We visited Copinette on a recent Saturday night; we are certain to return. 1. We liked the management team a lot—the owner, the chef, host, bartender, and wait staff. 2. The cuisine was terrific. We shared the crispy tortellini, we each had the sea bass, and shared a 3-scoop sorbet. 3. Bartender is solid, try the Gene Hackman cocktail, commemorating his scene in the movie “The French Connection”, which was filmed at Copinette’s predecessor, Le Copain. 4. We like the space as well. Layout, big windows fronting First Ave, and the the “three lips” paintings on the far wall.

We met our niece for drinks and dinner at a cozy little restaurant on 1st Avenue called Copinette. It was early and the workday crowd hadn’t arrived yet but in post-Covid Manhattan things, soon became crazy. Restaurants erected small “shacks” for "outdoor dining" on the street and In between was a green painted bicycle lane with electric bikes, hover boards, motorized scooters, etc. that can move at up to 45 miles per hour. Both patrons and wait staff were constantly in fear for their lives as they crossed the “green belt.” But on to our dinner. We each ordered a different appetizer and shared coconut shrimp with mango bruschetta, pan-roasted scallops with a truffle puree, and crispy tortellini filled with a ground pork, beef and veal combo and bathed in a creamy lemon zest sauce. Johanna’s main course was a truffle risotto with mushrooms and parmesan cheese. Arlee had the lobster risotto flavored with green peas, cherry tomatoes and scallions. I had the Pistachio Dijon crusted Rack of Lamb with parsnip puree roasted cipollini, green beans, and drizzled with lamb jus. We could not resist the desserts. We decided to share. Johanna voted for the Warm Chocolate Brownie with vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce. Arlee, a chocoholic, went further with the Trois Chocolate, a three-layer mousse cake with white, milk and dark chocolate. I just went along for the ride. We thoroughly enjoyed the embrace of our French girlfriend (Copinette), with an American menu and a French twist.

Went for a weekend brunch/lunch. Not terribly hungry, unfortunately, so ordered the arugula salad - size was perfect and it was absolutely delicious! My husband & his friend got eggs benedict and truffle omelet, which were also enjoyed. Friendly staff. Will go back if in the area. Highly recommend!

On a blustery cold day, we stopped in for a happy hour drink to get out of the cold. We were instantly given a warm welcome from the gracious owner, Amy, and Arturo, the manager. We got a seat at the bar easily. Costin, the friendly bartender, made me an incredibly interesting customized white cosmopolitan with St. Germain, finished off with a floating orchid on top. Then another bartender with a bright smile, Marina, recommended a full-bodied tempranillo, perfect for a winter day. The happy hour appetizer menu offered a great variety of items at reasonable prices. Actually, the entire menu was fairly priced. The food was fresh, tasty and delicious. Can't wait to go back and further explore the extensive wine list.

When this place first opened up a couple of years ago, we had a terrible first experience. Great food, but the rudest waiter I ever met. The manager made it up to us in a fantastic way that more than compensated on our next visit. But it was still very expensive and tried to be too many things. Fast forward to post-lockdown outdoor eating and they are fantastic. They have simplified the menu and made it much more affordable, and their staff is always courteous and efficient. The food is great, crowd-pleasing fare, and the atmosphere is even kind of festive these days - considering you're dining out on First Avenue. And that same manager who made things right? Still doing great work - highly recommended!

Ordered a Risotto with truffles... what they placed on my table was a tasteless rice puree, I could not even see the rice grains ir was like baby food. Also ordered for our table ravioli, there we of the same quality that any ravioli one can buy at the supermarket in a tasteless sauce. The only dish that was properly prepared was the Branzino. The waitress did not make an effort to explain the menu nor she went out of her way to be pleasant, although the was correct at all times. They gave us a piece of bread at the beginning and that was it, no more bread. My daughter ordered a Brownie w/a bit of ice cream, a very small piece for $ 10 ...also out of a supermarket box. Recommendation, spend your money somewhere else or at least in a place where they know how to cook

Horrible food. Indifferent service. I have never had bronzino as fishy as the one served. The polenta on husband’s dish was hard and and not well flavored. Dinner. Restaurant Week. Will never go again.

Wonderful experience! Food value for money. Food was excellent (fish i had) and the welcoming as well as service was great. I am looking forward going back to this place. We sat outside which is s nice experience although inside tables ect look very inviting.

My steak was excellent and cooked to perfection, my wife loved her shrimp risotto. Excellent wine list with some good French wines. Friendly and efficient service.

A colleague and I have chosen Copinette for our weekly lunches because the restaurant is close to our office. The place is rather elegant though simple and friendly, food is nice (with several healthy options, which is a big plus to us) and staff are always very kind. Overall, good value for money. I look forward to going back after the holiday season. I recommend it!

The restaurant is conveniently located in Midtown East. You can feel the relaxing atmosphere when you enter the refined dining room. The venue offers American cuisine with French Influence. We had Burrata Heirloom tomato and Kale salad as appetizers, chicken Cordon Blue and Pan Seared Branzino as entrees, Sautéed Spinach and garlic mashed potatoes as sides. Everything was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. We didn’t miss the desserts. The kind waiter offered us to try the Peach Melba and the Warm Chocolate Bourbon. They tasted so delicious in combination with a peach Margarita and Eros Spritz.

We all had just gotten into NYC and went for a walk. We looked up places and they had reservations in 30 minutes we made them. We did arrive 10 minutes late however they were very accommodating. We all just got burgers (pretty good, not sure if it was worth $20 but it is NYC) and ordered a crab cake (very very small for $16) 3 burgers one small crab cake and sparkling water=$92 Overall it was good, I am just not sure if I wanna go out of my way to go back here with all the options in New York City.

The spot is perfect; we were in a private room upstairs with our own very clean and nice bathrooms. You could not hear goings on from outside the room. Service was impeccable. Food was excellent.

Really excited for a new place in the neighborhood. But unfortunately, we will not go back for two reasons - the food, most importantly, and then the noise level. While my halibut was quite tasty, the minuscule and basically just lettuce salads were not at all worth the prices, and my wife's chicken was so over-cooked and dry that it could barely be eaten. As for the noise level, while I understand that restaurants like noise because they are looking for a 'vibe' to the place, this made conversation at our table difficult and unpleasant. On the bright side, the place is attractive (needs some fabric to absorb the noise though) and the service was pleasant and attentive.

On the evening of 12 March 2024, I dined at Copinette Restaurant and seem to have lost my wallet/card holder there. It slipped from my coat pocket. I went to the restaurant the following morning (13 March 2024) and asked to view the CCTV camera footage. On the camera roll, a waiter is seen picking up something from the floor and putting it in his pocket as I left. At this moment, the restaurant manager blurted out "See that". She later denied having used this phrase in relation to the waiter's actions. She also denied the existence of the footage and continued to show me other footage, presumably from one of the other CCTV cameras in the room. I would have been content with a statement on how she would investigate the footage and get back to me. I would have informed her that he could keep the $100 and just return the cards. This list of items in the wallet included my State ID, 2 credit cards, apartment access card, medical insurance ID, and $100 bill.

We organized a reunion of school friends here long distance and could not have been more happy with this occasion. The restaurant is so attractive and all the staff is lovely, while the menu is contemporary and interesting. The food was just delicious- salads beautiful, great bread with sandwiches, and nice wines. This is a place that cares about good ingredients. Some of our folks also had some of their perfectly gorgeous desserts . Prices were reasonable. If we lived here, we would be regulars!

How lucky we were we that our dear friend treated us to a lovely dinner at Copinette when we visited her in New York. The restaurant has a whimsical décor with indoor and outdoor seating. Their menu is quite extensive; offering delicious Italian dishes. Nina, our server, was very friendly and attended to all of our needs. We ordered a bottle of Simi Chardonnay – 2021 Sonoma – a very drinkable and crisp wine. For the table, we shared an order of Fried Calamari with a marinara sauce on the side. The calamari were perfectly fried – not greasy, just crispy. My husband and I shared an Arugula Salad that had pears, walnuts, and blue cheese with a delicate maple champagne vinaigrette dressing. It was so fresh and delicious. Our friend enjoyed one of her favorite dishes, the Chicken Caesar Salad, which was huge and loaded with romaine, hard-boiled egg, and crostini topped with Caesar dressing. My husband enjoyed Shrimp Scampi served over a spinach risotto; dressed with a creole lemon garlic sauce. I was in heaven when I saw that they had a Truffle Risotto dish. It was perfectly done - arborio rice, mushrooms, white truffle oil and parmesan cheese. It made the angels sing. For the sweet ending, my husband savored the Warm Brownie Sundae - vanilla ice cream, chocolate, and caramel sauce. Our friend raved about her sorbets: raspberry and mango. Andrew, the owner, stopped by our table to welcome us and shared stories about his family, his restaurants, and his vacation plans. We really enjoyed our evening at Copinette!

Coming here for years as it never disappoints. Nice staff- many menu options, pretty place. We come as a couple or with friends and everyone raves about the experience.

We had the tasting menu for food week and it was delicious. Every single item was amazing. There was a small group with a singer and instrumentalists playing which was nice. Very attentive and friendly service. The tables are a bit too close together.

We went to have our Sunday Brunch and ordered Bloody Marys to start with, After that a Crab Cake Benedict and Smoked Salmon Club. Both were very fresh and we enjoyed the dishes. A lot of good tasting crab and salmon with good dark rye bread. The fries were thin and crispy and the fried potatoes were very well made: They have some other good dishes on the menu and if we have a chance we will be back.

Delicious food and attentive service and unlike most NYC restaurants the tables are spaced well apart. This unit was empty for so long and it’s great to have a stylish French restaurant in this neighbourhood.

I must say onion soup is the best at their place! Also kale salad is very delicious! Ambiance is very cozy and relaxing!

We have been waiting to try this place; it is just a short walk for us, and we have been following some reviews and awaiting a time. Weather was finally a little nicer so we walked out and down, arrived early for our reservation with the intent of perhaps scoring a seat at the bar if one were available and eating there (quiet, low pressure, and usually worth the time to meet people). The restaurant was pretty empty and the bar was definitely quiet, so we sat down. The place is quite well appointed, with comfortable tables and chairs, and the lighting was well done. It's a big place. The bar is also quite comfortable and welcoming. I wish they had closed the door for us, however. Street noise can be overwhelming there. Bartender was awesome, talkative and offering good information and telling us about the place. Cocktails were good. I have a few litmus tests for restaurants that have these items on the menu (steak frites, bolognese sauce, caesar salad, tiramisu, and a few others) and they offered steak frites and the bartender assured me it was a star. My wife went with the halibut (also, we were told, a specialty). Salad before the entrees was very good; great dressing and not swimming in it, fresh vegetables and beautifully prepared. However, my steak frites was a thin piece of what was billed as NY strip; medium rare was actually tough to achieve with the thinness of the cut, although there was a little pink internally. Lots of gristle and fat. Actually the fries were very, very good. My wife's fish was okay, although the coating was very savory and pretty much killed the delicate fish flavor. Her sides were also good, but not memorable. We skipped dessert. Wine list is also quite good, and the variety is very nice. We opted for a Cab (recommendation of the bartender) that was very good and not too pricey. I think they are trying, and we will return. Hope to do a bit better next time.

We visited here on Monday evening as we staying two blocks away at Meilimium Hilton easy 10 minute walk along first avenue. The service here was excellent from start to finish attentive but not overwhelming. Drinks order taken specials explained and menu . Food came quite quickly even though busy I had stuffed pork chop huge perfectly cooked with veg potatoes. Others had pork & veal spaghetti boul very good . Deserts superb to cheesecake very good . Great fresh cooked food excellent service reasonably price for New York give it a go

Our family went to Copinette for dessert. One of us had dinner, the lobster linguini, which was a perfect portion and amazing! The rest of us had a variety of desserts which were all delicious. The presentation of dinner & desserts was beautiful. Service was prompt and very attentive. The ambience and tables were so tastefully done. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in midtown NYC. Worth a trip if you are staying in another part of the city.

Can I have my $100 back? This is a knock off of a "French" restaurant serving inedible food with poor customer service. My family and I were looking to have a nice lunch on New Year's Day and came across Copinette. What a mistake. Stale bread. A waitress wearing a sweatshirt. A ravioli that claimed to have butternut squash yet it was only tiny specks of canned squash. Two branzino's that must have been taken out of a package from China. Served cold with lumpy mashed potatoes. I have had quality branzino to know what it is supposed to look like and this certainly wasn't it. I do not recommend this restaurant to anyone. There's a reason they had seating on New Years Day. Waste of time and money.

A new favorite spot! Excellent food, great service, friendly staff Tried the blackened shrimp salad and the pan seared scallops and loved every bite. The cookie skillet is a show stopper! Will definitely be coming back

I was happy with the salmon I ordered but the items my friends ordered were very small. Service was great.

We stopped here as all the restaurants we knew in the area were closed. The service was fine and the menu was typical for brunch. My husband's breakfast was the usual eggs and bacon with home fries. I had a crab cake (made from boxed crab) with was okay, and sauteed spinach which was better. It was handy, quick and satisfactory.

Had a wonderful lunch here—bright and spacious restaurant with amazing food. Tried the burger and the smoked salmon club, which were both incredibly delicious. The staff was very nice and attentive, as well. We had a great time!!

The Turtle Bay Association held a 52 person Valentine Party. Excellent time head by all. Festive and delicious. Excellent, food, drink and service.

We wanted a place that had 3 walls during this covid time. We weren’t comfortable with 4 walls and just a window or similar for ventilation. This is why I choose this restaurant at first. It had spacious room (tables not on top of each other, again, didn’t want that during this covid time). Huge tent and heated. Andrew, the owner, may just be the best out there. He was so accommodating to our group. So very kind. The food was amazing! Very flavorful and something for every palette. And a great wine list. Great date place and for groups. It was FREEZING but we still had a wonderful time, amazing experience. Sometimes when I walk by, Andrew will wave and say a quick hi. Been back since and happy every time. Highly recommend.

Copinette food is fabulous! Be sure to order the warm goat cheese ball salad. Our group of 16 women enjoyed their upstairs dining area for our NYC welcome dinner.

We were not able to go to this restaurant, but due to their friendly customer service and not charging us a fee for not dining with them due to uncontrollable circumstances, the next time we are in NYC, we are definitely going to reserve another table.

Had one of the most delicious meals of recent memory here. Lots of fish options and a generous portion. And it comes with a good amount of side dishes unlike many NY restaurants, which charge you $30 for a tiny piece of fish and nothing else. Even the tomatoes were mouth watering.

Copinette serves consistently delicious food with lots of menu variety and the staff is very friendly and helpful. This is a very commodious spot all times of day. Highly recommend!

Hubby and I took a day trip to the city and we checked out this place for dinner. We ordered the truffle Burrata and that was chefs kiss 🤌🏽 Drinks were great and I ordered the Chicken Francese as the entree also great. Overall can’t complain!

Last night, my husband and I had dinner at Copinette, a friendly restaurant with excellent food near Beekman Place on 1st Avenue. It’s only a few months old, and we were happy to discover a pretty, contemporary place with a little elbow room on the site of the old restaurant “Copain” . The halibut with hazelnuts and mushrooms on a bed of asparagus was outstanding. The caprese salad was very generous - enough for two, and the burrata was delicious. The menu is not extensive but does offer a wide variety of dishes. We explained that we were short on time, and the servers cooperated with efficient and friendly service. (They happily accommodated my husband’s food allergy which is not always the case in other restaurants) The manager dropped by at each table to make sure everything was going well. We complimented him on the quality of the halibut and he said that he had a very reliable source for excellent fresh fish. Good to know for the next time we are there. The prices are reasonable for a good restaurant in Manhattan. Sorry not to have any pictures. I highly recommend “Copinette” !

Now open for a few months, my first visit to Copinette was a good one. The Burrata Heirloom Tomato app was excellent, and I greatly enjoyed the salmon entree (but am personally not a big fan of beurre rouge sauce so avoided it as much as possible). Apple berry crisp with vanilla bean ice cream is highly recommended. As a guy, the ambience / decor / story behind the restaurant mean less to me so I can't really comment on that, but the service was very good. Will definitely return!

I have been to Copinette quite a few times since it opened nearly two years ago. While it can be rightly classified as a neighborhood restaurant that serves the UN, Beekman, and lower Sutton areas of Turtle Bay, visitors to the city who are staying anywhere in midtown east would be well advised to make the short trek over to 1st Avenue. In my view it rates 5 stars because it scores so well in all the major categories a diner would consider: excellent food at a reasonable price; a stylish dining room with space between the tables; great service; and a nice wine list with perfectly fine options by the glass. To the left of the restaurant entrance is a wonderful bar area at the corner which is particularly appealing during good weather when the glass front is opened up. The bar attracts a nice crowd of sophisticated but not pretentious locals and is a great place to go if you are eating out solo. I really haven't been disappointed by any of the dishes there. Among my favorite appetizers are the arugula salad, the burrata heirloom tomato, and the crispy tortellini, the latter from a recipe handed down by the grandmother of one of the owners. As to the entrees, the steaks and the lamb are great, and if you enjoy the occasional chicken cordon bleu, as I do, this is one of the few places in New York to find it. And, when you are in the mood for an early dinner, be aware that Copinette has a terrific $35 prix fixe three course menu. What's not to like here?

I dare you to find a great restaurant near the UN. OK, there is the Tudor City Steakhouse, but their "About" that features "...a menu that not only showcases premium prime dry-aged on-site beef specialties but international dishes as well, reflecting our location across 1st Avenue from the United Nations" does not make me excited to send a link to friends, sorry, especially given the "Price per person" ratings of $50 - $100+. So, a little further away from the UN on First Ave. is this gem, which opened in 1945, with a menu showing French and Italian influences on American food, a a bit cheaper than you'd find in Tudor City. Two UN diplomats and I had a terrific meal and a bottle of Percorino ($50) here on a hot and humid Manhattan evening. My gluten-free Truffle Risotto (arborio risotto, mushroom, white truffle oil, parmesan cheese) $26, was wonderful. My friends raved about their dishes, and one made a reservation for the next night here before we left. Service was warm, friendly, efficient and quick. A real find.

We hosted dinner for 12 to celebrate my son and his wife's graduation with extended family. Our reservation was honored and our table was set up and ready when we arrived. The wait staff and owner were gracious and professional. Dinners and drinks were served timely with no issues and everyone seemed to enjoy their selection. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

On a recommendation form a colleague of my wife, we dined at Copinette. Glad we did. Both of our dishes, 'frenched" chicken and the branzino were excellent and very flavorful. The dessert, the apple/blueberry crisp was great. Only complaint was the service. Not complaining about our waiter per se as he was very helpful and took our orders promptly. guess my complaint is more with the restaurant management as our waiter seemingly handled multiple tables with very little help. Thus the intervals when we saw him were long, and the spacing between delivery of our dishes was overly long. And to get the bill took forever. But for this glitch would probably give the restaurant 5 stars. Overall would recommend; we plan to return when we go back to NYC in a couple months!

Copinette is a great edition to the neighborhood. After the closings of La Mangeoire and Cafe Joul, we have been longing for another good neighborhood restaurant. Copinette satisfies our craving. The lovely atmosphere, pleasant and attentive service and good food are welcome additions to the Sutton Place area. Copinette serves Continental food with a modern, French flair in cool surroundings. The 70’s music gives a nod to its iconic predecessor restaurant. The buratta/ tomato salad and carrot ginger soup were very tasty appetizers. The bacon wrapped shrimp appetizer was absolutely delicious. The house burger and fries were perfectly juicy and full of flavor. The shrimp entree was a tad over cooked, but still very flavorful with delicious accompaniments. The hand crafted cocktails are inventive, beautifully served (with fruit or edible flowers) and are excellent. The attention to detail and beautiful preparations add to the experience. The prices are refreshingly more reasonable than one would expect considering the ambiance, neighborhood and top notch preparations. We are fans of our new neighborhood gem, Copinette, and can’t wait to return.

Copinette was a great spot for our group dinner event. The semi-private space upstairs easily fit our group of thirteen comfortably. The restaurant staff were great to work with and accommodating of our requests. Thanks!

Really good food and pleasant ambiance. Good service. We came here for Xmas dinner and it was fantastic. You get a local/neighborhood vibe with regulars. Grilled Branzino was superb!

Nice atmosphere. Staff are very friendly. Food was very good. However, very few options for GF. There was no wait to be seated.

This restaurant is a safe bet if you're looking for a good dining experience at a reasonable price, nice atmosphere. The cocktails are good and we choose the prix fixe meal, one with chicken and the other with salad. Meats and vegetables were wonderful; butternut squash soup is great (not tart as one can often find), desserts were pleasant and portions were all moderate (which we enjoy).

You must visit this restaurant to get the full experience as my review won’t quite do justice. Request Emilio to be your waiter. Absolutely wonderful experience. Starts with the welcome and then the food. My three guests were thrilled with their perfectly prepared salmon and dinner salad suggestions. I had the lobster linguine and it’s as though the chef placed an entire lobster tail and claw in the delicious linguine and sauce. Very generous and highly appreciated. We stayed and enjoyed a wonderful conversation and none of the staff rushed us to depart!! They were so friendly and wonderful and made us feel like we owned the restaurant for that short period of time. Thanks again, Emilio! We shall return.

Excellent food; great service. Waitress was very attentive without being intrusive. Everything was fresh . For main choice I had Filet mignon with foie gras. It was WOW!!!!! Great place for dates, trendy environment. would definitely go back for dinner, drinks or lunch!

Great ambience and fantastic food. Loved the decor and the art on the walls. Decent wine selection. Service could have been better!

Exceeded expectations! I don’t even know where to start - the service, food, ambiance - everything was perfect. I recently held my Bridal Shower at the Copinette, and I couldn’t be happier. All of my guests loved everything about the restaurant, and it turned out to be the most perfect day ever. The food was so delicious, and the restaurant went above and beyond to make sure everything was executed perfectly. I can’t wait to come back to dine here again, and highly recommend it whether it’s for a weekend brunch, dinner or even a private party! Thank you again for making my day special!

Wandered in hungry and tired from weary travel day. Wisked to our seats with cheerfulness and attention. Good vibe, quick and friendly service, great food with nice presentation.

We went to Copinette this past Sat night for a 50th bday party! Our entire experience exceeded our expectations from beginning to end. It started with reservations for 8 people made via telephone long distance from Seattle to NYC prior to our arrival. The woman with whom we spoke was very friendly, helpful, and assured us that she was committed to making our visit as enjoyable and stress-free as possible. Upon arriving they knew we were there for a special celebration and needed to be out by a certain time to see a show. The bartender and the mgr were welcoming and engaging. Our waiter, Arturo, was second-to-none and despite having other parties going on at the same time that he needed to tend to, he went above and beyond to make our visit to Copinette a memorable one. He offered suggestions for menu choices, brought wine samples to taste which he then spent time discussing, and even gave us a bottle of champagne and 2 bowls of mini madelines (lemon zest cookies) on the house with our desserts. The menu is varied and more upscale than typical restaurants, but worth every penny! Everything was delicious!! Our appetizers ranged from Caesar salad and French onion soup to lobster tail and fois gras. Entrees: some of us ordered the special (Chilean sea bass over quinoa mixed with peas over a thin layer of lobster bisque), truffle risotto, 4 cheese ravioli, halibut, and NY sirloin steak. For desserts: chocolate bourbon cake w/ salted caramel ice cream, peach melba, and blueberry/apple crisp. Definitely recommend this place for an amazing, enjoyable evening out for whatever reason.

Staying just over the road from the Copinette so chose for convenience rather than known reputation. Was pleasantly surprised by the ambience and quality of menu and quality of food.

We visited here for dinner for our wedding anniversary and were very pleased. The restaurant itself has very good decor and has a lovely relaxed feel. The food was great and there was a good selection of wine on offer. I had the Arugula salad to start and the Filet Mignon as a main and both were delicious. The service was good and we didn't have to wait too long for our food. The prices are fair and good value for money, especially considering the quality of the food. We would happily eat here again and recommend this restauarant to anyone travelling to NYC.

Popped in for a light bite lunchtime. Bright and airy, friendly service and tasty food. I would go back for a full meal if in the area again.

What a fantastic experience we had here last week. A large group of friends for a memorable time, and a wonderfully prepared and served dinner. Making arrangements was actually fun. We were treated like we were the only ones there. The ambiance is calm and comfortable and the acoustics made it so we weren’t a bother to other guests. And the really important part, the food was prepared and served with style and delicious to boot. Thank you all at Copinette!
Good address
A warm welcome, fast and efficient service attentive to the customer, well-cooked dishes with quality products. An ideal location 5 minutes from the UN, therefore perfect for a lunch with guests. What more ?
