This place promised so much based on the previously posted reviews, location and published photos. The experience was poor based on the staffs desire to exploit the tourist beyond what’s normal for Times Square. It’s been a long time since I’ve been rushed through a meal to the extent that this place did on this occasion. The food was average, tasted okay, however the serving sizes were small. The plates were not even finished and the waiters were trying to clear the table. We didn’t even ask for the bill and it appeared before we’d even finished taken the last bite. In a city where customer service is so great, this place was a shocker - give it a miss people, there’s heaps of better places.

I came here before a show feeling like Italian food. These waiters are working hard and fast and still keep a very professional aura. The risotto was quite a pleasant surprise.

We went post theater on a Sunday. We order a bottle of wine which was fine. Had a reservation and was shown to upstairs, where no one sat. First floor was decent. Servers we're attentive. We order a $30 entree and could barely eat it. Was a house favorite. Chicken strips with mozzarella and penne with some type of orange sauce they called bolognese sauce. Would not recommend as there are so many better restaurants within walking distance.

It was my granddaughter's first trip to NYC and a gradution gift. Having read some nice reviews of this place I booked a reservation prior to our matinee of "Chicago". We were seated at a banquette with a view of the sidewalk with the restaurant doors open. Very nice since we live in rural north Georgia where sidewalk cafes are pretty nonexistent. All of the service was prompt and friendly. We immediately ordered the cheese bread which was delicious with our drinks. I ordered chicken picatta and she ordred linguine with pesto. All very good and large portions. Actually much more than I could eat! The New York cheesecake was good but I was so full I could hardly savor it as I should have. Service was the absolute best we had of all the places we tried. And we were just 3 blocks from the Ambassador theater. Highly recommend this Trattoria!

We found this restaurant on our 1st visit to New York last year, and returned back this year. The food does not disappoint love their Rigatoni Bolognese. We usually go for lunch as the prices are slightly lower but dinner portions are larger. Great service. A+

We ate here prior to a Broadway show, but we reserved early so we could have a leisurely dinner. The menu is outstanding, with something for everyone. The portions are large and the prices are very fair. We had drinks, main courses, and desserts and everything was excellent. Service was attentive but not overpowering and we never felt rushed. We ate upstairs which was very very nice. Don't miss this gem.

Stayed close to this great little spot and other than chain restaurants it was hard to find a good place for breakfast. This little Italian was great. Friendly staff catered for our small child too and couldn’t be friendlier. On our second visit we were a larger group of extended family and again it was no issue to staff to cater for the bigger group. We had pancakes, toast, mix of eggs and bacon all served with as much tea or coffee we wanted. Also had oatmeal on offer for our 1 year old. All in all a very good value spot for breakfast in that area.

Although we found the Service excellent, we were somewhat disappointed in the our choice of dinner. 2 of us had Chicken Francaise which was bland with no lemon flavor at all. Chicken parm and Penne Ala vodka was good. At $30 per entree, could have been much better / $4.50 per soda for a flat coke and sprite was a little much as well.

By chance we found the lovely Daniela Trattoria after checking into our hotel and exploring down the street. The enchanting Italian ambiance is what drew us in! Being close to many Broadway theaters kept it constantly busy and waiters were rushing to keep up. It looks smaller than it is, as we later witnessed many patrons leaving from the upstairs area. We enjoyed our food, the ambience, and the kindly waiter. Still thinking about it months later. Nice job Daniela Trattoria!

We went to a broadway show, we had a 745pm reservation (the restaurant closes at 8) and when we got there they wouldnt seat us and told us the kitchen staff had left, when I saw people just getting their food when we walked in. I wont eat there. Thankfully the restaurant we ended up at was much better than this place. The manager didnt care that we had a reservation he told us they wouldnt seat us.

While the staff was very charming and attentive - the food was very sub par for the price. We have been to NY numerous times and we know the drill - restaurants near Time Square are usually not great, but based on reviews we were hopeful this one would deliver so we could dine before seeing a show that was nearby. The ambience is great, but the food was not. The Alfredo was just sweet heavy cream (no garlic or seasoning), the mussels were off (they smelled very bad the moment they were set down on the table - kindly the server removed that from our bill as they were inedible) - and the other pasta dishes were on par with Olive Garden; bland and not fresh. The salad and chianti were fairly good. I do hope they can do better with the food quality since the service was really good.

Was referred to Danielas from a mutual friend, so glad we listened. Everything was great from the service to the food. The busboy/ water boy never left our water cups empty. We will definitely be back. A must is the cannoli! Yummy.

Buss stopped right in front of the restaurant. Had heard nothing about it, but we decided to give it a whirl. The food and service were great! Open front glass doors were so continental. Will go back.

This is a typical NYC restaurant. The food was adequate and, by New York standards mid-priced. A good choice for before theater.

It was a nice enough restaurant; the food was nice and the service was great. However, like some other restaurants they included a gratuity without telling you or prewarning you. I think it is illegal and unethical. It would be like going into a shop and the price of a product is ten dollars but when you pay for it you are charged $15. I really like NY but thinking about not coming back because of this unethical behaviour.

Pushy staff, fake nice. We ordered Penne a la Vodka. The tomato sauce was a ready-made sauce, there was no taste of vodka. When it came to paying, an 18% tip was automatically added to the bill. The dinner was a disappointment!

The stars are for the service, which was great. The food gets zero stars. I knew I would pay higher prices, being in the theater district, so I accept that. But the food was really downright disgusting. I ordered the salmon and less than 5 minutes after I ordered, a huge plate was put in front of me - it must have been pre-prepped and microwaved when I ordered. Salmon on a bed of spinach, with a side of broccoli and the worst rosemary potatoes I have ever had. I am no cook, and even I can make some decent roasted potatoes that are at least edible - these were not. I thought I could salvage something from the meal by ordering dessert, but even that was gross. Pre-plated slice of cheesecake that must have been cut hours earlier, because the outer layer had that rubbery, stale texture that you can imagine on a slice of cheesecake sitting on a plate in a fridge for a day. I couldn't finish either the meal or the dessert. Worst $50 I ever spent on food; would have been more enjoyable to get a $2 slice of pizza on 9th Ave.

Good Italian dinner. The food was tasty and was served quickly. The place was very busy and crowded so if you are looking for a quiet corner - this is not for you.

We were a party of 5 , had a reservation but arrived early and they sat us early. Right in the heart of the theater district. Delicious food, fast service, would definitely eat there again when in the area. So happy we made this choice to eat here. .

We stopped in for a lunch and had a lovely window seat. From there it was all down hill. The soda was flat, the “homemade” fries (that don’t come with your meal and cost $7) were frozen and they were out of turkey burger (and they didn’t know until 10 minutes after I placed my order). We had several different waiters, but nobody wanted to bring our bill when we were done and nobody filled my drink. I will not be back.

Service was very attentive, we loved the ambiance as well. The pizza oven broke that day so my daughter was a bit disappointed as it was her birthday. Location from the theatres was fantastic and we did enjoy ourselves.

Great home cooked Italian food. Not huge portions but well cooked and full of flavour. Specials in addition to the menu - so spaghetti and meatballs and lasagne were eagerly ordered. Be warned - the garlic bread portions are HUGE! Gorgeous, but giant!

Overall, our experience at Daniela Trattoria was quite uneven, with some positives and some negatives. If you are looking for Italian comfort food in the area, it is probably a good choice. I ordered The Chris Special, a house specialty that includes baked rigatoni and a chicken cutlet, and it was definitely a heav comfort food. My dinner partner ordered the Grilled Portobello salad, which she said was not at all what she expected but was quite tasty anyway. In contrast, the red sangria was so sweet as to almost be undrinkable, and service could have been better. While some waiters seemed to be personable, ours was brusque with us and just slung down our food and drink and kept moving.

We had eaten here last year which was very good. Came back here after a play and I have to say was just not quite the same. My husband’s chicken parm was excellent but the rigatoni bolognese fell short. Hardly any meat in sauce and pasta was harder then al dente. Also, they should have posted that the bathroom facility was out of order so I wouldn’t have had the experience I had when i went in to use, something about faucet broke in kitchen so had to shut water off.

Due to the shutdown most restaurants aren’t busy. We had the chicken piccata and fettuccine Alfredo. Both were cooked al dente and in a lot of garlic.

Great food and service; this was a perfect choice before Broadway. The staff was very nice. I would definitely recommend making this a stop for a good Italian meal!

I visited Daniela a couple of weeks ago when I was on a business trip to NYC. I sought it out because of the reviews and pictures on TripAdvisor, particularly the pictures. I was looking for a good Italian place with a pretty inside. When I arrived, I was pleased even more than I expected to be with the decor, since the front of the restaurant was open almost entirely to the street. It was great fun to sit and watch the passersby. The waiter seemed just right, in that I always had what I needed but didn't feel rushed out. The house wine was fine and not too expensive for NYC ($9/glass).The pasta special of a creamy bowtie pasta with chicken and peas was great and very filling. Since I had a mini fridge in my hotel room, I decided to get a box to take the extras home. When I got back to my room to put the pasta in the fridge, I was pleased to see the waiter had put utensils and napkins in the bag, which I had forgotten to ask for. I'll return again when in NYC.

after a long day we fell upon this little beauty, the service was fabulous from start to finish. the food was fresh tasty and great portion size. they even went beyond to change the dish slightly. this is well worth a visit if you want to relax and have a good time. the whole atmosphere was amazing.

Daniela Restaurant sits in a sea of other restaurant options. We found it really good with super friendly service and really enjoyable food. Reasonably priced for the locations. Recommended.

Went here for dinner before a Broadway Show. Food was absolutely amazing! I had the Chris Special and it did not disappoint. Generous portions.

Made reservation for a pre show meal. We ate upstairs which was nice and comfortable. Wait staff was friendly and attentive and food came in timely manner. I was disappointed that I was not offered a refill on my cup of coffee. 'Just ask' it goes a long way to make someone feel appreciated. Food is just okay. The eggplant was well prepared and was good, but the sauce was actually kind of bland. The brown sauce for my wife's chicken was also bland. Vegetables were good. Less expensive than most other restaurants in Theater District, so if you don't expect much, you won't be disappointed.

On our trip to New York , we ate breakfast in this Italian restaurant on 8th Ave. The staff are very helpful, friendly and it's a lovely restaurant. Breakfast served until 11am. Great selection on the breakfast menu, something for everyone. Their porridge/oats was delicious. All food served for our group of 4, was delicious each morning. Coffee and tea topped up also. Great find. Highly recommend

Pro: water was never empty, very prompt refills Cons: greasy food; sauce used to hide overcooked and dried out food; refills were given freely without notifying our party of 12 that they charge for refills (resulting in over $40 worth of soda for 6 people); 20% tip was also already included - normal for parties over 8, but not typically starting at 20%. Conclusion: small menu restaurant with serviceable food - although service was fast, felt more like they were trying to turn over tables and not provide excellent service.

The fact that reservations were available for Saturday night less than 24 hours in advance should have been a red flag, so shame on me. Had dinner here before the theater and was not impressed. The spaghetti pomodoro was decidedly average and didn’t have much flavor. The service was quick and friendly and the location is convenient to the theatre district but I expected more for Italian food in New York City.

No hype, just great Italian food, great service, great drinks, great find! After looking for a place to eat on a Friday night in the city without an hour or two wait, we stumbled across this gem! Sat right away, served quickly and it was amazing!

Driven by the name “trattoria” we entered this restaurant that has nothing of trattoria! The pasta was hot and with no flavor like pizza! They closed the restaurant at 9:30 p.m., practically kicking us out!

My friend and I had lunch here yesterday before our show. We were seated right away at a table by the window. The service was excellent and the food was delicious! We both ordered a pasta dish, and got the prix fixe, which included soup or salad, dessert and coffee.

All going fine until I found an inch long metal bolt in my tiramisu. I obviously complained, and was then told it was ‘probably a mistake’. No management apology and just a brush off. Unbelievably badly dealt with. Who knows what really goes on in the kitchen behind the scenes. Whole pre theatre meal absolutely ruined. No compensation was offered apart from not paying for the tiramisu!!! Avoid!

I had lasagna. The flavor was good but the pasta was badly overcooked. The service was excellent

If a restaurant says vegan options, it should have vegan options. One member of our party was vegan, and left hungry. No pasta- no pizza- nothing they were willing to whip up to accommodate her. The “mixed veggies” we begged them to cook was a bowl of broccoli and one of spinach. The rest of the food was good, to be fair, but the Trip Advisor captions for this restaurant should not say vegan options. It’s 2022- please catch up to the number of diners seeking vegan options. Service good- prices typical for this area.

We are coming here for the second time. Back in February 2019, we came for brunch, it was beyond amazing and service was wonderful. This September, 2021, we came here for lunch. The best cappuccino and tiramisu in the whole New York! And truffle pizza was really really nice. Once we are in New York again, we are coming back! Thank you for having us

Visited with hubby and mother in law. Food and service were amazing. Huge portions and great value. Small and cosy restaurant would definitely come back!

Pasta was cooked too much and too amount of pasta. I guess they serve only for tourist for people who are interested in Americanised italian food. And wine by the glass were too expensive for the quality.

I went in for lunch last month and was super impressed. Really good prices for New York City. My chicken was amazing tender and juicy. The house wine was great. and the service was extremely friendly and helpful. HIGHLY RECOMMEND>

So they don’t do a children’s menu and they huffed and puffed when we ordered dishes to share - they meat is not nice and for $23 you don’t expect that. They then rushed us and took plates away when still eating and didn’t offer any alternatives or helped the children - all they wanted was a plain bowl of pasta but they couldn’t do that .. they were rude and didn’t make us feel welcome at all. It was a very expensive mistake. I’d never go again.

This restaurant is near to both to parking locales and theaters. Definitely recommend eating upstairs. Friendly, efficient service. We enjoyed an excellent cabernet and found the garlic bread absolutely fabulous, as were our main dishes: rigatoni Bolognese andoricchiette putanes. Would definitely return.

We came for a pre-theatre meal. Good service - attentive. Good food. (Not great our outstanding.) The proximity to the theatre cannot be beat!! I tried the boiled salmon with veggies - skip the potatoes and a salad. A bit heavy on the dressing on the salad. A bit heavy on the oil on the salmon, but good. More than enough salmon to split between two people. We’ll probably try a different place before the next show.

Our hotel was just around the corner, and the security guard recommended this compact Italian Restaurant. Although maybe not the cheapest breakfast is was certainly the best and offered great value and service. We came back here foremost for most of our stay in NY. We tended not to be in the area later in the day, so disappointingly were unable to savour their other delights. Only reason we knocked it down a star, is its in a very busy environment; but then I suppose that's 'New York'! But if we are back, we will certainly call in again. Thanks

We liked our spaghetti and service was good. They have guys there that watch and fill your drink as soon as it gets low. I thought it was nice until I realized every time they refilled we were charged so I paid for 4 cokes for 2 people. 16 dollars for refilled glasses of soda. I have never paid for soda refills and was not told. Not happy about that at all. So be warned that you will Pay for refills so it doesn’t come as a shock

We were headed to another restaurant recommended to us, but the wait was about 45 minutes. So we decided to walk around and just walked in Daniela's. So glad we did. Went with a traditional sausage pizza and a few glasses of wine. Service was incredible, quick and courteous. Highly recommend!

Was looking for a place with good food, coffee where I could hang out before I could check in to my hotel. It hit the mark on all things. Great food, friendly staff and mellow atmosphere. Plus a rocking playlist of tunes.

We came here for dinner prior to seeing Hamilton. Our waiter and servers were prompt and efficient. Our guests ordered a pitcher of white Sangria and we had pinot grigio. The bread was tasty. For entrees, I had a dinner special of black ink pasta with calamari, mussels, and shrimp with a light tomato gravy. It was delicious. Our guest had another special of risotto with seafood. He was very satisfied with the plate. Our other two members had spaghetti puttanesca and chicken piccata. We were all very satisfied with the food and the care the servers took to make sure we made it to the play on time.

Nice ambiance. Our dinner was average. My lasagna was okay, and my wife thought her veal was good (I disagreed). Starter was subpar.

Had a reservation; arrived early; seated promptly. Staff is very friendly and attentive. Lasagna was a nice luncheon portion with a vodka type sauce. My spouse's bolognese was also excellent. Sauces were better than your typical red sauce. Had a window table allowing us to people watch. Ordered the 1/2 pitcher of red sangria. Tasty and enough for 4 glasses We were not rushed but service was efficient.

My spouse and I first visited Daniela Trattoria for drinks on a Sunday afternoon in late October 2019, then again for drinks in early November 2019. Daniela is open for breakfast, lunch/brunch, dinner, drinks, in-between, and late night daily. Diners can book a spot using the online Open Table reservation system. Daniela Trattoria is located on bustling 8th Avenue between West 45th and 46th Streets in Midtown West/Theatre District. (In fact, we visited Daniela prior to attending a Broadway show at the Bernard B. Jacobs Theatre and John Golden Theatre nearby.) Although the exterior of Daniela might look a bit rough, inside is a lovely two-story dining space with exposed brick, reclaimed wood, and Italian-inspired prints and décor accents. On the street level, patrons dine at individual tables or at the small 4+ person bar. In warmer months, the front windows/walls can be retracted to allow a bit of al fresco dining. Upstairs is a larger dining room that features another small bar and additional restrooms (there is a single bathroom on the ground level) as well as seating at individual tables and at some tables that share one of two J-shaped padded banquettes on one side. Daniela serves Italian cuisine, including antipasti, soups, salads, pasta, pizzas, and formal entrees (meat and fish). Because the restaurant serves all meals of the day, it also offers international fare, particularly at breakfast/brunch time with eggs, omelets, sweets, and sandwiches. We had already eaten brunch elsewhere, so we sat at the street-level bar at Daniela and enjoyed some drinks. (FYI, they do not offer free refills on non-alcoholic beverages, which our server was kind enough to inform us of prior to charging us.) Sitting at the bar, on each of our visits, we observed the bartender plating desserts from the glass-fronted case adjacent to the bar; on each occasion, we witnessed her picking up a slice of cheesecake or other cakes with her bare hands – not gloved hands, nor using any utensil. She surely knew that we could see her, so we are concerned about what’s going on behind the scenes that caused a B rating at this establishment. We thought that she would have been on her “best behavior” knowing that patrons at the bar could see what she was doing. Daniela Trattoria provided us with a nice respite for drinks in a busy area.

This was recommended to us by a many times visiting NYC friend as a nice place for meals. It's true. Lovely service, for NYC reasonable price, and breakfast, lunch or dinner. Service is always smiling and helpful but not in your face. It's very near the Row hotel so handy to nip in for a meal.

Popped in for a lovely breakfast - I had the eggs benedict and my mum just had a bagel , served quickly and friendly with top ups of coffee and tea - would highly recommend

Walked by this place looking for a place to eat breakfast. Saw the plates being served thru the windows and knew this was it. It didn’t disappoint! Excellent, friendly service with great tasting food.

We were seated immediately and service was fast and friendly. We both had chicken mains served with potatoes and the vegetable of the day. Portion size and prices very good and water glasses were constantly refilled.

We were looking for a restaurant close to the theatre where we were seeing a show and this restaurant popped up on my search. I made prior reservations (most definitely recommend doing that as this restaurant is on the small side!), but the staff was fine with seating us earlier than our reserved time. Prices are those typical of NYC, but both the taste & quality of our meals were absolutely worth every penny! My Rigatoni Bolognese was great......the rigatoni was al dente, as it should be, and the sauce was flavorful. My spouse enjoyed every bite of his lasagna. Both dishes, we agreed, were of ample size. My glass of wine was overpriced, I thought, but my spouse's Small Sangria (the half-portion size) was definitely the deal of the day.......$18 for the pitcher and he poured 4 glasses from it. The staff was attentive, for sure. We did feel like we were rushed, though.......with such a small place, it seemed like the staff was trying to get diners in & out of the restaurant as quickly as they could. All in all, though, we were very happy with our lunch experience and would return in the future.

Two friends var Hi g jo Over sangrija and for dinner; campagnola and lasagna. Lasagna was from the homemade pasta menu and did not disappoint, campagnola ...sausage is a sausage, chicken tender veal ehhh had some grissel... sangria was good. Nice restaurant did not feel rushed actually got a table by the window so enjoyed the NYC huddle and bustle while eating

I ordered Fettucini with Pesto Sauce. The sauce looked like green paint. Not like any pesto I ever had. Lackluster ambiance in the restaurant. If my knee was in better shape I would have searched for a better restaurant, but this kept me close to the theater I was attending.

Great atmosphere and convenient location but watch out for the specials. The prices are crazy expensive and not advertised when you order!

My husband and I found this place before heading to see a show. We were lucky enough to get a table as soon as we walked in. It has a great italian and vibrant feel. We started with a bottle of Pinot Noir with bread and calamari. The wine and bread were great, but the calamari was ok. It was a big gamy and not quite crispy enough. For dinner, I had homemade pasta and it was excellent! I had the fettuccine al pesto. My husband even keep trying to eat my off my plate because it was so good. My husband had the gnocchi alla trevisana and ate every bit of it. He was very happy with it. We were too full for dessert. Overall, the service was excellent I would recommend this place for smaller parties due to the tight fit of the place.

Feels like a hidden gem! The service was great, the food was great, and the cannolis are even better! Really wish we would’ve found this place sooner in our trip so we could’ve eaten there more! We received our food very quickly and the staff was very attentive. Absolutely amazing would definitely come back when we return to the city.

Came here with my daughter, wanted a traditional Italian restaurant but didn’t really get it. Staff could do with smiling, food is nothing special at all but overpriced because of where it is. Wouldn’t go back.

Busy place before the theater. Suggest you make a reservation. They fit us in without a reservation at the busiest time, but requested we finish eating in an hour. That was doable. Excellent service with a sense of humor. Rigatoni Bolognese was as good as I've had in Italy. Salmon with bowtie pasta also worth the trip. Will definitely return for full meal experience on a later date

Our party of 4 went for a late breakfast on Saturday morning, and this restaurant was an excellent little find. Great location near the theater district, and a very nice menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner selections. The wait staff was fabulous, and our breakfast items were served hot and quickly. The prices are very reasonable as well.

Great food and nice staff in the heart of theatre district. Went for brunch and it was delicious. Would love to go back next time for dinner before a show!

We like trying brunch places as close to our theater as possible, and Daniela’s worked for the Outsiders. The lower dining room is intimate , and the service is really good. The caprese was fine, nothing special, and my wife and I both enjoyed our omelette, she had the guacamole omelette and I had the Greek one. We would definitely come back for brunch again and might try dinner here some night.

The food was tasty and the staff were friendly but it was expensive in comparison to other diners we visited.

This is a great neighborhood Italian restaurant with first-rate pasta dishes. It is convenient for theater dining.

Waited a long time for the food. Piccata was flavorless. My son had pizza and it was good but not great. Too many other options in this city to bother.

A small restaurant but authentic Italian feel to it. Advisable to reserve a table. The food is excellent. I had the shrimp in a spicy sauce with linguine. Really good. Service was great -very attentive. It’s not the cheapest place but you get what you pay for. I would certainly re-visit if in NYC

Pizza was great! Fresh fettuccini, Chianti. Excellent Calamari! Leonardo was superb! The old brick walls are very authentic as well! We walked to the show from here. It is also very close to Times Square.

We came here on our last day in New York for brunch. Stay away from the tourist traps on Broadway - this is a little gem !!! Bare brick walls, modern bar and a nice seating area it’s also very clean with a “A” rating The meatball sandwich was excellent as was the steak and onions sandwich - there is also a good menu for lunch and dinner Great place - just what we were looking for

I was looking for a place near my hotel to have dinner. The concierge recommended Daniele Trattoria which was nearby. It was raining out so I did not want to travel far. It is a large space on two levels with stairs leading up to the second level. It has a rustic appearance with brick walls and a cozy atmosphere. It is very clean and organized. I was seated immediately since the restaurant was not too crowded. They are open from 6a until midnight and serve breakfast. I got a glass of water and the menu to peruse after seating down. Bread was brought to the table along with butter. I ordered a glass of red wine and decided on the fried calamari and the linguine with pesto. Once my food arrived, I was surprised to see how generous the portions were-it was almost too much to eat! In summary, the portions were substantial, the waiters were very attentive and price wise it is reasonable considering the area. The real value are the portion sizes-a real deal if you are in the city with a family. The location is also optimal. I would recommend. One caveat-you will save money not using a credit card!

Let's be honest; You want to have dinner close to the theatre, talk a bit and not regret it. That is where I would put this restaurant. It is not overpriced, it has pretty good but not gourmet fare, and service is there. The house wine should be avoided. The portions are good sized. The pasta (lasagna and pesto at least) is serviceable. The minestrone is a bit al dente although not particularly well seasoned. But the theatre afterwards, within a few hundred feet is great.

I found this little Italian restaurant while walking down 8th street, trying to decide where to eat. Happy I went in to dine here. The food, I had pasta, was excellent! Even though I was full before being finished, it was too good to not eat every morsel that was left on that plate. Staff and service was excellent.

This Italian restaurant was so delicious; for the first time, I tried clam. I got the Clamp Oreganata; they were good, just a little bit salty but not bad. The rigatoni bolognese was really creamy. The place itself is really pretty, and be patient, as it is a small place and seems to get full quick. But if you make a reservation, you get to sit on the 2nd floor.

Food was just good, nothing extra. Price was high and I didn't appreciate the tip strongly recommended on top of the gratuity of 10% already included in the bill !!! Initially TIP was for "To Insure Promptness" , not a way to deceive the tourist.

We enjoyed everything about this restaurant before an evening show of Phantom! The servers were attentive and friendly. We enjoyed chatting with the owner who even let me know that I added $10.00 too much to the total bill- such honesty!!! Recommend without hesitation!

very small space, then either they happen to you to take or between them they rub, very boisterous and also expensive I do not return

I've yet to eat here in the evenings, but often eat breakfast here rather than in my hotel - cheaper, nicer food, and nicer environment. I usually end up with the corn beef hash (very rare to find in the UK) or eggs benedict

I LOVE this restaurant: great food, service, and location and reasonable prices. HOWEVER, BE AWARE. The restaurant has decided to start adding in a tip to every check. Restaurants typically only do this with big parties, six or more people. Guess what, Daniela’s - only I get to choose how much to give for a tip. You DO NOT. What incentive does your waitstaff have for being great? I’m sorry, this is a cheap tactic, sleazy, and I will not eat there again. Oh, and they actually have the nerve to advise you, on the bill, on what percentage your tip can be, you know, fifteen percent equals whatever, twenty percent equals whatever, even though the tip has already been added to the bill. Disgusting. I wonder how many people double tip? Or is that the point??? Shame on the management.

Perfect location walking distance from our hotel. The meal was delicious and served quickly after ordering. We had a show time and when I mentioned it, there was no hesitation from the waitstaff.

Great service. Friendly. Comfortable. Excellent food. Big portions. Loved it. I may never be back here, but it leaves me with a great memory.

We had a fabulous meal yesterday before the theatre. Service was fantastic and the staff were lovely and attentive. We had mango margaritas which were out of this world. Shared a Caesar salad, the dressing was excellent so much so I asked if they sold the dressing, they didn’t but arranged for me to have a carton to take back to the UK. We had the penne Alfredo and the seafood pasta followed by tiramisu and cannoli. Really recommend

Check your bill - we were charged double for our wine and had an extra charge added in for ordering the “daily special”! This is not a good restaurant. End of review. Avoid

I had the mushrooms and then the lasagne which were both smothered in the same average tasting tomato sauce. Service felt very rushed

We wanted Italian before a Broadway show. The food and service were all good, but almost nothing was spectacular. Salad was a bit small for $14, even by NYC standards, and some of the chicken was overdone. Sauces and bread were nice, but not memorable. However, the cheesecake was excellent. The wines were also very good, especially the house white.

We had been to a Broadway show so stopped into Daniela Trattoria for dinner afterward. The two of us ordered the basics (pasta and a salad) and shared them both. Friendly staff and nice ambiance.

We came here before going to see Hamilton. The service was very fast which was nice and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was nice with a wide range of pastas on offer.

Terrible customer service! Turned up to be told that menu was fixed to $115 pp. Said they made contact???? No contact whatsoever. Inaffordable!! Joke....family of four would cost $460 without drinks!!!!!! Other families walking out too.

We found this place quite by accident and it was a definite win for us. As a fan of “homemade” food and fresh ingredients, this place is a real gem. The restaurant itself is small but beautifully decorated with updated decor. The food is excellent and the service outstanding! We’ll be back in the future. What a treat to find this place one block away from the hustle and bustle of Time Square.

Stopped in here for lunch prior to the matinee. Service was prompt and friendly and our food arrived quickly. We had the club sandwich and salad, both of which were good. Would eat here again.

On recommendation of one of us, we ate post-matinee dinner at this restaurant. My chicken piccata, though thin, was not cooked through. The knife was too dull to cut it and I asked for a steak knife like my friend also having chicken. The waiter literally took a dirty knife out of a bus tub, and wiped it with a paper napkin, and handed it to me. It was covered with the remainders of food. Not a speck, covered. It was sickening.

Went here late Saturday evening after theatre show with my wife and 13yr old daughter. Waiter said they were still open while board outside stated happy hour deals available till 12. Once sat at table with drinks we are then told there would be no pizza or garlic bread available. Ordered pasta that came out in minutes and was lukewarm at best. We were given the bill while still eating which charged gull prices for everything and not happy hour quoted on the board outside. Waiting staff stared at us the entire time as we ate as though they couldn't wait to see the back of us. Had the audacity to put a 15 dollar tip for service when it had basically been served with a Tennis Racquet. If it was too late the guy should have said we are closing or that the full menu was not available and we would have gone elsewhere. I would recommend you go elsewhere unless lukewarm food, rude service and barefaced cheek is what you are looking for.

I ate a calamari pasta dish for $31. The calamari was rubbery, the pasta and sauce were very one-note, flavorless. I could not drink my ice tea (not brewed tea). Service was indifferent. Needless to say, value for money was not there (not an inexpensive meal!). It was close to our show that night, so at least it was convenient. But, there are better options available in the area. I don't recommend this restaurant.

Went here for a pre-show dinner and it was perfect. First of all the wait staff is so attentive and genuine. They really seem to welcome you. Recommend the mozzarella sticks for appetizer. My seafood risotto was just right and came with an assortment of squid, mussel, clam and shrimp. The Bolognese also was tasty and authentic. The free bread given was a great complement to the meal but I would suggest they provide olive oil rather than just butter. Good selection of beer. There is ample seating on the first floor and the second floor as well.

Small Italian restaurant with a good menu to select from. The staff was very attentive and friendly; the food came out quickly and was delicious with large portions. The chicken parm and the lasagna were very tasty. Being a narrow establishment it was quite noisy when it filled up with early broadway show diners. Prices were reasonable for NYC. We would definitely come back.

We visited here after arriving late on our first night in NYC. We happened across this little place whilst wandering around close to our hotel. Lovely food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the meatballs and it was great. Portions size was good and I could not eat it all. Lovely homemade food and would definitely recommend.

Good pre theater restaurant. Good food and quick service. We were there in November 2023 and January 2024 and had a good experience both times

Great pizza off a paper plate on wooden bar stools is everywhere in NYC. At Daniela you can get great pizza, sit down, and relax. We ordered antipasto, it was gigantic. Followed by a Margherita pizza. It was excellent. We tried a carafe of house wine and it was better than anticipated. We we were so happy. They serve other Italian specialties, not just pizza. It all looked good. Service is unusual. Lots of servers are milling around, and nobody seems to be your particular server. We talked to whoever was the nearest server and things kind of work out. I believe they have a full bar? They also serve breakfast, lunch, and dessert. We've been twice over the years and won't hesitate to go again.

The food was good in general. The bread was very stale--I've had softer croutons--and tasted old. Even though there were only two of us, the bill came with a service charge, so you want to be aware of that when getting the bill. There was also a different charge for cash vs. credit, with cash being cheaper, also important to know ahead of time.

Huge portions. I was in the mood for carbonara And they made it for me even though it wasn’t on the menu. Very good. Risotto was chicken with veggies in saffron. Excellent! Great service. We got in here just before it got crowded. Every table was filled within twenty minutes of arriving. We got here just before noon.

We went to Daniela's around 5:00 before our 7:00 theater time. The restaurant was already fairly crowded and totally full when we left. I had lasagna and it was very good. My husband had another pasta dish that we really enjoyed. The tables are very close to each other so if you want a quiet romantic dinner, I don't suggest Daniela's. However, if you want good food and a casual atmosphere, this is the place. We met the couple next to us and had a very nice conversation while eating. It was very nice. We would go back next time if we want an early dinner. I would suggest reservations.

We were in town for a show and needed a place to go to lunch. There was a group of eight of us - sisters, cousins, mother and aunt. Just a fun way to start the trip. Everyone really enjoyed their food - very large portions - just an FYI - but good. Staff was friendly and accommodating. We were early but they still seated us. We got to have a leisurely lunch before strolling around the corner to our theater. Perfect spot for a perfect lunch.

Awesome spot close to the theaters. Staff super friendly and attentive. All 7 of us ordered different things as well as several appetizers and everything was delicious. Good portion size as well. I would definitely go back.

We were just out exploring early on a very cold New York Wednesday morning. It wasn't busy so we decided to try it. We were seated by the window and enjoyed watching the people on their way to start their day. I ordered the avocado toast and my husband ad the granola/yogurt/fresh fruit bowl Our service was gracious and we enjoyed our breakfast. An added bonus was that they are on the Hilton Honors Dining program.

My husband and I just happened on this restaurant as we were exploring NYC for a restaurant for dinner. Great food, great service, reasonably priced! Who good ask for more?!

When we went, the place was filled with loud, obnoxious pre-matinee patrons. We had to wait to be seated, despite having a reservation. They delivered our order to the wrong table. My wife ordered a sausage, onions & peppers sandwich, no sauce. It came with no sausage. The pizza was okay. Will NOT return.

We were there for lunch. In two we chose who spaghetti with tomato sauce and who rigatoni Bolognese. Our palates didn't get that excited. The three balls and not two are awarded for the kindness and courtesy of the staff!

Excellent pre-theater choice. Friendly, attentive service and reasonably priced meals. We had the Gamberi Scampi and the Scallopine Marsala and they were both excellent!

Loved this restaurant! Picked it because it was so close to the theater we were going to that night. Lovely atmosphere. Staff was impeccable. Water always full. Food came out quickly and nice and hot. Our selections were delicious. Nice wine selection, drinks were top notch. Staff was very attentive. Tables were not too close together. Cannot say enough good things about this place. Oh one more word. Cannoli!!!!

Calamari rubbery served with a sauce that looked like orange purée Dinner Shrimp Fra Diablo recommended by waiter/ same awful sauce that was served with calamari with a few cherry tomato’s No spice no hint of freshness

Great food and traditional style restaurant. But although the food was great, it’s crazy expensive. All little extras charges added up along with the large tip already added to the bill. Extra charges to use a credit card rather than cash. We didn’t have cash with us so had to pay the extra cost. Nice food, but only go if you have very deep pockets.

We were in the neighborhood for Harry Potter play and needed to find a quick bite between performances. The restaurant was crowded and noisy. Service was OK and so was the food. And of course, the prices reflected the location. It's an OK place to eat but I doubt I'll be back.

Go early or make sure you have a reservation. There is a reason this restaurant is packed. It's just great Italian comfort food. We split a pizza as an appetizer and had chicken parmigiana and the short rib pappardelle as entrees. We recommend all of it. The portions were huge, but so delicious that we tried to finish every bite (but couldn't). Service was friendly. We sat downstairs, which was very loud. But that just means that you have to be romantic and lean in closer to your companion to chat.

Great place to eat pre theatre. The Garlic bread was very nice as were the chicken dishes and fries. Staff were friendly.

We ate here Halloween night. The food was delicious and they made me a special dish not on the menu. Server was friendly and accommodating. My only complaint is that tables were not 6 feet apart which made me very leery. It is a very tiny restaurant. When we arrived there were 2 other parties already seated. I asked to be at the table furthest from them. But when another party arrived they put them right next to us. They also kept a book for contact tracing.

Amazing find and please don’t judge a book by its cover! Food was so tasty and plentiful. Small run business competing against massive competition. Best meal we have had in New York during our stay . Would highly recommend.

What this restaurant really has going for it is its location. It’s very close to theaters. The food is better than average and the service is both friendly and accommodating. We were in a large group of twelve and they happily accommodated our group when we arrived early and made sure we were well taken care of. My meal was not what I expected and they provided something else with no questions asked—-highly recommend for theater goers.

The food was good, but very expensive! Gave 112 bucks for two pastries with chicken and two glasses of wine. The staff put $15 on top as drink money without asking for it. There is clearly better food for that Award

Tourist trap with poor food quality. However restaurant helps itself to a 25% tip which they automatically add to your bill. Avoid.

So many Italian places to choose from but we couldn’t say enough about this place. Food was great as were the portions. Service was excellent, very attentive. Waited less than 10 minutes for our entrees.

Right close to broadway theatres and time square . Clean , welcoming, attractive atmosphere. Waiters very attentive ,and food is oh so good , and fresh and big portions.

Just back from our 4 night break in New York staying near Times Square. We ate breakfast here the first day and for all the other days after. Excellent food, good menu range and fab service. Only regret is that we couldn’t fit in a dinner here!

It is a tourist trap and a real price robbery. If you order off-menu dishes they raise the price when they see you as a tourist. Pay a fortune for not asking the prices of sangria and off-menu dishes. A complete tip-off. The average food is rather bad. I don't recommend it at all.

It is very expensive but excellent Italian food, worth the visit, recommended without a second conversation, of the best.

I enjoyed the Veal Marsala very much. The chef was very accommodating with my guest's requests. They have been refinishing the restaurant for a while, and I don't like the removal of the original tables. They really need to figure a way to keep the cold out, especially since there's so much room for guests to gather while waiting for tables.

Really enjoyed this authentic Italian restaurant. The service was prompt and courteous, and the eggplant parmigiana we each ordered was perfect...thinly sliced and prepared with a delicious sauce. The tables were tightly spaced, but when we were there it did not get too loud and we did not feel cramped.

We wanted to get something light after a matinee & just happened to see this restaurant. the food was great and the service was excellent - did not have a long wait - the restaurant was small but did not have to wait to be seated.

Went here before going to see a Broadway show. They seated us quickly, took our order quickly, and brought our food quickly., The food was very good and reasonably priced. Everyone in our party said they'd be happy to go back again. Hard to beat this as a pre-theater option. We loved the mushroom risotto balls and are already planning to get them again on our next visit!

We were looking for gluten free options so picked Daniela’s and made a reservation for a Saturday before theater dinner. We were seated promptly. However I got an email shortly after being seated that the reservation was cancelled so didn’t get the dining points. I am generously giving this restaurant a 3. The food was just OK. Nothing spectacular. But they did have gluten free pasta. Restaurant was very crowded and they pack the tables tightly. We sat upstairs. The service was friendly but they really rushed us along. We barely had eaten the last bite when our plates were all whisked away, while lingering over coffee, they slid a table for 2 over to meet our table and seated a new couple right with us. That was awkward for all involved. We figured it was a hint for us to leave. So, if you was a very quick meal, this might work well for you. We won’t be going back.

Read the “good” reviews so made a reservation after out show. The staff was not friendly,. Several customers came in after us and immediately water and bread was placed on their tables and their drink orders were taken immediately. I order veal parmigiana, the sauce was was watery and the veal was tough. My husband had veal piccata which he said was OK As we were leaving, my husband said “don’t think we should come back here again”. I Argree and do not recommend this restaurants. There are plenty of other Italian restaurants in the area

It was a great spot for dinner. Food was good reasonably priced. It is close to theatre. Staff was very nice. I would definitely go again

Cosy, rustic, small Italian restaurant. Family run, homemade pasta, varied menu (including New York steak), friendly, good service and good value for money. I had dinner here twice during my visit

I've been to this restaurant a couple of times before. Never had any issues. But last night, I had a 6pm reservation for 3 people. My friends and I got to the restaurant a little before 6pm. At that point, there were already a lot of people waiting for tables. There was no rhyme or reason with checking anyone in. Finally I told one of the servers that we had a reservation. He was running around trying to seat people and serve other tables. After waiting 30 minutes, my friends and I were seated. I think if I wasn't assertive enough, reminding them that we were waiting for a table (that was technically already reserved), we would've waited even longer. So much for making a reservation on Open Table. Once we were seated, I flagged down a server so we could order since we were going to an 8pm show. Thankfully, the food was served quickly and everyone enjoyed their meals (spaghetti and meatballs, gnocchi, and chicken parm) . Since I've been to this place before, I expected more from them. I understand that it was Saturday night and it was prime time for everyone having dinner. But what is the point of making a reservation if you can't hold the reservation? As Jerry Seinfeld said, the most important part of the reservation is the holding; anybody can just take them. My review was only 3 stars because of the wait. It really twisted me and it ruined the whole experience for enjoying a nice dinner before the show.

Daniela's is a small Italian restaurant in Midtown Manhattan. It was empty when I went there as the coronavirus was picking up. The food was terrific. I had a huge dish called the "Chris Special" - rigatoni bolognese with chicken and mozzarella. I was extremely hungry and it was extremely tasty and filling.

Classic tourist rip off. There is always one serving of a “special left” it will always be “lobster” it will be $55. Not worth that. They will say. “We can make you a Carbonara as special if you wish as not on menu”’and then charge $50 for it. (What decent Italian would not have a carbonara on the menu as standard!?) They pretty much “waterboard” you they are so desperate to get water and wine done you. They add 20% tip without asking and then leave a pen and another receipt asking for another “additional discretionary” tip. 5 people. Average food. 1 bottle of wine. $350 Don’t go in.

Not knowledgeable about gluten sensitivities at this restaurant. I understand that it’s an Italian restaurant, but when a customer asks if a pasta dish can be made GF And you say yes, you would hope That someone would catch on that the chicken in the dish, which was not advertised as breaded, should not be breaded and fried. That really defeats the purpose of a gluten free dish. Even if the server didn’t catch it, someone in the kitchen should have.

We ate here on our last day before we left NYC, right down from our hotel. We just made breakfast time which ends at 11 I guess. We had 3 omelets, 1 coffee and 2 cappuccinos. The omelets included toast (not buttered) and potatoes. Food tasted great. Price for this meal including standard tip, $75

I stumbled across this little gem on my morning walk from our hotel the Row. By far the best breakfast we have had all week in New York. Great staff so attentive & the food is just perfect.

This locale is conveniently located. It is a good casual spot to meet with friends or family for a fast Italian meal. Their service is nice and efficient. Their food is ok.

We eat at Daniela Trattoria before a show. Being in Times Square, I wasn't expecting great food so I wasn't disappointed that the food was nothing special. Luckily we got to the restaurant 2 hours before our show since the service was excruciatingly slow. We were seated and ignored for 10 minutes before someone came and took our drink order. It was another 10 minutes before we were finally brought menus and another 15 before someone took our order. They had plenty of staff on the floor but only one waiter. Besides the waiter they had a nice person came around at least four times and filled our water glasses while we waited, someone else who seated people and one poor man who had to carry the food upstairs to the dining room. The waiter took his time with each table and did not seem concerned that people were waiting for a half hour or more for him to take their orders. I would go somewhere else unless you want a long wait for mediocre food.

Stopped at Daniela’s with my best friend for lunch, in one of the hottest days NY has ever seen! we are both italian, and we were both absolutely impressed with the choice and yumminess of the food! The Caprese for starter was super fresh, and both the Pasta Pesto and Parmigiana for mains were delicious and very generous portions too! Staff very lovely, we were served by a tall gentleman with grey hair who was very nice and so was his colleagues, I forgot to ask for their names though, they were both fab. Coffee was great and yes I wish I could return to Daniela’s tomorrow but unfortunately I live in London! Defo will return on my next visit to NY and will definitely recommend.

I happened upon this place one evening when I was looking for a bite before seeing a show, and was so happy to have found it. The place was packed (always a good sign), and the service was fast and friendly. I had a sole special, and it was absolutely delicious. I returned to this restaurant on my next trip a few months later, and tried a pasta dish this time - not usually a go-to for me - and was again very satisfied with my choice. I will definitely return to this place on my next trip!

We went to this restaurant because it seemed to be highly rated. Arrived around 7:00 pm and were asked - upstairs or downstairs - we picked upstairs. Ordered a drink which took a few minutes and then were told - at 7:15 - upstairs closes at 7:30. What happens then I asked - we sweep, clean up and close. . . so you have 15 minutes to order an appetizer, your mains and eat everything in 15 minutes. As fast an eater as I may be, there was no way to accomplish this. . . when the serving person was asked why the short time line - answer - theatre crowd is gone by 7:30 so owner closes then - not my problem only doing my job. Paid for drinks and left the appropriate gratuity. Anyone going here. confirm you can actually get food in the allotted time or better yet go across the street to Il Forno - great food, great staff and they won't kick you out after 10 minutes.

Very convenient to lots of theaters, which was nice on a snowy February evening. The food was adequate - we had chicken parm and pasta primavera, bu nothing special. Service was excellent.

I really enjoyed the food and the service was great. I had the ravioli which was cooked to perfection and their marinara sauce is delicious. I recommend the mozzarella sticks and lasagna which is what my sister had. Price of food was a bit high and dessert was not spectacular. Skip dessert but enjoy the delicious entrees and the price of the meal is reasonable.

The best breakfast in Time Square! I almost missed out on this great place. The food was great and the service was great!!

Both the food and the service is excellent. We enjoyed our lasagna and red wine. The place is easy to find, cozy on the inside, and provides great value.

We stumbled upon this lovely trattoria while trying to find breakfast. Passed a couple places that came up on google but all were packed and looked more like fast food. No wait, indoor and outdoor seating, wonderful service. Food was excellent! No large crowds, quiet, got to take our time. So good we went back the next day!

Went to a show at Sony Hall and stopped in at Daniela’s for dinner. Service is excellent. Started off with a margarita pizza and it was spot on. The pasta dishes were fresh and very tasty. This is a definite spot to stop if you are in the area and hungry.

My family just had lunch here and it was great! It is hard to find a restaurant in the area still open due to Covid. We were so happy to find this one. Wait staff was very attentive and friendly. Food was delicious, very fresh, and so generous! We had to take leftovers on plane home because so full. Prices were extremely reasonable. We were served fresh crusty bread right after ordering. We ordered chicken parm sandwich, a pasta dish, and a pizza. All three were so fresh and generous. The leftovers made it back to Minnesota and heated up. Enjoyed eating outside at this great place! Highly recommend.

Authentic home made Italian food. The best food we had on our trip. Ravioli seafood special was amazing. Customer service was great, very friendly staff and felt very welcomed. Price was great, good value for money. I would recommend to anyone visit to NYC.

My Wife and I thoroughly enjoyed eating here with another couple that are close friends if ours..The Food and Service was excellent!!

Servers are very friendly but little gnats on plate. I had the chicken cacciatore. It was ok , my bread was stale. The place was small and cute open air.

We ate breakfast here every morning & it was excellent. Friendly highly efficient waiting staff & service. Would definitely reccommend!

Too bad I only get to work in New York City once a year. Daniela Trattoria has ALWAYS been my "Go To" place. Every Co-Worker I've brought now comes here multiple times during our Business Conference. Whether it be Breakfast, Lunch or Dinner! Something here for everyone!

French toast with cream cheese and berries. Oh yeah! I really enjoy a good French toast twist. This dish runs a very close second to my all time favorite of French toast with ham and Brie. Service was warm and friendly. I checked out their dinner menu and will go back to give it a try.

Pre theatre lunch at this busy spot: friendly atmosphere and good service. We enjoyed Avocado toast and Ceasar salad with grilled chicken: everything was good. Nice variety of choices on the menu, which includes both Italian cuisine and American favorites options.

We had a lovely dinner here. The atmosphere was nice, service was good and friendliness was average. It was very cold and all the customers were putting on jumpers and cardigans. The garlic bread was delicious and the lasagne was really tasty. It was quite expensive.
Would definitely recommend
We found this place by accident- it was raining. It’s pretty small and not easily noticed, but it was lovely. Cute and cosy inside and the food was lovely and reasonably priced.
