Outstanding Indian food in Flatiron!!!

By Linda M |

We had dinner at Cloves twice. The food, service and ambiance are outstanding! Special shout out to Fahad who was attentive and charming. This s is a must stop restaurant in Flatiron! We had the lamb masala, tandoori shrimp and kadai chicken. All of the dishes were presented beautifully and were delicious!

Great food and super experience

Had been away on a holiday from India for 2 weeks and my wife and children were craving for Indian Food. Saw good reviews on Trip Advisor for Cloves Indian Cuisine and we went there for dinner. We thoroughly enjoyed the food and it was really really good experience. Good portions and very tasty food. Great service too. A special mention about Syed who was amazing and made our meal memorable with his warmth and personal touch.

Delicious food

The food and drinks were really good and delicious, also our 4 years old son enjoyed his order. The staff was nice and helpful. We were there quite late during week, so it wasn't crowded. I would only add some cardamom and ginger to my dish (Chicken Jalfrezi)- but it was still tasty :) We were in NY for a week and it was our only really full-flavored meal that we actually liked there.

So good, I'm going back tomorrow!

Cloves is hands down the best Indian fare in New York City. No need to go any further, whether north, south, east or west. First of all, the food is splendid. I am very picky about my Indian food and tend to always compare to my beloved grandmother's cooking. Cloves is that good. Authentic taste and the perfect blend of spices. I think Cloves cooks with love. Second, the service: remarkable. Genuinely attentive, helpful, and kind staff, from host to servers. Third, the atmosphere: in the heart of Chelsea, this is a fantastic restaurant to take business clients you wish to impress; it's a lovely ambiance for dates or celebrations of special times; it's a great place to take your parents; a friends' night out...anyone! A warm, posh atmosphere with just enough activity to keep it exciting. The wine and drinks list is just right. But let's get back to the food: you won't forget the wonderful taste of Cloves. I'm going back tomorrow with my daughter!

Outstanding food & host

Outstanding food, Syed & the team really looked after us. One of the best meals we had whilst in NYC, we happened to just be passing the following evening & were invited in for a drink! Convenient location & lovely attention to detail inside, nice to see fresh flowers on every table & around the restaurant, truly a fantastic experience & a lovely host who’s nice to chat to!

Excellence and perfection

Of many Indian restaurants around the world this is the one where I ate tandoori chicken and curry cooked in the best way. Perfection. Beware for beef lovers here is not served (on the other hand they serve lamb and kid). They should write on the wine list by the glass the origin: I drank a Pinot noir convinced it was European (given the price) but it was the usual Californian chemical stuff. Mango ice cream also rnticabile. In short, highly recommended restaurant. I leave my heart to it.

Very upscale place!

I go to this place at least once a month, it is so good that it will knock your socks off! The owner is grateful always to see me there and the food is so delicious and fresh; they put great effort into the deliciousness of the food and the deliciousness of their drinks! The restaurant is very clean, they make it their priority to have everything done to perfection! Kudos to you guys, I love you all! Chicken tikka masala is perfect and salmon made the same way is so delicious that I eat it to the point of passing out...lol...it is sooooooo good! Their rice is made to perfection; everything is always perfect!

Wowza!

What a treasure! We stumbled upon this find, and I am so grateful we did! The restaurant is a sit down restaurant that is warm and elegant without being stuffy. We didn't have reservations but were easily able to get a table. One of the owners greeted us and made us feel right at home. We are vegetarian, and he was quick to suggest the black dhal and bagara baingan. We also ordered the paneer tikka appetizer and kadai paneer. Everything was perfectly seasoned and delicious. The dhal was fantastic - the best I've ever had! We ordered rice, onion kulcha and potato paratha which were excellent, as well. They have a full service bar and a mango mojito that was phenomenal! We are only in town for 5 nights, and we already have plans to eat here with 4 of our friends again tomorrow!

Discerning teen approves!

We enjoyed meeting Syed and his wonderful staff. The food was amazing (we ordered matar paneer, aloo gobi, lemon rice, garlic nan, and samosas). Our discerning teen thought that the mild spices levels were tolerable and we all loved the gulab jamun at the end. A fabulous evening overall.

I've been thinking about my meal for the last week!

Just very delicious Indian food! My husband and I each had our usual, chicken tikka and daal makhani, and both of us thought it was the best version of these we'd ever had. The service was beautiful, too.

It was our first time at Cloves and it was a wonderful experience. Syed was exceptionally welcoming, and the other staff was very attentive and warm as well. The food was very flavorful and we enjoyed everything - the lamb chops were amazing! We will surely go back again.

Tasty Indian dinner in a welcoming environment

By Lisa H |

Had a lovely Indian meal at Cloves. It's on the ground floor where my friends live, and they said they eat there once a week or more. Service was very friendly and welcoming, and the food was delicious. Try the fig lamb -- it's the owner's own recipe, and it's terrific.

A Perfect Meal

Stumbled upon Cloves when walking the neighborhood looking for something other than Korean. Normally I'm on my phone reading when dining solo. I didn't pick it up once during my dinner. The food was that good. I was welcomed with delicious, intensely flavored cilantro and tamarind sauces served with papadam. I started with tandoori broccoli and it was perfectly cooked and artfully presented. I decided to go vegetarian with achari aloo ghobi and rice. I did not regret my choice, Again, each component was perfectly cooked and spiced. I ordered plain naan with a side of the onion relish. I ate all of the relish. In fact, I cleaned the plates for all of my meal except for a few swipes of the cilantro and tamarind sauces. The service just the right degree of attentiveness. Maybe the best Indian food I've had, and I've had a lot of Indian food.

Great Restaurant!

My husband and I went to this Restaurant for dinner in early June 2024 and we were glad we did. I had an amazing Peshwari nan and the Chicken Jalfrezi which was one of the best I've ever tasted. My husband (who's a chef) said he had the best Lamb Rogan Josh ever! It's a sleek modern style Restaurant with a great atmosphere and the owner Syed is a great host. Yes I checked out the plates which were lovely Syed lol. I would highly recommend this Restaurant!

Fantastic and authentic Indian. We’ve been to Indian all over the world and this ranks at the very top. Service was also excellent. Hard to find anything critical to share.
