Enormous. Chinese restaurant at 1633 broadway offers. Dine outstanding dishes.in an electric charged atmosphere.

By Allan S |

Some of their fishes as rice cakes with shrimp and pork chop in noodle soup were hits. Other dishes did not register on my plus scale . The electric energy moves customers through on a rapid pace. Wait times are shirt and the please staff is a plus. Their vodka lychee cocktail with an orchid was a big hit Try it yourself. Sldo the barbeque ribs were top notch

My New Favorite!

By chopstkchk |

Every dish and every bite was absolutely delicious. Typically we enjoy port Xiao Long Bao but today we had the pork and crab and it was excellent. I also highly recommend the shrimp fried rice. I'm going to say it's one of the best I have ever eaten. Service is attentive and most dishes arrive quickly. My only complaint is that it is very difficult to get a reservation and even with one there is a small line. All in all totally worth the wait as this restaurant lives up to the hype!

Good food.

I went for lunch. I didn’t have a reservation but it’s a pretty big place and I got in pretty quickly. The rice and noodle dish were both great. I really loved it.

A must visit

Was super excited to visit DTF in New York, especially since I missed the chance to go last time I was in LA. Tried for a while to snag a reservation and was lucky enough to get one the day before my birthday. We ordered a bit of everything and liked every single dish. Highlights for me were the cucumber salad, soup dumplings and spicy noodles. For dessert, I loved the chocolate Xiao long bao and sesame espresso martini. Super unique and yummy! Can’t wait to come back and bring my family next time. So many items on the menu that I want to try!

An absolutely spectacular experience!

We visited Din Tai Fung on Tuesday. Although the restaurant seats 1,500 people, getting a reservation is challenging. Dining was a great experience. I would definitely recommend it. There is lots to tell. The restaurant is underground! It is located in Manhattan at Broadway and West 51st Street. There is a chrome and glass box between the sidewalk and the curb. You walk in and are cheerfully greeted and asked if you have a reservation. If the answer is yes, you take an elevator or walk down the staircase. Next, you approach the reservation desk. You can check in up to 15 minutes early. You are given one of those black disks that lights up when your table is ready. We hen those lights flashed we were led to our table. The dining room is in sections and quite elegant. The bar is enormous and elegant too. Service was prompt and attentive. We ordered a bottle of wine to start. The wine list is small, but inexpensive by New a York standards. We ordered the $46 Pinot Grigio. They were out. We ordered the $46 Josh Cellars Chardonnay. The wine list mentions corkage is $15. By Manhattan standards, this is absurdly cheap! $50 corkage (or higher) is what we are used to seeing. The restaurant is famous for soup dumplings. This was one of five dishes we ordered. There were ten in a serving as I recall. We also ordered a lettuce dish, a beef tenderloin dish, one more dumpling selection and a dish with pasta and spinach. Yes, there are dumplings for dessert! We ordered two types. One was dumplings filled with chocolate and the other, dumplings filled with a sesame filling. In addition to the wine, we had a pot of tea with the meal. As I recall, the total cost for wine, tea, five entrees and two desserts was about $200 after tax, before tip. That’s about $100 a couple,r before tipping. For an elegant New York restaurant experience, that is a great deal! Are there negatives? The only reservation we could get as at 2:30 in the afternoon. That’s after lunch and before dinner. That was planning a couple of weeks in advance! With 1,500 seats you would assume you could show up and wait in line. They aren’t doing that yet. This was a great experience. We would return.

Great place for a post-show dinner!

This place lived up to the hype! We ate here after a mid-week Broadway show and the place was hopping! The service was top notch and the food was plentiful and tasty. We highly recommend Din Tai Fung!

Extremely delicious culinary event, right in Timesquare. Predicate: highly recommended.

By juergenmieth |

The restaurant is ideally located on Broadway, just off Timesquare. Even if it has grown very large with 400 seats, the management manages to distribute the people pleasantly. The food, especially the pork dumplings and the sour sheep soup were very, very good. The Nutella-filled dumplings with a lightly salted cream sauce as dessert were very special and especially good. The Service was attentive and friendly. Reordering is a bit difficult in terms of process. Be prepared for longer waiting times. If necessary, just ask.

Xiao Long Bao are great

By HeinBloed |

Well, I was told that Xiao Long Bao is one of the best in the world. That was true, but the others were more Fusion-like and less excited than I hoped. We had a reservation but still had to wait about 30 minutes.

Lives up to expectations!

By JC Travels |

We had a reservation for lunch - we were able to be seated a little early and were right in front of the dumpling making room. The atmosphere was very classy and the restaurant was bustling, but we didn't have any delays or issues. In fact, the service was outstanding - Jonathan was fantastic and all his recommendations were spot on. The food was delicious, from the xiao long bao to the spicy wontons to the spring beans and cucumber salad. The fried noodles were a hit with the whole family, as were the chocolate/mochi xiao long bao. It was definitely a treat to eat here!

Best DTF worldwide

By Splendid C |

The best din tai fung I have been to. The place is massive but so well organised. Once reserved (and there are always cancellations you can get tables from) you get seated efficiently when you arrive. The service is fast and efficient. The Xiao long bao come one stack at a time so they don’t go cold. They are delicate and delicious and really the best of all places. The veggies are phenomenal- so fresh and tasty. The dumplings are not oily and the skin is not too thick. Wontons are also well made. A great place in NY for Chinese food.

Dang! … or DIN ?? 😉

Walking back from show and saw this cool place. Lot of activity and thought we needed to check out. The space was awesome. Below street level and very happenin. Dark, great vibe, and everyone seemed happy! Started with Sweet & Sour Pork Baby Back Ribs, and Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao. Also shared an ordered of Chicken Fried Noodles. All were fantastic and we had noodles left over. So portions are very generous. Wine selection limited and in my opinion, they need a few more selections in the “by the glass” choices. This isn’t a killer, but surprised. Overall visit is an A+. Food and service was outstanding and we will definitely be back on our next visit to the city.

Could not have been any better! Excellent in every possible way.

10/10 Food. 10/10 Service. 10/10 Atmosphere. Everything was EXCELLENT! We will absolutely make DTF a must-have each time we visit NYC.

Spectacular

By TheM123 |

A spectacular place. Very good food and excellent service. Low prices considering the costs of restaurants in the center. A place also family friendly.

Lives up to its hype

By Peak Seeker |

Great atmosphere and loved the shareable/family style meal approach. We tried a range of items on the menu and nothing disappointed. We loved it all. We were able to walk in and get seated within 15 minutes after a Broadway show.

Overhyped

I really wanted to love it! Great energy. Ok food. Terrible service/pacing. Smells like a Delta lounge (that’s a compliment.) Reasonable choice if you want to see and be seen and leave hungry/late. (Disappointing for me as a Taiwanese American.)

Loving Din Tai Fung!

By WINEandTRAVEL |

So great! I love this place... the chow is fantastic, great ambiance, service. I got hooked on Din Tai Fung at their location in Las Vegas... another winning spot in the Aria. This is a giant restaurant, but it's designed so well. You can see the people making dumplings and other items thru the glass windows of their prep kitchen. You need a reservation at all places, including the bar. You can book on Yelp App. I booked a seat at the bar (was lucky to get it... very very busy). Don't miss the Kurobuta Pork Xiao Long Bao (Soup Dumplings)... insanely great! Other dishes I like: Cucumber Salad, Spicy Wontons, any of the Greens, Shrimp & Kurobuta Pork Pot Stickers... then anything else... so many great things. If you like chocolate, definitely order the Chocolate & Mochi Xiao Long Bao. Service is excellent. VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED - HALL OF FAME

Overhyped and Overcrowded

By juan_escobar144 |

This Din Tai Fung on Broadway was disappointing. Sure, it’s famous for selling a lot at one spot, but the food is average compared to other Thai restaurants. Dumplings come in many presentations, but the long virtual line just to get to the real line isn’t worth it. Save your time and try other spots nearby.

Beautiful - Delicious - Interesting- Exotic

By Alwin E |

We got the tip and fortunately also a table for lunch. The restaurant filled up very quickly and all the food ordered was excellent. The interior is very appealing and the Service excellent. If you like this kind of food, you should definitely eat there.

So good we came twice in one week!

By Charlotte |

Our first time visiting New York and we visited this place on my birthday, the food was so yummy that we immediately booked to come back two days later. The pork soup dumplings were super yummy, and definitely get the green beans and the ribs! The drinks were delicious too I got the honey tea. And the star of the show was the chocolate dumpling dessert 😍😍 service was great, our waiters were SO attentive and really helpful. Definitely visiting again next time we go to New York

Great!

By maria19732015 |

Excellent location, the restaurant is big and accomodates many guests, the decor is stylish, and the menu is as good as any other Din Tai Fung. I try to visit it frequently when in New York because of the quality of the food, but reservations need to be done in advance as tables tend to fill pretty quickly.

Loved it.

The atmosphere The style and look The food All great. Really enjoyed our visit, great way to start our holiday. Really fresh and tasty food. Definitely recommend.

I recommend

Great!!! We were super well served, the environment is nice, very good food. Highlight was the wave with garlic, a delight.

One of my favorite restaurants finally has a NYC location

By John |

Review: Din Tai Fung, NYC Din Tai Fung is one of my favorite restaurants, and I’ve now been to seven of their locations. I was thrilled when they finally opened in New York City, and this is by far their most luxurious spot. They operate on reservations only, and it’s tough to get in, so book in advance. If you’re dining solo or as a pair, I highly recommend requesting a seat at the counter—it seems easier to snag a spot there. The food, as always, was exceptional, and the upscale setting made it an even better experience. A must-visit for any Din Tai Fung fan!

Lives up to the hype!

Upscale and lively atmosphere. Incredible service, so attentive to detail and helpful in explaining the menu. Overall a delicious meal, and definitely try the chocolate bao buns with the sea salt cream!

Top!

Excellent Asian cuisine, choice, efficient Service. Public rather young. Reservation recommended (waiting list!) even late after a show

Delicious! Great service! Elegant decor! I left extremely happy and satisfied!!

Din Tae Fung: A Food Experience To Live For Who said soup dumplings and Chinese food in general cannot satisfy all one’s needs? Not Din Tae Fung. Started in Taiwan, by way of Seattle and California, it has now finally come to New York City, answering my prayers. The list of delicious dishes is long but includes everything I have eaten: from heavenly string beans to luscious dumplings made with love, from….to, I could go on and on. Suffice it to say that the only challenge, and an understandable one it is, is that so many people feel the same way I do making it hard to get a reservation. It took me rapidly calling continuously right after midnight to score a table for 2 exactly 30 days later. I got even luckier when I was able to serendipitously get a reservation for one at the bar at 4 pm today! I am sure I could barter these reservations away for a nice profit. But you only go around once in life, perhaps, and eating at Din Tae Fung is like winning the food lottery!! On your mark, get set, start dialing and good luck🙏🙏😊😊

Beautiful Dumplings in a Beautiful Setting

By ATLfoodie22 |

Excellent dumplings in a beautiful setting. The pork soup dumplings, Spicy chicken wontons, pork and shrimp potstickers, and garlic green beans were all very well-prepared. I was a bit worried as my teenage daughter lobbied for this place based on TikTok, but it did not disappoint.

Excellent and worth the wait

By funbythelake |

Food was fantastic. Absolutely fantastic. Arrived here for my daughter’s birthday eve and the restaurant did not disappoint. We waited for 2 hours to get in. Worth the wait. Yummy

Gorgeous place, impeccable food and service!

By tina y |

The NYC DTF is the largest and is absolutely gorgeous! The decor is very NYC clubby feel . The design by the Rockwell group had won architectual awards for this NYC location. We love all the food, its delicate texture and consistency. People dont realize DTF only use natural, no preservatives in their dough, food ... All freshly made. You really have to appreciate the process and details from this cultural iconic establishment!

Great food, corporate energy

By grantyho |

Din Tai Fung is always great and the food makes me feel at home! I've been to locations in Taiwan, China, California, Seattle, and now in New York. The one thing about this Din Tai Fung is that it feels too corporate compared to other locations. I guess that's what you get when you open a location in Midtown Manhattan.

Incredible

By mjhtnt |

No wonder the place is booked solid. Awesome food, beautifully decorated dining area and good service. Best dumplings ever.

I will be dreaming of this food forever now!

Not From NY, came in for my 60th Bday with my daughter from PA. All I know is that the Cucumber Salad, Pork Soup Dumplings, Garlic String Beans & Noodles with Sesame are the stuff that dreams are made of. I know it may be a long time before I can go back but it was definitely one of the top 10 meals I have ever had in my life! Glad I got to experience it at least once and with my favorite person on the planet! :-)

Lunch in New York City, NY

By Vy H. |

Always love coming to DTF restaurants! Came here Sunday for lunch—arrived early to my reservation but luckily they were able to accommodate! The restaurant is huge—spacious with pretty decor, located below ground level Highly recommend their soup dumplings (Xiao Long Bao)—my favorites are the Crab & Kurobuta Pork and Truffle & Kurobuta Pork!! Both are so good. For veggies, the String Beans with Garlic is delicious, very flavorful and decent portion. Service was decent—food came out fairly quick and our server was friendly but we barely saw him except to order and ask for the check.

Great atmosphere and location

By Rony K |

Great restaurant. One of the best of this network to my opinion Service is great, dishes are fresh and the atmosphere is just as amazing as the location. Since it is blasted with people all day long, you might find yourself waiting up to an hour or so but line management is perfectly managed and you can choose to get a text message once table is ready. Meanwhile you are more than welcomed to kill time in Times Square…not that bad

Take your time and enjoy the experience

By bballmama2 |

Awesome first time visit. Planned a month or so in advance and couldn’t get a reservation between 6-8, so plan early. Upon arrival we were asked if we had reservations and proceeded to the restaurant downstairs. Once you’re downstairs, you check in and wait until you’re paged. The decor reminds you of a dark parlor. There are over 100 spaces to sit, and it’s busy so you can imagine how efficient they need to be to move everyone through the day. Our food which included their signature dumplings, steamed buns, excellent green beans, fried rice and noodles were all delightful. The cucumber salad to start was not the standard but very tasty. We closed with the chocolate dumplings with salted cream and they were delicious. This is a must try if you’re in the area and don’t skip their signature dishes and those green beans! Our servers were well versed about the menu and efficient. Give yourself adequate time (at least 2 hrs) to enjoy from check in to departure and don’t book so closely to shows or other reservations….i recommend and will be back in a city near me…. Oh, the women’s bathroom only has 4-5 stalls so you may encounter a wait…they need to fix this (the reason for 4 stars vs. 5).

First Class!

Went here on a recommendation from my daughter, wasnt sure what to expect. It was very busy but they kept things moving.Every dish from the apps to the main was top notch! Cant wait to come back, server went above and beyond explaining the menu to us. Our new favorite place in NYC!

Amazing modern Taiwanese eatery

By Grace Annette C Y |

We went ether a few times this year because lots of people In Manhattan recommended it. It’s always causal and fun. Their cucumber salad and marinated wood ear mushroom salad are my favorite appetizers. We loved their sesame paste noodles. Their sautéed green beans with garlic sauce are outstanding. Their bean colors cold noodles are yummy as well. The chocolate March mochi dumplings are also fun as desserts.

Try the soup dumplings for a different flavor

By MLoor |

Stumbled upon this place while walking in NYC. The waiter was pleasant and helpful and asked us if it was our first time. With that he offered suggestions. We tried Xiao Long Bao (soup dumplings), different and savory. The plates are small so you must try different dishes. I thought the price was right for a different experience. We were lucky the bar had seats available. The reservations are booked two months in advance.

Good but not as good as other Din Tai Fungs.

By Neilmtl |

We were excited to eat her as we love these restaurants having eaten in them all over the world. This one is much fancier in decoration and experience. They also try to make the food fancier when it doesn't need to be. The dumplings are great as always. But the pork chop is a thicker cut of kurobota pork and the taste is off as a result. The black pepper beef was tough. Also it's much more expensive because of the prime location. Great experience but not as good as other locations.

Wonderful Experience

By Jessica B |

We sat at the bar. The bartender was very sweet but busy. The pork soup dumplings are worth the visit every time. The chocolate buns should not be missed. The decor is rich and inviting. Reservations are a MUST! I’ll definitely be back next time.

Best of the Best

By alohapeter |

I have been to several of these around the world and have loved them all. This version does not disappoint.Food, service and vibe are perfect. So many options and all are wonderful. Soup, ribs, and dumplings are the star attractions.Everything is a notch above any other version you have before.

Light, flavorful food

By dustythoughts |

I love soup dumplings, so this restaurant was the perfect choice for a late-night meal. I loved the menu options, and the food is light and flavorful enough to be eaten at any time of day. We shared the vegan wonton soup, the chicken and vegetable buns, and the sesame buns, and everything was utterly delicious. Food came out quickly, but was still made well. This restaurant is casual but gives the air of being fine dining, which made me feel fancy. I'll definitely order from here again.
