Being invited to have dinner with family and celebrate a birthday tonight should have resulted in a wonderful evening. Service was terrible with us constantly asking for service. Our waiter was not attentive and seemed rather annoyed. The only good thing he did was recommend some dishes. We were there for almost two hours and should have received better service. The food was not hot, but warm as if it were sitting out for some time. Dishes were left on table for too long after meals were done and glasses were not filled with water at any point. We waited for over 30 minutes and asked several times for water.Sushi was ordered and after waiting for some time, were told they closed up sushi bar early. When bill was brought out, we noticed someone who appeared to be manager stand around. It would have been great to have better service and location was not busy or crowded at all. It was my first time dining there and definitely will be my last. I never made it to the upper west side location and after tonight, I don’t regret it. It’s sad that family members who invited us have been going to this place for years, only to be disappointed themselves and feeling bad for disappointing us on our first experience.

This restaurant has a very good atmosphere, great space, and a very nice menu. Great for business lunches. The Seafood Cobb salad is excellent.

I was visiting New York and had dinner here. It is quite a buzzy place but noise levels are manageable. Food, wine and service were all excellent and the prices reasonable given the quality.

My husband and I ate dinner here which was a walking distance from our Hilton Grand Central Hotel . We ordered the oust sampler however , 1 out of the 12 Oyster was foul smelling and tasted bad . The waitress readily changed it and we were not billed for that one Oyster . The linguine with little neck clams were bland and lacked flavor . The calamari which my husband ordered was very tasty . The Malbec red wine was very good . The ambiance of the restaurant was elegant , quiet and somber .

Food was good, but had to ask for everything…visited late evening with my wife and daughter…we we some of the last seated and it was clear they wanted us to wrap up asap. Food was really good, but we had to ask for drink refreshed, more water, one of our side dishes, etc.

We have been on an extended cruising holiday with a stop in New York, we had arranged to meet a family member at this place for lunch, when we got there around 1pm it was packed, but the staff at reception were great, it was no trouble for us to wait at the bar until we were ready to sit down for lunch, great menu with a big choice of seafood, the place itself is lovely with it's old charm decoration, food was served quickly and hot, really good, nice wine by the glass too, in all a good experience,

The service is excellent and reception welcoming..but I found the food lacking. French fries weren't hot, crab cake was flavorless, and so- called remoulade not real remoulade, if you know New Orleans cuisine..more like tartar sauce. Too bad. Place is cheerful and fun. Maybe rawbar would be advisable.

We went for Thanksgiving set menu. Service was great, food was very good. A very busy place a bit noisy however it all added to the night. The bar looks awesome for people able to come sit up have a drink and watch the sport on TV. Definitely worth a return visit next time.

We met friends from out of town on a Saturday night here. Location was fantastic as it's so close to Grand Central. And it was not crowded, so our server did not push us in any way to order, eat or pay faster. All good. The food was really mediocre. A Casesar salad lacked any tang, the trout on a squash puree lacked any flavor at all.

Great place for happy hour drinks and oysters in the city. Enjoyed 1st visit in January while traveling from ATL with my son. Then took my husband back in September. Great service, great prices, delicious food, attentive staff. The restaurant and rest rooms are spotless. If that’s not enough, the best part is you’ll always meet interesting people at the bar! Can’t wait to go back!

Large seafood oriented restaurant, has a sit down area and a counter at the bar option . Apparently popular for business lunches. Pleasant service and staff. Unfortunately my dish of mussels marinière was a miss probably due to the sauce that overwhelmed the taste of the mussels. I was offered a free coffee or dessert to compensate.

Week prior to Christmas 2021, i ordered take out for 2. Shrimp was served on extreme water logged toasted bread as if it were precooked. lobster roll lacked any taste, french fries were soggy and were precooked. Had i received this food at a table in the restaurant, I would have returned each. I notified management and was totally ignored. This is not an inexpensive restaurant, and i would caution all not to spend any amount of money on such a mediocre product.

Docks has a $55 clam bake special on Sunday and Monday nights, including soup or salad, a 2 lb lobster or 2 one-pound lobsters with clams, mussels, corn and potatoes... plus dessert. The salad was very good and the 2 lb lobsters were meaty and sweet. The server left something to be desired though.. not the best but all 6 of us enjoyed our dinners. This special was a good value. However, if you order a la carte off the menu, the food is pricey, especially the lobsters (2 one-pounders for $88!!!). One person had a Royal Plateau seafood tower that was $74, so I could not say that the restaurant is a good value other than this special and it looks like they have a good happy hour menu and restaurant week prix fixe specials for lunch ($26) and dinner ($42). They also have a $44 prix fixe menu Tues-Sat.

Great quality food with knowledgable attentative staff. The menu was varied and the ambience sophisticated. The service was not hurried and friendly.

This was probably the 10th time I have eaten at Dock's and I have never been disappointed. The service is very attentive. The food is prepared to the highest standards. The atmosphere is very French. I had the file de sole and it was done perfectly. My wife had the crab cakes and she rated them highly but not the best. The calamari appetizer was consumed very quickly - it was so delicious.

Awesome place, awesome food! Went here for a group dinner and it didn’t disappoint, lobster roll was truly great and very tasty. In the restaurant was live jazz and service as well whole atmosphere were really good. Highly recommended!

At least once or twice a month was the standard to be out and about in the city but I’ve stayed away (and missed it dearly) for almost two years due to Covid-19. Quite frankly, I was nervous to embrace the new norm. Docks was a anxiety-quelling first step into frolicking indoors again in NYC. It was comforting to see the hostess actively checking vaccination status. Bring your facts. The mid-week happy hour menu was complete. There was plenty of space at the bar to socially distance from others. The crisp, cold rose paired well with oysters du jour and Docks shrimp. Yum! I wanted more, I added the spicy tuna roll and another rose to the mix. Why not! We had an event to get to, so, my husband and I agreed on a return date-night visit soon to explore the regular menu. I’m looking forward to more deliciously fresh seafood.

Docks is a vibrant bar restaurant which celebrates seafood. We had vongole pasta and lobster/crab salad and loved both. The oyster selection is huge and we loved the tasting platter. Service was friendly and the night was good value

This a NY seafood institution for many years. It is very busy and I recommend to reserve your table. The service is detailed and extremely fast. The seafood is very fresh and a really large choice of food.

Found the restaurant by chance. What a treat. Jazz combo on Sunday afternoon. Oyster sampler a hit. Clam chowder delicious. Our party of 7 each had something different. All great.

Very poor service. I had to get up from my table and pour my own water. The waiter only spoke to us twice I. The hour and a half we were there. Before the food was served he asked if we needed anything ( both of our waters were empty ). I asked for a refill. He never came back. Finally after 15 -20 min into our meal we had to have it so I got up went to the service station and got it myself. Two employees saw me do this and no comment. Food was ok.

One of my new favorite restaurants in nyc. Delicious food, service could use a little improvement, but in general ok. Had delicious Dover sole. Will return

When you're in the mood for an old school NYC seafood restaurant with an updated menu, this is a good call. Not as noisy as the Oyster Bar, not as trendy as Lure Bar. Not a currently trendy neighborhood, but a close walk to Grand Central. The food is fresh, nicely presented, and the service is really good.

I was there with my family on Friday and i had one of the best truffle fries and steak a person can ask gor .

As many seafood people know, one of the treasures of the east coast is Blue Crab. Unlike its fibrous west coast cousin Dungeness crab, Blue crab meat is firm and sweet. A crab cake made with Blue crab is something special to eat and many eateries from Baltimore to Boston have made their reputation on this particular delicacy. I stopped into Docks for drinks and dinner with a colleague and when I saw Blue crab cakes on the menu I jumped at the chance to enjoy them. What a mistake. Even though the menu clearly states "Blue Crab Crabcakes" they were in fact the same mushy things you get on the west coast. There were a few solid bits of blue crab inside but most of it was the cheaper variety. The server was unapologetic, perhaps because she didn't know the difference anyway. Clearly many people have had good meals here but for me, this was not one of them. If you're a fan of Maryland style Blue Crabcakes, don't stop here.

We were visiting NYC over the Thanksgiving holiday and Docks Oyster Bar was the perfect venue for Thanksgiving dinner. The restaurant is very impressive and so busy. The menu was extensive and I settled for the Sautéed Maryland Crabcakes - absolutely delicious. We were so impressed with the food and service, it’ll definitely be on the list for a return visit.

On a Sunday evening - The restaurant was the perfect balance of busy but not crowded and as a single diner you can sit comfortably at a side table and enjoy yourself without feeling self conscious. The feeling is somewhat casual quiet but not hip or stuffy. The manager was attentive and the waiter was very polite. The salmon I had was the best I've had in months. I left smiling as I walked down the street - that's what happens when you treat yourself and it turns out right.

We were expecting to go there for happy hour, ( 3-7) but when they set us (at 6pm) I was looking at their happy hour menu, when we were told we couldn’t order from that menu, only the tables close to the bar or at the bar and THEY were FULL! So needless to say I was disappointed, ( not n the food, or the service) but what we would end up paying more than I was expecting for the drinks and food). They did have live music and the food was excellent , but IF we ever return, you can bet we will get there early! For 1 glass of wine, clam chowder and salad with beats and shrimp for 2 was$144.00, ( we would have ordered happy hour food and drinks, which would have cost less ).

Came here with some friends for dinner. Nice atmosphere, wonderful service and excellent meals. My partner raved about the oysters, the jumbo shrimp were good but the star was the lobster rolls - sooo good. Drinks were good, but those rolls - nothing but smiles. Been a while since I was here, but I don't want to wait so long again.

Nice atmosphere. Tables not on top of each other. Would go here for brunch or dinner. Very decent menu. Had Cesar salad- it was extremely fresh and crisp. The lobster sliders were fun, but the rolls that were with the sliders were, eh.

Since I moved to the midwest I have a longing for good lobster. Dinner this weekend with my son had to include lobster and chowder. Chose this restaurant for its reputation and location. Could not have been more pleased. Lobsters were rather pricey but the overall experience was worth it. Loved the prosciutto burrata and fig jam appetizer as well. Super meal with great service.

I ate with friends on a Tuesday night and this place was busy. Make sure to book ahead. Good decor, lively buzz and fun atmosphere. Our waitress was very helpful for what was a great experience. This is more of a seafood restaurant. We had some good sushi followed by steak, which was also good. Worth a visit.

Love this place! Fun atmosphere & fresh seafood! We love the oysters! Great happy hour specials too!

As an awesome outing.. the service was excellent, food sumptuous (though a bit small). Then the ambiance... regal, soothing,.. all add up to an awesome experience.. fine dining at its best.. for me its for if you have an occassion which you want to make memorable, consider the Docks oyster bar...

We went to Docks for Brunch based on some of the online reviews and the menu listed on the website. Several of the things on the online menu were not on the actual menu. Mu husband wound up ordering the Lobster Hash, which if rating on this alone would have generated good reviews. Great flavor and presentation. My frittata was average to poor, being very dry and overcooked. One did one bottomless brunch ($30) and the frittata, so the overall price point was high enough where a dry frittata just does not cut it. Unlike other reviewers I did not find the servers rude (thank goodness) but they were also not all that attentive. No one came to the table between the runner dropping the food and handing us the check. If they had I would have provided this feedback directly instead of through Tripadvisor only. Management needs to step up the brunch -- there are lots of choices in NYC and we will choose differently next time.

More of a 3 1/2 stars. Looking forward to happy hour and 1$ oysters and drink specials at the bar. I didn't realize the place would be so jammed. So we bit the bullet and got a table which i knew would run the bill 4X more. I got the dozen oyster special, at almost $4 per oyster (compared to $1 at the bar) and a salad. My partner got the mussels and frites. The mussels and frites were just ok, some of the frites a little soggy, and the mussels in a spicy marineire, which should not have been spicy . It was definitely not french and contained no herbs. I've had alot better and alot less expensive. The oysters were small, and so disappointing. The salad was ok, but not crispy as advertised. All in all, would I go back for dinner? No. Might I try the happy hour, but on a weekend when there would be much less of a crowd. The waitperson was lovely, but only checked on us once and never asked if we wanted a refill on our drinks, a bloody mary and a red wine. The Malbec was non-descript and lacked body. The Bloody Mary was too thin for my taste and was over spiced.

Especially for the midtown/Grand Central area, it’s a good business lunch spot if you like seafood. There’s generally seating as it’s a large space, but make a reservation if you need to guarantee seating between 1130-130.

We had lunch here for a 61st Birthday and it was a great decision. The seafood was brilliant and the service delivered with skill and humour. It felt like we were eating with old friends. Nothing was too much trouble and we were given lots of information about the different sea food - Oysters, Clams, Shrimp etc that we were choosing. Definitely a highlight of our trip to NYC.

Although the new menu is more limited, the food was fine and still reasonably priced. Our service was excellent - We hadn't been there in two years, nice to see some familiar faces.

Very high energy in the early evening, which is fun, but not great for conversation. Ask for a table in the back, much more quiet. Food was great, the scallops were done just the way I asked for, done but not dry. The sauce was lovely. There is something for pretty much everyone's tastes on the menu. Good wines by the glass. Key lime pie was wonderfully creamy and tart.

I love their happy hour menu. From Mon-Fri, 3pm-7pm, you can order $1 oysters and $4 draft beers. It’s a beautiful setting, and their oysters are delicious.

We met another couple for dinner at Docks recently. Very nice decor inside. Pretty interesting Menu. I had the Rainbow Trout and Peruvian Potato Puree both were good. Our friends enjoyed their seafood dishes as well.

What started off as a questionable experience was saved, and then some, by Amado who was probably the best server we had in our entire stay in NYC. This man deserves to run entire customer service departments. Thank you for taking care of us during our happy hour visit and paying such special attention to our daughter!

I went to Docks. I am a regular customer. This time I was disappointed The Dover sole was average and the rest of the food was ok. What made me Mad was that they charged me 10 dollars for a very ugly baked potatoe . Unreal !!!!

Appetizers of roasted tomatoe soup was giid but very small portion. The marinated beet salad was good. Caesar salad with grilled shrimp was good however, inside leaves of lettuce would have been better. Even so, I would recommend.

Liked the retardant a lot. It can be noisy at busy times. Wine by the glass was a little pricey i.e. $16.00 for a mediocre glass of Sancerre. Oyster bar is highly recommended. Weekend brunch is a good value and has a nice menu

Terrific oyster selection, very fresh fish and a nice space made this one of my NYC go-tos. Last couple of visits have been less impressive though. I hope the place recovers from what would have been a tough pandemic period and gets back to serving a great selection of seafood in a comfortable still upscale setting.

I came here for lunch with a work colleague, the space is very pleasant and light, the tables not too close together. The food was good, my colleague had the crabcake sandwich, I had a chef's salad that was enjoyable. The service was pleasant, I would definitely go back for a business lunch - total tab for 2 with tip was $75.00.

I took my family of 15 from Chicago to Dock rest. for family lunch. I went there and specifically told the reception host what table I want and which window I want to be seated. We are well accommodated and hosr was so nice and accommodating Next I day I was there again and have a great brunch meal w. family and relative.Thank Dock for the wonderful service.

Has a nice dinner (med sea-bass) and enjoyed a qualitative glass of sauvignon blanc from NZ. Service was ok but in my eyes very transactional and not personalized. However, they were efficient and very quick.

The space is large with lots of tables as well as a large bar area with seating. The place was packed including the bar area. Once we got the attention of a bartender it went rather smooth. Had some wine at the bar. Good service.

Fresh seafood but not as good as the original! The little necks tasted like the were caught minutes before we ate them. But other items were OK. The fish and chips was greasy the Cod was fresh but the preparation was too heavy. The waitstaff was nice but inattentive. There was a prixe fix menu that was very reasonably priced.

This is hands down some of the greatest fresh seafood around. It is prepared unlike anywhere I've tried in the past. I really loved their uptown location for it's coziness and quaintness. But this location serves a great variety of everything as well. It's got a beautiful, relaxing interior, and a great location as well. I highly recommend it.

Never told us there was no working air conditioning until we ordered. Just wanted money. Especially in the middle of a heatwave. very rude people.

We go to Docks fairly often with the family. It has a nice atmosphere and the staff are very good. Even if you dont like seafood you can find something on the menu. I have never had a bad meal. Definitely worth the stop.

Enjoyed a wonderful experience at Docks Oyster Bar with several friends. We enjoyed a nice selection of Oysters and everyone enjoyed their meals. Only reason for the 4 star was I ordered Char and it was just OK. Wish I had ordered a different fish. The service was excellent as well!

Family dinner for three, two adults and a child. dinner was excellent (the trout was delicious) the staff were great and the ambience was nice. great night out with great food. recommended.

Very disappointed to arrive for lunch on Saturday and be given only a brunch menu. However food very good. Service good. No full menu for lunch on Saturday.

What a great find!! I have always wanted to try DOCKS Oyster Bar and restaurant week made it possible. The hostess and wait staff greeted my sister and I warmly upon arrival. The atmosphere was lively for an after work Thursday evening. We were offered the summer restaurant week menu as well as the standard one. So many delicious choices! For restaurant week we ordered the BBQ Eggplant Crostini, Branzino with Escarole and Dried Apricot as well as the Shrimp BLT Risotto which had a tomato pesto, Prosciutto and plenty of Large Seasoned shrimp to top off the dish. Loved the variety of the breadbasket. I mentioned my tree nut allergy and our waitress Kaylee (sp) checked with the kitchen regarding the pesto recipe. I appreciated the extra care she showed. Once confirmed there were no nuts I was free to enjoy such a tasty dish! Once Roberto took over the rest of the waiter duties he was just as attentive and confirmed my allergy and when we ordered dessert and brought my grilled peaches with Mascarpone cream without nuts. I will definitely visit again for brunch or happy hour. DOCKS has a new fan!

A prolonged layover between flights meant we had time to take the bus into the city to have lunch. Docks looked nice so we went in. We were the only people in there who were tourists - the rest were all business people having business lunches on business expense accounts. I wish I could have expensed our lunch! It was great service and delicious. We both had the crab cake - and it was very good. But this place is not cheap.

Here with a group. I had the lobster roll which was excellent. Lots of chunks of fresh lobster served with equally excellent fries. Everyone in the group enjoyed what they ordered. The service was excellent.

This long-time East Side seafood restaurant has a dedicated following for a reason: it is consistently in its quality and service.

The service was terrible and that's an unstatement: one of the waters arrived to take our bar order AFTER another waiter had taken our food order. And we had to wait for 25 minutes until our food order was taken! We ordered Tuna which arrived overcooked, dry and tasteless and then the waiter offered a complimentary half bottle of wine (as compensation). We waited another 20 minutes for a waiter to take our desert order and my wife had to flag down a waiter in order to get someone to take our order. This was the worst experience in a restaurant we have ever had and we will not be returning to Docs under any circumstances. Oh and by the way, someone who we presume was a manager was wondering around and seemed a bit lost though he did approach our table while we were having desert and asked if we were finished so he could clear the plates. We were not and so informed him. He then wondered off never to be seen again! Don't know who trains the wait staff or the any of the staff of the restaurant, but this was an experience that bordered on the comical.

Nice restaurant but disappointed with the food. My yellowfin sushi grade tune was hard. Despite asking if it was fresh, which they said it was, it was either fresh frozen or old fish.

We attended a retirement party for a colleague here this week. It’s a very busy place after business hours where people are packed together tightly. The food was acceptable, nothing extraordinary. Given this part of town, it’s on the higher end of potential experiences. The wait staff are attentive once you get their attention.

This was our second visit to Docks. The food was wonderful again and the service was great. The fresh oysters selection was great. We will definitely be back.

My favorite restaurant in NYC. It never fails to impress with the food ambiance and the staff. I will definitely be back again when I am in NYC. Took all the family this time and they loved it too. 5 star!!

Wonderful seafood. Great wait service. Nice wine list. We were too full to even think about dessert. Definitely will go back!

After running around on the +90th floor in 1 Vanderbilt it was nice to come down to earth and eat a well-deserved lovely dinner at Docks. Staff were super nice.

Still one of the great seafood restaurant's in the city. The staff is very observant and efficient. The best cherrystones ( my weakness) and the fish is grilled to perfection. Only did not give it a 5 because one of my guests had a Lobster that was a little on the dry side...on a tight schedule didn't want to send it back. Also try some of the desserts. Worth the trip

I make a bee line for this restaurant every time I am in New York. Great food, service and ambience.

We went for dinner on a week night just four of us. The menu was reasonably extensive. There is a good variety of fish but they also have meat dishes too. I ate the Sesame coated Tuna. I ordered it rare & it was perfectly cooked. Unfortunately there were very few Sesame seeds in the coating. It did taste good & the Cheesecake did too

they have great happy hour from 3-7 pm for oysters and drinks at the bar. I love Tuesdays cos they have live music.

Docks is an excellent New York City fish restaurant in midtown, with live entertainment in the bar area on some nights. Large space with a busy bar.

When in midtown and you are hungry this is a very good choice to eat. Centrally located and easy to get t.

Stopped in for lunch at Docks the other day. I had the Maine Lobster roll - it was the real deal and my wife had the fish and chips - well prepared and a giant piece of cod served with a mountain of awesome fries.

So New York - so good!! It is a noisy and lively Restaurant full with New Yorkers. The food is tasty and lush. We will definitely be back to inhale the atmosphere and to enjoy the food.

Excellent assortment of superb oysters. Wide array of seafood, very nicely presented. Service was excellent. Good wine list. Ambient noise is moderate, but not intrusive. What a great place!!

Had a meeting with our business partners there on Sunday. Our waiter took the order but forgot to bring one of the dishes. Almost 1 hour later I called another waiter and explained that one order was missing. New waiter expressed his apology and promised to take this order out of our bill. The raw sea food platter was good. Sushi very good. Fried calamari were delicious. Apple martini was well balanced. Clean restroom is a big plus!

Until a month ago, all was well with food and service. Suddenly, however, the owner/manager accused me of hurling "Nazi" insults to the staff. I am 77 years old. My father fought in WWII in Europe. I have no interest in insulting anyone and was shocked when the owner falsely accused me. I normally eat alone at the bar and read a daily newspaper, occasionally glancing up at the TV above the bar. I was completely flummoxed at the owners' accusation. I interact only with the bartender to order a meal and beverage. I have no idea where the owner got the idea I had insulted the staff (there is only the bartender).

Lovely restaurant with beautiful outlay in a good location. The menu is very extensive with a wide range of meals on offer at a variety of prices. The lobster sandwiches are very nice as is the seafood salad with crab and a big prawn. The salad was a little pricey at $33 but the sandwiches quite reasonably for the size. All very delicious with pretty good but not excellent service.

New Year's Eve dinner... the food all in all good and the waiters very professionale.piatti plentiful and medium-aòti prices

I came for drink, food and ambience with a coworker. I had the Cajun Oyster sliders, oyster Du Jour and Stella Artois. All was excellent. Giovanni was the bartender and he was very attentive. Highly recommend right in Midtown near Grand Central Terminal. The Bar area is not size. The prices and selections are awesome. Happy hour is from 3-7pm M-F and 12-7pm Sat/Sun.

Stayed at The Westin Grand Central and found Docks on our first night, now been 3 times and they haven’t disappointed, nice atmosphere, lovely staff and service, would highly recommend, nice all round traditional old feel.

Classical New York style restaurant with high ceilings and good food. Service was good and the menu had plenty of choices.

This used to be a great restaurant but it is no longer. We asked for a half bottle of Sancerre but they were out so we ordered two glasses at a greater total cost. No effort to top up our glasses a bit or offer the two glasses for the price of the half bottle. Food was served - no request to see if we wanted for example lemon or to see if all was ok. We asked for bread - if never came. The waiter started clearing the plates of one person while the other was still eating snd only stopped after a remark. It was not a leisurely pleasant meal with attentive service. What a shame

Large space. Best to make a reservation. We made one through opentable. Seated right away. Great bread basket. Had a bottle of cava. Shared the fried calamari. We chose the Thai chili sauce with it. I would have preferred it on the side, they had pored it over the calamari already. The sauce was a bit sweet. The Rhode Island sea bass was delicious. It came with caramelized carrots and kale. Service is a bit spotty, but they are busy.

This seafood restaurant has been serving fresh awesome seafood for decades! Gets a little crowded at the bar at times but the tables are far enough away to dim the noise! Clams and oysters are great, the calamari is spicy and fresh service is good and attentive. Go for a really fine lunch or dinner the menu won't disappoint!!

An associate said this was a must try. The food is excellent. We enjoyed a large variety of east and west coast oysters. I have to say I have never had such melt in your mouth Octopus. For food this good the prices were reasonable, the service was great as was our meal.

Loved our visit to Docks for early dinner. The dining room is cosy with white table cloths and low lighting. At 6.30pm The bar area was buzzing with people sitting up at the bar eating oysters. We had a table and great service. The food was good and we felt well looked after particularly as one of our party has a severe nut allergy. The chef kindly made vegetarian maki for our daughter which was very accommodating. A great meal all round.

The restaurant is clean and sleek and inviting. The seafood is fresh as fresh can be and the wait staff is knowledgeable and accomodating. It's a great DATE or business place and most of all it is in the center of the NYC Universe.

It has become one of my favorites in NYC and I have added it to my list of must visit when I visit. Features delicious, fresh fish and seafood dishes. I love the oyster selection. The crab cakes are a triumph. Convenient place for lunch, dinner as well as happy hour. I found the service top notch and not overbearing. Prices a high, but you get what you pay for

The highlight of our meal was the oyster selections they had on this day. Mouth watering is the best way to describe it. That alone would have gave this place a 5 Star rating. Then our dinner came, Two of us ordered the Lobster bake special they had ($50 plus) each. They had a lot of food; but the lobster was room temperature and the muscles and clams were cold. I’m not talking been sitting out a while; I’m taking sitting out all day cold; but the potato and the corn were hot. Very disappointing end to night because I would recommend this place if only for their oyster selections.

Had a late dinner here and it was very good. Like the restaurant, service was prompt, informative on the oysters. We started with oysters and they waiter helped pick out the meaty brine ones we all like, they were delicious. The entrees were as good, we shared the sashimi platter (recommend it), then we had sushi, lobster roll, the risotto (it was fair), then a pasta dish with seafood. Everything was delicious and we would go back.

Located within walking Distance of the Westin @ Grand Central, we ate here several times. Enjoyed earlier mid-afternoon meals, avoiding the loud bar noise. The food is excellent. HUGE shrimp cocktails, large variety of oysters (cold or hot) to select from. Prices are reasonable, service is exceptional, as was our food.

We have eaten multiple times here, and have written a review here a number of years ago. We were pleasantly surprised by a number of changed/new menu items. Specifically, we had rainbow trout with a very nice stuffing of shrimp & vegetables which was excellent. For those who have not been here a number of years ago, may want to reconsider coming back. The oysters were also very fresh. We will return again soon, which we have refrained from several months ago.

Food was great as well as the ambiance. The background live jazz music was delightful. Would absolutely go back.

Recently re-located offices to the area. I ate there twice for lunch and probably will not be back. Food is very average and inconsistent. Shrimp cocktail shrimp did not seem very fresh. Scallops were inconsistently cooked (some over, some under). I had salmon on my other visit, which was a little undercooked (they offered medium and it was medium rare). And portion was very small for the price. So much easier to find much better options in mid-town Manhattan. Service was slow both days. Its a nice open space, so i guess if you are desperate and need a place to talk, it would be ok.

Our server looked and behaved like she was being forced to work - I seriously thought maybe she was under duress! The restaurant was mostly empty and she was serving just 2 tables and still the service was shoddy and unsmiling. Unfortunately the food wasn’t any better than the service. Certainly not how we remember it - used to be damn good. Maybe they have a new chef but that’s not our concern. Please don’t order the baked potato if you visit. They literally server you just the baked potato and seem genuinely surprised if you ask for any topping for the potato.

Went before a musical on Good Friday. Had the fish, superb! Ambiance was well received. Our server was knowledgeable and great on the suggestions!

This is a hard review to write. One of the dishes was superb... the tuna. The lobster was said to be "the worst ever" from an avid lobster aficionado. Salad and breads were great. Service was pleasant by the waiter. Mix-ups with only 3 place settings and menus for 4 people. No lobster bib for the aficionado. Had to be reminded to serve a side dish of excellent tasting Brussels sprouts. If you're willing to throw the dice and avoid a 11/2 lb lobster, go for it.

Upscale service at the table but also happy our culture at the bar. A fish restaurant serving selected fresh food.

The 6 of us met for 6 to 6.30 pm on Monday 15th October. I noted there was a Happy Hour so could purchase a $14 glass of wine for $7 but could not take it to the table we were given but had to drink it at the bar. I had three Oysters followed by Alaskan halibut and steamed vegetables. We drank 2 bottles of Primitivo wine which was quite ordinary and my wife had the Pinot Grigio - not impressed. The whole meal with coffees came to $150 a couple. Would not recommend this restaurant.

If you are in NYC and looking for great seafood, then this is the place. Good location, easy to get to, on the East side. Very nice staff, good crowd, comfortable, high ceilings. Every dish is excellent. Try the specials. Best Scallops I ever had.

Docks Oyster bar is as the name insinuate a fish restaurant. Been there many times. Very classic interior a bit French. Great professional service. Love the Crab cake, lobster risotto, their modern style sushi and the fish and chips (real style) . I do not eat oyster but my colleagues keep on ordering them so they must be good. Good wine selection A bit pricy on the high end. But I would say it is worth the money.

My husband and I were recently early for our Jitney and stopped at Dock's for dinner. The service was great, but the food was just ok. We shared shrimp cocktail, crab cakes and a sushi roll. The shrimp was fine, the crab cake was good and the sushi roll was pretty good. But overall it was nothing amazing. If you're in the area and need a reliable spot for some food, you'll have a fine experience but won't be blown out of the water.

An Excellent cuisine its a shame about the service and the management, never came to us when he knows that we had an issue, some kind of racism when we talk in spanish... to bad because it’s a nice restaurant.

Perhaps because I live in a small town, too much noise(like most places in NY)makes me uncomfortable. It is the case. Apart from that, crab cakes, Caesar salad and clam showder were grumptious and delicious. The Spanish red wine(sorry, forgot the name)was a very good choice. Service was impeccable! Do visit!

My wife and a friend had a delightful and delicous dinner last night. The restaurant decor is very nice and old school oyster bar with a bit on new mixed in. Our server was very good and gave us plenty of time to talk while serving us with drinks, appetizers and main meals. We went during Restaurant week and ordered off the special menu for a 3 course dinner. All the food was well prepared and served hot with a beautiful presentation. The quality was a step above what we usually get so it was truly a special meal for us. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a fine meal in Manhattan. Our compliments to the Chef and wait staff who were very efficient all around.

Great cocktails. Stiff drinks poured followed by an extensive, if not pricey, menu. Had an unbelievable beet salad followed by the half smoked halibut. The smokiness was perfect, adding a great flavoring to the fish.

I recently moved back to NYC after living in Pennsylvania for a number of years. Of course, I decided to try some of my old favorite restaurants, one of which was Docks. Although I remember it in a different location ... I really enjoyed coming back. One of the things that always set Dock's apart for me was that they treated different fish differently. I have been to a number of good seafood restaurants that didn't do this ... where a lemon butter sole tasted remarkably like a barramundi with lemon sauce. Here the preparations each have a unique flavor. I had a smoky halibut that was outstanding and a great sushi appetizer. My companion had Dover sole he said was excellent. For a large place, the service was efficient polite. One aside I feel obligated to mention. Someone at the table next to us was complaining constantly about the oysters. The server said she would take them off the bill. I don't know how valid the complaint was. We were more than happy with everything we had.

We visit Docks every time we visit Manhattan. We always enjoy it and I believe I already wrote a review some years ago, but I feel this visit deserves an update. We went at around 2 PM on a Wednesday, and it was more than we were expecting. On arrival, a frendly receptionist set the tone for the rest of the saty. Efficient, knoeldgeable, we were well informed of the specials and the best choices in the menu. Prompt and informative answers to all questions and always some person to respond to a request. Seafood of the first class, crab cakes out of this world. So good that we went again two days later... which means something!

Docks is one of our favorite stops in Manhattan. The atmosphere is elegant, the food is outstanding & the wine list is eclectic. We love their brunch but stopped for dinner tonight. The Atlantic salmon was great. The lobster risotto was rich & creamy. Salads & appetizers were excellent. Our Austrian wine was perfect for the seafood. We finished dinner with the Oreo cheesecake. Great night that was made better by our server, Brandon. We’ll be back!

We ordered many things starting from sushi, to lobster to oysters and at the end deserts! Everything was great!!! Impeccable service. Nice selection of wines! Will definitely recommend it!

During the last five years we have come back at least twice a year, even though we live in Madrid. We like everything: the location, the ambiance, the service and the food. Oysters, combining east and west coast, are great. Exceptional the Nantucket scallops and the crab cake. We will keep returning, it is for us a bit of an icon in NY.

I went with a large party for Christmas dinner and one of the group found a human tooth crown in her mashed potato whilst eating it!! On confirming it was not her crown we called management whose response was that the crown had not come from any of their kitchen staff and was she sure it was not hers!!! She was absolutely sure. Understandably most of the group stopped eating however they still tried to charge us for all food except the one meal despite many not eating and discounted some of the drinks as compensation. We agreed to pay for all drinks and tipped the waiters etc. as it was not their fault however refused to pay the food bill so we paid the remainder and left. The following week the manager called one of the group to apologize and make sure the person was not ill which we thought was a nice gesture however 3 days later, my colleagues credit card was debited not only for the $400 amount which was the difference of the bill that was presented on the night but also for an additional $300 which they had initially discounted and for which no bill was ever received. The manager took 3 weeks to respond to my colleague and claimed that the initial discount was an offer just on that night and now they had decided to bill the full amount but presented no bill!!! Unbelievable and disgraceful treatment from a reputable restaurant and they have subsequently lost a lot of trade from a number of colleagues in my organization who regularly used the place but will do so no more, not because of the incident but due to the actions of management after.

Lunch was fantastic and this was definitely a great find. The service was great especially our bar man Giovanni.

My husband and I had a three course meal at Docks this June. To be fair to Docks I am reviewing both the good and not so good aspects of our meal there: Good: the service was excellent; the wait staff were friendly and attentive. my main course of steak, fries and coleslaw was tasty, ok the coleslaw wasn’t as creamy as I would have liked but it was still a good meal. my dessert of Key Lime Pie was scrumptious, I enjoyed it. the wine I had was delicious. my husband had a fish dish with a curried broth, he said it was nice. for dessert he had the chocolate pudding, which he enjoyed. Bad: My mussels smelt ghastly, like low tide on a dirty beach strewn with fish heads and fish guts. I grew up in a seaside fishing village so I know that smell, and I also know what mussels should smell and taste like. As the mussels were being set down to me I noticed the stench, however I made myself try them; they didn’t taste great and the broth that they were served in wasn’t anything special either. I’ve had much better elsewhere. my husband had the chowder, he was underwhelmed saying that it was bland and thin. Again he’s had much better elsewhere. This was unacceptable for a seafood restaurant. I was surprised that it wasn’t better.

Welcomed as a friend at the door, service was impeccable and food selection varied, if you aren't a fan of sea food there is plenty else to choose from which means all tastes are catered for.

We had the burrata and Parma ham appetizer and the wedge salad. Both were very good. The burrata and ham was served on toast points. The wedge salad was good and the bacon plentiful. For entrees, we had the tuna and the fish and chips. No complaints. The New York cheesecake was not overly heavy which was good. A solid 4 stars. Service was a little disappointing which was the only drawback.

I always make a point of coming to docks when I’m in NYC. Consistently good service and seafood. Get some oysters and the lobster, but everything is really good, including crab cakes. Nice vibe if you sit at the bar

A friend and I ate here on the 4th of July during the fireworks display. Surprisingly, the restaurant was fairly quiet until the display was over. I had sea bass (bronzino), which was terrific. Beautifully cooked, nicely sauced, accompanied by fresh sauteed summer squash and couscous in a fresh tomato sauce. Very nice. I like the fact that you can change the preparation to your taste. When our first waiter got swamped and seemed to have forgotten us, we flagged down another who cheerfully filled in. We were issued a second glass of wine without charge for the snafu. Fine by us!

Docks is a lively, large, bustling restaurant. It is pleasant, we were seated by large windows overlooking 40th street. We sampled the grilled red snapper special and fish and chips. Well presented plates, delicious broccoli rabe side and wedge salad. Breadbasket was tempting while waiting for our entree. Fish and Chips came with one good size piece of fried fish. I will return.

There a very few places to dine in Manhattan where you can have a good conversation and not feel cramped. And I found one - Docks Oyster Bar. The restaurant was roomy, the tables were well spaced out and the noise level was very low compared to most places in the city. The waiters were very attentive, and the food and wine were very reasonably priced, which is not normally the case in the Big Apple. The portion sizes are decent but not enormous so there is unlikely to be anything left over. Overall a very pleasant experience and definitely worth booking to have the selection of the creative fish dishes

The menu options are unique enough to separate this restaurant from a typical seafood place, and the service was 100% consistent and excellent from start to finish. I had a seafood cobb salad which had lobster and crab meat, and it was surprisingly light and refreshing. I wish I took a picture, but I was really hungry and I finished my meal in no time. I was there for a business meeting, and the place does suffer from the one typical NYC restaurant problem. it's really loud, and you are forced to speak at an elevated tone.

A super seafood restaurant with oyster and champagne bar . A good place for pre dinner drinks and snacks or a fish supper . This was another New York restaurant week find with a 42$ set menu . The petite tuna nicoise was delicious and beautifully presented , main was a fabulous salmon fillet cooked to perfection with a sweet corn salsa followed by a delicious stone fruit cheesecake . As part of the deal the restaurant offered wine pairing excellent value 25$ all perfectly complimented. Staff were excellent checking on when we wanted wine and food and accommodated a break before desert. Overall a great meal and the main menu looks fantastic with crab, lobster and oysters .

Get plenty of quality seafood, drinks and business done during lunch hours here. Large enough you can usually get a table for 4 without delay.

I started coming here in the 1990s. And, if anything, it is better. You cannot get fresher seafood - including great nightly specials-at better prices in NYC. The wine list is varied and the prices are half off what other comparable places charge. If you just want drinks at the bar- that works too. The bar scene is lively and the drinks are great.

The ambience is great - it looks like a fancy restaurant from a classic movie. The food was slightly on the salty and rich side - take the lobster risotto for example, which was too creamy with the lobster overcooked. Overall the experience wasn't bad but it is difficult to justify the price

Really loved the vibe in this place. Went on a Thursday early evening and the bar was full of great people enjoying a night to hang out and relax. Dinner was excellent and so was the service. Definitely going back

I've gone to this restaurant several times and the food has been the best ever. I love the atmosphere, service and food.

Dined at Docks on a busy Friday night. Reservations are definitely in order, as every table was full. Our reservation was honored promptly. The setting is comfortable and fairly casual. Service was prompt and professional. The menu was broad, and they also offered a variety of specials. We enjoyed the clam chowder, and the scallop special and my mussels and fries were great (and the portions were beyond ample!). Didn't save room for dessert, but they had a number of delectable-sounding options. Would recommend, and look forward to returning.

The food was very good. My husband and I both ordered from the Fixe Prix menu. We both ordered the calamari and it was very tasty. My husband ordered the steak which was very good and cooked to perfection. I ordered the trout which was served with pea puree and quinoa. It was okay; I have had much tastier trout. For dessert my husband order key lime pie which was very good. I ordered the ice cream from the fixe prix menu. The scoop was small and the ice cream had tiny ice crystals throughout. When we arrived we were seated immediately; however, it seemed like a very long time before we were served water and an even longer time for our waited to take order. Then, our waiter went on a break. Another waiter covered for him and there seemed to be little communication between the two waiters. Plus, very little concern for us. No one ever asked if our food was okay. Did we need water refills, etc.? With so many good restaurants in NYC, we most likely will not go back to this one.

Fabulous dining, excellent service (Isabela!) and a fair price for the quality served. I had lobster but oysters were perfect!

The happy hour oyster they had when i was there wasn't great, but they did have a Mexican oyster, Laguna Manuela's, which were fantastic. Menu looked very good, and the service was great. I was there at 3 on a Wednesday, so it wasn't busy at the bar at all.

Went for a family get together, thinking that the fine dining reputation would make it special. The waiter initially hovered and asked us numerous times if we were ready to order, although we didn't have time to peruse the menu. Then he tended to disappear as the restaurant got more crowded. The appetizer of calamari was undersalted and under flavored. The main courses ranging from entree salads to fish dishes were average. Since we live in a seaside city where seafood is king, we can appreciate fresh seafood, but this didn't measure up to it. The chocolate desserts were excellent, and it is obvious that fine quality ingredients went into making them. All in all an average meal, and the waiter was lacking in attentiveness and service.

Just round the corner form us but we'd never used it, looked to big and 'corporate'. Not at all, very friendly staff and comfortable. Food was excellent, the mussels are local and outstanding. Good local draft lager too!

Food was tasty but portions on the smaller side. Server could not have been nicer. I ordered clam chowder with popover- they brought a huge soup bowl, then poured in a small cup of soup. Popover never appeared- they sometimes do not serve it even though it’s on the menu. Tuna tartar tiny but tasty. Nice Cobb salads, good clam sauce but again pricy for the size. Key lime pie just ok.

The Docks on 3rd Avenue, 40th street is an elegant art deco decorated restaurant for fine dining. The place is specialized on seafood, fish and also sushi (also for those who need, there are also some meat choices). Service is upper class and so is most food served, fish and seafood are super fresh. A pity the restaurant is not located somewhere in Brittany (the oysters in NY simply don't match...). The rstaurant has different sections, all rally nice and super wll maintained. But if you are looking for a cosy, personal place this is not your choice, since it is really huge.

Even though the servers are rude, we had planned to go to Oyster Bar at Grand Central. Fortunately it was closed and our concierge recommended Docks. We will go to Docks every time we are in NYC! Food was delicious and service was excellent. A great find!

Fresh oyster at bargain price during happy hrs if sitting or standing by bar area only ..pls check its starting time n be there earlier for allocating a comforting spot. Fried calamari is nice but a bit sweet for me..it’s pretty pack ard the bar area so dun be shy if need to shout Over someone head to catch bartender attention.. enjoy!!!

From the moment you walk in, you know from the friendly welcome and vibe that this place is going to be great. Simply awesome seafood, great staff and ambience. Plus if you're in town you ever get the opportunity to enjoy one of their events (like the Canadian Oyster Festival for example); grab it. Thank you Docks.

Docks used to be a mainstay. But no more. Always crowded, the wait staff seems scared to assist. And then pester you to order even though told “give us 20.” Made a reservation over a month ago. Arrived early. Plenty of tables. And I am shown a deuce squeezed between a wall and another table. Shown to a different table on the aisle. Oh well. Order the stuffed tuna special. Should be a “surprise” since it is a surprise if you find the stuffing. Asked for tuna rare - not even close. There wasn’t a shade of pink and waitress said that is what I ordered. Broccoli was thin and tough - twigs. Guest orders the sole - just awful and for $50 over priced by more than half. Something is amiss at Docks - a fine restaurant on the downturn.

An iconic seafood restaurant, big but quiet at a corner table for lunch on a cold weekday. I made the fatal mistake of ordering their seafood Cobb salad, a lackluster affair of shredded iceberg lettuce, a few flaccid tidbits of lobster and monkfish, one shrimp, and rest (bacon bits, blue cheese, hardboiled eggs, and avocado – mashed on top of an unripe hard chunk, with mayo on the side) laid out in rows on top of the iceberg lettuce. All served on a flat oval plate, so difficult to mix together. Cannot compare with the sparkling fresh Cobb salad, lightly dressed, that I had at Le Pain Quotidian at Union Station in D.C. at half the price. Others at the table fared better – real honest to gosh fish and chips (fresh cod in a proper batter), grilled fish, parsnip soup, all of which looked much better than my sorry lot. The fried oyster appetizer was good, as imagine their oysters on the half shell must be too. I would give this place another despite my disappointing choice this time. As for disability access: there is a revolving door, not clearly marked, and an emergency door that could accommodate those with mobility issues, wheelchairs, etc. Best to check with the restaurant about disability access, steps, etc.

We travel to the City about 5 times a year. We ALWAYS eat at Dock’s! To us it is a quintasential NYC restaurant right out of Mad Men. The service is always top notch and Steve B continued that trait. All the dishes were excellent as usual. The drinks might be the best in Manhattan! Always a wonderful evening and the best news was that they changed the host. It was a pleasure meeting Brian. The last host was the only thing that put a damper on our visits. When we had dinner back in October my guest stated she thought he was so arrogant!

Went there years ago when I worked in the area, and revisited to eat with a business associate who I hadn't seen in a while. Had the seafood cobb salad, which was excellent. Great service and ambience.

Had raw oysters. Some were off, fishy. Some had shell chips in them. Martini was generous, the saving grace here. Nice place. Your first warning sign is the rickety revolving door... it doesn’t add up to the nice interior design and atmosphere. I went early afternoon, so maybe their shucker was inexperienced at shucking and judging a good oyster worth serving. Nice selection of oysters but Disappointed with the unappealing ones served.

Flew into NYC and needed some seafood. We stopped in for some Oysters, Sashimi and Truffle Fries. We were not disappointed. The fish was so fresh! All of the food surpassed expectations and our waitress was great! We knew it would be expensive, but the food did not disappoint. I would definitely return. great place, beautiful decor and friendly staff.

Excellent food. Waitress was very friendly and on her game. Very busy and the meals came out in a timely manner. Restroom is clean. Would definitely go back and recommend to anyone.

I know that this place enjoys a good reputation. However, my lunch was quite disappointing. When the bread basket is the best part of the overpriced lunch special, you know that you should have gone elsewhere. Sigh... More specifically, the chowder was just so-so and the fish of the day was essentially tasteless and the small amount of vegetables surrounding it was also just so-so.

Went as a family and really enjoyed the food and service. Wouldn’t recommend the Cob Salad my wife had, she wouldn’t say anything but very disappointing. The rest of us had great food and the atmosphere in there is always great. Been there over a number of years working in New York and now as a tourist, worth a visit

Seafood is generally pretty expensive and not the best quality in Manhattan which is why stumbling on the Sunday Lobster Clambake was a real treat. For $55, you get clam chowder, a 2lb lobster and key lime pie. It wasn't the best lobster I've had but still a great deal and worth a visit.

Thursday evening visit around 8pm with no reservation. Super busy but we managed to get a table. They have a good value set price dinner at 42$ with starter, main and desert. My wife had the soup, steak frites and ice cream. All were really outstanding. I had a spicy salmon tartare and a salad that were great as well even if the green salad was small. Would go again.

I used to go to Dock’s in the early 2000s. The atmosphere has not changed. The retro style marina interior (remained identical) Incredibly they look even more beautiful and particular today. The expert and polite service is from another time. Unfortunately, I'm afraid the place is crossing An identity crisis, let me explain. Those dining here must budget 150/200 USD per person. Too many for a tourist but he is not a Michelin star, so not attractive to the most demanding. But we went there and we had a great time because they introduced the happy hour that fills up immediately at the bar counter but if you arrive a little later they will not send you away but will make you sit at one of the tables of the restaurant! Dedicated Happy Hour menu of course , but with oysters at 1.5 dollars each plus other delicacies (fried squid etc etc ) glass of wine and beers at fair prices for New York, you can live the experience of a real dinner without having to Switch to the ATM twice. Come on Dock’s!

I enjoyed the food so much I came two days in a row. Yesterday I had the lobster risotto. Tonight I am having the 3 course prix fix and the lovely wine pairings.

Definitely NYC service and prices. My Maryland crab cakes were superb. They come in just behind THE best I ever had (at a Pacific Oceanside restaurant)! Husband’s jumbo shrimp excellent and beautifully plated. Servings were generous. Wine was good. Coffee also excellent. Perfect location for us since we had appointments at the Swiss Consulate in the same building.

Great happy hour. Tasty oysters at a $1 a piece dinner was fantastic. I had yellowfin tuna which was to die for. Others at my table had risotto with shrimp, lobster pasta, swordfish special a steak fritte and all loved their meals. Dessert flourless chocolate cake was out of this world. Service was attentive and pleasant. Bartender during happy hour seemed too busy to be pleasant, but in his defeat, it appeared he had no help. I highly recommend this place

We picked Docks because it sounded ok and is near our hotel. We really had a delicious dinner! It’s big, but has a nice vibe and excellent service. The menu has some really interesting options on it and we thoroughly enjoyed all of our dishes. Certainly recommended and we’d certainly return.

We spent an evening with the family. Booked months ahead, arrived early, a very gloomy waiter took us to a terrible table at the back. The restaurant was still rather empty. After complaining, we were given a good table by the window. The food was ok but nothing special and our waitress was grumpy ( not rude, just fed up with her job, not happy to be there). All in all , quite a dull experience. Not worth it.

We have passed this restaurant multiple times and it was always filled with diners with a busy bar.crowd. I can see why. The interior is large, bright and appealing. The menu has many choices and the service is very good. I had the grilled brussel sprouts as an appetizer, which were really tasty. The halibut was delicious as well, nicely seasoned.. My husband had the shrimp cocktail--large, flavorful shrimp and one of the featured specials, the Atlantic Char, also quite good. One of the better seafood meals we've had. This is a place that we'll visit again for sure! 1

I found this place on OpenTable. There were sooo many yummy dishes on the menu it was tough to choose what to have! We shared the rockefeller oysters to start, I then had the most amazing crab cakes and my sister in law had the lobster roll. Both were very generous portions. We can also recommend the Midtown Kiss cocktail!

Having been to Docks many time over the years, I feel compelled to write a review, as the food and service were really poor on a recent visit. Marginal food, waiters griping amongst themselves about customers - in customers' earshot, no cutlery provided, bill requested twice. Standards have really slipped unfortunately.

First time dining at Docks. In town on business and had dinner with family who live nearby. Nice atmosphere and decor. Dinner res at 7pm. Arrived at 6pm for a seat at the bar to wait but it’s a busy happy hour bar. Went down the street to Black Sheep instead to wait. Had a nice window front table. Very good service. Crab cake sandwich was delish. Sushi starter was very good. Limited beer selection. Would dine again.

My friend and I ordered the oyster sampler which was very fresh and tasty. We shared a fish and chips dinner which was cooked to perfection. Crispy fish that came with crispy French fries. Delicious. Wait staff was very professional and accommodating. Will definitely go back!
We docked here for about two pleasant hours
This is an old place and I have eaten and written about it many times. The thing is, it's not consistent, it's hit and miss. I love the Belle Epoque ambiance with the huge gilded mirrors, checkered mosaic floors and old fashioned bar in the middle. Service can be top of the line but it can be dreadful, and I've had both. On a recent rainy Sunday we come here for brunch. There is a jazz trio by the windows and not many people, it's late, around 3PM. The New England Chowder is among the best I've ever had, the fried calamari – huge portion and pretty good. Olive oil good quality and service excellent, on this occasion. But the best is they have my favorite Rose, Domaine de la Fouquette, Cuvee Aurore, at $45 which is a good price for a NYC restaurant. This time, I got lucky, maybe I'll come back sooner than later.
