Great Dinner

By KYBetsy |

We had dinner here on a recent visit to NYC. We had made reservations on Open Table and although we were a few minutes early, the hostess seated us at her "favorite table" immediately. The table was in the corner of this tiny restaurant and a great place for my early 70's parents, who sometimes have trouble hearing in loud restaurants. The service continued to be friendly and efficient throughout the meal. Food was excellent. We had the market fish with spring pea risotto and asparagus, fish and chips, and the Connecticut style lobster roll and all were delicious.

Casual tasty dinner

By Anya V |

Table was easy to reserve we were group of 3. Had 3 types of different oysters. 4 starters and whole grilled lobster! Champagne was amazing! All food that we had was beautifully presented and tasted superb! Definitely be back!

Cool consept

By Tool007 |

Cool consept in the super cool Chelsea Market. Very friendly staff i must say. Unfortunately they didnt have stonecrab today, in this concept they should provide this. King crab legs was not fantastic, very slim legs & lacked the amazing taste i associate with king crab served in Europe. Lobster roll was nicer, but also here it lacked a bit of punch. Nice fries on the side. Huge selection of delicacies from the sea on the menu. But need to step up a bit regarding quality.

Does NOT have sushi!

By 60004Kathy |

TripAdvisor shows sushi on the menu. They do not have sushi. We went for sushi, so that was disappointing. I would say everything was good, but nothing was outstanding or memorable. We don't eat oysters or lobster. Those are the specialty at C&P. The regular menu items are small portions. The lobster and oysters seemed to be large portions. The interior (inside the Chelsea Market) was nice, but it was close quarters with the others diners. The fish was cooked well--NOT overcooked. Wait staff were attentive and friendly.

A Go-To in NYC

By instanbul2005 |

This most recent visit was our third one. Every time we go, the entire experience has been exceptional. We know enough to get there just as they open for lunch, as seating is very limited. My wife and eat a whole lot of seafood, and this place in our opinion is the best for that in Manhattan. The service, the cocktails, and the quality of the food cannot be beat. The wine list is quite good and affordable. You will pay a few bucks for this caliber of eatery, but we never walk away feeling the least bit cheated.

Great place but please add the missing lobster Benedict and some espresso coffee like before !!!! šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

By MC6363 |

Very good sea food ! Easy and quick ! Used to be even better before covid so they may come back to the old menu ! Sorry that the lobster Benedict’s are not anymore on the menu ! They were awesome… missing also a great espresso at the end of the meal …. Maybe this will also come bac again šŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤žšŸ¤ž

Tucked inside Chelsea Market

By J-K |

Great find tucked inside Chelsea Market. As a NYC resident, I avoid Chelsea Market at all costs due to heavy congestion day and night. Happen to make a reservation for this spot without knowing they were located inside Chelsea Market. It was a hassle to get to this restaurant through the myriad of crowd, but once inside, it is quiet and cozy. Dim lighting and quick service. Seafood are excellent and fresh, straight from their Lobster Place operation next door. Highly recommend.

Come for the oysters!

By Katy A |

Went here because they were rated the best oysters on TripAdvisor in NYC. The oysters definitely didn’t disappoint! There was a wide variety of tasty oysters to choose from. The only bad side of our experience was the greeting we got. It took a while for the host to acknowledge our presence and told us we needed to hurry our meal because the next reservation was in an hour and a half. They also didn’t give us menus for 10 minutes. We both enjoyed our entrees. I had the Maine Lobster Roll Which wasn’t the best lobster roll I’ve ever had, but I’m a bit of a snob being from New England. My boyfriend had the scallops which were delicious but he was still hungry after. All in all we had a good time here and would definitely come back for the extensive oyster menu.

Excellent Lobster Rolls

By Lamby64 |

I had read up on line where to find the best lobster rolls and this place was in the search results. A lovely way to eat lunch in very casual relaxed surroundings (takeaway option). The sandwich was tasty and well made if not a bit pricey, but Chelsea Market is a bit of a tourist trap. Nevertheless an enjoyable lunch.

Oyster lovers place!

By KestasKS |

A place not to miss for anyone who loves seafood and oysters in particular. A great selection between East and West coast. Good service, selection of wines.

Birthday celebration

By Carole S |

We booked Cull and Pistol, from the UK months before visiting NYC to celebrate two birthdays. We had a fantastic evening. The food was fabulous, Mabella, our server was great and we would definitely visit again. Thank you to everyone at Cull and Pistol for making it such a memorable evening.

Tasty dinner but give me time to enjoy my meal

By 0Ave2013 |

I love this restaurant in the Chelsea market, my server was lovely and the food was great! My only issue was I felt like as a solo diner I was being rushed out the door

Nice surprise! Savory & Fresh!

By minniemeris |

We were seated surprisingly quickly, greeted by friendly staff. Ordered some white wine which was excellent, also a nice surprise and had some wonderful shoshito peppers, grilled corn and their grilled fish with Fennel slaw. Everything was served in good time, staff was eager to please and we really had nothing negative to Say! All dishes were hot, fresh and delicious!

Awesome find

By Shem B |

Located in the Chelsea Market (see separate review), my wife and I went here on Monday night for dinner and liked it so much we went back on Tuesday. If you love seafood creations you will love this place. They have an awesome happy hour at the bar from 4-6 pm with $1 oysters. Great selection of fresh oysters from primarily from eastern shore Staff is very knowledgeable and friendly. The seafood stew is to die for...homemade lobster stock made fresh daily (we had it both nights). The lobster & shrimp dumplings and lobster tostadas are great starters along with the oysters of course! Reservations for a table, bar is first come first serve and usually has a waiting list.

Good stop inside Chelsea Market

By CPSH |

We dined at the Cull and Pistol based on the recommendation of our hotel, The Maritime. After checking in, we made a reservation for 6:30. As it turns out, it’s a very small place and was pretty full so we’re glad we could walk right in. First off, our server Christine was fantastic! Just the right amount of friendly chitchat and helpful tips about the menu. We ordered shrimp cocktail (4) and oysters (2) from the raw bar. Tasty but the shrimp were overdone. For apps we had Fritos Misto, fried calamari which was fried slightly too long. It was good but on the edge of being overdone. Also the Pistols on Horseback which were tasty. For entrees I ordered the salmon schwarma pita. It was delicious and the pita was stuffed to overflowing so def got my money’ worth. Husband got the grilled octopus and was very impressed with his meal. Don’t bother with the broccoli rabe- it’s very bitter! After all that we were stuffed and didn’t order dessert. The menu is somewhat limited but we’d definitely go back if we’re ever in the neighborhood again.

Great food and service

By Cathy L |

I booked a table online as we were in New York celebrating my mother's 80th birthday. She loves lobster so this seemed to be a good place. It was fantastic. The wait staff were knowledgeable, efficient and very pleasant. And the food didn't disappoint either. Wonderful grilled lobster cooked to perfection. (And a delicious free dessert for the birthday girl!)I will definitely eat here again when I return to New York.

Oysters to die for

By S1PRADA |

This is a great place to have oysters. Dumplings also delicious and all other appetizers. Definitely a great place to have seafood tapas

A Bit Diappointed

By Randall4867 |

Made reservation through open table after reading many TA reviews. Special trip to NYC....dining here is not special...no need to reserve as on a recent Saturday night there were only tow other couples seated at 7 30 PM.....so the waiter seats us by the entry to the kitchen/busing area...great!!! food was small portions and expensive...drinks expensive and service VERY medium

Gazpacho Lovers Take Note

By colleen1936 |

The thick, velvety green gazpacho is based on avocado and tomatillo and is just what you want a creative gazpacho to taste like. There are plenty of seafood dishes to choose from, taken from the fabulous fish treasury next door. Be sure to make reservations, the place is small and the Chelsea Market draws more visitors than ever.

Amazing Seafood & cool place

By maradg |

I’m an Oyster fan, that’s why we came in the first place. I gotta say, this are the best fresh oysters Ive ever had! We had the grilled lobster as a main dish. Really juicy and tender. Great for a date or night out with family.

Steamed Lobster n.1

By Fabrizio C |

Inside Chelsea Market. I had dinner at the bar counter: Cool, nice guests, friendly and great seafood.

Great seafood

By dedalus75000 |

I love eating at their bar. Great selection of oysters, perfect king crab. We didn’t really like the shrimp tacos or the lobster bun that much, but all in all a great place. Weekdayd 4-6 they have a oyster happy hour, so it’s great value for money then.

Great Little Spot

By NJTX1955 |

Picked this place in Chelsea Market for fresh seafood. Had several different oysters and scallops from raw bar. The ones from west coast were much better than east coast. We had the soft shell crab sandwich and it was to die for. It was so good we ordered another! Service was a little slow but it was packed. Would definitely go again.

Very good.

By Brian D |

We really enjoyed our meal at Cull & Pistol. The food was very good and the staff was great. Two thumbs up.

Excellent Oysters

By 42travel366 |

The host was friendly and sat us right away at the bar. Had the chowder - which was flavorful and several oysters - which were yum. The 'cocktail' service was poor as we noticed the bartender did not know how to make cocktails (kept asking others how to make a drink) - so ordered wine instead, which was good. Loved the big jars of mignonette and cocktail sauce at the table. The oyster shooters were good too. Overall nice experience! Enjoy.

Worth negotiating the Chelsea Market mob to get to

By hanleydouglas |

If you like seafood this is a worthwhile place to hit. A bit loud, a bit tight, not much in the way of decor so just focus on your food and your company. We selected an order of 1/2 oysters - list changes daily - and 4 appetizers: fluke crude (*****), fried calamari (****), shrimp & lobster dumplings (****) and the Spanish octopus (*****). Limited and fairly reasonable beer/wine list except the beer special that night @ $16. That better be a damn good beer!

Tasty oyster experience

By Aloha J |

Very nice and fresh seafood. Oyster trial platter was fabulous! Clam chowder the best I've had so far! The service was very quick and friendly, also!

Oyster bar

By Jeremy W |

In the busy and fun Chelsea Market. Seafood specialties. We usually like the oyster tasting platter. Everything seemed very fresh - although a bit of stomach upset later - be warned about eating shellfish in a non 'ber' month.Sea food chowder was good as were the eggs benedict with crab. We have never had a problem before so maybe just on off oyster

Good

By PeterBruceG |

We sat at the bar and had attentive service. The oysters were good. The lobster sandwich seemed quite plain unfortunately. They should take the potstickers off the menu because they were cooked way too much and had no flavour whatsoever. Enjoy the octopus Ragu.

Wonderful experience

By paolopitelli2015 |

My wife and I went back after 2 years in this small bistrot inside the Chelsea Mkt. Food was perfect (lobsters grilled and steamed on top). But the best added value came from the service: quick, smart and professional. Higly recommended.

Great first experience of lobster roll

By Andreas W |

Went to this place located in Chelsea market after reading some reviews here on TA. We ate lobster roll for first time and it was amazing! I can really recommend this place!

Delicious lobster roll

By James Simon |

Delicious lobster roll, with a soft bun. High quality and fresh and comes with a side of tasty fries. Topped it off with a refreshing lemonade. Looking forward to going back and trying the oysters and other dishes on the menu

Fresh from the Sea

By Stacy Dot |

Set in the popular Chelsea Market the Cull and Port is a small lively seafood bar restaurant. Highly recommended are the oysters, and the fish and chips and well basically everything you chose on the menu are is fresh, and and full of taste. Great service, and with friendly staff this place is a great way to wile away an afternoon.

Great Lobster rolls

By Diana Milena L |

The lobster rolls are just great, fresh and delicious. A nice thing to do is to have them to take away and eat them at the High Line.

One of the best lunches I ever had!

By George |

We had lunch in October 2019. Only now I find the time for a review... Never mind! If ever you have the opportunity to dine there, go! Have oysters, the hot lobster roll, the full set! All so fresh and tasty!

Seafood

By Vanessa |

We love everything about this place! Our friends were in town to visit and they had a blast as well. One of the best places for seafood. Must try: Mussels stew Shrimp Tacos Maine Lobster Roll Fish and Chips Grilled Octopus (appetizer) Calamari (appetizer) Oysters and Shrimp cocktail They also have a nice selection of beer, wine and cocktails. And the cocktail sauce is the bomb!

LOVE

By Katalakk |

Go here about 2 times a year for happy hour oysters. Great white wine on HH and service is good and friendly. Get there 20 min early to get a spot. Starts at 4pm.

Happy Hour Heaven.

By Angela V |

Visited Chelsea market and saw the happy hour advertised 4-6pm. Although busy, the waiter was quick to slot us in as we waited outside. We ordered 6 oysters (just #1.50 each in happy hour), 2 lobster rolls, fries, a glass of wine and a sangria cocktail. All arrived quickly and were delicious and fresh. You could see the seafood bring prepared from the bar. We left our teenagers outside waiting for their burger pick up from another restaurant, so we were all happy. Would have happily have stayed longer and sampled the seafood platters that were coming out too. Happily go again.

Amazing Oyster Bar

By Dirk R |

Amazing place in Chelsea to enjoy a variety of different oysters as well as more delicious seafood including fresh lobster. Will come back for sure

Great for groups!

By Emma G |

I went to Cull and Pistol with a large Italian group (24 people). The food was excellent and so was the service, even with all the special requests and dietary issues. The guests were very happy with the quality of the seafood and the wines, and everyone loved the banana pudding. I will definitely return with more groups!

Good if you want to wait for a long time after 4pm

By Ivonne C |

Nice. Good service and bartenders. Clean loooooong wait for Happy Hour or any other after 4. Don’t come if you don’t have the time to wait because ā€œthatā€s the way it’s always isā€ according to its Staff…

Delicious oysters and lobster

By Richard J |

Had a couple of oysters, shared a couple of starters (swordfish and octopus) and then a grilled lobster with fries and fried Brussels as sides. All excellent, fairly pricey, but excellent!

Love the Oysters

By Ruddy_Was_Here |

I have a friend from Berlin in town and I thought it would be a good idea to revisit the oyster happy hour at cull & pistol. It was, like always, a fabulous time with a selection of oysters and snacks that made my friend request to ho back again before her trip is over. The lobster tostada is my new favorite from the snack menu. Thank you to the Manager Tiffiny for being so attentive and welcoming.

A great little restaurant

By James H |

Chelsea Market is a great building with numerous bars and restaurants contained within, the food at Cull and Pistol can’t be praised enough and their wine list, whilst not extensive, provided a throughly good Pinot Gris from Oregon which was very well balanced. If this is a taste of the wines on offer then I’m sure the others are good too! Overall a very good night, the food is excellent (best oysters I’ve ever had) and the staff are friendly.

More of a tourist trap but raw bar very good

By Stephen B |

More of a tourist trap but raw bar very good. Very tight quarters with little room between tables. Very noisy. We started with a raw bar of oysters and Alaska crab. Excellent. We then had the lobster bake for two. The sweet corn left too much flavor for my taste. Worse, however, was that the dish had sand in it, probably because the clams had not been purged. The service was kind and helpful according to my guest. I personally could not hear our waitress sitting as I was with my back to the wall. Pricing is high end in my mind. There's only one alley in the restaurant. I would hate to think of what would happen in a fire.

A temple to North-American oysters

By Than P |

We really wanted to eat oysters and lobster in New York. This place is incredible and is to be preferred to next door's Lobster Place food court : it is intimate, with caring and knowledgeable staff, and boasts a very large selection of top-notch oysters. Lobster rolls are not to be missed, providing heavenly pleasure (brioche-like bread, tasty firm lobster, butter ...).

Exceptional seafood restaurant

By Anthony B |

Exceptional food in fun eatery in Chelsea Market. We ate the Connecticut lobster rolls, fried oysters, and several glasses of Viognier. Very good service, fun place, very tasty food. We could have eaten everything on the menu.

Amazing ..!

By Lanette T |

Lovely spot in Chelsea Market. Fresh oysters, Clams, scallops were all excellent. Cuttlefish and shrimp skewers on a delicious squid ink aioli, perfect and tasty tuna crispy rice and divine octopus. Great wine selection as well. Loved it so much wanted to go back a few days later but they were booked solid. Best meal we had during our one week visit to NY.

Used to be good and nice… sadly became a tourist and unfriendly place šŸ‘Ž

By MC6363 |

Used to be a great place… We have been there so often and advised family and friends to use this place but over the years it is getting worse and worse’s Today as all crowds around but with a pre booking, the table was not ready at the proper time as booked (while there were several empty table). Despite the situation, the hostess was just inefficient and even rude…. Instead of giving some assistance or apologies, she just asked us to sit outside the restaurant, in the middle of the crowd … So we left and had lunch nearby in one other much nicer place…. There are plenty other place’s around so prefer the restauration hardware guesthouse were you can also eat great seafood with a great service and a much nicer place

Lobster Rolls To-Die-For!!!!

By LivinglifeinPA |

We have visited Chelsea Market many times for gourmet food shopping, but have never been there at lunch time. On this trip to NYC, our lunch stop was at Chelsea Market, instead of Little Italy, so my daughter & I took advantage of that by dining at Cull & Pistol. SO glad that we did! We explained to our server, Gabriela, that we were on a definite time schedule and she assured us that we would be served promptly to ensure a timely departure. She did exactly that!!! We had more than ample time to enjoy both a glass of wine and the delicious Lobster Roll. We both chose the Maine-style preparation of it, but on our next visit, we're going to try the other style too. This restaurant is definitely an oasis in the midst of the craziness of Chelsea Market!!!

What a find!

By taurusCroydon |

Wonderfully intimate oyster bar inside Chelsea Market. Very knowledgeable staff, lovely welcome and introduction to fare available. Hit the bar at happy hour...so even better! Chilled lobster so succulent and flavour some. Even found and held husbands lost phone 😱. More than 5 stars in my book. Thank you will definitely return when next in Big Apple.

No nonsense fish

By Epicureously |

Really enjoyed our evening here. Sat at the counter. Had bought seafood many times from there store next door so knew quality would be good. Not disappointed. Oysters to start were great quality. Followed by lobster roll which was also great. Mound of chips not necessary for me but, hey this is USA. Reasonably priced carafe of wine. Very attentive service and nice atmosphere. Good value for money.

Waste of Time!

By MeDashA |

Clueless staff and bad customer service at this tourist trap. Very aggravating experience! We left angry and upset. I would recommend going elsewhere

Okay experience

By Sarah H |

My boyfriend and I stopped in as we wanted a drink and something small to eat. We each got 2 drinks, 6 oysters, and split an appetizer (the dumplings). The oysters and dumplings were really tasty. However, when only ordering just oysters and the dumplings, our server seemed shocked that we were not getting more food/any mains. After this, the service we received from him was very cold and almost rude. It’s not a requirement to get any main dishes here, and the restaurant was basically empty, so I was confused as to why we were treated this way. Won’t be returning.

Excellent as always

By Nahi |

Must have come here at least 6-7 times in the last 3 years and it never fails. Charming set up, excellent food, great service. Caveat: go for lunch

Perfect Oysters and Crustacea

By maxr56 |

Really stunning the freshest seafood, visited twice it was so good, simply put exceptional oysters, Cali urchins, and perfectly boiled lobsters. Great value for money especially if you lunch during their "Happy Hour", attentive friendly service, go hungry as its rare to find oysters opened so perfectly and in benchmark condition.

Why is Dining in America so Expensive?

By Cynthia W |

Really good food. Really small portions. Love the food hall experience and I recommend checking out their oysters at happy hour when they seem to be half price. Enjoyed my 2 grilled sardines and the lobster roll was very good. But seriously the same food in Madrid or London is half the price. The concept of dining at a market is to sample several items. At these prices sampling adds up $ quickly.

Oysters at the bar

By olan01 |

Love this place, buzzeling and music yes but really nice and friendly staff. Great variety of oysters - the Ceviche and lobster dumplings were great!

Favorite place in Chelsea Market!

By Kelsey Reed |

My husband and I went here for the first time recently and it is now our favorite place in Chelsea Market! Excellent oyster options that were super fresh! Staff was very friendly and helpful with our selections. We will be back!!!

Fresh Seafood, Mediocre Service

By mikel68 |

First off the seafood is fresh, nothing to complain about there. I'll be the first to tell you... I don't really know what the heck is the difference in oysters. I eat them, if they're good, hooray, if they're not so great, boo. That's my extent. Yes, I get it, different waters, areas, etc. They are knowledgeable here and help you through it. We enjoyed the oyster sampler, langostino, Crab Claws, shrimp cocktail and oysters shooters. I had a Peach Sangria...that was not so great. Really bland and watered down. The menu fonts/type is really small and difficult to read in the lighting. It was difficult for us to read and our server as well. He forgot, or didn't see anything we ordered except the oysters. When he brought the oysters I asked if things are coming out in courses. I could see the look on his face...just about to roll his eyes until he looked at what we ordered. He did apologize and and gave us the oyster shooters on the house. It's not super cheap...as the Peach Sangria was $12.00, but overall with everything we ordered the outcome was expected.

Freshest of fresh, delicious food and excellent service

By Laura |

Oysters are incredible. Superb, warm service. You are seated very very close to the next table as this is a small place but it’s totally worth it. The food was stunning.

Pleasant Surprise

By EmilyManassas |

We normally love to dress up and go to Le Bernadin or Eleven Madison Park, or the like, for dinner when in NY. We decided to stay casual and try Cull and Pistol. It was such a treat. We shared the lobster clambake. Wow! The seafood was steamed in a delicious broth, not spicy, but tasty. We had so much fun eating this fabulous New England treat in the Big Apple. If you like this kind of food, or seafood towers with oysters, little necks, and crab, go to Cull and Pistol in the Chelsea Market. It is a hole isn’t the wall joint with excellent food.

Wonderful Oysters! Seafood specialists !!

By TheFamilyFeliz |

LOVED the food, we were happy to get seated right away as everyplace in Chelsea Market was packed as it was Father’s day weekend, we sat at the bar right in front of the oysters! We had the sampler oyster appetizer which was handed to us by the guy that shucked them right in front of us and he explained each oyster to us. I had the lobster eggs Benedict, which was excellent, sauce was perfect! My wife had the seafood stew, which she loved and our son had fish and chips, which he said was the best he ever had...and he has it anytime it is on a menu, any menu in any part of the world!! The gentleman behind the counter was part of the reason we had such a great experience!!

Great seafood place

By Outnabout |

Of all the incredible looking places in Chelsea Market this one appealed to us and most and luckily we were not disappointed! It was very busy (it was lunchtime) but we managed to get a table and due to the many tantalising options we chose a host of options from the menu. Everything we had was absolutely delicious and i just wish we had ordered more. Not cheap but definitely worth it.

Great lobster Roll

By Dogsey |

Very busy place, as soon as we walked a lovely young lady found us a table and all the staff were wonderful after that. We had the lobster roll Connecticut style and it was beautiful. Full of flavor. Would go back again. Don’t go weekend as the Chelsea Market is very busy.

Eat like the locals do

By Marky |

When in Rome... Avoid the costly seafood fayre of seafood restaurants in midtown New York and head to the Cull & Pistol, as the locals do, for fantastic fresh seafood and seafood dishes in this bustling eatery. Just off the back of the Chelsea Food Market you're guaranteed the freshest of seafood, be that from the raw bar or the tasty menu on offer. Well priced, great value for money and excellent service too.

Amazing food

By Ursula |

The food & drinks were incredible. Small & quaint spot in the Chelsea Market with fresh seafood. We did not have to wait very long for a table but some people did and it is totally worth it. We tried several items on the menu and enjoyed it all. The lobster Benedict, the shrimp tacos and the dumplings were so good and of course we had to try the oysters. Very fresh, crisp and creamy flavors.

Love it

By Nahi |

Great produce Great food Good wine list Excellent Service Nice location, but not perfect for a true seafood experience (no views, no lounging - straight up eat and leave experience)

Amazing oysters and crab

By Austyn S |

Raw bar par excellence, oysters and crab to die for, great wine list , all in Chelsea Market, haven from the cold. We had shrimp, oyster platter, octapus and crab, all excellent

Delighted Expectations

By Jeffry Levy |

Walked in with my date and was delighted at the prompt service. We started with the oyster, and moved on to lobster. If i were you I'd shell out the extra cash to pair the dinner with some champagne. Honestly quaint atmosphere, would return for another meal.

Outstanding!

By John S |

This is another one of the many great spots inside of Chelsea Market. My cousin and I had a quick lunch here and it definitely did not disappoint. The seafood here, (particularly the oysters) are crazy fresh. Unfortunately I don't get to New York that often so I only get to eat here maybe twice a year but whenever I do get to New York this is definitely one of my stops.

Good service, lobster overcooked, fresh oysters

By City-hopper |

Like the oysters, lobster ...quite disappointed with it being overcooked. Ate with friends who're New Yorkers. Good service though.

Exceptional seafood place

By Ivan S |

Exceptional oysters, great cold platters, really nice main courses. And really reasonable wine prices. While it might be a tad difficult to get a spot, in my view it is one of the best seafood places in the city.

Lucked into a spot at the bar

By Matt M |

Was in the area after a walk on the High Line and decided to give it a shot without a reservation. Was able to snag a spot at the bar and enjoyed a nice glass of wine and some super fresh oysters and clams. Just went with the mix suggested on the menu and found the variety very impressive. Service was excellent without being overbearing and quality was very high. Definitely worth the stop!

Great oysters and drinks during happy hour

By Mike C |

We walked around the Chelsea Market and stumbled upon Cull & Pistol. We wanted Oysters and dirty Martinis and thats what we got. The staff was so helpful and steered us in the right direction. The drinks were amazing and the atmosphere was fun but not overly loud. We loved this place and would recommend stoping in for lunch. We tried the clam chowder fries they were amazing...

Lunch in Chelsea, NYC

By Vy H. |

Came here randomly for lunch Sunday—luckily there was availability so we grabbed two seats at the bar. Our bartender Teresa was awesome—friendly, attentive and made really great cocktails! Food and drinks were great!! Started off with Raw Oyster and tried the Oyster Shooter which was interesting—the oyster was laid on top the shot glass and had bacon pieces! Really enjoyed the Linguine & Clams and the Connecticut Lobster Roll (warm style)—would recommend those. And to splurge a bit, we got the Siberian Sturgeon Caviar ($78)—OMG it was delicious! Our cocktails were great too!

Best fish & seafood restaurant in NYC!

By John |

This by far is the best fish & seafood in New York! The food is so delicious and they cater for food allergies/intolerances. I really struggle to find places in NYC that cater for GF/DF, but this place does. Whilst there was not a lot of options, I enjoyed my mussels. The menu isn’t huge, but there’s a lot of choice and various options to choose from. We only had an entree, which in the US is big enough to feed two people. We couldn’t fault anything! The service is fantastic, all of the team make you feel welcome. Astrid served us and she was brilliant. Nothing was too much trouble and she really made our experience memorable. Astrid is an asset to your team :)

Food, Service, Ambiance, Location 10/10

By Jessica Tiburcio |

One of my best girlfriends was walking around the Chelsea Market and decided to give Cull & Pistol a try. No regrets! The place is clean and the service is of quality. The food was finger-licking good. We shared the calamari, the lobster roll, and fries. The location is also great. Plus you're right in the middle of a market. You can get your steps in after devouring the food and conceiving the food baby. Hahaha. I cannot wait to come back to try the other options.

Standing room only

By BJspyjamas |

Situated within The Lobster Pot, you will find this place down the far end on the right. You order from a list of around 10 choices from one window and then wait for your number to be called from another. Note: there are NO SEATS in the surrounding area, just long table tops to stand and eat at. We chose lobster roll and shrimp with fries. Everything was delicious. With a beer and raspberry blush sangria it came to around $40. Highly recommended.

Oyster Happy Hour still good value!

By Linda W |

Even though the price has increased to $1.50 per oyster, I think it is still good value for the quality and variety of oysters on offer.

Lobster Joint In the Market

By Carmen R |

Hungry for fresh lobster without being on the water, then visit the Chelsea Market and the restaurant that the Lobster store had the sense to add on to their retail fish store. Great staff who are there to serve as quickly as possible with tasty side dishes, a huge assortment of raw bar items as well as an small entertaining cocktail menu. This is a restaurant who serves singles, daters and families with small children all with the same welcoming treatment and grace. The noise levels is comparable to a beach lobster shed and has the same upbeat atmosphere.

Always on the Roster!

By Christine Williams |

Every time I am in NY I always take the time to eat at Cull & Pistol. For a full meal or even just some raw goodies to start off with, this place is my favorite. The oysters are amazing and the wine and beer selection is great. We always have good service and the atmosphere cannot be beat. I would recommend a reservation if you want a table but the bar top is also a great experience in and of itself. Highly recommend!

Very good lobster

By mohammed k |

Very good Oyster and lobster rolls. There's two kind of lobster rolls and both are delicious. Service was nice and staff is greet

A delight of shellfish

Nestled in Chelsea market the experience at the cull and pistol was amazing. Apparently the shellfish comes from next door where there is an abundance of choice from all around the world. Back in the restaurant lobster was the choice preceded by crab and lobster dumplings, amazing, I can’t begin to tell you that if you love shellfish oysters etc then a visit is a must, great staff and a brilliant place

Wonderful Seafood!

By cooker72 |

A cute small restaurant in Chelsea Market! A wonderful seafood market next door that we visited first and noticed the two were related.... Raw oysters were great, as was the Lobster Roll...the warm one! Drinks were great. Lobster Bisque was not on the menu, but they got it from the fish market next door and it was yummy! Great wait staff too!

Unpretentious but tasty seafood with friendly and smart service.

By clinth669 |

Really nice seafood restaurant with EXCELLENT service. Nathaly knew the menu well- informing my choices of oysters as well as helping me stay clear of items with gluten. Also, you should try the ā€œPickled Maryā€- a savory slap in your mouth that is perfect with oysters!

Outstanding food killed by subpar service

By Elissar B |

I was craving good seafood after being away in meat. Metric country for 2 Weeks. Called the restaurant they said no tables available due to big parties in restaurant for the evening. We temped our lunch anyway since we love around the corner. We eat here so often and have never had dishes that were not outstanding. The service was, however, one of the worst we ever had. Waited forever before got acknowledged. Never offered drinks. And we asked she said let me leave a menu and will be right back, she never did circle back on the order. Some of us ordered appetizers and a main course. One appetizer was delivered first and then the other ones arrived with the main courses crowding the table. The food here is not tapas. It is delicate seafood that shops be eaten when temperature is best and not nibbling on random dishes. We never said we were doing a family share meal. Needless to say, the waitress seemed completely disinterested in doing this job. We will go back to Cull and Pistol but will make sure that we get one of the other regular staff members.

Great Food

This is a great seafood restaurant. Everything is fresh and tasty. I enjoyed the lobster roll and the fresh oysters and i will go back .

Shooters for Amateurs

By C K Trevillyan |

So My wife and I talked our 12yr old into trying oyster shooters for the first time ever. And what a boon to land on Cull and Pistol at Chelsea Market. An oyster bar with a varied description informing us of the salinity, meat content, finish, and palate was perfect. Small canisters of cocktail sauce, a terrific sweet sauce, some freshly grated horseradish, were on deck, then the gorgeous bowl of ice and a selection of half shells arrives. With the promise of jewelry and other sundries, we boomeranged her first down the hatch. ā€œNot too badā€ she says. We may have created a monster. Needless to say the outstanding freshness, superb presentation, and knowledgeable staff made a potential nightmare a fun time.

Great seafood restaurant in Chelsea Market

By MrNotty |

We were looking for a light lunch in Chelsea Market and found this seafood restaurant. You could have anything from one or two oysters to huge platters. As we weren't that hungry I had shrimp skewer, my husband the clam chowder, we shared bread rolls with a glass of wine. The staff are very efficient and friendly.

too crowded

By Wendy M |

food not the best. very dissapointed with the choices. it is a tourist place as well as the rest of the market

Good potion in Chelsea market

By Eddie |

First time in Chelsea market. Took me a little while to decide where I wanted to it, but I saw Cull & Pistol and decided to give it a chance. Host found me a seat very quickly at the bar. My waitress was very polite and quick, but she did not explained the menu, so I had a lot of doubts on what to choose, so I had to open google and see what other people were suggesting. Something that I noticed was the other staff, they were explaining the menu to all the costumers, so maybe my waitress forgot to do it. Started with oysters and then had a Connecticut style Lobster roll. Unfortunately most of my oysters had shell pieces on it, what made me a little frustrated. On the other hand, the roll was very good. Overall, I recommend this restaurant.

Really fresh oysters

By snoozermoose |

The half-off happy hour here is a great deal. Not quite buck a shuck, but for the quality of the seafood we got, we were happy paying $1.75 per oyster. They came plated beautifully and were so fresh and sweet. Our waitress upsold us into ordering a raw scallop dish that was just okay. I'd skip that next time.

Amazing Oyster Selection

By AROB171 |

Loved the Cull and Pistol at Chelsea Market. If you love seafood - oysters, etc. Don’t miss it. Prices are good, service was excellent and great selection, had variety of fresh oysters, shrimp, lobster rolls, chowder (delicious and husband is from Boston) :) and excellent service recommendations for wine pairing. Can’t wait to go back one day.

Small place, big taste!

By ogie0413 |

On a recent trip to NYC, my husband and I chose to eat here. After a serving from the raw bar, we chose the appetizer Shrimp and Lobster Dumplings. It was so delicious and served with a smoky soy sauce. Next time this WILL be my meal!

Super taste

We enjoyed fresh oysters, lobsters and seafood. Nice & clean restaurant. We're looking forward to come again.

Excellent restaurant in chelsea market

Great ambient, great music, service and excellent food. Plenty variety, best sea food in town. Quiet place perfect to talk is an oasis in the middle of chelsea market caos.

Lunch at the raw bar was outstanding

By Brad M |

Many wonderful looking choices in Chelsea Market. We opted for Cull & Pistol given the great looking raw bar spread. The looks delivered. The Oyster sampling was amazing as was the New England Clam Chowder and the Spanish Octopus. Definitely a must hit when in the neighborhood.

Delicious Lobster Roll

By maxaprili |

I went to this palce inside Chelsea market after climbing the Vessel in Hudson Yards...try the Lobster Roll, Cunnecticut style with Japanese mayo,...simply delicious!!!

Excellent

By JMEA1 |

While exploring the Chelsea market, packed of people, we found this cozy place where we had a great Oyster and dumplig experience Very good service, nice ambiance, fast, cool Very reasonable price Will retour for sure Very reccomendable

Terrific for the most part, but go during happy hour

By Daveen P |

By far the best oysters I have ever had. Very interesting variety, and the presentation and quality were first-rate. I would caution that two orders of oysters (a dozen each) and two drinks each was $120, including tip. I do consider this reasonable, especially in a great environment like this, and in NYC, but looking at the menu for off-happy-hour prices, some of these individual oysters were $3 and up. So...go during happy hour when they're all $1.50. I didn't try my companion's red wine, but she didn't complain. I had a glass of white wine (happy hour special) that was really second rate, and a beer, which was decent. Overall a good experience.

Excellent seafood restaurant in Chelsea Market

By Christian D |

Seated at the bar of this small restaurant in Chelsea Market, to taste an interesting assortment of local oysters, with different tastes and textures, an excellent lobster roll (curiously accompanied by fries) and an ultra fresh and delicious scallop carpaccio. seasoned. We had a blast.

Lobster! Must have lobster...

By Scandude |

Definitely have the lobster. It is so good. We had grilled lobster and got our hands messy and loved it. Dip the claw meat into the liquid butter and devour the succulent yumminess. Take your time to enjoy every morsel. I could comment on the asparagus or dumplings or sardines which are all good but just go for the lobster. It’s better to go to the restaurant side rather than the fishmonger side. Do you can sit at the bar or table.

Good restaurant but not so good execution

By AndyYu |

We went there for dinner, where we ordered clams, oysters, fish stew, octopus and seared scallops. The food is a bit hit and miss in my opinion. The seared scallops are gorgeous on the plate, octopus was very delicious but I was quite disappointed with some of the oysters and the fish stew. Half of oysters we ordered had almost no flesh inside and fish stew was quite runny and doesn’t have much richness the dish normally has. It also needs some good seasoning. The oysters table next to us ordered looked absolutely gorgeous - diners should probably go for those babies when they are at this restaurant. I am also slightly disappointed at the wines we ordered, overall quality was not excellent for a no.1 ranked seafood restaurant in NYC. Everything else in the restaurant was top notch! Service was great, and ambience was excellent. I would suggest the restaurant to improve the food quality even more so hopefully I will give a 5 star next time I am there!!

don't often give 5 stars

By Mlleron |

Have eaten their twice since Jan 1. I usually go to the sushi bar next door, but just had sushi the 2 nights before. Sat at the bar and had a few oysters and a soft shell crab sandwich. Before when I was there only had oysters clam chowder and clams. Seafood all the time is the freshest it could be (better than the Grand Central Oyster Bar or John Dory). I love soft shell crabs and their soft shell crab sandwich is the best I have ever had by a whole lot. Only problem is that it can get real crowded. If you want to eat go early (around 11:30 am) and shop later.

Something a little more up market

By jaimieh90 |

If you're not looking for your generic farmer style market meal pop down to the restaurant and enjoy a delicious seafood treat with a glass of wine (or beer)!

Gourmet's delight at Chelsea Market

By r0bertpk |

This tiny restaurant is tucked into a corner beside the wholesale fish market and retail store run by the same family. It is the perfect place for lunch or dinner if you are visiting the Chelsea Market - or just love fresh seafood. Huge variety of oysters, clams and other delicacies. Menu changes with the catch. Excellent wine list. Very friendly professional service. A real treat for seafood lovers.

Solid

By Nahi |

Been going here for years - it’s become a staple tradition; every time we’re in New York, we go for a lunch. This time we tried the Connecticut Lobster Roll - Oh My God!

Beautiful flavours

By EFreviews |

If you want fresh, delicious seafood, Cull & Pistol is where you need to go. I had the most amazing New England clam chowder to start, whilst my other half had their Spanish octopus - both delicious. We both had a Connecticut-style lobster roll for our mains, which had beautiful flavours. Highly recommend Cull & Pistol for delicious seafood.

love

By vonnie17weimann17 |

I love the restaurant in Chelsea; the food was excellent, especially the oysters and lobster rolls. Though I felt rushed dining alone, the overall experience was positive. After visiting the 911 Memorial, I headed to the market for lunch and tried Cull & Pistol based on recommendations. Despite the crowd, I got a table quickly. Gabriela, my server, suggested a dozen assorted oysters, which were delicious and diverse in flavors. The clam chowder with puff pastry and bread and butter were also top-notch. I'd highly recommend this place if you're around Chelsea.

Fabulous

By doubledayt |

This is a tiny restaurant in the heart of the must see Chelsea market. It is bustling and vibrant and sits next to the large shop where all the seafood is sold. So everything is super fresh. The staff are friendly and efficient. The lobster rolls were fantastic. I would return in a heartbeat

Oysters

By Oleg S |

If you like oysters it’s your place. You can try 10 different types of oysters. Happy hours time 16:00-18:00 pricing 1,5$ per one.

Superb!

By Akane O |

Great place for a lovely lunch! Service is great! Fresh seafood, lobster rolls and New England clam chowder to die for!!

Outstanding meal and service

By T8travels |

Tiny restaurant in Chelsea market. Boisterous atmosphere. We had oysters to start, and then decided on the Lobster roll, and the clambake for two. This easily fed our party of four. The flavors in the clambake were amazing - we needed extra bread to sop up the great sauce. Would absolutely go back again. Staff was friendly and helpful with recommendations on food and wine.

Wonderful oysters and staff

By nadine w |

Chelsea Market was very busy and it was getting late for lunch. We were a group of 8 adults and three children and wanted to sit down for lunch. The staff were very helpful and soon found a table and immediately took the order for the children. Service and food were very good. I have never liked oysters very much but theirs were so small and delicious that I loved them. So sorry that we didn't have time this trip to return!!!

Fab find in Chelsea Market

By Kevin K |

To avoid pizza & burgers we researched this place and the walk to it felt very authentic New York from Times Square down to Chelsea the change in blocks was a real eye opener!! Arriving in Chelsea feels salubrious and finding Chelsea market you’re transported to a whole new chilled area of NYC! Service from start to finish was attentive and welcoming even wishing my partner a happy birthday! Oysters were amazing and we had the baked lobster in crock pot with looooads of seafood, potatoes of all colours, sweet corn etc! It was delicious!!! Wine was great and they even brought out a key lime pie with a candle for my partners birthday aw an extra wee touch! Loved this place! GO!!!

Outstanding Seafood!

By Micheline H |

We found this restaurant whilst wandering through Chelsea Market and were so pleased we came in for lunch. Exceptionally fresh seafood, the selection of oysters is amazing and the lobster roll is delicious! Great service, Joanne was wonderful, answered all our questions and made our lunch a memorable one šŸ™‚

Amazing Lobster

By CathyfromFW |

As Texans, we can get great beef, but sadly, no lobster. Every time we are on the East Coast, we make it a point to eat lobster. We particularly enjoyed our lobster meal at the Cull and Pistol. The meat was so sweet. The portion is large (1 1/2 lbs), so I recommend that you split a side dish. The restaurant is very casual (inside the Chelsea market). Service was good but I thought the wine list was overpriced.

Yummy food, slack service

By tal202 |

I popped in for a solo late lunch one Friday afternoon having really enjoyed my meal during my last visit to NYC. There were plenty of seats (although I appreciate some may have had future reservations) but was told to wait as they eventually and somewhat reluctantly squeezed me in between other groups. I opted for a glass of New York rose, a bowl of the New England clam chowder and a side of bread. The food and drink were all absolutely delicious if a tad on the pricey side. I do think soup should automatically come with bread - the mini circle of pastry didn’t quite help with mopping it all up. Service was just super slow and I had no idea who my actual waiter was meant to be. No one seemed to take accountability for my food or bill and it took ages to pay up. The staff behind the bar were equally disinterested - despite standing straight opposite staff, quite often with nothing to do, at no point did they make eye contact or engage with the people eating. That with the rude start in getting me seated just put a dampener on the whole experience.

Excellent Oysters and Clam Chowder

By betsyco2016 |

After spending several hours at the 911 Memorial and Museum, we caught a cab to Chelsea Market looking for lunch. We had read about Cull & Pistol on TA, so decided to give it a try. Chelsea Market was crazy with people, but we were able to get a table without any wait. We wanted to have oysters, and our server, Gabriela, recommended we start with a dozen oysters: 4 each of 3 different oysters. They came with housemade cocktail sauce, with shredded horseradish and Tabasco on the side, as well as mignonette. All were excellent and it was fun to compare the different tastes. We then shared a bowl of clam chowder, which came with a small puff pastry on top, and we also ordered bread and butter. Gabriela gave us great service. Highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area or visiting the Market.

Delicious seafood restaurant

By josy9 |

Amazing seafood, special, fresh and tasty! We had a six oysters plate with three types of oysters (who knew that oysters have different taste?) , sea urchin (first time that I see it on a menu and not only on TV), lobster (yummy) and delicious seafood broth.

Amazing experience

By CADreamin |

After frequenting a couple of other restaurants during our six day trip, our family of ten decided to try Cull & Pistol based on its reviews and location (Chelsea Market). We were able to make reservations; however, do note that in order for them to accept reservations for that size crowd, you need to give them your credit card AND be willing to accept the fact that, should you cancel within 48-hours of your reservation, you are charged $25/head. We arrived and were seated right away. This isn't a large restaurant by any means and, in fact, it's more of a 'sit at the bar' and order oysters type of a restaurant -- which we love. Our server was Lindsey and she was truly amazing. First off, she treated our four pre-teen and teenage grandsons like they were "real people" (something that some restaurants are loathe to do .... ). She explained everything on the menu, fielded our questions, took our orders and then kept an eye on us the whole time. We ordered two servings of oysters (18 oysters in each serving) and they were delicious. Even our grandsons slurped them down with gusto. Some members had the lobster roll which they declared was fantastic while others had various entrees -- all of which were great. Our home is on "the other coast" so we know seafood and Cull & Pistol is one to try when in New York. Great food, a fantastic waitperson ... what more could you ask for?!?! Thanks C&P!!

Stop here for fresh, delicious seafood at Chelsea Market

By Kay S |

We were a table of five. Greeted warmly and professionally. Oyster sampling of 3 varieties was spot on. Lobster tostadas consisted of 2 blue corn chips layered with guacamole, peach, lobster, baby sprouts - delicious. For an appetizer, the verde gazpacho was also delicious and beautiful to look at. The soup was tangy with a bite of heat, a ring of lobster around the rim, melon balls. Fish and chips were enjoyed, two had the softshell crab sandwich and raved about it. We also had a "Connecticut" version of the lobster roll, which was also rated well. For drinks, we had a bizarre array of bourbon on the rocks, several sangrias, and some kind of rose-cider-beer (the bizarre part was us, not the drinks). We enjoyed all. Key lime pie for dessert was well-received, and on the house, as the manager thanked us for stopping in and shared a Birmingham connection with us. Friendly, delicious, fresh. Our experience was good.

Best Lobster in NYC

By Mauswiesel |

Located in the absolutely crazy Chelsea Market, Cull & Pistol offers seafood at its finest. Set up like a long bar, there is great fresh seafood, especially the lobster is really particularly good. 1.5 pounds, excellent grilled or boiled. Really a must in NYC if you like lobster.

Good but overpriced

By DGGM2017 |

Best clam chowder! Oysters were great. Salmon salad was ok. Sea urchin was ok. We went in there trying to get a break from the really crowded Chelsea market. Won’t go back other than for the chowder. We had better food (of the same kind) at better prices in other places. Service was ok.

Great Seafood

By TravelBear990 |

The seafood at Cull & Pistol is great! It's not cheap, and that's okay, because the food is super good...and maybe don't give if you're starving. I love to go for lunch, the menu is slightly different and they have these amazing shrimp tacos. They're the best shrimp tacos I've ever had, they're worth every dollar, and they will make you so happy. The oysters are great and super fresh. The beer and wine options are great, and you'll enjoy the drink before you have to go out in Chelsea Market again. The lobster roll is good, but I mean you could go to Maine...same quality though. Sit at the counter, sit at a tale, doesn't matter. Good Service, Great food, Fantastic Location!

Excellent First Visit

By Ellen L |

We visited Cull & Pistol during Restaurant Week and definitely enjoyed the menu. So often Restaurant Week menus are disappointing as they tend to highlight the least expensive options. We found that the Cull & Pistol menu was excellent and included items we wanted to order. The biggest hit for our group was the Banana Pudding. Three of the four of us ordered it and the one person who did not regretted his decision. We noticed other tables were having the same experience - those that ordered the key lime pie were definitely interested in switching with those that ordered the banana pudding.

Very nice

By Ben T |

This little spot at Chelsea Market was really nice: prompt service and good food. The price was fair for New York.

So good had to go twice

By Unt0uchable |

This place is unreal. I can not fault a single thing we ate. I am from London and I love my battered fish and chips but this is far better battered fish than I have ever tried in my life. Oysters great, lobster and shrimp dumplings amazing, lobster roll was so so good and even the pasta dish was spot on. Service was fantastic and the atmosphere was buzzing, can’t recommend this place enough.

Wonderful

Everything perfect ! The oysters, scallops, lobster, caviar... everything was wonderful... fast service. And attentive…. One of the bee meals I had in NY

Oysters in the City

By Amanda S |

Great oysters! Loved the oyster sampler. We sat at the bar towards the end of happy hour and were advised to order from the kitchen quickly. The bartender provided some excellent recommendations that were not oysters too. We enjoyed the mussels in curried coconut milk with yellow squash and corn. While the dish was delicious, it really needed more broth and perhaps some sourdough wedges to sop up the broth. As it was, we had to clean out each of the mussels and let them soak in the broth to enjoy the dish. The shrimp and lobster dumplings were also good. Great place to enjoy some oysters in the City.

Hidden Gem

By Joei W |

It was absolutely AMAZING!! This staff is awesome. Great customer service, the food was perfect temperature the taste was delicious. I can go on and on. I need a diet after visiting this restaurant. I even got to meet the Chef who happens to be named JLo! But make no mistakes she is a native of Brooklyn, not the Bronx. Soooo much Fun.

Excellent oysters

Sat at the bar- was good fun. Amazing oysters- had the platter for half dozen: was amazing. The dumplings next but was average. Had the US blanc de Blanc- was average. Service was good.

Amazing seafood -- a must stop at Chelsea Market!

By graceotravels |

This restaurant and meal was the sliver lining to being delayed in NYC due to flight cancellation. Amazing dinner -- the seafood was perfection, drinks were great, and kids loved the grilled octopus! I would definitely put this on my must-stops at Chelsea Market for all future trips to NYC!

Amazing food and great service

By EricInSF |

I arrived around 8:30 on a weeknight. About half full when I arrived, but completely full by 9:00p. I saw at the bar and was promptly greeted. Service was attentive throughout the evening. Great selection of beer. I recommend the IPA on tap. I had a selection of six oysters, which were amazing. And, for dinner I had the grilled octopus and the fresh grilled sardines. Both were delicious! Endure the crowds of Chelsea Market and eat here if you want great seafood.

Nice casual seafood dinner

By KLH21 |

Went here for dinner - it's located inside of a big market type of place with different restaurants and shops located within - casual spot, not all that big. We made reservations quite a ways out as I had read a lot of good reviews - we really enjoyed our dinner and the service was friend;y as well. They had a lovely rose cider mmmm, I got fish with risotto that had morels in it, very tasty - my bf got lobster and he really liked it. Would go back and would recommend.

Perfect lunch break after a walk on the High Line

By Josh L |

Fantastic lunch after a walk down the High Line. They took us right away at lunch at 1:00 pm. Phenomenally rich chowder. The shrimp cocktail was excellent -- the high quality of their product obvious. Excellent lobster roll. Highly recommended if you are in the Chelsea Market.

Lobster Rolls to die for!

By DeKokkies |

Walked by this place located next to a fish market so couldn’t resist to eat here. One of us had the seafood soup, in one word delicious, and the other had the lobster roll: amazing! Would recommend.

Amazing Oysters and Lobster!

By Hezmate |

The oysters were absolutely delicious. I had seven of them but could have just kept on going forever. The lobster roll was the softest and sweetest lobster i have ever had. A lovely wine to go with it and they even let me taste two wines to see which I preferred which was a nice touch. The waitress was very polite and accommodating and the venue had a lovely atmosphere. I really enjoyed it!

Some of the freshest seafood I've tasted in the world

By Diane A |

My husband and I couldn't get a reservation on our first night so we booked one for a few nights later. We wanted to eat light after a late lunch. Being from Maritime stock I know my oysters, so making the statement that this was some of the freshest seafood I've tasted in the world is high praise. I chose from 8 different oysters from the Atlantic and the Pacific. For dessert, I had a fresh scallop which must have been 3+inches in diameter, sliced really thin with a vinaigrette. I can still feel the taste in my mouth. Yum! My husband ate a little heartier than me and was delighted. The following night we visited the Lobster Place next store, which is the source of all this fresh seafood. People were sitting on stools eating lobster and sushi, fish... We chose some sushi and brought it to our flat in Chelsea. If you like seafood and fish it is a must.

everything was good

By John david |

everything was good especially seafoods are makes our family amazing. i mean perfect. if you don't know what is good. just try seagfoods

noisy and crowded

By 2jbsdad |

seafood menu is impressive, of course--- incredible list of oysters with data about each. It's more of a bar, I think, than a sit-down restaurant. Informal, casual, comfortable service. But would I go back? Probably not.

Best Lobster Roll

By JAndrewL |

I always sit at the bar and have dinner whenever in the city. The bartenders are excellent mixologists and will recommend cocktails for dinner if you enquire. The food is delicious but the stand out is their lobster roll. My favorite way to end a day is a cocktail, fresh oysters or clams and the lobster roll. Chelsea Market is so packed but one bite of this sandwich and you’ll forget about what’s outside.

Wow!!! Best fish and chips

By LH10 |

The food here is amazing. We tried the fish and chips, the fries are out of this world. Also, the oysters are fabulous!! This is a must try.

Love this place so much we decided on a glass of wine and Vinny kindly let us sample so that we had the wine we liked , we then had six oysters and four clams they were amazing and we really enjoyed the different tastes really glad we found this little gem in Chelsea market . Big thanks to Vinny he really was superb and looked after us so well he made our trip here special

Great place, great food.

By Lauren |

We visited as a couple on a Friday night and had two of the ā€œone of every oyster we haveā€ platters, so we could each try every oyster available. It’s a small, intimate venue. We booked a week or so ahead after reading that they are Michelin recommended for oysters. The staff were exceptionally attentive and without being intrusive and made the whole experience that bit more enjoyable. No bathroom inside that I could see but as they’re inside Chelsea Market, I imagine one isn’t too far away. Will definitely be returning next time we’re in New York.

a great lobster sandwich . . . . and much more

By ausalerno |

Great place where eat freh seafood specialties raw or cooked, sushi dishes included. I love their special lobster roll definitively but yoy can find all types of crustaceans to eat or to take away, at a good value for money. it is worth trying!

You can’t go wrong with the lobster roll

By Rhawig |

We got two lobster rolls - One traditional, cold with mayo and scallions and One Connecticut style, warm with butter. I’ve always ordered cold ones, but the warm one was full of fresh large pieces drizzled perfectly with warm butter. We also hard the Lobster potstickers and grilled corn, it’d skip both of those sides and try something else on the menu.

impressive!

By David.D |

Discovered a restaurant in Chelsea Market with exceptionally fresh seafood. The oyster selection and lobster roll are standout dishes. Joanne provided excellent service. It's a notable seafood spot in the food hall. They offer special oyster happy hours and have an adjacent seafood takeaway bar with diverse offerings. After visiting the High Line, dined without reservations; enjoyed wine, fresh oysters, and clams with impressive variety. Service and quality were top-notch.

Not good

By chamdexor |

95% of the time, I thoroughly research where we eat on vacation. There’s a reason for that. This time we decided to just go to Chelsea Market and stop when we felt like it. I had heard of Cull and Pistol and a quick review before we went in said good things so in we went. The good: my husband said the oysters were good and the shoestring fries were good. The bad: the fish on the fish and chips platter. Terrible. It’s like a large deep fried egg roll but with what seemed like a wet fish inside. Not flaky at all. Neither my teen son nor I liked it. My husband and our daughter, who are seafood fanatics, said the shrimp and crab weren’t good. And not to just run through complaints, but the lemonade was awful. So the rub is we paid $200 for subpar food and would’ve been better off at a Shake Shack. I won’t be winging it again.

LOUD environment, modest portions of delicious mains.

By markKTM |

Reliably delicious seafood served in modest portions. The Key Lime ā€œPieā€ was a small circular item and not all that tasty, though our mains were great. The $16 glass of wine was less than half full. I generally eat here when alone because it is VERY LOUD and hard to converse with a fellow diner.

Dinner in the Market

By DarioE58 |

Lovely location in the Chelsea Market, a very interesting restructured place. Amazing oysters and a delicious lobster have been served by the nice waiters who are available to fulfil any desire. All was good and the bill as well, in line with the quality of the food. I need to go back again

This is a wonderful full-service restaurant in the middle of Chelsea Market in New York. Freshness is assured and the supply of lobster and oysters is delicious. On top of that walking around the market is fun. You will find spice shops, teas, coffee shops, bakeries and wineries. Make it a plan

Great Food

Went for a quick weekend getaway and was blown away by Cull & Pistol! Amazing food, Vibe and service! Highly recommend

Tasty, friendly and noisy

By Toni13 |

We entered Chelsee market at lunch time tired and hungry without doing any homework or having a reservation. Most eateries were crowded with no vacancies so we entered the first place we found that could offer a table for two which to our good fortune was the Cull&pistol. A small, crowded and noisy place (why are all restaurants in NY so incredibly noisy?) but service was quick, friendly and efficient. We shared a tasty ceviche and than had the two varieties of lobster rolls which were both delicious and accompanied with most wonderful fries. All this with avery nice Chablis made for a delightful lunch.

More than a raw bar

By bethie227 |

The oysters are nice, but don't miss the scallops. The restaurant itself is a bit dark, and you can get oysters next door at the market but the drink selection in the restaurant is good, and the service is excellent.

Amazing

Cull & Pistol is a must for dinner at Chelsea Market. Their quality is unparalleled. The cuisine is great. The squid with squash was outstanding. They have a large menu with tons of options.
