Just stumbled upon this resto while looking for a place to eat. We will not be back. The baked clams were horribly greasy and had a peculiar flavor that possibly indicated that they were off or not fresh. I never finished the dish and didn’t get sick. The eggplant rollatini were good and the sauce quite tasty...until I found a long black hair embedded in the melted cheese (I have short blonde hair!). Service was ok but not overly friendly or efficient. They really need to review standard food prep procedures.

Best sicillian pizza ever! Get the corner slice! Also the Chicken Parmigiana is delicious!

I have eaten a LOT of veal parm and cannoli in my lifetime and I'd put this in the top 10%. What would make it better is leaving the parm on the table so you can add more yourself. You can see prices online, but two veal parms, two Cokes, and two cannoli were about $75 including a 20% tip. The bread and garlic knots were excellent, too. It would've been nice if the butter hadn't been so cold, though. The real reason I knocked off a star, though, was that the waiter didn't come back for a really long time.

4 of us ordered a white and a cheese pizza plus 2 pasta dishes ! The food was ready when we arrived for pickup & 10 minutes later it was still hot & yummy back in our apartment ! Great food, fairly priced ! Thanks !

Great spot for take away pizza or dine in traditional fare. Like this neighborhood spot, for Italian and American food when I travel to NYC.

They make good garlic knots and 3 cheese pizza. Always ice cold beer. Local joint that knows what it is and does it well.

First time in today to pick up a slice and I will most definitely be back! Very nice employees, super clean establishment, excellent food and service! What else do you need? Great pricing and I wish I would have bought another slice as it was that good!

If you are looking for a place to walk in and get a decent meal, Delizia is one. The pizza is really good, and the service is fast and friendly. I am a repeat customer when in the area.

I have eaten here since 1985. This is a neighborhood place with a limited menu, but everything always tastes great! If you want a menu with 100 items, go to a Greek Diner. Their veal and chicken dishes are consistently good. I especially like their chicken francese and their veal piccata dishes. You can buy wine from a limited menu, but the house wine by the carafe is usually good enough. I first had garlic knots here before they were trendy. You eat in the dining room in the back and swear that you're in a little place in Siena, Italy. I always enjoy Delizias. I wish they were open for lunch.

This is a local joint which I continue to patronize; I used to live around the corner on 74th street but have since moved to East End Ave and 80th. The walk is longer but the food is just as good. Most of the time I get a chicken roll, which is heated and fresh, and which comes with a little cup of red sauce. This is one of my all time favorite dishes. They also deliver and the pizza, while a bit heavier than my taste these days, is hot and fine. Very worthwhile pizza parlor.

I love this place. The best pizza in mid Manhattan. I am hooked to the chicken parm. The chicken rolls also are to dye for. I'm telling you nothing you buy in this place will disappoint you!

Great New York style pizza! One of the last real nyc classic pizza spots, love the grandma slice! And meatball parm hero! I would definitely recommend you come by and get yourself some delicious pizza!

Excellent food and excellent service! Everything that I have eaten there is first rate. The front area is casual dining and the back area is fine dining. Go there is you can.

Very good moderately priced neighborhood Italian spot but nothing to go far out of your way for. Casual dining area in front with more formal back dining area. Good pizza and standard Italian dishes. Garlic knots are very tasty. We go often!

Delizia on 2nd Ave was a nice neighborhood pizza place. We happened upon it out of hunger and it was on our way to Central Park. The service was great and the amount of food you get for the price is outstanding. A large cheese pizza (HUGE) was only $13.50. Lots of locals in the resturant and fun to sit in the window seating area and people watch.

This place is located in Upper-east side of Manhattan. Appearance of the front of the establishment portrays a run-of-mill “pizza joint” which one might find everywhere in New York City. Back of the place, however, houses an elegant dining room, with white table clothes and surrounded by replicas of paintings. The place almost looked very “upscale” New York eateries without being snooty. Bit congested but very pleasant. Acoustic was just fine for intimate conversations. There were four of us for dinner. Wait staff of three headed by a “supervising” person, were personable and extremely attentive. We started with a salad and fried Calamari for the table. Salad was clean, nicely trimmed, and crisp. The dressing was intriguing in that it was Balsamic-based but had a hint of South East Asian which none of us could decipher. Calamari was pretty good, but one would expect something which would be less soggy. For the main meal, three of us ordered the house Veal dish of a sort and the fourth got Sea Bass special. They were all very good. Veal dish had a Piccata-like sauce. Sea Bass, on the other hand, exuded the undefinable flavor of that South East Asia. This was interesting because the establishment was supposed be a “Italian” and an extension of a pizza joint. But, then, it was New York City. We finished the meal with a round of Cappuccino. In summary Ambience: Clean, quiet, comfortable Food: Good-to-very good Bathroom: Clean Service: Most Attentive Value: Very good for Manhattan, New York Summary: We will come back whenever we visit New York City

The staff is really friendly and my lobster ravioli was delicious. Warm calm atmosphere great place to take a date without a lot of distractions.

Delizia is the best pizza and sandwiches on the Upper East Side! Any type of pizza you order is delicious, they have big slices and the menu is excellent as well. There is no better place to stop into if you are hungry and love pizza!

All soups made from scratch I had the lentil which had some diltalini in it. Delish. My husband had the pizza. What can I say. Nothing like NYC pizza. Great place for lunch and I suppose dinner !!

yummy crispy pizza!!! our go to place for late night or after work pizza cravings

On our regular trips to NYC we always make a stop at our favorite Italian restaurant,Delizia. When you're there you are treated like family: friendly service, generous portions, a wide variety of offerings and always the freshest ingredients. We loved the eggplant parmesan and their wine selection offers many surprising choices. Our family has lots of picky eaters but no one every goes away without trying something new and so delicious! This is a must-do when you are in Manhattan. We always make certain our 5,000 mile journey to the Big Apple includes a dinner stop at this cozy spot. Highly recommended!

Meeting our daughter after a day of chores in the city and in need of restful and casual dinner we found Delizia 73 just what we needed. Not crowded on a Monday night we ate in the brick walled back dining room and enjoyed the daily specials, which were very well priced. We complimented our dinner with a modest Amicone wine from Veneto, off the limited wine list - ranging from 25 to 90 USD. Service was friendly and prompt. Topped it off with a cannoli, an average NYC version of this pastry. We did note that pizza is only served up front, not in the rear dining room.

We arrived in New York and this was across from where we stayed. Came here as our airbnb host recommended and we were starving. We decided on the generosa small pizza and can I tell you there was nothing small about this pizza. Flavor was beautiful and the dough was freshly made. Would definitely recommend this place. Reasonable price as well. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Cheap, always friendly and some of the best pizza in New York. And there's room to sit too. Delizia is simply the best.

Visited for a quick lunch, and sat at the front window watching the world hurry by. We LOVED the vodka pizza, smothered in delicious vodka sauce!! YUM! Go get some!!

Go in and find a seat in the front. A cheerful server (there are no more waiters) will take your order and get some good, hot foot out of the kitchen and to your table. Pizza is good and many varieties available. Other choices worth eating and prices fair for the area. Wish it was more comfortable.

Spent some time in NYC visiting my family during the spring, and this pizzeria was outstanding on more than several occasions. Slices are fresh, large, and delicious. My favorite slices personally are the the grandma's slices or the grilled chicken slice although it seemed like you can't go wrong anywhere as my aunt and mother raved about their vegetable slices. They also have good Italian novelties to-go like their Chicken Penne Vodka.Would definitely recommend to anyone on upper east side looking for authentic Italian.

Great steaks, friendly service! Busy and happening place!! Just a few minutes from Courtyard by Marriott hotel.

We were unable to go out to a restaurant when visiting our son because our puppy would not stop barking when we put her in her crate. Our son lives on the Upper East Side and he suggested that we order takeout pizza from Delizia 73. A large pizza was plenty for 3 of us and it was very good! Delivery was prompt also. Only wish that we could have eaten at their restaurant to try different items from the menu.

The food is always good and fresh. The prices moderate. The food is sometimes slow to be prepared but its worth the wait.

We decided to try Delizia after reading the reviews on Trip Advisor, and we're so glad we did. The back room is comfortable and cozy, and the service friendly and efficient. The food was delicious--my husband had veal parm that was freshly prepared, and I had eggplant rollantine. There is a wide selection on the menu, the portions are very generous, and all at reasonable prices. If you are on the upper east side and are looking for a great place to eat, I highly recommend Delizia. We are here quite often, and have had some trouble finding a place that is comfortable, reasonably priced, and serves good food...but I don't think we'll look any further!

We got in late night with my family and the place was busy. We had pizza, chicken parmigiana, chicken marsala with mushrooms and Stromboli. And lemon sorbet for dessert. It was awesome!

Service good; great with kids, basic good pizzeria food with varied pastas and salad on menu Always seating available

We went here for a a slice and my 5 year old loved it. They have all the standard Italian entrees for dinner and the typical slices and sandwiches for lunch. Staff was very friendly. Reasonably priced entries for Manhattan. Good for the price and better atmosphere than many of the other pizza shops.

Charming restaurant. Great menu variety. Courteous service. It served us well as we were staying a block away at Courtyard Manhattan Upper East Side. Short cab ride to Upper east side hospitals.

I can't rate this place much better than average because really, it's just a pizzeria. But its a VERY GOOD pizzeria. If I want pizza in my neighborhood, this is one of the two spots where I go. They have another location in the 90s which I have not attended.

It's the place to go when we have out of town visitors staying, and they want to take us out to dinner. We choose it because it represents old New York with a good atmosphere and at a very fair price. The main restaurant is a bric- walled and mirrored back room, an Italian restaurant from the old days. Red & White checkered tablecloths and small enough to need only two servers. Specials are handwritten on two wall menus, and often they are cheaper than the regular menu items. That's a switch. Calamari or mussels to start and a veal dish served any number of ways, then the night's veggies and pasta. Regulars flock here, and the casual passers by might not even know that the back room exists. The front room is a pizza parlor, very popular for take out, as well as for mains that are served in the back room in a more casual setting or if dining alone. In addition, there are wine carafes and bottles at reasonable prices beginning under $30.

Just walk through the typical pizzaria to the back, and you'll find a cozy, well-priced Italian restaurant. Even with only one waiter, the srvice was attentive and good. The marinara sause on the shrimps was as good as I've ever had, and the price was well below most New York restaurants. The only downside to this restaurant is that it only has a wine and beer license (neither of which I can drink because of my gout), and I do like a drink before dinner. On the other hand, my wife had a glaas of house wine which she said was quite good.

This restaurant offers two equally impressive sections, one for sit-in dinning, the second a pizzeria with options from a whole meal, pizza or a slice. This was a short walk from the Courtyard hotel. Our first visit was the dining room. The wait staff was a great welcome after a long flight. My wife, daughter and I enjoyed the different tastes of their lasagna, spaghetti, and ziti. All the meals were what we expected. Excellent meal, good wine and exceptional service. Our second night we tried the pizzeria. Equally impressed with the meal. We ordered a pizza and a bottle of wine for our hotel room. I would highly recommend this restaurant, it is well worth the visit.

We moved to the area last week while my son goes through cancer treatment. We’ve already ordered from this restaurant twice. Tonight he had surgery that went very late so when we ordered, we anticipated waiting a long time. The food arrived 30 minutes before they said it would, and it was piping hot, freshly made and delicious! I ordered the penne alla vodka, my son ordered the fettuccine Alfredo, so good!! We also ordered the garlic knots for the second time, to die for. We even have enough for leftovers. So happy we tried this restaurant on our first night in this neighborhood. It’s a gem and we will definitely be ordering often.

Good pizza, great crust and sauce. Service fast and courteous. We picked our own combination of toppings. They also sell by slice if you don't want whole pizza

This place is great. I could tell by the diversity in customers, this place must be good. Great pizza's, salads, and deserts. Quick if you order out, or plenty of dining area. I would go here again anytime.

When you walk into Delizia's, it looks like your typical New York pizza slice joint...but they have a back room. If you're hungering for good, simple Italian food , for reasonable prices, this is your place to go. It's not exactly my neighborhood, but it's definitely a neighborhood favorite. Part of the fun at dining here is checking out who is dining at the table next to you and listening in on their conversation! It's a great "slice" of New York City. The food, especially the constantly changing daily specials, is consistently delicious. For example, one night I ordered the daily special of "veal francese", and it was not just a couple of veal slices dredged in flour, but properly done with a light, eggy batter and a delicious lemon, white wine sauce. And for $16, with a side of pasta, on the Upper East Side of Manhattan! Definitely discover the hidden gem which is the back dining room of Delizia's on First Ave and 73rd.

We tried straciatella soup, pastas, fish and veal too. Food is delicious, service helps at everything.

This is a great place to celebrate with your family. Our daughter was graduating and we had family in town from all over the U.S. Everyone seems to like Italian so we opted for Delizia. Food is served family style and they adjusted tables so we could all sit together. It was a fabulous place to celebrate and everyone had a great meal.

our favorite pizza!

At Delizia you can have a quick bite in the front of the restaurant, or dine at a more leisurely pace in the back room. Either way, you'll get attentive service and great food at a reasonable price. The menu offers traditional Italian dishes such as pizza, pastas, chicken, meat and fish. There's also an ample selection of red and white wines. The garlic bread is especially good, always fresh and warmed just for you. At Delizia, you won't leave hungry, and the best news is, you won't leave poor!

Delizia is my go to casual Italian restaurant. Pizza is excellent (try grandma's pizza). Dishes are very good and portions are generous. Not too expensive and will continue to return!

We went to the 'Fine Dining' room which was intimate, the waiters were very good and the food was very good too !

Great food, very accommodating, and very reasonably priced. Ordered several non menu items and without hesitation they arranged. Very good carafe wine choices.

Whether it's the pizza or the pasta or the salad, it's always delicious. The staff is very friendly and helpful. It's a great place for lunch.

Delizia is a hidden gem: the front is a regular pizzeria (with good pizza by the slice), but they have a back room! At night, when the back room is open, they serve fancy Italian food in a nice ambiance with a friendly server or two. And it is great food!

I used to live on 73rd & 1st and had great memories of Delizia. When I lived there, I would order from them at least once a week. I was visiting NYC this week and wanted to show my partner where I used to live and thought it would be fun to see if Delizia was as good as I remembered. Normally I would have had take out or ate in the casual front room. This time we ate in the more formal rear dining room, which was a first for me. The service was good and the food was just as good as I remember. I highly recommend the baked ziti or pizza.

Go for the vegetarian pizza. But they have excellent lentils soup, delicious spaghettis and great salad. Very nice people and hard workers.

Lovely food and a great range of flavours and dishes, we liked it so much we came back twice! Lots available for vegetarians which we found quite hard to come by in NY. Staff were friendly, efficient and food comes out very quickly. You can tell how popular Delizia’s is by the number of deliveries going out every few minutes. Would highly recommend!

If you're looking for the perfect pizza that is simply delicious & just like the way it's made in Napoli then you have come to the right place after all. Delizia (1374 1st Ave, New York, NY 10021 between: 73nd st. & 74rd st., Phone: 1-212-392-1016) is full of surprises. It's not the best decor but the atmosphere fits right in after the first bit of the "Margarita Pizza". Suddenly, you forget you're in NYC & settled at a "piazza" in Napoli having the finest pizza ever. The place has alot of charm. Especially it's menu. Their dishes are all excellent! It's guaranteed you will return many more times.

Delicious, delicious & delicious! Best selections of pizza & best restaurant ever on U.E.S. If you haven't stopped by yet, must do so! Everything on the menu is A+! Staff is fabulous, decor is just right & the food is absolutely delicious! We have been going to Delizia for years & looking forward to many more!

Dinner, go to the back room. A casual meal, sit in the front. Want take out -- they can do that too. The food here is consistently good and the price is reasonable. Best cannoli ever! Great pizza and pizza like foods. Some of the specials in the back dining room are a strange combination that doesn't work. Stick with the Italian food and you'll enjoy your meal.

We have a dear friend (a local) who introduced us to this place. The sign in front says pizza, but if you keep going to the back you'll find a wonderful Italian restaurant. Full menu, nice wine list, and the real deal with this place is everything is so FRESH––order what you want it's all good. Small local––and by the way––the pizza is excellent! Highly recommended!

Delizia fits the old phrase, 'a surprise inside..' A pizza spot in front, the restaurants rear dining room offers a down-home experience worth adding to a New York visit simply to enjoy a good meal, fine service and comfortable surroundings at a reasonable price. Clearly a spot for the locals, its menu is traditional, the entrees well-prepared, and the staff attentive. The pastas are fresh, sauces flavorful, and fish excellent. Judging by the crowded 'front room', the pizzas draw business but the wide range of choices on the menu make clear that the chef can produce far more than dough and sauce. Given the price, consider it as a great place to go when you get tired of New York prices and pretensions.

The food here is amazing--have never had a bad dish. Their take out is fast and reliable--and teh food actually arrives hot. Their bread is just so delicious, and as a neighborood pizza parlor---it can't be beat.

With all of the man, many great restaurants to dine at and around New York it's probably hard to go wrong. We've found that being adventurous and trying places on a whim is also fun. Lastweek we wondered into a small, unassuming Pizzeria and Resaurant called Delizia on 1st Avenue in New York. The fresh food quality, family, comfortable style ambiance and exceptionally reasonable prices all exceeded our expectations. We'll always head bak to this gem when in New York and tell everyone we can about it. Highly recommended

We have been to this restaurant several times. This was the first time we had an unpleasant experience. Only two servers were available for the entire dining room. Tables were empty but we had to wait 15 minutes before being seated. They did their best to set up our table, pour water and returned 10 minutes later to take our order. Because it was very busy we had to wait a long time, 15-20 minutes, before the main course was served after the appetizer was finished. The waitress forgot to bring the wine we ordered at the beginning of the meal and the waiter did not bring the vegetables for one of our dishes until we were almost finished eating. Needless to say, we asked for the check as soon as the main course was served and, not surprisingly, it was delivered very quickly. it will be a long time before I go back here,

Friendly staff and good service. Solid old school Italian fare. Broiled Salmon on special was excellent. Front is a casual pizza restaurant. We dined in the back room, cozy, brick walls, tablecloths and stemware.

I first went there for dinner with a friend who recommended the restaurants. For years, walked pas this typical unimpressive pizza parlor. I had never eaten there as it was never on my radar. In the back is a nicer dining room with real table service and tablecloths. The food is traditional. If you want good standard Italian food, this is the place. Was there the first time with just one other friend. Last night a party of eight. We were able to sit and enjoy our meal for 3 hours without being hassled. The service is very friendly but they do seem a bit short staffed when busy but our waitstaff overall was delightful. Unlike many restaurants, we could talk without shouting. Overall, an enjoyable evening. The pricing is reasonable with adequate portions As for the front part of the restaurant, I have yet to eat the pizza so i cannot comment on it.

This was a really good pizza experience, but not quite good enough to encourage a special trip to the upper east. If I️ lived in the neighborhood I️ could see this being my go-to pizza joint. The traditional slice and vodka grandma slice were both very good.
Off night?
This is a very pretty restaurant with a very welcoming front room and counter and table service in the back. My service was very prompt and very friendly and the beer was very cold. However, the coating on the calamari was tasteless and the spicy sauce did nothing to save it. The eggplant Parm was absolutely flooded with a very spicy sauce – constituting at least half of the dish. The bread, however, was very fresh and crusty and delicious. Cheesecake was absolutely dried out inedible.
