Consistently great

By Annie |

This is one of my all time favorite places in NYC. Great ambience, great music, live jazz most nights, drinks are excellently prepared, wine list is extensive, staff very knowledgeable. Dress nicely and go there for a relaxing evening, smoking your cigar accompanied by a good red wine and some live jazz. Must try their chocolate truffles! Heavenly!

Relax and have a cigar

By Nancy C |

Very nice cigar club in NYC. My husband had a drink and a cigar while I had coffee. The ambiance was what I would expect, comfortable seating - including couches - with a lot of wood and leather. There are minimums for beverage/cigar purchases associated with table service but they were relatively easy to meet. My husband said the cigar selection is very good and noted that the prices are higher than they are if purchased in a cigar store. The filtration system is excellent. I'm a non-smoker and I was sitting in a room of cigar/cigarette smokers and could not smell my husband's cigar unless I leaned toward him and he blew the smoke directly at me. My coffee was very good which was a pleasant surprise. Service was slow at best but I don't think cigar smokers are usually in a hurry. It was a nice stop during a busy day.

The food is ok atmosphere is better

I enjoyed the frank Sinatra with my drinks o had the Balvine 21 year and they have great scotch and whisky selection but the food has room for improvement

Great Atmosphere and Food!

By Chad P |

I was invited to a event at Club Macanudo and after going it has become one of my favorite places in New York City, possibly the world! The club itself exudes old school class, with dim lighting and over sized leather couches, its a great place to come, have a drink, a nice cigar and relax. On top of that they actually have great food, and I can confidently say the BEST baby lamb chops I have EVER had, I actually dream about them now

“Good ole’ boys’ club” in the best of ways

By Sarah M |

I have loved cigars for years and it is becoming increasingly harder to find cigar bars/clubs, let alone great ones. When I arrived it was nice and quiet and became increasingly busier as the afternoon went on. However, I was enjoying myself so much and the ambiance was so "causal/quiet" I didn't even notice the increase in the crowd. It was mostly men (as most cigar establishments are) but there weren't any rowdy groups, or annoying people and it was so nice to finally find a place that I could enjoy myself without being distracted. The bartender was always attentive, happy to accommodate any drink order I had, and didn't take it personally when I preferred to cut my own cigar. You'd be surprised at how many staff get insulted when I ask. I'm just particular, it isn't personal. Another very important feature was that the ventilation was top notch. Not once did I feel stifled or get painfully dry eyes from all of the smoke, and there was plenty. Whatever system they installed was worth the investment. I didn't enjoy any of the food but if it was anything like the rest of my experience, it must be top notch as well. If you enjoy cigars or even just the smell or them, this is the location.

Wonderful, Atmospheric Cigar Bar and Club

By Curt M |

I wanted to smoke a cigar, and that is not easy to do inside anymore. This place is charming, the staff friendly and helpful, and the lunch menu very good. And at lunch time, it is pretty empty, so if you want a place for a peaceful, relaxing smoke, and lunch, this is perfect.

Great place for a break

By superhumgry |

My son and I went in for a cigar and a drink during a recent trip to the City. Cigars are reasonably priced for a place like this and the drinks were good if a little pricey, even for New York. Great atmosphere and attentive wait staff make for a nice break from the hectic pace of the city. Didn’t have a chance for a meal here but the menu looked good.

Relaxing

By hotchef43 |

Went there for my birthday dinner. Very relaxing . Very elegant. A proper Cigar bar in New York City. Go there every time we are in New York.

Favorite spot in NYC for a drink and cigar!

By Leslie H |

They have an extensive drink menu. Great atmosphere to have a drink and smoke a cigar. They let you bring in your own cigars. If you sit at a table, there is a cutting fee of $15, but free at the bar. Good selection of cigars available, but pricy. Definitely stop by if you enjoy cigars.

top cigar bar NYC

By Carmine Lucchese |

This is one of my favorite cigar places in NYC, the staff is very friendly and the layout is great. The prices are a bit high but the location in midtown by the park is why. The Cuban sandwich is one of my all-time favorites. pro tip, sit at the bar and you are not charged a cigar fee for brining your smokes.

Club Macanudo Manhattan

By Onur55 |

A private club. It works with membership system. The flavors are good, especially the seafood. Good on desserts, but the most successful is the Cigar.

I Love This Place!

By Christine P |

After a cocktail party at the Lotte Palace Hotel, my husband and I couldn’t wait to head over to Club Macanudo. I had already researched it on TripAdvisor and knew he’d love it. It’s old world style, elegant, manly and sophisticated. We both enjoyed lunch with wine and then selected the cigar of the week with some cocktails. Our server, unfortunately was running the tables and the bar alone so she was pretty busy but when she did stop at our table she was very engaging and informative. She made me the best rum drink I’ve ever had. Tastes wonderfully with the cigar. If we had more time we would have gone back again. Loved our time and would recommend to anyone who loves a nice cigar.

The best place for a smoke and drink

By Montreal_2007 |

If you are in NYC, no where else to go to smoke a stogie, bare none! The bar area welcomes walk in’s and allows you to smoke your own cigar without a cut fee. Truly worth a stop while you are in NYC!

Enjoy cigars in Big Apple

By MDK38 |

Guys enjoyed cigars and all four of us enjoyed relaxing with drinks, music and fun atmosphere. Something different at a historic venue. Definitely recommend for all who enjoy cigars.

Very nice cigar lounge

By Nic7895 |

Recently enjoyed this wonderful lounge while on vacation in New York City. It was fairly easy to find the place and we were able to get a table inside. Very nice and not too smoky. There is a $20 minimum per person charge with $10 from a cigar going towards this. Very nice selection of cigars and drinks. Very enjoyable, it was quite an experience!

Cigar lovers home

By dgnj2015 |

Many year ago I was first introduced to Club Macunado ,it is specifically for those who enjoy cigars, but has a well stocked bar and fine restaurant and cigars available .The restaurant and bar are open to the public. I enjoy their rib eye, mashed garlic potatoes and roasted vegetables for dinner. When I stop in for a cigar and wine I enjoy their calamari which is deep fried and plentiful .

One of my favorite places in the Big apple

By Michael S |

The Club Macanudo is a place I will not miss every time I'm going to NY. the place is cosi and fun, you meet a lot of very interesting poeple, especially on Wednesdays. the decoration is great and the ventilation in the bar is excellent ( important for a cigar bar). The food is good, but I wouldn't go there to eat, te place is perfect for having a good and well served drink.

Wonderful evening at a top notch establishment

By MontrealMot |

It was my second visit with my best friend to this New York City establishment, one of the last place in the city where you can light up and do it in style! This time around, we had dinner and the food was pretty good. The drinks were very well mixed although prices were somewhat steep. Good selection of cigars but feel free to bring your own. Service was good and staff was attentive to their patrons' needs. We were never rushed. Great evening!

Dinner, Drink and Cigar in NYC! Outstanding!!

By Hrima |

One of the few spots in NYC that allow for the drinks, dinner and a cigar! One of the favorites Been to the one in London which is equally exceptional A fluid bar with pretty people especially after 9 pm Look for the theme nights for a magnificent time Dinner is excellent providing a range of American Cuban and Asian fusion Staff is attentive to all the needs Parking is a challenge but prepare for parking in the parking garage at 62 or 64th streets The club offers humidor leases annually with your name plate on the front Not to be missed by the aficionado!

Cigars and wine

By MoniqueBBB |

if you look for a nice spot in the city were you can have a nice glass of wine and a cigar, that could be the place for you

Fantastic meal if you can tolerate cigar smoke

By GerryBaron06 |

I took a customer to dinner here at their suggestion. The restaurant has a very upscale men's club ambiance to it. Every table was packed out. I was one of the few people there who was not smoking a cigar. The Old Fashion drinks were ok. I actually got charged for 1 round more than we actually drank. My meal of Shrimp Cocktail (huge shrimp) and Grilled Filet accompanied by a glass of Bordeaux Castera was outstanding. I really enjoyed the food. A glass of Fonseca Tawny Port was my dessert. Needless to say, my clothes were saturated in cigar smoke. I had to use the steamer feature of the iron in my hotel room the next morning to get the smell out of my suit.

Cigar Aficionado's Go To in NYC!

Fantastic place to have a cigar, drinks, or dinnner all in a classy environment. I highly recommend it. The atmosphere and the service are outstanding. Wish I lived closer to it.

Puff Daddies Your Table Is Waiting

By Bill M |

James Bond movie set interior has great ventilation and even breezier, friendly and efficient staff. Like stepping back 20 years since this is one of the few places to enjoy an indoor cigar in the city. Semi private so hedge fund guys mix with politicians, pro football players, news anchors and other professionals but the vibe is never stuffy. Food is also quite good. Close a big deal or just act like you’re a big deal in this fun upper east side townhouse. Cigars are available to purchase and surprise-they’re Macanudos at a small premium over cigar store prices. Live music some nights.

Smoke, Steak and Service !

By lawtrek |

For cigar smokers, this is one of the best venues to enjoy a nice Cohiba. Been here many times, but this time, we had dinner too. Steaks rival any great steakhouse in NY, seriously. If you can deal with some smoke (not a lot because this venue has one of the best fresh air/filtration systems at a cigar venue in NY), you will enjoy drink and food. They have a menu of finger foods, appetizers, and entree's. The staff, all very attractive men and women, supply outstanding service, with a smile.

If you like Cigars, this is the place!

By Alfredoman1 |

We went for an after dinner drink and a cigar. The drinks selection is very good, with good variety of wines and also many single malt scotch. They even had Fernet Branca, a rarity that my wife appreciated. Of course there is smoke and the smell of tobacco is all over the place, but that is the good thing of it. Very good a fast service.

Positively surprised

By Patrick K |

Compared to any other cigar lounge i visited, club Macanudo is the most lively one. A nice bar, nice music, chicks, even gambling ... i mean it was really surprising to see all this in a cigar lounge... on my list next time in new york!

Dinner and a Cohiba!

By MichaelKoch66 |

The upscale bar on the upper east side was a welcome stop after a long day. With a relatively small bar and a few entry tables, the place is small until you get into the main room. The game on the screen was great and dinner was really good. ... be warned that this is a throwback to the 80s with cigar smoke and food. The menu was ok with not too many selections but so the food was good. The service was on time and not over bearing and the bar service exceptional. Well more than likely come back for a cigar and cocktail only add it can be fairly smokey to eat.

Excellent by all means

By Elie A |

This was not my first visit to this excellent cigar club. Every time i realize how nice it is especially when it comes to the friendliness and professionalism of the staff. They are very well trained to be compliant with the club rules gut extremely helpful and friendly.

Indoor lively smoking

Lively place with indoor smoking In a convenience of the city this was lively Not too loud but comfortable with singing patrons for the classics

Late Night Indulgence

By The Five Road Trippers 🚙🎡🎢🧳 |

I came here with two friends for a drink and a cigar. This is a very high end cigar bar. These are premium cigars and top shelf liquors. I chose a Macanudo cigar, very basic with a Glenlivet 12 year single malt scotch. Beautiful place to enjoy yourself. Reminded me of the old Havana Club at Carltun on the Park in East Meadow. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable. Sometimes, it's wonderful to live the life of luxury for one evening.

"Club Macanudo Is Not Just Great Cigars"

By Tonia0615 |

My experience at Club Macanudo was awesome! The best seat is at the bar, you can order food, cocktail, and cigar. The bartender was very friendly and gave great advice when choosing cigars and cocktails. This place is classy but with a down to earth feeling. They have tv's mounted for the guys/gals to watch sports. They have a wide selection of cigars and top shelf liquor to choose from. Great place to visit for lunch or dinner.

So unusual and great at the same time

By 3550LOS |

We were 3 couples from Britain celebrating 2 wedding anniversaries and 2 50th birthdays. We were not sure what to expect and at first we were a little unsure what sort of place this was? But then - this is amazing, the decor is old world Gentleman’s Club, the waiting staff were attentive and when when they found out about the wedding anniversaries the Manager provided free puddings. It is the sort place you settle into if you embrace it. We all had cigars (required purchase) and as none of us are smokers normally the waitress provided great advice- I had a small cigar with vanilla flavour and was warned not to enhale!! The food was delicious and there is enough variety to cater for people who prefer seafood to chicken to beef. What an unexpected experience! This is a club where people enjoy cigars and if you want to experience that you will have a nice time. Thanks to the staff for making us feel welcome.

Feels like a private club

By nmhen |

I had to keep reminding myself that it is not actually a private club. Fun, old school decor. Almost feels like a Rockefeller or Morgan could come walking in. Excellent service at the bar, both for cigars, and food/drinks. Excellent menu (cigars, food, drinks). Reasonable prices. Definitely recommend.

Cigar break

By IvanIvanovichGrozny |

Nice place for great cigars, food, drinks and friends. Drinks and staff are excellent. We stayed for 3 or 4 hours and enjoyed several cigars and various dishes. Staff is indulgent and professional.

Great Cigar Lounge/Restaurant

By BigMoWal |

This is a great place to take your date or to hang out with friends! Nice way to put a classy touch on the evening, either before or after your night on the town. Their cigar menu will appeal to all of you cigar lovers. The ambiance is Classy, Cozy, & Cuddly (for you couples looking for romance ❤️) There is a full bar & dining area with flat screen TVs showing the relevant sporting events. If this is your only stop of the evening there is a full dinner menu. The hostess are sexy & knowledgeable. Enjoy!

Cigars, Bourbon, and Fine Dining

By Don C |

This is a place for Cigar smokers, but it's also an exquisite place for dining and sipping on cocktails. The staff is friendly, professional and knowledgeable. Great place for a Sunday afternoon cigar or that after dinner cocktail and cigar location.. you might see someone famous too.

“Where everybody knows your name”

By Taofick O |

As a non cigarette/ cigar smoker, I honestly thought I had no business there. I visited with friends who have a thing for cigars, so I was there more for the company than anything else. While there, I realised that it was more like the patrons were more like family. The members of staff knew almost all their patrons by name, and what they liked and have a playlist to suit them, from Frank Sinatra to Madonna. Patrons could have a locker for about $1000-1500 per annum to keep their cigars and its apparatus. The bar is quite equipped with a wide array of wines and spirits that go for $250 per shot. The kitchen closes about 10pm, although didn’t get to eat anything. Fun place but the smoke could get overwhelming after a while for a non smoker

Best Baby Lamb Chops in NYC

By Chad P |

They have the best baby lamb chops in the city, hands down, the atmosphere is amazing and the service is amazing

A perfect way to spend a rainy day...

By Gian J |

Recently, I stopped by the club to have a cigar on a warm and wet day this summer. As usual the staff was amazing! The food is always great and it was a great way to give pause to my day. After, I enjoyed a Hendricks and tonic along my cigar. Hours passed and I had a great time. If your ever in NYC and enjoy cigars this is one of the better places to spend some time to take a load off! You won't be disappointed...Enjoy!

Late night cigar with appetizers

By WB1997 |

I have been to this Cigar Bar a number of times, and while the service has always been average this visit sunk to a new low. My son ordered calamari which was chewy and cold. This was after we waited 20 + minutes to order it. I ordered lobster bisque which was good. We tried to get our servers attention but by the time she returned (another 15) minutes, the kitchen was closed. We then ordered another round of drinks to at least enjoy the cigar and the great atmosphere but they never came. There was No offer to credit our cost, no apology at all. It then took about 30 minutes to get our bill and check out. Highly disappointing

After dinner drinks

By Galen B |

A great establishment with a wonderful selection of spirits, wines and cigars. We had an after dinner drinks party here tonight and, both from a colleague and client perspective, it was very well received. I would recommend this place for an evening wind-down.

upscale cigar bar

By mallard460 |

While cigar bars are my husband's thing, I have to admit that I enjoyed the atmosphere and did not at all mind the smoke as their ventilation system was very good!

Lived up to my high expectations

By CarlaDMitchell |

Amazing place - lots of wood, just a hint of cigar smell hits you on the way in, a perfect spot for some really good Scotch and cigars. It's a masculine place, make no mistake. The service was excellent for our party of three (a woman with two men) - seated on comfy leather sofa/chairs at the front of the restaurant. While we checked the dress code prior to arrival, the boys had to remove sandals and sneakers and wear the house-provided loafers. Turns out MY strappy sandals were acceptable. Fun to be the girl sometimes! Yes, it's on the high side for prices; but absolutely worth it. Great selection of both spirits and cigars, plus helpful folks to guide you to what you want if you're unsure. And yes, if you don't smoke, you'll pay a $15 "cutting fee" nonetheless. I woke up the next morning sounding like Kathleen Turner . . . a happy souvenir of the night before. If you get a chance to visit, go. I was on a rare trip to NYC but would return in a heartbeat!

Bucket list great experience

By JMEA1 |

In my trips to NY I have always wanted to visit the clubs where I can smoke a good cigar and this time, I chose the Club Macanudo to start experiencing that pleasure It could not be a better choice, the location is perfect, the decor of wood, bronzes, carpets, is as expected, in a perfect environment The service and quality of food and drink is excellent The public very in line with the quality of the place, the atmosphere and its prices according to it all Fee requested if you are smoking your own cigars but its ok......smoking a Don Carlos personal reserve from Arturo Fuente is worth the 15 US$ fee Highly Recommended

Great place on a cold day

By Fort Lauderdale Tiki |

We went there late afternoon, so the smoke wasn't to overwhelming yet, but it does get bad once the evening crowd arrives. Great experience.

Great place for cigars/alcohol but avoid the food...

By 795AnthonyM |

I thoroughly enjoyed Club Macanudo for smoking a cigar. Their cigar and alcohol selection is superb, but the food my wife and I ordered was horribly overpriced and rather bland tasting. I ordered a NY strip (for $47) and it looked and tasted like a steak that should have been served for breakfast with eggs. For that price I would expect beef of a higher quality not some hunk of bland tasting leather. I also ordered a seafood cocktail with shrimp and crabmeat and the crabmeat was swimming in cocktail sauce and not very tasty. Service was good, staff was very friendly and the cigar I smoked was very fresh. If I go back to Club Macanudo it will be to smoke and cigar and have a drink.

Great Place For Cigars and Dinner

By FunFoodFinder |

Being from Ontario where you can not enjoy a cigar anywhere, this is heaven If cigars bother you, stop reading now and dont go here. If you enjoy a nice stick, read on. This classic old school lounge, with leather chairs, deep wood panels and ornate bar, makes you fall in love the second you walk inside. First thing you will notice is everybody is dressed with a bit of class. Dress code in effect. Suite is not required, but your not getting in in shorts and a tee shirt. We started with a few cocktails from the endless menu, then a gourmet dinner. Arugula salad, spicy tuna tartar pyramid, seared fresh tuna steak, finished with deep fried chocolate truffles. Then without leaving out table, the dishes were cleared a large ashtray was brought and the cigar menu was handed out. Sit back relax, enjoy a cigar and bourbon while listening to the live soulful jazz. yep... heaven. So good actually, we went back the next night too. Make a reservation.

Great selection of Cigars and drinks. The food is just so so but the atmosphere is so wonderful and the service is over the top.

Really Surprised and Disappointed

By KNICKRD |

Went there last night for a wine tasting event. First time there, nice looking room and décor. Food that was put out, fried shrimp and calamari were just OK, wings pretty good, not the best thing to serve at a cocktail party. The real disappointment was the cigars. they offered a nice selection, and the server was very professional, but the cigars were stale. They were hard as a rock, I mentioned it to the server, and she said they are wrapped tight. When I put it in my mouth, it crunched and the cap peeled and fell off. I am just shocked that a Cigar place of this caliber would have cigars like that. And it was not just mine, several others that I spoke to said the same thing. Even if they were old or they were trying to get rid of them, at least hydrate them. I just glad I w

Cigars, cigarettes, pretty good food, exceptional service

By rcarp626 |

Friday, dinner 2/20/09 -Thus far, the best martini we've had in NYC. There was a $20/person cover charge, even though we were eating, but I didn't care because it was cold and I wanted to enjoy my cigarette between courses. Terrific wine list and Stags Leap is a treat for us. We ordered the demi bottle at $165 (full bottle is $300). They were out of the demi bottle, we ordered something else that was forgettable. We shared the crabcake appetizer and although we didn't care much for crabcake, the salad that came with it was pretty tasty. Nice touch that the forks accompanying the appetizer were chilled for the salad. We each ordered the Grilled Havana ribeye with escabeche sauce. It is the chef's signature dish so we figured we couldn't go wrong. They also have daily specials. Both of our steaks were perfectly done to order, one rare, one medium rare, both with a nice char on the outside. I felt like mine (med. rare) tasted salty, I might be wrong, maybe they don't season at all so perhaps it was the extra time on the grill to achieve med. rare. Nothing special about the veg and mashed potatoes that accompanied the food. The service was outstanding, friendly, professional - I could on and on but you get the idea. If a patron dropped a napkin or utensil, it wasn't on the ground for long as the servers all worked together to make sure every patron had a pleasing experience. We did.

Cigar club with exceptional dishes

This is man's kingdom, great steak, great rum and great cigars if you are common guy there is nothing you would not find here

Go for cigars and drinks, not food

By VegasGirl118 |

This place is great for after dinner drinks and cigars but I would not think of it as a restaurant, even though they serve food. My husband and I decided to eat here as it was raining and didn't want to have to cab it to several different places. We would have been better off eating at the hotel and coming here afterwards for drinks. It is very pricey, but everything is in NYC. If you don't mind spending at least $20 per drink, it is a great place to unwind, chat, smoke a cigar and get that rich, NYC feel. But please don't waste your money or your expectations on the food.

Goooood

By TravelerKU |

Good to have a meeting there with cigars' lovers : choice of products and high level of service will most likely tempt you to stop by again. This was my third time and you don't need to be a club member to stop, have meeting, have good food and especially good cigars are of your choice.

If you've got'em, smoke'em

By Steelydad |

Low lit, luxurious men's club feel. Bartenders mix excellent cocktails. Waitresses are very attentive. Since this is an establishment that allows, even encourages smoking, large ashtrays are everywhere, and are replaced with clean ones every 5 minutes. Large cigar selection. If you want to entertain a smoker, this is the place.

Cigars with the Boys

By Intergalactose |

Consistently enjoyable luxe joint to drop by with the fellas and enjoy a stogie. I usually bring my own and just pay a cutting fee, but their cigar menu is impressive and I have found options that I can resort to during impromptu visits. Service is good, but I have encountered a few exceptions. Following smoking bans in NYC, this place is a time capsule. Smoke 'em if you got 'em.

loved the club

By Relax22625 |

I travel to Club Macanudo each week to enjoy a marvelous time in the city. The club offers a great atmoshphere, great food, and a crowd that knows how to have a great time. Johnny is spectacular and provides the personal touches with any request. If you like to have a cigar with a great dinner, this is the place for you and that special person for the special evening......Louie K.

Cool cigar bar in NYC

By Juan C |

I went to Club Macanudo the first day I arrived to NYC as part of a family vacation. It was recomended by family members that already are members of this business. What I like about this place is that it feels like you are entering to a very classy place. The service was nice...but in a way not excellent. There were moments that our water glasses and drinks were empty and there were no servers coming to the table to serve us another round. But I have to recognize that it was a Friday night and it was a busy night. Also the live music was superb...I even went to the band to congratulate them on their performance. Regarding food, everyone was in the mood for appetizers and/or sandwishes or burgers. We ordered Cuban Sandwich and the Regular Burger and it was amazing. Also I ordered the Lobster Soup and it was DELICIOUS!!!! Yum...I would had ordered the soup again if I wasn't full already. Regarding the smoking, my only negative comment will be that I have been to cigar places that have better ventilation than this restaurant. But I would return to the place next time I'm in town :). Thank you for a wonderful evening

Class & style

By Stephanie B |

Although technically a cigar club, the Club Macanudo is a cosmopolitan, sophisticated bar and restaurant which provides a civilised refuge for smokers on Manhattan's Upper East Side. There's a comfortable lounge, a stunning bar (glimpsed briefly in an early episode of "Damages") and a very good dining room. The cuisine is upscale American grill food, the drinks are excellent, and there's always the chance of an interesting conversation with other guests. It's also a place where a solo female guest can eat and drink comfortably. (Worth noting: my husband turned up wearing respectable casual wear with expensive trainers, and was told that he'd have to change his shoes. The club provided a pair of stylish slippers. Not sure what the rest of the dress code entails, but be warned: this is not a place for cargo pants and funky T-shirts. And thank God for that.)

What the heck happened to one of my past faves???

By Barbara A |

First- this was one of my "musts" when I visit NYC. Lovely seating, kind of an english mens club like atmosphere with jazz and soft lighting. Excellent wine list. Fun painting in main room of famous cigar smokers. LOVE the fact they are cigar and cigarette friendly. BUT: We had dinner there- food looked very good. Issue: rather than separating the diners from the smokers even a bit-they had a gentleman smoking a huge cigar right next to use. Smoke blew right into us.Rendered the food untastable Next they had the lighting turned WAY up- what the hell? Ruined any chance of ambience. They need to fix the separation issue or STOP serving food. And for heavens sake-lower the lighting.

Great place to smoke...

By Dmt1230 |

If your traveling to NYC and need a place to enjoy a smoke inside (due to weather) this is your place. Be sure to wear a collared shirt cause your not going to allowed entry without being a professional smoker. Nice place. Expensive drinks compared to average facilities...but this is not an ‘average’ place to smoke. I’ve been here a few times and will return next time in NYC.

Cigar lounge which is too modern

By Faisal B |

Typically, I would want to have a cigar in a lounge which is not playing pop music, where you have to shout hard to be heard. Wait staff was frazelled, decor was too retro, I would not want to have another stog in this joint.

A great place to smoke, eat, relax and enjoy Manhattan

By DanthetripMan |

There is no better place in NYC to grab a smoke, a bite to eat and drink. Club Mac is fantastic. The staff is great, the seats are comfortable and the bar is always stocked.

cigar bar

By roaminggourmets |

nice decor. and well located on upper easr side. right in front of le bilboquet. great to have a cigar, snack and a drink but tends to get a cheezy clientel

Great atmosphere but a little pricey

By nunuthedog |

Incredible selection of cigars and the look and feel is really cool. Worth a stop in as its a fun place to check out, but pricing was a little over the top. Sure that's intentional to keep the aura up and riff raff out, but not sure I'd go back other than to take someone to check it out.

Beware of the Bait and Switch

By Daznslinga |

The food was delicious. There is an excellent selection of cigars. The ambiance is inviting. However the waitstaff was horrible and pushy! Additionally, their website has a Sunday Brunch Menu. Well, I invited family and a few close friends to have brunch to celebrate my husband's birthday and we were told that there was no such thing as a brunch menu. I pulled the menu up on the website and they refused to honor it and only provided us with their regular menu. For a party of six, we spent over 1K on food alone. My mother-in-law ordered a drink upon her arrival and did not receive her drink until approx. 30 minutes later. We don't mind spending money, but the point is....as an upscale establishment, the waitstaff should reflect that and they should update their website and not mislead folks. I will not return nor recommend Club Macanudo.

Smoke, don't eat

By Tiler John |

Club Macanudo is a rare beast, a club where you can eat, drink and smoke at your table. I went there in a party of four where I was the only smoker because we read that the ventilation system was so good that you can't smell the smoke. Thats a lie, of course you can. The ventilation is good, you can see the smoke being whisked away but be careful where you sit. Non smokers need to sit out of the flow. Food here is just average and very overpriced. If you must eat have the nachos starter which is so big that you won't need anything else. Wines are also expensive so stick to spirits and beer. There is supposed to be a compulsory $15 cigar purchase per person but it wasn't enforced. If you take your own they charge you a $15 cutting fee. If you have your own good cigars it's probably worth it. Club Macanudo is best suited for popping in for a drink and a cigar before or after a good dinner elsewhere.

Good visit

By Ian D |

So, I know it's tough to find a place to enjoy a cigar in NY after 7pm, and I've been wanting to try this place out. Yes, it's a great wooden and leather homage to the day when you could enjoy your cigar after dinner, however it is a bit out of the working man's budget for drinks and a cigar. I did notice that members get a discount and preferred seating, so I wanted to enquire about membership. Unfortunately whomever was in charge of those discussions was too busy to chat with me, and after waiting 20 minutes, I decided to go. Will I come back... maybe, If certainly like to give it another shot and see if it's better the second go around.

A Smokin' Place

The Best Cigar Bar - First Class

By FoundedNY1869 |

One of the best meals I ever had in NYC. Great staff went to every extreme to make sure our group was comfortable and well taken care of. The food was amazing. Simply the BEST BACON slab EVER. the BEST rib Steak. If you like to smoke cigars and enjoy a meal. you MUST TRY This place. Tell them Anthony sent you...

Great Time!

By arrjay |

Excellent time in a beautiful Cigar Lounge. Our party was promptly seated and attended to impeccably. We ordered cigars and drinks which were all perfect. Our waiter was great despite my wife miscalculating his tip (math was never her strong suit), which was fixed correctly. Overall a great place and a great time were had by all.

Ambiance

By alish2006 |

Have loved this place for years. The nachos are to die for and I have never had a bad meal there in 10 years. Great banter at the bar with people of all nationalities. Different music each night at the weekend. Having a cigar or cig, if you want it, is welcomed. Nice to feel that old world charm right in the City. Recommend it for dinner, drink, after dinner. Spent a few rainy afternoons sipping champagne at the bar and loved it!

Lively Cigar Bar

By KeokiHangLoose |

One of the few places in NYC where you can fire up a stogie. I went for a Business Networking Event. There is a Menu with a full selection of Drinks and Cigars. We did not order any food. The Service is attentive and can help with your Cigar selection. The Bar area gets cramped for a Group and the Managers were constantly trying to corral us which was intrusive. You pay dearly for the privilege of smoking. The pricing is strictly geared for the expense account crowd.

Not the best for a business meeting

By dgnj2015 |

I have enjoyed this location for 20 years but lately it has changed. The noise level is terrible .You can hardly carry on a conversation.............the last 2 visits[business meetings ] were terrible . The table next to us was like "college night party" . The shouting and very loud conversation was not in keeping with this place. it seems a different clientele has come in ,this is open to the public in addition to club members . I should note the food, and bar are excellent but it is wasted on the crowd!

Burger n cigars

Our typical Friday after work! Bacon cheese burger and an amazing triangulo or prince de Galles! Whatever you do don't get your own humidor or you'll end up spending your life in this place.

Amazing Cigar Bar!

By RoamingWinemaker |

Warning!- This is a cigar bar! If you don't like cigar smoke, don't go! But if you love the ability to relax with a cigar, and amazing drink, and great food, this is the place to go!

Must visit for cigar smokers

By Bacinac |

Saturday night was great. Super busy. Great cocktails. Nice cigar selection. Not cheap. Spend $40 including a cigar and then you can smoke your own. I really enjoyed it. Will visit again.

Wonderful Club.

By Bill W |

We had a pipe smoker in our foursome and decided to pay a late evening visit after a play. The club was a very comfortable setting for our small group to enjoy appetizers, cigars, and some cocktails. Service was excellent, the cigar and drink selection exceptional, and the prices very reasonable. The air handling system did a fabulous job of keeping the room remarkably clear. The club is on my list for a return visit the next time I visit NYC.

My first time in a cigar club!

By Andrada F |

Being for the first time in NYC and for the first time in a cigar club I can only say I had a really good time. Despite the smell and the smoke which you assume to see, feel and smell, good food was served, costumers were chilling out ( at least this is what I observed), the music was nice and because we were there with really good friends my own experience tells me that I would return there anytime.

I had my first cigar here and it was great!

By lostnyctraveler |

I loved this place! The decor is fabulous and the best experience is if you sit at the bar. Chances are you will meet people from all over the world sitting next to you. The drinks are great and so is the music and atmosphere!

Superb experience

By Barney B |

Great atmosphere, decent but pricey food. We spent a ton of money but it was well worth it. Highly recommended but beware of the smoke. Better to get there early and eat early, enjoy a cigar before it gets too raucous and smokey. The bar seems to be in high demand with good service and knowledgeable bartenders. We are repeat customers. Especially in fall and winter.

always good for cigar fans

I love this place for a good drink and cigar, could be a morito or a hard liquor, with a Partagas, always a good moment!

Cigars and More!

By SandyVan |

Birthday weekend in NYC started off with Dinner and Cigars. Started off with a Midnight in Manhattan drink, had Coconut Shrimp and Rack of Lamb, topped off with a Macanudo Gold Label Duke of York cigar. Exquisite evening!

Dried Out Cigars

By KNICKRD |

Went for a special wine event. nice looking place, and the staff was very attentive, but the cigars were hard as a rock. Crunched in your mouth, and the cap peeled and cracked off. Not just on mine but several others that I spoke to. I don't know if because it was a private event, they pulled out old cigars, but at least rehydrate or something. Thankfully I wasn't paying, especially at those prices.

Cigars in the Big Apple

By krochunter |

On a solo trip into NYC, I found myself on a mission to have a great cigar in great a atmosphere. Club Macanudo came highly rate do I thought I'd start there. When I entered the club I was greeted by the hostess, Natalie, with a "How can a help you?". Seemed a bit odd, but a went with it and informed her I was there to enjoy one of their cigars and a drink. She offered me the option of a leather chair in what seemed to be the foyer or at the bar. Again it struck me as odd because there were st least a dozen tables open (and stayed open my entire stay) and they were not one of my options. Before I could sit it was curtly brought to my attention that if I brought my owns cigars there was a $15 cutting fee. After opting the leather chair vs a bar stool I examined the cigar and drink menus and was pleasently surprised in the variety and selection. A server, Alex, was warm and inviting and promptly took my drink and cigar order. In fact my 4 star rating is heavily based on her service. The other wait staff was attentive, but not over bearing. The club itself was amazingly spacious (or at least what I saw from the foyer), with carved solid mahogany with tiled flooring. the art work was tasteful and cigar focused. All in all this is a great lounge, with great cigars in NYC.

Beware!

By jay s |

Unfortunately the management and general management at Macanudos/Nyc are forces to reckon with. There is a serious aura of lack of respect for there patron/members. I’ve been a patron of Macanudos/nyc for a long time and a paying member for 2 years. Last week I was sitting at the bar having a drink and smoking a cigar when a woman who I’ve seen frequent the establishment numerous times was sitting at the another end of the bar decided to give me the finger. I was so insulted since this was rude/ disrespectful and unnecessary. By the way I’m sure the camera system at the bar has video of everything that took place. I approached the manager, explained to him what happened and his response was (isn’t she a pretty girl) 2 days later she was at the bar. The level of respect at this establishment only for certain people. I’m a a paying member what happened to the level of respect that I deserve as a member and a human being. It doesn’t exist. The next incident is disgusting. I was having dinner one night and my stomach wasn’t feeling well. I needed to use the bathroom. There was a private member party happening in the back room where the public toilet is. I asked the general manager if I could use the bathroom and he refused to let me use it. he said it was a member party. My response was I’m a member also, I’m not feeling well can I use the toilet. He said no, use the toilet in the front. The one in the back is clean and the toilet in the front is smaller than a closet and it’s always filthy. I left , not using the smaller bathroom fearful of diseases. At this time I had no place to go so I left trying to get into my car when I had an accident. It was the most embarrassing moment of my life. The next day I was subjected to jeering from some ignorant people that attend the establishment. Please be aware of the treatment you could receive from management, which is borderline abusive. If you wanna pay a lot of money to be disrespected, Macanudos’s is you place. What kind of people don’t allow someone who is ill to use the public facilities. Especially a paying member. Please be aware you may be the next victim. There is a complete late lack of managerial skills lacking at Macanudos’s/Nyc beginning with the general manager. he has some deep rooted personal problems that prohibit him from effectively doing his job in my opinion Beware!

One of NYC's swankiest cigar bars

By Charming_Karl |

Club Macanudo was grandfathered in due to the fact that it was open when the first round of anti-smoking laws were passed, and that is the only reason that it is allowed to serve food. And the menu is not half-bad. When I was there the last time, I had the lamb chops and was very happy. Of course, the main reason to go there is to smoke cigars in such a swank atmosphere. Just beware of the fact that it attracts hookers, so if you are a guy and some gal starts coming on to you, don't get too excited - she is probably a working girl.

Very Upscale but open to the public!

By Travel32380898239 |

Club Macanudo exudes upscale elegance. The staff was friendly, and the patrons were warm and welcoming. The ambiance is truly next-level, with stunning tapestries and beautiful furnishings that create a luxurious atmosphere. The food was amazing, but the portions were small, and the prices were steep, making it difficult to fully enjoy the experience without feeling priced out. While everything else was exceptional, the high costs led me to deduct one star.

Fun... once in a while

By Brian L |

Enjoyed this place for its huge cigar menu and vintage, oaken ambiance. We ordered standard Macanudo cigars which smoked well despite one of them coming unraveled right from the start. The cocktail menu was large and the quality of the drinks was passable, if not memorable. However the real issue that discourages my return was the prices, as the menu was priced at close double what seemed reasonable.

Our “Go To” Cigar Bar in NYC!

By Michael R |

Oh my God! My wife and I LOVE this place! We are both pipe smokers and felt right at home at this old school, yet comfortable, Club. We were seated in a archway, which was not quite convenient or comfortable, but considering we made reservations just an hour beforehand, we were happy with anything! Every thing about Club Macanudo is wonderful (OK, except maybe for the prices, but, hey, you get what you pay for!). Dinner was fabulous, drinks were fabulous, wait service was friendly and efficient. My wife, who was wearing 5” heels (at my request ; ) all evening (through Saks & St. Patrick’s) was uncomfortable in the hard back chairs situated at our table. When I notified a busboy? he could not have been more helpful. He immediately swapped out her chair for a fully cushioned one. The service, in all aspects, was quite unbelievable and very rare in NYC. We went to two other smoking clubs during our stay, and Club Macanudo outshined them both by heads and tails.

Great cigar bar and restaurant

By Gerard H |

I went here one night when I was in New York for a cigar, I sat at the bar and met heaps of locals and tourists there. Great atmosphere and if you enjoy your cigars you can take your own or they have a great cigar menu. I felt very welcomed ,I did not eat there but had a few beers and enjoyed my cigar.

great for cigars

Cigar Smokers Delight

Good food and drinks to go along with a Great variety of cigars. While the place is public it has a private club style feel. A great place to unwind after a long day of sightseeing or work

Way below expectations

By Jim T |

I was invited by a friend to join him at Club Macanudo this past weekend. I had heard quite a bit about the club and was really looking forward to it. When I first arrived I was quite impressed. The decor and professionalism of the receptionist painted a picture of class and the promise of a great experience. Other than the decor, I was disappointed from then on. The cigar selection was looked good but was well over priced, I know it's New York City but none the less these cigars were way over priced. What was surprising, the cigars were not very well kept. The stick they handed me was dry to the touch and burned like dred grass. I smoke cigars, am used to smoke and I have an expectation that in any cigar club there would be a volume of smoke, I also have an expectation that in a club/cigar bar that there would be an exhaust system to somewhat minimize that volume. I also know that regardless of the ventalation system a large crowd smoking could overwhelm even the best system. The night of our visit, the club was far from full and yet the smoke was so dense that both my friend and I, seasoned cigar smokers, were having trouble with our eyes burning. This club and mystique of the club screams class unfortunately a visit here will have you screaming for mercy. I would NEVER return and would recommend you not visit.

Nice Place for Food and Cigars

By clubhead |

Nice ambience with proper tables for dining. I was there in the afternoon so not a lot of smokers around to judge the effectiveness of the ventilation. Tables are pretty close apart so I'm not sure how it would be like if it was full house and everyone is smoking at the same time. Burger was great which was kind of unexpected. Would be a good place for business entertainment.

Cool Hangout

By WonderousTraveler |

Not only can you get your own personal humidor - you can also just visit as a guest. We've had a locker there for a few years and it's always fun to visit. A must for cigar aficionados

The food is surprisingly good

By George U |

I have been to Club Mac many times. It is a beautiful mecca for cigar smokers. The service is always top notch. Last night was no exception. I met a friend for drinks, cigars & dinner. Club Macanudo is a cigar bar but the food is surprisingly good. My friend & I split the tuna tartar pyramid which is huge & comes with 8 large toast points. Great but a lot of food for an app. My friend had the rib eye which was cooked just like he likes it & he enjoyed it. I had the Chilean Sea Bass, which was amazing. Nicely seasoned, crispy on one side but completely moist & juicy. It is a bit pricey but it is worth it. The air filtration system is unbelievable so it is never smokey in there. It is a good date spot too. I have been there with my wife & also double dated there. There are almost always some couples there.

Lunch and a Cigar

By Kate A |

I loved this place! First, I am a cigar smoking woman of high end cigars....and the cigar I smoked was spectacular! But, the lobster bisque was to die for along with a very relaxing atmosphere. The next time I am in NYC, I will most definitely go back,

Not a good experience

By Dan F |

I have been visiting the Macaundo Club for 15 years and this was hands down the worst experience ever. They were extremely busy so I ended up sitting in a chair in the entrance hallway. 15 minutes after I ordered an expensive port and cigar I was told that my table was reserved in1 hour. Just after I ordered another port, 25 minutes after I was told that I would have to move the young gentleman who was the host told me that I would have to move as the reservation for my table had arrived. When I reminded him that he had told me that I had an hour and it only ended up being 25 minutes he had no explanation and offered no options. I ended up having to stand and drink my port and smoke my cigar. Not sure where management was but the entire matter could not have been handled any worse. Will never go back.

A Old School NYC Tradition

By Paul B |

If you got um, smoke them. At Club Macanudo on NFL draft night with Ray Lewis, Emitt Smith and Antoinr Bolden having cigars and drinks. Smoky and drinks, traditional and a NYC must. Make sure you expect second hand smoke!

Old School

By ma6907 |

Even though I don't smoke, there is somethig refreshing about entering this club--full of cigar smoke with wood paneling. Service was outstanding. The jazz was even better--just loud enough that you couldnt hear the people next to you, but just soft enough to enjoy your conversation. I ony had an appetizer, but it was good

Smoke/ Drink Old School without Apologies

By richard a |

One of the few oasis in Bloomberg and DeBlasio's wasteland vision for personal freedom to have a great Cigar, Strong drinks well poured, plus a reasonably priced bar menu featuring burgers and smaller steaks/fries.

Didn't know a full blown cigar club/bar still existed in NYC

By Jeff P |

Good place to meet with cigar lovers and those that can take the smoke for a few hours. It's 90% men (not much of a surprise there) and women will get some extra attention (From what we observed with the few women there without 'dates'), Good food, not a 10 out of 10 though. Bruschetta was fantastic, my chicken was good, but those that had steak were not all satisfied. Love the old school vibe and would go back again, but not on my next trip :)

Cigar Lounge in New York City, NY

By Vy H. |

Came this past Saturday late evening—didn’t have reservations but they had two seats at the bar! Has a full bar and decent selection of cigars but mostly focused on CAO cigars. Service was great—bartenders were friendly and attentive. Such an amazing ventilation system here!! This place has more of a restaurant feel, lots of tables, versus lounge/sofa chairs.

Bring your own cigars - great smoke in NYC upper East Side

By long4thebest63 |

Stopped in early 6:30 evening Friday. Place was just beginning to fill up for an eight o’clock live music. I hadn’t brought my own cigars so I had to purchase one from the club. The La Gloria Cubana was dry and un-smokable. The server brought me a replacement but it was only marginally better. Oh well. The atmosphere here is great. Nice bar, leather chairs and friendly feel. Service was good despite the cigar. I would recommend this place highly BUT bring your own cigars.

Surprised places like this still exist.

By kevin r |

Dark interior, the air of exclusivity, crooner with a four piece backing band singing stereotypical oldies from a stage that felt like they simply moved two tables to accommodate ... wanna be Wall Street guys talking about deals with well-appointed scotch drinking women, 20 something rappers playing adult, retired athletes, politicians, and old guard Manhattanites ... the Club Macanudo is a throwback. Staff was awesome and attentive, as you'd expect; food was better than expected. 15 minutes will claim an hour of your life in second hand smoke, and be prepared for multiple visits to the dry cleaner to purge the stench. But, few places where you can truly turn back the time.

Good food and a place to smoke!

By Bill |

Had a good time with clients here. The food was good and the music was too. Warning, bring your own sticks or you will have to mortgage your first born! But i wont complain as the place is first class!

Good Place For Indoor Cigar

By ColonelLarrySanJose |

If you are looking for an indoor place to have a cigar - worth a shot. $30 minimum translates to a cigar and an adult beverage. I thought the noise level was more of an 'issue' than the cigar smoke. Service was very good.

Feel a big shot and enjoy a cigar in a great atmosphere

By ColefamilyCommack |

Great decor and excellent food. The spice rubbed Ribeye and the Sea Bass are the best. Great place to bring clients and friends.

Nive place with a great cigar repertory

By memo D |

Macanudo is a place with a great ambient for cigar lovers. Imagine to have good meals and drinks, and after that smoke a good cigar. It is not cheap, but for sure it will be a nice experience for cigar lovers
