Uncomplicated food done superbly

By greenstOat24 |

Cookshop offers a compact menu; when we dined there, 3 vegetarian, 3 seafood and 4 meat and poultry options, plus a number of salads. The food was uniformly excellent. No foams and complex reductions here; just good produce cooked well and plated beautifully. Service was also first rate. We had a time constraint and our server was well up to it. Definitely a place to go back to.

In one word: amazing! No problem with dietary restrictions. The food was sooo good. Would definitely recommend.

An artful restaurant in the new gallery district

By Virgil S |

Cookshop is the perfect place to eat during or after a day of gallery tripping in NYC. Whether you want a snack, sandwich or a meal, the offerings will satisfy any taste. It's a very pretty place with excellent service and good food. The food and wine menus are limited, but well-selected and you're certain to find something to satisfy you.

Not Bad

By Max D |

First off, very busy on a Saturday. I can’t even get out after eating, but I was able to get a table since I came at opening time. It’s one of those farm to table places so safest bet to get veggies. I ordered lamb dish which was nice and hearty but nothing to cry home about, Service is fine for a busy night but waitress seems very busy handling multiple tables. They looked seriously understaffed in these post pandemic times. The bar is always busy. Not sure I would come back since the crowd is too much for me, Weekdays may be better.

Very nice lunch

By beachhead1961 |

My wife and I had not been to Cookshop since 2006. Yesterday we stopped while walking through Chelsea. We were lucky to get an outsider table for two and while we just ordered burgers and beer, the food and service were great.

You will not be disappointed! Go here!

By GinaDoo |

This place made our stay in NYC. We stayed at the crummy, expensive hotel next door but being able to pop in here a couple of times a day kept us in our happy place! Over 4 days, I think we ate here 5 times. We got an assortment of different dishes each visit and all of them were exquisite. So much thought goes into these delicious concoctions. Really just perfection in dining out. The atmosphere is great too and the staff feels like family by the time you leave. The menu changes up seasonally so it will do no good to tell you what we had but if there is a beet salad of any sort with goat cheese, go for it! We will be back for sure, once we find a different hotel in the Chelsea area to stay in!

Yummy brunch!

By AirSchis |

We met a friend here for brunch on a Sunday based on recommendations and reviews. We were not disappointed. We made reservations well in advance which is necessary given this place was super busy. Good ambience and a spot busy with families, daters and friends. The menu has sweet and savoury choices although much more savoury dishes. There is gluten-free as well. Many choices for drinks as well. Our server was competent and timely. Our food arrived relatively quickly and the one sweet dish and two savoury dishes were excellent and decent portion sizes. We will return.

Good quality food - We love farmers the motto

By Sabrina S |

Great choice for a simple lunch but with quality ingredients (chicken, burgers, salads, etc.). Try the pancakes, delicious and plentiful! Friendly staff, nice and clean local. Try it if you are in the HighLine area ... We love farmers ;)

We used to like it

By Alizeh HR |

I pretty much come for brunch every Sunday and have to say the last few times they've made me and my husband wait for an average of 10-15mins past our reservation time (I always make a reservation). This last time the wait time was approaching over 15 mins by which time we decided to leave as it didn't appear that we would be seated any time soon. The hostess was unapologetic as we told her we had decided to go elsewhere. I guess when you are that popular you don't need loyal, returning customers.

Great dinner after a long day

By walter1612 |

Long day of sight seeing in the city. What’s next? Dinner. A friend of mine recommended this place and while it’s a bit out of the way - it was an awesome experience. We were seated right away, the staff was extremely friendly. The sommelier shared with us a wine from the Baden region in Germany which is home for me. Loved the oysters. Couldn’t believe how flavorful the Porchetta was. Outstanding! Bread pudding for dessert was the wrap for the night. We may be going back on this trip!!

Sunday Brunch

By Kari S |

We tried several menu items and each was better than the next. The winners were the brunch cocktails and the salted tomatoes. OMG, so good. Atmosphere was perfect and everyone was very friendly. I'd go again in a heartbeat.

Good but not Great

By Caroline S |

My husband and I are frequent visitors to NYC, for both work and pleasure. Trying different restaurants is something we enjoy while traveling. Placed in comparison, Cookshop was literally good but not great. The ambience was lively; the staff were friendly and upbeat, there were a lot of patrons, and the Chelsea location was great. The scallop dish and the lamb dish were fine; they weren’t bad, but they weren’t delicious. The things that bumped the review from a 3 to a 4 were the attentiveness and friendlinesses of the waitress and the tasty dessert, the triple chocolate cookies paired with salted caramel and vanilla ice cream.

Excellent food, airy modern atmosphere, sort of goofy service

By Anne C |

This was our first visit here and we came for breakfast. I love having breakfast out in a restaurant since it makes me feel like it'll be a happy, hopeful and special day! There aren't enough restaurants that serve breakfast, according to me. We have wanted to try Cookshop for some time. When we arrived it felt both cozy and open and airy at the same time. The fall pumpkins were there but not overwhelmingly precious. Our server was very enthusiastic, but it turned out she was also fairly forgetful and kind of disorganized, requiring us to remind her about things like getting us the coffee she promised. The food was terrific. I really loved my egg and sausage sandwich, which was a fried egg and house-made sausage, potato hash and a really nice jalapeno-cabbage slaw on a brioche bun. Balance is everything in any sandwich to me, and this one nailed it. It was just the right amount of spicy, fatty, crunchy, zippy, and eggy. If the service had been more on-point, this would be a five-star rating. We'll definitely be back to try another meal here, next time hoping that everything rises to the level of the food!

Good Experience Good Food Great Waitstaff

By DawnousAtl |

We walked in for an early dinner and were seated right away. Our server was one of the best I've ever had - very attentive and the restaurant is very accommodating. Whatever they do to train their people should be spread to all restaurants. The food was very good with bright, unusual flavors. The vegetables in particular were superb. Wine list was adequate. They allowed me to have a half glass! The prices are very reasonable.

Excellent for Locals and Visitors Alike

By Allie Gone Away |

Exceptionally well curated and staffed, this fun American restaurant will please almost anyone. Vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free patrons can all find a good meal alongside their meat and bread loving companions. Prices are not cheap, but the food is well-portioned and high quality.

friendly and sweet waiters

By Resort763992 |

I came in the restaurant only in order to buy a piece of bread since I was sick. I found friendly and sweet waiters that gave me a kind of pizza in the better way possible. (I went there in the afternoon). I think I would came back there also for the dinner!

Terrible Service

By Judy A |

We went there on a Friday morning for breakfast. We were seated right away and that was the last decent service we got. We ordered lattes, which didn't arrive until they 20 minutes later when they finally brought our breakfast. The food was average. I ordered eggs and bacon - nothing special. The eggs were fine. I asked for crispy bacon and the bacon I got was flabby and undercooked. I had to ask twice for some hot sauce to put on my eggs - why wouldn't they offer it when they serve eggs? We would've ordered some more coffee but it took so long for the first cup we decided not to. I ordered a $6 juice and they charged me $12 (to be fair, they corrected that mistake). All in all, Cookshop was a huge disappointment. Maybe we got bad service because we weren't the young, hip clientele that Cookshop is used to catering to. Whatever the case, the food just wasn't good enough to excuse such lackluster service.

One of the best brunch places in nyc!

By loustyle |

Everything perfection. I’m glad I googled best brunch in nyc….cuz it really lived up to its billing. It was busy, so they likely don’t need my one review to help them, but I highly recommend cookshop. My friends and I will be back.

Farm to Table in Chelsea

By mookie61 |

Great farm to table restaurant in the heart of Chelsea. The staff is very cheerful and happy to explain the extensive and very casual) menu. The is ample outdoor seating-which in some ways is a little nicer than the very loud inside seating area. Vegetarians can easily steer clear of meat.

Lovely location, healthy lunch

By Lisa H |

Just had a great lunch here, highly recommend the market salad. It’s a lot more filling then you might expect, enough for a meal. Service was great and when I asked him to surprise me with a non-alcoholic drink, it was delicious. They have a lot of shaded outdoor seating and it was easy to watch the people and enjoy the city scape.

This was Excellent

By conradusa |

From the service to the food and atmosphere this restaurant was fantastic. The menu is built on food that is sourced locally and fresh so the menu changes daily. I had the Char (fish) which was perfectly. The drinks where fun and unique. The brussel sprouts were crispy and delicious. Roasted cauliflower was was also on point. Save room for desert, there are really fun options to share or dive into. (Mini chocolate peanut putter bars, frozen) . They even make their own donuts.

Excellent and Inventive...Crazy Story

By Peter S |

Crazy story. We stayed downtown and split up in the AM- me going to Chelsea cruising art galleries, while my wife and daughter went to a show. By chance, I ate lunch by myself at the bar at Cookshop, and the service and Huevos were excellent. Very nice day. My daughter was in charge of dinner reservations. Ironically, she had chosen Cookshop. 2 subway stops away, and totally random. So I went twice in one day. Dinner was fabulous. My wife’s vegetarian cassoulet was one of the best veggie dishes ever. My daughter got the Arctic Char and raved. Great nite. Only downside is that is it busy and loud. 5 stars for me.

Happening spot for breakfast, pricey, but the food & service was excellent

By dolphin80 |

Came for Breakfast on a Saturday morning after doing a quick Yelp search for breakfast spots in the area. Reviews trending towards good, so we decided to check it out. Walking up, they have a large outdoor area, and we did see some tables available, but there was a chill to the early morning air, so we decided that we'd sit inside. While the place was hopping and full of people, there was no wait for my wife and I. The sat us at a small two top table in the middle back of the seating area. Our waitress came over fairly quickly, and got our coffee and juice orders...which came fast, then we put our food orders in. The menu is simple for breakfast, with a bunch of options. My wife was just looking for bacon and eggs, so the option that fit her was the 3 baked egg dish, that came with toast and I believe bacon. I like to be adventurous for breakfast and saw that they had Huevos Rancheros on the menu, so I opted for that. The dishes here are pricey, but you do get a decent amount of food. My wife couldn't finish her eggs, but my Huevos Rancheros was another thing entirely.....I enjoyed and relished every bite. It had the right amount of spiciness and toppings on top of the eggs. Would have been nice to have some toast to sop up the plate, but it didn't come with any, so you may want to consider ordering a side of toast. So, ambiance was happening, the service is good, food is excellent, and yes, the prices are pricey. My wife and I, including tip, dropped $65 for coffee & eggs.....buy hey, you're in NYC....in Chelsea...so what do you expect? Highly recommend this place.

Breakfast and Lunch were very good!

By Sax_Doc |

We stayed nearby for a night and had lunch one day and breakfast the next. Great staff! Very pleasant and helpful. The vibe is fun. The food was really good. The menu has enough for everyone. Great Bloody Mary!

Clever Cocktails & fresh delish brunch

By carrieul |

Great choices for everyone in your group in this treat of a place off a quiet street (and near the High Line) in Chelsea. We shared an order of beignets at the start. 4 to a serving. For brunch, I had the zucchini frittata which was perfectly prepared and a nice fresh option. 2 in our group had huevos rancheros and it was so good. Served in the dish in which it is prepared. Generous portions and great brunch cocktail options!

Great place for a nice lunch

By Cheryl E |

Great lunch. The salad with Kale, chicken and walnuts was great. My nephew had the soft shell crab and is from New Orleans and said it was very good. Very nice clean atmosphere.

Crowded with a limited menu

By Libby C |

Although our food was well-prepared, I can't say I was wild about the chicken sandwich I was served or the items my family ordered either. I also felt like we were practically at the same table with the diners next to us. My pet peeve is restaurants that serve tab water in very small glasses and then leave you with a bottle to continue to pour your own. Why not just give me a large glass and let me ask for a refill if I need one?

Brunch Again and Again

By holchick63 |

I have dined here three times for brunch and each time they have outdone themselves. The pastries are a perfect starter. I have had the french toast and gluten free pancakes both times OUTSTANDING!!! You do not even need syrup. We dined once with a big table after the NYC marathon and I think we ate the entire menu! You have to make a reservation to secure a table....this is a must and even then you will wait a bit but remember---it's going to be so worth it!

Love love love!

By C.Howe |

I just went here and I can't wait to go back! They allow dogs if you request sitting outside and they may be the most-dog friendly restaurant ever (they will bring your pup water and treats). Beyond that, the staff was just so lovely, the food was incredible, and the drink list was a perfect mix of wines, beers and cocktails without being overwhelming. The prices were very reasonable for the food quality and being in the city. I believe my salmon dish was about $24 and my cocktail was about $14 (pretty standard). If you have a gluten allergy, fear not! They will make you gluten free toast so you don't need to skip out on the bread basket. While there menu is not marked with gluten free items, the staff is very well informed and can adjust anything.

Worth the wait

By JB5445 |

We had a 45 minute wait for lunch because it was Memorial weekend and fleet week in Manhattan. The food was superb. Service was excellent. We had almond pancake with a fantastic lemon curd. The egg and sausage sandwich and the hamburger were both terrific. Worth the wait. The manager was on top of everything

stopped for brunch

By zaurayo |

great place, super busy amd we didn't even have to wait long for a table for 4. super friendly staff, great food and drinks. a little pricey but atmosphere was great for kids and adults. the gluten free almond flour pancakes were the best pancakes..ever(not pictured ate too quick) lol.

Outside Patio dining was delightful

By Scott B |

I would eat outside if weather permits. We did and it was delightful. When we left at about 7:30 pm the restaurant had become very busy inside and was extremely noisy! Our meals were pretty good but nothing to write home about compared to other equally priced meals we’ve had in NYC. Our drinks were good but I’m not accustomed to the $10 beers and $16 wines that we ordered. Don’t look for much cheaper. Our total bill for 4 persons was around $250 and we did not have any appetizers or desserts.

Good fun, great value, ‘clean’ cooking

By ColonialBoy99 |

Is ‘clean’ american cooking noteworthy? If you are jaded with fried everything, then try cookshop. Busy, fun and enjoyable. Fairly limited menu and wine list, but works well.

Best breakfast...ever!

By aairg |

Went back to Cookshop for brunch after a visit in January and fell even more in love with it! From the delicious crumb cake starter that satisfied our morning sweet craving, to the perfect coffee that just makes you want to linger all morning, to what ended up being the absolute most flavorful breakfast I have ever had (poached egg cilbir: do your taste buds a favor and try it - order the chili oil on the side if you’re not too tolerant of spice), this place was the perfect brunch experience. Excellent and friendly service with a great, vibrant NYC brunch atmosphere! We will keep coming back for more.

Farm to Table Fresh in NYC!

By scuba6 |

I came to Cookshop with my friend who is a former Chelsea/Meatpacking District resident and said it was a ‘must eat’ for one dinner during our visit….It did not disappoint! We had reservations which I think are important on Ava Friday evening, especially if you’re looking to dine after 6:00. There is indoor and outdoor seating and we reserved for outdoor and enjoyed the sidewalk ambiance…outdoor dining is covered with heaters and blankets on chairs for cool evenings. The drink menu is decent and the wine menu absolutely expansive. The food menu has something for everyone whether vegan, vegetarian, meat lover, or pizzas/pastas….while not too expansive, there are decent choices and the food is great! I’m not sure if there are options for kids or a separate kids menu available…If going with kids, I’d check ahead of time. We started with an appetizer of roasted asparagus as well as drinks and ordered a pizza, two salads, and the trout to share. All were delicious and so, so fresh! While Cookshop was busy on this night, our service was quick with frequent check ins by our waiter. Located near the High Line, it’s a great location with shopping and some other nightlife nearby. If you’re looking for food with a ‘vibration’, this is a place to try!

Loved it! So yummy.

By Prisca W |

Kind, funny staff (we had Jarvis) and incredibly sophisticated food with familiar but otherworldly flavors. Highly recommend!

Great brunch spot on 10th

By Lyndsey B |

My husband and I had an early Saturday brunch here and it was very good. We didn't have a reservation but they were happy to seat us inside. Within an hour the restaurant was completely full so come before 11AM if you don't want to wait! I had the egg and sausage sandwich (the sausage patty was incredible) and my husband had the baked eggs, both great choices. Our server was super friendly and attentive without rushing out us despite it being clearly busy. Great brunch spot in this area.

The Best

By sovta |

Wine, beer, good food and excellent service made an ordinary afternoon into one to remember. Four friends enjoyed delicious sandwiches and The Market Salad.

Great meal

By lucycan |

Single traveler. Found this place by accident walking the high line. Menu looked great. Lots of outdoor seating and great people watching. I had the soft shell crab appetizer which was excellent. The lamb two ways entrée was stellar. Nice wine and cocktail list. Great service!

Summer Friday lunch!

By SDS769 |

Left work early on a Summer Friday and was planning to have lunch at another restaurant in Hell's Kitchen. Unfortunately, they were overwhelmed with customers because of World Pride weekend and were woefully understaffed. So, we hightailed it out of there jumped on the bus and grabbed a reservation at Cookshop. After a 5 minute wait for a table we had a great, leisurely lunch. Highly recommend the brisket sandwich, vine bean "frites" and the grains and greens salad (spinach, kale, pickled beets, lentils, brown rice, quinoa, cilantro and a poached egg). The cocktails were amazing - - Smokey and the Fuzz (Evan Williams bourbon, lemon, honey, peach bitters and campfire mist) and Highline Paloma (blanco tequila, grapefruit liqueur and fresh lemon). Amazing, friendly service!

Best French Toast Ever!

By Glamourjet |

This is obviously a very popular breakfast/brunch spot and we were very keen to try it. The French toast with roasted apples and candied walnuts was fantastic and the coffee was real espresso coffee rather than filter. The atmosphere was buzzy with lots of young executives having meetings. The only thing which was a little disappointing was the service. The restaurant was very busy and they seemed short staffed and it took much too long for our coffee to arrive. We had finished our main courses by the time the second coffee was delivered.

Great brunch

By JimBmore57 |

Great Huevos Rancheros Great Gluten Free Pancakes Good Sausage Egg and Cheese sandwich Nice, clean, modern restaurant. Crowded, but rightly so

Fabulous

By MosheA1964 |

What a nice surprise! From the outside it seems like the most standard Cafe but nothing standard in their food! All dishes are special and delicious Light dinner (after the "sleep no more", also recommended), Burratta mozzarella with roasted eggplant Tomato soup Eggplant lasagna (a lot of eggplant in the menu) All 3 dishes were fabulous And fair price Highly recommended! I wish I could give 6 stars!

Amazing food.

By Diamond261957 |

Loved this place. Excellent service, nice setting and outstanding food. What a wonderful evening with good friends!

Awesome Dinner Experience.

By Rich F |

The food was incredible, and our server, James, made the evening delightful. It was a bit loud, however.

A fabulous dinner near the High Line

By Portland_OR_USA |

We booked outdoor seating and it was lovely, quiet (for the city), and in a convenient spot close to the High Line. For dinner we way over ordered but I don't regret it for a minute. • Oysters with shallot mignonette • Deviled eggs with marinated smoked bluefish (this was the only thing we didn't love but obvi that would be a risk.) • Chilled half lobster w fries and spicy aioli • Grilled corn on the cob w herb butter • Heirloom tomato salad. • Seared scallops with roasted corn lime and purslane Everything was well balanced, perfectly cooked, solid portion sizes and absolutely delicious. The highlight though was our server Lauren. She gave us great (and honest!) advice, was kind, just the right amount of attentive, and funny to boot. A perfect evening. Don't miss this place.

Thank you, YB

By BBBBTravel |

Well earned rating. Enjoyed entire experience. Greeted well, wonderful server, food lovely and tasty. Perfect. Hope to return.

Very nice

By Lila P |

Really lovely meal. Good service, tasty food and nice choice of wine and beer. The ambiance was lively and we had a nice time. My partner enjoyed it less than me, but this is my review and I really enjoyed the food.

Amazing Experience

By RochelleSonny |

Are you looking for the best organic food, a lovely setting, and great service in West Chelsea? If so, you need to visit Cookshop! I was fortunate to have the wonderful host team seat me at my requested corner table. My waiter, Daniel, served me a delightful mocktail with blueberries and honey--it was so tasty, and I highly recommend it! We started with delicious appetizers, including beautifully presented deviled eggs. You must also try the focaccia bread; it was incredibly fresh and yummy. The highlight of the meal was the burger. As a huge burger fan, I can confidently say this one does not disappoint! I loved the blend of meats, and the French fries were perfect--Daniel made sure they were prepared without cheese. :) For dessert, the apple crisp was amazing, especially with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. We also enjoyed an incredible chai latte. I will also say our waiter Daniel was extremely attentive, knowledgeable and made sure all of our needs were met. I really appreciate having a great service experience, it makes the meal so much better! Everything was perfect, from the service to the food and the atmosphere. Thank you for such a wonderful experience! We will definitely return soon. :)

Dropped in from High Line walk

By Resorteye |

This great spot is just a block east of the High Line Trail at W. 20th St. We had no reservations and only wanted drinks so we were given a high table next to the host's stand. This was perfect! We wanted something quick before getting back on the trail. They have a great menu and servers. Kelsey brought us two mixed drinks and a plate of melting, seasoned cheese stuff pitas. The rhubard-ginger shrub and the professor's pale negroni were just what we needed to kick the spirits into high gear. We will have to go back sometime, with reservations, for a full dinner. The choices looked fabulous!

So consistently good.

By suecassel |

We had eaten here a few years ago, and the food remains consistently good. This time we had a brunch, which was delicious. The update on the interior from our last visit really opened up the place nicely. We’ll be back sooner rather than later!

Delicious Food - Energetic and Relaxed Vibe

By BorderTerrierMom2 |

When I’m in NYC’s Chelsea district, this is my favourite place to eat. The food and drink options definitely please and the staff are friendly and helpful. This visit I loved my deep fried asparagus to start (we ordered a second) and the lamb burger for my main... delicious! It’s a popular spot, so best to make a reservation.

I’ll NEVER go back!

By Mary B |

My daughter made a reservation for 5 of us on the patio for an early dinner on June 26th. They placed in the only spot on the patio where the sun shone down mercilessly. There were other tables in the shade. When we asked to be moved, the manager came out and told us that the sun would follow us wherever we sat. It was miserable. Finally, after some of our food had been delivered, my daughter chose a table that had been continuously in the shade and obviously would never be sunny, and had us moved there. We never saw the manager again. Our waiter was wonderful and tried to mitigate the nastiness of the manager. The food? Who could tell? my grandchildren enjoyed the trout. They are teenagers; they enjoy anything with calories. Everything was relegated to mediocre by the tainted experience. We could have been seated at the table where we finally settled the entire time; no one else sat there. If not for the personal mean spirited behavior of the manager, I would not have been given the opportunity to write this review. I cannot recommend this restaurant.

Wonderful place- delicious food and great service

By Karen Savage |

I saw Cookshop on a list of brunch places and made a reservation. It wasn’t crowded when we sat down but filled up quickly. I see why it’s on the list of brunch places. Many fun drink options (I didn’t try the frozen Paloma but want to go back and have one), including a delicious and very spicy Bloody Mary. Based on our very friendly and helpful servers suggestion, we both had the huevos ranchero. Quite tasty. Spicy and good mix of crispy tortilla strips and eggs and sauce. And big portion! We added the bread with jam, butter and olive oil. Love the bread and the char. It looked so good the table next to us ordered it too! The desserts sounded so good we went back the same night for some apple crumble and soft gingerbread cookies. The buttermilk ice cream on the crumble was amazing. Perfect compliment to the hot, crumbly, cinnamony apple crisp. Service was great! Our server was so nice and gave us recommendations for other places to hit for drinks. A great neighborhood restaurant with delicious food and fantastic service.

Great restaurant in the Chelsea/downtown area

By Kirk E |

This was our first experience at Cookshop and we loved it! Every course we ordered was absolutely sublime and fresh. The entrees and sides are perfectly sized for our tastes, but if you enjoy having buckets of leftovers, you might opt to go elsewhere. Considering the superb food quality and portion size, pricing is excellent for NYC. Mike was our server and he was attentive, helpful, friendly, and efficient. This is a great finding in the downtown/Chelsea area. We were very pleased and would return without hesitation.

Excellent Dinner

By Tony P |

Walked by on our way to the highline for a coffee. Checked out the dinner menu and immediately booked a table for the evening. Great Manhattan cocktail to begin with. Best in NY all week. Service was excellent and range of main courses was just right.

Fresh ingredients will keep you coming back

By Mary W |

I ate dinner here with a friend. The freshness of the ingredients will tempt anyone to come back again and again. Although there was limited choices of food, what was offered on the night we were there was enough to satisfy our cravings.

Good food, good service and good outdoor dining facilities.

By packedandready2go |

I had the falafel sandwich and others had the chicken salad all of which were delicious. The service was friendly and efficient. It is located in the Chelsea district very close to an entrance to the High Line walk. Very nice outdoor dining facilities.

Checks all the boxes...again

By SkyKingBoston |

In for lunch while attending a conference at the nearby Javitz Center - two of us from out of town plus our two Manhattan hosts. This was my third visit in three years, and this place nails it every time. Reservations recommended as it's pretty much jammed all the time. That said, as busy as Cookshop is, the food, service and splendor are always top-notch. This place is consistently on its game, and knows how to satisfy discriminating palates in a casual, friendly, and efficient manner. Cocktails and beer to start; the bourbon-centric selection off the specialty cocktail menu was off-the-charts excellent. We started with shared empanadas and burratas...both outstanding. All four entrees were proclaimed excellent; my seafood burger especially so. It was a nice combination of shrimp, scallops, crab and whitefish. If you share an order of fries, as we did, be sure to dunk heavily in the house-made ketchup and mayo. I had to skip coffee and dessert because I had to scramble to Penn Station, but I noticed the others enjoyed receiving their Espressos in a heartbeat. I continue to highly recommend Cookshop. My NYC favorite!

A delightful meal in Chelsea!

By Joe N |

Cookshop delivers outstanding food and ambience every single time. It is simply a delight to dine here and with a seasonal menu that highlights seasonal produce, you are treated to a unique experience every visit. I can't recommend this place enough.

Love this place and going strong

By Peter C |

Haven't been here for a few years but went in to lunch today and sat at the bar. This food is what I really enjoy - farm-to-table - and healthy and tasty. We had the roast chicken with a great salad and the falafel burger. Nice wine by the glass list - a rose from Campania and a Portuguese white. Little out of the way but near galleries and worth a visit.

Bustling. Lively. Great Menu

By Kevin K |

I stayed in New York for four days and ate 3 times at the Cookshop. It is right across the Street from the High Line Hotel and from the 20th street steps to the High Line. They serve breakfast lunch and dinner. I liked Cookstore a lot. They have a varied and interesting menu. The service is great. The prices are very reasonable for New York.

Is being popular enough?

By NewYorkCityVictor |

Cookshop is apparently famous as a hang-out for art dealers and well reviewed, but the restaurant has a strange way of greeting one. When I turned up with a reservation at brunch and requested an outside seat, I was denied one because my guest hadn’t yet arrived. When she did five minutes later all the outside tables were taken. The very young hostess apologized and explained it was a management rule, but not one she agreed with. After being assured that the $ 16.00 fish tacos were delicious we ordered them but were disappointed in the rather modest size of the two placed on our plates without even any limes or hot sauce. Ever heard of starving artists? Perhaps art people prefer to go home hungry?

Delicious lunch, bright sunny dining

By Mary Anne E |

We really enjoyed spending our lunchtime at Cookshop, before strolling down the High Line and visiting the Whitney Museum. There were four of us and we each enjoyed our meals very much. I had the Shrimp Salad (which I just tried to look up the menu online to double check the ingredients and price and either what's posted is old, or they've recently changed it.) It was delicious - I posted a picture below - with perhaps 6 large shrimp, a poached egg, cherry tomatoes, steamed potatoes and a light vinaigrette. The price was a bit steep I thought at $24 (the menu online has the shrimp salad at $19, which made me think it's not up-to-date.) One of our party had the falafel sandwich and enjoyed it, another had the grains bowl with farro and thought it was excellent, and the third had the smoked chicken sandwich and also enjoyed. So all in all we had a very nice lunch. Perhaps it's been a while since I dined out for lunch in Manhattan as the bill without any drinks came to $79.48 and then we had to leave a tip of course! When you're with people you love and enjoy a good lunch, what difference does it make in the end! I would recommend it, but be careful with the prices on the online menus.

Great food and atmosphere.

By LB1KONOBI |

Rolled of the high line and found this place across the street. It was excellent. Boys had burgers and I had the mushroom sandwich which was fab. Great service and our last meal in NY before heading to JFK. Great setting and atmosphere….well done.

Highly enjoyable meal with a few close friends. Enjoyed traditional brunch food after a visit to the High line.

Preload for the Highline Walk!

By Adrius42 |

Perfect place to grab a great Brunch and walk it off on the Highline Park walk with an entrance 256feet away! Tip: Sit at the bar, our barman was brilliant and we got quick service for both drinks and food! He even took our photo for us!

Crowded Hip Popular Brunch Spot

By Radiate2357 |

Cookshop is always crowded on weekends. People flock here for good reasons. The restaurant has good menu, pleasant dining environment, and efficient services. What more can you ask? While food here is mostly done properly, it does not really have original stand out items and consider how limited the menu already is. So you can say 'everything is tasty' while you cannot actually pick something out to give it a prize. Anyway, this is an excellent place to meet with friends, family, and enjoy quality food. What more can you ask? Maybe just an easier reservation system. Opentable usually shows this place is booked solid. You can certainly call the restaurant directly and most likely they can accomodate you. However, there is a two call system. The restaurant will call you and ask you to confirm a day earlier. It is a bit annoying in this internet era. Maybe too many no shows prompt the change, who knows?

Delicious

By Maria F |

This place is very busy you may have to wait but people don’t seem to mind. I think every plate here must be Delois is so well presented and tasty. A little pricy for breakfast but again people don’t seem to mind. So if you already for some good food with family and friends definitively try it. It is a little crowded and noisy, but enjoyable. We have huevos rancheros, Sullivan bacon, potato hash. Good cappuccino also. Enjoy.

Spicy and not worth the money

By Jack Abel |

Fi ve of us had lunch there today. Four of us had fish tacos. They were not good...spicy, small and I have had better at Mexican restaurants. My wife had a salad and it too was way too hot. Had coffee and it too was not very good.

Great Halloween Breakfast

By Catherine W |

After being welcomed by a male Snowwhite on this Halloween morning, we ordered poached eggs on a sweet potato hummus and a “grains and greens” salad with coriander, it tasted both original and great. The waitress was helpful and friendly. I have been several times there and was never disappointed.

Great place for a group!

By Sweetpea616 |

We met a group of friends for dinner after strolling the HighLine on a beautiful summer evening (okay, rain was in the forecast but the evening was still lovely). The location of this restaurant is great for that and we all easily found street parking. We were seated exactly on time for our reservation (note, our group on 8 needed a call to the restaurant rather than a reservation thru Open Table) which is a rarity. Our server was excellent. Our food was served promptly but not rushed. We shared appetizers including a small cheese plate with honey and toast, deviled eggs, crab toast (my least favorite) and totally yummy squash blossoms. For dinner, I shared the lasagna (very rich) and the scallops with my husband. I am glad that we shared because the lasagna was really really rich! Others loved their sea bass and chicken. The sides of Chrisp potatoes and grilled corn were yum! The place is NYC loud and friendly. We really enjoyed it. We will go back

West Chelsea standby

By KPC7 |

Busy place with friendly service. Try for a booth in the back. Crispy brussels sprouts and are a favorite. Chickpeas with broccoli, cauliflower, sweet potato, and roasted apple also good. Highlight is the Kentucky coffee sundae with peanut caramel and popcorn!

Absolutely wonderful!

By Feeee |

We visited this beautiful place for lunch today. Excellent service, friendly front of house but most importantly, delicious, fresh and very tasty food. There is a great menu and interesting drinks list. I'd highly recommend Cookhouse. We'll be back!

Exceeded my expectations!

By Anne O |

We went for brunch, and let me start by saying the ambiance of this restaurant is modern and fun. The menu had unique meals, that were great for an adventurous eater or a picky one. The service was beyond nice, and I will definitely be going again soon!

Great spot in Chelsea

By trm1745 |

Great experience recently for lunch and then, later, for late night cocktails. Food and drinks were excellent and fresh. Friendly staff. Reasonably priced. Lively but not too noisy.

Nice brunch in Greenwich Village

By Helen Stanger |

Recommend this place for brunch before a walk along the High Line. Very good food and service. Recommend booking as it gets busy.

This time, service was excellent and some of the food was excellent and some was just good

By Anne C |

This was our second visit to this restaurant. The first time we had uniformly excellent food but not-so-great service. This time we had truly superb service but some of the food was tremendous and some was just good. This visit was for dinner on an unseasonably warm Saturday night. The place was hopping, including outdoor seating. This restaurant tends toward the loud side of things, fyi, I assume because of the acoustics of the dining room. The restaurant obliged us in seating us even though we arrived early for our reservation. Our server was spectacular! Even though she was super busy she paid attention throughout our meal and never forgot a request we made. Other staff were great too -- what catapulted the service in my estimation was when somebody, without us asking, dropped off more grilled bread pieces when we were about to run out of the few that were accompanying our liver mousse. Love that! The beverages were deelish -- we love the ginger lemonade. I also liked a beet juice concoction (it was such a big glass of it that I couldn't even finish it). At dessert, I had a really terrific cold brew coffee (chocolatey overtones). Our appetizers were also fantastic -- we love the aforementioned liver mousse and also really enjoyed the radishes with butter and salt Hubby's pork shop and my ramp pizza were good, but did not rise to the level of the appetizers. Neither did the lemon curd ice cream or the rhubarb sorbet -- good but not great. We generally like this restaurant and we would most likely give it another try, hoping that the third time they can get both their service and food to be excellent together!

Beautiful Breakfast

By MrsB |

We stumbled across The Cookshop whilst walking to the High-line and decided to have some breakfast. We sat outside and ordered the anyway eggs and toast - was delicious as was the coffee. Kind attentive waiter and thorough enjoyed our late morning breakfast - would definitely recommend. I saw someone having the pancakes and they looked delicious.

Lamb Burger was Absolutely Fantastic

By AmirLoves2Travel |

Great service. Ask for Mike. He was delightful. Incredible food. I devoured the Lamb Burger. My wife enjoyed her Ginger Lemonade. Their Bloody Marys look amazing. Should have ordered one as well. Our boys shared the Brisket. I wish we had one of these in Los Angeles. Definitely a great place for brunch or lunch if you are in the NYC. 5 Stars Cookshop. Nice work.

First Timer... YES!

By 6453nsider |

I'm visiting from Portland, OR. Got a tip from a work friend about Cookshop. Had an opportunity to visit and took it. Was dining alone so headed to the bar but it was full. Hostess offered a table and away we went. Great view of foot traffic on 10th-I mentioned i was dining alone. Menu was small and seasonally specialized. Good start. Ordered the Chilled Tomato soup and Tuna in "burst" Yellow tomatoes". Yes a little tomato heavy, I guess, but eating light was in order. Soup was sublime! Hint of mint and a great cucumber relish. So simple but great. Tuna was cooked perfectly- I'm a rare fish person- and the tomatoes were perfect summer fare. Everything came together perfectly. Only gripe, which I mentioned to my server, was missing bread to dip into the amazing juice from the tomatoes/tuna...miss by the kitchen. Can't say enough about the service from Morgan. Pleasant, informative and super helpful during the entire meal. A+ . I mentioned to her that I was planning to move into the area and she wished me luck in finding a place and brought me a delightful mint chip ice cream sandwich as a "welcoming" dessert. Top notch all the way.

Nice brunch

By stuart appleton |

Visited for brunch after a walk along the highline. I had Eggs and polenta. A wierd combination but wow was very very tasty and I would 100% eat again. Good service amd was busy although way out of Time Square so always a good sign.

Wow!

By tineshchhaya |

A short walk away from the High line walk found us in the Cookshop restaurant. We had The Farmers daughter to drink and the Grains and Green salad. Both were absolutely out of this world for flavour, texture, warmth and taste. So much so that we got the recipe for the salad 😊 The service was excellent and we were really well looked after. If we had more time we would have definitely come back again. If you happen to be near the 10th and or on the High line walk - jump off and make sure to visit this place! Great job Cookshop! 💐

Great brunch

By Bob O |

We had a great meal on an outdoor table on a beautiful sunny afternoon. The menu was wonderful - lots to choose from.

Great breakfast

By lkay444 |

A really lovely breakfast with my two young children. Delicious huevos rancheros - possibly the best I’ve ever had. My eldest son also loved the chocolate chip bread. Great location in walking distance of the High Line - oh and toilets very nice as well!

Pleasant

By Luca |

I happened to dine here with some friends and a New Yorker South Korean girl, who suggested the place. Cozy inside, we were immediately welcomed and taken to our table, and for the whole evening we had the same waiter. I would not recommend chicken, but vegetarian dishes were great (despite served in small portions). Only one inconvenience, the young man who served us spilled my glass of water all over my pants whilst serving my friends.. what in the heaven's?? Told him he was handsome enough that he could save his apologies ;)

Chelsea Brunch

By MKJourneys |

Highly rated restaurant in Chelsea. Indoor and outdoor seating with large bar at entrance with more seating. Atmosphere has a good relaxed feel. Service was very pleasant and prompt. Food was a mixed bag- Egg sandwiches were great while the Huevos Rancheros believe it or not was missing real flavor and the $8 toast was cold. Note- it’s really weird that the bathrooms access is right next to the kitchen. ??

The waiter made our experience great 👍

By Kirsty T |

Fab atmosphere, great knowledge of the food from our amazing waiter Josh. He will be the reason we have a return visit someday soon. Highly recommend xx

NICE RESTAURANT IF YOU'RE IN THE NEIGHBORHOOD

By doug100worth |

Good restaurant if you're in the neighborhood. Nice service. Very noisy which may account for people sitting outside. I had artichoke lasagne and it was good. Dale had a pork roast that was extremely fatty so she returned it (almost never returns anything) and then had to wait while we all ate for her entree to arrive. We were here as a group of 5 friends so that made up for everything.

Well worth the trip.

By Lori G |

It’s been a while since I ate here - pre-pandemic for sure. It was solidly good - service very good. I had lamb 3 ways over bulgar and peas. Was good altho bulgar was a little toward cold rather than room temp. Had a great string bean tempura appetizer. Cocktails always shine.

Fantastic breakfast, cozy surroundings

By Monika R |

Great breakfast, fresh flavors, a good mix of indulgent and healthier options. Definitely try the beignets!! Head here after a walk down the Highline.

Delicious and fresh farm to table with superb service

By katiepenney |

We had dinner on the patio at bookshop. The food was outstanding. There were three fish options and we tried all there - each was cooked perfectly with light but flavorful accompaniments. The vegetable sides were excellent. The service was superb, including blankets for our legs and heaters. The whole experience was terrific, and we will come back.

amazing food, but not too much for choose

By Jorge Zambrano |

AMAZING FOOD, totally gourmet, you will eat food that not other local have, Riquisima la comida, unica, especial, comida que no encontraras en otro lugar

Love Cookshop

By BeauCoop |

Was here a couple of years ago and had to return on this trip to NYC with my millennial children. The beignets are fantastic and we just loved the poached eggs, French toast and broccoli/egg scramble this Sunday. Menu changes occur, but the result is always wonderful. And, to top it off, their coffee is the best!!

Attentive service, decent but underwhelmed food experience

By SteveTravelTime |

Our waiter was great, very attentive. I will say from all the reviews on various websites I was expecting a bit more in the food experience. We started with the hummus with naan bread and another appetizer which was heirloom tomatoes The hummus was decent but nothing I could not have picked up at the grocery store for a fraction of the price. The naan bread which came with it was fresh but covered very heavily in salt and seasonings which I had to scrape off. The tomatoes were decent but I was told they were at the peak of season, honestly I had better tomatoes as a side dish with burger at a restaurant for lunch the a couple days before. I decided to cut my looses and rather than order an expensive entree that I would just order the veggie pizza. It was pretty good but honestly tasted like it a bit too much salt had been added to try and bring out the flavor of the veggies. Nothing horrible about the food, just expected more the. Grocery store quality hummus and tomatoes and veggie pizza laden with excess salt.

Awesome but a little over priced

By Jojomonroe |

Love this place, the staff are Absolutely fantastic and the atmosphere is perfect. We had a great night and although the food is definitely worth going for its quite pricey for the small size you get (we all had a fish dish) . Would definitely go back but suggest you check the prices first and be aware that you might leave hungry!

Exceptional food, service needs more improvements

By Marc A |

I actually ate multiple time in the last two week at this excellent restaurant located in West Chelsea. The menu is varied and they use only local growers. The noise level is very high, ask for an outside table which is much better. If you want to get a table you will need to reserve. The restaurant has many locals and not as many tourists as one would say or think. The front staff is very good, the wait staff it is like the lottery.

Finest food in NYC

By colm9944 |

Excellent front of house and service. Top quality fresh food. Possibly the best I've ever had in the city. Plenty of choice on menu and reasonable. One of those restaurants you will keep going back to.

Excellent food.

By anorth52 |

Very friendly service. The food was very good indeed especially the fish. Only complaint was that my side order arrived after I had finished eating my meal!!

Lost its charm

By julesofthesea |

Ridiculously noisy. Food is pretty ordinary. Not like it was a few years ago. In general, NY food is becoming millennial/ tourist generic. Similar menus. It is still possible to find great places, but this one is no longer on our list.

Sunday brunch

By Arthur J |

Enjoyed a relaxing and tasty brunch despite very busy day and time. Server was helpful and attentive.

Slow service and overpriced

By rupert m |

we attended on a tuesday lunchtime the pate tasted a little old, and the toast was very hard the pizza was mainly crust and little filling the fish burget was under seasoned and the bun stale understand that its farm to table, but carrying commercial brand drinsk still gives the customer choice.

Good brunch with good food and very gracious wait staff

By frankhoustonTexas |

First they honored our reservation. We arrived at 11:00 am on a very busy Sunday but we had reservations and were seated almost immediately. The server was friendly and knew the menu well. The food was delicious and I thought it was very reasonably priced . I will definitely return when I am back in NYC. Location is short walk to Chelsea market and short walk to the high line. Definitely recommend.

Meh.

By Elfma |

Recommended to us by locals. Convenient to High Line. Great people watching from sidewalk tables. Server seemed put out to take our order, fetch our wine, refill water...Food was meh, dry burger, limp fries. Points for reasonably priced and imaginative lunch specials, like half a lobster in the shell. Will return, suspect our experience was a one-off.

A wonderful and special evening

By Terel |

This dinner was the highlight of our NYC trip. Wonderful fresh salad with goat cheese topped crostini which had unexpected and lovely notes of orange. The deviled eggs are exquisitely presented. Pizza crusts are airily light and wonderfully crisp with just enough chew and the grilled ramps were perfect for a spring dinner. The individual apple cake was just warm and freshly baked and served with a quenelle of lemon curd that was the best I have ever eaten - and I love me some lemon curd! We arrived 5.30ish on a Monday night when the restaurant was quiet and had one of the 2 very comfy corner banquettes that are perfect for a couple. The space has a modern clean airy feel. Our server, Luteba was genuinely lovely and went out of her way to ensure that we had the most special of evenings. She did this by appearing only when she knew she was needed and developing a relationship with us throughout the night. The sommelier was charming and her recommendation was spot on and from a tiny California vineyard - just the experience you want with a special dinner. Thank you Luteba for making our last night in NYC one that we will always remember.

Delish!!!!

By UrsulaD604 |

A friend recommended this favorite spot of his to me. I wanted to order all of the sides as my meal (!) but recommend the brioche french toast, with a side of scrambled eggs and don’t forget the rosé spritz! The service was great and so is the atmosphere. There is an outdoor parking lot across the street if you drive to the location and can’t find anything on the street. It’s a decent size lot but it’s NYC so you know there’s a fee.

Just average

By ObserverGuy |

Very popular place but I think it was average. My oven baked eggs had pretty raw whites. The bacon wasn’t crispy, kind of chewy. Other entrees were average. Coffee was weak. With all the choices in NYC, I’d look elsewhere.

Great breakfast!

By Karen T |

Wonderful service from Ms Marie. Food, decor & ambiance perfect!! Close to the high line and Hudson Yards.

Great Dinner; Great Service

By drosen85 |

Fantastic dinner at Cookshop this week. Beginning with exceptional service at the bar while waiting for our guests to arrive (creative cocktails, smart bartender) and then on to a long and enjoyable dinner. While our late guest got later and later, we dove into a number of starters; all great. The brussels sprouts, the beets, the oysters were all outstanding. We all enjoyed our entrees just as much. I don't eat meat and there were plenty of options. A great vegetarian pizza, multiple salad and vegetable sides as well. My companions each had fish and loved their meals. Service was outstanding and we felt right at home. The hours went by and we never felt rushed or wanting for more from our servers. Overall, an outstanding experience and highly recommend.

A family lunch

By virginie g |

A very good experience, the staff is very nice. The original and varied menu salad, burger, sandwich, fish. A beautiful discovery, close to the high lane and Little Island. I highly recommend!!!

Great food, reasonable prices for NYC

By Doug C |

In a recent outing into the city, gave this place a shot. The food was so delicious, especially the shoestring fries. Only negative I could think of was I got full and had to stop eating. Our server was cheerful and helpful in answering menu questions.

Went there for an appetizer

By Michelle360 |

Went there for an appetizer mid day. It was packed and the hostess wasn’t really handling the line very well. Despite this the burrata was the best I have ever had. It had pickled beets, chives, olive oil and crisp baguette. Would go back just for the burrata (and not at night unless I had a reservation).

Great food great vibe

By christine a |

Busy bustling place with great food and great atmosphere. Would recommend a trip here if you are up that way. Can be a bit drafty sat near the door.

Delicious lunch stop

By RGRV |

This place was recommended in our travel guide and it did not disappoint! Great service and delicious food. And for once not the ridiculous size portions that many American eateries deliver. Highly recommended! We had fish tacos and the green salad.

hip and happening but also delicious

By KaySCee |

Definitely try the weekend brunch, but lunch during the week is always good too. Close to the High Line, and the Whitney.

Cornmeal pancakes and the huevos rancheros

By Lee A |

My husband read online that the cornmeal pancakes and the huevos rancheros were the best. So he ordered one and I ordered the other. We each ate half and then switched plates. They were SO delicious--especially the pancakes: so light.

Friendly, tasty open late option

By azad-musafir |

Too late for the meatpacking district we headed to Cookshop as it was still open. Given it was a backup option we were not expecting the tasty food, great vibe and great service we received. They offered us an inside table. We requested outside and though they had to rearrange, they obliged. Service was efficient and friendly and the food and drink tasty even though the menu was a bit sparse. Still I enjoyed the Bloody Mary and loved the burger. This appears an underrated place given the attitude and food at some of the more known ones. Definitely worth a visit or few.

"Brunch" on a weekday

By RAponteParsi |

Very good breakfast menu. We had the Cookshop Breakfast (two fried eggs, Lancaster grits, applewood bacon, breakfast sausage, buttermilk biscuit, butter & jam). I am not a big fan of grits but the lancaster grits are amazing. Also try the Sauteed Spinach & Goat Cheese Scramble (caramelized onions, mixed greens, buttermilk biscuit). They have a good barista, the coffee was good. Nice walk in the Highline right after.

Calm before the storm

By Marcus P |

Met some friends here for supper and had a wonderful evening The manager once worked at the Glasshouse in Kew London and was very engaging and has a great base for his trade Service here was excellent as was the food The shrimp starter was lovely and had a nice tomato and peach salad. I don’t even like tomatoes but enjoyed this Main I had the pork and I asked for it to come pink and they agreed which is rare but good Came with a strange peach, cherries and strawberry salad Odd but lovely

Oh my gosh, Farm to Table and more...

By njwoodster |

Because it was close to our hotel, the High Line Hotel, we wandered over and got a very tasty meal and drinks. The food was delicious and the staff so very friendly and informative. We liked it so well, we went back for lunch the next day and were again totally bowled over with another great meal.

Interesting menu in a cool environment

By Mike H |

Lively place with a good vibe. Good selection of cocktails. White bean soup and the pear and beat salad were delicious. Will definitely go back.

Bar & Restaurant

By StephenCross |

Cookshop is a restaurant and bar on 10th avenue. It’s Michelin star quality. Outside and inside dining and a separate holding bar area.

You will wait, even with a reservation

By Anthony P |

Bad out of way first: 25 minutes after time of reservation, seated Good: quality and quantity of meals So, best to turn off your ambitious mindset, if you have one, or, just book it 30 before you expect to be seated. Kind of like what I used to do to ‘trick’ myself and set the clock 15 minutes later, then be presently surprised!

COOKIN’ AT THE COOKSHOP

By 1Trippermonth |

Enjoyed a delightful Sunday breakfast at the Cookshop. The pancakes with corn meal were light and tasty served with a side order of house cured bacon. If you prefer a poached egg sandwich, then this is also another good choice. The vibe was true New York, busy with a constant buzz of conversations and upbeat music on the background. First time won’t be the last time.

Handsome food, outstanding service

By Poetman |

Some would call this a hipster hang out, but not really. There's a nice mix of people from the local neighborhood, Chelsea, and it is a relaxed place with a comfortable vibe. It's a little trendy, but mostly just nice, attractive food and some excellent waitstaff. Was especially impressed with our waitress. She was attentive, fun, and made the experience of eating there a great one.

Fresh fruit and veggies galore!

By MuseumStoreShopper |

Loved it so much I went back the next day to try more. Went with a group the first night, and in spite of a variety of diverse food restrictions amongst our party, the menu offered enough choice to satisfy everyone. Sometimes when traveling and eating out a lot, meals start to seem heavy and overly...well, just too much. But here, the focus on seasonal, local foods makes a good basis for dishes that feel indulgently delicious but are also healthy and fresh. The menu offers some familiar basics and some creative twists (I particular loved the sweet corn hummus with rye crisps). The recipes seemed very attentive, like the chefs simply like their food and are attentive to combinations and flavor. Entree portions were generous, both appetizers and entrees made easy sharing, and let us taste a bit of everything. The cherry pie dessert was killer...so good! Service was also excellent. Staff were patient with our group and generous with food info. The second night we ended up lingering particularly long, and everyone was very gracious. Thanks for fabulous dinners!!!

Buzzing local close to the High Line

By Johnny V |

A buzzing favorite for locals and tourists alike Cookshop serves lots of very well prepared, exceptionally generous portions of in season food. Lots of comfort as well as a decent selection of healthy bits. The service is friendly, knowledgeable and fast and never rushed.

Thanksgiving Feast

By Toni S |

This was our second Thanksgiving dinner at Cookshop & we were quite impressed by their pre fixe menu. I chose the butcher block as my starter & was able to share with others in my party. Opted for turkey & stuffing for my entree & was quite pleased by the taste & portion; shared again. Sides were quite plentiful & very tasty. For dessert I chose the pecan bar with ice cream; so yummy & delicious. Cookshop exceeded our expectations once again.

Good

By Mandy H |

Food was good. Service was good. Atmosphere was good. Drop coffee was terrible! Worst $4 I ever spent.

Brunch

By AlphaDelta2912 |

After walking The High Line we came off and dropped into Cookshop. It was a late Sunday morning and very busy. We were quickly shown to a table and ordered the Egg and Sausage Sandwich and pancakes along with juices and coffee and tea. Very cook service and food in a very busy environment. Only issue was having to wait in a long line for the individual bathrooms.

Great Place for Brunch

By Bordentown Guy |

The Cookshop is an admirably professional operation. The food, the service and our drinks were excellent. Though bustling, the atmosphere is pleasant and the noise level more than manageable. Not surprisingly, the restaurant is hugely popular. Reservations are essential

Interesting Offerings

By InTheMomentManhattan |

Cookshop offers a slightly different menu than standard restaurant fare. The menu is not huge but very diverse. Service is accommodating. I enjoyed the organic semolina pesto pasta as an entree And "Foccacini" starter. Both were quite good. My wife also liked her very stylish Caesar Salad Cookshop offers a very inviting and pleasant ambiance.

Delicious

By Mimi |

I always wanted to visit this restaurant and believe me it didn’t disappoint at all! Loved the breakfast here. The poached eggs cilbir was incredible and the huevos rancheros to die for. We had bloody Marie’s too, if you’re not the type of person that likes a lot of alcohol in your drink ask for less (loved it that way, my husband is a heavy drinker and he thought is was too much ((the normal one)) so the less alcohol option was best for me). Highly recommend this place. Can’t wait to visit again.

Birthday dinner at cookshop

By John T |

Two couples wandered in from a walk on the highline. It was too hot to walk and we needed a break. We had a few excellent cocktails with the bartender, who was great. We decided to have dinner, and it was fantastic. Food, service, atmosphere: all good. We will be back. Get the lamb burger.

Excellent lunch destination

By DavMag |

Was recommended Cookshop by a friend. Visited on a busy Friday for lunch. Seated at the bar, the staff were all extremely friendly, knowledgeable and happy to talk through the various offerings across food and drinks. Decided upon a local beer and grilled chicken salad. It was exceptional. Great quality chicken, perfectly cooked with a chimichurri dressing. Green beans, kale, cucumber, greens and radishes in a wonderfully light dressing. A triumph. It was so good I visited the next day. Can’t wait to go back next time I’m back in the city!

Beautiful and busy!

By MohamadNizam |

A very nice experience in NYC! Food is great and the ambiance is amazing. You have to wait a long time to get a table, but it is worth it and you can go for a walk in the neighborhood. The Burger was delicious. You can go for a coffee after your meal at the Highline Hotel.

Terrible service

By Syed N |

Don’t expect any service. Booked table with Missy and when showed up with our 2 young kinds they said they had to give to someone else….let me repeat…they just gave it to someone else….and asked us to wait 40 minutes….either they have no manners or pure racist….no remorse or sympathy. Horrible restaurant.

Deilicious, fresh, well prepared!

By Elizabeth S |

Reservations recommended especially if you want outdoor seating. Everything is from local farms, fresh, very well prepared, service good. Only complaint is that the coffee was luke warm. Didn't bother to complain as it was busy and the rest of the food and drinks were excellent.

A bit of a Wait, but the place is worthwhile waiting for.

By A V |

We went on a Saturday morning after touring an Art display. The service was great, the menu while some will say limited had enough choices to satisfy most tastes. The selections of specialty cocktails for brunch did not disappoint and were substantial. The food was above average for the area, fresh, well prepared and the presentation of the food by the chefs and the wonderful staff was excellent. One negative, the music was a bit loud where it was difficult at times to hear across a table of Six I would definitely recommend to anyone who may be in the area while visiting. The locals already know it’s a good choice for a brunch.

Start to finish, delicious and enjoyable

By Elko11 |

I am definitely going back to Cookshop. The team from the front desk to the wait staff could not have been lovelier. The food though.... so, so good. I haven't fallen in love with a first course salad in a while, but let me tell you, the Castelfranco & Escarole Salad was plate-lickable. Not a real word, but it suits the salad. Main course for me was a vegetarian choice, BAKED RICOTTA GNUDI (slow cooked mushrooms, mascarpone, grana cheese, nutmeg). Insanely decadent and delicious. I forgot to mention my pre-meal cocktail. I usually drink wine but Cookshop makes a really good cocktail so I had the Manzanita Spritz. Not really recalling what was in it but it was good. Even the bread they serve is great. The restaurant is in Chelsea, easy to find and offers very nice lighting (not too bring, not too dark). Just an A+ joint, highly recommend.

The perfect brunch

By Gilad Greengold |

What a great brunch! Food was delicious, service was excellent, atmosphere was exactly what we are looking for in a restaurant. We loved it! We had the Burrata as a starter, and it was delicate and really good. The toast, however, was a little blant and boring, but it wasn't so bad, as the cheese itself, together with the olive oil and roasted vegetables, wes fantastic. We also had the scrambled egg, which was generous and very rich, and egg with sausage, which felt like a hamburger, but was really good and tasty. The place was full when we arrived, so it would be wise to book a table, especially for that Sunday brunch. Staff was very attentive and you can tell they treat their guest with respect and appreciate their business. Together with the great food, this make the Cookshop a wonderful restaurant!

Absolutely excellent restaurant!

By Trip711795 |

We enjoyed an outstanding lunch at Cookshop this week. Everything we ordered was delicious. The service was excellent also and we will return as soon as we can! We would not hesitate to recommend it to family and friends. It is conveniently located near Chelsea Piers and The High Line.

Great brunch

By fremont5 |

We were very happy with our brunch at Cookshop. We had 5 adults and a 1 year old, everyone was very accommodating. We had the baked eggs, lots of flavor, the venison sausage and the egg sandwich. Everything was super. Service was excellent, noise level was loud. We would definitely return.

Unbeatable Brunch

By TravellerGirl2009 |

Returned to Cookshop for another fantastic meal. The brunch here really is great with a diverse menu of savoury and sweet options. We had the heuves rancheros again which are just amazing. Highly recommended.

Great concept, poor execution

By MattModine |

This is a lovely and very busy place that has a great concept. Seasonal ingredients for a farm to table approach to food. For appetizers we had excellent shrimp, cucumber and radishes. My entree (and reason for only 3stars) was a vegetarian dish that i had high hopes for - pizza with ramps. Unfortunately, poor attention to precious and short lasting ingredient (ramps) left many things desired. Ramps were namely just sliced and placed on pizza dough. They should have been precooked to develop all of their flavors. Dish also had no salt including the dough.

Sunday brunch on the Patio!

My wife and I recently visited NYC. We were looking for Sunday brunch spot, and the reviews from Cookshop did not disappoint. We made a reservation online via Open Table the week before arrival. We arrived about 15 min early, got a table outside, with no wait. We had Cold Pressed Green Juice, Gluten Free Almond PanCakes and Lamb Burger PLUS a side of Sullivan County Bacon. Everything tasted great, and the people and pet-watching from our table was perfect.

Perfect Brunch!

By LindaTours |

We made a reservation for Sunday brunch since they are extremely busy on the weekends. Service was excellent without feeling rushed. There are lots of different choices on the menu whether you want to eat healthy or splurge. We tried the green juice (heavy on celery flavor), orange juice, a burger, a Dutch baby and an egg and sausage sandwich. Everything was very good, highly recommend, plus it's in a great area of Chelsea.

Fantastic!

Just had a delightful zucchini pizza, which was light and airy and oh so tasty, at the bar. Great service, fantastic food and John Lewis’ portrait presiding over it all. Stellar experience!

Always a great experience

Cookshop never fails to deliver. They are always packed and for good reason. It is well worth the wait if you don't have reservations so don't be scared off by the crowds. The interior is quite large and they really work hard to accommodate people, and they somehow manage to do this without rushing anyone through their meal. I've been here for brunch, lunch and dinner and the food is consistently outstanding. The drinks are also very well-made and inventive. Better yet, the service is always warm and welcoming. I'm not even a local, just a frequent visitor to the city, and James at the bar always remembers me. These personal touches mean a lot. I always see the bar staff calling out regulars by name, shaking hands and even hugging people. The hosts, the servers and the kitchen staff are consistently friendly and warm, too. Cookshop is a neighborhood place that actually feels neighborly! You'll feel like a regular even if its your first time. If you go for brunch, try the french toast. Always delicious and the portion is shareable. They always have a good variety of offerings for lunch and dinner, so different dietary needs are easily accommodated. If you like to people-watch, ask for a table outside. The bar is also a great place to enjoy a drink or a meal. I highly recommend Cookshop and will certainly be back.

Food was lovely just be careful if you have an allergy

By Inspired30 |

This was a lovely find just off the high line and I would eat here and recommend the restaurant. Food was absolutely delicious although unfortunately I had an allergic reaction to the sauce on my meal despite telling the waitress about my allergy. Next time I'll make sure I don't order any red food as I'm allergic to tomato and all tomato based products

Great brunch choice

We came for brunch and thoroughly enjoyed the food and ambiance. They aren't breaking any molds with what they are serving, but the food is well executed and delicious. The staff is friendly and attentive while never making us feel rushed. Pass on the beignets, get the buttermilk biscuit instead. Definitely get the frozen paloma!

A fabulous meal off the High Line! Superb service and food!

We had a wonderful meal at Cookshop. Our party of 5 was looking for a last minute dinner before attending a cocktail party. We let the waitstaff know we were on a tight time schedule and they expedited our order. They were very accommodating and could not have been nicer! Food was delicious. We ordered the deviled eggs appetizer, and lobster, swordfish, meatloaf, and scallops for entrees. Drinks were fabulous, too. Best Paloma ever, and delicious expresso martinis! Thank you, Cookshop!

Great restaurant where you can watch the world go by

Great food, great atmosphere and sitting by the side of the road you can watch the world go by in NYC!

A great atmosphere and trendy spot

Delicious food at a trendy restaurant in a great spot. Menu is quite expensive, but it is in NYC. Recommend the steak and the lamb burgers.

Find somewhere else

Waited a half hour to sit in a shed on the edge of 10th St. across from the restaurant to eat. Food was good chicken salad was tasty. Pass on the Cookshop burger. Burger is kind of dry and Fries were nothing special. I would not go there again, it’s too bad I was really looking forward to the atmosphere experience that I saw on the website within the restaurant. They really need to remove these sheds now that Covid is over.

Trendy meets comfort food

Deviled eggs, pea soup (with yogurt for a twist) and and brussels sprouts for the the comfort seeker - lamb chops or pork chops for those who want hearty, and pita with dip or burrata for a medditeranenan start. Great patio, bar area or dinkng room. Casual or chic - you will fit in.

Great evening

We didn't start of well, I missed our turning and walked a couple of blocks too far so we were a little bit late (we did call), there was no issue with us being late and were given a couple of seating options, we had a great waiter and we discussed beer options it had been a long rushed walk! Our waiter gave us plenty of time to make our choices and enjoy our beers, we had the radishes and tempura squid to start delicious , then followed it up with the Lamb belly and the NY Strip, I throughly enjoyed the strip it was beautifully cooked my wife enjoyed the lamb, it's not often that we stretch to dessert but as the food had been so good we went for it, I had Ice Cream pistachio and my wife the Almond cake both very good. We enjoyed the meal with a bottle of Primitivo . This was such a pleasant eating experience I have not hesitation in recommending it, relaxed great service good food, what more can you ask for

Consistently Delicious

By sommerjd |

We live 2 blocks away and have dined here at least 6 times in the past 10 months. The food is always ample and delicious, the service efficient and friendly, Plenty of shaded outdoor dining in good weather. The menu changes a bit regularly, but the chimichurri crispy potatoes are consistently excellent. Terrific rotisserie chicken and excellent fish. A can't miss proposition.

Parker says "Great vibe but food comes up somewhat short"

Nice vibe with very nice staff. Brisket sandwich was dry and sparse, but the add-ons were really good. As was the salad and the fries. Good spot for a quick lunch.

Ordinary food, great service

By Kella |

This highly hyped spot is very over rated on the food....nothing at all out of the ordinary. The room is very attractive and the service warm and efficient.

Great food, not extremely clean, and staff okay

By Nate |

The food was amazing and the place was very crowded! Very trendy. Not a good location, since so far west, but still huge crowds. Staff was okay, but slow. The plates were pretty dirty and not up to par with the rest of the restaurant. Overall, great, though.

Great Brunch Spot!

We really enjoyed the restaurant. It was bright with a great atmosphere and vibe. We had the Huevos Rancheros which were very good. Next time I'd ask for the eggs to be soft as the yolks were hard - but I never requested it. Good coffee and juices and great menu! Will be back!

NYC Must

Between service and quality, I absolutely make it a must to come to Cookshop ANYTIME I am in the city.

Great Service, Vibes, & Food!

By Mom’s Jams |

After a stop into the art gallery, #NicolaVassell, we hopped in just as the rain clouds were about to take hold up above. It was perfect timing because the sky opened up but we felt nothing but a cool breeze from underneath the wide awnings outside. The kiddos and I throughly enjoyed the squash blossom pizza and the burger w/ fries which were on point! Great service, vibes, and food! Happy 🌈 Pride!
