Beer!

By Doug W |

We enjoyed the great beer selection and good service on a crowded Saturday afternoon. We did not eat there so cannot comment on the food. Would like to return when less crowded and more time to explore the beer list.

Delicious food, great atmosphere & lovely staff!

By Nicki M |

After another shopping day at Macys, we decided on a well earned rest and ended up here! What a gem! Lovely relaxed atmosphere, low lighting, TV screens if you wanted and trains running around christmas trees made it a nice touch for all things "christmassy". Happy hour was from 4-7pm and as it was 4pm that we had walked in, we indulged in a couple of beers (of which there is a HUGE selection) and cucumber vodka gimlets at $6 and $8 respectively (normally 8 & 12). We ordered the soft corn tortilla with Asada (soft grilled beef) and a Cubanno sub filled with bacon & pulled pork with parmesan fries - Delicious! I was unsure about a couple of items on the menu (being from the UK it was a bit different) and a really nice bartender took this all in his stride and made sure I understood the prices and what food was on offer - top man! Overall, a great visit at the tap house and hope to get in before flying home.....the attentiveness from the Staff absolutely made it a lovely experience ! :)

Surprisingly Good

By SisBoston |

We expected a burger and beer place and were very pleasantly surprised by the variety and quality of the offerings. The room was pub-ish but comfortable (with good sized tables), and the staff was very pleasant, efficient, and knowledgeable. The beer list was daunting, and the mixed drinks were well prepared. One interesting dish was a salad made of zucchini noodles, olives, asparagus, red onions, hazelnuts, and feta. Delicious! The diner who ordered the burger called it the best he had ever had. Don’t miss out on the fantastic duck fries.

Great find in this part of town

By Garyjack |

Called in here as a family for lunch before our flights back to the UK. Great selection of craft beers (I only wish I had found the place earlier in the week!) and we had a fab lunch. We stuck to sandwiches and appetizers but the food was plentiful and really nice. The duck fat fries are amazing. Really good atmosphere for families on a lunchtime and offers great value for this part of town.

A great sports bar!

By camchappers |

Ended up coming here a couple of times during my trip to NYC and it's a pretty good sports bar! One evening we did have some food and I thought that was pretty decent (I had a veggie pizza). If you like your craft beer, they have a good selection on tap and very good tasting beer too - plenty of screens for sport to be shown too whilst you're there. It's also a few streets away from Madison Square Green, so this is definitely a good pre-match spot for a couple of drinks!

Rescued from world's angriest bartender!

By Andersenp2016 |

We first tried the hotel bar but they didn't have several beers we requested even though the beers were all on the sheet of paper the bartender gave us when we sat down. Then the bartender went mental, so we felt it safest to find some other place to spend our $$ while we rested for a few minutes. I'm glad we ended up at District Tap House where they had the very first beer we requested. Look, it's on the menu! It's in a tap! And then it was in a pint glass, and from there I quickly sent it en route to my bloodstream. We went in for a quick drink to cool down and ended up ordering food and several more beers. THIS bartender knew her stuff and made a few excellent recommendations based on our preferences. We called a few friends/former colleagues to join us, and it turned into quite the party. So glad we ended up here and that our $$ went to a place/staff that deserved it.

A good place for dinner, beer and sports

By Jason W |

We were staying near Times Square and trying to find a place for a burger, some beers and football on a Saturday night. We found this place on Yelp and decided to check it out. Lots of games, a big beer menu and a menu that was different than a normal sports bar. We were happy to be anywhere other than a TGIFriday's. This was a nice find. The service was good and quick, the food was very good and the beers were cold. It isn't easy to find a place near Times Square that serves decently priced food and beer. The District Tap House was exactly what we were looking for.

Excellent Service, Great Value

By Traveler_from_PA |

Great find within an easy walk from Penn Station and Times Square. Everyone was super friendly from the doorman to the servers. Food was an excellent value for NYC. I think the most expensive item on the menu was $16. District Tap House has a creative cocktail menu and of course a great beer selection on tap, and even more available by the bottle. Food was good, including the duck fat fries and chicken tacos, which were creatively prepared with mushrooms. Atmosphere was upbeat, with several TVs tuned to sports in the bar area. Only thing I did not like was the bathrooms - kind of creepy walking down to a dimly lit basement alone.

Wonderful find

By dustythoughts |

This restaurant is a lovely find amid the rush of the neighborhood, with tasty food, helpful staff, and an extensive beer menu. The atmosphere is nice and a bit fusty without being overbearing; we were able to sit and enjoy our meals and drinks without any rush to leave.

Great selection of craft beers, delicious menu and friendly staff

By Claire F |

We went to the District Tap House prior to a Broadway play. They have a great selection of craft beers, a great menu selection and lots of big screen TVs. We enjoyed having a pre-theater meal and beer while enjoying watching college football. The staff was both friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is upbeat and casual for both couples and kid-friendly as well.

Very Poor Experience

By chucktown8 |

I am a frequent visitor to NYC, so get the overpriced places (even though many places do not over charge). That being said, paying high prices for ice cold brussel sprouts that had zero taste, duck fat fries that had to have been hours old, and a burger that had a half piece of bacon (looked like it was bitten in half) and was only half the size of the bun ($16), is atrocious. Not to mention that after sending them back, they all came back pretty bad again and we were offered nothing. I will NEVER visit this place again, and with hundreds of bars/restaurants in the area I recommend others look around. This place has some very good reviews, but besides the ambiance, I cannot understand why.

50 beers on tap!

By Zuzka123 |

Very pleasant atmosphere, we spent many happy hours here during a recent five day trip to NYC. It can get very busy in the evenings and you may have to sit at the bar if you are not planning on eating. We had no problem with that. We debated whether 50 beers on tap is a good idea. For us was questionable whether the volume of consumption is enough to ensure all the beers are fresh at all times. Also does anyone really need 9 different Pale Ales on draft? Staff were knowledgeable and helped us to manage our choices, find some great new beers and generally waste a few evenings and several thousand brain cells.

Noisy but good

By stateofzen |

Met some friends here on a Friday night for dinner. We shared several tapa-size plates (ordered the Brussels sprouts twice- yum, but skip the creme brûlée)and two bottles of wine for about $50 tab for each of us. That seems great for food and wine at a tapas spot. Good service, glad they use open table so I could be sure we'd have a place to sit.

Failed to Meet Expectations

By 2120Nart |

Crowded and staff didn’t handle that with the professionalism expected as this restaurant was highly recommended. Staff was rude and food was not worth the wait for a table. Too many other quality places around to put up with the negatives.

Going in for drinks

By Jofraser9 |

Very poor service. 8 empty tables from 8pm till 11pm still moved on when sat at one of the free tables (no reserved sign) from staff saying they couldn’t let us sit there as we weren’t ordering food although overall we ordered three rounds of drinks and spent a decent amount in their ‘tap house’. Would not recommend to a friend. Photo of a few of the empty tables.

Solid tap house with decent food

By DrMikeinNJ |

Went here last minute with a friend on a Saturday night. Was able to get reservations on Open Table, although they were plenty of seats at the bar and we just walked in. Place has a good atmosphere. Friendly staff. Lots of TVs all around with views from virtually anywhere if you’re watching sports. Was surprised to see the place sorta emptied out by 8PM, although maybe it was because of the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend. Actually ended up ordering cocktails despite their wide variety of beer on tap. had a mezcal-mixed margarita which was good. Menu seems a bit slightly limited but food was good. Ordered the Cuban. Was very good and tasty although I feel for a true Cuban the bread should have been pressed. Also ordered the pizza which was decent but nowhere near or in comparison to true New York pizza. Will likely be back.

Fun!!!

By Monica S |

Very fun! Great food, drink and service. We had not planned on eating but by the time we had a few drinks, we got hungry and the staff was more than accommodation!! The apple Margarita was awesome!!

Unstoppable beer selection

By MPLUSMDESIGN |

Just wanted a beer and a to go order, ended up drinking 3 and wished I had more time. Staff has a firm grasp on beer types and was super helpful. Absolutely going back next time I’m in NY

Great food & location in mid-town

By Suzanne L |

Had lunch here in December prior to catching a show. The atmosphere is very comfortable and the staff is friendly. We had burgers, duck fries, porkbelcy sandwich, and chicken sandwich. The food was great the duck fries were a little "too" rich for our teenagers palettes but a nice touch. The beer selection is good but limited. I had the district margarita. It was amazing. It has a little heat and I would have stayed for more but had to keep moving. I would go here again.

NYC birthday long weekend

By VNKSmith |

One evening during our visit to NYC, we had dinner at District Tap House. We had tickets to see a band later, so we had to eat a bit early. This place was just great - it was happy hour and the place was humming! They serve 'small dishes', or tapas, and there were so many items to choose from. We were a group of four, and shared: meatballs, mac 'n cheese; goat cheese; wings; atlantic cod, brussel sprouts with bacon; lamb chops; duck breast; crab empanadas; and chorizo wrapped in pastry. What a great meal, it was so much fun to have a little tasting of all these amazing items, and everything was just great - yes, even the brussel sprouts! This was an ideal way to have an early casual meal, choosing items until we ran out of time. Loved it!

Unusual twists on pub food

By tourgoddess |

We stumbled into this place because it was close to our hotel, after traveling all day and were lured in by the warm atmosphere. We were surprised by the extensive bar menus but opted for unique and delicious cocktails. Each dish we tried went the extra mile in special preparations...not your standard hack pub food. The short rib and polenta was a special standout.

Really good brewpub / gastro pub in Midtown

By magicsteve1024 |

Arrived late into NYC and had a table booked here for a late dinner. Huge selection of draught and bottled beers and very good selwction of tapas-style plates which was perfect for us as didn't want long/big dinner. Service excellent and really good atmosphere, definitely a winner with us!

Small Plates are really big!

By K C |

Great little find for dinner for 8. They took a reservation on a Saturday! The prices are a little high but one plate is really enough for a person or a few to share. Food was really good and service was outstanding. Sat at the bar and had a few drinks after and it was crowded but not overly.

Disappointed

By NeilPuddy |

Thought we would give the Tap house a try - but came away very disappointed. On entering were told that there was plenty of seats available but when we sat down were asked to move as we weren’t ordering food?? ( not asked if we were in the first place!) No problem headed to the bar and proceeded to try the craft beer selection. Whilst we were there not one table was filled for food from the area we originally sat in. 8 from not sure how many remained empty whilst we were there. Not a good advert for this pub.

Still A Great Place

By bbur970019 |

We went to the District Tap House last year and revisited this July. The food is really, really good except for the spiced nuts which were too sweet. Amazing selection of draft beers and a super nice and knowledgable bar tender who helped us select our drafts.

Not your typical sports bar menu

By Magnolialady39110 |

My husband and I found ourselves in NYC during the final Saturday of the college football season. Being die hard fans, we didn't want to have to flip between several games being played that night, but we wanted to get out of our tiny hotel room for a while. We discovered this place not far away and I'm really glad that we did. We started by finding a spot at the bar while we waited for a table to become available. This place has tons of beer choices. We ordered the bacon wrapped dates and my husband ordered steak tartare (something he has been saying for a while that he wanted to try). Both were really good. After that we moved to a table and ordered another round of drinks and dinner. My husband had a burger with the duck fat fries. I didn't try the burger, but he said it was good. I did try the fries and can see why they have gotten such good reviews. I had the hanger steak and an order of the brussel sprouts. The steak was good, but not great. Our waiter described the brussel sprouts as amazing and he was not far off of the mark. I might go back for those alone. It was a little loud in the bar area, but there were multiple tvs so that we could keep up with all of the games we were interested in.

Great Selection of Beer

By Randy P |

Our second time to NYC and our second trip to the District Tap House. Enjoyed ourselves as much this time as the first time.

Great Dinner!

By Brendan P |

Had an AWESOME pre-show dinner here. The food was good (spinach artichoke dip was great!!) and the drink menu is out of this world. I could stay here for days trying all the different IPAs, ales, etc. I look forward to coming back!

Pricey, but delicious and great service

By BonnieKeith |

We were a walk in before a play and got seated in less than 15 minutes. We ordered beers on tap at the bar before being seated. Great selection of tap beers! Its an older establishment in the garment district part of town, but close to Time Square and our theater. We only needed to ask for our server once, which by the looks at how busy they were, it wasn't bad. I had seared tuna, and the kale salad (my favorite). my husband had the pork loin (delicious). small portions for the price, but the atmosphere and service were so great.

Poor establishment go somewhere else!

By Hera |

Average food but pricey, so dark you need a flashlight. Only "ONE" high chair in the entire restaurant. Hostess was nice but that was it. We were seated in the far back . It was freezing the ac was blowing so hard my daughters hair was blowing in her face. In late Nov. We asked to be moved to one of the empty booths, the waitress said why? I told her we were freezing and our food would be also when it came out. Oh no, everything is reserved.. What a joke another group came in were seated at a high top but they got up and moved to one of the booths. After that she never came back to wait on us! The other booth was never filled which made it more aggravating . My family was so mad they spoke to the owner and told him about the episode explaining that I had cancer and had to sit with my coat on the whole time and he could care less that we were uncomfortable and had terrible service. The food was very average but with a big price tag. Take your money somewhere else.

Great service and great price

By Kate I |

First of all the prices were fantastic, especially for NYC!! This place was close to our hotel and we just stumbled upon it. Beer and wine had great selection. Food wise we had the Brussels sprouts and beet salad. I had the falafel sandwich and it was just ok, too dry and not much flavor. Others at our table had the spare rib sandwich and burgers and all were lovely. Bree our server was super fun and had great suggestions.

Busy Place, good food

By serendipity423 |

Went here before a show at MSG - at 5p place was packed. Super dark inside so hard to read menus. Huge beer selection. Portions are small but decent. Service is ok for how busy they are.

Pleasant tavern

By Irma G |

For a sports bar, the food was excellent. The appetizers (Brussels sprouts, broccoli rabe and almonds soaked in some kind of oil) were all very good. We had a nice portion of salmon which was well prepared. The wine was good and there was a huge selection of beers. We sat in the back in a booth and it was not overly noisy. Our waitress made several helpful suggestions as to what to order.

Good place for lunch

By cc33332015 |

We stopped in for a couple drinks and lunch. The drinks were good and the food was good. The portions of food were small. It was really good though and perfect for a light eater like me. Bartender was really nice. It was a bit pricey for the amount of food you got.

One of our faves!

By shellz66 |

We loved this place so much we came back a second time! Love the atmosphere...it's busy so you may have to wait a bit to get a seat at the bar which is where we always like to sit. We ordered the octopus and the short rib pappardelle... DELISH!! Will go back again next time I visit the city!

Huge beer list, great food

By Inspiration529530 |

Family of 4 stopped in for dinner. Loud pub atmosphere, which we expected...after all, it's a pub. Beer list is huge. Tapas style menu. Waitress was EXTREMELY helpful...she recommended several menu items, all of which were excellent: pork chop was large and juicy and paired very well with the Brussels sprouts. Duck fat fries are a must have.

Tapas in New York

By Wendy F |

Loved the food at the District Tap House. Portion sizes are large though! enjoyed the chicken tacos, goats cheese pizza, sweet potato fries and salmon! good wine too!

Great food and location

By Jonathan F |

Visited NYC for Christmas and visited District Tap House late on Christmas Eve (around 10pm). Greeted quickly at door and sat instantly due to no wait being Christmas Eve. Our server Paul helped my wife and I with our beer selection and with questions we had with menu items. We were only looking for small bite to eat before calling it a night, so didn't want a lot of food. We ordered the chicken tacos and the chicken dumplings. The plates were smaller as more of a place you have to get multiple items for a dinner, but for what we were wanting the portion was great. The tacos were amazing with homemade tortillas, and my wife loved the dumplings. It made for a nice end to a busy NY day. Will definitely come back next time in Midtown

Good but LOUD!!!

By Steve V |

Good food but way too loud if you want to have a conversation. Mostly a bar menu selection with a few twists. Decent drink selection.

Great food, excellent service

By DCLDad |

We stayed in the garment district, looking for someplace nearby with good food, and came across this gem. It's a pub atmosphere, can be loud at happy hour, but the food quality is outstanding. We ordered small plates and loved every dish. Recommend the Brussel sprouts.

Feel like a New Yorker!

By hootiejohn |

Great location serving excellent food and one of the widest selection of beers in New York City. Very attentive staff.

Cedar Plank Pork

By Tiffany M |

Dinned here last weekend after an amazing Hedwig and the Angry Inch performance and the District Tap exceeded expectations. I knew the beer was gonna be amazing, but I wasn't sure if the food was going to be anything more than greasy bar fair. Boy did I worry for nothing! For my drink I went with a cold pint of Old Speckled Hen on tap and it was creamy and light, with just a hint of bitter. I loved it! To start we ordered the Crab Empanadas and Veggie Au gratin and both were delicious. The empanadas are made fresh in house and the chewy, flakey dough left me wanting a second order. My wife ordered the grilled salmon for her dinner and she thought the fish was cooked perfectly and couldn't get enough of the green and wax been sauté served along side the salmon (the sauté was a bit sweet for me tho). For my entrée I choose the Smoked Center Cut Pork Chop and it was brought out to me sizzling on top of a cedar plank, which served as my plate. The double, bone in chop had perfect grill marks, was incredibly juicy, and I loved, loved, loved that slow smoked flavor! It was slightly over salted but once I generously smeared the horseradish mustard over each bite it mellowed out nicely. Overall we both had an excellent time and dinner at District Tap and I can't wait to go back to try their Duck Fat Fries!!

Beer Heaven!

By glennrr |

This is a great place to grab a bite and indulge in the a variety of different beers. Great atmosphere, nice staff and the beer selection is off the charts. Go enjoy and drink responsably!

Great sports bar with great food

By Tom G |

Typically there is a tradeoff between good TV watching and the food at sports bars. Not here. The food is great, and the beer options are plenty with 30 or so tap beers and another 100 or so bottles/cans. Taps are heavy on the IPAs and there are some great ones. But plenty other to choose from. I had the brussel sprouts and lamb meatball appetizers, and both were outstanding. There are large screen TVs that line both sides of the bar, so all seating gets great views of the games. Very busy place but pretty big so able to find seating even during NFL playoffs.

Dinner on a Sunday evening

By randyharvey |

Stopped here for dinner with some business colleagues. Beer selection is one of the best I have seen, a number of really hard to get brews on tap, I believe they have 60 taps running plus a bunch of bottles and cans. Interesting food menu with all selections being very good. Great place will hit it up again when in NYC. Is definitely worth a visit if you are a craft beer fiend.

service spotty if you are a sitting at a table

By Margie F |

We were a group of nine. It took a long time for the waitress to take our order for drinks and then had to hail her down overtime for more drinks. We had one late arrival and had to keep asking for her food. The table was totally cleared and still no dinner for our arrival that came only five minutes after we ordered, the waitress was not even flustered when we kept asking if her dinner would be arriving soon. She delivered the check as she delivered the order to the late arrival. Drafts were ok, cucumber gimlet very weak. The dates with bacon very good. Deviled eggs so so...hummus with veggies ordinary. The burger just ok duck fat fries good. The brussel sprouts were ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING but not worth the 20% tip added on for mediocre service, food and drink. The bar looked very crowded though and that seems to be the place to meet and greet. Still thought price was high

Great Lunch and Beer

By Ann Marie A |

We stopped in for lunch and we're delighted with the unique bar menu. The salmon burger was outstanding. The spare rib sandwich and burger were great too. The French fries were the best my boys have ever had.

Stumbled upon a wonderful gem!

By afinnmom |

DH and I were looking for a quick bite near our hotel after tucking the kids and their grandma in for the night. We found District Tap House and we were not dissapointed. The ambience is friendly and quiet. The beer selection was varied with good prices and the tapas menu was delicious. We ordered 2 to start and liked them so much we tried 2 more! If you are looking for an unpretentious place to eat some great tasting food add this place to your list!

Great beer selection

By Love_to_Travel59 |

I truly enjoyed the atmosphere on a Fri afternoon. I want to go back and also try the food. One bartender was awesome and friendly. The other was having a bad day, inattentive and a grump. Had a great time having a bunch of samplers

Delicious Food

By SUNGRL18 |

We discovered this Tapas Bar by accident but it turned out to be a gem. The service was a bit slow the first night we visited but they apologised and we could see they were a little short staffed. We ordered five dishes between the two of us and wow we were very satisfied at the end of them. The creativity and flavours were delicious. We loved it so much we went back the next night to try some other dishes. It was pretty good value for money too. Would definitely recommend if you like well thought out and delicious food. They also have a wide range of beers.

great food and atmosphere

By Jo V |

We were repeat visitors to this great spot in the fashion/theater district. It's a quiet and cozy atmosphere, with a great menu of small shareable plates. The service is excellent and attentive, and the cocktails are perfect. The beer and wine list is impressive. We enjoyed many items, including the burger (twice!), the mac and cheese, the shrimp and chorizo skewer, and the short rib. The hangar steak is a little tough and was over cooked, but I'm a Texan, so my steak bar is high.

Great location

By Chuck0806 |

Great food, great atmosphere - easy to find! We had chicken tacos and bacon, lettuce tomato and avocado. Excellent food and service!

Five Stars Except For the Noise.

By bbur970019 |

I would say most people go here for the beer and wine selections which are fantastic. The food is amazing and the decor is very upscale gastropub-like. The only reason I did not give a five star review is because the noise level was out of sight. I literally could not here the person sitting next to me at the bar. If you go try to go later when the after-work crowd start to disperse and the noise level decreases somewhat.

Great selection of beers

By carby2241 |

We came into District Tap House for some food and drinks and left very happy (and a bit drunk too). We really enjoyed the food and having the TV's located everywhere we looked we managed to force ourselves to come back again 2 days later to watch the Premier League football match which the bar staff put on especially as we asked for it. I found the food to be excellent quality bar food and loved my visit here. The bar does get extremely busy in the evenings particularly on the weekend.

Cool bar

By Chris C |

Great choice of beers. Slightly dopey service. Lively without being too busy or loud. Good goats cheese croquettes.

Slow Service

By Raymond N |

Had to catch a play. Was looking forward to a couple of drinks. Had to rush the second round. Good appetizers. But not sure I would go again if I was looking for a quick cocktail.

Lunch before theatre

By Stephanie M |

Great burger and fries. Radesburger on tap! Nice space with good service. Perfect spot to have lunch before seeing a matinee. Molten lava cake was yummy. Coffee was superb.

Wow 34 for two Bloody Marys

By Jaime O |

Bar looked nice, old look, it was pretty loud in there. Ordered 2 bloody Mary's with gray goose.....got two small glasses with probably one of the worst bloody mary mixes I've ever tasted.......my wife actually used those words to me...I was thinking the same thing so.......well can't base the bar on one drink so gave it an average rating

Unique tapas and awesome service! Very New York!

By Rhodes |

This was our last dinner in New York, and one of our favorites! Our server was on top of everything. The place itself was a little noisy, but that's NY. We tried 4 things: Braised short rib with goat cheese polenta bites (mouth watering deliciousness), cedar plank pork chop with onion burboun glaze (tasty but incredibly dry), goat cheese and honey croquet (creamy) and grilled octopus (unique and smoky)! Happy hour is decently priced. We loved it!

Great choice of beers, filling food

By Mike H |

Steak and egg sandwich with fries was top drawer. Went well with a light IPA, although the choice of craft beers from the many taps was amazing.

Enjoyed a great lunch and tasty beer!

By LAKOR |

Found this little gem while strolling around the garment district. It's nestled between material and trim. We were greeted by a friendly host and it was uphill from there. They had an awesome selection of beers and a great menu. My husband and i enjoyed a great lunch in a relaxing environment. We will definitely visit here again while in the city.

Good find easy to get to walking between MSG and Grand Central

By Storrs2000 |

Food came quickly. The gnocchi melted in your mouth! TV at your table to catch a game. Extensive beer menu . Fries with burger and veggie burger was good. Salad with the burger was sub-par just lettuce with a little onion or radish. But overall a good place!

Creative fun menu, with well executed food

By Mark B |

All the food we had — starters, mains, desserts — were all nicely arranged and presented, and tasted as good as it looked. My only concern was that the short-rib with pappardelle was a little dry, but in the meat and the noddle — it needed a little more sauce. I loved the creativity of the menu, and it felt like we had a choice of menu items not found elsewhere.

Good beer selection and tasty bites

By Darbi B |

We have been to the Taphouse twice now and have enjoyed each visit. My husband, a craft beer lover always enjoys the draft selection. The Mac and cheese is tasty and duck fat fries are always a win!

Solid Midtown Bar and Restaurant

By dctravel |

Met a friend for lunch on a weekday. I made a reservation, just to make sure we got a table, but when we arrived a little before noon, the lunch crowd had not arrived yet. It did get busier as lunch went on. They have a really good beer list, and offer tasters for $2 or $3. A good option if you don't want a full beer. I had the burger, which was well cooked and included bacon and some type of cheddar like cheese (I think). The duck fat fries were amazing!

Good beer and grub

By Trave1ingMike |

My buddy and I tried this place out while in NY on business. We went on a Wednesday night and it wasn't very busy at all. Good sized spot with a bar up front and a decent size restaurant behind that. Although I'm a Bud Light drinker, there seemed to be a good amount of beer on tap. Food was good, we got some guacamole and then wings. Bartenders were all friendly and quickly refilled empty glasses. Good experience and I would return.

Night and day

By Lotsofreviews |

I’d actually written a review of my first visit and hadn’t posted it but after my second visit I’m quite glad. On my first visit my wife and I went in the evening, the place was busy and we waited a while before getting a seat at the bar. The service was excellent. Some of the best we have experienced on this trip to the city. So friendly and helpful. And the quantity and quality of beer in this bar is excellent. We had some food at the bar and it was also lovely. So I was looking forward to visiting a second time. This was the only bar I chose to visit twice on this trip but it turned out to be a mistake. When I sat at the bar, along with maybe 6 other customers I waited about ten minutes to be acknowledged by the barmaid who was busy doing a shot of whisky and talking to another customer at length. I finally got served. Happy days. Again my wife and I had a bar snack- excellent. However when I had finished my beer the barmaid, Leya, was far too busy talking to people and strutting around to serve me another. While I waited I heard all about how she was a teacher at a top prep school in Brooklyn and about how she struggled with her French accent while auditioning for broadway. There were people drinking slowly who had half a pint left when I wanted another....needless to say they had finished and got served before me. I finally got served again. Jackpot! 3-4 minutes later leya returned to say she’d forgot what I’d ordered. It was one beer. During that time I’d watched her serve 3-4 other patrons. I couldn’t wait to get out. Upon leaving the maitre d didn’t even look up for his phone to say goodbye or thank you . So....night and day. They obviously have the second string working in the daytime but if you go at night it is 5 star.

Delicious!

By watercrown |

We stopped by here for dinner before our show at the Minskoff Theatre and we were running a bit late so we had to rush off. However the service is great and the food is just delicious despite being small portions. Which is good for us because we're small eaters! If you're really hungry, you should definitely get an appetiser with a main course. It would be just the right amount. I recommend the Ancho Baby Back Ribs and the Cedar Smoked Pork Chop. I'm not a fan of beer but they also serve great cocktails. I particularly liked the Mezcal Firing Squad.

Good beers

By Shereen S |

They have a wide selection of beers, specifically IPA/ ALE varieties I highly recommend trying their “Other Half Green City” beer specially if u r not American, it has a very distinguished flavor

Got really lucky. This place was great. The decor was fun, the good delicious, and the service was exceptional. The prices were reasonable for NY. Well worth the time & money.

Roasted Tomato Soup

Great place in midtown. Popped in for some cocktails and a quick bite. Very busy but friendly and efficient staff. Huge selection of beers and craft cocktails with a nice menu.

Snack at the Bar

By Anthony B |

Had a great evening - with a few choice beers with some pork spare ribs. Waitress was chatty and helpful - she knew her beers. I shall be going back !

Good bar for beers, food and sport.

By Rob |

Really nice bar that has a good New York bar vibe. A must if you want to watch sport as it has HUGE tV screens every where. Massive selection of beers - beware some are very strong. Food was good, not the best but portion sizes were modest so a good place if you don’t like big meals.

Fab!

By Madeleine S |

What a cracking bar. Excellent service - effortlessly cool. Well organised. Beautiful food. I had a selection of small plates. Great ingredients, fresh and sophisticated presentation. Very busy and wonderful atmosphere. Extensive drinks menu like nowhere else. I totally rate this place.

great place to grab a bite before the garden

By emily s |

Close to Madison Square Garden. Great burger!!!! The beer menu is outstanding. The interior is fun and live music too! Kid friendly and good menu options. Quality food and not bad prices. Easy place to get in and out and on to your event.

Sports Bar for the Grown and Subdued Crowd

By Barbjune |

We decided to take "a break" from our vacation to enjoy some Sunday football. Based on some reviews and our first choice being packed, we landed at this location. It was a positive experience thus the rating of 4. We set at the bar and Ben, the bartender, was great. We had access to multiple football games. They had a great food and drink deal that included bottomless Mimosas and other drinks for 1.5 hours. The only hiccup is that the atmosphere is very subdued and not typical of a sports bar. If you want a chill vibe to watch the game then you can't go wrong. My burger and fries were tasty.

Cool place, good food

By Ken |

Came here on a Sunday and caught their Sunday brunch offering. I had the steak and egg sandwich, wife had chicken sandwich, and teens split a macaroni and cheese appetizer and 14 Thai chili wings. Our whole group have this place 4 stars, Fry's were excellent too.

Great Atmosphere, LOTS of beer to pick from

By John A |

I stopped here for a few beers and to watch a football game on Sunday. It was lively but not too packed. There were half a dozen games on. The draft and bottled beer selection was extensive and the people and bartenders were very friendly. I didn't try the food but it looked good.

Traditional

By Thunderberg |

The District Tap House is a very traditional kind of bar, but with a nice selection of beers on tap. The interior is dark, spacious and cosy, with comfortable bar stools …which means you could easily stay there for quite some time.

Brunch with a baby

By Elen C |

Great atmosphere, fast service with a smile, delicious food, unique options and am amazing beer menu! The tomato soup was served chilled with a beautiful smokey hint, the finger limeade was crisp and fresh, and the salmon burger was fresh with a hint of spice in the sauce. Options for vegetarians were nice too.

Better than your average pub

By Brian S |

Walked in on a Thursday at midnight. Ordered several for items from the menu to go with my watermelon draught, including chicken tacos, tuna tartare, grilled tuna, duck fat fries, and beet root salad. All good was surprisingly good. It came out very fast (the were only 10 or so customers) and it was worth the money. Would recommend going there for late night eats and American sized 16oz pints near Madison Square Garden.

Love this place!

By John R |

Great beer, great food, great people! This is a great spot off the beaten path, not a chain, not anything you would find anywhere else. The Duck Fat Fries are to die for and the District Burger is awesome. Friendly and helpful staff that will provide taste after taste of the 60 beers they have on tap until you find one you will enjoy. I have been here before and will come back again!

Very Disappointed

By Dennis D |

I had expected it to be better than it was, service was fine décor as well, but the burger was just a disappointment, Sorry to say that I won't return there are far too may good pubs in the City

Good food and drink

By Jon K |

Found this restaurant on Yelp and was not disappointed! Staff was knowledgeable about food and beverages and friendly. Had a flight and the Cedar Plank Pork Chop, highly recommended. Definitely on the short list of places to visit when I am in town.

Duck Fat Fries!

By Scott G |

I've stayed on this side of midtown several times and never noticed the District Tap House. It's on 38th between 7th and 8th Avenue, which doesn't appear to have a lot of lively spots (so it's easy to miss). Stopped in on a Sunday night, very quiet. Sat at the bar, service was so-so. Very good draught beer selection, as well as bottles and cans. Had the Gun Hill IPA which was nice. Ordered the sliders (blah) and the Duck Fat Fries (YUM!). A few TVs but wouldn't call it a sports pub. Might give it another shot, but would try something other than the sliders.

Great post theatre eats!

By djodo |

We made reservations as a party of 6 for post a Saturday matinee (War Paint which was wonderful!). The location is perfect, within walking distance of the theaters and without the chaotic nature of being on restaurant row,. The menu having many tapas style dishes was perfect for everyone to have a taste of a wide variety, and then have their own plate . Service could not have been friendlier and really helpful in ordering.Big shout outs to the lamb meatballs, falafel, short ribs, calamari and burger, nothing disappoints! It was really a perfect spot to share a meal and some great beers and wine. Everyone can find something to enjoy from the wide array of delicious items. They included the gratuity as we were a party of 6 and we were reminded that it was on the bill when we got our check, which was a nice touch.

Wonderful good and atmosphere

By Laura S |

We stopped in for brunch. It's such a lovely cosy atmosphere, very welcoming. The food, especially the sprouts, was amazing. They catered really well for the children as well. Really friendly, really accommodating. Definitely recommend.

Great Food

By andrewDublin_Ireland |

Very tasty and lots of options. Great range of drafts and bottles too. Definitely recommend District Tap House

How about a full pour?

By jazzy6991 |

The beer selection was good, from craft to shock top. No complaints there. My complaint was the grumpy bartender who didn't fill my pint. Really? Are you lazy or ripping me off?

Nice Way to Sample NYC Brews

By Cory A |

We popped in for lunch looking to sample some local craft beer, and we made an excellent choice! A big draft selection - thanks to our server for making the choices for us - and a delicious meal. The hanger steak sandwich was good, but the fries cooked in duck fat put the meal over the top. The tap list is a little Brooklyn heavy, if you’re hoping to taste all five boroughs, but perhaps that’s just where the action is.

Top Notch Ales / Above Average Pub Fare

By Mister Sterling |

District Tap House is a big, white collar worker pub in midtown west. It is big and wonderfully paneled. But it is by no means stuffy. Friendly staff and a massive beer selection (50 taps and almost as many bottles and cans) make this a cathedral for beer lovers. A near gastropub menu rounds it out as a midtown pub to visit again and again. It's quiet on weekends, and incredibly busy after 6pm on weekdays. Get there early if you want a seat. District is ideal for pre-theater, after work, or dining solo during off-peak periods.

District Tap House, West 38th Street, New York...A Safe Bet on the Roulette Wheel

By Tom B |

We were rushing along West 38th Street in search of another restaurant when we stumbled upon the District Tap House. Looking in, the place seemed inviting enough. Not wanting to dismiss our hotel concierge's suggestion, we hurried along until we found the restaurant she'd recommended. Suddenly, the District Tap House seemed like a great idea and we hurried back, gratefully taking one of the few tables available. The place was packed. The booth we were given had a full view of the bar and its blaring televisions. If this wasn't enough, the booth came with its own tiny flat screen television mounted to the wall. Some members of our party wanted to watch sports, so this proved ideal for them. I quickly turned my attention to beer. I tried the Black Hog Coffee Milk Stout ($8.00) which they had on a nitrogen pouring system so that the texture was creamy and uniform. A most pleasing beer. I followed up with a saison which was good, but not nearly as distinctive. The menu turned out to be essentially tapas, with small portions for just about every dish. Many of them sounded tempting, like lamb chops or paella. Wanting something a bit more, we almost inexplicably turned to the burger for sustenance. It was a good one, with good meat that wasn't overcooked and a decent bun. I would definitely return to this place for another visit to try other things on the menu. Service was efficient and friendly, especially so since we visited on a busy night. overall, the place seems like a good bet in an area full of restaurants that might not offer such good odds.

Cool bar with a lively atmosphere

By Prithi D |

Came here because it was near our hotel after we had a long flight. Place was lively, with lots of people. Did not have a res and literally got the last table in the back which was perfect for us (on a Tuesday around 9 pm). Wanted to share a couple things and call it a night. We split the meatballs and chicken sandwich. The meatballs were fantastic with the crusty bread slices. The chicken sandwich was not what we were expecting...almost like a deli sandwich with thick sliced deli chicken. It was served on a bun but did not hold well togther. Service was great and it was a nice light meal to close our night out with!

Great beer and food

By Luciano Martins Costa |

Typical American pub with excellent local beers and delicious food. I recommend chicken wings and tacos, they're amazing. And ask the beer rule (flight) where you taste 4 different beers that you choose from the menu in small doses.

Surprise

By Jacco B |

Dining here turned out to be a positive surprise. Staff is friendly. Nice atmosphere. Enormous list of beers on tap including my favourite: Evil Twin. The foodmenu is extensive with many things to chose from. Prices are friendly with most expensive entree at 16 USD. But even more important; it all tasted well. Would absolutely go back to this place.

Lively bar in a great location

By IanD9 |

Staff were great, atmosphere was excellent, good food and drink. What else do you want from a review? This is a bear to try if in the area from a traveller in NY for just 2 days.

Attentive staff; good food

By DayTrip798217 |

This is a reasonably priced midtown restaurant that has good, tasty pub food and lots of beer on tap. Great place to hang with friends and/or to catch a game. TV screens are at the booth tables. Staff was friendly and efficient and kept us informed of our drink, food, and payment progress.

Good food and old world atmosphere

By Wolfshadow |

Looking for a stop for lunch on the way to our matinee from the train station and found District Tap House. For a summer Saturday it was pretty quiet which means we had great service! Sandwiches were good and reasonably priced. This is obviously a sports bar with the number of TVs around. However wasn't the reason we picked it. We did like the old world feel of the bar.

Great Location and Great Service

By SaraSaraL1 |

Perfect for before or after any event. Great to watch sports games. Bartenders are quick and attentive and keep the cocktails glowing. The good is good quality and the menu has a variety of options. Have been a repeat customer and will be back when in the area.

Amazing beer selection

By José C |

Great place, super friendly bartender and amazing beer. We went there with my girlfriend to have a few beers, tried several of them and went back to our hotel. Bartender was super helpful to understand the best beer to order depending on our taste. We also had a Manzarita. Try it, you won’t regret it.

Tasty Eclectic menu and friendly staff within walking distance to Madison Square Garden

By DiBattista |

District Tap House was our 4th stop trying to find a nice bar/restaurant while the kids were at Madison Square Garden for a concert. 1st stop Nick and Stef’s - a bust- overpriced, loud and unfriendly- we left after an app and drinks- tried across the street- The Local- crazy loud and crowded- same with Celtic Pub.. so happy we found District! Menu- highly recommend the striped bass- portions are small, but so is price. Braised short ribs also wonderful. Wine and beer list- very nice! Ben the bartender was wonderful, super personality and took the time to talk to everyone while being efficient at the same time. Thanks Ben!

Gorgeous food. Great choice of beers.

By D W |

Gorgeous food - particularly the hummus and the spinach dip. Great, lively and friendly atmosphere. Not pretentious and a good range of beers.

The food is fantastic !! What a nice surprise.

By KPNY_11 |

We went there for Happy hour - but the bar was so packed and the male bartender ignored us - so we waited 15 minutes - never got drinks and left. The prices at Happy Hour were good for midtown Manhattan, unfortunately - we never got a taste. We went to another bar for drinks and decided to give District Tap House another try for dinner that same night. We were glad we came back. We had the salmon, Quinoa salad was awesome, Brussels sprouts - fab and butterfly shrimp. All very tasty. Can't wait to return again.

Not our sort of place

By Daniel B |

I love a good pub. I enjoy music, beer, good food and service. We went here at happy hour. We had 2 rounds of 2 drinks which should have cost exactly the same, they were $4 different but, when we realised, we would have had to wait another 15 minutes to get the barman’s attention. Ridiculously understaffed. We were going to eat there but the thought of another long wait to order together with the unappealing looking food put us off. To order you have to stand at the bar breathing over all the punters sitting there. Social distancing? You’ve got to be kidding.

Beer lovers delight

By Plewdawg |

This is a very good all purpose bar, food, cocktails, and especially beer. Over 50 taps plus a large number of can and bottles. Beer menu is nicely organized and easy to navigate. Unlike several other local bars, the are willing to do flights of 4oz tasters. Great way to sample a variety of very highly rated beers. Beer prices are reasonable for NYC. Would highly recommend if you like good beer.

Happy Hour Find

By Laura K |

Was in NY for a long weekend, got lucky and found this place during Happy Hour. Great selection of beers and atmosphere. Bartender was friendly and helpful with drink suggestions. Would go again!

Great pre-concert stop

By fatdrunkandfancy |

Stopped in before the Peter Gabriel concert at the Garden. Huge beer selection, love the Sixpoint Puff DIPA. Duck fat fries were addictive! Burger was great, something special about the bacon. Also solid starters were the lamb meatballs and the grilled octopus. Rest of the menu looked delicious too. Mostly small plates, but perfect size to share. Service was also quick and attentive during happy hour, always a plus.

Great food, great atmosphere

By Dorothy M |

My husband, daughter and I wanted to meet our nephew and his girlfriend at a restaurant near the theater district. My nephew found this little gem by doing some Internet research. Much to my surprise, this wasn't just a place with good bar food. It was downright gourmet food. Excellent cooking, excellent service, and they even had the best nonalcoholic beer I ever had. (Others in the party enjoyed the alcoholic varieties, too.) The ambience is of an historic pub, but the food is fine dining. The waitstaff was solicitous of our need to get to our play and checked the time it would take to get our desserts. Then they brought our check promptly. Would happily go back again.

Happy Hour Pre-show dinner Friday night

By Sandy P |

We were staying at a hotel on 37 street and stumbled across this gen on our way to a show. It was raining and we jumped in for a drink at happy hour. The service, ambiance, and food and cocktail selections made it obvious for us to stay for a bite. I had two very different house cocktails, one with tequila and one with cucumber vodka for 7.00 each. Both were good. Switch to wine when we ordered a burger and salad. The food was fantastic. The price for a burger was 16.00. Perfect night for a predinner show on getting the weekend started in NYC.

Dark, unfriendly place with below average food!

By Mike B |

Arrived here having been recommended by a friend. The place is dark beyond belief. Bring a torch to read the menu! Accosted by the hostess who would "find us a table". We'd already seen a booth which we would have enjoyed sitting in but, oh no, we had to sit on high stools at the back of the restaurant, not very comfortable for my elderly mother- in-law. By the time we left, the booth we would have liked was still unoccupied, thank you, unhelpful hostess! The beers we ordered were flat and undrinkable. Apparently the "gas may have gone". The replacements were just the same. The food was decidedly average. I'd never go there again and would seriously advise the hostess to look at another career, perhaps traffic cop would suit her - useless!!

Great beer and food

By RichCook1991 |

Originally just came for beer, but ended up eating. Food was brilliant, tacos were brilliant and the wings were so good. I love my beer and the choice was unbelievable, so much choice and clearly listed. Service was brilliant and never left with an empty glass!! Top class find and would recommend.

Good beer, average food

By to3moss |

Not much in the neighborhood so a very welcome addition. Good selection of draft beers and tons of bottled beer make it a solid Garment District watering hole. Food-wise the flavors are good but the portions are on the small size and expensive to boot. We actually ordered a second round of food for lunch since the sandwiches and accompanying sides left us all wanting a bit more. I'd rec hitting it for happy hour and apps before moving on to dinner elsewhere.

Good food at a sports bar

By 911didnotchangeme |

I was staying in a new-ish hotel in a still-seedy neighborhood in the garment district of Manhattan. After walking around a while while shopping I went back to my room and spent a long time online trying to find a place to eat. Finally settled on District Tap House, although it sounded like -- and is -- essentially a sports bar. If you like beer, you will be in heaven here. BUT, my Bloody Mary was excellent, as good as I would make at home. And the hanger steak and Brussles sprouts I ordered exceeded all my expectations. Tender beef, good sauce, delicious and interesting sprouts. The place was busy and the friendly, professional server was working her b--- off. My drink and food arrived timely, acurately and graciously, delivered by a runner who made a point of assuring all was well at my table. Pricey, but not too out of whack. I'll make a point of coming here again, from my neighborhood or when guests are in town.

Good craftbeer place with excellent food

By kalexh |

I really can't give this place less than 5 stars. It is perfect for what it is. Excellent food, good beer and very good staff. We where in here often during our 11 night stay in NYC and we always had a good time enjoying the great beer selection. Often we also had something to eat and the food here is a few notches above other "taprooms" we've visited in this city (and we've visited many of them). Recommended!

Glad we stumbled upon this!

By lilodashort1 |

We were hungry after flying in late and searched for something with good food and drinks. The cocktails were delicious and reasonably priced. We went with the tapas style of eating for 4 girls and everything we ordered was delicious! Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and the beet salad! Service was also amazing even though they were busy.

Great beer selection

By Rebeka L |

They have a wonderful beer selection and they do flights. The atmosphere is a little snobby ( by that I mean the people that hang out there) But the beer selection is great!

Sad lunch

By LeeMacL |

Went for what I thought would be a nice lunch but was I wrong. Ordered the short rib with root vegetables pot pie. For 15 dollars it would not satisfy a very small appetite and came with nothing. "Pie" crust was a burned disk. Root vegetables were the usual potatoes and carrots and since when is celery a root veg? If there were any other roots I'd be hard pressed to tell you what!

Perfect spot for a quick bite and good beer

By pampart |

Nice pub. Excellent beer selection. Conveniently located between Penn Station and Times Square. Food was good. Something for everyone in our party.

A bit disappointed...

By buckhall |

I usually refrain from leaving anything that doesn't rise to the level of a 4. If it warrants a 3 or less, I typically won't leave feedback. This is more about service and ambivalence to us as customers than it was about the food. First, the hummus was good, the duck fat fries were very good. Next, the District Burger was ok, serviceable but nothing special. It was smaller than I expected. My son had the wings...and he's a connoisseur of wings, and they were good. My daughter had the grilled chicken sandwich, also good. The waitress seemed at best indifferent and ditched us when an 8-top was seated in her section. It was a slow Thursday lunch and the place was mostly empty. The bar back/bartender finished our service (she was very nice) and a manager was "not available." I hope we caught them on a bad day and it seems like a great atmosphere, but not on this day.

A welcomed surprise!

By Peter L |

A friend and I stopped in here after seeing a movie (Avengers:Ultron) on 42nd street. We walked a few blocks and found this place (via a text from my wife with suggestions- yes rock star). They had a great beer menu and the food sounded great. So we ordered a few drinks and a few items off the menu to try. The octopus was good, the chicken tacos were also very delicious. So, I look forward to the next visit to try some more of the menu.

Extensive beer menu

By L H |

Decent bar food in the theater district, huge selection of beer (including several lambics - hard to find), nice staff, good service.

Nice

By GrandeSanJuan |

Great bar with TVs, sort of a sports bar. But you do not feel like in a sports bar. The bar is nice, the appetizers are good, the service is good and the place has a great atmosphere. The tuna tartar is really good but the wings are not (unless you like them baked, not crispy). All in all, it is a nice place to have a drink and nibble on something.

Beer that isnt see through and fizzy

By Nick H |

So my visit to the East Coast was full of cold fizzy see through beer, until I found this place. great beer selection, very knowledgeable bar staff. A welcome sanctuary in the garment district for beer snobs.

Good Sports Bar!

By LucyTay1995 |

We had dinner one night in the sports bar. We didn't have a reservation so we weren't able to sit in the restaurant, but we were able to sit in the bar area which suited us fine. There was no table service and we had to order at the bar, and they then bought the food to us. There was a wide selection of drinks available. I had the grilled cheese which was great and my boyfriend had one of the meat sandwiches - both came with fries. The menu is small but the food was great and suited us fine for dinner. There was not too many people eating, so I would assume this is normally somewhere people come to drink.

Popped in for a beer

By Shana S |

I had time to kill before my friend was going to be done with his meeting, so I was out and about taking in a few sights. The chalkboard out front pulled me in - Delirium Tremens ON DRAFT. Two beers and an appetizer later I was hooked. The bartenders were friendly (and for midtown that is saying something!). The appetizer I had was a tuna tartare - really fantastic. I enjoyed myself so much that I returned the next night and brought my friend (strict vegetarian) - I had an Old Fashioned (very well made) and my friend had a margarita rocks...we had a couple of starters before we headed out to our dinner. The warm Spanish olives were a highlight.

Pub Grub

By Nomad120452 |

A great range of beer and attentive service. Good place if you fancy watching a game on the big screen. Food tasty and typical American fare, haut cuisine it is not.

Excellent late evening meal and friendly service

By Gary G |

After a long day of walking the city with my son, had a delicious, light meal with friendly service in a nice, casual pub atmosphere. Although known for its craft beers and whiskey bar, we were delightfully surprised with the quality and portions of the "tapas" type dishes offered. The Brussels Sprouts (who knew?) and the lamb chops were especially tasty! Kudos to the chef and to the concierge at the hotel for suggesting this spot. Next time, will dive into the HUGE menu of craft, draft beers... and after dinner, will sample some of the whiskey offerings!

Great beer selection and delicious food

By Craig-World-Travelle |

They have about 50 beers on tap and more in the bottle. They have about 10 stouts and porters which is very unusual but I love it. I really enjoy being able to order 4oz glasses so I can try all the beers that sound interesting. Lots of local beers from NYC and state. Had Brussel Sprouts appetizer and chicken main dish and everything was delicious. Service was great. Fast and friendly service. Can’t wait to come back and try some other beers and dishes. It was a bit noisy making conversation tough.

A pub that where the locals go!

By AT |

Yep, great burgers and good fries. Good suggestion on the beer! Looking around the place we also got the impression that this is one of the places where the locals get together. Yes, we are tourists, but we felt a little less so here. A relaxed unhurried atmosphere!

Good Craft Beer and Small Plates

By jann |

Traveling with someone who is a craft beer aficionado let us to the District Tap House, which had the best local craft beer selection we could find in the area. The small plates were also excellent. We shared several small plates; brussels sprouts (technically a side) was probably our favorite. It is a pub atmosphere, with tables close together and a fairly high noise level, but table service was friendly and efficient.

Nice lunch

By Tracie S |

Enjoyed a nice work lunch here today. Great location in midtown, a little east b/t 7-8th Aves, but very convenient to Penn Station and times square. Had the kale and spinach salad with grilled chicken. My colleague enjoyed his pork sandwich. Was there early so gad lots of attention from the staff and meals were prepared very quickly. Didn't drink alcohol, but what a fabulous bar menu. Reasonable prices for lunch in NYC. Would definitely return.

Excellent place with refined manu

By Antonio D |

Me and my gf popped in to try a typical place in NYC. District Tap House satisfied all our expectations: cured place, wide menu (excellent beers list!), and all the dishes we ordered were well presented and tasty. It is quite expensive but overall we can’t say the quality/price ratio was unfair. Restrooms cleaned btw, which is an aspect many places forget to pay attention to... Warmly recommended!

Excellent Craft Beer Selection

By Robert F |

Located in mid-town, a five minute walk from Times Square, District Tap House is a real find. They have a well curated menu of craft beers with some real winners on it. The thing I found most interesting was the food menu. It was not your usual pub fare and even had some dishes that delighted my wife who tends toward vegetarian. I had the calamari which was not your typical deep fried breaded variety and was delicious. I followed this with baby back ribs. I had the Gaffel Kolsch, a wonderful IPA - the name of which escapes me - and the Young's Double Chocolate Stout. If you are going with a child, they don't have a kids menu and if your kid is picky, this might be a problem. By the way, it is definitely a sports bar.

Food is great!

By supergirl717 |

My friend and I were sitting on the bar. The music was just right... We ordered the baby kale salad and Brussels sprouts and everything was made to perfection. Place feels very spacey and pleasant.

Good food great choice of beers and very helpful staff

By nigel_underwood |

Visited here 9th May 2018 it was very busy. But, I was told there would be a wait of about 25 minutes just time to get a beer I was kept informed re my table and in a short time I was sat down. Thanks to internet already knew my order. Food came it was superb. My only slight complaint was the beer menu was extensive and too small to read but I left my beer choice to the waitress she came up trumps every time Lovely bar great atmosphere. Well worth a visit great food beer and very helpful staff

Good Food, Service Above & Beyond

By B K K |

I was visiting NYC with my son and daughter-in-law. We showed up for our reservation only to realize that I'd made it for the following evening. The place was packed of course and I'd seen they had a long list of reservations. Amazingly they juggled things around and made room for us. It really bailed us (and me) out! The food and beer were solid and reasonably priced. The lighting was pretty low, I saw some guests lighting their menus using their cell phones. Overall we greatly enjoyed our meal!

Welcome to New York

By Talitha B |

We were jet lagged and craving a good burger and a beer - District Tap House did not disappoint. We had their wings and French toast too and the dishes were all well presented and flavourful!

Great little place!

By jessicapG1242PS |

Wanted something light, and we were totally satisfied with what we got here. The small plates were perfect for sharing. My butterfly shrimp were beautifully done. Only complaint was the hummus was a bit different, not bad, just not to my taste.

Nice sports bar

By Laura C |

It was a nice place to go for lunch and a couple beers. It's a chilled out environment with lots of different channels to watch for sports.

Surprisingly good menu and food!

By NYMetroMom |

It doesn't look like much from the outside and it's buried in the garment district between wholesale shops selling feathers, trim and pearls. But they must have a really good chef because the food is outstanding. You have to try the "duck fat fries" which are made with duck fat as some part of the ingredient list. The duck fat adds some element to the flavor and crispiness that is awesome. We also order goat cheese croquettes - which sound strange but they were so good. Four balls of goat cheese and herbs fried gently. they are delicate in flavor yet very tasty. Almost fluffy on the insdie and crispy on the outside. Another item we ordered that defies logic are brussel sprouts with apples and crème fraiche. they were cut in half and crispy on the flat side - then tossed with apples and pistachios with the crème fraiche on the bottom of the dish. Although we were practically full we had order entrees too. We all had grilled salmon - mine was on a salad. The salmon was perfect and the salad was amazing - with greens I had never seen and a light balsamic dressing that we perfect. The two other people I was with had salmon with quinoa I think. We were all really impressed with the food.

Great beer list....really good cheeseburger

By TERMINATOR1959 |

Solid place. Large beer list. I had the Burger which has bacon and cheese and comes with Duck Fat Fries ... was really good. Wish the Fries had been crisper though. I hate mushy fries and even though they tasted great the fries were borderline mushy. It is the only thing that kept me from giving 5 stars. Mostly small plates and a couple things like the burger you can call an "Entree" Saw several other things on the menu I want to try and I will definately be back to sample them if I can talk myself out of that great bacon cheeseburger.

wings to die for

By scrooge123 |

We stopped in here on our way to a show and the food and service were very good. The portions are small so you pick two .. if you like and the wings I had were quite possibly as good as I have ever had. Staff was great and service was quick.

Nice and trendy

By Vladimir P |

Nice and trendy place where you can drink a lot of beers and eat nive food. Service, ambiance and music up to the level. Book early since place is not thatbig and popular. Very good!

Great beer list, good lunch

By AGB |

Stopped here for lunch and a quick beer. It is cozy and nice. Sandwiches were a little strange but hit the spot. We'd come again. The duck fat fries are really good and the non-alcoholic drinks were great too. It's a nice easy place !

burger and Duck fat fries ....excellent.

By Frank D |

burger was really very good and fries were unreal...don't miss it!! Great place great atmosphere . Terrible waitress. But food made up for it. If in that part of town, I recommend.

Great bar.

Popped in here on a Saturday night after burgers across the road. Nabbed spots at the bar and settled in. Really good bar staff, lots of sport on the tv monitors and it looked like a good area toward the back of the bar for food. Terrific beer menu, one of the longest and best I have seen in a while. Also a bonus that it stays open quite late.

Horrible service, ruined the food

By TeoBella |

The Mets were playing in the world series, it was a Friday night, so why did our waitress act like we were inconveniencing her? We were seated immediately, but it took 20 minutes before anyone even asked for a drink order, then my martini was delivered in a champagne glass. Don't even have words for that one. Another 15 minutes and remaining drink orders were taken and we insisted on ordering the food at the same time. the food came before the drinks and I was never asked if I wanted a second martini. The food comes in small portions, like really small, but was decent. Even the person delivering the food was very rude when we asked which dish was what. I will never understand why a restaurant or bar staff gets upset when it is busy on a Friday night, number one they should be thankful and number two, it should be expected.

Order the Brussels sprouts

By ACTA |

I've eaten here twice, and both times had an excellent meal. In fact, I believe I had the same thing both times (for lunch): salmon, with a side order of Brussels sprouts. The only Brussels sprouts I've had that were as good as these were at a restaurant in Brooklyn that, sadly, I don't remember the name of. The salmon was cooked perfectly with some green and yellow beans in a citrusy vinaigrette as an accompaniment. Service was excellent.

Great atmosphere and shared plates!

I was visiting for a trade show and met a buddy who lives in the area, he suggested meeting there for dinner which was a short walk from my hotel at times square. I started with a dirty titos martini which was well balanced. We shared several plates which were all very good. Bacon wrapped dates, scallops, lamb meatballs, and the brussel sprouts were all amazing. Warm friendly staff and a great atmosphere!

nothing but praise

I came here back in February during NYC Beer Week (also my 1st trip to NY). My husband and I had been walking around on an adventure all day and we were starving. As luck would have it, we couldn't locate the restaurant we were mapping and it started drizzling when we spotted District Tap House. It was late afternoon and not packed at all. I imagine we came in between their rush hours of lunch and dinner because it was filling up fast by the time we left. They actually sat us in a nice booth in the far back, instead of the cluttered tables up front. The trip downstairs to the restroom was also a fun little adventure. But on to the good stuff! First, I would like to take the time to acknowledge the staff's professional presence. I had a new girl training, but that did not effect her promptness and knowledge. The only mistake she made was that she let us order the Szechaun Pepper hot wings without a warning LOL! Apparently these are only available during Beer Week so we figured why the hell not?? Beer and wings is never a bad choice. These wings, however, were about 9 out of 10 HOT HOT HOT! We weren't about to sissy out so we asked for some blue cheese (apparently not stocked in this restaurant) but they did go out of their way to get us some ranch instead to cool it down. The bartender at the main bar came over and introduced himself and apologized for the wings (normally they give an honest warning but the new girl was not aware since it is only a Beer Week menu item). Like i said, no biggie, but the attention to us was appreciated. We also ordered the goat cheese croquettes and duck fat fries. The croquettes were delicious and fried perfectly. We are from Miami so it takes a lot to give a croquette a stamp of approval. The accompanying pepper honey sauce only made them more delectable. Duck fat fries - I mean what is there to say?? DUCK.FAT.FRIES = party in your mouth! Finally, the beer selection is what will bring me back. They have an extensive list of beers to choose from, a lot being locally sourced, which I love even more. The aforementioned bartender did an amazing job of suggesting our next beers to try after our 1st round order. This was probably my favorite dining experience while in New York. It was upscale but not overpriced or pretentious. The food hooked us in and the staff sealed the deal. Cannot wait to come back next year and start a tradition with the hubby! Thanks for the great memories guys!

Reasonable selection of beers

This bar had a reasonable selection of beers, but not the best selection we had on our holiday. Very noisy and busy (like most NY bars) but less atmosphere than others. Food okay.

Small Plates, Big Taste

By Explorers377 |

Made a reservation for dinner at District Tap as it was a reasonable walking distance to the theater district. I didn't know that the menu was mostly small plates (tapas style) but was pleased to hear it as were weren't super hungry. We shared one of the wing specials (chipotle) and the mac and cheese. Wings were good, M&C was off the charts - highly recommend! We were both impressed with the tap selections - I estimated as least 75 available brews. My husband would have loved to try a flight - maybe next time. Service was great. Would be happy to return.

Great drinks menu, superb food

By Rose R |

We stumbed upon this place in the early afternoon and went in for a beer. The drinks menu is substantial with lots of beers and cocktails to choose from. The tapas menu is equally as amazing. We ended up staying all night! Great spot!

Gathering family and friends after dinner.

By Cindy B |

We were looking for a location near Times Square but not in Times Square to meet for drinks after dinner. The District Tap House was perfect. It accommodated our group of 8 and gave us an opportunity to connect with family and friends. Perfect!

Great food and beer - will return

By james2n |

The Tap House is a mid scale restaurant with an interesting menu and a great selection of beers. Service was very good. Be aware when you order some items on the menu that the portion sizes are not particularly large. The dates wrapped in bacon were outstanding. There are other interesting items on the menu definitely worth trying.

Very pleased

I got a seat at the bar the beer selection is great and the bartender recommended the pork chop and Brussels sprouts. Outstanding.

60TH BIRTHDAY BREWED RIGHT

By oldmanblues |

definitely one of those hidden gems that you find by sheer accident - and well worth the efforts - celebrated by 60th birthday here in April , 2017 , and enjoyed the massive beer list - taps and bottles - food was very good - SPRINGTIME IN NYC NEVER TASTED SO GOOD!

Take a breather here-nice spot

By Spasister |

Great bar nibbles, nice staff and a reasonable glass of wine! The bar offers a great spot to rest your feet and catch your breath. Many beer choices but the wine selection is great too!

Stop in for a flight

By kcpafl |

The District Tap House menu looked appealing and they have a great beer list. We stopped in and had a flight with Julie the bartender. She is fantastic. Very friendly and knowledgeable about her products. She steered us in the right direction a few times. If she didn’t love the beer she would suggest a different option. Julie even gave us some advice about the other places in the area. We had such a good time that we went back for brunch. Julie was our bartender again and guided us through a few more flight choices. Food was good and the service was even better.

More for the Younger Set

By Larry M |

We enjoyed our meal here, but found the noise level not to our liking. It's a great place for younger folks to chill out after work, but don't expect a romantic setting. Service was good, and food acceptable, albeit a little on the pricy side.

Plenty of Beer!

Great selection of beers here! Definitely a great spot in midtown for a quick drink! I had a IPA and my date had a cider, both crisp and fresh!

Cheap but good beer & burger

By Scott G |

Went for a quick lunch with a couple of colleagues. Sat at the bar and were greeted by a friendly bartender. The beer & burger deal is a bargain, with some good beers on tap and the burger matching anything I've had at similar places.

Great Beer, Service, and Food

By RDCononver |

The District was the second stop on our beer tasting tour of the area around Port Authority. Manager and staff great, good selection of quality food, the chicken tacos, dries, and other appetizers were very good. Berger was slightly above average. Some of the dinners were small but priced appropriately so no complaints. Our waiter knew his beer, the team worked together well making the visit an enjoyable experience

Hidden Gem

By Steven N |

I happened upon this place when searching for somewhere to go for something to eat late after a Broadway show. Don't be put off by the location; it's up a side street with little else of note on it. The food is tapas-style (but not necessarily Spanish); you know, small plates-great for sharing at the bar if you can get a spot. If you are hungry they do burgers etc but I'd recommend the shrimp and chorizo skewers, the goat cheese croquettes and the beet salad. The roasted sprouts are amazing. Oh, if you like good brews, this is the place for you. The beer menu is massive. Being a craft beer snob, it didn't disappoint with several on tap, in bottles and cans. Barman Phil was ace. We went back the next night it was so good.
