Unlike Danny Meyers - Tom Colicchio’s joints fail to live up to the high standards he once set - in its day this was as good as there was in town - today it is very good but not great. Sit at the bar and have a drink or a bite to eat

The cuisine is the main attraction at Craft. Helmed by Tom Colicchio, the restauranteur par excellence, this elegant restaurant attracts a large swath of customers. The interior is beautiful with flowers and paintings. As eating here is expensive, it is ideal to come here for Restaurant Week. Joann and I had lunch here in August. An appetizing three course meal where we munched on heirloom tomato salad, prawns, skate, pasta with a hearty meat sauce, vanilla cake and a summery peach tart. I drank a rosé. Service here is impeccable and the noise level is hushed. Highly recommended!

We went to Craft to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Service was excellent--professional but not pompous. The food was very good. The only dish that was a bit of a letdown was a side order of chanterelle mushrooms which was dry and quite expensive.

A famous TV chef, a great menu, skilled servers... well worth the trip downtown. The interior is looking a little tired but it doesn't take from the food.

Beautiful space and attentive staff. Unfortunately, the food was disappointing. Nothing was amazing or memorable but very expensive. We even returned one dessert because it was not worth the calories. this was my planned special dinner evening for my NY trip with my daughter and I was very disappointed in the quality and flavor of the food. Have had much better meals in our local restaurant here in Colorado. Would not recommend based on our evening at this restaurant

Had been looking forward to eating at Craft since seeing it on TV programme Billions. The restaurant is located not far from Madison Square Park and is a large space with high ceilings and good atmosphere. The food was good, although we both felt it could have been hotter, and we were a bit puzzled by the family style format on the main courses. Service was friendly and efficient, although they did seem a bit keen on turning tables - maybe that’s New York for you! It is a pricey place, and because of that, you expect perfection.

My wife and I went this week for our anniversary and were treated to special evening of gracious service, excellent food and an overall terrific experience. the family style servings allowed us to taste the braised octopus and black bass and the venison entree. the wines by the glass aren't cheap but don't disappoint either . We'll be back

The place is charming, the staff is really nice and the food is very delicious, big portion also. The only thing is that they can’t chose their clients and when you’re seated near 3 young ladies eating with their knees on the seat, speaking loudly you could say almost screaming, using their phone to watch videos … well that’s not what you want to see and hear in such a restaurant. I know it’s difficult but I guess manager should tell those kind of clients to leave or behave They were kind enough to give us another table and offered the dessert We will definitely come back

I have visited Craft on 3 separate occasions and in truth have always loved the experience but not last night. The place was cold, our table felt like we were sitting under a very cold fan and the food did little to warm the evening. Perhaps I chose wrong, the pork belly looked inviting but the orange sauce was over powering and bitter. I did enjoy the Corn Agnolotti, it was good and my wife enjoyed her scallops, but all the dishes were luke warm or quickly lost their heat. Overall not a great experience. I chalk this down to a one off and look forward to trying again in the future.

The whole evening was simply perfect - the atmosphere, the food, the wine list and, most importantly, the staff. They all went out of their way to make sure we enjoyed the full Craft experience. Our server, Cesar was absolutely incredible - so personable, so attentive, so knowledgeable about the menu and completely focused on our enjoyment. We also had the pleasure of meeting Tim, the floor manager and John, the General Manager both of whom took the time to introduce themselves, make sure we were happy and chatted with us. The food was so fresh and innovative and the wine list was extensive. We were made to feel like valued customers and, for that reason, we will return.

As a Top Chef fan, I made it a point to visit Craft on my latest trip to New York City. Chef Tom seems to have such a great understanding of how to not only create a wonderful dining experience that begins in the kitchen but continues throughout the meal by way of a welcoming environment and staff. My assumption was correct. Everything from the friendly reservation confirmation phone call I received to the pleasant conversation we shared with the main server we had while dining at the restaurant was top notch. Every single member of the Craft team made us feel welcome. The dining experience was amazing as well. Each dish was delicious and it was hard for us to choose our favorites. If I had to choose, I would absolutely return to Craft for the Chestnut Agnolotti, Crescent Pekin Duck and Aligot.

A great many NYC restaurants seem to give their main chef the summer or weekends off or send them to a branch in the Hamptons, making for an expensive (and sometimes embarrassing if entertaining) disappointment for stay at home New Yorkers. This was not the case at Craft one late June Saturday evening. Though not as busy they were well staffed and the food was really excellent. Looking forward to a return visit.

The tasting menu is greatly supported by the wine pairing. No weakness in the selection of French, Italian and Californian flavours. The desert was a bit disappointing but certainly because everything else was perfect especially the cooking of the duck.

I think that Craft is a perfect place for Have a wonderful dinner ( or lunch). The choice of Products are very accurate, you can eat seafood, meat and vegetables. The winelist is interesting. I went two days consecutive . After tried even the old restaurant colicchio and Sons , and beachcraf in Miami, I can say that Tom colicchio is a certainty of good food.

I read the review on TripAdvisor and checked it out. I really liked the food. The lunch was Quit it is a big place to fill. The staf was very friendly. But the ambiance was less.

We had an absolutely delightful time. Our server, Ed, was extraordinarily knowledgeable and helpful yet didn't attempt to force his way into our conversation about the meal either - it was a great balance. Santiago led the way among other servers and staff who helped at our table and ensured that our waters were full and plates cleared at appropriate times without being intrusive. Our visit was on a Friday in October 2024 and we ordered the following: - Burrata - Octopus - Halibut - Swordfish - Rohan duck - Banana fingerling potatoes - Brussels sprouts - Burnt honey and plum ice cream - Chocolate souffle with vanilla ice cream Everything was cooked to perfection (or very near to it) and the wine that Ed recommended was a great match with the swordfish and halibut (the colleague who ordered the duck does not drink alcohol). If I have any criticism at all, it is that the octopus was slightly tough, though nothing that any of us really quibbled over. I am not sure that any of us could have chosen a favorite dish, but the burrata probably received the most (surprise) praise. Swordfish is among my favorite proteins and it was a delight. The duck was divine and the souffle was a revelation for all three of us. I am certain that we annoyed the table next to us with our oohs and ahs with each new arrival and tasting (and our unexpected pleasures with the arrivals of the amuse and small bites for dessert...and the muffin on the way out at the end of the meal) - but if we did, they were very gracious about it and said nothing. The table next to us appeared to be a well-known guest (or regular) as our server, Ed, appeared to know his name. He did chat with us on occasion and it was nice to be in a friendly atmosphere. I would absolutely visit again should the opportunity present itself (alas, I live outside of New York and rarely ever visit the city, so who knows when that would be).

Came here for our 25 wedding anniversary. What a great way to celebrate! From the “personalized” menu to the complimentary champagne to the outstanding service and sublime food, it was an AAAA+++ experience. It is not cheap, but that should be no surprise when enjoying fine dining. The dishes we ordered were outstanding. Ingredients were fresh. Presentation was top-notch, and the service was superior. The dishes were expertly prepared and the flavours were amazing. We could not have been more pleased with out experience at Craft.

Everything was nearly PERFECT about my family’s experience here. The food was absolutely fantastic. The wait staff attentively ensured all our needs were met, questions answered, and the pace between drinks/ordering/meal courses wasn’t too fast or too slow. They also went the extra mile to customize our experience since we were celebrating a birthday. The only thing for us was that it was a little dark to read the menus for guests with limited eyesight. But we used phones!

Planned this family/holiday dinner in NYC for 2 months. Very disappointing, no other review is possible. Perhaps our expectations were too high (?), we've been to 25+ "Top Chef" (and Tom's) other restaurants. The restaurant is beautiful, great ambiance. Server had a bit of attitude from the start, no idea why. Sommelier was great, same for appetizers (the foie gras and the octopus)! Main course went downhill... steak and marrow (a specialty) was cold and under-seasoned, beyond shocking to us. Duck was overcooked and without crispy skin, again shocking. So, really no possible recovery from that. Server saw our troubles, (we didn't eat half our food), and didn't help or offer any fix or options, just more attitude. All we wanted and expected, of course, was Great Food, and simply didn't get that.

We enjoyed a special meal in the Private Dining Room down a couple of steps from the main restaurant. Our meal was as always extraordinary. Our server Cesar was lovely. The Sommelier Brooks paired some lovely wines with the tasting menu. All of the dishes were perfect.

Ed our waiter was friendly, knowledgeable and totally professional. The entire staff operated attentively without interruption to the table convo. Food was outstanding. John, the GM, stopped by the table to cheer up a pouty 9yo then took our daughter into the kitchen to meet the chefs! There’s nothing better than a top level restaurant that still has that ability to make every experience a memorable one, year in, year out! Thanks for a special evening.

I had a lovely brunch experience here. While not every dish is a hit out of the park, you get a good amount of food for the price you pay in a snazzy modern restaurant. Pair it with a fun cocktail selection and some dishes that taste as good as it looks, Craft is a wonderful place to celebrate any special occasion. While I wish service was a bit faster, it is a popular restaurant and things can get busier than expected. I really enjoyed the unique cheeses featured in some dishes, as well as their cod. Large portion sizes - you'll get the most bang for your buck and walk out feeling stuffed.

The staff, food and atmosphere all combine to make this an amazing dining experience. Well worth a visit and wouldn't hesitate to dine here again.

Huge fans of Chef Tom Colicchio and avid watchers of Top Chef. What a dream it was to dine here! We traveled from NC to NY for my 30th birthday and this was my top choice in places to dine. From the time we stepped foot in Craft the service and attention to detail was impeccable and so appreciated. The food and drinks were exquisite and out of all the thousands of people who dine here, I was made to feel so special. The cherry on top was being gifted a signed copy of the Craft cookbook by our server and management. This was an experience I will cherish for a long time to come. If I ever have a chance to go back, I will not pass it up.

We went to Craft to celebrate Thanksgiving as a family, as we had last year. Having booked a month in advance, we were surprised to be relegated to their sister restaurant aka “The Annex” which serves Italian food next door (?!). The issue is that we booked to dine at Craft as we had been expecting , but what we got instead was a switch and bait scenario. Shame on you for the $2000 you charged us - in the end, we walked away vowing to never return. If you had only forewarned us , we could have made a different choice.

We had lunch on December 24th. It was excellent. They changed the soup that day and we really lucked out into a delightful butternut squash and apple soup. I had some fish, and my companion had a Brussel sprout salad. Waitstaff was perfect. They were on top of everything without hovering or be intrusive. My only regret, I had a fixed time of departure so I couldn't enjoy the lunch as leisurely as I would have liked. I plan to be back.

Our 4th time at Craft and very disappointing last night. Party of 4, seated by 7pm. Restaurant was not at all busy and our table was next to a service station so we saw plenty of staff coming and going. Took our drink orders quickly but did not take the food order til almost 7:30 . Long wait for appetizers. Awkward staff leaning over and almost pushing to remove plates between courses. Longer wait for main courses. Much longer. Setting plates for main course somehow banged one of our guests reaching hands. Confusion about who got what dish and more awkward leaning across the table. Food was tasty as usual but portion sizes appeared smaller, certainly too small to justify price which is supposed to reflect a shareable portion for the table. 8:35 by the time they cleared main course plates. I had to ask for dessert menus which we got at 8:45, ordered one dessert to share which came at 9:20! Meantime, staff refilled my water glass and overshot the glass onto my hand. $80 drink tab ( for reference) total before tip $560

Never, ever have I consistently had the quality and service of Craft. Been eating here for over a decade and it’s as good as it’s ever been. Best restaurant in NYC to me.

We have visited Craft on various occasions now and it has been an amazing experience every time. The food is always excellent, but perhaps what makes the restaurant so great is the incredible service and dedication shown by the entire staff. Cesar, one of the restaurant’s lead servers, has done a particularly fantastic job during every one of our visits, as he always offers helpful insights about the menu and makes sure that everything is in order for the entire evening. All of these reasons are part of why we will continue to come back to Craft and what truly makes it one of the finest establishments in New York City.

I have watched Top Chef for years and have had the opportunity to dine at some of the winners’ restaurants. Always wanted to eat at Craft and the food was fabulous. I highly recommend Craft.

Decor very nice, space between tables, not too loud to have a conversation. Big wine list, a few more affordable wines would make it reachable to everyone. Great food options. Steak, short ribs, pork chop were all good choices and enjoyed by all.

We traveled to NYC for Easter from New Hampshire. We are big fans of Craft and Tom and missed this place during the pandemic. We both ordered the anniversary Tasting menu. What a delight it was! Everything was served with perfect timing. food was very delicious (I found lamb on a tough side but everything else compensated for it, my husband had not complaints). We both had excellent Zelenski Mule cocktail to benefit Jose Andres' wonderful charity. Service was perfect. I've liked this place more than Daniel and Le Bernardin. It didn't disappoint this time either. The dinner was worth the price. thank you, Tom and Craft staff.

From the pear cocktail, to fabulous bread and every bite thereafter, a delicious meal. Oysters plump and briny, wild boar pasta delightful and the duck portions immense. Loved the constant water service and level of service just perfect. Only disappointment was the pistachio ice cream, but the bourbon ice cream great. Noise volume a little loud but tolerable

We are huge fans of Top Chef and were blown away when we got to see Chef Tom a couple times. I love the décor and vibe in this place. Service was great. Started with some New Brunswick oysters which were a great way to get the palate going. Next came one of his famous pastas, the Agnolotti. Perfectly cooked with an amazing brown butter sauce. You definitely should split it. It is very rich. I followed up with the dry aged strip that I consider to be one of the 3 best steaks I've ever had. Cooked with rosemary and packing an amazing amount of aged flavor to it. Not to mention it is huge. Incredible. Great wine and beer lists. Servers could be a bit more knowledgeable in that area. Finished the meal with some Grappa. A great evening.

We walked in here randomly late one Friday night, cold and hungry and were warmly welcomed by the staff and ushered to a nice table. The restaurant was dimly lit and had a warm, cosy ambience. It took a while for the food to arrive, but it was worth the wait! We ordered 2 mains, 3 side dishes and a dessert to share thereafter. The staff were helpful and honest in providing their recommendations, and very professional as well. The food was excellent (I was not a fan of the main I ordered though - lobster - it tasted a little mushy), and service was phenomenal! At the end of the meal, they surprised us with a complementary platter of macarons and what looked like biscotti, with “Welcome to NYC” written on the plate in chocolate as they had found out from my other half that I was visiting NYC that week and was returning home the next morning. As we were leaving upon paying the bill, we were each given an apple cider muffin for the road. Special thanks to Cesar for making our dining experience a pleasant and memorable one. Another note to add: their apple tart tartin is to die for! It's a great place for a date, or even a night out with friends. Highly recommended.

This is our 5th visit, never disappoints! We had the 5 course tasting menu, I am not a fan of lamb, our server was able to change to short ribs. The desert was underwhelming, but otherwise everything else was delicious.

Visiting from California(8.25) on a girls trip. Had the most wonderful meal I’ve ever had. The short ribs and halibut melted in my mouth. The sides were equally good. Then the fig dessert came. It was decadent. It was more than a meal, it was an experience. Our server was excellent (Cia). The general manager (Mia) visited our table and learned that we follow Tom on the Food network and offered to give us a tour of the kitchen. OMG it was amazing. Truly the best meal and experiences I’ve ever had.

Everything about our experience was exceptional. Our table was ready on time, the appetizers were incredible. The oysters were briny and delicious and the server did a great job explaining the menu and helping us order the proper amount of food. The duck was not only cooked perfectly but it was a large portion. We indulged in dessert and they were spectacular - the donuts were a particular hit. Great evening

We reserved well in advance - strongly recommended - and were seated promptly. Our server, Cesar, was attentive and professional. His warmth earns Craft its reputation as a high end but relaxed establishment. The short rib was decadent, especially spooned over the potato/cheese richness of the aligot. The risotto was as good as any I'd had in northern Italy. The dessert chocolate souffle was more of a lava cake than a true souffle, but close enough. If it's an occasion, or you just want to indulge in truly fine dining, Craft is the place.

We paid our first visit to Craft for our wedding anniversary. Everything exceeded our very high expectations—greeting by name, personalized menus, impeccable and very friendly service, spectacular food and wine from the tasting menu and—for NYC—reasonable cost for the quality of the experience. The spaghetti with lobster sauce was so good that we almost licked the bowls, and the ahi tuna tartare was beyond description. We can’t wait to go back.

This would have been an A plus experience if the wait person wouldn’t have kept calling my fantastic 80th birthday my “Sweet 16” celebration. It was embarrassing.

What an incredible night. Excellent drink choices (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), delicious starter (grilled octopus), mouth watering entrees (quail and duck) and sides (sauteed greens and gnochi) and the best dessert one could ask for (toasted marshmallow cake). Went for a birthday celebration and the staff was more than welcoming and made us feel like we were VIP. Highly recommend.

Loved everything and they are vegetarian friendly! The gnocchi was the best gnocchi I have ever had, and I’ve had a lot of gnocchi. My fiancé had the halibut and loved it. Service was great, food was amazing. I would definitely recommend this restaurant and I will be back.

My partner treated me to a birthday meal at Craft after we’d seen it pop up in our favourite TV show (Showtime's Billions). That evening was undoubtedly one of the best dining experiences of my life. We opted for the five-course tasting menu, and each dish was perfection. Our highlights included the egg raviolo and the wagyu steak, but there wasn’t a single course that we didn’t finish with relish. The staff at Craft are very welcoming and provided excellent service. The restaurant is also beautifully appointed, with stunning artworks adorning the far wall that I am still coveting! We’ve already decided that dining at Craft should be an annual birthday tradition, and we look forward to our next visit!

I was fortunate enough to have the time to have lunch at Craft while visiting NYC. The lunch was amazing and I cannot encourage you enough to go if ever in the city. We practically ordered one of each from the menu and shared. We started with an octopus carpaccio with two of the signature cocktails. This was followed by an array of sides - spring pea risotto, an assortment of charred mushrooms, orange braised fennel, and roasted carrot. Then the mains came out - we had quail on a bed of green chickpeas and lamb bacon pappardelle. Though we were stuffed, we had to give the banana torte a try. We were not disappointed in a single plate brought to our table - and we were so impressed, we couldn't even rank them or give claim to a favorite. Do yourself a favor - go! Atmosphere. This is a fairly large restaurant, but due to how the tables are set out with nice dividers placed strategically, it felt cozy and intimate. We had full tables on all sides of us but never had the issue of hearing their conversations. There was good alternative music playing at a reasonable volume and the seating was comfortable. The staff was primo. Attentive without being smothering, and very well timed (for once I didn't have to answer a question after just putting a fork full of food into my mouth). I am a Top Chef fan, so was very excited to try the food here - I wanted to have a better understanding of Tom's tasting palate. I get it! Thanks for such a wonderful meal and experience.

Craft doesn't really have a theme or specific cuisine but is a mix of American and European flavours but the qualify and freshness of the food is what makes it outstanding. We had some scallops, a meat dish and several sides and all of them were unique and flavourful. The ambience is classy but not overly pretentious or overbearing, its dimly lit and comfortable. The staff are friendly and chatty and clearly love the food they serve. Portions are generally large and we definitely over-ordered!

The dining room at Craft restaurant is lovely. We had a round table for a party of 8. Rotating staff all night made it difficult for us to get consistent service and we did not have anyone overseeing our dining experience. Waited for the whole party to get cocktails. Dinner was lukewarm when it came out which is unacceptable at these prices. Asked to warm some dishes but didn’t get them back until quite awhile later. This really ruined the experience and was a dealbreaker!Service was choppy. Meal portions were tiny. The lobster almost $70 was ridiculously small! We ordered dessert and mentioned it was someone’s birthday. They did not give them a special dessert but instead put a candle in a dessert someone else at the table had ordered! Really? You can’t spare a birthday dessert? Will not go back! So disappointing!

One of the best meals I have ever had. Our waiter was very knowledgeable and gave great advice about the offerings. Food and service were absolutely fantastic.

Two five star experiences in three nights, I can't remember the last time that happened to me. I found this place on Zagat and somehow got an opening just a week in advance on open table. It is great. Much quieter than most of the places today, and the food and service were outstanding. A reasonable wine by the glass menu and a nice dessert selection as well. I will go return on. My next trip to NYC. A real find.

The pluses: good space (high ceilinged and tables not on top of each other) attractive decor, well-paced dining with attentive team service, and no din. The minuses: very hot, mediocre warm oysters, duck breast raw, a la carte dining with pricey side dishes, extensive wine list over-weighted with expensive bottles.

This is not a Michelin restaurant based on service. Rather, the food, decor and ambience more than makes up for the poor service. I say "poor" because we had dinner the other night, and not once, not twice but (to quote poor John Kerry) "thrice" our order were screwed up. Each time with an apology (though we're not sure to this day whether they removed the items from the bill since we were so drink on their fabulous wine), but if you're going to be a Michelin star restaurant, you can't screw up orders. Also, the server basically was absentee most of the meal, which I typically enjoy, but again -- if you're rated Michelin star -- I should not have to constantly look for a server, or pour my own wine, or get orders screwed. I am guessing Craft agrees with me. That being the case, the food was INCREDIBLE and though we sat outside that evening (on the day it was called for Biden-Harris to celebrate), I loved the decor. Amazing interior. I will go again to give the place another chance (Note: I ate dinner at Craft's sister restaurant years ago, Craftbar, and thought it was fantastic).

We had a wonderful lunch at Craft. We enjoyed the 2 course meal and then ordered desserts. We were very pleased with our meal choices. The wait staff was very professional. The food presentations were impressive, Everything was very fresh and cooked perfectly. The choices were all interesting and different. The tables were well spaced and conversation was easy.

Being huge Top Chef fans, we had been wanted to visit Craft, but did not have the occasion to be in New York, until we got Hamilton tickets for anniversary. Immediately we knew where we were heading to dinner. It did not disappoint. Our visit was exceptional. The front desk was delightful and the waitstaff was incredibly friendly and attentive. We ordered scallops, halibut, a pasta appetizer, salad, and mushrooms. Absolutely delicious! It was everything we were expecting and more. I should also mention, in our reservation we had noted it was our anniversary, and our menu had a delightful anniversary message, which they rolled for us to take home! Absolutely recommend. Definitely worth the special occasion.

We four good friends had excellent food, though 3 small service glitches and occasional food misses take this review down to a 4. Wonderfully tasty risotto, short ribs, and especially about the best swordfish I've ever tasted. But the soupy green farro was a strange preparation, and the homemade ice cream was surprisingly mild in flavor. And the decaf espresso (so I could still sleep later!) was awful! I think we had a relatively inexperienced waiter. That doesn't completely excuse my drink not arriving 'til after the appetizers were done or his presenting a split bill with each half more than our total! (We got someone else's bill by mistake.) Overall, a nice meal, exceptional in some respects, but lacking top-end consistency. We'll be back, but only after eating at a few other spots.

The food and service were exceptional. We split the octopus to start, then the t-bone with caulini and fingerling potatoes on the side, then finished with a scoop of sorbet each. All of the food was cooked to perfection and tastes delicious. Service was fantastic - very on top of keeping water glasses filled, and attentive throughout the dinner. Had excellent recommendations for wine pairings for the steak and general menu recommendations throughout dinner. Highly recommend visiting, it was an amazing dining experience.

Really special place. Classy, but warm and inviting, Craft offers interesting and delicious dishes and friendly, attentive service. We came for the 6-course summer tasting menu and it did not disappoint. The highlight (out of many superb plates) was the king crab over a lemon verbena purée. Still thinking about it! Daniella, our server, was perfection. She was the perfect blend of informed professionalism and personalized friendliness. She made the experience special and really knew the food! Thanks to Tom for a NYC gem.

I was so excited to try Craft for the first time last night. I had been to other Tom Colicchio restaurants (Small Batch, Craft Steak in Vegas) before and it was highly recommended by a friend. We started with the wild arugula salad and that was good. And then I ordered the short ribs for my entree. It is served in a little pot which I was so excited to uncover. I quickly realized that the piece was a giant blob of fat. I didn’t even have to cut it to see. I was able to get about 6 bites out of the whole thing with the majority sitting on my plate. My friend ordered the same thing and hers was fine. For $67, it should’ve been a perfect piece. When the server came to clear our dishes, she noticed that mine was mostly there. She didn’t ask if there was something wrong - just cleared the plates and asked if we wanted to order dessert. We declined dessert, paid our bill, and left. How could the kitchen serve such an inferior piece of meat? I will not be going back.

We went to Craft to celebrate our anniversary and loved it! The setting is very nice, great acoustics and service, and the food was delicious! I had melt in your mouth duck with yummy bougere potatoes & carrots cooked especially for me to avoid some food allergies. My husband had the hamachi appetizer which was excellent, followed by the veal breast--a cut we'd never had before--perfection. Be warned, the food is served family style and in generous portions. We each ordered a chocolate souffle (comes with Earl Grey tea ice cream???) but we got vanilla. While good, it was too pudding like and rich for me--I prefer the lighter versions. Service was attentive but not intrusive and would definitely return.

This restaurant has great food. There is something for everyone. Food can be prepared as you like. Appetizer artic char is amazing - delicious and served with creme fresh and capers. Sweetbreads were also excellent. Swordfish was outstanding and perfectly prepared. Sea bass and scallops were very good. Assortment of mushrooms were everyone’s favorite. The only dish we didn’t love was the polenta - it had a weird texture. The restaurant is quite loud. Also air conditioning was not working and despite many fans, it was hot and that was NOT pleasant.

Excellent service and food. We had a truly spectacular meal. The wine selection was amazing and the cocktails were excellent.

Everything was delicious. Food is simply prepared and presented without sides, so ordering a variety of sides is necessary in order to have a well rounded meal. Service was prompt and efficient; wait staff was very professional, but not overly friendly (that may be a selling point for some). A lovely experience.

Beautiful restaurant, great service and excellent food. We went for an anniversary dinner and were not disappointed. Pricey but worth it.

Sat at the bar enjoyed several crafted cocktails along with some interesting Beers. Ordered dinner and spent the night chatting with the very warm and gracious Mesrob and the bar staff. Great spot for dinner and people watching.

Except for the oysters which despite waiter saying good were not the food was terrific as was the service There were four of us and waiter suggested two appetizers, a main course for each and two sides. He was spot on We even left a few veggies behind The calamari and cheese apps were delicious. Two of us had fish, my daughter had steak and I had short ribs. All of us enjoyed. We had cheese for dessert. Plus a moderately priced bottle of wine. Some bottles only for an expense account While expensive certainly worth every dollar. Wish there was an UES outlet

I'm sorry to report that this experience, for this level of restaurant that it is supposed to be, was average. The decor was nice, but the food was average at best. I did not select this restaurant, but it sounded like it had real possibilities from what I briefly read. Pick a different restaurant. I think that our waiter also stepped over the line with his recommendations. He steered us firmly in the wrong direction(s). We had two types of mushroom dishes. One was bad, the other average. My friends and I shared many dishes, so we got a broad view of the menu. . One dish was like a basic pot roast - k - it was a basic pot roast. The portion served to my by the waiter was 90% fat. First, that should not have been in this dish like that. Second, the waiter should have noticed what he served me was almost entirely a portion of fat. It was inedible. The pot roast is a dish you can pass on unless you are just dying for pot roast like your mom used to fix. The potato side dish - very average. Etc. I thought the waiter way over sold/ over pushed some items. Go with what you think you would like. When a restaurant pushes you to some dishes that may be off of your usual palate preference - they better be darn sure the dishes are GREAT that they are pushing. That , unfortunately , was not the case with our dining experience. I left wishing I'd spent this evening at another restaurant during this trip to New York. I would advise you to skip this spot, unless there is some real reason that you need to dine here - like your boss named the restaurant, and you need to comply.

Had dinner here recently. Service was very professional. Food was very good. The outstanding choice is the short ribs at $66. Pastas were a bit underwhelming. Lovely atmosphere for fine dining.

Ambience, service, menu, wine pairing, taste of food & wine combined to make this the best meal experience we’ve had. Great evening!

As it was my last evening to spend with friends in NYC, I was really looking forward to have our dinner at Craft. The service can ruin the food - is my end of the story. Though it was only half full, got we seated at the probably "worst" table - next to the bathroom entry. There was a waiter to hand out the menue and to ask for our aperitives. Unfortunately these showed finally up after three times asking for them. The waiter obviously decided after that to ignore us for 30 minutes. We ordered the wine for the mail course - and again- we had to ask for it two times. When the table was cleared, knifes and forkes fell off the plates, when the wine was poured into the glass the mobile of one person got showered - and after all the waiter talked only to one person of our group - whether the rest wanted to order something seemed to be of no interest. To be fair, the manager tried to improve the situation and gave us free gazpacho (which was amazing!) and cookies at the end. The main courses were delicious and on point prepared. The side dishes could be a little more creativ. The real winner for me on that evening were the deserts. Summit: the food was enjoyable, but the fight for it wasn't. In a restaurant like this I expect a well trained stuff.

Superb food and service. Excellent menu choices all beautifully presented. Fine dining in a relaxed but special atmosphere. A wonderful evening.

Celebrated my husbands 50th here. They did a great job acknowledging the occasion. Drinks were well thought out, apps were delicious and the steak at dinner was perfect. Only disappointment was that we ending up sharing the steak because the smallest cut they had was 38oz and the only one eating it would have been my hubby so i opted not to have the fish so it wouldn't go to waste. There was still steak leftover, terrible waste :(

This is a phenomenal establishment to enjoy each other’s company and eat some absolutely incredibly delicious food. Our sommelier was wonderful as he learned what wines we typically drink and recommended to us a wine we normally wouldn’t get in our neck of the woods. We started off our meal with some beautiful baked complimentary bread and an amuse bouche. Then we had a dozen beautifully prepared oysters and the hamachi crudo. The hamachi was left to be the star of the dish as the rest of the ingredients so eloquently highlighted it. My wife got the heirloom tomato salad and I got the ribeye steak. We ordered a side of the hen of the woods mushrooms and the gratin potatoes. Unfortunately, we were told the kitchen burnt our potatoes so we got the purée potatoes instead. Complimentary. My wife’s tomato salad was beautifully seasoned to just let the exquisite ingredients shine. My steak, although one of the best flavored steaks I’ve had in a very long time, was not prepared to my liking. I ordered it medium as I often fear most places undercook medium rare. Unfortunately, this was more rare for my liking. Based on our server’s inquiries, I think he thought it to be under cooked as well. Ironically, how many times have we seen chef Tom Colicchio just rail on chefs for the same mistake on his show?!? The big disappointment were the mushrooms. I like vegetables and mushrooms to have a nice char on them, but there is a fine line between charred and burnt. These were burnt. That bitter burnt taste was prevalent throughout. My wife is a mushroom lover and couldn’t take a second bite. We opted to end with the cheese board. Sadly, I don’t think this should be on the menu. If we don’t get to choose the cheeses, then three selections for us should be killer and mind blowing. They were not. Why do I still give it 5 stars? Because this place is amazing. The staff was great, the vibe was great, the wine was great, and most of the food was great. Someone was having an off night in the kitchen. Albeit the most expensive meal this public school music teacher has ever purchased, it was for a good cause. My beautiful and loving wife of 20 years.

As huge top chef fans we were so excited to book a table in craft! We were amazed by the whole experience!! Front of the house very friendly, even gave us a next day morning muffin for free !! We ordered duck and halibut, we could not believe how amazing everything tasted!! We will definitely go back again when we have the opportunity!!

This was a great nighr out! We went to craft to celebrate my boyfriends birthday. It was just great! Our waitress was awesone, gave us some good recommendations about the menu. We shared a pasta to start and then gad the chicken and swordfish; both very nice! No room for dessert anymore so finished wih coffee and liquor. We had a fantastic evening, thank you craft!

This was our second visit to Craft since it opened many years ago. Then it was a stake house. Now Craft offers a more varied menu from pasta dishes to fish and meats. Some menu items are good to very good. These include the arugula salad and the mushroom risotto. The black bass was grilled with no sauce, nothing special. The burrata was a bit of a disappointment. Pavlova was good. Though the dishes are pricy with many entrees the $50 range and starters around $30, the wine list is reasonable. The very knowledgeable sommelier pointed us to a beautiful reasonably priced burgundy. Others service was good, also. John Gargano, the restaurant's maître runs a tight ship.

My fiancé and I had dinner at craft in November the week before Thanksgiving. We showed up for our 8:00 p.m. reservation and were informed that they were running about twenty minutes behind - no bid deal. The woman we spoke with asked if we would like to sit at the bar while we waited, which was perfectly fine with us. Cocktails were excellent, which was good for us as we had a very long time to sit with them. We didn’t get seated for dinner until 10:00 p.m. At that point, we had checked with the person we first spoke with multiple times, and we noticed people coming in well after us were being seated. I pointed this out to our original contact, who apologized and offered to take care of our cocktails, which was appreciated. We were seated shortly thereafter. We came in well dressed, were polite, and acted as one expects in a fine dining establishment, so this was rather odd. We never really understood what happened. Anyway, I digress. Once we were seated, however (at a table another couple had asked to be moved from? Slight wobble - At that point we didn’t care), things improved. Our server was very pleasant. I had the big eye tuna entrée, which was top notch - the olives used in the dish this fall were a perfect balance for the flavor of the fish. My fiancé chose the duck and wouldn’t stop raving about it. The hen of the woods mushrooms were a stellar side dish I would highly recommend. So, all in all, a delicious meal in a lovely location, just much later than we had expected.

Such a beautiful place! Great food, fresh ingredients, incredibly decor, and superb service from the moment we were welcomed into the restaurant to the time we left. The philosophy of Craft is craft. I would recommend this dining spot for anyone. Thanks, Craft! Can't wait to visit NYC again.

Came here for a special night out and weren't disappointed. We ordered the duck and the short ribs, and to be honest the short ribs were far superior and we'd highly recommend them. service was truly excellent and everything was at least good. Even the bread was amazing. Would be happy to return.

Somewhat pricy but absolutely exquisite locally sourced food. From home-made pasta to fish to succulent steaks. And everything was alluring and tasty, from salads to desert.

We have been going to Craft for about 10 years now. But usually, we go for birthdays or anniversary. Since we are not in the city to often. The food and service has always been top notch. Although there 1000's of restaurant in the city we always pay a visit to Craft.

What can we one say about a great restaurant but give the Craft Restaurant 10 stars. We have a table of 7 and we all enjoyed our food immensely. The service was impeccable. I was very impressed when our servers brought all our dinners out at exactly the same time so all 7 of us ate at the same time. I had the snapper and it was delicious. My son had the steak and said it was so tender and tasted real good. My family and I highly recommend the craft restaurant on East 19th street I believe in the gramercy park neighborhood. Thank you , Sebastian M

Beautiful space, approachable and helpful service, delicious food. The heirloom Tomatoes were “that day” fresh, the crudo and the Hen of the Woods were unlike anything I’ve had before, and the pork ragu was brilliantly layered and delightfully interesting. Mez the sommelier was generous with his knowledge and experience. Only regret is that I passed on dessert.

This was hands down our favourite restaurant of our over 2 week holiday in NYC. We loved it so much the first time, we cancelled a reservation we had on another night at another restaurant, so that we could return to Craft for a second time. The service was a huge step above any other restaurant we had dined at. Service was exceptional across the board, but a special shout out to Cesar and general manager John Gargano who went above and beyond. Food was amazing. Best risotto we had ever had in our lives thus far. Save room for dessert which was scrumptious!! Thank you to everyone at Craft, including all those working behind the scenes in the kitchen. We had two most memorable nights of our trip thanks to you!

Best pesto ever - seriously can’t stop thinking about it. 😂 Our server was pleasant. A lovely place for fine dining.

Amazing food here, you have to get the duck and the rabbit. Wine was also damn fine with a hip atmosphere and great bar

This time was a return solo to have their pork chop which is extraordinary! So very deliciously done. I agree the service though friendly could be more polished. I don't need my waiter to tell me three times "enjoy" or drop by to make conversation. The bus service seemed inexperienced and could use direction. Leaving, though I walked by maybe 10 staff members just standing, none said goodbye or thank you except the hostess at the desk as I walked out. The staff could also explain a little about the dishes as they place them on the table. For dessert I had the super delicious souffle which they placed directly in front of me with no plate to take it out of it's pot and eat it, there is a napkin under the hot pot. For Michelin stars, such details are to be thought through.

My son and I were celebrating my birthday, and had high hopes for a fabulous dining experience. The ambience is without a doubt impressive. My son had let them know it was my birthday, and our menus had “Happy Birthday “ printed at the top, a nice touch. The restaurant was less than half full, yet the service was lacking. We were at our table a full 15 minutes before any acknowledgment (water, drink order). Our nice waiter was clearly stretched too thin, and was apologetic. Eventually our drinks came, then a lackluster amuse-bouche of butternut squash appeared. We shared wildly overpriced so-called “Bad Boy” oysters on the half shell, and wonderful grilled octopus as appetizers. Having heard so many accolades for the short ribs, we bit the bullet and ordered this $67 (!!) entree, along with the seared tuna. The tuna was delicious, but the short ribs were embarrassingly poor — chewy, flavorless, and swimming in a greasy broth. So disappointing and surprising for such a fine dining restaurant. Later, when the manager came over, I mentioned the mediocre short ribs. He was quite apologetic, said they weren’t from the restaurant’s usual purveyor (then why serve them?), and immediately removed them from our bill and comped us a round of drinks. A classy move. He also said they were missing some of their service staff. I didn’t have the heart to mention my birthday, so no special treat arrived as promised on the website.

We had a private lunch at Craft. The room was really lovely. An area for cocktails and another place for a sit down lunch. The owner is Tom Colicchio, the Top Chef judge. This is his flagship fine dining restaurant. The menu is farm to table. Emphasis on local ingredients and pure seasonal foods. House specialities: short rib, green circle chicken. Lots of local seafood choices. Kudos to the GM, John, and to Ed, the perfect bartender. Highly, highly recommended.

A terrible wait time completely undermined what would have otherwise been a good experience: we liked the staff very much and the food was excellent but we waited over an hour - and the restaurant was pretty empty - without either an apology or an explanation offered. Disappointing as had been highly recommended and waiting aside was great. The scallops were superb.

From start to finish, this was a wonderful dining experience. The restaurant is beautiful, perfectly lit, and the music was a sublime backdrop to the evening. The food and drinks were delicious and beautifully presented. The service we received was personal and attentive, but not overly so. John, Julius, and Jesse made our graduation celebtration the evening we knew Craft would provide. Thank you!

Very fresh and delicious food. Great selection of vegetables and deserts. Very friendly waiters. Spacious and not very noisy (a rarity in NYC!) so wonderful place to catch up with old friends.

We had a 7:30 reservation which was made well ahead of time. The Summer tasting menu was sold out when we ordered at 7:45, 5 of the 6 steaks offered were sold out, it was a constant refine of “sorry, we are out of that.” Apparently they received a slew of reservations for this evening at the last moment and they told us they did not have enough food. A restaurant of this caliber should be prepared. Bill was $633 with tip for 2 people (3 glasses of wine so not a big bar bill). Dinner took 3 hours as service was painfully slow. Regarding price keep in mind we were not able to get the tasting menu at $185 per person. It is sad to see a restaurant considered high quality fail on so many levels. Spend your money somewhere else as Craft is not worth it both in attitude/service and food choices/execution/quality. The one plus was our server who seemed extremely embarrassed by everything.

My cousins took us here for dinner. Every meal was delicious. My Halibut was cooked perfectly and my husband loved his pork chop next time we’re in NY it will be our first dinner

First time at Craft. Servers Rachel and Nahim (spelling) were great, professional and gracious. Craft tries hard with little details, which costs them nothing but creates a better experience for the guest. The couple next to me was complaining about their food. I enjoyed the tagliatelle with lamb and later the quail (which came out kinda cold.) Dessert was spectacular: the pear chocolate tart.

Could not a ay enough how much we enjoyed our whole dining experience - from the help from the Sommelier with our wine selection, to the service, to the food, to the surprise “Happy” at the end of dinner!! Everything was Wonderful!! Highly recommend!

Big Top Chef fans and really looked forward to eating at Craft. First time. Arrived at 6:40 for a 7:00 dinner reservation for 2. Table wasn't ready so we had a drink at the bar. Nice ambiance. At 7:15 we still hadn't been seated. Finally seated at 7:20 after asking what was taking so long. We wanted to order an appetizer right away while perusing the menu, but our waiter said, "No," we needed to order our main dishes at the same time as appetizer so that he could properly time things. I found that a bit strange, but OK, whatever. We had grilled octopus for appetizer. Main course, I had braised short rib; and my wife had fish (snapper, I think). All the food was very tasty to be sure. But I was a little surprised that the food was not plated. Rather, the food came out in their cooking pans. So I had to use a big spoon to plate my own meat; and my wife had to use a fork to plate her own fish. I guess regulars know this, but with all the emphasis on Top Chef for plating and presentation, I was surprised, and I found it a bit awkward, honestly. Also, vegetables/sides are all a la carte, so while my piece of meat was delicious, it "wasn't a complete dish," as Tom might say on the show. Again with all the emphasis on Top Chef with composed, balanced dishes, I was looking forward to seeing how Tom put a whole dish together, but that is not the way it's done there. Wine list had many fine wines; very expensive. A very few choices for under $100; most choices several hundred dollars a bottle. Note my rating of 3 stars is relative to my expectation. For the price that is charged (over $300 before tip for 2 glasses of wine each, 1 appetizer to share, 2 "entrees" (protein only), no sides, and 1 dessert to share) I was hoping for more.

Great atmosphere, nice staff. Their seasonal cocktails are awesome and refreshing. I'd recommend the Bee Sting for those who like old-fashions.The arugula salad and donuts were my favorite parts of the meal. They also gave us blueberry muffins to take home at the end of the meal, which were also quite good.

This was our first visit and we will definitely be back! The service was wonderful. Servers were very attentive to details to make our daughter's birthday dining experience a memorable one. The food was exceptional from start to finish - appetizers through dessert. We are extremely pleased with our overall experience.

I made reservations for this restaurant online, but still had to call back to re-confirm our attendance. We showed up 30 minutes before our reservation and there was no problem getting our table at 6:00 on a Friday. The service was excellent, the waitress was informative and friendly, but not overbearing. We tried as starters the foie gras, and Macaroni pasta up with pork sausage and squash. The pasta was absolutely excellent, and our favorite dish of the evening. The Foie Gras was fairly good, however it would have been better with a little bit of acid to compensate for the fatty nature of the foie gras, and the sweet from the grape reduction sauce. For the main entrée, we had the smoked short ribs and the flat iron steak, both of which were cooked to our liking. There was a decent size serving for each of us. As no sides come with the meal, we additionally ordered a side of mixed mushrooms and a half order of the Swiss chard. Any of the side dishes can come with a half portion. For dessert, we tried the famous donuts that came with to dipping sauces a huckleberry and a Caramel - meh, could have done without those as I didn't think they were that special. We had a very nice bottle of Turley Zinfandel to compliment the meat course. When we left, we were given two house baked muffins for breakfast the next morning. In summary, the service was excellent, the food very very good, and like other people have noted it was a high price - but it was a very lovely meal and we would definitely dine again at Craft.

Have been to Craft many times for both lunch and dinner . Last nights dinner was superb . Food was delicious - hamachi , octopus and arugula salad all perfect . For entrees the scallops were absolutely delicious , and so was trout and pasta with sausage . Sides of mixed mushrooms and chanterelle and corn risotto were insane . And the sommelier chose the best Barbaresco I have had in years . Great food , great service and able to maintain good conversation .

The food was fantastic but with everything a la crate the bill gets crazy. If you want desert to be ice cream a cookie and a little fruit you are looking at a $30 desert. Same with dinner. The entree is served with nothing and I mean nothing. I enjoyed my food but the bill was staggering considering what I got to eat

This restaurant is at the top of my list of NYC restaurants! OUTSTANDING food, service and ambience. Everything you would want in a NYC restaurant experience. I ordered the pork and was thrilled. The seasoning was perfect. Also, it was easy to carry on a conversation, which is important to me because I have hearing problems often in restaurants. CRAFT was very pleasant.

Saw this restaurant on the show “Billions” and on CBS Saturday morning.out if way, not on main strip but so well worth it. So glad we went there. The BEST mushrooms, scallops, short ribs, potatoes su gratin, wine. Amazing! Our waiter Ed wad very professional, friendly, helpful in taking our photo. Had a menu with our named printed on it , too.

What an amazing experience! We had dinner here to celebrate a 65th birthday and the evening was perfect from start to finish. The birthday girl's menu was personally printed with a sweet happy birthday message! Every server who helped us was beyond kind and knowledgeable, and all acknowledged her birthday. The sommelier was lovely as well and helped us choose a wonderful bottle of sauvignon blanc. One member of our party really loved his hard cider, and someone wrote the name on a card for us to take home so we can enjoy it again. The beginning bread and amuse bouche of butternut squash and apple soup were both delicious. For starters, our party of 6 enjoyed beet salads, the arugula salad (split between 3 people), and oysters. One of the best beet salads I've ever had! Entrees included the halibut, salmon, and chicken, and all received rave reviews. For sides we got the carrots, romanesco, and the potato puree. GET THE POTATO PUREE, it was beyond words. We all got different desserts as well - the chocolate souffle, cinnamon donuts, lemon semifredo, apple tart, citrus mousse, and an assortment of sorbets. We all tried a bit of everyone else's, and absolutely everything was delicious. The birthday girl also got a complimentary birthday dessert which was a funfetti ice cream sandwich. It was a truly incredible meal that we will certainly be talking about for years to come!

We have been wanting to get to Craft for years, and we finally got around to it on our trip into NYC for our anniversary. Despite the extremely high expectations, Craft delivered in every way, making it a memorable night for us! The decor and ambiance inside was very nice, and the service is impeccable. Each of the servers make a point that you will enjoy this special dining experience. We ordered the veal sweetbread and arugula salad as our first course, and both were amazing. For our main dishes, we ordered the flatiron steak and the halibut, with a side of lobster risotto, all of which was as good as it sounds! For dessert we had the homemade donuts, which came out with “Happy Anniversary” painted on the plate with chocolate. A very nice touch. We each had one of their specialty cocktails with our meal: the mojito-like Persia, with vodka, pomegranate, lemon and mint, and the tasty bourbon and Aperol Black Widow. And for our special occasion, the restaurant had special menus printed up for us and provided a complimentary champagne toast! My only regret was not getting there earlier to get an extra cocktail before our meal. Chef Tom Colicchio should be proud! Thanks for the amazing experience!

Food was great but there were some service missteps that lessened our experience: we were halfway through dessert before our coffee arrived. Also waited close to 20 minutes after finishing dessert, ultimaty asking a busperson to notify our server we would like our check. She was pleasant, though. I hate even mentioning it but it did detract from an otherwise great evening.

Craft is wonderful with consistency delicious food and delightful hospitality! We frequently bring guests because we know everyone will have a terrific experience. We love Craft.

"Craft" turned out to be a perfect setting for a dinner party to celebrate the end of our architecture trip. The welcome was warm and the service very friendly, professional and personal. The menu allows to combine and share main dishes and lots of vegetables - all extremely fresh, prepared in a simple yet surprising way. There is something generous about the place which made it stand out, especially in NYC.

As fans of Top Chef and the TV series, this place was a must visit! The food, service, and ambiance was wonderful! The short ribs were to die for, and the duck was wonderful. The greens were a tad over salted for me. The ice cream was yummy too!

We came here for our anniversary meal on our 5th wedding anniversary, first time in New York and first time leaving our children. My husband is a huge fan of Top Chef so we thought it would be special to visit Tom Colicchio’s restaurant. We contacted the restaurant and when we arrived they may such a fuss of us it made it so much more special. Caesar is just amazing, he explained everything to us in depth and really made the day special for us. The Maitre d (sorry we didn’t get your name! Lovely Mexican man with a dapper suit and a lovely tie) also made such a fuss and we couldn’t have had such a nor relaxing and enjoyable lunch. They gave us a glass of fizz each on arrival which was a lovely way to start the experience. The food of course was just delicious. My husband is vegetarian and often struggles but he had no so problems here. They even took us down to the kitchen to meet the chefs and gave us a signed Tom Collicchio photo!! I had the monk fish which was just yummy. If you ever want to have a lovely meal in lovely surroundings, professional and knowledgable staff and yummy food this is the place to. Thank you Caesar and gang, you made a special day and a special trip even more memorable for us xx

Beautiful restaurant with a relaxing atmosphere despite a fullseated room. Observant waiters and perfect food. A very nice and succesful evening!

Here's the thing about Craft: everything is perfect. The ambiance is delightful with high ceilings, interesting architecture, lovely art, perfect lighting and a reasonable noise level. The service is top rate- friendly, attentive but not overly so, knowledgeable and helpful. And then there's the food. Craft is the kind of place where you know anything you order will be so good it might make you cry. On this visit I brought my foodie college student and his teen sibling. The teen is not quite as adventurous an eater as his older brother, but that kid would have licked every plate if decorum had allowed. He literally spooned the short rib sauce into his mouth once he'd finished the meat. After our last visit I came home determined to eat shishito peppers at every meal. The mushrooms are divine and I honestly could just order those as a meal and leave happy. Everything is creative and delicious and perfectly cooked. Between the three of us we had many of the vegetable plates, a squid pasta dish, the short ribs, sea bass and quail, ice cream and a semifreddo confection, tea and coffee, so we covered most of the menu. Every bite was perfection. To round things out we had theatre tickets and mentioned this to our server when we sat down. She unobtrusively kept an eye on the time and helped us to order in a way that would allow us to enjoy the meal without feeling rushed and make it to the show without any stress. In sum, I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly. Even the neighborhood is lovely and if you come you should take a post meal stroll around Gramercy Park, especially the beautiful historic block of E 19th between Irving + 3rd.

Sometimes fine dining can be a bit stiff. Craft is definitely fine dining but in a more laid-back atmosphere. The ambience of the place, including the music, is classy yet inviting and relaxing. The service is very attentive yet friendly. Everything we ordered was delicious. The presentation was a bit less fancy than some places at this price point, but we enjoyed everything. The sommelier recommended an excellent, half bottle of Cabernet which paired beautifully with the braised short ribs. A very enjoyable meal!

Farm to fork, exceptional quality ingredients simply and perfectly executed American cuisine. The menu changes daily and is meant for sharing. The quality and integrity of the ingredients shine through. Simple isn’t easy - in fact it’s quite the opposite. Preparing high quality, simple dishes is an art form. There are no complicated, saucy dishes within which to hide poor execution and quality behind. Their dishes resoundingly speak for themselves, championing their mantra of high quality, farm fresh curated ingredients - simply and perfectly executed. The service is first class and attentive- but not suffocating. The restaurant is modern, casual and warm and not at all stuffy, while still providing you with better than high end fare and service. A masterful balance that speaks for itself. Let your sever guide you - you will not be disappointed.

The atmosphere is warm and inviting, and the service, food, drinks . . . everything was great. We were sitting at the table to the left of the column in the pictures across from the bar. This was our 1st visit to Craft, and it was my wife, daughter and her boyfriend. Our server gave us great recommendations starting with the huge bone in ribeye, potato puree and hen of the wood mushrooms - he basically ordered for the table with the exception of the drinks. It was a wonderful 5 Star dining experience. Next time in NYC we will be coming to Craft.

Excellent service and food. Nice selection of traditional meals and creative options. Nice for business or with friends. I absolutely recommend.

Ate in the private dining room. Fantastic Food and martini was excellent Service excellent Just I called earlier and told them it was also my 10 year anniversary. Wanted a candle or something special for my wife. They agreed but they did nothing to make it more special then Valentines Day Yes we would go back. But not for a special occasion

As fans of "Top Chef," we had always wanted to eat at Craft. We were willing to pay the exorbitant prices, as we expected to have a fabulous meal. Our expectations were only half met--the prices were indeed exorbitant, but the meal wasn't worthy. Part of the problem was that we over-ordered; it would have been helpful if the waitress had explained that the side dishes were family-style, with more than enough for two people. (Nothing comes with the entree, so sides are a must.) WInes were outrageous--$23/glass. The food was--frankly--forgettable. The bump in price related to a celebrity chef was not warranted. I'm no longer a fan--I felt suckered.

While recently visiting NYC my wife and I had dinner here. It had been several years since dining here. We were pleased to see that Craft is as good as ever. Reservation system was easy and accurate...6pm...table in front near the street window. Hostesses greeted us and said they had a nice table for us. When the initial welcome is warm, it sets the tone for the whole meal...great. Our waiter was Ed who was informative about the menu and did not rush us to make dinner choices. After a relaxing cocktail, we were ready to order. All were shared dishes. The double foie gras was outstanding. Arugula salad was large and plenty for two. The “cornish” hen was really a small chicken and called “amish” on the website...cooked to perfection. Spring onion was carmelized...different and very nice. Hen of the woods mushroom...always perfect. Short ribs done just like the Craft cookbook. One tends to order too much, but the temptations are great. The food, ambience and the service was outstanding. Always great to revisit a favorite restaurant and have a wonderful experience. Makes you want to return. Kudos to the entire staff! Only negative was the missing “take home treat”.

Wine choices...amazing...Focus Gras....best I’ve ever had! The main dish $150 NY Strip was beyond disappointing. Nothing special. No flavor at all cold. Just plan bad. Had high hopes but drastically missed the mark with this Steak dish.

Snooty staff & immature staff not knowledgeable about a restaurant of this caliber. We had a family dinner. There were six of us there. I am limited in what I can eat, and because there was mostly meat and shellfish on the menu, I asked the waitress if certain things could be removed, and her response was – numerous times – “no that would spoil the dish.” Then she came back with a menu on which she circled things as if I didn’t know how to read, which was insulting. At that point, I was very pissed off and after she told me that she couldn’t remove anything, I asked her to please remove herself because I couldn’t deal with it anymore. Then she went into the corner and started giggling and pointing at me. This is a very expensive restaurant and it’s not my first expensive restaurant that I’ve ever eaten in, so treatment like that is really shocking, uncalled for, insulting, unprofessional, and shows a lack of training on the part of Tom Colicchio. We spent $1080.00 for dinner for 6 people. Don’t waste your time or money. These people will ruin your experience.

Can’t fault the place. If anything it was a bit pricey. But the quality of the meal was top draw. Had the oysters followed by fish with purée and bean sides - all really tasty and fresh.

Wonderful meal for my daughters birthday! Everyone was so attentive- servers, host, managers and even Tom himself! She was over the moon- the food was great- we had the sautéed greens, risotto, gnocchi and beef short ribs! What wowed was the attention to our table and our hats off to the dessert menu- the pavlova was amazing and who knew Arnold Palmer sorbet would become a new obsession!

Craft is an amazing experience from the service to the food. A can’t miss experience for any occasion.

Awful, no flavor, no sauce on the pasta, dry octopus, beyond disappointed. Service was great but the food was so lacking Won’t b back

Apps were fairly good, especially the tuna tartare. The rest were just ok, the octopus was way overdone and the gnocchi were swimming in a bland sauce. I had the red snapper and while cooked nicely again it was swimming in a lemon butter sauce that was overpowering. And what is with the dry muffins when you leave??

We came into the City from RI and finally was able to check Craft NYC of our list! As foodies who enjoy trying new places and new cuisines we have always want to come to Chef Colicchio's Flagship Restaurant. It was so worth the wait! The food was impeccable. We loved the seasonal menu and that they get a great deal of their ingredients from a local farmers' market! The food was even better than we could have imagined. From the bread to the dessert we were never disappointed. You must try the Heirloom Tomato Salad, Ricotta Agnolotti & the 45-Day Dry Aged Prime New York Strip! These were our favorites of the night, but everything was absolutely delicious. The Chocolate Souffle was melt in your mouth delicious! The service was top notch and our server, Mez was great and so very personable! We are already planning our next trip back!

A family visit to an old-time favorite and everyone was thoroughly satisfied. The $ 26 Restaurant Week prix fixe is a good value. The “foie torchon” was outstanding ($3 supplement), as was the steak tartare with truffle and wild mushroom.

I am a HUGE Top Chef fan and I love Tom Colicchio both for his knowledge of food and for his food activism. CRAFT has been on my list for a long time, so it was the perfect splurge meal for our anniversary dinner. Ed (our table captain) and his assistant Eric really made our experience special. We were presented with a personalized menu and a complimentary glass of sparking wine. I ordered the short ribs and the Mr. gets the pork duo for our mains. We also get an order of aligot and sugar snap peas for our sides. I get a glass of red and the Mr. sticks to water. While waiting for our meals we enjoy bread smeared with butter and sea salt. We are served an amuse bouche with cucumber, radish, and something else on a crostini that I can’t remember. It was a tasty morsel and the perfect setup for a dinner of a lifetime. My short ribs were fall off the bone tender with a gravy that made me want to lick the plate. The little turnips and onions cooked with the short ribs, left me longing for more. The Mr.’s pork, (which I tasted), might be the best pork we’ve ever eaten. The aligot was as good as any we’ve had in Paris, and the sugar snap peas provided a nice element of crunch. It was a beautiful meal, topped off with sugar spiced donuts with coconut-caramel sauce and marshmallow crème anglaise. I had coffee and the Mr. once again stuck to water. After that we were surprised with a tour of the kitchen AND we met Tom!! He was so nice. I probably embarrassed myself with the 'gushing' but it was such a surreal and unexpected moment. The Mr and I FLOATED back to our hotel. We couldn't stop smiling. It truly was the dinner of a lifetime. I HIGHLY recomend CRAFT. Even if you don't get to meet Tom, the food and service will make you glad you dined there!!

We ate off the restaurant week menu, so there might have been a little holding back from the kitchen, and one should take that into account in reading this review. We had the two course lunch, which was a bargain at $26, although not too much different from a lot of business lunches offered around the city. My wife started with the brussels sprouts salad with walnuts and bagna cauda. It was very generous, with nice crunchy walnuts and a yummy dressing with touches of anchovy. Very good. I had the grilled squid with Heirloom beans" and kale. Beans looked a lot like chickpeas, and were tasty enough, and formed most of the dish. The squid was tiny and tender, and one or two more pieces would have been welcome. I was surprised at how spicy the dish was. While I do not shy away from spice in, say, a Korean restaurant, the heat in this dish simply seemed out of place. It was lunch and I was only having one glass of wine, so I did not have any along with this course, since the spice would have completely thrown the wine off. Next course we had cod served over Israeli couscous, or fregola, and skate with cauliflower and sauce grenobloise. The cod was perfectly cooked with a crisp skin. The fregola was a bit too far on the al dente side, but tasty all the same. The skate was beautifully cooked with a crisp, brown buttery edge and moist inside. However, to me sauce Grenoble implies some brown butter and tangy capers - a classic with skate - but in this case there did not seem to be any butter at all other than what was left on the fish itself from cooking, and the few capers I saw were watered down in flavor from the tomatoes that were cooked with the cauliflower. The lightly spiced tomatoes and cauliflower were pretty bland, and while they sort of went with the skate, they seemed more like something to eat for a summer lunch than at mid winter. While I was not crazy about the cauliflower-tomato mix, and the fregola was undercooked, I must say that they were welcome any way because unlike many nicer restaurants these days, you felt you were getting a real main course, with some vegetable matter to balance out the protein. Too many places give you a spoonful of vegetable puree, or a slice of turnip, and feel that gives a full main course. So I do applaud the fact that I felt like I had eaten a nicely balanced meal. The dining room, by the way, is spacious and richly appointed, though perhaps a little dated, and made for a luxurious meal. Waitstaff was good as was the wine by the glass.

We attended an anniversary party with hors d’oevres and a family style dinner. Service was attentive and friendly. They had a well appointed bar. Stand out dishes included a selection of heritage tomatoes in a light vinegrete, sautéed greens, braised spare ribs, organic roasted chicken and scalloped potatoes. A stone fruit crisp with rich whipped crème was a perfect ending.

From the greeting to our exit, this was an amazing experience! The team approach to service complemented the dinner and added to our memorable visit, special thanks to Caesar. The ability to hear our conversation was a treat too. Each course was fantastic as was the cocktails and wine selection. Great night!

If you think wine is a necessary complement to a fine dinner then you should avoid dining at Craft. Surprisingly for a restaurant that fancies itself first tier, its wine program is second rate. It has an embarrassingly small selection of California wines. Most surprising Craft refuses to post its wine list on the website and instead asks that you e-mail a request for the list to their beverage director. As one who likes to do a bit of research to see what my trusted review sources say about wines, I find this unacceptable. Adding insult to injury the wine list presented in the restaurant has print so tiny I couldn’t read it in the dim light. The waiter treated my request for a flashlight as joke. New York is filled with restaurants serving equally wonderful food and that also provide their wine lists online. And most of them, unlike Craft, have a large and well -chosen selection of California wines

Craft was an exceptional experience for our 40th wedding anniversary dinner. The staff was amazing and provided several special services to make it a great celebration. the food was perfectly prepared and elegantly presented. We'll be back!!

With this being our first visit to New York and our 25th anniversary celebration, I decided to reserve a nice dinner at the end of our busy tourist day. From the time we were seated, we received top notch attention and treatment. Our anniversary was immediately acknowledged by multiple staff, were gifted a personalized copy of the menu , and a complimentary sparkling wine. Our head waiter expertly guided us through our menu selections and wine choices with a friendly and helpful demeanor. I lost count of the number of staff who unobtrusively served us and whisked plates away at the precise times. ( Of course , our water remained filled throughout) . Not once did we have to ask for attention. A very special thank you goes to Desmond, and CeSar for their outstanding service. In addition, I’m so grateful to Cheran for making our experience NEXT LEVEL. The memory of our experience will last a lifetime. Michael Keogh we appreciate your talent and hospitality!!

We are big Top Chef fans and were really looking forward to dinning in Tom's restaurant during our stay in New York. Craft did not disappoint. Every aspect of Craft from the beautiful environment, to the attentive and professional staff, and especially to the wonderful food was Top Chef worthy. This was certainly one of the top five dinning experiences we have ever had.

Hard to say what was best. Everything was perfect and beautifully presented. The staff was very helping with recommendations from the menu and we could hear every word spoken at our table because Craft , although busy was not loud

We had a delicious meal in a relaxing atmosphere with excellent wait staff! Many places have gnocchi, but this was bar far the best ever!

It is hard to describe our wonderful experience at Craft. The genuine warmth shown when we were greeted and shown to our table started the experience. The entirety of the staff in anticipating all of our needs in considering the food and beverage selections and presentation was never ending. The knowledge of Mesrob, our waiter, as to the ingredients and manner of preparation of each of the offered selections was unique. In total, it was a great experience. We were allowed all of the time we chose to sip our wine, savor the bread offerings and select our meals - even though the restaurant was busy. Our favorites were the octopus appetizer (to be shared). The two large pieces were slowly cooked until tender and grilled to perfection (and served with a variety of peppers). We then shared the duck confit and the braised short ribs as main dishes. Each was cooked to our liking. We also shared a large portion of a variety of grilled and sauteed mushrooms (many varieties). Dessert was a shared home made small donuts with caramel and marshmallow sauces and ice cream. While not inexpensive, the a la carte menu is certainly reasonable. The wine list was varied and reasonably priced. In all, one of the best dining experiences in New York.

Outstanding service and the attention to Detail is just amazing. The ambience was wonderful and every team member made you feel welcome. Definitely recommend the short ribs.

Simply prepared, but totally delicious, virtually everything we had was amazing. The unique seasonal craft cocktails began the evening. Our server suggested half portions of our salads, which was a welcome idea. The arugula and pine nut and the beet salads were divine. The duck entree was melt in your mouth and the swordfish was among the best we've ever had. Cauliflower seasoned with mint was a welcome side, as was the honey nut squash. Only one negative - we didn't care for the gnocchi. It wasn't firm enough for our taste. The chocolate souffle was the perfect ending to our meal.

Loved our meal and experience at Craft. We met the GM who had a really meaningful background and story, and our server was somewhat new and absolutely fabulous. We ate outside on a beautiful night and were thrilled with everything. I highly recommend. They take of their people, they care, and it shows both in the quality of the food and the service.

Top notch food with service to match. The physical facility is beautiful and spacious (especially in comparison to most NYC restaurants).

Having booked a month in advance for our Valentines dinner both myself and my girlfriend left feeling underwhelmed and overcharged. I’m often told not to book a high end restaurant on an expected busy night and this exemplified why. The food was not bad but also far from outstanding. Choosing from a set menu on the night I felt all three starters lacked any real flavor, in particular the leafy salad that was borderline boring. The main courses better but again, excellence is what I had hoped for in choosing Craft and I left disappointed.

The staff is incredibly hospitable and warm. Particularly wonderful were the octopus, fish and squash agnolotti. A delightful meal, thoroughly enjoyable. Thank you!

Expensive and small portions but the food tastes great and the service deserves 6 stars! And, for its class of restaurant in Manhattan, it isn't sooo expensive. Good for a special occasion.

Met an old friend for dinner. She &Hubby ordered appetizers and entrees. I just ordered entree. We shared two sides between the three of us and there was plenty. Friend had the fluke appetizer followed by the quail entree. I had the beef entree... which was tender enough to cut with a fork and the sauce was amazing. Hubby had octopus appetizer followed by seafood pasta. We were also served a cold tomato soup amuse bouche and were given blueberry muffins to take home.

Our special occasion meal was outstanding. Perfectly cooked duck was the star, with incredible risotto, corn, and burrata alongside. The service, though, is the biggest reason I’d go back. Cesar was personable and attentive, giving us room for a leisurely meal. We loved everything and were made to feel special. We’ll be back!

It had been a few years since I’d been to craft so it was nice to revisit it again. The three main takeaways were this: the decor was inviting & calming; the service was friendly and professional; and the food represented cleanly and deliciously what it WAS. Whether it was raw bar, steak, fish, or vegetables it was prepared perfectly. We loved our meal!

First the good things. The service was top notch. The staff was incredibly attentive and nice. They couldn’t have been better. The atmosphere of the restaurant was also great. The not-so-good is the food. Nothing memorable and most of what we ate fell into the “it was OK” category. I expected so much more, given it is a Tom Colicchio restaurant and expensive. The ironic part is the worst thing we had was the risotto, which Tom always complains about when contestants on Top Chef attempt. Tom’s own hen of the woods risotto was bland to the point I was mixing other things with it to make it taste good. Really disappointing. The arugula salad had a nice flavor but had stems that you had to spit out because they were so tough. The one good dish we had was the agnolotti. Very disappointed. This was supposed to be the best meal of our long weekend in NYC but when my wife and I listed the best things we ate on the trip, nothing from Craft made the list.

We went here for my Mom's Birthday. The service was wonderful, attentive and pleasing. The food was delicious and diverse, from the first course to dessert, and the cookies and muffins at the end. Also, don't miss the cocktails, they are creative and unique.

The service was amazing. From the bread to the tasing the chef sent, drinks the staff was attentive. The food was amazing. It was my birthday and I had a “special” manure with Happy Birthday printed at the top. Portions were good with shareable sides. I WILL be back. My only complaint would be the meals were not hot. They also were not cold, but they should have been hot. I eat out often and this is one of the best experiences I have had!

We have been coming to Craft for the last 10 years or so. We are not local but when we visit the city we visit Craft for bdays or anniversaries. It had been awhile due to the crazy pandemic but we got to visit recently. The food was fantastic as always. From the pasta dishes to the pork chop (so tender) and halibut. Service was great and we were not rushed. Although we had a early seating at 6. Will return when we visit the city again.

With high expectations of this exclusive New York talking point, I booked ahead with the hope of a very special experience. With a 7.30pm reservation, I was 'disappointed' that the ribs I had come for were already sold out. The manager John Gargano came to explain the current supply challenges facing NY restaurants. He re-assured me that any other choice on the menu would delight. With a huge smile, 20 minutes later John brought me a plate of the ribs that he'd managed to procure. I was speechless. Needless to say the ribs were heavenly, but more importantly John and his team had turned my 'disappointment' into delight. Craft is a 'must' for any visit to New York.

All organic food, meat produced antibiotics style, all bought by local suppliers (farmers, fishermen, butchers). A great concept, a very green lifestyle, and it’s excellent in taste and looks. Service is very good, it’s not a cheap menu, but it’s so worth it.

Outstanding service and the food was among the best I've ever had. We were a large party of 30 business colleagues and the staff handled all of us perfectly.

The GM John, is an absolute homerun! What an amazing and inspiring person, the food experience and whole Craft family was incredible. I have visited restaurants throughout new york city every week for the last 6 years and tonights experience is ABSOLUTELY in the top 5! I can’t wait ro go back and continue to build the personal relationships with every staff member! Thank you for being yourselves and treating Tori and I like family!

Honestly, after getting back home and having tried many Michelin star restaurants in NYC, we have to admit that this was by far the best and most tasty of all!!! The food was so amazing, so tasty!! The atmosphere was great. We went for dinner on Christmas day and the only thing we regret, is not visiting it again during our stay. Delicious short ribs, excellent cod, lovely agnolotti , even the side dishes were great!! Worthy by all means!!

I felt very fancy in this place. I loved the dessert the most. It had such flavor to it. I was amazed that a chef could make something so good. The best part of the night was the romance. I was having a special dinner here with my beloved. It was great to have a nice place that I had never been to before. I thought that the food might be a let down, but I was off by a long shot. The food here was so amazing and we had a great dinner. I even thought about ordering a second meal to have for later. It was very filling and I can't wait to have this again for another special dinner. Ten out of ten for this place.

Food and service were outstanding. Three of us dined at Craft on a Friday. Two had sea bass and one duck breast as main courses. Perfectly cooked, cleanly executed, beautiful presentation. A bit pricey, we would consider it a special occasion place.

when you hear "you go to a restaurant for the food but you come back for the service" , that defines Craft. After not being able to travel for 18 months, this was my first client dinner back in NYC. Craft has always been my go-to for business dinners as the service is consistently excellent without being overbearing. I felt like a "regular" last night--from the waiter to the GM, everyone was amazing--delicious complimentary glass of champagne, gazpacho amuse to start the meal off. Foie gras torchon and fresh burrata were great appetizer starters. After debating if meat was too heavy for a 90 degree evening in NYC, we had the duck and short ribs. The duck confit was amazing--crispy and falling off the bone. The short ribs were so perfected glazed and tender with a deep, rich flavor. Aligot potatoes must have had a pound of cheese melted in, they were so luscious and creamy, we could have licked the dish! Watermelon granita was the best shaved ice I ever had with very cool flavor of anise hyssop whip cream, peach tarte tatin had peaches that tasted like they were picked that day. The corn ice cream was incredible--the depth of flavor was amazing. From start to finish this was an amazing meal and dining experience.

The staff at Craft are sincerely friendly and actually care about your dinner experience. It’s a beautiful venue, but not stuffy or too formal. The food was fantastic - and be warned - these are big portions! Enjoy!!

Excellent service and amazing food. The squash pasta with brown butter sage sauce was divine. Whole experience was delightful. Started with craft cocktails - I had the Winter’s Tale and my companion had the hedonist. The squash soup amuse bouche was a pleasant surprise. We shared the pasta and hamachi crudo. I chose the chicken which was the most tender chicken I have ever had and he had the duck. He is a big fan of duck and said it was the best he had ever had. We shared the Brussels and finished with three scoops- vanilla, honey and blood orange. The take home coffee cake at the door was another pleasant bonus. Totally exceeded my high expectations.

Over rated and really arrogant service staff.. over priced for what you get. My original review was so scathing I have been forced to re wrote it. Just avoid it unless you have money to burn.

The meal I’ve ever had. Never thought I’d be able to actually make that call, but I’ve been mulling on it for just over a week, and it simply was. I can’t think of another time when my taste buds have enjoyed themselves so much. 6 of us visited and simply the wine, started and mains that we tried were simply amazing. I think I tried everyone’s starter and certainly tried everyones main. We had Oysters, Beet risotto, short rib, venison, lamb and (OMG) wild bolognese! That’s just the food I can remember! Next time I go, I really want to try the $6400 wine but I’ll need to win the lottery first... I very much hope this place comes to London soon! Well done guys! I don’t say it lightly. James
Met and Exceeded My Expectations!
The hosts were welcoming and inviting. The food was scrumptious. Everything was cooked to perfection and well seasoned. I had the pork. OMG...it was crisp on the outside. It was moist and juicy on the inside. It literally melted in my mouth. The wild mushrooms delicious and the greens were firm and perfectly sautéed. The greens had just the right amount of bite to them. Lastly, the Meyer Lemon sorbet tasted like a lemon festival in my mouth. It was light and refreshing. Lastly, the waitress was knowledgeable and accommodating. I loved everything about my experience. Quick note, the restrooms were very clean which says a lot in my book.
