went there to celebrate our birthdays. Love the ambience. Crab cake - the best I ever had . The lamb dish was cooked to perfection. The soufflé and sorbet: so yummy. Service: the best . I can’t wait to go back.

One of my favorite restaurants in New York City

By Yan S |

We were so happily surprised by this gem in the city! My husband booked the brunch at this restaurant for my birthday (he also booked Le Cirque for my birthday dinner, by comparison Le Cirque truly sucked! ) The moment when my husband mentioned his name, the hostess took us to the best window seat in the restaurant, ( hubby mentioned the brunch was for my birthday and didn't request anything.) First sweet surprise! The service was amazing! We have been to so many fine dining around the world, and still was amazed by the service at Clement. Second sweet surprise, Michelle Pfeiffer with her friend were sitting right behind me! Third sweet surprise, they brought a small birthday cake for me!! And didn't charge us anything. ( other restaurants charged us before for birthday cakes.) Fourth sweet surprise, when we got our check, the manager came out, wished me happy birthday, and presented me with a Peninsula gift! (Clement is inside Peninsula Hotel.) As mentioned before, my hubby booked Le Cirque for the same day dinner and mentioned my birthday, Le Cirque did NOT do anything and the service was much worse than Clement. Strongly recommend Clement and will definitely go back again and again!

Breakfast, lunch or dinner.

By Leon D |

Delicious for every meal of the day. Great service. Many healthy options, excellent wine list with reasonable markup compared to others in NY

Great Food, Snobish Service and Cold Atmosphere

By Travel Ameniti |

We went for the brunch on a Saturday at 1:30PM and the place was basically empty (about 4-5 tables occupied). The food was well presented and delicious. However, the steep price is not justified and it is not a real brunch. Service tends to be a bit snobish. One of the tables had such a noisy party. 3 people producing the decibels of a bar. Unpleasant experience listening to all the profanities from the other table. Completely disrespectful!

Great experience

By JEV23 |

We went to Clement for lunch on a Monday. The service was attentive and professional as expected from such high-end restaurant. The food was very tasty and the different flavour combinations complimented each other quite nicely.

Highlight of Brunch - Bacon!

By 347RobertL347 |

Have been to Clement several times for lunch and dinner. It has always provided excellent food and service. This time, we went for Brunch. This was equal to our other experiences. The Eggs Benedict were very good. I had it with the smoked salmon, which was a generous portion and excellent. My wife had a trio - waffle, french toast, and pancake all on the same plate. It was difficult to tell which one was the best - they were all just delicious. I also had a side order of their applewood-smoked bacon. Cooked just right, it was exceptionally good and I suggest a must order with whatever you select. Being part of the Peninsula Hotel, the price with tax and tip was expensive. But if you'd like to treat yourself, this is a wonderful way to start a weekend in NYC.

OK if it is free - maybe

By Lance H |

We ate breakfast here a few times with a breakfast included plan. The food was fine - actually is was very good. However, the service reminded me of a Denny's. I expected a certain level of service at the prices paid. This morning we were asked only once if everything was OK, and that was immediately after the food was delivered before we had a chance to really know if everything was OK. I never got the water I asked for when seated until I asked again when I got my check. To be clear, our server never spoke to us after our order other than that brief question as he passed by not stopping. Here's the thing that really bugged me, We ordered oatmeal and pancakes - they brought oatmeal and fruit and pancakes and fruit. That's an additional eight dollars. I wasn't too concerned since our breakfast was included. However, upon checkout I realized that we only got a $50 credit per person. So our $142 breakfast for two cost us $42. I was in a hurry to get to the airport so I didn't deal with it. It's my own fault for not speaking up when it happened. It's annoying to pay $20 for a bowl of oatmeal and then another $4 for fruit you didn't want. However, it is a good way to get your automatic gratuity up, especially when you don't other to provide real service. Our service at the other times was barely adequate, nothing to complain about but not up to the prices paid. You get two stars for good food.

Nice setting, flavours lacking

By OliDobbs |

I was invited to lunch here and the service/surroundings created a nice atmosphere. However, the menu was a little uninspiring and though my lobster risotto was good, it could have done with a little more flavour.

A Very Good, Somewhat Over-Priced Brunch

By Christopher M |

Clement is a serene and elegant place to have brunch in NYC's Theater District. Service is very good, the menu has a number of high-quality, seasonal dishes, and the views of the street below from the large windows offer a great vantage point for people-watching. Unfortunately, the bill will match the upscale experience, and for what you get, Clement is a bit over-priced. That being said, it's still a great option for brunch if you're in the area.

Pre-theater menu is a bit limited, but food quality isn't!

By lovemypup |

I was staying at the hotel, so decided to take advantage of their pre-theater dinner which included a shuttle down to the theater district. In looking over the original promotion I thought there were a lot more options, but upon arriving to the restaurant there were only 2 items to choose from, neither of which really appealed to me. So, I ended up ordering from the main menu, which was a bit more money, but which was exceptional. I ordered the striploin - it was absolutely delicious. Be warned - it was A LOT of food - could easily have been shared, and I was unable to finish it. I also received a complimentary dessert - a wonderful tropical dessert that was very refreshing. The service was outstanding - I was only drinking water, and they were constantly refilling my glass, which is always appreciated. The only negative is that even though the restaurant was mostly empty because of the early hour, they seated the different parties who were there right next to each other. When there is room to spread out, it would have been nice not to have to listen to the conversations at the next table. Sadly, I didn't take advantage of breakfast, brunch or lunch here - but the dinner I had was certainly good enough to return!

Now this is what a five star restaurant should be!

By j b |

Last evening our party of four had a wonderful experience at The Clement! The service provided by Marco and his staff was exceptional, courses served with perfection and wine (beverages) to match. The food was prepared with such care, my octopus appetizer was exceptional as was my partners scallops. Kudos to the "chef du mason", well done! We will be back.

Delicious Dinner

By RBD930 |

Enjoyed dinner before a show. We enjoyed the lobster bisque, roasted chicken, salmon, and cheesecake off the regular menu. Everything was delicious, and the service was friendly and very good. The cocktails and wine were also very good! Would not hesitate to come back. Sadly, during this stay at the Peninsula we did not have the opportunity to have breakfast, but we have fond memories of their breakfast service as well.

Simply tasty

By Daniel F |

Potatoe soup was awesome! Bolognese, yea!! Service was attentive but not annoying. Quiet, which allowed high quality conversations with friends. Glass wine list was acceptable but not great.

Truly amazing experience

By Kelly H |

This is a very elegant and cozy restaurant. Perfect place to take your important guests. All the dishes are tasty and nicely presented. I am most amazed by pastry chef Richard’s creation. He came out to explain all the beautiful pastry that he made. It was truly an amazing experience and lifetime memory.

Happy Brunch

By Joey85244 |

Great spot on 5th Ave. Good food, good menu, Super friendly staffs. Attentive and attention to details. Comfy setting.

A wonderful lunch venue

By NewYorkCityVictor |

When looking for a quiet lunch place I often head to Clement. So many restaurants in town these days are not conducive to delicate negotiations... in fact, I have my preferred nook table here which makes things even quieter. The food is very acceptable with the "fish of the day" usually being the best choice, and the service discrete rather than pseudo friendly...something I prefer. One practice though which bothers me somewhat is presenting the bill before requested, but that seems generally a deplorable NYC practice. In all the years I have been coming here , I only ventured to dine here once in the evening and that was nearly ruined by some carousing music emanating from the bar. However, when I asked to be moved to the rear of the restaurant, the maître d' seemed happy to oblige. By the way, I'm told that Clement is also a favorite power breakfast spot, but either I'm not in the power league or prefer to start my day elsewhere....like the Regency or Michael's..

Outstanding Dining Experience

By Stuart K |

Unexpectedly outstanding dinner experience in the landmark Peninsula Hotel, just a few blocks form Rockefeller Center and Central Park. The service staff was perfectly attentive in a friendly way, not overbearing, and not snooty. Menu choices were curated to a relatively short list of eclectic choices, including vegan options. Food was outstanding including a rare perfectly prepared soufflé for dessert. Wines selection was excellent but on the expensive side. Overall, good value for the midtown Manhattan location and we will plan to return for special occasions.

Beautiful setting, good food

By Lisa T |

I had dinner with friends there - it was my first visit, but they are "regulars." The food was very good and the service was excellent. The waiter recommended the perfect wine to go with my duck breast (which was very good). The dining room was lovely and quiet so we could easily chat. The background music, however, was not fitting the setting - it was top ten teeny bopper music which I found distracting.

Very good food, good service but service was a bit slow; food not stellar but solidly good

By BayAreaLawyer |

Dined here with business colleague on weeknight. The food was very good, a solid effort. I had the lentil soup, which was just OK. I also had the chicken and it was moist and accompanied by delicious mushrooms and excellent gnocchi. My colleague enjoyed the beef but thought it was good, but not stellar. We had crepes suzette for dessert - very good. The service staff gave us small bites for free of some additional little things like chocolates. I think you need to tell the wait staff if you want to hurry it up, because while the service was excellent, the meal took two full hours, which is probably delightful to many diners who don't want to feel rushed, for us seemed a bit slow.

Incredible Pre fixe meal.

By 112traveler47 |

The Peninsula is right across the street from the St. Regis and has an incredible restaurant plus a world class spa. The estheticians are the best I've ever experienced and they carry wonderful products.

Food and Service were Outstanding

By liza23star |

We ate dinner two nights and breakfast two mornings. The food was excellent and the service was outstanding. The menu is creative and prepared exactly as ordered.

Great stylish venue for breakfast. Excellent service and food. A good way to start the day.

By Trevor B |

We chose to have breakfast at the Clement restaurant. Stylish decor with ample space to be separated from other diners. The service was exactly as you would expect it to be. Professional and efficient. The menu offered a good selection. Prices were as you would expect in an establishment of this standard. Six of us were dining and we all enjoyed the food we selected. An enjoyable dining experience and a great way to start the day.

Warm and Attentive Staff

By Pentepedia |

We came for breakfast and we witnessed several tables arrive that were greeted as if long lost friends. A feel good place to eat with an aura of sophistication. Oh yes, the food was fantastic. Excellent Eggs Benedict and delicious Huevos rancheros. You don't mind paying extra when you receive this type of pampering and attention

Spectacular

By bonsue90 |

The dinner here is something special. Set in a beautiful hotel on 5th Avenue with soothing calm decor. The meals we experienced were ink infused pasta seafood, ceviche, and lamb. I just don't know how it could have been any better. If you are lucky enough to get Marco as your server, you have reached the pinnacle. Make this your special place or a special treat. Life is too short not to experience this!

Good chic - old and modern times

By JWNewYorkCity |

I have dined and wined at the Peninsula Hotel on 5th Avenue for decades. The staff are members of an extended family for as long as I can remember. Dining recently at Clement, a seasonal contemporary American menu awaits you and it doesn't disappoint. I had a pasta dish with SfoGlini pasta, home made in Brooklyn. Simply delicious and well seasoned. The locally sourced ingredients add to the allover dining experience. Who says that hotel dining is nothing to write home about?

Nice location, memorable price for unmemorable food

By Zak Merz |

The only good things that go for the Clement are its location and the cozy style of its interior. Aside from that, the service was below average, and paying over $75 incl. tax and tip for your average American breakfast meal (two eggs + two bacon slices + one coffee) with a side of avocado (half one mind you) felt outrageously expensive… Definitely not worth the trip.

Friendly, welcoming and grand…. Restaurant Week special !!

By Alok Jolly |

This classic establishment is located in the upper level of the Forbes Five Star-rated Peninsula NY Hotel lobby, in Mid-town, NYC ~ just walk on up ..and they’re there to welcome you as an honored guest (since 2013) and do the whatever to please you ~~ and for a price, of course ! Wedding Anniversary dinner… they asked when we made the reservation a few weeks earlier, if this was a special occasion, and made a note to do a little special thing for us at the end of the meal …VERY NICE !! and Thank you, all !!! So, on a hot July evening, enter through the hotel lobby and escape the realities of the times in America. The large space offers views of the street and also 5th Avenue below through enormous arched windows, and private nooks for a more private experience on the other. The décor is luxuriant and very pleasant: each room has its own unique style and décor, with low lighting, parquet flooring, carpets, long drapes, luxurious wallpapers, art deco panels and soft furnishings that keep the atmosphere a subdued but grand calm, almost like being in a private home. The sublime ambiance allows one to fully experience one’s evening in luxury and comfort, without being drowned out by the neighboring tables. Price are in the low- to mid-stratosphere: appetizers are $16 to $23 and mains are $24 to $65, while the sides are $12 (all..) ! Desserts ? - $15. And drinks ? Fuhggeddaboudit !! Not the everyday dinner, but the preparations here are possibly worth the price. Clement also offers several pairings and set combinations, which are best left to be explored another time. We were there for a celebration, (..they asked) and were gracious enough to give us a complementary small sweet and cheese plate to mark the occasion. Thank you !! So, it was a pleasant evening: long drive to the City in the Saturday evening traffic, a struggle to find parking nearby, and then a fine dinner followed by another struggle to find where we left the car, and a long drive back to the ‘burbs. But tomorrow’s a sleep-in day…. The lobster bisque is really incredible: very lobstery and smooth, with chunks of meat, in a deep, creamy broth. And crispy octopus is a treat when well cooked, as this was: crispy edges and tender, succulent inners, with a hint of lemony-sea. For mains: Dover Sole and Rack of Lamb.. both excellent, and a fair portion per serving. Soft and easy cut on the knife, and an easy bite. Not overcooked ~ or under, as then lamb can be gamy. The portion size in both was just enough, so one isn’t stuffed or hungry after ~ and they aren’t pushing a second order afterwards. Well worth the visit.

Excellent food

By Dr0rit |

One of the best duck breasts I have ever eaten. Service was slightly over soliciting but it was compensated by the fact that the waiter kept refilling our wine glasses when we only ordered a glass.. Great ambience

great food and service

By Jenny B |

The food is very good and the setting is beautiful but what makes it stand out is the really lovely attentive service, kind and helpful without being obtrusive. We had a blast here.

Great dinner

By laur216 |

My boyfriend and I recently had dinner here while in NYC for the weekend. The atmosphere was great - modern but comfortable. We shared an order of oysters which were delicious. I had the lobster bisque and the roasted baby rack of lamb. My boyfriend had the roasted apple salad (highly recommended- the goat cheese was perfect!) and the slow braised wagyu beef bourguignon. Everything was wonderful - presentations were beautiful and the service was impeccable. Wonderful experience overall :)

Great Brunch Menu

By Lou B |

I visited Clement (At The Peninsula Hotel) during my NYC visit for a Brunch. The service was top notch, the menu was very well balanced, and the food was great. Prices are high, but the experience was rewarding for a quiet and elegant place to enjoy a long brunch.

Would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

By Henry W |

I was wearing a cap on a rainy day that we went to Clement for dinner. We were greeted by the hostess saying that "This is a 5 star hotel/restaurant so no hats allowed." I understand there is a "smart casual" dress code and everything, but I felt it was a bit rude and unwelcoming. Anyway I took off my cap and tried to enjoy my dinner with friends. Unfortunately the food was average at best. My main dish seared sea bass was a bit greasy and over-cooked, and the dessert apple cranberry tart was just alright. However it was a shock to me that we got served cold milk to go with our hot teas. Also we weren't particularly impressed with the wait staff. We were asked to pay the bill while we were still having tea, and the waiter who collected the signed bill picked it up and opened the bill presenter to see how much we tipped them right in front of us. Overall the service was sub-par and extremely disappointing for a so-called "5 star hotel/restaurant." Would NOT recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Please Don't Go To Our Favorite Restaurant!

By Richard G |

My wife and I go out regularly to restaurants in Manhattan for our date night. We have many restaurants that we love for different reasons; the food, the ambiance, the service, the location, etc.But the Clement at the Peninsula hits all of the above! The chef gives the food the right touch. He is not too heavy handed nor is he presenting you with dishes that are tasteless. He is like a great sports star, he makes it look easy. The bread is to die for! And they send these little tastes out to you of what the chef is working on. The ambiance is understated yet elegant. The service is attentive yet not intrusive. And the location is in midtown in the heart of all the designer shops that my wife and I like to look at. Writing this review will probably make you want to go to the Clement and ruin our little secret. But this is a secret that everybody who wants fine dining needs to know about.

I started king cole bar, bloody Mary's , , to Clement for dinner, then to Connerly Irish bar. Dinner at clement was excellent. Many thanks.

Excellent food AND service

By Cooke H |

Incredible service, modifying plates, creating plates for this vegan. Knowledgeable and personable service (ask for Marco) simply delicious plates. Attentive but not intrusive, explanatory but not over the top, elite but not stuffy - been there 3 times in the past 3 months.

Excellent Food and Service

By grlgrdgate |

During our stay at The Peninsula, we attempted to walk to dinner several blocks away, but it was freezing, crowded, and we couldn’t get a taxi, so we ended up back at our hotel an hour later, cold and hungry. Thank goodness Clement was able to take us for dinner. Our experience was absolutely perfect! Our server was warm, welcoming, and professional, and the food was delicious. Dinner at Clement the first night of our NYC trip was an unexpected highlight.

Chique restaurant with great service

By alwaysonthemove001 |

First time at this famous hotel. The restaurant is very nice, very classy, excellent food and the waiter who attended me was extremely nice. I had wine by the glass, and he refilled it without charging me. He also guided me through the menu choices. I enjoyed a very pleasant evening.

Dinner or breakfast you can’t go wrong.

By NPC07 |

Dinner was amazing. Staff very profesional. We arrived 10 minutes before they opened instead of turning us away they sat us and took our drink order. It’s the small details that make a difference. They knew we were there pre theater and they got us out in a timely manner. Even treated us to dessert. We enjoyed our time so much we visited for breakfast. We were seated promptly. In the mornings you have all walks of life - suits, along with families and couples. The staff is very attentive. The food is delicious whether dinner or lunch you won’t be disappointed.

Wedding meal

By saz23187059 |

We came here on Tuesday 29th March for my sisters wedding meal, and where do i start? The food was out of this world, i shared the Tuesday Lamb special with my mom, and it was to die for, cooked to perfection, the waiters/waitresses were very pleasant and looked after all of our family. They presented my sister and her husband with a beautiful cake and then bought us little sweets. Absolutely lived it here, we definitely recommend this place! Thank you from the Cole family x

Delusion

By Vanessa P |

We booked a table in this restaurant for The restaurant week. First of all they didn’t take us The restaurant week menu, but The regalar menu and when we asked it they didn’t seem so happy. The service was very poor and rude just because we were not rich customers: we heard them saying not to give us extra bread because we chose restaurant week menu. We ordered an entree (it was good but even my gradma can do that- tuna raw slices with little cubes of avocado) and, cacio e pepe: that was disgusting! Overcooked pasta (bucatini- real cacio e pepe is spaghetti), with butter and a lot of water in the plate. Where was The cacio??? Did they know What cacio is???? And they added walnut! Unbelievable! The chef needs to go to culinary school again till he will learn what cacio e pepe is and how to cook that. Never again. Waste of money!

Keep coming back to Clément

Superb atmosphere; extremely alert and accommodating staff. Does not disappoint after a handful of visits in past few months. Excellent acoustics: you can actually have some interesting conversations without straining top hear, and the waiters do not intrude unneccessarily. Definitely high end but some great savings to be had by careful selection. Also the way the pre-theater and prix fixe menus are structured makes it easy to design a reasonably-priced (for a top-notch Manhattan restaurant anyway) meal. Some good values in the wine list. Cuisine is outstanding: Espresso-braised Short Ribs, 28 Day Dry-Aged Striploin, Chopped Kale-Quinoa Salad, Lobster Risotto. The Tuna Crudo was a bit chewy. Dessert recommendations include Chocolate Cheesecake and Warm Apple Tart.

Lovely!

Had a lobster eggs Benedict breakfast. Sitting by the window, watching the DeBeers store, people strolling along Fifth Ave. quite delicious and posh, what a treat!

Excellent food and service

By Kevin C |

Enjoyed four fabulous breakfasts at Clement during our recent stay at the Peninsula New York, as well as a delicious pre-theatre dinner. The food and service were outstanding, as you'd expect from The Peninsula. Really looking forward to our next visit.

Fantsy-pants dining. Good food

By Expert Traveler |

Had a very fine lunch experience (that about broke the bank). The Peninsula Hotel is beautiful: this restaurant is very high-end. It's first class and five stars all the way. Everything about the dining experience was great, however, the food was just good. The service was top-notch with a perfectly-trained staff. The rolls were incredible. The kale salad was incredible. But, nothing made me go WOW and I would expect that at such a well-run, 5-star establishment. Maybe it's what I ordered (striped bass over asparagus), maybe I dine out too often. This would be a great pace to impress a date or a client. I recommend for the experience alone.

Thanksgiving Dinner at Clement

By Travel 'n' Tastes |

Last minute changes in our family's plans had my husband and I scurrying to make other arrangements for our Thanksgiving Dinner. An overnight at the beautiful Peninsula Hotel at 55th and 5th in the city and an early evening dinner served our purposes to a T. Clement is a large space that is deftly and beautifully designed and decorated with wood panels, brushed metals, mirrors, richly hued fabrics and leather that make it relaxed, which make it relaxed, chic and approachable, all at once. The multi coursed Thanksgiving was set up in spaces throughout the restaurant and the array of choices from salads, seafood and cheeses to dessert was vast and the preparation of each dish very well done for a buffet. We enjoyed wine pairings along with each of our courses and spent several hours over dinner. Grateful for no dishes to do nor left-overs to put away or parcel out, after. Families, couples, celebrities and out-of-owners enjoyed the sumptuous repast. Well done, Clement!

Best Breakfast!

By CatieGC |

We enjoyed the breakfast at Clement so much that we ate there twice during our trip to NYC. The avacado toast (available upon request) is to die for!! Fresh squeezed juices are wonderful. Many healthy and vegetarian options are available. Highly recommend!

oasis

By adrianloader |

If the roof top bar at the Peninsula is rammed or if you are just looking for a secluded nook with good service, great grog and nice nibbles then head for the bar at Clement. It's a quality offering in a delightful environment, and a little haven from the madding crowds. Prices match of course but, hey, you also get to enjoy being with an eclectic crowd of tipplers.

was expecting more at Brunch

By www.DinedThereSippedThat.com |

There was nothing wrong with brunch at Clement, but I was expecting a lot more from a restaurant in the 5 star and luxurious Peninsula hotel. Great spot overlooking 5th avenue, friendly service, menu was slightly limited, nice decor. I guess I wasn't impressed because I'm comparing it to Asiate in the Mandarin Oriental which is where we usually go to for brunch. Still if you're considering Clement for Brunch check it out. Great lobster club sandwich.

What a delightful brunch!!!!

By Dan K |

Spending the weekend in the city, broadway, etc...we are Long Islanders so we decided to come in for the weekend. Friday and say filled with 75-150$ mediocre lunches and dinners, all of which had much left to desire with nothing to brag about. Then we got a tip to come to the peninsula/ clement. Finally the nyc meal and environment we were looking for! Everything was spot on, done right. Lively decor, presentation, views and ambiance.. And then the food... Every bite was a clean taste. One of the best oyster presentations I've seen. Appetizers clean and lively, not hidden behind oil or other cheap nonsense. Brunch entrees were insane. My girlfriend got banana walnut pancakes that were made to perfection. Staff right on point as well. Not an issue, made the day lovely. Will not look further next time I'm in midtown, no need to. What a treat!

Asian Inspired Great Breakfast for Me

By Michael G |

Great breakfast. I love Asian food and noodles and dim sum for breakfast for me is as good as it gets. Great job.

The new Clement is excellent

By George A |

They have different rooms, for different situations and tastes, all in succession and within sight of each other. The food is excellent, as is the service, and being in the Peninsula and overlooking 5th Avenue adds to the attraction.

Wonderful Breakfast

By DowntownerLA |

Breakfast of any kind at 6:30 in the morning is always a challenge in the area. Finding a venue which allows you time and tranquility as you plan your day is truly a find. Such is Clement. Warm, genuinely friendly and accommodating wait staff and a laid-back atmosphere on my Saturday morning visit. And, as you would expect, food offerings to match.

Tasty !

I've been in this restaurant during the Restaurant Week, we enjoyed a great diner with a competent service ! I recommend it

Top class hotel. Nice restaurant

By StephenCross |

Clement is located in the hotel and therefore its pricy. Nice for breakfast and the service is good and numerous. Book in advance.

Great Views

By Randy S |

Good chard by the glass and cool people to hang with while looking at the skyline. Great location off 5th Ave.

Excelent. Great food

By Rafael S |

While at the peninsula New York hotel or if looking for a nice restaurant with great food don't forget to visit Clement. Several a La Carte entrees with some great deserts for the end. The restaurant is nicely decorated and service is very good. Expensive and worth it.

Old school luxury

By Carlos T |

Went to this place for breakfast, and I felt that I was experienced an Old-school luxury type of restaurant. The menu is very classic and they are very attentive when it comes to service.

An unheralded gem

By JB10001 |

The birthday girl and I had a STUPENDOUS 6 course tasting with wine pairings. The pace and service was perfect. The ambiance romantic. The food delectable. The wine was from less popular regions (e.g., Slovenia and Hungary) but the sommelier was most informative and the wine selections delicious. I just love this place!

Delicious

By groller2015 |

I had the Eggs Benedict with Canadian bacon, it was delicious , the presentation was breathtaking, and of course had to have Mamosa for brunch, also delicious.

Delightful lunch

By Lise_Messier |

Food was amazing with wine pairing. Good price for lunch. My only item would be the server not being so friendly, seems like we were bothering him.

Glamorous Café at the Peninsula

By HalloweenHJB |

While waiting to visit the Museum of Modern Art in New York, we stopped in for a little breakfast and coffee at the Clement. The service was extraordinary, the food was exceptional. We loved every minute of it. Pricey? Yes, but sometimes the beauty of the surroundings and the top-quality food are more than worth it.

Mediocrity with a high price tag

By Tibby1014 |

Wow, I'm very surprised they have such a high rating. We went there the night of the Women's March, where thousands of protestors filed down 5th Avenue. Being in the Peninsula while something so monumental was happening right outside, you could feel the difference in beliefs of consumers; and I wish that was the worst part. The food was mediocre beyond belief. We were given chocolates at the end of our meal, and the raspberry cheesecake chocolate was the best part of it all. The oysters I ordered should have come with a wedge of lemon and sauces to season. My risotto had a burnt flavor though it wasn’t burned. The side of mushrooms tasted like they had been sautéed with no salt, and the table bread was nothing special. Not even the butter could help it. My drink was a gingerbread cocktail that tasted nothing like gingerbread – just lots of bourbon. And I love a good bourbon, but not like this. It could have been an off night for them, but it wasn't worth the price tag. Service was subpar, and that is being nice.

Breakfast: Pretty good food, poor service.

By HAPPAH |

Breakfast here is not what you might expect if you have had a Peninsula breakfast in Asia, i.e., a spectacular buffet with an incredible variety of excellent food. It is a' la carte, with a mix of food types, all a notch above a 4-star hotel restaurant breakfast. But one should expect more than this, and not only because the cost is easily double that of the 4-star experience. The service on the other hand was simply poor by any standard. Wait staff was pleasant and professional, but seemed overburdened. We and everyone around us struggled to get their attention, one woman literally waving her arm in the air for several minutes. Another problem was a diner at a nearby table who viewed this as an acceptable place to participate in phone call via speakerphone. Staff should have politely invited him to take his call outside the dining room.

Excellent Location

By Pcsk8 |

The view over Fifth Avenue is quite serene. The staff is very accommodating to special requests due allergies even on a restaurant week menu.

Great!

By UzunCanan |

Excellent food, I tasted the most delicious lobster I've ever eaten. You can get an amazing 'slow food' in this restaurant. Highly recommended.

best brunch ever

A pleasant luch

By Jenny Papadimitriou |

We visited the Peninsula hotel, aiming for a cocktail at the roof top terrace. However, we ended at Clement restaurant for late lunch. We were a bit hesitant, once we saw the menu, but it was a very pleasant surprise! The service was excellent and the food delicious.

Excellent dark and private bar.

By LawGod2 |

Didn't eat at the restaurant but had a drink at the bar while waiting for the roof bar to open. I was pleasantly surprised it was such a small and intimate bar in a midtown hotel. Nice craft cocktails, cool velvet mini-booths. Dark and inviting decor. Quiet and exclusive feel. A nice place to pop in and disappear for a little while.

The most un-Christmassy meal of my life.

By Babyalmie |

We came here for a Christmas dinner which was billed as having a number of little extras such as Carol singers and a visit from Santa. As a fixed price meal (without a welcome drink even) at over $200 per adult) it was a huge let down. So there were Carol signers but they were outside and surrounded by tourists taking selfies. The music inside was preset nondescript Muzak. There was some random guy walking around as Santa but he skipped over whole tables repeatedly (including ours) unless waved down. If you were lucky you might get a photo with him - we saw some children getting a sweet but mine didn’t which was disappointing for them. As I mentioned, there wasn’t a welcome drink or any offer of a drink except tap water. The starter selection (from a buffet) was pretty good -although nothing except for a really inedible pumpkin soup for a vegetarian. The entrees were actually pretty good - I had the roast turkey which was very tasty if a little too meat heavy and missing something to make it less dry like a decent gravy. The desserts were quite frankly awful. I like my puddings but there was not a single thing that was even remotely appetising so I had to revert to the cheese from the starter buffet. This wasn’t great either - no crackers and the entire selection consisted of random hard cheeses - no blues, goat or other flavours. Outside of the restaurant, the one toilet available for women only had two stalls. Apart from this being completely inadequate for the number of clients, the fact that one stall was permanently being used by a succession of women all taking drugs meant the queue of mothers and children waiting to use the remaining stall stretched round the corridor. All in all a meal for three with only one drinking came to well over $1000. It was absolutely not value for money and - apart from a very depressed looking Santa - completely un-Christmassy and probably only of any I treat to anyone else wanting to take drugs on the restroom. Avoid for any special occasion.

Redone and looking better

By Bobby B |

Clement has been redone since my last visit, and it is a pleasure form the older version. Good clean crisp lines and colors. We had drinks one evening and breakfast, and both were nice and enjoyable. Have not had a dinner there but word is the food is good. Maybe next time.

Drinks at the Bar

By Meg250 |

Wow! What a great experience. We stopped in for a quick drink while shopping and were so pleased! After finishing our drinks and asking for the bill, the bartender gave us an extra "splash" of wine. Very nice!

Nice place to have lunch

By Trophy Travel Experiences |

We had lunch here while waiting for our room. Very nice atmosphere. Upscale but not intimidating. Food selection was good and wine (especially by the glass) had a lot of variety. Really enjoyed the ambiance of having lunch here.

Good food, good service.

By TheDotdog |

The striploin and Dover sole were excellent. Great menu, great service, great food and wine. That said, do NOT go up to Rooftop bar there unless you like being treated poorly by surly staff, and enjoy downright poor service and a dirty terrace.

Clement Pleases the Eye and Palate

By stardustdrive |

Dining in the Clement dining room at the Peninsula Hotel off Fifth Avenue in New York is a sumptuous experience that delights the eye and the palate. The Sidecar cocktail was very good to the last drop. Yet as tasty as the Long Island oysters were, they were very diminutive in size and fleshiness. In contrast, the Taste of Summer salad of fruits, vegetables and hazelnut vinaigrette was served in an ample portion. Both the Sea Bass and Monkfish were cooked to a superb texture that allowed the freshness to be appreciated. The 2013 Klein Constantia Sauvignon Blanc complemented the fish. Rounding out the meal were luscious apple and pear desserts. This restaurant has the refined service and elegance in the dining room to rate at least a Michelin “1” star. With a little more culinary amplitude on the menu, it can soar higher. Until then, it remains a memorable expense account dinning experience.

The hostess ruined the experience

By Athena |

I took me parents to Clement on Friday Night for dinner. We were 15 mins early, and waited until the restaurant opened. We were the second group to arrive, and the hostess took us to a table in the middle of the dining area. We asked if we could sit right next to the window as there are more than 10 tables right next to the window. She said no, those are tables for 2 guests. We saw there are two tables for 3 right next table, she said those are reserved. I said I made a reservation too. She was like but those are VIPs. We saw one table had a reserved sign on it, but the other one did not, and asked if that was also reserved. She paused and said, yes, somebody just called and told her she wanted that table. I knew she lied to me on the spot but at that moment I did not want to ask anymore. I simply took what she said as “truth” and translated to my parents to prevent them getting upset. A few minutes later, she took another guest in and told her she could choose any table she likes, either the one right next to the window (which she claimed someone called to reserve) or another one at the back). I had no complaint about the table we ended up sitting at, it was still a very good spot. Also, I would like to say there’s no bad seating overall. It’s just this one time I would like to treat my parents, and gave them a good experience. We simply politely asked if we could sit at a table when almost the entire restaurant was vacant, and there was no sign on the table. But the hostess just have to tell us that we are secondary guest, no matter if there’s a VIP reservation or not. She did not even tried to show a little bit effort to accommodate, but just no, or no after made-up excuses. The high standard of hospitality and excellence of service which the Peninsula brand carries just got lost from the way she treated us. Or she just learned to classify guests, and decided who would get better service. Hopefully she would get more training. Luckily, the food and service were fabulous. The gentleman who served our table did not know, but his service and hospitality were beyond awesome, and I almost forgot the unpleasant experience. When we left the restaurant, we passed by the hostess who had a stone cold face on, which reminded me how we started the experience. It would be a 5 star night if the hostess could handle the situation a little bit better, or at least don’t tell us in face that we are secondary guests. I did want to talk to the manager, but was afraid that my parents would notice and realized what happened. I’m glad they still enjoyed the whole experience, thanks to our wonderful waiter and delicate & delicious food.

Beautiful Restaurant in a Lovely Hotel

By ThePickledPeddler |

This lovely new restaurant is in the renowned Peninsula Hotel in midtown Manhattan. The space is extremely well designed to take full advantage of the shape of the building and those beautiful Fifth Avenue sights. The decor is stunning, made even more glowing at sunset. The staff is extremely professional and attentive and the service impeccable. Chef Brandon Kida's menu is incredible. Each dish is artistically plated with components seasoned to highlight the individual ingredients and how incredibly well they go together. I am definitely looking forward to dining there again.

Special Spot For a Special Cocktail

By MamaBJax |

Seeing a Broadway show and want a special place to feel special and have an amazing drink? This is your place. The Peninsula is legendary for service and style. WARNING: the drinks are not cheap, but this is NYC and one of the best hotels in the world. This cocktail stop is a full on experience from the decor, the service, the people watching, and the drinks. The cocktails are amazing and a work of art. Our drinks were made and brought to the table, but completed at our table with the topping of champagne. The service is attentive, friendly, and they make you feel special. You do get an assortment of gourmet nuts that are delish. We sat at the communal table that has a huge window overlooking 5th Ave. The decor is dark, warm, with spectacular flower arrangements. You are not rushed, and can enjoy your drink, the people you are with, and the NYC vibe.

Not your average hotel restuarant

By Michael H |

Hotel restaurants can have a sometimes justified bad reputation for poor food and general laziness, Clement couldn't be more different however. The food was absolutely delicious and beautifully presented. It was some of the nicest food we had during our stay in New York and was relatively reasonable in regard cost as well. I'd have no problem recommending Clement and I'd happily eat here again!

Classy and nice

By sivrei |

Classy, really good menu and great service. Really enjoyed this spot! Breakfast and lunch her is delicious!

Great brunch

By mkd_travelmania |

If a bit overpriced, the place is calming, refined, but not overly stuffy. They redid the decor so now it’s contemporary. The classic breakfast fare is taken to a much refined level (arancini: risotto balls were superb!) the lobster club delicious and so much lobster meat; the egg frittata, not huge but enough, crisp yet soft with goat cheese in the middle (delicious) the cheese plate really good as well. Crepe Suzette: delicate and tasty. Bellinis a plus. Recommended!

5 star restaurant

By Pat R |

We went fairly early without a reservation. We were treated warmly and seated promptly. The food was some of the best I have even eaten. This is a high class, pricee restaurant with several courses. If you are doing a special treat for you or another person this is a must

Dull, dirty atmosphere - good burger and nice team.

By Murmel |

We popped into the bar as a test for potential future visit to stay at the Peninsula. First impressions always count and in this case unfortunately they were far from perfect. The steps leading up to the bar were filthy with food, from the previous night, on the steps and layered in crumbs and other detritus. The bar itself, photo attached, is dark and somewhat uninspiring. The restaurant is slightly lighter and more pleasant. The team were warm and friendly and we chose from the snack menu the burger. The burger was in European terms "good value", well served and very pleasant. The fries however were soggy. Otherwise, the experience was very pleasant, but even the cloakroom check-in was somewhat terse and lacking in friendliness or warmth. As a first introduction to the Peninsula, we decided not to see the guestrooms and left.

Delicious food. Nice decor

By Bonngail |

My mom and I stayed in The Peninsula so went to check out the restaurant there. The decor was nice with low lighting. All the staff were attentive and the food was delicious. Not sure I'd go out of my way to go to the restaurant but very nice to have such a beautiful place to dine in your hotel.

A fantastic meal to end our holiday

Didn't book just walked in and got a table for two with no problems was greeted by friendly and helpful staff. What can I say about the food ...... Outstanding, delicious well presented I was recommended the sea bass it was a winner so was the veal chop and the rubber and strawberry crisp just finished the meal off . A must place to eat.

Went to the New Year's Eve Dinner Gala. Very "haute cuisine", very elegant, very sophisticated. Festive live jazz music. Would love to go another time, to try the food on a regular day.

Amazing Lunch

By lessalt |

After we admired the view from The Top of the Rock we were ready for lunch. We used the Zagat app I had loaded in my phone and up popped Clement. We almost missed it as it's in the Hotel Pennisula and we were on our way to an Irish Pub when we spotted it. Honestly, it proved to be one of best meals in New York. The ambience and the service were excellent. The women in the party had Cobb Salad but with lobster (a generous serving) and the men had Veal chop which was also generous. Everyone was more than pleased with their lunch, pricey but worth it.

Undoubtedly the best resturant to have a meal on 5th Avenue for me

By Chilli-Bite |

Came back to one of my favorite restaurants on 5th Avenue and loved every bit of my stay. The waiter was gracious as always and ordered my usual lobster bisque. It’s one to die for. Had the days special for main; pan seared branzino and it was spectacular. You just have to try it. Had the mouse for desert and enjoyed every bit of my stay. The ambiance is great. A must stop for everyone wanting a classy mean while shopping on 5th Avenue.

rice way overcooked

By Francesca N |

Yesterday we spent New Year'eve: we had a four course Menu (lobster, fois gras, filet mignon and rice, chocolate mousse). Everything was good except for the rice. it was served underneath the filet (very unusual and not appropriate) and it was way overcooked. At on point the waiter dropped the bread on the fois gras and put it on my small dish by the side without changing it. We paid triple compared to a normal dinner.

An evening stand out!

By 310Lion |

After a lovely dinner in Columbus Circle we decided to waltz on over to the Peninsula for dessert and a glass of wine or 2. We walked into the bar at Clement (which was almost empty, slow night) and asked if they were still open. We were greeted by Diego who said "of course we are open! we love to have you!" Although the place was empty that night, he never made us feel like a bother or rushed. He was gracious, a great conversationalist, attentive, and overall incredibly charming. We loved our food (the Peninsula Cab is a fantastic wine!) Diego's service was truly five-star - you never felt his presence but somehow you never needed anything - our water was always filled, our table quickly cleared, etc. We LOVED him and would return for him alone! Good job, Diego!!

Pre-Theater Dinner was amazing!

By aledo99 |

We ate the Pre-Theater menu and thoroughly enjoyed every dish! We tried the octopus, autumn salad, chicken, sea bass, lobster macaroni, and soup. They sat us at a great table by an arched window for our last evening in NYC. It was perfect in everyday!!

Presentation was outstanding

Be clement to the Clement waiters

By LamN |

The generous Chinese breakfast is not as scrumptious as in Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai or Singapore, but pretty good and the congee quite authentic. Other breakfast dishes are nicely plated. One of the (older) waiters tends to be a bit too cavalier, but overall service is attentive.

Really, the dish was the issue

By MDMensch |

Wonderful setting and attentive service. However, the dishes were an obstacle to enjoying an otherwise flavorful meal. My review docks "2 stars" for the stoneware. Though I had not thought through the physics previously, serving Huevos Rancheros in a tightly curved bowl makes cutting the crisp tortilla base (at the bottom of the dish) nearly impossible, and renders the meal to horizontal consumption. . . Which is not very satisfying for this type of fare. It's like serving a burger in a deep, tightly fitting ramekin.

An exquisite St.Valentines brunch!

By Lifestyle Resor... P |

They do V day brunch as it should be. Only the best Buffett items including a never-ending mountain of oysters on ice, freshest tuna sashimi, shrimps different ways, beet-cured salmon, all dressed-up in red rose petals for the occasion. Save room for a sizable main (steak was good) and the eye poppin' fruit and desert selection. Berries!!! The freshest "berry bar" ever! Raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, strawberries - make sure you get another glass of Deutz for them))) Relax in elegant atmosphere overlooking 5th Avenue. I'm sure your lady will appreciate the view from the windows right on the Valentino flagship store. Don't worry about the bill. AmEx will take care of it while you are drowning in endless speech of praise for your excellent choice! ;)

Spacious elegant room with good service and delicious tasting menu,

By Paul H |

Really not much to add to title other than that the wine choices with the tasting menu (optional) were a little odd, including one upstate New York red that was awful. (I saw another table send it back too!) Aside from that easily avoidable issue, the food was very good.

An excellent dinner

Came here for restaurant week and had a lovely dining experience. The restaurant, staff and food were all wonderful. This restaurant is a great hideout from the masses along fifth avenue.

Simply Perfect!

By WFR |

The Bar at Clement is the perfect place to escape the hustle and bustle of New York, while having a great view of it from the comfortable seats of this luxurious and elegant bar. The very relaxing and calm atmosphere is perfect to enjoy a drink after work or having an aperitif with friends.

Classic Service

By Harvey M |

This is a sophisticated restaurant, in the same manner as a fine French restaurant. It is on the mezzanine level of the Peninsula hotel. Its separate bar area is very attractive and romantic. The restaurant decor is made up of a large number of different shaped small mirrors in a dimly lit room. I started off with the green asparagus soup which was just okay. Listed on the menu as the every Wednesday special of the day is the "Signature Meatloaf." It was one of the best meatloafs that I have ever had, it came with sweet potatoes which were just okay. An amuse bouche and pettie fours were served before and after the meal, respectively.

Wonderful Thanksgiving dinner

By Rita C. |

Highly recommend Clement for dinner. We went as a family for Thanksgiving dinner and it was wonderful. Delicious food, great atmosphere, with professional and friendly hosts. Will return.

Christmas Lunch

By Jo D |

My wife and I booked Clement for Christmas lunch, having looked at all the best hotels in NYC, we found the lunch at Clement to offer us the most traditional of English Christmas lunches. The starters were buffet style, which had an immense array of dishes which all looked to be of the highest quality (although I am not a fan of having food on display without being covered) this was truly was a sight to behold, great selection. We opted for the turkey main course which was very underwhelming to say the least, the Brussels Sprouts were rock hard, and to be fair the whole main course wasn't worthy of being served in such auspicious surroundings. Dessert was simply superb, again a buffet style affair, with very small portion sizes so you were able to sample all of them, the popcorn was particularly fantastic, we felt like we’d had stepped in to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory! So in short, yes we enjoyed it, but the main course was a real let down, and unfortunately the high $600 price tag for 2 of us didn’t reflect to the quality of the overall meal, I would say it would have been good at half that price. The service wasn’t as friendly as I would expect in this calibre of establishment, and yet a mandatory 20% tip was added to the bill. If I was in NYC for Christmas again I wouldn’t come here again, I’d try somewhere else.

An excellent restaurent for the all occasion

By 69tiger888 |

We have been to this restaurent a few times , since we stayed at the hotel . The breakfast is super , only few place in NYC that also serve both Japan and Chinese breakfast . Service is friendly and efficient. .Decor is modern and smart. For dinner , The Dover sole is grilled to perfection , so is the charred octopus . The veal chop is juicy and tasty .Wine list is moderate . You also can request some of the items offered at the restaurent for room service . A place to go even of you don't stay at the Pennisula.

Too expensive for an afternoon tea

By Tina K |

The ambiance was great but the food too expensive and not the greatest in terms of taste, presentation is okay. Service is great.

Average at best and not worth the price.

By StephenCross |

Had both breakfast and lunch here. Really felt the prices were outrageous for the portions. Especially the breakfast …four sausages on a plate, 4 pieces of bacon on another. Warm bread (supposed to be toast) on another. No ambiance. Disappointingly average.

Prix-fixed Lunches are a Deal!

By Maria ‘Bing’ Reid |

So are their pre- theater dinners! Even better desk for restaurant week! Our lunch was very gourmet hUte cuisine and delicious! This not my first time here so I can say they have consistently put out a good show even on restaurant week. I chose their celery root soup for my first course and a wonderful lamb shank with root vegetables that was fall of the bone tender and delicate sauce that appears to have gone through the process of reduction. My dessert was a rectangular tart with nuts and a perfect thinly sliced dried quince decorated in top of my tart. The expensive part was my tea. Oh well, the ambience and servers were attentive and helpful. They have a ore/theater dinner that looks remarkable. I think they can provide you with a ride to tour theater. You have to make an advance notification. Well worth going to for the prix-fixed price.

Excellent Breakfast Overlooking Fifth Avenue

Dining at Clement was the most disappointing dining experience I have had in NYC in five years. The restaurant rooms are beautiful but that's the only good news. The waiter - smarmy, overbearing - said "no" when my host asked if the corn soup had any nuts in it. The waiter who brought the soup was a different person. He started pouring the soup into my host's bowl and my host noticed something chunky in it. "Is that just corn or is there anything else in there?" "Just corn, sir," he said. "There aren't any nuts, are there?" "No," he said. "...Well, maybe just a trace of nuts in the granola - there is granola that they put in the soup." "Well could you please check?" my host asked. A minute later the waiter returned and picked up the soup off the table. "The granola has pistachio nuts in it. I will get you a different one." Host has a severe nut allergy. Yikes. Good he asked several times! It went downhill from there. Undistinguished Cobb salad - utterly bland except for the bacon, not mixed together with the rest of the ingredients (a style thing, I presume). Undistinguished sole. Watery beurre blanc - should be rich and velvety. Wasn't. Should be poured over the fish. Waiter did not offer. The only thing that had a real taste was the espresso after the meal. Other than that, yuk. And the prices! $27 for the Cobb salad. $76 for the sole. Stay away!

DISAPPOINTING CHRISTMAS BUFFET

By S.M.k. |

We went to celebrate Christmas Day at the clement restaurant of the Peninsula hotel and we got a disappointment as it did not live up to expectations.Exorbitant price for what was offered and little variety of dishes to choose from. There was almost no seafood, prawns without flavor, plates without creativity (they put meatballs, pasta, and other dishes that should not be put in a Christmas buffet).Very little variety of desserts and on top bad.And on top of that we charged for water and coffees. There are many buffets better than this and I do not recommend it.

Our Fave!

By Charlotte |

We had a wonderful Sunday brunch at our fave restaurant in the city! Everything on the menu is delicious and the service is unmatched. You never have to wait for a table, and the service is fast, but you never feel rushed. Best of the best in the city and definitely worth the price!

Sunday Brunch

The menu has everything you would want. Also - The food is absolutely delicious. The service is prompt and welcoming. I highly recommend this restaurant for anything you may need! The Waiter was charming and made the experience all the more lovely!

Quite Wonderful

By InTheMomentManhattan |

First of all, this restaurant is quiet and has a soothing decor. It is possible to have a conversation without screaming and there is no stupid music playing in the background. my wife and I also enjoyed our starters and entrees very much. My main course consisted of black squid ink pasta with seafood.Delicious!,,,but maybe not for everyone. there are certainly many more conventional dishes to choose from. Service was smooth, friendly and unobtrusive, I thought that it was all just great!

Went twice for Brunch

By mbotaola . |

I have been twice for brunch with my family, first time a large table of 10 and today only me and my husband. We like the place since it is quiet and elegant, good service, good food I ate the benedictines and were perfect, my husband loved the burger. The only bad thing we encounter is that both times we were rushed. We had the 1:45 reservation and they were rushing since they closed at 2:30. If that is the case, do not accept the 1:45 reserv. We are planning to come back but in another hour so they would be more relaxed and less in a hurry

Quiet Lovely Bar Area

Stopped in for a drink. Beautiful cozy setting with windows that overlook 5th avenue. Randolph is professional and very personable. The Bloody Mary is wonderfully spicy. The nuts and olives added a nice touch. Of course, it is very pricey.

Amazing wedding dinner for two

We ate here after we eloped. Fantastic, romantic, delicious food. Just perfection. They even sent over a complimentary dessert for the bride and groom!

Disappointed

By Scott A |

Great location and nice ambiance. Food terrific but service spotty. Waiter asked if we wanted to order right after drinks served, and when we asked for time the waiter disappeared for some time. When we finished dinner we ignored again as tables around us were greeted and served.

Come see the Christmas decorations but don't eat here!

By aspgreenbrk |

This is in a hotel beautifully decorated for Christmas. But the restaurant was sub-par for such a classy hotel. We wanted to sit at a table in the bar but they couldn't seem to get it cleared. So, no prob, we sat at nice table in the restaurant. My husband ordered Cobb Salad but got a Caesar. I ordered a club sandwich which was ALOT of mushy white bread, with very little of the delicious fillers you order a club sandwich for, like bacon and lettuce. French fries came with it, but I swear they tasted just like McDonald's fries -- cold and hard! We had one glass of wine and the lunch cost $100+tip. We don't recommend it. Or, if you choose to go, lower your expectations....ALOT!

very nice NY place for sunday brunch on 5th Ave

By Juan O |

very good atmosphere, food, and service, however reservation must be made before 1:30pm for brunch since the kitchen close at 2:30pm according to the waiters

Clement means favourable

And yes this place is a very nice place to go.... Great atmosphere, good victuals, excellent services, all upholding favourably the great name of the Peninsula chain. Way to go!

Exactly as expected!

By Ellen M |

I flew to NYC for business very early in the morning, got into the city faster than expected and went directly to the Clement for breakfast. It was heaven. The menu is outstanding and the service was absolutely the best I have ever experienced. Everyone addressed me by name during my entire stay, was attentive at just the right level, left me alone to read the paper, which they gave me, and provided a great dining experience. I couldn't decide between the eggs benedict and the Belgian waffle and asked the server for his recommendation. He suggested a little of both. It was fabulous.

Good place for a drink

By er2017 |

My mom and I went to the bar at Clement on a Friday night in December. We were pleasantly surprised to find several seats open at the bar. We had a couple glasses of wine which were about $18 each. Although the wine was expensive, we were very happy to find they give you some little appetizers with your drinks like cheese, nuts and olives. While I can’t speak to the food, I would recommend if you’re looking for a place to get a couple of drinks.

Good service and nice food

It’s a nice restaurant and the service is excellent. The food is nice but I really wish that they would change the menu every now and again.

Amazing food and service

By pepoka |

We were in New York for 11 days and I ate at a few nice places but this one was the best. We stayed at the Peninsula so we had breakfast there most mornings and a couple of dinners. Loved the food, classy, great flavours, well presented, quick! The waiters were also fabulous. In Particular Louis at the dinner service and the young blonde French girl at breakfast! Always smiling, chatty, interested and ready to help! Loved it! Highly recommend

Impeccable service, delectable menu, wonderful location in heart of midtown

By 2beans2000 |

First courses of charred octopus and foie gras were delicious. We had a wide array of entrees and finally decided on fresh snapper and duck breast that were both perfect. Our server was perfectly balanced in being present, yet giving us the space we desired for a lovely dinner without being harried. The Peninsula provides a respite that is resplendent, what more can one desire after a long day?!

Lovely experience

This is a very calm and classy place to eat. The service is impeccable and the food is delicious. We will be coming back for more.

Extremely poor service at the bar

By Ming M |

Extremely poor service from all bar staff....they just ignore you. I’m not an ageist but these men have probably definitely passed it! Host allocated the seating and yet I was approached by another male staff member who had the audacity to tell me that the table was reserved and that a waiting list is in place! How rude? The worst Peninsula I have ever been too and the brand should remove either remove this property from its portfolio or take corrective action. General areas are run down and require a substantial refurbishment.

Nice service, unexceptional food

By BrooklineBob |

Clement is a fine but pricy restaurant with a lovely decor and service. There were some hits and small misses with the food which dampened our enthusiasm. The rancho (Mexican is) egg dish was quite good and the waiter keep the salsa sauce on the side, as requested. It still had some kick, but the egg yolk- which should have been runny was just a bit over cooked. Not what you’d expect from a top notch restaurant. The banana pecan pancakes had a generous dose of the fruit and nut but the pancake itself was, well, sort of dry/plain. Frankly the pancakes I made this past weekend using Aunt Jemima’s mix (with a bit of sour cream) was far more fluffy and flavourful. The service was exceptional and there was some fun people watching to be had. There was a pro basketball player with his raucous entourage - a bit unsettling, actually, but they left soon enough. There was this eccentric looking older gent to my left who just had to be famous for something, but I couldn’t place the face. Anyway, the whole affair for just two of us was, something like $130 including tip. While we knew that going in, for the price we expected it to hit perfect notes throughout.

Quintessential New York

By Holly K |

I've been a fan of the bar at the Hotel Peninsula for years. I had no idea it had undergone such extensive renovations. It's quite an improvement. We had a quiet and oh-so-lovely lunch here late on Saturday afternoon for Handsome Companion's birthday. Our waiter could not have been more attentive or solicitous. He wanted to make sure we had a wonderful experience. And we did. Handsome Companion had the salmon. I had the egg white frittata, which arrived incorrectly with arugula. Our waiter must have apologized 12 times. It was okay and was fixed quickly. And, for Handsome Companion's birthday, the waiter delivered a tiny cheesecake, with fresh berries and a candle; a nice touch. We lingered after lunch, sitting and overlooking Fifth Avenue and watching the tourists stroll by. It was just right.

Great Breakfast!

By CCReyes |

Hotel breakfasts are usually boring. This was not the case at Clement, the restaurant at the Peninsula Hotel in NYC. There is such a variety of options to choose from. Since the flagship of the Pen is based in Hong Kong, there are Chinese dimsum-based options as well as Japanese breakfast bento choices. Then, of course, American breakfast favorites are too many to list. On my trip to NYC last month, breakfast was included in my hotel package. I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was and how attractive the presentations were. Service – absolutely welcoming and attentive! No wonder the restaurant was not just frequented by hotel guests but also high powered Wall Street types on their breakfast meetings with clients. I will be back!

Hidden Gem

By adventuresrus2016 |

I really loved this restaurant. The wait staff is exceptional. I thought the food was flavorful and interesting. The restaurant is not stuffy or pretentious. Location is exceptional. It's always interesting to me to read reviews that "things in New York are expensive" as if this is some brand new revelation. Personally, I prefer one nice glass of wine in a beautiful location to several glasses in a crummy spot. The wait staff here was so engaging and real. I think its nice to eat in a nice restaurant that is not pretentious and you just feel relaxed and ready to enjoy your company and food. Loved this place! Keep doing your thing, Clement! Its appreciated !

Polished and refined

By Peter R |

Whether for breakfast lunch or dinner, love the polish and refinement at this restaurant where the food is always excellent and tables are placed a discreet distance from each other (a rarity in Manhattan where people are practically in each other's laps). Aside from the food and choice of beverages which are superlative, the service is supreme. Mario D is the epitome of high end service and it's always a delight when you're in his section.

Nothing bad here :)

Snacks, appies, sandwiches and meals...and the house special drinks...all so delicious and creative and great quality. You pay for it...but it is all very good :)
