This place is addictive, more is not enough

By Ellen |

Just returned from a trip to Italy, to be honest no place over there had sauce like Da Marino, each time we go to Da Marino we love it more. It's hard to go to another place, the food is fabulous, and then the live music, mostly old Italian songs and some oldies but goodies too, make this an evening out all by itself, forget a Broadway Show, this place is truly wonderful. From the first visit, you are made to feel like family! Definitely try the pasta, the fish is made to perfection, the chicken parm is the best ever. Then the veal is outstanding, I could go on and on, I said this place is addictive in every sense! Also do not leave with out trying the tiramisu, no words can describe how delicious it is,...

Loved it.

By Donna W |

I visited NYC from Boston with two friends. We were there for three days and nights and on all three nights we went to Da Marino. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming. The staff felt like family and the food was delicious. I can't wait to return. We also love the piano bar and song stylings of Marcie Castro. This place is a keeper.

Great food ! Great location! Superior staff! So caring to return a scarf in the freezing cold without a coat!TY Samantha

By Ann L |

The staff— specifically Samantha — went above and beyond with running outside in the freezing cold to try to reunite me with my scarf that I left behind at the table! She ran after my friend and I into Times Square without a coat to be so sweet to get me my scarf that I didn’t realize I left there! She had been so wonderful while we were dining with her professionalism and suggestions and this was over the top special ! The owners Craig and Kay have a fantastic location with delicious food and the restaurant is quite popular and yet all of the staff there make you feel like you are a regular and loved ! Thank you Samantha for all of your effort and being so so wonderful !

Best Italian in NY

By Myriah G |

One of the best Italian spots in NY! Everyone was so friendly, welcoming, and the food was delicious! We tried a variety of pastas and their special Burrata.

Best birthday dinner ever

By Bobby L |

Better than any Italian in the city. Staff and food is 5 star. I’ve dined at don Angie and had a better time here. Can’t recommend enough.

Quite a decent Italian restaurant.

By Boris T |

A very nice relatively cheap Italian restaurant in the Time Square area. The menu isn't rich but it's delicious. The owner is friendly and makes everything eat 🤣🤣🤣

Fun and entertaining

By Megan G |

Great food and the workers were so lovely. Had the penne alla vodka and it was so good. Good prices for food as well. It was such a cute little restaurant in the city and very entertaining.

Best dinner spot in Times Square

10/10 this place was so fun & the food was delicious! All of the staff were very sweet and kind to us, even though we had a big party!!

Tourist trap with average food

By Amanda W |

I should have paid attention to the other reviewers. This place is a true tourist trap from the tacky decor to the average food. They also told OpenTable that I didn't show up. I had the lobster ravioli (which was a special) and it was barely edible. It was fishy and processed. No hints or tastes of lobster. The other diners were mostly older tourists. There is live music (a piano player) if that's something that appeals to you. The only positive is that they were very mindful that we had a show to attend and the service was quick. The server was nice and attentive, but I just couldn't get over the poor quality of the food and the tackiness of the decor. I guess there are limited options when you're going to a show.

Live music was lots of fun, people were very friendly and food was delicious.

By Kim S |

Heard the live entertainment from the street and were invited in by the owner. Everyone was very friendly and the food was delicious.

I cant wait to go back!!

By Dashawn W |

I came here for a late dinner with a few friends and let me just say, this place was amazing. We came in about 10pm and they were able to accommodate us within 5minutes. They had lovely classic music being played by a pianist. The bronzino was the best i have had in the city by far and the expresso martini’s were to die for. I can not wait to come back here!

My NYC theatre & Dinner in April 2024

By Yvette44 |

Came here with a good girlfriend for some old fashioned Italian food, we were not disappointed 😋😋😋 The decor is transfomed to feel like you are in Italy. The ladies room was decorated to make you feel like you are in Italy. They also have nightly Live music, with a pianist who sings. He was also very talented 🥰 If you are in NYC, definitely check it out 👍🏽👍🏽

Loved it!

By S E |

It was everything you could want from a New York Italian restaurant — great food, cozy atmosphere with the perfect amount of hustle and bustle, outstanding and patient service, good wine and cocktails, festive decorations, and even a fabulous maitre d, who really cares and makes sure that everyone has a great experience. Perfect place to celebrate a birthday! We loved it!

Great food, staff and atmosphere.

By ScouseB |

We stumbled upon this gem as it's just next door to our hotel. Friendly staff on arrival and nice piano music to welcome us in. The appetites of sausage and polenta went well with our calimari. We then tucked into one of the best lasagnas we have had, so big it beat my husband and he had to leave some. Brilliant food, great staff and a real NY atmosphere. If you are in the big apple, don't miss this gem!!!

Great intimate Italian restaurant

By parkrfamle |

We were in the city celebrating my granddaughter’s 7th birthday a couple weeks ago. My daughter had done some research and discovered this quaint Italian restaurant and I’m so glad she did. When we arrived we were warmly greeted and seated. Our meals were wonderful and very tasty. I had the lobster ravioli but had it served with vodka sauce -it was delicious! Prices were very reasonable also. We loved listening to the piano player and my granddaughter was serenaded with Happy Birthday even though she turned down the cake! Would definitely recommended this restaurant.

Excellent Italian food in a nice cozy environment.

By Kristin i |

My daughter and I went here for dinner while visiting iNYC. We really enjoyed our meal as well as the warm atmosphere and attentive and very pleasant staff. They also had a vocalist playing the piano, which made the evening even nicer. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Best Italian food in NYC.

By Ben Q |

Awesome food! The rigatoni and meatballs were fantastic. and the chicken parmigian was the best I’ve had anywhere! Great place for authentic Italian food. Tom the manager, is very attentive! Extremely friendly service.

No

By Axel T |

This place is so bad. How tf do I have a reservation for 5:30 and still waited until 6 made reservation a month in advance just for the place to not take a reservation. Reservation was so bad that I downloaded trip advisor just to make sure they got the one star view they deserved.

i cannot think of a more location for a meal, whether it's for a business dinner or a Broadway play.

By Nick C |

my favorite restaurant in all of NYC!!!! the food, the ambiance......THE CARBONARA!!! the manager and owners are top notch; so accommodating. WHEN CAN I GO BACK?!? CHECKING FLIGHT SCHEDULES NOW!!!!

Excellent Italian Food, Unbeatable Atmosphere!

By Nicole S |

What a great little gem in midtown Manhattan! I stopped in for dinner and a glass of wine on a cold snowy winter night on my birthday weekend and was not disappointed. The restaurant and bar are delightfully cozy, festive, and intimate, and the jovial atmosphere makes you feel like family. The live piano music was wonderful and my pappardelle bolognese was the best pasta dish I have had anywhere in a very very long time, maybe ever. Tom, the manager, even personally sang "Happy Birthday" to me and presented me with a complimentary slice of cheesecake (also among the best I have had anywhere)! If you're looking for a cozy little authentic Italian spot in midtown, this is it.

It’s a shame Gordon Ramsey’s kitchen nightmares isn’t still a programme.

By Erika G |

The food is hellishly overpriced. The price you get in the menu is not the one you get on the check. Cramped. Long queue, even though you booked. Staff didn’t even know the prices of the specials, until they ring it up. Miscommunication. Trying to sit 2 tables of 4 into one spare table. Arguing in the middle of the restaurant, leaves for a bad atmosphere. Weird food combinations on the menu. One table ended up leaving completely, not even receiving food. Honestly, the only reason you didn’t get one star is because the food we ate wasn’t bad, just overpriced for its averageness. And the guy who is either the manager and/or owner is lovely.

One of those places you’ve got to try….

By Camille V |

One of those fabled New York places that has charm, ambiance, and incredible service. I went on Valentine’s Day/my birthday and was compelled to write a glowing review. Tom D’Angelo, the manager, was stellar from the moment he sat us down to the moment we closed out for the evening. Personable, charismatic, and professional are all understatements for how he conducts himself; he stopped by a couple of times to check in with us and we highly appreciated it. Like many couples, we chose this restaurant as it was featured in a date night episode of Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City) and Mr.Big, but we will be coming back due to the wonderful people, atmosphere, and the fantastic food. A must go for anyone looking for the New York charm so many films/tv shows have captured and is somewhat difficult to come across nowadays.

Excellent Food and Atmosphere

LOVED this restaurant!

By Jessica S |

We LOVED this restaurant. Service was phenomenal, the food was fantastic, and the manager was the best! He helped to make our friend’s birthday very special and was very friendly to chat with and share celebrity stories from the restaurant. 10/10 would go back!

Loving and caring

By Elijah K |

This restaurant has amazing art work on the walls, all of Italy. The food is superb and authentic Italian food I would recommend for anyone in NYC who likes good food and a good time.

Good atmosphere

By Christopher F |

Food was good, just a little bland for my Italian food preference. Nice atmosphere and good service. Piano player was great.

Fun evening with friends

By J E |

Friends treated me to a special birthday meal. The multiple-course meal was spot on. We started with shrimp cocktail. It was fresh with a unique sauce. We moved to pasta fagioli sour. The main course was a perfectly prepared osso buco. The meal was closed with an espresso martini and cheesecake. The food and service were superior. The casual environment allowed for conversation and laughter.

Authentic hospitality and cuisine

By Leslie W |

Our hotel suggested we try Da Marino for Italian food on our first night here. Small, cozy atmosphere and the hospitality feels as authentic as the cuisine does. We enjoyed wine, fresh bread, delicious pasta and an after-dinner drink for dessert. By the end of dinner we were laughing with the staff and will probably be going back once more before the end of our trip. Thank you Da Marino for a NY welcome :)

Very good Italian

By TAMAN1951 |

In the theater district and open quite late. Very good food and reasonable prices. Reasonably attentive service. Tables are a bit too close together and do not offer enough room. Osso buco is delicious and very tender. Chicken Parmesan is loaded with flavor. Very nice meatballs as well.

My real HAPPY PLACE

By Ellen |

This place is so much more than a restaurant, it becomes "home", Its a journey back to fun times in Italy, the warmth and welcoming is so special. The food is truly devine, my favorite is the chicken parm, and their pasta and sauce is beyond words. The staff is great, and helpful, the Manager Tom, makes it so much fun and understands our needs, Marcie plays the most, fun memorable music. The ambience is so pretty, I really just only want to eat here, I mostly call directly to the restaurant for my reservation, I never wait more than 2 or 3 minutes! Nothing compares to Da Marino!!!!

Amazing late night Italian!

By Patricia V |

We were looking for some late night food after a show in Times Square and happened upon this wonderful spot! The atmosphere was great, the piano player was fabulous, the food was delicious, and the service was wonderful. The host, Tom, was particularly friendly and really took care of us. We felt like friends by the end of the night! We will be back here without a doubt!! I highly recommend!!

Delicious!

By LoriAnn M |

Best chicken parm I have ever eaten. Will definitely go back next time we are in town! Definitely need to make reservations.

A Perfect Pre-Theater Dinner with Live Music

By ZmanKer |

We had a wonderful experience at Da Marino during one evening of our Christmas holiday in New York City. We had made a reservation in advance to ensure a table, and everything, from the moment we arrived, was simply excellent. The service was outstanding, warm, and attentive, and the food was truly delicious, classic Italian at a high level. What made the evening especially memorable was the atmosphere, enhanced beautifully by the pianist Marcie Castro. Her performance added a magical touch to the night: beautiful piano playing with unexpected chords, combined with singing in a truly unique and captivating voice. It created a warm, intimate feeling inside, while snow was falling outside. A brief word of appreciation for the host at the entrance, who has clearly been doing this for many years. With experience, warmth, and a great sense for both seating and conversation, he made the short wait pleasant and effortless. For the full experience, it’s worth asking to be seated near the piano. The only “complaint,” if one can call it that, was that we had to leave too soon in order to get to a musical we had booked later that evening. That said, Da Marino’s location is absolutely perfect for a pre-theater dinner. Despite the freezing cold and snow outside, we arrived at the theater warm and dry, still carrying the warmth of the restaurant with us, and the glow of the pianist’s performance in our hearts. Wonderful food, live music, great service, and an ideal pre-theater location — highly recommended.

Great atmosphere

Went to Da Marino’s for dinner tonight with my son before a show. So happy we went there! Food was great and the staff were great! My son said his Caesar Salad was the best he’s ever had!

A Must for Dinner in NYC

By Paul R |

Da Marino is a favorite. Food is fantastic and the portions are more than generous. We had the calamari, bruschetta al pomodoro and antipasti for starters - all were delicious. Entrees included the lasagna and Pappardelle Bolognese. I can't say enough great things about these two entrees. I fully and enthusiastically recommend Da Marina and will be back the next time I'm in NYC.

Choose a different restaurant

By Mike C |

Terribly disappointing. We had a group of 7 for a pre-show dinner. We were early, so no stress on the kitchen. We split some apps - Brushetta, lobster ravioli and shrimp cocktail. Brushetta & lobster ravioli were bland. Shrimp cocktail was fine. Our main courses - chicken fettuccini Alfredo, veal piccata, filet, angel hair pasta were equally disappointing. The veal piccata was the best of the group. - fettuccini Alfredo was downright awful - Bland & tasteless. Dessert - ricotta cheesecake & tiramisu were just OK. Our server was pleasant and timing was fine, unfortunately the food was very pedestrian. There are so many other options, I’d suggest another choice.

Great experience!

I went with my husband and we loved it. Great service, tasty dishes and very pleasant place. Recognizing!

Great vibe, great food, and great prices

By Anjali S |

This place is so cute and cozy with great live music and ambience. Servers are super friendly and attentive, very accommodating for kids. The food was absolutely delicious and we could really tell everything was super fresh. Tiramisu is extremely tasty because it is handmade by the chef. All the prices were very reasonable and for being in the middle of Times Square it wasn’t too touristy.

Worst experience in my entire life!

By Sherrie D |

Possibly the worst experience I have ever had! It was so loud with drunk and screaming people I could not hear my partner with any conversation. The tables were so close together I got stepped on and bumped by other diners and waiters several times! The salad I had was limp with so much dressing I could not eat it! It created anxiety, and I felt so much better after leaving that horrible restaurant. We were looking for a quiet romantic dining experience, and it was the opposite. It was absolutely terrible! I would not go there if it was the last place on earth! Seriously!

Romantic Atmosphere, Incredible Italian food

By Stefano F |

We had this place recommended to us by a good friend of ours, and decided to check it out while we were on vacation in the area. We had just finished a show off Broadway, and the walk to the restaurant was only a few minutes away, a great location especially in the cold. Immediately after arriving, we were greeted by their manager, Tom, who welcomed us with a warm smile and kind demeanor and allowed us to sit wherever we wanted. Lovely live music was playing on this Friday night, and we were promptly given service once we sat down. We figured we would be more hungry by the time the show ended, which was such a disappointment considering how delicious all the food was! I wish we could have finished it all. I ordered a wonderful, creamy Penne Vodka, which they allowed me to add pancetta to, as well as my fiancé who ordered the Pasta e Fagioli. Service was great and attentive, everything you could ask for. We will be returning to this cute Italian spot the next time we visit. A big thank you to Tom, who clearly puts a great deal of care into making sure his employees are well knowledgeable and his customers are satisfied!!

Worst 2nd visit

By Darren B |

After visiting this restaurant in 2022 with our 2 children we decided to revisit as the first time was incredibly good. When we arrived we were greeted by a lady who was less than interested to the point of being rude, the atmosphere was drab with the exception of the fabulous pianist. The food we ordered calamari which was greasy and had the taste of burnt fat , frozen not fresh. My wife had chicken which had a strange texture one side was tough the other side soft but had a strange texture and taste which after two bites told me she couldn’t eat it, I tried it and was quite surprised they could serve anything thing like this. My spaghetti vongole came in a dark gritty broth which was disappointing it was the strangest sauce I’ve ever tasted, I’ve had vongole dozens if not hundreds of times all over the med and this is an insult.I can’t even mention the clams as these have been nowhere near the sea for a very long time. The waiter was argumentative and rude and was forcing us to have the meal again which there was no chance. The lady who we met when we came in came and tried to make us have another meal, I offered to pay for the calamari and the bottle of very nice wine. Overall the place has lost its authentic Italian feel as there is no evidence of any Italian staff. Avoid

Well Prepared Mesls

By ROBERT I |

Located in the Broadway neighborhood next to top shows. An old style restaurant with well prepared meals. The chicken Marsala and chicken Franchise were very special—-tender, well seasoned and better than many restaurants. The venue is truly old style which may or may not appeal to diners. The piano player/singer has his own style and show tune list. Reasonable value, which is hard to say in Manhattan,

Great restaurant

By Daydream50419844653 |

What an amazing restaurant! My friends and I initially had a reservation somewhere else, but that fell through. We ended up coming here after making last minute reservations. Between the warm greeting, great food, amazing stories and beautiful music, this is a place that I will return to again and again. It was also my birthday, and I got a piece of some great chocolate cake. Thanks again!

Amazing Italian restaurant you can't pass up on!

By Eric D |

This place is wonderful! My wife, two children and I were there a year a half ago, so this review is a long time coming. Everything about this place from the food, fun atmosphere, and very friendly service is excellent. There is even someone who sings and plays the piano. The manager, Tom, was such a friendly and welcoming person as well as the rest of the staff. The location is perfect, especially if you happen to be seeing a Broadway show. It's on the same block as the Book of Mormon. If you are in New York, this place is an absolute must! In fact, my wife and I will be there in two weeks, and this is at the top of our list of the places to go! To the staff and management of Da Marino, thank you so much for such a fantastic dining experience, and we can't wait to see you all in two weeks!

Amazing food, fabulous atmosphere

By Carrie H |

We had a reservation for 7:45, but got there late. It was a bit hard to find. They sat us at a table as quickly as possible. The manager was amazing and so kind! The atmosphere is exactly what you hope an Italian restaurant in NYC looks like. Every single staff member was fantastic. And the food! Wow! I had the homemade porcini stuffed ravioli, and I couldn’t get over how delicious it was! And the fresh steaming bread on the table with a gorgeous lentil dip, delicious ! If I lived near by I’d be a regular!

It's the best, always consistently great

By steven r |

Whether I bring family, friends, or clients here, I know it will be a successful evening, it's always great here, never let's me down, I get seated on time, I have found its much better to call directly to the restaurant for my reservation than using internet sites. The food is delicious, the veal outstanding, no one does it better, portions are large, the fish is perfect each time, pasta and their sauce, no one can compete, hands down DA Marino is the best. Desserts tooo good, the bar and wine list is very impressive, and as always great music, my family considers this an evening out. Couldn't ask for a warmer host than Tom, and Marcy always selects just the right music for the crowd. Clients always leave happy when I bring them here, at first not sure what to expect, they always leave happy, and then return with their family, I leave happiest because the deals I bring them here for always get sealed! So business here can be fun and productive too!

Absolutely the best!

By Karen G |

Beautiful ambiance, great service and the food is absolutely DELICIOUS!!!! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Da Marino is always a wonderful evening location. Food and atmosphere is amazing! Highly recommend.

Food was Excellent -- Be Aware that the Prices are Higher than on the Current Menu

By katietwelve |

This is my second time and the food was fabulous. The only reason I gave 4 stars instead of 5 is because the prices on the check were higher than on the menu. I knew this was going to happen, because I read the reviews before going. The waiter did not inform me and when I brought it up to management, she said that the waiter was supposed to say something. This puts the waiter in an awkward position. I understand they are making a new menu with the current prices, but this is not cool and the owner should step in and resolve this issue before they receive a slew of more negative reviews. I can see why people think they are being scammed. The place was pretty empty between 530 and 630pm, which is not usual I understand. Perhaps tourists are avoiding now. Please update your menu prices ASAP, your business depends on it! I will return and I still highly recommend Da Marino.

Wonderful Experience

By Anthony R |

Da Marino is a hidden gem. The ambiance is quiet, and romantic, with an unobtrusive piano player. The food is delicious, the service is top notch, and Manager, Tom D'Angelo treated us like family. We had such a lovely dining experience, we went back a few days later for our last dinner in NYC.

It was ok - booking confusion and average meal

By Paulbearuk |

Books a table online to ensure we got a table on Sunday after a theatre show. When we got to the restaurant they had no record of the booking, but gave us a table anyway. The next day I got a message from Open Table saying the restaurant reported we’d not honoured our booking - so they did know ! Was looking forward to the meal given the great reviews. My friend had the lasagna which was great. I had the seafood pasta. It was ok but for the price I’ve definitely had better. We had to ask for an ice bucket for the wine. Ambiance is lovely, the pianist was amazing and decor relaxed. Would I go again, well it’s just off Times Square but not too touristy so yes probably because it’s better than any restaurant chain, and I could next time calibrate down my expectations

Disappointing, go elsewhere

By TheHappyDosser |

I really can’t understand why there are so many 5 star reviews for this place, our shared appetisers were so much less than average that we decided not to have anything after those and instead just finished our bottle of wine and left. They brought out a basket of bread that was just like sliced white bread from a supermarket and definitely not the standard of bread I’d expect to be served in a restaurant. The bruschetta was on the same cheap bread and mines seemed a little stale, my wife said hers was ok so I just put mines down to it being the cheap bread. The antipasti plate had too much oil on and only one type of cheese that I couldn’t identify, the meats weren’t anything special and again seemed like pre-packed supermarket bought meat rather than quality cuts you’d expect in a proper Italian restaurant. As they couldn’t get these very basic items right we thought we’d leave it at that and just finish our wine with no other food. We were sat in the rear of the restaurant and thought it strange that we could occasionally smell weed and thought it may be coming in from the street, reading other reviews here though suggests it may actually be from inside the restaurant itself! I did think the check seemed a few dollars more expensive than I had mentally calculated but put it down to me not including the tax and as it wasn’t significantly different to what I had thought I didn’t challenge it. It seems though that over charging is very common here going by previous reviews so maybe we were overcharged too, difficult to be 100% certain though without seeing the menu again. Also, I have never been to an Italian restaurant that had Indian or possibly Pakistani artefacts around the restaurant and there was a strange little corner at the back that looked like some sort of shrine to an elephant. And when considering they couldn’t get some of the very basics right I’d suggest this isn’t actually an authentic Italian at all, instead it seems to just be a restaurant that tries to be Italian. The wine was ok hence the 2 stars.

Not as good as it used to be

By Kelley M |

We had a wonderful meal here back in 2015 and we were excited to return again. Our meal this time was awful! Our waiter the first trip was Italian & had worked there for many years. Our waiter in 2025 was Indian or Philippino as was every waiter in the restaurant. Not one Italian staff member there. The bread was stale, house wine tasted like it was opened 2 weeks ago! We ordered the buffalo mozzarella which was very underwhelming. Not house made like before & something I could buy at the grocery at home myself. The lasagna was just ok & the pasta alla vodka had the weirdest tasting vodka sauce I ever had. It was sweet almost like a tikka masala sauce, definitely not like vodka sauces I’ve had at other Italian restaurants or Italy for that matter. I was so disappointed in my meal that I had no stomach for dessert. Our bill had different prices than the menu - just a few dollars off but still. We will never come back here with so many better choices in the city. I wondered if it changed ownership over the years as it was not authentic Italian.

Incredible Food, Incredible Experience

By Nick C |

“I don’t know if this place is in a class by itself…but whatever class it’s in, it doesn’t take long to call the roll.” That’s Bum Phillips talking about Earl Campbell. It’s also me talking about Da Marino. I don’t even know where to begin…but I’ll try. We came in right after the theater rush, so incredible GM Tom put us at the main table next to the piano. So thoughtful!!!! A perfect glass of a Pinot Noir… The owner, a lovely woman named Kay, suggested the Branzino, a mediterranean sea bass. To…..Die……For! So perfectly cooked, so tasty. My daughter struggled in her choice of the chocolate fettucine or the lobster ravioli…i cannot confirm that i might have nudged her toward the latter…..a butter sage sauce perfectly completely the pasta….some perfectly sized shrimp as well….and the shrimp was shelled, something I don’t normally see. That was a very nice touch! I also asked for a small side of their carbonara, as I’ve tried it before and it’s delicious. The portion size was as big as the flavors! GM Tom suggested the tiramisu as well, and it did not disappoint. Quite the contrary; just an extraordinary finish to an amazing meal. Da Marino should be on everyone’s list when coming thru the Theater District! Fabulous experience! Thank you, Kay and Tom!

Always a great dinner experience

By Ken L |

I have been coming to DaMarino for years, and it never disappoints. The food is top notch but that’s only part of the experience. The atmosphere is old world Italian and the staff makes any visit a memorable experience. The bar and wait staff are attentive and knowledgeable, the piano player Marcy is very talented and is a true crowd pleaser, and Tom the manager is the best. He is welcoming, has some great stories and will sing Happy Birthday as well. DaMarino is a can’t miss restaurant in the Theater District.

A Night to Remember!

By Bri G |

My dear friend and I were recommended this restaurant by a Naval Academy 87' graduate and decided to go! We were warmly greeted by the owner and were immediately seated. We had the honor of being joined for dinner by the owner and another class of 87' Naval Academy graduate. We started with the eggplant rollatini, calamari, and muscles and all of which we to die for. Highly recommend the eggplant rollatini, it was like nothing I have had before. I ordered the lobster ravioli which was very light and left me wanting another serving! We got to sample the chocolate pasta which I was very hesitant at first but next time we eat here, I will be ordering just that. The pink sauce was the best I have ever had and paired perfectly with the chocolate pasta! We ended the night with a slice of cheesecake and tiramisu, which was gone within seconds. The dessert paired well with the Pistachio martini which was perfectly by the amazing bartender, if you are to get any martini there, you must get that one. The whole night the staff was very lively, constantly re-filling our drinks and making jokes with us. The environment was unlike any other I have been in and the live music was the best! Will be telling all of my friends and classmates about this rave of a restaurant!

Italian restaurant charged

By Alexandre H |

The Italian decoration of the place is quite exaggerated. The service was good. There was live music with a singer and pianist and it was nice. The Italian dishes were delicious.

By Enza F |

I am from Italy, and live in Italy , but when I am in New York, DA MARINO, is a definite stop, the food is like home, as mist American Italian Restaurants are so similar to the food in Italy, the ambience is wonderful, I love the live music, and Tom and the gang is always warm and welcoming. It's as authentic as you can get to dine in Da Marino when I am far from home. It's a very special place and definitely a must when in NYC, Ciao my friends Keep up your great work, very special. Ciao Belli be back soon .

Unplanned highlight of a trip to New York

By NorthStar64266290869 |

First time to New York and we were looking for a good Italian restaurant to go to before seeing a play. We found Da Marino NYC and decided to give it a try. It turned out to be a highlight of our trip. The reception we received upon arrival was very welcoming and accommodating. The ambiance was perfect; quaint and had a very authentic vibe. The food was DELICIOUS, it came hot and the pasta's were done to perfection. The service couldn't have been better, they knew our time frame and kept things moving along for us. A BIG thank you to Tom, the manager, for a great experience. Hope to go back one day. We would recommend this highly!

Tourist trap. Rude service and management

By TravelGirlDC7 |

Rude server and bad business practices. Besides the service was slow and he got our order wrong he insulted my 18 yo niece that was visiting and treating me. She paid cash and didn’t realize tip wasn’t included so said yes when he asked for change. He slammed the billfold back on the table and gave her all her money back in small change so I assume he was insinuating she should tip but she got confused and embarrassed when I figured out what happened. This is a tourist trap with bad business practices. It’s not just the server. The management reported me as a no show on Open Table after I had been checked in and they saw my review.

Can’t wait to go back!

Went for dinner before going to a show and afterwards for dessert and a nightcap. The food, service and atmosphere were top notch! The manager Tom was very attentive and engaging. He made the whole experience that much better. Highly recommend this restaurant!!

Worst experience in NY

By RODRIGO Oliveira |

The warm welcome from the manager was the only positive aspect of the night. The rest was a disaster. We ordered four plates; only the lasagna was okay at the restaurant. The ambiance is old, claustrophobic, and hot. The service was not professional at all, and to finish the experience, they charged me prices different from the menu. Although they fixed it, it took me a long time to get it done. Don't waste your night there.

Great impromptu restaurant

Delicious food and lovely little ambience downstairs. The live piano bar was unexpected, but made it a very special night.

New Favorite

I just found my new favorite Italian restaurant in New York City. Da Marino has everything. Atmosphere, intimacy, superb food, attentive and timely service, and an awesome manager, Tommy, who goes above and beyond to ensure a pleasurable and memorable experience.

Exceptional Italian food

By Lindsey P |

The most beautiful experience. The owner was so personable, shared a shot with my partner and I as we told him that we had got engaged the day before. But most of all the food and cocktails were sensational, we would not return to New York without visiting here.

Absolutely phenomenal

By Jim W. |

Had an absolutely incredible experience tonight at Da Marino. There were eight of us and Tom, Joshua, and the kitchen staff did an incredible job. Highly recommend this place, but make sure to make your reservations far in advance as they book up quickly. They rated in the top 100 restaurants in New York City and tonight was no exception.

Highly Recommend!

The food is amazing and the ambiance is great too! There was a singer/piano player and she was so good and it was such a fun experience.

By Andrew Solli |

I guess we missed the great ambiance and food. We expected a great Italian food experience but instead got a cold room, salty food with a waiter that did not understand what we wanted when we asked what was the name of the house wine. We were really disappointed with our experience and cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. So many other real Italian restaurants to eat at in the big apple.

Has nothing but nothing to do with Italy! Don't eat, waitress and staff don't...go eat somewhere else!

By Roving502905 |

Rating of 4.3 not at all - not justified in any category. Reservation online was not available when we arrived. Nothing Italian except the waiters' ties ordered from Temu. Food tasteless, 2 out of 5 plates came cold...probably microwave not set long enough. Handmade ravioli had probably only been removed from the packaging by hand. 3 out of 5 food was returned...we still had to pay the full USD 450!!! Very disappointing

wonderful time at da Marino again!!

By Bergeneddi |

Wife and I had dinner/drinks and it was excellent as usual. All food delicious and plentiful. Wife loved veal piccatta and I had rigatoni and meatballs--best I've yet had!!Staff friendly and efficient. Marcie (beautiful, talented and, did I mention gorgeous) piano player/singer was terrific. Gone to many piano bars/dinner shows in NYC but Marcie is favorite. Took several requests from me and later in eve came arnd w/mic and percussion instruments for some impromptu help from patrons . Highly recommend this restaurant. Great fun!! We will see you there soon!!

Great experience!

By Tyler B |

Dining at Da Marino NYC is more than just a meal—it’s an experience, and one we won’t soon forget. From the moment we walked in, we were welcomed like family. Tom is the best in the game when it comes to customer service. His warmth, attentiveness, and genuine hospitality set the tone for an unforgettable evening. A huge thank you to Craig and Kay for bringing us in and making us feel so at home. Their kindness and generosity truly elevated our experience. And then, of course, there’s the food—absolutely incredible. Every bite was bursting with flavor, made with the kind of care and authenticity that defines great Italian cuisine. But let’s talk about the cheesecake—this isn’t just dessert; it’s a reason to book another trip to New York. Rich, creamy, and downright addictive, it’s a showstopper that will keep me coming back. If you’re looking for a restaurant that combines world-class hospitality with phenomenal food, Da Marino is it. Can’t wait to return!

Very Good Meal!

By jpete |

Da Marino is a busy restaurant in the Theater District and has a small entrance that is down a few steps so you can pass it very easily. I would highly recommend making a reservation as it is definitely a pre theater location. We were greeted by a friendly hostess and seated toward the rear away from the bar area where a piano/ singer was performing. Our very professional waiter came by quickly to discuss the menu and take our drink order, and he had a number of staff to help out. We shared a salad as they are huge, and my wife had the lasagna and I the Branzino with both being very large portions and were excellent. Dinner with two glasses of wine was $128 plus tip which is not bad for central Manhattan. Very enjoyable evening.

Da Marino is top notch in Manhattan

By Brian V |

We have been to Da Marino many times. It is absolutely our go to Italian restaurant in Manhattan. It never disappoints. Great food, great atmosphere and great service. Owner Craig and Manager Tom always friendly and accommodating. Try to go on a night when Marcie Castro is playing the piano. She makes the place magical.

Amazing authentic Italian meal!

This was one of the best birthday celebrations and meals my family has ever experienced! The food was delicious, the staff and our waiter John went over the top to ensure an unforgettable night! Highly recommend for a pre or post show right in the theater district. A hidden gem!!

They keep outdoing themselves, SOOO GREAT

By Ellen |

I keep going back, each time it's a different wonderful experience, I was just there and a table of really fun people were next to us, they sang cabaret, opera, Latin, it was so much fun. There were other women at another table all dressed in red, they had come for dinner after seeing Moulon Rouge, our dinner was outstanding, I had the best bronzino, it was big, and beyond delicious, with a side of pasta and their famous marinara sauce. The wine was flowing, Marcie on the piano made us feel we were in Italy, Tom the host couldn't do enough for us. My friends had never been, now they are addicted to Da Marino, they had the best veal they said ever. Desserts were incredible, best tiramisu, its light, and a bit fluffy and sooo tasteful, I wanted more. No other restaurant in NYC offers this kind of unique experience and top notch food and service. We all plan to go back again VERY soon!

DaMarino is a hit!

By Donna R |

Three of us were in NYC in October and we discovered DaMarino. We had an absolute ball with the very talented Marcie Castro on piano and Hector our great bartender! Both of them are so much fun... as evidenced by us being there for 3 nights in a row! Marcie and our dear friend Donna Byrne even sang several songs together. And a bonus was it was super convenient being right next door to our hotel!

The Kingdom of Kitsch

The New York Italian restaurant as in the movies 😅 hyper kitsch decor, pianist crooner and generous portions. Pretty good.

Awful service and food wasn’t good. Do not recommend I’m not sure how the ratings are higher. Maybe they are paid ratings. The manager was s teaming and wait staff as inattentive. Waste of money and time

Not our cup of tea

By Gillian F |

I booked this place because of good reviews, it didn't impress us and it turned out to be a waste of money. It's a bit bizarre when you walk in and has the look of an intimate Italian restaurant but quite noisy and frantic. The singer/pianist was ok until she started playing the piano over a Whitney Houston song, it didn't really work. The starters were OK but unpriced on the menu and we could cook better at home. My husband had barely finished his starter when a waiter dressed in black took his plate - I was still eating mine. The same waiter brought my main out before I finished my starter and took it away again - now I'm not a slow eater but felt really rushed. Our mains were pasta with a decent enough flavour but very oily which became off putting by halfway through eating it. We decided against desert on the basis of the first 2 courses. However, I must give a shout out for the waiter in the white shirt and black waistcoat, he was very professional. The guy all in black could learn from him. The same guy in black wanted to take my credit card away and I asked for the payment tablet to be brought to me. I work in fraud prevention so I'm not comfortable with letting my credit card out of my sight. He brought it over but wasn't happy and selected my 20% tip rather than allowing me to choose. I would have given about 5-10% on the basis of the whole experience. The restaurant was not busy so I don't understand why we were so rushed by the over zealous waiter. So well over $200 for a mediocre meal although the wine was good. We won't be back.

Broadway’s best Italian!

Such a fun and festive environment to enjoy with friends and family! The perfect pairing with your trip to NYC and a Broadway show. The food is exceptional and the service top notch.

Best Italian Restaurant in NYC

By Kate B |

My favorite Italian restaurant. As soon as you walk in the door, you are family. A lively Italian family. The food is fabulous. The Chicken Francese is the best....and large portions. So many fresh pastas to choose from. Staff is friendly and attentive. We have been going here for years.

Perfectly Italian and Perfectly NYC

By Kathy K |

The food and atmosphere, spoke NYC. I was disappointed that they don't offer a lunch menu, but not a complaint to be found on the food. My daughter and I got the Penne in a Vodka cream sauce and the Chicken Parmesan based on the reviews. The Penne Pasta was perfectly al dente and the Chicken was juicy and cooked to perfection. I'd love to go in the evening for dinner and sit at table 22 to get my Sex and the City fix like Mr. Big and Carrie, but for now lunch it was and what a wonderful lunch it was.

Good food but kind of loud

By John B |

Great food and priced reasonably. Hard time understanding our waiter who was from India. Kind of loud and pretty tight.

NYC Italian food

By vtneen |

Had a great time at this restaurant. "Uncle Tom" was a hoot and made for an enjoyable night. Loved the bruschetta. Large portions - you won't leave hungry! My daughter loves cheesecake and she said it was the best she has ever had! Very nice entertainment with a live singer and pianist.

Stay away rude staff and owner doesn’t care!

By Jason R |

Stay away the manager on Christmas Eve was so rude. It was unbelievable. We’re locals and even live in the same building as the owner and he was the rudest person I’ve ever met in my life we left without even keeping our reservation. Stay away go for better Italian food down the street on restaurant row plus they treat you amazingly.

Look no further! You won’t regret it!!

Da Marino’s in NYC blew me away! Hands down the best Italian food I’ve ever tasted. The ambiance screams authenticity, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Would totally recommend it to anyone craving amazing Italian cuisine. Solid 5/5 stars!

A fun place to visit and enjoy delicious Italian food

By Gayle L |

I only have praise for DaMarino, in N.Y.C. The Italian food was delicious and, entertainment was by the very talented Marcie. The bartenders and everyone else were wonderful and added to our enjoyment with our first time visit from Boston ! I highly recommend a stop at DaMarino’s to others and definitely will plan on stopping at DaMarino’s on my next visit to NYC. 👍👍

Great for family, kids, groups.

Great casual spot, just off Times Square in the Theater District. We were able to get a large group reservation. Service was fantastic. Great for kids, we had a few. The dishes were plentiful. I really enjoyed the lasagna. I'll be back.

Quintessential Italian restaurant with host Don who made our night! Bolognese was great despite not w/papparadelle! Celebrating big bdays there was special…made more so with huge slice of Tiramisu cake w/candle in throne chairs… loved it🥰

A disaster

By Martapueyo |

With reservation and we have not been attended. We waited 45 minutes and we weren't given the table. A mess and the service worse. It's no use making a reservation, because they don't control the capacity and it seems to be our fault.

Love this place

By Bob Fouts |

Love this place! It's right in the middle of everything, great for dinner before a show, and as close as it is to everything, it feels like a very authentic NY Italian restaurant. The staff here is out of this world, the hostess was very nice, Tom the manager recognized us from 2 years ago, the wait staff was outstanding. This is 2 of 2 for great experiences here for us. Tom the manager told us we were in the wrong seats at our table, apparently, in Season 2 Episode 8 of Sex and the City, was filmed at the table were sitting at, and he said that my lady should sit where Carrie did and I should sit where Big sat, just one more little "lagniappe" we didn't expect. Not inexpensive, but in Manhattan what is? Worth it in my opinion, well worth it.

Best Lasagna in the world

By Jennifer S |

While it is on the expensive side, it’s very worth it. It’s a typical beautiful Italian restaurant with the best Lasagna I’ve ever had. Perfect atmosphere.

Wish had another night to go back

By kimwaves |

Very happy from moment stepped in until we left. Greeted by Tom who set the tone for a great evening. Service was outstanding… I should have listened to waiters suggestion to get the “chocolate fettuccine ”. It’s actually my 2 favorite foods but couldn’t imagine them together. But I tasted someone else’s and he was 100% correct. I had lobster ravioli which was very good but the fettuccine as well as my husbands chicken parm with side pasta and pomodoro sauce were excellent! Pasta cooked el dente and chicken was so tender. Drinks were also outstanding. Can’t wait to go back!

Always great

By steven r |

Each time we go, it's even better if that's possible, the chicken parm is the best, anywhere, anyplace, the staff is so friendly, Yom is a great host and fun, sings a great MAC THE KNIFE, Marcie is the best e tertainer, she gets a feel of the crowd, desserts outstanding, drinks fantastic, I cannot say enough great things about this place. I can always count on a great time being there!

Culinary perfection with an atmosphere of Italian old world charm.

By Brian F |

I used to like “Italian” food. At least I thought I did. Big family night? Go to the Olive Garden. Sigh. (Living in Southern California will do that). Then I spent two years of my Navy career working in Naples, Italy. Now when my family says they wants Italian food, and my Daughter says “let’s go to Olive Garden,” I just shake my head. We have actually found a few very good Italian restaurants in the Southern California area, but none are as good as Rome or Florence, or Da Marino. We recently helped our son move to NYC, and while there, was referred to Da Marino by a friend who had been there several times. Now, when my wife says she wants Italian food, I almost start looking at tickets to JFK. It’s THAT good. I have had the best food Italy has to offer, from Florence to Rome to Naples to the Amalfi Coast. Our visit to Da Marino put us in the heart of Italy (the country with the best food on the planet), and they met the standard. Conveniently located a block from Times Square and in the heart of the Theatre District, perfect for a pre-Broadway meal. The owner Craig is also a retired Navy veteran, so we had some commonality there. Frequent guests to the restaurant are a veritable who’s who of NYC and Hollywood, with Martin Scorcese and Robert De Niro (among others) known to dine there, and countless other signed photographs from notable patrons adorn in the walls. If Scorcese and De Niro find Da Marino to be up to the standard for Italian food, I’d say that’s a ringing endorsement. Upon entering, we were taken with the old-world look and feel of the decor, and greeted by Tom, the most gregarious and likable Maitre D’ in the Big Apple. The hospitality of the entire staff is exceptional. There is a full cocktail bar (at which was produced an impeccable martini), there’s a robust wine list (house Chianti was exceptional) and the appetizers were magnificent (Caprese and Calamari). Dinner was beyond compare, we ordered Pappardele Bolognese, Linguini with Clams and Linguini di Mare, which were all amazing. Linguini with clams was the best I have ever had, and I am very particular about that dish. Live piano music made for a perfect ambiance, and our sever Josh was wonderful. Dessert was cannoli and tiramisu; I had basically given up on tiramisu outside of Italy, but have now found the one place in the US I can really enjoy it. Light, delicious, …perfect. Tom said the cheesecake is always extremely popular, but we had no room … so we will be back for that. I rarely if ever write restaurant reviews of this length and detail, but Da Marino was well worth the effort. It was the finest Italian restaurant experience I have enjoyed outside of Italy. Can’t recommend this wonderful restaurant strongly enough.

Love Da Marino!

By Tom T |

The folks at Da Marino always make us feel like family every time we come. Tom is an awesome host. Thanks again for the welcoming atmosphere and camaraderie! Great place!

A precious hiding place

By IvyCassa |

I didn't count the best guides, I don't think the maps. But it was in a second of turning my neck that I looked into the underground and stumbled upon the Da Marino plate. As I went down the stairs, I confirmed that fate had set a meeting between us. With the taste of cessar salad and the taste of pistachio Martini, the intimate atmosphere to the sound of the magnificent voice and piano of Márcia made New York get on its knees!

Fantastic Italian food and warm vibes

By FoodGreenville |

I heard another diner mention “it was worth the wait” which means more than these two things: it’s really good, authentic, unique Italian food; and it’s always best to make a reservation. The chicken Parmesan and chicken Franchesca were amazing, but you should heed your own curiousity and get the Chocolate fettuccini - not sweet, of course, just the perfect balance of savory. Tom D’Angelo and his attentive, professional team will make you feel pampered from the start in this cozy and festive spot, replete with show tunes played on the baby grand piano. The music can be heard in all corners and is also piped up the stairs with Da Marino warm vibes to street level.

Absolutely amazing!

By caitlin m |

This place is hands down the best spot to go for great food, service, and overall experience. Highly recommend!

Tight spaces

By Ted P |

We had reservations for family of five for six o clock but were seated at 6:35. There is no room to really wait inside unless you sit at the bar. We had to rush our dinner to make a show on time; the waitress did accommodate. Food was average. Lobster ravioli was subpar, but lasagna and spaghetti were phenomenal.

best italian

By quin l |

This Italian spot nails it with cozy vibes and amazing flavors. Their homemade pasta and tiramisu are to die for. If you love Italian food, this place is a must!

DO NOT PASS BY THIS PLACE WITHOUT STOPPING!!!

By Nick C |

Unbelievable Experience!!! Tremendous food and drinks. Spectacular entrees. Tiramisu and Cheesecake to die for. The Lentil Spread? Made me pull my hair out, it was so good. The owner is an amazing guy…you walk in off the street, and he’s your friend. Fabulous time. Well worth it….Come for dinner, see a show, come back for dessert. Oh, and sing along at the piano. New York State of Mind, indeed.

5 Star Dinner

Hidden gem Italian Restaurant!

By justin j |

A beautiful, cozy restaurant located on 49th street in the heart of Manhattan. The ambience of the space is great, service is wonderful, and the food is amazing. We are always welcomed with a warm greeting by the hosts and really enjoy the live music performed by artists. The menu is abounding with lots of traditional Italian cuisine. Definitely recommended!

Overbooking and not respecting reservations by a wide margin while advertising pre show dinner

By Christian A |

Nice looking place and well located close to theaters. AVOID if time sensitive as they overbook and do not respect reservation time. Getting a table is a chaotic process at pre show time We gave up after 20 minutes waiting in a cramped waiting line next to the bar as clearly we would have missed our show. Looking for another restaurant on Opentable we saw that the restaurant was still accepting reservations when clearly they were overbooked.

Amazing Italian dinner experience!

The food was absolutely delicious. The service was excellent. The ambiance was phenomenal. We had a great time with zero complaints whatsoever.

By Cynthia G |

This restaurant was recomended by a staff member at the Kimpton Theta and he even called and made a reservation for us. The manager, Tom, was amazing. The food was delicious and I only wish I had gotten a video of them singing happy birthday to me. It was a great experience and very cute.

Do better

By glorybkrjgm |

Ok I rarely write a bad review but was so disappointed… I booked this restaurant based on trip advisor reviews. We had a special celebration for my sisters birthday and a trip to the theater. We were 10 minutes early for our reservation. We arrived and told it would just be a couple of minutes and to relax and grab a seat at the bar. We were NEVER even acknowledged at the bar… bartender was extremely in the weeds but also extremely rude NEVER even looked at us.. we sat there for 30+ minutes without even eye contact from her or being offered service or a simple hello. Multiple times the hostess was asked when we will be seated. Hostess acknowledged us and said she was doing her best as there were not many tables for three. We had reservations through open table for weeks. The owner popped over once or twice, but was extremely arrogant and did not , try to help us find a table or even attempt to try to seat us. I told the hostess we had theater tickets and needed to be out no later than 7:05 As our show started at 7:30 and we had a walk about six blocks to get there. A couple of minutes after six a party of five came in and was immediately seated. At that time, I knew it was time to leave. I told the hostess she could give up our reservation and next time it would be polite to let us know they would not have room for us. I will never recommend this restaurant to anybody especially with so many options in the city. Everyone has an off night, but this was so much more than that. The arrogance of the owner, extreme rudeness of the bartender, and the hostess who was trying her best with little support. I completely understand how busy the city can be. As a native New Yorker I have been traveling in and out of the city for the last 45 years. Do better. If nothing else be honest with the patrons and let them know we can’t accommodate you tonight. Before the theater experience, we ended up having a slice of pizza because there was no where else to get food. Because I was so excited to be with family would not let it ruin the evening…again do better - was really hoping for a better outcome.

A do not miss spot

Always fabulous, fun night, great food, try the chicken parm, the best ever, the staff is so friendly, the get to know you, you become family! Wine list is excellent! The fun Italian and show tunes music makes this who night soooo much fun! I can't get enough of being here

Excellent food, service and ambiance

By Stay766380 |

This unique Italian restaurant is located in the heart of the Theater District just off of Broadway. We have not visited NY for several years and my cousin, who frequently travels to NY on business, recommended Da Marino and we are really glad we made a reservation. The food was excellent--i've never had a better veal piccata-which is my favorite Italian dish. My wife loved her Spaghetti all Vongole. Tom, the manager, brought us a sample of their chocolate pasta and it was delicious. One nice feature of the restaurant is the pianist, Marcy, who played many show tunes but also played numerous songs we had requested during dinner. Next time we visit NYC, we will definitely go to this restaurant again. Excellent food, excellent staff and ambiance.

Cozy restaurant with great food and very friendly service!

By Will L |

My Wife and I ate here about 2 hours after our Broadway show on a Saturday. The food was excellent, we had the specials, lamb chops and my wife had a cocoa infused pasta dish. The owner/manager was really nice, friendly, and funny. Highly recommend this restaurant. The atmosphere inside is a little tight but I thought it was cozy.

Excellent Italian Place!

By Stacy P |

Da Marino was the best! I made a reservation and let them know we were celebrating my daughter’s college graduation. Tom met us and gave us a perfect table and made sure the visit was extra special. We all had different items from the menu and everything was delicious. Loved the atmosphere and the piano was an added bonus!

Just OK, Much Better Italian Options in the Area

By PAJAY |

The restaurant is located in the basement of a building, which is common for many restaurants in NYC. We arrived early for our reservation, and were seated immediately. I had ordered the house red wine, a caesar salad, and we had rigatoni with meatballs as well as penne and vodka sauce. The wine was pretty warm, warmer than room temperature which was a little surprising. The salad was very good. However, our main entrees were a little less than expected. We did have to wait a while for the waiter to return to check on our meals, and again I had to flag him down to get us refills on the wine. We go to NYC a couple times each year and always choose different restaurants each time as there are a lot to choose from. I will say that this was the worst out of the restaurants we have eaten. The food was edible, but not the Italian food we have come accustomed to in NYC. The entrees we had there were better tasting in the rural area of Pennsylvania which we live. Sorry, but disappointed with our restaurant choice this time.

Wonderful Restaurant and Meal

By Sonja C |

Great dinner at Da Marino. From the minute we walked in and Tom the manager greeted us , to the wait staff, the piano player and the food everything was amazing. The ambiance is beautiful! Would definitely go back.

Good food, but shocking service

By LisaS_Nov11 |

Food was good, and the restaurant looked lovely on arrival - painted murals on the walls, live pianist etc., but I've rarely experienced such poor service. There was no engagement from the waiters, and they were positively unfriendly. No asking how we were, no chitchat, just asked us what we wanted then dumped the food down in front of us when it arrived. We were in and out in 35 mins! At no point did they ask how our meal was - there was the bare minimum of communication. Such a shame as the place has great potential to be lovely.

The Branzino fish with spinach was one of best meals I've ever had, coupled with a nice pinot grigio and you're in heaven. Savory and tasty. Great ambience, right in the middle of the upper theater district.

I celebrated my birthday there and it was a wonderful experience. The food was delicious, the staff were incredibly kind, and they made my night so much fun and truly special. I can’t wait to come back! Thank you so much for such a special evening.

The Ratings do not Accurately Reflect The Standard

By Susan A |

The main meal was seafood pasta. The pasta, sauce was mediocre at best. The mussels in the dish were stone cold, with the outer shell even more so. The food was obviously reheated, and not very well at that. We were offered one dessert free, which we did have, but that wasn’t anything memorable either. How this restaurant has so many high ratings, is a mystery to my partner and I.

Excellent Pre-show dinner

By Michael F |

We had a great dinner before a show. This place is made for that. 5:15p reservation allowed for enjoyable experience without being rushed. It got busy quickly. The food was excellent. My family of 5 all got pasta and everyone was impressed. Burrata to start was a crowd pleaser. Waiter was John; Excellent. Table service is a team effort and they all work the room well. Piano player was added bonus for ambience. We will be back.

Fantastic

Uncomfortably good food and atmosphere. Highly recommended👍 we celebrated an occasion and they followed it up in an excellent way. Charming atmosphere with live music😊

A quaint hidden gem

From the moment you walk in you feel this please is pretty special. It’s welcoming decor and comfortable ambiance adds life to the experience of it all. Tom greeted us with a smile and excellent attitude and Chris was out server and was attentive and super friendly. The food was superb! Top notch. We are from each other plates to enjoy the perfection that they were. A Must For any fan of authentic Italian.

Great place!

Very fun aesthetic, while tight quarters, the wait staff was very professional and nice, the food was great! We loved Marcie on the piano, so entertaining and kind!! Would recommend

Good food, a bit overpriced but tasty.

By Annette G |

Da Marino looks inviting from its step down into its underground entrance and the interior made me feel like I was in a Roman restaurant we’d enjoyed a year earlier. Good start. The wait staff is friendly although one man, after we’d asked if it was possible to move the fan blowing right on us, demeaningky said, “Relax! Relax, I’m on it,” when we said, “Oh, you’re turning it off,” as he was fiddling with it. I told him that I was perfectly relaxed and hoped that he was, too. My son looked at me wide-eyed after the odd exchange, wondering what “THAT” was about. Our meals were delicious. Son got the lamb chops special and I a pear salad since it was scorching outside and wasn’t too hungry. I told my son that I wondered what the special meal was going to cost, thinking that if a pasta meal was $26-$32, it may be , gulp, $50! The check came…$65 for these lamb chops. I’m a New Yorker and this shocked me. We remained in gratitude that it was a tasty and fulfilling meal but, if you’re on a budget, I wouldn’t advise the sticker shock from the lamb chops. Definitely worth a try.

Superb place for a casual date night and especially superb for theatre-goers!

By Andy M |

This country boy loved the NYC experience of fine casual dining on a Friday evening at Italian restaurant “Da Marino” on West 49th Street! I was greeted with a warm smile and handshake by manager/maître d’ Tom, whom I now consider a friend. Ana is a superb bartendress; now she’s a friend. My Friday-night dinner was a wonderfully rich and flavorful pasta dish described as “Homemade ravioli with porcine and wild mushrooms sautéed in extra Virgin olive oil, garlic, and spinach” by a young attentive waiter named John, whom (you guessed it) I now consider a friend! Loved the dim, decorative lighting and the nicely-spaced tables. The wall decor includes nostalgic artwork as well as photographs of notable celebrities who have enjoyed their visits here. And I cannot say enough about the live music provided by pretty Marcie handling piano and vocals. And she too is now a friend! So the country boy arrived an outsider, but left as someone who belonged. In sum, a superb place for a casual date night and especially superb for theatre-goers: Times Square is just a block away. I shall return!

Great food and atmosphere!

The service was beyond amazing. So interactive in all the best ways. The food was delicious and authentic. We had salads with a house dressing that's to die for, chicken marsala with pasta, gnocchi, and tirumisu. The entertainment was so much fun. It was a memorable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Does a reservation mean anything?

By Kenneth C |

This restaurant overbooks. They have pages and pages of reservations for the same time just in case someone doesn’t show up and I, regrettably, missed the act of my nearby show even though my reservation was two hours before the theatre around the corner. I was acknowledged at 6 pm and at 630 pm I had three people ahead of me. I read this repeatedly but stayed anyhow. It is also very very crowded and stuffy and crammed.

Quirky and Central

By Donna B |

You would walk past this restaurant as it is located on a busy street down a few steps so is kind of tucked away. I read the reviews about this restaurant and so decided to book it for my partners birthday. It is located next to some of the big Broadway theatres so is super handy for a pre or post theatre dinner. There is a good selection of food on the menu at reasonable prices considering how central it is. Service was friendly and quick. The ambience was fun as their was a lady on a piano singing some classic New York and Italian songs and she even went outside and was singing with people passing by. At one point she handed out some hand rattles to a family sitting close by which was fun for the kids. We got a bruschetta to share to start which was a great size for 2 people and very tasty. My partner got the lasagna which was a great portion and he absolutely loved it and I got the spicy rigatoni which I couldnt finish but it was delicious ! Would recommend this restaurant if your looking for something quirky, and centrally located

Fun Spot and great good after show

By msmen92 |

Went here after our broadway show and were able to get us seated even though we were early for our reservation. Service all around was great and had great atmosphere all around. Pasta and wine were also excellent and would recommend trying out especially if looking for a place after a show. Looking forward to coming back next time in NYC!

True New York experience

By mitchell s |

Tom and the entire staff were beyond excellent! They made us feel right at home. The food was incredible and extremely authentic and the whole staff was a true Italian New York experience. If it’s your first time visiting this place is a no brainer must visit for dinner.

Unforgettable because it’s personal!

By IsabellaSw |

An unforgettable evening! We had time and chose the restaurant deliberately. In addition to an excellent Cosmopolitan from Donna at the bar, we were able to listen to piano music. Afterwards there were two delicious dishes - seafood spaghetti and ravioli a la casa. The best compliment was a serenade from Tom D'Angelo, the restaurant manager

menu prices are incorrect, you are going to get ripped off!

By Patti G |

Every price on the menu was different then our bill. $52 for a carafe of house wine ( that is not that good) is high already, but then get the bill and it is actually $58. Food is mediocre but the scam is totally illegal. A call to BBB

Very sketchy behavior going on here.

By Dreamer738991 |

As soon as the waiter brought the menus he began telling us that this was a pre pandemic menu and all their prices were now higher than listed. He kept stopping by the table to tell us it wasn’t his fault. When he brought the check, all the prices were elevated from the menu. When we called the maitre d’ over, he waved us off and said he fixed it before we even expressed our concerns. Another bill was brought out with discounts taken to adjust prices. What kind of scam are they running here? Does the owner know this is happening? We have enjoyed this place on four prior visits, but will never be back.

An unforgettable dinner

By Danipersempre |

We had dinner at Da Marino 2 days ago and it was a fantastic experience from all points of view: a very characteristic and well-attended place, really friendly and helpful staff, excellent food, a very good filet mignon and a delicious cheesecake , but the best surprise was Marcie, an excellent singer and pianist who enlivened our evening with the best American and Brazilian songs. Da Marino will become our favorite restaurant! For Sex & The City lovers, if you're lucky there's also the chance to meet Big and I've said it all 😉

Terrific entertainment while dining in the theater district

By marcy f |

We enjoyed a flavorful dinner with the bonus of the charismatic talent and personality of their pianist, Marcy. She sang a wide range of songs from La Vie en Rose to Lullaby of Broadway, Disney tunes, pop hits and favorites from the Great American Song Book. She interacted with diners and gave everyone a memorable night.

Great Italian food and service

Great spot for dinner and drinks! Tom is lovely and made great accommodations for us. We were sat and served quickly with great food. Love this place and will definitely be back!

Great atmosphere but little chaotic

By Barbara1206 |

Only just reminded ourselves we are in America so don’t order starter and main … but we did. So we ordered the calamari starter, luckily we shared as I wouldnt have eaten anything else and some was rubbery. For main my husband ordered the chicken Francesse and I had the sea trout. Sides - you just get pasta or potato. Potato tasted using ready bake sauce. Overall it is a great experience but food wise not for me, trout - tarragon not in sight and just butter. I am rating the experience 3, food for me a 2. In other words I am going to try and find somewhere of the beaten track. Enjoy if you want to experience the chaotic Italian way though..!

Simply one of my favourite restaurants anywhere in the world!

I had the pleasure of dining in Da Marino for the first time 14 years ago, when in NY for business. I vowed then that someday, I would bring my wife & children to experience this wonderful place. I finally was able to do so just over a week ago, & it was a wonderful, unforgettable experience for us all! It all starts with the exciting Manhattan vibe of turning the corner from Times Square & walking down the basement steps past the lights & flowers into an extraordinary world of ornate furniture, frescos on the walls & the sound of the piano player (on our visit it was the brilliant Sheree Sano. Thank you Sheree for creating such a beautiful ambiance & for playing Cole Porter, Billy Joel & Sinatra. We so much enjoyed listening to your playing & chatting with you!). Our waitress & waiters were all friendly & attentive. The food was TO DIE FOR!!! We all had pasta mains & we all agreed that this was no doubt the best Italian food we’ve ever eaten. All of us were blown away by the quality & the portion sizes were super nice & generous in our opinion. Tiramisu & cheesecake for desert were also out of this world. Sadly, our evening in Da Marino had to come to an end, but we climbed the steps & back out into the bright lights, feeling excited & in that “New York state of mind”, fully satisfied & with beautiful memories of a beautiful evening in the Big Apple, hoping to return again one day. Grazie, Da Marino!

The best Italian in the NY

By Sussie D |

We celebrate our anniversary day at the restaurant! It was fantastic food. We got flowers and the owner sang for us. They made the evening perfect. The best Italian in the area!!

A RIP OFF

By margaret |

An absolute rip off restaurant, we got our check and All the prices were more expensive than what the menu stated. Spoke with the manager who came up with various ridiculous reasons for the discrepancies, the menu prices were pre covid prices, he then blamed the waiter and finally blamed the IT guy. It is definitely a very deliberate plan to rip customers off. Stay well clear of this place

Best Italian in New York

By Angelina S |

what a GREAT night! Staff was so attentive to our huge party. Food was amazing and came out fast considering our 32 person party. If you’re in the city looking for a very nice Italian restaurant with amazing food then this is the place for you. Will definitely be coming back

Not what we were expecting.

By Susan C |

The whole experience was disappointing. The restaurant came highly recommended so we were excited and love Italian. Things that went wrong: 1. 3 out of the 4 orders came out. After several minutes we asked about the 4th order. The waiter came back and said he forgot to put it in. He did apologize and I told him I would just share my sister’s order. 2. Our waiter was nice enough but didn’t come back and check on us during the meal. We had to flag him down to get additional drinks. Seemed disinterested in us. My husband’s bourbon was very watered down. 3. The manager? shouted into the kitchen for someone to stop yelling at him, he was doing the best he could. Very unprofessional. 4. The bill- we had asked for it to be split. He came back with one check. Once reminded he split it. He asked us to use a QR code to pay which was fine but there was no internet service in the area of the restaurant. My husband told him and he said to step into another area of restaurant and try. Normally that would have been fine but the tables were so packed together it wasn’t exactly convenient. My husband had to press the waiter to take his card and run it. Not sure if it was an off night but for the amount of money spent it was disappointing. The food was ok- bread was amazing. We will not return and normally I would try a place at least 2 times but too many things went wrong.

This FIVE Star review walks on the heads of other Five Star reviews!

By David Q |

We had high expectations going to the famed Da Marino and WOW were we blown away!!! Every expectation was exceeded in every category, and not "just barely"! These days, you can get "service" from an ATM, but genuine hospitality is another thing all together. Da Marino is the epitome of hospitality! They knew what I needed to order, besides what I ordered, and I was enamored with every bite of everything! Seriously, the first ingredient in every dish is LOVE - you can taste the care and attention given to every item! Live music - WOW again! Let me tell you, I'm from Nashville - you know, "Music City". Their pianist could sing and play in the finest venues in our "Music City" - no wonder she chooses to serenade at Da Marino in NYC! She can play it all - from A to Z - with heartfelt expression and technical precision, a rare combination! This was the icing on the cake of our experience. Speaking of desserts... I was so full, I was going to pass on dessert - what a mistake THAT would have been. Tiramisu! Again, their recommendation - and my enjoyment. The texture, the taste, the care of preparation - WOW! I need to find a way to put exponents on my WOW's in this review! The atmosphere - again - WOW! So much history, so much ambiance, so much enjoyment in just one evening! I was blown away - you can be too. DON'T miss it!

Don't miss this Italian Restuarant!

As a former Long Islander, I visit DaMarino every trip to New York City. The ambience is great, the food is delicious. The piano player/singer makes it a beautiful experience. The servers, serve with enthusiasm. I send people there when I know they are headed to NY. I will be back the June and can't wait.

Quick Italian meal. Lively place

By Edwin B |

Atmosphere very good. Food is average. Restaurant manager in a constant state of melt-down. Live piano player adds to the fun and bar guests were joining in
