Good food .. long rush

By Rajagopal S |

You have to time your lunch with indi .. in peak tine ther e could be long queues.. i used to work near flatiron and eat here quite often. Love their nonveg items. Veggie items are average .. i ate their mushroom curry and it was too liquidy.. try Goan fish, chicken curry etc. OutStanding. A little pricey but good for once in a week lunch..

Quick and delicious

By Haristhna |

For fast food Indian, this was awesome. You build your bowl kind of like in Chipotle. Many options including great vegetarian selections. I had paneer tikka on top of biryani and some samosas and everything was really good. The onion crunchy typing they provide was a nice addition, and they give you lots of sauces too. Inexpensive, convenient and tasty. Wish they had locations where I live!

Amazing food and staff!

By Sarah G |

We are visiting NYC from Canada and heard that IndiKitch had amazing food so we had to stop in and give it a try. We were not disappointed at all. I had the chicken tikka feast, my husband had the mushroom kadai feast, and my dad ordered the paneer tikka biryani. Each of us loved it. I highly recommend the garlic naan, blood orange lemonade, mango lassi, and samosas too. We ordered the samosas for our 3 year old son, but he must have found it a little spicy, because he was reluctant to finish them. Management must have overheard because not long after, a staff member came to our table with a full size plate of rice and chicken, and a piece of naan for him. It was so sweet and such a nice gesture. They even stopped to talk with us and even praised my husband for being such a good dad when my husband walked my son over to say thank you. We truly were touched and plan on trying to make another visit before our vacation ends. The food was great but believe me, the service from the kind staff was even better. Thank you for such a great experience, IndiKitch!

Indian food at breakneck speed!

By sradmd |

My girlfriend and I had a late lunch here and the meal was delicious, reasonably priced, and delivered quickly. We both love Indian food, and they have a moderate selection of quick "build your own" meals that deliver both taste, presentation, and expediency. We would definitely dine here again.

Indian food

By jack0786 |

5 star food to start with .... during our New York stay we went to this place few times , as food was very fresh and yummy... shop has a new concept of serving Indian Food and we loved the way food combinations and curries were made - price is very reasonable to the quantity- samosas are to die for - everything top quality- friendly stagf

Fast Indian food

By Toneen |

Running short on time so grabbed a quick bite here: chicken tikka with rice and a garlic naan. Food was plentiful and chicken was decent, rice a little dry. Naan bread was ok. All in all, worth a try if you don’t want a sit down dinner or lunch

Excellent Indian Fast Food

By yashshah1 |

Great place to have lunch or dinner. All the curries are made right in front of you instantly according to your "how spicy" preference. Love eating there and would recommend to everyone! P.S Top level of spicy is really really spicy...and this is coming from an Indian guy who loves spicy food.

Lovely indian food

By Alok V |

Found this place just walking by, wonderful food and fantastic service. Very simplistic approach to make selection easy

Delicious, healthy and cheap!

By Hannah S |

We stopped by IndiKitch for lunch and were really happy we chose to eat here. There was a lot of variety to choose from and you could mix/match your favourite sides! The food was flavourful and represented good value for money. Everything is cooked and prepared in front of you in their open kitchen. Our experience at IndiKitch was great. Service was fast and efficient, the only thing they are lacking is seating!

Authentic Indian food served in an America-friendly format

By JUBIN S |

I liked the Indikitch food so much that I visited it twice in a short week-long trip. The restaurant serves delicious mushrooms, paneer tikka and Palak paneer as part of a biryani (delicious rice), salad, naan or dosa format. The mains were fantastic, perfect blend of spices and authentic flavours. The mushrooms especially are a must try. The base however can be made better - the dosas were a bit too oily, biryani didn't feel very fresh as it's always supposed to be served piping hot. Best to go for the salad and enjoy the mains, maybe even take an extra main by the side. A great Indian fast food experience overall

Not my favorite

By kerosarge |

I was really excited to eat Indian in NYC, but this was just a fast food version, and I didn't get what I ordered. Their design and workflow was beautiful, but I'm fairly certain everyone was high or brand new. I ordered the Saag paneer, but instead got the tikka paneer, and it was LOADED with onions, which I hate. I didn't realize it was the wrong thing until I had started to eat it and compared it to what my friend ordered. It was kind of a confusing place for a newcomer.

Hot and spicy on a cool night

By NNM9 |

Pretty hot, good, flavorful. Hotter than most Indian Restraunt my Minnesota family has been to. And we did mild versions.

Tasty Indian fusion food!

By click n |

Easy place to grab Indian fusion food to go. Always busy at lunch hours with long moving que but serveice is fast. Curry options are great with veg, chicken & fish options. Limited seating available.

Get it India

By Nathan G |

Deep Indian kitchen offers takeaway or dine in options and really satisfied my cravings for something spicy. If you’re looking for an escape from fried food or pizza, then give this place a go. I really enjoyed the large plate where you can choose your choice of rice, side salad and main. You need to have naan bread to soak up that sauce! Good value for money and offers the option to take away back to your hotel room!

Lunchtime Biryani

By weejim |

Paying $18 for a tasteless Biryani, with almost no chicken, had spicy - but there was no heat for my liking. Nice nan and interesting onion Bhaji snacks were the saviour. Chose this instead of a set lunch at Junoon, big mistake - can I go back in time

Weird place. The food is okay but not great.

By LawGod2 |

We were starving and the lines at Eataly were too long. We noticed this place a few doors down and love indian food so decided to try it out. They have kathi rolls, dosas and some other options, served up in a chipotle style fast-casual way. The prices were reasonable for the location. I had the dosas and they were served like tacos (they were samll and stuffed and folded once). They didn't taste very authentic and the sauces served with them were odd for dosas. A somewhat unbalanced customer wandered into the place and started asking lots of strange questions of the staff and I thought they were rude to her and made jokes about her which I didnt think was cool.

Best Indian Restaurant in a very long time!!!

By Deepali S |

Want to have a fun and casual place to meet up with friends & family? This is the spicy bite not to be missed :) generous portions of gourmet prepared meals at truly unbelievable prices. I was almost sad eating my last bite. ;) Had the dosa with mushroom kadai (medium spice). Relaxed & informal atmosphere. For my first meal after landing into NY it was a perfect start to my day. Like a perfect recipe from mom's kitchen <3

Your choice n your meal

By Lutchman2015 |

An informal but tidy eating place. Select what you prefer and it is prepared in your presence. Food is delicious and staff are friendly. Indian cuisine.....interesting combinations.

Magically delicious!

By ant c |

Always consistently delicious, fresh tasting and quick delivery! The Goan Fish Feast is A-MAY-ZING! Really good food. Get the garlic naan, too!

Whats Not To Like?

By MakatiMaan |

Drawn in by the industrial feel and the number of Indian nationals looking satisfied by their surroundings I was not deceived. This is one of those make your own dinner places but the choice of dishes is wonderful, the service friendly and the value great. As the Brits say, Whats Not to like?

New York foodie

By srirupa g |

Very good take on contemporary Indian food. Spicy, tangy & delicious items on the menu. Varieties of Kathi Rolls must try. It's a chipotle style Indian kitchen. Highly recommended.

Well worth a visit

By Lou |

Visited Indikitch 3 times during our weeks stay in New York. Food was freshly cooked as you wait. Well worth a visit and good price

Great for lunch

By Michael L |

Great lunch and great staff. Simple Indian food well served, but don't expect the full Indian British experience!

Indian Chipotle!

By Divya k |

Great concept! Good place to get your Indian food fix for under 10$. The entrees are semi-pre-cooked, but some of the spices are added later to complete the meal. I had the Biriyani bowl with paneer which was alright. My husband had the Goan fish curry combo which is a must try!! Didn't care much for the salads like a different reviewer mentioned. The Indian Roadside tea was impressive as well. The menu is a wee bit confusing for a new comer. So, make sure you ask questions to get what you want!

Best Indian food we've ever had

By True N |

An office mate recommended Indikitch and I've been so addicted since I first came that I have to go one hour out of my way to come here at least once a week. I had my daughter and son-in-law visit from Canada and they, too, rave about the food as the best Indian food they've ever tasted in their life. Collectively, we've tried about 5 dish combinations and every single one is awesome. They hope Indikitch would someday make it to Canada. Try the pink lemonade, which is out of this world. With the quality of the food, we think it is underpriced at about $11 before drinks. The portion is big. I consume one order as two or three meals.

Convenience, location and quality - will visit often

By RZ-23 |

Amazing quality and flavor for fast food -- Indian fast food!!! Similar to Chipotle, you order your food and walk along a counter top as your food is being cooked/assembled. You get a bowl with numerous options (check out their menu online) and can choose the amount of spiciness you want, from not spicy up to 3 "chilis" of spiciness. I like spicy food and chose "2 chilis" and thought it was spicy, just the way I like it, but if it was any spicier, it would've been too much for me. A coworker ordered his food at "3 chilis" of spiciness and said it was hardly spicy to him. He is used to extremely spicy Indian food though. I liked it so much that I went back again within a week. The first time I went I got the "Feast" with pork vindaloo and the second time I got Biryani with chicken tikka. Both were excellent. Madison Square Park is a block away and is the perfect place to enjoy your Indikitch food if the weather is nice. Inside the restaurant, there are a dozen or so small tables but the atmosphere is a bit industrial and sterile.

We enjoyed it!

By George B |

We ate here two out of three nights for no other reason than we just enjoyed the food! We ate here the first night because it was late and we were pressed fo time and although we could have eaten at several other places we chose to go back because we knew it would be good.

LOVE this food!!

By drapp4 |

I can't say I am the most knowledgeable about Indian food but I have eaten at 4 different full-service Indian restaurants so have something to compare against. I am getting hungry writing this review because I am remembering how much I loved the salad I got with chicken tikka - yum! This is quick service (like Chipotle, you go down the line and tell them what your choices are) and soo good. The feast meal is about $11.

Tasty convenience

By marta437 |

We had lunch and were pleasantly surprised. It's a contemporary/fast food setting with a lot of seating space. The menu is varied and tasty. The first thing they ask is how hot (spicy) you want your food, at pick-up you can choose chutneys and tasty lemonades or a mango drink, they also sell extra massala bread. It's not an Indian restaurant, but it's a great fast food choice if you are out for that kind of food.

good casual lunch- average prices

By motherJo |

very good indian food- think chipotle but not mexican= this is casual good for a light lunch you pick what you want so you have more control-pick your meat or vegetarian choices etc. they have ROTI also or I prefer a bowel

A great break from burgers and pizza

By Simon T |

Deep at Columbus circle As a Brit and coming from an Asian background I know a bit about Indian food, Deep doesn’t disappoint Indian food fast food style you have Fantastic choice to build your meal, we had a chicken Tika Masala at the heat strength of your choice add a salad (I had beetroot) add a rice I went with the Saffron Add lentil dish I risked the chick pea, our choice of Nan bread we went with garlic you can top it up with samosa for extra two sodas all for $31 and it was delicious! Loads of vegetarian choice too!

Great Indian fast food!

By Toni 305 |

My brother told me he'd be taking me to the Chipotle of Indian Food, only better. He was right. When we walked in, the line was to the door. However, it moved very fast. Servers were very friendly and food was delicious. What a bargain for $10.00. I ordered the Pulled Pork Feast, Dal, Carrot Salad & Garlic Naan. Delicious. I hope they open in Miami!

Excellent Indian food

By Kalyan A |

Visited this place as per recommendation from one of my friends. With a fast food type of setup, the queue also moves fast and you get delicious food as well. I tried the chicken feast meal with Naan. Initially when I saw the quantity I had my doubts if it would be enough but I was wrong. You feel satisfied and a longing to have more from here at the end of the meal

Indian Chipotle

By Jaybar5 |

The place is a bit modern in decor but overall a great concept of fast food Indian food. It reminds me of Chipotle in terms picking the items in your dish and having it cooked in front of you. The naan bread is delicious and the paneer was also great although their level 4 spicy was not really spicy - the samosas were delicious. Although it is a bit expensive for fast food it was OK and very filling. Happy with coming here and trying something new. My friend has the chicken tikka and soaked up the last drop of sauce with her bread - so verdict is if you want good, fresh Indian food quickly this is a great choice.

MUSHROOM DOSA..

By priyam g |

I wish I could give this place a few more stars! Brilliant concept! They serve Indian food... but umm..Chipotle or Subway style. I had a Dosa with Mushroom curry. It was awesome! They wrap the mushroom in a dosa, like a Taco. Its a very non messy style of eating Indian Food. You can choose your toppings and chutneys that will go into the dish. Also had the Chicken Biryani, which was very good too. The potion is smallish, well it was for me... but probably because I was famished. Its not too expensive. Self Service.

Authentic

By Kiwi110610 |

This was the first time visiting this place and honestly I didn't have high hope but wow was I wrong! I had the feat with chicken Tikka and my husband, who is an Indian food novice, had the Kati rolls. We also got samosas, original naan, Mango Lassi and hot traditional Chai tea as well as mullwagatwiny (sorry misspelled for sure) soup. EVERYTHING was amazing with the proper balance of flavors and textures. The price was also spot on with everything costing $45. The counter people were also all so very nice and patient while explaining to my husband what he different meats and sauces were. I would definitely go here again!

Chipotle style Indian food...amazing taste

By TP2010 |

It's not complicated and the food was delicious...so we're the drinks...you can mic n match stuff with your choice of spice level. Cool of with ginger sugar cane juice and blood orange lemonade with fresh mint...Wow

Great concept, even better execution

By arus116 |

I've always felt like Indian "fast food" has huge potential, and was not disappointed with the delicious workings of IndiKitch. The concept is great - kinda like Chipotle but with Indian food. 1) Pick the type of vehicle you want: The Feast bowl, Biryani, Kati rolls, Live Fire Salad, or Dosa Taco 2) Pick you main: Chicken Tikka, Pulled Pork Vindaloo, Goan Fish, Paneer Tikka, Mushroom Kadai, or Saag Paneer The type of meal you select also determines extras such as salad, rice, naan, daal etc. I had the feast with Paneer Tikka as my main- because why not go all out? I got the Saffron Rice, Chickpea Dal, Beet Kachumbar, and last but not least, the garlic Naan. Feast is an obviously appropriate name because there so much food. I wasn't able to finish but popped on a convenient cover for the container and went off on my merry way. The service is quick, the food is delicious, the space is bright and clean, and the concept is so so good, I'm praying this becomes a huge chain that makes its way to Toronto.

Limited Choice. Unlimited Flavor

By Ravi W |

The menu is very basic. The decor simple. It's the flavor of the food which makes the difference. We tried the paneer sagwala , chicken tikka masala , and paneer tikka masala. With the garlic naan , and the samosas. Absolutely fantastic taste. Highly recommended.

Decent (fast) indian food

By Amy C |

I love the fact that you can build your own plate. The food is ok, but you can definitely find better options for the same price.

good Indian food in Manhattan

By Qwelt |

Four of us went to this place for lunch on 30/7/17 and we were surprised by the decor of the place. It was not like any cramped Indian restaurants with tables packed fully. The place was quite big and had some tables in the mezzanine floor. We ordered 3 veg meals and 1 chicken and onion rings. The food was excellent. By far, the best Indian food we had in this tour of New York. The place was not crowded and was quite relaxing. Will definitely go next time I travel to Manhattan area.,

Great food for the price

By Tim_Jo1 |

We stumbled on this restaurant, and figured the food must be good because of the long lunch line. An employee came by and explained the simple menu -- basically six main dishes and sides, all less than $10. I had the Goan fish with saffron rice and carrot salad and found it really tasty. My wife had spicy pork, and my daughter had a vegetarian paneer dish. We were all delighted by the meals and felt we'd stumbled onto a really great place.

really tasty and convenient

By waakatk |

walked past on way to flatiron and many stores were closed. called in, was clean had bathrooms, and the food was good. got a choice of 3 rices, 3 sauces, a meat, a flavour and a bread.

Stay away

By Apurva M |

Masala dosa without Sambhar. I am an Indian and have eaten at hundreds of Indian restaurants in India and the USA. This is by far the worst thing I have seen. The chutney cup was half full. When requested for additional chutney, they wanted to charge. I am very unhappy and will not return.

Not Authentic Indian- But very Tasty Food

By Soumya S |

I was very hungry and passed by this restaurant and wanted to have quick bites on rolls. Ordered for chicken tikka roll medium spicy. They were very quick and the dish was super delicious. Not purely Indian but they use all the Indian masala and prepare amazing rolls!

Near Madison Square Park, Flatiron Building and Eataly

By nycmom22 |

About one door west of Eataly on W 23rd and about 1 1/2 blocks west of the original shake shack in the park....modelled after ShopHouse, the Asian spinoff of Chipotle which sadly isn't yet in NY. You pick your preparation (e.g. salad or rice) and your protein (many veggie choices). My chicken tikka on salad was $9 flat. right level of spice for me but they will spice it up upon request. Seating indoors but many take it to go. I will return.

Good food, concept, and price

By Tag1126 |

Lunched here because my sister recommended it for a quick lunch together, and it was near where she was headed for an appointment afterward. The line was a little long but moved efficiently. I do not have Indian food often and was unsure what to order, but the employee taking orders was pretty helpful. I had pork, saffron rice, original sauce, and carrot salad. All had good flavor, and the feast was priced reasonably ($10). I would try it again for a quick and tasty lunch when in the area.

Fast Take Out Indian

By JT88888888 |

Many vegetarian nice selections as well as soup and meat curries with rice or nan breads.Long lines during lunch hour , go early to avoid line and take time to select the items ,its prepared in your presence separated by a low glass wall . Fast service.

Proud to see a high-quality Indian restaurant concept that's so different

By Srikant S |

I like it so much that I visit Indikitch almost once a week. Have tried the Biryani meal as well as the Feast. I haven't yet felt like having the Dosa mains; somehow, the idea of paneer inside dosa doesn't gel with me. The sugar cane juice is awesome too. Given that this place is run by the folks from Deep Foods( whose frozen items form the backbone of bachelor life in NY for me), the quality is not surprising. Keep up the good work, guys! Proud to see this work so well

Comfort food in NYC!

By Srikant S |

IndiKitch, being close to my NYC office, has now become the go-to place for comfort food. Whether it's the Biryani meal or Feast, you leave the place feeling good

Great Indian Fast Food

By JimBob2012 |

Stopped in Saturday, mid afternoon. Pretty crowded but moved fast. Chicken Tikka and biryani pretty good, naan was excellent quite pleased with the experience. We will go back.

Amazing concept with awesome food

By Nmasher |

I really loved this concept and it was really fresh and delicious. Indian fast food at its best. So flavourful and tasty had to come back for more. Being veg I had the dosa and paneer tikka combo. Was so yummmmmmmy. Gosh. The chaat was simply divine and so were the crispy samosas. The salad was fresh and tasty. Overall a must must visit in nyc. Careful its usually v busy at meal times but service is quick.

Average

By Anil K |

Average food. Looks like the food was prepared long time before. Was told to eat minimum 30$ each person (strange), may be some prejudice , typical indian approach,: Food not worth the money. we spend 50$ each for some below average food

Fast casual Indian food

By USCKaboom |

Fast casual places mimicking a chipotle style service are all the rage. I like Indikitch. This last time I had the dosa. You get three and it’s a large portion. But I prefer the dosas thin and crispy. These were more like pancakes. Still quite enjoyable. But I’d stick to a salad or bowl next time. Inexpensive and good for a quick flavorful bite in flatiron.

Authentic!

By Williams86 |

If you like quality Indian food, check out IndiKitch for delicious food. The staff is super friendly even when they are very busy. Go before 12:15 or after 2:00 if you can. Otherwise, make sure you bring your phone! You'll need it!

Surprise Indian Gem on 23rd Street

By BrooklynOdalisque |

If you have a yen for Indian food, as I do, you understand the ongoing search for it in every neighborhood. So I passed by this restaurant, noting it, and then returned with a friend a few minutes later, for lunch. How could we resist, two fashionistas who love INDIAN. Had to try it. Glad we did. A new and tasty place for some fiery and spicy food. I found the menu a bit confusing, but the staff was friendly and helpful; the only problem ultimately being that everything looked fantastic, and I WANTED IT ALL. BUT that just means I will go back SOON. The seating was comfortable, and they allowed us to linger over our drinks, even after we had obviously finished our meal. It had an urban industrial vibe for a visual, was not too noisy even when the lunch hour was in full swing, and the staff was attentive to the bussing and cleaning up of the tables. I am not sure how long its been around, but I hope it stays a long time. I'll be back.

Bring back the Goan fish option!

By dgfvsxz |

Eaten here many times for lunch and have done take out, as well as delivery. Very popular place, and during the lunch hour there is a line reaching the door, which is why I have often avoided those times. My favorite protein option was the Goan fish, which was in a spicy curry sauce with coconut milk. I've had it with all the meal options: feast, salad, over rice. But they've taken it off the menu. Other options are good, such as the paneer saag, and mushrooms. Sometimes I'll just get a samosa chaat and a mango lassi. Food is assembled to order -- not necessarily cooked to order, since what makes this place fast service is that a lot of it is precooked then warmed up and assembled for you. All in all, good, reliable, tasty Indian food. Just bring back the Goan fish!

Fresh and Fab!

By NFPwife |

We went to IndiKitch three times on a recent trip to NYC and I will be back every time I'm in the city. I had the Chicken Tikka feast each time with classic dal. The salad options left me a little cold. I hate cucumbers and don't care for carrots, so beets it was. This was the best beet preparation I've had. Not too sweet, not too "earthy," nice balance. The staff are warm and personable. I know many compare IndiKitch to Chipotle, but here's where the comparison doesn't hold up- Indikitch is pretty quiet and low key. Each time we were there we could hear and be heard when ordering. We could also have a conversation with our "18 inch voices" and not have to compete with background music and noise. Each time we left the street seemed noisy; when we leave Chipotle, the street seems quiet. Noise wears on me, so I really appreciate that.

Indian food by Times Square

By SSC2000 |

Fresh, tasty and reasonably priced Indian food. The whole set up / concept is idiot proof and takes a leaf out of the McDonalds book ! You can sit down to eat or carry out. It's on my To Do list on every trip to Manhatten.

Really good

By FizzyFlamingo |

Can't fault this place, fast service, good value meal for it's location, really yummy curry (and a lot of it) with nice homemade lassi and friendly staff :)

Awesome Indian Food in NY

By Meenakshi_agg |

When you are away from home (your country), its best place to have authentic indian punjabi food and you can choose the level of spices you want which makes it perfect as a wholesome meal. I could try only once but I would have loved to eat there more.

Interesting Fast Food Concept in Indian Cuisine

By Jitendra M |

Just stumbled upon this place with a friend, seems like it opened very recently. The first thought that came to mind was : Chipotle or PotBelly in Indian Cuisine. You pick your mains, you pick sides, stand in a line (long winding at Lunch time when we visited) and then pick up your food in a plate with squares for veg, salad, sides. Nice upmarket feel decor, very resonant with the Flatiron area, and a very mixed crowd eating there when we went. Only grouse : Couple of counters where items are prepared on the flames there and then are in the Main Food Assembley Chain, and they have to be done individually for each customer. Kind of slows the whole line. Other than that, nice tasty Indian cuisine, nice fresh menu cards and clean website. Could get to a franchise/ scalable model if growth is planned and bottlenecks addressed.

Great concept and delicious food

By Tepros |

We were very hungry after a long flight without food, we spotted this restaurant just when we arrived in midtown NY. The concept of creating your own meal with about 4 choices in 4 categories was great. I liked the pork curry and the naan bread. We ended up with a full tubby at a low price :)

SO GOOD

By Erica Nicole |

Really fast service and the food was excellent. Really, really, really good. Very friendly staff, too.

Good surprise

By charlieo952 |

Looked closed from the outside until we saw someone leaving. Order food down stairs, verbally or on machine . Quantity and quality very good.

Great "fast food" Indian

By Doug V |

I ate here a number of time while I visiting NY. I like the fish (Goan). They offer Indian beer and other Indian drinks (along with regular soda.)

Excellent food... but excuse the staff

By MarcLnyc |

I’m a regular. Really great smartly prepared Indian food, but the staff tends to focus speed vs courtesy. Get beyond that and it’s a great fast dining option.

Excellent meal

By JenniferS62 |

Staff suggested the chicken meal, which was tasty. Fast service and great value. Garlic naan was so good!

Great Indian Food in Manhattan NY - Indian Shake Shack.

By Shantanu_Dhamija |

It was an accidental discovery. Walking from Union square to Madison square, next to Eately, we found an Indian fast food joint with long queue of mostly non Indians. Chefs were non Indians but taste of food was authentic Indian. Even from Indian standard mild was spicy. Economical, great taste and all freshly cooked in front of you. Much better than majority of mushrooming Indian food restaurants in Manhattan.

Tasty Indian restaurant in NY

By Im_GPS |

Noticed this Indian food point while walking on the streets of NY and got into this to grab some food. Found varieties of Kati rolls and ordered a few Veggie stuff and they were really good. I recommend this place.

Tasty Indian Food - Fast

By Sanjivj J |

I was in NYC for business and came across this place. The name Indikitch was catchy so went in. Ordered "the feast" with rice, daal, chicken tikka masala, chopped salad and a garlic naan. The whole meal was under 10 bucks. The chicken tikka masala was very authentic and deliciousand but the naan was luke warm. I didn't try any drinks but saw them selling mango lassi. Overall it was a great place to get some authentic Indian food- fast. Would go again.

Indian Fast Food

By Jarb46 |

This is like an Indian Chipotle. It has limited variety, as can be expected, but all is fresh and good. It gives good value for the amount paid. The decor cold be more cheerful.

Wow!

By HipHop_29 |

Amazing Indian food. Far above expectations. Looks like they don't even have Indian chefs but still the flavor was pure authentic Indian. Just need to increase portion size.

Plain and simple: delicious Indian fast food.

By ugmcdee |

The food is really good. The dead giveaway would be that when you go in, more times than not, you’ll see Indian people eating there. It gets busy and there will be an occasion where you’ll need for them to reheat but overall Deep (still Indikitch to yours truly) is reliably good food.

Yummy food... Crowded though

By avk |

Loved the food and the flavor. I did not expect the food to be 'Indian' spicy in a mid-town restaurant but truly loved it. Easily accessible with the PATH station near by

Yummy mushroom Kati roll!

By Mandeep H |

This is a must place for me! I love the mushroom Kati roll, the lemonade drink, their salads and soups are yummy!

Cool Indian fast food!

By BananaLu |

I loved the concept of making your own menu step by step (select rice / dosa / salad, then select the meat / vegetables you want inside, select the spice level, and then add a snack and / or a drink...). The restaurant proposes gluten free and vegetarian options, so everybody should be happy. For people who regularly eat dosas, the ones sold here are like the dosas people eat at home, they are smaller and softer than what you can get in a regular South Indian restaurant (no huge crispy dosas available here) and they are presented like tacos folded in two with the side dish inside. Each menu is relatively big and I had trouble to finish mine! I liked the paneer tikka dosa menu and the mango lassi (very refreshing)! Chutneys were not great, but it is rare to find good chutneys outside India. Samosas were correct too! Do not expect to have the best Indian meal of your life at IndiKitch, but if you need something quick, cheap and Indian (you cannot always enjoy sandwiches and burgers...) then this is a good place! The service is not great, but as this is a fast-food kind of place, you will not interact much with the staff.

Food was average

By Kunj P |

Hello friends I visited with my family , food quality was average , it’s not proper restaturent ,all food already cooked in morning , price wise not costly , samosa was good Chicken Kathi roll also , we are pure vegetarian , people are talking about that

A must eat place especially if you are pressed for time

We tried this for dinner. It is a great place for either someone who is starting out on Indian food or savy in the food. It offers a nice selection of a a limited sampling of the food which is extremely rich in spice and flavor. The staff is exceptional and quite friendly. I would love to go back when i visit NY.

Delicious food

Service wasn't good but the food was

By d0ndequiera |

I have tried a few Indian fast food places and always liked them. They never seem to catch on properly though. I hope Indikitch sticks around because it's pretty good. It's counter service, but the food seems to be made fresh and the options are good. There is a good range considering that it is fast food. We were FULL when we finished even though we only had kati rolls. Flavours were nice and strong. Affordable - especially for NYC. One note about service - the staff seemed TOTALLY out of it and kind of bored.

Delicious food. Loud clanging pots & dirty tables!

By JimNYC |

I’ve eaten here countless times and I really do enjoy the food. I’m usually in a rush during the day & have little time for a leisure lunch. So, places like this provide a quick & healthy option for meals on the run. I feel like I’m nurturing my body with quality food here, unlike fast food places like McDonald’s or Burger King, etc. So, for a higher caliber, fast & nutritious meal, I come to places like this instead. I usually get their Dosa with pulled pork. I used to get their fish Dosa. However, sadly the fish is no longer available on the menu. I’ve always enjoyed the food here & I’ve only got praise for the food quality & taste. The staff is usually quite loud & talking to each other behind the counter, which makes dining in the restaurant a little excessive with noise. There’s a lot of metal pots in the kitchen & the staff unnecessarily bangs the lids loudly while closing the lids onto the metal pots that contain the food. This adds another discomfort to dining in here. Today every table had food crumbs all over them. I saw the staff come out to clean the floor & condiment counter, yet no one ever came to clean the tables during my entire 20 minutes here. The tables remained quite dirty. I’ll include a pic of the table I chose, which was the least dirty table that I could find. The staff was congregated behind the counter & chatting, when they could’ve easily took less than one minute to wipe down the tables. I know the customer leaves the dirt & it’s irresponsible customers who leave tables messy for the next guest. But it’s really not our place to clean the table after a dirty guest. Because of the above mentioned reasons, I typically, order my food to go here & take my meal across the street to beautiful Madison Square Park. Today it was just entirely too humid outside though! While here for 20 minutes today I saw a lot of people come in & see the dirty tables & leave without ordering. I’ll be back. But, hopefully I won’t have to dine in again because of the excessive loud noise & dirty tables. 5 stars for the food & location. 1 star for everything else.

Awesome food and good attentions

Legit Indian Food and so good

By S&C Travels |

I went to IndiKitch with my stepfather who formerly lived in Mumbai India for 5 years. He stated that all of it tasted authentic. I wouldn't of known the difference. All I know is that I like Indian Food and this was really good Indian Food. Would love to go back one day.

Just about worth it

By Issac J |

The service is quick and efficient. The ambience as good as any you will get for the price. And they have genuinely tried to make an effort to make good Indian food. What's unique is that they have options where you can customise your meal with rice, breads or salads. Where it doesn't do justice is the food itself. But you have to bear in mind, am an Indian by birth and hence holding it to higher standards than usual. I went for a Biryani on my first visit and though it wasn't quite there, it definitely was a lot better than some of the other places Indian places NY is used to.

Loved Indian Food here while being in New York!!!

By Pal0009 |

What a yummy Paneer tikka, simply amazing. I was visiting New York for few days over the Christmas and New year. Since I am a vegetarian and love Indian food, my friend recommended this place. OMG I loved it. It was like the best paneer tikka I have ever had. I certainly went there again and had it twice. If you love Indian food, must visit Indikitch and have the feast here. Even dal makhanai was super yummy. I am definitely going back whenever I visit NY again.

Love the concept

By Rafiq J |

I love the concept of an Indian food version of the Chipotle restaurants. Since I saw South Asians eating there, I know this place has authentic Indian food. The food is great, yet the blood orange lemon is too sweet and my fish crêpes were a little too salty. However, I didn't expect a big bag of onion fritters. Despite the slight shortcomings, this place is worth checking out.

Top Notch Chow!!

By Dfwchristopher |

A friend suggested this place, they described it as the Chipotle of Indian Food. It was excellent. The staff was friendly, the food was spicy & hot. The garlic naan was off the hook. A great suggestion, and very economical!!!! They really take pride in the restaurant- Lisa Jones was the bomb!

Good Indian food in foreign land

By shahvaishali |

Again primarily while writing I am keeping in mind that when Indians travel to NYC, this should help them. On our way walking to the Central Park we came across this plush & nice looking restaurant & decided to walk in for lunch. Indeed it was a wise decision as this place is fabulous. For around $10 you get a set veg meal with a choice of your main course, naan ( regular or whole wheat to select from), salad ( there are 3 salads to choose from ), rice & dal ( rice & dal have a variety to choose from too). I was super impressed with this set up, besides it was quick food. So between the two of us, we ordered 1 additional wheat naan & that was enough lunch for 2 of us. The naan is heavy but could have been thinner. Not only veg but the main course can be chosen from chicken, pork & Goan fish for the non vegetarians. At the end, no Indian meal is complete without after mint & again they had 3 diff after mints to choose from the dispensing machine. Awesome place & worth going to. It's relatively close by to Central Park & in NYC walking a few blocks is quiet normal.

real indian food

By mf2006 |

I beleive this is a great place to enjoy real Indian kitchen. It is self service fast food style. The menu is explanatory and you can choose your own combination. Very testy, very well cooked. The staff kind.

Really tasty Indian food and great value

By Poorpuss |

Really great place to go if you want genuine Indian food in NYC that's not going to break the bank it was so good we went back on our last day

Amazing fresh Indian food, fast!!

By WanderingOnion |

Despite the limited menu, I had a hard time making a decision because everything looked amazing! While sides are prepared for quick serving, each main dish is cooked up fresh with your own desired degree of spice. The main dishes and sides are bursting with all the spice and flavor standard to Indian cooking. Can’t wait to go back!

Taste of Home

By stanlion2014 |

Always difficult to find authentic tasting indian food but Indikitch gets it! The spice mixtures (masalas) are mouthwateringly irresistible. The fast food nature of the place and the ability to combine your food in interesting ways makes this an ideal place to grab a quick bite. We thought they could use a little less oil or something: we were unable to eat the rest of the day...! we'd had chicken biriyani and a veg kathi roll.

Nice flavours

By Janice G |

Nice flavours, had the chicken - even though there are long lines, they move quickly. Would go there again.

It's like an Indian food version of Chipolte, only better!!

By YBrandey |

My friends and I were in New York City for the day and we wanted to try an India restaurant while we were there. One of my friends actually cooks excellent Indian/Pakistani food, so I was a bit leary of trying it. After all, he makes Indian food for me exactly the way I like it. The restaurant was very busy while we were there, but the line moved quickly. The food was amazing! Unbelievably, it was better than my friend's cooking. We also met one of the owners and the chef. They made us feel welcome and chatted with us at our table for several minutes. I hope they open a restaurant somewhere in either Baltimore or Washington, D.C. In any case, when we go back to New York, this restaurant will definitely be one of our to-go-to restaurants.

Good food but limited options

By Ana A |

We didnt get how their menu works very easy, when we did we realize there were not so many options, at the end we all ended up having the same CHicken tikka masala.

Yummy

By Abhishek N |

"Cooking a nice meal needs skill, patience, perfect mix of spices and maybe a personal touch.. An assembly line model might produce goods or products but not a memorable meal.." And now throw the above statement in a garbage, smash it with your feet if you want and enter....Indikitch!!! An 'assembly line' restaurant if I may call that, serving amazing Indian( North Indian) food. It has a 'limited' menu by other restaurant standards and you can pick only either of the following :- ...Wrap ....Meal ....Big Meal ( I dont rem the exact words ;) Select your option ( veg/ chicken etc), choose the spicy level and wait as your meal travels along the belts. The 'chefs' stand behind the belt and they 'cook' right in front of you. The end product , against all odds is really fantastic! Nice mix of spices and very flavourful. I went there twice and had Paneer Wrap on both the occasions. The 'line' delivered the exact product, every single time :) Try it out, you won't be disappointed. Indikitch packs more punch than what it appears.. Next time, I'll try the Biriyani which looked like the most popular dish of the house. Throw that

Very tasty

By Esme |

So this is not what you would call an authentic indian restaurant but its really tasty and its efficient when it comes to getting your lunch during the lunch rush. I love the fact they have plenty of Vegetarian options and also have whole wheat naan bread.

My savior for 17 nights

By CPhere |

I was on a business trip to New York and had food here almost daily, as it was close to where i stayed. Before i discovered this place, having food was a big problem - what to eat, where to eat. The food served here is authentic Indian home-style food. Indian restaurant food is usually oily and heavy - not so at indikitch. Its a healthier alternative Indian food. I really liked it, and i wish they bring the quick serving, healthy, home style Indian food concept back to India as well. We dont have an equivalent here!!

No more fish on the menu...

By MissJessicaD |

Spacious location, service was quick but they took off their fish option... which left me with only grilled mushroom and paneer. The sauce of the chicken tikka was incredibly delicious though. P.S. the spicy is truly spicy, so make sure you have some water. Live Fire Feast Grilled mushroom ($11.76)- Portions are alright, it comes with 4 sides which were all decent. The garlic naan was my favorite and tastes really great if you dip it into some sauce. However, my mushroom didn't really taste like much, just spicy.

Indian food served chipolte style- fresh and great value!!

By Tavares242 |

I got to say this place was a great find for quick and fresh Indian food served in the same manner like Chipolte and all for under $10. Great selection for entrees and sides. The nan bread is great. I recommend this place highly.

Delicious food for a good price!

By Sharon L |

On our first night in NY we decided to just grab a quick bite somewhere and ended up at Indikitch. The place looks clean and service is fast and friendly. We come in late but the menu was still available!. We asked for Kati rolls with pulled pork and for Tiki Masala decide to have that with rice, cucumber tomato salad, regular beans and garlic naan. The food was not only delicious but more than enough. We could not finish all! On our last evening we took out Tiki masala with Samosas and had a great dinner at our hotel. Have eaten Indian on many occasions but believe me you cannot go wrong with eating here. The food is really well made and I wished they had this in Fort Lauderdale!

Enjoyable Indian style food

By Vkohnke |

First, this review is of the one at 940 8th Ave which must be so new that it isn't in TripAdvisor. While visiting NYC we stumbled upon this place and ended up eating there twice. I think the reference to this being an Indian version of Chipotle is appropriate. I would highly recommend this to anyone who enjoys flavorful and inexpensive food with an Indian twist. The first thing that struck me when I walked in was the almost overwhelming onslaught of spices. While most Indian restaurants smell of spices, the first time I walked in it was like the first time I threw a katori of spices into hot oil while making Rajmah (Indian style kidney beans). The spices accosted me to the point it caused me to cough. The menu, while extraordinarily simple, left me a bit confused until I grasped its simplicity. Feast (a basic meal), Biryani (named after a dish that originated in south India and best known with regards to Hyderabad but bearing only a passing resemblance), Dosa (Named after a south Indian dish but again bearing only a passing resemblance), and Live Fire salad (which I did not try). All dishes allow you to choose a “main” between Chicken Tikka, Pulled Pork Vindaloo, Goan Fish, Paneer Tikka, Mushroom Kadai, and Saag Paneer. The ingredients and sauces are pre-measured and cooked but are combined, and additional spices added, depending on how spicy you like your food, at the time of ordering (which is what causes the onslaught of spices when you arrive). Both visits I ordered the Chicken Tikka feast but was able to try the Biryani and Dosa because they were ordered by my kids and my wife’s cousin who was also visiting NYC from India (my wife is originally from India as well). While I can handle spicy food I had the Chicken Tikka feast “mild” and found it to be quite adequate. One of my daughters had it spicy and found it to be a little too hot for her taste but altogether enjoyable, my wife found the spicy Chicken Tikka to be just right. My other daughter had a Saag Paneer Dosa and we were surprised to be served what looked more like soft tacos, Dosas are typically 1 to 1.5 feet in diameter, but they were made with what appeared to be a relatively traditional batter and while a bit thicker than a normal Dosa were quite enjoyable, the chutney was quite good. I would strongly recommend that you eat the Dosa at the restaurant or, at the very least, not over your keyboard. During our second visit I was able to try the Biryani which was, as mentioned before, only vaguely similar to the Biryani I have eaten in Hyderabad. Rather than being cooked together it is simply the “main” served over the rice. That said it was quite good and much easier to eat than the Feast which really needs to be eaten sitting down. All in all I highly recommend this restaurant and hope it becomes a chain and they open some in around where I live and work. The price point of just over $10 and the quality of the food make this place a winner.

The best Indian food out there!

By iExplore100 |

Me and my sister visited New York last year. We are both vegetarians and picky when it comes to food. IndiKitch saved our lives while we were out there as we struggle to find food that filled our taste buds and bellies. The service was incredibly quick, staff were extremely pleasant and the food was fantastic! Visited this place 5 days in a row after the first. I'm Indian myself and have always visited many Indian restaurants (in my home town London, India & wherever I go abroad) but IndiKitch provides the most tastiest food ever! Would 100% recommend this food to anyone and everyone!

Great Ruby!!

By DeanoW70 |

Happened upon here by chance as we were having a beer over the road. As a devoted curry lover I always end up disappointed when we eat a curry whilst on holiday. However this place was great. Really like the idea they have of "building" your own dish. The portion size is good and there was too much to eat. As someone who eats a decent phall I asked them to make it spicy and the made a good go of it. I thought that it was excellent value for money and would definitely recommend it to anyone who enjoys a decent curry.

Good Price, Good Food

By JPKhambatta |

We stumbled upon this little eatery by chance. It reminded us of an Indian Chipotle. The manager helpfully explained the menu and how to order. I got the biryani option with paneer tikka. They give you a healthy serving for the price. My husband got the chicken tikka 'feast' option with his choice of sides: classic dal, cucumber salad and garlic naan. We ordered a side of saag paneer which was excellent as well. My husband asked for mild spice, but I couldn't taste any different between his and my zero spice. Would definitely recommend for a low cost, fast food Indian option.

Quick Indian food done very well!

By Liz |

I had a craving for Indian food but didn’t want to spend a fortune or a ton of time at a full service restaurant, and Indikitch turned out to be a lifesaver! The concept is simple: pick a base (biryani rice, salad, wrap), pick a main (chicken tikka, vindaloo pork, mushrooms or paneer) and then pick a spice level. I had a chicken tikka salad with beet and cucumber salad and it was delicious and a TON of food for about $10. It could’ve easily been two meals. The food was hot and fresh and service was fast and friendly. If I lived nearby this would easily be a weekly takeout option.

Like an Indian Chipotle but better

By USCKaboom |

I love this place. Similar to Chiptole in style. Very tasty Indian food. I usually get the salad with some sort of topping. This time I got the mushrooms on top which were great. I also got a side of the lentil dal, very good as well. Great for a fun fast casual lunch.

Awesome Indian Fast Food

Quick meal gone bad

By nottsguy84 |

I was in New York on business recently and just really wanted a curry. I'd passed this place a couple of times and thought I'd try it! Massive mistake! The food is awful, I know that New York isn't know for it curry but I'd have thought it would be better than this. Almost as bad as the food were the staff, standing around shouting abuse at each other and very snappy with customers.
